The Missouri State Penitentiary, also known as "The Walls," is a historic prison complex in Jefferson City that operated from 1836 to 2004. This Gothic Revival facility housed dangerous criminals and was the site of a notorious riot in 1954 due to overcrowding and violence. Today, it offers tours of its cell blocks, yard, and even the gas chamber.
A group of us, six in all, were joined by 30+ more tourists for an overnight lock-in. We were met by very engaging staff members, and, once the rules were set and buildings discussed, then set free for the remainder of the night. The site is incredible; the history, the atmosphere, the allure of witnessing paranormal experiences. As with typical experiences, paranormal engagement varies widely from person to person, and cannot truly be "reviewed", but should be experienced for yourself. I would love to attend a more private tour in the future, as the presence of large groups of people, in my experience, diminished the haunting mood. Be sure to bring extra battery packs, flashlights, and other gear! Leave the sleeping bags at home, you won't be sleeping here.
Elmer O — Google review
Four of us booked a three-hour tour and it was one of the highlights of our weekend. We ended up being part of a group of about thirty guests. The place is creepy and spooky, and we enjoyed hearing some firsthand and secondhand stories about paranormal events as well as some history of the prison and its inmates. During our tour, we had (what could be argued were) some activity, but nothing definitive. It made for a more exciting visit, for sure.
Jeff B — Google review
Drove 5.5 hours from Nebraska to visit! We went for the 3 hour ghost hunt on Thursday & decided we should go on the History tour on Friday morning. I enjoyed both of them so much & had so much fun. The only thing is I wished I would have done the history tour before the ghost tour! So I would have had more of an understanding of the area! The guides & staff are awesome, super helpful, and full of knowledge about this prison. With the future of this place being unknown I’m so glad we took the time to come visit!
Robyn T — Google review
The history of this place is phenomenal. They offer prison tours, ghost tours, and overnight haunted tours. Our tour guide was Lee, who I highly recommend, because Lee was an actual prison guard that worked there for many years. Lee started working there in the 1980's. He worked there until they closed in 2004, then worked at the new prison for a few more years before retiring. If you do a tour here, ask for Lee. He is very knowledgeable. You can even go inside the actual gas chamber that was in use for many years there. I am so glad I went on this tour. Thank you Lee!
MotorCityMech — Google review
The buildings are incredible. The tour and stories are through and captivating. Our guide, Daniel, knew so much and made sure we got the best photo opportunities, plenty of time to ghost hunt, and definitely shared every story he had. Absolutely coming back for another tour!
Lindsey B — Google review
Highly recommend the history-based tours of this very interesting and atmospheric place. Having taken two tours (with different guides), can also say it’s a totally different experience each time. There’s also paranormal/ghost hunt tours, if that’s your kind of thing.
Charlotte K — Google review
This place is so interesting! I only regret doing the shorter tour! Our tour guide was very informative and the fact that he used to work at the prison before it closed really added to the tour! I wish we had more time to explore as the 2 hours went by so fast. I really hope they don’t tear this place down we would love to come back. Buy your tickets in advance.

State pen was a great visit . Our guides Jim and Dave were very knowledgeable and made it very interesting. I’m thankful the state has not removed it and put in a parking lot . So much history there, the architecture and people.

The Missouri State Capitol, completed in 1917, is a historic government building located near the river in Jefferson City. The campus features water fountains, sculptures, and floral gardens, including the Lewis and Clark Trailhead Plaza honoring the famous explorers. As the seat of government for Missouri, it offers tours to visitors who can explore its neoclassical design and intricate details. The building's historical significance and role in governance make it a must-visit for those interested in politics or architecture.
Amazing capitol and grounds. It is very easy to find parking right by the building. The building itself is beautiful. There is also a museum about Missouri inside that is free and very informative. It's one of the best Capitols I have been to in the US.
Dennis L — Google review
We had a great experience visiting the Missouri State Capitol. You can either book a free guided tour in advance or explore on your own. Both options are completely free! We went on a Saturday morning in June right when it opened, and surprisingly, we were the only ones there. There are some free parking spots right in front, which made things super convenient. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes because there are four floors to explore, including a full museum on the first floor with exhibits covering Missouri’s rich history, government, and culture. The architecture is stunning, and every floor has something worth seeing. Whether you’re a history buff, traveling with family, or just passing through Jefferson City, the Capitol is definitely a must-visit.
Ebony N — Google review
I absolutely loved the capital building. I think it's awesome you can walk around on your own and explore. There are some areas restricted but free excess for the most part. The art and history in the building really makes it a must see.
Justin B — Google review
Lovely experience, I had the privilege of meeting several representatives and hosting a house style debate through their facility . I captured some gorgeous photos of the capitol that helped capture the atmosphere within the capitol. (With my spooky and liminal touch of course)
Arrow P — Google review
Such a beautiful property! This Capitol is massive. The beauty of the building inside is phenomenal. I love to tour state capital buildings and this one does not disappoint. Take some time out of your day and check this out. You will not regret it.
Nicholas N — Google review
Beautiful capitol building inside and out. When you walk around the grounds, the grass is beautiful and manicured even on 100 degree days. There's parking in front and back of the capitol. It is truly a beautiful building.
Steve M — Google review
Great place for adults or children to visit our history. Inside and out of the building. I'm hoping they will dedicate a little time to maintain the outside also. Not enough to deduct a point. Just an observation :)

I had an extra day to stay in Columbia, and decided to visit the Missouri State Capital. I learned SO MUCH about the history of the state and was very impressed with the beauty of the building. If you are ever near Jefferson City, MO, a trip to the State Capital is well worth your time!!

