Bay
Nestled on the southeastern coast of England, between Margate and Ramsgate, lies the charming seaside town of Broadstairs. This classic British destination boasts sandy beaches, colorful beach huts, and an array of antique shops. The town has been a favorite retreat for city dwellers for centuries, including renowned author Charles Dickens. One of its main attractions is Viking Bay, a picturesque stretch of coastline adorned with vibrant beach huts and fishing boats.
Amazing beach with everything you could want within walking distance. There is a lift down onto the beach.
Jason S — Google review
Great beach with local bars, restaurants and shops. Lifeguards on duty and easy to park although no internet available at the car park so had to pay by cash.
Sarah H — Google review
Not as beautiful as Botany Bay, Kingsgate Bay, Jess Bay and Stone Bay thay are wild ... It's very over-populated with too many businesses. It's a very urban beach but English style I liked the sea hats but sea gulls are pretty wild here, if you eat they fly on you and also get your food away be careful it happened to me when I put down my take away box ...they stole it! Lol Nice fish and chips places and a few gift shops and art galleries are also worth a try!
Daniela M — Google review
A beautiful cozy flat sandy bay that has everything you need for a fantastic day out at the beach, as there is so much to do around this area whether you like relaxing, walking or eating, this place has it all along with its amazing history, so much to see.
Tracey A — Google review
Typically pleasant British beachfront with numerous options for food and drink, including reasonably priced fish and chip shops. The beach is sandy with some rocky parts a little further into the surf. Lots of seaweed grows at these points, and the beach can be rather green - but it's perfectly safe to swim. There are the typical seaside amenities nearby, such as shops and stalls selling beachwear, buckets, swimming gear, etc. It gets very crowded at peak times. My photo shows the end of the day when most people have already left - and it's still busy. Safe for families with children but is quite loud, as it attracts a lot of large groups, teenagers and Bluetooth speakers. For a quieter visit, try Stone Bay just a few mins walk Northward along the coast. Stone Bay has only a single vegan (I think!) beach shack for food, but it's far more peaceful and much less crowded.
Jon N — Google review
Lovely beach with plenty of food, cafes and shops. Beware of the seagulls when you have food with you. They try to steal your food. I once was their prey. 😥
Aom A — Google review
Viking Bay in Broadstairs is a sandy beach less than a couple of hours from London by train. There are amenities such as toilets, food kiosks, showers and lifeguards. The beach itself is full of seaweeds so to me it did not make it the prettiest beach. Broadstairs itself was a very gentile town. There are several walking trails in the area which can be followed and is well sign posted. There is a Dickens museum, as Charles Dickens apparently loved staying in Broadstairs. On the clifftop there were various pop-ups selling a variety of goods. There is also a children's play area in the same vicinity. It is a lovely area and worth a visit for a day out with the kids. The toilets could be kept in better condition though.
Sarah H — Google review
I don’t really fancy the beaches in UK. However, this is a nice, sandy beach. There are public toilets and changing cabinets, shops for drinks and playground for kids. It was difficult to find a parking. P.S: Don’t forget to check the tides before you visit any seaside for swimming. You might be surprised if you find not even a drop of water. ☺️

Museum
The Dickens House Museum, also known as the Charles Dickens Museum, is a charming museum located in Broadstairs that showcases artifacts and memorabilia related to Charles Dickens' connection to the area. The museum is set in the cottage where Dickens found inspiration for Betsey Trotwood's home in his famous novel David Copperfield. Visitors can explore a treasure trove of items that vividly depict the author's life and works.
We did the tour - short and sweet but informative. Really enjoyed it, thank you.
Roamin G — Google review
The Charles Dickens House Museum in Broadstairs, Kent, is a charming seaside retreat where Dickens spent summers and found inspiration for David Copperfield. Set in a beautifully preserved Victorian house, the museum offers a glimpse into his life with period furnishings, personal artifacts, and rare memorabilia. Visitors can explore rooms like Dickens' study, overlooking the sea, and view original letters and first editions of his works. The museum, enriched with events and exhibitions, provides a captivating look into Dickens' life and creativity in the picturesque coastal town.
George K — Google review
The price is fairly cheap for a museum. The house is quite small, so there's not an awful lot to see. However, if you're like me and like to peruse every little detail when scanning through rooms, then you can spend at least an hour in here. There are also helpful staff who tell you some background about Dickens, his life and his connections with Broadstairs and this house. There is a copy of his will hanging on a wall, alongside a very old map of London, some doll-like figurines displayed of some of his recognisable characters. A very useful poster about Dickens' timeline and London, and other places worth visiting if you're interested in further references. If you just want a quick look around, you can probably see everything in half an hour.
Brim Z — Google review
I have had this museum on my bucket list for a while. I was not disappointed when I visited. It is a small museum but ideal for what it is. I was happy with the display that gave me more insight into the life of this great author as I have read a lot of his books.

A wonderful gem in Broadstairs! The Dickens House Museum is full of history and charm, and it really brings Dickens’ world to life. The house is beautifully kept, the exhibits are fascinating, and it’s incredible to stand in the very place that inspired so much of his work.I highly recommend for anyone visiting Broadstairs and anyone who loves Charles Dickens I'll definitely be coming back.
Bailey W — Google review
This is a fantastic small museum that offers a captivating glimpse into the life and works of Charles Dickens. The museum features original handwritten letters and various personal items of Dickens, providing an intimate connection to the famed author. The knowledgeable guide enriches the experience with insightful anecdotes and historical context. The quaint gift shop is a delightful addition, offering a selection of Dickens' books and unique souvenirs.
Eileen A — Google review
It might be not the most important museum of the author, but certainly worth visiting. I could imagine how he was living there and walked the streets of the town. The guided tour was charming, I had a feeling that people who work there really love there job. Thank you!
Irene V — Google review
Fantastic small museum with very knowedable friendly staff and great gift shop. There is a Dickens festival in june I recommend visiting then when all the staff and many visitors are dressed up in victorian dress. The house was owned in the 20s by a super fan couple who bought many pieces of furniture owned by dickens, etchings depicting him, first edition books etc. Before them the house was owned by a woman who dickens had tea with frequently when he visited Broadstairs. His original house in Broadstairs is now an Iceland, so sad! Help to keep these places alive by visiting. It's well worth the cheap admission, gorgeous views and styled interior.

Stone Bay is a serene and less crowded Blue Flag beach located in the seaside town of Broadstairs, nestled between the popular Kent beaches of Margate and Ramsgate. Families are drawn to this spot for its soft sand, chalky cliffs, and ample space for activities like rock pooling. Although dogs are not allowed during high season, it's a dog-friendly beach otherwise. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the promenade to Broadstairs for some local treats.
Quietest of the Broadstairs beaches from my visit on Friday and Saturday, it’s very large with lots of sand and a rocky path when the tides out. You’ll want to walk in the direction of Ramsgate to find the nearest public bathrooms and restaurants at Viking Bay
Rosie N — Google review
We decided to stay in Stone Bay which is quieter and less crowded than other nearby areas. The place is relaxing. My kids played with the sand. You cant really swim but it’s a good place to just lounge around and hear the waves and feel the wind. No toilets nearby. Sand is ok and fine.
L. C — Google review
The nice view and white stone cliff is photo perfect. This bay is not that big near Viking bay is good for swimming.
Ali A — Google review

Beautiful place and very peaceful!!! As you can see in the pictures and even better 😍😍 fall in love with this place !! I call it now “ my happy place “
Marco G — Google review
We had an amazing time at this beach. The view is simply stunning, with clear blue water stretching as far as the eye can see and soft sand making it the perfect place to walk and relax. The atmosphere is so peaceful and refreshing, with the sea breeze working like a natural atomiser, filling the air with freshness and calm. Sitting by the shore and watching the waves was truly relaxing and gave us such a sense of escape from the busy city life. It’s a beautiful spot where nature shows its best side, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a calm, scenic, and refreshing experience. ---

Lovely sandy beach with rock pools. Handy cafe and toilet facilities. Free Parking on the road up top of the cliffs and a few steps to get down to beach.. lovely views from the top and viewing benches to sit on up here if you just fancy a stop to enjoy the view or watch the ships passing by on the horizon .

