Historical landmark
The Ancient Macedonian Theatre of Ohrid, dating back to around 200 BCE, is a remarkable open-air amphitheater that offers a glimpse into the region's rich history. Unlike most ancient theaters in North Macedonia, this one hails from Greek times, making it a rare and significant structure. While exploring the well-preserved stone steps and seating, visitors can envision the historical events that once took place here.
Nice ancient Roman theater that is still in use today. It was buried until 1980. It is well preserved. It has awesome view on town and lake. There is no entrance fee.
Ana J — Google review
It's free to visit and a good spot to see halfway up to the fortress on the top of the hill. The place has had a great historical, cultural, and archaeological value for the town. It requires better maintenance but still worth paying a visit.
Haris D — Google review
One of the most important landmarks in Ohrid, Macedonia. Amazing place full of history and one of the best preserved ancient theatre that I visit. I highly recommend it! 😉
Alexandru S — Google review
It's incredible to find an ancient theater from the Hellenistic period so well-preserved and in the middle of the city. The best part is that access is open and completely free. You can walk through the seating rows, sit, and imagine what the performances were like centuries ago. Besides its historical importance, the site also offers a beautiful view of the lower part of the city and the lake.
Luana B — Google review
What a gift to be able to use ancient spaces in your everyday life. Discovered by accident by a man digging, this large ancient theatre is not just a historical site, but hosts summer concerts. There's no fee to see it as its part of the everyday city.
Austin G — Google review
Lovely ancient theater. In terms of experience and looks it's nothing special, but all the side details do lift it up. Open 24/7, still used for concerts, you can walk the top as a shortcut road. It really is not just a monument, but also still a real part of the city.
Sanne B — Google review
4stars as it's free to wander around, and maybe why the unmanned place is rather messy, and looking rather rundown... But really, visitors need to be more respectful. It's well worth a look, as just a few mins walk from several other sights in the area. And a good place to have a lil sit down and rest! In there, or a bar/cafe overlooking it.
Carlos V — Google review
The Ancient Theatre of Lychnidos, located in the city of Ohrid in present-day North Macedonia, is the only known Hellenistic-style theatre in the country. It was built around 200 BC, during the Hellenistic period, when Greek cultural influence was strong throughout the Balkans following the campaigns of Alexander the Great. The theatre reflects both the architectural style and cultural values of that era, characterized by open-air performances, strong acoustics, and integration into the natural landscape. The exact identity of the builders is not recorded, but it is widely believed that the theatre was commissioned by the wealthy elite of Lychnidos, a flourishing city that served as a regional cultural and administrative center. Its placement between two hills—Gorni Saraj and Deboj—not only provided excellent acoustic conditions but also shielded the audience from strong winds. The theatre had a semi-circular orchestra and a tiered seating area, typical of Hellenistic design, with an estimated capacity for several thousand spectators. Originally, the theatre was used for dramatic performances and other public gatherings rooted in Greek traditions. However, after the Roman conquest of the region in the 2nd century BC, its function changed. The Romans adapted the theatre for gladiator fights and public executions, typical of Roman-style entertainment. Modifications were made to accommodate these spectacles, including safety barriers and structural changes to the stage and orchestra area. With the spread of Christianity in the 4th century AD, the theatre fell into disuse. As the new religion gained dominance, structures associated with pagan rituals or violent spectacles were abandoned or destroyed. Local residents began dismantling the theatre, using its stone blocks to build churches, basilicas, and other early Christian structures around Ohrid. Over time, the theatre was buried under layers of soil and debris and was eventually forgotten. The site remained hidden for centuries until its rediscovery in the 20th century. In 1935, during construction work in the area, parts of the theatre were accidentally uncovered. Systematic archaeological excavations began in 1959 and continued through the 1970s and 1980s. These excavations revealed the lower seating areas, sections of the orchestra, and several inscriptions in ancient Greek. Notably, some of the discovered stone blocks contained the names of people condemned to die in Roman games, evidence of the theatre’s transformation under Roman rule. In 2002, a major restoration effort was launched to stabilize the structure and make it suitable for public events. Today, the theatre is partially restored and serves as one of Ohrid’s most important cultural venues. It hosts performances during the annual Ohrid Summer Festival, including theatre, music, and dance, reconnecting the monument with its original artistic purpose. The Ancient Theatre of Lychnidos stands as a rare and valuable example of Hellenistic architecture in the Balkans. Its history—from a Greek cultural center to a Roman arena, then a forgotten ruin, and finally a modern performance venue—mirrors the broader historical transformations of the region over more than two millennia.

History Museums
Museum “The Bay of Bones” is a reconstructed village of stilt houses showcasing artifacts from the Bronze and Iron Ages found in Lake Ohrid. The museum offers a comprehensive collection of specimens and illustrations of many endemic species from the area. Situated on the south coast of the Gradishte peninsula, this prehistoric settlement spans approximately 8500 square meters and features a reconstruction identical to the remains of an underwater archaeological site dating back to 1200-700 B.C.
Very interesting and well maintained. The site is dog friendly (leashed) you are just required to pick up your dog if you enter the museum. Easy to spend a relaxed hour wandering around. Very picturesque.
Chrissie S — Google review
Not a bad little place to stop by for a 30 minute wander around. The main building was still being worked on so there wasn't much in the information and display items. The reconstructed village from the hunter gather period is rather impressive when you consider people did live like this. It has a certain charm about it and it was only 150 denar for entry so not a costly entrance fee but do not come here expecting a full day here as it is quite small.
Lance C — Google review
Don't be fooled, it's a reconstruction of the original Bronze Age settlement. Yet, neatly done, worth a stroll. For diving enthusiasts, try the scuba diving to see the original underwear village remains. Nice view from the top where once a Roman garrison resided.
Marcin J — Google review
The bay of bones museum is my favourite one I've visited! The place is well modelled and if you have a guide (if not you can scan a code to get a digital one) it's even better! So you can understand more of the history 😁
Filip T — Google review
Really interesting and unique place to visit. The Bay of Bones is a reconstructed ancient settlement on the lake, and it’s a cool way to get a glimpse into the past. There’s a small entrance fee of 150 denars and the museum is easy to explore in a short time. I came by scooter, which was super easy. There’s a lot of parking space available. The area is peaceful with beautiful views over Lake Ohrid, and the whole site is easy to reach and tourist friendly. Great little stop if you’re exploring the area!
Tila N — Google review
This was a ‘must-visit place’ during our trip to North Macedonia. We spent approximately two hours there and really enjoyed it! The water is crystal clear, which is truly amazing to see in person. The road leading there is well-maintained but quite winding, so please drive carefully.
Edin Z — Google review
Beautiful and affordable! A must see while around ohrid lake. Make sure to visit before noon so you can find a parking spot and avoid the boat tour crowds that come in around 10am.
Matyas A — Google review
Visiting the Bay of Bones Museum was nothing short of magical. Nestled just off the eastern shore of Lake Ohrid, this open-air archaeological site transports you back thousands of years, set against one of the most tranquil and beautiful landscapes in Macedonia. The museum’s most striking feature is its recreation of prehistoric village life - traditional huts built on a wooden platform above the water, echoing the ancient Bronze and Iron Age settlement that once stood here from around 1200 to 700 BC. Walking across the stilts and wooden bridges, you can almost imagine lake-dwellers of old going about their daily lives. Inside the small museum, original artifacts, including pottery, tools, and wooden piles, are displayed with just enough context to illuminate how these early communities lived. The reconstructions are remarkable - everything from living quarters to workshops is crafted with great attention to detail on how our ancestors worked, hunted, and fished. The views are spectacular. The lake’s turquoise waters mirror the mountains and sky, transforming every moment into a photo-worthy memory. I’d recommend visiting early in the day for fewer crowds. Access is easy by car or taxi from Ohrid town. Signs along the R501 are helpful, and there is ample parking right near the entrance. The walk to the exhibit is short but on rustic paths - comfortable footwear is advised. The museum is open most days (closed Mondays) with fair entry fees. Staff are friendly and, in some cases, quite passionate and informative - adding a personal touch to the visit. All in all, the Bay of Bones Museum is a small but impactful stop - an absolute must-see for anyone exploring Macedonia. It blends stunning scenery, historical intrigue, and immersive reconstructions into a single unforgettable experience.

