Nicole was our server and did a fantastic job. Was very attentive and was knowledgeable on the menu and all of the items we had. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely. They have a ton of TVs so it is a great place to watch any event. I would highly recommend Union to anyone in the area.

I come here for the wonderful open air beach vibe, as well as the great food and cocktails. I'd say you're missing out if you don't try the skillet cornbread appetizer, and the flatbreads here. The staff is great here - professional, chill, and very friendly. They love to have well behaved dogs on their patio, and even have a dog menu! Say hello to Isaac at the bar if you recognize him from my photo for this review. They make a great Old Fashioned here by the way...

View was lovely outside watching all the neat cars driving by. Kids meals were great. Gumbo, and the Shrimp & Grits were out of control good.

Delicious and they have amazing vegan options. The service was phenomenal and the food was great 😌 a little pricey but worth! I would pass on the fries and go salad here for the side TBH! not even for health reasons just because the fries were so so.

I loved the band! I bought the watermelon mocktail and service was with a smile. I was in a rush forgot my card and the manager had it safe in the back super grateful. Thank you for an excellent experience.

Their Brisket Fries are soo good! It was better than I expected, I ate the whole thing and there was very little fat at all on the meat. It was super tasty and just the right amount of food. I came here with two friends, one was visiting from Oregon so we got drinks as well, all of which were great. We had Poke Nachos, BBQ Chicken Flatbread with Margaritas, Beers, Old Fashioned and a shot at the end. Even though it was busy on a Sunday our waiter was really on top of checking in on us.

The UNION BURGER is delicious! The bacon you can add is outstanding and the Brioche Bun is so good. It is the kind you crave and 'need' to go back for. The Nashville Fried Chicken Sandwich is outstanding too. The regular fries and the sweet potato fries are awesome. I tried the Truffle Fries. Those were not good enough that I would get them again or recommend them. Especially when the others are so amazing. I see a lot of things on the menu I am gonna need to try, like Loaded Short Rib Fries. But that burger will probably win in the end. It's one of my all-time favorites.

I got the Roasted Salmon and it was actually really good, cooked just right with great flavor. The band music was pretty loud so it was hard to talk at times. Service was pretty slow, but the friendly waiter and solid food made up for it. Overall not bad, just be ready for a louder vibe.

Killer venue. Staff made more mistakes (plural) with orders than reasonably acceptable. Food was good, I had the burger. The live music was fire! I stayed for two musicians. Locals are very attractive 😉 and lively. Good luck keeping up! Great time. Killer live music. Good souls all around. Highly recommended.

Awful over priced drinks. The worst old fashioned my wife has ever been served (by a long shot) and two very poor espresso martinis costing a total of $60... Will never return. Stay away if you appreciate a decent cocktail...

Lively and upscale bar atmosphere. There was a terrific band at noon on Sunday that was playing super chill music. We got the Cobb salad and a few mocktails. The salad was delicious.

The staff is awesome and very attentive. Dennis was “hanging out with us” and was awesome. We had the breakfast sandwich and a couple beers. The sandwich was great, but the potato’s were off the hook. Thank you! Emily from BJ’s recommend your restaurant and she was right.

Great food. Had turkey Club sandwich with bacon. Servings are large. Beautiful setting with flowers and right along the Pacific highway. Lots of beer choices. It's dog friendly too!

Food was okay, way too much sauce, the bottom of my burger became soggy fast. Drinks were okay, I think this place is more about atmosphere. Also didn’t appreciate the secret added “surcharge”, restaurants should disclose that to patrons.

Tonight was our Sunday take-out Prime Rib dinner the wife and I will split for $20 ($19.99). TO - GO!!! Note my previous review @ $21.99. Also note the size is 12oz compared to local casino and other prime rib stops locally @ 8 and 10oz portions. We arrived just before 6pm and the band looked like it was setting up. The service staff that greeted me at the door were efficient and friendly. They gladly took my credit card and brought my food out in a nice paper bag - with handles. Fancy schmancy! And the bag was heavy. I called the huge, loaded potato as being the cause, and I was right. Very large russet. Very tasty with skin on. I think they must salt the skin. The prime rib was delicious and cooked perfectly to our desire. The mushrooms were satisfactorily prepared and plated to the side. But the entire dinner plate was carefully placed and plated in to-go packaging . It looked great upon opening. A terrific take-out experience. Dicks

We went here to watch the Packers game it was pretty nice they put on whatever game you need cuz there's lots of TVs and actually the food was pretty good for bar food I was pleasantly surprised!! Our dark-haired waiter I think his name was Steve was super cool.

I visited Mr. Peabody’s Bar & Grill on a Sunday night and was blown away by the experience. The highlight? The Jazz Jam Session featuring the incredible David Borgo and his talented friends. Their performance was nothing short of mesmerizing—a treat for any jazz enthusiast. The food is good—classic bar and grill fare that hits the spot—but let's be honest: the real reason to come here on a Sunday night is the music. The atmosphere was vibrant, the musicians were top-notch, and the crowd clearly shared the same love for jazz. If you're a fan of live music, you absolutely won’t be disappointed. I promise! Whether you're a local or just passing through Encinitas, make Mr. Peabody's your Sunday night destination. You’ll leave with your heart full of jazz and your soul thoroughly satisfied. My fourth time here but my first review. Came here before for breakfast which was pretty good but not worthy of a review. This time around I had the happy hour pork ribs, wings, and loaded baked potato. The ribs were tender the chicken wings were tasty little spicy two and a little big potatoes always good. The service all four times has been pretty good, some are more on the salty side which sort of fits the area near the sea but nonetheless they’ve been professional. Definitely check out the happy hour I think it’s worth the price and get there early before it gets too busy.

Nice place! The food is prepared well, good prices and large portions! The service is very good as well. However, the music leaves a bit to be desired. The karoake host continues to allow the same 2 or 3 regulars sing the VERY SAME SONGS each week and it is driving people away! Same for Open mic nights. Cool idea but not much variety. Definitely go for the food and bartenders! They are great!

Happy hour is so cheap and food is good. My happy hour ribs were a little over cooked and couldn't chew some parts but it tasted good. Love the Turkey Tacos! Wednesday Happy Hour all day!

Best place you can be on a Sunday night! Trust me; go big and get the Prime Rib special, listen to the band and have the best bar dinner you can find in San Diego. If you don’t like steak, everything else on the menu is better than you could ever imagine.

I normally do not write reviews but I just moved here and had a friend visiting for a few days! We decided to go out and started with shelter, which quickly turned into a nightmare, the bouncers took both mine AND my friends ID, refused to give them back and proceeded to interrogate my roommate over her ID as well. We had to call the cops to get them back, the worst experience I have ever had at any business. If you read prior reviews it sounds like this bar is notorious for being awful and taking people’s things, honestly it’s just so frustrating that I had to waste the cops time because these bouncers do not know what they are doing and all claim that they are the manager!

The bouncers attacked innocent patrons who were not a part of a fight and then allowed random other guy jump them. Meanwhile they didn't even stop the correct guys who started the whole thing. Shortly after they jumped on another patron who they apparently thought was causing trouble. Unfortunately, after looking at other reviews it does not seem like this is an isolated incident for the bouncers that work there.Clearly these men need education on the correct way to deescalate situations instead of adding to the violence.