Tea house
Nestled just a two-minute stroll from the charming Bleak House, formerly known as Fort House, is the delightful "Havisham and Cratchit." This enchanting spot pays homage to Charles Dickens, who often visited this coastal town between 1837 and 1859. It was here that he crafted his beloved novel "David Copperfield," all while soaking in breathtaking views of the harbor.
Absolutely beautiful hidden treasure in Broadstairs. Amazing cakes and drinks, super friendly staff and stunning views. Great to see the loving restoration that has happened to such a lovely historic building. Five stars. Definitely worth a visit!!
Stacey U — Google review
Highly recommend this gorgeous spot for coffee and cake. It’s a beautiful room in a historic building (where Dickens wrote David Copperfield) and you can enjoy an excellent coffee ( great baristas) and peruse the eclectic vintage collection on sale, also selling local honey and handmade cards etc. It’s a really unique place.
Harriet D — Google review
Very nice tea rooms and on a sunny day would be lovely to sit outside looking out over the beach. The 2 people serving were very polite. The tea and carrot cake good. It's just abit hard to find but now I have will definitely go again. Some interesting items for sale .

Lovely cafe based at Bleak House. Inside and outdoor seating. Views over Viking Bay. Service a little slow. Good coffee, cakes looked good.

Morelli's Gelato is an iconic ice cream spot with a rich history dating back to the early 1900s when it was sold from a bicycle before finding its home in Harrods food hall. Situated in Broadstairs, Morelli's offers not only delicious gelato but also a nostalgic experience with its vintage soda fountain, jukebox, and retro decor.
If you’re in Broadstairs, you absolutely can’t miss Morelli’s, the retro Italian ice cream parlour that’s perfect for any occasion. Last Saturday, we stopped by for their authentic Italian thick hot chocolate, and it was incredible—rich, velvety, and warming in all the right ways. It felt like a little piece of Italy right on the coast! The atmosphere is charming and nostalgic, with that classic Italian flair that makes it a fun spot to relax. Bonus points for being dog-friendly—our furry babies were welcomed with a water bowl and dog treats which made the experience even better. Whether you’re after a cozy treat or one of their legendary ice creams, Morelli’s is definitely a must-visit when in Broadstairs. I’ll be back for sure!
Pat S — Google review
Absolutely love Morellis, have been a number of times- such a beautiful location & love the decor and the history of the place. The staff are very sweet and helpful - which is not easy as it’s often very busy (for good reason!) They really went the extra mile to find something we’d left behind by accident, which was so appreciated. I would love to see more vegan options there (although they have a great range of sorbets, and oat milk for drinks) & everyone I’ve been with who isn’t vegan has really enjoyed the gelato and huge sundaes!
Clare L — Google review
Good Hot Chocolate & Interesting Interior Stopped by Morelli’s Gelato in Broadstairs and had their thick Italian hot chocolate. It was rich and warming, a good choice for a cold day. The interior has a distinctive, retro feel, which adds some character to the place. It’s also dog-friendly, which is a nice touch. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Louis E — Google review
No idea what the fuss is about. There is a mile queue for the take away, so we sat down inside just to find out that you still have to go order and fetch the ice creams yourself. The restaurant appears to be messy and dirty, tables aren't really being cleared off and there is only one toilet. Upon ordering the tender is probably the rudest person in Broadstairs. When I changes my order from 2 Eton mess to 3, he rolled his eyes at me and made me feel really uncomfortable. The Eton mess says has chopped up strawberries inside but it was like a treasure hunt trying to find those. The "affocatos" were 80% over-sweetened vanilla ice cream and 20% burned esperesso. Waffle: don't bother. And to top all things up: 3 Eton mess', two affocatos, one waffle and one chocolate ice cream in a cup cost us a wooping £70 and no service with it whatsoever. AVOID!
Julia L — Google review
No trip to Broadstairs would be complete without a visit to Morelli's. Authentic Italian café and gelateria.
Matthew S — Google review
Best ice cream shop in the area. Have been coming here for over 30 years. First as a child with my parents and now as a parent with my children. Whenever we say do you want to get an ice cream both my kids assume this is the place I am referring to. If we don't go here to get said ice cream, they are very disappointed. Gets very busy during peak times but we'll worth the visit
Grant R — Google review
Absolutely delicious ice cream situated in a retro designed shop. Always try to come here when in Broadstairs - they have other branches but I like this one. They have classic flavours as well as new ones such as ‘dubai chocolates’. I usually go for an Affogato or hazelnut flavour. Portions aren’t huge and prices are expensive but this is an occasional treat - but it’s a whole experience.
Claire H — Google review
The gelato was tasty but the price for 2 small scoops was £6.40 which felt steep. Sorbet tasted very smooth and creamy (more like gelato than sorbet, but in a good way)

The Broadstairs Food Festival is a must-visit event in Kent, offering a wide selection of local produce, drinks, and delicious food. The festival features an array of culinary delights including baked goods, honeys, jams, cheeses, and ginger wine. Visitors can indulge in Himalayan dumplings and other delectable treats while enjoying the lively atmosphere and entertainment. Additionally, the festival showcases colorful pottery and various goods for sale.
Delicious food at this market, locally sourced. I would recommend it. Excellent experience. We could sit down to consume our food as there are lots of benches around the place. Lively atmosphere. They not only sell food but also a variety of goods like the colourful pottery shown in the photos.
Ione S — Google review
1st time visiting. We absolutely loved it. Wide variety of foods and drinks. Amazing day out
Katie M — Google review
Fabulous choices that sadly are in the main at best hard to access. The choices are great but sadly as it's popularity grown it has, unquestionably outgrown the venue. Travelled a round trip of over 100 miles, parking is a nightmare (not the festivals fault and appears to mainly be limited to 2 hours nearly 40% of which was taken in queuing and waiting for food). The volume of people is becoming unsustainable and getting close to hazardous with prams and wheelchairs having challenges in moving. Great idea urgently needs a new venue.
Paul F — Google review
Nice location on the front for the festival but even though there were stalls catering for dog treats and food, the event wasn't dog friendly.

