Perry's Cave Family Fun Center is a must-visit complex on Put-in-Bay Island, offering an array of attractions for the whole family. Explore the fascinating limestone cave, which is a registered Ohio Natural Landmark and houses a rare underground lake. The Butterfly House is another highlight, where you can stroll among hundreds of butterflies from Costa Rica and Malaysia in a tropical environment.
Maze: Geared towards kids (as advertised), simple, fun). Cave: Pretty neat, and a good starter cave if you've never been in one before. Was an extremely short tour, though, so that was a little bit underwhelming. However, the guide, Jaden, was very cool. We enjoyed the snark. Butterfly House: The staff was very friendly (one woman gave my boys bubbles to keep them occupied while we waited for our cave tour - we were sitting on the front porch and they were getting a bit rambunctious). The gift shop had a lot of lovely and neat things. The actual butterfly house was one large room full of plants. It was hot and humid inside, and full of butterflies flitting about (as one might expect). It was peaceful, yet kind of quietly exhilarating as we sat and waited to see if any butterflies landed on or near us. And they did! Very cool, and would definitely come back.
Hilary B — Google review
Well maintained and fairly difficult course. Holes provide some challenge without being too difficult. Also a maze and butterfly house on site.
David F — Google review
The guide was entertaining and knowledgeable. The stairs are steep, you have to duck your head if tall not to hit the cave ceiling. You can see the whole cave from the entrance. I wish it were longer, with more to see. Cute lil short trip.
Devon M — Google review
Loved Put in Bay! Would recommend going on a weekday so the ferry isn't too crowded. Such a fun day trip for families and friends! Definitely get a golf cart for larger groups, as the hike back from our rental place was very long. The Keys restaurant was a favorite. Went to Perry's Monument for a fabulous view! Overall, great for kids, giving them lasting memories!
Katelyn P — Google review
The cave tour is actually quite nice. It's an amazing little cave. It's nicer than others in the area, and the tour guide does give some interesting history surrounding the caves lore and previous owners. It is a very short tour, though but the views are very nice. It's a good family activity on the island for sure. The steps going down into the cave, though, are very thin and slippery, so just watch out for those.
Zach B — Google review
Absolutely amazing fun, tough putt putt course. The water hazards! Fun place. The cave got good comments it's slippery and you need some decent shoes on. The gift shop is so amazing! Geodes that you can have broke open right there! All kinds of stones and absolutely beautiful stunning jewelry! Definitely a must visit! Friendly helpful staff too! Thank you 😊 I love my new amethyst necklace 🏵️❤️
Lucija C — Google review
Visited multiple times over the years and always a pleasant experience. Lots of activities for families/children (Rock climbing wall, miniature golf, large outdoor maze, butterfly house, gifts shops, treats/snacks, and of course ... the cave tour!). Property and related activities appear to be adequately maintained and pricing is reasonable. Cave tour is a personal favorite, though increased wait times and sellouts for the cave may occur during peak hours/season. Guided tour is fairly short (approx. 30-45mins) and is the perfect amount of time for any impatient children or impatient boomer-aged adults.
Nate T — Google review
It is a wonderful place to spend a good portion of your day. The put put is a beautiful course that has a few easy holes, but all in all, it will challenge anyone with its more difficult holes and water traps with some hidden passage ways along the way. The cave tour is expertly guided and provides great pieces of history about the island, its natives and the war of 1812. Other attractions are there as well!

Park
South Bass Island State Park, located in Put-in-Bay Ohio, is a 33-acre retreat accessible by ferry. The park offers dock rentals, a boat launch, a small beach, cabins for rent and a campground with primitive campsites and full electrical hookups. Visitors can enjoy stunning scenic overlooks of Lake Erie and take leisurely walks through the park's rocky cliffs and beautiful cove. For those seeking adventure, activities like parasailing and helicopter tours are available nearby.
Hubby and I enjoyed a day in Put-in-Bay!! Took boat from Jet Express over and spent the day sightseeing. Used the golf cart package and had no worries. Had a drink at the PIB Distillery (a strawberry dragonfruit margarita, hubby had a couple of beers). We then went to the Biergarten at the Goat. Took our picture at PIB sign at the state park. We finished our day at Hooligans with Peachy Palmers and Irish nachos.
Lacy H — Google review
I had a good time here in the off-season. Not too many drunk people driving golf carts and not too many bugs that time of the year. There's a lot to see and do, you can definitely see it all in two days without rushing too much. One day is possible, but you'd likely be pushing things.
Thirteendays — Google review
Camped 2 week nights on tent only site #123. Site was wonderfully situated along the water front. Will definitely reserve this one again. Restrooms and showers were very nice and cleaned frequently. Staff at front shop was friendly. Campground was clean. Access to boat ramp and dock, nice playground.
C P — Google review
The best campground in the state, hands down. It's small, usually quiet, and has spectacular lake views on several tent sites. Those sites are in demand and book up solid very quickly so if you want to camp here, book your spot as soon as reservations open up.
Tori F — Google review
Great campground to stay at on the island. Also able to catch the sunset while camping this time.
Liana D — Google review
We stopped in to check out the park while visiting the island. We did not camp, so I cannot comment on that. You can get some nice views of Lake Erie. There is also a small beach for swimming. There are picnic areas and shore fishing. We saw some yurts on the hillside, these are rentals. Kayaking and canoeing around the island is also a popular activity.

Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial is a must-visit attraction on South Bass Island. The 352-ft.-tall column commemorates the Battle of Lake Erie and offers breathtaking views from its observation deck. Visitors can enjoy historical reenactments and lessons from park rangers, gaining insights into the War of 1812. The memorial serves as a tribute to those who fought in the battle and promotes peace among the US, UK, and Canada.
This is a must visit if you head to Put-in-Bay for any amount of time. In addition to the monument being an absolute marvel, the amount of history here is incredible. The park rangers are incredibly knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions you have. To top it off, six of us got to ride the elevator to the observation deck for around $30 or so. Go and enjoy.

In summer visiting put-in bay feels even better than any of the other very famous places across all of America. Lovely island, beautiful lake all around, awesome food choices in the island and lots of activities.
Debsankar D — Google review
This site was much more than I expected. I had no idea that it is the 3rd tallest monument in the country. The visitor center is quite nice with lots of displays providing background on Perry and his role in the War of 1812. The grounds are well kept and the monument itself is impressive. Going up to the observation deck was fun and the views of Put in Bay island were stunning. Unfortunately the monument is closing soon for major and long lasting restoration.
Kelly R — Google review
The park is small, but well worth the boat ride out to see it. My kids loved the boat ride, taking the elevator up the tower, exploring the top of the monument, and completing the Junior Ranger activity book. The visitor center has a small museum with lots of information and a small store. There was also an art activity happening but we did not attend. It was a fun day, despite the rain.
Jennifer W — Google review
We really had a great time visiting Perry's Memorial. Half the fun is getting there. Its only open for part of the year because the island of Put-In-Bay basically closes for the winter months. The Island is charming, full of great places to eat. The memorial itself is informative, and the views stunning!
Todd G — Google review
Very cool experience! Well worth the money. Use the free binoculars they offer, you can see so far out with them. I had fun finding and identifying every island I could find.
Jaymes W — Google review
Had a wonderful time! Will return they offer a lot of information about the tower in the visitors center reenactments on the side lawn. My daughter even got engaged that day! 🫶🏼
Kristi N — Google review
Wonderful visitor center(opens 10am, closes 5pm) with lots of information about the war of 1812 and how the monument was built. This is a seasonal National Monument so opens early May and closes end of September. Buy your tickets to go to the top of the monument at the visitor center. Numerous types of park passes can be purchased here too. 2026 and 2027 the monument will be closed for renovation but enjoy the grounds and visitor center will still be open!

Very cool place. Cute kids area. Live animals. Love the snake!! Nice outdoor walking area. For you non Muggles there is a Geocache here.

