Park
Huntington Beach Central Park East is a vast 350-acre park offering open fields, trees, and flowers, making it perfect for picnics and leisurely strolls. It's not just a surf destination; families can enjoy activities like horseback riding, disc golf, and the Adventure Playground with mudslides and forts for kids. The well-maintained walking paths provide opportunities to encounter wildlife while walking dogs. Despite its popularity, the park offers a peaceful environment with ample space.
The Huntington Beach Library is an absolute treasure that you simply cannot miss. If you're considering moving here, this library is a big bonus. It's not just a place for books-it's a community hub. Whether you're looking for a peaceful spot to work, a family-friendly environment, or just a beautiful space to relax, it adds real value to living in Surf City USA. And let's be real-having a top-tier library steps away from Central Park? That's just another reason why Huntington Beach is one of the best places to call home!

Such a beautiful park. There have been sightings of a bald eagle that lives here. Secret garden behind the library is beautiful. As is the urban forest. Play ground by Kathy Mays is a must if you have kids.
Stephanie G — Google review
It's a nice, large park to walk or bike in and see some nature. A little oasis amidst the concrete and strip malls of Huntington Beach.

Here east of Goldenwest Street is the other portion of the overall Huntington Central Park, also known as Huntington Central Park East. The park is known for its natural beauty, with walking paths, picnic tables, ponds, open space and lots of trees! There’s events areas with a stage, pavilion and a large library. There’s even a secret garden near the library! There’s access to playing sports of just about every kind here, or at the adjoining designated sports parks. Free covered and open parking is available outside the library, located at 7111 Talbert Ave, Huntington Beach, Ca. 92648. More free available parking may be found at Slater Avenue, Gothard Street and Goldenwest Street. A small pond-side cafe off of Goldenwest Street may have spaces available, as it’s both popular along the way with diners and walkers. In addition, there’s another small path and lake-side cafe across Goldenwest Street, or via Central Park Drive at the west side of the park. Huntington Beach Central Park West across Goldenwest Street has additional playground space, a disk golf course, dog park, Urban Forrest and the Shipley Nature Center.

Took my kids here for a day at the park and I was not impressed! The park is dirty and has lots of duck poop all over the place. The younger kids playground is super small and not very exciting. The older kids playground is intense and not for kids under 10! The park has lots of benches to sit, but those also have duck poops on them. Since it’s close to the pins and ducks are nearby, the smell is rather intense. I think LIONS park in Santa Ana is a much better and cleaner alternative
Alysa N — Google review
Calm and peaceful Park. Did the walk along the trails, pretty much very easy trails and safe environment. Met lots of people who walked and just hangouts enjoying the peaceful place. There are also the library building in this area. Also checked the secret garden but not much flowers since this is Fall season, there is a little “swamp” or lake behind of the garden with green water on it, and some dry trees (Autumn) it gave me Halloween vibes :)
Amanda L — Google review
This is a great place to go for a walk or run. I like to take a stroll and take pictures of the different ducks, plants, and birds. It's located right next to the library, which is excellent as well! The ducks and squirrels will come right up to you because they are used to folks feeding them (please don't feed the wildlife). This park is truly a gem.
Elaine P — Google review
Today was my first time visiting this park, and it certainly won’t be my last! This park is HUGE, and is perfect for a jog, stroll, or picnic. It is also extremely dog friendly! I brought my pup with me and he was so happy to have lots of space to explore. There are lots of birds, geese, squirrels, and more roaming the grounds, so there’s always something to look at. Right now there are 5-10 sakura trees in full bloom, so I highly recommend coming here to get a glimpse of the Japanese cherry blossoms! They were absolutely gorgeous. 🌸 I thought I would only be at this park for an hour at the most, but because it’s bigger than I thought I ended up spending a few hours here—and I didn’t even finish seeing all of it! Parking: there are a few parking lots surrounding the perimeter of the park, and it’s free!

The Huntington Beach Central Library and Cultural Center is situated in the picturesque Huntington Central Park, offering a vast collection of nearly half a million volumes. The park also features the Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center, providing horse rentals and guided trail rides on its 25-acre public bridle trails. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the world's second oldest disc golf course within the park's beautiful surroundings.
This library is the free version of Barnes and Nobles. It have plenty of study tables, coffee shop on the ground floor, gift shop on the main floor, selling used books, children area, and plenty of collections. Sweet that it's connect to the park for some leisure activities after studying so hard.

Quite a nice library! Very cool achetecture and design, with calming fountains across the lower levels, indoor plants and trees that complement the outdoor vegetation visible through the huge windows. A great place to read a book, study or do some work while relaxing and enjoying the nature! You can also grab a snack, work on computers, rent books and check out seeds for your garden! Many more things to do in this library! :)

I was amazed at all the services and resources that were provided FOR FREE by this awesome PUBLIC Library! I was able to get a free card good for 90 days while I was visiting the area, was taught to use an embroidery machine and created a patch, AND found great books with the help from the TRAINED and EDUCATED librarians. Come to find out, some uneducated and power hungry people in the community are trying to PRIVATIZE ?????? For what purpose really???? Personal gain and personal agendas. I love this award winning library and I'm only a visitor!!!! Keep it PUBLIC, like it should be!!!!!
Nancy N — Google review
The Huntington Beach Central Library is amazing with its large collection, excellent staff and all of the resources. A great addition to a design built into the park landscape as an inside-out experience! Interior fountains provide uniform white noise over distractions of chatter. Unique tiered sections are bordered by the fountains and interior planters, a preview preceding glances thru windows and into the park! I’m reminded of my literature teacher who had me refocus on page breaks to ease the eyestrain and drift the imagination. So perhaps the scenery here offers more than just aesthetics, as our perception may be leaping off the page!

During visiting from out of town during the winter break I found this wonderful library on TikTok, unfortunately it was closed and missed out before my return flight. Well I got another change to visit the LA area and made sure I put time aside to visit the library. Only to be discriminating against. Made my way to the seed library and noticed they had what I assumed a barcode but being out of town, I don’t have library card. I put the seeds back into the drawer and walked back to my family. To only have an employee flowing me from a distance and then later a security . Didn’t know you weren’t allowed to browse.

Community center
Murdy Park and Community Center, spanning 16.04 acres, offers a variety of recreational facilities for visitors of all ages. The park features the first skating facility in Orange County, along with four lighted tennis courts, two softball fields, four basketball courts, a skate park, and a jungle gym. Additionally, the community center is equipped with four meeting rooms, a kitchen, and a studio that hosts diverse recreation programs and classes.
Awesome Bocce courts surrounded by grass and Shady trees. Great spot, lottsa fun!

Clean tennis courts but two courts out of the four are mentioned to be under construction. Child tennis lessons for the summer from morning until 1 pm. June 24 to aug 15 2024 Rules for reservation posted on tennis courts. Seems pickleball court lines are not placed on tennis courts. Pickleball lines are taped on the basketball courts and can only be used when basketball doesn't have reservations during the summer. Reservations after 730 pm are not filled, likely available for pickleball then Court reservations via QR code, website, or calling

This skate park is so bad it's good. It's so crusty it's essentially a street spot. I enjoyed the curb running around the perimeter the most and the little banks. #1000skateparkchallenge #cementurians

It hurts me to know we are just covering all the good memories and fields we have in this fine city. I grew up in this country and I remember about 40 or 50 other boys running our hearts out on this field to try to make try outs for the Huntington Beach dolphins. And now there taking the memories and totally building over them. Why do we need more courts and more building that will eventually fall one way or another. Trees never grow ugly like man made materials. This park was beautiful the way it was. Kids need fields to run and play what ever games or sports they choose. Not ones our parents or society wants.

Excellent park and community center with activities for people of all ages, including classes like dance.

