Small but perfect. Very fun museum. They had lots of great things to see and read. Very good layout. Everything was clean and organized. I don’t have much to say but it was great!
Peter G — Google review
I didn't come to the museum, but I managed to get some souvenirs (stickers) from the front counter. There's also plenty of brochures for tourists to keep.

Really neat Museum. They have a small gift shop. They accept donations.

I love this museum. A great 30 minute stop to learn about historical events in fernie. $5 per adult

Small but excellently curated local history museum in a lovely heritage building. Upstairs there's an art gallery presenting (and offering for sale at modest prices) diverse works of local artists.

Beanpod is a charming chocolate, gelato, and coffee shop located in Fernie. The owners, James and Mary Heavey, are passionate about creating artisanal chocolates from ethically sourced cocoa beans from South America. They also roast their own coffee on-site. This family-run business started when the Heaveys moved to Fernie from Ireland to pursue their dream of owning a small chocolate factory.
Lovely bean to bar Ecuador origin chocolate! Many inclusion bars as well as truffles and gelato in season. Coffee and hot chocolate also served. Large windows into the chocolate making process. Delicious hot chocolate!
Barbie H — Google review
Lovely little place. Gelato has wonderful texture and flavor. Service was top notch.
Sara O — Google review
Amazing gelato, it tastes so great beyond what flavorings are added. I had espresso gelato, it was better than any espresso ice cream I've ever had. Recommendation for the business: sell the little chocolate bars separately, not just in the sample box. Such a fun little space to eat a tasty treat! Loved it.
Lisa T — Google review
Love the gelato and chocolate. One warning though, if you think of purchasing the sampler treat box of chocolate, please realize that the box is twice the size. In other words when you open the box, you will find that it is only half filled. True it states that it contains 10 bars, but the packaging is very deceptive. Shame!
Mark G — Google review
Delicious ice cream Very welcoming place and nice people
Venjovanne L — Google review
This place is really neat, as they grow a lot of the ingredients they use to make their flavors. I had raspberry and chocolate, which had a great flavor and not too sweet.
Matthew R — Google review
Their Blueberry cream and Raspberry chocolate gelato are delicious. Nice service, spacious place with colorful couches to enjoy your ice cream. Lots of interesting chocolate bar flavours made on site to choose from.

Great experience, greatly compliments a trip to Fernie. Staff is friendly and there's beers for everyone. I'd recommend the flights!
Xavier S — Google review
As an update since it's been a few years, we came back. It's still a great place to hang out and they have seating outside, which is great on a good weather day. Your dogs can hang with you outside with you too. The menu is totally different also. No more schnitzel, beer cheese, liver and onions etc etc. They do still have poutine and it's good, but the gravy that they used to have was off the hook with flavor. They have great salads now, burgers and poke bowl style stuff. So more options for people with gluten issues. The fries are still good and our waitress was great. It's still a great place for a pitcher of beer and to catch a good soccer game or some other sports with friends.
Sabrina B — Google review
Always good beer! Walk up to the bar, friendly service only. Limited seating inside but lovely patio. We ordered pick up from a restaurant downtown and then brought it here to eat and enjoy a brew.
Bradley M — Google review
Seen this place while pulling into Fernie on summer vacation. The Fernie RV park was close proximity biking over. Plenty of parking if required. Sat on the patio and enjoyed a few drafts and played a few of the many games available beside the bar to bring back to your table. Kid friendly. No food just the basics of chips and such.
Myles M — Google review
If you’re looking for a great brew while in Fernie then you have to venture to the Fernie Brewing Company. The assortment of brews (both tradition and non-alcohol) are outstanding. Matched only by the friendliness of the staff. Decent seating inside or outside on the shaded patio. Lots of great merch to let everyone know you’re a fan.
Allan L — Google review
Great small brewery, excellent patio. Always the regular year round brews plus seasonal offerings. Flights offer a chance to sample several if you’re in doubt or adventurous. There are small snacks available and patrons are limited to four pints each.
Doug B — Google review
Great beer, and wonderful staff. Special thanks to Paige from Calgary who was not just helpful in walking us through the newest beer, but she was helpful in providing recommendations for my next trip to Fernie with my kids!
Joe D — Google review
Loved the whole experience here. Had a few flights which was an excellent way to try all their beers. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about their beers. They have really cute merch too. Every beer we tried was great. The patio has excellent views and a cute place for dogs to hang out under a shaded awning. No food served here but they do have a small menu of snack items.