The Family price is a great deal! We fed the turtles and the fish. Watching the birds on the back patio is nice. Very enjoyable!
Betty M — Google review
Interesting wildlife displays. The girls working at the center were eager to share their knowledge about the wildlife and the island (Put-in-Bay). The center is not very big so our visit didn't last long. There is a short walking path through a wooded area and a small pond out back.
Gina S — Google review
This place was so fun! They had a turtle pond in doors and a live beehive we could watch the bees come in and out. There was a little hiking trail around the back, and alot of really cool taxidermy pieces!
Amber A — Google review
New and neat, with great replica animals and little live turtles. It didn't take long to go round, but it certainly felt worth the visit. ($4 for an adult, $10 for a family)
James S — Google review
Small business, but contains a lot of interesting mounted animals. It costs $5 for an adult or $12 for a whole family.

This place was awesome lots of animals to see. Dill pickle the toad was adorable. Price for a family here is 12.00 which was totally worth it.

Put-in-Bay Winery is a charming and laid-back winery and tasting room that offers outdoor seating and tours of the estate house and grounds. Located on the historic Dollar Estate on Bay View Avenue, this winery opened in 2009 with a mission to educate customers about the wine-making process. Visitors can learn about grape cultivation from seed to bottle through a winery exhibit. The atmosphere is praised for being close to downtown yet tranquil, with friendly staff offering helpful wine selections.
My group and I loved the tour/tastings! Alejandro was the best! He definitely made the tour fun! Also, it was really cool to learn a little about the history of the winery and the island. They mostly gave out sweet wines which is perfect for me because that’s the kind of wine I prefer. Surprisingly, I also liked the few dry wines they offered as well. Highly recommend!!
Jordyn C — Google review
Way Overpriced – Buyers Beware I purchased a bottle of Caymus Vineyards 50th Anniversary Edition Cabernet Sauvignon (2022) from this store on Sunday, May 25, 2025. They charged me $145 plus tax. To my shock, the exact same bottle is being sold at Sandusky as well as my local Kroger for $79.99. That’s a huge markup—nearly double the price. I’ve attached some photos of the receipt from this store, along with one from Kroger showing the actual price. I’m extremely disappointed. This kind of pricing is not just unfair—it feels like you’re taking advantage of customers who trust your business. This is not how you build loyalty. It’s how you lose it. To anyone considering buying from here: be very cautious and do your price comparisons. No one likes being overcharged.
Dheeraj G — Google review
They now serve breakfast. Delicious!!! Everything was fresh and the chorizo was perfect for me. Just the right amount of spice. My husband has sausage biscuit gravy made with chorizo sausage

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We were helped by Alejandro who is amazing! We set out front sampling wine looking out at the water! Beautiful setting and good wine. The blackberry was my favorite!
Trayla L — Google review
Love this place. Love the wine slushies. Love the view. Chocolate covered strawberries are yummy. Great atmosphere. ♥️
Dana N — Google review
Stopped in on a very hot day. The place is quiet and relaxing. We ordered a few wine slushies and sat in the AC to enjoy them. Bar service was friendly. We did not stay very long, but enjoyed our stop as we explored more of the island.
Steve K — Google review
I would give it zero stars if I could. Arrived at the winery on September 29,2025th and told the gentleman we wanted four flights to taste. He poured us the four glasses set them down in front of us and walked away and never told us which one was which so I didn't know what I was drinking. One of them was very good, it looked like a white wine but tasted a little like chocolate which was one of the ones I asked for. So I asked for a bottle of chocolate to buy. When I got home I saw that it was a bottle of chocolate wine nothing like the one I tasted at the winery. He was very unfriendly and acted like he couldn't be bothered with us. I will never go back there again

Located behind the Put-in-Bay Town Hall, this museum offers educational exhibits and displays that showcase the rich heritage of the Lake Erie Islands. Visitors can explore artifacts dating back to the Native American era and learn about significant events such as the first airplane ride on Ford Trimotor.
Super cute little museum with tons of interesting information! It was $5 for an adult which I thought was very fair. It’s worth checking out for the price. The little film they put on is super boring but it’s also quite old, which is actually pretty cool!

This little museum is a gem! Only $7 for adult ticket. Starts off with a 15 minute video of the history of the Island. Then so many displays of times from the past, that if you are with someone that isn't in to history then do it when you are with others that love it. Really good artifacts and stories. 2 hours easy.

A very relaxing spot and enjoyed the downtown view of the Put-in-Bay Island, one of its sides, lake is visible on the other sides lots of shops and nice restaurants. Park has lot many swings, statutes, paved trails, beautiful flowers and park benches. Kids Play area and washrooms were very clean. Overall it was well maintained.

Really enjoyed driving around in that golf cart around the little island. Its was tons of fun, had great places to eat, the locals were friendly and it just had a great atmosphere. We were told by the locals that at night its a different story, especially during the weekends l. According to them the younger population can get heavily drunk, loud, belligerent and a bit of a nightmare if driving intoxicated in those golf carts. I wasn't there to witness the night weekend life, but the gentleman that spoke to us was a native of the area.

The Butterfly House at Perrys Cave Family Fun Center in Put-in-Bay is a must-visit attraction for nature lovers of all ages. Spanning 4,000 square feet, this aviary is home to hundreds of butterflies from Costa Rica and Malaysia. The tropical environment within the house provides a serene setting for visitors to walk among the colorful butterflies as they flutter around. While exploring, guests can also enjoy the beautiful flowers and water features that further enhance the experience.
I've been coming here for the past 5 years every time I visit the island. I love the variety of the butterflies and the whole vibe of this place. They also have a beautiful gift shop.
Lauren — Google review
The butterfly house isn't a tourist trap like most things on the island it delivers exactly what it promises a house full of butterflies. Literally, thousands of them are genuinely beautiful. It is worth the price of admission, and you can stay as long as you like. Their main rule is just do not touch the butterflies.
Zach B — Google review
It was a amazing experience. Would highly recommend it. But please don't go if you are afraid of them landing on you. The more fruity you smell the more they will land on you! It is very warm but worth ever second! It's only 13 dollars to get in and you get a butterfly stamp on you hand. You have to go thru the gift shop to get into the butterfly House.
Shelly N — Google review
My husband and I had a great time here! Definitely a highlight of our stay here. The butterflies were amazing, there are so many of them and they are very active. The employees are all very friendly, and an overall great atmosphere.
Alexia B — Google review
My daughter loved it. It is very hot so we would go on for a little and then come out and do another activity and then return. I do wish that they let toy have them land in your finger. One landed in my sons hat and he thought he was pretty cool. You can get pretty close to them without touching them.
Lynette W — Google review
I loved this place so much. There was a variety of butterflies and they would actually land on you when you are walking through. They have a lot of large species about the size of an adult hand. Watch out for the gift shop- its one of the best on the island
Leah — Google review
Not Worth the Price – Disappointing Experience I really don’t know what to make of this place. We paid $55 for our family (4 adults and one child — ages 17, 15, and 11), and for what it was, that price felt steep. The entire experience lasted less than 10 minutes. Honestly, it felt more like we stepped into a sauna than a butterfly exhibit. The greenhouse was extremely hot and humid — the windows were dripping with condensation — and the air was so thick it was uncomfortable. To make matters worse, I only saw one butterfly actually flying. The rest, maybe half a dozen in total, were sitting up high on the metal frames against the glass, like they were trying to escape the heat themselves. I had expected a room filled with butterflies fluttering around, landing on flowers, maybe even on people — but that wasn’t the case at all. Even my kids were disappointed. They managed a smile, but they were sweating and aggravated. They had pictured a magical experience, not something that felt like a hot, stuffy greenhouse with barely any butterflies in sight. In my opinion, it just wasn’t worth it. I honestly see more butterflies on our own property trails than we did here. I considered asking for a refund or at least sharing my concerns with the front desk, but ultimately decided to just let it go. To be fair, the gift shop was nice and the space itself has potential, but the butterfly exhibit was not impressive or memorable. It felt more like a commercial tourist trap — all hype, little substance. I’m not trying to be mean, just honest: if you’re hoping for a magical butterfly experience, this probably isn’t it. I noticed the similar patterns. Everything is $55 . The putt putt next door is $55 which is was fine and for the time value. The cave thing is also $55 , which I rather done that, but other people was tell us they wasn’t impress , it small and it was ehh.. I know exactly what they mean.

