Observation Decks & Towers
The Calgary Tower is a towering landmark offering breathtaking panoramic views from its glass-floored observation deck and revolving restaurant. Situated in the heart of downtown Calgary, it provides stunning vistas of the city's rivers, parks, and surrounding areas. The observation deck offers a 360-degree view of the bustling city, the majestic Rocky Mountains, foothills, and prairies. It's an ideal spot for a romantic evening or to pop the question with its spectacular views and vibrant atmosphere.
Visited the Calgary Tower Observatory while downtown, and the views from the top are fantastic — you can see the entire city and the mountains. The elevator ride is smooth and fast, and there’s plenty of space on the observation deck to walk around and take photos. The glass floor section is a fun addition if you’re feeling adventurous. The staff were friendly and helpful, though I do think tickets could be a bit cheaper for the experience. Overall, still a must-visit spot for anyone wanting a great perspective of Calgary.
Ian M — Google review
The Calgary Tower is a great way to get a full view of the city. The observation deck gives you a 360° look at Calgary and the Rocky Mountains on a clear day. The glass floor is a fun experience and makes for some great photos. The staff are friendly, and the elevator ride to the top is smooth and quick. The visit itself doesn’t take too long unless you plan to eat at the restaurant, but it’s still worth it for the views and the unique perspective of the city. Tickets are a little expensive for the short time you spend there, but it’s one of Calgary’s most iconic landmarks and a nice stop if you’re exploring downtown.
Fayaz K — Google review
Wow stunning views. And going at sunset is highly recommended! The mountains are a perfect with the sun setting behind them! Food was fantastic! It's so beautiful to see the lights of the city light up below! We went after a long day of travelling and sightseeing so we were casually dressed, but you can dress up super fancy too! It was great!
Denika D — Google review
My visit to the Calgary Tower during a day trip to Calgary was a memorable highlight, offering breathtaking 360-degree views of the city that truly showcased its charm. On a cloudless, sunny day, the conditions were ideal, revealing the distant Rocky Mountains and the urban expanse in stunning clarity. The observation deck, enriched with informative displays identifying key buildings, added an educational layer to the experience, making it both engaging and insightful. The ambiance was pleasant, and the tower stands as a notable tourist attraction in downtown Calgary, with a unique glass floor section that, while smaller than anticipated, provided a thrilling perspective. However, the experience was tempered by certain drawbacks. The tower, while iconic, shows signs of aging and is dwarfed by newer, taller skyscrapers, which slightly diminishes its grandeur The cost—approximately $75 for two, including parking and admission—a bit too steep. The viewing deck offers a decent panorama, but the surrounding skyline is less striking than expected. Overall, the Calgary Tower is well worth a visit for its unparalleled views and historical significance, particularly for first-time visitors to Calgary. Its combination of scenic beauty, informative displays, and cozy ambiance makes it a rewarding stop, best enjoyed on a clear day.
Jeremie M — Google review
Visiting Calgary Tower is a must for anyone coming to Calgary! The ride to the top is an amazing experience — the panoramic view of the city and the mountains on the horizon is truly breathtaking. Standing on the glass floor is especially thrilling — it takes your breath away, but it’s absolutely worth it! The staff are friendly and welcoming, and everything is well organized and efficient. The restaurant at the top has a great atmosphere and a view you just can’t look away from. A fantastic place to feel the scale of Calgary and take stunning photos. Highly recommended!
Дмитрий — Google review
The Calgary Tower turned out to be an excellent stop on our trip. Admission is roughly half the price of Toronto’s CN Tower, and since the Calgary Tower is about half the height, it feels like a perfect trade-off—great value without compromising the experience. We timed our visit for around sunset and it couldn’t have been better. The views of downtown Calgary, the Bow River, and the Rockies glowing in the evening light were absolutely stunning. From the glass floor to the 360-degree panorama, every angle offered something memorable. Overall, the Calgary Tower provides amazing scenery and a fair price point that makes it easy to recommend. If you can, plan your visit for sunset—you’ll catch the city at its most beautiful.
Kenneth G — Google review
It was definitely worth going once! You get to see the city from a view point that’s quite amazing. However it is super important to figure out what time you should go there. I wouldn’t go again though because I do not think the ticket prices are worth multiple visits.
Viraj M — Google review
We didn't buy the ticket to the top but we had a dinner in 360 sky restaurant at the top of the tower. The foods were out of the world and the price was right for a sky tower restaurant. We spent $200 incl tips there, while we spent $500 in Look up tower restaurant in Vancouver, ever the foods here much better than Vancouver. We don't have to wear fancy dress here, casual is okay.

Historic Sites
Heritage Park, located in Calgary, is a captivating destination that showcases the rich tapestry of Western Canadian history. Spanning over 127 acres, this living heritage museum features the Heritage Park Historical Village, Gasoline Alley Museum, and Heritage Town Square. Visitors can immerse themselves in both indoor and outdoor experiences throughout the warmer months from May to Thanksgiving. The park comes alive with seasonal re-creations featuring actors who bring history to life through engaging performances.
A few months back our family had a wonderfully relaxing day at Heritage Park! It was the perfect spot to slow down, take in some history, and just enjoy being together. My 9-year-old son loved exploring the old-fashioned buildings, riding the vintage train, and seeing how people lived in the past. One of the highlights was the paddlewheel boat ride on the Glenmore Reservoir. It was such a peaceful experience, giving us beautiful views and a chance to just sit back and enjoy the moment. The staff throughout the park were friendly and knowledgeable, making history come to life in such a fun way. We also spent some time at the antique midway, where my son had a blast with the old-school rides. And of course, no visit would be complete without a stop at the bakery for some delicious homemade treats! Heritage Park is a great place for families looking for a mix of education and relaxation. It was a perfect day—no rushing, just enjoying the sights, sounds, and experiences of the past. We’ll definitely be coming back!

A fun, festive, and educational experience for everyone. The Park has an assortment of activities, rides, food, civic museums, and heritage architecture emphasizing the cultural significance of early Prairie settlement/life. It's like taking a step back in time, and it's worth every dollar. 11/10 do recommend.
Will F — Google review
Heritage Park in Calgary is a fantastic destination for a family outing. The park stands out for its welcoming policy on food and drinks, allowing visitors to bring their own and enjoy a picnic-like atmosphere—a rare perk that saves a lot on expenses compared to other parks where you can easily spend over $100 just on meals. Though tickets are on the pricier side at $36 for adults and $26 for kids, the experience is worth every penny. The park is meticulously managed, from parking to rides and everything in between. It’s incredibly clean, with free water fountains and spotless washrooms, ensuring a comfortable visit. Highly recommended for a day of fun and relaxation!
Abdul S — Google review
Really enjoyed coming here. It's like Disneyland, but better, because you can actually learn something about actual frontier life and how Alberta came about as opposed to some fantasized version of how things were. Plus, the Vaudevillian performances were really entertaining. There was something that happened, I don't want to go into the details, but I want to take a chance to thank the staff for handling the incident professionally and being very kind to me and my party.
龔振勝 — Google review
An absolutely wonderful place! The ticket price is well worth it, as it covers more than just a visit to a village—it's an immersive experience. During your visit, you'll watch over five short theater performances, each lasting at least 30 minutes, depicting the rich history of the area. The actors and actresses are incredibly talented, making the stories come to life. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and felt that one day isn't enough to fully appreciate everything this place has to offer. The staff members are all kind and helpful, providing excellent explanations about the site, especially the lady in the mine. You can begin your journey from the parking lot by taking a charming streetcar ride.Unfortunately, the gift shops didn’t have any magnets from this village, which was a bit disappointing.
Niki A — Google review
This is such a wonderful place to visit. Everyone here always makes sure that you are having a good time. Everyone is in costume and stays true to the character they are portraying. There is a steam engine train you can ride as well at the steam ship that goes out along the reservoir. There are tractor rides and horse-drawn wagon rides, all of which are free with admission. There are midway rides for people of all ages. The general store and ice cream shop sell delicious treats, and the bakery is always making fresh baked items for sale. Every exhibit is authentic and has a plaque to describe its original location. There is so much to do that you can easily spend a full day here and not see everything there is to see.
Amanda — Google review
I really enjoyed this place. Wow! If you have children, they will enjoy it as well. I recommend going on the steam locomotive at Shepard Station or riding the S.S. Moyie first (in the same area) then do the other after. After experiencing these attractions, wander the property. Cool off with a local brew at the Wainwright Hotel & Bar Room.
The T — Google review
Truly amazing experience! All employees were very friendly and welcoming. So much things to do and have fun. We were visiting Calgary for the first time and Heritage Park was the best part of the trip. My son had a blast riding a real steam train. All the family had great time.

Glenbow Museum, founded in 1966 by Eric Lafferty Harvie, is a prominent art and history museum in Canada. It houses an extensive collection of over 33,000 works dating back to the 19th century, featuring historical, modern, and contemporary pieces from North America. The museum also boasts the largest non-governmental research center in Canada for artists and historians.
A truly fascinating place to visit. The atmosphere here is unique — calm, inspiring, and full of history. Every corner seems to tell its own story, and the exhibits are displayed in a way that draws you in. I enjoyed spending my time here, wandering slowly and taking it all in. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back and explore it all over again.
Richard D — Google review
Such an interesting place to visit, lots of interesting things on display, and so much history to learn about. The permanent collections are quite good, but I also really enjoy the exhibits which change, as they it freshen things up. I recently learned about the extensive collections this museum actually holds, and I hope with the new place that they rotate more, as it’s really good to learn more about our history in Alberta, Canada, and the world.
Darryl S — Google review
Visited during their First Thursday of the Month free admission and it was really crowded but worth the visit! They have four floors with lots of exhibits like Calgary history, pre-historic time, Minerals, artifacts, collections and contemporary arts. It’s a good place to visit if you’re in Stephen Avenue area so you could get a little history about the city👌
Nomad_paul — Google review
Amazing art history museum! Beautiful exhibits highlighting deffoerent art mediums like pencil, paint and sculpture. Great inclusion of inuit and indigenous artists and culture. I especially loved the Mankind exhibit and the pencil art exhibit. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town and in mood to see some astounding art. Although, there is currently a huge renovation going on where the 3rd and 4th floors are closed, maybe even for while. Also, they need ticket reservations online with certain time slots.
Justina H — Google review
We were lucky as when we got to the museum they told us it was free for everyone! We thought it would be crowded, but it was not. There were plenty of people but did not feel uncomfortable, there was plenty of room for everyone to move around and look at the exhibitions. Warriors is one of our favorite exhibits. I have seen lots of armors before, but did not know how they made them, here we learned so much! Also the mineral exhibit is amazing, worthwhile visiting, kids loved it. Visiting the museum takes time, we could not see all of it, but are planning a second visit. This is a great museum!
Cristina A — Google review
Wonderful museum with always lots of exhibits to look around. I think it is because of a sponsor but every first Thursday of the month is free entry for everybody to have a look around the museum. As a student, this is a blessing. I was fortunate enough to look at the exhibit on the indigenous community of Canada (Alberta to be specific) named 'Niitsitapiisinni: Our Way of Life'. It was a beautiful exhibit and well put together too.
Priya L — Google review
The best museum I've been to. Some of the stands are interactive. Great source of inspiration. Seems somewhat modest when you come in but the moment I spoke to the receptionist I knew this was gonna be good. Very kind people willing to help you, guide you and, if you go on your own you don't miss a thing since everything is very intuitive. Highly recommended both as a personal experience as well as a group visit
W. N — Google review
The Genbow is and always has been an excellent museum. It is not huge but they do a great job with the space. There is always a visiting exhibit. Hands on exhibits and the regular exhibits. I had not been for a while and they really upgraded several of the exhibits. I also find that the price is very reasonable for a museum of this type. Definitely worth a visit.

Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, is a contemporary museum in Calgary's East Village. The 160,000 square-foot facility features five floors of hands-on exhibitions showcasing Canadian music history and various artists. Visitors can explore interactive displays, rare instruments and artifacts, including Elton John's piano. The center also offers daily performances and guided tours for an engaging experience. Whether you're a music enthusiast or not, Studio Bell's unique architecture near City Hall station makes it worth a visit.
was blown away by the architecture, especially the fifth-floor view and 300-seat Performance Hall. It was one of the most amazing architectural experiences of my life! I was lucky to capture this beautiful artwork with my humble iPhone.

Glad to have tried this place on free admission day with toddlers. Cool space with multiple floors. You can try out various instruments. I would say if you’ve got toddlers you might as well just go to Long & McQuade until they are older as there isn’t much else for them here so you could save the entrance fee. Cool designs, general space, art, etc.
Marta B — Google review
Full of Canadian and American music, musician information, history, clothing, instrumental artifacts, interactive exhibits, and visuals, all set in an incredibly cleverly designed architectural experience. Check out senior prices on Wednesdays. Parking is nearby in a parkade. You can quickly purchase tickets at the front desk and move through the exhibit at your pace. We found two hours was plenty.
Anne P — Google review
What an amazing place. Not only the building but the collection of music artifacts. 5 floors of amazing music items to look at read and watch. Try your hand at our of the many instruments. Guitar, drums, piano. Lots to read and enjoy. Easy parking right beside the studio. We spent clse to 3 hours because we took our time reading doing lots. Washrooms on every floor.
Brad D — Google review
Took advantage of the free admission on Canada Day and finally visited this intriguing National Music Centre. Although it was quite crowded, the architecture was truly impressive. I took some photos and found that converting them to black and white gave them a stronger sense of texture.
Ye T — Google review
This is a beautiful facility! If you are a music lover, and/or interested in instruments it’s a great place to visit. I love that they have instruments out that you can play.
C P — Google review
Quite simply a musical paradise for any and all who enjoy music and the history of how it has influenced society and people through the years. A celebration of music highlighting all that Canada has done for this outstanding piece of art.
Brian H — Google review
Came on a saturday afternoon. Thankfully it wasn't busy at all and there was lots of room to wander around. I liked the more interactive areas where you could listen to music, learn to play an instrument or look at the cool costumes. The architecture of the place is amazing, I was more interested in the architecture than the museum exhibits.

Prince's Island Park, located in the heart of Calgary, is a former sawmill site transformed into an urban oasis. It offers picnic areas, winding trails, and regular major events. The park features historical landmarks like the Deane House and River Cafe, as well as sculptures and art pieces. Visitors can enjoy recreational activities such as canoeing in summer and cross-country skiing in winter.
It's such a beautiful park. Flower arrangements were very creative. The trees are great. Kids' play structure is newer and a lot of fun. The new black squirrels were neat to see for the first time. Only down side was the men's washroom. Two of the toilets were completely disgusting. The place needs an upgrade badly.