Waterfalls
Fairy Creek Falls is a popular hiking destination in Fernie, offering a 4.3-kilometer out and back trail that is suitable for both novice and experienced hikers. The waterfall is particularly breathtaking during the spring when the snow begins to melt. Located just outside of town, it's easily accessible and doesn't require a full-day commitment. The trail takes you through the forest, culminating in the mesmerizing sight of the falls.
Nice little hike to a beautiful waterfall. Really enjoyed it. Worth it. Take the time to enjoy the falls, there are lots of areas to dip in the river for a swim and you can walk right up to the falls for a shower. Water was very cold in August.
Kyle D — Google review
Great trail. Great for children too. At normal pace and a few stops for exploration , plan for about an 2 hours. Great fun!
Jay S — Google review
This was a great hike. Along the way, my tiny human spotted little spots were the fairies were camping and it made her very happy. Good trail going in and out.
Matthew R — Google review
Distance: 5km out & back Elevation Gain: 143m Difficulty: Easy This trail truly lives up to its name—magical! Winding through the forest along the creek, it makes for a peaceful hike with a rewarding waterfall at the end. There are also a few crystal-clear pools by the falls, perfect for cooling off on a hot day(like today). A great option if you’re looking for a quick adventure in Fernie!
Sheyenne S — Google review
Was a great morning hike with amazing views. You can scramble over some rocks to get to the waterfall! Beautiful wildflowers with benches & picnic tables during the hike. Times will vary depending on fitness levels how long you stay admiring the falls or if you stop often for photos as we did! But its about 2.5kms each way with km markers & plenty of direction signs.
Tamzi B — Google review
We absolutely loved this hike. The initial incline was the biggest of them all. Some nice small inclines on the way to the falls. About 15 minutes in we couldn’t hear the highway anymore which was nice. There were some areas that our dog could access the creek to cool off and grab a drink along the way. Overall a great beginners hike with beautiful scenery!
Kathleen H — Google review
We took our five year old and almost 3 year old on this hike. It's lovely and very beautiful. Worth checking out, but it did take us closer 3 hours round trip which we were not prepared for based on other reviews. It was easy difficulty wise, never too much incline, just lengthier than anticipated with little ones.
Des K — Google review
Beautiful trail ! Soft for walking, minimal tripping hazards, and a gorgeous waterfall at the end! Super quiet as well.

The Fernie Golf Club Nordic Trails offer a delightful blend of picturesque views and easily navigable paths. Upon arrival at the parking lot, visitors are greeted by breathtaking mountain vistas and well-maintained trails for both snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. In the event that equipment is needed, GearHub Sports conveniently provides rentals. To discover golf courses and facilities across British Columbia, one can explore various links categorized by city, town, or region.
best course of my life I would golf there forever, the dark haired middle aged lady provided me with the best personalized service, the greens were rolling at a good speed and the landscape was very promising and gorgeous, the holes were surrounded by wildlife and felt very natural to be playing on the course. After my round, i ate dinner at the BayLeaf and i was given great service and great food and a reasonable price. Overall i would definitely golf here again and play another 18 holes, as well the cart girls were very friendly and offered good service.-Chris Peacock age 61

Played a twilight round on the back 9 and really enjoyed it. Some challenging tee shots, 18 is a beast half moon and the pin positions weren't a breeze for a Tues (ladies night?) Nice practice setup with the chipping green and lots of range space. The layout between the proshop and having to go upstairs to the restaurant for a beverage seems a bit clunky. Not a very efficient setup at drop-off to the parking lot either.
Paul E — Google review
Course is in great shape. Beautiful mountain setting and the staff was wonderful making our family golf experience exceptional!
Josh W — Google review
Played Sept 15th. Rained the whole day but decided to tough it out. Would definitely play it again. Shout out to Dan for being a gracious host! Hopefully see ya next year
Perry C — Google review
Great views, nice quiet course. The staff is friendly and the view from the deck is fantastic! Kids camps are a great deal and a fine way to get your children involved with golf at a young age. Check this course out for even a short 9 holes if you have a chance!
Lande ( — Google review
Three friends and I came here on July 7th for a girls’ golf trip, and were immediately met with arrogance and blatant misogyny from a young guy and an old man at the pro shop. They were condescending, dismissive, and made it painfully obvious that they didn’t think four women belonged on the course…even asking “do you guys know how to golf?” It was insulting, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.
Mikaela E — Google review
Very nice course great views of the mountains. Nice people. Golf game terrible but we enjoyed the course and views. Spectacular.

Very poor handling by the staff. They maybe have a nice golf but Jaffray, Crownest pass, Cranbrook are by fare much much much more friendly. Fernie never again 😵‍💫😵‍💫.

Disc golf course
Nestled behind the Mountain View subdivision in James White Park, the Lizard Range Disc Golf Course offers a secluded and serene setting with cottonwoods and the adjacent Elk River. This 18-basket course is open year-round and provides discs at various locations in Fernie. While some find the holes challenging due to numerous trees, others appreciate the technical yet enjoyable mix of distances. The well-maintained course caters to both beginners and advanced players, featuring full tee pads on all 18 holes.
A really beautiful course. There is a nice mix of trees and open areas. The distances are for nice full size course. The fall colours are beautiful this time of year. One of my favorite courses in the Kootenays.
Mitch Z — Google review
Worth playing! Fun course, fairy technical and fun play through but shorter distance !
Kaila B — Google review
Great course, some holes are super difficult due to the 1000 trees. But it makes for a great day.
Mathew G — Google review
Probably my favorite course to date. Good combination of short and longer holes, open and obstructed holes. Lots of tree cover to protect from the sun.
Jason K — Google review
Really fun 18 hole course that is well maintained. Only one area of the course you are at risk of loosing your disc. Holes are a bit close together so keep an eye out for other people and their discs!
Meghan — Google review
Great place to walk the dogs and just wind down after a long day
Cassandra L — Google review
We are not disc golf athletes but spent a morning playing here during a bachelor party weekend. Was a great, free activity (if you can get your hands on discs). The holes were quite tough to be honest, as there are a ton of trees, but if you focus on the joys of being outside in nature, hopefully you can get over that.
Jordan P — Google review
Awesome wooded course. Nice challenging mix of technical with distance. All baskets and well worth the trip out to play it. Teepad size has grown over time as people wear out the grass but still super fun.