The price is $12 per adult. It's a one time thing and you can do it for the kids. Not sure if adults will enjoy.

We had a wonderful experience. I want to give this a 5 * rating. The people there are really awesome. It was our first time , but they helped us with everything to experience a smooth sailing.

Had a great time jet skiing with my 4 friends! Captain Bob was so nice and helpful at getting us ready and the guys at the water were very friendly and helpful at helping us in and out of the water! Definitely a highlight of our trip and my friends birthday! Would highly recommend :)

Never been on a mammoth board before! It was awesome! There is a weight restriction on kayaks which I understand, but I was pretty upset when I couldn't rent one. But to be able to go on the mammoth board instead?? Made everything so much better. Plus you can stay with your friends and work together. The staff were also so nice and didn't make me feel weird. I would definitely do this again!

Highly recommend this place: MY FIRST TIME JETSKI EXPERIENCE. Had a great experience on Jet Ski. Very friendly staff, thorough knowledge was provided. Before Jetski proper instructions were provided. Would highly recommend to have ski or speed boat here.

Didnt rent anything ha. This just popped up on my Google maps so it's my overall for put-in bay. Loved. It. Pretty hot and sunny but, I got a great tan and we enjoyed it. Ate some food, went to the dock, got my souvenir. Come on out. I'll be back here the next chance I get!
Jacob S — Google review
Rented a tandem jet ski for an hour and cost around $140 total. Beautiful area to jet ski with helpful staff. Recommend going before noon so you can hop right on.
Doug K — Google review
We rented a kayak for an hour. The staff is helpful, assisting in getting in and out of the kayak. Nice, relaxing time on the lake. Life jackets are included.
Tore K — Google review
I'll give it five stars because everything went smoothly and staff was very friendly & helpful -boats & Life jackets are in good shape. Only drawback I saw was nobody picked up litter or dead fish as you entered and exited water. I understand that they didn't put it there but they are running a business and picking up litter should come along with keeping area safe& clean.

The Boathouse Bar and Grill is a vintage venue with a nautical theme that offers burgers and other bites, along with live music and late hours. It's one of the popular spots for bars and live music at Put-in-Bay, providing fine dining, friendly service, and late-night entertainment. The establishment consists of four venues in the same area, offering options for indoor and patio dining with great views of downtown Put-in-Bay and Diriviera Park.
My first trip to Put-in-Bay so we decided The Boathouse would be our first meal on the island. I ordered the Colossal Brunch Burger, a masterpiece consisting of a thick, juicy burger topped with smoked bacon, a fried egg, hash browns, and cheddar cheese on a waffle bun. Add the maple syrup (something I am not a big fan of) and it is even better. This burger is definitely among my top five favorites. Our waiter was wonderful. He had a smile every time he came to the table. He made our visit even more enjoyable. If you plan on visiting the island, be sure to make time to enjoy a meal at The Boathouse Bar and Grill.

Picked this place because it was close to the NPS site and it had chicken tenders for my son. Food was pretty good. I really enjoyed the pretzel app- it came with this interesting, yet flavorful cheese spread. For entree I ate the rice bowl with veggies and Thai peanut sauce- I requested sauce on the side concerned it would be too spicy, which it was a bit spicy but not too bad, I was able to use about half the sauce. There were a good amount and variety of veggies in the dish. Husband ate the fried fish sandwich and said it was delicious. Fries were also tasty. My son ate every bite of the chicken and was thrilled. Indoor and outdoor seating available- we sat inside since it was raining.

What a nice spot. Had a nice seat outside. Great view. Went with the chips for an appetizer and walleye, fries and German potato salad for lunch. Service was quick and our server was very nice.

Got the colossal brunch burger and it was—as the name tells you—colossal. It was also delicious. The cocktails were wonderful as well, I’d recommend the Pool Party, the Frozen Orange Creamsicle, and the Blackberry Lemonade
Hannah L — Google review
The service was great and the bar wa cool. I want overly impressed with the food or the menu.

Dining here as I type this: I got the Chef’s weekly special (Parmesan crusted walleye) and it is out of this world delicious and so fresh. The fish was is crunchy, crispy and juicy. My girlfriends are both stealing bites going on about how good it is. Post dining: Our server, Moose P was the best server we’ve had on the island. He is attentive, patient, and knowledgeable. Tip that man well, he is a hard worker with the memory of an elephant. I only took one star because of how loud it gets around 9:30pm. Other than that, it’s lovely sitting outside.

May 31, 2025 – We made our grand return to The Boathouse—first visit of the year and hands down the most unforgettable one yet. Why? Two words: Server Mike. The guy was a legend. He had us laughing from start to finish, tossed out spot-on food recommendations like a seasoned pro, and somehow kept a straight face through the antics of the BV and Rumpleminz crew (no easy feat). We’re convinced he deserves hazard pay. We’re officially starting a petition to make Mike our designated server for every future visit—see you in July, buddy. Brace yourself.
Jeffery N — Google review
The Boathouse – Not Worth the Money or the Wait We stopped by The Boathouse hoping for a solid meal and a relaxing experience, but it honestly didn’t live up to the hype. The place wasn’t busy at all, so I expected quicker service and a little more attention—but both the food and service fell short. Let’s start with the food. I ordered what was supposed to be a fresh jalapeño burger, but what I got was a small, likely frozen patty—not fresh Angus beef—and just three mushy, pickled jalapeños under the cheese. It was definitely not the fresh jalapeño burger I expected. It took over 45 minutes for our food to come out, and it only took about 6 minutes to finish eating. For nearly $100 (for just four meals and drinks), the quality was nowhere near worth it. The service left much to be desired. I tried getting our waitress’s attention at least five times—she clearly heard me but ignored me. I had to ask a different staff member just to bring hand wipes, and even then, it took another five minutes and more waving before they arrived. My son got the spicy chicken sandwich and said it started out okay but turned bland halfway through. Another person in our group got a simple cheeseburger—just average—and someone else had a patty melt on sourdough with sweet potato fries, which also didn’t impress. We ordered two sodas, and three of us asked for ice water. What we got was tap water in a glass jar with plastic cups—no ice—while another table was served ice water in a proper pitcher with iced glasses. That inconsistency just added to the disappointment. If I’m paying premium prices, I expect at least ice water. To be honest, I would’ve had a better, more satisfying meal grabbing a $5 burger from Arby’s or Wendy’s off the island. I’ve had a better burger at Goat Soup & Whiskey than I did here. They also tack on a 3% credit card fee, which I’m fine with—but what bothered me more was the receipt printing out suggested tip amounts. I personally feel tipping should be based on service, not pressure. We still left a $5 tip, which felt fair given the experience. If the service had been great, I’d have tipped more—but that wasn’t the case here. For restaurant owners: printing tip suggestions on receipts can come off as pushy. Tips should reflect the experience, not a guilt trip. There’s no hard rule about tipping percentages—it’s a choice, not an obligation. Lastly, the surroundings of the restaurant could use some cleanup. I noticed a broken screen door and a mediocre patio seating area. The weather was nice, but that’s about the only thing I can say positively. Bottom line: The Boathouse was overpriced, underwhelming, and not worth the wait. I don’t plan on returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to others.