Museum
Crampton Tower Museum is a volunteer-managed attraction that showcases exhibits, models, and artifacts related to trains and railways. The museum is housed in a historic water supply tower and provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about local history. It also offers a unique Santa's grotto experience for children at an affordable fee which includes free entry for accompanying adults, tea/coffee, and a ride on the miniature railway.
We had a really lovely time at the model railway exhibition here a few weeks ago. Staff are lovely and were very accommodating as had a 3 year old and 5 month old. They loved it (as did me and my husband) and will go again. Thanks for all the hard working volunteers.
Emma W — Google review
Great museum with friendly volunteers who are extremely knowledgeable about the history of the place. Highly recommended for public transportations lovers. Entrance fee is reasonable as they do need funds to maintain the place. It will help a lot if you could buy something or do a small donation.
Jou . — Google review
The guides were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and would have made this worth the very fair £4 entrance fee alone but there was plenty to explore in the three buildings included as well.
Pascal H — Google review
We went to meet Santa which was great and the museum and wasn't too bad either if you are into trains.
Harry I — Google review
Highly recommended! Super for kids. Lots of great model train set ups and related ephemera. Cool reservoir building with spectacular echo! Also lovely vintage model cars etc for sale for £2-3 each. Very welcoming local volunteer staff.
Stephen H — Google review
We went to visit Santa today. Such an amazing experience and certainly worth the admission fee, which was really reasonable. Cost includes a tour around the train museum, ride on the model train personal Santa visit and a gift 🎁 Highly recommended
Damarall W — Google review
The museum was a big hit with my children who didn’t want to leave it! There are a few electric trains that visitors can operate (by pressing a button) including ones that are pulled by engines from Thomas The Tank Engine. The museum is run by friendly volunteers. Great for kids. Check opening times before visiting because it’s open only briefly and not daily.
Alexandra H — Google review
Amazing Santa's grotto experience!!! Highly recommend this. Fabulous, well organised and so much better than walking into a shed and seeing Santa on the other side of a curtain! The fee is £7. For this all accompanying adults are free entry to the museum, tea and coffee available, and a ride on the miniture railway all included. The meeting santa experience was great, not cheesy at all. :) And no need to pre-book! If you take them to visit Santa this year, do this one!!!

This whimsical mini-golf course boasts 12 creatively designed holes, plus an extra challenge with its special 13th hole, making it an exciting experience for both kids and adults alike. Families can enjoy navigating through imaginative obstacles while sharing laughter and creating lasting memories together.
Cute little course just back from the beach, with a little café too, and dog friendly, so some good doggos to pet also. The twelve hole course is fun and not too challenging to make it an enjoyable pit-stop whilst out in Broadstairs. There's a 13th hole for the chance to win an extra round too. It was quite busy when we went, but everyone was pretty respectful of the rules, so you never had to wait long for your turn. Defo stop by for a round.
Rachel B — Google review
Cute and picturesque golf course. High above the beach but not far away. Its pretty with a small cafe. Good condition. Not very large. If you haven't paid you're not allowed to walk around the course (even if your friends are playing) so not too many photo opportunities. At the end you can play lucky hole 13 to win a free game.
Harri O — Google review
I had a lovely visit today with my two year old, who has recently discovered mini golf. The owner (I assume) was really friendly and I appreciate the price of £8 for my daughter and me; very good value. Little ones get a plastic club and ball, so it makes it a lot easier for them. I haven’t been for years and years as I don’t live in Broadstairs anymore, but all the nostalgia of coming here often as a kid came flooding back (although, it’s not £2 anymore, understandably 😂). We didn’t have food or drinks, but we had a lovely time. The course is super clean, well-maintained, the steps are well marked and the flower beds are lovely. You’d have to be having a really bad day to find something to critique them on. Hopefully we’ll be back by the end of the summer.
Maisie D — Google review
We loved this place. So charming and quaint. Would have got 5 stars if it was open longer than 17:00 on a Friday evening and served more food + beer.
Tony L — Google review
Came down half term for a quick day out for the kids just walking around and stumbled upon this place. Went in for a cuppa and a bite to eat for the kids. Was very busy but lovely place to sit down and take a break. Kids swindled a game of golf out of us and enjoyed it immensely
Alan D — Google review
Great fun if you want to do something different than sitting on the beach (which is just across the road). We had a great time playing through the 12 holes and then winning a free game on the 13th hole. Some very funny and flukey hole in one's can be had on this course. Price wise is cheap and there is also a cafe on site for those wanting to just watch and have a snack instead of playing.
Baz D — Google review
My seven year old would give this five stars because she beat her grandad over twelve holes. Well maintained, pretty cheap lollies as well compared to other parts of the seaside!

Over the years, it has transformed from a puppet theatre to a cartoon cinema and now serves as a hub for film enthusiasts.
This is a charming and friendly place, which is not as expensive as I thought. We paid £7: each, and they had drinks eg: (tea £1:20: and small bottles of wine) and sweets (and baged popcorn) for sale. There is a choice about where to sit, stalls or balcony and it was intimate and cosy watching the film. A point to note, there was a preview time and the film started 5 minutes after the advertised time, ie: no adverts! Brilliant! What a gem this place is, definitely recommend. No faults at all.

We enjoyed watching Black Bag at the Palace Cinema. When booking the tickets over the phone the staff member was very helpful with accessibility needs. The cinema is lovely and the seats are very comfortable. The screen is a big size. The staff are very attentive and enthusiastic. The chalkboard outside with the film next showing is very inviting. We are looking forward to going to future showings.

I hired The Palace Cinema for a private screening last weekend and from start to finish the owner Corinna couldn't have been more helpful. The Grade II listed cinema is amazing with all modern features including air-con but it retains it's old-fashioned charm. It was a real treat and all my guests absolutely loved it. Last year the cinema was voted 34th best in the whole of the UK and Ireland and it's not hard to see why. It's situated just a few hundred yards from Viking beach and we were blessed with great weather so we sat and enjoyed fish & chips for lunch. A special shout out to the cinema staff Chantal & Eva who helped out on the day. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this cinema to anyone and it's very reasonably priced. What are you waiting for? Check it out!

My favourite cinema. Excellent films at reasonable prices. We are so lucky to have this.

I love going here! The team are always so welcoming and their taste in films is excellent. I often go to their foreign language art house film showings. It's small and the screen is just perfect. A wonderful experience every time.

We visited the cinema last night, and were very taken with it. Housed in a grade 2 listed building, it is quite quirky. The 2 blokes ,at front of house, were very polite and friendly, and a good selection of snacks. We had a great view from the balcony, and the ladies were nice and clean. Car park just over the road. Would definitely return.
Jane G — Google review
This small but perfectly formed cinema is a delight to visit. You get that personal family friendly service with a big screen and sound experience. Drink and snack choices are good for such a small venue, coffee and wine are super. We love supporting our local cinema.

Louisa Bay is a peaceful cove located just past the clocktower, about a five-minute walk from Viking Bay. It offers uninterrupted views of a long stretch of golden sand and features rock pools for exploration. While smaller and quieter than neighboring Viking Bay, Louisa Bay provides a serene atmosphere perfect for those seeking relaxation. Visitors can enjoy good quality food from a beachside cafe and take leisurely walks along the beach from Broadstairs.
We went for a family beach Sunday and it was so much fun. Looked up and found some on road parking for the day as most posts for car parks advised of a tight entrance and that they get filled up quickly so didn’t want to be disappointed. Found a nice spot to chill and spread out blanket and enjoy some food and drinks on the beach. Some ‘not so friendly’ drop ins from true seagulls is to be expected so make sure you keep items close by. Some toilet and changing room facilities available and the life guards were on hand to make some announcements.
Uzo A — Google review
Beautiful beach with stunning views. It's dog friendly, and you can walk for miles either way of the bay . It has a great seasonal cafe that is really popular with locals and visitors. There's not many beaches in thanet that can beat louisa Bay for its charm any time of the year .
Cheryl S — Google review
Nice sandy beach, great for long walks and it has really good scenery. Nice cafes, pubs and restaurants to eat in.
Gemmalicious T — Google review
Louisa Bay is smaller and quieter then the neighbouring Viking Bay which is the major beach and has all of the attractions for the family. However if it's peace and quiet you are looking for with good quality food from a beachside cafe you are looking for then this small sandy beach spot knocks the spots off its neighbour. Please note no Lifeguards here.