The Church of Saint Sophia is a significant Macedonian Orthodox Church located in the heart of Ohrid's Old Town. Dating back to the 9th century, it has undergone multiple renovations and rebuilds due to historical transitions. The church showcases centuries-old religious art and Byzantine-style architecture, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts. Along with other notable churches in Ohrid like St. John, St.
The staff are super friendly and welcoming. The church is well kept - though it resembles a concert hall inside. Any digital camera lense will enhance the old paintings and frescos seen on the ancient walls. The acoustics are excellent inside. The display of souvenirs inside are tasteful and very pretty and well priced.

Nestled in the picturesque town of Ohrid, The Church of St. Sophia stands as a beacon of historical significance and architectural grandeur. The Church of St. Sophia is renowned for its miraculous survival through tumultuous times. Despite the Ottoman conquest, which saw many churches converted into mosques, St. Sophia retained much of its original structure and artistry. This resilience makes it not only a testament to the past but an enduring symbol of cultural identity and spiritual continuity. As visitors wander through its hallowed halls today, they are enveloped in a serene ambiance, where history and spirituality converge. The Church of St. Sophia continues to inspire awe and reverence, inviting travelers to delve into the rich tapestry of Ohrid's past. Indeed, a good experience to be here.

A truly beautiful church with an incredible atmosphere. The lady working there was very kind and even let us in without charging an entrance fee. Such a peaceful and impressive place, definitely a must-visit in Ohrid.
Aleksandra M — Google review
This is beautifully restored. Extremely high ceiling with exposed beams and fabulous frescoes on sections of the walls and ceiling. Very quiet inside so you have space to be alone with your prayers and thoughts. On the back outside wall of the church where there is seating on steps you can just see under some brick work ancient paintings on the walls. And the highlight is in the garden I discovered to my delight 4 turtles 🐢💚

Beautiful old bizantine church. No entrance fee. Nice surroundings with beautiful tree outside the church. Peaceful and very interesting to visit. In the hours that we visit around 14:00-15:00 wasn't so crowded. Definitely worth seeing it.
Daklea B — Google review
The church of such rich history and architectural significance. It was basilica that turned into orthodox churc that turned into mosque and back to church. The traces of those turns can be seen on the walls of the church. It's also one of the rare surviving churches from the time before the split of Christianity. The good thing is that there's a plaque inside in English depicting the church history.

Monastery Saint Naum is an Eastern Orthodox monastery that was established in 905 and is now open to the public, offering stunning views of the lake and live peacocks. It holds historical significance as it was where Saints Kliment and Naum, with the assistance of Bulgarian king Boris, developed the Cyrillic alphabet used in North Macedonia and neighboring countries.
This place is amazing. Starting from the beautiful park with natural streams and fountain. To the church and restaurant, to the amazing views at the beach and of course the amazing peacocks that live there. Also a great place to take many pictures of or just chill under the shadows of the trees. 🫰
Gaming C — Google review
The monastery is beautiful and definitely worth a visit. The entrance fee is €2.5, but we didn’t have to pay as they let us in for free. What felt strange to me is that everything around the monastery is a beach and swimming area, so people come into the monastery courtyard dressed inappropriately, loud and disrespectful. I believe this should be addressed in a better way for those who visit the monastery for spiritual reasons, so their peace is not disturbed
Aleksandra M — Google review
located at the bottom end of Lake Ohrid. free parking is available. plenty of gift shops and restaurants the monastery itself is nice and pleasant with some in frescos but isn't anything amazing. there is a nice beach area and the "springs" with boat trips.
John N — Google review
Really beautiful spot! There are a couple of nice places to walk around with multiple chapels on the property, all of which are lovely. Don’t miss St. Naum’s tomb where you can hear his heart beating 1100 years later. Also some great little shopping spots for Ohrid pearls and filigree art.
Christie F — Google review
Beautiful and fairly affordable to visit! Definitely warrants a full day trip to enjoy the whole area tho! You only pay the parking fee while entering by car. There are small shops with gifts, souvenirs, food/water and beach amenities. Two big restaurants and paid toilets by the entrance. The surroundings are beautiful and the history is also interesting. Make sure to visit before noon to enjoy it better with less people tho. If you plan to visit the sandy beaches too there are paid loungers at the main part of the monastery grounds, but if you want a more calmer environment you can go by the monastery, to the ‘’beach saint naum’’ where you pay an entrance fee but have a calmer beach in return. You can also try the boat tour around the crystal clear springs.
Matyas A — Google review
Beautiful place in Ohrid. It feels like you are living during the medieval times. The castle is still intact from the time it was built, it’s a place of it’s own. Some peacocks wander outside of the monastery, it’s possible to visit the inside of the monastery which is considered a sacred place, as sveti naum (saint naum) is buried there. Absolute banger
Dorian A — Google review
Such a lovely place & some great views over the lake. Just a shame the entry to the monastery was locked. Nice beach area too.

A beautiful place near the lake, a bit of a walk for those with walking issues up on the stone path, but if you take it easy you will be fine. It's a very interesting and small place with some ancient frescos. The views over the lake are fantastic.

