Went to the Santa Tecla "Dance with the Devil" Night and it was incredible, crazy, mad and completely devoid of Heath and Safety, long may it continue!!!!

Amusement park
Theme park
PortAventura Park is a world-building theme park divided into five areas representing different continents, each with buildings and rides reflecting the culture of the country. The park features traditional entertainment facilities, roller coasters, rapids, 4D cinemas, and more. With over 1 million square meters of stunning landscape and 30,000 plant species, it offers a captivating experience.
Fantastic day out. Not been here since 2013, so 12 years on from then. We will be doing Ferrari Land another day before we leave the town. Since working out and becoming a bit wider in certain areas, I don’t fit on some of the rides. Due to the narrow bucket seats. Not a problem, but could do with a tester seat at some of the longer wait rides, so that the ride doesn’t get held up by not fitting in. Overall, very clean and enjoyable day.
Laura G — Google review
Nice theme park very spacious and organised. Very long queues and sometimes the rides get out off order due technical problems ( happened with us in several of them ) Food are overpriced for the quality and quantity and they charge a fee for the cup all the time . The shows are good decoration amazing area clean and organised. Worth a visit but you need to have patience for queues in every were
Happydays — Google review
Great experience for both adults and kids (8/10 y). We arrived on Saturday and stayed until Tuesday. A little bit crowded for top attractions but in 2 day we can touch them all. We had also checked at their hotel and I would strongly recommend, as you have 30min in advance exclusivity to the park in the morning before opening hours
Eu C — Google review
We, family of 4 (with an 8 and a 3 yo) were nicely surprised by this amusement park. We went in November during All Saints holidays and there was hardly any waiting time at the rides. Staff was really well made up for Halloween event, and the park was really nicely decorated. The only minor thing to improve would be to put a sign on the parking lot to remind people that it is forbidden to bring food and drinks to the park. An amazing experience to repeat longer next time!
Marie C — Google review
Amazing and very large park. If you want to ride all the thrill rides then you have to buy the express pass. Otherwise you have to stay in lines for hours and you will be absolutely disappointed and same goes for ferrari land. Puy the express pass before visiting because they will sell out fast even on weekdays.
Sigrit S — Google review
We visited this park during half term after a recommendation from friends. We stayed on site at Hotel Gold River (see separate review). Over all we enjoyed this park as a stop gap from our summer visits to florida. Pros Great themeing in the park. The park is well laid out and themed throughout. It is easy to find your way around. There are numerous food and drinks stalls and the prices are reasonable when compared to a UK theme park. Our favorite ride was Shambhala with the shortest queues being in the morning at opening and then at night. The water rides rarely had queues over 30 minutes. We visited over Halloween and the scare zone was a nice addition. For the evening parade / show we paid €9 each for priority seating which included a drink, this was definitely worth it. Cons Smoking in the park. As frequent visitors to florida parks and UK theme parks we found this really unpleasant. Smoking seems to be accepted in most areas of the park, including queues and eating areas. It made for an overall unpleasant smell. With the exception of Shambhala the rollercoaster type rides are rough. Furious Baco, Dragon Khan, Tomahawk, El Diablo. All almost gave us concussion....one ride each per day was enough. As our 1st visit to a theme park in Europe we enjoyed it, but made us want to rebook Florida!
Jo F — Google review
We have been to this theme park several times before. It is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year (2025), and it is still good value for money. Some restaurants were closed, but there was enough to cater for the number of visitors. All the staff were friendly and the longest ride queue was 40 minutes. The light show at the end was amazing.
Mark H — Google review
The best theme park in Europe, my favorite place on Earth! However, it has a few problems that must be considered before booking tickets/stays: - Waiting times are long, you should definitely plan on spending more than one day, or buy an Express Pass. - Food and drinks are extremely expensive. If you stay at one of the hotels, consider bringing your water and also some snacks. Now for the positives: - Best rollercoasters in Europe, and some special and brutal rides as well - Beautiful themed decorations and shows - The hotels are amazing, and a very good deal (considering the quality of the rooms and the fact that they include tickets to the park) Wish I could give it 10 stars, but it's not perfect (for now). I hope you enjoy it, and don't forget the sunscreen!

Architectural Buildings
The Central Market of Tarragona, also known as Mercat Central de Tarragona, is a lively indoor market hall that features a variety of vendors including butchers, bakers, and artisanal food stalls. The market is located in the medieval Carmen neighborhood, surrounded by historical landmarks such as the Cathedral and its famous bell tower.
This place is in an old historical market hall but inside is fully modernised, believe it or not there is a fully blown supermarket below the old builing. And there is a beautiful town square. Search out the sites from the city wall
Stephen H — Google review
A Must‑Visit Spot in Tarragona’s Heart – Central Market I spent around 20 minutes exploring the Central Market in Tarragona and would definitely recommend a quick visit! This beautiful Modernist building (from 1915, renovated in 2017) stands proudly just off Rambla Nova—its three spacious naves, iron columns, ceramic roof and arched facades make it architecturally striking and inviting. Inside, the market buzzes with life: around 40 stalls offer fresh local seafood, fish, meats, bakery products, sweets, wines and more—many from generational vendors representing true Catalan flavour. All around the building you’ll find plenty of bars and cafés, perfect for a random coffee and something sweet after strolling through stalls. There’s even a carillon clock show daily at 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm (and 8:00 pm in summer).
Aneta J — Google review
This place is a real market unlike Barcelona and Madrid this is an authentic Mercat! The fresh meats and fish are amazing. The Placa de Corsini is not to be missed when in Tarragona.
Brian G — Google review
Lovely indoor market with a bustling atmosphere. Lots of great culinary experiences.
Sean R — Google review
Great market to sample local produce. Abundance of fresh seafood, meat, cheese etc. I wish I lived here. There is a cafe in the middle where you can buy prepared food and sit at the table nearby to eat. We did, and it was good! Interesting place to sit down and watch how locals go about their lives.
Elllen K — Google review
Love the market. The seafood is fresh. We got some prawns and clams at reasonable price. The locals shop their food here too. So much better than the market in Barcelona which is totally ripped off.
Jessie S — Google review
Tanagona market was a hive of activity, plenty to see and buy, locals buy fresh foods from here 😋, enjoyed my walk round.
Andie — Google review
Great market to buy fresh fish, meat, cheese, and other delicacies. There are some places where you can get small fried foods like empanadas. You can also get prepared foods and drinks at a few of the bars offering service. Sadly, we came during a time where they didn't have paella like we had hoped, but there was more than enough other options. There was also a market outside selling textiles, clothes, etc.

