Spanish restaurant
Harbour Street Tapas is a small, simply decorated restaurant in Whitstable that offers an updated take on Spanish sharing plates with a focus on local seafood. The intimate yet airy space was opened by owner Lee Murray, who is well-known for selling the best Kentish produce at Murrays General Store in Canterbury. The menu features straight-up Spanish tapas like tortillas, ham croqueta balls, and grilled octopus with spicy Canarian mojo picon.
First time coming to the harbour street tapas and it won’t be the last! Started with some delicious tinto de verano which definitely went down a treat. And then the service was quick, attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, generous and beautiful. What more could you want?

Not been here for a long time and wish we had come back sooner. Very busy and fortunately dropped in ahead of time to reserve a table. Despite being busy the service was friendly and helpful, food almost came too quickly as would have happily lingered longer. Whitebean Hummus and the asparagus tortilla were delicious but hard to find fault with any of the dishes we tried.

OMG it's just so good...after 2 weeks in Andlusian Spain (predominantly eating our weight in octopus) we just needed a foodie fix, and boy did HST deliver; great service, amazing food & good choice of wine....& delighted to find Galician Octopus (pictured here with the accompanying potatoes) as their special....and yes it was...very special.
Sam B — Google review
We had a wonderful time here as the food was amazing. Some highlights would be the fried baby squid and grilled tiger pawns. We also ordered pan con tomate, padron peppers and duroc pork ribs. The portions were relatively large and the service was excellent. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Spanish food.

Fabulous evening meal and great service at the Harbour Street Tapas. 100% recommend this restaurant as a must go to place in Whitstable. Booking is essential!

Delish lunch with my son 😋, it was a pretty dreary day, so put some sunshine in it! Octopus was our favourite, superb balance of flavours. Fluffy crispy patatas bravas, croquetas chicken and leek, could have eaten a bowl full !!
Natalie M — Google review
Amazing Spanish food (and I used to live in Spain)! Good wine and all reasonably priced. The staff were attentive and friendly. Would come back!
Natasha B — Google review
Such a fantastic meal! Everything we ordered was beyond delicious! So so tasty and one of the best meals we have had in a long time. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere was lovely. My partner has an egg allergy and the staff were so kind and helpful, they really took the time to go through the menu to show him what he could have and were extremely accommodating. A special thank you to waitress Leah who was especially considerate and knowledgable about allergies. Sometimes eating out can be a little tricky but she made the whole experience very easy and enjoyable for us :-)

Fish and seafood restaurant
Located in the heart of Whitstable, Wheelers Oyster Bar is a historic gem that has been serving market-fresh seafood since 1856. The iconic pink-and-blue painted building is a must-visit spot for both visitors and locals. This bring-your-own-affair restaurant offers an array of fresh local seafood, including oysters, crab, mussels, whelks, and more.
Loved the food here! Quick service and very fresh. We had Guinness oysters and Yuzu oysters. There was a lot of ice on the Yuzu oysters so just be careful if you have sensitive teeth. The Guinness oysters were very light and delicious. To start they give a delicious home made bread and pesto. Thanks!

First place you need to visit if you are traveling to Whitstable. What an incredible place to have seafood, it was amazing. Delicious, tasty, we arrived just 4 min before they closed the kitchen and we managed to order 3 plates and 1 starter. The plating, the taste, the service everything worth it! Super recommend it. We will come back!
Laura M — Google review
The dining areas are compact and bijou so it does pay to book as they like to pace the kitchen. The food is unctuous and packed with flavour. Many of the dishes on offer have Far Eastern influences and flavours. This is unusually a BYO but there is a brilliant off licence opposite. The tiny but… for us was some of the fish was a tiny bit overcooked but it’s a delicious place for lunch and we will return.
Alison M — Google review
Fabulous place. Best crab cake I’ve ever had. Lovely walk in counter space to sit if lucky, otherwise book. Service is no fuss and efficient, good came quick and was a high standard. Staff helpful with questions. We spent & £19 and shared crab cake with fries and an incredible sauce, curry smoked haddock fish cake and then got homemade breads and pesto. Should have ordered more and look forward to coming back.
Lianne B — Google review
Definitely a busy place. When we got there, only a handle of seats was available and they were all taken. We ordered takeout. We just needed to tell what we wanted to the staff with our names. When the food is ready, your name would be shouted out. Price is ok compared to other oysters 🦪 shops around. We found the deep fried oysters were quite interesting. The raw ones were fresh, no incidents afterwards.
J. Q — Google review
We read about this place in the timeout magazine article about day trips from London. The town is absolutely charming, and this place was definitely worth a stop in. I would say that the staff could be a little bit kinder, they seemed a little bit stressed out and not really happy to deal with some basic questions. i’m sure it is difficult to operate this kind of an establishment in a tourist town, but you guys can do a little bit better. Our oysters were delicious and it seemed like everybody enjoyed what they had. You would think so since this is a fishing port and they’re getting everything fresh from the sea. I would say it seems a bit pricey for what it is. Pro tip, the place is BYOB and you can get a bottle of something nice very close by to bring in with you. The interior is very cute.

Came for the Guinness battered oysters and wasn’t disappointed. Probably exceeded my expectations! Crispy squid was good too. Give the spring rolls a miss.

The Pearsons Arms is a charming pub and restaurant located by the beach, offering a delightful dining experience with its modern British cuisine featuring locally sourced seafood, meat, and cheese. The establishment boasts an inviting decor with driftwood walls, comfortable seating options including leather armchairs and captain's chairs, as well as thoughtful details such as beautiful flower arrangements on the bar counter.
Best place for a Sunday Roast in Whitstable. Traditional, cosy seaside pub. Me and my bf have tried the chicken, beef and pork roast and all taste flavourful & delicious! Staff are extremely attentive and they do not put a large service charge on the bill (unless in a larger group) which is a bonus as you are free to tip as you please (which we do because they deserve it). Live music is always a nice touch and you have a lovely view of the seafront. Surprised by some of the bad reviews on here, they seem quite harsh in my opinion.
Hannah — Google review
Booked table 10 upstairs - table with a view of the sea. There are a few stairs to get to the top if you have mobility issues. There is also seating in the main entrance which is the bar area and down a few steps is another seating area and the toilets (the only toilets) staff were really friendly and attentive without being overwhelming and the food was excellent. We had Orzotto - creamy and. Dry delightful with a side of mozzarella and tomatoes - which went very well. Coffee to finish and well worth the visit .

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Pearson's Arms in Whitstable, and honestly, it’s exactly what you want from a seaside pub. While the exterior might look unassuming, stepping inside is like getting a warm hug. It instantly feels welcoming, especially on a chilly day, thanks to that lovely open fire crackling away in the hearth. When I visited it was very busy, and there was nowhere to sit which was a pity. What I particularly appreciate is that The Pearson’s Arms operates as a genuine free house. This means they aren’t tied to one single brewery, and it shows in their selection. The range of real ales, local Kentish brews, and fine wines on offer is genuinely impressive and clearly curated with care. It's fantastic to have such freedom of choice when you're looking for the perfect accompaniment to the sea air. I went for lunch, opting for a seasonal seafood dish, which was clearly made with locally-sourced ingredients and expertly cooked. The upstairs dining area, with its fantastic views over the bay, gives it a gastro-pub feel, while the bar downstairs retains that proper, cozy English pub charm. Now, a crucial tip: if you plan on visiting for their renowned Sunday roast or just a weekend meal, booking a table is absolutely advisable. I saw just how busy it gets—the place was absolutely packed! Don't risk turning up without a reservation, or you'll likely face a long wait. It's a highly popular spot for a very good reason. I’m already planning my next trip back; it’s a perfect slice of Kentish coastal hospitality.

Once again delved into the Kent seaside after hearing rumblings around The Pearsons arms, after a brief scan of the menu online we had little choice but to immediately book. So a table for 4 it was. This pub and restaurant offers up some of the finest cocktails and food around, I’m sure it is adored by locals and what a Sunday it was. Without hesitation my partner and I opted for no starter however going off the lunch we had I wouldn’t hesitate to try any and all of them. Upon arrival I went straight into the drinks menu, we would usually opt for wine however I am a sucker for a Bloody Mary. And despite it taking what seemed a long time to prepare (not a criticism as it was absolutely perfect) I can say with some certainty it has raised the Bloody Mary bar exceptionally high. We were seated upstairs and the views are stunning looking out over the bay. My friends decided on lamb and beef, and raved about it. Everything cooked to utter perfection, we decided on the roast sharer, it is hard to put into words and pictures how wonderfully it is presented, with various cuts of delightfully succulent meats. I was torn between it all, the pork comes with a crackling that pretty much knocked my socks off, the chicken was so tender, the lamb and beef cooked to a perfect medium rare. A massive selection of veg, Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, gravy, the list goes on. I was sceptical around the price tag however you are getting every pennies worth of food and plenty left that they happily bagged up for us to take. I couldn’t recommend this place enough, and am eager to head along to some of there specials nights to see what else the wizards in the kitchen can prepare. After stuffing my face and enjoying a lovely bottle of Sauvignon we headed downstairs just in time to catch the amazing Thomas Abrahams. I have seen him on a few occasions but he literally had the entire pub bouncing with his solo guitar performances, rarely stopping for air. The atmosphere was incredible, everyone in such a positive mood and dancing I’m sure long after we left. I often find I’m looking for things that maybe could be different, but I wouldn’t change a single thing, it’s a solid 5*, if you get the chance to experience this Sunday greatness don’t turn it down. I look forward to returning in the near future. Hats off to the bar team, chefs, restaurant team and everyone involved in making it quite possibly the finest Sunday lunch cuisine we have experienced to date. You will not be disappointed.

Wow what a fantastic bar. Great warm welcome from the staff. We had the 5 small plates OMG they were so tasty, especially the chipolatas from Jim's family butchers down the road. Prawns were amazing as was the whipped feta just gorgeous. We were extra greedy and also had the Tel pork burger and crab monsieur and on a Monday they have draft beer for £5. Will definitely be back. They are also dog friendly 🐕
Jacqueline C — Google review
Absolutely fantastic pub! The atmosphere was brilliant from the moment we walked in — warm, lively, and welcoming. The fireplace adds a lovely touch, especially on a chilly evening, and the live music gave the place a great vibe without being too loud. It’s also dog-friendly, which makes it even better. The selection of beers and gins seemed endless — something for everyone, and all top quality. We were genuinely impressed and left very pleased. Definitely coming back!

A quiet Monday evening in The Pearsons Arms, but what a lovely pub. We have 2 dogs so stayed downstairs in the bar area. Cosy snug sofa seating at the rear. Very old traditional looking pub where we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly barmaid. Service was excellent and food was fantastic. Very fresh plump mussels with chips, bangers and mash with onion gravy all cooked to perfection. Good choice of locally brewed beers and lagers. Loved it.

Samphire is a charming bistro in Whitstable, offering a rustic ambiance and an elegant black and gold Art Deco inspired exterior. The menu features local fish, meat, and seasonal greens, with a focus on fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Open all day, the bistro serves up breakfast favorites like kedgeree and eggs benedict prepared by chef Billy Stock.
One word, WOW! This place did not disappoint. We had the crab rarebit to start, and this was a 20/10. My sister had the prawns and she said they were super meaty and flavoursome. The focaccia was the best we’ve ever had! We then had roast dinners, chicken supreme and beef, with a side of pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese. The portion sizes were ample, and great value for money. The staff were warm and friendly and super attentive. Will definitely be returning!
Jemma J — Google review
I searched for a resturant in Whitstable for a Saturday evening dinner with my partner. After looking at various resturants I picked Samphire based on the great reviews and enticing food pics. On arrival we received a warm welcome and was shown to our seat. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. We ordered some cocktails which were okay. We ordered starters which arrived separately and I had finished mine before my partner's came which the server apologised for. I chose the oysters which were really fresh and tasty. Unfortunately my partners grilled prawns really lacked in flavour. After 40 mins the mains arrived. For my main I ordered the fish pie which many reviewers absolutely raved about. It was okay at best. . . Really under seasoned and bland unfortunately. My partner ordered the steak which came with no accompaniments, so he chose the potatoe pave. The steak itself was tasty and the potatoes were okay but quite bland. The overall experience was lacking based on the reviews of others and in my opinion not worth the price. Not worth a second visit.
Romy B — Google review
A real treat. Hearty and flavourful meals. Delicious ham with creamed leeks, fish pie and Creole mussels. Brilliant vegetarian options which everybody enjoyed. Traditional desserts with excellent textures. Very long and interesting wine list. Friendly staff and jolly atmosphere. The only thing that spoiled it was that a children’s dish from the children’s menu was spicy, it didn’t state this, and she didn’t eat much.
Emma N — Google review
Enjoyed a beautiful lunch at Samphire to celebrate my birthday. Food is absolutely fabulous, there’s a wide drinks selection, wonderful friendly staff and service. Very very special restaurant and highly recommended.

We went to Samphire for the lunch menu. I had the Oysters with Pickled Apple to start, and they were amazing, followed by Holy Trinity Mussels and Bread & Butter Pudding. My wife had the Terrine to start followed by Holy Trinity Mussels and Sticky toffee pudding. All the food was exceptional and the staff were really friendly.