Cool little place at edge of Fernie behind Canadian Tire but not really for swimming i would say. Still nice place to view with mountains as a backdrop
Tamzi B — Google review
A beautiful place in the strangest of places! Never would I have thought, that behind a Canadian tire and grocery store, in the middle of a ski town, I would find the most peaceful slice of heaven. I suggest to visit this lake in the fall of you can! The colors are amazing, and the view of the mountains in the background, makes this a picture perfect moment for visitors and locals!! Located in a vintage bank building on the corner of Second Avenue and Ninth Street, The Brickhouse is a lively hangout in Fernie. The chic decor and trendy atmosphere offer an urban feel in a mountain town. With comfortable booths and dining tables, it serves Mediterranean-inspired pub meals with a twist, featuring farm-to-fork favorites made with love. The restaurant also offers a great selection of craft beers and hosts live music events.
Enjoyed lunch at The Brickhouse in a day visit to Fernie after getting multiple recommendations from locals to eat there. The atmosphere is very nice, service good, and food was quality. My wife is gluten-free and was able to get a gluten-free bun. She was able to eat the fries. The fries are gluten-free, but they don't have a separate fryer. The server was knowledgeable about what was gluten-free and what wasn't. Was a pleasant place to dine.

I had the buffalo chicken sandwich at the Brickhouse in Fernie and it exceeded expectations. The chicken was tender with just the right kick, and the crispy onions added an incredible texture. The flavors were bold, balanced, and genuinely impressive. Even the fries were cooked to perfection—crispy outside, fluffy inside. I was pleasantly surprised by both the quality of the food and the attentive service. The cozy atmosphere made the experience even better. This spot is a gem in Fernie and I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend it if you're in town!
Sumit B — Google review
Best food and service we have had in a long time! The salmon/ beet salad was amazing. My husband's burger and fries were incredible! Large portions. The waitress was so good!

Lovely little place. Food was excellent. My partner ordered crispy chicken sandwich with fries. I ordered the brie burger with truffle fries. Both were divine. Service was prompt and courteous. Worth checking out. Stairs to the front door so I don't believe its wheelchair accessible.

The food was awesome at this restaurant. I had the best chicken pesto sandwich. We loved the food and would visit again when we are in Fernie
Jen — Google review
The steak sandwich was so good - one of the best I’ve ever had. The fries were really good too. The chicken sando was amazing and the flatbreads had tasty pesto. It was busy when we arrived but we had a beer at the bar until a table opened up. The service was really good and everyone on the staff was doing their thing to make everyone’s lunch amazing. It didn’t take long to get seated and it was worth the wait. Highly recommend this spot if you are in Fernie and hungry/thirsty.

Had a really nice evening with friends for dinner and drinks. The beer was flowing and great options. Service was quick and didn't have an empty pint for longer than 30 seconds. I got a burger and it was just ok. Would go back and try more appetizers next time, they looked good

Fernie Dirtjump Park, nestled in the heart of the city, is a hidden gem for outdoor enthusiasts. This free-to-use park offers an array of exciting activities including wooden bridges, obstacles, dirt jumps of various sizes, and a pump track. It caters to all skill levels from beginners to pros and provides a fun atmosphere for families with toddlers on strider bikes as well as skilled riders. Additionally, it's adjacent to a skateboard park and offers winter slides for added enjoyment.
Fantastic park! It's so big, with so many components that work for a huge range of abilities. We watched talented 12-year-olds go over the highest jumps. We saw kids on striders run after their dads on the rollers. We watched an instructor teach controlled skids on gravel and another one teaching a ladies bike class. The duck boards are challenging. The logs are a creative element that I haven't seen elsewhere.

Nice park with several options for activities. We went for the disc golf course. We are just learning the sport and found the course very difficult because it’s all amongst the trees. It’s also a full 18 holes so we never ended up doing the whole course, it just took too long. Also needed a large amount of bug spray! Well taken care of though from what we could tell.

Great hike, about 4hrs 45min to complete if you don't spend long at the top. About 9.5km all up for out and back hike. Pretty much straight up the whole 945m of elevation with some scrambling at the end, views worth it.

Yamagoya Sushi is a popular restaurant in Fernie, known for its wonderful Japanese dining experience and laid-back atmosphere. The interior resembles traditional Japanese design, offering a beautiful and authentic setting. It has been voted as one of the top restaurants in Fernie and comes highly recommended by locals and visitors alike. The menu features a variety of sushi dishes, with options to dine privately in a tatami room or enjoy sake at the bar.
I used to travel in and out of Fernie for work for the better part of a year and every single time I came back, I ate at Yamagoya multiple times per week. This is one of the best sushi spots I've been to and I have been around. I think I have tried everything on their menu (maki, handrolls, torched, sashimi, you name it) and I have never once been disappointed in something I ordered. Fresh, authentic seafood at a quality-matched price-point.. can't get much better than that. The service staff have always been friendly and attentive, and they have a wonderful selection of cocktails here that I encourage you to try. If you're ever in the area or even passing through on a cross-Canada road trip then please do yourself a favour and stop in here.