Runge Nature Center, located in Jefferson City, Missouri, offers a variety of indoor exhibits and outdoor activities. Visitors can explore diverse nature trails, observe wildlife and birds, and even see giant sequoia trees. The center features an aquarium and an indoor wildlife viewing area where exotic animals can be observed. Additionally, there is a nature library and gift shop on-site. With 2.
Beautiful place to hike. Even in winter when nothing is blooming it was an enjoyable and peaceful nature stroll. Good elevation gain on the trail too to get a little exercise. Recommended.
FFKDTP1 — Google review
I like this outdoor treasure that's nestled just a few minutes from our Missouri Capitol. Currently (Spring 2025) sees Runge under construction with improvements happening at the visitor center/indoor section as well as outdoor, but still very much functional and fun! About 2 miles of well maintained, clean, beautiful trails weave through quiet grassland, fields of seasonal wildflowers, and foresty areas with a variety of aged trees. On the visit where these pictures were taken, March 2025, the flowers were not yet in bloom, but the birds were already sweetly singing. Visit in Summer for gorgeous wildflowers beside the trails. A very nice outdoor escape inside of a bustling city, and it's a shame part of the trail borders a neighborhood, but those residents keep their homes looking very nice, it just reduces the 'out in nature' experience. A part I relish is the old fire tower lookout. Historical signs tell the story of the tower and the husband and wife who operated it many years. People can climb the steps for a bird's-eye-view of this area, but the tower building at the top is locked. Come enjoy a very nice getaway in Jeff City at Runge. Due to work hours, I have never been inside the building, but it looks like a fun, educational opportunity and I took a picture during renovation where I saw taxidermy animals and displays along with things to read. Thankfully, while the inside closes by 5pm, trails are accessible until 8pm. There's even a shorter wheelchair accessible trail right off the parking lot that offers nice features to read and view Missouri's natural gems.
Brian S — Google review
Beautiful views and scenery. Plenty of unique trails to choose from as well with varied distances. the firewatcher tower offers a great overlook of the nature center. the indoor area is a great museum type attraction that has plenty of interactivity. Trails are mostly paved so walking after rain is no trouble.
Max P — Google review
I loved exploring the trails at Runge Conservation Nature Center! The paths are well-maintained and offer a peaceful escape into nature right near Jefferson City. There’s a great variety of plants and wildlife to see, and the trail signs make it easy to learn about the local ecosystem. It’s perfect for hiking, birdwatching, or just a relaxing walk. Family-friendly and educational — a hidden gem for anyone who enjoys the outdoors!
Elizabeth D — Google review
I didn't realize it, but I had been here before with the kids in 2003, and it still impresses. Four of us adults enjoyed the outdoor trails, then spent an unexpected amount of time in the Nature Center. It is so informational, includes live animals and taxidermy versions, and there was a quilt exhibit at the time, too. This is an excellent place to bring children, but the four of us enjoyed exploring as well.
Jeff B — Google review
Great place! It’s free but a lot to do for kids 1-5. Turtles to look at, a couple fish, puppets, a ‘tree house.’ My kid loved it. Shout out to the conservation lady who helped reinforce the lesson of ‘don’t eat things you find outside’ when I had my child ask her if a fruit found outside was edible, she told my child what it was and what animals like to eat it and reinforced ‘Always ask an expert!’ Although it was free, it was so worth it that I bought something from the gift shop to support them.
Emily R — Google review
It was very pretty. We were unable to go in because it was a Sunday and they are closed on Sundays.
GryffindorJedi — Google review
Being so accessible for everyone living in Jeff City makes this a must visit (multiple times) for any resident and great side stop for anyone passing through or living in the nearby area. The walking trails are well kept and a mix of single track, gravel, wood chip, and boardwalk. There's also a creek when the water is running, a diversity of fields and canopy, leading to an abundance of blooms, and a fire tower that you can go up for amazing panoramic views. I highly recommend it for trail running, but of course walking is fine too. There are ample public facilities and of course the highly educational nature center itself!

Nestled within the National Guard's training center, the Museum of Missouri Military History is a treasure trove for history enthusiasts and curious travelers alike. This captivating museum takes you on a journey through time, showcasing Missouri's rich military heritage from the Revolutionary War era to contemporary conflicts. As you approach, you'll be greeted by an impressive display of helicopters, tanks, and airplanes that set the stage for your visit.
Absolutely beautiful museum that not only shares so many artifacts but also tells the story with each display. I was very fortunate to have met Charles, the museum director while visiting. He and his staff have brought history to life!!!!! I highly recommend
David B — Google review
We visited the Museum of Missouri Military History on a Saturday morning in June, right when it opened. There were only about 8 people there, so we had plenty of space to explore and take our time checking out the tanks, planes, and exhibits. The museum is located on the Missouri national guard base, so once you cross the railroad tracks, just continue straight until you reach a booth. Let them know you’re there for the museum. They’ll check your driver’s license and wave you through. There’s a lot to see packed into a smaller space: military uniforms, weapons, historical displays, and even a helicopter that flew in the Vietnam War, complete with patched bullet holes. We were able to go inside one of the tanks, which was really cool! The carrier plane wasn’t open because it was too hot. When it’s 90+ degrees, the inside becomes like an oven and it’s unsafe for people to go in. So if you want that part of the experience, try going on a cooler day. It takes about an hour to fully explore everything, and it’s definitely a case of quality over quantity. There’s plenty of free parking, and the whole museum is completely free! It’s a great stop for history buffs, reluctant spouses who end up loving it, and curious kids alike.
Ebony N — Google review
You have to go on base through the gate. Your maid will lead you in a circle to a closed area. This museum gives a unique local spin on every military action since the Mexican American war. Great artifacts. They have a C-130 anda tank that you can go in.
Ashley T — Google review
Free access, you need to access the National Guard (need ID) and amazing collection of tanks and military material (WW1, 2 and Vietnam wars) super recommended!! Reserve about 1:30h to see the entire collection.
Alan F — Google review
Great high quality exhibits! Very interesting. Perfect way to spend a couple of hours. It was super hot the day we visited so having the A/C in the in-door exhibits along on with the bigger out-door ones worked out perfectly. It is inside the National Guard Base so you do have to go through security at the guard station but they were very friendly and helpful.
John S — Google review
It’s hard to rate a free museum badly, especially when it’s a good one. As said above, this is a free museum, you just gotta show your id since it’s on a military base. There are tons of military vehicles outside. You can even go inside a plane. It features both an outside and inside exhibit
Jacob D — Google review
A small but fascinating museum with an excellent collection of uniforms, vehicles, and historical artifacts showcasing Missouri’s role in various conflicts. The staff is friendly, and you can feel their passion in every display. Perfect for military history enthusiasts or anyone looking to learn more about local contributions. Definitely worth a visit!
Ivana P — Google review
The Museum of Missouri Military History is an informative and well-organized place that highlights the contributions of Missouri’s service members throughout history. The exhibits include authentic military artifacts, vehicles, and detailed displays that offer a meaningful look into the past. It’s a respectful and educational experience suitable for all ages, especially for those interested in military history.

Took my family for a walk between the capitol building and over to the park on the island on the other side of the landing & when we were coming back my kids took off running up the bridge to see the train go under them. All of them absolutely loved it!

We walked from Madison's Cafe past the governor's mansion to the Bicentennial Bridge and down to the park. We tried out the rope hammocks but they weren't too comfortable. Landscaping is still in progress, but the concrete path around the park next to the river is very peaceful. Views of the sunset are great. We played a game of chess on the outdoor giant chess board in the park past sunset, and appreciated the lighting along the path and near the chessboard. Some of the pieces are damaged but all the pieces are still there. Highly recommend a stroll in this delightful addition to the state Capitol area. We even had a state representative offer to take our my husband's and my photo.

Closed for the season but you can walk the property and view the buildings.