Came here for Folk Fest and it did not disappoint! It is an amazing venue to hold such a popular festival. There are multiple stages with remarkably good sound systems and plenty of natural grass to sit on. The breeze from the river sure is welcome under the hot sun 🌞 There is a great big children's playground here that is quite popular. The benches around it are perfect for parents to sit at while letting their kids burn off their energy. In the Spring there are plenty of Canada geese that nest 🪺 and prepare their goslings for life outside the nest. With all of the natural beauty it is a great escape from the urban jungle just across the bridge.
John W — Google review
Super nice quiet park in the heart of downtown. Lots of space, large trees, benches, flower gardens. With the river on both sides it really is a quiet area. Everyone at the park is doing the same thing - just enjoying. Can be super busy on summer weekends or holidays. So bicycling can be a slow process because of the crowds!
Jon C — Google review
Excellent park with broad walkway, washrooms, great view of river and downtown, must visit this park if you are at peace bridge. You can even rent a neuron e bike/scooter to stroll around. Great place to spend a nice evening. Lots of picnic spots were available both shaded and unshaded. Public washrooms were at the River Cafe there is even a playground with lots of kids activity for kids to have fun. Highly recommended park in the heart of Calgary. Parking is mostly on streets on either side of the river. Check out the videos & imaged & follow for more detailed reviews.

Nice park, not far from downtown Calgary if you're on foot. It was cold and windy when we went there, but the parked seemed nice nonetheless. We saw many squirrels and there are beautiful flowers everywhere. Also a good spot to take some pictures of Bow River, but in a sunny day it must be much nicer.
André M — Google review
I parked at the Crescent Heights scenic point and walked into the Prince’s Island Park via the connecting stairs. Pro: I did not need to worry about parking and could instead focus on how BEAUTIFUL the park was and how joyful the people were. Con: I had to walk up a gazillion stairs to get back to my car. Depending on your enthusiasm for cardio, this con can become your pro as I saw a bunch of people exercising by running up and down the stairs. I cannot relate. This may be an ignorant American viewpoint, but are Canadians just that much happier and healthier?? I went on a 2-mile (sorry I don’t know what that is in kilometers) walk around the park and not only did I see beautiful views, I also interacted with lovely people. There were many recreational enjoyers of the park and they took the time to look me in the eyes and smiled at me?? The camaraderie was off the charts. With that said, I feel for the homeowners who live right next to the park because they have to deal with very loud car pollution from the road (side facing Crescent Heights). While walking back to my car, I did have the thought that I should’ve brought my noise canceling headphones because it was so loud that I could not think. If the city of Calgary can invest in safer streets by converting that arterial road into bike and pedestrian paths instead, that would make the park experience that much better. It is my wishful thinking, and I think it could work since driving on that road didn’t seem all that stress-free either. It was clogged up with anxious drivers waiting to get the heck out of there, and it was where I heard the first loud horn during my stay in Canada.
Huong D — Google review
Nice place to take a stroll. It is nice to see the park under every different seasons. You will appreciate to sit on a bench and read a nice book while enjoying the scenery. There is a cafe situated in the park if you want to enjoy a hot beverage. Squirrels and ducks will be your companion in your journey.

I visited this park during July end. The park is very beautiful and clean. The neighborhood is lovely. The park is on the banks of Bow River. Water is dark blue and looks very scenic. However, parking was limited. We went to the peace bridge, and even though it was under construction, the bridge looked beautiful.

The Calgary Stampede is a renowned annual rodeo festival that takes place in a festival space hosting various shows, live music, entertainment, exhibits, and food stalls. This non-profit organization also offers year-round events like exhibitions, galas, concerts, conferences and rodeos. The festival aims to preserve western heritage and culture while engaging the community through youth initiatives and programs.
It is an amazing 10-day event that takes place every year in July!! It contains fair food, rides, exhibitions, concessions, and so much more! The preferred mode of transport to get to this event would be the c-train as it is much easier to get to and from the grounds to. Parking is available around the grounds. However, it is usually very full/busy and expensive as well. Although it is a super busy venue to attend, there is always something for everyone to do. The kids love the fair games, winning prizes and riding the endless selection of rides. I have attended since I was a child with my family, and it is something I look forward to every year. A "Calgarian tradition" for sure. A great place to spend a day or a few, there's a vast availability of fair foods such as corn dogs, corn, ice cream, fries, lemonade, and so much more!

It could have been just the time of your but it was really difficult to get to this event. Many of the streets were closed. We could not get an Uber anywhere. Could not get taxis. The facility itself was decent inside with a good selection of food. The seeding in the stands a bit tight in places didn't appear. It was built with adults with semi-limited ability to get in and out of the area.

It is truly the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. The rides, animals, free swag, sponsored activities, free pancake breakfasts, spirit of the west, cowboy theming, spirit of community, games, and fun new foods are just so exciting and satisfying. The only drawback is that the price for food and drinks has skyrocketed out of control that it drains your wallet dry and takes away from the experience. They need a food price cap and a $2.00, $5.00, $10.00 and $15.00 menu offering or something as the prices for food appear unreasonably high. Other than that, you gotta try the dill pickle pizza as it’s fantastic! The poutine and fish and chips are good too!

Stampede is awesome! Coming for 2 years now and loving it. Such amazing human energy, concerts, and multitude of things to do. Cows, tanks, food, drinks, music, cowboy hats, gotta love it.

The main advice for everyone coming next year: make sure to grab an event map at the entrance. There are many free activities besides the Rodeo, but you won’t find them easily if you don’t know where and when they take place. The Stampede is always crowded, but it’s not only about the Rodeo and food.

Went to the Flames vs Jets hockey game on Saturday November 15 2025 at the Saddledome. Good seats, decent burger and beer special at low pre-game price if get there about an hour before the game starts. Security screening at entry much less intrusive than past years. Staff smile way more. Place very clean. Newer sound system better, but cranked too loud which may be on purpose. Saw little kids with hearing protection head sets on. New center ice screens way better. Good contests anc candid shots of spectators on screens engaged the crowd. Bonus was the Flames win in exciting OT shootout!

If you haven't been to the Calgary Stampede, you need to go, at least once. Billed as The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth you'll want to take in the music (Country of course), food, drinks, rodeo, midway rides, and don't miss the Grandstand Show. No expense spared for the best fireworks display I've seen to end the show. Food wagon options include what you may expect at a fair. Some creative combo's along with the expected, such as a smoked Turkey Leg. (a bit pricey at 33.00). Be prepared for line ups and crowds. Advance purchase of admission tickets eliminates at least 1 line. You'll have a great time if you take in some of this 10 day event, and don't forget your Cowboy hat!
Rudy E — Google review
Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth..actually. The rides were so much fun and the showcases in the BMO Centre were awesome. The food stands around the Stampede were amazing but were highly expensive. Getting here was so bad via CTrain, it is so crowded that they couldn’t let people in because it was packed. It was also crowded in Stampede Park of course due to the tourist influx and because it was first day. It was so much fun exploring every inch of the park, one must go to the stampede at least once every time. Would I go back? Definitely. 8/10.

TELUS Spark Science Centre in Calgary offers an immersive experience with interactive museum exhibits, a children's play area, and an HD planetarium theatre. One of its highlights is the digital immersion gallery featuring an exhibit on quantum physics, turning this complex subject into a visually captivating adventure for all visitors. The center also provides stunning views of the city and opportunities for romantic moments in downtown Calgary.
Attended the Mother's Day Brunch, and it was terrific. There was a great spread with tons of options for the whole family. Very delicious. There were activities for the kids inside the room, allowing us to enjoy our meal while live shows entertained them. We also loved the photo booth and bead bracelet station. We'll do this again next year.

This is around my 3rd time going to Telus Spark and my thoughts are now Confirmed, I had went to the Infinity Dome, The Snack Shop, and others! The Snack Shop had some cool stuff to eat but some were a bit… overpriced. But the movie, Me and my Friend-group went to watch Hazelnuts (A 25 Minute Animated Show) Then we explored the Areas (I had initially forgotten the category names) We tried the Bed with nails (It was more uncomfortable than Scary, My friend said “I did it with out the pillow do not recommend”) They also have a Sensory test, where they have you taste gummy bears and ask you questions on what you taste! And there was a Booth where you take photos! (Doesn’t Print it out) but since I don’t remember if it has a name or not, I’ll be calling it the “Digital Photo Machine”

Visited on a Friday. Despite some good reviews, not worth the cost. So many of the activities and exhibits were "closed for repair " or simply closed with no explanation. (Photos of some of many that were closed. The VR zone sould have been open when we were there. We were told it was closed and summarily dismissed. ) Plenty of staff around who were uninterested in engaging with clients. The displays that were functional were unimpressive. The cafeteria wouldn't serve us at 2pm although it said it was open until 3pm. The toilets were filthy. The toddler toilet was "closed for repair". Handicap buttons for doors were worn so that identification paint wasn't visible. Doubtful this place could pass a fire inspection. I recommend the zoo or Heritage Park or Bell Media Centre. This place needs an overhaul of its management, board of directors, and basic priorities.

We had such a fantastic time at the Telus Spark Science Centre! This place is truly a five-star experience, thoughtfully designed with something for everyone, regardless of age or ability. It's the perfect blend of a science center and a children's museum, making it ideal for toddlers and young kids. The Creative Kids Museum was a definite highlight. It felt like a traditional children's museum with all the climbing spaces and water feature area you'd expect, but with a clever scientific twist. We especially loved the simple machines with adjustable ramps and the building tubes. They even had a soft play area for non-walkers, which was a huge plus. We also really enjoyed the opportunity to use a tool to cut cardboard—it was a unique and engaging activity. Even though a few spaces were closed for updates, we honestly didn't feel like we were missing a thing. There was still so much to see and do that we didn't get to explore everything! We saw a live demonstration and got to work in Steven's Lab, a hands-on opportunity to tinker and form scientific hypotheses. There was so much to do, I actually felt bad having to pull my daughter away to try and see as much as we could before nap time. The outdoor space was another highlight. It offered a great chance for kids to run, jump, and explore in a different environment. We went on a great day—it wasn't packed, though I imagine it might be during holidays or later in the school year with school trips. I even declared to my husband that if we lived in Calgary, I would get a membership. There is just so much to see and do here that it's worth coming back for again and again. Overall, Telus Spark is a must-visit. It's an incredibly well-designed space that seamlessly combines fun and learning.

Seems to have a lot of very outdated areas and ideas. Could make this centre so much more interesting and engaging. It was pretty much boring chaos. Telus spend some money on this centre ! Make it fun and more relevant. Wld not go back or bring out of town visitors. They do have a few interesting areas but Very expensive for a subpar experience. So many kids touching everything which is great but few sanitizing stations. Bring your own. Some instructions difficult to figure out or area is too basic to be interesting or learn something or too complex with no assistance or the area is not working at all. The computer 'take apart ' area had no small tools to take them apart only 3 huge screwdrivers that fit nothing. No instruction of what to do or what the parts were. Kids were prying and stabbing at the boards with the large screwdrivers! The whole area was a disaster of pieces. Several other areas were out of order. The welding kept jumping back to the computer to reload. Staff not available to help reset. VR had one person setting up for 4 ppl. It took at least 5 min to attached everything and prob 5 to take away items after, sanitize them and get next group for a experience that was 3 min long. Such a long wait >45 min for a 3 min experience. Did see a show. It was OK. Theatre itself is nice. The robodog was the hit. Bed of nails and the toilet. 3 things really. Disappointing for the cost for 2 people. Yes parking is 12$ no choices. Not walkable from the LRT. Wanted it to be fun 😏

The Calgary Zoo, located on St. Georges Island in the Bow River, has been a popular attraction since 1917. It officially became a zoo in 1929 and now houses about 1,000 animals across seven zones including Destination Africa, Canadian Wilds, Penguin Plunge, and more. The annual Zoo Lights event during New Year's Eve is a magical experience for families with thousands of colorful lights creating a festive atmosphere.
I live in the Edmonton area and I will always make the trip to come see this zoo before going to the Edmonton one. They have great exhibits here and they are laid out well with a great representation of the animals habitat. If your going through the best time is the early morning when they open so it's not too hot out and you'll see more of the animals. Also I believe you can see when the feed times are online for each animal as well. They have a great animal selection here, and I feel like they treat the animals very well here. I have been to zoos all over the world and this is by far one of the best in the way of animal treatment and habitat sizes. The zoo is licensed as well so if it's a hot day you can buy a beer and walk around with it, also I recommend ordering your tickets online and skipping the line to buy tickets especially on the weekend.

World class zoo, props to the staff members maintaining, up-keeping the place and also caring for the animals. We visited in the Fall and had a lovely time strolling through the entire vicinity while blessed with good weather and blue skies. Highlights for me were the Grey Wolves, Grizzly Bears, Penguins, Lemurs, Meerkets, Pallas’s Cat, Flamingoes, Porcupines, but really all animals we saw amazed us. Sad that we didn’t manage to see the Snow Leopards and Red Pandas. Clean and lovely enclosures with well maintained flora and fauna. We spent almost three hours pure walking through all enclosures but one can definitely spend half a day or a full day here. Great experience !

Great zoo. Always worth a visit whenever we’re in Calgary. The site is well laid out. We find it most enjoyable by keeping our visit shorter than longer. Trying to see everything in one visit can be physically difficult especially on a warm day. Weekends will generally be busy.

Went in the off season in September and October. Cafeteria could use more vegetarian options, prices are quit high as well. Couldn't find a good coffee anywhere and gift stores are pricey. Animal inclosures clean but small in my opinion. Love the volunteers. Animals seem healthy and well fed. Cute baby animals

I really love this place and visit it often. You can enjoy a peaceful walk, admire nature, and watch the animals. There are cozy spots to grab a bite and buy souvenirs. If you get cold, there are heated indoor pavilions. It’s especially beautiful during the holiday season when the entire zoo lights up at night with festive decorations. In winter, there’s also an ice rink and a kids’ carousel. A wonderful place for peace and relaxation right in the heart of Calgary.

Loved my experience at the Calgary Zoo! The variety of animals is impressive and you could easily spend all day here. There's especially lots of things to occupy a family with children. The African section was especially impressive as you can get pretty close to some large animals that we aren't used to seeing in Canada. The staff is often feeding or taking care of animals around the park and this interaction keeps the animals moving about, which is interesting to watch. Didn't catch any sights of a few notable beasts like the polar bear and a few others but overall there is a wonderful selection and most of the animals were fairly active. The lemurs and the meer cats are especially fun to watch. The dinosaur section was a little less interesting only because there are no actual live animals obviously, but kids would likely love it. Would likey visit this place regularly if I lived in Calgary. Apparently it can sometimes be slightly cheaper to reserve your tickets online in advance. Highly recommend place to visit if you're in Calgary!

I love the zoo, and even more so now that I have a little one. The animals all seemed to be in good spirits and well loved and taken care of. We got to see some local wildlife (not sure what bird it is) and many of the flowers in the butterfly exhibit were in bloom. They also had a bunch of new babies!! Meerkats, tapirs, and gorillas! Wonderful time and definitely worth buying a year round pass!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable Experience at the Calgary Zoo! The Calgary Zoo is truly a gem! From the beautifully maintained grounds to the wide variety of animals from around the world, every part of the visit was enjoyable. The enclosures are thoughtfully designed to mimic natural habitats, and the animals seem well cared for and active. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, happy to answer questions and share fun facts. I especially loved the Penguin Plunge and the Land of Lemurs—so interactive and immersive! Perfect for families, couples, or solo visitors. It's educational, fun, and a great way to spend the day. Highly recommend visiting—this place exceeded all expectations!