We had a great birthday lunch at Samphire! The food was delicious and we had a lovely window seat 🩷

This is a gem! I'm Celiac and the staff were super accommodating. The cheese and ham croquettes were out of this world!
Nichole W — Google review
They made us Rockefeller oysters by mistake so it took an extra 15 minutes. The waitress apologized and ask us if you wanted the Rockefeller oysters too and of course, we said yes. But she never brought them and just brought us the regular raw oysters. Then she charged for the Rockefeller oysters instead of the regular oysters. We had to point this and it was corrected and they also added a service charge even though the service was not good. I felt really embarrassed afterwards because I asked for the Rockefeller and never got them. The smoked shrimp were very tiny and not worth the €12 price. Spent over €100 on just a few appetizers.

Seafood restaurant
The Lobster Shack is a warm and inviting eatery that offers a variety of seafood dishes, from lobster to fried fish, all accompanied by a selection of beers. It's the perfect place for a sit-down meal or a more casual beachside experience. With its canteen-style setup, this bustling beach shack serves up delicious plates of lobster and fish and chips at quite a pace. Additionally, it features an oyster bar with various shellfish options and toppings.
some of the most delicious oysters i’ve ever had! juicy and large even tho not prime season. the fish is also so fresh, and there are gluten free options available too. the lobster and shrimp roll was also a showstopper, loaded and delectable! reasonable prices for the quality you’re getting. also amazing views and breeze to be right on the water. seating was fast and ordering was easy via qr but you could go up to ask any questions without worry and everyone was accommodating. great vibes!

The food and atmosphere was excellent! Decided to splurge a little to try the grilled lobster half and it didn’t disappoint at all. It was so fresh and delicious! Paired well with the white wine. The oysters were very fresh and amazing with Tabasco sauce. Service was good but I’m only giving 4 stars because the staffs were not very proactive to welcome me upon arrival. I arrived on a Saturday afternoon slightly after 12:00pm when the restaurant had only 20% customers. Highly recommend to come before 12:30pm on a weekend because the restaurant was completely full by 1:00pm. Indoor and outdoor dining had good atmosphere. Worth a visit!
Joanne N — Google review
Bustling shack by the sea with tasty classics. The Lobster Shack turned out to be a wonderfully atmospheric place. I found it thanks to a GPT chat recommendation, and the fish and chips were truly delicious. We skipped the oysters—though they’re clearly a highlight for many visitors— as well as the huge seafood platter that’s very popular. From what I’d read, I expected a fine-dining spot, but in reality it feels more like a big, lively seaside fish-and-chips bar. And honestly, that suits the location perfectly. Right on the shore, with plenty of outdoor seating, it has a relaxed, authentic charm. We visited during the May Bank Holidays; it was windy, so we sat inside. It was crowded and a little noisy, but the food was worth it. The stainless-steel tables add to the down-to-earth vibe—almost as if they were once used for fish prep and simply left for diners. Parking is available nearby, though finding a space can be tricky. Overall: tasty, atmospheric, and definitely worth trying.

A simple birthday treat. Sat outside and enjoyed great quality oysters, lobster, shrimp & lobster baguette, good chips, zero beer for me and a glass of champagne for the birthday lady! Efficient and friendly service. Order from the table via QR codes. View...looking out across the estuary. Very cool and laid back.

My first time in Whitstable. My husband suggested we try the Lobster Shack. We tried to make a booking, but he was told it was fully booked. We would have gone somewhere else but we went in and asked for a table for tro and we're given a choice of tables. You book your order via a QR code on the table. It worked very well our drinks arrive quickly. Not long after the food we ordered. We both had lobster thermidor a full and half lobster 🦞 it comes with chips and a salad. The food is delicious 😋 and piping hot. If you sit inside you can see the staff cooking everything, it's amazing how quick they work with a full restaurant and customers sitting outside. I definitely recommend eating here. There is a good choice of food on the menu and the service is quick.

My boyfriend and I came here for the holidays. We ordered half a lobster and chips, butter shrimp with salad, and fried shrimp with chips. The restaurant atmosphere is very good. It is next to the sea, quiet and away from the hustle and bustle. There are seats inside and outside by the sea. The staff is friendly and attentive to service.

An absolute 5-star restaurant! Escape the crowds and seek out this fantastic beachfront gem serving an outstanding selection of fresh, delicious seafood. I discovered it on a previous visit and was keen to return—and it didn’t disappoint. We enjoyed oysters and prawns paired with a lovely Sancerre (available by the bottle or half-bottle, which was ideal). Later that evening, after a disappointing supper in town, we found ourselves wishing we’d just come back here instead. Already planning a return—possibly this morning—for breakfast oysters!

The service was seamless, faultless, friendly and fun, the flavours and freshness of the food made our lunch the best restaurant meal of the year. And we are professional lunch eaters! Great food. I understand some people like the patatas bravas served where the sauce and potatoes are separate, but we don't. They could have given us a choice. Not being in the area, I've not been here for years. Great Long Island Iced Tea Jojo's style. Definitely be back now I'm back in the area.

an amazing spot with lots of unique and delicious tapas! their seasonal menu is full of gems and the croquetas i had were absolutely delectable, full of flavour and the perfect balance of crispiness and softness. they were so unique to anything i’ve had and unforgettable! the hummus and tzatziki with bread was delicious and refreshing, the gluten free bread being made in house was such a nice treat! the desserts are also showstopping, we had the sticky toffee ice cream, lemon posset, and cinnamon/blood orange ice cream and everything was so fresh and bespoke. we had an amazing time here, sitting outside with the breeze, and al the staff were super lovely as well — in particular edie was a complete star, double checking what we ordered with the kitchen to insure there was no risk to allergies, recommending amazing food, and all around being kind and great. 100% recommendations and wish we could come back everyday!

Jojo’s 19:45 - July 12th - 150£ The food was good. Enjoyed it. 2 starters, salad, and one or two other things, no dessert and 4 drinks, came to about 150£. Was to be expected as this restaurant is set in a lovely location and stand alone. Service was good. One thing I did like is that I was called prior to booking to be told that my table of preference wouldn’t be available but that we’d be close to a window (which, it turned out, the entire place is pretty much windows) and that extra care prior to visiting was nice. In house service, was nice, a little rushed, but pleasant, polite and nice. Very simple and lovely dining experience. When in the area again, will definitely return! Keep up the good work guys.

I booked Jojos as the venue for my 60th Birthday party and I could not have been more delighted with the way the evening went. In fact, even before the night itself, Joe was helpful, approachable and professional when we discussed what I might want for my event. On the night, the setting was stunning with the sun setting over Tankerton Slopes. The space is warm, beautiful and tastefully decorated. I’d booked a swing band who set up in a dedicated space with plenty of room for dancing, and a Prosecco bar welcomed my guests. The food was, as ever, delicious and plentiful and the staff super friendly, helpful and obliging. I am so grateful for all their help in ensuring I was able to throw such a fun evening. Honestly, my guests are still talking about the fabulous food. Special mention must go to the selection of cheeses! Incredible.

Visiting a year later, Jojo’s continues to impress once again. The service is excellent, friendly and attentive staff without being too much. The view is incredible and the ambiance in the evening is stunning. The drinks are always good with a great choice of cocktails and the food is brilliant, feels like London quality but very reasonably priced. With this being our second trip whilst on holiday, we decided it’s probably one of our favourite restaurants in the UK when all elements are considered. If you’re visiting the area, this is a MUST visit.

We rocked up after 8pm without a booking & was greeted/shown to a table that was classed as the best table in the house… Food & drinks were ordered with the friendly staff.. when the dishes started to arrive, we dived in & all I can say is OMG! Each dish was delightful, tasty & portions were perfectly on point for the pair of us.. We will be going back to sample more of their dishes…

Fish & chips restaurant
Fish and chips takeaway
V C Jones is a popular fish and chip spot located in Whitstable, offering both takeaway and dine-in options. This family-owned establishment has been serving classic favorites such as cod, plaice, haddock, and battered sausage since the 1950s. However, their specialty lies in their Kentish potato chips fried in beef dripping, which are highly regarded as some of the best in southeast England.
It is a traditional fish and chip shop without frills. We were encouraged to go in to eat by a group who were leaving and we weren't disappointed! The young man who served us was friendly and efficient and the food was excellent.
Marco G — Google review
Every time I passed V C Jones there was a queue of people so I had to try. Friendly and helpful staff with a traditional fish and chips menu. Beef dripping does give it depth of flavour that you don't get so much with inland fish and chip shop.

Cod and chips we ordered was lovely it was a bigger enough portion to share between two people. Then we ordered a sausage and chips but the size of the sausage was awful. It’s like it’s from a children’s meal. I wouldn’t recommend for an adult’s portion. In one of the medium portions of chips we found a black hair. We’re visiting here and a few people recommend this local fish and chip shop. But I definitely wouldn’t come back in a hurry. The staff were very friendly, but they were very busy as it was a Saturday evening.

We had two cod fish and chips with salt and vinegar. Great chips and very tasty fish. There is no dine in option, but you can enjoy it at the beach which is located very close to the store. Reasonable price. Highly recommended when in Whitstable.

So delicious! Very easy system of calling them to order and pay and then picking up 10 minutes later. Superb chips and a lovely piece of rock too. Found a perfect spot to watch the oyster farmers at work too.
Anna L — Google review
fish and chips generally is either good, mediocre or bad ... except for about 1 % of the time and this is what makes that rare exception. outstanding fish that is cooked just right and what I can only describe as "proper" English chips.
Don S — Google review
Saw the reviews on google and was craving for fish and chips. The restaurant was inside the takeaway area. The employees were polite, friendly and accommodating. I ordered cod and chips which was nearly £13. Did not have just a fish option for £7.50 which the takeaway did. Fish was really fresh and tasted great, batter was tasty too. Chips were perfectly fried and wasnt too oily. Mushy peas was awesome but couldnt try the curry sauce as it was sold out. It was slightly overpriced for sit in and dine but the quality was definitely worth it.

Being a seaside town, there are a vast array of places to buy fish and chips. A friend recommended VC Jones however, and it was an excellent recommendation. Great chips that weren't at all flabby, the batter on the fish was crispy and light, the portion of scampi wasn't skimpy! We took them round to eat in the beach and they were great!

Grain & Hearth Bakery Whitstable, located on Oxford Street, is a hidden gem that has recently opened a cafe. The bakery offers an array of delectable treats such as sourdough croissants, grilled cheese toasties, and shakshouka eggs. Locals also recommend the Windy Corner Stores for breakfast options. Grain & Hearth is renowned for its naturally leavened sourdough bread and also serves pastries, sandwiches, and heritage-grain loaves.
Thanks to Adam Richman's visit to Whitstable, we were lucky to try a cruffin! Definitely worth a visit for those alone, but we also tried their Whitstable wild bread which is beautiful. Called back before we returned home to bring back the cruffins and bread to Wales , and we were lucky to pick up 1 of 2 croissant breads off the shelf... omg served warm with their fresh butter was yet another treat. Can't wait to return for another treat next year!

Best bakery in town! And… best BLT ever! We came everyday during our holidays in Whitstable 😍 thank you - everything was delicious and the team was great. It’s a lovely place. Thanks also for remembering my garlic allergy. We’ll come back for sure ! We already miss your donuts 🤭

Lovely cafe with cozy garden and very friendly staff. Great coffee and sourdough bread. Intriguing variety of treats freshly baked. Try the sourdough toast brunch in the garden on a sunny day or takeaway some treats like donuts and cinnamon chocolate squares or the pain au chocolat (this is not a typical one. As is sourdough based)

The passionfruit cheesecake cruffin was probably one of the most delicious pastries I've had in a while and the banana cinnamon bun was decent. Their baguettes are also great.

Had Crouque Madam with fried egg on the top, followed by a cronut/cruffin all good plenty of filling. Service is getting slower even when the que is out the door May 14th 25, service quicker luckily managed to get food at 2.30. Ordered 2 fried eggs on sourdough toast for my sister. I had the Special :- 2 poached eggs on SD toast spreaded with a salsa verdi, saute asparagus, and a dollop of aioli on the side. The special was very good. Only one egg ran, and one was slightly over. Salsa verde was fresh, and the aioli was mild garlic. Finished off with 2 cruffins, one raspberry trifle, the other pineapple, and coconut. The extra hot latte wasn't Oct 25 poached eggs on toast ,eggs were over cooked streaky bacon was nice. Doorstep bacon and egg sandwich so thick. Cruffins now £5

We were lured in by all the fresh baked bread and were not disappointed. Great coffee, one of the best almond croissants we've ever had and the hugest cinnamon bun for later today, probably much later as the breakfasts were so generous! I had the asparagus and poached egg on spur dough, and adding bacon was no trouble, and hubby had the bacon, beans and egg on toast. Both were well presented and delicious. (Have just discovered hubby couldn't wait until later and a corner of cinnamon bun is now missing 😂) Other food coming out looked equally delicious. Probably a good job for our waistlines we live too far away to be regular visitors. This place is popular, so you do have to queue, but definitely worth it.