Park
Huntington Beach Central Park West is a spacious and well-maintained park offering paved trails, playgrounds, a dog park, and summertime shows. The Huntington Beach Tree Society has transformed a neglected community garden into a cozy sanctuary with immaculate granite paths and scenic river-rock dry streams. This nearly acre-long plot is conveniently located behind the Huntington Beach Public Library, making it easily accessible for visitors to enjoy reading amidst the flora.
This sprawling park has something for everyone. It is hard to know where the park starts and ends, but the main part of the park is by the large lake and Kathy May's Lakeview Cafe. From the parking there, you have access to the cafe, the huge kids' playground and several places to stroll or hike depending on your chosen activity level. The kids' park has some really advanced climbing apparatus and a zip line. If you go there, you must go and stand in the rubberized ground around the play area. It feels like you're walking on a pillow top mattress. The plants and trees are quite amazing and the park is generally immaculate. In March, there are a few dead plants and things in need of some TLC, but other than that natural situation, there is no graffiti, no litter, no dig water, etc. Very very clean, tidy and safe. The plants that were flowering were *covered* in bees, which was very pleasant to see. While there we saw various wildlife, including one of a few local bald eagles. There are lizards of some description, but they are very shy. I didn't experience any pests. While there (on a Sunday) there were various church gatherings, birthday parties, yoga, etc. Within a square mile there were probably 300+ people there. Lots of babies in buggies, kids on bikes and picnic. A lovely oasis of quiet away from all of the main roads. It is very easy to forget you are in the middle of suburbia.
Kevin P — Google review
On Memorial Day, my family went there. It was a beautiful place with trees, lakes and birds. I could walk around the beautiful natural lake, large with a comfortable path, with flocks of wild birds, geese and pelicans swimming around. The children had their own play area, climbing and sliding. Some played in the sand, flew kites. Families gathered in groups and camped or had outdoor parties. The air was warm. It was an early summer day, not too hot, and of course the children were starting their vacation. The parking lot layout, the planting and naming of plants made the children excited because they learned a lot. The flowers were colorful. We spread out a tarp and sat down in the grass for a light lunch, then the children explored the squirrels' dens and tried to take turns running around the park. It was a relaxing day and we will be back there to enjoy the natural freshness the next day

This place is a great spot for birders and me! The most beautiful and unique birds come here and I have been here over 5 times! Great photography spot for the birds.

Really nice park in the middle of Huntington Beach. Great for picnics, reading, fishing, relaxing, dog walks, photography, garden walks, bird watching, squirrel entertainment, naps, and general activities. Plenty of picnic tables and lots of shaded areas. Naturally cooler here due to the trees and pond. Be careful of the muddy swamp-like areas on your shoes. There are two outdoor stages here that hold events every once in a while. Paved paths are great for bikes and scooters.

During the day, it's nicer. In the early morning and later evening, the homeless are there. Parking is abundant, and there are solar panels to park under when it's hot. Concerts are fun over the summer. It's a nice, peaceful place to walk your dogs. Pretty and well maintained. Library is great, too.

Nature & Parks
Mile Square Regional Park in Fountain Valley is a sprawling city park that offers a range of activities for outdoor enthusiasts. With three golf courses, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, and picnic areas, there's something for everyone. The 20-acre Mile Square Park Lake is popular among fishing enthusiasts. Despite being surrounded by streets, the park maintains a tranquil atmosphere with opportunities to enjoy walks, observe wildlife like ducks, or simply relax with a book.
Mile Square Regional Park, named for its nearly perfect square shape with each side measuring approximately 1 mile, where you can find your own tranquility amidst the city. Half of the park's area is an 18-hole golf course, making it a pleasant place to walk. The park has two lakes, Palm Island Lake is near Freedom Hall offering swan boat rentals, kayaks, and 1-4 person surrey bikes and single bicycles. Fishing is allowed here, but anyone aged 16 and above must have a fishing license as uniformed personnel patrol the area will check for it. The park is also home to many ducks that are remarkably unafraid of people, but be cautious while walking around the lake or on the grass to avoid stepping on duck droppings. The grassy areas are perfect for picnics, and usually after 4PM, many people jog or bike along the park's trails. A full loop around the park, or a walk by the lakes can easily help me reach over 10,000 steps per day and I really enjoy strolling around here. Restrooms: There are public restrooms within the park and they are clean. Parking: I parked along Edinger Ave but you can park inside the park. There are some good restaurants nearby in Fountain Valley Town Center. 📍 Mile Square Regional Park 16801 Euclid St, Fountain Valley, CA 92708

Easily one of the most spacious parks in Orange County. So many activities here. Great for families and parties. Running, walking, biking, swan peddle boat rentals, tandem bikes w/cover rentals (2 and 4 seaters), golfing, a small fishing area, lots of grassy areas overlooking beautiful lakes where I’ve practiced yoga and acroyoga with friends. A few bridges to walk across and enjoy the ducks and geese. A major playground was revamped. There is an archery club. Multiple basketball courts. A wedding and special events club as well. There are plenty of exercise amenities scattered throughout the park. Plenty of areas for special sporting events like soccer and baseball. There are some quaint, hidden trails to explore. Restrooms are ok. The park extends from Euclid south to Warner, then west to Brookhurst, north to Edinger, then east back to Euclid. There are some further renovations going on right now so you may see a lot of orange construction zones up.

Lots of cool birds and small animals living here. The park is well maintained and clean, with lots of paths to go on. There are a lot of activities built into the park, like bike rentals, pedal boat rentals, archery, picnic tables, and more. $3 to park in the park’s lot, but there is street parking available outside.

Love coming here fur pet therapy seeing all the adorable dogs and sometimes cats it’s why I fight my severe exhaustion to go out lol. The people are civil and polite overall and there’s a lot of diversity from whites to Asians to Hispanics so the atmosphere is pleasant. The park is large enough you have alot of options for social distancing or even if you’re just an introvert who wants to go on a quiet walk. While I do see park rangers occasionally this park could use more security or at least some high definition cameras to monitor gang activity and reckless, rude drivers. The area isn’t particularly safe and there’s graffiti on the containers near the golf course. Unlike other parks the homeless here for the most part keep to themselves and the biggest issues I’ve seen are the mess they sometimes leave behind or when they yell at their poor dogs. There’s also a lot of distracted, air headed sports moms in SUVs who need to pay attention to where they’re going — it’s only a matter of time before they run over someone. The drivers are the worst part of the park (ok and the geese poop) they often don’t yield to pedestrians or seem not to know how to use their turn signal or are too rude and inconsiderate to care. I see some e-bikes which are illegal. And, though rare, some jerk golfers deliberately aim their golfballs to try to hit or scare people or hit cars (one man in a car got so angry). I hope the park staff will address these issues and consider cameras. The park is peaceful, usually not too loud, well kept and it’s nice to have the option of inner paths to lower exposure to smog. Most weekdays aren’t too busy and even with my headaches it’s nice to get some sun here. The park employees do a great job of maintaining the grounds and I hope they open the nature center again. While I don’t participate they regularly have events and even though I’m not a people person it’s so nice to see community coming together.

Shipley Nature Center, a fenced 18-acre natural preserve in Huntington Beach Central Park, was established in 1974. It boasts 4,000 feet of well-maintained trails that wind through various ecosystems such as oak woodlands, Torrey pine forests, meadows, and Blackbird Pond. The center is named after former Mayor Donald D. Shipley and aims to recreate the early twentieth-century California setting.
The Shipley Nature Center is such a wonderful place to visit and take a nice long walk. I took my toddler and she enjoyed the scenery and nature walk. There are lots of places to sit and just enjoy the surroundings as well as various paths to take throughout the park. There were a large variety of trees and plants and we stumbled upon lots of animals that my daughter was so excited to see. There is a learning center where you can see all the types of animals that are native to that area. They have many fun learning resources, including a shop where you can buy toys, books, various gifts, and even plants and compost. There are classes offered as well. I highly recommend parents take their kids here or just go on their own for some quiet relaxing walks.

This is a wonderful place with more natural animals and plants. This place has many protrusions so pedestrians can go deeper and explore. Volunteers provide full support with documents and maps to identify and confirm objects. Many colorful flowers of many sizes and shapes, with many diffused scents, perennial trees growing in the forest, and nuts. Animals can see most birds, butterflies, squirrels, and insects. This place is suitable for children to explore and learn about nature. There are also many attractive souvenirs if guests need to celebrate

Free nice nature reserve located in Huntington Beach. They do ask for a $3 donation which helps maintain the area. It is open on a walk in basis Tue, Fri, and Sat from 9am-1. You can schedule a field trip for children outside of the walk in hours listed. There is a garden section which certain items are available for purchase. There is also a building with artifacts and other nature related items on display. They are always looking for volunteers to ensure the safety and care of the habitat to allow it to remain open. There are many well maintained trails located around the reserve with signage provided for information based on the area you are in. No pets, drinks, or bicycles are allowed in the reserve.
Wild F — Google review
No entry fee just suggested donation of $3 per person to assist in keeping the gates open and the habitat safe. It was like stepping into another world, a forest, a swamp, a big garden, the redwoods..different habitats. Hard to believe that its within the city of Huntington Beach near businesses and schools. A must for anyone wanting to enjoy the outdoors and different habitats and species of animals without driving hundreds of miles and camping somewhere. Can visit and experience it all within one day, plus the park nextdoor is full of outdoor activities fot the family as well. Great place in a great area.
Abel M — Google review
Shipley Nature Center is a wonderful nature experience with paths, learning presentations about gardening, plants and the native animals, birds and butterflies There are presentations, events, musical events and kids classes. It is delightful for all ages. The only times you can get in is Fridays and Saturdays between 9 am - 1 PM. It’s only $3 to explore and enjoy Shipley nature center. Here’s yet another natural addition to Huntington Central Park! This beautiful section of the park is open to the public on select days and hours, as with the summertime programs. Here it’s possible to see the nursery with native plants, learn methods of conservation, composting and vermiculture. The loop trail provides a pathway thru nature. Trees, shrubs and animals, including squirrels, rabbits and birds may be seen along the way! Going thru this part of Huntington Central Park seems to complete the overall natural experience! Especially satisfying as part of a hike thru the main park with scenic walking trails, the secret garden, open green space, shaded picnic areas, ponds, lakes and Urban Forrest.

