Bay
Nestled on the southeastern coast of England, between Margate and Ramsgate, lies the charming seaside town of Broadstairs. This classic British destination boasts sandy beaches, colorful beach huts, and an array of antique shops. The town has been a favorite retreat for city dwellers for centuries, including renowned author Charles Dickens. One of its main attractions is Viking Bay, a picturesque stretch of coastline adorned with vibrant beach huts and fishing boats.
Amazing beach with everything you could want within walking distance. There is a lift down onto the beach.
Jason S — Google review
There is a copious amount of golden sand on this beach. Soft silky and smoothe, that slithers in between your toes. Just how we like it!
Bee M — Google review
Great beach with local bars, restaurants and shops. Lifeguards on duty and easy to park although no internet available at the car park so had to pay by cash.
Sarah H — Google review
Not as beautiful as Botany Bay, Kingsgate Bay, Jess Bay and Stone Bay thay are wild ... It's very over-populated with too many businesses. It's a very urban beach but English style I liked the sea hats but sea gulls are pretty wild here, if you eat they fly on you and also get your food away be careful it happened to me when I put down my take away box ...they stole it! Lol Nice fish and chips places and a few gift shops and art galleries are also worth a try!
Daniela M — Google review
A beautiful cozy flat sandy bay that has everything you need for a fantastic day out at the beach, as there is so much to do around this area whether you like relaxing, walking or eating, this place has it all along with its amazing history, so much to see.
Tracey A — Google review
Typically pleasant British beachfront with numerous options for food and drink, including reasonably priced fish and chip shops. The beach is sandy with some rocky parts a little further into the surf. Lots of seaweed grows at these points, and the beach can be rather green - but it's perfectly safe to swim. There are the typical seaside amenities nearby, such as shops and stalls selling beachwear, buckets, swimming gear, etc. It gets very crowded at peak times. My photo shows the end of the day when most people have already left - and it's still busy. Safe for families with children but is quite loud, as it attracts a lot of large groups, teenagers and Bluetooth speakers. For a quieter visit, try Stone Bay just a few mins walk Northward along the coast. Stone Bay has only a single vegan (I think!) beach shack for food, but it's far more peaceful and much less crowded.
Jon N — Google review
Lovely beach with plenty of food, cafes and shops. Beware of the seagulls when you have food with you. They try to steal your food. I once was their prey. 😥
Aom A — Google review
Viking Bay in Broadstairs is a sandy beach less than a couple of hours from London by train. There are amenities such as toilets, food kiosks, showers and lifeguards. The beach itself is full of seaweeds so to me it did not make it the prettiest beach. Broadstairs itself was a very gentile town. There are several walking trails in the area which can be followed and is well sign posted. There is a Dickens museum, as Charles Dickens apparently loved staying in Broadstairs. On the clifftop there were various pop-ups selling a variety of goods. There is also a children's play area in the same vicinity. It is a lovely area and worth a visit for a day out with the kids. The toilets could be kept in better condition though.

Local history museum
Museum
Crampton Tower Museum is a volunteer-managed attraction that showcases exhibits, models, and artifacts related to trains and railways. The museum is housed in a historic water supply tower and provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about local history. It also offers a unique Santa's grotto experience for children at an affordable fee which includes free entry for accompanying adults, tea/coffee, and a ride on the miniature railway.
We had a really lovely time at the model railway exhibition here a few weeks ago. Staff are lovely and were very accommodating as had a 3 year old and 5 month old. They loved it (as did me and my husband) and will go again. Thanks for all the hard working volunteers.
Emma W — Google review
Great museum with friendly volunteers who are extremely knowledgeable about the history of the place. Highly recommended for public transportations lovers. Entrance fee is reasonable as they do need funds to maintain the place. It will help a lot if you could buy something or do a small donation.
Jou . — Google review
The guides were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and would have made this worth the very fair £4 entrance fee alone but there was plenty to explore in the three buildings included as well.
Pascal H — Google review
We went to meet Santa which was great and the museum and wasn't too bad either if you are into trains.
Harry I — Google review
Highly recommended! Super for kids. Lots of great model train set ups and related ephemera. Cool reservoir building with spectacular echo! Also lovely vintage model cars etc for sale for £2-3 each. Very welcoming local volunteer staff.
Stephen H — Google review
We went to visit Santa today. Such an amazing experience and certainly worth the admission fee, which was really reasonable. Cost includes a tour around the train museum, ride on the model train personal Santa visit and a gift 🎁 Highly recommended
Damarall W — Google review
The museum was a big hit with my children who didn’t want to leave it! There are a few electric trains that visitors can operate (by pressing a button) including ones that are pulled by engines from Thomas The Tank Engine. The museum is run by friendly volunteers. Great for kids. Check opening times before visiting because it’s open only briefly and not daily.
Alexandra H — Google review
Amazing Santa's grotto experience!!! Highly recommend this. Fabulous, well organised and so much better than walking into a shed and seeing Santa on the other side of a curtain! The fee is £7. For this all accompanying adults are free entry to the museum, tea and coffee available, and a ride on the miniture railway all included. The meeting santa experience was great, not cheesy at all. :) And no need to pre-book! If you take them to visit Santa this year, do this one!!!