Seafood restaurant
The Whitstable Oyster Company is a charming seafood restaurant located in a whitewashed former oyster store, offering a classic rustic setting and stunning views of the oyster grounds. Situated right on the beachfront, this establishment serves mouthwatering seafood, including fresh oysters, fish, and lobster. With its large terrace, wood-paneled rooms, and trendy lounge bar, it provides an ideal spot for enjoying delectable dishes by the sea.
The food here is amazing! We visit Whitstable from time to time just to eat here in this restaurant. The fish and sea food is mega fresh and prepared in a delicious way. There is plenty of space in a few rooms and a garden in front of the sea but I would suggest to book a table especially over the weekend and Summer time. The stuff improved from our last visit. The service was quick and very friendly. The food was amazing as always. The choice of a sea food is pretty good here. They also serve very nice desserts and good coffee. The toilets are spacious and clean. Highly recommend.

I'll admit I'm not a great seafood afficianado but I thoroughly enjoyed the food here. We decided to get a selection of starters that we could all share. My highlights were the dressed crab and pan fried scallops, a special mention to some of the best chips I've ever had. The oysters were lovely and fresh as you would expect. The restaurant has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff here are lovely, very attentive and friendly. Definitely not the cheapest but would come again for a special occasion

Food and service here is excellent. Lovely restaurant with a great view. Oysters are fresh n tasty, though is a little too small for the season. Sole n fish and chips is lovely. Crabs are fresh n lovely. Price is a bit overpriced though.

A wonderful spot to enjoy excellent fish. The quality is superb, with extremely fresh fish caught daily. The beach is just outside the restaurant truly a beautiful place. The interior is classy, very clean, and welcoming. All the staff are absolutely very kind and helpful. A little gem facing the sea. Prices are fair, considering the extremely high quality of the freshly caught fish. Absolutely recommended. Booking is mandatory. There is an indoor restroom, also accessible for those who use a wheelchair.

Thought this may just be a tourist cliche but we were very pleasantly surprised. Looks almost like a Disney ye olde pirate set but very nicely done and the food was superb. Nice staff. Delicious fresh oysters and seafood did not disappoint. Lovely mussels (a la Biere was particularly good) and a genuinely surprising meaty lovely mackerel. Plus superb scallops with balsamic. Even though drinks aren’t cheap it felt like money very well spent.

Absolutely love this place! Today we ordered the grilled scallops, Rockefeller grilled oysters, and a warm salmon salad to share — along with two beers. Everything was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and feels like family. Highly recommend booking a table in advance!

We came in to have a lunch on a busy Saturday and were kindly seated in the bar area since we didn't have a reservation in the restaurant which was full. The service was welcoming and we didn't have to wait long for the mains. We went for grilled mackerel and grilled plaice and both were good but the plaice really stood out and was absolutely deliciously cooked. I would really recommend it to anyone who loves fish. Overall the place is nice and you could also accompany your meal with local ales and stouts.

Birdies Restaurant is a charming family-run French bistro nestled in the heart of Whitstable. Since its establishment in 1993 by owners Philip and Sue Colthup, who are accomplished chefs with experience from New York and London, Birdies has been serving up authentic French cuisine using fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients. The restaurant's cozy ambiance features red-and-white check tablecloths and friendly service that adds to its timeless appeal.
Very well executed French cuisine with local produce in terms of flavours and quality. Particularly enjoyed the mussels (very fresh and no fishy taste at all) and beef wellington (cooked perfectly) would recommend to get those. Cosy vibe which I personally think is an ideal spot for a date or gathering with friends/family. Also enjoyed the nice warm service from the team x

High hopes dashed by a below-par beef Wellington and a disappearing skate wing We booked a little late and ended up at a roadside table outside, having missed out on the garden seating—not the best start. Things picked up briefly with the oysters and prawns, which were fresh and delicious. Then came the mains: beef Wellington and skate wing. I hadn’t had a Wellington in ages—it’s one of my absolute favourites—so expectations were high. Unfortunately, it arrived smothered in a thick, dark gravy that completely masked the meat. I couldn’t tell if it was pink inside, and the pastry was soggy. It looked more like someone had taken a paintbrush to it than plated it with any care. As for the skate wing, it had a deep red vein along the bone, which made us question whether it was fully cooked. It was taken back to the kitchen and simply never returned. About 15–20 minutes later, the waiter came back to say the chef had confirmed it was cooked—but the plate itself never reappeared. When we asked about it, the waiter looked a bit sheepish and asked if my friend would like something else. By that point, the rest of us had already finished eating, so she declined. The only apology? They didn’t charge for the skate wing. In hindsight, we probably should have gone to a more fish-focused restaurant and stuck with the obvious choice.

Really great seafood restaurant in Whitstable. We hadn’t booked so had to come back after 90 mins for a table but it was so very worth it. We opted for the 2-3 course menus which were so good in value. The food was all so delicious. Great starters, excellent fish and a tasty chocolate dessert. The staff were all super friendly and chatty, we really enjoyed our time here and can see why it gets so busy, even on a weekday afternoon!

I recently had lunch at Birdies Restaurant and was thoroughly impressed! The Wellington steak was cooked to perfection, incredibly tender witha truly great sauce. But the real highlight for me were the oysters they were incredibly fresh with that perfect hint of sea water, juicy, and wonderfully large. Honestly, they were the best I've tried in the UK. Highly recommend Birdies for an outstanding meal!
Alan C — Google review
One of the best meals we've had in Whitstable. This little place is full of charm, the simplicity of a French bistro and uncomplicated dishes packed with flavour. This is not fancy food for fancy sake, this is beautifully crafted, wholesome dishes, with attention to taste. We ordered two starters (mussels & scallops), bread, olives and the beef wellington to share between two of us and it was plenty along with the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The wine was fantastic, and reasonably priced, but we did find the selection of spirits available to be somewhat basic and lacking the curated attention that could have complimented the overall experience better. Regardless, I will be back time and time again. Update: Dogs allowed 🐕
Tom K — Google review
We ate at Birdies two days in a row as we have builders in and don't have a kitchen. Best decision ever. Birdies, not the builders.......! Saturday we had a mix of naked and Rockefeller oysters for starters, followed by the skate wing and monk fish for me. Sunday. Yet more Rockefeller oysters, but paired with the king prawns. For mains my wife had the haddock and I had beef wellington. Everything was PERFECT. Food, atmosphere, customer service. All brilliant. The beef wellington surpasses the one done by Roast at Borough Market, which was my previous favourite. Enough said. Even though we live in London and Birdies is a 90 minute drive, the trip is so worth it. See you there.

We went to Birdies for Dinner. When entering we were warmly greeted and made to feel welcome by the friendly but efficient staff. The food was lovely, I had Lobster Bisque, Lobster Thermidor and Poached Pear with Oat Crumble and my wife had Mussels, Lobster Thermidor and Crème Brûlée. The food tasted fresh and was well presented. Overall a lovely dining experience.

The Forge is a no-frills oyster shack located by the beach in Whitstable. It offers a selection of local seafood, including juicy oysters that can be enjoyed while sitting on the wall overlooking the sea. The unassuming shack also serves local beer, coffee, scampi and chips, and sugary hot donuts. Visitors can watch the staff shuck oysters on-site before purchasing their own.
Great spot for some fresh oysters. The native oysters are meaty, but they also have rock oysters as an option. The chips are chunky and great. Good range of drinks on tap (& bottles). Fast service. Very popular with tourists and locals - location is key. There's outdoor seating available.

This is our go to fish and chips in Whitstable. We always return as it’s so fresh and you can sit and look out to sea while you eat. The portions are really big so we like to share a large cod and chips between two and grab a set of oysters to go with. The drinks are all local which is lovely, I would particularly recommend the oyster stouts. You can also get donuts fresh to order and proper ice cream. The staff are always very friendly and laid back even when you can see that they’re under pressure. It’s such a nice atmosphere to be able to see the oysters being shucked on the seafront or watch your donuts go through the machine. Will always recommend the Forge and will always return!

Lovely rustic experience right by the seashore and yacht club. Delicious breakfast barms and good coffee. Perfect spot for a midway stop on a walk along the beachfront. Very very handy for our stay at the Whitstable beach house. Shame missed the happy hour oysters - fantastic value

Does exactly what it says - no frills oyster shack! Happy hour 5-6pm for £1.25 oysters or 6 for £6.25. We sadly missed it by 10 minutes but even full priced it isn’t too bad (£2.50 per oyster or 6 for £12.50). Would definitely recommend for the oysters and al fresco beachside drinks. As other reviewers have said - probably not the best spot in Whitstable for fish and chips.

Great, fresh oysters, turnover so fast you know they've never been lying around for long. Big portion of cod and chips and locally brewed beer, including the famous oyster stout. Would go back, without a doubt.
Kev H — Google review
Nestled near the scenic shores of Tinkerton, Forge offers a delightful open-air dining experience that perfectly complements its standout fish and chips. The fresh sea breeze and relaxed beachside atmosphere set the stage for a meal that’s both comforting and memorable. The fish was beautifully cooked—golden and crispy on the outside, with tender, flaky white meat inside. The batter had just the right balance of seasoning and crunch, never overpowering the delicate flavor of the fish. Paired with perfectly cooked chips—crisp on the outside, fluffy within—it was a classic done exceptionally well. What elevates the experience is the setting. The open-air layout lets you soak in the coastal views and ambiance, making it ideal for a laid-back lunch or early evening meal. Friendly service rounds out the visit, making Forge a must-visit spot for anyone craving a quality seaside fish and chips.

This is a great pub right on the beach at Whitstable!! Always very busy because of where it is! We were lucky and got a seat inside, just before the lunchtime rush! We had the fish and chips as the fish is fresh from the harbour! There was a bit of a wait for lunch but it wasn't too long! There's real ale and plenty of other drinks to choose!! The food was hot and delicious as well!

This charming old pub right on the beach is a must if you are visiting this cute town of Whitstable. It was definitely hopping on the early August day that we stopped in and we were able to secure a beachside picnic table for our group of three adults and three children. We did see some reservation signs on certain tables so it seems you can plan for an outdoor table in advance. We had the fish and chips which was very tasty and a couple of pints of ale, which was also good, the ladies working behind the counter were very sweet and helpful.

The menu offers a variety of dishes such as Famous Farmer big breakfast, fish curry, king prawns on sourdough, homemade soups, fish subs, and generous pasta plates.
This is a lovely place to come for brunch or breakfast if you’re in Whitstable. I’ve been here twice now and had the three little pigs the first time round. This time round I went for the sausage butty with egg, and it was delicious. The bread was cut thick and was so soft. The sausages had a nice taste to them and the egg was perfectly runny. The hash browns were perfectly crisp and the chipotle ketchup that came with them had a nice kick and tang. The sweet potato and chickpea fritters were nice and fragrant.

A delightful spot we stumbled across! The coffee was really good, and we shared the cinnamon roll croissant with berry compote, absolutely delicious. We were seated opposite the kitchen, and every dish that came out looked amazing actually! The staff were friendly, and the whole place just seemed really well run. It clearly seems to be a popular spot, and for good reason!

Sisters breakfast treat thought we would try Farm & Harper. Had a table for two it was quite busy. Sister chose Three Little Pigs it consisted of a sausage patty, smoked streaky bacon, black pudding topped with gruyere cheese tomato & chilli chutney in a brioche bun. When it came my sister asked for the bacon to be cooked more. It was a big stack she said it was good except the black pudding was bland. I chose the Hot House Smoked Salmon with a side of black pudding and streaky bacon. The sourdough bread had a herb creme fraiche spread on top, then smoked salmon with 2 poached eggs then topped with sweet pickled red onion rings. The streaky bacon was crisp one end and just cooked the other end. I also found the black pudding lacking in spice/seasoning. The poached eggs were hard to describe one was partially broken the other was soft but both the egg whites were glutiness in the middle as if pre poached and chilled then not thoroughly warmed to finish setting the whites the photo might show what I mean. I opted not to have the pea shoots on top.

The photos dont do it justice! Very friendly service; food is so fresh and tasty (especially the bread). Family owned and run - which you can tell from the service. Our favourite was the banana bread with bacon and banana. Would recommend and hope to visit again soon!

We visited for a late breakfast on a very hot, sunny Monday morning, when not much else was open for breakfast, but it wasn't too busy at around 9.45am. We chose a seat out the back, under the roofed area, which was initially very quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately we were joined by a very noisy family with young children, and as result we decided to move inside. However, sat right next to kitchen was still much quieter! We each had a Forager breakfast with added eggs (1x poached, 1x fried - both of which were cooked as expected). Food arrived in around 15 minutes from ordering, 10 minutes after drinks arrived - lovely coffee! Very delicious food; especially the smoky beans and sweet potato and chickpea fritter. Toast was nice, although it would have been nice to have a granary/wholemeal option. There's a toilet out the back which was really clean, (with both disabled and baby change facilities) although the flush was a little odd!

Very nice little cafe in Whitstable! We came here for breakfast and their food is fantastic, they have loads of good breakfast options including vegetarian dishes which I love. The ingredients they use are also extremely fresh, I would definitely come back here again.
Denisa T — Google review
Not great, not terrible - the food is the highlight here, it's really good and a reasonable price which is unusual in Whitstable. Sadly the service could do with some work, the waitresses seem fairly unbothered or interested in helping, it almost seemed as if any request was a bit too much but perhaps this was an off day and we are all entitled to have off days. The other area of improvement would be a second toilet, having one for all customers to share created quite a queue!

Inconspicuous on the high street but a gem of a cafe that serves gluten free brunch. We got to as close to a full english as we could, and it was delicious. Hash browns were perfect, fritatas delectable. I had the forager item. Despite no meat, I was very much full and kept me satiated right through to the evening. Do reserve to get a good seat, of which there are only a handful out in the windows. There is also an upstairs so i don't know what's that like, but on the ground floor, the seats near the entrance and windows are the best.