Traveled to San Diego for the first to visit my friends from across the country and was in the bar for 2+ hours not doing anything (completely sober) and was standing on the back patio next to my friend and a manager walked up to me to check my ID and said it was fake and took it to the GM who checked it and said it was fake when it is my government ID and only way to get back onto a plane. I proceeded to show my setting personal info with my birthday and name along with my birth certificate, credit card matching, and a photo of my passport. They then tried to take my ID and kick me out and I finally got it back and they kicked me out into the back alley as a 21 year old girl completely alone behind the bar until my friends found me. They were so rude and need to do better about checking IDs because multiple people there were underage with fake IDs and clearly they can’t check an ID. Worst experience ever 0/10 and a miserable night for me being my first time in the city in general. Do better

I’ve been getting tables her for a few years now. The music is great bc the DJs are there to put on a show (especially fun when they have the lasers)! I’ve worked closely with Don, Ali, Ashley, Matt and others. They have always gone the extra mile to ensure my table has a great experience and gets the table we want with the bottles we want. Planning ahead or last minute fun, they’ve accommodated me and the people I’ve brought right away! And no waiting in the long line to get in 😊 Have fun there!

I was dancing hanging out with my friend and some random agressive dude who had nothing to do with anything at all (maybe it was a bouncer it was unclear at the time given lack of uniforms) and his affiliates grabbed him (by the neck) and myself and attacked us pushing us outside. I am very confused as to why. Maybe I was mistakenly affilated with another situation. Perhaps because i’m about 5’ 8” and my friend is 5’ 6”, we looked easy to pick on. Although we paid 20+ dollars for drinks and tipped, the bouncers (who we didn’t realize were the instigators at the time) and the police in Encinitas were no help at all . Dom, one of SHELTER Encinitas’ bouncers blamed my friend (I think inappropriately) for the situation claiming he was “Drunk” and therefore it was his fault for being assaulted?Dom works at a bar which sells alcohol to increases people’s BAC leading to drunkeness and my friend didn’t even exhibit any innapropriate behaviors so I don’t this characterization was fair and maybe was just a means to “shelter” him from responsibility. Dom was confused when I asked him as to why I was grabbed and pushed out of the bar. I would recommend avoiding SHELTER Encinitas at all costs. This occured Friday April 19, 2025, 1 - 2 am PST. I’ve never had an experience like this in my life. It’s an unbelievable scenario from my perspective as I expect better from humanity. I am writing this after the fact and we are extremely disappointed/frustrated with the situation. I am hoping for at the minimum, an apology from SHELTER Encinitas as would be expected from a business whose customers are being physically assaulted without reason.

The rudest management any bar/restaurant I have ever been to. Bouncers also cannot do their jobs. If you’re of age, be prepared to be turned away. If all of the bouncers & management at SHELTER can’t recognize real IDs from fake IDs, get anothet job. Or get this place an ID scanner. Ridiculous. First time in California, would never return here.

Stopped by for an early dinner on Valentine’s day, so they were only doing a set menu. Similar to another recent review, getting any initial service to order drinks was a long wait, which was hard to understand since we were in early and only a couple of other folks were in at the time. Sadly the food didn’t seem to match the price, as the halibut was dry and over cooked and everything seemed to be missing some seasoning and taste. The wine options were probably the best part of going here

Great food and happy hour, I especially enjoy the monthly wine flight! Everything I’ve ordered for food is always excellent. The only cons are they seem short staffed at times, and having a corkage fee for wine you buy there seems very odd. They’d have a lot more wine sales if they didn’t have that fee, but 🤷🏼‍♂️. Overall I love this place!

Great place ! Been there dozens of times for dinner or happy hour or wine flights. Solid wine lineup -- huge range by the glass plus a substantial wine shop with great variety and fair value prices and often have great specials. Been coming here for years. As a local born and raised in Encinitas, there is no better restaurant for drinks and great food that has withstood the times. As for the service from the staff it has always been exceptional. Most recently Saul has always taken care of me with recommendations on drinks and food. They have just recently changed their menu so definitely something to check out.

Love the food here. Everything I’ve had is absolutely delicious. The shrimp arrabbiata pasta is absolutely divine. The truffle Parmesan fries. The short rib. Escargot is delish with the baguette. I occasionally come for the tastings and today they hosted Rombauer. All the wine was wonderful. I took some time to browse the selections and they had multiple 93-95 point choices. They have flights for happy hour 4-6 daily and all day Tuesdays. They have Daou Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet, and Pessimist right now. All great varietals. Staff are awesome and the establishment is clean and organized.

Came here for Sunday Brunch. Very cute establishment. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Lots of wine to choose from and purchase to take home. We had Mimosas and I ordered the stuffed french toast. It was good but I'm bummed that I didn't have any photos. On a separate occasion, I stopped by for a drink. My wine was good that i decided to buy a bottle to take home. Join the wine club. Lastly, I had the creme brulee. I devoured it. It was light and not dense or too sweet. Perfect in my book. I want to return for dinner soon. The food looked amazing.

New to the area, checking out the neighborhood. I think I’ll be spending some time here! Very interesting selection of reds (that’s as far as I got) at reasonable prices. 7$ corkage fee for bottles consumed on the premises.

ENCINITAS ALE HOUSE was pretty good and not too bad. Those burgers are something else. Id happily fill a 5 gallon bucket with them and then have a 5 gallon bucket full of amazing hamburgers. The beer choices were not too bad either. Our waitress was very nice, but new to the job. But she did GREAT. Ok Bye

🍺 🍔 🏈 Intimate cozy local bar with a great beer list (on tap and bottles- many Belgians) and incredible burgers. I recommend the Santana burger with peppers but they are all good. It’s a good spot to watch the game and meet others at the bar. They have a mix of bar seats as well as tables. The menu includes burgers, pizza, and other options as well. And kind service! Oh and the brownie with bourbon and ice cream was delicious.

Great burger and fries, good quality hamburger and a great vibe inside and outside. Nice sidewalk deck seating space. Server was very friendly and attentive.

They had, I think it was the special of the day, a ribeye burger and it was delicious. The burgers came in a very good size and the bread is made in house. It’s a cool place and you can watch the games. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The bartender was nice.

My friends and I had a great time here especially the drinks. Before going there I heard they have one of the best burgers in SD but i not sure if I agree. Maybe the taste is a bit exotic to me. Anyways, the place is great in terms of staff friendliness and helpfulness, vibe is great and neighborhood is quite lively.

Food was pretty tasty, but the service was atrocious. Our server was rude and messed up our order more than once. When asked about our food and drinks, she had a bad attitude. I typically don't like leaving poor reviews, but this place definitely deserves one.

My friends and I ate here twice during my trip to San Diego. Food here is excellent!!! My first visit I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries and the second visit yesterday as I was getting ready to fly home I had a meat lovers pizza. The staff here is great as well!!!!

Sorry, I only had lemonade which was very tasty. We had a pear salad w steak, a bowl of vegetables & another of potatoes, happy hour ceviche & carnitas & short rib tacos. I have to say the blue corn tortillas were very rubbery, hard to chew. I ate the meats & veggies which were tasty. All of the dishes had nice presentation & were flavorful but the point of the tortilla is to eat all of it. The ceviche was excellent & spicy. I WILL try a margarita on my next visit.