This is a beautiful, clean beach and sea. It has an excellent cafe, serving good foods, cold drinks and a lot of ice creams. This beach is on the promenade onto the Broadstairs Viking Bay, then to Stone Gap.

Worst Bach I've been to as a beach reviewer who goes around the world there is atleast 10 jellyfish per square meter and gave me so much stings and the cafe is severely over priced 5 pounds for a drink? In anywhere else I could get the same drink for a pound

Dumpton Gap is a slightly secluded beach in Broadstairs, Kent, offering a serene escape from the crowds. Although not as well-known as other beaches in the area, it boasts stunning views of the sea and coastline when the tide recedes. This sandy bay is approximately 150 meters long and is ideal for activities such as surfing, swimming, and sunbathing.
Lovely beach, clean and relatively quiet. There is a band of rocks to low tide need shoes. Great cafe just on the promenade for coffee and a great bacon roll (lunch available too)
Jon W — Google review
Went there years ago, forgot how rocky it is when the tide is out. Nice little beach with toilets and cafe. Parking in the road but a steep slope down to the beach. Grass areas at the top .
Martin W — Google review
A lovely, sandy beach with a cafe and free on-street parking. There’s a steep slope down to the beach, but it’s not too much of an issue.
Neil S — Google review
Love this place. Plenty of on street free parking, good access down a slope to the dog friendly beach(all year round). There's a small cafe. You can walk to Broadstairs and Ramsgate easily asking the beach.... As long as the tide is out! Lovely cliffs all along both routes.
Ian W — Google review
Great place to visit. On road parking nearby is free. Then a slope passed the public toilets (which were ok) and you are greeted with a picturesque sandy beach. Our friends brought their dogs who had a lovely time. After our strole we then went back to the little cafe where decent coffee was served. We will be returning!
Paul L — Google review
Lovely spot for a walk with the dogs as dog friendly all year, and a sandy beach. A small cafe here too where we had a full English which was lovely. There are also toilets.
Russel W — Google review
Really lovely beach, a lot quieter than Viking Bay. A fascinatingly large amount of seaweed is here, and builds up en mass in sections which, from over the top, look like a satellite view of a river running through a rainforest. The only gripe I have is how rocky it is, particularly when going in the ocean - you will experience sharp rocks, and they will hurt. I ended up wearing my sandals in the ocean, which survived and did prevent pain. Highly recommended some form of padded aquatic shoes.
Robert ( — Google review
Went on Friday and Saturday and it was very quiet, around 15 other people. Visitors tend to stick to Viking Bay so this acts as a quieter alternative, although it is steep to climb so you might opt for the lift or steps at Viking Bay and then walk around to Dumpton Gap (right hand side) if you can’t manage

Scenic spot
Viking Bay is a charming tidal pool that can be easily missed at high tide. It's a popular spot on the Kent coast, with golden sands and picturesque buildings that make for great photo opportunities. The beach gets quite busy in the summer, but it offers excellent facilities for families. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the wind farm and beach huts from the boardwalk, which is wheelchair accessible. There are also shops and cafes nearby.
Viking Bay is a beautiful and charming beach with a lovely seaside vibe. The sandy beach is perfect for families, with calm waters great for swimming and paddling. There are plenty of cafes, ice cream shops, and restaurants nearby, making it easy to spend the whole day there. The promenade is perfect for a relaxing stroll with great views of the sea. It can get busy during the summer, but the atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming. A must-visit spot if you’re in Broadstairs!
Kaushik P — Google review
The beach at Broadstairs is in many respects one of the best family beaches on the Kent coast. It's sandy, nicely sheltered and absolutely a favourite with small children. Just behind the beach there's an excellent array of cafes and restaurants serving tasty seaside food so it's easy to spend the whole day here. In high season parking can be a bit of an issue because the nearby car park isn't the largest but you can usually find a spot.
Damian C — Google review
Wonderful beach, has everything that you need! Clean toilets, baby change, bars, cafes. Boardwalk was brilliant with the pram. We had a lovely time here. Felt very safe, beach wardens and lifeguards were working and they were very friendly to the children.
Rachel M — Google review
A relatively busy beach in the area. Not the cleanest as there were seaweeds all over the beach. But still not too bad.
Vijay J — Google review
It's a nice safe beach, with lifeguards and no dogs in summer. Plenty of sand, sheltered bay and a gradual slope, so not too deep. Toilets, bars nearby and plenty of places to eat. Even a few fair rides on the beach. Sadly gets a bit dirty with litter, although you do see some litter picking going on. Also, when we were there there was a lot of seaweed washed up, about 2-3 metres to wade through to get in and out of the water. Digging down into the sand can bring up a lot of smelly, rotting seaweed too. It also gets very busy in hot days, but there are other beaches a short walk away, which are often quieter.
Archoptical P — Google review
One of the widely popular beaches in Broadstairs. Located in a semi circular pattern and just at the end of the city, this sea beach is a relaxing gateway for summer lovers who just want to enjoy good sunshine with calm, soothing flow of water hitting the seabeach. The water is full of seaweeds which have been deliberately ledt behind to support marine life but otherwise water is crystal clear. There is a dedicated swimming area with lifeguards on site. The cafe located within the beach area has good supply of food. I would recommend visiting Viking Bay to anyone who will be in Broadstairs this summer. There will be some events at the end of July so if you planning to visit soon, save the leaflets to have added entertainment beside spending a calming day by the seaside. Viking Bay is just 5 mins down if you get off at Broadstairs railway station.
Khandker Q — Google review
Viking bay beach is a sandy beach. Ideal for families with children. However, would have to go through lots of mud before you can touch clean water. Nice walking path on the side ... With beautiful views of the ocean 🌊

Had a lovely walk in the sun. First, we walked to Stone Bay which was pretty with its different coloured beach huts. Then we walked back to the main beach in Broadstairs. We then walked from Louisa Bay to Dumpton Bay. It’s great if you need solid ground underfoot but if you don’t have any issue you can also walk along the beach. There are toilets at Dumpton Bay and then it’s a steepish walk to the top where you can walk along Western Esplanade back towards Broadstairs. There is also parking available along Western Esplanade. I believe it was free to park too which is definitely a bonus. Broadstairs is a great place to spend the day and I think it would be enjoyed by all. Young or old. 🙂 there was a lovely market on today too at Victoria Parade.

The Tartar Frigate is a historic 17th-century inn in Broadstairs, offering stunning views of Viking Bay. The traditional-style restaurant on the first floor provides panoramic views and features live folk music in the pub. Head chef Tom Chalklin specializes in seafood dishes, such as Mediterranean seafood salad and roast monkfish wrapped in Parma ham. Additionally, there are options for carnivores like Barbary duck breast on a sweet potato rosti.
Excellent service, lovely staff that were very polite and great to chat to. The food was really good, especially the scallops which were on the chef's specials. The crab was really good and the fish was soft and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was incredible and I highly recommend this place for a cozy seaside meal.

