The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway offers a unique experience, taking visitors on a scenic journey through Chino Canyon to the mountain station. The tram cars rotate as they ascend over 1 mile, providing breathtaking views of the Coachella Valley and its nine cities. Once at the mountain station, visitors can explore Mount San Jacinto State Park with its 50 miles of hiking trails, observation decks, natural history museum, and documentary theaters.
Absolutely incredible experience! The Aerial Tramway is a must-do in Palm Springs. The ride up the mountain was smooth, breathtaking, and surprisingly peaceful. The rotating tram gives you 360° views of the desert, cliffs, and forest—unlike anything else. At the top, the temperature was refreshingly cool and the views were spectacular. Whether you're up for a hike, a bite to eat, or just want to take in the scenery, it's well worth the trip. Staff were friendly and organized, and everything felt safe and well-maintained. Truly one of the highlights of my visit to Palm Springs. Don’t miss it!
Cindy A — Google review
View and ride up was spectacular. Did a 2 mile hike. Be aware it's much colder up there than where you park. After our hike the tram had electrical issues. Luckily we weren't stuck on it. It was down for several hours. Luckily it was back online that evening to take us down.
Anthony L — Google review
The tram is a fun experience and lifts you 8500 feet above the desert to a much cooler environment. We hiked to the summit of San Jacinto. We moved fast but if you are going to hike be prepared with water and some food. Also be prepared to scramble up some boulders at the summit! The mountains are covered with a forest providing some shade. Wear good shoes for hiking
Mark C — Google review
What a great way to spend the day! The ride up was fun—just a little scary at times—but much easier on the way down. There are about five lookout points at the top with stunning desert views. The hike wasn’t too difficult and is manageable for kids, with a couple of loop trails to explore. The facilities at the top are well-maintained, making it a comfortable visit. Overall, a great day adventure and a perfect escape from the valley heat.
Matthew — Google review
The experience was excellent. There was no wind to speak of and the ride was super smooth going both ways, but steep and perhaps no ideal for people who are sensitive to heights. The views in the car and ontop of the mountain are spectacular. The food was well above average. The hike opportunities are nice and not very strenuous, although the high altitude and the thinner air will exert your body disproportionally. Would recommend the ride to anyone who is not fazed by heights.
Dimitrios T — Google review
I absolutely love this place. It makes for a great escape from the heat of Palm Springs. Just a 3 mile drive outside the city and you are on your way up to the state park and 30 degree temperatures relief. Huge pine trees and relaxing environment.. great trails and fun bar to visit after a long hike.
Kara M — Google review
Had an excellent time sightseeing, exploring the visitor center, and of course riding the tram itself! On a clear day, you can see all the way to the Salton Sea. Staff are friendly and kind. It's best to get in line as early as possible in the boarding area, for you to ensure a place near a window. A few of our fellow guests were just a little rude, but that is to be expected in any tourist destination. It's also highly recommended to buy tickets days ahead of time, because during busy times like holidays and weekends you might find yourself with a multi hour wait for a walk-up ticket.
Emily B — Google review
Very cool place to visit, the nature and vistas are really beautiful also a great way to exercise since it took us almost 2 hr to walk around and enjoy couple of spectacular viewing points. Definitely must see if visiting Palm Springs.

Tahquitz Canyon is a stunning natural wonder in Palm Springs with ancient rock art, wildlife, and lush vegetation. It's a popular destination for hikers and picnickers who can enjoy the scenery, along with a visitor center that provides information about the area's history.
This is a perfect hike for individuals and families. We arrived at the trail around 9:00 am on a Saturday and were able to purchase our passes very quickly. The cost is $15 per adult. There is very little shaded area on the trail so be sure to come prepared with a hat and sunscreen especially on warmer Palm Sorings days. They also require each hiker to have a minimum of 32 oz of water with them on the trail. The trail has some moderately strenuous parts where you are climbing some stone steps but it’s easy to take little breaks throughout the trail if need be. The waterfall at the end is very pretty and refreshingly cold and shaded so a great spot to relax before the hike back. I saw lots of young kids and families enjoying the small swimming area near the waterfall. There is a bathroom at the visitor center and plenty of parking.
Lara — Google review
$15 per adult. Short hike, but it does come with some challenges. Restroom facilities are available at the visitor center, and you can fill your water bottle there, as well. In order to hike into the canyon, you must also show that you have a certain amount of water, which can change depending on the weather, temperature, etc. The waterfall is flowing really well right now (late February 2025). Popular hike and the parking lot fills quickly. Enjoy!
Robert M — Google review
If you are visiting and exploring the area this is a great place. Easy for all ages and still very enjoyable with views. The staff was super friendly and pleasant. Nice easy hike for us vacationers!
Fran V — Google review
This is a really great hiking trail close to downtown Palm Springs. It’s a well developed and well maintained trail, but a little rocky and rough in places. It takes about 40 minutes to an hour to walk back to the falls. In the dry months (Winter months) there is very little water coming over the falls. Also, in the Summer months the heat can be stifling as the dark rock formations in the canyon absorb the heat. I would not recommend this hike on a really hot day, especially if you are not in great shape. Absolutely no dogs are allowed on the trail, and they require that you have at least 32 ounces of water with you. If you can join one of the free Ranger guided tours, I would recommend that. The tribal guides are a wealth of information. The views of the valley and the rugged scenery are beautiful, too! We were lucky and saw a few bighorn sheep on our hike, but I understand that they are a pretty rare sight. Definitely add this trail to your list.
Mark P — Google review
Great hiking trail. Alejandrina made sure I had water and all the information needed to start my hike. The staff was great including the park ranger.
Gabe B — Google review
If you like nature, waterfalls, and desert scapes, this is for you! The trail is not hard, but there are 90 or so steps to walk up on the way to the falls. The views along the way are spectacular 🙌 There is a $15 entry fee, which is well worth it.
John R — Google review
Well recently I’ve lost some weight so I decided a two mile hike is something I should be able to handle. Pulled out my hiking boots, pulled out my water backpack and off we were. Wasn’t too bad,?had my heart a pumpin, but it was very doable. A nice refreshing swimming pool with some shade the help me cool down at the end of the waterfall. A bunch of people swimming, enjoying the cool refreshing water. The return trip to the parking lot was easy and mostly downhill. The parking was easy and big enough so we didn’t have to wait, they require everyone to take 32oz of water with them, and they do sell water if needed. They charge $15 each person, but it’s a fair investment. Restrooms in the office is helpful after a hike. Give it a shot, it’s worth it for an easy hike.
Fixitfast P — Google review
Quite nice and not too difficult. They have "free" parking but the trail costs $15 per person. Considering the trail is only about 1.5km's it's a bit expensive but we still really enjoyed our time here. You do get some nice views and the canyons geology was impressive.