I had an incredible experience at the restaurant last Friday! The live music added a great vibe to the already lively atmosphere. The new menu items were simply fantastic, and I highly recommend trying them out. First, I had the La Costa Tajin Machine cocktail, which was refreshingly spicy and perfectly balanced. The Shrimp Aguachile was the standout dish for me - the shrimp was incredibly fresh and the flavors were bright and bold. The Lobster Ceviche was another delicious highlight, with the tender chunks of lobster complementing the tangy ceviche perfectly. The Calamari was cooked to perfection and had a wonderful crunch to it. The Whole Roasted Corn was an excellent side dish and the perfect accompaniment to the rest of the meal. The Baja Fish Taco and Gobernador Taco were both amazing - the fish was flaky and flavorful, and the toppings were spot-on. The Mushroom Barbacoa taco was bursting with flavor and had a great texture. The Soft Shell Crab taco was also excellent - the crab was fresh and the taco was perfectly seasoned.

Loved the atmosphere and selection of small plates and unusual cocktails. We ordered tuna aguachile, oysters au gratin, fried shishito peppers, fish and shrimp tacos. Fire roasted salsa is delicious!

Go for happy hour and try the blistered tempura shishitos. The classic margarita & classic Paloma were so good we didn't try any of the flavor enhancers, but you can add charred pineapple, jalapeños, basil, etc. We had the salsa trio that comes with guacamole & chips: high quality. Everyone was happy with their tacos as well.

Just popped in because I heard this place has a coolness factor…. Not disappointed!!! Ordered the Passion Fruit and Hibiscus margaritas. Not only were they served up sexy, they tasted amazing! Got to try (and possibly name) the bartenders newest creation. It’s either the Nothing Fancy, Lori or Snap Dragon. And the ceviche was delicious, however we preferred chips over the crispy tostada. Will definitely come back!!!

Look, if you want to learn about tequila and mezcal this is the spot. I drink tequila for a hobby and stumbled upon this place as I was walking by. Mind blown by the selection of real tequila and the knowledge from the bar. It’s very rare you’ll find a place with such an array of tequilas and mezcals. Don’t worry though if you’re more into mixed drinks. This place is still amazing. My gf got a mixed drink and I got a sampler of the Paloma - excellent. Can’t comment on the food as I was more interested in the drinks !

The tacos here are alright for the most part, even if they lack soul. The best tacos I've eaten have something elemental about them. They taste like they came from somebody’s home kitchen, with meats straight off of somebody’s backyard grill. Great tacos feel like there has been true labor involved, true passion and love put into their construction. Conversely, the tacos that I get at places like Death by Tequila taste like they have been formulaically engineered by a culinary school grad to bomb the mouth with flavor as fast as possible, and then be forgotten almost as quickly. Some of it could be laziness, honestly. For example, Death by Tequila uses small corn tortillas from La Fe in Escondido. I sometimes buy these same tortillas for home-use from Sprouts and Whole Foods. They’re pretty good, but it is inexplicable that a place like this isn’t making their own tortillas. Hell, for what they’re charging (>$5 per taco on average), they should be growing and nixtamalizing their own corn, then grinding their own masa. But I digress. The "Carnitas Taco" is the worst of the group. Rather than what you and I would consider to be carnitas, It is instead flaccid braised Duroc pork with a very sweet pineapple-chipotle salsa. Whatever this is, it bears absolutely zero resemblance to anything that anyone would prepare in a cazo, and it simply did not taste good to boot. The "Barbacoa Taco" is made with braised beef cheek, and is the "spiciest" of the tacos I tried here. It is cinnamon-y and sweet, and I can appreciate what they tried to do, even if it registers as an average taco for San Diego County. Better are the "Market Fish Tacos" and the "Spicy Mole Tacos," the latter being a decent and piquant potato taco, and the former featuring lightly-seasoned, mild grilled opah garnished with dill. Their riff on the Fish Taco is both different and defiant but, again, about on par with others in San Diego. I understand that food isn't the true priority here, and perhaps this review is a wee unfair because I'm reviewing a cocktail bar meant for an early-to-mid-20s crowd as if it were a serious restaurant for grown-ups. But if you want to P.R. your way into Troy Johnson’s “Eat This” list, and convince San Diego Magazine to name you the “Best New Restaurant,” you're painting a target on your back. With great hype comes great scrutiny.

You’ll get kicked out of this bar for absolutely no reason. I was simply sitting at a table hanging out with friends, when one of the bouncers suddenly comes over and aggressively tells me “if you’re sleeping then you gotta go” (i was wide awake, literally just sitting there). Then a minute later he comes over with another bouncer and tells me i’m getting kicked out for sleeping….? I stand up, my friend and I ask the guy - what’s the deal, since i’m not causing any issuse (and wide awake) The bouncer gets agressive and pushes my friend. Oh and on the way out, another patron sees this and exclaims how unfair and rude the security is. Ownership - what kind of conduct is this? How is that acceptable from your employees? Completely unreasonable security that kicks people out for minding their own business and trying to enjoy the night with friends is not the way to create a fun setting. If i was causing an actual issue i’d admit it. But it was shocking to get treated that way last night.

An icon on the 101 Highway. Great dive bar with plenty of TVs and a pool table. Be sure and stop by Mondays for open mic comedy. Keep an eye out for Afi Komonn those days.

Such a fun and relaxed vibe at 1st Street. Pool, mini shuffleboard, great place to watch sports or meet new and fascinating people. Ian and Gary are at the door; both very personable and cool. The owner happened to be there when I came in to watch tennis and catch the Broncos, and was such a generous and laid back individual. Karaoke and open mic on Mon and Tues; this place always has something going on. Food availability to take inside as well with a neighboring sidewalk vendor; amazing eats. I don't see any unsmiling faces here, and have visited on different days, different hours. Never the same experience twice; and always a welcome feel. Definitely worth coming in and counting yourself as a local. Just do it!🎱

Best of both worlds, Great place for music and sports! Played here with my band last month and had a blast. Loved being so close to the beach, you could practically feel the waves at the bar. Small stage but good sound. Lots of seating and standing room for guests. Several big screen TV s broadcasting the big games, pretty good parking all around. (Easy load in for drummers, thank you 1st!!) Staff was great, and the bar even offers non-alcoholic beer which is a nice treat. Great music (of course) and tons of amazing food arou d the neighborhood. The vibes were chill and the bar had a big open wall/window so people walking by could get a sample of the party. It was nice to see outside while playing, and watch the colors of the sunset change. A fun place for a date or to hang with friends, even cool for family (adults of course). I felt comfortable having my dad, uncles and aunts come to my show knowing they would have a good safe time. I highly recommend checking out 1st Bar Encinitas next time your in North county!

It is a small quiet bar. Cool bar tenders. Great for small get together with friends.

Great location and fun atmosphere. Was packed during my last visit (my 90's band was there playing live). Nice stage, seating and ample dance floor. Top notch hosts with a wide variety of drink and beer selections. Will be out for another visit soon.