We visited this lovely seaside restaurant located on the first floor, with stunning beach views right outside the window. I highly recommend going around sunset for the most perfect scenery. Even during the heatwave in the UK summer, the air conditioning was excellent, making it very comfortable to dine indoors. Prices are reasonable, portions are generous, and the food is absolutely delicious. We ordered the hot seafood platter, lobster pasta, and pork belly – all of them were amazing. Highly recommended!
Gun M — Google review
We received the most excellent service dining here! Everyone was so friendly and nice. The atmosphere was very cozy with a nice sea view. The seafood dishes were also really good, we got both the hot starters, mixed seafood share plate and linguini and it was plenty for 4 of us. Thank you for a wonderful meal

We just had a fantastic lunch with even better service. I called to check we could bring our dog and was so pleased to hear it is super dog friendly! Which was proven when Bernie received a treat immediately on arrival from Chantal. (He was also doted on throughout lunch) The food was generous, tasty and obviously really fresh. We had the fish pie and scampi, both absolutely delicious. I highly recommend, it is so close to the water. Thank you!

This was an amazing seafood restaurant we went to whilst on holiday last week In Broadstairs and we loved it from walking in. The service from the waitress and waiter was great. friendly and helpful advising on courses. The seafood we chose was amazing perfectly cooked and served , my husband had lemon sole and I had sea bream. Delicious flavours. The desserts were stunning too. The best crème brûlée ever tasted. Would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning.

Lovely place, well worth a second visit. The scallops in the starter were generously sized, and the fish portions were very generous as well. I think it was the biggest portion of ray wing I have ever seen. The catch-of-the-day version of ray wing was clearly trying to compensate for the smaller size, but it was still satisfyingly large. The addition of crayfish brought variety, and I really enjoyed the seaweed that was served. The hosting team is v good, clearly working hard to impress and a pleasure to watch.
Gennady B — Google review
Food and service in the restaurant with its nice views were excellent. We hadn't booked and were here for the Blues Festival, so we're lucky to get a table. You can eat cheaper in Broadstairs, but I'm not sure you'll eat better! We returned a day later to catch one of the bands at the festival and although the pub was packed, the service was friendly, fast, and efficient . There's a wide selection of regular drinks as you'd expect, but the Guinness gets a nod as it was spot on. The ale drinkers we were with were equally impressed with their brews. All in all, a great pub, great food, drinks and staff, but we'd recommend you book if eating in the restaurant, especially at busy times. Maybe see you there for the next Blues Bash!

We sat upstairs, overlooking the sea….. Beautiful British Seaside Bliss! Every member of staff were exceptionally polite and friendly. In fact, we were sat in earshot of the kitchen where the chefs’ laughter and camaraderie set the tone for the cheerful atmosphere. Our prawn cocktail’s were heaped with prawns. The fish and chips were served piping hot and were scrummy! Thank you to our outstanding waitress, Lottie! Shame we do not live nearby because based on our visit we would be regular customers. Thank you to you all!

The fish and chips were an instant classic — perfectly crispy batter, fresh white fish, and delicious fries. It was a comforting, well-executed dish that didn’t feel greasy or heavy. The soft shell crab 🍔 burger, however, was the real standout. The crab was expertly fried, with just the right crunch, tucked into a soft bun with fresh toppings, avocado, yummy bacon 🥓 and a sauce that tied everything together beautifully. It’s not something you find just anywhere, and they nailed it. The staff were attentive throughout the meal. They made sure everything was running smoothly and that we were well taken care of. Drinks 🍹 were great, too.

Went here with my family to celebrate my birthday. Lovely atmosphere but waited 50 mins for the first dish to be delivered to the table (they forgot about us and started making the food when my dad reminded them 40 mins since paying) the last dish arrived 56 mins since paying. After all that waiting it would’ve been nice to receive complimentary dessert/another drink/anything, but nothing was given. The food wasn’t too bad, some better than others, fish & chips and cheeseburger was good but poke bowl not so much (shame :( ). Like I said a lovely atmosphere and you can see the sea from a lot of the pub. Although the food wasn’t too bad, would probably only return for a drink, but honestly I don’t think I would return.

For the whole experience was amazing, I cannot express enough how amazing the team was. While there was delays with the starters, we got the drinks compensated for the delay. Me and my boyfriend were surprised but happy. When it came to the main course. While mistakenly reading the menu on my part, I didn't see any mentions of. "Mussels" and somehow read it as a pasta dish, with the risk of my crustacean allergy was high. I chose to swap the dish while being embarrassed. Since then it went on, the team was lovely, the chefs are hard working, everyone was amazing. Thank you guys for the experience. You've also been recieved a personal written thank you whilst an apology for my mistake. I will definitely return back next year.

Visited for the 2nd time and can highly recommend this place. The food was lovely, not the cheapest but definitely worth the money for the quality and location. What really gives this place 5 stars is the staff and service. In particular a young chap called Tommy. I urge the management to give this guy a pay rise! He was the friendliest and politest individual I've ever had the fortune to be served by. We visited November 5th and the place was packed due to the firework display so the team were super busy. Tommy maintained a cheerful and professional service throughout and really couldn't do enough for us considering how busy it was. I really hope the owners know how lucky they are to have this guy. I'd employ him in a heartbeat!!

They do lovely picture frames there and we are very pleased with them. This is one of our diamond pictures we had done and they did a great job and a lovely frame too.

I had a print which I wanted done a certain way and with the help of the girl in store, who was very helpful , chose a frame and mount and I can't express in words how happy I was to be presented with the final product. I can not recommend this framing shop enough. I will definitely be going back. Thank you for making my day

Absolutely fantastic team. Been using this gallery for a while now. This time around, they spent loads of time helping me choose mounts and frames for my small collection of rock and film posters. The end result…I couldn’t be happier, they look stunning in my man-cave! Thank you.

Friendly knowledgeable staff. I had a Ltd Edition print framed. Was given sound advice from the mounting through to the glass. Opted for museum glass and couldn't be happier with the end product 👍