Cathedral

Churches & Cathedrals
The Catedral de Tarragona, also known as Santa Maria del Miracle, is a stunning architectural marvel that combines Romanesque and Gothic styles. Built between the 12th and 14th centuries on the grounds of a former Roman temple and mosque, this cathedral showcases the transition from the serene Romanesque apse to the dynamic Gothic architecture.
A deeply spiritual and moving experience Visiting the Cathedral of Tarragona was more than just sightseeing, it was a moment of deep connection with the sacred. The beauty of the Romanesque and Gothic architecture lifts the soul, and every corner of the cathedral seems to whisper centuries of prayer and devotion. The peaceful cloister invites quiet reflection, and the view is a breathtaking reminder of God’s greatness. It’s a place where faith and history meet — and the modest entrance fee is a small offering for such a grace-filled experience. Truly a blessing to be there.
Rogier T — Google review
At first we thought €12 per person was a bit steep for a cathedral, but wow it was super worth it! My husband and I spent over 1 hour admiring the beauty of the cathedral and all its rooms and artwork. The leaflet given with the entry ticket was very helpful and ensured that we got to see everything! Too bad the wifi wasn’t fast enough to listen to the online audio guide. But all in all, definitely a MUST-SEE- it was my favourite location to see in Tarragona.
Leena A — Google review
I recently visited the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Tarragona and it truly took my breath away. The architecture is absolutely stunning — a perfect blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles that showcases centuries of history. Walking through the cathedral feels like stepping back in time. One of the highlights is the peaceful atmosphere inside, which contrasts beautifully with the lively square outside. There’s a charming restaurant just next to the cathedral, and thanks to its prime location, dining there with the view of the cathedral is an unforgettable experience. A fun historical fact: the cathedral was built on the site of a former Roman temple dedicated to Emperor Augustus. This deep historical layering makes the visit even more meaningful. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tarragona!
Aneta J — Google review
Beautiful place to visit even if you're not religious. Has roman and medieval areas, museum and a beautiful quadrangle and garden to relax and enjoy the atmosphere as well as numerous altars for saints. Shop at exiting has some nice momentoes. Nice little restaurants and bars outside selling traditional food and drink
Jane — Google review
A wonderful Cathedral with a lot to see. Many chapels and great works of art. Importantly it still feels like a working church and has areas to meditate and pray.
Jim M — Google review
Impressive building and its history. Vast areas usually closed are open to public in this church. Not only religious place, but also very interesting from architectural and historical view.
Jiri S — Google review
This Cathedral and attached cloister were some of the most impressive that we have visited. The Rose Window and stained glass were especially awe inspiring. Bathrooms were available as you exit through the gift shop.
Ryan S — Google review
The Cathedral is absolutely extraordinary, the state of repair and its treasures make it one of the most impressive in Europe. The sculptures and retables at the sacristy are incredible works of art dating from 13-14the centuries, it's very rare to see such works in their original places and in great condition. The chapels close to the entrance, in a Baroque style are also exquisite. There are also a cloister, a museum with excellent paintings and alabaster statues, and the archeological area to show the ancient Roman origins. A unique and extraordinary place, not to miss visiting in one's lifetime!

The National Archaeological Museum of Tarragona is a treasure trove of artifacts from the Roman ruins in Tarragona. It boasts an impressive collection of mosaics, sculptures, and other finds that showcase the cultural and material wealth of Roman Tarraco.
This small site was inexpensive but full of some fantastic exhibits, to include an audio guide app and English descriptions, too.
Ryan S — Google review
Many exhibits, good place to learn about the Roman roots of Tarragona! Prior reservations is not required, you can walk in and buy tickets
Vince D — Google review
While the main building of the National Archaeological Museum of Tarragona is undergoing long-term renovation, the temporary exhibition at Tinglado 4 in the port offers a well-curated insight into Roman Tarraco. Among the most impressive pieces is a marble relief in the shape of a gladiator’s shield, originally from the Roman villa of Els Munts. Another standout object is an ornate Roman balance scale, which reflects the everyday economy and attention to detail in trade and measurement. The exhibition also includes mosaics, portraits, domestic objects, jewelry and religious iconography each piece selected to show the scope of life in Tarraco, one of the most important Roman cities in Hispania. The space itself is modern, bright and easy to navigate. Despite being only a temporary venue, the experience feels complete and rewarding. Entry is affordable, and with the MNAT combined ticket you can also visit Els Munts and Centcelles, two Roman villa sites nearby. This exhibition is absolutely worth a stop for anyone interested in Roman history, archaeology or classical art, especially if you’re following the ancient traces of Tarraco across the region.