Ohrid Boardwalk is a picturesque over-water pathway that runs along the town's breezy shore, leading to Kaneo fishing village and the renowned Church of Sveti Jovan. The boardwalk guides visitors to rocky beaches and a cluster of charming restaurants and bars. During summer, Potpesh Beach attracts sunbathers, swimmers, and diners with its clear waters and stunning cliff-backed scenery.
One of my favorite parts from our visit to Ohrid. Even if we didn’t have a great weather, the views and the walk was very cute and beautiful. I can only imagine how amazing the vibe is during high season.
K R — Google review
Such a beautiful and peaceful walk! I went to the Ohrid Boardwalk around 9 AM and it was completely empty. Calm, quiet, and perfect to enjoy the lake. The views are amazing, and the water is so clear. It’s an easy walk along the wooden path by the cliffs, great for photos and relaxing.
Tila N — Google review
Walking along the Ohrid boardwalk was such a beautiful experience. The views over the lake are absolutely stunning, especially during sunset when the colors reflect on the water. The whole walk feels very peaceful and calm, away from traffic, and it’s perfect for relaxing, taking photos, or just enjoying nature.
Yala L — Google review
This is a very cool and unmissable walk. It's a wooden pathway built over the water, skirting the cliff along the lake's edge. The views along the entire route are beautiful, perfect for photos. Surprisingly, we didn't find many visitors there, which made the walk quieter and more private. A heads-up: since the path is very close to the water, depending on the wind, the waves can crash and you might get a bit wet. This path is how you reach the famous Church of St. John (Kaneo), making it a very pleasant way to access it and appreciate the lake up close.
Luana B — Google review
The Ohrid Boardwalk in Ohrid, North Macedonia, is a beautiful spot perfect for a relaxing walk. Stretching along the lakefront, it offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and mountains, creating a scenic backdrop that’s ideal for a leisurely stroll. The boardwalk is well-maintained with a smooth, wooden pathway, making it easy and pleasant to navigate. There are a couple of cafes along the route where I stopped for a coffee, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. The area has a calm yet lively vibe, with a mix of locals and tourists adding to the charm. It can get slightly busy during peak times, but it never feels overwhelming. The evening lights add a nice touch to the experience, making it a great place to unwind.

Beautiful romantic location for a stroll. Few boards/plants of wood missing/with large holes- so be careful with children and strollers.

Take a walk on the Ohrida Boardwalk for one amazing experience! We walk on this boardwalk in the sunset, with the sun reflection in the Ohrid Lake and it was an amazing experience. I highly recommend it for a one in a lifetime experience or for a romantic walk. Perfect for pictures.

Kaneo is a small, rocky beach located on Lake Ohrid, offering visitors the chance to enjoy traditional seafood restaurants and a swimming platform. The city of Ohrid boasts several renowned beaches such as Kaneo beach, Cuba libre beach, and Labino beach. Additionally, some luxury 4-star hotels in Ohrid have their own beaches and offer amenities like fitness centers. Visitors can also explore the fusion of Byzantine and Armenian architectural styles at an ancient church overlooking the lake.
such a nice beach. 1 sunbed with an umbrella is 10€. also the bar there is reasonably priced (aperol around 6/7€) and they got good ice cream! also the staff there is very friendly and helpful🥰
Katharina A — Google review
This place is absolutely amazing. Such a historical site set on the small cliff overlooking the lake. There is also a great little beach at the bottom of the cliff!
Oliver S — Google review
This is a beautiful beach that I recommend to everyone. I have come to Ohrid multiple times to visit family, and this beach is always a must. At the time of my visit, there are sunbeds you can pay for, the wooden ones are 600 denari, the plastic ones are 300 denari. You get a little table and umbrella to go along with it. It's a bit on the pricey side, but you're allowed to put your towel on the ground as well. Most people opt to pay for a sunbed though, as the pebbles can get annoying should you choose the latter. There is a cafe there with food such as pizza, and different variations of pancakes for dessert. They also make beverages such as coffee, alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, etc... Also slightly on the more pricey side, but that is due to the convenience of the cafe being right there on the beach. The staff were also very friendly. As for the beach itself, it's got stunning views of the lake, and should you want to do some sightseeing before coming down there, there is the beautiful St John Kaneo church above that is accessible via a path on foot. The views from there are stunning. Just remember to dress modestly if going inside! There is also music they play from loud speakers for a nice beachy vibe. Overall, this is a beach I recommend to anyone who visits, and for those who are staying relatively close near the town, it is pretty much accessible by walk. I myself walked from my apartment to the beach, it took about 30-40min, but when you get there, it makes it all worth it. Key things: Bring sunscreen, it can get hot in the sun there. Also recommend bringing reef shoes if you plan to swim. They have placed sandbags at the entrance to the water that acts like an "underwater footpath", but beyond that there are more rocks, so having reef shoes can be very helpful. Seriously, come to this beach if you want to relax and get a feel of the stunning fresh water lake.
Kiki293 — Google review
Kaneo Beach, located just below the iconic Church of St. Kaneo, is one of the most beautiful and well known spots in Ohrid. The view is breathtaking, and the atmosphere is unique. However, the evening service could use a bit more attention. Serving a cocktail in a plastic cup at night doesn’t quite match the experience ,I understand it’s a beach and for daytime that’s fine, but in the evening, when guests come to relax and enjoy, a more appropriate presentation would make it perfect.
Marijana N — Google review

Kaneo - the symbol of Ohrid. Local people say, if you haven't been to Kaneo it's like you haven't visited Ohrid. The magnificent architecture of the church od St. John Theologist - Kaneo, has an iconic role of the existence of Ohrid.

Beautiful beachside area with restaurant/bar & sun loungers
Felix K — Google review
It's a nice place if you want to chill next to the water. Pleasant scenery and romantic lighting. Decent and friendly staff as well, except for the fact that the table next to us never got served and they ended up leaving. There were three waiters and it was an exremely slow and relaxed evening with only a few tables filled. The table was not cleaned, however, and we were served our drinks in regular plastic cups, despite obviously not ordering takeaway. For a place charging premium prices: 230mkd for 330ml beer, 200mkd for a 330ml serving of soft drink, 350mkd for a serving of pancakes, you'd expect them to give you a glass for your 140mkd 330ml of sparkling water.

One of the most iconic sights in Ohrid, perched on a cliff above the lake with breathtaking views. The small church is full of history and charm, and the setting is simply magical, especially at sunset. Entrance is 2.5€. A must-visit and one of the most photographed places in North Macedonia. Very crowded too
Aleksandra M — Google review
A tiny church, with more to see outside than inside. We paid the 150MKD to enter but it isn't really worth it. Just walk along from town and enjoy the spectacular scenery outside and you will have justified the effort. The views to the north and south are amazing and the iconic photo from above is special...... just make sure you ascend from the fortress rather, or pass on your way up rather than giving yourself extra climbing steps 🤣
Idris E — Google review
This is probably the region's postcard image, and rightly so. The church is perfectly positioned on a cliff above the lake. The walk to get there is well worth it, especially if you take the boardwalk. Entry to the garden surrounding the church is free and already offers spectacular views. I'm not sure, but I think you have to pay to enter the church itself. Either way, the view from the top is beautiful and makes for incredible photos.