The Shell Grotto in Margate is a fascinating and mysterious underground cave adorned with 4.6 million shells, including cockle, whelk, mussel, and oyster shells. Discovered by chance in 1835, its origins remain unknown, giving rise to various theories about its purpose - from being a Masonic Temple to a secret meeting place or even a hiding spot.
What a wonderful place. I think that this place deserves more visibility to the tourists than it has got at the moment. The place is truly the work of someone with a fine artist mind and a lot of patience and dedication. It is beautifully done. Thankfully it is now preserved well so the general public can enjoy the lovely artistic work.
Vijay J — Google review
The Shell Grotto is definitely a unique and interesting place to visit - I just wish it was a little bigger/there was a little more to see. Fascinating series of passages and small rooms beautifully decorated with shells. And how and why it was done is still a mystery. I enjoyed reading all the history and info. Recommend. Only a 10/15 min walk from the old town (and we also saw a lovely Tudor house).
Steve W — Google review
Visited the Shell Grotto and really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly. And there's a nice selection of items you can buy in the shop. Definitely worth seeing. It was quite busy when we went in Sunday, but you can explore it in about 15 min. A short but very interesting experience.
Dineshika S — Google review
Interesting place to visit and cheap activity. It takes approx 10 mins to walk around you can make it longer if you really want to inspect the design. But it is very small so if you area bit wary of tight spaces be aware this may not be for you. They have some interesting facts before you head down to the grotto. The team are friendly and the gift shop is lovely if a bit small when there are lots of people. Definitely worth a visit
Gill G — Google review
Much smaller than expected but still very interesting with a little bit of history and alot of skill. I feel the entry price is far too expensive for something that took me 5 minutes to walk around, but for someone particularly interested in the artwork and fancy something different to look at, its still good. The gift shop is a must see as has plenty of gorgeous seashells and a few other pretty items for sale. No toilets or parking, if your lucky you can find free street parking nearby.
Grace P — Google review
Visiting the Shell Grotto was an unforgettable experience. The moment I stepped inside, I couldn’t believe my eyes — every surface is covered in intricate patterns made entirely from seashells. It’s both mysterious and magical, and truly unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. This is absolutely a must-see destination for anyone. After exploring the grotto, I enjoyed browsing the charming gift shop, which offers a wonderful selection of seashells and other unique treasures to take home as souvenirs.
Ertuğrul A — Google review
Stunning place decorated with many shells. Definitely worth a visit. There is also a shop to buy all sorts of small things. Not far, 3-4 minutes walk, there's a carpark with a pound stretcher, there the parking is free for two hours.
Peter ( — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely mesmerizing! The Shell Grotto is one of Margate's hidden gems and a truly unique experience. From the moment you descend into this mysterious underground tunnel, you're transported into something magical. The intricate shell mosaics covering every surface are breathtaking - it's incredible to think that millions of shells were carefully arranged to create these beautiful patterns and designs. The craftsmanship is extraordinary, and the fact that we still don't know who created it or exactly when adds to the mystique. The audio guide is excellent and really helps you appreciate the history and theories surrounding this fascinating place. The lighting creates a wonderful atmospheric experience that makes the shells shimmer and come alive. Perfect for families, history buffs, or anyone looking for something completely different. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the gift shop has some lovely souvenirs. Don't miss this incredible piece of Margate's heritage - it's unlike anywhere else in the world! Well worth the visit and the ticket price. Highly recommended!

Our favourite dining place when visiting Broadstairs - lovely view over the sea from the outdoor tables, good food and friendly staff!

Absolutely loved this place. Amazing fish and chips , brilliant position on the beach with great views. £80 for 5 meals and soft drinks which was well worth the money. Staff were all very professional and friendly.
Danny L — Google review
I came to Broadstairs looking for lobster, none in Broadstairs. So I settled for the Pavilion restaurant. Big place loads of seats indoors and outdoors. Usual menu that everyone seems to be doing. I settled on a latte while I chose, smaller than usual. I asked what the fish was reply was cod. So I had Fish, chips and mushy peas. Fish size only medium the batter was good except I don't like skin on fish so half the batter was wasted. Not much peas and a novelty tartar sauce dipped lemon. So no squeezing. All came hot. All the food I saw being served looked ok.

Lovely venue and balcony drinks to start. Staff friendly and helpful. Food absolute delicious
Tracy P — Google review
Great spot for food. We sat out on the terrace and had the seafood ciabattas with chips... absolutely sublime. Really great service, with a friendly team, and even better food. I saw lots of people having fish and chips, and it looked delicious too. With many levels to sit on, and options indoors too, there are plenty of tables to sit at, even on busy days.
Rachel B — Google review
Lunch for 3 here today and the Caesar salad and crayfish ciabatta were excellent: plenty of good quality chicken and fish, well prepared and presented. The pan-fried fishcakes however were a total disappointment: tiny portion of dry potato «cakes », no taste of fish and extremely overpriced at £9. They were so bland and far from anything resembling a fish cake that they were either processed or a very clever imitation of it. The salad leaves (side, extra) were wilted - a shame since the cucumber and tomato slices were fresh. This was a big let down to our meal - surprising since the location is perfect, the staff pleasant and the food usually to a good standard.
Debbie B — Google review
Restaurant is amazing on a sunny day even better, food is great, most staff is very polite and helpful, however i am concerned about the pub area, where i can see loads of staff but only a few would be there to help or take the order, even more concerned about the short older waitress who clearly said 'ill get the drinks to your table' thn 30 mins later, after asking a waiter from the restaurant, he came back saying ' your drinks are ready at the end of the bar'.....what? second time, went again for another aperol spritz....same lady came with the drink, put it on the bar and left not even looking at me...that spoilt it a bit, hope management can address this quickly.

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
Nestled in the charming seaside town of Broadstairs, "Star of the Sea" is a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic fish and chips experience. This delightful eatery has earned its reputation as a local favorite, thanks to its freshly prepared dishes that showcase perfectly battered haddock and cod. The generous portions are ideal for sharing, making it perfect for those beachside picnics or cozy meals after a day exploring the intimate streets of this breezy destination.
Amazing fish and chips; all cooked to order; award winning chips were plentiful and tasty; real friendly service from the guys who recommended the saithe which was not only tasty but also only £5 with chips…unheard of value for money. Shall be going every night at this rate!

Came to Broadstairs for some training and popped into Star of the Sea! Lovely fish and chip shop just before you walk down to the beach. I was met by Jodie, I think and she was patient with me as I made my meal choice. Chips were hot and crispy and the fish was super fluffy in the middle with the most amazing batter. If you’re looking somewhere to eat when you’re in broadstairs give them a try you won’t leave disappointed.

Very light batter that is perfect for the fish. Big portions, got a large cod to share between 2
Angelina C — Google review
The price of traditional fish and chips has salty risen over the last couple of years, so it's more of an occasional than a regular treat for us. That said, when it's time for fish and chips, Star of the Sea serves up delicious, freshly battered cod (and other fish), and a generous-sized portion of tasty, crisp chips. Last week, we had a small cod in a bap, medium cod, and regular chips (plenty for two), for £19. There's a good selection on the menu if you don't just want fish, including mushy peas :)

This Easter Weekend we ordered our takeaway from our favourite Chip shop in Broardstairs, We had an excellent meal fish & chips were super tasty not greasy & fish was the best fluffy white cod and crispy batter.. Super fast delivery from a happy chap! Thanks so much guys. Always happy to eat from this establishment 👏

Everything you would expect from a fish and chip shop. Food was freshly fried and very tasty. Friendly and helpful service. Prices are what you expect to pay. Got the food takeaway and ate down on the beach ⛱️

Came to Broadstairs for the day which is a rarity. We wanted fish and chips for lunch. Food here was only okay - we've definitely had better fish and chips in Thanet. This was very greasy and you don't get a lot for the price. We get more for less money at Newington fish bar to feed a family of 5. The staff were absolutely miserable - I know they're on minimum wage but in a customer facing role, customer service and people skills are key! I probably wouldn't have been leaving quite as negative a review if the staff hadn't been so miserable and actually smiled and gave a friendly welcome.