We walked through the eastern half of the park, and it took a couple of hours. This part of the park consists of prairie landscape and some bushes near the Fish Creek river. It was a little bit monotonous, but we found a few interesting places. It'd be better if you came here with bicycles. I really want to explore more wild west parts of the park.

I found the variety of landscapes refreshing. There are quiet spots by the river perfect for reflection or even a picnic, and more open areas where you can feel the breeze and soak in the sun. Wildlife is abundant here, making it easy to spot birds, deer, and even the occasional beaver. For me, Fish Creek is more than just a park—it’s a place to relax, reset, and appreciate nature. If you’re in Calgary and looking for an outdoor adventure that doesn’t take you far from the city, this park is a must-visit!

The is a year round park and some lots close at night. Camping is not permitted. This is a provincial park within the city of Calgary. Spending evening in the fish creek neighbourhood is just soothing. No amenities or shops in the area. It has large playgrounds, river bank, pond, scenic beauty and very less crowd m. It’s a nice spot to take an evening walk.
Juhi L — Google review
I have visited the Fish Creek Provincial Park three times in a month time; nevertheless, I have not yet explored it completely, for it is the second largest urban protected natural area in Canada that sprawls in an area of over 13.4 square kms. The enormous park provides picturesque natural scenes of forest area, grassy lands, lots of hills of various heights, creek, ponds, lakes, and over hundred trails and roads. I have yet to explore the southern side of the enormous park where Sikome Lake is situated. I intend to visit the park again to see some wild animals, birds, and the lake, soon. The park has more than 100 km paths of paved and unpaved trails as well as plenty of beaten paths for activities such as walking, jogging, running, cycling, ascending and descending hills, and capturing natural scenes of wildlife's flora and fauna. The creek that gives an impression of a mighty, long river is a prepossessing part of the park. There are some benches to relax and tables to enjoy picnic with your family and/or friends at several places and near the creek. Also, there are clean washrooms at different places in the park and along the creek. Today, for the fourth time, I visited the park. I went to the Sikome Lake which was way more beautiful and bigger than I had thought after seeing some of the pictures. Although there is an entry fee and a weekday, there were hundreds of people on a Wednesday evening. Had I not gone to the lake, I wouldn't have been able to see the extremely beautiful part of the park. Anyone visiting Calgary must add this park in their things to do in the beautiful city.

Military Museums
The Military Museums in Calgary is a large complex of eight museums that showcase the history of the naval, army, and air force, as well as a gallery dedicated to human conflict. The museum is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, with the Cold War Hangar open from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission fees vary by age and group type.
This military museum is surprisingly large. We spent about 2.5 hours at this museum and had a great time. It is unique in that most military museums are arranged by specific wars, but this one is arranged to follow specific regiments or battalions. It would take 4 hours or more to read all the history on the panels that span several large rooms. Also unique to this museum is the mannequins that are a part of the war replicas, each posing to fit the scene. Looking at other reviews, I expected to see only about 15 of these scenes but there are closer to 75 I would say. Definitely worth the time.
David S — Google review
There is SO much to see here! We spent about 5 hours exploring and still felt like we could have easily stayed longer. We happened to visit on a day with a special outdoor event, which was such a nice surprise and added to the experience. The exhibits are fascinating and full of history and artifacts. My only suggestion for improvement would be to have staff inside the museum to share information, context, and first-hand knowledge about the displays. At other similar museums we’ve visited, having that interaction has really enriched the visit. That being said, the security guard outside was incredibly knowledgeable, and it was so interesting speaking with him about his experiences and insights. He knew things that even the people running the outdoor event didn’t know. The pricing for a family is very fair, and overall this is an amazing place for anyone interested in history. Highly recommend setting aside a good chunk of your day, there’s truly so much to take in.

They have real world Veterans teaching you. This place is loaded with so much information and education and fun. The props/statues are excellently executed. Space is huge, A really really great space for family, friends, School, people that want to learn about Canadian history. Very glad I was able to visit here and will be back as 2 hours was not enough time. They have real life fighter jets. If you want to learn something cool or take some really cool photos, go here for sure.

My boyfriend is into engineering feats such as planes and jets, and he was very excited and delighted to visit here (we are from out of town). I am not much of a military or history buff but the amount of visual artifacts and pieces of Canadian military history displayed and laid out in exhibits here was fascinating for even me to read about and consider. There were some full size planes in the hangar and veterans who had flown them were volunteering their time on the Saturday that we were here. That was very impressive for me. Definitely worth visiting even if you have only a marginal interest in such things. You could spend hours here as there is a great density of information and it is displayed in really accessible ways

Why is there no six star option for this place!? Special shout-out to the two veterans manning the Cold War Sabre/Starfighter exhibit, the veteran who walked us through the Highland regiments exhibit, and the volunteer at the RCAF exhibit who told us to look for the secret tunnel. So very knowledgeable and very engaging. This museum is a must see if you're in Calgary, it truly is a gem. So many excellent exhibits and stories of Canada's military history and so much hardware to have a look at. You must visit this place! That's an order!

Wow, this is an amazing piece of Canadian history! There was so much to absorb, I couldn't read all the dioramas or stories. As Canadians the least we can do is read the stories of the how our forefathers sacrificed themselves for our freedom to vote and decide our futures. And so much amazing equipment everywhere. So many cool things and weapons. Who says Canadians can't fight? Reminds me of heady times when we used to have honor and a big stick. I'll have to be back for more!

My husband, a former reservist and military history enthusiast, and I were happy to make a return visit to The Military Museums in Calgary. This is the second-largest military museum in Canada. It has 8 museums at this location; navy, army, air. There is an incredible team of staff and docents, including many veterans. They are welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. We received a free, 60-minute personal tour by a retired history teacher (I'm sorry, I can't recall his name) of the section dedicated to the Army. It was amazing. The collection is massive and in rotation as only a portion is on display at any one time in this huge complex so you'll see new things each time you visit. If you're ever in Calgary, go!

I'm Mexican, but I grew up in Costa Rica and now live in Canada. This place is simply breathtaking. I've been passionate about history since I was 19 and read a lot about World War I, the interwar period, and World War II. Visiting this museum was a dream come true. I had the opportunity to see a Sherman tank, a Soviet T-72, and, most importantly, the legendary T-34. I also saw a replica of the torpedo that put my favorite battleship, the KMS BISMARCK, out of action. I highly recommend this place; it's the best museum I've ever had the privilege of visiting and learning about.

This was a pleasant surprise. Lots of different planes, including access to look into the cockpit of most of them. Displays of different engines and other parts of old war planes on display. If I could give this place zero even negative stars, I would. $17 just to see one side of the museum because the elevator is far too small for a wheelchair. I was there with my participant, who uses a wheelchair, and we couldn’t even go upstairs to see the rest of the place. It’s 2025 there is absolutely no excuse for such poor accessibility. Designing an elevator that doesn’t fit a wheelchair is unacceptable. Management needs to fix this IMMEDIATELY….

This was my seventh or eighth visit but my first time for The National and first time purely as a spectator. As always, there was top show jumping, beautiful immaculate grounds, free parking. The ticket prices are affordable, too. We had a great day out. Will be back again. Happy 50th Spruce Meadows and thank you!

I met some Brits in the hot tub of my hotel & they told me they are in town to do "horse jumping" at Spruce Meadows. I've never heard of that, so I went to check it out. From the parking lot attendants, to tickets, to ushers, everyone was welcoming, warm & friendly! Parking was free, admission was $25, it's clean, has beautiful decor, ample shopping & places to eat, two rings to see shows. I saw my hotel friends at the international ring. Got to see the "musical ride" from the Canadian Mounted Police. See 2 main competitions and it was wonderful! 50th Anniversary, and the 'Masters". I got to see the world Blacksmith competition make horse shoes. At the end see the English Royal Guards, a military band, play at the final ceremony! This was a picture perfect day! To my hot tub pals, it was a pleasure to see you perform! I highly recommend you give this a try! Love everything about this place! ❤️

My review of "The Masters" at Spruce Meadows. It was a fantastic family fun day with so much to see and do. The highlight for us was definitely the kids' area. The face painting, button making, petting zoo, and bounce house were a real treat for my toddler, and she absolutely loved it. She also had a blast watching the dogs on the obstacle course and, of course, enjoyed all the delicious food and treats available throughout the grounds. The train ride was a bit underwhelming for the adults, as it was a little hard to see and had to stop to avoid scaring the horses, but it was nice to see a few horses in their stalls and get a close-up view.

The Christmas market was just what I needed to get some spirit running through the veins. The Christmas lights are so fabulous. Recommend going when the sun goes down. Leave before the end because traffic is crazy!!

Always such a fun experience. Horse jumping is truly an under appreciated sport. The team work between rider and horse is beautiful to watch. Whether you know the sport or not it’s something to experience . Spruce meadows is always so beautiful, lots of fun things to do.

Great experience, lots of different events from Masters tournament to corgi rase, as well as the Christmas market with Christmas lights. There is something happening every year here. If a tourist, it’s a must place to visit while in Calgary

Always love a day trip to spruce meadows. It’s a gorgeous venue I do recommend timed entry or limits on tickets as it does get too crowded to move after 1pm at the indoor parts of the market So many vendors I missed just don’t Not being able to get over to see them

Great facility, lots of activities for families and kids aside from watching the show jumping: Prairie Dogs, pony rides, wallk through the stables, food trucks and fair games. Covered and uncovered/grass seating available. Show jumping is always incredible!

Calaway Park is a seasonal amusement park located in Western Canada, offering over 30 rides, stage shows, a 3D theatre, and midway games. It has been providing affordable and family-friendly entertainment for more than thirty years. The park's one-pay gate system allows unlimited access to rides, attractions, live shows, and street performers like stilt walkers and jugglers.
Calaway Park is a fantastic family destination! I've visited multiple times with my wife and our kids (ages 6 and 3), and each trip has been a joy. While some rides are age-specific and not suitable for younger children, there's still plenty to enjoy. The atmosphere is vibrant, the staff are friendly, and the park offers a wholesome experience for all ages. From gentle rides to engaging shows and play areas, our kids were entertained throughout. It's a great spot for creating lasting family memories. We will definitely be back!

Great amusement park for kids and parents/families, and lots of stuff for teens too. So many rides toddlers can go on if they are tall enough. Even when the parking is packed it is not too big of a wait for a lot of the smaller rides. The water rides are a long wait and close an hour before closing time. Lots of bathrooms around. Lots of food options. Shaved ice and pineapple dole whip is vegan. Cool Halloween vibes when summer season is over. Decorated all throughout the park.
Marta B — Google review
Coming into the parking lot, everyone was parking to the left as it looks like they are building something on the right. They have lots of people waving you in telling you where to park. They have many booths to pay for your tickets as you go in. I do recommend buying your ticket online before going in. When you went to the park you can go to the left or to the right. I recommend going to the roller coaster first. The lineups can get quite long. The roller coaster and the log ride usually get the longest lines. The staff is very friendly and the park is very clean. I do find the water is expensive there so bring your own water to drink. They do have an area with lots of picnic tables for you to have a lunch. I have a 2 year old and he could go on about nine rides. When my daughter was 9 she could go on every single ride. Overall I do like this park. I do believe it is time to add some new rides. We went September 14th and they had Halloween days starting. They had parades and they had people dressed up everywhere.
Stephanie M — Google review
The park is great, especially for kids and probably some teenagers up to around 14 years old. There are lots of fun rides for children, bright swings, and a Parade of Fairy-Tale Characters (they were handing out delicious candies). We also bought some food — the fries were very tasty. There are small lines for the restrooms. We’ll definitely visit this place again!

I visited Calaway Park and had a fantastic time! The park was spotless, the staff were super friendly, and the atmosphere was full of energy. It’s clearly a perfect spot for families—so many smiling kids and parents enjoying the day. Whether you’re with a group or on your own, it’s a fun, well-run park that’s worth the visit!

IF YOU WANT A GREAT PLACE TO TAKE THE WHOLE FAMILY, THIS IS IT! Amazing experience! They have rides for kids rides for adults, add rides for really small kids as well! There are lineups and that long. The most We ever waited was about half an hour. It is $52 to get in the dollars to get in the door if you are 13 to 65 years of age.

Great value. Lots of rides and activities for my 5 and 7 year old kids. Did not have to wait more than 5-10 minutes for the rides. We would come back for sure. We liked the magic show.

Fun lil park. Definitely for kids - we had fun for maybe 2 hours and that’s all there is to do as an adult. It’s closer to Calgary - the only perk. There were some rides that charge you additional $2-$5 on top of the entry ticket. Haunted house was a joke. Extremely long queues. Overpriced snacks and drinks. Meh! If you want to visit on a weekend, plan ahead cos parking is going to take you a long time.

The Peace Bridge in Calgary is a modern, striking red pedestrian and bike bridge designed by renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. It has become an iconic symbol of the city's urban landscape and is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. The bridge offers engaging views of downtown's modern architecture, Princes Island, and the new St. Patrick's Island. Visitors can also enjoy nearby attractions such as Princes Island Park, where they can have a picnic lunch or relax at the playground.
July 2025 5* Peace bridge is one of the recommended place if you are visiting Calgary. It is located in downtown along the beautiful park. The view was really nice in the evening. There is nice sitting area around the bridge and some shop if you are feeling hungry. You can walk around and also go to the Prince Island Park. It’s very is perfect for picnic spot and relaxation. The river flow is amazing. You can do fishing.

Peace Bridge is an absolute gem that deserves every bit of praise! Walking across this iconic bridge is such a unique experience—you get stunning panoramic views of the water and the surrounding skyline, making it perfect for photos or just soaking in the scenery. The bridge itself is beautifully designed and incredibly well-maintained, giving a sense of calm and safety as you stroll along. What makes it truly special is the atmosphere—you can feel the peaceful vibe that inspired its name. Whether you’re visiting for a short walk, some sightseeing, or just to enjoy a moment of tranquility, it’s the perfect spot. I also loved how accessible it is and how easy it is to combine with nearby attractions for a full day of exploring. If you’re in the area, don’t miss out on Peace Bridge—it’s one of those places that leaves a lasting impression and makes you appreciate the simple beauty of a well-loved landmark. Definitely a 5-star experience!

The peace bridge was wonderful! The only downfall was trying to figure out at the time of night that we were there was where we were supposed to be parked, and at what times that you had to pay to park. The signs were very confusing on that aspect. Other than that, it was a very beautiful, very nice Experience!