The National Archaeological Museum of Tarragona was a very interesting visit. We got to see many statues and artifacts, which gave us a good impression of the city’s rich history. Overall everything was very well organized. The tickets were reasonably priced, and for what we saw, it felt more than worth it. The Passeig Arqueològic in Tarragona is a mesmerizing archaeological promenade that invites visitors to stroll along the remnants of the city's ancient Roman walls. This scenic walkway, part of a UNESCO World Heritage site, offers an immersive experience into Tarraco's rich history, showcasing well-preserved fortifications and impressive towers.
This is another site out of 4 in the same ticket of Roman ruins of Tarragona. Nice views over the city. You can leave the site through the gate at the end, or return and trace the wall on the other site. It's really interesting how the wall was built, and see how it was changing over the time. Definitely worth a visit.

A cool shady walk along the foot of the Roman city walls which are very impressive. There are numerous information points which add to the visitors understanding of the construction and phases of construction. All of the numerous sites in Tarragona seem to be equally well preserved and explained. Entry to all of these is very modest at 5 euro for an adult and there are usually toilets too!

Amazing experience. I caught bus 5 out to the stop in front of the aquaduct. Make sure you do not miss it if in Tarragona or in the area. This is one of the only aqueducts that is completely in tact and you are able to walk on it. Spectacular experience. Go there and see.

WARNING FOR ALL TOURISTS: do not leave your car here with any belongings, we got robbed here and police told us that there are common car robberies in this area aimed at tourists. We were gone from the car for a couple of minutes and when we returned, the back window was broken and everything from the car gone. Please be careful🙏
Lucia H — Google review
We arrived and a person came to us to tell us that their window just got smashed. We were apart from them the only ones on the parking lot. A sign also said that they Dont have video surveillance, and that robberies are common. WHY NOT PUT A CAMERA THERE THEN? because we had a rental car we could not risk having our windows smashed. We had to go back. We wish we could have seen this historical place. TO THE MUNICIPALITY/POLICE: PUT SOME CAMERAS UP!

Impressive, it resembles, albeit with natural differences, the Pont du Gard in France. A must-see for history buffs. The Ferreres Aqueduct, also known as Pont de les Ferreres and Pont del Diable, is an ancient Roman aqueduct located just 4 kilometers north of Tarragona. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was built in the 1st century to supply water to the city of Tarraco. Today, it is a popular spot for scenic walks and picnics, offering a breath of fresh air away from the crowds.
A hidden Roman jewel very close to the centre of Tarragona. The conservation is exceptional. The whole arcade is a monumental ensemble that deserves to be visited. You can walk through the upper part from side to side. If you like Roman culture, it is a must to visit.

Great place for a walk and really historic. Sadly the car park was full of broken glass because they have people waiting for you to leave and then they break into your vehicle. Please be careful if you park here! We were lucky but so many others weren't

Superb Roman Aqueduct This is one of the bet preserved aqueduc I have been too. It is great and looks fantastic. You really wonder how on earth did they build this 2000 years ago? I personally am a bit of a history buff and really enjoy this kind of places. It takes a bit of walking from the parking but is seriously worth it. Highly recommended.

The Ferrets Aqueduct is a truly impressive and underrated place to visit near Barcelona. You can easily get there by city bus (just remember to catch the return bus from the same stop where you got off). There's a large parking area available if you're coming by car. There are no public restrooms or shops on site, so it's a good idea to bring your own water and snacks. The area is spacious, with lots of nature, perfect for walking or cycling. You can easily spend anywhere from an hour to the whole day here enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The aqueduct itself is really striking and well worth seeing. It's a free attraction and a great option if you're looking to escape the city for a bit. Highly recommended!

About 400 meters walk from parking place in a park, offering some shade by the trees. Very nice and scenic view to the ancient aqueduct. There are no services here so prepare yourself with a bottle of water. Free admission.

Visited this aquaduct on a visit to Tarragona. It dates from reign of Augustus, 2000 yrs ago. It's in great condition considering it's age. The stonemasonry is excellent, I walked across the top, the local government has put a safety wall on but sides. The Romans were outstanding in civil engineering and hydraulic systems. There was more than likely a huge underground tank in the city centre.