Our experience was simply unforgettable! Our two servers were an absolute riot—knowledgeable, personable, and always ready with a great recommendation. The food was fresh, served quickly, and every bite was a delight. We even requested something off the menu, and they absolutely delivered on that too. The cocktail game was on point—next level and very well priced. A special shout-out goes to Natalie and Justine, who truly made our night. Their friendly and vibrant personalities had us laughing the whole evening, and they went out of their way to ensure my partner’s birthday was celebrated in style. Even though we arrived late, they accommodated us until the very end. This visit was definitely a highlight of our Fernie birthday road trip, and we can’t wait to come back again!

The tonkotsu shoyu ramen tasted amazing and had a rich flavor. The noodles had the perfect texture and softness. The server asked if I wanted to make it spicy ...I said no, but I appreciated that they offer that option for spicy food lovers. I went as a party of one and waited in the waiting area for about 15 minutes, during which the server asked if I wanted a drink. It’s a great place that I would recommend for a group of friends, but not so much for an intimate date night, as the environment is better suited for a loud and fun evening.

We visited this restaurant on September 19, 2025 for a birthday dinner. Our server Krista was awesome! Very personable, knowledgeable about the house cocktails and the food. We ordered a wide variety of sushi, rolls and entrees, all of it was phenomenal. Appropriate portions, quality ingredients, and well presented. Highly recommend! Our group will.be back!

The best sushi place in Fernie. We were surprised how good our sushi were, for such a small town the food quality was amazing. Also loved the modern music playlist! The cocktail menu is impressive, Toki Pom Sour is my favourite 🤩 Must try sushi rolls - unagi, kryptonite, Krista, Fernie steak & chi roll. Thank you guys for a welcoming atmosphere and wonderful customer service. Keep in mind that most of the menu items are done from scratch and it takes a while to prepare your order.

Great food! Was surprised by the size of the sashimi quite big and very tasty. The spicy rolls can't remember their name, they're SUPER hot they have a note that it's serious but I feel like adding that they have ghost pepper in them would be nice

The Happy Cow is great! Fun flavors and everything is homemade. Really tasty ice cream. Don’t let the line out the door deter you. People are there for a reason. Don’t miss out on the Honeycomb Ice Cream. It’s amazing.

Very nice stop on our road trip home, we were able to get gas and park our truck and trailer within walking distance at the gas station which was great. Good ice cream, loved the honey ice cream and Rocky road. Also my daughter (1) dropped her ice cream almost right away and I went to order another one and they didn’t charge me which I thought was very kind.

We visited this ice cream shop in Fernie on August 5 after supper and chose it because of the great reviews. The ice cream totally lives up to the hype! I had one with honeycomb pieces in it (10 out of 10 deliciousness!) and my husband had the huckleberry, which was also 10 out of 10 deliciousness! The person working wasn’t the friendliest, so that first impression wasn’t the best, but the ice cream itself more than made up for it. We still really enjoyed our visit and the flavors were absolutely worth the stop. Worth every single lick!

Huge scoops, so prepare some space for all of that! Honeycomb seems to be everyone's favorite (and after trying it, I can understand why), but all of their flavors are absolutely delicious.

Update: Went back twice this past week. They have a macaroon flavour on the menu at the moment. If you like creamy choco and desiccated coconut, I recommend you try it. Service on point, as usual. The clerk is so calm and courteous, even when she is the only one working and there is a line-up. Thanks for serving awesome ice cream! Got a scoop of the honeycomb and one of Johnny's addiction-- delicious flavours. Loved that their waffles cones were thinner and crispier than the typical ones.

The Fernie Aquatic Centre is a fantastic facility considering the size and population of Fernie. It offers various amenities such as lane swimming, a spacious hot tub, a children's pool with a slide, a sauna, and an exciting inflatable play course. The rates for day passes are affordable, and the facility is well-maintained. It provides an excellent indoor option during winter months and even has an outdoor spray park in the summer.
Great showers for travelers $2 during certain times. Thanks to this is was able to stay a few days longer. Very clean, good temp and pressure.

Super fun and very affordable family rates. The graduated depth of warm kiddie pool is great for helping even the littlest kids gain confidence in the water. The big kids love the Tarzan swing, water slide, diving board, basketball hoop and many floaties to play on. Great time for all ages.
Robyn P — Google review
Honestly, not very impressed with the maintenance and constant issues with this aquatic center.. it's outdated, the hot water is constantly broken (kiddie pool and hot tub are not very enjoyable in that case). When everything does work, the staff is always AMAZING! We love them. They deserve 10 stars for all their hard work. The outdoor splash park is great for the summer! Not sure why the Aquatic center does not get much love from the taxpayers money, as it is one of the very limited family friendly options for indoor fun in Fernie. It has lots of potential and I'm sure the residents would appreciate it.

It is an ideal place to find a unique gift for yourself or someone special. The gallery showcases beautiful artwork created by talented artists who are friendly and helpful.
I really liked this store. It's like a small shopable gallery, affordable and unpretentious. I love that they have write ups and out each artist with their individual works grouped together. The workers are actually artist and each one works one to two days in the shop. So that part is fun too. Meet and greet and maybe get your purchase signed again. 😉 They have everything you can think of here, from small stickers to jewelry, sculptures, big wall painting etc. ❤️ Something for everyone and every kind of budget.
Sabrina B — Google review
The store is great. The follow up not so much. Be aware when you purchase a painting the store turns it over to the artist to ship. This was not communicated to me. I am now 1 month in waiting to hear about the arrival of a painting. Spent close to $1200. After sales service is very poor. Voice mail not returned. It was explained to me by an employee they had nothing to do with the shipping " we're a co-op". No wonder small businesses in small towns go out of business. Such a shame.