The Chapel Bar and Bookshop in Broadstairs offers an intimate dining experience in a Grade II listed former St Marys Chapel. This quirky bar also serves as a second-hand bookshop, creating a unique atmosphere for visitors. With a great selection of ales, lagers, and ciders, along with delicious cheeses and nibbles, it's the perfect spot for an evening drink with friends. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are always ready to offer advice on choosing drinks.
Great combo of a pub and a library! It’s a very silent place to enjoy your drink with choices of more than thousands of book around you

Pleased to see this place is still going. It's a quirky building and the pub is full of books. You can buy them, read them or ignore them. Beer is good and the atmosphere is Boho but not in an irritating way.
Matthew C — Google review
Lovely staff and an authentic venue filled with old books and interesting people. It seems to change every time I go in there, so this weekend it was a more metal band/young crowd, but a mix of all ages and pretty friendly, though an extremely drunk guy at the bar fist bumped me then decided he wanted to fight me but was too pi****d to get off his bar stool. Idiot. Nonetheless, it was a great visit and I always look forward to going back. Highly recommend.
Andrew W — Google review
The Chapel the name read and beer prices were mentioned on display which got my attention, filled with a library of books inside and mentioned chess club on wednesdays after 7pm. I simply had to go in. Everyone was welcome and all allowed to play with a mix of all age groups which was amazing. Super cool locals I would say. Staff was super amazing and the kindest souls, with as simple a gesture as to provide a glass of water without asking when they felt you weren’t feeling well ; which is hard to find nowadays.
Savio D — Google review
I visited this pub/bookshop/micro pub on a recent visit to Broadstairs. The bar had three real ales and a selection of real cider on sale. One cider was on hand pump. The beer was of good quality and cheap compared to many seaside tourist pubs at £4.30 a pint. Inside the walls are covered in books. The main bar is down some steps in the chapel to the rear. Above the bar is a second sitting area. The music being played was 80s/90s

Turning the music up to full volume at quarter past 10 to get your guests to leave is NOT how you run a successful pub. A polite word would have been enough. It'll be the pub across the road for us next time. Pity the chapel used to be a pub with a special atmosphere.
Christopher J — Google review
Visited 26th July 25. Very disappointing on this occasion. There is only one toilet which was dirty. Beer stale and overpriced. We left 3/4 of our pints. Owner needs to spend some money on updating toilets and management of beer. Yes it is a unique pub but we won't be going back as it currently is.

Sat my grandson on a boat/canoe and I perched on the other one Some rude person came up who I assume was associated with the surf club and said “move” as I should have asked consent! Booked a £40 “kayak tour” which was really just getting into kayaks and doing some lengths of the sea with an instructor keeping watch. More could have been done to give us the tour and talk about the different bays and landscapes. Don’t feel like I got my money’s worth but this may be due to the fact that the instructor had to keep paying attention to some in the group who were struggling. However, overall a nice experience and lovely to be on the water.

I cannot comment on the rooms as we only went to the restaurant. Yes, for the location and excellent sea view. The service, via QR code, was quick, efficient and always friendly. The food though was all a bit two star. Sure, it caters to local taste, fish and chips, burgers, things fried, and stodgy bulked out with bread or chip. These can be done well but the four of us had the feeling it is done en masse with little care and not necessarily the best quality of produce. The bacon for example, on the club sandwiches was more fat than meat. The chicken, cheap supermarket cuts. Taste is sacrificed over speed. A great view and service for sure but very disappointing food.

King George VI Memorial Park, located on the cliff tops between Ramsgate and Broadstairs, was once the estate of wealthy financier Sir Moses Montefiore. The park features walking trails with coastal views, a quaint cafe housed in an Italianate Glasshouse, and a children's play area. The highlight of the park is the 18th-century Italianate Conservatory with its delicate cast iron frame and scalloped glass panels creating mesmerizing shadows inside.
A lovely open green space to run around with the kids, have a picnic or take your dog for a walk. There is a small cafe here and public toilets and the whole area is kept clean and tidy. King George's park is alway a great place to be, it feels much safer as it has more foot traffic the others in the area, but that doesn't mean you won't get your privacy, there are about five different feilds to relax in, the larger of them is farthest from the main gate and is usually the most quiet, it does catch the wind. the play area is sheltered from the wind with trees all around it, wish i knew that before having my picnick in the cold haha. I feel the food from the keyosk is a tad overpriced but what do you expect. it's better to bring your own. I haven't been to the glass house in a long time but i remember them doing lovely cake.

Lovely budget Hotel. Clean and well appointed room. A very big room and bathroom. Staff are attentive even helping carry our bags. We were informed when booking that the hotel is located on a busy road and some traffic noise is to be expected. Whole traffic noise was evident it did not prevent a good nights sleep with the windows open, in the morning when the road became a little busier simply closing the window reduced traffic noise allowing my wife to sleep in until 9 am. The restaurant is excellent with generous good quality food served by very attentive staff. All round a great place to stay.

Stopped for a 2 night stay at a very good price. Considering where the pub is situated. Can’t find fault. Beech 10 min walk away. Clean and tidy rooms and shower. We didn’t opt for breakfast. Booking, check in & out was very easy. The fella on the phone was very helpful. Made our short stay on the south coast very welcoming. Thank you !

Food was amazing. Live locally so visit often. Had soup of the day. Leek and potatoe with Focaccia bread. Bread would be better sliced to spread the amazing butter rather than served in 2 chunks. Still thoroughly enjoyed though. Xx

Good pub food and great real ale at very competitive prices. Staff very pleasant and competent. I'm from Yorkshire so know all about good value for money so get yourselves there and get some snap and a few pints in you!🍗🍻

When we're on holiday in the area (twice a year), we have come to the Red Lion for lunch for 6 years running. The car park is quite small for the pub. In the past, the food and surroundings were excellent - for example, the fishcakes were delicious and the lemon meringue pie piled high with meringue. Today the food and surroundings were average. The place was clean and tidy but there were plastic flowers and leaves as decoration. My husband had the pie of the day (steak and cheese) which looked fantastic but had pieces of bone inside. The vegetables were cooked al dente which were then too hard for his teeth 😒. My squash and chickpea curry was a good sized portion and tasted fine. The waitress offered us water for the table and was pleasant but couldn't work out 10% of the bill (in her head) to add as a tip, so we just rounded the bill up for her.

Had an amazing Sunday lunch. The food was superb, a good traditional roast dinner at very reasonable price. The service was first class with such friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend 👌

I’ve never tried the rooms but this pub is so friendly I recently lost my mum and I was worried about going out but I have been here three times no other place I would want to go. The food is top notch aswrll I recommend the pork belly!!

4 real ales, Youngs and Harveys plus 2 guests. We had good ale and locally recognised. We had dinner but should have had the Thursday night 30% off steak. I photgraphed the board but didn't read it. Proper pub that is very clean, including the toilets. Monthly quiz and live music.

Joss Bay, located between Margate and Broadstairs in Kent, is a 200-meter sandy cove surrounded by picturesque white chalk cliffs. This family-friendly beach offers various amenities such as a surf school, beach loungers, and a cafe. The bay is named after a notorious local smuggler from the 1700s and is popular with both families and adventurers.
Joss Bay Beach is as lovely and spacious as always! Plenty of room to relax, with toilets and a car park conveniently available. Perfect spot for a family vacation. There’s a bit of seaweed and some stones in the water, so be careful as they can be sharp, especially for kids. On a sunny day, it’s absolutely perfect! Plus, you can enjoy ice cream, bars, and delicious fish and chips nearby.
Ananya's C — Google review
I visited Joss bay on midsummers day (33 degrees Celsius) for a beach trip and it is a great sandy beach. Parking was hard to come by but eventually we paid £5 to park in a field nearby. The sand was mainly clean and even though the beach was very crowded it was possible to find space. The sea while accessible and refreshing was not clean either in looks or smell. The lifeguards were very helpful and gave my friend a plaster when he cut his toes on the rocks.
Fatima L — Google review
Worth the visit for sure. Not busy at all and sea is usually calm and suitable for kids. Lifeguard available, toilets and parking as well. Some see weeds but not enough to ruin the experience. Sand bank was huge and mostly clean. This beach specifically has a gelly fish warning. Luckily all good for us, but is worth informing people. The only thing missing is a bar/cafe nearby. They have only a shop renting chairs and umbrellas. Careful with seaguls, they are quite annoying ans invasive

Ignore any bad review. Joss Bay beach is the real deal. The nicest beach in the whole Thanet Stretch. Safe. Clean. Amenities. Rock pooling. Shade (if you need it). Peace. Views. An absolute must for any visitor or beach lover.