Amphitheater
The Amfiteatre de Tarragona is a historic Roman amphitheater located on the coast, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Dating back to the late 1st century or early 2nd century BC, it was once a center for gruesome gladiator fights and public spectacles, as well as animal hunts. With a seating capacity of around 14,000 people, it was a prominent venue for entertainment and important events during its prime.
A beautiful journey through histwas truly unforgettable. The atmosphere is peaceful yet powerful — walking through this ancient Roman amphitheatre overlooking the Mediterranean Sea feels like stepping back in time. The site is well preserved, and the information signs helped us understand the incredible history behind it. It’s amazing to think about the events that took place here so many centuries ago. Great spot for photos, reflection, and just enjoying the moment together. Highly recommended for families, history lovers, or anyone visiting Tarragona.
Hamid A — Google review
Beautifully preserved! Great care was taken and it shows. Given the location, it is difficult to access for anyone with mobility issues so do prepare for that, but views from street level above are actually the most magnificent in my opinion. We assumed it would take 30-45 minutes to tour, but it can easily be seen in 10-15 minutes.
Allie R — Google review
The Roman Amphitheatre in Tarragona is absolutely worth a visit. It left a lasting impression on me — equally as awe-inspiring as the famous arena in Verona. Set against the backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea, it’s both a historical treasure and a visual masterpiece. Standing there, you truly feel the presence of ancient history. One interesting mathematical fact: the amphitheatre is built in an elliptical shape, which was not just aesthetic — it ensured excellent acoustics and allowed every spectator a clear view of the arena. Even by today’s standards, the engineering is remarkable. Historically, this site was used for gladiator combats and public executions during the Roman Empire. Most notably, it’s where Saint Fructuosus, a Christian bishop, was martyred in the 3rd century AD — giving the site deep spiritual and historical meaning. 👉 Visitor info (2025): The amphitheatre is open most days and is part of the “Tarragona Roman Heritage” ticket that also includes other ruins in the city. Admission is very affordable (a few euros), and entry is free on the first Sunday of each month. There are clear information panels in multiple languages, and the site is well-maintained with accessible walkways. Don’t miss the viewpoint above the amphitheatre — perfect for photos! Guided tours are available in high season, or you can use an audio guide app. Highly recommended for history lovers, architecture fans, and anyone who wants to feel the ancient spirit of Tarraco, the Roman name of Tarragona.
Aneta J — Google review
Historic place where you can see Roman ruins and later culture christian legacy build on the top of it. Impressive landscape with the sea as a background. No need to pay in order to see such wonder as it is open air and the places is very accesible.
Nelson G — Google review
Fantastic site, well worth the 5€ entry fee. Loved the glimpse of a historic amphitheatre. Audio guide gives the site information in an easy to understand form. Scan the QR code at the pay booth, choose your language and open on your phone.
Stephen T — Google review
What a scam! When walking around, you can clearly see into the ruins, yet in order to enter, they charge a five euro price. I understand the ruins are cool, but they are not worth the price and should be free. Especially since they are not hiding anything and are clearly visible. The only thing you are paying for you is the little signs that explain to you what's in there. Which, you could probably look up on a google synopsis in five minutes for the price of nothing. Get your views in, but do not pay to enter! It is not worth the money! I hope one day they can make it free.
Steve J — Google review
We didn’t go inside the Roman Amphitheater of Tarragona, since you can see almost everything from above. Being with a stroller and a small child, we felt that was enough. We took some nice photos from the viewpoint, but of course, if someone wants a closer look, it may be worth visiting inside.

Lovely, clean, spacious park. Good selection of kids rides which my Son enjoyed, queues were short too so very little wait time for them. The star of the show is of course Red Force! I loved that there was a viewing area to sit and watch it whizz by. Worth a visit.

Amazing theme park one of a kind. Very spacious clean and organised. Get ready for long queues depends the days and times but worth the wait. Gates just open 16:30 and close late time enough to enjoy all the rides Me and my family enjoy a lot here... I would recommend a visit definitely
Happydays — Google review
I think most people will be visiting Ferrari Land purely for "The Red one", other than this ride we only went on 3 others as the park was only open 1700-2200. The Red one was great....the others not so much. But please near in mind we are seasoned Theme park visitors.....had we never had be on "soaring" we maybe would have appreciated "Flying dream" however with a 1hr 45 min wait we didn't. Racing legends seemed to be operating at Limited capacity and the "water jets" weren't working. We entered the park from Portaventura as hotel guests and queued for 30 mins, we then went straight to "The Red one" and queued for around 30 mins. The queues after that were over 2 hours. We ate at "Pit stop" the food was as expected for pizza, chips etc however the service was extremely slow. If you are willing to pay entry for 1 ride then its a good ride, generally the park isn't thay great, small and gift shops are crazy expensive.
Jo F — Google review
Amazing experience, would need a couple of days to do all rides as times were avg 1.5hrs. Museum had lots of interesting facts. Photo opportunities for all the family, in a road car and f1 car. If time isn’t on your side, pay for the fast track/express tickets and you can’t go wrong with those. If you like Ferrari heritage and fast rides, Red Force is the main attraction for that.

Absolutely adore this place. Bought the 3 day 3 park tickets. Bought fast passes for the 5 ride pack and it was so good. The Ferrari ride is amazing. I went on it twice and was gutted I had to leave. If you are a F1 Ferrari team fan you will love this place! To see a real racing car, experience of driving a simulation of F1 race or adrenalin rush in a Red Force rollercoster is a lifetime memory! Beautiful beach right in the city center of Tarragona. The beach had more stone sand compared to the other beaches out north. It is quite long but not that deep and can get quite crowded at the weekend. There is some parking at the north end, but did not look that trustful as a location in my eyes. The public facilities were unfortunately quite dirty but on the other side along the beach are several showers. The beach itself is nice for a city beach and a quick drive but I would recommend the beaches outside the city more.

Casa Museu Castellarnau is a museum housed in a restored aristocratic residence that dates back to the 15th century. It was home to influential families until the 19th century and has ties to Emperor Charles. The interior showcases furniture and decorative objects from the 1700s and 1800s, offering a glimpse into the lifestyle of that era.
The Castellarnau House was built at the start of the XV century. Up to the end of the XIX century, it was the residence of some of the most influential families in the city. Emperor Charles I lived here during his stay in Tarragona in 1542. Charles of Castellarnau bought it half-way through the XVIlL century and it stayed in the family until, in 1954. it became municipal property. The interior of the house has architect- structures from various periods. On the ground floor we can see a series of pointed arcs dated from the XIV and XV centuries. The patio and spiral staircase with columns and Gothic capitols are from the same period. The building was acquired by Charles of Castellarnau during the XVIII century and important changes to the façade and interior distribution were made. The noble floor has rooms with furniture from the XVIll and XIX centuries. The most emblematic area is the ballroom, with roof paintings depicting mythological themes done by Provencal painter Josep Bernat Flaugier at the end of the XVIII century. An old kitchen has been restored on the ground floor. There is also a permanent sample of the Molas i Agramunt collection, a heterogenic set of archaeological and ethnographic pieces that cover a wide chronological period; the Quintana inheritance, where we can see a model of the first aeroplane to fly over the city in 1913.