Glad to have stopped by this bridge. Access is a bit of chore from the north end but it’s easy enough to find. The bridge is nicely divided for bikes and pedestrians so crossing isn’t hazardous. Nice views of the city and the river. Quiet and peaceful this time of the year.

I had a wonderful experience visiting the Peace Bridge. The day was sunny, and the calm river flowing beneath created such a relaxing atmosphere. I spotted ducks on one side and geese on the other, adding to the charm of the place. It’s a perfect spot for a peaceful walk, surrounded by nature, yet just steps away from downtown Calgary.

I recently visited Piece Bridge, and overall, it was a very pleasant experience. •The bridge provides lovely views of the surrounding area, especially at sunrise and sunset. It’s a nice spot for taking photos or simply pausing to appreciate the landscape. •Design & Structure: The architecture is simple but elegant. The clean lines and sturdy construction make it both attractive and reliable. •The bridge is easy to access, with smooth walking surfaces suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. •The area is well-maintained, and there wasn’t much litter.

It's a bridge that connects one side to the other. Very walkable area with tails. If you're lucky enough during the summer, you might come across festivals/activities happening around the area. I came across the Expo Latino festival and the India Independence Day celebration. It was cool to take pictures

A must see in Calgary! 🤩 ❗️Be careful of the bike lanes in the middle of the bridge. So many people walk on them and it’s very dangerous. On the other side of the bridge there is a construction going on, so the access is restricted. The neighbor around is very calm, with lots of flowers. 🌺 🌸 🌹

The Wonderland Sculpture, also known as "The Big Head," is a 12-meter tall bent-wire sculpture located in front of the Bow building in Calgary. Created by Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa, this iconic installation depicts the head of a young girl and symbolizes youthfulness and growth. Visitors can explore and photograph the sculpture from various angles, including inside it.
An incredibly stunning piece of architecture, this building exudes grandeur and magnificence, with its design embodying a strong sense of ceremony and purpose. Every detail of its construction speaks to its splendor, making it a truly remarkable sight to behold. It is not just visually captivating but also carries an air of significance and sophistication that leaves a lasting impression. Without a doubt, it is a destination well worth visiting, as it offers an unforgettable experience of beauty and architectural excellence.

The Wonderland Sculpture also known as The Big Head, is one of Calgary’s most iconic public art pieces. Standing 12 meters tall in front of the Bow Building, this wire-mesh sculpture of a young girl’s head is both surreal and serene. What I love most is how it transforms depending on where you stand, step inside and the world feels quiet and dreamlike. From the outside, it's a striking architectural statement that draws you in with curiosity. But step inside, and you're transported into something almost meditative – the bustling city noise seems to fade away, replaced by a dreamlike tranquility that's both unexpected and deeply moving. The interplay of light and shadow through the mesh creates an ever-changing interior atmosphere throughout the day. Located perfectly in front of the Bow Building, it's easily accessible and makes for incredible photos, but more importantly, it offers a moment of genuine wonder and reflection in the heart of our busy city. Whether you're a local looking for a peaceful pause or a visitor exploring Calgary's art scene, this sculpture delivers an experience that stays with you long after you leave.

This Sculpture is also known as " Big Head" has become the icon of Calgary ! I was told it's a young girl's head. The amazing part is, if you look at it from different directions , you can see a different face gesture . The place is easy to reach, we took the street train for free ( downtown section is free for everyone) , only one stop, local people told us to get off the train and showed us how to walk there. A very nice experience. It's a pity that we didn't know that we could go inside the Sculpture to take a look. We only took photos outside. All downtown places are easy to reach , you can visit this one on the way to the Calgary Tower .

Devonian Gardens is a lush indoor botanical garden nestled within the Toronto Dominion Square in Calgary, Alberta. This hidden gem features over 20,000 plants, meandering walkways, and a captivating sculpture court under a vast roof garden. Visitors can admire fishponds teeming with rainbow trout, koi carp, goldfish, and turtles while enjoying art exhibitions and performances.
Okay, this is not an extensive Botanical Garden, but it's still a lovely place, in the middle of a shopping center. They have a nice selection of different plants. Love the different textures and blooms. Signage is available to let you know what you are looking at. Some excellent spots for taking photos or selfies. The many people I saw, individuals, couples and families were all enjoying the chance to spend some time indoors (it was a little chilly outside) but still be in nature. Nice :)

A really relaxing setting, I love it! Great to sit solo or with someone and catch up! I grabbed some food and a brew from the food court to the right of the gardens and then found a table within the gardens to eat and relax. The gardens are made up of water features, plants and usually fish in the deeper ponds too, however none this time. There is renovation work going on and has been for years one way or another as I was last here 8 years ago and the gardens were closed!
Jay M — Google review
A great little indoor oasis, good for an especially hot or rainy day. Sadly when we visited the koi pond was closed for renovations, but all of the beautiful plants and flowers and water features were enjoyable. Grab some grub at the food court nearby and soak in the ambience of the greenery.

Beautiful place to spend time. Whenever I come to shop at Simon's, I always stop in the gardens. The koi fish pond was closed due to renovations (sad) but they have updated it so much! Very relaxing atmosphere. Great little indoor park for small kids, very close to the food court. Sitting at the tables inside the gardens even though a public area, still felt very private. Always have a lovely time when I go!

A beautiful, peaceful spot in the heart of downtown ,perfect for lunch breaks or a quiet escape, especially on cold days. The greenery is lush, and seeing little sparrows fly around made it feel extra special. There’s also a small playground for kids. That said, a couple of things could be improved. The garden is located on the 4th floor of a mall, but there weren’t any clear signs or directions to find it ,I had trouble locating it, especially since I was in a bit of a rush. Also, the washrooms in the garden lacked basic supplies like hand soap and paper towels, which was disappointing. Still, a great place to unwind!

An ideal destination for families and couples. You can enjoy a cup of coffee and ski across the expansive area or simply stroll through the park. Additionally, skiing equipment is available for rent, and a free ski helper is provided.
Sveta K — Google review
Bowness Park has always been our favorite Fall spot. It's so beautiful that we keep coming back every year to do our yearly fall photos. It's also a great park during summer as there is a waterpark free for kids. Also, lots of people enjoy the bow river rafting with their own rafts or rental. Some people actually go swimming too, although I'm sure the water will be too cold. Winter is also beautiful as people can ice skate along the park. You can do a walking/biking loop trail from here to Baker Park, which is very easy. You will have to pass a nice bridge that connects the river. Path is open all season. There is also a path at the end (close to the green bridge) going up to the community residential area. People walk or even bike going up there. It is now fully developed. There is a lot of squirrel in the area, which is a treat for the kids. If you need to get drinks, there's a small shop that sells beverages, which is great, especially during the winter season. I love this park as it's very spacious and has a lot to offer. Also summer time if you get lucky, there's a guy that plays music and collects donations for a few charities.

Went there with family, it was the best! Everyone enjoyed the peaceful bow river. Took a long walk and it was 100% worth it. BUT BRING SUNSCREEN AND BUG SPRAY! There are lots of mosquitoes in the season I went, so be prepared! Raft rental available! We went up a ramp and followed a trail. MUST GO ON THAT WALK! there are stairs too if you prefer. A little park with flowers and cute bear statue too! Brings back memories when I went as a kid!!!

Great place to walk around, go for a picnic and BBQ if living in Calgary! There is a boathouse as well at a very reasonable price! You can book your picnic sites by calling 311. During the fall season the views are splendid, you can do fall photography at the best here. There is a cute tiny rail for the toy train as well. Benches, picnic tables are available all around the park. You can also bring your own portable stove and cook at any available picnic table. If you are booking picnic sites then you have your own shed and fire pit to enjoy

A park where you can experience a splendid summer. Despite recent issues, it's still a beautiful neighborhood. If I lived here, I would be so happy. I should come back for a barbecue later. Walking along the quiet paths, it felt like happiness would stay by my side forever. It's a great place to enjoy the leisure of everyday life. It has a different atmosphere from Bow River.

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, established in 1929, is a renowned zoo and park located on a 125-acre facility. It houses over 4,000 animals from more than 100 species and is celebrated for its exceptional animal care and habitat design. With an annual influx of over 1.3 million visitors, the institute aims to educate and inspire guests about wildlife conservation.
Had a wonderful time at the Calgary Zoo! The layout is great, lots of animals to see, and the whole place is really well maintained. It was a super hot day when we visited, so I totally understand that the polar bear was probably chilling indoors with the A/C — though I was a little bummed to miss seeing it. That aside, it was still a fantastic experience — from the playful lemurs to the majestic tigers, there was so much to enjoy. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Calgary, and maybe I’ll catch the polar bear next time when it’s not sunbathing weather!

Had an amazing time at the zoo! The staff were friendly and helpful, and we appreciated how clean and well-maintained everything was. There were also plenty of places to take a break, grab a snack, and just enjoy the surroundings. Washroom available in every area. The staff and volunteers are incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to answer questions or share insights about the animals. The exhibits are engaging and informative, making it a great experience for kids and adults alike. I would highly recommend for any age.

Great way to spend your day. Lots of parking fast lines, lots of animals. Most were pretty sleepy while we were there, except the wolves who were prancing around and coming right up to the glass. Tickets are cheaper if bought in advance. I took way too many photos and had a lovely day.

I love visiting the Zoo with my kids. We have coming for over 20 years now. I started coming when I moved to Calgary over twenty years ago. I have enjoyed seeing all the animals. 20 years ago I loved seeing the kangoos and the elephants. When they had bats I didn't like the bats but that is my own phobia of bats I had since I was a child. I remember seeing the sloth back then and one of favorite animals The Kolas. We love ❤️ seeing the Pink Flamingos 💗 and is one of the first ones we go see now. We love the pandas. My son loves the komodoo dragons they are his favorite. We love the Zoo Christmas Lights. We love seeing the red pandas and Tigers and the various animals and birds and the butterfly exhibits when we go visit the zoo. We always enjoy seeing the animals ❤️. In my son's words it's a really cool experience.

Honestly, the Calgary Zoo is way better than I remembered. The layout is really nice since it’s right on the river, but man, it is a lot of walking just like the Toronto zoo! so definitely wear your best/most comfortable running shoes! The penguin plunge is the winner for me seeing them swim that fast underwater is wild. Also my favorite animal lol. The lemur enclosure where you walk right in with them is super cool too. I’d the food it’s can get pretty pricey for basic burgers. But still delicious! If you wanna save a buck just pack a lunch and eat on a bench or find a nice shaded grass spot. If you go for ZooLights in the winter, dress warmer than you think you need to. It gets windy!

Amazing place for a family day out! We visited with kids and everyone had a great time. The grounds are very clean and well maintained, with lots of shade and beautifully designed animal enclosures. We were especially impressed by the penguins, tigers, and the dinosaur park — so realistic! My little one loved the kids’ zoo where you can feed the goats. Staff were friendly, and the café had a nice variety of food. A perfect spot to spend the whole day with family. We’ll definitely be back!
Yuliia K — Google review
The Zoo is always a great place to visit. However it is a seasonal place, even though they are open year round. We saw lots of animals, but Prehistoric Park was closed along with every food vendor and refreshment stand except for Kitamba Cafe which is an indoor restaurant. I understand this, but my suggestion would be to maybe open certain areas up, weather permitting, so that on the nicer days people still have an opportunity to experience as much as possible. Other than that, it was a great time.
Mikey D — Google review
Lots of construction throughout areas of the park. The only food location opened was by the gift shop, when exiting the zoo; every other food location was closed. Tickets should be discounted during this time. Parking was easy. Staff working in the gift shop were exceptionally friendly.

Stephen Avenue Walk is a vibrant pedestrian street in Calgary, offering a mix of art, dining, shopping, and entertainment options. The area seamlessly connects the city's Arts District, Financial District, and Shopping District along a historic street lined with both early 20th-century sandstone buildings and modern glass office towers. During the bustling noon hour, thousands of downtown workers flock to the avenue for what locals call 'The Power Hour,' using their lunch break to explore the diverse offerings.
This is a wonderful walking street right in the heart of downtown Calgary. There are so many restaurants, coffee shops, and bars to choose from, many of them are good! It's very safe, a lot of police presence and very popular. Great thing to experience in Calgary!

It is always architecturally interesting to blend old buildings with newer glass skyscrapers and add a touch of originality with these metal structures. It sure is nice to look at it. Though, in 2014, there were too many homeless people and visibly ones with mental health/drug issues, just like in Edmonton tbh. It means constantly having to pay attention instead of focusing on what you came for.

Stephen Avenue Walk is a lively pedestrian street in downtown Calgary with a nice mix of restaurants, shops, patios, and historic buildings. It’s great for a casual stroll, people-watching, or grabbing a bite to eat. The architecture adds charm, especially the heritage facades alongside modern towers. That said, some areas feel a bit quieter outside peak hours, and not every stretch is equally vibrant. Still, it’s one of the best spots in the city to experience Calgary’s downtown energy.
Vishaka P — Google review
This street in downtown Calgary is actually quite beautiful, with nice architecture and a lively vibe. Unfortunately, the large number of homeless people really takes away from the experience. It didn’t feel very safe or comfortable walking around. I found myself too anxious to enjoy the area and ended up leaving much earlier than planned. It’s a shame because the street has potential. With better security and support for the area, it could be great. For now, I wouldn’t recommend spending too much time here.
Eva Z — Google review
I really enjoyed spending an afternoon on Stephen Avenue — it’s the perfect mix of Calgary’s history and lively urban vibe. The beautiful old sandstone buildings, historic facades, and all the unique shops and patios make it feel full of character. There’s so much to see and do here — you’ll find cozy cafés, casual pubs, nice sit-down restaurants, and lots of patios that come alive in the summer. I loved grabbing a coffee at one of the local roasters, browsing in the boutique stores, and just people-watching. There’s also plenty of public art and interesting sculptures along the street, plus buskers and street performers that add to the atmosphere. If you feel like exploring more, you can pop into the Devonian Gardens inside the CORE Shopping Centre — a beautiful indoor green space right downtown. Nearby, you’ve got the Glenbow Museum, Olympic Plaza, and historic spots like the Palace Theatre if you want to dive deeper into Calgary’s culture. The street really comes alive during events and festivals too — there’s always something happening. It’s super walkable and safe during the day, and it’s a great place to relax, grab a drink, or just enjoy Calgary’s downtown energy. If you’re visiting the city, don’t miss a stroll down Stephen Avenue — it’s one of the best ways to get a feel for Calgary’s local charm!
Hamid B — Google review
I very much liked the street. It has good restaurants, bars and coffee shops. You would walk and enjoy the crowd, and sight of people having chats and fun. I highly recommend it.
Nina J — Google review
Really nice walk on this street while restaurants around. In the evening with lights and other stuff it gives undoubtedly mesmerizing look. But to keep in mind the thing that this place is in downtown where the problem of vagrants is so much. I went to this place with my family and two vagrants scared my kids and I came back. Place is good but it needs proper security arrangements to keep the visitors safe.
Karan S — Google review
We came in the summer - I’m not sure what I was expecting from Calgary, but this exceeded my expectations. What a fun, vibrant and happening city! This is a young person downtown so if you are young or young at heart, you should come check it out! A lot of bars, people, music, overall - great vibes. This was a really fun place to walk around and experience. You can even try on and purchase some cowboy gear! And there are art installations everywhere! The downtown reminds me of Montreal or Vegas - lot of great people watching and it’s a bit like a party. Just be careful walking around - scooters and bikes are on the sidewalk and often going quickly. I’m not sure why they are all in the sidewalk but that’s something to be aware of.

Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, located in Calgary, is a peaceful haven for birds and people alike. Established over 80 years ago, it's a favorite spot for birdwatchers with 270 different species of birds recorded here. The sanctuary offers picnic facilities, walking trails through forests and open grasslands, an outdoor classroom, and a learning center. Visitors can also explore the fishing pond and learn about local wildlife at the Nature Centre.
Fantastic walk with the family, enjoying God's beautiful scenery. Small museum at the front, side gate on the side of the museum which allows access to the sanctuary. Birds, deer, porcupines, beavers have been seen here. Best time to go, in my opinion, is Fall! See photos.

We took a beautiful walk along the river, where we saw lots of wood ducks, magpies, northern flickers, two sharp shinned hawks and both a juvenile and adult bald eagle. There are benches along the trail that provide peaceful places to sit and watch the river flow by. This sanctuary is close to downtown Calgary with plenty of parking and a very nice visitor center with washrooms. I’d love to visit during the peak of spring and fall migration. I’m sure it’s teeming with birds then!

My visit was thoroughly enjoyable, as the sanctuary offered a serene and picturesque environment. The well-maintained trails are clearly marked, making it easy to navigate through the lush greenery and various habitats that attract a diverse array of bird species. The sanctuary is home to numerous bird species, and I was fortunate to spot several during my visit, including some rare finds. Each trail is designed to enhance the viewing experience, with strategically placed benches and viewing platforms that allow for unobstructed observation of the birds in their natural surroundings. The reception center is impressively designed, providing a welcoming atmosphere with a wealth of information about the sanctuary and its inhabitants. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, offering insights and answering questions with enthusiasm. The center also features clean and well-maintained washrooms, which are a much-appreciated convenience. Overall, Inglewood Bird Sanctuary is a gem in Calgary, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Whether you're a seasoned bird watcher or just looking for a tranquil place to enjoy nature, this sanctuary is well worth a visit. Highly recommended for its beautiful trails, abundant bird life, and excellent facilities.

It’s a nice place to visit with family and kids. My kiddo enjoyed the walk over those bridges and finding new birds. There is a small but beautiful museum through which we start the bird watching walk. It’s a free entry and with beautiful views and so many words.

Lovely area. Fairly large walking path with excellent bridges. Lots of birds, also ran into deer chasing a coyote which was exciting. Birds and thrills. The Colonel Walker House was a neat viewing, historical sight. Lots of nice river areas. In general a beautiful spot and hidden gem in Calgary. Must visit.

Nice and quiet, close to downtown, sufficient parking area, free entrance fee, many benches and some tables with roof over head. A couple of looping routes to follow along (see map). Good spot for relaxing, walking, reading, and wild bird photography hobbyists.

Tons of trails, beautiful colors in the fall, some hidden treasures (archaeological indigenous history)to find that are apparently 1000’s of years old, an off leash dog park(dog must stay in leash till you find the off leash area-well marked), and just a great way to get out of the city within the city.

I decided to pop by here to explore Calgary's nature, and Nose Hill did not disappoint! What a huge and beautiful place, with so much open space and so many trails to follow around. The views and the sense of scale are fantastic, and there's a lot of interesting biodiversity if you look closely.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Nose Hill Park in Calgary! One must experienc this vast spa e affording a panoramic view of Calgary downtown! ! The park is one of the largest urban parks in North America, offering vast open spaces, rolling hills, and breathtaking views of the city and surrounding landscapes. It’s an ideal spot for nature lovers, hikers, and anyone looking to have a nice walk or enjoy solitude! The trails are well-maintained and cater to all levels of fitness. The natural prairie landscape is home to a variety of wildlife, adding an extra layer of excitement to the visit. One must visit in the evening to spot them though! Friends have spotted deer and bob cats! Nose Hill Park is a must-see destination in Calgary. I saw an amazing sunset and would love to visit again

Gorgeous park with panoramic views over the city including downtown Calgary. There’s a variety of trails from more technical mountain biking ones to easy gravel options. There’s multiple places of interest to stop including a rock maze, Glacier hill, rocks, ponds, etc. Most trails are unshaded and requires uphill walking from the parking lot
Kevin W — Google review
I love this park, and I haven’t even had the opportunity (nor do I think I ever will fully) to explore the entire park! I typically start out at the Shaganappi Trail NW entrance. My pup is able to be off leash as soon as we get to the entrance from the parking lot. I love how much off-leash space there is for the pups. And it’s a great walk and view! I can’t wait to experience it in the summer.

I enjoyed a Saturday morning walk across Nose Hill Park. Its the perfect spot for a hike or just a leisurely stroll. The trails are extensive and well maintained, there are some signboards and maps to let you know where you are, and its dog-friendly - dogs are welcome everywhere with some off-leash areas too. The park is enormous and even at the weekend it never feels busy. There's some great view points of downtown Calgary and some other great photo opportunities. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy nature without even having to leave the city.

The Central Library, located in the East Village of Calgary, is a stunning architectural masterpiece that opened in late 2018. Designed by Snohetta and DIALOG architects, it boasts vaulted ceilings, abundant natural light, and unique features such as a steel beam time capsule and a mosaic made entirely of books. The building's facade is an ever-changing display of geometric shapes in various shades.
Came for the famous interior design. The space is large, making it easy to find a quiet corner to relax and read. Parents can bring their children to the kids’ section, and all the little ones seemed very happy. On the second floor, there is a giant chess set to play with. Walking through this building feels like an interesting journey of exploration. Unlike the overly serious atmosphere I imagined for a library, this place allows soft conversations, making the overall experience feel more relaxed and comfortable.

This is the most beautiful and comfortable library I have visited . I love library, and visited most of the libraries that I stayed in that cities. So very impressive. They use many wood and natural night to make the library looks bright and beautiful. Very spacious and comfortable. You can easily find a chair or sofa to enjoy your reading. No need to fight for a seat under pressure . A peaceful place that you don't want to leave.

This is the most amazing library I have ever been in. It was beautiful, inviting and functional. There was such a great variety of seating from casual bar top seating, to comfy chairs and couches, to single tables in quiet or private spaces, to bookable rooms. Also, most tables have plugs. I was in awe. We spent so much time here and it was so lovely. It left us feeling inspired. Thank you to the city of Calgary for creating such an amazing space. It is definitely worth a visit - even if you weren’t planning on taking a book out.

I visited this library more as a tourist, simply to admire how beautiful the place is — but I also ended up reading a book there. I was really impressed! It’s such a lovely, atmospheric space with a huge selection of books. Everyone can find something to suit their taste. I highly recommend visiting — whether you’re just a visitor like me, or a local resident looking for a peaceful spot to read and relax.

For adrenaline junkies seeking adventure all year round, WinSport has something to offer.
This ski resort is absolutely fantastic! The slopes are wide, so there’s no need to worry about collisions. We happened to visit during the World Cup, and even though it was crowded, the lift lines moved quickly. The lifts are beginner-friendly, slowing down at the top to make it easy to get off. The green runs have just the right incline—not too flat—making them great for beginners. Plus, the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend!

It is a lot of fun! The views of Calgary and the west are breathtaking from the top of the hill.

Love the tube park, especially with friends. Easy to maneuver and super fun. Great for kids and for adults. Would definitely recommend helmets for the little kids. I felt very safe and secure without one as an adult. Workers had great energy when we went. No ID needed to check-in to get tickets. Can ride as a single or holding onto another. My only complaint was they did not keep the magic carpet open until 830. We were cut off at 820 so they could “get everyone else down the hill.” Not fair to those of us who were already down and lost 10 minutes of fun. Great otherwise!

Nestled within the Heritage Park Historical Village, Gasoline Alley Museum is a haven for vintage car enthusiasts and photography aficionados alike. The museum showcases an array of pre-1950s cars, old-fashioned gas pumps, and retro signage that exudes a nostalgic charm. Stepping into this space feels like entering a time capsule of industrial design from the 20th century, with neon lights illuminating classic automobiles and captivating tin advertisements.
Extremely well maintained museum. Vehicles polished to perfection and the gas pumps were immaculate. Parking was free for stays 90 mins and under, so that was a bonus. $15 per adult to get in - which was reasonable, however we were done the entire museum in about 3/4 of an hour.

For someone that enjoys a good niche museum every so often, it is a must visit. One of the volunteers explained the whole gas refining process historically and I found it super informative. The interpreters were also super helpful and I definitely walked out having learned something. I feel like I would have benefited from having a little more signage around as I found myself having to ask interpreters questions if I wanted to learn about most things at the exhibit. Like I said above tho, I would definitely come back. I’m sure it’s an even cooler experience when Heritage Park is open too !!
Andre D — Google review
Yes we really did love this museum. It started very well for us , because no sooner had we stepped into the museum when we were greeted by a volunteer helper. He realised we were British and he started to talk about the owner. His name was Ron Carey and he died on the veteran car rally in GB. We realised this as we remembered the crash making the headlines in GB. The volunteer was full of interesting facts many not publicly displayed. Anyway you should see them displays of beautiful cars , but the petrol pumps were even more beautiful. Rows and rows of them. In addition to a Western style town with staff dressed for that era. Old fashioned amusing park , which really was a scream ( see videos). Plenty of restaurants and lots of walking. Some animals too too . So much there. My only criticism would be that two of the major rides , the train and the ferry were closed but the admission prices remained the same.

This is a very nice museum. Lots of gas pumps and vintage cars. You are allowed to sit in 2 of the vehicles to take pics- just look out for the ones with stairs to enter into. There is a nice little children’s area to play and dress up in fun clothes too. Be sure to check out the lower level as it had more beautiful cars, trucks and gas pumps!! This is a very clean, well kept museum. It’s worth the trip!
C M — Google review
During my visit to the Gasoline Alley Museum at Heritage Park in Calgary, I was absolutely blown away by the depth of history, the stunning vintage exhibits, and the unique opportunity to step back into an era that shaped the automotive industry and daily life in Canada. If you have any interest in cars, history, or simply appreciate a well-curated museum experience, this is a must-visit destination. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by an incredible collection of beautifully restored vintage cars, trucks, and gas pumps, all arranged in a way that made the exhibits feel vibrant and alive. The museum’s attention to detail is impeccable, from the gleaming chrome on the vehicles to the colorful, nostalgic signage that lines the walls. It felt like stepping into a time capsule of the early 20th century, and I couldn’t help but take tons of pictures—every corner of the museum is so photogenic! The vibrant colors, intricate designs, and historical artifacts provided endless inspiration for my camera, and I’m thrilled to have so many memories captured. One of the highlights for me was learning about the evolution of fuel stations and the culture surrounding car travel during that era. The interactive displays, like the restored service station and the recreated vintage diner, added an extra layer of immersion and charm. It wasn’t just about cars—it was about the lifestyle, the stories, and the innovation that went along with them. The museum staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to share anecdotes or answer questions about the exhibits. Their passion for preserving and sharing this history was evident and made the experience even more enriching. What I loved most was how the museum appeals to visitors of all ages. Families with children seemed just as captivated by the interactive elements as history buffs were by the detailed displays. The museum strikes a perfect balance between being educational and entertaining. In addition to the exhibits, the museum is well-organized, with plenty of space to wander without feeling crowded. It’s easy to lose track of time as you explore, but the experience is so engaging that it’s worth every minute. Tips for Visitors: • Bring a camera or phone with plenty of storage—there are countless photo-worthy spots! • Take your time reading the plaques and displays; there’s a lot of fascinating information that adds depth to the visual experience. • Visit early in the day if you want to avoid crowds, especially on weekends. The Gasoline Alley Museum is more than just a collection of vintage cars—it’s a celebration of history, innovation, and the culture of a bygone era. I left with a deeper appreciation for the ingenuity of the past and plenty of beautiful photos to remember the day. I can’t wait to visit again! Highly recommended for anyone visiting Heritage Park or looking for a unique and memorable museum experience in Calgary.

Olympic Plaza, a former venue for the 1988 Olympic Winter Games in Calgary, has been transformed into a vibrant park with a pond and an amphitheater. The plaza is particularly popular for its seasonal ice skating rink, which becomes enchanting at night when illuminated, especially during the holiday season with a Christmas tree on display.
This is a really nice public space. Enjoy it while is still available for the public. There are events every weekend on December but not skating rink this winter. It’s a great spot in the heart of downtown and it’s a shame that they will be close it in place of an extension of another building like don't we have buildings enough already?!

“A Magical First Theater Experience!” Attending my first theater performance was truly unforgettable. The ambiance was captivating, with the dim lighting and the sense of anticipation in the air. I’ve been a Calgarian since 2008, I was sort of sad to see Olympic Plaza is being replaced, but the nostalgia is short lived nice you see the new plans, if it turns out like the renderings look on the city of Calgary website, it’s going to be fantastic!!! (It’s worth mentioning I DONT have nostalgia for the old washrooms, mainly winter skating.

This is a fantastic public space. The events all summer, the skating rink in the winter. It’s a gorgeous spot in the heart of downtown and it’s a shame to hear they will be scrapping it in place of an extension of another building. Hopefully the plan for design somehow preserves some of this spot and doesn’t erase it entirely. This is a city that spent a fortune on a blue ring on the outskirts of town though so who knows. Hoping for the best!

A beautiful park next to the city hall with multiple events throughout the different seasons from gathering to show respect, concerts, art display to staking. This also allows for some landscape viewing in between busy downtown towers. Also next to LRT and convenient to visit. Recommended to visit at day time despite the crowed.

Pretty cool the city has a park dedicated to the Olympics. Some cuties boast that they will have hosted the Olympics three times, yet don't have any parks for her local constituents to enjoy. Honestly any city that plans on sending people to the Olympics should have Olympic-sized facilities for people to train in.