Indian Canyons, located in the mountain foothills of Palm Springs, is a collection of canyons that hold great cultural and historical significance as the ancestral home of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. Visitors can explore Tahquitz Canyon with its guided hikes to a 60-foot waterfall, Andreas Canyon featuring unique rock formations and lush plant life, and Murray Canyon where lucky hikers might spot endangered Peninsular Big Horn Sheep.
My favorite hike in Palm Springs, California is Indian Canyons, which offers numerous surprises. The park features multiple trails, but Palm Canyon stands out as a highlight. Walking through the lush palm forest feels like an oasis, providing ample opportunities to rest and take in breathtaking views. While some trails are quite long, others offer shorter alternatives, although the trail markings could be improved. The park is expansive, with ample parking and restroom facilities. If you're fortunate, you might even spot big horn sheep on the road, which is a delightful experience. Andreas Canyon is another notable feature, boasting stunning waterfalls and streams along the hike. Be prepared for long lines at the entrance, but they typically move quickly. Admission fees are $12 per person, not per vehicle. This destination is suitable for visitors of all ages.
E.C. — Google review
Such a beautiful scenic area. Definitely worth driving there and to the different trails especially if you’re not a seasoned hiker (like us). The rangers were really helpful and recommended the Andreas Canyon and Palm Canyon to us. The Andreas Canyon was a totally achievable hike for two novices. Bring water and some flip flops if you want to wade your feet in water.
Katherine L — Google review
Andreas canyon trail was a great little hike. Says 1 mile round trip. Not too bad. Can be done some where between 20 and 30 minutes. February would definitely be a great time to visit high 60s to low 70s. May through September would need to bring some water. Not free costs $12 per person but worth it to see it.
Doug A — Google review
It is a beautiful, amazing place for a hike. You can choose a short or long trail. Lots of amazing palm trees. The Google map is extremely limited in this area, and even the map given at the entrance is incomplete (the river was not even shown!), so be aware and cautious.
Atieh A — Google review
This is my favorite canyon to walk in the area. There is a good stretch of canyon walk with palm trees then more hiking trail. The canyon is easy walking. The other hiking trails are more strenuous and out in the open - sun! Plan accordingly, bring a camera, water, snacks, sunscreen etc. There are places to sit and rest along the way both with benches and not.
Rob N — Google review
Chose to come to Indian Canyons on my last day of vacation, it was definitely the right decision. My wife and I loved the scenery getting to see the stream and palms. Definitely planning on coming back to explore more

Totally blown away! !!!!! 🌴🌴🌴😱😱😱😱 A beautiful and tranquil destination for nature lovers and adventurers. Indigo Canyons offers a serene escape into nature with its breathtaking landscapes and peaceful ambiance. Perfect for hiking, photography, or simply unwinding, the canyons are rich with vibrant colors and unique rock formations that create a truly mesmerizing setting. The trails are well-maintained, suitable for various skill levels, and provide a quiet retreat from city life. It’s a hidden gem for outdoor enthusiasts.
Aitana B — Google review
The park features stunning palm trees and a serene oasis. There is a parking and entrance fee and discount for students. In summer, visitors should carry at least 3 liters of water. The park is open only from Friday to Sunday during the summer season.

