Park
Parc Natural del Delta de l'Ebre is a vast wetland nature reserve in Catalonia, known for its diverse birdlife and stunning landscapes. The park encompasses rivers, dunes, and beaches, offering visitors a chance to reconnect with nature. It's a popular destination for bird watching and photography, with numerous hides providing opportunities to observe flamingos and glossy ibis. The area's rich agricultural heritage adds to its charm, making it an ideal escape from the modern world.
What an amazing place to ride a bike. The rice paddies were so full of birds. It was magical.
TA L — Google review
It is a truly beautiful place. Full of birds, with unforgettable and unique landscape. Sense of calm and openness. Definitely worth visiting. All you need is a car or a bike, some time. Ride between birdwatching platforms, stop for a while, look around, listen. Totally worth it.
Paweł M — Google review
Great Natural Park This was a great place to visit and very memorable for the kids. It is a truly beautiful place, full of birds, and a beautiful landscape. The only drawback was that there where lots and lots of flying insects even on the beach. I guess it was summer so that is the main reason. It is definitely worth visiting and is highly recommend by us!
Paul V — Google review
Back to nature. Rice Paddie fields. Flamingos and other birds that you only see in a Zoo. Great sunsets and empty sandy beaches. All for free.
Rob W — Google review
Endless beaches with incredible landscapes for backdrop. Perfect for outdoor sports or relaxing and perhaps best experienced in a van. Sense of freedom and disconnection from a bygone era. Some of the best traditional rice dishes in Spain.
Jon H — Google review
The boat tour on the river is just amazing. It is approximately 5 km in each direction. The rice fields, the flying birds, the empty and wild sandy beaches could be seen in the park. And the markers of the highest point of the area is on the left beach.
Plamen K — Google review
We visited mainly for bird watching but also to appreciate the beauty of the landscape. It's a large area and we only had 3 hours, but we manage to see a lot. You do need a car or a bike really. There are 3 lakes close together on the south coast with several hides, so we headed there, and visited about 4 hides, that was enough for us. Observatori de la Tancada was best for Flamingos (1000+), and Reserva Natural Riet Vell for Glossy Ibis (100+). The highest concentration of other birds, including harriers, seemed to be in the rice fields and agricultural land, where you can usually just pull in at the side of the road. Also enjoyed the enormous beach at the end of the lake road, Platja del trabucador. Plenty of maps around the reserve and bird id charts, we printed ours off the website before arrival so we could plan our day. Didn't find any toilets so guess you will have to buy a drink in a local bar or cafe if you want one.
Janey C — Google review
This is a great place to visit, with a variety of activities including Boat Rides, lots of walking trails, wild beach and beauty spots. This are is the rice growing region so lots of great Paella can be found. Anti mosquito repellant is essential dont go without it!

Original and authentic. Professional and friendly staff, I highly recommend this place if you want to eat like local delicious Spanish food.
Cintia K — Google review
A wonderful local place in a beautiful area known for its rice dishes. Today we had the Chapadillos, that is, a tapa of smoked eel on bread with tomato. Also the Ortiguillas de Mar, a sort of delicious fried algae. Main course Rice with artichoke, squid and squilla mantis, a sort of mantis shrimp which is fantastic to add a strong seafood flavor to the rice. All dishes accompanied by a Llagrimas de la Terra white wine. Service was good although kitchen was a little slow due to the affluence of clients.
Carlos L — Google review
We tried the Lobster rice and it was great! The starters were just ok though (razor clams and Eel) The price is fair. I would totally recommend it for the rice.
Adrian C — Google review
It use to be better, but it is still one of the best places in the area. The classical paella it is just good, but "l'arros de la barraca" is espectacular!

If you're looking for an unforgettable adventure, Riu a l'Ebre is the perfect destination! Start your day early to witness breathtaking sunrises over the Delta de l'Ebre. The organized bicycle tours take you through picturesque rice paddies along shaded paths, making it a delightful ride even in warm weather. For those seeking a bit more excitement, kayaking down the river offers a unique challenge as you navigate against gentle currents and winds while spotting fascinating wildlife both above and below water.
Great fun day out. Very well organised and an extremely competent team. Bicycle tours through the rice paddies along dedicated cycle paths many of which are well shaded from the hot sun. The kayaking down the river to the sea was harder than expected as their is virtually no current and with a facing wind can be quite a challenge. The wildlife in the water and in the air were definitely highlights of the trip. At the end a welcoming bar with drinks and tapas awaits you! All of the equipment supplied is recent and in good condition. The staff very helpful and continued support through WhatsApp so if you do have questions on your trip they really are never far away. We had a booking confusion that was sorted out very professionally. Thanks for a great day out!

Nestled in the heart of the stunning Parc Natural del Delta de l'Ebre, Lo Mut is a charming hotel restaurant that offers an unforgettable dining experience amidst breathtaking agricultural landscapes. This UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is home to chef Sergi Gadanuer's culinary creations, featuring local specialties like lobster rice and duck canelones. The menu showcases a delightful array of regional dishes, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts.
After biking through the rice fields of the Ebre River Delta, we wanted to have paella. As we were being up there by our biking company, we chose lo MUT, and very much enjoyed our meal as well as the excellent service.