An immense amount of history to enjoy; very well preserved. The Lohman Building is open Tuesday--Saturday from 10am--4pm. Inside you'll find an 1850s general store and warehouse. The Union Hotel holds the Elizabeth Rozier Galley with changing exhibits that explore Missouri's history, art and culture. Be sure to explore the rest of the Capitol Complex. Definitely worth the trip.

This place is ok. There isn't much to it. You get to watch a 20-30 min. video about the history of the capital and the capitol building. Other than that, there is a small gift shop and a few other things about the history of the building.

Situated in Jefferson City, this tranquil location boasts well-maintained gardens and a family-friendly atmosphere. The mansion provides an immersive experience with knowledgeable guides dressed in period attire, sharing captivating stories and insights about each room.
This is really a review of the outside garden area. The gardens were absolutely beautiful and apparently a popular place for family photos, weddings and just general sightseeing. We were in the area for a wedding and there was another group ready to take pictures just as soon as we left. There were plenty of available parking. This is a perfect place to get a nice picture of the Capitol building.

This Mansion is very historic and knowing the history behind it makes it all the more interesting. Located just a quick walk from the Capitol Building so you can do both in the same day. They have recently done some work to the grounds so hopefully there is no snow when you are there so you can enjoy the entire landscape. Fun fact the governor is not home very much 🤣

My family and I toured the governors mansion over spring break. Our guides were Debbie and Jeannine (apologies if the spelling is wrong!). These women made our experience at the mansion spectacular! They were so welcoming, carefree, easy going and fun. We love to learn about history and it doesn’t have to be all stiff and uptight when it’s being taught. These ladies had great stories to tell about the history of the house and had fun with us, as well. I absolutely recommend touring this beautiful bit of state history and I hope you have these ladies take you around to tell it to you!

Wonderful small theater with local performances. The production of Momma Mia (2019) was great quality and I look forward to more shows there. Ticket prices are very responsible for the quality of programming as well. The theater is in an easy to access area of town directly off the highway.

Beautiful park. Peaceful and beautiful escape from the city. I went there daily for five weeks for a break while I was caring for my elderly parent. I called it my sunshine time. I love this park and will be back.

The woods at Binder Park are lovely, and the trails are excellent for walking, running, or biking. There are multiple easy trails, and they wind for miles through the trees. The trails are popular for bikers, so if you are on foot, keep an eye out!

Great trails for a morning walk with my dog. The lake is very pretty.

The pictures on the website shows your Site look like your far away from the other site around you, but your closer. Nothing was clean. The bathroom and showers are extremely old and not clean. Spiders and rust everywhere. I noticed people were using filters on their water hoses. And you better bring a long hose since your sharing the water with another site and the water is not close. Do not use your GPS to locate the park unless your actually in Jefferson City. It's better to come off Hwy 50. We liked the Host, he was nice and it was very quiet. Has a lot of amenities around it if your looking to fish etc..No boating..

The park is very spacious with a beautiful lake and picnic areas. Lots of activities for the family and adequate parking areas.

Its a nice place. But, roads are terribly narrow. Had several close calls with people coming around corners in the middle of the road. So drive carefully because there isn't a shoulder on much of it. The fishing was poor. The lake was low and pretty dirty. A mother nature thing, I would presume.

We had a Family/Friends outdoor event. This was the only place Park and Rec had available, and let me tell you, it was the perfect place! We had over 50 people to show up, and everyone had a great time. There is plenty of room for the children to run around, nice size BBQ pit! Bathrooms right near the pavilion. Reasonably priced.

Central Dairy Ice Cream Parlor on Madison Street in Jefferson City is a must-visit for families and ice cream enthusiasts. With a wide variety of flavors including fudge ripple, peach, strawberry cheesecake, and eggnog, as well as healthier frozen yogurts, there's something for everyone. This popular spot can get quite busy during sunny days due to its immense popularity.
The ice-cream was so good. Very fresh and so delicious. Has good a good parking lot and street parking as well. So many delicious flavors. Booth seating available. Best ice-cream in Missouri. Definitely going back. Very fair prices. I think mine was five dollars for a cup of three flavors. Cones also available. Friendly Staff. Looking for any excuse to go back.
Daniel W — Google review
One of the popular local attractions in Jefferson city. Ice creams were really cheap for the quality. Good value for money. In terms of taste, I would say they are not the tastiest I have eaten, but very good for what you pay. The location is good. It is crowded, I guess because of its popularity.
Praghalathan K — Google review
One of my favorite stops when traveling home to Jefferson City! The ice cream treats are top notch and very reasonably priced. There is a vast selection of sundaes, cones, banana splits to keep any ice cream lover very happy! My family has been coming here for many years and it's always delicious. It can get busy in the afternoons so you may need to wait in line, but it's oh-so-worth the wait. You will not be disappointed!

Nostalgia at its finest. Get a great treat for the family in the heart of the Midwest. Over 40 flavors of ice cream, shakes, sundaes and more. Priced right as to not break the bank for a refreshing family treat.

Stopping here is a simple pleasure that adds a touch of local charm to your visit.

Central Dairy is a local favorite for good reason! Their ice cream is deliciously creamy and comes in so many classic and seasonal flavors. The service is friendly and quick, making it a perfect spot to cool off on a warm day. The employees are really nice. Unclean and dirty. The counters where you waited for purchase had melted ice cream. Ordered two vanilla malts. The malt machine had chocolate ice cream splattered against the front and back. A collection of towels were piled up in the area where the malt cup say. The girls who waited did not wear hair nets. One had long hair which was toes back but as she dipped deep to scoop the ice cream her hair touched the sides of the ice cream container. The girl who served us was not friendly. Did not even say thank you. The malt was OK. Way too thick. Had to let it sit for an hr before I could enjoy it. Very crowded so I suppose the locals are not used to anything else. My problem was how unclean the place was.