Moorten Botanical Garden, a historic landmark established in 1938, is a hidden gem in Palm Springs. It showcases over 3,000 varieties of desert plants and cacti, some of which are exclusive to this garden. The one-acre estate was built by Chester Moorten and his wife Patricia and serves as a living museum of desert allure.
This is a hidden gem in the valley! is not only a wonderful place to show your children all the different types of desert plants and flowers but it is super affordable. I also love to buy the mini cactus plants and give them to family and friends as present. Very calm and serene environment. Highly recommend!
Saturn R — Google review
I went here last October and absolutely loved my visit. The people working were fantastic and were happy to answer all of my questions and chat. It’s small and I thought it wouldn’t take long to get through, but I think I ended up spending 3 or so hours. It’s a great place for plant lovers and they have so many interesting plants. They also have great plants for sale. I bought five plants and four months later they are all thriving. The people running the garden are so knowledgeable and passionate. I can’t wait to go back and I highly recommend spending at least a few hours here!
Hannah S — Google review
A nice cacti garden to walk around in. The staff was very friendly, and offered guided or self guided tours. Was fun to walk around and see the various cacti, other vegetation, birds, tortoises, lizards, and a hummingbird nest. Was a fun relaxing area to meander through.
Nicholas W — Google review
Wow! What a beautiful gem in the desert. Every year, for our wedding anniversary, we go to a different botanical garden from around this country. They have all been amazing, but this one is the best one yet. We met Clark Moorten, the owner and curator of the estate, and he was the kindest, sweetest, most knowledgeable man we have ever encountered. We never really imagined visiting a desert themed garden, full of so many varieties of cacti & succulents, as well as, birds and tortoises. Despite the high heat of summer (110 degrees F), it was still such an eye opening experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, if you enjoy botanical gardens.
Thomas M — Google review
Tucked just off the main drag in Palm Springs, Moorten Botanical Garden and Cactarium is a slice of desert paradise that feels both timeless and otherworldly. This compact, one acre garden may be small in size, but it’s absolutely overflowing with personality, charm, and thousands of fascinating desert plants from around the world. Originally established in 1938 by Chester “Cactus Slim” Moorten and his wife Patricia, the garden is still family owned and proudly rooted in local history. The Moorten family’s home dubbed the “Cactus Castle” adds a vintage vibe to the property and is just one of the many quirks that make this place so special. The main attraction, of course, is the Cactarium - a shaded greenhouse packed with rare and exotic cactus species that look like they belong on another planet. From tiny, fuzzy succulents to towering spiky giants, there’s something captivating around every corner. The garden is thoughtfully laid out with paths leading you through different arid regions, including South America, the Baja Peninsula, and the Mojave Desert. It’s also incredibly photogenic, with light filtering through spines and blooms, perfect for photographers and Instagram enthusiasts. For just $5 admission, it’s one of the best deals in Palm Springs and a peaceful escape where nature takes center stage. Whether you’re a plant lover, history buff, or just looking for something unique, Moorten Botanical Garden is a must-visit desert treasure. 🌵🌞
Aparna K — Google review
My group went to the botanical garden for our friend’s birthday and we had a spectacular time! Barry the tour guide was informative, kept us inquisitive, and he had a fun sense of humor. 10/10 would recommend visiting the garden and asking if Barry is available.
Niyah K — Google review
If you love succulents and cacti like I do, you have to visit Moorten Botanical Garden in Palm Springs. I stopped by this past January and it quickly became one of my favorite spots of the whole trip. It’s a small, family-owned garden tucked right in the middle of the desert—and it’s packed with hundreds of stunning cactus varieties, rare succulents, and desert plants from all over the world. Every turn felt like a tiny alien landscape. 🌵🪴 The best part? The Cactarium—a vintage-style greenhouse filled with the most Instagram-worthy spiky plants you’ve ever seen. It was hot, wild-looking, and completely magical. They also have a little nursery where you can buy plants to take home. I couldn’t resist—I bought a couple and had them shipped back to my house because TSA doesn’t love spiky souvenirs 😅 It’s peaceful, weirdly romantic, and a total vibe if you love desert beauty. You don’t need a whole day—just an hour and an appreciation for plants with personality. Don’t skip this gem next time you’re in Palm Springs.

Mount San Jacinto State Park is a hiker's paradise located at the peak of Mount San Jacinto, accessible by tram from Palm Springs. The park offers 54 miles of diverse trails suitable for all levels of hikers, from leisurely strolls to challenging treks. One popular trail is the 2.5 mile Round Valley hike, known for its stunning views and serene surroundings.
The most convenient way to get to the park is via the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. It will elevate you to 8,516 feet (about 2,6 km.) $15 parking + $33 cable car will get you Incredible photo opportunities (plus a couple of hiking trails.)

Really beautiful in autumn. There are multiple easy trails/loops that would be manageable for small children. However, not the best for disabled people as the way down from the visitor center is steep and may be difficult to go up and down.
Rory — Google review
I loved the atmosphere of this campground with its incredibly tall trees. I only gave it a 4 star because many of the tent sites were badly eroded as well as the parking places for them. Electric sites are available however it appeared that the only site w/ water hook up was the handicap site next to the rest room.
Hiker S — Google review
Breathtaking view taking the aerial tramway. It is worth every bit of the cost and experience. Staff are friendly and courteous and you can buy a ticket that includes a meal when you get there if you like. There are options. There are gift shops and you can spend some time there. This is most definitely worth The experience.

Okay, some basics. Mt San Jacinto State Park is huge and actually a wilderness rather than a typical Park. The place where the Palm Springs tram drops you off is up near the peak, far far from 25905 CA-243, Idyllwild-Pine Cove, CA 92549. The ranger here said there's no road to get there, you have to tram or do a steep 7 mile one way hike. This Google Map location should actually be called the CAMPGROUND for this "California State Park" as that's all that's here. The huge trees and restrooms are nice tho.
Paul R — Google review
The homes near Idylwild are moderately difficult. Helps to take water and plan on taking breaks if you are not used to strenuous hikes. The views are exceptional

Excellent hiking trails. So beautiful when you get to the top of the mountain.