Bar
The Twelve Taps is a traditional pub in Whitstable, offering a great atmosphere and friendly service. It's the perfect place to enjoy a pint or two after a day of exploring the British seaside. The pub has been in the same family since the 1950s, providing visitors with an authentic experience. In addition to drinks, they also serve fish and chips, making it a must-visit spot for classic seaside dining.
To be honest, the "Taps" is our go-to bar in Whitstable. Craft Beer and Gin... They don't sell vodka or larger, saying that they recently had a very good "Smoked Lager".. The cocktail menu is mainly Gin based, has you would expect, and they have an amazing range of Negroni's (Chestnut) being the Christmas/Winter special. It's a smallish bar, ideal for couples, small groups of friends or individuals reading a book, and enjoying a "crafty" pint. The things that work about the taps is the welcoming staff, a good ever changing selection of craft beers, stouts, porters & sours and an impressive Gin selection (including a few distilled by the Taps, unavailable elsewhere, but if you like them, you can actually buy a bottle to take home). If you are unsure what "beer" to have off of the 12 Taps menu, then I'd recommend a flight that gives you 3 glasses a third of a pint of 3 different beers. So you can go all out and have an IPA, a Stout, and a Sour to try.. Or has I do, go 3 dark beers 🍻 But they don't sell the well-known Irish Stout or cask beers. If unsure, speak with the staff, they are knowledgeable about beer and their stock. Just so you know, the board can be found on the wall opposite the bar, you only have to remember the number, not the full name 😉😋 If you're in Whitstable and are not really one for the big high st "pubs" but prefer a good pint in a friendly bar, then the Taps is for you. They don't sell food, just bar snacks 👍🏽

Finally made it here, i visit Whitstable regularly and always miss this little beauty. Decor is fun modern and shabby, seating is varying in chair heights and size, with tables to match which adds to the fun cobbled together feel. lots of choice for all alcoholic drinks. Decent, not huge selection of alcohol free beers but decent. Small but cosy garden, which on a sunny day i can imagine is a sun trap. Staff are warm and friendly. Will pop back soon 👍

Outstanding tap beer selection here. The left handed Giant hazy was superb and fabulous service. Cosy pub, with warm lighting. A must visit if you’re in there area.
Harrison M — Google review
Lovely pub with an excellent selection of really good craft beers - 12 of them on tap, hence the name. Really nice offering of a tasting selection of any three one third pints if you’re struggling to choose! Their own Whitstable gin is also well worth trying - very smooth with refreshing rosemary and kelp. Nice snacks to accompany and a selection of card and board games. Nice little garden at the back as well. Good music too.

What a find. I am the kind of guy who asks the landlady if they sell gin 🫠 Gin menu acquired and the beer tap menu containing funnily 12 options. 3rds in a flight tray are always a bonus to try a few things. The soft drinks options for our little one was not run of the mill which she enjoyed. Spent a few hours here which was wonderful in the sun trapped garden out the back. 10/10 would return without hesitation. Thank you for having an uneducated tourist.

I had a fantastic experience at this pub. They have an impressive selection of craft beers. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and perfect for relaxing with friends or enjoying a solo pint. The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and really knew their stuff. Whether you’re a craft beer enthusiast or just getting into it, this place is well worth a visit.

We had just finished our meal at the Star of Bengal. It was late and we just wanted a quick drink. Clearly they had gins! Nice place.
Ian F — Google review
Whilst I was sat in this pub enjoying a refreshing pint, I decided to go through the reviews and I noticed a common statement that a particular member of staff was getting quite a lot of grief for being 'unpleasant'. It's safe to say, sometimes you hear things from others that don't appear to be true. As when I went to this bar with my family she was lovely, she went as far as to bring treats for the dogs and a bowl of water. I absolutely loved sitting in this pub and I really don't think she deserves the stick given, however, I always like to think we all have our off days so perhaps those reviews are from a group on that day. Either way, enough of that, why is this a good pub? Well it's self explanatory, it has 12 taps of different cask beverages and my assumption is this changes quite regularly so there's always something new to try.

Nestled at the far end of the harbor, Crab & Winkle is a hidden gem that offers an unforgettable dining experience. This charming eatery serves up fresh local seafood sourced directly from the nearby harbor market, allowing guests to savor exquisite fish and oysters while enjoying stunning views from its outdoor terrace. Operated by the renowned Whitstable Oyster Company, diners can indulge in their freshly harvested oysters and even sample their unique oyster stout.
Now this was a surprise. To get in you have to ring a door bell, sounds like a bit of a speakeasy, a staff member let's you in your taken upstairs, temperature checked, very reassuring and then the experience beginnings. The view over the harbour is fantastic back drop, the staff are very helpful, friendly, know what they are talking about and the food is amazing for people who really like sea food this is the tops, well worth a visit, we spoke to the owner who gave a very knowledgeable account of the area which added to us "out of towners" experience. Thank you we will be back certainly worth the journey. Ps octopus was brilliant
Lex K — Google review
I could've given star plus, plus for the rating! Never dined in a fish restaurant like this before! We tried our first natural oysters! For the main, had my best brown crab. Not that often we can get octopus claws in a fish restaurant unless you go to a Greek restaurant in England. Mussels were amazing too! In addition to this, every staff member was so friendly and helpful! We were glad we found it to celebrate our wedding anniversary!
Kumudu S — Google review
The restaurant is ideally located right by the harbour. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful. The food itself is delicious, especially the oysters. It isn't super cheap but well worth it. Overall Crab & Winkle was definitely the highlight of our day trip to Whitstable.
Callum S — Google review
I was a little nervous when I arrived because of the reviews I read. To my surprise the service was very good. From the time they received us till the time we left. The food; prepared crab - definitely not fresh. Scallops blew my mind, lobster Thermidor was brilliant, the skate wing was fresh and beautiful. This was a good experience
Kenneth P — Google review
Great value for money, added to my list "to go back" . Seafood fresh and some audacious recipes, like black pudding and scallops. Our octopus was a bit overcooked, which compromise the 5star.
Alessandro S — Google review
We enjoyed a leisurely lunch at the Crab and Winkle on a blustery and bracing Sunday afternoon. We arrived without a reservation but they were able to accommodate my party of three. After signing in our contact details in line with current COVID guidelines. We were shown to our booth by the very friendly staff. The staff were well catered for in terms of Covid PPE and the face screens they used made for good communication and eye contact. The menu was good and we decided to enjoy a lovely Gavi Di Gavi while we perused the menu. We selected the Mussels as a starter along with the Seafood platter Selection. These where delivered promptly, fresh and very tasty. Special mention for the very good Olive bread too. For our mains we all had the Bouillabaisse which was very good, plentiful and arrived hot. My only complaint would be the langoustines which were very small and not pre dressed so we found quite fiddly to get at the meat. The finger bowls provided were therefore very handy. However the whole Bouillabaisse was very good and portions of the ingredients were large and plentiful. Once again the olive bread was excellent with the soup. We also enjoyed a portion of chips and a portion of the Samphire which were very good too. We then enjoyed the Cream Brulee along and the Chocolate Box and Ice cream as our choice of desserts. Both were very good and especially the Chocolate Box which was excellent. We finally finished our meal with Coffee, an Expresso and a nice Cognac. The whole meal was very good. The staff were young but very friendly and helpful. The bill was a pleasant surprise at how reasonable it was. The ambiance of the restaurant we found enjoyable with good spacing and Covid guidelines in place. We certainly will be looking to revisit the Crab and Winkle when next we are in Whistable.

This is an absolutely brilliant find - service was warm and friendly and prompt, food was superb and price was good too. The cod was huge and fresh, chips cooked to perfection and the omelette was filled beautifully with melty cheese and lots of bacon. Little legs had the cheeseburger and chips and thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definitely return.

We visited Ossies Best Fish and Chips and had a fantastic experience. We ordered cod and haddock with chips, along with curry sauce and tartar sauce. Both types of fish were excellent – the cod was fresh and flaky, while the haddock had a lovely rich flavour, all coated in perfectly crisp batter. The chips were golden and delicious, and the sauces really complemented the meal. The portions were generous and great value for money. The location makes it even better, as it’s right by the beach – the perfect setting to enjoy classic fish and chips by the sea. The staff were friendly and the service was quick, even during busy times. We’d definitely recommend Ossies to anyone visiting Whitstable – it truly lives up to its name!

Hidden away cafe in Whitstable just behind the beach. We found a shade table at the front and had two English breakfast and tea.We got the tea straight away but waited a while for the breakfasts as I think they were pretty busy. Worth the wait though. The creamy mushrooms were very nice.

I ordered the poached eggs with spinach on toast with windy sauce (rocket, nuts capers, oil & nuts) sausage on the side. The other order was scrambled eggs on toast, latte, and a Peppermint tea as well as orange juice. We had lemon cake and flapjack and an extra hot latte to finish. The service and food were good, nice and hot the poached eggs were good, and the scrambled eggs were soft and tasty. Nice cakes. We booked a table for the breakfast ladies on Sunday as I think they will enjoy the food

A La Turka Whitstable is a charming restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly, laid-back staff. Although the wait for cocktails was a little long, they were enjoyable once they arrived. The main dish was delicious, but unfortunately one of the sides lacked seasoning and there was no warning about the spiciness of the chili platter. The bulgar rice was dry, possibly due to being left under a hot plate for too long.
Impeccable service, and the food was to die for. "The best kebab I've ever had in my life" - my OH - says it all really! They may sound like the kebab dishes we all know and love, but this will change your mind forever and you will crave this food over and over again. We have been back since our first trip in July and it was to the same standard. Lovely little outdoors terrace behind the restaurant where we sat both times. Highly recommended! Third visit and everything is as amazing as the previous ones. Lamb Sharma Betyi remains the best thing on the menu and nothing short of a spiritual experience 🙌🏼

Excellent food, exceptional wines and 5 star service. We went on a cold rainy summers evening and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the interior, beautiful stemware and authentic Turkish plates. I couldn't fault the food - we sampled several appetisers including the hummus with crispy lamb and fresh Turkish bread as well as the meatballs to name a few. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Outstanding. Just back from A La Turka in Whitstable after a wonderful meal, as good as any I have had in recent years. In fact I was reminded of an unforgettable 'melt in the mouth' Shish Kebab experience I had 30 years ago in San Diego. The food was amazing, and the staff were great. Highly recommended. Oh, and no fuss around our dietary needs. They catered for our food intolerances without complaint.

4th time we have been back here and each time we have had a delicious meal with great service in this lovey restaurant, we would love one to open nearer to our home, and enjoy our visits when we are here. Highly recommended.

Having gone on holiday to Turkey as a kid, it's so nice to get some authentic Turkish food in the UK, especially in Kent. I've eaten here a few times since it opened and I've had many flavourful dishes. A highlight for me is getting the Turkish bread like you get at restaurants in Turkey. The staff are great and the decking is great to sit on when it's sunny like it is right now. Great place and would recommend to anyone.

Yesterday, I visited RuLu's Deli Kitchen Wine with my dog for lunch and had a delightful experience. The owners, presumably Ru and Lu, were very friendly and even came out to chat with us and give treats to my dog. They also interacted with other customers. The food was excellent, with a focus on seafood but not overwhelming. I enjoyed linguine with morel mushrooms and oyster, while my partner had a crab tart.
What a place. We drop in regularly for the amazing Portuguese custard tarts and coffee (my partner is from Lisbon and she says they’re amazing). Just had a Sunday roast (beef and chicken), with a chicken liver pâté starter, bread and butter pudding and the most insane blood orange and vanilla cheescake and WOW WOW WOW. We loved it, the kids loved it - best restaurant food in Whitstable. Easily. Highly recommended. ❤️

Most people coming to whitstable is mainly for oysters. We did our bit for the oysters, we were still hungry so we decided to find something more filling to eat. Since Whitstable is close to the sea, naturally I thought we’d have seafood pasta and we found this place on Google map. We didn’t have any reservations. We just walked in. There were some seats by the bar. We were greeted by the owner. The lobster and crab meat linguine immediately got my attention. And it didn’t disappoint. The pasta was very al dente, with the freshness from the loose crab and lobster meat. It was with less salt from the kitchen to show the sweetness from the seafood. There were salt and pepper and chilli flakes in the side if you want it to be with stronger flavour. It would be even better if the portion was a bit bigger. The owner was friendly and nice, with good boundaries, not overly talkative but chatty enough to let us feel welcomed. The restaurant offers a good selection of wine. Unfortunately I was not feeling 100% so I didn’t order any alcoholic beverages that day.