Prison Brews in Jefferson City is a nostalgic spot with its own house brews, American comfort food, and bocce in a laid-back, jail-themed atmosphere. It's situated in the city's historic district and offers a unique experience for those seeking great beer and creative twists on classic drinks. The establishment aims to stand out by serving top-notch beverages while providing an unconventional setting for patrons to enjoy their time.
Overall my family and I have experienced eating a prison bruise while we were in Jefferson City was pretty cool I ordered the supreme pizza with duck wontons and Buffalo to start with. The duck wontons were not very impressive and the buffalo dip was more forward on cream cheese and sour cream then I would have preferred. I also ordered the supreme pizza and my daughter ordered the barbecue brisket pizza they forgot to put the barbecue sauce on her pizza so it had to come out on the side but both pizzas were really delicious. Overall my experience here was quite fantastic and I really encouraged and you when it comes down to grab a flight and try their local bruise that brown they have is some kind of delicious. Overall very happy just wish our server would have even taken the time to ask him if he wanted dessert before putting the check on the table
Justin B — Google review
Things were a little slow this night we stopped. To be fair they had a large table of about 20. The tenderloin sandwich was really good in my opinion. The kids grill cheese though was really heavy and greasy. Daughter was not a fan. My wofe got the chicken Philly and the special sauce is a pesto blend.... not really what we thought it would be. The buffalo chicken dip had good flavor. But was made with whipped cream cheese. That made it really lite and fluffy. Again. Just not our thing. We will try again and try the burgers or pizza.
Jesse W — Google review
Everything was absolutely delicious. My aunt had a very awkward visit because 1 of the owners stood in the back and stared at her the entire time while she had her meal! That may be something he does, but he made her very uncomfortable!
Sonya T — Google review
This is one of the most unique brewery concepts I've seen. It plays well with the neighboring and now closed down Missouri State Penitentiary. The concept inside is fun and gives it a unique vibe different from other breweries. Beers were good. Food was decent.
Andrew S — Google review
I have always given good food reviews but I just can’t this time. Prison burger was tasteless and chewy. Breading on pork tenderloin sandwich was salty and greasy. Fries and homemade chips were overcooked, salty, and greasy.
Donna W — Google review
I would rate the pizza here as the worst I've ever eaten in my entire life. It should be given a life sentence with no parole. Our BBQ pizza had multiple huge globs of fat on it and raw dough in the middle. The service was also terrible. I would rather serve a night in the slammer than eat here again.
Jason C — Google review
We went here for dessert because there they seemed to have the best menu within walking distance of where we stayed, near the state penitentiary tours. We got the rootbeer float, "world's best chocolate cake" and cheesecake flights. Of the 4 people that ordered cake, everyone said it wasn't great, it was dry and only 1 person finished it, and they had ordered ice cream with it. Not recommended. We got 3 cheesecake flights and they weren't bad. The cherry and blueberry shooters were good but the other 2 were not cheesecake at all. I thought they weren't bad but 1 person thought the peanut butter was too rich. My nephew got the rootbeer float and wasn't happy. This was his 2nd rootbeer float of the day so he had something recent to compare it to. The other one came from Izzy's Burgers and Shakes on High street. We did get wings and chicken noodle soup to go and I was told that both were really good. The atmosphere was really fun and the service was good. I would go here again for food but definitely not for dessert.
Holly K — Google review
We have been to Prison Brews many times and were satisfied with the service. However, this time was not the case. It was a Friday night around 5:45 pm when we arrived. First of all we walk in the restaurant and were asked if a table was ok because thats all they had open. We walked in there were two booths open but we were not seated at a booth. We were seated at a four top between two very large parties of 15+ people. We should of left then as that was an indication of what our service would be like. Not one minute after we were seated another group was seated at the booth. They were given drinks before a waiter even got to us. We sat there at least 15 minutes before waiter took our drink order. Another group came in 20 minutes after us and got their drinks and food before us. We waited at least 30 min for appetizer then 20 minutes for our food. There were 3 us and only 2 of us got our food. I had to wait an extra 15 more minutes for my food. My family was done with their meal before I got mine. Forget about refills of our beverages. The chicken philly sandwich I ordered was not what I thought it was going to be. It had pesto sauce on it and was not to my liking. We spent at least an hour and a half + here. I would say this was the worst service we have had at a restaurant in Jefferson City in along time. Very disappointed.

Carnahan Memorial Garden is a stunning addition to the Capitol Complex, located near the historic Governors Mansion in Missouri. The garden features a beautiful display of flowers, lakes, trees, and scenic paths that make it an ideal spot for visitors during spring and summer. Named in honor of Governor Carnahan's contributions, this picturesque garden offers a serene setting for leisurely strolls and photo opportunities.
My brother and I visited the site on November 13th, 2023. We are history buff and policy nerds, so we are quite familiar with Gov. Carnahan even though we are from Connecticut. While driving across Missouri, we made a brief detour to see the bust of the governor. It's neat and honors him well. Of note, someone put a beanie on it...maybe to keep him warm? Parking was a bit of an adventure; we had to park in front of a parking meter and inserted two dimes for 12 minutes of parking. In total, we probably spent less than 10 minutes at the garden.

Nice gardens, I have to say, don’t make a trip solely for this, as it is just a small location, most of the fun will be found outside of it, but for what it is, a garden, it is beautiful and well put together.

Located adjacent to the Capitol Complex, this garden has flowers, pools and walkways. It is commonly used for graduation photographs, according to my friend who brought us here. And yes, a few folks were taking pictures in caps and gowns today. After the death of Governor Carnahan, the Garden was renamed as a memorial to his work. There is street parking and the garden can be reserved through the Missouri Office of Administration.

We took the 2 hour tour and the guide did an awesome job. He actually worked there prior to when it was closed. Each building we went to was more interesting than the one before. But the ultimate was to sit in the actual gas chamber where 40 people were executed. What a powerful experience.

We enjoyed our tour and would definitely do it again. Kathy led our tour and was very knowledgeable. Lilly was our cat herder and kept everyone together. The buildings are a piece of history. It is sad that 2 of the buildings are closed due to tornado damage, but the 2 that are open huge. I would recommend the 3 hour tour and buy your souvenirs before the tour! They didn't tell us that they gift shop would not be open when we got done and were bummed to not get a souvenir.

Originally built to be the warden’s mansion, this museum is set up in the basement of this gorgeous home. Admission is included in the price of your tour of the prison or sold separately. It’s an amazing collection of memorabilia of historical events which occurred in the prison, but also display incredible pieces built, drawn, or otherwise crafted by the convicts housed by the prison.

I try to be fair when I'm doing reviews on places, I honestly don't know how to feel about this ghost tour we did from 11pm-2am. For one they only allow you access to three of the buildings. I honestly felt like there was entirely way to many people in the group. They said the best way to have a ghost encounter was to sit in total dark and silence. Well with 15-20 people in the group you weren't able to sit in pitch black nor have total silence. Usually you can feel when there is a presence around you, I didn't get that feeling at all. Second of all it was supposed to be a 3 hour ghost hunt. They told us to show up a 30 minutes early, yet they didn't do anything In that time. Instead they took the three hours we had to hunt and wasted time walking us to each building before turning us loose on our own. Which only gave us a little over an 1.45 to walk around. I actually got bored because nothing was happening. I'm not saying it's not haunted but I certainly didn't get that feeling that it was. I felt like $150 was a waste of money for 3 adults. I'm saying CAP!!