Beautiful boardwalk from the main city centre, past 3 beach areas, crowded every time I've been there, with restuarant. The walk to the top to the church is all up hill, but steps are good and solid, so walking is easy. For those with walking issues you may find it a bit more strenuous, but the steps are wide so you can stop to catch your breath if needed. No seats along the way. The Church is spectacular, and has been maintained well. The view is 2nd to none and worth the trip up. Consider having cash with you and catch a little boat back.

Such a magnificent spot. The view as you approach the church is great, as is the view at the church. You can climb up the cliff to get even better views over the church and out to the lake.

— Stunning architecture with an amazing view Spent about 1 hour visiting the Church of Saint Jovan along with a walk around the Old Town of Ohrid. The church is easily accessible by car and offers a beautiful combination of architecture and natural scenery. Perched on a hill overlooking the lake, the view is simply breathtaking — a true miracle of nature. The entrance fee was 3 € (a bit cheaper if paid in MKD), and it was worth every cent. Everything about the visit — the church, the hill, the lake view — was fantastic. ✅ Highly recommended for anyone visiting Ohrid.

The Church of Saint John the Theologian at Kaneo is beautifully situated on the edge of a cliff overlooking the beautiful Ohrid lake providing some stunning views and photo opportunities. A lovely walk along the boardwalk will take you up to the church. It is not wheelchair accessible and the steps could be an issue for those with walking difficulties. Beautiful location and well looked after.

Perched on a hill overlooking Lake Ohrid, the Church of Saints Clement & Panteleimon is an ancient Byzantine church with a rich history and impressive architecture. It is believed to have been built on the site where the Glagolitic script, precursor to today's Cyrillic script, was created. The church's courtyard contains remnants of old structures and columns, adding to its archaeological significance.
Definitely the best place to see amazing sunset in Ohrid. It takes around 15 minutes to get here from the center. The entrance into the church is charged. We went there twice but somehow it was closed. But the outside view is more than enough. Amazing place.

The beautifully restored church of Saints Clement of Ohrid is a lovely place with some great photo opportunities of the surrounding areas. The church was rebuilt on the foundations of the old church which parts of can still be seen through installed glass viewing panels. The restored painted artwork inside is masterfully done showing the vibrant colours that once were. Old parts of the painted artwork can still be seen including some very beautiful mosaics. Lovely way to spend an hour.

I love churches, and the ones in Orthodox style are beautiful in my opinion. This church had a nice view of the lake and the exterior was breathtaking. There can't be pictures taken inside the church but let me tell you it was beautiful, restored pairings and nice interior. I definitely recommend visiting this church. The tickets also weren't so expensive. They were cheap.
Sára D — Google review
More interesting inside than the church of St John, but obviously doesn't have the location. Outside there's historical ruins, including the baptismal font and inside the frescos are renewed. Okay, so there not original, but the church has been carefully restored following the destruction during the rule of the Ottoman empire. Beneath your feet are the original foundations from nearly 1000 years ago. Overall probably the best church to pay to enter in Ohrid.

A beautiful and historically important church built on the site where Saint Clement founded the first Slavic university. The atmosphere is peaceful, and the views over Ohrid are wonderful. Interesting to visit, entry is 3€

Ohrid it's the city of churches! I don't think I saw so many churches in a small arealike here! Maybe just in Nessebar, Bulgaria. The beautifully orthodox church of Saints Clement of Ohrid is a lovely and quiet place. This small but beautiful church was rebuilt on the foundations of the old church which parts of can still be seen through installed glass viewing panels. Inside you will find colorful orthodox paintings, some very old. The surroundings of the church are perfect for photos, because the church it's situated in a high place with a great 360 panoramic view especially of the lake.

Nestled along the stunning shores of Lake Ohrid, Potpesh Beach is a hidden gem that promises an unforgettable experience. This charming pebble beach boasts a picturesque setting under towering cliffs and offers breathtaking views of the tranquil waters. Accessible via a scenic wooden walkway from the town center, it’s perfect for leisurely strolls—just be cautious if you’ve indulged in a few drinks!
Very nice place. Crowded. The beach have restaurant and tanning chairs. No sand, just small pebbels

Nice, clean beach. However, pretty hard to get served. Not a lot of servers were walking on the beach, so if you paid for a lounge chair, it was almost impossible to order drinks or food.

A small beach by the lake. In winter time when we got there, it was very quiet and and a lovely place to take some photos. Also the next day was windy and the waves of the lake was fun there!

Potpesh Beach is a hidden gem in the heart of Ohrid. Nestled right beneath the old town and next to charming stone houses, it offers a unique blend of history and natural beauty. The water is crystal clear and perfect for a refreshing swim, especially in the morning when it’s calm and peaceful. It’s a small beach, but that’s part of the charm – not too crowded, and the views of the lake and old town are incredible. There are a few nearby cafés and bars where you can grab a drink and enjoy the relaxing vibe. Highly recommended for a quiet swim or a romantic sunset moment. A must-visit if you’re exploring Ohrid!
Mateo M — Google review
It’s okay, nothing more than that. You can rent chairs and umbrellas for 10€ in a pair coffe was okay soft drinks not cold so much.
Stefan S — Google review
The beach is extremely beautiful, lots of chairs to relax on and worth to go to on a holiday. Because it's probably the best beach that's closest to the centre. However, the "restaurant" Plaža Potpeš is not the best. They'll give you a delay of service, dirty glasses to your drinks and just bad service in general. They're called a "restaurant" but they don't serve any food, which is a shame cause of their location. We ordered cocktails for 250 Denar on their cocktail menu. But they charged us 350 Denar because it's 3 years old, and they haven't changed it until then. We asked the staff in another occasion, if they could help us get some chairs that belonged to the restaurant, which no one sat on except they were some towels on them. They were even empty when we got there. The total time they were free were around two hours. We got pretty frustrated, but eventually some other chairs got free and we sat there instead, luckily. It feels like with this behaviour, they lack experience and service skills which is understandable. Because the staff looks like they're around 14-15 years old. My advice to you as a tourist is to not order drinks from them, but rather sit far away and bring your own alcohol. It's cheaper than to pay drinks and the fee for the chairs, which is the more luxurious ones. I hope I was any help for anyone, have a great summer in Ohrid!