Absolutely fantastic. The best tapas we have eaten in the UK. The daily special of lobster and shrimp bap was so tasty. Rad Burger has firmly established itself as a beloved fixture in the burger scene, celebrating over a decade of serving up mouthwatering creations at South Quay Shed. Recently highlighted in The Good Food Guide, this vibrant eatery continues to impress with its juicy and flavorful burgers, like the Rodeo Chicken and Truffle Beef options, complemented perfectly by their rosemary fries. Catering to various dietary needs, they offer gluten-free versions served in soft brioche buns that don’t compromise on taste.
Stopped here for a bite to eat, great place to sit down, chill and grab a good mix of different options of food, we went for a few burgers at Rad Burger, 🍔 I had the halloumi burger and it was VERY good 👍 Chicken 🍗 , cheese burger and loaded chips all very good 👍
Hastings A — Google review
Tried two of your burgers in Dreamland Margate. Truffle and Cali beef. Both were juicy and tasty. I wished that the buns were better toasted tho. Other than that, no complaints. Good portions and nice fries too! OK, one minor thing. The ketchup could have been better
Natsu G — Google review
Had the Cali burger and the truffle tots and both were great. Meat on the burger was cooked perfectly (not over done like many burgers are), it was super juicy and there was no shortage of cheese. Portions were also quite generous. Relatively pricey (£24) for what is essentially take-away, but we can't complain about the quality and service!

I cannot rate this place enough! It has fast become my favourite place to eat in Whitstable. Their halloumi is to die for! Their service is with a smile, and their milkshakes are tasty. It's not cheap, but it is always high quality and I don't think I have seen anyone not enjoy their food when I sit in and enjoy mine. It's a busy kitchen so I'd say go there a bit earlier if you want an evening burger, otherwise you may wait a short while. They also do delivery and that's always worked out nicely for us too!

My friend and I have enjoyed the rosemary fries and vegan burger from here several times over the last year. However the burger recently changed, and although tasty, I didn't enjoy it as much. Or perhaps it was a supply issue (?) Still the food is top notch 👌 service friendly, and wait time is reasonable

The fire-warmed garden adds an enchanting touch, making it perfect for any weather. Guests have raved about the attentive service, even on busy evenings without prior reservations.
We had passed the Porto Wine bar in Whitstable a few times but we were always too early. We visited a week ago as a couple and met the wife's sister. The ladies decided on a Port tasting and I had a Portuguese Stout. We had a lovely couple of hours, the service was very attentive and the help and knowledge about the ports were fantastic. We will certainly be visiting again.

Great selection of wines, excellent food and amazing service. We announced ourselves without a prior booking on a busy Saturday evening, but we were still attended to with a smile and we were told we will get a call in 30 minutes when the tables become available. And we did get a call. We had a bottle of Cabriz, some olives, sourdough bread and chicken and chorizo. The food was excellent, wine was nice, the ambience was amazing and to top it all, the service was brilliant. Special call out to Harvey who served us. Great chap, made our evening special.

Being Madeiran/ Portuguese I saw this place on line yesterday and because we live nearby Canterbury we decided to book for today at 1pm We was welcomed by friendly staff who showed us to our table then a few minutes later took our order. The wine red Cabriz ( 2nd on the list under red wines) was 10/10 obviously I knew the wine. For food we had grilled chorico, chicken and chorrico skewers ( very good value we thought £12) served on a bed of salad and two slices of bread. The atmosphere inside is super chilled with jazz music playing softly on the back ground. Did I mention the have super Bock on draft! Brilliant place for couples. Over all well worth it Filipe Da Silva

We really wanted to love this coffee shop, having walked past so many times, every time unable to get in with our stroller as it's always so busy. It's a lovely place to sit, with lots of delicious looking foods for sale, as well as what we hoped would be high quality third-wave coffee. We ordered a flat white and a mocha, and unfortunately, were underwhelmed. Service was extremely slow on the Monday morning that we visited, the flat white was over extracted and bitter, and the mocha was gritty, with raw hot chocolate powder which no amount of stirring would dissolve. Perhaps we got a bad one, but based on our visit, we wouldn't recommend.

Really cute coffee shop just a stones throw from the sea, perfect to grab and go for a seafront walk. The coffees were nice and the lady who served us was so lovely too! I’d definitely recommend and would try food next time too.

Great! Nice coffee and tasty Matcha! Love that they serve Oatly Milk here. We also had a salted caramel brownie and it was DEVINE. Also bought some small food gifts, as there is nice selection of different things which are great for gifting! Look forward to going back when I visit again. :)

Located at the Old Coal Yard on Belmont Road, this hidden treasure operates from Wednesday to Saturday and offers an ever-changing menu filled with mouthwatering options.
We love this place. Really lovely and friendly staff, reasonable prices for wine and food and a lovely ambiance... especially when Ian is spinning his vinyl from the side shed. What's not to like, but sad to report a recent 25 per cent hike in wine prices 😪

My experience of this delicatessen/cafe. We tried to buy from the delicatessen today, the door was locked with a sign to use the other door and go into the cafe section. We have a 5 month old baby and had her in a pram. The lady behind the counter immediately kept calling out no buggies (it’s a pram) and there is a sign outside. We explained we wanted the delicatessen but the other door was locked. She just kept shouting no buggies and there’s a sign. We left, clearly not child friendly. The place was almost empty, so I can only surmise that this is an anti children establishment even in the delicatessen. As we left we heard somebody saying what a bad day the lady was having, sorry to know that having children in your cafe is your definition of having a bad day. Awful place, we will never return. Also after posting my review I was subject to a lot of abuse where intimidation and bullying was used to try to get me to revoke or remove my review. See their Facebook reviews for this abuse. The cafe at no time have tried to stop this, so I can only assume they were complicit. The abuser freely admits that he was abusing me after my review was brought up over coffee that morning - December 2017

The East Coast Dining Room in Whitstable is a neighborhood restaurant known for its excellent ingredients and cooking. While it may not be aiming for a Michelin Star, it offers a comfortable dining experience with an attractive outside seating area. The concise yet well-curated wine list complements the food perfectly. Although still evolving, the restaurant shows promise for even better things to come in the future.
Very good and extensive wine list. No matter what you choose, it will be simply fantastic. Best food in Whitstable by far. Excellent fresh fish very well cooked.

If you pick a safe option you're unlikely to be disappointed, the ingredients and cooking are excellent. If you want something a little off piste there are choices that may or may not tickle your tastebuds, but nothing ventured... The wine list is concise but perfectly formed. This isn't the finished article but it's working on it. Looking forward to good things in the future.

Surely not fine dining for european standards, but an excellent choice for local fresh fish, that is well cooked and nicely served in a cosy ambiance. An extra word for our waiter who added with his personal charm, politeness and knowledge to our pleasant experience.

What a shame. Three pleasant meals in this restaurant. but trying to book a party has proved impossible. No answer to email. No provisional booking face to face. Excuses made about number. Never phoned back as promised. Didn't answer telephone. Discourteous to my husband when he called in; told they were too busy to take a booking There was no-one in the restaurant at the time, and it was for a month later. Banned in my book. poor customer service. Silly when trying hard to get a good reputation in a restaurant that has changed hands more times than a house. won't go there again.

Fish and chips takeaway
Restaurant
"The Bestest Fish & Chips Shop" in Whitstable is a must-visit spot, offering the quintessential English experience of enjoying fresh battered fish and chips by the beach. The shop is known for its large portions of golden, flavorful chips and chunky, white cod with perfectly crisp batter. Visitors rave about the quality and quantity offered at this establishment compared to others in the area.
I’ve never had Fish & Chips this good they were absolutely gorgeous. Large portions, Chips were Golden & great flavour & the Fish was So white & the flakes chunky the batter was crisp & perfectly cooked no soggy batter inside. A visit to this Fish restaurant should not be missed. Others in the area are charging much more for Fish & Chips but the quantity is less & the quality does not compare in my view. I was recommended to visit this Restaurant so I now recommend it to you. You will not be disappointed.

There were 8 of us in all & we consider ourselves to be real F&C foodies and we very excited, as this was our holiday treat and the reviews were amazing. The lady serving was lovely, but we can ALL say without exception that this was the most awful, tasteless F&C we’ve ever had! We’ve eaten F&C across the UK over the past 40 years, and this shop gets first price as the most disgusting and over priced F&C we’ve ever had! The chips were dry and tasteless and the fish batter was too thick and also too dry. We would also add that they do a small £1.0 or so discount for OAPs (which also includes a cup of tea) … 2 of us ordered this and found that both our fish and chips were virtually half size child portions! So please do not get scammed with this offer.. WE WOULD NOT EAT HERE AGAIN! The only thing we cannot understand is how they’ve managed to get so many good reviews??? As far as we’re concerned their name should be changed to “THE WORST F&C SHOP IN ENGLAND”
Whyed G — Google review
We stumbled across this place by accident, and what a stumble! Really tasty HUGE pieces of fish, and reasonably priced too! And proper chip shop chips too...lovely! There's a takeaway fish and chip shop with a restaurant right next door...free parking outside (if you can get parked). Perfect!
Dean W — Google review
Really delicious cod and chips - will definitely come again the next time we're in Tankerton or Whitstable. It's not obvious that it's the same business as Ossie's next door, especially when that part is closed. So this is the take away part while Ossie's is the eat in. So the reviews should be shared.
Jonathan D — Google review
Come on guys what have you done to the chips? Last three visits have been not great. Each time fish was ok but the chips seem to be getting worse. I can forgive once but today was the third time where they were overcooked and cold. Same as last two times. Won’t go into the restaurant next door because of this.
S N — Google review
Yum yum yum yum yum yum...to everything. THE best cod and chips I have EVER had....and I consider myself a bit of an expert. Proper chunky cod, not scrapings hidden in a mound of batter, great chips, friendly service. I live 40 miles away and will drive here for my treat.

This place is a little out of the way but it is more than worth a visit. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu but my favourite dishes were the hors d'oeuvres (they aren't listed on the menu but they are brilliant,)the turbot and the quince soufflé. If you're visiting Whitstable it is well worth the detour to try out.

Ages to get served due to lack of staff. Food cold when arrived signature cocktails couldn't make no ingredients had a Zombie didn't have the spiced rum for that ordered 2 one for later second one was watery as if no alcohol, was told not to complain by my sister. Medium rare fillet was undercooked, more like blue. Ribs were cold and dry. The outside was hot as if deepfried. The Onion rings cold. Had to go searching to remind them about drinks. They came and no coffee was told on way. Had to search again to ask for the coffee. Had to remind them about the replacement chips onion rings etc and my second Zombie. Brother went to bar to get drinks he found my Zombie sitting there. The Male server said sorry he had to deal with something. If you haven't got the staff don't take the bookings !!! Get someone in charge to make sure you have proper stock levels for drinks and food.

I wish I could have something more positive to say, I really do. But, unfortunately, this place left a lot to be desired. Where do I begin? Do I start with the 15 minute wait to get seated, even when we had a reservation? Or do I begin with waiting nearly 30 minutes just to place our order once seated? Unfortunately, this was just part of the long list of issues at this location. Part of my party's food came out about 10 minutes later after the rest of us got our food. I do not put this blame on the waitress, but rather the establishment itself / the shift manager. This location seems to be going to hell in a hand basket. The food itself was not good. I ordered the beef lasagna, and it was an odd, soupy mess of weird, creamy unknown cheese and barely any noodles. I would not recommend this place at its current interation.
Matt S — Google review
Staying at the travel Lodge and decided on this place. Not the best reviews but gave it a go. The staff we're polite and helpful. The restaurant was clean and tidy. Had a drink first then ordered the mixed grill. Food came in about 20mins. Food was hot. Ordered the 10oz rump upgrade. Medium rare. The good parts. Chicken was cooked. Sausages where ok. Chips where nice. Crispy. The bad parts. Gammon was raw. Steak was rare and not a good cut. Egg was raw in places. Mushroom was greasy Now this meal cost about £20 and personally I think that's appalling for the quality you get.. That's alot of money.. Had I been paying for this myself I would of sent it back. You really need to step up your game..

Zizzi Whitstable is a delightful Italian chain restaurant nestled next to the bustling Horsebridge development, right by the picturesque harbour. Known for its delicious pizzas and calzones served on rustic wooden boards, as well as traditional pasta dishes, it offers a cozy dining experience in the heart of town. The atmosphere is generally warm and inviting, with friendly staff who go above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcome. While there can be some noise during busy times—like children's birthday parties—the overall vibe remains enjoyable.
Spent a day in Whitstable and 3 of us enjoyed a 2 course lunch menu, great value at £14.95, great starter of brushetta, pizzas including vegan, and vegan zillionaire hot chocolate fudge cake with honeycomb. Food was excellent, as was the service. We had a free jug of water, a large Peroni and an oat Americano. Will be going back.

We had a lovely lunch at Zizzi in Whitstable with family. The service is excellent, we were very well looked after. Seafood restaurant
Harbour Garden Cafe is a contemporary and relaxed cafe/bar by the waterfront, offering a delightful selection of local oysters, crab, and lobster. Seafood enthusiasts will find this place excellent for their cravings. The service provided is friendly and attentive, which was particularly appreciated during the busy Good Friday bank holiday weekend. Despite being informed of a potential 40-minute wait for food (a helpful expectation management), the actual wait time was pleasantly shorter. The seafront ambiance adds to its charm.
Amazing Food, it’s a must go if your in the Whitstable area highly recommend, the only reason I gave the atmosphere 3 stars is cause there was a lot of dogs barking and one of the dogs hair was flying all over our meals so maybe have a section for dog owners or no dogs allowed in this beautiful restaurant.
Chris L — Google review
Yesterday we had lunch for the first time at The Harbour Garden in Whitstable. We didn’t have a reservation, but the manager greeted us at the door with a warm smile and kindly found us a table. We went with our two dogs, and it was a lovely experience overall. The decoration transported us, it truly felt like we were dining somewhere in Spain. The weather was warm, the atmosphere was cheerful, and our server Freya was absolutely outstanding. Her kindness and attentiveness made our lunch extra special. She was a delight! Now, regarding the food: The oysters were delicious 🦪, but the lobster salad was just okay, and the mussels were fine, not amazing, but I still enjoyed them because I love mussels. In our opinion, the food was a bit overpriced for what we got. ✨ Service & atmosphere: 5/5 🍽️ Food: 4/5 💷 Value for money: 3/5 One important thing to mention is the restroom situation: you have to exit the restaurant and walk for a few minutes to find the bathrooms, which isn’t ideal, especially for people with mobility issues or in wheelchairs, as you need to pass through a bar area. On the bright side, this place is dog-friendly and has plenty of water bowls for furry friends 🐶💦. The service from the manager, Freya, and the entire staff was excellent. Sadly, we won’t return for a meal, but we’ll definitely be back for drinks with a view! 😉 Thank you again, Freya, for your wonderful service.