Reel Bar, located in Put-in-Bay, Ohio, is an eco-chic hub with a fishing theme that offers American staples for lunch and dinner along with live music. Established in 2014 by Andy Christiansen and local musician Ray Fogg, it quickly became a favorite bar on the island. The bar is known for its extensive bourbon collection and intimate stage that provides amazing ambiance.
An island feel with amazing food. I love seafood and hubby does not. This place had something on the menu for both of us. Amazing menu. Great bar are. Open Island feel and not that dark atmosphere that some of the places have. Highly recommend this place to stop for lunch or dinner while on ypur island adventure

Food was amazing! Did not get any pictures of my fiancés food. I got the pork belly tacos that were pretty spicy but so delicious. It was 8.99 per taco, so kind of on the higher price range. But I always like the opportunity to try different food combinations. My fiancé got the bourbon burger and fries which he let me try and were both amazing. Service was great and got a table out on the deck and was able to see the car parade.

We just stopped by on a restaurant hop, but Madison wasn't phased by our short stay. She was friendly, fast, and fun! The Red Shrimp was absolutely fantastic! Get the 10 lb version. Eat it all, then ask for a single, thin mint. I'm sure the rest of the food was wonderful, but the shrimp, the service, and the atmosphere was great!!
Ron G — Google review
Great atmosphere with an awesome live music that kept the energy up all night. The shrimp was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Service was quick and friendly—our servers made sure drinks stayed full and everything came out on time. A fun spot for music, food, and good company.

Got good reviews from a friend so we stopped to check it out for ourselves. Atmosphere was great and the staff was friendly, loved the open air feel. First, start with one of theif fantastic and creative drinks. Possible the best drink menu on the island. Our food was great; Dishes were served hot and seasoned just right. Only wish we had time to visit for breakfast! Next time.

Food was awesome. We had the sweet bourbon burger, added tomatoe lettuce onion and pickle on it. and lobster rolls. The fries were really good as well. Atmosphere was mellow and the waitresses were friendly.

Great Perch Tacos, service was very attentive (we sat outside). Live music was what we expected for 3pm, loud and cheesy. I will be back for the Street Tacos!
Eugene C — Google review
Owner keeps deleting my reviews on google and so I am leaving a review here. I visited The Reel Bar on the island and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The environment felt chaotic and tense, with staff frequently yelling and bickering with each other. It made the atmosphere uncomfortable for guests. Tacos were $8 each, and drinks were overpriced for the quality. Service was poor and disorganized. My server, Madison (possibly a supervisor), was particularly aggressive in how she spoke to other staff members, which was uncomfortable to witness. The entire experience felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. The team seems to need better training, both in customer service and internal communication. I wouldn't recommend this place based on my visit.

Crystal Cave is a geological wonder located 40 feet below ground at a winery, making it the largest geode cave of its kind in the world. It boasts the single largest geode in the world and is filled with pale blue crystals ranging from 8 to 18 inches long. Visitors can embark on a tour guided by knowledgeable staff to witness this massive celestite geode and learn about its interesting history.
Super cool experience especially for the price. Went to Put In Bay for the first time over this past week and was not disappointed. This crystal cave is a must see and is breathtaking in person. The tour guide was super fun and was very knowledgeable about the history of the cave. If you’re in the area I recommend checking it out - you might even get “cave kiss”! Also the winery is very neat and you get a grape juice or wine sample included in the crystal cave tour price.
Samantha F — Google review
Not a huge cave by any means. It does a circle around the stairwell you come down from. But the beautiful celestite formations are so magnificent, I was in awe the whole time. You also get a tour of the winery and a free cup of a wine of your choice or grape juice that are made there. Very awesome experience for a very good price! Def worth a visit if you are on the island.
Ilyanna B — Google review
This was one of the best places on the island and everything was very good price. The tour of the cave, winery and glass of wine at the end was only $14. The cave was very small but so cool. The winery tour was very good and very informative. The wines we tried were amazing. Definitely make this one of your stops while visiting put in bay.
Jeremiah K — Google review
We enjoyed the tour. The cave was much smaller than expected but with the added on winery tour, it was worth the price, which wasn't expensive. We enjoyed both tour guides.
Christy M — Google review
Very nice attraction. If you have issues with Steps, I would not suggest this activity.. There are over 100 steps to get to the cave. Going down is fine, coming up, you may need oxygen..lol

The Benson Ford Shiphouse is a unique private residence located on an island, overlooking the water. It is constructed from the superstructure and deck of a salvaged ship, showcasing the endurance of Great Lakes freighters. Unlike their saltwater counterparts, lake freighters are known for their slow rusting and ability to withstand natural elements, making them long-lasting. The house itself is a marvel to behold, with original woodworking from the freighter still intact.
Very cool! Used to belong to the Ford fleet, named after Henry Ford’s grandson. Now, it’s a really cool house!

I love this place, but wish a better view could be accommodated. Remember to bring a padlock to make your own memory on the gate!
A T — Google review
The house itself is wonderful and pretty awesome that it's there to begin with. We didn't get to go into the house because it was closed for viewing. We wanted to just go up and look around but the driveway is down a private drive and we chose to respect the residents' wishes. From a park near the house (about 2 doors down) you can see it and when you ride the ferry over you're able to see it as well. It's definitely a wonder how they got it to where it was and it is beautiful and very unique. Check it out if you get the chance.
Amber T — Google review
Cool tour and I am glad I got to go, but one and done for me. Be prepared for them to push their vodka on you.
Frank F — Google review
It is surrounded by private property. We couldn’t figure out how to get close to it. It looks like you’d have to be on a boat. Or if the park was open, you might be able to get a little bit of a view
Dean G — Google review
This was an amazing tour. We had purchased tickets in advance with recommend times to keep crowding down. There is an amazing amount of work that has been done to make this freighter a home. This is not handicap accessible. Stairways are steep and narrow, caution is advised. Much of the woodworking original to this freighter remains. You have to see it to believe it.
Christina Y — Google review
There is construction going on around it right now so we couldn't get to the fence or to see the house very good. It was still nice to see the fence and a slight glimpse of it. Spent only a few mins here.

Explore Put-in-Bay Island like a local by renting a cart from the Put-in-Bay Golf Cart Depot. Whether you're visiting historical sites like Perrys Victory and International Peace Memorial or enjoying the natural beauty of parks and trails, getting around is essential. While some find it a bit challenging to locate, others consider it a hidden gem with friendly staff who provide valuable island tips.
This is a great place to rent a golf cart for a weekend at Put N Bay. I couldn't make my reservation online due to my computer issues, so I called and the lady sent my receipt to my email address. When I arrived at Put N Bay I had no problems and no problems returning the cart. Awesome place, friendly staff. Thank you!