National Park Galicica is a nature lover's paradise located around Mount Galicica, offering rugged hiking and biking trails that provide stunning views of the vast Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa. The park's peaks rise to over 2,000 meters, ensuring breathtaking panoramic vistas of the lakes and surrounding towns. For those seeking an adrenaline rush, paragliding tandem tours offer a bird's-eye view of Ohrid.
Amazing park, all the park was full with snow, it's a must stop in the winter

I wish the google maps locations would be a bit better marked about where all those places are that people take photos of (gates, churches etc). We ended up on an unexpected hike. Don’t recommend unless it’s your plan and you know how to hike. But it was cool
Liisi — Google review
Though we were just passing through and stayed just one night the views from the top of the mountain were incredible. We paid to enter the national park at the end of the mountain road that descended to the lake and they accepted card. We stayed on the eastern side of the lake at the Divino Camperstop which had good facilities and is walking distance to Ohrid though we didn’t have time to stop there.

The Galicica NP is a mountain range standing between two major lakes in North Macedonia - Ohrid Lake and Prespa Lake. It's a popular hiking and biking place with many paths, but we used it as a shortcut on our drive to Greece. There's an entry fee of around 5 Euros to enter it. Hair pin curves and several places to stop high up to admire both lakes. Road generally in good condition with some potholes, so do take care.
Dejan B — Google review
The whole mountain was burnt down very recently. There was a strong smell of smoke when I went there. Very unpleasant experience, certainly not worth the 5€ entrance fee. One would pay not to go there.
Dragan V — Google review
So sad how the national park is being turned into a landfill site of construction waste originating from the less than beautiful new holiday homes and hotels that are replacing the traditional stone houses. Thoughtless people are ruining the architectural and natural heritage.... 😢
Erik T — Google review
Great park with some nice hiking and beaufitul driving through the mountains. The road is not too steep and quite wide, compared to many roads in Albania. The Old Bazaar in Skopje is a lively and colorful area, showcasing the Ottoman architectural style with its mosques, markets, shops, and cafes. Visitors can immerse themselves in the city's culture by exploring museums like The National Archeology & Ethnology Museum and The Museum of Modern & Contemporary Art. Walking along the Kaldrma roads, also known as Sampietrini to foreigners, offers a glimpse into traditional Skopje with antique shops and quaint cafes.
The Old Bazaar in Skopje is a must-see destination filled with history, vibrant culture, and lively atmosphere. Wandering through the cobbled streets and maze-like alleys, you’ll discover everything from traditional shops and galleries to cozy coffee houses and excellent restaurants. The architecture blends Ottoman and Byzantine styles, with highlights like the Mustafa Pasha Mosque and historic inns, fully immersing visitors in centuries of heritage. Shopping here is a real experience—local vendors offer handmade crafts, antiques, and souvenirs at very reasonable prices. As you explore, the scent of grilled kebabs, fresh bread, and Turkish coffee fills the air. The area is also known for its friendly service and rich blend of Macedonian and Albanian cultures. The bazaar is not just about commerce; it’s a center for cultural events, nightlife, and people-watching. Whether you visit early in the morning for a quiet stroll or at sunset to see the stone streets glowing under golden lights, you’ll be captivated by the energy and charm of this part of Skopje. It’s well worth dedicating 2-3hours to truly soak it all in.
Hynek — Google review
The Old Bazaar in Skopje Old Town is a place that could be a charming dive into the city’s Ottoman past, but it ends up being an overwhelming and uncomfortable experience. The architecture is undeniably interesting, with its narrow cobblestone streets, old stone buildings, and remnants of a bygone era that give it a certain historical allure. The preserved shops, caravanserais, and traditional facades offer a glimpse into Skopje’s past, and for history buffs, this could be a highlight. However, the atmosphere is marred by issues that make it hard to enjoy. The area is overcrowded with gypsies, some of whom engage in persistent begging that feels intrusive and, at times, intimidating. This detracts significantly from the experience, turning a leisurely walk into a stressful navigation through constant solicitations. Additionally, the strong presence of Muslim culture, including frequent calls to prayer echoing from what feels like countless mosques, can be jarring for visitors not accustomed to it. While this is part of the area’s cultural fabric, the sheer volume and intensity can feel overwhelming, especially when combined with the chaotic crowds. The bazaar’s authenticity is a double-edged sword—it’s vibrant and bustling, but the lack of order and the aggressive street interactions make it feel less like a cultural gem and more like a disorganized mess. The absence of visible efforts to manage the crowds or maintain a welcoming environment for tourists only adds to the frustration. For every moment of architectural charm, there’s an equal dose of discomfort that makes the visit feel like a chore. In short, the Old Bazaar has the potential to be a fascinating stop in Skopje, but the intrusive begging and relentless noise from nearby mosques make it far less appealing. It’s a shame, as the historical elements deserve better presentation.
Hristiyan V — Google review
The Old Bazaar in Skopje was an unforgettable experience that truly captured the charm and spirit of the city. Walking through its narrow cobbled streets, I felt surrounded by history, with Ottoman-era architecture, old inns, and beautiful mosques creating a unique and timeless atmosphere. The blend of cultures and traditions gave the place a vibrant and authentic character. I loved browsing the small shops filled with traditional crafts, jewelry, and souvenirs, and the aroma of local food and coffee made the visit even more delightful. The lively yet welcoming atmosphere made it easy to spend hours exploring. The Old Bazaar was a perfect mix of history, culture, and everyday life—a highlight of my trip to Skopje.

historic marketplace that has been a hub of trade and culture since the Ottoman period. Lined with mosques, hammams, and artisan shops, it blends Eastern and Western influences, offering a vibrant glimpse into the city’s multicultural past and living traditions. Enjoy walking and around but be aware - on Sunday only few shops and restaurants are open, most of the shops are closed.
Matej S — Google review
Visiting this place is like taking a trip back in time. It is one of the largest and oldest bazaars in the Balkans, dating back to the 12th century. The narrow cobblestone streets are filled with Ottoman-era architecture. The atmosphere is vibrant, full of craft shops, jewelers, cafes and restaurants. I found it great for a stroll, buying simple souvenirs and soaking up a genuine atmosphere.
Luana B — Google review
A very interesting place, calm and vibrant in the same time. Worth to give it some time, both during daytime and in the evening, not only for shopping or having a beer or a coffee, but for a slow walk, to enjoy its history and spirit.

Charming bazar with great food, but watch the weather Visited on 26 October 2025 and spent about 2 hours exploring and trying food. The Old Bazar is a cute, small, historic area full of character, with lots of different things to try — perfect for wandering, taking in the architecture, and sampling local treats. We especially enjoyed some lokma at Lokmades Skopje, which was absolutely delicious! It was a bit rainy during our visit, and some roads had standing water due to poor drainage, so I’d suggest visiting on sunny days for a more comfortable experience. Overall, a must-visit spot for those wanting a taste of traditional Skopje and local flavors. ✅ Recommended.

Visitors can witness the fascinating process of paper-making and explore various prints created with an original Gutenberg printing press, one of only two still in use worldwide. The workshop's unassuming exterior belies its captivating interior, where visitors can observe demonstrations on paper production and browse through a collection of handmade paper and prints.