With a focus on safety and convenience, Scuba Adventure is described as the only true one-stop shop for all scuba needs. Customers appreciate the in-stock inventory and competitive prices.
Chris is extremely personable and professional. My girlfriend and I got scuba certified with him. There was a miscommunication on when we were meeting up and instead of rescheduling, Chris dropped what he was doing elsewhere and met up with us immediately. Getting scuba certified can be intimidating, but Chris made it extremely comfortable and accessible. He's also a good time to be around, which made the lessons that much more enjoyable. Can't say enough great things about him and the company. His drive and motivation is clearly centered around getting people into and excited about diving. He's also able to provide a plethora of information and resources about diving outside of Missouri. 10/10!

Took 2 of my grandsons there for the “discover SCUBA” experience. The whole experience from initial contact to the actual class. The owner, Chris, made it an experience filled with interesting information and loads of fun for the boys (aged 14 and 15), but consistently checked on me to make sure I was doing fine, as well. He even took pictures for us when my camera wouldn’t work right. I highly recommend the experience, even if you never decide to certify. The price was reasonable — he spent nearly 5 hours with us — and we couldn’t have had a better time!

Turkey Creek Golf Center offers a delightful experience for visitors. The Par 3 course is highly enjoyable, and the mini-golf provides a fun-filled activity for all. The reasonable prices make it accessible to many, and the quality of drinks adds to the overall experience. Whether you're into golf or just looking for some leisurely entertainment, Turkey Creek has something to offer for everyone.
Turkey Creek was amazing. All though this guy in a black shirt started cussing at me whenever I was about to hit the ball was absolutely crazy. Expect that, an absolute gorgeous place to go.
Ty C — Google review
While they do have a decent mini golf course, they're lacking a great deal in customer service. While I understand they may have minimal competition when it ordering high school letterman patches, I don't think that excuses the poor quality of service. I ordered patches back in the beginning of September and was told up to 8 weeks. It's well past that time, and over sevral calls to the place, I have yet to be able to get in touch with anyone who knows anything about where the patches are. The one person, older gentleman that I have spoke with several times is a smart ass and very unhelpful. It's apparent however, that he's been allowed to treat customers that way as with each call in my trying to remedy the dilemma have been unsuccessful. I have tried numerous times to get in touch with the owner and/ or management and have been unsuccessful. If I hadn't already paid the almost 200 dollars for the patches, I would go some where else. In the future, I feel it would best to do so, even if the price would be higher then these guys and I will also recommend others go to someone else as well. To me good customer service speaks a great deal more then a small town business that continues to elude customer happiness.

The three of us came to play a mini golf the girl at the counter was super sweet, but the mini Golf was very disappointing. Needs a major maintenance to the holes. And the course itself trash everywhere the water holes were full of mucky. Yucky water and the course needed to be leaf blowed and cleaned the holders were broken.Couldn't even tell what hole you're on, because the numbers are broken. The fountain was not on, it's probably broken.

Capitol City Cinema is a charming non-profit movie theater located in a historic downtown building. The venue offers comfortable seating and a well-stocked concession stand, creating a cozy home theater atmosphere with its digital projector. In addition to screening classic and vintage movies on Wednesday nights, the cinema hosts various film-related events and is an integral part of the downtown community. Visitors can also enjoy the connected CORK & Board establishment for added entertainment.
It took me too long to visit this place. It's fantastic! Everything about it feels like a unique movie experience. I thought the seats were fantastic, allowing people to lounge with freedom. The small theater room size seemed ideal for screen size and intimacy, so the view was good. I'll definitely be returning for more films.
JC E — Google review
Such wonderful people run this theater! This is a nicely renovated historic downtown building with vintage atmosphere. Extremely comfortable seats. The venue is kind of like a large but cozy home theater setup with digital projector. In 2021, they are playing a classic or vintage movie every Wednesday night at 6:30 pm. I recommend a membership. CORK & Board is connected to the Capitol City Cinema. If you order food and/or drinks, you can take it into the theater while watching a movie (if you purchased tickets).

I’ve been there twice and both events were amazing! The atmosphere is intimate, but crazy, in a good way, at the Drag shows! Good energy from the entertainers and the crowds—no judgment! I would definitely recommend a night out that involves attending one of their events or a private event. I’m on the lookout for the show! Join me and let’s have some fun!!!

This place is absolutely amazing! It is one of my favorite places in Jefferson City. If you want a break from all the usually noise and you want to have a little class and live in your busy life, kick back and buy yourself a ticket at this theater. Grab a bowl of Rosemary popcorn, a fabulous appetizer and a class glass of wine. The place is amazingly decorated so the atmosphere is just another great part of the package. Great job! My hat is off to the owners. Thanks so MUCH for bringing art and diversity to little ole Jeff Town. Love love love!!

Love this little place. Old and unique movies. Nice atmosphere and seating. Can get alcohol and food at Capitol City Cork next door and bring it over. Fund raiser drag shows that are a blast. A unique local business.
Sarah G — Google review
We all know the following but it's worth repeating. If the movie start time is listed as 7 p.m. (for example), that's clearly not true. That's when 20 minutes of commercials begins. Yes, you paid to see the movie and have to sit through a bunch of ads. Then comes 15 minutes of previews. Those can be fun but remember, you can watch all of those online at your convenience. So the movie absolutely will not start before 7:35. But go ahead and arrive at 7:30 if you're worried about getting a good seat. What would it take to get more stars from me? Give me the real start time of the feature.
Steve M — Google review
Small, clean and comfortable theatre. Cork next door shares access, making it easy to go from eating to the show. Worth it.

Just three blocks from the Capitol Building, this inviting tavern offers a warm ambiance where you can unwind with friends and family. Our local home town "Cheers". The staff was friendly, and Katie is super on top of our service. The food is amazing every time. The locals fill the place with jovial banter. If you need a little respite from your droning life this is the place to be. With a warm cozy bar and in the summer visit the beautiful outside seating. The decor is old town amazing. Come on over to Paddy Malone's it will not disappoint!!

We absolutely love Paddy Malone's! We must've had a stroke of Irish luck, landing a parking spot right outside the quiet little building. The Guinness was spot on—'a properly poured pint!' as it should be. The Irish coffee was lovely, too. kI'd been dying for some good fish and chips, and these ones hit the spot. We also gave the Italian potato soup a go—proper hearty and filling. If you're ever in Jefferson City, this place is a must-visit!

Paddy’s is literally the best. I’ve lived in a lot of different places but we just moved to Jeff City. I feel like I’ve been searching for the best Irish bar for a looooong time and I’ve finally found it in Paddy’s. The food is amazing and authentic and I definitely think about those mushy peas atleast once a day. The atmosphere is cozy and warm inside and out. Don’t forget your dog because the patio is heated and pet friendly. The crew they have there is friendly, patient and kind. Happy to say I’ve finally found my local haunt.

