We're at this Lake Ohrid in late February this year. We took a cruise about an hour exploring the lake. After that we walked surrounding the area for souvenirs. There are many shops selling freshwater pearls.

Lake Ohrid is among the most visited places in North Macedonia, and for good reasons. It is simply captivating, from the bustling town of Ohrid to the magnificently blue and crystal clear waters of the lake. As one of the oldest and deepest lakes in Europe, it is hard not to feel the influence the lake has on the surrounding area. With its unique ecosystem, impressive Byzantine-era structures, and UNESCO status, Ohrid city as well as Lake Ohrid are truly one of the Balkan region’s highlights. A boat cruise around the lake is much recommended, cos’ this is how you can watch can admire the stunning Ohrid city skyline, as well as see some of the buildings and structures perched on the hills by the side of the lake. An amazing experience indeed to be on the boat, cruising around the lake. Grateful to have arrived here, and wish to come again if I have the opportunity.

It’s a pearl of the region. Scenic views, awesome nature. This is the deepest and the oldest lake on Balkans. During our stay the weather changed every hour from heavy rain to sunny weather and than again rain… You can rent a boat and see it’s nature from the water.

The most ancient lake in Europe, situated on the border between the southwestern region of North Macedonia and eastern Albania. We were on the Albanian side. Encircled by mountains, the lake boasts pristine, crystal-clear waters. The serene ambiance of the lake, coupled with the breathtaking panoramic view of the encompassing mountains, offers a welcome respite from the demands of everyday busy life.

Lake Ohrid is a lovely serene place to recharge and relax away from busy city life. While the beaches are stone there were plenty of people enjoying the water. The water is clear and clean. Nice running trail around the lake with hikes. The old town is quaint and fun to explore

Marvelous scenery! From here you can see across the Ohrid lake, impressive mountains and several towns in the distance. You can see part of both Macedonia and Albania from up here.

Beautiful view and good patjs for people who like to hike. I would recommend a whole day and just enjoy the nature. You have many paths which are from easy to hard. Also you pay an entry which belongs to maintain the park. I recommend also taking food and drinks by yourself.

The lake is situated in a pictoresque place. It is suitable for people who like to rest in such villages that are not full of tourists and fond of nature. We have seen it on 10 June in Resen opstina. You can see on photo.

Poorly developed place. Almost a half hearted attempt to transform an otherwise beautiful place to a tourist destination. Research and plan your visit in advance to avoid surprises.

Very long time ago since I was there for the last time. A beautiful place. Less spectacular than the Ohrid lake, but way less developed and polluted. water is about 4 degrees Celsius colder than in the Ohrid lake so less suitable for swimming.

I wish the google maps locations would be a bit better marked about where all those places are that people take photos of (gates, churches etc). We ended up on an unexpected hike. Don’t recommend unless it’s your plan and you know how to hike. But it was cool

Though we were just passing through and stayed just one night the views from the top of the mountain were incredible. We paid to enter the national park at the end of the mountain road that descended to the lake and they accepted card. We stayed on the eastern side of the lake at the Divino Camperstop which had good facilities and is walking distance to Ohrid though we didn’t have time to stop there.

The Galicica NP is a mountain range standing between two major lakes in North Macedonia - Ohrid Lake and Prespa Lake. It's a popular hiking and biking place with many paths, but we used it as a shortcut on our drive to Greece. There's an entry fee of around 5 Euros to enter it. Hair pin curves and several places to stop high up to admire both lakes. Road generally in good condition with some potholes, so do take care.

The whole mountain was burnt down very recently. There was a strong smell of smoke when I went there. Very unpleasant experience, certainly not worth the 5€ entrance fee. One would pay not to go there.

So sad how the national park is being turned into a landfill site of construction waste originating from the less than beautiful new holiday homes and hotels that are replacing the traditional stone houses. Thoughtless people are ruining the architectural and natural heritage.... 😢

Great park with some nice hiking and beaufitul driving through the mountains. The road is not too steep and quite wide, compared to many roads in Albania. There are some potholes but there is enough space to go around. Entrance fee was 200 MKD, collected at the bottom. Payment was cash or credit card.