10 stars! Minus 1 star for not being open much. This is a great place to bring the kiddos to learn about the awesomeness of nature. Or just come by yourself and stroll around the trails, find a bench, sit amongst the tranquility, read a book or just watch the clouds roll by.

Parks
Adventure Playground in Huntington Beach is a unique outdoor space offering various activities for kids. It features a small pond where children can enjoy rafting using sticks to guide the rafts. The playground also includes rope climbing, a mudslide, and an area for building forts. Situated within Central Park East, this location provides access to other attractions such as the Central Library, art galleries, amphitheaters, and sports complexes. Visitors can also grab a bite at the dog-friendly Park Bench Cafe nearby.
We had an absolute blast at Adventure Playground! It’s a charming, smaller park tucked up a short hill, packed with creative and active play opportunities. There’s a shallow pond with inner tubes and paddles, a plastic-lined mudslide (more of a safe water slide than true mud), and a rope bridge that crosses part of the pond—huge hit with the kids! There are also elevated, treehouse-like platforms with large blocks for fort-building, climbing structures, chalk boards for drawing, and dirt tables for sensory play. Tons of space to run around, and plenty of shaded picnic tables and chairs for relaxing. Need-to-knows: Entry is $4 per child. They accept card and cash. Closed-toed shoes are required and must stay on at all times. You can bring your own food, and there are lots of spots to sit and eat. Two shower heads for rinsing off and several changing stalls available. Porta-potties are inside the gate; flushing toilets are near the parking lot. Snacks are sold on-site. I saw seven staff members the day we went—all super attentive and engaged. We knocked over a tub of water in a water fight. Mid water fight brave staff entered the fray to refill our bucket despite other buckets being around. 😆 A large day camp (about 20 kids) showed up while we were there, and it still didn’t feel overcrowded or chaotic. Hope this place stays around for years—it’s a gem for active, messy, outdoor fun!

Great place for kids to be kids and have fun. Water is shallow so it is safer for small kids ( 2 life guards on duty). They have Inner Tubes, mudslide, rope bridge, water gun tubes, giant Legos, axe throwing and giant connect four. Plenty of shade for adults under trees, chairs everywhere. Lunch tables. Porta potty's, one outdoor shower and changing rooms.

Loved it! Clean, well maintained, staff everywhere watching the kids, 'lake' is super shallow (like child size knee high). Enough variety to keep the kids' interest. Outdoor Showers and changing stalls.

It’s not like I remember it, it seems so bubble wrapped now and lame, I pumped this up to my 5 and 8 year old sons cuz I remember his place in the 90s and it was bigger and better and dirtier. The water is MAYBE 18 inches deep. This place would be awesome for 2-3 year olds but that’s really it.. they took out the tree houses , zip lines, the ability to use tools to help build forts and stuff. Instead of tree houses they have raised platforms and legos to build with instead of hammer and nails and saws. It’s just seems all watered down and lame now.

I came here as a kid in the 1970's and 80's, and we brought our kids in the early 2000's. Hopefully I will be able to bring our grandkids here one day. Just a safe, fun place for kids to play outside.

Tim Sawyer at the pond for kids. FIRST…No flip flops. 2nd, they are open summer only. $4.00 what? WOW such a deal. Kids play on the slide and in inner tubes. Bring a chair and a hat, limited tables are available. Make a day of it and bring lunch. Change of clothes and some zip locks. There’s a life guard ❤️😊

The Huntington Beach Art Center is a community gallery offering a variety of cultural experiences, including art exhibits, music performances, lectures, and classes. It all began with the City of Huntington Beach Public Art Program in 1976 and has since grown to include contributions from artists like Edmond Shumpert. Situated by the beach, visitors can enjoy both artistic and waterside activities. The center showcases diverse artwork such as paintings, photographs, videos, and drawings by local and national artists.
I first time participated the Center of Centered hosted by them to exhibit and sell my works. I am so grateful that they are giving artists a chance with a friendly participation fee compared to other organizations. This place is loved and supported by the local people.

Huntington Beach Art Center is a wonderful gallery and an absolute gem in Orange County. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. I recently attended one of their openings and was very impressed with the caliber of the art on view in their beautifully immaculate, museum quality space. The curating here is top notch & it’s a quick 10-minute walk away from the pier. I cannot wait to attend more openings here!

Huntington Beach art museum is a wonderful community treasure. Their slogan where art meets community is spot on We recently went to an art show there and it was wonderful. The artists were there and we had to chance to talk with them personally about their vision and their art. 🖼 There’s lots going on - exhibitions, events and education. This is the latest exhibit. If the shoe fits. Art on shoes - so interesting. The art classes are great - plenty of different classes. Find your niche and paint away. Enjoy your stroll through this community art center.

Rating given based on misinformation and lack of accountability. It was my first experience visiting this HB art center and I’m disappointed. If an art exhibit is “on view” from Oct 21 - Dec 16 and gallery hours on Saturdays are usually 12-5pm, why was the center closed to the public on Saturday, December 16? The front doors were locked today when I arrived at 3pm, the employees looked hesitant but one opened the door to tell me the art exhibit closed Friday, Dec 15 and that the center is closed today in reservation of an artist council meeting. They looked at me like I was supposed to know that somehow. Where was the information that the center is closed on this particular Saturday posted? Certainly not on the exhibit postcard, exhibit poster outside the center, website, or front door. Now I’m hesitant about returning to the center and trusting the employee’s invitation to “check out the next exhibit in January”. I suppose my tip is to not visit on the first or last day of their listed “on view” schedule.

John Baca Park is a large 14.35 acres park settled near neighborhoods off the main road. There is decent parking on the street, a little library, a playground, and possibly the biggest all grassy area of any park in HB. 🚻 🚫Restrooms 🐕 This park is ideal to bring your dogs to 🧺 Tables and Benches for picnics or sitting. 🏞 Large Grass areas 🌳 Few Trees for shade 🚗 Parking on the street at all entrances 💧🚫 Water Fountain 🗑 Trash bins 🏀 Basketball Court 🏐 Volleyball Court 🚲 Trail or path thru the park 📕 Little Free Library 🛝 2 Playground Units The playground is rather large sand area with rubber matting at the landings and at the perimeter of the units. Its done is a wave-like-shape so the kids love kids up and down the little hills and it keeps the sand in. You will also find swings with 2 for infants and 2 full sized swings. There was no sign on this unit but similar playground structures are usually intended for ages 2-12 years old because of the design however each entrance is stairs so they need to be able to climb a little. It has a long bridge to run along , 4 slides, monkey bars, and Fireman Pole. Although this park is a great spot to visit for the playground so far we have taken a preference to the trails around the grass and through the natural area that cuts into the neighborhood. There are some really scenic spots here and its easy to spend a few hours here just enjoying a slow pace on a beautiful HB day!

Disc golf course
Huntington Beach Disc Golf Course is a popular spot within the city, offering a great location for disc golf enthusiasts. Situated in a beautiful park, it provides a unique experience away from the beach but still close enough to enjoy the coastal atmosphere. The course's scenic surroundings add to the challenge of the game, making it an enjoyable and competitive activity for players of all levels. Visitors praise the helpful staff who provide assistance to newcomers and maintain a friendly atmosphere on the course.
Great disk golf location within a great park, as it’s one of the best things about Huntington Beach, without the beach! Still close enough to the ocean for an optimal comfort level. There may be as much as a twenty degree temperature difference, considering seasonal extremes, between here and inland courses! The scenery adds to the ambience of the game, while providing distractions and obstacles, making the sport more challenging! The cost of three dollars per person weekday’s and four dollars on weekends and holidays is negligible, considering the care and improvements, not to mention the exclusivity that may slow the general park goers from stepping over at random into the players field of play. The course also features a dedicated parking lot with a pro-shop and port-a-potty’s. I like the all encompassing park here. It’s possible with endless possibilities at the adjoining park sections, as a hike, picnic, more sports and activities with friends, family and the kids that can fit in the schedule. I’d advise to park accordingly, as the Huntington Beach Disk Golf Course parking lot can get crowded on weekends and holidays. 2024 rainy season has helped to rejuvenate the lawn, so it may be time to get on the green and get on with the game!