One of the best massages I've had. Sabrina was great. It is in the little details that she does: warm cloth on your neck and feet; pillows on your back and shoulders to make you comfortable. The foot and head massage were add-on that are soooo worth it.
Steve M — Google review
Amazing massage at Spa 901! I reserved time in the hot pool which was so relaxing. I had a 60-min massage which was incredible! We chose to get a massage here after several days of hiking at Glacier NP and it was a great decision! The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing and calming. Tea, water, sandals, robe, locker room and showers all provided. I loved being able to take a shower after the massage to rinse off the oils. The staff here also gave us great restaurant recommendations!
Krista W — Google review
My best friend and I went to Spa 901 for the afternoon recently, during a girls' trip to Fernie. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We had facials together, in a room for couples, which was a really fun bonus for us. Usually, we have to do them separately. We both said afterwards it was one of the most relaxing facials we have ever had! We also had a pedicure, and our favorite part of that was the foam moisturizer and hot stone massage that was included in the one we booked. The hot pool was a nice perk, and there is also a relaxation lounge to sit in. The staff is all very friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back here! I want to take a moment to recognize an employee who went above and beyond, to make this a memorable and relaxing day for us. Vanessa, who does client relations there, is exceptional! She emailed back and forth with me numerous times, helping me choose services, adjusting appointment times and days to fit with our travel schedule, making sure we had time for the hot pool and time to get ready to go out after our spa day, helping me keep the facials a secret from my friend, giving me local recommendations of restaurants, etc, etc. Then, when we met face to face, she checked on us twice while were there, to make sure we were well taken care of. I have not received this type of service from a staff member at a spa any time in the years my friend and I have been spa-hopping all over the US. Vanessa showed kindness, intentionality, and willingness to help, over and over again during our interactions. She deserves a raise or a bonus! She clearly loves her job and enjoys making other people happy, and she's very good at it. Thank you, Vanessa, and thank you Spa 901 staff, for a special day with my dearest friend. If we are back in Fernie, we will be back to see you!

What an amazing experience! I can't recommend Spa 901 enough. The space is beautiful, relaxing, welcoming, stocked full of amenities, things you don't even think about until you need them. They have it. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. It's such a warm inviting atmosphere. We booked a couples massage and an hour in the hot pool came gratis. That hot pool is awesome! Those jets will cure any muscle ails you have. Then we moved onto the couples massage. Holy. Moses. We had Tanya and Genevieve - absolute artists. The room was beautiful, with a fireplace, mood lighting, serene music. The massage beds are warmed - such a treat! And Tanya and Genevieve are healers. I don't think we've felt this relaxed since before we learned what bills were. They were both so amazing, friendly, absolute professionals - thank you both! We're already planning another trip up from MT just to come spend a day at Spa 901 again. BOOK HERE. You will not regret it!

Had a wonderful girls' weekend in Fernie, starting with a serene morning at Spa 901. The outdoor hot tub was incredibly soothing, and I thoroughly enjoyed the facial and upper body massage. I’ve been to this bagel shop a few times now, and it’s always been amazing. The bagels are the best in town, with a wide variety of options. Mr. Fernie is one of my favorites so far. Now that summer is here, they also have a patio, which is great.

Great place to get your breakfast! It’s very busy so be prepared to stay in line for a bit and long wait to get your bagel! They have plenty of flavors for bagel.. it’s hard to pick one sometimes! As well, they have delicious coffee! And cups are big if you’re sitting in! Bagels were delicious but price point for what you’re getting is quite high. Our 2 bagels and 2 coffee came to 44$. They have lots of tables outside so bring some layers if you’re going in first thing in the morning:)

A fernie must!!! The bagels were so fresh, soft, and delicious. I had the Switchback Salmon & my husband had the Mr Fernie. We loved both! I also purchased some bagels and tubs of their cream cheeses to take home.

This place should have better hours as there’s no time I can go there. I start work before they open and finish work after they close that’s a shame. How is the work man supposed to get some bagels?
Gregory H — Google review
The best bagels in the world! The salmon lox is a sandwich I dream of. The onion and garlic bagel is a bagel made from the mind of a genius, its like when you get the crispy burnt edge of a bagel, but its the whole bagel. I wish it was closer to home as I dont come to fernie very often, but everytime I do come through- I stop.
Stephanie G — Google review
We had heard so much hype about Big Bang Bagels and even people from my city told me I had to try it when visiting Fernie! We went on August 6 and there was a big line out the door which made me even more excited! The wait to order was about 20 minutes but the staff were so incredibly friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Mr Fernie, my husband had the Griz, and our daughter had a plain bagel with cream cheese! We were lucky to find a table which was such a treat after waiting in line! The bagels were fresh and the everything bagel was piled high with poppy seeds which was kind of fun to see, but both my husband and I felt like our choices were a little lacking in flavor! The experience itself was fun and the staff truly made it special! But for us it just did not quite live up to all the hype! Maybe it was just the items we picked, but I am not sure I would return on a future trip!

