Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Zoo Dresden is home to over 2000 wild animals representing 300 species from around the world, all housed in naturalistic enclosures. The prestigious 16th-century Johanneum building hosts the Dresden Transport Museum, a favorite among families. It showcases a diverse collection of exhibits spanning different eras and includes interactive stations like the Transport Garden and Experiments Room. Visitors can also enjoy a ride on the railway staffed by local school children dressed in uniform.
A nice Zoo which is very good kept in shape. The amount and variety of animals keeps you day long busy. Also for a snack and drinks are enough possibilities, but lacking in price/quality ratio. But all in all a super nice animal friendly park.
Michael H — Google review
Dresden Zoo is surprisingly spacious with a great variety of animals—cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and even orangutans! It's never too crowded, making it perfect for a peaceful weekend stroll. Ticket prices are reasonable, and students get an extra discount, which is a nice bonus. Highly recommended for a laid-back day out!
Knghtfall — Google review
Very nice Zoo well worth visiting! Went there last Sunday with family, easy to spent whole day here as there is plenty to see - be it good variety of animals or live music playing on several spots and add food&snacks stalls within walking distance from any exhibition or playground for little ones, making it quite convenient for all ages. Despite how busy this place was it is surprisingly tidy. Some pavilions were shut, however all things considered we will be more than happy to come back again!
Dominik K — Google review
It was a good Zoo, with so few things open on Christmas Day. It was good to go down and see the animals get their special Christmas gifts. It was enjoyable time. The food at the food vendors inside the zoo were surprisingly good as well.
Steve S — Google review
I like zoo’s. This one is quite nice too, maybe a bit shabby and quite a few of the cages/spaces were empty. It is clear they had to make choices, and I like those choices. They built a huge orang utang building, for just a very few of these wonderful creatures. Also there is a nice underground place where common rats and mice are to be seen, including sewers and tunnels and several little rooms. The flamingo’s are wonderful, they have a nice island with several nest towers to stand on. The food is fine, staff is friendly.
Anita G — Google review
Amazing zoo, lots of animals that you wouldn’t expect as well! One of the best zoos I have ever been to, definitely worth the visit.
Sophie W — Google review
Zoo Dresden is an amazing place to visit! The variety of animals and the way their habitats are designed is truly impressive. The zoo is clean, well-organized, and perfect for families or anyone who loves nature and wildlife. There are plenty of shaded areas, cozy spots to relax, and informative boards that make the experience even more enjoyable. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the animals look well cared for. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Dresden!”

Dresden Zwinger is a stunning Baroque building that houses a porcelain collection and exhibits on historic scientific instruments. The city of Dresden, often referred to as 'The Florence on the Elbe,' boasts magnificent architectural wonders like the Semper Opera House, Royal Palace, Cathedral St. Trinitatis, Castle Pillnitz, and Frauenkirche. Despite the devastation of World War II, Dresden has persevered and regained its beauty.
The building is still under construction 🚧 and the garden also. But it’s still beautiful, they allowed tourists to go inside the garden for free and walking up to the fortress area to see the view on both sides of the castle and city. The beautiful historical arts and history is worth to visit, very close to the Opera House too.
Pasan S — Google review
Magnificent Baroque palace, initially build by August Strong as a an orangery and gardens, destroyed by the ally bombings in 1945, restored in 50s and 60s . You can walk on the roof of the galleries and admire the beauty of it. It's open till late evening and the entrance is free. The inner garden part is currently ( as of August 2025) under renovation. The galleries house 2 museums - one of mathematical instruments and another is porcelain gallery ( which I highly recommend). When we were there in one of the towers a classical music concert was held. It was beautiful to listen to music in a such beautiful place.
Elllen K — Google review
I visited the Zwinger in Dresden and really enjoyed the experience. There is a lot to see here, and the place itself feels quite special. The architecture is impressive and honestly a bit overwhelming – you can just stand there and keep looking at all the details. Every corner has something interesting, from the buildings themselves to the sculptures and the way everything is arranged. It was a bit crowded when I visited, but that didn’t really stop me from enjoying it. You still have plenty of space to walk around and take your time. I found myself slowing down just to notice the small details, and it was worth it. Overall, I think it’s one of those places you shouldn’t miss if you’re in Dresden. It’s not only about seeing a landmark, but also about the feeling of being surrounded by such a unique piece of history and design.
Yana — Google review
This is an absolute must-see in Dresden. There’s no need to explain why — just go. The palace offers much more to see than you might expect, so make sure to allow plenty of time for your visit. It’s truly worth the admission fee. The art museum was particularly impressive !
Just ! — Google review
Fantastic place to visit. It takes a few hours to go through each of the exhibitions but it's worth it. One small con is that you can never be sure that you visit everything that is there to be seen. Somehow it's easy to lose the track as exhibitions are in different sections of the court dividend by stairs/halls etc. Anyway, if you are in Drezno and have free time - go there :)
Grzegorz C — Google review
This a wonderful and beautiful palace ground in a baroque style. Built with beautiful gardens inside and a pathway on the top of the building where you can walk around and enjoy the view. You can walk all around through the Kronentor and onwards. A very pleasant building
Anand — Google review
A wonderful, historical place to visit. I was really amazed with the architecture and atmosphere, it's like you feel the art and festivals in the air though they're already lost in the history...
Maziyar S — Google review
Incredibly gorgeous and worth the visit! Just remember, no backpacks or bags inside the building.