This was the first time I ever played disc golf, so I wasn't sure what to think. The course is part of Central Park in my hometown of Huntington Beach, which is a really amazing place. I went to check in and found the "clubhouse" rather comical, but truly, it was everything that I needed. However, upon first glance, it reminded me of a snack shack at a low-end little league complex, poorly run by the teams' older and unmotivated sisters. But like I said, I shouldn't have passed judgment so quickly, as the attendant was very nice and he had a giant of a puppy that was very happy to greet everyone. The price was so low that, even with rental discs, I honestly don't remember the exact amount. But at less than $10, I can't think anything that you can do for two hours for a better value. The course, even though it wasn't all that large in acreage, felt larger based on the nice and varied layout. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a sport, but I really enjoyed trying a new-to-me recreation. The only negative that I have to add was that at times, it was difficult to understand where the target was. But in the end, I came to accept that as part of the adventure. To add one more positive, dogs are allowed to tag along, and my little chihuahua had a great time and slept for a very long time after all that exercise.

Great course, lots of fun. Free parking, $3 to play but they'll wave the charge if you purchase something at the shop. Friendly service and the players were very helpful on our first visit showing us the course layout. Some holes overlap each other and it was packed (national disc golf day) so was tricky to figure out which basket to shoot at. I will comeback again.
Christopher S — Google review
On a holiday weekend, not too busy but had more foot traffic as the day progressed. Little disc golf shack open, portapottys and trash cans at the parking lot. $3 to play. Perfect weather for a first time run through HBDGC!
Michelle W — Google review
This is a gorgeous disc golf course. The layout makes sense, and the signage is abundant. They have a little pro shop to pick up some new gear and snacks. There is a little park down the hill from the course in case you have some kiddos with you. I will definitely be returning.
Violet F — Google review
One of the worst disc golf courses I have ever played. Small area with 18 holes crammed into it and nearly every hole you have to worry about players being on the fairway of the hole your on. Gave 2 stars since there are a couple of challenging holes at least.
Chris Z — Google review
Very VERY excellent folks operating the place! If you're brand new to the sport like me, get a starter set of discs, and they'll be wonderfully helpful. Cannot compliment them enough 😎 Thanks Andrew Now, a year later, still can't speak highly enough of (owner brother) Ryan, the great Kyle, the great Andrew, and whoever else, including the fact that everyone treats everyone in a cordial/respectful manner on the course at all times! Again; if you haven't Disc Golfed B/4, or if you haven't played this course (Paul Macbeth's childhood course), get on over here 🥏⛳
Mark H — Google review
Being a visitor in the Huntington Beach area, this was the first time I have ever had to pay admission to play disc golf. However the $3 fee was well worth it to play on this sublime course. Visitors are greeted with the admissions office that doubles as a pro shop with a wide variety of discs, and even some T-shirts for sale. There is no shortage of practice baskets, and maps along with score cards are also provided. There is a fair amount of elevation change on certain holes, but it makes for a nice challenge. The mixture of open space and trees was nice. There was ample shade without the trees being too obstructing. This doesn’t mean that you won’t be hitting trees however, and the notches and marks that line them are evidence of this. The course is very well maintained, and the indicators showing the way to the next hole are very clear. I like the fact that each hole has a set of A, B, and C holes which adds variability depending on the day. The smell of the ocean, and the wandering ducks that frequent the shady areas complete what is a quaint experience.

A beautiful park near the edge of HB and the old oil fields. The wetlands backs up rather close so there are plenty of nearby trails to venture off to and parking is abundant either in the lot (which closes around 6pm) or at the street areas nearby. The workout equipment is fun and functional offering even disability friendly options. There are 2 age appropriate options for playgrounds; a toddler friendly side and older child playground with a zipline (currently needs greasing so it doesn't work well) makes this a good spot to visit. The swings on the toddler side are still locked up due to COVID but the park is big enough to enjoy without them.

We visited Gibbs Park recently. What a beautiful park. Very well maintained by all the volunteers. The tall pine tree surrounded by a fence with a variety of plants inside was a sight to behold. The number of eucalyptus trees is sure to bring lots of butterflies! It also keeps the park nice and cool. On our last visit, we passed the tree and entered a different section of the park. On one side, and higher ground, was a playground for children. On the other was an expanse of grass and some scattered trees. At the end, was what looked like a drainage area. Yes, the area is for excess water to prevent flooding. Right now, it’s a great area to run your dog! The butterfly area is better.

This peaceful place thankfully exists in the middle of mostly shapeless suburbs, of which I reside. It is a remarkable monument to the retention of some sense of the beauty of nature, hidden in the middle of a more recently developed part of Huntington Beach. Highly recommended, and very dog friendly.

Nice and relaxing park. Love that they have milkweed for the butterflies. Though I do wish there were more milkweed plants for the butterflies to lay there eggs and for the caterpillars to eat as they grow through their stages to become a butterfly.
J W — Google review
Gibbs Park is well known to the locals of Huntington Beach as Monarch Butterfly Park. Every year thousands of Monarch Butterflies migrate here to breed. I believe they are attracted to the eucalyptus trees. When you arrive at Gibbs Park, you will see on the ground is a huge ceramic circular mural telling the history of the park. I didn't know what to expect other than to see lots of monarch butterflies hanging from the eucalyptus tree branches and yet did not see one most likely because it wasn't the right season of migration. It's not a big park, rather small yet I felt really peaceful during my walk in the park. There is a walkway in the park that leads to a grassy green circular field (behind the park) which I describe as another world. A beautiful, vibrant green grassy field, where dog owners can allow their dogs to run freely. There is also a small playground for the kids as well. My immediate response, I was lost for words and was just in awwed. It's a serene feeling. I will definitely go back and visit this park again very soon.

Bartlett Park is an incredible 27.73-acres park right in the middle of town. There is ample parking on the street, a beautiful hiking spot or place to ride your bike (but be cautious of pedestrians because many people jog here!) Dog walking is easy here since there is no open space the path keeps people moving. Its extremely scenic in the park and the surrounding area. Bird species are plentiful and likely some local coyotes live closeby. 🚻🚫 No Restrooms 🐕 This park is to bring your dogs for a walk 🏞 Large Open Area (like a preserve) 🌳 Lots of Trees for shade 🦋 Nature Trail 👣 🚗 Parking on the street is ample at all entrances 💧🚫 No Water Fountain 🗑 Trash bin at entrance 🛝 🚫 No Playground at this park As far as I'm concerned this is another one of Huntington Beach's top ten parks and BEST KEPT SECRETS! Despite no amenities this park offers the charm with its introduction back to nature despite being in the middle of the city. Personally this park is worth a drive to and I hope the city decides to invest in a Restroom 🚻 or Water 💧 Fountain here but there is shopping nearby and you can ask to use the theirs if needed.

It’s a neat little trail in the middle of suburbia. Just enough to feel like you’re in nature. However, it’s location brings with it lots of trash, food waste, pet waste and homeless encampments. Also look out for coyotes. They even come out mid day.

Dog Beach, also known as Huntington Dog Beach, is a popular spot in Huntington Beach for dog owners and their furry companions. This one-mile stretch of sand is a haven for dogs to run off-leash, play in the waves, and enjoy the sunshine. The beach provides amenities such as doggie drinking fountains and waste bags for convenience. Additionally, it hosts various pet-friendly events throughout the year, including surfing competitions and corgi gatherings.
First Trip to the Dog Beach – A Wonderful Experience! Today was a special day! I took my brother and my dog to the dog beach for the very first time, and it turned out to be such a memorable experience. It was my dog’s first time ever stepping on sand and playing in the ocean. Watching him react to the feel of the sand beneath his paws and the waves splashing at his feet was absolutely entertaining. At first, he was clearly overstimulated and unsure of what was going on. He was especially hesitant around the other dogs, unsure if he wanted to join in the fun. There were lots of big dogs running around, playing fetch, and splashing in the surf—it was a lot for him to take in. He was anxious and overstimulate. He was unsure of his surroundings and unsure of the water when the waves came up to him. The beach itself had such a calm, welcoming vibe. It was the perfect way to unwind and bond—with both my dog and my brother. We’ll definitely be going back, but more prepared.