Put In Bay Golf Cart Depot was a great experience. The reservation and check-in process was easy. They are easy to find, although you will need a taxi/bus from the Miller Ferry Lime Kiln Dock, or it will be an hour long hike. The staff was great, the cart performed perfectly for our family, and it was reasonably priced.
Mitchell M — Google review
Renting from Put-in-Bay Golf Cart Depot made our trip so much easier and more fun. The staff was friendly, quick, and efficient—we were checked in and on the road in just a few minutes. The cart we rented was clean, well-maintained, and ran smoothly the entire time. Getting around the island with a golf cart is definitely the best way to explore, and having one from this rental company made everything stress-free. The prices were fair compared to other spots on the island, and the whole process felt really organized. I’d absolutely rent from Put-in-Bay Golf Cart Depot again and recommend them to anyone visiting the island.
Arlinda — Google review
Got a text message at 655pm saying the cart was due back at 7pm. Didn't see the text until 703pm at which point I noticed the owner driving the cart away with all of our property on it. Had no idea cart was due back at 7 as we were having dinner just 2 doors away. This place is waaay away from the ferry and I wouldn't recommend them. There are way too many FRIENDLY and cheaper options on the island. I'll never use these folks again. And the young lady working the window...speak to people, quit mumbling. So,as we hailed a taxi to get all of our stuff to the ferry all the way at the docks, who do you think we saw bellied up at the bar by 715...the golf cart depot guy LOL. He had to repo all the outstanding carts so he could continue to get wasted.
K H — Google review
I went to check each different cart location options, but I definitely didn’t use their service after the foreign lady laughed at me when I couldn’t understand her. The only thing she seemed to grasp was a one-liner: $100. I asked her to clarify a bit more because I was trying to figure out how much it would cost per hour versus for the entire day, and I also inquired about the return time. I wanted to know if there was a possibility to return it the next day so I could keep it overnight. She just kept throwing out prices, and I ended up repeating what she said, hoping for some clarity. She was really disingenuous, speaking another language to the other girl, then looking at me and smiling as if it were all a joke. Because of this experience, I decided to walk away, especially since someone at my hotel had likely canceled their reservation. In the end, I managed to get the assistance I wanted from a different place for only $57 from 9 in the morning to 9 at night. This location was outrageous with their $130 price tag; they’re completely out of their minds! I really don’t understand these foreign workers at these spots—communication is a real issue, and it felt like I was in a different country for a minute. I’m actually glad I didn’t do business with them. They were trying to rip us off at three times the price, but here I am, coming out ahead by taking my business elsewhere.
Rye W — Google review
Very Disappointed ! Rented a cart on line for two days , had not even had it a full day to wake up to the cart being missing from the hotel . Was stressing out thinking it was stolen " because that happens a lot at put in bay ". Called the depot and they said they came and got it at 7pm that evening . We explained and showed the contract that was done on line .the owner had us under the wrong name and then began yelling about him loosing over 200.00 for a glitch in the website I guess . He said we should have never hit the cart for 100.00 for 2 days . We explained that it isn't our fault . He continued to yell about the money loss and treated us as if we ripped him off. They had all kinds of paperwork messed up and was messed all up Again the 2nd time we turned it in . Terrible customer service !!!!!! Never again ! We deserved an apology ....

Great experience at Golf Cart Depot in Put-in-Bay! The carts were easy to drive, in great condition, and the prices were very reasonable. The staff was super friendly, the location is perfect, and the whole process was quick and simple. Definitely recommend them if you need a cart on the island!

We spend around 30 days a year on average on PIB and have gone through a lot of trial and error with various companies. After years of jumping around cart companies we finally found the Golf Cart Depot a few years back and boy are we glad. It has not only saved us a bunch of money but their carts are well taken care of, cleaned after each use, and tend to be much faster than others found on the island. Just a reminder when reading reviews. Often times people go over board with the parting and struggle to be an adult which includes getting the carts back on times at 7pm or 11am the next morning.

The Put-in-Bay Tour Train offers a one-hour narrated tour of the island, highlighting places of interest and historical significance such as Heineman Winery & Crystal Cave, Perrys Victory & International Peace Memorial, and Lake Erie Island Nature & Wildlife Center. Visitors can purchase a package at the ferry that includes ferry tickets, train rides, and admissions to five different attractions on the island.
I highly recommend taking this tour to get familiar with South Bass Island and all it has to offer. Despite a bit of rain at the start, we were still able to enjoy the ride and learn so many fun facts from our guide, Chip. It was especially interesting to hear from a local what it's like to live on the island, particularly during the winter. The ride itself is a fun way to get around, and it's definitely a safer option if you plan on visiting any of the two local Wineries. Overall, it's clear the guides are passionate locals who love and care about their island.

A beautiful tour and orientation to PIB with info about the adjacent islands. Informative about the history of the entire area. Our tour guide was very personable and his knowledge and love of the area was evident. (Our tour was on Wednesday, July 23, 2035, at 3:15pm, in case that helps give credit) FYI to anyone with back problems: the seats are well-padded, but the backs are not. A towel or small pillow helps. Thank you for the enjoyable tour!

Put-in-Bay Ohio Island is a popular destination offering a variety of attractions and activities for visitors. From exploring an Ohio State Park to touring historical museums and enjoying the views from Perrys Victory and International Peace Memorial, there's something for everyone. Many people have fond memories of their trips to the island, whether it's relaxing at the swim-up bar, cruising around in golf carts, or enjoying live music at the bars.
It's really a great place to get away to. If you take the Jet Express ferry and plan to stay in the main area, there is no need for a golf cart. If you take the other ferry or want to explore the rest of the island, then a golf cart is a must! Great food every place we ate and lots of shops to visit. The Peace memorial is pretty interesting for the history buffs.

I started frequenting PIB 5-6 years ago. I’ve since moved to Colorado but try to get back as much as I can. The island is a great get away from reality. The bars book really good artists and bands. The summers are great and the island is still a great time even if bad weather rolls in. Whiskey Light is a must go!

Nice island to visit. Park your car in Catawba island. Miller Ferry website says parking is free, but we paid $10 (probably the place we parked belongs to some private), as the Miller Ferry parking lot seemed to be full. Miller’s Ferry ride was smooth, enjoyable and on time. You can take your vehicle to island but not necessary because of small island. If you are taking Millers Ferry, then take the bus ($3 per person/one way- cash only) from miller ferry’s dock, put-in-bay to reach the Board walk area, Lot of food options here. Golf cart is not a must but fun of course to ride it and to see all the spots. But You can walk around the downtown/board walk area until Scheeff East point reserve, from Perry’s Monument, if you want to complete your daily steps.

Neither my fiancée nor I had ever been. It was a spur-of-the-moment decision to take her, and I'm glad we went. It was beautiful. Golf carts are the way to get around the island. While you can bring your car, it seems like more of a hassle than anything.

A summer is not complete without a trip (or several trips) to Put-in-Bay. The best memories of my 20s and 30s are from long weekends on the island. Whether it is sipping a drink at the swim up bar, or driving a golf cart around seeing the island, I simply love visiting the island. Staff are always friendly, and there is always something fun to do - rain or shine. I missed visiting in 2020, but will make up for it in 2021 and each year after. Saunders Golf Course, established in 1965, provides a scenic 9-hole par three golfing experience with stunning views of Lake Erie. This short course is designed for walking only, as no golf carts are permitted. Reservations are not necessary, and groups are warmly welcomed. While some may critique the tee boxes, loyal fans appreciate the untouched beauty of PIB Country Club. The course features narrow fairways and offers an enjoyable challenge for players of all skill levels.
Cool retro golf experience. 20 bucks for clubs, balls, and greens fees. Great place to spend a couple hours without a drink in your hand.
Brad S — Google review
First, keep in mind it costs $10 to play the 9 holes; that should tell you something. I'll say we enjoyed getting out, walking the 9 and hitting some balls. That being said... this is barely a golf course. There aren't even tee boxes... pretty much dirt areas to "tee off" from. Yardages on the score card are "approximate" at best. Some are wildly off. Fairways were... ok. Greens were awful.... very long grass, rough, bumpy. I would not consider them true greens. There is very little maintenance or upkeep done and its obvious. You could play the whole course with an 8 iron and putter. All that said.... for $10.... why the hell not. Just have appropriate expectations.
Jamie W — Google review
I liked the location on the island and the opportunity to work on my short game. Club selection is fair. Tee boxes need a lot of work, like some grass, some borders and some tee markers. Some clearing of tall tree limbs along fairways is needed. Fun overall.
John S — Google review
One of America's great tracks. The haters will say the tee boxes need help. The loyal fans will say don't touch the PIB Country Club, not even the limbs hanging over the greens. Tightest fairways you'll ever play, guaranteed.
Joe K — Google review
Very cheap course to play. No tee boxes and very slow greens but it is only $10 a round. Good couple hours of fun.

Probably the best course I have ever played. A great test in any conditions.