Garden
The Grand Garden of Dresden is a picturesque and expansive park located in the heart of the city. It was built in early Baroque style and is the largest park in Dresden. The garden features baroque sculptures, a summer palace, large grassy lawns, and a beautiful pond surrounding the main palace. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls or bike rides through the charming garden, as well as explore attractions such as the Dresden Zoological Garden and Dresden Botanical Garden within its grounds.
A huge garden in 200 hectares of areas in Dresden. They have many areas where you can jog and mini train-stations. There is a palace and 2 lakes with fountains in them. A must see garden if you are in Dresden. Look out for Großer Garten and you will reach there in many ways.
Nikhil R — Google review
Large park in centre of Dresden which acts as an oasis of calm. Although there is plenty of green space there isn't a great deal to see. Park is flat and is popular with cyclists. You can get to park by the tram on the main road.
Andrew L — Google review
A place full of peace and nature in the middle of Dresden. A park to ride a bike, meet friends for a picnic, you can rent a boat in the small lake. Love this park.
Katia D — Google review
Beautiful park with a mini-railway for Kids, a lot of flowers and cafes to spend a good time in nature. Recommend!🥰👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
GaLina G — Google review
We went for a morning run in the beautiful Großer Garten. It's a perfect spot for outdoor activities, located just near the center of Dresden. The park features well-maintained plantings, magnificent large trees, fountains, flowers, walking paths, and of course, a stunning palace right at its heart. The Dresden Zoo and a miniature railway are also located within this vast park. We ran from the Altstadt around the Palaisteich pond and back, making the morning run a comfortable 5+ kilometers. You could easily do a 10 km run in the park without retracing your steps even once. A truly wonderful park!

This huge park dating from 1676 can be reached in about 20-25 minutes using public transportation. There is a lake and a small castle as well. Really great place to walk, ride the bicycle, in-line skate or jog.

Gardens
BOT Botanical Garden is a historic site that has undergone restoration after being nearly destroyed in 1945. It features three greenhouses showcasing tropical plants, along with an impressive collection of over 10,000 plant species and tree fossils. The garden also houses twelve major museums and art galleries, making it a cultural hub. Visitors can enjoy various festivals throughout the year, such as the Bunte Republik Neustadt in June and the Dixieland Jazz festival in May.
I had a lovely walk through the greenhouses of tropical plants. Many species are represented naturally and beautifully. Well worth a visit, and don't miss the tillandsias.