Stone Bay is a serene and less crowded Blue Flag beach located in the seaside town of Broadstairs, nestled between the popular Kent beaches of Margate and Ramsgate. Families are drawn to this spot for its soft sand, chalky cliffs, and ample space for activities like rock pooling. Although dogs are not allowed during high season, it's a dog-friendly beach otherwise. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the promenade to Broadstairs for some local treats.
Quietest of the Broadstairs beaches from my visit on Friday and Saturday, it’s very large with lots of sand and a rocky path when the tides out. You’ll want to walk in the direction of Ramsgate to find the nearest public bathrooms and restaurants at Viking Bay
Rosie N — Google review
We decided to stay in Stone Bay which is quieter and less crowded than other nearby areas. The place is relaxing. My kids played with the sand. You cant really swim but it’s a good place to just lounge around and hear the waves and feel the wind. No toilets nearby. Sand is ok and fine.
L. C — Google review
The nice view and white stone cliff is photo perfect. This bay is not that big near Viking bay is good for swimming.
Ali A — Google review
What a lovely clean and quiet beach. Lovely sand, enjoyed it there.

Beautiful place and very peaceful!!! As you can see in the pictures and even better 😍😍 fall in love with this place !! I call it now “ my happy place “
Marco G — Google review
We had an amazing time at this beach. The view is simply stunning, with clear blue water stretching as far as the eye can see and soft sand making it the perfect place to walk and relax. The atmosphere is so peaceful and refreshing, with the sea breeze working like a natural atomiser, filling the air with freshness and calm. Sitting by the shore and watching the waves was truly relaxing and gave us such a sense of escape from the busy city life. It’s a beautiful spot where nature shows its best side, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a calm, scenic, and refreshing experience. ---
Behrooz S — Google review
Lots of space but windy, went here from London in early April. It was quite windy and cold. It was fun looking for interesting rocks and shells, but there were no unusual rocks, just interesting forms of chalk and flint. I would recommend going here for the beautiful view and rocks, but if it is not summer take some warm clothes. By the way, the sand was soft and easy to walk on but I would be careful in case you get sand in your shoes. A very good place to go is Broadstairs if you go further you can get to some beautiful green gardens!