Great atmosphere. Perfect decor. Nice little Irish pub here. Onion rings and fries come in huge portions. 16 beers on drought, but there's only Guinness for me. Very good experience with the imagery and the popcorn 🍿 was the best I've ever had hand's down my movie theater experience and I love how the owner always responds with positive feedback. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I have three stars as it’s a good movie theater and they have great deals with the popcorn. However it’s the first time in 3 years and I must say the seats are disgusting. I really wish the would get new seating. The floors are also very worn down. Other than that it’s a great theater. Also please tell the kids working that standing around chatting with friends isn’t a good to when there is lines. The bathroom trash was so full you couldn’t even push down the tissues bc it was overflowing so bad. I was kinda embarrassed to post photos due to the seats.
Wesley B — Google review
I recently visited this establishment and was quite disappointed with the service I received. The staff member I encountered was exceptionally rude, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. Despite my intention to make a purchase, I felt unwelcome and almost as if I was being discouraged from spending my money there. The interaction was strange and off-putting, making me question whether I would ever want to return. She was so exctremly tude to everyone coming into the building i would like to see her fired.
Gabriella H — Google review
Went to see Sinners. The movie is freaking awesome! A must-see, the theater not so much. It's dated, and the seats need lots of attention. The head rest are worn. To be the only theater in town, they are not putting the money back into the business. A+ for the movie only, and 2 stars for theater!
Leslie B — Google review
The two ladies working tonight (one a young blonde and the other an older brunette) could do with a lesson on respect. Me and my three friends came in to watch How to Train Your Dragon and me and my one friend had a brief “fight” over who was going to pay, but was handled quickly. I spaced on the name for the movie when trying to say how many tickets I’d need for it, and the brunette said “she doesn’t even know which movie it is” while cleaning the counter. Like hello? That was extremely rude. When we walked in the lobby was completely empty, and the exchange was short, yet the staff acted as if we’d totally ruined their night by coming in. When I went to pay I used a $100 bill and she (the blonde) sighed and rolled her eyes. I didn’t realize that simply doing your job would be too much to ask for.
Madalynn S — Google review
Hark! I did venture forth to this establishment, which they do call a "moving picture house," and found myself grievously disappointed. The very air within was thick with a most unseemly stench, not unlike a privy unemptied for a fortnight. And the seats, by my troth, were so stiff and unyielding that my very bones did ache as if I had been tossed from a carriage. Furthermore, the "picture" itself was but a fleeting shadow, at times so dim I scarce could discern the figures upon the screen, and at others so blurred as to give one a headache of the most fearsome sort. The rumblings and clatter that issued from the machinery were quite enough to drown out any sense of the dialogue, leaving one to guess at the very meaning of the spectacle. And as for the "refreshments" – a paltry offering of burnt popcorn and a watery beverage, both priced as if they were imports from the Indies! I declare, I would sooner spend my pence on a proper pint of ale at the tavern and listen to a minstrel play, for at least then my ears and purse would not suffer such indignities. A pox upon this place! Avoid it, good sirs and madams, as you would the plague.
Bentley M — Google review
Ended up being pretty disappointed after trying to watch Paranorman in 3D. The picture was terrible, the movie was NOT 3D and due to the blurry imagery it made it impossible to keep watching (yes we ALL had our glasses on). At first I thought that Laika did a bad job converting it to 3D. Halfway through the movie I spoke to the kids working behind the counter. They sent someone into the projector room to fix it and the rest of the movie was in 3D. But to pay $74 on tickets to only get half the experience because of technical difficulties?!
Krystal P — Google review

Ellis-Porter Riverside Park is a vibrant 60-acre oasis that caters to sports enthusiasts and families alike. With its well-maintained softball fields, golf courses, basketball courts, and tennis facilities, it’s the perfect spot for active individuals. Families can enjoy picnics at the scenic Runge Nature Centre or let their kids explore the expansive playground equipped with modern equipment and safety features like padded ground surfaces.
I visited the park specifically to walk the AllTrails "Ellis Porter Park Greenway Trail". It's a nice trail that's 1/2 paved and 1/2 gravel + 1/2 through wooded area and 1/2 through a combo government/residential area + part of the Ellis-Porter Park. Surprisingly, it wasn't buggy, and there are bathrooms at the park shelter within sight of the trail's starting point, which is helpful. If I lived in the area, I'd return.

Great venue. The Amphitheater offers close parking, a cozy environment for a concert.
Carla F — Google review
We were in town and wanted to go for a walk. I picked this place because Maps said it was near the river. I didn't see any trails near the river but I saw the river at one point. Meandering paved paths take you from bright sun to shaded areas for relief. There are a few hills that definitely give your calves a slight burn going up. The park is very well maintained as far as the grass. However, the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. At 1 picnic table we saw cans of soup left behind. Then, on the other side of the park, on a bench, were 2 steaks either cooked and left or cooked by the sun! Either way, that's disgusting. There was a bottle of BBQ sauce in the grass so maybe somebody was abducted by aliens JUST as they were about to eat? We'll never know. Those picnic tables have an extra shelf up above and have little roofs for protection... genius. It's a shame people can't pick up after themselves and appreciate what the City has provided for them.... instead of apartments or concrete, there's nature!

Been to this rink a couple of times. It is a nice rink with large locker rooms and a lot of spectator space. I did the scoresheet two games and the staff running the clock were extremely nice. My son said the ice was good and didn’t have any issues. They did have a ref one game that was extremely whistle happy and called some penalties that were a big stretch but it went both ways so you deal.

We went here to skate over winter break. The price is right for entry and rentals. For the little ones, they do rent “skate helpers,” but they don’t have many available. We also watched the MIZZOU team play a home game here. It was very crowded when we went, but it was still fun.
Deet — Google review
It’s a COOL place to go. We don’t go often since it’s out of town and expensive (for us) and there are limited hours… but every time we do go, we all have a good time. I don’t think we’d want to stay much more than the 90 min that was offered this particular session, but it would be nice for at least half hour longer. I recommend dressing in layers, though I didn’t need long sleeves, gloves, hat. Some people in our party were very chilly and did keep on hoodie and gloves and thicker pants.

A fun place to have a birthday party for your kids! Great for all ages! We did run into an issue of disorganization where they did not have me down for a birthday room when I had booked it months in advance, but they did fix the problem by allowing us to claim tables near the concessions and comped the entire birthday party. The owner was also nice enough to let myself and my daughter come in on a Sunday morning so she could do her birthday photo shoot. I am giving it 4 stars for the organization issue and double booking but, I am grateful for how the situation was handled! We will be back again :)

City park
North Jefferson City Recreation Area is a lovely park with various amenities for visitors to enjoy. The pavilion features a convenient water fountain with a spout designed for filling water bottles, and the playground is well-maintained, providing a fun space for children. While some visitors found the bathroom facilities limited to just a few portapotties, others appreciated the peaceful atmosphere of the park, which offers easy access and features swings and a small play structure.
Big parking lot. Toddler swings and 2 regular swings, couple benches to sit on and watch the kids have a good time. Nearby clean restroom and pavilion. Slides and things for the kids to climb on. If you hit it just right in the evening, some shade! Very nice!