This was my second time here at Huntington Dog Beach in 3 years, 2 different dogs. They both loved it. All the dogs that came in contact with my dog were friendly. No issues. Weather was perfect. Lots of room on 1 mile of dog beach. Could not ask for a better day with my boyfriend and our pup son, Hercules!

The beach was beautiful! We came as a group of 4 adults, a child and 3 dogs. We got there around noon and there was plenty of parking. It was on a Thursday that we went and we stayed about 3 hours. The beach was very clean. The dogs had a blast, it was their first time and we had no problems with any other dogs even though one of ours is a barker. Definitely going to recommend this beach to all my dog parent friends. Parking can be paid at a kiosk or by downloading a app. My only gripe was that the beach is down a hill and is a bit of a hike but now we know not to over pack.

Parking can be a bit of a hassle if you go during peak hours but honestly it’s so worth it. Definitely one of our new favorite spots.

Heavenly dog beach A real blessing along an otherwise unwelcoming-to-dogs-on-sand Southern California coastline (exceptions include Rosie's in Long Beach and dog beach / lagoon in north Del Mar, San Diego County) Long and broad; gradual drop to the water Far enough from the highway for most dog owner's peace of mind Clean overall and well-maintained Tends to have good water quality (low bad bacteria count) Lots and lots of nice dogs; people too Good amount of parking but challenging on the weekends Mind-bogglingly wonderful for most dogs and people Please please keep it beautiful and accessible by picking up and disposing of all waste

Huntington State Beach, located on Pacific Coast Highway, is a 121-acre sandy stretch popular for surfing and swimming. It features an 8.5-mile paved trail and is a great spot for activities like volleyball, basketball, hiking, and biking. The beach also serves as a protected sanctuary for wildlife such as the least tern and snowy plover. Visitors can enjoy beach bonfires in the concrete fire rings while taking in the scenic views of the Pacific coast.
Huntington State Beach was amazing. Our family visited on July 31, 2025; and we loved everything about it. As a State Beach, it was what you'd expect: friendly state staff (parks and beaches often have friendly, helpful staff, decent prices ($15/day parking) and we'll maintained facilities. The natural side of this location was also stunning. Large beaches with lots of sand to handle thousands and thousands of guests, and better waves than many other beaches in the area. Overall, an amazing beach that is 100% worth the visit.

Nice beach. Fairly clean. Very quiet. Still doing well after years. Easy parking. Nice place to relax and people watch. Can't complain!

This beach is a true coastal gem, known for its sparkling clean sands and crystal-clear waters. It's incredibly well-maintained, offering a safe and relaxing environment for everyone. Along the shore, there are volleyball courts where people gather to play under the sun, adding energy and fun to the atmosphere. Rescue teams are always on duty, ensuring safety for swimmers and peace of mind for families. A wide, well-paved walking path runs parallel to the beach—perfect for morning jogs, leisurely strolls, or walking your pet while enjoying the fresh sea breeze. Palm trees sway gently in the wind, and the air carries the calming scent of saltwater and sunscreen. Whether you're looking to unwind, play, or simply watch the waves roll in, this beach offers the perfect escape.

Huntington Beach truly offers a fantastic experience for a family day out! I absolutely love coming here because it consistently has ample parking spots, which makes our arrival so much smoother. The restroom and shower stations are always clean and in working order, a huge plus when you have kids. My little one has a blast here, spending hours happily playing in the sand and enjoying the waves. It's also a great spot to watch the surfers, which adds to the vibrant atmosphere. Highly recommend Huntington Beach for a fun, hassle-free beach day!

Beautiful sunset observation location. Great place for the kids to come and enjoy some sand and Pacific Ocean. Not overly crowded here. Short drive from Disney. Has bathrooms if needed and a pay to enter location so it’s not full of rowdy ruffians.

Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is a 1300-acre coastal wetland in Southern California, home to over 200 avian species. It's a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and outdoor lovers, offering activities such as hiking, biking, birdwatching, and water sports like surfing, canoeing, and kayaking. The reserve is known for its diverse wildlife, including egrets, pelicans, and sandpipers.
Great place to watch birds and go for a hike. Runners, birders and walkers share the trails. Plenty of clean, informative signs at every lookout point. Most of the scenery is near ocean side with oil rigs on the northern end. It cuts off on eastern end for mating birds. Some pretty pink flowers there to mark the spot. A crosswalk at the parking lot on the east side for pch would be helpful for those who want to cross to the beach side.

It’s an easy hiking area through beautiful nature. We’ve seen many birds, lizards, fish, squirrels, rabbits, and even coyotes. Fortunately, the coyotes were on the other side of the fence. Just be aware when you’re hiking. The trails are easy for kids to walk and very well-maintained. It was even easy enough to push a stroller through the trails. You can see the ocean on the other side of PCH. The sunsets are gorgeous. There are lots of benches if you want to relax and enjoy the view. We usually park in the lot off of Warner Ave. It’s free. It’s not a large lot, but we haven’t had any trouble finding a spot.

Easily a top 3 bird watching spot. They have so many species it it impossible to keep count. Getting there is super easy and also parking. I was blown away and captured some amazing shots of some migratory and not typical birds. I highly recommend this spot.

Flowers are not fully blooming yet but still very beautiful. Perfect place for bird sighting. We went on a week day, not crowded at all, which was perfect for us since we wanted to take pictures with flowers of my beloved dog's paw print. I'm always looking for easy to moderate trails, and this is an easy one, excellent for a serene long or short walk.

A great nature reserve next to Huntington Beach. It has a long bridge connecting to a small island you can walk to. Very beautiful but windy due to location. Perfect for an after dinner (or before dinner) stroll, bird watching, or nature enjoyment. Don't miss it if you're in Huntington Beach. Caution: no restroom

A great place for a nature walk and bird watching right off Hwy 1, across the street from the beach. There are occasional signs sharing information about the area and the birds, and benches to rest and appreciate the beauty around you.

Great place to get a walk with cool sea breezes. There were birds and fish to look at that made it pleasant. Much of the trail was poorly maintained and some areas were not marked. There was also lots of urban infrastructure visible including pumping facilities, and oil jacks. The parking was limited so I recommend getting there early if you want to park at either end of the trailhead.

Central Park Dog Park, located in Huntington Central Park, offers a fenced area where dogs can roam freely without leashes. The park has separate sections for large and small dogs, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all furry visitors. Visitors can appreciate the natural setting while their pets socialize and play. Despite some concerns about wood chips and dirt, the park provides ample space for dogs to run around and interact with others.
The ground cover is a type of bark (no splinters) so ignore reviews that mention it. Great park for dogs with large area but not so large you lose your dog. I like the hills and the mounds that the dogs jump around. Lots of seating both at the top of the hill and at the bottom. I will definitely be back.

Our dog likes this dog park. Friendliest pet owners are here! Another dog park near here was not friendly at all. It shocked me. So, we are happy at HB dog park where friendly pet owners are and room for big dogs to run & roam. A lot is shade trees. Like being in a forest. mulch is used on the ground which dogs seem to have no problems with. So happy here & my dog is happy here too! also, has a tots park nearby and walking paths with a lake & cafe. Just PERFECT!
Mere — Google review
I love the fact we have a leg we can walk around there's a lot to do here however, for the dog park area. I'm sure it's cheaper on the park to use these wood chips but for little dogs it's not easy to play and run freely catching a ball and have good grip without hurting themselves. Lattice stumbling and falling. The wood chips make the ground way too deep for proper running an engine and enjoyment with other dogs. I'm sure it's perfectly fine for bigger dogs but not in the little dog section I do wish you would do something different. Also put up more signs that the owners need to be able to control their pets. I can't count how many times my pet gets attacked due to its size.

Overall, it's a nice place to take your doggie for a nice day out. It's a large area for the dogs, plus if you have a leash, you can walk around the parks. Many, many wonderfully created trails. The parking lot is ample and also features a lake, playground, and nearby eateries. It's always a joy to come. Plus, there is also a pet washer bath next to the dog park. On a scale, a strong 4.0. Would appreciate a bit more cleanliness and offer more seating 💺, but the park makes a great and positive impact.