Good pubs and vibe is all fine and loved it but water was with more weed near shore and full of rocks on one side. Overall it is a very good beach on a sunny day

Beautiful golden sandy beach Good for kids fun Lots of parking place , standard price. Not much food to get, so take plenty of food with you.
Arjun R — Google review
Great sandy beach, large area to accommodate a large number of people. Clean ladies & gents toilets, cafe and shop. Also paddleboards, sun loungers and umbrellas toe rent. Small Ringo parking available, field across the parking lot also available to park. Overall a great experience on a sunny windless day
D V — Google review
Nice sandy beach with parking and toilet facilities available. The water can be a little rough during high tide and also many sea plants floating around. The place can get busy on a good day, so getting there early is important. The beach has a RNLI lifeguard and also a small store for ice cream but it’s expensive. The beach also has a small For Hire beach chairs available and one shower and feet wash station.

We go often to the casino and the staff lately have improved 100% . Next we would like Russell's put back on the menu as we do miss the options
Peter G — Google review
Good food, bar service. Good range of table/machines. Could do with more machines and some sort of comp system.
Jim G — Google review
I’ll deal with the negatives first…. Food - nothing short of disgusting and heavily overpriced. The chef must of got his recipes from Newington council estate. Rewards/comps - zero reward for your play and zero loyalty. Slots/tables - variety of games to choose from. Management - the lack of organisation is comical. You have the opportunity to attract people within a 60 miles radius being the only casino in the area, but somehow manage to run it into the ground. The poker room is a shambles despite the current poker staffs best effort, the book stops with management who refuse to listen to players and staff. The only manager to my knowledge who actually listens and seems willing is “Marcin”. Very polite bloke and always friendly. Also Ken who again is very friendly and is easy to talk to and deal with. Maybe have a suggestion box in the poker room and listen to your customers, or you will lose it all together through private games and other venues.

A big thank you to Dolphin Inn for welcoming volunteers from Litter Picking Watch Romney Marsh into their establishment and providing them with food and drinks. It was greatly appreciated.

This is one of the most stunning pubs I've been too, the barmaids are friendly, the place looks great with lots of quirky pictures on the walls, even the locals are friendly to those from the wrong parts of London. You honestly couldn't find a better place to relax. Ps this place isn't filled with people from the worst parts of London, that was just me, passing through.

St Laurence-In-Thanet Church in Ramsgate is a pleasant and well-maintained place with amiable locals. It is conveniently located nearby, making it easily accessible for those looking to visit or work there. This historic church has an intriguing past, having been a place of worship since 1062. Visitors can explore the churchyard or attend the Sunday service at 10:00 am, which features a choir and organist.

St Laurence Church is the oldest building in Ramsgate, dating back to around 1062. It was founded as a chapel of ease to Minster Abbey, which was the main religious center in Thanet at the time. The original church was quite simple, consisting of just a nave and tower. However, it was extended in the 12th and 13th centuries to include a chancel and side aisles. In 1439, the tower was struck by lightning and had to be rebuilt. The townsfolk raised the tower to its present height, even though this made it more likely to be struck by lightning again. However, fortunately, this has not happened since. The interior of the church is a mix of Norman, Early English, and Victorian styles. The nave arcade has Norman arches around the central tower, supported on large Norman pillars. Some of the capitals are carved with small devil's heads. The stained glass windows are mostly Victorian, but there are some earlier examples, including a window depicting the martyrdom of St Laurence. St Laurence Church is a Grade I listed building, which means it is considered to be of special historical or architectural interest. It is a popular tourist destination, and it is also used for regular worship services. Here are some other interesting facts about St Laurence Church: The churchyard contains the graves of several notable people, including Sir William Garrow, a famous lawyer, and Dr. Collis Browne, the inventor of chlorodyne. The church was used as a hospital during the Napoleonic Wars. The church was damaged during the bombing of Ramsgate in World War II, but it was restored to its former glory.

Nestled in the heart of the community, the Sarah Thorne Theatre is a beloved local gem that offers an inviting atmosphere for all who visit. Throughout the year, it hosts a diverse array of performances, including its much-anticipated annual pantomime each December. Visitors rave about the friendly staff and reasonable prices for refreshments like drinks and snacks. The theatre's charm lies not only in its familiar faces from past productions but also in welcoming new talent each season, ensuring there's always something fresh to enjoy.
Newly discovered venue for us. We went last night to a most excellent piano recital. We were made most welcome and although the building looks a little tired and an unlikely theatre venue, don't let that put you off. Will definitely be going again.

I visited this charming theatre recently too watch a pantomime with too special needs young ladies unfortunately halfway through the show one of the young ladies got upset and distressed and had to take her outside to calm down on returning back to our seats the female staff member was extremely rude and discrimative about my daughter then more or less shoved us through the door by my coat making the girls even more distressed. I'm sad to say I will be never returning and making a official complaint sadly

We go quite often to the Sarah Thorne Theater. It has a nice atmosphere and we love to go there to see a variety of shows during the year, but also the Pantomime in December. Everybody is very friendly as soon as you arrive, the shows are very varied and excellent and the prices for the drinks, snacks or ice-creams are very reasonable. We are very happy to support this local theater which played a great part in the local community and every time we look at it's website, we find a show we want to attend.

This fantastic community theatre is currently under threat from kcc who see it as an asset of disposal. As the reform party candidate for the kcc elections in May 2025 I will if elected be fighting for it to be an asset to the community of Broadstairs and beyond.

I've always loved the Sarah Thorne annual panto, and this year's offering, 'Sleeping Beauty', didn't disappoint. The familiar faces of the older cast is part of the charm - like putting on the proverbial pair of comfortable old slippers - but it's also great to see new, young faces in the cast every year, too. Plus the dancers just up their game every season! Many thanks to Michael Wheatley-Ward, John Goodrum and the entire cast and crew for another delightful production. Sam Grant.

I have known Lana for a while and always admired her many artistic talents, covering ceramics, oils, acrylics, portraits and fine porcelain miniatures. Everything she creates is made with love and passion and shows in the quality of her work. This is the second commission Lana has done for me and I'm sure it won't be the last! Thank you Lana and I hope you continue to grow and that many others can enjoy your unique art work.

Eagle House, originally known as Admiralty House, has a fascinating history that dates back to June 21, 1815. This charming establishment gained its nickname when Major Percy returned to Broadstairs with a striking aquiliform French standard captured at the Battle of Waterloo. To commemorate the bicentennial of this historic battle, a replica of the eagle was crafted and proudly placed atop Eagle House during its restoration in 2010.
(Translated by Google) Former Admiralty House, which since Major Percy returned to Broadstairs on June 21, 1815 with this aquiliform French standard, captured at the Battle of Waterloo, became known colloquially as "Eagle House." On the occasion of the bicentennial of the conflict, a replica of said eagle was made and in 2010 during the restoration of the house it was placed on its roof.