We were greeted by the vibrant and interesting choice of artwork. Definitely conversation pieces. It's a great atmosphere. Service is prompt and friendly. Loved that they had a gf menu. Our orders came out in a timely fashion. The food is so tasty! If we could, we'd order one of everything. 😊

Amazing spot!! We went with a group of friends and ordered family style. We got the Mexican street corn, patacones, two platters of tacos (a feature prawn one, chicken, pork belly x2, beef, and hongos), tamarind ribs (familia size), achiote glazed pork belly bites, papitas, and churros for dessert. The flavours and sauces were all just so good! A few additional comments: - I recommend ordering 1 order of the corn per two people as it’s one cob cut in half. It was delish! - The patacones were my least favourite item but were well enjoyed by the others - the feature prawn taco, pork belly taco, and drunken beef tacos were the overall favourite tacos! - I can’t pick an overall favourite between the pork belly bites, tamarind ribs, corn, and papitas. They were all so good! - great atmosphere inside. Hope to go back to enjoy the lovely patio on a sunny day - I loved my blackberry mocktail and my friends enjoyed the classic lime margarita pitcher. I wish they would add more mocktail options to the menu as it was very limited. And also wish they’d add mojitos! For those of us who don’t like margs, it’s a great alternative. - the sauces with the churros were too runny. Hopefully they can revisit and thicken them just a bit so the sauces stay on the churro better after being dipped

Love the vibes of this restaurant. We ordered the mushroom and yam fries taco, both we awesome! Next week ordered the corn and beetroot salad, loved the dressing on both. Only complaint is I was not happy with tres leches, I found the cake to be too dry. I wish they had more vegetarian options. Overall a wonderful experience.

Omg. It’s been two weeks since we were in Fernie and i haven’t stopped thinking or talking about this place, well, more like craving. Tonight i tried to make arepas and failed. I can cook tamales, chile relenos and even crazy good black bean soup, but never even had an arepa till Nevados. Now I’m addicted. Actually we’re all addicted…to everything we ate and if our stomachs would have let us, we would have ate more. The staff was very nice to us and eventually moved us out to their amazing patio. The corn bread was the best I’ve ever had bar none. The tacos were great, the arepas well you know…, the tostadas and even the desserts were all amazing and fresh and super quality. I’m literally drooling thinking about driving back down from Calgary to eat there… Kudos to the kitchen staff. You guys rock out some absolutely amazing food. XX Crazy restaurant foodie guy.

We recently skied and snowboarded with FWA and had an absolutely shred-tastic time! The guides (Tyler and Tate) were knowledgeable, fun, and so well versed in the terrain! They ensured that we all were safe but had options to go harder for all runs! Ethan took some great pics and Jordan navigated the cat with ease! The conditions were great, the terrain was varied with some steep glades, open meadows and a few cliffs opportunities! We had a blast, got a full day of shredding, and greatly enjoyed the experience!

I have been skiing with Fernie Wilderness adventures for two years now. Last year was unbeatable. We had a private cat to ourselves, never ending powder and three guides, Mikey, Brian and Aaron who are all big beauties. We hit up bonus pow, side pow even sneaky pow. Admittedly, it was a tough year to follow up. In my opinion, a great Cat Skiing company is proven when the weather does agree with your plans of shredding some sick powder. This year, we had ear to ear smiles while blasting through a second year of powder packeted cliffs. On our third day without a dump of snow plus sunny days, most cat ski groups would not be able to pull up some fresh powder. These guys and gals pulled a rabbit out of a hat. They made sure everyone in our group had a blast. Thanks for the memories. Sincerely, The CAT SKI broskis

Five-Star Review for Derek, Supreme Commander of Trout If you’ve never floated the Elk River with Derek, let me save you the trouble: he’s not just a fishing guide, he’s the cult leader of all trout. My current wife (emphasis on current — she’s still on probation) and I hauled in 30 cutthroat trout, which I personally attribute to me being the single greatest angler to ever live. (Sorry Hemingway, sorry Poseidon, bow down.) Derek just happened to be there holding my net and laughing at his own jokes, which were somehow funnier than the fact that trout apparently lined up to die in my presence. This man has fished with more celebrities than TMZ, and if he hasn’t, he’ll at least convince you he did while you’re too busy reeling in your 27th fish. Derek told so many stories that I was crying from laughter while simultaneously landing yet another trout — basically achieving peak human performance. Honestly, the Elk River should be renamed the Dave River in my honor, but Derek can be the unpaid river jester who ensures my legend lives on. Google only allows five stars, but Derek deserves a Netflix comedy special, a statue in the middle of the river, and probably his own line of trout-flavored cologne. If you want to laugh until your ribs hurt, catch enough trout to fill Noah’s Ark, and bask in the glow of the world’s greatest fisherman (me), book Derek immediately.

Primarily a day trip operation, but we stayed at their lodge for 3 nights - HIGHLY recommend this as it is cheaper than staying in town and they take great care of you. Incredible meals and a wood burning hot tub (just don't expect TV or wifi). Best skiing of our lives. We are advanced skiiers but had never left the resort before and it was perfect for us. Untouched lines 5,6,7 days after the last storm. Guides are awesome people and really know the terrain well. Never felt unsafe and was smiling the whole time.

Great crew with great terrain. Can only recommend FWA for day trips or for staying in their back to the roots lodge with amazing food and service.
Steffen B — Google review
Great place to go for some deep powder skiing. We had Mikey and Kate as our guides. We were led to the best runs.
Mike H — Google review
So much to say about this location but I'll keep it simple. Excellent place to have a wedding as we did. The road up to the lodge is well kept and pretty much any vehicle can execute the drive. The lodge runs on a gen set that ran great,no issues for 2 1/2 days. There's a firewood heated 8 man hot tub and huge fire pit together at the back of the lodge that seemed to be the favorite gathering place Huge tall swing for the kids to enjoy, wildlife abounds(deer, bear, moose)we had a moose watching us from a short distance enjoying the celebrations. A definite place to check out when visiting Fernie.(OH ya)this is also a fishing/hunting/ski lodge.