Kymvalon — Google review
Surprisingly good experience. From the map, I expected something very small. But the place is quite big, very well maintained, and has an amazing variety of plants. Beautiful! There are separate greenhouses for different regions, and it was great to see plants from back home - felt a bit like being transported back to the woods home.
Raziman T — Google review
Atmosphere, beauty and grace, my recommendations!!!
Otec C — Google review
Surprising find. I read some of the reviews and had a totally different, but good experience. Even in late summer/early autumn, there’s plenty of flowers blooming. The garden is quite as large as the best in the world. The flowering plants are not quite as extensive as even in Cologne , and that’s because large sections of the gardens is devoted to trees. The gardens also has a small one roomed aquarium, tropical greenhouse and a lily house. The latter were quite enjoyable. The Lily house is comparable to that of Kew Gardens in London. Overall I thought the Botanical Gardens was a pleasant place to visit for a couple of hours and it’s free too.

Oskarshausen is a family-friendly amusement park located on the outskirts of Freital, not far from Dresden. The park offers both indoor and outdoor play areas, as well as craft workshops, optical illusions, and various dining options. It's a popular destination for families in the surrounding area. Oskarshausen features attractions suitable for all ages and provides an ideal setting for a fun day out with the whole family.
Very nice fun park for kids with free entrance (you only pay for some of the attractions). We also liked the inside part with yummy lollipops.
Michaela E — Google review
You can enjoy without entrance fee. When you enter, you are asked to buy free pass for 12€. But most of the attraction needs additional fee and I don’t think free pass is needed. And it is better to bring cash because you use 1 or 2 €for attraction.
Daiki M — Google review
12€ for a day ticket. Then you still need to pay for many attractions. Like 2€ for 6 minutes of jumping. Indoor Jumpyard is empty and then suddenly all kids want to jump on that one trampoline that's on, that you've paid for. They get angry if you tell them not to jump and no staff to see. Or pay extra for the ponies. Only 5 toilets inside. Not much seating for parents or grandparents. You stand a lot. Food was cold and you pay by 100g - but they seem to round up a lot. Only pork as meat. Empty box-piles in the shops that wait to be removed. Coffee machine is not working. No mobile reception many places but also no wifi. It's fun though for kids from 3-8 years old. For the fun and decorations I'd give 5 stars, service and prices make up my whole review.
Keks D — Google review
So many things to do with kids all ages, nice inside and outside,. lots of books and gifts to buy. Only air conditioning could be better

Vorteile/ Advantages : Indoor and outdoor attractions for all kind of weather , plenty variaties of food , also for non meat eaters , free entry for Parents , free parking , many free Games , that in other places must be payed , open on Sundays .. relative short waiting time to enter , even when there is a lot of admission , special extra activities in Event's day such as Kindertag .Free entry for a child in his/her Birthday . Nachteile/ disadvantages : Trampolin costs extra money !!! I did observed everytime i've been there , that people don't respect the queue ( Warteschlange ) ( not all but many ) , although this has nothing with oskar to do , but it is something to be mentioned !
Hassan D — Google review
The place is not very big and not too many attractions. For big children they're are no adrenalin attractions. But if your kid is 3-7 years old, they will love it here. My 4yo son didn't want to leave the place in the end of the day.
Kirill M — Google review
Amazing place to visit with kids! But... Don't be fooled with cheap entrance. It will cost you much, much more. Oskarhausen is business and has it's tricks how to lure money out of your pockets. Most of the attractions are free, but with some, you have to have some cash. So take plenty of 1€ and 2€ coins for trains, cars, baggers etc. Also, it is prohibited to take your own food and drinks. Water is okay, but filling your bottles on toilets is not possible as the water is not drinkable. Not sure if it is true or not, but it leave you with buying bottled water. A lot of water as me as an adult was running around and sweating as hell. Especially outside on open sun. Food is average. Tastes exactly how you would expect... I felt as it is prefabricated frozen food. We paid around 35€ for lunch for two adults and one kid. Some food is paid by weight and some has single price per plate (kids pasta). Just be aware of that. Otherwise the place offers a lot of fun for kids and adults. If you have more weight (as me) you will be limited as most of the attractions are for max 80kg. Comming with stroller is not a problem, we were there with out 4 months young and hadn't issue. Facilities are well equipped also for the smalles ones. We spent there arounds six hours and didn't have enough time to see it all. I can say, we will come again. Overall spend was around 150€. Enjoy!