Amazing place — great food, beautiful views, and such a fantastic atmosphere! It’s also dog friendly, which is a big plus. Everything we had was outstanding — from the bread to start, to our mains, and my husband’s dessert. The only reason I’ve given 4 stars is the price. For lunch, it came to £123 for the two of us (one drink each, bread to start, one main each, and a dessert), which makes it quite expensive and not somewhere most people could visit often. That said, it’s a truly stunning spot and perfect for a special occasion or treat.

Wanted, as you do, fish and chips by the sea. Visited Whitstable, and after a bit of an ordeal parking at the harbour, had built up an appetite. The Harbour Garden looked like the place but was very busy, so we waited to be seated, which took no time at all. One of the several happy smiling waitresses immediately took our drinks order and then subsequently our food order.

Will not be returning fish and chips crab salad one beer and one Diet Coke £71

I absolutely loved this hotel for several reasons. The location, right across from the ocean, is truly unbeatable. We opted for the superior room with a balcony, and it was definitely worth the splurge. Watching the sunset with a cup of tea and a cozy blanket was a highlight. The rooms themselves were both comfortable and impeccably clean. We had no trouble with parking; there’s a small lot at the back, and the front becomes more available later in the day. The staff in housekeeping and the restaurants/bars were fantastic, although the front desk could have been a bit friendlier. The pub and outside patio was always buzzing with people. Food and drinks were tasty and reasonably priced. Just a short walk across the street to grab an ice cream and check out Tankerton beach and the colourful beach huts.

Great location. We had a good sized room with a beach view and a small balcony. Bed was comfortable and the room had all the facilities you would expect. We had a wonderful time at the Marine Hotel in Whitstable. The staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms are beautifully appointed and the ones with the sea view are just fantastic. The hotel is clean, with lots of areas for relaxing, for drinks & snacks. We also had breakfast which was included with our room. There are very good options and they are certainly satisfying. The lunch is superb with fresh oysters on the menu - I highly recommend these. The hotel is conveniently located by the Tankerton Slopes which are a short walk from Whitstable beach and the pretty high street. We walked from the train station which took about 25 mins. It’s also a quick walk to the bus stop to go to Canterbury, which is a must do day trip. I can’t wait to come back.

While enjoying drinks at the bar, I noticed bunnies and a play structure that kept the kids entertained. Unfortunately, they were out of prawns that evening. My nephew opted for the pulled pork nachos which had an abundant amount of pork and could have easily been a meal on its own. Although not exactly like traditional California Mexican nachos, it appeared to be satisfyingly filling.
We visited on a Tuesday night and the pub and restaurant were quite busy. We had a warm welcome and friendly from the landlord and waitress. The food was lovely traditional pub food, local sausages and mash and a chicken and ham pie and mash. Served with fresh vegetables which were included in the price (as they should be imo!). We had a very nice evening and will return next time we’re in Whitstable. The owner of our Airbnb recommended two other places to eat and I’ll tell her to recommend The Monument too!

August, 2024 review I come here to eat sometimes. Some staff are more friendly than others, but all staff are polite. Food is usually good, and when there's issues they are quick to fix them. Portion sizes are good too. Can be hard to get a hold of someone as its a pub if dining in. Locals discount is a nice addition. Toilet room is good. Nice smelling soap, powerful hands dryer. Clean. Could do with larger windows without panes, but I guess it's a historic building so they're limited with what they can do. Can't fault the place. Would recommend. - Update Dec 2024 Beef lasagna was terrible. Cheap cheese is now used, almost no lasagna sheets and no flavour. Massive portion but just pure grease from the cheap cheese. This dish used to be a safe bet. Sadly not anymore. Thai green curry good... Except there's a weird taste of ghee but like it's gone bad. Cost £28 - Photos added Having now been here a lot, I'll say, the food is very inconsistent. Both in what you get on the plate portion wise... For example sometimes there's less veg, and flavour wise. Sometimes it's really bad. Last few times has been really bad.

Had an epic Easter Sunday lunch for the family. My wife had the soup which she said was the best she had for a very long time. It was leek and potato but had a mint oil dressing. Starters of Parma ham and cheese and chorizo balls went down well. We all had roast. Lamb, chicken and several of us had beef. Perfectly cooked. Masses of roast potatoes and fresh veg. Can’t fault it. Highly recommended

We reserved a table for dinner with family. Got drinks at the bar. They have a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. There were bunnies and a play structure for the kids. Sadly, they were out of prawns that night. Nephew ordered the pulled pork nachos that had a lot of pork. He could have had it as a meal. It was not quite like a California Mexican nachos but it looked filling. I had the crab dip for an appetizer and the chicken Caesar salad for my main dish. They were generous with the chicken and the anchovies. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the two Catman pieces painted outside. I love his art and discovered him when we were here 3 years ago.

3 of us plus the dog visited today and we were in the bar area for food. Really homely type dinner served which were lovely and can't fault it at all, warm atmosphere, really good and attentive service. No rush approach too which was nice, will definitely visit again. Thanks for having us :)

Was in the Monument for Sunday lunch. It’s a friendly pub with great food.Food was presented well and hot .Our waitress was very friendly and always checking everything was ok .For dessert I had cinnamon and pear crumble just can’t decide if it’s as good as mine or better 🙂Always enjoy my meal at The Monument.

After a very friendly reception we enjoyed an excellent snack lunch and will definitely be back for drinks and to test the restaurant. The Sunday roast is very tempting, especially if the roast beef is up to the same standard as the beef in the rare beef open sandwich. 😋

Nestled in the charming coastal town of Whitstable, The Oyster Pearl is a delightful 18th-century brick pub that beautifully marries historical charm with modern flair. With its airy interior and intriguing external features, this establishment has a rich past as a haven for smugglers who once used the nearby beaches for their clandestine activities. Surrounded by caravan parks, it’s an inviting spot for both locals and visitors alike.
Wonderful restaurant close to the beach. Portions were great + the kitchen crew (Asian) know what they’re doing even on their varied menu - good classic English + Asian dishes. Really want to come back to try more of the Asian dishes too. 3 mins walk to beach.

The staff were friendly and allowed the dog, but we had to sit out of the main restaurant. The main restaurant looked lovely and would have been a nice place to celebrate our 30 th anniversary. The meal was great but we didn't like the pub atmosphere, just a shame we had to take the dog with us, she enjoyed the bowl of water though that was kindly given.

We loved the variety of food here! It’s rare to find a pub that serves oysters plus both Asian and Western dishes in one place. Everyone was happy with their choices.

Very beautiful Bar/Restaurant by the sea, I enjoyed a much needed treat of Fish and Chips with a drink, was served by lovely team members. Restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating areas and it was lovely to listen to live entertainment outside also. I enjoyed the space and the atmosphere, walk by the sea which made it very special. Thank you ☆☆☆☆☆

Absolute gem! We went for iftar today with family and children. Very cozy and friendly restaurant, friendly staff and great service. All meat served were halal, had option to have non beer-battered fish. Portions were very good. The only negative thing would be, the starter calamari was bit small in portion, but super tasty! Would 100% recommend this place!

Excellent customer service from Harry today when 4 of us met up for a family lunch. A warm welcome was received from Harry as he was opening up on a very wet & windy day. We were well early for our meet up so he prepared a couple of coffee’s for my wife & I. The atmosphere was relaxed & we weren’t rushed to order our food. The food was good quality, hot & well present with a good selection of options. We had deserts, equally nice. We hadn’t been here before but we were glad we went there. Thank you Harry for making us feel so welcome.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an absolutely fantastic experience at The Oyster Pearl Bar & Restaurant in Seasalter. From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive — the service was excellent. We ordered a few of the Asian-inspired dishes, and they were absolutely incredible. You could taste the authenticity and care in every bite, the chef (who we understand is Asian) clearly brings real expertise and passion to the kitchen. The flavors were fresh and beautifully balanced and the presentation was just as impressive. It’s rare to find a place where both the food and the service are outstanding, but The Oyster Pearl absolutely delivered. We’re already looking forward to coming back and will be recommending it to friends and family without hesitation!

Nice and cool because of the fans. The food was ok but my chicken katsu was the worst I've ever had. The chicken was precooked breaded then deep-fried making the chicken hard to eat the only soft bit was the soaked outer shell of the breadcrumbs. Came back 19th of August had the battered king prawns with sweet chilli sauce. For main we had the large sizzling king prawns and the crispy chicken strips with mash instead of rice. The sizzling was not sizzling and the sauce was gloopy with soft vegetables prawns were good. The chicken strips i thought would be better than the katsu chicken i said in my last review, but these were worse. Told the waitress who said she would leave a message for the manager and San. We have been regulars for years but for my sister to complain well probably won't be back. Also I noticed there was nobody else eating and only 2 at the bar. Its a shame it used to be a great pub.

Mucini is a charming family-owned Italian restaurant that offers a wide range of authentic Italian dishes made with locally-sourced ingredients. The menu features an array of options including gluten-free pasta, seafood, chicken, beef, and vegetable dishes. Guests can also enjoy a selection of wines, spirits, and beers to complement their meals. Visitors have praised the attentive staff and the welcoming atmosphere. The chef-owner's personal attention to food preparation has been highlighted as well.
We ended up here while visiting Whitstable for the weekend and had a lovely meal! The lamb was so good, meatballs tasty and the best cheesy garlic bread ever. The staff were all so lovely. Oh and the apple tiramisu was so good - especially as I've never had tiramisu since it always has coffee in it. Really recommend coming here for the lovely old school feel. Thank you for a great welcome in Whitstable 😍

The best place you can eat in the area. Very friendly staff, awesome owner, best food. I'm not in the area often, but since I've discovered the place a year ago, every time I was around I did my best to come around. Defo recommend for the ones trying to find a different culinary experience in the area!

Poor service, absolutely shocking. Food was very slow in coming, over an hour in getting our mains, but to be fair was delicious and fresh on arrival. It seemed that preferential customers were served first. There was the chef cooking and serving, only one waitress. The owner, he was the chef, was engaging and made us feel welcome. Having to pay cash in this modern world us not welcoming though. Not to t return this restaurant in a hurry. .

A proper Italian restaurant. A great find. Lunch today, 3 of us. Impeccable service, every detail in the dishes absolutely perfect. Lots of choice in the menu (no pizza, I'm very glad to say), so plenty to go back for. Not cheap but expertly crafted and delivered food. Decor a bit dated and cash only, which is unexpected in this day and age.

The risotto was undercooked and the older lady who serves here is the most unfriendliest person. The atmosphere felt inadequate, and its cash only or bank transfer!!!!

What a gorgeous experience. We were greeted at the door but a happy lovely attentive young man who took us to our seats. We are a pain and wanted to change some bits on the dishes, which was no problem to them at all. The bruschetta was out of this world and my king prawn linguine was cooked perfection with loads of flavour. I loved being able to see the chef who is also the owner cook the meals and he came and personally wanted to see how our food was. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to try the tapas menu!

During my recent culinary adventure at the Star of Bengal, I was treated to an experience that went beyond just a meal; it was a feast for the senses. The curries were a delightful symphony of spices, each bite revealing layers of flavor that danced on my palate—both fiery and delicate. This establishment beautifully marries traditional recipes with modern flair, creating dishes that are as visually stunning as they are delicious. I also enjoyed an incredible lunch here, where the value for money was outstanding!
Visited on bank holiday Monday. A belated birthday celebration with my daughter and other family. Staff were very attentive and quick to bring out drinks and food. Huge menu and everything looked and tasted amazing. Good portion sizes. Free drink at the end too. We’ve been several times now and it never disappoints.

We have just left the Star of Bengal. We are curry fans and this was one of the nicest curries! The service wasn't too quick but not too slow. We had a mixture of vegetarian and meat dishes. They were all great. The price was reasonable for a family of 4. Highly recommend The Star of Bengal.

Average Bengali Indian adapted for white people. Food hit or miss sadly. Prices are nuts now due to the cost of living crisis. A garlic naan bread is basically £4 now. For 1. Not their fault of course. Cost of living crisis affects everyone other than the ultra rich.

Had an absolutely incredible lunch, the deal provided so much food and an excellent value for money whilst also tasting incredible. Was amazing as a vegetarian to have a choice of options and I can highly recommend the paneer! Our sever was lovely and we didn’t have to wait long at all. Would definitely recommend and especially with the lunch deal!