It was nice. I liked that the water fountain at the pavilion also had a spout to fill water bottles. The playground appeared to be well kept.

We watched the solar eclipse here. The Totality was is perfect view here. A group of 3 of us were camping and all of the volunteers and staff were the friendliest. I even enjoy the locals. Hospitality is superb. The scenery is hilly and very green.

There were no restrooms available. They have some sort of garden park on one side and a playground on the other side of the road that are beautiful but if you have no restrooms available for the kids \nd you have to pack up and go for that reason well then it's not a place i would revisit

This area is close to the Katy Trail and has plenty of wide open space for many activities. There is a pavilion and new playground located on site. Seasonal maintained and operated bathroom facilities are available.

Golf course
Oak Hills Golf Center, situated within Jefferson City park in the USA, is a well-liked golf course offering a variety of tee options. The course is known for its excellent maintenance and reasonable pricing. In addition to the 18-hole setup, there's also an option to play just 9 holes. The facility includes amenities such as a driving range, putting mat, and pitching mat. Visitors can even purchase used clubs on-site.
Nice hilly course in good condition. It's a pretty challenging course with fairways that slope left & right as well as several hidden greens..
Joe P — Google review
I hadn't played here in several years, and my sister was visiting for a few days, so I decided to use Oak Hills as our first round of the week. Unfortunately, they were aerating the greens while we were playing, so there were only a few greens that weren't ridiculously bumpy and slow, and I was disappointed they didn't inform us of that (and perhaps offer a discount) when we booked and/or signed in. But, tis the season, so we know there is always a risk in the spring. The course was very green due to all the rain, and much of the rough was so long that I lost 4 balls in the rough. I know, I know, it wouldn't have been a problem if I had hit it in the fairway, but there are a lot of holes where that's easier said than done, as many fairways have slopes that cause even good tee shots to run into the rough. And there are several blind tee shots also. But all in all, I think this is a pretty good municipal course, and while it looks very short on the card, even for a par 70, you'll want to bring your straight game!
Greg G — Google review
We played in a. mwga senior ladies event at this course the second week of June. I received several texts the day before that when people got there to play their practice round, the course was closed without notice to anyone. Had they texted the appropriate contacts for our tournament, we could have made alternate arrangements for our players. Instead, they were left trying to drive around and find tee times at other places. Actually, all of the other courses in the area were open except for this one and were not even cart path only. On the day of the event, we arrived and were told the course was soaking wet, that it would be cart path only and that they had strongly been considering closing the course for the day. I was astounded because this was a state tournament, and they gave no credence to the fact that we had women coming from all over to play in this. I asked about handicap flags for women who normally use those anyway, and was told they would not be available and they would have to do their own walking. There was no one available to help bring bags from the parking lot around the building to the back where carts were staged for the tournament. However, players' names were not readily seen, so players were walking all over trying to carry their heavy golf bags to carts that weren't marked except for one sign every other cart on the steering wheel. I got a printed list of hole numbers from the pro shop and attempted to help the women find the carts where they belonged. They did not help us do this in any way. When we got out on the course, we found it to be in nice condition, with no standing water and no mud anywhere. The only thing was heavy dew on the grass at the beginning of the day. There was absolutely no reason that the course should have been cart rpath only, and if it was in the morning, it should have been changed within an hour or two because it was dry. Especially for a course that does not have cart paths throughout the entire course, telling people to be cart path only and then having your carts turn off when you leave the cart path when there is none is ridiculous. Tee boxes were poorly marked, several people were lost and driving around looking for the next tee box. There need to be signs for people who come and are not familiar. Other than that, we had a great play day. It was beautiful weather, and had the course been properly marked and properly flagged for the day's conditions, we would have had a nice time. As it was, many of the women could not walk in the severe Hills and that left the one or two people on their team who could walk to retrieve balls for everyone all day long and it was very exhausting. Had it not been for these other conditions that were not necessary to have during this tournament I would have given 4 stars.
Vicki T — Google review
Worst golf course ever. Someone keeps cutting the grass around the tees I play, need to stop and wait. Being yelled at by an old white female. Booked 18 tees, but only played 3 and left
Cc C — Google review
This is a short course with some narrow fairways that are sometimes hard to hit. I can't tell you how many times I've missed the fairway on 13. Hole 2, 4, and 10 are all reachable from the tee. Hole 16 and 17 were redesigned and are fun to play. Look for opportunities to eagle 17. 15 is also a good hole and has been redisgned. I like the tiered green on hole 9. Course management is key. In the fall, there are plenty of leaves to contend with. My ball tends to hide under them on the fairway. They recently installed GPS on the carts, which provide hole information and distance info. These devices can be annoying, and I rarely use them to keep my score because of their buggyness. They are also not useful for distance information, in my opinion. This tends to be the case with all of these devices, irrespective of the course. It has a chipping and pitching area that's pretty nice for working your approach shots. The clubhouse is unspectacular but decent.

Always a great course. Well maintained and fun to play. I suck at golf but still doesn't keep me from the driving range or putt matt or pitching mat. Course is set up with 18 holes or you can play 9. 45 right now for course plus cart. Must be over 16 for cart rental tho. Have a great one!!! Oh you can buy used clubs too that's how I got my set.

Visitors appreciate the challenge of navigating around trees and aiming for baskets, making it an engaging experience for both beginners and seasoned players alike.
very very well taken care of. if you don't wear shoes no need here

Nice course. Good exercise with throwing and walking the ups and downs of the course. It was my first time. I wanted to learn and by the end started getting the hang of it. However, going around trees and aiming for a basket I couldn't see was interesting.
Heather H — Google review
Sporadically maintained. I stepped on a hawthorn thorn that went through my shoe and into my foot. The first 6 or so holes are really wooded and hard to even see the baskets until you are use to the course.
Douglas W — Google review
The good, there is a good mix of straightforward holes and technical holes. Its easy to get to. The bad, the maps that show hole lay out are terrible, and some of the pin placements do not have a line. The trees are so tight with unfortunate placement the its not realistic for a disc to fly in such a way to approach the basket without 100% hitting a tree or using multiple lay ups.
Robert K — Google review
2 great courses. Front course is wooded, well layed out not to many hazzards. The dam course is mostly uphill for the 1st 9 holes, then nice wooded flowing back 9. There is one water hazard on this course.
Paul S — Google review
Great Wooded course. Benches on every hole. It's a great course for a lazy round of disc golf. Love it!...