A truly beautiful church with an incredible atmosphere. The lady working there was very kind and even let us in without charging an entrance fee. Such a peaceful and impressive place, definitely a must-visit in Ohrid.

This is beautifully restored. Extremely high ceiling with exposed beams and fabulous frescoes on sections of the walls and ceiling. Very quiet inside so you have space to be alone with your prayers and thoughts. On the back outside wall of the church where there is seating on steps you can just see under some brick work ancient paintings on the walls. And the highlight is in the garden I discovered to my delight 4 turtles 🐢💚

Beautiful old bizantine church. No entrance fee. Nice surroundings with beautiful tree outside the church. Peaceful and very interesting to visit. In the hours that we visit around 14:00-15:00 wasn't so crowded. Definitely worth seeing it.

The church of such rich history and architectural significance. It was basilica that turned into orthodox churc that turned into mosque and back to church. The traces of those turns can be seen on the walls of the church. It's also one of the rare surviving churches from the time before the split of Christianity. The good thing is that there's a plaque inside in English depicting the church history.

Great adventure with stunning view on the oldest lake in Europe, Ohrid Lake and the beautiful Prespa lake, in the same time

Having no previous mountain-climbing experience as such (although extensive experience from hiking and navigating difficult, rocky terrain) we discovered that the climb to the peak was no ordinary hike, and for example adequate shoes with a better grip would definitely have been in order. The descent along the steep mountain side near the huge billboard can be quite tricky. The ascend is also demanding and if you are not used to hiking it may be too much, or at least you may be in for a very strenuous endurance workout. The climb however is worth the effort if you are capable of it. The views on Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa and the hills/valleys between them are magnificent, and this trail might still be one of the easiest options out there if you want to be able to say that you have climbed an actual mountain. The trail is very well-marked and you will manage even without GPS.

The Old Bazaar in Skopje Old Town is a place that could be a charming dive into the city’s Ottoman past, but it ends up being an overwhelming and uncomfortable experience. The area is overcrowded with gypsies, some of whom engage in persistent begging that feels intrusive and, at times, intimidating. This detracts significantly from the experience, turning a leisurely walk into a stressful navigation through constant solicitations. Additionally, the strong presence of Muslim culture, including frequent calls to prayer echoing from what feels like countless mosques, can be jarring for visitors not accustomed to it. While this is part of the area’s cultural fabric, the sheer volume and intensity can feel overwhelming, especially when combined with the chaotic crowds. The bazaar’s authenticity is a double-edged sword—it’s vibrant and bustling, but the lack of order and the aggressive street interactions make it feel less like a cultural gem and more like a disorganized mess. The absence of visible efforts to manage the crowds or maintain a welcoming environment for tourists only adds to the frustration. For every moment of architectural charm, there’s an equal dose of discomfort that makes the visit feel like a chore. In short, the Old Bazaar has the potential to be a fascinating stop in Skopje, but the intrusive begging and relentless noise from nearby mosques make it far less appealing. It’s a shame, as the historical elements deserve better presentation.

historic marketplace that has been a hub of trade and culture since the Ottoman period. Lined with mosques, hammams, and artisan shops, it blends Eastern and Western influences, offering a vibrant glimpse into the city’s multicultural past and living traditions. Enjoy walking and around but be aware - on Sunday only few shops and restaurants are open, most of the shops are closed.

Visiting this place is like taking a trip back in time. It is one of the largest and oldest bazaars in the Balkans, dating back to the 12th century. The narrow cobblestone streets are filled with Ottoman-era architecture. The atmosphere is vibrant, full of craft shops, jewelers, cafes and restaurants. I found it great for a stroll, buying simple souvenirs and soaking up a genuine atmosphere.

A very interesting place, calm and vibrant in the same time. Worth to give it some time, both during daytime and in the evening, not only for shopping or having a beer or a coffee, but for a slow walk, to enjoy its history and spirit.