(Translated by Google) My daughter and I only had 7 days of vacation, and we were undecided about where to go. So we booked a trip with KM Reisen in Dresden. What was important to us was a short flight time, departure from Dresden, no long transfer from the airport to the hotel, a quiet hotel, and preferably a bit more luxurious. At the travel agency, I was advised by Mr. Knut Müller – he understood exactly what we were looking for and recommended the perfect trip. The Paralos Lifestyle Beach Hotel in Amoudara was exactly what we were looking for: great service, the room as requested with private pool access at the edge of the hotel, and the food of high quality. We felt completely at home and were able to truly enjoy the week! I highly recommend the travel agency – and especially Mr. Knut Müller! Ms. Herrmann and Mr. Beck (KM Reisen team) also helped me with any questions I had, competently and friendly. Thank you very much for the great organization! We felt very well looked after – we will definitely book here again! Also Termin bei KM Reisen in Dresden gebucht.

(Translated by Google) The perfect vacation! We decided quite late (beginning of December 2024) that we wanted to see the northern lights in the northern countries in February 2025. So we went to KM Reisen in the hope of finding another trip. Mr. Müller found a few offers straight away, but there was nothing that appealed to us. We didn't just want to see the Northern Lights, but also a bit of landscape and culture. Just in case we don't see the Northern Lights. After some time and intensive searching on the part of Mr. Müller, we found a tour through Iceland. Everything sounded good, some with food, a northern lights walk and lots of sightseeing. Sounds too good right? That's why we wanted some time to think about it, and this wasn't a problem either. Mr. Müller reserved the trip for us and we were able to think about it for a few days. After the first night it was clear that we wanted the trip. We got an appointment with Ms. Herrmann at short notice and booked the trip. Ms. Herrmann went through all the details with us, answered all questions, gave useful tips and fueled our anticipation for the Iceland tour. What a service. Our Iceland tour was amazing. We saw amazing things every day, ate delicious food and saw an incredible amount of northern lights. The great thing was that you didn't have to worry about anything, everything was organized. The guide was an Icelander who spoke German very well. He told us a lot about his country (history and legends) and brought us closer to his homeland. We only had one day of rain, a lot of sun, but also a lot of “storms” (the Icelander says: “A little bit of wind today”). Of the 8 days we saw the Northern Lights on 5 days with the naked eye. A truly spectacular sight. Breakfast and dinner were always tasty and sufficient. We really didn't have anything we didn't like. It was the perfect vacation that we will not forget. Thank you very much, dear KM Reisen team, for being patient with us (we weren't easy with our ideas), the great support and for finding our perfect Northern Lights trip! We will definitely come back to you for our next big trip! (Original) Der perfekte Urlaub!

Elbwiesen, also known as the Elbe Meadows, is a picturesque area located on the north bank of the river Elbe in Dresden. It offers stunning views of Dresden's Old Town, as depicted in paintings by Bernardo Bellotto. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful riverside experience without the obstruction of high-rise buildings. The meadows are perfect for outdoor activities such as running, cycling, and leisurely strolls.
(Translated by Google) We visited Dresden for a concert that took place on the Elbe meadows. Since I didn't know the Elbwiesen and only standing room was sold, I was very pleased that there were relatively many seating options made of concrete, arranged in steps. Only at the bratwurst stand the queue never decreased. It was a great experience. From the Loschwitzer Hang to the Ostragehege, gardens, avenues, palaces, and urban monuments have been arranged over centuries – as if everyone had collectively decided: "We look as if we've always been this way." In 2004, it was awarded the UNESCO Badge of Honor – but was swiftly revoked in 2009 because a bridge was built that didn't fit the portrait. A stunning place with a luxurious palace, picturesque gardens and a lake. Unfortunately, we visited on a cloudy winter day, but this weather suited the architecture in the Gothic style perfectly. Park
Alaunpark is a popular spot in Neustadt, Dresden, offering a variety of activities for visitors. In the summer, it's bustling with people enjoying barbecues, break-dancing, and Capoeira performances. The park features two children's playgrounds and a community garden, providing ample shade from the trees and occasional breezes. While graffiti can be found around the area, the park offers free automated toilets for visitors' convenience.
I spent about 30 peaceful minutes in this park after a day of sightseeing in the city. The abundance of trees, just like the rest of Dresden, brought such a sense of calm to both my body and mind. It was the perfect way to unwind and reflect after an eventful and fulfilling day.