Nestled behind a charming little park that offers stunning views of Viking Bay Beach in Broadstairs, Lillyputt Mini Golf is the perfect spot for a delightful day out. This whimsical mini-golf course boasts 12 creatively designed holes, plus an extra challenge with its special 13th hole, making it an exciting experience for both kids and adults alike. Families can enjoy navigating through imaginative obstacles while sharing laughter and creating lasting memories together.
Cute little course just back from the beach, with a little café too, and dog friendly, so some good doggos to pet also. The twelve hole course is fun and not too challenging to make it an enjoyable pit-stop whilst out in Broadstairs. There's a 13th hole for the chance to win an extra round too. It was quite busy when we went, but everyone was pretty respectful of the rules, so you never had to wait long for your turn. Defo stop by for a round.
Rachel B — Google review
Cute and picturesque golf course. High above the beach but not far away. Its pretty with a small cafe. Good condition. Not very large. If you haven't paid you're not allowed to walk around the course (even if your friends are playing) so not too many photo opportunities. At the end you can play lucky hole 13 to win a free game.
Harri O — Google review
I had a lovely visit today with my two year old, who has recently discovered mini golf. The owner (I assume) was really friendly and I appreciate the price of £8 for my daughter and me; very good value. Little ones get a plastic club and ball, so it makes it a lot easier for them. I haven’t been for years and years as I don’t live in Broadstairs anymore, but all the nostalgia of coming here often as a kid came flooding back (although, it’s not £2 anymore, understandably 😂). We didn’t have food or drinks, but we had a lovely time. The course is super clean, well-maintained, the steps are well marked and the flower beds are lovely. You’d have to be having a really bad day to find something to critique them on. Hopefully we’ll be back by the end of the summer.
Maisie D — Google review
We loved this place. So charming and quaint. Would have got 5 stars if it was open longer than 17:00 on a Friday evening and served more food + beer.
Tony L — Google review
Came down half term for a quick day out for the kids just walking around and stumbled upon this place. Went in for a cuppa and a bite to eat for the kids. Was very busy but lovely place to sit down and take a break. Kids swindled a game of golf out of us and enjoyed it immensely
Alan D — Google review
Great fun if you want to do something different than sitting on the beach (which is just across the road). We had a great time playing through the 12 holes and then winning a free game on the 13th hole. Some very funny and flukey hole in one's can be had on this course. Price wise is cheap and there is also a cafe on site for those wanting to just watch and have a snack instead of playing.
Baz D — Google review
My seven year old would give this five stars because she beat her grandad over twelve holes. Well maintained, pretty cheap lollies as well compared to other parts of the seaside!
John K — Google review
Always like this course, unassuming and beautifully kept. There's a nice cafe on site too

Morelli's Gelato is an iconic ice cream spot with a rich history dating back to the early 1900s when it was sold from a bicycle before finding its home in Harrods food hall. Situated in Broadstairs, Morelli's offers not only delicious gelato but also a nostalgic experience with its vintage soda fountain, jukebox, and retro decor.
If you’re in Broadstairs, you absolutely can’t miss Morelli’s, the retro Italian ice cream parlour that’s perfect for any occasion. Last Saturday, we stopped by for their authentic Italian thick hot chocolate, and it was incredible—rich, velvety, and warming in all the right ways. It felt like a little piece of Italy right on the coast! The atmosphere is charming and nostalgic, with that classic Italian flair that makes it a fun spot to relax. Bonus points for being dog-friendly—our furry babies were welcomed with a water bowl and dog treats which made the experience even better. Whether you’re after a cozy treat or one of their legendary ice creams, Morelli’s is definitely a must-visit when in Broadstairs. I’ll be back for sure!
Pat S — Google review
Absolutely love Morellis, have been a number of times- such a beautiful location & love the decor and the history of the place. The staff are very sweet and helpful - which is not easy as it’s often very busy (for good reason!) They really went the extra mile to find something we’d left behind by accident, which was so appreciated. I would love to see more vegan options there (although they have a great range of sorbets, and oat milk for drinks) & everyone I’ve been with who isn’t vegan has really enjoyed the gelato and huge sundaes!
Clare L — Google review
Good Hot Chocolate & Interesting Interior Stopped by Morelli’s Gelato in Broadstairs and had their thick Italian hot chocolate. It was rich and warming, a good choice for a cold day. The interior has a distinctive, retro feel, which adds some character to the place. It’s also dog-friendly, which is a nice touch. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Louis E — Google review
No idea what the fuss is about. There is a mile queue for the take away, so we sat down inside just to find out that you still have to go order and fetch the ice creams yourself. The restaurant appears to be messy and dirty, tables aren't really being cleared off and there is only one toilet. Upon ordering the tender is probably the rudest person in Broadstairs. When I changes my order from 2 Eton mess to 3, he rolled his eyes at me and made me feel really uncomfortable. The Eton mess says has chopped up strawberries inside but it was like a treasure hunt trying to find those. The "affocatos" were 80% over-sweetened vanilla ice cream and 20% burned esperesso. Waffle: don't bother. And to top all things up: 3 Eton mess', two affocatos, one waffle and one chocolate ice cream in a cup cost us a wooping £70 and no service with it whatsoever. AVOID!
Julia L — Google review
Recommended by my friend. Lots of seating so you can eat your ice cream or cakes in comfort. A good selection of deserts, even the old favourites. The prices had increased since the last time my friend visited, but they were very tasty.
Caroline F — Google review
An amazing ice cream parlour that wears its heritage proudly. From the decor to the service and the sundaes it was all 10/10. You have the option to take away which is a separate line near the entrance, or just walk on to the counter and order to sit in.
Michael H — Google review
Retro ice-creams in retro glassware. Lots of flavours and you can choose from plenty of ways to eat / drink them too. The queues were very long, so we opted to sit inside, only to find out there wasn't table service, so I had to queue anyway. The staff were quite stressed and not the friendliest, it's also not completely obvious where to queue and pay if you're eating in. My partner loved his sundae, and we both had milkshakes which were very nice. Overall worth the money and the wait.
Rachel B — Google review
Absolutely delicious ice cream situated in a retro designed shop. Always try to come here when in Broadstairs - they have other branches but I like this one. They have classic flavours as well as new ones such as ‘dubai chocolates’. I usually go for an Affogato or hazelnut flavour. Portions aren’t huge and prices are expensive but this is an occasional treat - but it’s a whole experience.