It's an amazing place and living history. Every macedonian and foreign visitor should stop by this workshop. They make paper in the old ways using the Gutenberg press from the 15th century. According to the owner, there are only three of them like it in Europe. One is in Germany, where it originated from, of course, and the other two are in Slovenia and in Ohrid, Macedonia. The entrance is free, they make the paper in front of you also for free, so you lose nothing but your time and get so much in return. The owner is very friendly. It was an amazing experience to see papar being made in real time. Any lover of culture should visit. The prices for the paper are reasonable for a piece of history and worth it.

One of the best beaches in ohrid lake. Very unbelievably clear water, stony beach, few nice restaurants and a small supermarket. Our #1 favorite beach for swimming/paddleboarding when we went beach hunting for everything between Ohrid and St. Naum via motorcycle. It's a beach of large round smooth rocks and crystal clear water within a crescent shaped area, so very calm water when winds are low and easier to walk/wade into barefoot than other places. There are gorgeous restaurants on the rock beach, paddleboard rentals, and beach chairs at various spots. It requires walking down a modest hill, and parking is very limited (we were barely able to fit our scooter/motorcycle and spied a couple paying a local for his driveway parking as we left). Make sure you have bike locks if you bicycle there so as not to carry them up and down the cobblestone hill.

Beautiful scenery but beware as it's full of medium to large rocks that will give you cuts on your legs and feet if not very careful. Limited shore space and difficult access in and out of the water. A raised walkway allows visitors to get a close-up look at this marvelous spectacle.

The church was built by St.Clement  in the year 893, on the foundation of an earlier Christian basilica, and dedicated to St.Panteleimon.Otomans destroyed it and build a mosque. Church was restored in 2002 on old foundation. Inside church are remain of St. Clement. Arheological place is still restored. On the ground are also old baptismal font from early christian period, mosaics and newly built theological university. On entrance you can find local guide that works for some small fee.

Such high potential and so unkept! It is beautiful here to see all the history, but most of the area is overgrown, paths aren’t clear, there are fenced off areas with more interesting areas that you don’t get access to. So strange to see such a historic place look almost abandoned. The whole area just seems unfinished.
Matyas A — Google review
The faux-Byzantine basilica is nice but calling the entire place an archaeological park is a stretch. More like an archeological wasteland — nothing to see, just rocks and brick shards and scorched grass and remnants of walls — without information boards or any type of information whatsoever. Make an effort!

If you are into history, this site is a must! You will find one of the oldest church in Ohrid, walls from ancient times and old mosaics perfect preserved. This archeological park It’s full with art and mosaics, one of them said to be brought by Alexander the Great himself! So... Don't miss it!!! 😉

Entrance fee of 150 denar for the archaeological park and the church. Wished they have put up information board as we couldn’t find any info about the park

The walk from the church up is Not very well organised here, in fact at some point you feel like you are sneaking in the back of a working area.

An archeological site with a beautiful church. 150 denars entrance fee. The colors and details on the bricks of the church is very beautiful, the interior is also very cool too. There's also a nice viewpoint of the lake inside. However, there's no informational signage in the site, so without a guide there's barely anything to learn from the site.

The Church of Holy Mary Peryvleptos is a historic Byzantine church located in the old part of Ohrid, dating back to the 13th century. It is renowned for its elaborate wall murals depicting religious scenes, including original works by 13th-century painters from Thessaloniki. Often referred to as the Macedonian Sistine Chapel, this magnificent structure also houses a small collection of black and white photographs showcasing Ohrid during the Ottoman period.
As told by our guide of the old town. This church (and fresco interior) survived the great Ottoman purge, of the region, due to it being dedicated to Mary the mother of Jesus who is recognised in the Koran.

The church has beautiful frescoes and historic value, but sadly it feels neglected and not well maintained. I didn’t experience much spiritual atmosphere here, and was disappointed by the behavior of the staff. Entrance is €3

A small, but beautiful church with ancient paintings inside. On the outside are views of the town and lake and an icon gallery.

Beautiful artwork but very dark inside and hard to discern some of the images. Worth a stop on the way up or down to/from the fortress.

Quite close to Upper Gate, again a nice restored church which has nice views of old town and lake.
Hakan A — Google review
Very close to the Ancient Theatre of Ohrid, after walking up the steps to visit the area. Cost is 150 MKD per person and no pictures are allowed to be taken inside, it is forbidden. Built in 1295, the Holy Mother of God Peribleptos is one of the oldest churches in the town of Ohrid in southwestern Macedonia. The frescoes in the church include images from the Passion and the Gospels, the life of the Virgin Mary, and the life of John the Baptist. Most of the original frescoes have faded, but the overall picture is still there to see. Overall, worth a visit if in the area.

Take a walk on the narrow streets of Ohrid, Macedonia and you will find many small or large christian orthodox churches. The Virgin Mary Peribletos it's one of this beautiful churches. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary this church is very old and has beautiful frescoes. I really like it here.
Alexandru S — Google review
As of September 2025, this church is definitely open on Saturdays and Sundays. If Google says it is closed on weekends it is wrong. Very impressive restored frescoes! No pictures allowed, but in the niche to the right of the alter there is a character at the top (perhaps a straggly-haired counterculture Jesus) whose face almost looks cubist! It could be a strange restoration choice, but the level of abstraction in Orthodox art is really incredible. Highly recommended, and even on a busy weekend, not many people... maybe because of Google's wrong hours.

Located just outside of Pogradec, Albania, the National Park of Drilon is a peaceful and picturesque destination with lush greenery and freshwater springs. The park offers a serene environment with free-roaming animals and clean water. Visitors can enjoy boat rides on the lake, relax in nature, have a picnic, or savor local cuisine at nearby restaurants. Despite its small size of around 1.

A cute shaded park next to spring waters, where many ducks swim around and quack. Some turtles also enjoy the grass. You might see there the famous Ohrid swan family. Multiple restaurants inside, and even one orange arch for Calisthenics lovers!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It’s such an amazing place to visit! There are plenty of ducks around, which makes it really enjoyable and relaxing to watch. You can also take a boat ride by yourself after paying a small fee, which is a great experience. I highly recommend visiting this area, it’s peaceful, fun, and worth the trip!

Drilon Park, often called the National Park of Drilon, is a serene and picturesque oasis located near Pogradec on the shores of Lake Ohrid. It's an ideal escape for pure relaxation and nature lovers. What Makes It Special: Crystal-Clear Springs: The park is famous for its natural, spring-fed lakes and streams, which are exceptionally clear and contribute to the Lake Ohrid watershed. Tranquil Scenery: Majestic willow trees create a peaceful, shady canopy over charming walking paths and small canals, offering picturesque spots for picnics and leisurely strolls. Wildlife: The waters are graced by numerous birds, including swans and ducks, making it a great spot for birdwatching. Activities: Visitors can rent small boats for a peaceful ride on the lakes and enjoy dining at local restaurants that often serve the unique Ohrid trout. Historical Note: The park holds historical significance as it was once a favorite retreat for former Albanian leader Enver Hoxha.