Amusement park ride
Kimberly's Carousel, a charming piece of history located in downtown Put-in-Bay, invites visitors to experience the joy of a classic ride on one of the few remaining Herschel carousels from 1917. For just $1.50, you can hop on whimsical animals like cows, chickens, and even Pete the Perch—an island favorite! This beautifully crafted carousel features all wooden horses and is accompanied by delightful carnival music that fills the air with nostalgia.
You can buy a pass for the day and could literally ride the thing all day long if you wanted to.
Hilary B — Google review
It was not expensive at all and the pass is for all day rides. The kiddos loved being able to stay on and chose another animal to ride over and over again. We then ended up getting food across the street and continued watching the carousel go around and around. The kids running the carousel were also great. You could tell they actually cared about the kids experience.
Brett B — Google review
Felt like kids again as these two old timers rode the carousel. Went on a recent August Wednesday morning and there was no wait. $6 ticket gives you unlimited rides. A delightful adventure on a piece of history. The carousel is over 100 years old and in amazing condition, complete with festive music from the mechanical band. Fun for all. We highly recommend it.

An absolute treasure on the island. Open since I can remember, it is something everyone loves hearing as they walk near the roads end on that side of downtown PIB. The music playing brings nostalgia to anyone who grew up going to the island regularly. It’s a joy to see it still operational. It’s an all day pass now when you purchase a ticket. Enjoy!

The Boardwalk is a renowned dining establishment on Put-in-Bay Island, operating since 1985. It offers a variety of dining experiences under one roof, including casual options like the Fish Shak and Rita's Cantina, as well as the more upscale Upper Deck. The famous Lobster Bisque is a must-try and is served at several venues within the complex. With waterfront seating and multiple dining choices, it's an ideal spot for families with diverse tastes.
What an absolutely AMAZING date night experience for my wife and I! We don’t treat ourselves often so it’s hard to spend this kind of money on food, however it was worth EVERY penny! For an appetizer she got a salad that looked amazing and I got the peel and eat shrimp, which was also outstanding. For the main course she got the Upper Deck Lobster roll and I got the 1lb crab leg special. This was my wife’s 1st time having lobster and she loved it, the crab cracked and peeled so well and was FULL of meat!
Tyler S — Google review
The food here is amazing. We ate on the upper deck, not at the ground floor, quick service stands. The upper deck lobster roll is by far the best I've had. The lobster was cooked and seasoned really well. The addition of the lobster bisque on top just helps boost that flavor. The red snapper curry, in my opinion, is truly the stand out the curry sauce was beautifully spiced. The fish was well cooked and seasoned. The white rice underneath was also seasoned quite well. The rice on this dish wasn't boring like it is most places. The restaurant is beautiful inside, but you can not beat the view of eating on the patio over looking lake erie. The patio is very well shaded, so it's rather pleasant to sit on. Each table sets right at the edge of the balcony, so every table has a fantastic view. The server we had was super kind and friendly and was very attentive. Parking can be difficult it has a very tiny parking lot and street parking can also be hard to find as well. This is next to the jet express dock, though, so you can walk over from it. If you're on the island, you have to stop by. Also, there is an elevator available to get to the upper deck if you need assistance and can not take the stairs.
Zach B — Google review
Relaxing, light atmosphere. We had perch and lobster bisque which were both very good. Service was to notch! Food was pricey but we received good sized portions! Definitely works recommend! Beautiful view of the Bay and sunset!
Christina M — Google review
We ate at the Upper Deck, and while prices are not exactly budget-friendly, there's a reason for that. The views are beautiful, (especially at sunset!) the food was actually delicious, the portions were generous, and the service was absolutely excellent. Our server Abraham was attentive, helpful, and constantly anticipating our needs before we even asked. Service was fast and friendly. The lobster bisque was full of huge chunks of lobster meat including claws. The shrimp and queso app was a highlight for us, and the Harvest salad was also a winner. The New England style lobster roll was delicious. (FYI you can only get a real lobster roll at the Upper Deck restaurant, not on the first floor cafe area.) Overall we had an excellent experience! Because of its perfect location, this restaurant could choose to be lazy and just coast by with mediocre food and service, but they do not--they clearly have chosen to make this place truly special with service and food to match the amazing views and location. Thanks for a memorable anniversary meal!
Emy — Google review
The Boardwalk was amazing! 🙌 The Bang Bang Shrimp Wrap was stupendous, the chicken tenders were crispy and juicy, and the perch sandwich was super fresh 🐟. Washed it all down with a perfect Tito’s lemonade 🍋🥂. Our waitress was so kind and friendly, which made the experience even better. Everything was absolutely delectable—must-try in Put-In-Bay!
Uniiicorn — Google review
Very nice atmosphere and beautiful view. Was seated right away. We went to taste the lobster bisque that websites were raving about. It was okay. Nothing to write home about. A little pricey. Portions were kind of small and the menu didn't have that much to choose from
BabygirlStac 1 — Google review
Set out by boat from LaSalle Ontario, 4 hours later we were attached to a mooring ball in Put-in-Bay Ohio! The mooring balls were part of the Boardwalk. We were charged $10 more than advertised, but the unlimited water taxi to and from our boat was convenient. We ate dinner at the lower deck restaurant and had the lobster mania meal. We were a little disappointed by the cafeteria style service. Grabbed a table by the water so the atmosphere was great. We punched a sleepless night on the mooring ball as the wind veered around to the NE at 11:00 pm. That is basically straight in the bay and we rocked around all night. There were plenty of balls available in more sheltered locations from NE wind, so we should have kept a better eye on the wind forecast. Overall a very enjoyable trip and we will definitely stop here again.

Abraham, our server, was an absolute rockstar! First time at The Boardwalk - the Upper Deck restaurant and boy, did they nail it! The Mango Crush “the alcoholic beverage” Abraham, recommended was so lip-smackingly tasty, we just had to order a whole pitcher. The food? Simply divine, from the first bite of appetizers to the last forkful of entrees. Put-in-Bay, you've won us over—this is definitely not a one-time fling! 🤗

Very expensive $86 for ferry ride round trip for car and 2 people. Over$90 for jet express. Drinks are $8-$9 for beers can't drive anywhere in vehicle no places to park. Have to rent golf carts at $80-$120 day, then pay to park them. Food is twice anywhere else. They are overpricing there tourism to the point no one will vacation there.

Beautiful island to go on vacation. Very relaxing and there's so many fun things to do for adults as well as kids. You can rent golf carts to travel in the island, right after you get off the ferry.
Keertu A — Google review
South Bass Island is extremely costly and not worth the money. For all the high fees and charges for everything, they should put some presentation effort back into it. They let things get filthy and run down. Displays were broken, and unprofessional. The old coins were taped on to a faded piece of paper and stuck crooked to the wall, for example. While waiting in the room to get the tour to Perry's cave, you could see their own trash and storage shoved in corners and on the floor. The caves are a natural beauty that should be available to everyone, or at least have a minimal fee. The Antique auto museum was awesome and free of charge. We were glad to leave a donation. The Erie Island Carts/"Lessor" was the exception. Their customer service was above and behond, well worth the funds required to rent the golf cart. Their price was extremely cheaper than the first rental facility that is near the entrance.

I like finding quiet spaces and I found one at the clifftop that was just amazing. The town itself is a party time they like music and drinking and having fun. It's a younger crowd I would say and their twenties and thirties. I would definitely not stay at the state park again.