We came to the park via the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway for our anniversary! There are 5 ‘Notches’ along the 1.5 mile Desert View Trail, and those lookouts are spectacular views of the valley below! Can’t wait to come back and hike longer, there are over 50 miles of trails! It’s much cooler (40 to 50 degrees cooler from the desert floor) atop the mountain, so it’s a perfect activity during the summer

The Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts. Located in the heart of the desert, this 280,000-acre monument boasts palm oases, hot springs, and snow-capped mountains waiting to be explored. The center offers interactive exhibits and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. It's an ideal starting point for hiking adventures through well-maintained trails with expansive views and abundant wildlife.
I went there early in the day during the week. The parking lot fills up fast, but there is still plenty of room for cars. The visitor center was closed, which meant one of the lots was blocked off and no restrooms. Now for the positive, what a beautiful place. Tons of hiking and breathtaking views all around. Close enough to the city, but far enough away that you can really enjoy the environment and beauty of the park. Also a great place to setup for a Parks on the Air ("POTA") activation, if you're a ham radio person.

Starting on our way back East on our cross country trip with a visit to this national monument. Very nice visitor center. Informative and welcoming, the park rangers were very knowledgeable and suggested trails to visit. In our walk we spotted so many humming birds!! There is an area for a turtle, but we did not see it (even though a veggie lunch was laid out for its enjoyment). Accessible, wide paved pathways. Bathrooms and a gift shop. Plenty of parking.

The view of Santa Rosa and San Jacinto mountains is nothing short of breathtaking. Standing at their foothills, I was humbled by their sheer size and grandeur. The rugged peaks, often snow-capped, contrasted beautifully with the desert landscape below. Whether seen at sunrise or under the starry night sky, the view was a reminder of the wonders of nature. It's a must-see for anyone seeking awe-inspiring vistas and a connection to the power of the mountains.

Pretty cool visitor center. Make sure to take a stroll around the property. There's also a couple of hikes from the same parking lot. Apparently, they have some problem with thieves, but we really didn't see any of that!

Just a 15 minute drive from the resort we stayed at Palm Desert, our guide says there is a .5 mile, 1.5 or 2.5 mile hiking path. We did the 1.5 mile hike. It is recommend for ages 14 and older, but I took my 10 year old daughter and she was fine and could have hiked longer. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone younger than that, as there is an incline with uneven paths that might not be easy for toddlers to go. Nice experience for someone who lives in NorCal suburbs.

The garden is amazing. Visited here as part of Friends of The Desert Bird Walk About. Mark was our guide, and he shared his wealth of information freely. If you like the outdoors and want to experience the area with or without a camera... this is a wonderful venue. The facility is beautiful, the garden is impeccable and hospitality is outstanding.

Santa Rosa and San Jacinto National Monument has a wonderful interpretive walk. Desert plants are identified. And due to the winter rains, blooming plants are abundant. The Preserve also supports a variety of birds such as White-winged Dove, Costa’s Humming Bird, Gambel’s Quail, and my favorite, Phainopepla, a special bird, indeed! Spring is the time to visit, as summers can get very hot.

The Fountain of Life, located in Town Square, is an award-winning interactive fountain that combines visual beauty with a water sprayground feature. During the summer, it becomes a popular spot for people of all ages to enjoy splashing around in the water. The surrounding area features whimsical mosaic work, orbs, and animal sculptures that contribute to a relaxing and joyful atmosphere.
I love this fountain! I have visited here with my son for more than 15 years. It's so fun to walk into the fountain and feel it sprinkling on you! The mosaic work, orbs, and animals all around are so whimsical. It's relaxing and leaves you with a happy feeling when you visit this place. The Mary Pickford movie theater is right across the street. You can catch a film, check out the memorabilia in the theatre then bask at the fountain. Such a great place!

This used to be a wonderful place for kids to cool down and splash around in the heat. But now they've closed it you are not allowed to touch it only look. One more thing your local government is taken away from you. Thanks Cathedral City for wasting our money on this.
Shawn P — Google review
Despite what the picture show, this is NOT A SPLASH PARK anymore. It's fenced off with signs telling you to stay out. My kids were very disappointed.
Haley K — Google review
This is been one of my favorite places to go over the last several years. It's located in downtown Cathedral City and is currently undergoing some construction so the water is turned off but when the water is Flowing it's really wonderful and the kids are playing in the water during the summer months and people will lay nearby on their blankets and you know just relax or have picnics. It's right across from City Hall and a theater with around maybe close to 20 screens and a lot of parking and tons of restaurants and other businesses there. The city has done a wonderful job in getting businesses to come into the area and there's still a lot of open land there and I believe it was originally allocated to be a hotel but now it's area that's used for all different types of festivals and other activities in the city. I like taking my dog there for a walk and enjoying the the Green Grass and just letting her sniff everything and she always enjoyed the kids because she'd get lots of attention so it's a it's a special place for the city of Cathedral City and also for nearby visitors and out of town Travelers as well

Wonderful pace to take your little ones! I first came here over 10 years ago on a hot summer day ! And now I have the privilege of bring my toddlers . The best part of everything is that it is free ! Even parking ! Thanks Cathedral city for this amazing 👏 like water park 👏

Free, kid loved it, thing to do in the heat. The water was good and cold, not chlorine-smelling, other kids and parents very cool, excellent amount of shade around. Shady grassy spot too. Like Tucson, stay in the shade and it's cool. Should be on Palm Springs' things to do with kids. Thanks Palm Springs!