Usually I love 1st street but recently my apartment (including my id and passport) burned down in the palisades fire in LA and i brought proof of my age via pictures of my id but i was denied entry. I understand if you can't let me in because I don't have my id (already applied for a new id at the disaster shelter) but they were incredibly rude about it. I just lost everything I've ever owned, I don't have a bed anymore, the least you could do is be kind while rejecting me.

I love this theater. They show classic movies and it brings back such a sense of early 2000s nostalgia. I came here to see the Phantom Menace and attack of the clones five stars for being able to choose our own seat, great customer service, and great quality concessions.

Cash only. Admission is $12, but the candy and popcorn is all $5, which is overpriced in my opinion. Seats were uncomfortable and the overall theater is poorly maintained. Has a lot of potential to bring new indie films to the area, but instead choose only cult classics. Which is fine, but personally it could have a more impact on the community by having events and showings.

Perfect novelty. A lovely treasure for San Diego history and film lovers. Also the perfect place to watch David Lynch’s Eraserhead. A worn theater but still so nice.

Paid for a ticket online for 8PM showing of pride and prejudice for May 5. No one came to open the theater! We waited until 8:30 then just left. No one answering phone to address getting a refund. Ridiculous lol

In 1973 I was living in Encinitas and would go there almost daily. There was a small metaphysical bookstore in it. I did watch Ram Das’s movie “Sunseed the Journey.” I loved my short 30 day stay in Encinitas.

Watch " On Sacred Ground" Documentary about the oil pipe being built throughout private lands and the mistreatment of the Native American Tribes. Felt like I went back in time while I was seated in the theater. While looking to the ceiling, admiring all the artwork.

If I could do negative stars I would 04/05/2025 my wife and my best friends wife were grabbed by a man inappropriately and the bouncer told me and wives husband the man who grabbed our wife’s was a friend of the owner. Long story short he wasn’t kicked out and the same man who grabbed our wives walked past our table multiple times after the inappropriate touching and the bouncers never removed him due to his friendship with the owner. We were told due to the circumstances people travel to California and certain touches are acceptable in different states and his friendship with the owner was the reason he wasn’t kicked out of the bar. Totally unacceptable and the bouncer seemed to want to be on our side but due to the connection with the owner he still had his back and chose women being touched inappropriately rather than doing the right thing.

The place is empty on a Sunday night. $10 cocktails and made nice and strong. Personally wouldn't want to be in here during peak hours.

Cool bartendresses makin mean drinks in the tiniest watering hole in LB. Hella crowded but found a spot at the OG oak bar with zero wait. Got a smooth limes+ Crown & 7 (for $15 ($12+tip)), talked to a crazy tourist dude from Connecticut, met the work homies and bounced ⭐️’s for “Food” applies to drinks

Don't be misled by my four star rating... I am a firm believer in the fact that there is always room for improvement no matter where you go or what you do... That being said, I would definitely oh, I mean definitely, recommend this place to anybody. If you are in need of a tasty adult beverage and wonderful impeccable customer service, stop by the saloon. I was fortunate enough to go on a day where it was not overly crowded at all and the bartender, Wes, was nothing but a delight and a smile that was much needed. Great drinks, impeccable customer service, and definitely won't break your bank... You're welcome on this hidden Jewel...

I visited on July 5th with my boyfriend to get a drink while we were waiting for our reservation at another restaurant. The bartender I had was all jittery like he was on something. He gave me the wrong card to sign for my drink, and now my AMEX has fraudulent charges on it, including this bar. I was charged $2 for a michelada and a mixed drink and I was never given a receipt. I want a reply from the GM and that bartender fired ASAP.

Says they open at 6:00 pm on Saturdays. We came 15 minutes till 6:00, figured we would just wait the 15 minutes since we found great parking... We waited and waited… finally left around 6:30 as they never unlocked the door. They turned on the music, turned the TV on, and they were behind the bar with two older people sitting at the bar, yet they never opened the door, nor would they answer the phone. We watched at least 15 people come try to open the door in the 30 + minutes that we waited. Lots of lost business.

I'm from Utah, first time visiting. At first this place was great, got in quick, service was great, great drinks, little expensive. Atmosphere was awesome , music was great, met some awesome people. After a couple hours I wanted a cigarette. I stepped outside, by the time I was done there was a line to get back in. The door guys refused to let me back in disregarding the fact that my credit and drink was still in the bar. Legitimately refused to let me go in. *my credit card was in the bar with an open tab*. I was extremely frustrated but was calm and went to wait in line. I waited for about ten fifteen minutes and the bar was almost closed. I ended up paying 20$ to someone in the line to get to the front just to get my credit card so it wouldn't remain there overnight. I would recommend going here on maybe a night where the d*** at the door isn't working.

Was walking by and stopped in for a beer. Irish Stout was solid beer here, slightly roasted taste. Friendly staff. Nice open space concept

Really enjoyed this place. Nice variety of beers to choose from. Located in the heart of the Encinitas business area. Has a nice outdoor seating area, which was definitely needed since it can get busy. We'll worth trying for a few beers. Definitely plan to come back.

We were looking for coffee and decided to get a beer when we spotted this place. I'm enjoying the Desert Gose and he has the Rose Lager and both are quite delightful. Relaxed atmosphere with a good amount of merchandise available. If I were local this would quickly become a favorite hang out spot.

Best beer in town for all I care, charming but modern atmosphere, hot bartenders. Five stars

This place is a 10/10! We showed up with a large party (11 of us) and the customer service was amazing. The beers are also great with them having a full spectrum of light to dark beers to choose from. Note they have one bathroom and it’s always being used. So don’t wait for the last minute

Only reason I only give a four is because there isn’t much to do like games or anything and the place is kinda bland. BUT the beer is great. Huge variety! Very tasty and cool that you can bring your own food. The beers are very reasonably priced as well.

Night did not go quite as planned, but server Jenna made up for it by providing outstanding attention and understanding. I let her pick the meal, and Chef Humberto did not disappoint! Amazing food; great location and views. Cloud cover did not allow for the Sunset views, but that couldn't be helped. I would highly recommend PCG for a meal, and for the atmosphere. Props to Jenna who helped make an awkward situation into a positive!

This place is just wonderful, Amazing view with great service. We had fried calamari & paella 🥘 but I don't recommend the paella it was super salty & full of sauce. Fried calamari was super delicious 😋. The waiters are so kind & helpful. The service is great & fast. They also treated us with complimentary cheesecake for my wife birthday.

The restaurant is right by the ocean which provides an amazing view especially during the sunset. In my prior experiences, being near ocean justified not having the best food quality, however here the food is the main focus and I was blown by its taste and quality👌, service was also great! I had the sesame seared Ahi and my wife had the short rib, both dishes were delicious and tastefully designed👌

I’m giving 2 stars mostly because of the host. When we arrived, she didn’t greet us at all, which felt pretty unwelcoming. The restaurant was empty, and even though our reservation was at 4:00 and we showed up at 3:45, she told us we had to wait, kind of strange considering no one was there. The view is honestly gorgeous, definitely the best part of the whole place. Service was good thanks to Meshael he is really good and professional. Food was fine, but nothing I’d go back for. Overall, the experience wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t great either.