If you like to party this is the place... Lots to do up there. You have to go up there for Halloween it's the best place and a lot of bars but there is this one its called the round house and the bar moves. It's just a fun place for people and the boat ride over to island is very nice. Just a heads up stop drinking for the ride home on boat , just a heads up....😱😱. But if your going up to stay at Halloween make plans way before like months ahead to get a room. A great place and the people up there are so friendly and kind that it makes want stay.... Best Pizza in the town. Bloody Mary Margarita was my bad choice. It tasted like ketchup in water.
FP — Google review
The back patio is very nice and our server was pretty good. But the food took forever and was disappointing. The pizza's tasted like they were made with frozen pizza crust and the boneless wings were pretty much Tyson chicken bites with a little sauce drizzled on top.
Jackie V — Google review
Service and Atmosphere is nice and a good beer selection but the pizza is some of the worse I’ve ever had. Charging $34 for a pizza with a premade frozen pie crust is an abomination. Even my kids were like “dad, this crust is cardboard!” Generous toppings but the pizza crust shouldn’t be made for human consumption. The topping don’t even adhere to the crust. Italians should protest this pizza even exists and make your crust from scratch and get rid of whatever you’re using.
Marianne P — Google review
Frostys and one other location came up as the two best Pizza places to eat while at The Bay, I thought Frostys appeared more appealing with the frosted mugs. We were drawn in by the lure of frosted beer mugs and live music, with an overwhelming smell of Pizza. Honestly, who could resist? Once inside there are two separate sides, connected by open spaces, yet designed in a way which divides them very clearly for dining and drinking. This made easy to go to the side in which catered to your current needs, and for fast service regarding both. We had an incredible amount of drinks, and ordered two pizzas. The drinks were strong, and priced reasonably. The Pizza's, were incredible. Extremely fresh, and hot. Frankly, most of the week, food was a big disappointment - but Frostys delivered on the best Pizza, and my best meal, entirely for our trip. Staff was very friendly and pleasant, efficient, and fun. Definitely stop here, especially at dinner time...

From homemade fudge and hand-dipped chocolates to old-fashioned candies and novelty items, this place has something for everyone. They also serve scooped and soft-serve ice cream in cones, sundaes, and shakes. It's no wonder it's ranked as one of the top confection destinations on Lake Erie.
Great shop, you can find ice coffee, snow cones, ice cream . The staff is great also.

This is a really cool place that everyone loved. I enjoyed it because it had so many different types of candy and chocolate. The only complaint I would have is that it's really overpriced. I understand it's a tourist area, but some of the prices were just out of line, The fudge on the other hand, and the fresh made Chocolate candies and such were priced right and that's what we bought here.
Dj S — Google review
Bunches of candy, staff was trying to do too many things at once and didn't do to well but eventually got order right. Fudge and chocolate was good.

An adorable must-visit! Amazing fudge and chocolates behind the counter, but also a ton of packaged novelty candy, saltwater taffy, cotton candy, drinks, etc. A perfect place to sate your sweet tooth!
Ali B — Google review
I wouldn't recommend going here for their ice cream, it's not good. The Chocolate Museum is now closed unfortunately, so we went here instead. The employees working the ice cream counter were pretty rude, dismissive. I ordered a scoop of chocolate chip cookie dough and I swear there were a total of 5 cookie dough chunks and zero chocolate chip pieces. My scoop of ice cream was essentially flavorless vanilla. I wanted to ask for a refund, but I already asked if they got me cookie dough when I first got my cone - because it just looked like vanilla. They assured me, but again were dismissive and I figured asking for a refund would be a headache. If you do want to get good ice cream in a freshly made waffle cup, I would highly recommend Sweet Siblings - that one was very good.

What a great spot! We were visiting South Bass Island during the Biggest Week in American Birding and stopped into Mr. Ed’s Bar for a bite to eat — and it turned out to be the perfect choice. Hands down, the best pizza we’ve had in a long time! The bartender and staff were incredibly friendly, and the overall vibe was fun and welcoming. We’ve been coming to Mr. Ed’s for years, and it just keeps getting better! Over time, we’ve had the chance to get to know Ed himself—he’s a genuine, down-to-earth guy who clearly cares about everything he’s built here. Our first visit of 2025 was extra special—being recognized by some of the awesome staff we’ve met over the years made it feel like a true welcome back. The energy is always great, especially on weekends when the bands really bring the fun! And the best bonus? Cameo Pizza right on site! You have to try the Hot Honey Pepperoni—sweet, spicy, and absolutely addictive. Mr. Ed’s has become one of our favorite go-to spots. Great people, great music, and great pizza—what more could you want?

Visited this past weekend for the first time. Very friendly staff. General manager Dave was very friendly and offered advice about places to go on the island. He even offered to show us around before we left and give us a ride to the ferry, but we were a little behind and didn’t get to take him up on his offer. Entertainment was excellent. Casper has a very interesting background story and is an outstanding musician. Highly recommend going here.

We went to this place twice on our trip. The same band was playing both nights, which is good because they were fun! The bartenders were attentive. Food is ordered at a window in the back, so no table service. We got some cheese-stuffed bread sticks, which were good but the marinara was somewhat fermented. I paid $1 for a second one and it was fine. We also got the meatballs which were excellent! We'd go back.

The bar was ok but the bartenders weren't real friendly. The margaritas were good but they are known for their Bloody Mary's and I didn't like it at all. The food was subpar. Still probably the best dive bar in town. The location is good because it's away from downtown and unique to the area.

This review is only for the beach, not The nature preserve. This is the nastiest, stinkiest and most hazardous beach I have ever been to in my entire life. My son and I left with cut up feet and we were covered in a green residue. The bottom is nothing but slippery rock(s) and if you're not careful you 100% will break a bone. This beach is disgusting and I will never come back. If there's a better beach in the island and you know about it, please let me know. We left very disappointed.
Shayna K — Google review
A must-see. Wonderful place to sit out and watch the waves. The trail is great, with benches and seating along the way. There is a spot to watch birds as well, which we really enjoyed!
Ali B — Google review
Wear water shoes on the beach—there are plenty of tiny crushed rocks and shells, though there are also some sandy areas. The scenery is beautiful, but be aware of water snakes. When we visited, there were many rotting fish further down the beach.
Esther H — Google review
Nice park to get away from the uptown area. Parking area & trail around the perimeter of the preserve. Small beach area with views of Middle Bass Island and other islands. Also a good place for kids to run around & skip stones.
Daniel H — Google review
Quiet part of the island with a nice trail. The trail has poison ivy so youngsters might need to be carried. Adults can pick their way through if you take your time. Nice slice of original PIB vegetation.
Larry S — Google review
This is not the most nicely maintained trail I've ever been on. It is pretty narrow and could be trimmed back - but it is still a pretty trail with many views of the lake and the ability to get close in a few places.

The Jane Coates Wildflower Trail is a magnificent natural reserve that showcases exceptional beauty. The construction of this park was executed with great skill and attention to detail, resulting in a remarkable outcome. As one of the recently established parks on the island, it stands out as an example of modern design and planning. Visitors have the opportunity to engage in geocaching activities while exploring this captivating wilderness alongside their loved ones.
Very nice little mulched trail. A true hidden gem on the island.
Jessica S — Google review
A pretty place, although I didn’t see a single flower if I’m being honest. However, it’s a calming little area to take a walk through and there are arrows to guide you.
Haley — Google review
The trail is easy enough to follow and to find. It’s just more or less flanked by houses so you never feel like you’re anywhere close to the wilderness.
Thirteendays — Google review
Terrible, tripping over rocks. And Better make sure you have google maps because the trail markers do not take you back to the parking lot.And not a single flower spotted.
Owen M — Google review
Mosquitoes are bad once you get a ways down the trail. Not to much to see here and there are rocks to trip over but they are painted. Defined path to walk on that is mostly covered with mulch.
A. N — Google review
It was a lovely walk, but no flowers
Carrie C — Google review
Having had a cottage at Put in Bay for 50 years, ever since I was a child, rarely does anything there surprize me. I was recently surprized to stumble upon the Jane Coates Wildflower Trail. At first glance, it is nothing more than a path through the weeds, until you see wild flowers and the lake from very different vantage points than the normal car, golf cart or bike ride. It also gives access to Buckeye Point which is a real treat if you don't mind wading through a little bit of water to get there. I recomend this "oasis from shops and bars" while visiting Put in Bay.
Jeff C — Google review
Jane Coates is one of 6 trail loops on the island. Nicely maintained, easy flat trail in the wooded areas. Great during a hot sunny day, it is a nice reprieve.