Charming bazar with great food, but watch the weather Visited on 26 October 2025 and spent about 2 hours exploring and trying food. The Old Bazar is a cute, small, historic area full of character, with lots of different things to try — perfect for wandering, taking in the architecture, and sampling local treats. We especially enjoyed some lokma at Lokmades Skopje, which was absolutely delicious! It was a bit rainy during our visit, and some roads had standing water due to poor drainage, so I’d suggest visiting on sunny days for a more comfortable experience. Overall, a must-visit spot for those wanting a taste of traditional Skopje and local flavors. ✅ Recommended.

Lovely area with an oriental charm and cozy cobbled streets. The atmosphere is warm and picturesque, especially in the evening with all the lights. It does feel quite touristy, though, and not exactly a must-see. Still, worth a short visit if you’re nearby.

I did eat THE pizza here. So I came back for other dishes and I am very happy with the cuisine here. Since it's a bar I did expect more beer choices and I wasn't let down. The service is nice and friendly.

The beer is great, but the service needs improvement. The whole place smells like smoke — you should really use an air freshener or better ventilation. Overall, good beer, but the service and atmosphere could be much better.

The bar was best all Macenodia i think. Excellent services, helpfull staff, delicious meal, unforgetable drinks was there. The bar has great armospher and decoration. Live football match, free wifi, inexpensive menu etc. very nice. I will miss the place. Thanks for everything....

I ordered a chicken steak with mushrooms and fries, but it was served with different sides than what the menu stated. When I pointed it out, they said the menu had changed. I sent the dish back, but the replacement arrived cold, dried out, and completely bland. On top of that, the service was dead slow. Overall, a very disappointing experience — I would not recommend.

Multiple screens showing all of the football matches. Staff are also happy to make sure there’s a screen showing the game you want at your request. Prices reasonable and staff friendly. Guinness is just over a fiver. Can get local beers for couple of quid. Got a burrito that was also about a fiver and did the job.

The waitress Anna Maria is the only good person in the pub.the other waiters treat you as animals or enemies.service is slow. We ordered french fries with cheese, but it was cold. We ordered sausage plate, the sausages were covered with plastic kind of gelatin, when we asked the male waiter if it was normal or not.He answered in a scolding manner, he was very very rude. Beers are good.prices are reasonable.atmosphere is good.but waiters are bad except for Anna Maria.

A decent Irish themed pub with draught Guinness (8/10). Terrace is kind of enclosed, and it’s a shame there is no real outdoor seating, because the location is fantastic, just opposite the old bridge. Service was efficient a friendly, and it gets busy enough for a bit of atmosphere, although at around 10pm on a Thursday, it certainly wasn’t crowded. It’s a big bar! They have screens and show sports also.

Ohrid City Park is such a beautiful and relaxing place. It has a very calm and peaceful vibe, perfect for walking, sitting, or just enjoying nature. The atmosphere feels safe and welcoming, with lots of greenery and fresh air. It’s easy to find a quiet spot to unwind, but at the same time the park has a good energy that makes you feel comfortable and refreshed. A really lovely place to spend time while in Ohrid.

Ohrid is an excellent travel destination in every way. In this park located by the lake, you can sit and eat and drink while watching the view. The park, which is quite quiet during the day, turns into a fairground in the evening. There are also statues of saints in the park. We love Ohrid!

Considering the number of tourists that come here on a daily basis, this park is not only very well maintained and clean but the people doing the work are very discreet. Nice place to visit, the lake is beautiful. There are some beaches but small, you need to go up in the morning to get a place that is not in the 🌞.

The last Mak Petrol from Macedonia on the highway at the exit of the country towards Serbia. The employees speak very good English and are very sociable. It is a modernized gas station. Also very clean in the bathroom. It is big and well organized.

Worst customer service. Non professional workers like the blonde cashier and the cleaner!!! They don’t know how to deal with CUSTOMERS!! Worthless

Not very organized petrol station. Almost always this petrol station is very busy and with a big crowd. This is thanks to to the many customers that are traveling to the near border, but nevertheless, the manager should be aware of this and employ more people. Or suggest expansion of the petrol station. Otherwise, the station is well supplied. However, if you can, fill your tank in other petrol station if you don't want to wait in line and lose valuable time.

I like the priced on FYROM very much.....a liter Diesel is 62Denar which is approx. 1€👍! The service is good as well, they even clean your front window! The shop is big enough to buy almost all products that you need for your trip! I always refuel MKD....good quality, good price!