Dumpton Gap is a slightly secluded beach in Broadstairs, Kent, offering a serene escape from the crowds. Although not as well-known as other beaches in the area, it boasts stunning views of the sea and coastline when the tide recedes. This sandy bay is approximately 150 meters long and is ideal for activities such as surfing, swimming, and sunbathing.
Lovely beach, clean and relatively quiet. There is a band of rocks to low tide need shoes. Great cafe just on the promenade for coffee and a great bacon roll (lunch available too)
Jon W — Google review
Went there years ago, forgot how rocky it is when the tide is out. Nice little beach with toilets and cafe. Parking in the road but a steep slope down to the beach. Grass areas at the top .
Martin W — Google review
A lovely, sandy beach with a cafe and free on-street parking. There’s a steep slope down to the beach, but it’s not too much of an issue.
Neil S — Google review
Love this place. Plenty of on street free parking, good access down a slope to the dog friendly beach(all year round). There's a small cafe. You can walk to Broadstairs and Ramsgate easily asking the beach.... As long as the tide is out! Lovely cliffs all along both routes.
Ian W — Google review
Great place to visit. On road parking nearby is free. Then a slope passed the public toilets (which were ok) and you are greeted with a picturesque sandy beach. Our friends brought their dogs who had a lovely time. After our strole we then went back to the little cafe where decent coffee was served. We will be returning!
Paul L — Google review
Lovely spot for a walk with the dogs as dog friendly all year, and a sandy beach. A small cafe here too where we had a full English which was lovely. There are also toilets.
Russel W — Google review
Really lovely beach, a lot quieter than Viking Bay. A fascinatingly large amount of seaweed is here, and builds up en mass in sections which, from over the top, look like a satellite view of a river running through a rainforest. The only gripe I have is how rocky it is, particularly when going in the ocean - you will experience sharp rocks, and they will hurt. I ended up wearing my sandals in the ocean, which survived and did prevent pain. Highly recommended some form of padded aquatic shoes.
Robert ( — Google review
Went on Friday and Saturday and it was very quiet, around 15 other people. Visitors tend to stick to Viking Bay so this acts as a quieter alternative, although it is steep to climb so you might opt for the lift or steps at Viking Bay and then walk around to Dumpton Gap (right hand side) if you can’t manage