Fernie Distillers, located in the historical town of Fernie, offers a cozy atmosphere and vintage decor that perfectly complements its surroundings. The distillery, run by a husband and wife team for just over two years, stands out as one of the few in Canada with a female distiller. Visitors can sample small-batch handcrafted spirits like Prospector Gin and No 9 Mine Vodka in the custom tasting room while learning about the distilling process from the head distiller.
Extensive, complex craft cocktail selection with a variety of house-made spirits and liqueurs. Recommend the apple ginger toddy after a cold day outside

The cocktails and mock tails that we had here were all amazing! The ticket to ride was the best espresso martini that my friend has ever had, it had some light gram cracker undertones that were amazing! The steady eddy mocktail was also a favorite and three of us got it. I could sip that for days. The place is cute, the servers are friendly and helpful. Great place to pop in for a drink, or two, or five.

Alex x Jan (pronounced Yawn!) were great hosts. Alex mixed up some tasty cocktails. I’m partial to gin but gave their twist on a Negroni a try (both ways) and they did not disappoint. My partner did the old fashioned and the country south sour (something like that) and both were wins. We also did a 4 part tasting and the cinder was such a surprise. Def recommend a visit if you’re in Fernie. Do a tasting and grab a bottle. It’s unique and tasty.

Highly knowledgeable about spirits and cocktails in general. Their spirits are top notch and the atmosphere is vibey! Highly recommend for a well balanced cocktail stop.

This small establishment is quit the diamond in the rough. With it's one of a kind drink menu and their one of a kind story it is the place to come to in Fernie. It was a surprise when were came how it had it's own character not to add they were so hospitable. Hard working educated staff made the experience memorable. I would recomend this place for a great night cap x

What an excellent place this is. We were given some special access to purchase some FD swag and a couple of bottles to take home and can't wait to come back and enjoy some cocktails. Super location, super friendly owners. Delicious beverages and a very cool setting.

Amazing cocktails! The perfect place for a pre-dinner (or post-dinner) drink. Super unique creations and bartenders are very helpful with tasting notes, recommendations, etc. Fernie Fog is the best!

Fun, creative, interactive, and even color changing drinks. The Doctor's Orders drink was awesome with a syringe to change the blue drink to purple! It even came with a tasty dried fruit leather.

If you're on the hunt for a cozy spot to savor locally roasted coffee, look no further than Rooftop Coffee Roasters. Nestled in Fernie, this charming café may be small, but it packs a punch with its delightful aroma wafting from the roasting equipment that occupies much of the space. The café offers an array of beverages, including rotating pour-overs and espresso-based drinks, alongside tempting pastries like pain au chocolat and croissants.
Amazing place in Fernie. We loved the coffee and the baristas are top notch. We would love to live in Fernie just to be able to go everyday at the rooftop.

Cute little café in Fernie. So cozy. They have good selection of merch, coffee was good but the matcha was very diluted.
Alayne S — Google review
Delicious! They have a variety of drinks from rotating pour overs and drip coffee, to espresso based drinks and teas. Quick service and a cute spot. Had a delicious iced mocha from here. They staff were very accommodating in making me a smaller sized drink at a lower price even though the iced drinks generally only come in one size. Do note that it is very busy in the morning. I walked past at 10am on a Sunday and there was a line all the way outside. Came back around 2pm and it was much better. Definitely hit this place up if you're in Fernie!

Coffee flavour is so yummy, the latte milk is very velvety. Lovely service !! I’ve also gotten a cookie here before and it was great:)
Alexis N — Google review
The coffee here is exceptional which is why I stop. However the wait time is often too long so I’m frequently heading elsewhere to grab a coffee. If you have 20min + to wait for a late you’ll have a great experience here.

The interior of this shop is designed so well. Love the walls and chair combo. Definitely visit again!
Jack R — Google review
This is a cute little coffee shop and the portguese tarts were amazing! I had a london fog tea and it was one of the better ones I've had. The only disappointing part was how slow the service was and the baristas werent really friendly either. But my only guess was how overwhelmed they were with how busy it was and may have been short handed too.
Kiera V — Google review
I gave this a 1 but should have been 1/2 star. First the barista just chatted with her friend and took 20 minutes to make a latte. The barista chatted about her visa etc. No attention to the customers at all. I wouldn't continue her employment as she has a lot to learn about customer service. I saw two other couples walk out saying the service was slow and unnattentive. Second, the latte was terrible in taste. Not worth the wait.

Amazing mountain! Nothing better than a Fernie pow day! If you're an intermediate to advanced rider, this place is for you. I spent two days and still haven't explored all of the rideable terrain. If you think you're a good rider, book a performance lesson. You will quickly be humbled and learn a ton to further benefit your skills.

What a beautiful resort, peaceful, the house here is well equipped with everything you need to enjoy. Hot tub, BBQ, log fire, fast internet, perfect temperature indoors. The view outside at the moment is beautiful pine trees the smell of these trees hits you when you first arrive. Fernie is a beautiful quaint little town, with plenty of options for dinning. Good shopping, great supermarkets with good range.