Good course. Last time there were missing tee signs. Poorly laid out until you know the course. Mostly less than 400' holes. All par 3.

McKay Park, a 20.4-acre green space in Jefferson City, is a charming destination named after Neil McKay, who generously contributed to its establishment in 1979. The park boasts a picturesque lake, a lakeside fitness trail perfect for walking or jogging, an asphalt basketball court for sports enthusiasts, and ten picnic grounds ideal for outdoor gatherings. Families can enjoy the playground and bank fishing while picnicking or having a barbecue.
Nice place to stop when traveling. Many picnic benches and a nice playground set up for kids. The small lake is relaxing. There is a nice building with toilets.
Sheila R — Google review
McKay Park was the first city park I went to when I first moved to Jeff City and I think it's a good one. It's not where you go for long canopied hikes, or wildlife encounters (other than fishing) but it is exactly the kind of park you go to for a picnic, to take the kids to play, to have a BBQ, sit on a bench and watch the birds or sunrise, or to go fishing. It's also dog friendly and has a really nice little walking loop around with lake with high visibility and all paved. I was amazed that it was such an easily accessible, stocked, fish-able public park, and that's certainly one of the major draws.
JC E — Google review
This is a simply gorgeous park and lake right inside Jeff City! It includes a wonderful paved walking path all around the lake where you'll likely see many geese ( and a couple of faux swans). In fact, you'll need to dodge the goose dung on the sidewalk. The park is beautifully maintained with many varieties of flowers and trees. It contains numerous benches and a great playground area for the kids. This park makes me wish I lived nearby but we were just passing thru for one night.

My kids and I love this park! It has one of the best play grounds. I also love taking walks on the trail that surrounds the beautiful Sunset Lake.

This park is a gem. Centrally located, clean and well maintained restrooms, great playgrounds, plenty of parking, quality walking track, and best of all, the FISHING! Kids and adults alike are in for a good time! Edit* They have one of the cold water dispensers like in schools! Absolutely clutch on hot summer days- just refill your container as needed!
Brad B — Google review
Park was great. Playground equipment was all in good working condition. Only issue we had was the hill to the playground. Needs a blocker so you don't fall down the hill. Way too steep for littles.
Angie S — Google review
It's a nice park. It seems well kept and clean. There is a paved walkway that goes all the way around the pond and a nice play area for the kiddos. The pond itself is a bit shallow for fishing and we only managed to catch a couple of sunfish, an under water tree, and I hooked a Cattail. Darn! There is a pretty steep walkway to one of the parking lots. It would be nice if it had a handrail.
Holly D — Google review
McKay Park is probably the best all-around walking park in Jefferson City. While it doesn’t necessarily excel in any single category, it offers a great balance of features that make it a go-to spot for walkers and runners alike. The scenery is pleasant, the elevation stays fairly consistent, and the loop is just about 1 kilometer. Perfect for anyone who likes to track their distance with ease, including me. I frequent there and have tried my hand at fishing ( I think id best stick to walking though).

McClung Park is a historic park established in 1915 with the help of prison inmates. The park boasts a pavilion for live events and various play areas suitable for families with small children. Visitors appreciate the charming event area, well-maintained playground, and ample parking space. Although some find the restroom facilities basic, they are still considered better than none at all.
Delightful views all around but unfortunately the benches and tables are left dirty. Park is in excellent condition and the playset is too.

My littlest one (almost 2yo) has a bit of trouble navigating some of the obstacles in this playground. But the older kids enjoy it. We found on our last trip there's an area with a large long table that could be great for crafting, and a large fire pit. Requires permit to use, however.

37Jefferson City Large Dog Park

4.2

Dog park
Probably the best dog park we have ever been to, and we've lived everywhere from New York to Alaska. It's HUGE! It's clean, well maintained, the fencing is in great shape, there's always fresh water via a pump, there are always toys, there are plenty of places to grab a bag and dispose of waste, there is a flat gravel track around the inside perimeter for walking if you want to get some exercise with your dog, there are places to sit, shade trees, a picnic table, and, access to bathrooms! This park adjoins a multi-use municipal building that somehow generally remains unlocked (as some locals informed us), and the bathrooms are very well kept and stocked. There are coded locks on some of the gates so PLEASE be mindful of this! The municipal building has a side entrance accessible from the dog park, and you have to go through a gate that can shut behind you that has one of these locks; if that side building door happens to be locked you could get stuck, so make sure you know the code or that the side door is unlocked, prop open the gate, or that other people are there just in case! Overall, this is an absolutely fabulous public dog park! And the state motto of Missouri really should be "Missouri- we LOVE dogs!" because everyone seems to go crazy over them!
Sara H — Google review
lol. The fact that this city is purgatory and there’s nothing to do and they set up a pay wall for a janky little dog park is nuts to me. Literally who pays 3$ to use a park absolute joke of a city. Absolute greed. anyone who was involved with pay walling a dog park needs to be exiled to an island far away.

Awesome place to take your dog! You need to register your dog at The Linc before entering the park and it's only like $2 a month to bring them anytime! Love having the freedom to run your dog off leash!
Sari Y — Google review
Cool park! Unfortunately if you’re visiting and no one is there, it needs a code! I was visiting from out of town thought I’d let my pups out to stretch their legs. It’s $2/month per dog. Which is great! Unless there’s no way to pay that. It’s a large park though!
Nomes — Google review
We used to love taking our big dog to this park, plenty of space to run and benches under trees to rest at, and usually a pretty good crowd of regulars. Unfortunately we stopped going because more and more people would bring their very small dogs (and even young children, toddlers, and babies) to the big dog side. My dog is friendly with dogs his size, bigger, and a little smaller - but he is a rescue who had a traumatic first 3 years in a house with a little dog and does not react well to or with small dogs. We had to leave so many times because people refused to take their small dogs to the small dog side or even try to keep their dogs from bothering ours when we asked. For their dogs safety and for our dogs safety we would be the ones to leave. And there were many times where we drove all the way out there only to find that we could not go in because of small dogs. It is such a shame, our dog really loved that park.
Melissa — Google review
the park is closed must have membership to get in very misleading don’t go
JACKIE W — Google review
I love this place. Every dog owner who comes is so friendly and always embraces the other dogs. The same dogs come every day, so you get familiar with their names and owners. I love the hose and water bins in the middle where the dogs can get wet and drink water! I also love the bin with toys for the dogs! It's overall an amazing place! I gave 4 starts because I don't like the wood-chip area. My dog always leaves with a lot of woodchips and mini sticks in his hair. That's the only downfall to this place.