Louisa Bay is a peaceful cove located just past the clocktower, about a five-minute walk from Viking Bay. It offers uninterrupted views of a long stretch of golden sand and features rock pools for exploration. While smaller and quieter than neighboring Viking Bay, Louisa Bay provides a serene atmosphere perfect for those seeking relaxation. Visitors can enjoy good quality food from a beachside cafe and take leisurely walks along the beach from Broadstairs.
We went for a family beach Sunday and it was so much fun. Looked up and found some on road parking for the day as most posts for car parks advised of a tight entrance and that they get filled up quickly so didn’t want to be disappointed. Found a nice spot to chill and spread out blanket and enjoy some food and drinks on the beach. Some ‘not so friendly’ drop ins from true seagulls is to be expected so make sure you keep items close by. Some toilet and changing room facilities available and the life guards were on hand to make some announcements.
Uzo A — Google review
Beautiful beach with stunning views. It's dog friendly, and you can walk for miles either way of the bay . It has a great seasonal cafe that is really popular with locals and visitors. There's not many beaches in thanet that can beat louisa Bay for its charm any time of the year .
Cheryl S — Google review
Nice sandy beach, great for long walks and it has really good scenery. Nice cafes, pubs and restaurants to eat in.
Gemmalicious T — Google review
Louisa Bay is smaller and quieter then the neighbouring Viking Bay which is the major beach and has all of the attractions for the family. However if it's peace and quiet you are looking for with good quality food from a beachside cafe you are looking for then this small sandy beach spot knocks the spots off its neighbour. Please note no Lifeguards here.

This is a beautiful, clean beach and sea. It has an excellent cafe, serving good foods, cold drinks and a lot of ice creams. This beach is on the promenade onto the Broadstairs Viking Bay, then to Stone Gap.

Kent Surf School, located at the picturesque Viking Bay in Broadstairs, is a family-owned surf school that has garnered acclaim for its commitment to sharing the joy of surfing with newcomers. This award-winning establishment offers a variety of lessons tailored to different skill levels, including private one-on-one sessions and engaging family classes.
Friendly staff, affordable, gave clear instructions. We hired two kayaks for an hour and they let us keep a few things in their office. Made it clear where we should go and the water conditions. Will go back!

Absolutely fabulous school trip provider. Our Y6 had a smashing day of paddleboarding, giant paddleboarding and beach fun with the staff. The staff, Andy, Pip and Gareth, were knowledgeable, approachable and kept the children safe and secure while stretching their potential. All admin and paperwork was great and nothing was too much trouble. An area to change, a nase for our bags for the day and positive encouragement throughout. A fantastic day, we will be going back.
Chris B — Google review
Sat my grandson on a boat/canoe and I perched on the other one Some rude person came up who I assume was associated with the surf club and said “move” as I should have asked consent! Well if he has that bedside manner I would strongly advise using another club for lessons Completely unnecessary Gets a 1/10 He should be asking us if we need a photo not making us unwelcome
Ian B — Google review
Andy, Dave & the team have been amazing over the past 2/3 years with our daughter Maisie, she can be quite challenging but surfing/paddle boarding has really helped. Last year she was in the competition team with brand new board, we love everything about Kent Surf School and the family led team behind it. We would happily recommend to our guests.
Seastay L — Google review
My boyfriend and I were booked in for a beginner surf lesson, and while the surf/wave conditions didn’t manifest as hoped the team happily swapped us to a stand-up paddleboard lesson instead - we loved it! And we had a brilliant time with Gareth who made sure we were informed, safe, and supported us to improve rapidly. Big thanks to both Gareth and Emily, super friendly and accommodating.

Can’t comment on the other watersports, but if you are into surfing like I am stay away!! Scam to get your cash and cancel due to weather conditions with no refund option, just a voucher. Should have read the reviews before booking, now can relate to frustrations of other reviews.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, had a beginner group session Paddle boarding lesson. So much fun and although we were new to this, the experienced coach quickly got us right into it.

Booked a £40 “kayak tour” which was really just getting into kayaks and doing some lengths of the sea with an instructor keeping watch. More could have been done to give us the tour and talk about the different bays and landscapes. Don’t feel like I got my money’s worth but this may be due to the fact that the instructor had to keep paying attention to some in the group who were struggling. However, overall a nice experience and lovely to be on the water.