We were pleased that the rink was still open! Visited 3-17-24. ⛸️ Experience Calgary's Olympic Plaza Ice Rink: Nestled in the heart of downtown Calgary, this rink exudes a captivating charm that's hard to resist. We were pleased to find that the rink was still open, offering a unique sunny skating experience. Despite the warmth and a few puddles near the edges, the opportunity to skate comfortably in t-shirts was a refreshing surprise, adding to the allure of our visit. The sheer size of the rink struck me immediately, spanning over 17,000 square feet, offering ample space for skaters of all ages and skill levels. Surrounded by towering skyscrapers and framed by the majestic backdrop of the Calgary Tower, skating at Olympic Plaza provided unparalleled city views that were simply epic. It's a fantastic way to experience the vibrant spirit of Calgary while gliding across the ice. The facilities at the rink are top-notch, with rental skates available for those who don't have their own. There are also benches and seating areas where skaters can take a break and warm up with a hot beverage from the nearby concessions. One of the highlights of our visit was discovering the rich history behind the rink. As the site of the medal ceremonies during the 1988 Winter Olympics, the Olympic Plaza Ice Rink holds a special place in Calgary's sporting legacy. It's a testament to the city's enduring passion for winter sports and its commitment to fostering a vibrant community spirit. The groundhog wall was a hit with the kids, who gleefully posed with many of them, adding an extra layer of fun and whimsy to our outing. Overall, our experience at Calgary's Olympic Plaza Ice Rink was nothing short of enchanting. Whether you're a seasoned skater or just looking for a fun outing with friends and family, this iconic rink is a must-visit destination. With its picturesque setting, excellent facilities, warm hospitality, and sunny adventures, it's no wonder that the Olympic Plaza Ice Rink remains a beloved winter oasis in the heart of Calgary. 🇨🇦 @kidstravelCanada facebook for more kid friendly outings!

A local friend brought me here to take a look. The prices at the stalls are a bit higher than those at regular supermarkets, even though the produce comes directly from the farms. Still, many people are happy to spend here as a way to support the farmers.
Judy H — Google review
Good one to visit during weekends. I find this kid friendly. Quite a bit of eating options. Vegetables are slightly priced higher than outside market ( may be because these are from farms - organic)
Sury M — Google review
I volunteered at a food bank event held by the farmer's market. The market is very engaged with the community, and I had a great time trying some of the delicious, healthy food. I even bought some fresh vegetables and fruit! They sell homemade and organic produce, and the quality is excellent. If you're a first-time visitor, I'd recommend checking their hours before you go.
Junhong C — Google review
It was good, I think most produce and goods are organic hence the prices. They had variety of dine options which was good. They had icecream, coffee, Thai food etc . I got there 4:50pm so I couldn’t try anything. In my opinion, they close too early at 5pm on weekdays. I also wanted some fresh seafoods and I didn’t find lots of options. Live crabs can be pre-ordered though.. bananas are like $1.27/lb. Overall it was an OK experience.

Returned to this farmers market after a long hiatus and was pleasantly surprised at the diversity of products available here. A vast array of fresh produce from local growers as well as BC fruit was on display. I would say that the quality of almost all the products that I looked at was quite high as were the prices listed with them. The area of the market that I found reasonable prices was in the food court area. I believe that there were no less than 2 dozen food vendors and believe me that some of the freshly served food here was exceptional... A special shout out to Margaritas for their amazing Eastern European cuisine. I had a plate of cabbage roll, perogies w/bacon, bratwurst w/sauerkraut, and steam veggies for about $18..... Each item on the plate was Amazingly Good! Bottom Line: 8.5 out of 10

What a pleasant visit to the Farmer's Market. Prepare to pay a tad more than in your big grocery stores, but all the stalls a worth the visit. There is enough seating to sit and eat whatever food you may have purchased at any of the food stalls.

If you’re visiting the area, I highly recommend checking out Chippy Dude!🌹🌹 They specialize in fish and chips, and honestly, it was the best I’ve ever had. Everything was incredibly fresh, crispy, and absolutely perfect I’ve never had fish and chips like this before. One of the best parts is that instead of the usual fries, you can choose your own side. I chose the sweet potato croquette, and it was just perfect. Make sure to try the coleslaw too it’s the freshest and most flavorful I’ve ever tasted. Also, don’t miss out on their signature shrimp burger! The owner recommended it, and I’m so glad I tried it the patty is packed with whole, juicy shrimp. If you’re anywhere nearby, this place is a must visit!

This award-winning museum celebrates over 700 Canadian sports icons through an impressive collection of more than 95,000 artifacts and engaging exhibits. Visitors can immerse themselves in history with hands-on interactive displays, including touch-screen sport lessons and thrilling 3D simulations.
Today was my first time to visit the place and I had a blast educating myself on Canadian sports legacy. As a basketball fanatic I was intrigued with Dr.James Naismith works that was on display. It was very informative for me. He was a genius and now it has been a global sports. I would absolutely recommend for families especially with kids to visit and learn the rich history of Canadian sports. How I wish I could be a hall of Famer too.

Very interesting and moving, see the very detailed and well made video at the beginning of the trip really put you in the mindset to want to see and hear about all these people, even as someone who's not super interested in sports. SAIT got us into a special tour of the behind the scenes areas so we got to see all the archived collections that haven't been seen by the public yet. Very interesting, and everybody that works there were very friendly and informative. This is a very cool non-profit organization that is doing their best with what they have and deserve all the recognition.

Great facilities and exhibits, not that big, but worth checking out. Be sure to watch the movie, it plays every 30 minutes. One question, why are the Howe and Orr jerseys from 2015?

It's pretty fun to go check out all the exhibits you can see how technology has changed and what people have influenced changed in the sport. All in all it's a huge place with a lot to learn

Honestly, I wanted to love this - I'd been waiting to come here since it opened. However, we were really disappointed. About 95% of the interactive exhibits were out of order, which made this really not a great place for our kids (age 3, 5 and 7). Thankfully I had a coupon to get my entire family in for $20 - even then it was a disappointing experience!

It's great educational centre for both the kids and adults. As seniors, we still have learned a lot from the movie and displays. It's interesting for us to feed the fish as well. Last but not least, all the friendly staff here really help us enjoying hours of good experience. Thank you!

So fun to watch the show And feed the fish. There’s a park for kids to run around after as well. Great place to educate kids.

A great place to beat the heat and learn about trout (and other fish), as well as the various aquatic habitats of Alberta. The main floor has admissions and the hatchery, the upper floor is the discovery centre exhibits, and the basement has the aquariums! There are some monster trout down there!

We were just there for the Biodiversity Festival and we had a blast. The staff at the booths were incredibly knowledgeable and so much fun to talk to. The staff throughout the center were soo lovely. We also got to see a falcon, which was soo cool. We also learned so much about the fishes while we fed them. The program was well run and we appreciated the efforts of the staff there.

Such an incredible facility, full of knowledge and excitement for the littles. Who wouldn't love to feed 38,000+ rainbow trout at a time?! The aquarium downstairs is so peaceful and on the second floor the discovery centre offers lots to watch and interact with. 10 stars for the best staff too!

It is truly a hidden gem in Calgary that not many people seem to know about. It's surprising how little this place is advertised because it’s an absolute must-visit for everyone in the city! Whether you're a kid or an adult, there's something here for everyone to enjoy. The learning experience is phenomenal—you'll come away with a deep appreciation for the environment, conservation, and wildlife, with the fish hatchery being a particular highlight. They offer feeding time slots you can sign up for, along with a tour of the hatchery that's both informative and engaging. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and do a fantastic job explaining everything. The facilities are clean, well-maintained, and the overall experience is one that leaves a lasting impression. If you're in Calgary and haven't been to Bow Habitat Station yet, you're definitely missing out!

The beat part of this was feeding the fish. It was so much fun. We didn't get the tour because of staffing issue, so all the more reason to go back. The interpretive center was interesting. Good for kids in elementary, but the middle school kiddos were a bit bored. Need to go back and try their fishing workshops. In the summer months there is a pond to try your hand at it. Really near Pearce Estates park. Center is a short walk from the parking lot, but there is handicapped parking near and you can be dropped off easily.

Nice little garden. Some flowers look dry probably have suffered from the recent water restrictions in Calgary. The parking lot is small. I liked the benches around the park where you can seat around the flowers. I would totally visit again!

Easily one of the most stunning and peaceful spots to visit in inner city Calgary in the summer time. An absolute must for plant and flower lovers. The space is very scenic and historic, next to a very beautiful and also historic Calgary cemetery. Also convenient being next to the stampede grounds.
Michael G — Google review
Visited the location this time for an outdoor photo shoot. The photographer was great and had a good eye for creating a story. We paused the session a couple of times to watch the butterflies, appreciate some beautiful flowers in bloom and sit when we climbed up hill to get a particular (and well worth it) view. I liked the movable benches located in some areas, the calming sound of water flowing over rocks and the tiny signs describing either the plants or history of different areas in the park. I stayed behind after the session to enjoy the park a little more and came across some hikers and a couple that looked to be on a date.

Wonderful and peaceful alpine slide with many colorful species of plants. We were there in June, and the park was full of blooming flowers. Unfortunately, it's a really small place.
Artemii P — Google review
Lovely little garden in inner city and it's FREE! It suggests an hour to walk through the entire grounds which is relatively accurate depending on how much time you sit and rest or scrutinize over the type of flowers planted. Great place to get away while not leaving the city or for someone who loves gardens.

Granary Road is such a fun place to visit with kids! 🐐🍓 The play areas are amazing — creative, clean, and full of things to explore. My kids loved the animals at the petting zoo and had a great time running around the outdoor playgrounds. The market was closed when we went on Wednesday, so we didn’t get to try the food or local products this time. Still, it’s a beautiful family spot, and we’ll definitely come back on a weekend to experience the full market!
Nancy M — Google review
Such a cute way to spend a morning or afternoon with the kids. It's like a walking path with lots of playgrounds, zip lines, petting zoo and more. I thought there would be more opportunities to buy treats around the park and I disliked the tractor ride going on the same path where kids are walking and running but the staff were very attentive and cautious. We had a fun time.

We have always loved going to Granary Road but today (August 29, 2025) was extra special. We had a lovely chat with the owners, who are such kind and caring people. The dad picked leaves and handed them out to all the children feeding the goats. We talked about the importance of family and their plan to make it an even better experience for families to come and have a magical time there. It was just such a sweet experience to meet the family behind the business. We will keep visiting granary road for years to come.

It was a beautiful place to visit for all ages. Scenery is amazing, outdoor activities are fantastic, interaction with the goat is so much fun, golfing, zipline there is a restaurant you can eat, and you can buy lots of healthy stuffs like fruits, vegetables, spices; honey and a lot more. Highly recommended.

It's well-designed to let kids burn energy while sparking their imaginations. The animals part was nice, petting the goats was a nice expirience for our little one. One thing we really appreciated was that it wasn’t overly crowded. Even on a nice day, it felt spacious and calm, which made the whole experience more enjoyable. There were plenty of food and drink options on-site too. We were able to grab snacks and drinks without long waits, and the quality was good. The gift shop at the end was a nice surprise—lots of cute, thoughtful items and souvenirs. Overall, Granary Road is a hidden gem for families. It’s clean, well-organized, and full of fun, interactive things to do. We’ll definitely be back!

The scenic route encompasses bridges, marshes, and viewpoints, providing an engaging experience for visitors.
I like coming for a bike ride here with my wife sometimes. Beautifully maintained and low elevation gain paved paths. Gorgeous views of the water. But in the summer, boy are those bugs vicious closer to the water. It was terrible getting bitten by mosquitoes.
Martin M — Google review
I'm just interested why personal canoes and kayaks are allowed here but paddleboards are not? Is this a business or what? If someone drowns ( hopefully not), that possibility is just as possible from any type of small boat. There's really nowhere to board in Calgary. And it's extremely unpleasant. I feel like a dog on a leash: I can see the water, but I'm not allowed in. And the restrictions are ONLY for supboards. Where is the logic? I love this place: there are lots of birds and even frogs that sing. I just don't understand these restrictions on boards. It's easier to flip over from a kayak and harder to climb back up than from a board. Isn't it?
Mimishka Z — Google review
On our short trip to Calgary, the Missus and I enjoyed cycling around the Glenmore Reservoir. The asphalt trail was in excellent condition that made for easy pedalling. There were a few elevation changes but the trail was generally flat. There were many free parking lots and the Heritage Park made for a great pit stop to refuel or enjoy a leisurely coffee. Highly recommend for a nice and scenic bike ride.

Beautiful spot to spend an evening walking. The park has breathtaking view of the reservoir and I am really short of words to describe how beautiful 😍 it was. The park has a dedicated bike path and a walking path which is always great and has a dog on leash policy. I really wish I lived closer to this park as I would have loved to come here for a walk on a daily basis, but I am sure I will be driving here often.

Beautiful oasis within the city. There are various parking lots so it doesn’t feel too crowded. Bike and pedestrian paths are separated which is really nice, many spots for bbq and fire pits, and there’s also a playground for kids. From the north side you can look down to the reservoir and down the south side with all the fall foliage. Definitely a lovely outdoor spot for a stroll anytime of the year.

Non-profit organization
Contemporary Calgary is a must-visit art gallery in the city, showcasing modern and contemporary artworks from local, national, and international artists. Housed in a unique Brutalist-style building that was once a planetarium, the gallery offers diverse arts programming including workshops, panels, films, and more. It also features a big domed ceiling theatre space used for various events. The gallery frequently hosts rotating exhibitions and special events such as the Beakerhead art and activations.
A unique building with great exhibit spaces and a really accessible and friendly staff. The building is a work of art in itself. There are unique curved lines and textures throughout. The exhibit areas are very well suited to installations of various kinds. The exhibits are topical and provocative. The staff enhances your time with the pieces and gives the right amount of check ins. Both visits recently to the museum I found the staff to be extremely helpful and really engaging. I had the pleasure of talking with staff member Jade who was so passionate and knowledgeable. I observed her on two different occasions in the exhibit space and saw how she greeted guests and offered openers for conversation if desired. I spoke with her about the art pieces and their relationship to our current cultural climate. She was genuine and insightful. She is a true asset to the museum. The year membership is only double the single admission fee and well worth it. I plan to return again and again.

This museum is at the last stop of the free zone of the electric train making it easy to get to. The building is, as you would imagine contemporary with open rounded walkways, a dome, and several enclosed areas for exhibits. Don't miss the hummingbird exhibit where you can lie on bean bags and take in Life from the perspective of a hummingbird. The gift shop while small has interesting offerings.
Chrisoula M — Google review
I had great experience there. I went there with my camp so I didn’t purchase any tickets or pay any money for that, so can’t tell for sure if the prices are reasonable or not! The museum is unusual cause it’s not only art, as if pictures, there’s so much more. We were welcomed by the stuff and had a great tour leading by one of them, I don’t remember the name of this lady but she was truly awesome!!!

5 stars because I love spaces like this. I went to see an Iranian film and I appreciated it even more after reading some analysis at home. One of the staff also made a thoughtful comment about the current situation in Iran, which really meant a lot. On the flip side, June Clark’s Witness didn’t do much for me—felt pretty unoriginal.

When I visited, three shows were on display, but none left a lasting impression. Perhaps I just wasn’t lucky that day. That said, the space itself is quite impressive. I’d definitely consider returning if something intriguing is on.