They do not accept card payments and they kinda rip you off if you pay in euros. Also the location is not that nice. On the other hand fuel is pretty cheap (at least diesel).

STAY AWAY. Be careful, they rob at the dispenser. I entered the state and had my LPG gas tank full in Gevgeli.After 154km when i got to this pump in Kumanovo i expected that i needed 15- 20lt max to get fuelled up. Guess what, i got fuelled up with 30,3lt....!!!! (19,68LT/100 WHEN THE USUAL IS BETWEEN 10 AND 12LT/100) STAY AWAY

This was a truly breath-taking experience. Our pilots (both called Sasha) were clearly very experienced and made us feel safe when we were nervous, having never done something like this before. In hindsight, the precarious drive up through the national park to the takeoff site is probably the scariest part- the actual flight is very relaxing. The go-pro video and photos were an extra €10 but definitely worth it. The 1hr free paddle boarding at a beach bar afterwards was a fun added bonus and a great place to grab drinks/lunch. Would highly recommend!

We did Paragliding as a birthday gift and it was such an amazing experience! From start to finish the kindness was warming! We got picked up from our hotel outside of Ohrid & we took the jeep there up the mountains. Offroad as they said! Such a gorgeous view. Instructors were kind and very confident, so we felt comfortable throughout. The experience itself is breathtaking - feeling free, seeing the world from a different view. I would for sure do this again!

What an unforgettable experience! We had amazing weather, which made us stay up for over an hour, flying over the beautiful Galičica NP. It was crazy to see that we were the only ones in the sky that day. Thank you to the team and in particular the two Sasha’s that went with me up the mountain!

Flying with a paraglider has always been a dream of mine, and this experience did not disappoint! The pilot was incredibly professional and explained everything I needed to know beforehand, which made me feel safe and comfortable. This is such a nice place. The beach is on the smaller side but lovely. The restorants and caffes on it are affordable and very good, with shaded sitting areas and beachfront sunbeds. Theare is alao a childrens play area. The water itself is rocky at first but the ground softens the further you go out.

The water is muddy, you have to walk on mud and stones when you go inside the water, and once you reach deep waters there is algae and you can not swim any further.

Great place to relax

For a 70/80s Yugoslav vibe, relax & chill here at the army beach. Public access, you DO NOT have pay as some misleading gossips suggest. Crystal clear buoyant water. So good for swimming. Sandy Beach. Lovely grassed area adjacent. Put down a towel, snooze, swim, chill. Mich better than the touristed area. A real escape. For the conossiour who might like to experience what a Yugoslav beach was like in the 70/80s. Note - restaurant no longer functioning for the public (July 2025). Cafe on beach front operates 8.00 to 20.00. 50 denar for a macchiato. Such a great spot!

Beautiful and fairly clean/calm. Entrance is paid by a fairly small fee at the gate. The area is in an old camp and you can definitely feel the age of this place, its definitely not kept up too good. There is a sand beach with good views of the monastery tho.

There are too many beach chairs. I assume they're there to cover up all the cigarette buds on the sand. No pets allowed. Bathrooms are clean. Unfortunately there isn't a place to shower or rinse off after being in the lake.

The beach was the best so far, not too crowded, relaxing and you even have a café near by to get some coffee.

Nice little chapel which was closed when I visited. There was a sign stating the entrance fee is 50 dinars but it was closed. Nice yard, very well maintained. There is a bar right next to it which was offputting. Really sad this town milks every square meter for tourism

My friend and I had a great experience on our 2-hour ride on Darko’s boat! He was knowledgeable about the area, explained how the boat worked, and was fun to talk to. We had a two hour tour with wine tasting. Darko, the skipper, is a cool, awesome, laid-back, yet professional young man. Communicating with him was great from start to finish (while making the reservation, during our time on the boat, etc..). He shared some facts about Ohrid and some hidden gems, he even let us drive the boat for a bit :D. The wines are pretty good, the boat is equipped with a toilet, and it provides a shade on deck for the sunny days. The best part was the music and the overall vibe, I guarantee that you will have a great time. I highly recommend him, and I for sure will come back again 😊