This was included in a package ticket we bought for 15€ per person. I dont think we would visit here if it was part of the package. It is beautiful to see the house set up and the chandeliers upstairs are phenomenal. The tile flooring is beautiful. Staff super friendly. Toilets downstairs in the basement smelt funny. The whole house had a musty smell but to be expected. I think an interactive tour would be better than us wandering around. Would be nice to learn the history of the house and the use of the house or earphones in different languages. Well preserved.

A good little stop to add onto your attractions list. It is roughly around €5 per person to enter. Although I was unsure if to enter as it just looked like pots to my left, I'm glad I went. You also get a little handy note book, in your language. It was nice to see the different room styles and how both interior and items have changed. The likes of the size of a double bed back then, to now. The celling artwork, to the furniture. It's a nice look around and a chance to get out of the sun. The only issue, is that the toilets weren't the best and smelled.
E G — Google review
It's a very strange museum. There's absolutely no story behind it. Inside you will find a couple of nice pieces of furniture, a couple of paintings and the shelves full of chemical bottles, but you won't find any hint at how this all works together: the objects are not attributed in any way, people on portraits and their authors remain unknown, there's no connection to the family which owned all that (who they were and why they decided to preserve the house also remains in darkness). This collection of objects costs 5 Euro. That's not much, but the visit itself is utterly senseless, so be warned.
Alexander C — Google review
Amazing and beautiful house/museum with well preserved furniture from past centuries. The staff is friendly and attentive, and will give you a lot of information about its history. It has a beautiful interior patio. A must-see in Tarragona!

Beautiful but not outstanding house. As often here almost no information in any foreign language. Not to miss: the courtyard and the little room with the cassette ceiling with plant motives.

The Roman quarry of El Mèdol, located about 6 km east of Tarragona, is a fascinating site to explore ancient Roman history and culture. The limestone quarry spans several hectares and features the Torre dels Escipions burial tower. Visitors can take a self-paced tour along well-marked paths with informative signage in multiple languages explaining how the Romans utilized the stones from the quarry to construct cities around Tarraco.
Amazing old roman quarry. Very tourist attractive with modern made routes with different languages information posts and terraces with benches for rest. Quarry is not small, spent there about an hour walking around and the bottom part of it. I was there early in the morning, just at sunrise absolutely alone all the time. Fantastic experience. Stunning monolith about 20 meters high and around couple of thousands years old provides authentic feelings.

OMG... This place is amazing. It makes you feel like in Jurassic Park...the only bad thing is the constant noise from the highway, but there is so much beauty around and you will ignore it. The place is free to visit, at least in the winter time. So clean, so well maintained.
Suzana R — Google review
A delightful place to visit. Free to wonder around, with plaques in various languages. Not sure how you get to the main entrance. We parked in a layby when Google maps wanted us to drive up a dirt track! But there was a footpath sign post and it was easy to reach. A bit rocky and gravelly underfoot.
Angela B — Google review
How to get here; from the service station you will see a sign for "El Medal". Follow gravel road for just over 1km to large parking area. Note as of 2023 the walkway within the quarry is closed
Lou F — Google review
Fantastic place to get to know about ancient Roman history, their tradition, culture. You can visit the site at your own pace. Entrance is free. The well-signed path will take up and down a few hills. Plenty of signage in four languages will explain everything there is to know about how Romans used stones from que quarry to build the cities around Tarraco. No guide available, food or water. So take your own and be ready for a sporty (at times pretty hot) trek 😊. Beware of the wasps. I got stung a few times by an angry swarm while on Lookout #2. Loved this spot!
Yuri P — Google review
Definitely MUST SEE! free entrance, free parking and so beautiful!

Nice to walk around with little information boards, which tell you about the differentiates of the quarry. Couldn't get into the "clot" as the gates were locked but this was advertised. Had to access via the services on the A7 aftervjunction 34. We did have to collect a toll token when we accessed at junction 34, but left at junction 35 and didn't get charged.

Interesting place despite the access to the bottom of the pit being closed. The information on the boards along the path is not great but it’s a pleasant walk around the Catalan countryside.

Hotel
H10 Imperial Tarraco is a modern hotel in Tarragona, offering minimalist rooms and a rooftop pool with stunning sea views. It's conveniently located near Salou railway station and the Roman amphitheater 'Tarragona Amphitheatre'. The hotel provides 24-hour front desk assistance, business facilities, and easy access to nearby attractions like Circ Roma Ruins and Mediterranean Balcony Observation Deck.
We had the pleasure of staying at H10 Imperial Tarraco recently and were thoroughly impressed by the overall experience. The location was ideal for our needs, offering both convenience and a pleasant atmosphere. The staff distinguished themselves through their unwavering courtesy and attentiveness, consistently going out of their way to ensure our comfort. The rooms were tastefully appointed, offering a good level of comfort and, in some cases, attractive views of the surrounding area. We especially appreciated the breakfast, which featured high-quality ingredients and was thoughtfully prepared. In sum, this is a charming property that delivers both warmth and professionalism. Our sincere thanks to the entire team for their exceptional hospitality.