We had an awesome dinner on March 16,2024. The waiter was by himself but rocked the restaurant und front desk. Food was exceptional! Very good quality and the 3 paellas were sooo yummy. Thank you to the waiter, he was awesome and want to let the owner know that he was working like it’s his own business.
Sabine S — Google review
The service was spectacular and the dishes were outstanding. We first ordered a salad which was filled with bursting flavors, we were left wanting for more. For my main course I ordered the most well seasoned octopus i ever had, it was delicious a 5/5. However, when it came to the dessert we weren’t that much impressed. We ordered a Tiramisu, which was decent apart from the fact that the balance between the cream cheese filing wasn’t that proportional to that of the “coffee flavored lady fingers” . It was a thin layer of the coffee flavored biscuits and a very thick portion of the cream cheese filling which in all honesty tasted like whipped cream. Other than that everything else was good, i would highly recommend it. We will surely be back one day.
Bria A — Google review
The service and the rice were very good, but anything else was terrible. The first dishes were drawing in the oil and submerged by salt, not a place for who has high blood pressure. Many of the dishes were too pretentious and the result was terrible. And everything for the most expensive menu they offer (50 euros per perso)
Antonio S — Google review
We were in the area on holiday and decided to stop by for dinner. It was a excellent choice! The shrimp carpaccio was delicious and so was the fish and octopus main course. We had 3 year old with us and they made sure he was served quickly and with items outside of the menu as it was past his bedtime. This was all top of with excellent service. We will be back!
Charles S — Google review
Excellent food, by far the best in the area. I highly recommend!

Far del Fangar is a striking red and white lighthouse situated on a secluded strip of land, accessible only by foot or bike. The journey begins at the Platja de la Marquesas parking lot, offering stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea on one side and picturesque green or brown rice fields on the other. Despite the challenging walk, the sounds of waves and birds create a tranquil atmosphere that melts away stress. Upon arrival, visitors will find themselves surrounded by sandy beaches resembling a desert landscape.
We walked for about 2 hours to get to the lighthouse. All g the seashore. That was a wonderful walk however avoid hours between. 12 to 15. You'll burn your feet.

Very nice walk from La Marquesa beach parking lot. It is about 4km following the beachside to get to the lighthouse. When you get there, don't expect to find a shop a visitor site or a wc. Just sandy beaches that resemble the desert. Ah, and don't miss the way back using an "inland" trail next to the bird nesting reserve. It's.about 1 km longer way back but it is worth the sight!

Great area to enjoy tranquility and mesmerising views of sandy dunes and the sea. The lighthouse reminds you of those ones in the movies, in the middle of nowhere. Quite a pretty and enjoyable bare-feet walk by the sea.

Dirtiest beach I ever seen in Spain. Lighthouse is beautiful/simple. Long walk 3-4km one way.
Vera B — Google review
Spend as much time as necessary to find that person, place or thing that will guide you in the moments when you are most lost. When you find your lighthouse, it will show you the way to your destiny. As it happened to me one afternoon at the Fangar beach, at the Ebro Delta. The wind was blowing so hard that we could hardly take two steps in a row without losing balance. Moreover, it seemed as if all the sand on the beach wanted to end up on our faces. It was hard to see where we were going and we were about to give up. But then it appeared. At first it was just a silhouette, but as we moved forward, the Fangar lighthouse guided us to a sunset like we had never seen before.

Concepts for ecotourism are there but the exhibits, particularly in the aquarium were disappointing with some fish in seemingly poor health and small tanks, one large bass completely alone in a small tank for example. Otherwise, there's is good information about the surrounding area and the history

Long queue for people wanting to talk to tourist information when we just wanted to pay 2 euros to look around the museum. It shut for lunch which meant we only had 30 mins but I don't think it needs much more than this (staff were surprised we would want to do it that quickly). Few interesting exhibits and mini aquarium.

Very good value for money. We stayed at Primavera room, which had a high ceilings and lovely view towards the river. Good bed and shower. Cotton linen. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful, 100% local produce. Located minutes from the river promenade and convenient for various cycling routes. The owner herself was helpful and inspiring. Thank you for having us, we would come back.

Llucia was the hostess with mistress. Clean en-suite rooms, great location ( we were a group kayaking in The Ebro) great (free😮) wine and beer on tap. Lovely Mediterranean courtyard. Gorgeous breakfast; fresh watermelon, orange juice, tomatoes, jam, Comte cheese cheese, Spicy ham, bread, cake, coffee. I have no reservations recommending this accommodation.

Check in procedures are not clear. I booked through a 3rd party vendor but they tried messaging me outside of that vendor which is against policy. They then accused me of not being honest about the # of people I booked for but my receipt clearly showed “2” adults not “1” that they claimed. Room was okay, but small and was heavily infested with ants. It’s not very close to most of the restaurants and the street noise and dogs are loud. I wouldn’t stay here again.