The city web page says you can jump in and cool your feet here, but the whole thing is locked up tight by a portable fence.

DeMuth Park is a popular destination in the Palm Springs area, offering various recreational activities for visitors of all ages. The park features a vibrant playground, well-lit tennis courts, and baseball fields. It's known as the go-to spot for pickleball enthusiasts, with 12 well-maintained courts that attract players of varying skill levels. Additionally, the park boasts amenities such as soccer fields, a dog park, and a community center.
I am always being asked to rate this park over the years and I'm always saying about the same thing that it is a wonderful place to go to walk your dogs for picnicking for soccer for softball anything you feel like doing there's so many available opportunities. There is a great playground for the children brand new equipment a nice canopies coverings over the entire area and also new restrooms individual restrooms and very very nice work that the city has done so there's not much more to say but you know check it out if you're interested

This is a review for the playground part of the park. We absolutely love this playground. We passed by a few playgrounds before choosing to go to this one, because I thought that the background looked amazing. And since I was resting before a hike, I want to let the kids play, while I had a good view. It's clear to see that locals love the park as well, because there were some people who were having a birthday party here. I can see why this would be a popular park since it is so large, has great parking and an ample amount of place to sit down. I will say that I am disappointed with the bathroom situation. There were metal toilets, and it wasn't as nice as I would assume it would be, being that it is in Palm Springs, California. The bathrooms don't even have a faucet inside. You have to open the doorknob and go outside to the communal faucet next to where people fill their bottles with the water. Kind of gross. Overall, I would come again, but I would make sure to have a large bottle of hand sanitizer (which thankfully, we did).
Maria F — Google review
One of my favorite places to bring my large, aggressive breed dog to run off leash while drinking Modelo in glass bottles then smashing them on the grass for others to step on. If you are like me and love the smell of raw sewage in the air, you'll find this park the perfect place to burn the hairs out of your nose. Also check out the multiple homeless living in the bathrooms and showering outside in the water fountains.

Has alot of path for my youngest to practice riding his bike. What i don't like is when you want to sit down and have a little picnic and theres dog crap in the grass and on the sidewalk. Come on all you dog people. Clean up after your pet.

Sunrise Park is a charming neighborhood nestled just a mile from the vibrant heart of Palm Springs, making it an ideal spot for those who crave central living. This community boasts a delightful mix of midcentury modern and ranch-style homes, many crafted by notable architects like Robert Alexander and Jack Meiselman. The area exudes a nostalgic 1950s vibe while incorporating contemporary elements. Families will find Sunrise Park particularly appealing due to its welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community.
Beautiful park. Having the community rec center there and outdoor basketball courts is great. The playground is large, there are two structures. There are also different options swings. Very peaceful, lots trees and plenty of parking. Good spot to have a picnic as well.

This is a well maintained and fairly large park with lots of open spaces. We are used a large area on the west end of the park to set up for a wedding breakfast send off event. We had room for plenty of guests, set up tables with food and had ample room for everyone and everything. Utilized multiple of the park’s picnic tables. Kids were able to go to the nearby playground also in the park. We had many bystanders checking things out that were on their morning walks through and around the park. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the neighborhood.

This park is pretty awesome. It has two play sets and a slate park. It is right next to the boys and girls club. There is a basket ball court and some rock climbing walls. The reason I gave it four stars is because it has turtle sprinklers but they seem to be broken.

Nestled in the heart of Palm Springs, the Prescott Preserve is a hidden gem offering serene hiking trails and opportunities to observe local wildlife. The preserve features designated areas for public use as well as spaces reserved exclusively for wildlife. Visitors can enjoy easy to moderate trails, making it perfect for leisurely hikes or family outings, especially during spring when wildflowers are in full bloom.
Good birding and walking area. A former golf course abandoned several years ago and turned into a nature reserve by the Oswit Land Trust. Easy to overlook. Enter on the east side of El Cielo Rd. at E. Mesquite Ave. Step over a low chain at the small signs pictured here. No wheels allowed. Google Maps gives a misleading location indicator as of March 3, 2024.

Nice easy trail that was once a golf course. Google maps takes you to a dead-end road if you ask Siri to take you to this preserve. Be sure to park on Farrell Dr., or you may park in the parking area by the abandoned clubhouse off of Mesquite Ave.
M R — Google review
Be sure to go start on the northern side of the pack by the intersection of Farrell and Ramon for the water views. The pond has beautiful oasis views with birds and turtles, but it is very hard to find.
Teresa Z — Google review
This place looks like a blight. Oswit Land Trust should be ashamed. Stick to preserving land outside the city. This place is a serious negative to a beautiful city. If they can't afford to maintain it, perhaps they should sell it, either to a golf course developer or for much needed housing.