One of the nicer looking dog parks I’d have to say! This area is a beautiful nature spot for dogs and their owners to relax and play in a natural setting. I stopped off here to meet friends with their dogs before heading off to a nearby picnic at the Huntington Central Park West Dual-gate entrances for large and small dogs allow for the safe transition from leash to loose. I was impressed by the set-up as I enjoyed watching the dogs interact together. It’s within a large tree covered area of Huntington Central Park with parking, restrooms and seating for the owners. A wash hut may provide a nice alternative to washing at home when open.
Jim K — Google review
As soon as we walked into the gate, my dog started getting attacked by another dog. Biting, growling and fighting, not playing. I could not allow that dog to hurt mine, so I attempted to pull her back by the collar and got bit by the aggressive dog in the process. The owner, though friendly was, very quick to say it was my dog. My dog is well trained and NEVER aggressive. The lack of accountability was offensive, and the groupies at the dog park left with her. No one even offered me help me while I had blood dripping from my hand. As humans, we really have to do better. I'm in the ER now, and she's probably at home enjoying her day
Christopher C — Google review
NOPE. Just don't. I was told about this dog park from a neighbor and decided to go. But the entire place is filled with WOODCHIPS. My dog had a hard time running on them when I took him to the big dog zone (which was friendlier for him) and eventually just gave up and sat around. You try to run on sticks barefoot and see how you like it. Also dogs are dogs, and plenty of them were just sitting around, and eating the woodchips. That and the Small Dog Zone had very aggressive dogs. I let my dog in there intially, and he was instantly attacked by 3 chihuahuas & a scotty and ended up with a cut on his lip. The Pet Parents here did nothing to help, even when they heard my dog squeal. They just responded with "that's just how these dogs are over here." So I just don't recommend it. There's plenty of better, more beautiful & fun dog parks out there, with better people too. This place is honestly just a vet emergency waiting to happen. Don't go. Save yourself a trip to the vet.

My weekday secret getaway when stopping by for a bag lunch picnic! This is a moderate sized neighborhood park, with room to walk the dog and walk ourselves, tables to eat at and water to swim in! The tree shaded spots make a great place to relax and take it easy. Kids love the atmosphere, with the playground, kid friendly beach and beautiful scenery, with birds and squirrels! There’s restrooms, parking and containers for disposing empty lunch bags! The weekday’s are very quiet with room to spare, tho weekends and holidays may be cramped and crowded.

SeaBridge Park is a wonderful hidden little park that backs up to the harbor. There's a few spots for barbecuing along with some concrete tables and scattered benches. Some beautiful large trees grow out from the edges of the park providing plenty of shade. Here you will find a pirate themed playground for older kids (5 to 12 years) complete with tightrope and plank. Some scavenger hunt activities are posted around the park that can even encounage the adults to participate! There's a 2 swings for bigger kids, 2 toddler swings and a parent and me swing for the littles. Plan accordingly as this spot is easy to spend a day at. 🚻 Bathrooms are decent complete with showers to wash off the sand. Nicely shaded beachy access, especially great for parents with younger ones. Lots of trees in the park area but be warned they drop some kind of fruit that looks like fig and its all over the sidewalk. Kid park area was nice even for 11 year olds. My 9 and 12 year old girls love the park area and enjoyed the swings. They do have swings for the babies and toddlers with the leg holes and the regular swings. Beach area seemed pretty clear of glass, smoke buds and other random dangerous stuff you may find at the regular beachy areas. Lots of room kn the sand and mostly parents and their little ones with an occasional teen and/or college kid tanning or reading. Not many creepy transient people either. Great spot to have a full on picnic with some water play time. Parking is plenty and there is a bathroom. Enjoy this sweet spot in the cut for the next time you don't want to be around the crowds at the beach with your babes.

This review is based only on the 7 new pickleball courts..photo attached. The court is on pavement, and it is raw pavement with some minor bumps and imperfections/high or low spots. Very low fence surrounding the entire court area. Would be a cool place to learn but it isn't ideal. I am unsure why they did this. Pavement will destroy your shoes..its all pretty rough and frankly a waste of money.

We went for the playground and it was OK but not great. The climbing toys were pretty old and faded but still seamed safe for use. They have 3 different sets of toys so there is a good variety. If you kids love sand then this is the park for them! So much sand there. Be sure to bring your sand toys.

Definitely good for teens, skaters, and people who are home-challenged. There's plenty of space to fly a kite or race RC cars. Not a bad area for outdoor space, especially older kiddos. Great for pets with plenty to sniff. Conveniently placed pet poop bags and disposal stations add to the parks pristine grounds. A great place for casual canine socializing. Feeling active? Have sone energy to burn? Want to practice you skills? Edison Park has an abundance of opportunity! Several baseball diamonds, tennis courts, handball, lots of basketball courts, play grounds for the kids. Picnic beneath the mighty shade trees. Enjoy the day out doors!

Another good, good sized park in the City of Huntington Beach! The large city park has just about everything. There’s a community center with restrooms. There’s tennis, handball and basketball courts. There’s playgrounds, a skatepark, baseball fields, and plenty of open green space to play an impromptu game of football or soccer. This park for it’s size seems to be lacking unsheltered picnic tables. The few roof covered spots tend to get taken on busy days, so additional shade tree or open space tables may be in short supply. There are park benches however, tho it may be preferable with some to just plop down here on the grass! Also, for the popularity of the skatepark at the times I’ve seen it, there was a lack of bowl space that could’ve been dug out for more experienced skaters. Parking is available along Hamilton Av or in either of two lots off of Magnolia Street.

I enjoy the natural landscape with the cool ocean breeze, about a mile from the beachfront. This large, open space park borders the Banning Bike Trail and is within close access to Canyon Park, where public parking may be found. I like to park there and bike in thru to the Balboa Street entrance, off 19th Street. The naturalness of the park is a coastal asset, with dirt sand paths meandering thru past a seemingly endless variety of local shrubs. I’d recommend a dirt bike or scooter with knobby tires, to easily ride thru the sandy soil and on thru the BMX Dirt Trails! The downside with some of the trails is hiking and riding without appropriate footwear, bike or scooter wheels, when using that which is intended for pavement. My favorite time to ride or hike here is on overcast days, as it is a largely open area without much sun cover. Restrooms are off the beaten path, as the adjacent Vista Park by the Victoria Street Bridge is close for comfort! Access to Santa Ana River trails may be at Victoria Street or off the Balboa Street entrance, although the latter may turn out to be haphazard thru multiple paths and a slippery dirt slope up to the paved river trail. Unless familiar with the more westerly pathways, I’d suggest a study of Google Maps Satellite View before going this way.

Not happy with the way my mother is being treated here. I suggest if you have a loved one in any skilled nursing facility, get an attorney ASAP. My mom is completely in mobile bedridden. In fact the second day she was here the meds nurse named Paul who was a complete jerk to her woke her up at 5 AM to give her her medication. They are always supposed to wait for you to take your medication so they know you took it and usually if they are nice, they help you with water. My mom was disoriented. She had just woken up. He left the medication there for her and walked away my mom is blind in her left eye, and she couldn’t find her glasses so she’s reaching, and she ended up falling out of bed and hitting her head so hard that she has a laceration above her eyebrow had to be taken to the ER and get suturesand I was never contacted about this and I am her power of attorney. I cannot tell you the disappointment I have.

Been going to this jewel of a park for nearly 40 years. And since then, ive seen this park grow and grow into a magnificent city park. So much of this growth has been in the last 10 years. From a redesigned dog park, new bridge layout by the lake, the city / community horse park and to a new senior community center and Frisbee park, growth has been exponential. In high school, much of the park was just the lake the playground and the nature center. Since then, the area has seen a Renaissance! The the urban forest has been a tiresome endeavor; a labor of love. Now the new mini natur park has multiple trails, separate mini eco areas of interest and room for bikers horses hikers and walkers joggers; even your pets can enjoy the area. Overall, it has around 1 to 2 miles.of trails, many picnic tables and a grand view for photo takers. Couple with other areas of the park, you can easily make it into a 5 mile course. Parking, thats the hard part. There's a small area by Ellis street, around 4 spots safely. I would recommend the golden west side, by dog park, you'll find enough space there. In addition, a nice trail will lead you to the urban forest. Now , for the bikers, please be careful, slow speeds. For horses 🐎, a relaxing stroll. For walkers and runners, you'll enjoy your time. Access for bathrooms, water fountains, and facilities, most located by the main park. Overall, a strong 3.95 to 4 25. Clean place Safe place Multiple uses Missing... water fountains and parking and more trails for runners or walkers to the south east.

Volunteered at the Urban Forest and had a great time pulling weeds! No pressure, beautiful landscape, cool May breeze blowing through the area. They provide gloves and shovel. Parking for visitors off Ellis is limited to about 6 cars, but volunteers can drive past the sign to park. I didn't know and parked at the dog park off Edwards. From there, it's a scenic walk to UF if you don't mind getting extra exercise. I'll be back to weed and help keep this place beautiful. Jean is wonderful!