(Translated by Google) Buddha Island The black and white photographs of rice paddies and houses are from AFCEC Year 1936. The island of Buda is a river-sea island located at the eastern end of the Ebro delta, belonging to the municipality of Sant Jaume d'Enveja, in Montsià. Much of Buda Island, together with the Migjorn River, form the wetland called Buda Island and Migjorn River. The island of Buda covers around 1,100 hectares, of which around 250 are rice paddies and the rest (more than 800 ha) correspond to a wide range of natural environments: reedbeds, reedbeds, salicornaria and the so-called coastal lagoons or drawers. This diversity of environments, both quite extensive and well preserved, allows Buda to be one of the areas of greatest natural interest in the delta as a whole, and to host very large populations of waterfowl, both nesting and wintering. The formation of Buddha dates from the 18th century and reached its maximum extent in the late 19th and early 20th. Since then, it has suffered a considerable regression, especially in the area of Cape Tortosa. Fauna and flora Regarding the lagoon (habitat of priority community interest, code 1,150) and with regard to the submerged vegetation, Potamogeton pectinatus stands out in Calaix Gran, while Ruppia cirrhosa predominates in Calaix de Mar. The helophytic vegetation consists of reedbeds, bogar, junckers of Scirpus maritimus, Scirpus littoralis and Juncus maritimus (habitats of community interest, code 1.410). There are also tamarius groves (habitat of community interest, code 92D0), among which stands out Tamarix boveana, a species strictly protected in the delta by decree 328/1992; and several halophilic communities: subshrubby salicorna, herbaceous salicorna and limonium communities (habitats of community interest, codes 1.420, 1.310 and 1.510) as well as sandy or silty coastal plains, often covered with microbial mantles (habitat of community interest, code 1.140 ). One of the most remarkable species is the sosa flower (Zygophillum album), an African plant extremely rare in Europe. In addition, in 1998 a new species of limonium was described: Limonium vigoi, which is only known in the Ebro delta and in a small spot on the coast of Ametlla de Mar. restoration In 1996, the Buda Island restoration and integrated management project was selected by the European Commission as one of the projects to be co-financed under the Life-nature Instrument. This project has made it possible to make a series of improvements in the natural ecosystems and the landscape. The most noteworthy actions are: Remodeling the drainage system of the rice paddies to prevent water loaded with nutrients and pollutants from spilling into the drawers. Opening of communication channels between the shiners and between them and the drawers in order to reduce the high degree of anoxia prevailing. Protection of the riverbanks of the Ebro, with bioengineering techniques and riparian forest planting. Burial of an electric line that crossed a large part of the island, which allows for a landscape improvement and avoids electrocution of birds. Abandonment of the Mas de Quartera rice paddies and conversion of these lands into brackish fields. Abandonment of more than 30 hectares of rice paddies and conversion into pasture area and green sewage treatment plant. Removal of exotic flora and gardening trees and replacement by indigenous riverside trees. Together, these measures have allowed the establishment and nesting in Buda of species such as the royal capon (Plegadis falcinellus) or the white egret (Egretta alba), which were never known to have nested anywhere in Catalonia. Other species that have also nested in Buda are the sea partridge (Glareola pratincola) and the weaver (Remiz pendulinus), which settled in the incipient riparian forest. Recently, the natural park has started a project to reintroduce the pond turtle (Emys orbicularis), from specimens born in captivity in the same park's wildlife center.

(Translated by Google) 👍🍺👋☕️🌲🤠😎 It is the highest point of the Delta. It is a dune 4 meters high located on the left bank of the river. Here, the Camí de Sant Jaume de l'Ebre also begins. The panorama allows us to see the islands of Buda and Sant Antoni. The monument, today very abandoned, of four granite columns crowned by four mother gods linked with the course of the Ebro river: that of Montesclaros (Fontibre); that of Pilar (Zaragoza); that of Valvanera (Rioja) and that of Cinta (Tortosa), two of which have completely disappeared, presides over the place. It is, therefore, the right place to read a prose by Ramon Gomis that describes a solitary navigation through these calm waters of the Delta, and a poem by Albert Roig (Tortosa, 1959) evoking these places, dated around Houmt-Souk, Djerba/Buda Island, Midday, 1990.

Platja del Fangar is a unique and extensive beach located in the Ebre Delta. It is characterized by its semi-desert and pristine appearance, with the northern area closed off by the Ebre Delta and the Fangar peninsula curving to create an interior sea known as the Port of Fangar. Visitors recommend visiting during sunset for a peaceful walk to the lighthouse, which takes about an hour each way. The beach offers comfortable walking on hard sand, but parking can be limited.
One of my "discoveries" plus 🔝 during the first part of the year has been the Ebro Delta. Actually I had visited it as a child but since then I had not returned. And the truth is that I loved it 🥰. It was a weekend full of incredible moments, among which I highlight a 3-hour walk 🚶along the Fangar Beach until the lighthouse of the same name enjoying one of the most beautiful sunsets I can remember. Every time I see photos like this, I want to go back. And to you? 🙋‍♂️