Went for a school trip, haven't been able to beat this. Best skiing in a long time, great powder coverage and plenty of groomed runs. It's got a little bit of everything for all levels. My only regret was that I didn't go to the polar peak.

As soon as you get to know your way around the mountains and different bowls it's absolutely amazing. There's skiing for everyone at all skill levels, and the views from atop the ski hills (especially the cedar bowl) are absolutely amazing.

Trails were in good shape, staff was very friendly and the flow trails were well designed. Great experience for our family! Note, if you're biking with beginners who have not done much downhill biking before consider starting on cross country trails in the region. Some of the green trails here are still very steep and challenging for new riders. Happy Trails!

Amazing park! Trails nearby, creek to dip in bike wash stations and showers. Most camps are heavily shaded so great in the heat of summer. Staff is friendly and very on top of things at the park. First come first serve sites are limited and very difficult to get but we lucked out. If you plan to go for first come first serve sites make sure to have a backup plan in the area.

We had a great experience at Mount Fernie Provincial Park. We spent two nights and really enjoyed ourselves. Everyone was respectful, and super quiet. The sites were well maintained and fairly large. Great cell phone reception as you are just a few minutes drive outside of town. Showers were great, clean, and we were supplied with nice warm water and good water pressure. My only criticism is the barking dogs that live near the provincial park. I think there's a property on the way up to the site that has a large dog that they clearly can't control. This is out of the Parks' control, but it was quite irritating early in the morning and late at night. We will return and book a site deeper into the park to avoid hearing this dog.
Breanne C — Google review
This is such a great park. Staff were great , sites are well treed and large. Some little hikes and a creek right in the park . Pit and regular toilets, free showers but you do have to boil water, so best to bring or buy drinking water .
Diana R — Google review
Such a beautiful spot to camp. We had a spot right by the creek. You could hear it the whole time in your site. At night the stars were out in full force. It was so beautiful. There are hiking trails right from the campsite and the campsite is only minutes from town. It's so peaceful and quiet. A great way to get away from it all.
TLS — Google review
This park is very close to the main road and easy to find. The road to the park include 1.2 km of gravel road but it is well maintained. Available campsites are listed on the park bulletin board and there are signs on each site clearly indicating which sites are available on FCFS basis. The sites offer no services but are large, fairly level and fairly private. There is a large, new, clean, central shower house with flush toilets plus pit toilets around the park. The showers are free and have hot water. The campground is on a hillside and the roads have old, pitted pavement. The interpretive trail along a creek was well maintained with good signs that are informative and looked like new. This park has hiking and mountain bike trails with maps at the trail heads that include difficulty level.
Michelle N — Google review
I recently visited a beautiful BC provincial park for a hiking trip. The lush greenery surrounding me was a sight to behold and it instantly made me feel more relaxed as I began my walk. The trail was peaceful, allowing me to take in the natural beauty of the surrounding area. The highlight of my hike was discovering a small river that was simply stunning. The refreshing water flowed gracefully through the rocks and trees, and I couldn't resist taking a moment to sit down and appreciate it all. Overall, it was a fantastic day filled with awe-inspiring views and a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Manav B — Google review
Excellent provincial park. Good showers here that were very clean when we visited. There are numerous potable water taps throughout the park and a dish sink at the showers and bathrooms. The outhouses have been recently redone, so recent when we visited that they still smelled strongly of fresh ceder wood. The campsites are spread out reasonable far and well wooded. We stayed during the pandemic when only BC residents were supposed to be allowed, though 90% of the campers were from Alberta, but the park was so spacious there wasn't any worry about being too close to any other parties.

The Ancient Cottonwood Trail offers a serene escape into nature, perfect for those looking to unwind while soaking in the beauty of towering cottonwood trees. Although the trailhead signage can be a bit elusive and accessibility is limited, the well-marked path provides an easy stroll that takes about 20 minutes to complete. Along the way, informative signs enhance your experience by sharing insights about this unique ecosystem and its rare species.
It's a lovely place to go. I wouldn't chance this after dark though. Very thick woods.
Dana B — Google review
Someone in the area recommended this place as somewhere cool to check out but I’m not sure when the last time they went was. I was excited to see super tall trees. The trees were wide but the couple that remain don’t tower over the rest of the trees. Most are dying or broken. The trail is not maintained which wouldn’t matter if it was worth while.
S O — Google review
Beautiful but not maintained anymore. Signs are missing and the trail us totally overgrown. Still cool to visit though.
Xavier S — Google review
It truly is unfortunate that this trail hasn't been maintained at all. It's totally overgrown, the information signs are faded & some broken. These ancient trees are beautiful & are the oldest Cottonwood trees left in the world. Many of them are dead & you can see why they're called widow makers. The walk was disappointing as we couldn't really pay attention to the trees as we were bush-wacking the entire time. I really hope the group that maintains this trail will come back & clear it up a bit as it's shame for people not to see these trees.
Roamer — Google review
The signage at the beginning is a bit hard to find, and it's not wheelchair accessible, but otherwise it's an easy walk with good info signage throughout. It's a very peaceful way to spend some time in nature while learning about a rare species.
Sh F — Google review
Nice short walk- took maybe 20 min. Well marked, would be ok for kids, but not a paved trail, so not great for strollers or wheelchairs
Meghan L — Google review