Semi-regular here as this place is one of my dog walking spots. The local volunteers are constantly working on this place so it's very well kept and maintained. Small hills for the additional exercise and easily connects to HB Central Park. Definitely a hidden gem and very fortunate to have a place like this close by.

Urban Forest is a community-driven effort, having been an extraordinary success with the natural landscape! HB trees has helped to continue the great work here and further inspire the naturalness of the land. A natural map display, provided by HB trees, has been added and can be seen by the upper park trail entrance! This quiet piece of land is located at the southwest end of Huntington Central Park, just adjacent to the Equestrian Center. It makes a nice walk-thru for local residents, with a trail that connects from the residential area trails south of Ellis Ave. I enjoy time at Huntington Central Park at my leisure. If possible, including the extra walk in the forrest makes my park visit more enjoyable! There’s a small parking area just off Ellis Ave. For those who opt to park at the park, where there’s more available spaces, the Urban Forrest trail starts between the Dog Park and the Equestrian Center. The south park trail goes up a hill along the way, over a good view spot, where hikers can look back down on the park lake. From there, all one has to do is turn around and look left, or southeast, to see the beautiful plants, flowers and trees of the Urban Forrest! Taking the trail fork left, just past the Equestrian Center, will end up at the garden and then the forrest. Walk-ins are welcome!
Jim K — Google review
What a hidden gem. The beautiful trees, plants and flowers are breath taking. The park has benches and seating to enjoy the atmosphere and a meal. The trick is getting there. We parked our car in the senior center and walked through Central Park and the equestrian center on Edwards then turned on Ellis. It’s a long walk but it’s beautiful walking along the water to get there. Discover and enjoy this cute park which is kept up by volunteers.

Bauer Park is a family-friendly park that offers fun activities for the whole family. Visitors can enjoy playing games, riding bikes or running around, or just taking in the natural beauty of the park.
Clean and quiet. Near a nice neighborhood. You'll feel safer here than many other parks like Edison in the area. Lovely magnolia trees

A rather large 2.04 acre park settled between neighborhoods with little parking and lots of grassy area. 🚻🚫No restrooms so plan accordingly if you don't live nearby 🐕 This park is ideal to bring your dogs to Lots of benches and tables for picnics including a covered area 🏞 Large grassy areas 🏀 1 half basketball court You will also find 2 large playground sections all covered with rubber matting on the ground. The younger children section, intended for ages 2-5 years, contains 2 swings for bigger kids and 2 infant seats, with a semi-circular rock climbing area, and a unit with 2 slides and various climbing entrances. The larger side for older children has a wavy climbing wall, a rope net climbing apparatus, and a large playground unit intended for children 5-12 years old. The playground has a medium sized 2 person racing slide, a singe rider slide of the same height and a much larger open slide along with various ladder entrances and a musical bell piece at the entrance. There is also modern monkey bars. Note: found some damage on the playground and reported it to the city thru the app

This is a fun park for my 8 year old niece to play in. They have a 2 playgrounds right next to each other offering nice equipment for younger kids up to 5 on one side and 5 and over on the other. The playgrounds and grass area are well maintained and clean. The only reason i give it a 4 instead of a 5 is that there are NO restrooms available.
Dawnne K — Google review
Overall the park is great! However, the grass area needs improvements .. can be worse, but can be better. There is a bunch of holes from squirrels and dry spots. It be nice to expand the kids area with something different. All the bars are nice..nothing unique.

Triangle Park is a convenient spot to pick up takeout from nearby Main St. and enjoy it while relaxing on the grass under the shade of a tree. While waiting for kids, one visitor savored sushi from Sushi on Fire in this park. Although there's a library on-site, it appears to be closed due to COVID-19.
Perfect spot to park your car if you're going to the beach ⛱️ It's a small park, dog seem to love it especially. 🐕‍🦺

Great place to grab to go food from Main St. and sit out in the grass under a shaded tree. I got Sushi from Sushi on Fire and ate it at the park while waiting for my kids before getting them from school. Has a library but seems closed due to COVID. Parking is good. Don’t recommend if you are thinking of taking kids. It’s not a “park” park. It’s just a very large size grass area behind the library.

Neighborhood park featuring a kids' playground, tennis courts, picnic tables & baseball fields.
Typically, I go through this park and use it as a access point to get to the Santa Ana Riverbed Trail (SART) enjoying the little League fields. Today I was fortunate enough to enter this park as a little league game was being played and took note of the extensive facilities available for little league players including multiple fields and pitching bullpen. I also noted the tennis courts.

LeBard Park is a huge 11.49-acres park settled near neighborhoods,. There is decent parking on the street, a modern playground and a handful of amenities like baseball or tennis surrounded by an all grassy area. 🚻 Restrooms open during baseball games 🐕 This park is decent to bring your dogs to 🧺 Benches for picnics or sitting. 🏞 Large Grass areas 🚗 Parking on the street 💧🚫 No Water Fountain 🗑 Trash bins 🎾 Tennis Courts (about 4) ⚾️ Baseball Diamonds ⚽️ space for Soccer but no goals setup The playground is rather large rubber matting area containing 2 playground units. One of the playground structures is intended for ages 2-5 with climbing structures and swaying platforms that stay mostly stationary and another for 5-12 years old. The bigger structure is all ropes and climbing structures, a tire swing, some slides 🛝 and a zipline. Near the park is the Santa Ana River where a bridge goes over the water way, there's a bike path, and the route takes you to the beach. You'll find people fishing, walking and hiking through the area. This modern park is overall great park to spend the day at and plan for a picnic or watch a baseball game and might be my favorite in HB!!

Cute little park that was redone after the demolition of the old school. The restrooms aren’t open if there are no league games being played. Close access to river bed too.

Great park. This is a good spot to start your run.
Photography O — Google review
Great park! The playground was refurbished and there so much to be had. The tire swing damaged my ACL and sprang my ankle but that was mostly my own fault. The tennis courts are cracked a bit but still very playable. However many tennis players do not respect the rules. The wait time should be an hour long MAX, and on multiple occasions we have waited 2+ hours. Even though we told the players beforehand that we were waiting. The baseball filed is also lively with kids playing occasionally. Other than that the park was great and really fun to hang out with friends.

Local football games are played here. While I was there, I saw multiple people with their dogs out playing and seemed to be a very friendly area for them. If you have a dog, I recommend the stop! The playground is small but well placed in the center of the park with best access on the Baywater Lane side. The sand area contains a playground unit and swings area with 2 infant swings. One of the playground structures is intended for ages 5-12 years old. The structure offers slides and stairs to run along with the larger unit having some more climbing options added, monkeybars, an off-center spiral bar, and various types of ladders.

Clean, lawns immaculant, paved walking path for walking, skating, bikes, etc. Very safe environment. Many dog owners walking doggies and having a pleasant time, meeting the same, and dogs usually get along. A jungle gym sanded area for children, basketball court. No restrooms, so keep in mind when planning a visit. The park is very clean, everyone that visits seems to do their part. I have never seen trash outside the bin. Those that visit seem to return.
Jane V — Google review
It's a great park but those who let their dogs go off leash should watch them--that is, little dogs rushing up to big dogs and barking in their face. If they do that to the wrong dog, there could be an accident. If a person let's them off leash, they could put them on leash when someone else with a dog approaches them.

This park has plenty of space and ♿ parking available and plenty of shade from trees 🌳. Sitting in a triangular shape the park has maximized its potential. Here you'll find large grassy areas, a 🏀 basketball court, 2 playground areas and a covered picnic table area. Benches and 🗑 trash cans are also scattered throughout. Both playgrounds rest on rubber padding. One playground suitable for younger children  has some stairs with a could of slides, including one that fits 2 kids together side by side. Clean, quiet neighborhood park. Respectful visitors, large field. A playground and swings for the little ones. The city recently upgraded the playground equipment. Just so happened to pass this park and we loved it! I'm not sure if it's always quiet. But the day we went no one else was there. Big open grass area for kids to run, swing set, climbing walls, music corner for little ones. And trees close by for adults to sit under.

It's a spacious field but that feeling quickly goes away when it's taken over by practices. The unsanctioned ones are a little scary (hope everyone is insured). It's middle of the road in terms of local parks where people think it's an off leash park. The coyotes are here a bit more than at other fields but the learning is better here.