Lovely hotel. Rooms were great - ours (110) was slightly larger than our friends and we got a sea view without paying for one. But the main thing is the staff! They are so helpful and friendly. Made the whole thing so easy. The rooftop pool is really gorgeous. Breakfast was pretty standard. Location was close to the beach and the old town.
Zoe H — Google review
We had the most wonderful romantic night at H10 to finish our trip! Perfect location overlooking the ruins and a lovely beach, just a few minutes’ walk from the train station and the old town. We made full use of the excellent facilities - 2 pools, rooftop bar, gym and a fabulous dinner at Alta Mare restaurant. We also loved our gorgeous room and balcony which had all the luxe touches. The staff were wonderful too - super friendly, helpful and efficient. A special shoutout to the reception team and to Muria in Alta Mare, who was outstanding.
Jen A — Google review
Comfortable hotel in an excellent location with perfect views. Breakfast was plentiful and good quality. Pools were clean with multiple loungers. Reception staff were friendly and very helpful. Service was let down by bar staff and waiting staff. We were a party of eight and would like to have met on the roof to bar each evening for a drink before going out but gave up after the second night as the two sometimes three staff completely ignored us. When trying to get a drink and lunch for two people to have by the pool downstairs the first time no staff could be found. Eventually we ordered but condiments requested arrived after lunch was finished. Three of our party tried again on another day and were told to go to the rooftop bar for orders where again service was extremely slow and they had to take the food/ drinks to the downstairs pool themselves. There were conferences/ weddings going on during our stay which seemed to take all the staff but I would expect a hotel of this calibre to staff accordingly so that hotel guests still receive a good quality of service. So, an excellent hotel let down by bar/ waiting staff.
Wendy H — Google review
Amazing staff, so serviceminded and professional. They made me feel like five stars too : ). Beautiful hotel, balcony overlooking the roman amphitheater and the sea. Great breakfast, comfortable bed, lovely decor, nice sauna, and actually very good value for money! Poolarea looked gorgeous, however we traveled out of season. Some small things gave room for improvment, such as slight smell of sewage in bathroom areas, sound proofing not so great and lack of kettle in room (coffe mashine though!).
Sara C — Google review
We stayed in the hotel in February 2024 with the purpose of seeing Tarragona and visit Monastery of Poblet. It worked out beautifully, the hotel was a great base, very comfortable and in an excellent location. Everything was super - the comforts of the room, the bed, the bathroom. We took a suite on the higher floor. The views were tremendous, on the sea, amphitheater, old city. It is in a walking distance to the Cathedral and the historic center and it is easy to drive from the hotel because it has its own parking. This parking was a bit tight but manageable. The breakfast was quite good too. If we come again to Tarragona, we'll stay only there. Highly recommend!
Anna S — Google review
Couldn't fault the hotel. Very clean and well presented hotel. Staff were great, very kind and helpful. We only had breakfast and snacks in the hotel, but both of these were to a very good standard. Location is perfect with easy access into the town. We really enjoyed our stay and will go back in the future.

We stayed from 8th-15th October. As H10 members and having stayed in other H10 hotels across Europe, this hotel, although very nice, clean and friendly just didn’t feel like the other hotels. There were a few things missing. Bath robes and slippers in the room being one. Although not essential it would have been nice to have them. I checked and they should have been supplied. We asked reception for pool towels as the cart where they were kept wasn’t at the poolside, to be told the downstairs pool is closed. He said the 12th October the pool closes. No notices to say this anywhere. He gave us towels to lay by the pool but not to swim. On the website it does say 15th October- March the pool closes which is strange as many guests still want to swim during this time. In saying that the whole area was very clean and well kept. Unfortunately there were 3 private events that meant certain areas of the hotel were out of bounds to other guests. For some reason the breakfasts although tasty, were never hot, always just tepid. All in all the hotel was very nice, in a fantastic location with great views, it just needs a couple of tweaks in my opinion to make it on a par with the other H10s we have stayed in.

Laura L — Google review
Els Castellers, a Catalan tradition of building human towers, is a breathtaking spectacle that exemplifies the beauty of human unity, strength, and coordination. Having witnessed this awe-inspiring display firsthand, I can confidently say that it is an experience like no other. Els Castellers is a cultural phenomenon that captivates both the hearts and minds of its audience, leaving an indelible mark on anyone fortunate enough to witness it. From the moment the castellers enter the arena, clad in vibrant traditional attire, a palpable sense of excitement fills the air. The energy and enthusiasm of the participants are contagious, spreading throughout the crowd and creating an atmosphere of anticipation. As the music begins to play, signaling the start of the performance, a harmonious rhythm takes hold, guiding the movements of the castellers and ensuring their synchronicity. The precision and coordination displayed by the castellers are truly remarkable. Every participant has a specific role, from the sturdy base known as the pinya, providing the foundation of the tower, to the nimble climbers who ascend to dizzying heights, their determination and courage shining through. It is an intricate dance of balance, trust, and unwavering support, where each individual's contribution is vital to the success of the tower. The most awe-inspiring moment arrives when the crowning moment is reached—the completion of the castell. As the final casteller climbs to the pinnacle, the audience holds their breath, anxiously hoping for a flawless finish. The moment of triumph, when the castell reaches its zenith and is celebrated with thunderous applause and cheers, is nothing short of magical. It represents the triumph of human cooperation, resilience, and teamwork—a testament to the power of unity. However, beyond the sheer physicality and spectacle of Els Castellers lies a profound cultural significance. It embodies the spirit of Catalonia, its history, and its people. Els Castellers transcends boundaries and unites communities, fostering a sense of identity and belonging. It is a powerful symbol of solidarity and cultural heritage, preserving and promoting the values of teamwork, trust, and mutual respect. The impact of Els Castellers extends beyond the immediate performance itself. It has the ability to inspire individuals to push beyond their limits, encouraging them to believe in the extraordinary potential that lies within each human being. The resilience and determination displayed by the castellers serve as a reminder that when we come together, we can achieve greatness. In conclusion, Els Castellers is an unparalleled display of human achievement, leaving spectators in awe of the incredible feats accomplished by these dedicated individuals. The experience is both visually stunning and emotionally profound, offering a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Catalan culture and the human capacity for unity and strength. If you have the opportunity to witness Els Castellers, seize it without hesitation—it is an experience that will leave an indelible mark on your soul.