Highly recommended, five stars all the way!

I had a print which I wanted done a certain way and with the help of the girl in store, who was very helpful , chose a frame and mount and I can't express in words how happy I was to be presented with the final product. I can not recommend this framing shop enough. I will definitely be going back. Thank you for making my day

Absolutely fantastic team. Been using this gallery for a while now. This time around, they spent loads of time helping me choose mounts and frames for my small collection of rock and film posters. The end result…I couldn’t be happier, they look stunning in my man-cave! Thank you.

Ramsgate Tunnels, a historic underground network, served as a shelter for 60,000 people during WWII air raids. This subterranean city was crucial in protecting the locals from devastation during the war. The tunnels housed over 1,000 people and even hosted Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill during his visit to Ramsgate. Today, visitors can explore this underground marvel on guided tours and witness captivating graffiti left by urban explorers.
Great place to visit on a hot day. Nice and cool. Had a great tour by Colin. The humor and knowledge from him was spot on. Food and drink in the cafe was also great as well. Well worth the visit

Me and a friend turned up a little late for the last tour of the day, however thankfully we were let in anyway. Both tour guides Luke and Martin were very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this tour to anyone in the area, tour ticket prices are about £9 per adult and well worth it !
Dan T — Google review
We did the tour of Ramsgate Tunnels. Our tour guide was Gill. The tour was brilliant. It was done at a nice pace, very informative and with humour. You really get a flavour of what life was like during war time. The history of the tunnels was fascinating . The staff are all volunteers. I highly recommend this tour. Thanks Gill, you are a star!
Julie B — Google review
Ramsgate Tunnels is a significant attraction with a rich historical background mainly due to its contribution during World War II. The tour lead, who was a very knowledgeable guide, was absolutely brilliant where we were told about the vast history behind the plan and its execution and the role it played to protect thousands of families during the war. The temperature inside the tunnel remains at steady 11C throughout. The tour takes roughly 1 hour 30 mind and advance booking is recommended to avoid disappointments. We visited on 7th September where the British railways had numerous displays of 200 year history of the railways which we were so keen and excited to have a look. This is worth to visit and know about its history, significance as well as enjoy the genuine beauty of the well preserved site.
Khandker Q — Google review
Brilliant bit of history I didn't know was there!! Cheap to enter, well worth the hour and half tour. Not recommended for small kids.
Trish P — Google review
A fascinating trip into Ramsgate's wartime past. Our guide, Kim, gave us insights into the experiences of the wartime residents of the town (with some mention of those from Margate too 😂). He made the visit even more interesting due to his enthusiasm and passion for the subject and the tunnels. We would highly recommend this tour.

Very interesting tour, the guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Probably not great if you're unsteady on your feet the ground is uneven but that's to be expected
Joyce B — Google review
Can't praise this visit enough. Well laid out, easy to find and get to but importantly the volunteers were so friendly and very engaging. We had a two hour tour and we were hooked the whole time - lots of history and real life stories of what Ramsgate and Britain had to endure. Thank you all.

Royal Ramsgate Marina is a popular destination with a long sandy beach and the famous Royal Harbour, the only one in the UK. The area offers something for everyone, with children's amusements, arcades, and restaurants providing al fresco dining. There are plenty of walkways around the marina with various dining options. The historic harbor is wheelchair and pushchair accessible, offering plenty of seating to watch boats and seagulls.
Lovely to walk around the harbour in the day and especially at Christmas in the evening seeing all the lights on the boats.  The only royal harbour in the UK and a nearby walk to the largest weatherspoons of the UK and also local restaurants and cafes near the harbour.

I usually don't like to give bad reviews especially because the harbormaster is really nice. But the bathrooms here are so bad. They're really dirty and it's so freaking hot in there that after 1 min you're completely sweat through. Doesn't help that the sink and shower water is super hot and you can't change the temperature. None of the showers worked so i had to shower in the disabled bathroom. Felt more dirty after the shower than before. One of the cleaning workers literally told me he's gonna quit the next day even tho it was his first day of work there. The rest of the Harbour was all good tho.