Last evening I dined at an establishment whose culinary prowess transcends mere sustenance and ventures into the realm of aesthetic rapture. The curries, resplendent with spices of labyrinthine subtlety, unfolded across the palate like movements of a well-tempered raga—at once fiery and delicate, opulent yet precise. Each dish bore the imprint of both tradition and refinement, a harmonious dialogue between rustic authenticity and metropolitan elegance. Service, meanwhile, was conducted with a choreography of unobtrusive attentiveness, elevating the experience beyond the quotidian. In sum, this restaurant is less a place to eat than a sanctum wherein gastronomy becomes poetry.

I recently celebrated my birthday at Star of Bengal and was thoroughly impressed. The tikka masala was exceptional. It was beautifully balanced with a rich, creamy sauce and just the right depth of spice. Each bite was full of flavour, making it one of the most memorable curries I’ve had. The service was warm and attentive without ever feeling rushed, and the restaurant itself had a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere that added to the occasion. Overall, Taste of Bengal made my birthday meal feel truly special, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in search of authentic, high-quality Indian cuisine.

Absolutely amazing service!!! Didn’t catch the guy’s name but he was on his own Friday lunch time and was fantastic! Food …. Chicken and waffles had me straight away and did not disappoint. Brilliant venue, brilliant team and amazing food! Well worth a visit!!

The rock lodge has a truly superb, unique look- it's unlike any other restaurant. The service was friendly and the prices are ok. However, my experience had a rocky start: I checked the menu online and was excited about a specific dish, but the printed menu was different and my choice wasn't available. After finally choosing something new, the food itself was just good, not "wow." I was disappointed, especially after all the positive reviews. My meal had clear issues: the rosemary fries lacked rosemary flavor, and the cheese in burger was completely unmelted. After trying rosemary ice cream in shop nearby I was ready for another rosemary bomb but left little disappointed. The lunch menu was looking great, but it was only till 4pm. I’m sure there’s plenty other good food that you can try. Maybe I was just unlucky this time.

Super impressed with the roasts and general quality of the food. Super dog friendly, even serving our doggo his own roast dinner in a bowl. Legends. We went to the Rock Lodge for our anniversary, we had a truly great time. Food was very good although it could have been a bit warmer. The music and ambience was wonderful! It was quite, but I guess it was midweek. The only negatives for me were the food should have been warmer and when getting the bill we'd been charged £33 extra for a second bottle of wine that we didn't have, hense the 4 stars and not 5 because of the food not being hot enough and the mistake on the bill. Maybe a bit over critical! Overall we will go back!

Had been meaning to try for a long time & I’m gutted we didn’t! What an absolute gem in the heart of Tankerton. The inside is much larger than it looks & is decorated to create a nice atmosphere with comfortable seating & space. The staff, from the minute we arrived until we left were outstanding! You can tell Every member of staff is invested in the restaurants success, giving the best service available. Attentive, not over the top, knowledgeable & polite. The menu had great options, a twist on the usual Italian choices & having three vegan options plus others that can be changed is impressive for this area. A good choice of alcohol free beer, wine & cocktails is also unusual & very welcome. The food arrived looking spectacular, the finishing touches thought through & all of our party were impressed with the portion size (just enough) & the taste. 3 of us had the mushroom pasta that was naturally vegan with the fresh home made pasta soft but tasty & just enough to feel satisfied. Good choice of deserts & a vegan cheesecake with strawberry coulis which was like jam, could have just had that in a tub! All three courses were impressive & all four of us enjoyed each one which never happens when we go out. I hope they change the menu regularly (especially the vegan options) as that’s a frustration for regular diners out. We will definitely be back to try the lunch & Sunday afternoon menu & I truly wish this restaurant every success as they deserve it.. 10/10 all round..

Located on the opposite side of the road is Ossies Fish Bar, a popular establishment bustling with customers. Opting to dine there proved to be a wise choice as their servings were generous and their fish was delectable. Widely regarded as one of the finest establishments in the UK, Ossies Fish Bar boasts friendly and helpful staff who even provided complimentary chips during wait times.
Fish and chips tasted delicious and fresh. Lovely meal and very friendly gents working there.

After previously enjoying the fresh cod today it was a disappointment therefore lost our custom going forward. The fish was clearly frozen and the batter was soggy. The chips weren’t great either. Furthermore as we bought to takeaway they forgot to add tissues and forks so had to return to get them. Overall a let down and won’t return again.
M C — Google review
Overpriced and disappointing takeaway! We stopped by this place for a takeaway fish, I just ordered the fish on its own and a portion of scampi. At first glance, it looked like a casual spot with decent prices, but it ended up being a real disappointment — both in terms of food and value. I was charged £9.90 for just the fish, which is the kind of price you’d expect to pay in a sit-down pub or restaurant — not for something wrapped in paper and handed over in a plastic bag. Even more surprising, sauces like ketchup, mayo, and tartar were not included and cost 60p each for tiny single-use portions. For a classic British takeaway, this just feels wrong. The fish itself was underwhelming — oily, bland, and without any salt. Since it was takeaway, there wasn’t even a chance to add condiments myself. Overall, it felt like I paid a restaurant price for a very basic, disappointing experience. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. One star from me.

I typically don't choose salads as my main course, but at The Bubble Cafe, I opted for potato salad with toppings like fajita peppers and curried cauliflower. The dressing was delicious and the overall taste was very fresh. My only suggestion would be to enhance the seasoning on the cauliflower. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, while the views from the window were impressive even on a cloudy day.
Awesome find. Small cafe, immaculate with sparkling clean toilets, beautifully decorated. Amazing views and a wonderful atmosphere. Lovely professional staff. It's possibly the best BLT I've ever had. Everything was delicious. There were 10 of us plus 2 dogs. A few ate outside. Couldn't be happier. Thanks to all the team. Great job.

I can't fault this awesome café one bit. I don't know how many times I walked past it! Went in this morning. Really nice inside, open and airy. Great large windows with a fantastic sea view. Had french toast. Perfect. It was the first time in many years I haven't had to ask for more maple syrup. Just right! Coffee was excellent too. Am really happy I discovered this place. With a little help from a family member. I was resistant. Glad it was strongly suggested. I'll be back. Possibly my new favourite in Whitstable 🙂

We visited The Bubble this afternoon for lunch. Great atmosphere and beautiful views of the sea. We ordered a bacon sandwich, cheese & tomato sandwich and 2 brie and bacon toasties, with 4 drinks. The staff were all friendly and provided just the right level of service. Quick and efficient is the way I would describe the customer service. I'd definitely recommend this place for a pit stop.

Good food, slightly distracted staff, very loud when lots of people are in. Can get a bit hot and stuffy in the room. Prices are reasonable, food is good, choices can be limited but it's constantly varying which is nice.

Beach Cafe is a welcoming establishment that offers a variety of delicious food and beverages. Situated in a pleasant location, this eatery provides a warm and inviting atmosphere with outdoor seating available. The menu includes an assortment of hot breakfast options, lunch plates, and sandwiches. The staff is amiable and accommodating, always greeting patrons with smiles. The club sandwich and ploughman sandwich are both enjoyable choices.
This place is a must, if your looking for breakfast! Nice staff, dog friendly, good atmosphere, right next to the sea. The food was amazing, the English breakfast comes with tea or coffee included for only 12 Pounds. And you can NOT complain about the portion sizes here, if your hungry this is the place for you. Absolutely recommended.

Good, plentiful food. Good friendly service. Only dropped the rating for the atmosphere as it was quite loud from a group of lads. But as I'm sure they chose it because a great place for a full English.

Great little place. Very friendly and great service. I had the American pancakes with streaky bacon and maple syrup. Normally this isn't too special but this was prepared very well. Ordered a cappuccino and it was surprisingly good too. Fair pricing and great food. I recommend for sure!

Maybe we caught them on a bad day. Yes I understand they're probably busy with tourists and I'm sure it's hard work. But the last thing we expected was the gruff greeting we received. We definitely didn't expect to get an eye roll from the grumpy waitress when we went to sit at a table and she obviously felt I was in her way. We were so put off that we left immediately. It's too bad as we're locals and this is a very convenient location. But luckily there are so many other lovely places in Whitstable.

Nestled in an enviable riverside location, it offers both indoor and charming outdoor seating options. Guests can indulge in a fantastic set lunch menu featuring two courses at an unbeatable price, showcasing dishes like chicken satay and the flavorful Thai Green Chicken curry. If you want to enjoy Thai beer and some traditional food. It’s better and taste. This place I suggest when you have a lot of choice and Moo Kata is so good. Oh, waiter(Austin) also friendly with great service the other as well. Come and taste it.

Just had an amazing dinner at this Thai BBQ place! The food was super fresh, well-marinated, and absolutely delicious — especially the pork and seafood selection.🔥🥓🦐 Big shoutout to Sine, our server, who made the whole experience even better! She was so friendly, helpful, and attentive. Her recommendations were on point, and her service mindset was truly impressive. 💖 Highly recommend this spot if you’re craving a great grill experience with warm, thoughtful service. Will definitely come back again!

Away from the main drag, you wouldn't stumble on this place by accident, but worth discovering. Characteristically attentive and charming people, and authentic Thai dishes served in an... interesting setting. I'd say its 'highly flammable' interior decor must be a shocking dust trap but ignoring that and the Food Hygiene rating of 4... ... I had a vegetable tempura. Not the crispiest tempura for miles around but the vegetables seemed fresh. Interesting to have onion in there, the dipping sauce was per standard but with added chilli flakes (possibly because I'd requested an extra hot main). Veg/tofu Massaman was good, the sauce was super thin but this is more like the sauces I've had in Thailand than the thickened affairs expected in the UK, so I was good with it as the flavour was there. Had the coconut rice which was rich and a good complement for the sauce. Really surprised to find mango sticky rice was a) on the menu and b) available. So rare to find ticks for both in the UK, and it was delicious. I'm hoping the oil's a bit hotter for the tempura next time as I'll be back... with my dog, as apparently they're welcome too!!

The hidden gem in Whitstable it was my birthday and first visit to Thai Orchid. Staff were lovely, for a Wednesday night the restaurant was very busy. Will definitely be going back. I was given the most beautiful birthday card a really nice touch

Authentic and full of flavor! The starter was fresh and crispy, the pad Krapow perfectly balanced, and the spicy mushroom with basil had just the right kick. Friendly service and cozy atmosphere made the experience even better. Don’t miss the mango sticky rice—an absolute must-try. Highly recommended for Thai food lovers!

Delicious traditional food in a relaxed and decorative setting. Friendly and quick service. Loads of options - the chicken massaman was delicious! Also loved the chaing beer. They had lots of desserts too which I haven’t seen at Thai restaurants before, I’ll be sure to try them when I return next.

Authentic Thai BBQ (Moo Kra Ta) Experience in the UK 🇹🇭🔥 I stumbled upon this hidden gem while craving Thai-style barbecue, and I’m so glad I did! If you’re looking for a truly authentic Moo Kra Ta experience in the UK, this place delivers on every level. If you’re missing Thai comfort food or want to try something new and fun with friends, I highly recommend this place. It truly feels like a taste of home away from home, especially with service as lovely as Austin’s!

We had a great evening at the Thai Orchid restaurant. We arrived for a early dinner (around 6pm), the friendly staff showed us to a table. It was moderatly busy for a Tuesday dinner. Menus are really clear on what is available Vegan. They have a lot of options. We went with the Royal Starter platter to share, tempura vegetables, tofu, homemade spring rolls and vegetable "prawn" toast with a generous amount of dipping sauce. Our favourite part was the vegetable "prawn" toast, it had a great sesame taste. The main course we had the Thai Green Curry with Tofu and Vegetables and the Panang Curry with Tofu and Vegetables, with a portion of Thai Sticky Rice to share. We both thoroughly enjoyed the curries, the rice was just the right amount for the both of us. We ended up not trying the dessert as we were absolutely full from the first 2 courses. Next time we will have a smaller starter. For drinks we had a apple mojito mocktail and a pint of the Thai beer. Both drinks very enjoyable. We will be back again :)

I happened to come across Quayside Bar while searching for restaurants that are both dog and baby friendly. Despite being quite busy at 5pm, the staff managed to find a great table near the window. The drinks were served quickly and the food followed in a timely manner. The dishes were delicious, well-portioned, and the service was attentive. Compared to similar establishments I've tried before, Quayside Bar offered great value for money.
Wowzer the new management have got this!!! Well done Fiona and team. Just had the roast dinner party of 7 and every single one was on point. Staff are lovely and make you feel welcome. We will be back next week 🥰🥰

Came here for dinner with my family and sister's family. Service was fantastic, the guy looking after us (and the whole pub it seemed!) Was brilliant. Super friendly, knew his stuff and was great with the kids. Food was really yummy. It was actually nice to have a menu that didn't have loads on! A good simple menu that had good classics on, and done well. Great value for money too. We will definitely be back!

The Quayside bar & kitchen is a cut above the usual pub food found along Weymouth quayside. You won’t find fried fish here. Instead you’ll find some thoughtful recipes designed to bring out the exquisite qualities of fresh sea food. I’ll state straight away I’m not a great sea food fan. However there is some fish I like, and it should be noted that this restaurant does have choices for those like me, or indeed for those not liking any sea food. I had salmon pasta and very nice it was too. Another person in my party loves sea food and he absolutely loved his dish. All in all we were very satisfied. There was a minor hiccup in that one dish was meant to come with diced fried potato and not fries, but they’d run out of the former. That was a shame because the person who ordered it specifically wanted to take a break from fries/chips. As I say, this was a minor hiccup. The service was fantastic. The waiter was very helpful. Also he skilfully steered himself around the cringeworthy jokes from an elderly member of our group. He gave 100% and for that I am most appreciative. On leaving the restaurant I recommend that you take in the nice surroundings of the restaurant, with a walk by the water. There are many other pubs in that area, ideal for a nightcap. Enjoy!