Downtown Park, established in 2019, spans 1.8 acres and offers various amenities such as a spacious grassy area for gatherings and events, a playground for children, a splash pad, and shaded seating spots. The park hosts diverse events like concerts, festivals, and outdoor movie screenings throughout the year. Visitors can also appreciate features like water fountains for both people and pets, clean restrooms with private locking doors, art displays including a Marilyn statue and an Amanda Gorman mural.
PS did such a great job with this park! Even though there are usually quite a few homeless people hanging around, there’s so much to enjoy here: drinking fountain (even for your pup!), water refill station, clean restrooms, succulent trail, grass mounds, splash pad, cafe-style tables, historical plaque.. it’s very well designed and a pleasure to hang out in. And of course you can enjoy the nearby art displays, museum and hiking trail!
Riddle R — Google review
This was a great place to stop and sit for a few minutes. The fountain is nice although there was a lot of trash at the base. We originally went to this park for the splash pad area but it wasn’t on. A little more shade in some areas would be nice too, but I bet it’s awesome in the winter and spring. The 4 hour free parking garage that connects to the park is awesome, and there is a hiking trail across the street for the cooler months. It’s also within walking distance to the shopping and restaurant area.
C M — Google review
This spot is a gem if you’re into public art, great photo ops, or just a peaceful stroll during sunset. The large metal sculpture is bold and modern — really cool to walk around and see from different angles. Right next to it is the famous Marilyn Monroe statue, which is massive and beautifully lit at night. Super fun and nostalgic! The whole area is well-lit, clean, and surrounded by palm trees and mountain views, which makes for an awesome backdrop. There’s also a graffiti-style art area nearby that gives it a more urban and creative vibe. Whether you’re visiting Palm Springs or just passing through, this is a must-see spot. Great place to relax, take photos, and enjoy some unique local art. -Pedro Stay tuned. Museum next!

Mount San Jacinto, standing at 10,000 feet, offers a variety of trails and an aerial tram that lead to its summit, providing breathtaking panoramic views. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Hike is a popular way to reach the peak with less effort compared to other routes. The summit provides a unique vantage point where the transition between Coastal California and the Sonoran Desert ecosystems can be observed.
Absolutely blown away by San Jacinto Peak! We took the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, which was already an amazing experience in itself – climbing quickly from the desert floor into the cool alpine landscape. From there, we hiked to the summit, and it was absolutely worth it! The views are just breathtaking – endless ridges, forests, and even glimpses of the ocean on a clear day. The trail was peaceful, beautiful, and filled with stunning scenery at every turn. Reaching the summit at 10,834 ft was an unforgettable moment. The quiet up there, the 360-degree views... it’s something we’ll carry with us for a long time. Highly recommend this adventure – using the tram makes it accessible, and the hike still offers a true mountain experience. One of the best we've ever done!

Backpacked starting at Deer Springs Trailhead. Camping at little round valley. Great views/ scenery throughout the hike. Summit was amazing. As of 7-20-2025 there's still low, but good water flow about 1.25 miles prior to Little Round Valley Campground, and the Creek flowing through said campground is still a good water source.
Richard T — Google review
Amazing amazing views at the top. Started at Marion Mountain Trailhead. Tough hike but very rewarding! Around 12 miles round trip and over 4500 ft of elevation gain. Not for the average hiker. Must train ahead of time to do this hike and need to summit by a certain time in the day (Fall season) to avoid coming back at night. So come prepared, train for this, and start early!
Robert M — Google review
Love hiking here! Has become one of my favorite places to visit that I bought the annual pass!
Janet R — Google review
Beautiful mountain! Great views at sunrise, low snowpack. 4am start and hard snow made for easy traversing. The homie Nick and I even found some Baja Blast mountain dew at the summit. No spikes necessary.
Daily H — Google review
I went on a backpacking trip there, first was the tram, which really swings at each tower, and provides absolutely amazing views of the mountains of jagged rocks and cliffs, and then at the end of the tram we went on a 2 mile hike to our camping spot, at the spot there were a ton of rocks and places to climb, and caves, we found 2 knifes and a snow glove just lying around, one of the knifes was a throwing knife! The next day we packed our day packs and set off for the peak! It is one of the best hikes I’ve EVER done! Make sure to stop at welman divide, that’s the first good view! After the divide it’s actually all good views from there, the trees spread out and you can see all the way to the tram building! Then, near the top is the stone cottage, it’s a small cottage built for emergencies, with supplies and other stuff, and they have 2 notebooks where you can write your name and date, it’s also a good lunch spot. Then after a small climb your at the top! Be careful, it’s all rocks, there’s no trail to hike on, you have to climb over a couple Rocks, at the top there’s a great view of Palm Springs and Perris, also, there’s actually a taller mountain called San Gorgonio mountain, across the valley. The view at the top is amazing! Then we went back to our campsite and messed around. The next day we cleaned up and hiked back to the tram, you know the rest. If you made it to the end of this review, thank you, I kinda went overboard with this review, It was just a great trip, I highly recommend!!!! ;)

Awesome awesome views and scenery. This area is very well maintained. The local tribes have done a service to any visitor, allowing access to the natural beauty of this area. Did the hike next to the creek from the right side heading up as it is also the most shaded side. Was a hot day (well over 100, so took lots of water and sunscreen). Was nice putting our feet in the creek at the top and splashing some cool creek water onto my face. Fairly easy hike with a few rock obstructions. Great views of local flora and fauna.

Absolutely breathtaking natural palm canyon. Wonderful and educational nature center at the top, there is very limited parking however. The hike can be strenuous downhill to start out, but once you are down near the natural spring, the hike is rated easy. There were many senior citizens who made it down the trail with walking sticks they just had to go slow and be careful on the way down. It is totally worth the trip! It is a gorgeous palm tree oasis in the middle of the Sonoran desert.. The nature center sells water and snacks which are required for each person to take with them into the canyon.