A pleasantly cool walk on a hot day. The shade of trees also cools many animals in the park. Unfortunately, some animals are kept in small cages. However, there is a lot of garbage lying everywhere, on the grass, paths, and in the water. With a little effort, the park could be more beautiful.

Drilon has so special environment with free animals and clean water. In the beginning of summer seisson the weather was so good. Heat is not bothering because of trees. There are also some restaurants you can find local kitchen. Unfortunately park is not big enough for tracking, all area around 1.5 km.

In the heart of the Old City, just across from the striking Church of the Mother of God Peribleptos, lies Icons Gallery Ohrid. This modest yet remarkable museum boasts a collection of some of the world's most renowned and valuable icons dating from the 11th to 19th centuries. Comparable to iconic galleries in Mount Sinai, Mount Athos, and Moscow, these treasures represent exceptional achievements in Byzantine and Slavic icon painting.
Beautiful art during the BC times and looks very majestic for us, Malaysians. We are very proud to explore this place and country. Thank you Ohrid for your beautiful city.

Very small gallery with irregular opening hours -- time published on the door are not followed. It opened an hour later when I was there. No pictures allowed inside Lower floor with frescoes was closed as of May 2025

Small gallery, but it holds some very impressive icons, the oldest nearly 1000 years old. For lovers of religous art a must see. However, small note: opening hours are irregular, sometimes even deviating from the posted schedule. When you get there, there's no garantee that the ticket office is manned, even if the museum is opened. So be warned. You might be disappointed.
Sanne B — Google review
Entrance ia 100 dinars for a two storey display, the one above holding genuine wood icons you are allowed to see at a distance, the floor below holds replicas of old icons made bu different artists in the 20th century. There are no photos allowed on the floor with original icons. The muaeum itself is very small with a tiny set of items. Compared to other places it's not really worth the money. Labels of icons are written in tiny font and far away so anyone with not that good eyesight might have an even worse time

Its a crosroad between art, history and theology. Highly recommend for visiting. Tips: it is located in the courtyard of St. Virgin Mary Perivleptos church and it consists of the ground and -1 level where is public bathroom.

This is nice spiritual place that offers a lot of to see. Incredible icons from 13th century, remarkable masterpieces. Must see!
Ivan Z — Google review
The magnificent collection of religious icons on show in this gallery date from the middle of the 11th to the end of the 19th Century. All of them are vibrant and powerful, none of the photographs of them do them justice as it's difficult to capture the combination of painted elements and fine metal work - they are far and away the most amazing art in Ohrid.

St. Clement of Ohrid is a significant figure in the history of education and language for the Slavic people. As a Bulgarian scholar, he is revered as a patron and played a crucial role in spreading literacy. Along with Naum, another prominent figure, St. Clement was a disciple of the renowned brothers Cyril and Methodius. The statue of St. Clement stands at the end of Old Bazaar street in Ohrid City Park, commemorating his contributions to education and language development.
Saint Climent of Ohrid Sv Kliment Ohridski and Plaoshnik are the same attraction, despite having 2 listings. Plaoshnik was the name of the church founded by Kliment and after his death then everyone started calling the same church Kliment Ohridski, which makes sense. Plaošnik or simply Plaoš is an archaeological site and holy place in Ohrid, 250 meters below Samuil's Fortress . Currently construction works going on there so it is not possible to see inside.

(Translated by Google) ⛪️ St. Clement of Ohrid Statue An essential figure in Ohrid's history and culture. 🧑‍🏫 Who is St. Clement Ohrid? - A 9th-century scholar, priest, and educator - A figure believed to have been deeply involved in the development of the Cyrillic alphabet - Founded the first Slavic school in Ohrid and spread literacy. - He is also known for developing Ohrid into a religious and academic center. 🗿 Meaning of the Statue - The statue's hands symbolize Ohrid's churches and buildings, representing the foundation of scholarship and faith he established in the city. - Its location near Lake Ohrid commemorates his achievements and Ohrid's historical connection. 🕰 What is his connection to the Kirill Brothers, whose statues are located nearby? 1. The Cyril Brothers (Cyril and Methodius) - Active in the early to mid-9th century - Created the first writing system for Slavic languages, the Glagolitic alphabet - Founded the basis for the later Cyrillic alphabet 2. St. Kliment Ohrid - One of the disciples of the Cyril Brothers - Active in the late 9th to early 10th centuries - Devoted himself to the spread and education of the Cyrillic alphabet, primarily in Ohrid - Trained over 3,000 students, making Ohrid a center of learning and religion in the Slavic world 💡 In brief: - The Cyril Brothers → Creators of the alphabet - St. Kliment → Spreader of the alphabet and established a center of learning That's why Ohrid is also known as the "cradle of Slavic culture and education." 🏞 Relationship with the Place Name "Ohrid" 💡 Origin of the Name Ohrid - The most likely explanation is that the name comes from the Old Slavic word "vo hrid" (on the hill), meaning "town on a hill." In fact, Ohrid's old town is spread out on the slope of a hillside by the lake, perfectly fitting the terrain. 🧑‍🏫 Relationship with St. Kliment - Because he was active in the town, he came to be called "St. Kliment of Ohrid." - So the town's name came first, and he himself is remembered in history as "Kliment of Ohrid." A statue of Brother Kirill, St. Kliment's predecessor, stands just a little closer to the lake (third photo). Knowing history makes your trip even more interesting. Now, we're heading to St. Panteleimon Monastery, where St. Kliment was based!

We went on a boat trip around the Ohrid lake, which was very beautiful. The issue we had is that we do not speak Dutch, but we went ahead on the trip as the brochure said "dutch tours with English translation". Big was our surprise to find out the guide only knew a few words in English, mostly some kind of combination between Dutch-German-English. Our savior was Petar, or Peter as we called him, who knew English much much better than the guide and translated to us when he had the time, as he was busy doing his job, which was not translating. So 10/10 for Petra. and for the cook. There was hospitality and everything, but we wish we could have understood something from the guide.

Women's Beach is a charming lakeside spot located by Lake Ohrid. The gray sandy beach offers good swimming conditions and is equipped with sun loungers, al fresco bars, and restaurants. While the ground may feel a bit unusual for about 30 meters, once you swim across it, you'll find proper sandy and clear waters.
Superb beach by Lake Ohrid. The grounds feels a bit “funny” for around 30 meters but that is less of an issue if you just swim across it. Then you will be on proper sandy waters and clear ones at that! There are some options for sunbeds around. Some charge 250 MKD per bed while there is one establishment that gives you 1200 MKD worth of credit if you pay that amount for one of their sunbeds. You can then use the credit to get food and drinks from them. Clear water, dining options, nice people, what is not to like? It is super busy in weekends though.