Our server did a great job. The food was on point! Aside from the amazing patio view, this restaurant is very impressive because of the dishes. If you want to see the chef in action I always recommend trying multiple appetizers. I got a few rolls and the guacamole with the crab in it. It was so good! For my main dish I had the surf and turf burrito. It was perfect because it wasn't over powering from lots of meat. It was a perfect ratio of shrimp, meat, and cheese. This place is a must try.

The good: Beautiful sunset setting and the Chilean sea bass was excellent — perfectly cooked and plated. Hard to beat the view. The bad: Even with reservations made weeks in advance, the prime oceanfront tables seemed reserved for locals. We were told, “There are several private reservations, but we’ll do what we can.” It’s a disappointing experience when you’ve planned ahead for a special evening. The seared ahi tuna was also underwhelming — nice presentation but little flavor. Bottom line: The view delivers, but the service and seating priorities don’t match the hype. Next time I’d drive 10 minutes south to Del Mar and dine at Jake’s or Poseidon, where the food and experience both feel worth it.

We enjoyed lunch at the Pacific Coast Grill (2526 Coast Highway 101). Parking is by valet ($8) only. Watching him maneuvering the cars in a very tight parking lot is worth the cost :) . The location is gorgeous, directly on the beach. We ordered Rombauer Sauvignon Blanc and their Poke Bowl along with their Lobster & Shrimp deluxe sandwich. For desert we had their hot apple pie with vanilla ice cream and brown sugar crumble. The Rombauer was delightful. The Poke Bowl was excellent. The Lobster & Shrimp sandwich was good. It was mostly shrimp and served warm. It actually tasted better when it cooled off. The apple pie was a real treat. The vanilla was very creamy and hot apple chunks delicious with the crumble topping.

Moonlight State Beach was hands down one of the best beaches I’ve been to in a long time. The atmosphere was incredible—families gathered around a cozy fire pit, sharing food and enjoying each other’s company. Even though it was a little chilly because of the time of year we visited, it was still relaxing to have our feet in the sand, breathing in the ocean air. There was such a good vibe all around—peaceful, friendly, and full of life. It felt like a perfect blend of fun and relaxation. The beach was super kid-friendly, which made the visit even better. There were plenty of people out surfing, giving it a lively, active feel, and the playground nearby kept the kids entertained when they weren’t splashing around. The showers and restrooms were convenient and clean, which made the whole experience that much more comfortable. Plus, the big lifeguard building nearby gave me an added sense of safety, knowing help was close if needed. I could definitely see myself coming back again—whether for a full beach day or just to catch a sunset by the fire.

If you're looking for a great public beach that has it all, this is the spot. You've got volleyball, a kids' area, and calm water, but you can also find some solid surf waves if that's what you're after. Just remember that it can be a little foggy in the mornings, but the famous California sun usually breaks through in the afternoon. I got here bright and early on a Sunday (6 a.m.!) and had no problem with parking. It definitely fills up later, but there are lots and street parking to choose from. A quick tip: park in the residential area near the volleyball if you want to skip the stairs or hill. My favorite part was getting to watch the surfers while I went for a run—and the outdoor rinse-off area was perfect for removing all that sand before heading out.

I had some time to kill before heading to San Diego and was pleasantly surprised to find such a beautiful spot to have lunch. I was expecting to pay for parking but it was free.

Bro-Am 2025 was great! Love Moonlight Beach. There are public bathrooms, food vendors, and limited parking. There was a bus shuttle. We didn't attend the entire day. The Switch foot set was wonderful!!

Pretty cool beach. They have decent bathrooms and outdoor showers. There was a little Cafe and playground. There are also rentals (like surfboards). I rode my bicycle and they had plenty of good bike racks, that were buried in the concrete, not just loosely bolted in. So I felt comfortable locking up my bicycle, along with all the other bikes. They also had volleyball nets.

This is such a great place with so many things to do! They have a pretty awesome concession as well! You can rent boogie boards and volleyballs to play in the sand courts. The lifeguards are amazing and actively running the beach and in and out of the water. They go above and beyond to ensure the safety of the people. I felt super safe knowing the lifeguards are actively watching and protecting!

The best beach in the Encinitas area, although it isn't exactly secluded. It can get crowded, but it is very scenic, with facilities.

This bar has a touch of class. It’s extremely comfortable. One evening we sat indoors and had appetizers that were fabulous, shrimp and calamari. The windows were open and that beach breeze blew through. It was so nice. The following night on Friday, I returned to hear the live music. The band was really great and the service was very good, and the atmosphere is just a perfect Cardiff beach feeling. Comfortable attire is appropriate, no need to get fancy. They are quick to seat you and feed you and keep your drinks fresh and answer any questions. Food was amazing. And the band was excellent, playing in the open air back room. What a really nice place to relax and have good food, good music, and good friendship. I definitely recommend it.

We go here all the time. The staff remembers us each time and really makes you feel welcome. The Philly cheese steak is amazing and it is great bar food. It’s a really fun place to watch a game or listen to live music. The only down side is it can be hard to get in to during major sports events.

I absolutely love this restaurant. We’ve been going for a few years and have seen evolutions with their menu. It doesn’t really matter what’s on their menu at the time, it’s always delicious. The staff is incredibly friendly and you’re guaranteed to have a good time. It’s also walkable from the train station and a great place to take a walk by the beach after eating. Really enjoy game days here, especially if you’re a Michigan or Padres fan!

Tried the elote fries. It tasted okay. Could've been better with fresh cilantro, lime, and maybe fresh pico de gallo on the side. Also had the fish tacos. They were okay. Could've been better with more fresh veggies to cut down on the fried taste, more crema, and limes in the side. Handmade hot sauce would be delish too. I was given tapatio. The atmosphere was great. Sat in the patio area. Nice breeze and the beach air. The band was also enjoyable to listen to. Good vibes, food was just okay.

Hard to make a location, obviously given where it is. Unfortunately the food is not all that great. I had a Cuban sandwich and there may have been one small slice of meat and a small piece of pulled pork. Really disappointing portion size. And then the fry basket, a number of fries I could probably count on two hands. Maybe it was just the day I was there but I was left pretty disappointed

They have great vibes! Across street from the beach, we sat on the patio with our pup. Food is tasty, we ordered: -coconut shrimp (it was good but only 5 pieces for $15, not worth it I wouldn’t recommend it) - Philly cheesecake sandwich (amazing! It’s a must) - tower salad with beef (very yummy salad, good portion, steak was a lil dried & over cooked I would recommend to add the same steak from Philly sandwich) -brownie dessert (soooooo good)

Really can't go wrong with any of the tacos. Plenty of flavors for everyone's palate. Decent cocktail list and an even better draft beer selection. I recommend sitting out in the back patio area eating tacos watching the sunset. A definite must if you're in the area.

This morning, I enjoyed another coffee date with my beautiful wife. This time, we ventured to Better Buzz Coffee located in Encinitas. We ordered the medium blend coffee ☕. My wife said the medium blend was blah. Better Buzz quickly provided her a dark roast, much better. The energetic ambience of Better Buzz wakes you up. There is good energy here, with music playing in the background. The coffee shop has large windows, which provide an open air feel. The shop is pet friendly. Parking is somewhat tricky. Yes, there is limited street parking in front, but there is also parking behind the shop. Better Buzz provided art work, so you know exactly what back door to enter. Finally, my daughter likes this coffee shop. Yes, I plan to enjoy more coffee here, and you as well should come and enjoy a cup ☕.