The Early Christian cemetery of Tàrraco is a significant archaeological site in Tarragona, showcasing the city's early adoption of Christianity. The necropolis features inscriptions dating back to the early Christian era and is believed to have connections to Saint Paul's visit to Spain. Excavated almost a century ago during the construction of a nearby factory, this well-maintained site offers insight into the customs and beliefs of the powerful Roman Empire.
Very unique and important archeological site and museum, and very cheap to enter. I do wish there was more written information, and that there was English or even Spanish included on the displays in the visitor center, but if you pull up the audio guide there are also English materials available for many of the displays (in the visitor center, the displays are only in Catalan). The full price of entry is only €5 (and that includes admission to the Archeological Museum too!!) so it's a VERY good deal and worthwhile if you have any interest in premodern history. Also, the entrance to the museum is not located exactly where Google maps directs you to. If you are coming from southeast of the museum, you will pass the entrance on your way to the entrance where Google directs you.

This Platja Arrabassada beach is a semi-urban area with clean sand, soft water and calm seas. There are lifeguards, footbridges and disabled access making it accessible for all. It has facilities such as cafes, bars, restaurants, showers, toilets, lockers, umbrellas and sun loungers for hire. There's also a large car park and water sport rental nearby.
It is one of the best beaches in Tarragona. It is more lively and yet peaceful as it is a little further from the city center. The sunsets here are very beautiful to share with a loved one! A definite must-see for someone visiting tarragona.

A beautiful large beach, but a shallow shore, it takes a long time to go down to the depths. Perfect for kids! There is a restaurant and a supermarket nearby!

Probably the best beach in Tarragona!
Kaspars V — Google review
My favourite beach in the area. A lot more space than the next closest beach but also a lot quieter as walking to this beach is a little bit harder. There is public toilets which are very helpful and three separate bars. There is also a spar very close to allow you to stock up on snacks and drinks! The beach is also equipped with showers!
Samuel S — Google review
Nice beach with clear water. It is also very near ans simple to reach, Tarragona downtown is only some minutes away, even with walking. In summer seasons though, it can sometimes be full of people.
Henry — Google review
Water is clear and clean, and the entrance slope is soft, allowing for people who don't know how to swim to still enjoy the sea. You'll typically find families and older people here, not the most vibrant beach when it comes to bars and restaurants either.

Nestled just outside the bustling city of Tarragona, Savinosa Beach is a hidden gem that promises an escape into tranquility and natural beauty. This golden sandy beach is meticulously maintained, offering visitors clean facilities including showers and a charming kiosk. Accessible via bus during the summer months, it’s easy to reach for those looking to unwind by the sea. Savinosa Beach boasts stunning waters and soft sand that invite relaxation.
Enjoyable beach. Big, with plenty of space to chill. The bar in there is also good to eat some fries and have a drink. But most surprisingly, the sand is ultra soft, one of the best I've ever seen in my life.

Amazing beach, nudist's and clothed people co-exist peacefully. My wife wanted to be fully clothed, my self wanted be nude. Nobody batted an eye. If this is your first nudist beach I highly recommend.
Kutay K — Google review
I have visited many beaches in the EU and this is by far one of my favorites for a few reasons: 1) Savinosa is a Blue flag beach(look up what a Blue flag beach is). It's a rating given to beaches with certain water quality and facility standards. The sand is also cleaned daily. Something I noticed in other Spanish beaches are cigarette butts on the sand. I saw one on the sand here, but overall very clean and soft sand. No chair rental, but there is a cafe, restroom and showers. Bring your own umbrella. There is a free parking lot close by. NO dogs allowed. 2) very relaxed atmosphere. Kid friendly. I saw many children present. Note that this is a clothing optional beach, so nudity (topless and full nude) is present. But, clothed or not, nobody cares! This is one thing I love about European culture. The human body is the human body. Nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. We arrived in our birthday suit, leaving in it too :) If you are a prude, this beach is not for you (I guess no European beach would suit if topless women also bother you). 3) the waves break a bit further out, so there is a shallower area close to the shore that is ideal of kids or anyone just wanting to wade knee deep. Do note that the beach is in a cove with steep rocks on either end of the beach. Do not swim on either end as the current can be dangerous. Just use common sense. Someone had to be rescued while I was there. If you stay in the middle part of the beach, no issues. Water temp in early October was still tolerable. Enjoy! Will be back! Bookmarked as one of my favorites.

It is a very nice, small beach just outside the city, reachable with the bus lines 11, 12 and 13 (one way 1.50 Euro). It has wonderful water and soft, fine sand, a nice beach bar, toilets and showers. One half of the beach is for nudists. In the upper corner are the gays and some voyeurs as everywhere, the rest is local people just enjoying the beautiful small beach.
Joinlo B — Google review
Very clean, close to our hotel, lots of space, no dogs. Worth going back to.
BC — Google review
I was surprised the beach got such high ratings. There are buildings in the background and the train rattles through noisily every 20 minutes. you have to walk into the sea quite a while to be able to swim, it's shallow. the ground is very hard, bring a thick towel. the day I visited, a large section was cordoned off w yellow n red floaters bc it is dangerous to swim there. there are much better beaches further east, like Mora n Tamariu that dont have the urban feel
Margherita P — Google review
The beach is great, water is clear and crispy. You have to be ready to accept nude people in the one side of a beach. But the nature and sand is great, there is a free toilet there and showers.