Date night, with my wife. The kids are with the babysitters. Let's check out the Contemporary Calgary Art Center. My wife knows I love local artists and support various artworks I find in the world in my travels. Parking, great at $2. Front Desk Lady, great, informative, and pleasant. We had not been in the building since Body Works was on the then Science Center: Spark. It hits the feels. There were three "exhibits." I use the term loosely. At the time, I hadn't realized I had angered some god, and this was my punishment. We walked to the center of the building. Large plastic antacid tablets littered the 2nd floor. A very pleasant staffer told us where the art exhibits were. The art exhibits were carefully hidden inside the labyrinth of the building. The first installation was a meditation room where one could lay on a bean bag chair and see what life was like through the eyes of a hummingbird. The narration reminded me of the slow cadence of a person on a ridiculous amount of opium, not personal experience, just adjacent to me, thereby allowing me to make an accurate comparison. The second sign something was awry, the hummingbird was in a constant survival mode where if it doesn't eat it dies. I suppose it's a true statement, but one could apply it to almost any living animal. The video was shot in Super 8. Third issue. The editing and visual representation was horrid. I have no idea if it's accurate to actual hummingbird vision. I googled "what the world looks like through a hummingbirds eyes." According to Google, hummingbirds see more colors than humans and have greater detail in focus. The Super 8 movie looked like it was edited by someone on qualudes. Next. We went through a hallway with great artwork from Grade 12 students. It was decent notably the on artist using a 3rd motif. The audio visual installation was, and I'm quoting here, " edited by someone who had discovered Microsoft paint and a freeware video editor on the internet." The only thought it provoked was the origin of my name (means from the Roman God of War, Mars, or Ares if you follow the Greek Pantheon). Final installation. The feature artist is June Clark. In her own admission, her work is derivative of other artists. There is no trace of originality at all. It was awful. The work seemed a cry for help to escape the banality of her own mediocrity. Would I pay money again for this? No, it is an awful art installation with little, currently left to redeem it. My heart and mind pine for the future that it could be amazing. All isn't lost. The one artwork I found cool is the light pole patrons have chosen to self decorate and add their entrance stickers to make a visually interesting changing community artwork. Best part that it is in front of the gallery, and it's free. Posted below from 4 angles that a rank amateur like me thought were cool.
Marek H — Google review
We had a wonderful time at Contemporary Calgary. While they were in between exhibits, the three running exhibits were very interesting and thought provoking. While they are happy to let guests explore on their own, the staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable if you want some additional information about some of the artists or pieces, or want to know about the space or upcoming events. The best part is admission is extremely affordable at $12, and a membership is only $24! They even have free admission the first Thursday of every month. I'm very grateful that Calgary has accessible art spaces like CC.

Events are frequently offered from First Thursday where the gallery is free in the evening hours and has fun offerings to Kid's workshops. I brought my daughter here as she loves animals and all things fall. I can confirm that I am apparently still very much a kid at heart! The animals were beyond adorable and clearly very well taken care of. I had no idea how many other activities were at this location. From cheering on a cute pig to win his race, to mini golf and giant slides, carnival like games, and the most adorable little train ride! A zip line that everyone can enjoy, numerous areas to take a family photo or the perfect backdrop to remember that first date, this place is truly charming. The staff were very friendly and the venue was clean and well maintained. Whether you’re looking for that family activity, perfect date night, or an afternoon with friends, this place truly has something for everyone. We will definitely be back again.

Wine bar
River Café is an upscale dining spot housed in a beautifully restored park concession building. The restaurant prides itself on sourcing the finest local ingredients directly from producers and growers, ensuring top-notch quality. Their Canadian-style cuisine focuses on simple yet transformed meat, fish, and produce cooked over an orchard wood-burning grill.
My husband and I got married at River Cafe this June. We had the absolute best experience and so did our guests. If anyone is considering getting married here - do it! Kerry was really wonderful to work with as the event coordinator. She was very timely with her emails and made time for us to meet in person multiple times. She made the process fun and I felt extremely confident in her ability to make the day run smoothly (which it did! Even with a bit of rain). The bar staff was able to recreate a cocktail from last years menu to be served on our day that we loved. You can tell that weddings are not a new thing here. The staff has clearly worked many. They were efficient and did a fantastic job as a team. We had 90 people at our wedding and so many people commented about how short the wait for the bar was - everything was done very efficiently. We had so many comments from guests about how much they loved the venue. The food was so good (make sure one of you gets the Arctic Char because it was delicious!). We can’t wait to spend our future anniversaries at River Cafe. :)

Their weekend brunch was great! The Benedict biscuit tasted like it was made in the morning (and it was amazing by the way). Never had an eggs Benedict with arctic char but would definitely get again. We love the Canadian flavours and it really shows in the cooking :))

A lovely late lunch on the patio today! Service was excellent, our waitress was friendly and kinda laid back - which actually suits us very well. Food was great also: the flatbread (pizza) and the glazed eggplant + tart for dessert. The eggplant was our favourite for sure! If we lived here, we'd be back 🥰

We got the sablefish appetizer and halibut main. Both very yummy. The chocolate dessert was absolutely delicious. This is in the middle of Prince’s Island Park so it’s a bit of a (pleasant) trek from downtown parking lots.

Came here for lunch. For one of Canada's top 100 restaurants it was priced very well. One of the best old fashioned's that I've had in the city. I had the arctic char and very much appreciated the attention they paid to the texture in the meal - that felt unique.

Beautiful location inside a park in Calgary, not too far from the Chinatown area. This spot has beautiful views and an amazing serene feel to it as you approach it after a walk around the park. The food here is decent - came here for brunch and they featured many of the brunch classics with lots of locally sourced meats and vegetables. The portion sizes were decent as well, so you won’t leave hungry. Overall - it’s a good spot in Calgary to check out for brunch and a stroll in the park.

We had an incredible lunch here. Sat outside on a gorgeous afternoon. We were seated promptly and order was taken quickly. Drinks were delicious. The restaurant filled up quickly, and the wait for food was a bit long, but it was worth it. Every bite was great. Standouts include the lamb sirloin flatbread and the beef tartare. Service was very friendly and accommodating with a booster seat available for a child.

Beautiful location, great decor and ambiance. We went for brunch. First time there. Food and drinks were delicious except for the fish cake! We had a scone, monogram coffee, cider, bacon, eggs with hash, lamb sausage and toast which were all tasty. Only thing I didn’t love was the fish cake. It tasted too fishy. I had halibut a few times before and it never tasted so fishy. I did live on the west coast in Vancouver by the ocean so maybe I should not compare fish in Alberta to fish I had while living near the ocean. That’s my honest opinion and experience. I would maybe try the restaurant one more time for dinner, and see how it is, although we will likely not get the fish again. Server was nice overall. I did mention the fishy taste of fish cakes and asked if that’s normal, he said it’s supposed to taste fishy so I said ok. I usually don’t mention things to restaurants but was curious if it’s supposed to taste the way it tasted. I did mention all the foods we did like as well.

The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland is a must-see destination located at the original site of Fort Calgary, which was built in 1875 by the North West Mounted Police. This historic park offers visitors a chance to explore the birthplace of Calgary and learn about its rich history through comprehensive exhibitions and guided tours. The replica fort and adjacent barracks have been reconstructed using tools and techniques from the 1880s, providing an authentic experience for visitors.
Visited as part of a school field trip, the staff did a great job keeping the kids busy and engaged while teaching them about our local history. The practice archeology bins were a hit with the students and taught them to think critically about the artifacts they uncovered. The indigenous games gave everyone a chance to connect with the kinds of activities that people their age would have done centuries ago. The scavenger hunt through the museum was a great way to ensure the students examined every nook and cranny of the exhibits. We will be sure to visit again when the upgrades are complete!

I recently went on a private trip with students that turned out to be an incredible experience. We had the opportunity to explore significant historical sites, uncovering captivating narratives that underscored the links between our past and present. This journey deepened our understanding of the region's heritage. Throughout the trip, the knowledgeable workers were helpful, answering our questions and enriching our experience.

The historic house wasn’t very big, and when we visited, it was quite crowded due to a festival. It was interesting to see, but definitely not something you’d spend a lot of time in. Parking was available but quite expensive. There’s a lovely park right next to it, which made the visit more enjoyable. The area is nice for a short walk and some photos. It’s a decent place to visit once if you’re nearby. Overall, a one-time experience—not something I’d return to.

Strictly not a tone to do here if you have a young one. But this place is situated in a good location with access to parks and downtown. Excellent green fields. Lots of places to run around or play with the river.

Formerly known as Fort Calgary, this is a quaint museum showcasing not just the city's history but also Alberta. It's a different take from the Glenbow as it's more niche so will be enjoyable for history buffs, tourists and homegrown Calgarians alike. The movie theatre experience is a must-see for any flick during their special event showcases as it has an old-timey vibe allowing for an immersive experience. Overall I would recommend it! Transparency: 5/5 Accountability: 5/5 Authenticity: 4/5 Got a YYC so rad review you want us to check out? Be sure to DM us with the details! :)

After 20 years, The Confluence finally got an indigenous art exhibition curator, Star Crop Eared Wolf, for the opening of Kípaitápiiyssinnooni [Our Way of Life]. When we visited the space for the art opening, it was quite exciting to see the different works of art on display. The film showing during the weekday was also very thoughtful-- I wish more people would come and watch! The only points of improvement for me would be the following: 1. Food vendors (I had 4 hungry kids with me and they kept bugging me to leave so we can go grab proper meals, which were not available on site); and 2. Paving the gravel parking lot a bit more because holy cow, those things destroyed my stiletto heels when I had to run to my car whilst hail was pummeling the ground 😑 Overall, it's an amazing venue for cultural experiences but make sure you have a big meal prior to the visit. Cheers!

I just watched We are all treaty people at the confluence and it was a wonderful performance. It was done really well, especially for such a hard topic. I was surprised how they managed to pack so much into an hour but it didn't feel rushed and it didn't feel like it was missing anything. Wonderful job to the team! I hope there will be more events like this in the future. This truly is such a meaningful show.

This venue has been here for decades. It’s been an important and iconic building ingrained into to the culture of Calgary. But I recently learned that a new venue is going to be built next to it and therefore demolished there after. Kind of sad really but that is life. We have to keep building destroying and building. In any case it’s a nice looking venue. 👍😎
Yodaman S — Google review
A disappointment, we got to the venue it was mismanaged, prices where we'll ok i know things are expensive but really just about 9$ for a slice of pizza 73, 15$ for a coolers beer, wow I now know why your province thinks its an unfair world. The sound quality of apocalyptica was a 5, I am going to assume it will get worse, and yes I can compare them to the other 12 times seeing them..... Lindsay sterling was great except for the sound, like maybe some proper techs? Maybe check with me next time during a sound check because you butchered this young ladies set. Why are there not the same sound problems with halestorm???? Hmmm seems like you intentionally messed with Lindsay's quality.....
Panda B — Google review
It was tough eing an Edmonton Oilers fan and being in there .. haha since its enemy territory but had to see Lainey Wilson and she made it worth it. We had some great seats for the venue. Seats were comfy compared to other arenas we have been to. It was near impossible to get an Uber or cab after the event and had to walk a few blocks away from the choas to get back to our hotel.

A piece of Calgary history… Went to the Lynyrd Skynyrd show, fabulous time. Beer was cold, pretzel was hot, show was great. It’s what you make it!!!
Sarch L — Google review
The upper seats are actually great with a nice view so no issues there. But there are two big screens that don’t work, they’re just bright blue the entire time. According to the people sitting around me they haven’t worked for years. It’s super distracting and adds to the overall neglected feel of the place. On top of that there are so many empty seats down by the rink which really kills the energy. Why not move the fans who are actually passionate about the Flames down closer to give the team some real support? The whole experience feels like it’s running on autopilot.

Came here for the Calgary Flames 2024 season opening night game. It's an older venue and the seats are only separated into two levels/bowls, so all seats have a relatively good view of the ice. Bathrooms are not big, so there's a wait time for intermissions. Good venue for hockey games!

Amusement park ride
Downhill Karting by Skyline Luge in Calgary offers an exhilarating experience for visitors of all ages. Located at Winsport Canada Olympic Park, this attraction features a switchback hillside track spanning over 1,800 meters, making it the longest track of its kind globally. The specially constructed karts are self-steered and require no motors; riders control their speed by pulling or releasing the handlebars.
Stopped here as I saw the ad back in Ontario. WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! The staff were on point and super friendly. The price per ride was reasonable, and the pictures and videos were super cool and affordable. Had one reckless individual who came flying through people, but it was such a great experience it wasn't a huge deal. Definitely recommend doing this if you are in the Calgary arena!

This is fun for all. Age groups. My 30 toddler, was able to set with an adult and go down You get to do it 3 times There are also two lines one for once. If you’ve already gone and done before, and I know that how to stop and break and go, and the other line is for first timers. I was a lot of fun. Get your helmets. They offer from there. There’s a scan code on the Side. My only complaint is, the guy wanted me to pay while he was so busy in line and never gave me the picture. I had to go back and asked him to resend a picture, which I never got again. That was the only way of time. Besides that it was a lot of fun. I think the Photo staff needs to be managed better. Otherwise, I would do it again. Park was a little difficult to find, but not too big of a problem. Location is good. You could see it from the highway. . Good place to take pictures for views Also, is a biking trail for Kids. I want a bike.

This was our second visit to Downhill Karting in Calgary and there will very likely be a third and fourth! The first time we went our kids were 12 and 15, and they had so much fun that they insisted on going back. Three years later we finally made a return visit, and they enjoyed it just as much. They each had 4 rides and it took about 2 hours. It was extremely busy but the thrill of riding the gondola up and cruising down the hill outweighed the wait times! My husband tagged along with them and enjoyed it just as much as they did. He gives this activity a 10/10! We look forward to going back after the construction is done at the park. Although it did not affect this experience, it is sure to enhance it next time.
Lisa K — Google review
It’s quite a well setup experience that moves quickly. You line up, go up the ski lift and then race down the hill. The layout is well done and you move fast. It was enjoyable and you get three laps so it’s decent value. I had fun.
Jason S — Google review
The experience was engaging and enjoyable. We participated four times, and the wait times in line were minimal. Despite the hot weather, the experience proved to be worthwhile. From a safety perspective, all necessary precautions were observed.
Cherry L — Google review
This was a great activity. I was enjoying my time, my husband was enjoying the thrill of going down as fast as he could. After we told staff that someone from a group of 4 rammed into me in a slow section, they put staff watching the slow bumper sections. Would do again+
Jocksy G — Google review
Buy your tickets online. You can’t buy them there. Really fun activity with friends or family Might be a bit of a wait if you go on a nice day or the weekend. But the lines move pretty quick! You control your speed so you can go as fast or slow as you want. Good view of the city as you kart down the track
Ro M — Google review
Super fun! Carts go as fast as you can handle. Each downhill takes about 2-3 minutes (depending on speed) and about the same up in the ski lift (which is super peaceful) We had 3 runs each, which was great, but we could have spent all day there. Olympic park is a bit more "abandoned" than I would have liked, but... It was summer. They offer some cool attractions for winter as well. Go earlier than later. We were there at 10:30 and there was no wait. By the time we were done (about an hour total). The place was jammed

The house has undergone various transformations over the years, including being used as a center for young women, women's military barracks, and even a blood donor clinic.
I love this museum. I really have a good time knowing about the history of Alberta. I went there during Christmas, however the staff said depending of the season they change the decoration. The museum has a small vintage shop where you can get some sourvenirs

The Bow is a striking 58-story skyscraper in Calgary, designed by Foster + Partners and completed in 2012. Its unique crescent-shaped footprint and convex design were developed through climate-responsive research to maximize heat, daylight, and views of the Rocky Mountains for its office units. The building's south facade folds inward to achieve these goals while also serving as a wind deflector.
I was fortunate to attend a conference here for two consecutive years now. It's an amazing venue especially the Sky Garden and the Mountain view room on the 54th floor. I highly recommend it for meetings. Very clean and well organized. The views are spectacular. Highly secured too. Their food court on 1st floor is also a decent one for quick snack open to public I guess.