I had high hopes for this coffee shop, based on all the reviews I had read, the online hype, the long lines, and the general Buzzy atmosphere, as well as the polished and unique aesthetic. I ordered the horchata cold brew, and sadly was disappointed. I don’t know how to describe it, but I have traveled to almost 50 countries to drink coffees from all around the world, and the coffee here just tasted very disappointing, very flat, and just very cheap. I didn’t enjoy the taste of the flavoring they had used in my drink, And perhaps worst of all, I wanted to order one of their famous breakfast burritos, but they were actually out of tortillas. I mean, being out of tortillas in this region of California is actually pretty crazy to think about. I would definitely not come here again, it just felt like a Starbucks with a different coat of paint on it, very solace, very lacking flavor, however, I really enjoyed how nice the staff was, and it did seem like a great place to work.

Tried three different drinks and all of them were way too sweet for our taste. We couldn’t finish them. That said, if you’re into super sweet drinks, this place might be right up your alley. Staff was nice and the vibe was good, just not our kind of flavor.

I love this location. Parking was available just outside the entrance. The Mexican mocha was made to my friend's liking; a hint of chocolate and not super sweet. I ordered a black regular coffee and the serving size was a lot bigger than I expected. They had free stickers that say Better Buzz which will go on my car. The Bee and sunflower decor make this a place to which I would love to come back. The time was late so maybe next time we'll stop for more than just coffee.

Atmosphere- 5 stars- very busy but has plenty of seating. Open air bar seating area towards front of cafe. Perfect for people watching or surfing the internet. Service- 5 stars- super friendly and efficient. Food- Had an iced vanilla latte and it was awesome!!!

Found this quaint little place called Buzz Coffee we walked in we were greeted with a smile the smell of freshly brewed coffee. The young lady at the counter help us pick out our copies to our specific specification. When I told her that I mistakenly got the wrong kind of copy I wanted hot she smiled and said that would not be a problem and proceeded to make me a new copy and then told me to have a great day. They have great service and I will definitely be returning to many different locations for buds coffee.

I’ve been a fan of Better Buzz for years—what sets a truly great coffee shop apart isn’t just the coffee (which, to be fair, is still solid here), but the people and the experience. That’s what keeps customers coming back. Unfortunately, the Encinitas location seems to be losing sight of that. I visited the store this Saturday evening and was disappointed by both the cleanliness and the service. The front area where patrons sit to enjoy their drinks, chat, or get work done was dirty and clearly neglected. It doesn’t take much to keep a space tidy, but it looked like no one had bothered to clean in a while. Even more frustrating was the attitude of the staff. A simple question about whether the Wi-Fi was working was met with an eye roll and zero initiative to check or assist. The store wasn’t busy—no line, no rush—yet there was a complete lack of effort or courtesy. Customer service felt like an afterthought, if that. I’m a local and have supported Better Buzz for a long time, but if this is the direction the brand is heading as they continue to grow—detached staff and unclean stores—I’d rather take my business elsewhere. At least at Starbucks, I know I’ll get a clean seat and someone willing to help. Do better, Better Buzz.

A Very fresh incredibly perfect roll fantastic lobster flown in everyday. A place your order inside you get a number and find a seat. Very quickly are served and always with a smile.

Good beer selection and a whiskey club! Ordered the crab benny but the eggs were overcooked. Overall not bad for the area.

Can’t beat $10 for a burger and a pint! Monday night food ball deal was perfect! Ballast Point was the pint of the night when we went.

I had lunch and some drinks here yesterday and while I had a good time there were a few hiccups along the way. Drink prices were reasonable but they don't have as big a beer selection as I was hoping (translation: they didn't have the beer on tap that I wanted). Food prices were on par with expectations and was good for a bar but our server forgot a couple orders so we didn't get to eat it "together". They have a lot of TVs so you get plenty of games on for college football or NFL. The place was fairly empty for noon on a Saturday when lots of popular teams were playing. Guess it used to be a happening place but anymore I couldn't tell.

If you like thin crust authentic romana style pizza. Come here. If you in for great pizza, come as well. We really enjoyed the terrific pizza. And as pizza works best with beer (no wine), get a chango beer

I have had a lot of great pizzas from here over the years. The Gouda Garlic Alfredo is unique and definitely a favorite. They have interesting ingredients to play around with for the Build Your Own. I loved a Chicken, Bacon and Onion combo. It can be a bit of a wait, but worth it. And you have to like the coal-fired type of pizza. It can get a bit like a toasted marshmallow. This location is close to the beaches, so I usually take it to enjoy at the Ocean. Crashing waves and pizza, what bliss.

After a perfect beach day in Encinitas, we stumbled upon this low-key pizza spot, and wow, were we impressed! The huge pizzas were absolutely delicious - every slice was a winner. But honestly, the real MVP might have been the salsa. Seriously, it was even better than the pizza itself, which is saying something! If you're looking for a relaxed vibe and incredible food after a day by the ocean, this is your spot. We can't wait to go back.

Highly disappointing unfortunately. Having visited other URBN locations in San Diego, I expected better. $40 with a drink, pie was paper thin with almost no sauce or cheese, burnt, tasteless, and not edible. Was told this is the quality to expect at this location, staff didn't seem to care.

We ordered takeout and everything was excellent. Our order was ready right on time, and they even surprised us with an extra Caesar salad—which turned out to be delicious. Both pizzas we ordered were very good, and their small size easily serves two people. Great food, great service, and we’ll definitely be back!

I wish I took pictures, but the pizza was 🔥! Hot straight out the oven. Definitely have wide individual slices so one slice would be a good portion. Shout out to Carlos and Brian! Great people and good conversation. Will see you guys again!

Stopped by for a few beers and a snack after a long day of driving. I was impressed by the open plan and comfortable seating especially with lots of outlets! Beautiful spicy Ahi tuna appetizer. After a few tables filled up though we started having to look for the server. The server was not always the same and finally after ordering, the beer didn't show up. After an extended period a server showed up who asked if we wanted anything else. I did not have enough time to order again and so we just took the bill. Good food, fresh beer, but having more than one server per table is a recipe for disaster.

I like the open feel of this place. The windows swing up, opening the restaurant to the street. The PH Burger is good, but small. Don't worry about it being too spicy. It was flavorful, but a little overcooked and dry. The included fries were good. Avoid the Blackened Shrimp Tacos. They weren't blackened at all, and were lacking flavor. As expected, this place has a good craft beer selection although some of the beers are pricey ($8). However, overall the meal was a good value and the service was good. Wi-Fi password is PriorityPH

The location and breezy feel brought us in for brunch. The staff and natural light give PPH good vibes which goes well with the faint reggae tunes. The tables and menus are sticky, and the kids commented on it. The menu is short, which I like, however it lacks imagination. I wanted a brunch cocktail, but nothing called to me. The kids menu is status quo so the kids ordered from the sides menu. My pulled pork sandwich was smokey and spicy- very good. The warm syrup for the kids pancakes got everywhere, explaining the sticky tables. This place could totally have it going on with some more exciting drink and menu options, and maybe some eco friendly degreaser.