Art museum
The Museo de Arte Moderno de Tarragona is a museum that showcases modern art, located in a collection of interconnected 18th-century houses. The museum offers an interactive experience for visitors, including hands-on carpet weaving and audiovisual guides. In addition to the fascinating artwork on display, the walls and ceilings of the building itself tell a story of history. This museum is particularly suitable for children to learn and is also accommodating to those with sensory impairments.
It is completely for free, but there are artworks definitely worth checking. There is a nice corner for kids, full of books and wall art with soft benches. Architecture of the museum is also interesting, especially the inner hall with artworks and stairs in natural light.
W. O — Google review
This museum is pretty nice and small. It has: - several pictures, - sculptures of local Spanish artists - modern art works. The entrance was free, one needs around 1 hour to see everything.
V. D — Google review
Small gallery with two levels. When we got there there was a group of small kids doing art projects in a space on the first floor. Upstairs was a whole different aesthetic, and there were some pretty racy parts of the exhibitions, so if you have delicate sensibilities this place may not be for you. It's free and if contemporary art is your thing I recommend it.
Patty E — Google review
Free entry. Interesting temporary exhibition about the 1980s postal art group S.I.E.P. Upstairs, some of the exhibits are definitely not child-appropriate and the signage is there, but could be clearer. The Mariaelena Roqué art is very striking and well worth a look.

Ever felt a painting pull you into its world? The Museo de Arte Moderno de Tarragona is a vibrant hideaway where Catalan art explodes with color and emotion. From bold sculptures to evocative canvases, every piece feels like a story waiting to be told. Did you know the museum houses works by local legend Josep Maria Jujol, Gaudí’s collaborator, whose quirky genius shines in every detail? Tucked in Tarragona’s charming old town, this gem is a must for anyone craving art with soul!

Arrived last night to have a little gamble and on arrival pulled up outside in my car I was approached straight away by a gentleman telling me it was valley parking and he would park my car for tips on my return. I thought this was the norm so I let him. He got in my car and had difficulty as it is an English car - right hand drive. As he went to park on the side of the casino he tried to squeeze past some cones and hit the kerb scrapping my alloys to which he really badly damaged!! I told him to get out of my car!!! I told him I will park it myself. He got out and all I got was a sorry? No mention of compassion!! My car is a bmw x4 and there wasn’t a mark on the alloys. So be very cautious when visiting this casino and obviously ruined the mood of the night

It's got nice design, easy pay-to-play interactions that are fast made, fast cash out, very patient and kind workers! As a first time in Casino this was 10/10 experience for me, would recommend. Even if you are not sure, just enter! It's free, then watch some other people play and maybe play for €5? All I won is 7 euros in total and am really glad I got to experience this Gambling with low bets and lots of fun!!!

Casa Canals is a historic manor with opulent 19th-century decor, offering tours of the house and its gardens. Situated between the Catedral de Tarragona and Casa Canals Museum, it provides proximity to significant cultural landmarks. The well-preserved rooms showcase the lifestyle of a wealthy family in the 18th century, constituting half of the original home. Visitors can explore an impressive collection of chairs and enjoy panoramic views from the roof.

It's beautiful inside, unfortunately it's only one floor of the house, it can all be seen 15mins, the garden could be so much nicer, the staff and guides were very helpful, but not worth the entry fee €5 The house is free to enter on the last Tuesday of the month, along with several other attractions in the city.
David W — Google review
Definitely not worth the 5 euros entrance fee. You see one or two rooms inside then most of it is still under renovation. Dont waste your time here!

Interesting 18th century house. A series of well preserved rooms of a wealthy family home of the time - the restored rooms are 50% of the original home. The well informed person who attended me up on the first floor of the house gave a short and interesting tour. - nice to see such a professional approach. Unfortunately I couldnt say the same for the surly atendant who was at the entrance downstairs. Not the best image for Tarragona tourism.
Paul B — Google review
Waste of 5 euro, not much to see inside, some furniture and decorations but there's no info at all And don't even consider the combo 15 euro/4 attractions (the Amfitheater also not worth entering), just buy Circ Roma + Pretori, and Pg. Arqueològic
Vũ X — Google review
This was a nice fancy house that belonged to the canals family; it was 4 euros to enter i think. They closed off a couple of rooms and the house itself was already quite small so there wasnt that much to see. The decor was nice but overall i was expecting a lot more “wow” factor. From previous Europe trips elsewhere such as in Scotland, the noble houses were signficantly more impressive, grandiose and luxurious than this one so i was a bit disappointed by this house.

(Translated by Google) I have long wanted to attend this concert. In Tarragona it takes place within the walls of the seminary. The hall is small. There is actually no scene. There are several rows of chairs for spectators. Therefore, not everyone can see well. But we came to listen...it was beautiful, but the acoustics were not very good. It was expected that it would be too loud, but the sound did not reach the hall, although the quartet of two violins, a viola and a cello were located half a meter from the audience. We chose the music program ABBA and Queen. ABBA's music seemed especially interesting to me when performed with strings. The musicians lacked artistry. Sometimes it seemed that only notes were being played. I wish they could rehearse more together. Overall it was an interesting experience.