Flanked by chalk cliffs, this sandy beach provides a serene atmosphere for visitors seeking relaxation. Additionally, it is known for its cleanliness and picturesque surroundings.
It was perfect for me! Even in less than ideal weather, I was able to relax wonderfully at Ramsgate Main Sands. The long walk along the beach to the yacht marina was just what I needed after a long drive. The peace and sound of the waves did me a world of good. I was particularly impressed by how clean the beach was. I can imagine it's even more beautiful here in the summer, but it was great even now. It was the perfect way to unwind before continuing to Dover for my ferry. Cheers.

A pleasant day at the beach with family, fun and food. Plenty of space to set up picnic blankets and allowed some music to dance, dance, dance. Park
King George VI Memorial Park, located on the cliff tops between Ramsgate and Broadstairs, was once the estate of wealthy financier Sir Moses Montefiore. The park features walking trails with coastal views, a quaint cafe housed in an Italianate Glasshouse, and a children's play area. The highlight of the park is the 18th-century Italianate Conservatory with its delicate cast iron frame and scalloped glass panels creating mesmerizing shadows inside.
A lovely open green space to run around with the kids, have a picnic or take your dog for a walk. There is a small cafe here and public toilets and the whole area is kept clean and tidy. Even if you are walking through on your way to Ramsgate or Broadstairs, it's worth a stop to have a look around :)

Unusual park that's an ideal place to walk the dog. Plenty of open space and some wooded areas where the local green parakeets like to sit in the trees and make themselves heard. The very attractive Italianate glasshouse houses a lovely café with good food, friendly service and outdoor seating in the picturesque garden.

Just adore this park lots of changes since I was small child many , many years ago . Use your imagination and have a fantastic time whilst your in the park . You cannot get bored walking through King George park. Decided to take a walk through King George Park this morning with my husband and grandson . Had a lovely relaxing stroll watching the squirrels 🐿 jumping from tree 🌲 to 🌳 and the birds 🦅. We played a game of football ⚽️ while park was not busy . Grandson wanted an ice cream but unfortunately they do not take card due to poor internet reception and we do not carry cash with us .

I loved the park. It is big and clean and it is pretty relaxing. It is not crowded so you can enjoy a walk or just sitting on a bench, reading a book. The Greenhouse is beautiful. Make sure you get there before 4pm in a sunny day, you will love their coffee, tea and cakes.
Elena S — Google review
King George's park is alway a great place to be, it feels much safer as it has more foot traffic the others in the area, but that doesn't mean you won't get your privacy, there are about five different feilds to relax in, the larger of them is farthest from the main gate and is usually the most quiet, it does catch the wind. the play area is sheltered from the wind with trees all around it, wish i knew that before having my picnick in the cold haha. I feel the food from the keyosk is a tad overpriced but what do you expect. it's better to bring your own. I haven't been to the glass house in a long time but i remember them doing lovely cake.