Delicious cocktails and food! Loved the carne asada fries, bruschetta, and chips. The Leucadia sunrise is my favorite cocktail there. Sometimes they get busy but the servers do their best to get to everyone at those busy times and are usually very accommodating and friendly too!

Other go-to place for brunch on Sunday. Bottomless Mimosas are a good deal. Very friendly staff and live music make for a great way to spend part of your weekend!

This place does everything well but the atmosphere it does splendidly. The building won an award for its architecture with the use of concrete wood and it is hard to miss. While it is casual and cone as you are the building oozes a sense of elegance and brings local cuisine to life. I recommend stopping in while exploring the soft and friendly Leucadia vibe in Encinitas.

An absolute must in Encinitas! We had the mixed plate, patatas bravas and meatballs, and they were all delicious and great serving sizes. The wine was also great at awesome prices. Best of all, our waiter was fantastic and the outdoor patio was great. I really enjoyed my meal here!

Had an amazing event at Solterra last week! We had our annual company party in their barrel room and front patio. Cindy and her team did an amazing job of making sure everything went smooth. The food was great, ambiance was perfect and we just had a great time. Pricing is very reasonable. Would definitely recommend it for any kind of special event.

I planned my event at Solterra in Encinitas, and it was absolutely perfect. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the food and wine were incredible, and everything flowed seamlessly. A huge shoutout to Cindy, who went above and beyond to make the entire process stress-free and enjoyable. From planning to execution, she was attentive, organized, and genuinely cared about making the evening special for us. I can’t recommend Solterra enough! Not only for the food and vibe but also for the exceptional service. If you’re planning an event or just looking for a memorable dining experience in Encinitas, this is the place.

Our server was great and super friendly and the restaurant itself is very cute! While the food was pretty good its not authentic Spanish food really which was a bit disappointing considering that is a big part of their menu! They do have vegan and vegetarian options which is awesome!

Always have a great experience here. The staff is very friendly and welcoming as well as knowledgeable about the menu and wines. Happy hour is great, and the membership is very good value for money. The atmosphere is very relaxed, good for all groups of people. I really like the bravas and the calamari. They’ve recently changed their menu and the items look great, I look forward to trying them, so far I’ve had the sausage and it was delicious. Always love coming here.

GREAT DATE SPOT- we went last night and were sat quickly without a reso (it was busy though). The live music was great! There were no tasting flights that night (first time we had run into that)- but had several half glasses of great wine. We also ordered the mussels and shishito peppers. Both delicious. Our server was super friendly. Will be back!

Our 3rd year in a row celebrating New Year’s Eve dinner at Black Restaurant Kitchen. The food was delicious—the steak was cooked perfectly and served in just the right portion. The pork brine was flavorful and easily one of our favorites of the evening. However, the music stopped around 9 PM and remained off for about 45 minutes. Just as we were reaching the peak of the evening and getting into the mood, the silence felt like a letdown. Last year’s band had everyone dancing—kids, couples, everyone was on their feet, enjoying the music. This year’s band didn’t quite capture that same energy, and the gap in music took away from the festive vibe. While we might return for a jazz brunch (which sounds amazing), we’ll likely try somewhere new for next year’s New Year’s Eve dinner. Overall, a good evening with fantastic food, but a few missed beats in the ambiance.

Love the ambiance and our server was great.. lamb meatballs & my purple rain drink was delicious. We weren't big fans of brussels or mushroom pasta. In fairness I'm not a big pasta person, so I probably shouldn't even have ordered it. (But Wanted something different). Would return here next time we're in town.

Great experience! We came here on a Sunday night. We had reservations but honestly, you don't need them. We got seated right away. Ambiance is very nice. They had music outdoors and we asked to be seated away from it. There is tons of seating indoors and outdoors. On Sunday night, they have a 3 course dinner for 2 option for $79+taxes. My friend and I did the math, which was mathing so we chose this option. We got the crispy brussel sprouts, the Moroccan braised lamb meatballs and the tomato basil pasta and the semifreddo for dessert. The food was all very good and we enjoyed our choices. We would recommend all of our choices again and would eat the same exact menu again. The semifreddo was actually surprisingly great. My friend and I are thinking of making this our usual haunt to catch up.

We sat outside so the pictures are a little dark . They have lap blankets , heaters and fires to keep you warm. The drinks were tasty. The chimichurri lentils blew my mind. Steak sandwich was so tender and didn’t fall apart when bitten into . Their desserts were delish. Reservations are suggested as they do fill up

We had our 40th HS reunion here and it was perfect! Great atmosphere for large parties or groups but also provides a cozy, intimate setting for more personal dining. The food and service was outstanding. Highly recommend!

Exceptional dining experience. Warm and welcoming staff, unique and tasty food, with delicately balanced fresh flavors. Interesting cocktail and wine choices, open relaxed venue with a unique decor (a bit loud on Fri night, don’t try to conduct business😁). Our server Nicole C had impeccable timing and guided our choices with her expertise, curating a wonderful meal from start to finish. Lovely adult dining experience. Would not recommend for children (does not mean you could not bring them, just might be a bit hectic and loud for little ones? … of course we were there on a Friday night). We will definitely be back!

Came here for the Jazz Brunch and it was incredible. Loved the guy on the keys as well as the amazing singer. We had a side of pancakes before our meal that were thin, warm and delightful. My New York Steak and eggs were cooked to perfection and we left very happy. Amazing service by our server and the staff, both friendly and attentive. 5 stars and will definitely be back next time we are in the Carlsbad area.

Pretty disappointed in my sandwich, the best seller, highly rated “Turketta.” Honestly it lacked a lot of flavor and didn’t move me in any way, shape, or form. I can’t say much about the sandwich or Moto, other than I probably won’t be back. The price of this sandwich is the second motivating factor that won’t bring me back. I feel ripped off. $18 for a regular sized sandwich. Why is this being normalized? Hurts even more when it’s poor quality.

Cuban sandwich is excellent! BLT is good. Meatball was ok, a bit dry. Chips are very good. Definitely recommend.

We were very happy with the selections with both traditional sandwiches and vegetarian options. I had the caprese sandwich and added pesto. Ordered a bag of the potato chips and a pickle. All were fabulous! The bread for the sandwich was incredible. Loved the fact that it was a reasonable size sandwich and didn’t leave me feeling like I had way too much. Great place for well-made and constructed sandwiches. Friendly counter worker was engaging and prompt. Clean service are with large outdoor patio. Very dog friendly too. I'll be back sometime this week.

20 years i've been waiting for this legit sandwich shop to open... Imaginative sandwiches excellently prepared. You can tell the attention for detail by balanced construction, top quality ingredients and perfect execution. Even the bread flawlessly fried. I'm not religious but this joint makes me wanna holler God bless you. Reuben and fried chicken pictured. Hat's off.