Wow! What an unreal place. Seeing a natural palm oasis in the desert was a real treat. It is worth the small entry fee to visit this spot. We walked down a short trail from the visitor's center to the palm Grove and wandered through it a bit. Beautiful in an unusual way. We also walked to the nearby waterfall, but it wasn't flowing much in April. Still beautiful, though.

The David H. Ready Palm Springs Dog Park, located behind City Hall in Palm Springs, CA, offers a fantastic off-leash experience for furry friends. Spanning 1.6 acres of lush rolling grass, the park is divided into sections for large and small dogs to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all pets. Amenities include fire hydrants, dual-purpose canine/human drinking fountains, picnic tables made from recycled materials, solar lighting, and shade structures.
We are vacationing in PS for a few days and our pup needed to run and play. This is a great park, lots of space, but separated areas for big dogs and small dogs. The owners seemed to be attentive to their dogs. People picked up poo right away also. Lots of benches for humans and grassy areas for doggies. The only downside is it's right next to the airport, so the sound of planes and smell of fuel was somewhat bothersome (for me, my dog didn't care) after an hour. Otherwise great spot! Parking lot with plenty of spaces too.
Shireen M — Google review
I've been to dozens of dog parks, and the small dog park at Palm Springs Civic Center is by far the worst I’ve ever visited. First, the grass is nearly dead, leaving large areas of mud. Second, the city allows patrons to leave furniture in the park, resulting in about 40 mismatched chairs scattered throughout. These chairs are unsightly, inappropriate, and potentially dangerous for both dogs and people, as they are low-quality and largely sourced from trash receptacles around the city. They also take up so much space that there's barely enough room for dogs to run and play. Third, many visitors fail to clean up after their dogs. They sit in the dilapidated chairs, often facing away from their pets, and conveniently "don’t see" when their dogs relieve themselves. If you point it out, you’ll likely be met with hostility. The regulars treat the park more like a personal social club than a space for exercising dogs, and they often act as though they have authority over it simply because they've been going there for years.
Kara S — Google review
Just say I'm not a big dog park guy .... but this one had a social speak easy in the middle lol.... not my vibe but a spot worth trying......we walked the boyz round the courthouse & local area great overall experience

Amazing little/big dog park that's friendly to all dog owners. Everything you need is provided from waste bags to water hoses! Plenty of room for your pup to run and play or smell and train. Also has a smaller area for a more secure feel or smaller dogs or to train. Great double gates to enter and exit safely with your best friend. I'm not from palm springs and was just visiting but every time I know that I visit there owns a pup and I have to say this one park was nothing less than impressive upon first visit. Wish it was like that here in San Diego. Lol. I'll be back again maybe within my own two pups. Very nice!😁🤩🐶🐕🐕‍🦺🐈
Cmike — Google review
This dog park has a people problem. The regulars here treat the dog park, particularly the small side, as a personal social club. They don’t clean up after their dogs, or watch their poor behavior. There is a couple dozen random lawn chairs in varying states of condition which make the park look like a mess. On top of that the grass is mostly dead so it’s nearly all dirt. Panorama Park is far nicer.

There's some kind of weird boomer social club that gatekeeps entry to this park. You'll see them on the weekends all sitting together and will ask you to leave if you try to enter. They've got rowdy dogs and don't pick up after them. Do yourself a favor and don't bother visiting unless you want to watch grown adults laughing and insulting you like school kids.

Whenever I visit Palm Springs, I take my two little dogs to this great off leash park. There are two separately fenced areas, one for big dogs and one for small ones. The small dog park has a large grassy area and a shaded area where pet parents congregate. Many know each other from the neighborhood. There are also a few benches and chairs scattered about. I've found both dogs and humans alike here to be friendly. After Cupcake got attacked in an AZ doggy daycare, I have both my girls wear puncture proof vests anytime they're off leash around other dogs. There are also free EV charging stations for my Tesla in the parking lot by city hall. Clean restrooms are located on the east side of city hall, facing the airport. The park was open on Christmas Day, which was wonderful. Check my photos for hours of operation, park rules and closure times. We love this park!

Very nice dog park. Well kept and well stocked. Friendly fur parents that seemed to be genuinely aware of their dogs' behavior and interactions. Just reopened after a month long re-seeding of the grassy areas. It was a good job on that! Spent about an hour and a half there, 10:30 to noon on Christmas Eve. Sat and drank my coffee under one of several covered spots throughout. Threw tennis balls to my ball hog pup. Even if you forget to bring balls, there are numerous ones left for you and your dog to use and enjoy. Other dogs are very willing to run and play with your pup. Shade trees also throughout the park. PS Airport right next door, but almost unnoticeable. If you are a fellow responsible dog parent, I recommend this spot very highly!!!

Desert Healthcare (Wellness) Park is a delightful oasis nestled in Palm Springs, offering a blend of fitness and tranquility. This park features an outdoor gym with various exercise stations along scenic pathways, making it perfect for those looking to maintain their workout routines. Dog lovers will appreciate the pet-friendly atmosphere, as many visitors bring their furry companions to enjoy the space together. The park also boasts a serene meditation garden where guests can unwind and reflect amidst nature's beauty.
Very clean well maintained park with workout equipment. I saw many different birds and plant life. Good spot to hangout.