While it can get crowded at times, the festival provides an array of affordable dining options from small shops. Visitors can also explore less crowded beaches along the coast. Broadstairs a lovely place to visit just need to do something about parking 🙂 a park and ride would help our three main places in Thanet, Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate. This way TDC could close the main route in to the towns and make the main street into pedestrian areas .
Paul C — Google review
Gone down hill in my opinion. Been going for 5 years but this year just seemed to be less busy and lacking in atmosphere. Can't walk around with a pint. No drinking on the street posters everywhere and door security staff stopping you from leaving or going in with a drink. Don't think I'll bother going in 2018. Well here again in 2018. And it's DEAD! camp sites are empty and no atmosphere in town. Will spend next few days on campsite and start looking for a different destination for next year. There are 15 people in our party and all agree, it's had it's day.
Tony S — Google review
Folk week is back! Thanks to all those brave soles who made the decision to plan it when we were all locked down. Much honour. I have been attending performances on and off for 50+ years, and this year must be the most important week. Loved the Morris sides at the bandstand, even the terrible ones.
Mark J — Google review
Not bad for a couple of days but occasionally crowded. Not expensive if you avoid restaurants and try the small shops for fish and chips, shawarma, ice cream, coffee, etc. Not many toilets around the beach (actually I only found two on half a mile, maybe longer), nowhere to change your clothes, not many facilities. Go further on the coast and the beach would be less crowded. Unless the whole family of some specific ethnicities are coming and then you suddenly end up with 20 fully dressed persons around, only one speaking a little bit of English. Just in case you want to chat. Which you don't. But overall not bad.
No N — Google review
Over the last 18 month this restaurant care more for the take away public then the people eating in the restaurant. We waited over a hour for our meals and one starter even came out after our main course. We have revisiting this restaurant a few more times but the restaurant is poor.
Nigel J — Google review
The atmospheric is amazing, so laid back, relaxed, friendly and filled with traditional country music and cultural dancing. The whole town feels as though it is a festival town of like minded people. There is so much going on from Hobby horse club at 10.30 To noon at the bandstand with friendly Clarence the Dragon to family dancing at The Pavilion to more folk music and dance at the bandstand. You can also see more at The Sailing Club, Piermont park concert marquee, Dane Court School and in all the pubs in town and the spaces in between. There are also many workshops for all ages to go to and learn craft work, dancing, singing, learning to play an instrument and so much more. You need to buy The Folk Week programme to see the pages of activity for each day. Don't forget to give generously to keep folk week alive and well for next year and many more to come...
Amanda T — Google review
Dissapointing when the headline act that you have paid to see are forced to cut their set short because of either the imposed curfew or by having two support acts, surely in future it would be better to have just the one support so that the headliner can be allowed to play their complete set, they are the reason that people travel and pay their money for after all. Otherwise, no complaints.

St. Mary's Bay Beach & Cliffs is a serene and picturesque destination located just north of the popular Viking Bay. The beach is adorned with charming beach huts along the promenade beneath the stunning chalk cliffs, providing an ideal setting for leisurely walks and romantic strolls.
Extensive sandy beach situated a short distance north of the ever popular Viking Bay. Much better for a walk as it's larger and far quieter most of the time. During summer, beach huts line the promenade below the chalk cliffs, however in the winter months the beach is often almost empty. Some chalk wave cut platform is revealed at low tide. Uninterrupted views across the sea to the offshore wind farm.

Joss Bay, located between Margate and Broadstairs in Kent, is a 200-meter sandy cove surrounded by picturesque white chalk cliffs. This family-friendly beach offers various amenities such as a surf school, beach loungers, and a cafe. The bay is named after a notorious local smuggler from the 1700s and is popular with both families and adventurers.
Joss Bay Beach is as lovely and spacious as always! Plenty of room to relax, with toilets and a car park conveniently available. Perfect spot for a family vacation. There’s a bit of seaweed and some stones in the water, so be careful as they can be sharp, especially for kids. On a sunny day, it’s absolutely perfect! Plus, you can enjoy ice cream, bars, and delicious fish and chips nearby.
Ananya's C — Google review
We visited Joss Bay for the first time on a windy day, and while it was a bit breezy, our dogs absolutely loved it! The beach is beautiful, and they had a great time running around. The only downside was the lack of a café or toilets, but we didn’t mind too much as we were focused on letting the furry babies running around. Definitely a lovely spot for a walk with your dogs, just be prepared for the wind and plan ahead for amenities!
Pat S — Google review
I visited Joss bay on midsummers day (33 degrees Celsius) for a beach trip and it is a great sandy beach. Parking was hard to come by but eventually we paid £5 to park in a field nearby. The sand was mainly clean and even though the beach was very crowded it was possible to find space. The sea while accessible and refreshing was not clean either in looks or smell. The lifeguards were very helpful and gave my friend a plaster when he cut his toes on the rocks.
Fatima L — Google review
Worth the visit for sure. Not busy at all and sea is usually calm and suitable for kids. Lifeguard available, toilets and parking as well. Some see weeds but not enough to ruin the experience. Sand bank was huge and mostly clean. This beach specifically has a gelly fish warning. Luckily all good for us, but is worth informing people. The only thing missing is a bar/cafe nearby. They have only a shop renting chairs and umbrellas. Careful with seaguls, they are quite annoying ans invasive