It offers a unique combination of a sandy beach and a citadel monastery, creating a picturesque setting for sunbathing and swimming in the waters of Ohrid Lake. The beach provides good infrastructure with parking, restaurants, shops, and stunning views of the monastery. Visitors can enjoy the crystal-clear waters and warm sandy shores while taking in the historical significance of this remarkable location.
Beautiful sandy beach with a view of the monastery. Its really quiet and water is crystal clear!

For a 70/80s Yugoslav vibe, relax & chill here at the army beach. Public access, you DO NOT have pay as some misleading gossips suggest. Crystal clear buoyant water. So good for swimming. Sandy Beach. Lovely grassed area adjacent. Put down a towel, snooze, swim, chill. Mich better than the touristed area. A real escape. For the conossiour who might like to experience what a Yugoslav beach was like in the 70/80s. Note - restaurant no longer functioning for the public (July 2025). Cafe on beach front operates 8.00 to 20.00. 50 denar for a macchiato. Such a great spot!

Beautiful and fairly clean/calm. Entrance is paid by a fairly small fee at the gate. The area is in an old camp and you can definitely feel the age of this place, its definitely not kept up too good. There is a sand beach with good views of the monastery tho.

nice family beach with restaurants, bazaar and a very nice vibe
Julian M — Google review
There are too many beach chairs. I assume they're there to cover up all the cigarette buds on the sand. No pets allowed. Bathrooms are clean. Unfortunately there isn't a place to shower or rinse off after being in the lake.
Jap J — Google review
Amazing place where to spend time at Ohrid lake. It’s sand beach with turquoise water. It’s worth visiting it.
Lena M — Google review
The beach was the best so far, not too crowded, relaxing and you even have a café near by to get some coffee.
Gaming C — Google review
Sandy beach, but there is also a grass area right next to it. There is all what you need - parking, restaurants, shops, good infrastrukture, beautifull monastery. Must to be visited when you stay in Ohrid.

Nestled on the shores of Lake Ohrid, St. Naum Monastery is a stunning Byzantine-era church complex that captivates visitors with its breathtaking architecture and rich history. Known for its exquisite iconography, this serene location is also home to charming peacocks that roam freely across the grounds. The views of the lake from the monastery are nothing short of spectacular, making it a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
Amazing nature and we had lots of fun with the small boat ride with a nice captain who explained everything to us. Prices in the coffee bars were too high.

it's a wonderful place you should definitely visit. Very beautiful and well-kept territory, an ancient church on the monastery grounds, boat rides. And beautiful views of the lake
Alex K — Google review
Went there by the end of August '25. That entire compound could be described as THE WORST TOURIST TRAP I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. You get to it by a boat-tour, need to somehow fill up TWO HOURS there - and are then confronted by restaurants with INSANE prices (and lousy service), kitsch "souveniers" (all of which cost waaaaayyyy more than they do, for example, at the Old Town of Ohrid), horde-like groups of screaming tourists and what-not. My advice: avoid this place altogether. Or just sail there (the boat-trip is Great), but then, just wait on the boat, till it is time to FINALLY sail back... in the Hope there ain't no storm coming... 😉

Nestled south of Golden Beach, Gorica Beach is a hidden gem that offers a tranquil escape from the bustling crowds. This picturesque spot boasts crystal-clear waters and stunning natural surroundings, making it an ideal location for relaxation. With its serene atmosphere, especially during weekdays, visitors can enjoy peaceful moments under the sun or in the shade provided by nearby trees.
A nice, secluded beach surrounded by steep rocks. There is a bar serving food, drinks and ice cream. You can rent a beach bed if you wish.

The parking is not free that's near the hotel, but if you go up in the forest there is free. The beds on the beach are 200 denars each. The coffee is 180 denars. The beach throughout the week is not as packed as on the weekends. Very clear water and nice sunsets. Always coming back to it when I'm in town. Recommend to visit from Monday - Thursday if you want some peace and quiet 🏖️

Kole T — Google review
(Translated by Google) If we talk about the Ohrid Summer Festival on the eve of its 58th edition, it is certain that the long-term existence of this manifestation points to the knowledge that it relies on something that really represents a great tradition. This tradition springs from the place given by GOD, from the city of Ohrid - the spiritual capital of Macedonia, the city of antiquity, with the magical blue lake, a city with a long cultural history with the values of ancient civilization, the city with the first all-Slavic university in Europe, the city of Samuel's kingdom and finally the city - representative of the entire Macedonian cultural and spiritual history. And so, not by chance in this city-holy place, the Lord had only to send his noble message, to mark the beginning of something that was to happen here. And it happened back in 1961 on August 4, in the middle of summer. A spark of light happened to shine under the marvelous arches of the beautiful cathedral church of Saint Sophia - part of the monumental ancient values of Ohrid from the 11th century. The flash of that spark marked the birth, i.e. the beginning of the manifestation, which was most likely destined by God, as it was also given to the opera singer Ana Lipša Tofović to mark the beginning of a festival that would later bear the official name OHRID SUMMER.

When visiting Ohrid, one of the must-do activities is taking a boat trip on Ohrid Lake with Labino. The 6-hour cruise offers multiple stops and stunning sights, providing an amazing experience with professional staff. While the lack of included drinks and lifejackets may be downsides, booking a private boat allows for customization and personalized attention from experienced captains like Dimitra or Goran.
The four of us booked a private boat for 6 hours. Exchanged numbers with the captain and wrote what we wanted to do etc. He showed us the best spots, we went swimming in the lake, everything was super cool. If you book with Dimitra, the recommendation goes out. We would do it again! Dimitra is the best captain

An amazing experince with professional staff and wonderful sights. 25€ is a reasonable price for a 6h cruise with several stops. Highly reccomend this experience to anybody who wants to see the lake of Ohrid with all its beauty. I would name a lack of drinks that should had been included in the price and not being offered lifejackets as the only downsides.

Horrible customer experience. My family booked a boat tour with this company and last minute they moved us to a bout with 13 people they promised no more than 10 people and it was not only unsafe they put plastic chairs on the boat. Worst experience if you are looking at booking do not use this company for a boat tour!
Maja M — Google review
Nice boats but was promised a proper guide on our private hire of the boat and the captain said next to nothing. Promised drinks too but there wasn't wasn't enough to go around

Don’t book with this company, not only do they lie they tell you that you’ll be on a boat with max 10 people and then they cram you into a tiny boat with 13 people which mad the trip unsafe and also uncomfortable. If you are visiting don’t book with them pick a different company!!!

We found this frontend service, when Joko approached us, as a great salesman he introduce the tour, the benefits of his service as a boat driver and this and that. The next day we had no time for coffee, as promised, no Joko as a driver, no explanation on the way, closed church and only 2 h at St.Naum. be quick. Plus the driver didnt speak English so noone told us what we actually see.