Fantastic park with a diverse array of people, including many frolicking goths. In addition to the old folks, families, and joggers, we found large groups of fabulously outfitted young goths and punks playing wholesome games in the sunshine. It was delightful. And no, I'm not kidding. This park is packed with game-playing goths and I'm here for it.

Large public area in the hearth of Neustadt for relaxing and even playing games in the open. Locals love to come here to play with the bottles, jogging, having ice cream or simply take sun baths.

this park is huge and always has something cultural or new to experiment. Nice to go with friends, family or pets, just walk or chilling. Lenax & The Heartbroken make one of the first presentations the day I went there ❤️👌🏻

Nice park where people meet their friends in Neustadt. It's a typical place for concerts, chilling and playing. It's refreshing and full of people at sunny days

Nice wide, green open space with enough tree shades also to hang out during nice weather.

(Translated by Google) Nice little park on the Elbe. Great for walking and relaxing. I always find it relaxing here. The view of the old town is also very nice. You can easily reach the neighboring rose garden from here. 🌳⚘️ There are lots of benches, shady trees and paved paths. Unfortunately, not everything is barrier-free. Below the Staudengarten there is a bike and footpath on the Elbe meadows. The perennial garden extends from the Albert Bridge to the State Chancellery. The parks belong to the Königsufer and are under monument protection. About the story: In 1910, under city planning officer Hans Erlwein, there was an urban planning competition to design the Königsufer as a park. This was intended to permanently prevent further bank development with streets, as is typical on the old town side. In 1934-1935, under city garden director Heinrich Balke, the perennial garden, surrounded by hornbeam hedges, was created as a special garden with flat carpets of perennials for the Reich Garden Show in 1936. That year the archer was also installed at the Staudengarten; it is a replica of the original by Ernst Moritz Geyger from 1902 in Potsdam. The later additions include the sundial created in 1940, which marks the geographical measuring point of Dresden, and the free sculpture Standing Boy, sculpted in bronze by Christine Heitmann in 1984. Renovation after World War II: After an inventory was carried out in 2005 and the monument preservation objectives were met in the following year, plans were carried out for a reconstruction that was true to the original, taking into account changed factors such as tree growth. Construction took place in the second half of 2009. For the implementation, the Saxon State Ministry for the Environment and Agriculture awarded first place in the category of landscape gardening specialties in the “Prize of Saxon Gardening and Landscaping 2010” competition.

(Translated by Google) A nice little park with a view of the Elbe. The highlights are interesting sculptures, a pond with ducks and of course the beautiful view of the city and the Elbe. Unfortunately there is nothing more here. Unfortunately, almost all of the white benches are painted with black pen, there is a large parking lot right behind the park, there are not enough trash cans and the park is not as comfortable as I like it, very overcrowded when the weather is nice. I wouldn't come here especially.

(Translated by Google) Small landscaped park. It is located on the Dresdner Königsüfer, on the Neustadt side of the Elbe, next to the State Chancellery of Saxony. Everything in German is concise and in its place. Interesting sculptures, but there are a lot of them in Dresden. IMHO, if you pass by, stop by and take a walk, but you shouldn’t make a special trip here.

(Translated by Google) It is somewhat hidden below the Saxon Ministry of Finance and below it is bordered by the Elbe cycle path. Benches invite you to linger, now in spring the early bloomers are there, such as tulips or daffodils. A plant fountain up to 1.40m deep is also available. If you look between the hedges, you can see the Albert Bridge to the left, and if visibility is good, you can see the three Elbe castles. Looking to the right, you can see the Carola Bridge, as well as the women and the Hofkirche. Of course, don't forget the Elbe, where you can see the paddle steamers of the White Fleet as they travel towards the Czech Republic or Hamburg.