Had the opportunity to try the Cuban Sandwich the other day and was quite impressed. If given the option, I always like to try Cuban sandwiches, and this one definitely impressed. The staff took great care of me and I was able to try a few of the cold brewed coffees available on tap....also very good. Can't wait to come back, just too bad I live in Pacific Beach and the drive to North County doesn't happen too often for me.

Great vibe and interesting drinks. They have a bunch of plant based / vegan food options. All the food was great but the burger and brussels were saaaalty. I’m a big salt guy but they were so incredibly salty that I couldn’t finish the brussels - kinda sad because they tasted incredible otherwise. Would for sure be back and in future would ask them to tone down the salt!

Check this place out for an assortment of their brews, vibe, and food items. Friendly servers and spacious bar area as well as seating areas. We tried the Pickled Pilsner which was excellent and the Velvet Glow. The Brussel Sprouts were awesome and the flatbread was fresh and hot also. They have a large selection of old vintage record albums too. A cooler is stocked for to go orders!

We had a quick beer and a sandwich. The sandwich was excellent. Was fun to have a really good selection of beer and the one I chose was really a good local one.

Great beer and vibes. Joseph was an amazing bartender and we loved his hospitality. The pickle beer was unique and delicious if you're a fan of pickles! Definitely worth a stop if you're passing through Encinitas!

Let me start on the food. Being plant based myself the food was always a draw for me. It use to be one of my favorite places to get a burger. I went in yesterday late afternoon and I was disappointed. This is a double patty smash burger. It tasted as sad as it looked. The fries too not sure how you mess those up but everything lacked actual flavor, tasted like oil. The beer, none of the beers that initially attracted me to the brand are even on the menu anymore. After the “remodel” it definitely lost a vibe that it had, not sure how you make something look less cool. Probably won’t be back here, the menu just keeps going downhill all my faves are gone. Super disappointed I really loved this place and I never like writing bad reviews.

Very friendly service & good beer. We had lunch here and the food was also very good. Definitely recommend the loaded fries with the plant based taco meat. I loved the Brussels sprouts, they are prepared so that most of the moisture has cooked out of them and the resulting sprout is super light and crunchy. Absolutely delicious. The burrito was also pretty good.

its pretty good if you want to stop by for good beer and bites. Food is all plant based but still was ok, we just tried the loaded fries with “carne asada” i figured later its plant based meat. atmosphere was good, mixed with retro and modern, beer was good , staff was friendly, restrooms were clean. what else you expect from a brewery branch. Also its dog/pet friendly.

My favorite bar in Encinitas! The back patio is great for sitting around a fire watching a game with friends. Dog friendly, great tap list, a couple pool tables, shuffleboard, darts. All around just a perfect neighborhood bar.

Cool place. Their bar counter is a very old case containing seashells. Pool tables and interesting restroom wallpaper. Strong drink, but small glass for the price. Their outside patio is huge! That's where they have a vendor selling tacos, yum. Good place to stop by and chill

I finally got to Belly Up and for a "first timer" it didn't disappoint! I'm grateful to my friend, who had been before, for knowing how to get the best seats. There are only a few seats available, and if you're not quick, you may end up standing. The band was good, George Throrogood & the Destroyers, the food was good, the service was very good and the drinks were OK, but expensive. Parking is free but minimal. Overall, I was impressed and would not hesitate to return.

Okay. I'm gonna get letters. If I could, I would give this venue 2 1/2 stars. This is for General Admission, by the way. The parking was easy enough when I got there an hour early. Say just over 100 yards to the back of the line. The line, eventually, was longer in back than I was to the front, so fine. Getting in, I quickly found that the, "No guarantee of a seat", on my ticket was prophetically true. VIP members get first dibs on seating, so, maybe, two hours early? Also, don't expect that eating next door will be your gateway to an early admission; not on a sellout. Expect to be standing for the entire show. I was grateful for my spot against a pillar and some row seating. I had AC at that spot as well. Hey, viewing is good from everywhere, so there is that. About the show in relation to the venue; here's where it falls apart for me. I need to remember IT'S A CLUB. Full bar, and it looks like food can be ordered as well (seat specific, I'm sure). The talking around me was distracting at times when quiet was called for and the music loses out sometimes. It does sound okay otherwise. There it is. Hey, I'm glad the Belly Up has been here as long as it has. Goodness. It was there when I lived nearby almost 50 years ago. Kudos to them. The most important things to know are to wear comfortable shoes, and pick shows that work well in a club-like setting.

What a great venue, close and intimate with the bands, excellent sound system, surround stage. Some seating at the edges of you get there early enough. All around great performance by "In the Air Tonight"

I've been coming to the Belly-Up for concerts for 36 years. Had the privilege of performing there as the opener for a sold-out Highwayman Show. Last night (10/5/25) was there to see the Chameleons. Good times as always!

Excellent venue with seating. Great view of the stage. Been here many times as its a short drive from San Diego.

Love this place. Very good location right in Cardiff. This place is dog friendly and great even if youre not a beer lover. They have lots of good options and very friendly staff to help you decide. I went with the beer flight so I could try a few things. I got to design my own flight. I loved not being stuck with any unwanted beers.

I don’t even like beer, and I’m here a few days a week. Vinyl night on Mondays? Yes. Irreverent beer names? Also yes. Ocean view, outdoor seating, and staff who treat my dog like he owns the place? Obviously. This isn’t just a brewery—it’s Cardiff’s clubhouse.

We decided to give this place a shot after hearing about its supposed ocean views, but it turns out we misunderstood--it's not beachfront, and the ocean isn't visible from their location. However, once we adjusted our expectations, we found plenty to enjoy. One highlight was their beer selection, which offered a nice variety without overwhelming choices. We particularly appreciated the option to create a flight with our top picks. The bartenders were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. As luck would have it, just as we settled in, it started pouring rain, prompting everyone else to leave. Suddenly, we found ourselves alone with the bartender, sharing a laugh over our unexpected private moment. It was a quirky twist that added to the charm of the experience of being in a "confessional"

They were definitely happening on a Friday night. Staff were friendly and on top of things. Great beer - you really can't go wrong no matter what style you prefer. If you get the munchies you can bring food in from the neighboring businesses. All in all it's definitely worth a stop.

Loved our first experience at the Lost Abbey!! So, I'm a big Hop Concept fan. Whenever the cans roll up at out stores in the OC area, I always make it a point to get a pack. So since we were in the area, made it a point to visit! Nice taproom, plenty of seats at the time of our visit (early Monday afternoon), very chill & relaxing place (you can bring your own food), kids were fine here & didn't complain :) I enjoyed a few flights (lots of choices!) & also bought a 6 mixed IPA pack to-go! After I checked my online receipt, there was an error (charged 2 full pours instead of the tasters...tried calling their number but only got voicemail so I'll try sending an email). Aside of that error (and I hope they can right that little wrong), love love love the brews & location! Cheers!

Great brewery right next to The Waverly and Seaside Market in Cardiff. Clean great brews, cool church-like interior and seating. Bartenders were super kind and helpful choosing the IPAs. Will definitely be back!

It’s a great spot for a beer. They were out of cider at the moment so no GF options available for some people in my party. It’s located in a corner of a strip mall so I don’t know if I would have found this place by just driving by. The GM working was super passionate and great. She made the whole experience amazing.