One thing about it, this building is a great place for people to visit and take pictures. The building itself with its infrastructure, is one to not miss out on visiting. The face sculpture at the front was one to examine outside and inside. Very impressive and cool. If you’re visiting Calgary, k definitely recommend to pass by the bow and take a look as well as its surrounding buildings

I recently spent some time around The Bow in downtown Calgary, and wow — it really stands out. The building’s unique curved shape and steel design look incredible up close. It’s not just a skyscraper; it feels like a piece of art that fits perfectly with the city skyline. What I really enjoyed was the lively atmosphere around the base — there are plenty of cafés, shops, and green spaces that make it a great place to hang out or grab a coffee. I also loved seeing the big “Wonderland” sculpture there; it adds such a cool, creative vibe. The Bow connects to the +15 skywalk, which was super convenient for exploring downtown without worrying about the weather. It felt modern, welcoming, and definitely one of the highlights of my Calgary visit. If you’re in the city, don’t miss it!

Fairly new and iconic icon symbolic of Calgary. Things to do around there will include the building inside which is open to public with some pretty good pay shops and places to grab a quick bite to eat. There's some pretty good Chinese food up on the second floor. My reason for going there is the Taco truck that is usually there in the afternoon. They offer amazingly delicious and authentic Mexican flavors as they are from Mexico. 🇲🇽🌮

One reason we stopped here is it’s just unique. Accessed by a little bridge via a big bridge, it has a little pond (which is connected to the river) for the kids to splash in and throw rocks. My girls enjoyed the minnows nibbling their feet. It wasn’t busy on a weekday but not quiet either, lots of families with their kids as well as people biking by. It also has a few picnic tables and lots of seating. Scenic and lovely place. Although the water was a bit gunky I believe it was because the water level is low, once it rises a lot of that will be washed away.

Calm and relaxing park away from too much people (mostly they are in Prince’s Island Park) There’s a pond where you can have a picnic, chill on a blanket, throw stones on the water or just look at the calm canopy of trees. Theatre Calgary is a large, tiered theatre that hosts a variety of performances including plays, musicals, and holiday shows. The company has engaged in collaborations with national and international companies such as Soulpepper, the Shaw Festival, the National Arts Centre, and American Conservatory Theater. They also have a New Play Development Program that has led to world premieres of new Canadian works on their stage.
It was my first time in Max Bell Theatre today and I’m absolutely in love with it. We watched “A Streetcar named Desire” and this is a great performance. Actors and decorations are great! I was sitting in the first row, wouldn’t recommend it , because it’s to close to the scene and my neck little bit hurts, nevertheless I still enjoyed the show. And there is always half price in bar one hour before the show 👌🏼 enjoy! 🎭

I have never been disappointed by a show here! Every performance is top-notch from stage design to acting all the way to the front of house staff and everything in between! most recently, I attended their production of “a streetcar named desire” — I had some questions and concerns about my seats and was helped out by a staff member Ashley who was about the most accommodating a person could be which really made my experience world class! I couldn’t be more grateful to have such a great theatre institution here in the city. I highly recommend any chance you can get to go to a performance with them!!!

What an amazing theatre. We've lived here two years and this is our first theatre production. Dial M for Murder. We will be seeing a Christmas Carol as well in December and we cannot wait. The theatre is beautiful and you can pre-order snacks and drinks during happy hour and pick them up at intermission. Parking is also right below the theatre and cost just $6.

Our family has cherished a special tradition of attending Theatre Calgary for 25 years, especially at Christmastime. This year, the improvement and creativity brought to the production were truly remarkable! If you still have time in your schedule, don't miss this year’s rendition of A Christmas Carol. It's an extraordinary show—by far the best we’ve ever seen! Simply amazing!

Legally Blonde was a total blast! Go see it. 5 stars for the performance. One star off due to having my knees mashed into hard wood for 2.5 hours, but I can't really fault them too much for not accommodating my 6'3" frame. Still though, interesting things to see and nice staff. Prices were decent too.

This is one of my favorite theaters I've been to in any city. The show was excellent, but the view is amazing from anywhere in the theater. The lighting and sound were stunning, and the stage could have been on Broadway. Oh, the seats are super comfortable - memory foam, plenty of room, and a cup holder. I'll be back.

We had an excellent experience at Theater Calgary. This is the first time I have been to the max bell theater and I loved the more intimate size of it, the small size balconies, and the classic red velvet chairs. It had an old theater nostalgia with modern comfort. We were able to bring drinks and food into this theater. Parking is easy due to the two parkaids connected to the Theatre system. Would recommend seeing a show here!

The theater that inspired Hitchcock’s Dial M for Murder was small and cozy — quite charming. It was interesting that you could bring food inside; I enjoyed the movie with a beer and some chewy snacks I thought were jerky. Such a fun and memorable experience!

The Chinese Cultural Centre in Calgary is an expansive cultural facility that includes art classes, a museum and an auditorium for community events. It is also home to various festivals and events throughout the year. The Chinese Cultural Centre Museum features rare replicas of various Chinese artifacts, providing a learning experience for all visitors.
Absolutely great place to discover - amazing decoration, atmosphere at the center itself. There is museum at the basement. Just enter it from the stairs in the hall. Not big, but has a lot of treasures to discover, history to see, impressions to get. Free entrance, no ticket is needed (just if you are the group and want to have a guided tour, then better to contact them in advance).

HONG KONG STYLE STAMPEDE BREAKFAST The Stampede's free Chinese-style breakfast, served from 10 am to noon, is advertised with limited servings, but the exact number is not specified. Upon arrival at 10 am, I was met with an incredibly long line. I was informed that joining the line didn't guarantee breakfast, as only 500 dishes were available. After waiting for 45 minutes, I had barely moved and decided to quit. The concept of offering something new is commendable, but the event's organization is subpar. It's unacceptable to make people wait for hours without ensuring they'll receive food. A more efficient approach would be to distribute limited tickets to those in line ahead of time, guaranteeing that they'll receive their share. Due to the poor organization, I do not recommend attending this event! You can see from the pictures that’s no end in sight.

Visit its free museum! The Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre is a great hub celebrating rich traditions. With its welcoming atmosphere and dedication to diversity, the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre is a beacon of unity in multicultural country.

5-Star Review for Chinese Culture Center This center is fantastic! The Temple of Heaven-style design is stunning, and the free kids’ dragon dance practice every Sunday is a total highlight—kids love it, and it’s a great way to learn culture. Highly recommend for anyone who loves beautiful spaces or wants to share Chinese culture with kids!

I was able to visit Calgary Chinese Cultural Center in celebration of Qing Ming Festival. The organization is lively and family oriented. If you are looking for a place to learn Chinese culture, this is the place, highly recommended.
JKC — Google review
Fantastic cultural centre with an impressive museum in the basement. There are certain events that take place from time to time where there are free activities and performances (Chinese singing). There are also badminton courts & table tennis 🏓 tables. It is an excellent facility for the local Chinese community.
Ying H — Google review
A place to learn Chinese cultural and heritage history. Lots of information available for Chinese historical articles and books available for review and learn. Also at various times of the year exhibition, show and Chinese musical stories are open to the public. Also available lions and dragon dancing are public for the public during Chinese activities and Chinese new year celebrations.

A beautiful place. Usually events are held here. There is also a small museum at the basement and some art classes you can take in the upstairs area. There is no food on premises. A great place to bring the culture together.

Modern art museum
The Esker Foundation, established in 2012 by Jim and Susan Hill, is a vibrant contemporary art gallery that plays a pivotal role in Calgary's cultural landscape. This privately funded space aims to bridge the gap between the public and contemporary art through thoughtfully curated exhibitions and engaging educational programs. With its main exhibition area located on the fourth floor, visitors can explore an array of innovative artworks while also enjoying the dynamic Project Space at street level.
Free gallery with lots to see! The exhibits are thoughtful and you can spend so much time reading through. There’s free 90 minute parking too if you validate. Such a sweet spot.
Evita B — Google review
So much to see in this beautiful space and that too FOR FREE. Sweet lady at reception. Thoughtful work by Babak Golkar and Caroline Monnet. Descriptions made me understand the beautiful artpieces. Their themes and meanings ⭐️ The wall dedicated to young artists made it more special.
Saba A — Google review
Amazing FREE museum with FREE parking underground in the back. Lots of modern art pieces and many pieces located throughout the building as well. Well worth a visit.
Victor W — Google review
Esker Foundation is such a gem in the city! Easy to find and perk of underground parking nearby. The exhibitions are always thoughtfully curated and deeply meaningful — you can tell a lot of care goes into the selections. Their kids’ workshops are top notch, engaging, and wonderfully run. A must-visit for both art lovers and families!
Fay Q — Google review
This place is unbelievable!! My daughter and I came here after seeing an advertisement on the street, and I am so glad that we did. There were free exhibits that allowed us to have quality bonding time! While forming these lifelong memories, we were also able to inspire my daughter's natural love for art, as she is an artist herself. I love this place, and we are hoping to check out the Fall exhibit once it releases! Thank you to everyone who contributes to the display of these masterpieces.
Patrick B — Google review
Simply the best! Thoughtful, interesting range of exhibitions and programs. Wonderfully kind and knowledgeable staff. A must visit (again and again) for out-of-towners and southern Alberta residents alike!
Su S — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit here. The exhibition was interesting and different. I especially liked the piece about guano - I learned something new. It is worth a visit to this gallery if you're in the area. It is small and didn't take long to look around. It is located on the 4th floor, there is a lift or stairs. There are public toilets inside the building. Best of all it is FREE!
Wild B — Google review
I was there for 10 minutes. I was shouted at by the girl on the PA system for being too close to the art, which was uncalled for. (meanwhile there are others actually touching the art). I was simply trying to read the description on the wall. I won't bother returning or recommending.

Flowing from the Canadian Rockies, the Bow River is a popular choice for paddlers of all skill levels. With Class II rapids and 587 kilometers of water to explore, it offers a picturesque setting to spend a weekend enjoying Alberta's natural beauty. The river also boasts numerous campsites along its banks, particularly near Calgary in Southern Alberta. Renowned for its blue ribbon waters, the Bow River attracts fly fishermen from around the world with its abundant rainbow and brown trout population.
We were heading to Lake Louise and saw this Lake from the Parkway. The color was quite amazing so we made a few stops along the way. We were thoroughly enjoying the Canadian Rockies as they are magnificent. The peaks of Mt. Rundle and Mt. Cascade, part of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, dominate its skyline.

Beautiful river view all the way from Banff to Canmore, my first river SUP trip on Bow river was absolutely gorgeous , total 23.7km, did it around 3.5 hours.

Throughout my Banff tour I have seen this river. When we visited Cascade Garden in Banff downtown, we saw this river. Again in the way of Johnston Canyon I came across this river. In the month of August this river looks pretty and what a color. Great view. Want to do canoeing though next time.
Arnab D — Google review
Every year we float down the Bow River- multiple times! We just love it. It’s so beautiful and peaceful and the wild life we get to see along the way is incredible. Highly recommended taking an afternoon to see the city from a different view.

Was here in June 2022. The view took my breath away. Inspiring. Thought provoking. That such beauty could one day be destroyed by the way we live.

Beautiful river. I believe its one of the longest rivers in Canada connecting all the way to the east coast. Great for hiking, dog walks, picnics, site seeing. Gorgeous scenery.

Scenic spot
Crescent Heights Lookout Point, located in the vibrant neighborhood of Crescent Heights in Calgary, offers an unparalleled panoramic view of the city's skyline. Perched high above the Bow River, this lookout provides a stunning vista of Calgary's downtown area, with skyscrapers juxtaposed against the rugged silhouette of the Rockies in the distance. The view includes Princes Island Park and captures the meandering river flowing through the heart of the city.
A Must-Visit Calgary Viewpoint! 🌆 Crescent Heights Lookout offers one of the best panoramic views of downtown Calgary and the Bow River. I have spent 2 NEW YEAR EVEs at here with frds🎆 Whether I come at sunrise, sunset, or under city lights, the scenery is always stunning—perfect for photos or a quiet moment. It’s a free gem that captures Calgary’s skyline at its best.

Love the peaceful place, pet friendly. Beautiful scenery overlooking part of YYC Downton and there's benches where you can relax.
Miriam P — Google review
Looking for that perfect grad photo or pic with friends? Or just a serious workout to get up and down the stairs. For an easier descent, walk along the upper edge to take a gradual paved path back down. Great for scenic shots of downtown Calgary.
Teresa A — Google review
My camera doesn’t do the city night view justice. Being here in person feels completely different. It’s a place where you can slow down, take a breath, and really soak in the view of downtown. No wonder so many people come here to relax and enjoy the moment
Judy H — Google review
Such an amazing spot to over look the city, and if you’re lucky enough to be there when there’s an event at cowboy park, you can sit and listen to the music.
Erica D — Google review
You can get a great view of downtown Calgary from this lookout located just a bit north of Prince’s Island Park. Worth a stop for a top photo opportunity

Mt. Pleasant viewpoint is better, but this spot is still worth a stop. The uphill walk and wooden staircases make it a nice little detour.

The Bow River Pathway is a popular and picturesque urban pathway in Calgary, offering over 1000 kilometers of regional pathways and 96 kilometers of trails. It runs alongside the Bow River, providing stunning views and opportunities for activities such as jogging, biking, and hiking throughout the year. The pathway passes through various parks including Edworthy Park, Princes Island Park, Peace Bridge, and Angels Cafe.
Beautiful accessible river that runs through the city center; with a park connected to it as well as shallower areas where geese and beavers roam free, and domesticated pets with their hoomans splash around by the banks as well. Serene and peaceful around the bridge area. Saw many people strolling or running ❤️
Anthony T — Google review
The Bow River Pathway is an absolute gem in Calgary and deserves every bit of praise. Whether you're walking, biking, or just out for a leisurely stroll, this pathway offers something for everyone. It’s beautifully maintained—clean, well-marked, and easy to navigate. The scenery along the route is simply stunning. You’re treated to continuous views of the Bow River, with its crystal-clear water and charming pedestrian bridges.