Thirty Nine Whitstable, located on Oxford Street, is a cozy and highly praised independent restaurant and cafe. It has received accolades for its "amazing" food, "quick service," and "friendly atmosphere." The establishment offers gluten-free options and serves brunch, lunch, and dinner. Guests have commended the warm welcome from the owners and the attentive service. The menu features delightful small plates with adaptations available for those with dietary restrictions.
Some of the best food we’ve ever eaten! We are devastated to have been just visiting the area, and would highly consider coming back just for this place! There were several gluten free/vegan options, and Lauren went above and beyond to accommodate my gluten allergy. Prices were fair, cocktails were amazing, and we had wonderful and prompt service from Roy. This level of hospitality cannot be beat, I would recommend to anyone.

This is a creative, welcoming restaurant with a talented chef. I visited Whitstable with two good friends and visiting 39 (or Lauren's as I prefer to call it) was one of our highlights. Whitstable is already a place worth celebrating for its pretty scenery, clear blue sea and independent shops, and this place was a hidden gem - though not so hidden as we found it through good Google reviews! We were very kindly welcomed by Fairlie and Roy and enjoyed the cocktails, with Head Chef Lauren's Lemon Drop being the winner! The food was a delicious fusion of flavours! We found that five of the small plates shared by three of us was filling enough that we didn't ask for a desert. I would recommend giving 39/Lauren's a try for its food, creative gallery feel and friendly ambience and if Roy is there he will happily tell you about the local area so do ask him!

Came across this place on walk back to our Airbnb. It was completely empty and we debated going in but we weren't disappointed. What was a short break in Whitstable with friends, I came across Thirty Nine via a Google search for dinner and cocktails, and it is the perfect place for both. The atmosphere is relaxed, warm and welcoming with some quirky details, such as the wonderful canvas art by local artists. A family-run business, it is clear to see that owner, Lauren is passionate about food, which was delicious. We chose a selection of small plates to share, of which there is a great choice of meat and vegetarian options. Our waitress, Fairlie was super friendly and made us feel so welcome along with her fellow server, Roy, a chatty mature gentleman (and Lauren's dad!) who was wonderful to talk to about the surrounding areas as if you were in a country pub catching up over Kent life. We stayed for over three hours here and never felt rushed, which is testament to how welcoming the team were. Top marks for their customer service - they put so much effort into ensuring we were happy and having a good time. For anyone staying in or visiting Whitstable, I would highly recommend Thirty Nine for the food, atmosphere and friendly staff. We had a lovely time here, so thank you!

What an amazing hidden gem in Whitstable! I was warmly welcomed by the owners of this delightful family, independent business😌Lauren & Tamsin went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable from where I sat, to the music and the temperature. I felt very looked after, like I was visiting friends🤗I opted for a selection of small plates. Each and every one was delightful! Being gluten & dairy free, Lauren went out of her way to adapt the dishes to my exact liking. They were all delicious with an authentic, south East Asian twist. From the Vietnamese prawn rolls, to the best chicken goujons I’ve ever had! The squid was👌🏽 I highly recommend this restaurant for locals and tourists alike! Thank you Lauren & Tamsin for your friendly conversation, care and excellent customer experience. I really enjoyed my dinner with you. I hope your business goes from strength to strength✨

Cocktails lovely staff great - just update menus and I think manager should have honoured it. But didn't.

Myself and my family stayed at Penny Lodge for my wedding eve celebrations. It was a lovely unique vinted house with traditional furniture, with 3 large bedrooms and sofa bed in the lounge you couldn't ask fir anything more. Staff had left the place spotless with cold cans of water in the fridge, coffee, tea and sugar were supplied and for that extra touch individual packets were there for our arrival. Breakfast was included with our stay which was a cooked breakfast and a continental choice of pastries, croissants, fruit and cereal, staff were lovely to. Would definitely stay there again

Myself and my new wife stayed in room5 for our wedding night, great sea view from the balcony, room was small but clean. As it was our wedding night, which the staff knew we were very disappointed with no hot drink facilities or cold water, there was no glasses for drink in the room. As we were newly weds we thought there would be something provided for us as we had numerous conversations with staff about our wedding including the night before. Very 😞

The property has two spacious bedrooms (on the first and second floors): one double, and one that can be configured as a double or twin. Each room has its own bathroom. Perhaps it was the day of the week Saturday we visited, but the service and communication from the staff was very poor. We waited for over a hour from receiving starters and unto the main course arrived and no attempt was made to explain until we challenged. Takeaway deliveries appeared to have higher priority than sit down diners. However the food was good, just a shame it took so long to arrive.

Visited the restaurant on a Sunday evening on 24th August . It wasn’t too busy. Ordered our food both starters and mains. We had to chase for the starters which arrived 35 minutes after ordering, the mains took over an hour and 10 minutes to get to us. No apologies, or communication from the staff . The food was good but the wait was ridiculous. Takeaway orders seemed to take priority throughout the evening. We won’t be visiting again .

There are a number of Indian restaurants in Whitstable and being local we have tried them all over the last 15 years but we keep coming back to Shobab both dine in and takeaway options, we’ve always enjoyed them to be one of the best in the town, however our takeaway tonight was on another level, really delicious, great depth of flavour and good portions with generous amounts of chicken and prawns in our respective dishes. I’m not sure what changes they have made to completely set them apart from everyone else but finger’s crossed they continue with them!!

Nestled just off the beach near Horsebridge, The Lazy Lobster is a charming new eatery that has breathed fresh life into an old 19th-century pub, previously known as The Prince Albert. As the sister restaurant to Land and Sea in Tankerton, it offers a delightful array of seafood dishes alongside vegetarian and meat options, all beautifully crafted. This cozy spot boasts a relaxed atmosphere where diners can indulge in seasonal specialties paired with an impressive selection of wines and gins.
On a quiet Monday afternoon myself and my partner had a lovely lunch including their fried oysters, Scottish scallops, monkfish tail in vegetables, grilled prawns and the most incredible crown prince squash fritti with truffle honey & parmesan & hispi cabbage (best I've had). All accompanied by some cool art work on display and a decent but small wine list. Service was attentive without being intrusive and not rushed. It was a delightful way to spend a late summer afternoon.

Lazy Lobster is an absolute gem! The staff, especially Luke, are incredibly friendly and helpful, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The seafood platter is a standout—fresh, generous, and with the added bonus of a full lobster, it’s a seafood lover’s dream. The grilled sourdough bread is delightfully yummy, and the lamb chop is cooked to perfection. Everything feels fresh and thoughtfully prepared. On top of that, the vibe of the place is relaxed and welcoming, making it a great spot to enjoy a delicious meal. Highly recommend!

Quite probably the best meal I ate whilst in Whitstable, yes it was also the most expensive by some margin but the standard is absolutely heads and shoulders above the other places we ate which were marginally cheaper. The oysters were outstanding, a shame they were £4 a pop as I would have happily had a dozen of them. The other dish of excellence is the tuna tartare which is absolutely phenomenal. The lobster was pleasant but I think I would have preferred a buttery base opposed to the masala base. All in all, just great - thank you.

Some of the best food in whitstable. Fun, lively pub atmosphere. The food was generally very good - our favourites were the scallops, deep fried oysters and mussels. We were really disappointed the lobster XO noodles weren’t on the menu anymore as all the reviews said it was the best dish 💔 It also definitely is on the more expensive side than other places in the area. In terms of the menu originality and creativity the prices seem fair as it’s the best you’ll get in Whitstable - however some dishes for instance the half lobster you really don’t get much for your money - similarly £4 per oyster adds up pretty fast when you want a few each. Our bill came to roughly £70 each with just one glass of wine (we did definitely over order on food though 😂)
Sophie B — Google review
Was very disappointed today, the seafood platter looked amazing but unfortunately a majority of the seafood was tasteless . My husband enjoyed the oysters but other then that the seafood had no flavor at all. I eat shell on prawns all the time as I love them, this is the first time I have ever had them with zero taste at all, we were very disappointed. It looked like it was going to be amazing but we both agreed it was very very disappointing

Cute corner restaurant and bar. Great seafood and selection of dishes. We tried the scallop, skate, tuna tartare, Parmesan truffle fries and fried potatoes with anchovies. Everything comes with a flavourful twist. The green curry sauce with the scallops was interesting and complimentary. Highly recommend the tuna tartare, spicy and unctuous. Well presented and great service.

Came here for a midweek lunch during a day trip to Whitstable, based on the reviews. It has a high rating for a reason! The food was absolutely delicious and, although it might not be the cheapest, it felt very reasonably priced given the quality. Highlights for us were: sourdough bread with butter (soo tasty!), fresh oysters, scallops (not pictured) and mussels. We also had the prawns, skate wing, fried oysters, croquettes, anchovies (not pictured) and frites (not pictured) - all of which were also very good. The servers were very friendly, although it was all a touch slow - there were two waitresses covering the restaurant and bar and I think a reduced number of staff in the kitchen, but we didn’t mind the leisurely pace too much as we weren’t in a particular hurry.

On a recommendation of a chef friend of ours, we booked lunch on a beautifully sunny Wednesday last week. Lovely reception from the staff. Menu is tapas style but infinity variable. We ordered five dishes to share, and this was plenty for the three of us. the food freshly cooked in an open kitchen and is nicely presented but tastes brilliant! Posh cheesey chips are magnificent. Inviting interior and attentive service. Would have been good not to have to ask for serving spoons for every dish, every time. Hits - Oysters (fresh and the relish was delicious) - Sardine and octopus ragu with orecchiette (flavoursome and the pasta cooked just right) - Cod loin and clams Misses - Scallops (too oily and too many flavours competing) - Fried bread and butter pudding (was more deconstructed and the bread was very sweet and too crispy)

This place feels like home from the moment you step in, thanks to the exceptionally warm service. The coffee is superb and their cakes are not only delicious but also generously portioned. Their lunch menu offers a variety of healthy options, including a bagel with halloumi, all served with a side salad.
Friendly, delicious, generous portions and a great selection. I admit it, I’m from the States. When we come to visit, we adjust our expectations about breakfast out. We wandered into Whitstable Cafe sort of by accident, and we were hungry. The menu here is extensive, and everyone found something terrific. We had Bubble with Tiger Toast (a stack), bagel sandwiches from around the world, delicious espresso drinks, a gorgeous avocado toast with salmon and chili flake, omelet and more. We stayed in the comfy diner-style restaurant longer than we expected, and came away well-sated for a very reasonable fee. Thanks, Whitstable Cafe, we’ll be back!

The food was lovely, but very expensive for a sausage, onion,a few crisps & salad, also a latte coffee, over £13.00! Really! Then they don't take card,so I was told to withdraw money from the cash point across the road, it's a good job I am a honest person,as I could of just walked off! As a business you really need to consider alot of what I've said. Really not impressed. Also within 30min I have a serious upset tummy, terrible 😔 But the positive was the gentleman who served me was very polite & nice.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 – Whitstable Café Whitstable Café offers good value for money and is a solid choice for a casual bite in the area. The prices are wallet-friendly, and the portion sizes are undeniably generous — great if you’re hungry or looking to stretch your budget. That said, the emphasis leans more toward quantity over quality. The food is average overall: filling and decent, but nothing especially memorable. Greasiness can be an issue with some of the heavier dishes such as the full English. Service is a bit of a mixed bag. On some visits, the staff are wonderfully attentive and welcoming; on others, attentiveness can noticeably dip, especially when the café is busier. Still, the overall atmosphere remains friendly, and the staff do make an effort to create a relaxed and unpretentious environment. One small improvement would be the addition of some light background music — the café can sometimes feel a little flat or quiet, which slightly detracts from the ambiance. In summary, this is a decent local café for a hearty, no-fuss meal at a fair price. Just don’t expect gourmet quality or consistent service every time. Great if you’re after comfort food and a friendly (if occasionally variable) experience.

Proper English fry-up. I had a great breakfast here the other day, full English breakfast with a cuppa tea for £10. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. I will certainly be back.

Service was quick and easy, the coffee was lovely and the breakfast was great. The bacon, sausages and black pudding were all very good quality. I forgot to take a picture before I ate the breakfast but the image speaks for itself!

What makes the place cosy is atmosphere & happy, welcoming staff. It is a place that can feel like home the first time you visit because the staff here are amazingly friendly. The best cup of coffee I have had ever. The cakes are amazing and very generous portions. Lunch menu had some lovely and some different & healthy choices such as bagel with halloumi. All meal served with salad. Big portions n very reasonable prices which never burden on ur pocket. Very busy at peak times but well worth being patient for table. Must recommend this place.

Absolutely outstanding service. The best bacon brie baguette in whole Kent served. Nice little garden to the back. Freshly made food, healthy smoothies, highly recommended. I'm in love with the place

Went there last week and not recommended at all. The food was horribly greasy, service was the worst I've ever seen in my life.