Really fun place to take the kids. There is a scavenger hunt kids have fun looking for the animals, it's all set up right there at the playground. The only negative thing about this park is the only shade to sit in has no bench, and the only place to sit on a bench is in the full sun. We all know in the middle of the day in the summer, that can be a brutal place to sit. If you remember to bring a couple lounge chairs and a blanket and sit in the shade you will have a really enjoyable time.

One tier to watch my niece play softball. They have four fields that are fairly nice but the grass is just a mess. You would think that they could invest a little money into the fields. It's nice to have a place for the kids to play softball but they should invest a little bit more into the fields than just water.

Perry Park is a charming and relaxing spot that's perfect for a quick visit before or after work. The park features updated equipment, although some of it may be sun-faded, and offers a few picnic spots. It's relatively small but has both sunny and shaded areas, making it an ideal place to unwind. With plenty of shade trees and well-maintained lawns, Perry Park is also great for families with young children.
Clean park with updated, yet sun-faded equipment. A few of places to picnic. It's a smaller area with some open sunny places and some tree shade.
Jeff E — Google review
Perry Park is a cute and rather large neighborhood park with 1.88 acres mostly of grassy space with trees for shade. The Park has no restrooms available so plan in advance. Its a perfect spot for to accompany the school next door. I could see picnics here are ideal and from other's reviews it appears to be a great spot for dogs to get their exercise. There is definitely ample street parking directly in front of the park as long as the neighborhood is not busy. So, I can imagine this is not a park to visit during school drop off and pickup times due to the size of the area in comparison to available parking. There are two tiny play structures to accommodate ages 2-5 years old and 5-12 years old. Both have a few slides and climbing structures to include a pole and monkey bars, along with 2 sets of 2 swings: one for infants and one for kids. The playground itself is placed on both rubber matting and sand. Only unfortunate thing to note was the giant tree in the center of the park on many of the previously posted photos was taken down and a stump was left. As a result the park looks like it could use some repairs or updates.

What looks like a nicely laid out Park with large fields and a small playground is also not a place for young kids. While visiting this park with my kid we were met by some local residents with their dogs off the leash. We expected these particular pups as they were featured on the Google Reviews for the park so when pulling up we found no hesitation to exit our car despite being approached by these 2 sheep dogs. The black and white one, "Zero", would eventually within minutes of arriving bite my kid's face while they attempted to play fetch. This dog did not wag its tail at any point but continuously dropped a ball at my kid's feet then would snap at my kid with any attempt to pickup the ball. Our dog being a puppy sometimes gets as rambunctious so we monitored their play but the owner sat chatting nearby oblivious to the dog'sbehavior. The owner had little concern for the event and blamed the dog breed. Not making much deal of it we left after I examined my kid and stressed to the owner this dog should be leashed at all times especially with a sign posted nearby and being at a playground designed for kids. The owner seemed to barely comply and based off other reviews for this park it would appear its best to use it for dog walks but not children visits. Overall the park had nice grassy areas, a few benches and picnic tables along with a single full basketball 🏀 court, swings and playground likely intended for small children. There was a large sandpit surrounding the swings including two infant swings and 2 large. The playground included 3 slides of varying sizes, monkey bars and assorted ladders and stairs for climbing. Also be prepared for no restrooms. It was a nice park but with the dog incident its safe to say we will not be back.

What's with all the off leash dogs? This park and others. Can't let my kid run free for fear of all the dogs running around and the owners just watching from across the field. It's really annoying, and it's like this at almost every HB park. The city needs to do something about this and soon.

Both structures offer slides and stairs to run along. The playground structure intended for 5-12 years old offers some various climbing ladders, spiral monkey bars, small balance bar, 2 slides, an off-center spiral pole to twist down and Fireman Pole. There is also swings with 2 for infants and 2 full sized swings. As far as I'm concerned this is another one of Huntington Beach's top ten parks and BEST KEPT SECRET! Despite no amenities this park offers the charm with its introduction back to nature despite being in the middle of the city. City park
A beautiful and spacious 2.37 acre park tucked away next to the school. This park offers older kids (ages 5-12 years old) and adults a place to get some energy out. Here you will find 5 slides varying in size and decline; a spherical web of rope for acrobatic climbing; a few ladder-type climb options; a rope bridge; and finally a workout space. The open field is perfect to bring your pets or go on a run. On a hot afternoon the trees add adequate shade so this spot is also perfect for a picnic. Be aware there are no restrooms here.

5/5 Cleanliness, safety: 5/5 , very quiet, next to a school and neighborhood around. It starts noisy when kids off school around 3pm. But it will be fun overall. Gymnastics: 5/5, small one for adults, a few equipment for kids Public restroom: NO :( 4 slides, no swings Picnic table: No. Shades: many Grass field: big enough to play freebies with dogs. Really love the theme, green and blue combination makes this park very attractive and peaceful.
Thanh V — Google review
Local park in our neighborhood but mostly great for school age play, not much for toddlers. Well padded surface and there's a mini par course too! Lots of grass behind for dogs too _trash cans nearby but no seating for parents or restrooms

Park
McCallen Park is a large 5.84 acres park settled near neighborhoods. There is decent parking, and an all grass area. 🚻🚫 No Restrooms 💧🚫 No Water Fountain 🐕 This park is ideal to bring your dogs to 🧺 1 Bench (likely added by a neighbor since its wicker and falling apart) 🏞 Large Grass areas with trees 🌳 🚗 Parking in the Boys and Girls Club lot is ample 🗑1 trash bin This park is not much to see with the soccer goals and baseball fence all falling apart. Behind the nearby Boys and Girls Club is a nice playground and sports arena that is completely gated off from the public. There is absolutely no access to this area per staff. This park is in serious need of community resources and upgrade.
Rebecca C — Google review
the grass is very worn out, the soil is very hard when I was practicing soccer I hit my foot on the ground a few times and it was like a stone. there is a lot of garbage and holes. some holes even got into my foot. it is more dangerous for children and dogs. it is very dangerous to run here. if your foot gets into the holes, it can break. the location is very beautiful but poorly maintained. this place needs urgent maintenance

Park
Bushard Park is a large 2.38 acres park settled in a neighborhood. There is decent parking on the street, a playground and a gazebo surrounded by an all grassy area. 🚻🚫 No Restrooms 🐕 This park is good to bring your dogs to 🧺 2 Benches and 2 Tables for picnics or sitting 🏞 sizeable Grass area 🚗 Parking on the street on all 4 sides 💧🚫 No Water Fountain 🗑 2 Trash bins 🌞 Gazebo The playground itself has little shade and the equipment is in a sand area with some rubber landings. It contains two modern playground units and a circular swing big enough for a few kids or one to lay on it. One of the playground structures is intended for ages 2-5 and another for 5-12 years old. The smaller unit for 2-5 years is very limited containing a slide and stairs. The other unit for 5-12 years is a suspension design with various ropes and mechanisms for play in a more modern design. Overall this is a great park to spend the day at and could be a great spot to host an event. Plan accordingly since there is no bathroom or water fountain.

Nice park, dog park. Took my dog here to play fetch and ran into a bunch of deceptive women. I was disrespected, stared at, pushed my dog off. Don’t come here around sunset.

I bring my G-kids here to play hide n seek; and they love to dig in the sand. There are a lot of dogs with owners, thus more dog poop that didn't get picked up, watch where you step.

44Seely Park

Park
People, and dog friendly. Afternoon doggo play dates are common. Usually a good time, however, sometimes a park ranger will pass out tickets to owners whose dogs aren't leashed. Clean, easy access, nice amenities park.
Chris M — Google review
I've lived n the community 54 years and have fond memories of this park. However, about every 5-10 yrs., there's always a person who calls animal control on a daily basis. In short, have your pup on a leash to avoid a ticket. There's plenty of good parks around the area.
Kevin C — Google review
Seely Park is a 3.37-acres park that was reopened March 28th, 2024 with upgraded equipment mimicking some of our newer more popular parks designed more for older kids in mind. 🚻🚫 No Restroom 🐕 bring your dogs 🧺 Benches for picnics or sitting. 🏞 Large Grass areas 🚗 Parking on the street is limited 💧🚫 No Water Fountain 🗑 Trash bins 🏀 half Basketball Court 🛝 Playground ♿️ 1 Accessible Swing The playground is rather large rubber matting area containing 2 playground units. One of the playground structures is intended for ages 2-5 with climbing structures and swaying platforms that stay mostly stationary and another for 5-12 years old. The bigger structure is all ropes and climbing structures, a tire swing, some slides 🛝 and a zipline. This park feels small but the new equipment mimicking 3 other parks all found at this location does make it something special! I would recommend stopping here and its is one of the most accessible parks in HB.