The wellness park at Ruth Hardy Park is everything and anything you want it to be. Many dog lovers bring their four legged family members to the park for exercise and enjoyment and to socialize with others. People use the park for their daily exercise routines going from each permanent exercise point to the next, located along the pathways. It is also a very peaceful place just to sit on a bench, watch people, reflect and maybe throw in an afternoon siesta. There is also a Saturday morning yoga class led by an instructor in the core of the park as well as other health expos at various times throughout the year.

Came to walk the labyrinth and wasn't disappointed! It's a well maintained little treasure. (The homeless man appears to have moved under the nearby table)

A small park where you can walk your dog and sit on a bench in the shade. Enough parking spaces for cars.

I had a nice walk through the Park and stop at the exercise stations along the way. I gave it a 3 because I wish there were more exercise stations of different kinds. I was thankful to find this because I was traveling.
Lois W — Google review
Very nicely kept park, kids enjoyed checking out the plants & flowers and the little maze at the meditation garden was fun for our 5 year old. Exercise equipment isnt very challenging but nice to have.
Josh C — Google review
Beautiful place to relax and walk. I walked the small labyrinth and tried to focus on positive thoughts but the elementary school is directly across the street and it was recess so it was difficult to concentrate. I found it odd they built this meditative space on the side of the park where the school is, knowing the recess time would conflict with the purpose/practice of the labyrinth.

Victoria Park is a community green space that showcases a playground, covered picnic tables, vast open areas, and breathtaking mountain vistas. The park embraces LGBTQ ownership and is conveniently located near Racquet Club drive with ample street parking available. The play area for children is spacious with plenty of room for playing catch or running around with dogs. The lush grass has been rejuvenated by recent rainfall, giving it a vibrant green color. Additionally, the park boasts majestic trees that provide refreshing shade from the sun's heat.
Beautiful, spacious playground. Lots of grassy areas shaded with trees. Foam ground for play structure. Great canvas sails to shade the playground.

I’m sort of hijacking this review of Victoria Park in Palm Springs to vent, as I know no one will read this anyways. Came here to eat the Albertsons rotisserie chicken, as I’ve started reviewing all grocery store tissys. This series has sort of started taking off on Tiktok, and it’s just a little overwhelming. I don’t really know why. I’ve been posting on Tiktok for about a year and a half now, and went from 7k followers to 17k in a few days due to this series. 17k still really isn’t anything in the grand scheme of things, but idk. It has me in a weird headspace. Part of it is I finally got some traction, and I don’t want to fall off. Part of it is my Tiktok account getting flooded with notifications makes me anxious. Part of it is I feel weird talking about it with my friends and family, as Tiktok to them is just like a little kid thing. Idk. I’m kinda proud but also kind of embarrassed in the same breath. Part of it is I’m 29 years old and still feel like I have nothing figured out. I’m unhappy with my full time job, and thought I’d have a full blown career and family at this point. I’m genuinely such a passionate person in general, and would love to do something I’m passionate about full time. I feel like I’d be unstoppable. Am I the chicken guy now? I guess so lmao. I just have such a love for food in general, as you can really get to know a culture through their food. People light tf up over food. I don’t write this to make it seem like I’m somebody, I’m obviously not at all. I’m just trying to vent. Trying to figure myself out. Prob should’ve just kept this one in the journal, but here we are. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

I have loved this place since we moved here, and now it's even better than before. It's always clean and free of unsafe items. I've been there when it's quite crowded and no one has ever been mean or bothered my son and I. They just put brand new equipment in and it's awesome, we played for two hours the other day and it was so fun, even in 104 degree heat. Thank you so much for working so hard on the playground. Those people had that new equipment up in no time. All of the parks in this community are actually very nice and clean and friendly. I truly appreciate the people who make sure it stays that way. Also I HIGHLY RECOMMEND coming here to ground yourself. The grass is real, thick and it feels so good to sit with your feet in.

Great park in a nice area. The grass is super green with all the rain we have had this Feb 2019. Pics are from my camera drone. Fun place to view the mountains and walk.

Quiet neighborhood park with nice covered young kids playground and green grass.

Walked from our rental house. Beautiful day. The grass was nice and green from all the rain the previous week. They have a kiddie play area very big. Open areas to play catch and run with dogs. Covered picnic tables. Nice view of the mountain's.
Anthony D — Google review
It's usually empty in the morning time. They just updated all the equipment. Just keep an eye out on the grass area. Sometimes, people don't always pick up after their dogs

Frances Stevens Park is a 4-acre green area situated in Downtown Palm Springs. It offers picnic tables, grassy spaces, and a contemporary-style fountain. The park is conveniently located in the center of everything and has a relaxed atmosphere. During the holiday season, it becomes even more appealing with its Christmas tree and decorative lights that enhance its beauty. The park is well-maintained and clean, making it an enjoyable place to visit.
Beautiful well maintained park. The art show there had a great mix of artists as always.

The museum offers a fascinating journey through time. I spent over three hours exploring, and I still feel like I could’ve stayed longer. Each room tells a story, and I appreciated how much effort was put into making everything accessible and engaging.

My experience at this park was awesome, I really love how it’s just in the center of everything here in Downtown Palm Springs and it just feels very chill. I love it especially in the holiday time with Christmas because the Christmas tree and all the lights around just make this place so much nicer like it’s beautiful. I’d definitely be going out here again and would highly recommend it if you’re by downtown Palm Springs.