When visiting Put-in-Bay, one of the most popular ways to get around and explore all the attractions is by using E's Put-in-Bay Golf Carts. These golf carts function like cars and can accommodate 2, 4, 6, or 8 passengers. They are available for rent on an hourly, daily, or overnight basis. Additionally, renting through a package that includes ferry service is an option.
What a great staff, E's was bombarded with Miller Ferry passengers and all they did was smile and perform! Where's Waldo!? I Finally found Waldo and E's. Visiting PiB? Use E's Golf Carts to view the many parts of the island.
Sonny W — Google review
Easy to deal with and a lot of fun!! Prices are good and nice staff. Be CAREFUL where you park it. I received a $50 fine for parking in the wrong space.
Chandra B — Google review
Great price and the cart was perfect. Got us around for 4 hours no issue. Was under 50$ for the 4 hours and the easiest process to rent. Love the fact they accept cash still!!! Will be back
Slade M — Google review
Highly recommend this cart place. We rented from them because the hourly rate was only $12. We had no idea what put in bay would be like but absolutely loved visiting and loved renting the golf cart. This is the only way to go in my opinion. Was able to get around the entire island with no issues. Will hopefully be returning in the future.
Daniel H — Google review
Close to the Miller Ferry, great price, and easy to work with. We had to have our first cart swapped because the parking brake wouldn't engage (overall that cart was a little rough around the edges). However, all it took was a quick phone call and they even drove out a replacement cart to Perry Caves while we were inside. Super easy and great customer service. The replacement cart was great! I'll definitely rent from E's again next time I'm on PIB.
Timothy G — Google review
SO professional. FRIENDLY. all paperwork was completely ready upon arrival. Cart was ready and ptocess signing out and returning was super smooth. I did online so there wasn't an hourly option available but they refunded some back when I returned cart early. 10000% I will use them again! The place right at the top of the hill was rude and I'm glad I didn't rent from them
Kristine K — Google review
Amazing customer service! They are sooo much better then Perry's, and were able to accommodate our 29 person group literally so quickly and the prices were much more affordable! We got 7 carts and they took care of us very quickly! Highly recommend them!
Sharad G — Google review
If you take Miller's Ferry it's very convenient! The employees are nice and the cart was clean. They should have an express lane for customers who completed the lengthy paperwork online when making the reservation. That's the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars.

The Put-in-Bay Sign is the newest attraction for the 2022 summer season, inspired by similar signs in large cities like Cleveland, Ohio. Visitors can enjoy a day tour on the island, taking a ferry from Sandusky and staying at downtown hotels. Activities include swimming, sunbathing, shopping, tours to landmarks like Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial and Heineman Winery. The island offers a charming and cheerful atmosphere with good restaurants ideal for adults and children alike.
Beautiful place to take pictures and enjoy views. There's a little sign infront of the PIB sign that holds your phone while you use a self timer, that was neat!
Erica S — Google review
This is a nice place to.gp to injoy family time and a little adult time. During the day, we went to the condo pool, the "beach" and the island attractions via golf cart. The pace was laid back, with everyone we met fun friendly! We did just a few nights out for dinner.. the Last Resort for pizza and drinks around a repurposed classic fire truck was our favorite for the vibes. I recommend this island if you want to disconnect for a little bit and just enjoy family time.
Jennifer S — Google review
We Love Put-In-Bay! So much to do, see, eat & drink on this beautiful island! We always have a great time here with friends, family or just a couple's getaway. The beaches are nice, the shops, restaurants and bars are fun to explore. We love (and recommend) renting golf carts and cruising around every part of the island, discovering new things every time we visit. Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial, the winery and the underground coverns are pretty cool stops. (Tip:don't be a dummy and drive intoxicated. Laws are heavily enforced, as they should be. I've seen others make bad choices and it's not pretty.) The peel n eat shrimp at the Reel Bar is phenomenal! Love the specialty drinks and tropical vibes at Mojito Bay and the live music and entertaining atmosphere at the Beer Barrel Saloon, Great outdoor patio and it's the home of the world's longest bar. The staff at all of the above and anyone I've been in contact with do a great job of welcoming guests and making sure they are having a good time and having fun. Looking forward to my next visit!

Located on the East point of South Bass Island, Massie Cliffside Preserve is an 11-acre shoreline parcel offering a serene natural escape. Visitors can take a leisurely hike along the nature trails, which lead to park benches near the cliffs providing stunning views of Lake Erie. The preserve features flat terrain and is suitable for families with children. While some maintenance may be needed, it offers a beautiful walk in the woods and opportunities for relaxation by the lake.
Easy trail walk from the road to the cliff side. There is a nice clearing and benches to sit and look at the lake.
Nicole D — Google review
Nice walk in the woods. There's parking where the trail starts or you can drive down the road next to it to have quicker access. There are several benches in the area. (Was eating ice cream & forgot to take more pics) For non Muggles there is a Geocache here.
Cas H — Google review
Like most preserves on the island, it’s nestled in housing. The end of the trail at the cliffside is a great place to relax with a gorgeous view of the lake.
Thirteendays — Google review
This is about a third of a mile hike to a decent sized green space with benches and decent lake views. There is also a small pier with a small rough gravel beach where you can see the cliffs. Be warned these cliffs are not really impressive maybe 20 get high or so. It's worth seeing once but I likley wouldn't go back.
Josh — Google review
Very interesting preservation of an old lighthouse, this is not a working historical piece. As other reviewers have mentioned, this site provides a great view out over the South point of the island onto Lake Erie.
Daniel S — Google review
This is a beautiful little preserve, but it could use a bit more upkeep. There's about a quarter mile trail leading to a grassy grove with benches facing out to the lake. On the left side of the grove, there's a metal staircase that takes you to a concrete dock on beautiful blue-green water. Be careful walking out there as some of the steel grates have worn out (see picture).
Jeffrey S — Google review
Nice gravel Beach. A couple picnic benches. No tables anywhere. Nice walk from the parking lot.
Garrett R — Google review
We arrived close to 7 p.m., and it was still hot—we were sweating from the bike ride. As soon as we stopped and approached the dense woods, we were swarmed by mosquitoes and had to make a quick exit. There’s also a sign warning about poison ivy. I’d recommend going early in the morning when it’s cooler.

While parking may be limited, there's a dog park located at the end of the runway for added convenience.
$100 for 5 people to fly for "5 minutes" . It was actually about 15 take off to landing. WELL worth the $20 per person. 6 seater planes. A great experience for all. Staff super friendly and very accommodating.

Several welcoming volunteers invited us to check out the Ford Tri-Motor Airplane. This is an awesome piece of aviation history. If we could afford it, we would have taken a ride. The airport was busy with smaller helicopters and airplanes frequently taking off and landing on a Friday afternoon. Limited parking and shade nearby. There is a dog park located at the end of the runway.

Dodge Woods Nature Preserve Dodge Woods was another great stop during our birding adventure for the Biggest Week in American Birding. We had a golf cart for the day and visited several preserves in the area — and this one was definitely a worthwhile addition. It’s a small but peaceful spot, with easy trails and a nice mix of trees that made it a great place to catch warblers and other migrating birds. It’s quiet, accessible, and perfect for a short hike or birding break between larger stops. If you're in the area and doing the birding circuit, Dodge Woods is a hidden gem worth checking out!

Most excellent experience for my 11 year old granddaughter and her dad! The operators took the time to explain what would take place, they put her at ease. They were very safety conscious and they made it fun! She screamed the first 5 seconds and then laughed and had a great time. She said it was the best activity on the Put-in-bay trip. I enjoyed the boat ride and watching them soar 💜
