A very diverse and nice experience; the museum holds different themed exhibitions. Tween’s friendly with some interactive displays of art. I liked the children program where you can subscribe your child for being a member and even can have their reviews of the works displayed with I believe is a very smart move from the curators of the museum.

A truly world class museum within walking distance from the station. I was very fortunate to be able to see 5000 Years of Asian ceramic from the Anders collection. Highly recommended when you are in Groningen (which is of course a truly gorgeous city)

This museum is very fun and sparks creativity! It is just big enough to feel like you've seen enough, but not too big that you get very tired before having seen the entire collection. The temporary Dream house exhibition was definitely the most fun part, but the permanent collections are also very inspired. Definitely worth the visit, especially with a student ticket (only 10 euros)

The new exhibition is very good, the collection of Frans.Haks. Finally got rid of the German curator who has been a headache for the past few years. I hope the new curator will arrange more good art exhibitions. Looking forward to it

Decent with a museum pass, but not really worth the full price. Too much space is currently dedicated to children's art—it's even more niche than standard contemporary art. I did like that the old artworks are displayed in very modern interiors or alongside contemporary art—the contrast is stunning.

A hidden gem in Groningen, open free to public. Best to visit in the summer to enjoy the flower, rose blooms and green fence and berceaus. The sundial gate dates back to 1731. Around July there is Dichters in de Prinsentuin which is an annual poetry festival in the garden

If you like gardens, this is beautiful one to visit in the city center. Best time would be spring as it would be more pleasant and green Be aware it is a small garden, you would need max of 30 min to explore it

A beautiful landscape enclosed garden. It was nice. Total time here was just a few minutes though, as the garden is not too large. If you are short on time, you can feel ok about not making the visit (though it is close to other landmark sites). A nice respite, which I guess is its intent.

Interesting museum but quite small and empty than expected. Floor 0 for ticket booth, floor 1 for monthly exhibition, floor 2 for the actual museum theme - university of groningen. Student can get discount or even free entry. Our journey here is a useful way to cool down from the summer heat in groningen.

The museum is rather small (40min. visit was enough). It's a bit boring with small children. Not much interactive. For adults - educational. The museum is small, but a couple of things surprised everyone, for example, the anatomical theater "Enschede kamer".

I love the birds! See my video: you can see the colour of the feathers change with lighting and your point. And the colours just WOW! amazed me.

The entrance areas are somewhat artistic and related to modern art, while the top floor offers an incredible experience. It’s a unique experience, and definitely worth visiting for both the experience and the information you can gain.

Pretty nice museum, i loved the 'Time will tell' exhibition a lot, there were some experiments around it in which we could participate and they were fun. It was cool to read about how our mind perceives time, and the experiments were a good way to learn more about my own time perception and reception. There were multiple collections, the one focused on Indonesia was very nice. Then they had a collection of stories in the science domain, of leading Dutch scientists and Nobel prize winners. It is a very nice place to visit for students in my opinion.

My favorite park to walk/run, people watch and traverse to get to town. It's beautifully laid out but watch the cyclists and auto roads that cut through it. Very peaceful, especially early morning when most people aren't out yet.

One of the first places that you must visit in GRONINGEN. Ideal choice for everyone want to enjoy nature , walks around the park with their dog , bike, have a coffee or even excersise . Very close to the city center with easy access with a car (there are free or paid parking sport at the sounding streets) or even better on a bike. Top!

Walk or jog from pond to pond to explore the corners in the banks that tell the history. In the 17th century, this is where the city’s defensive walls and canals were dug. In the late 19th century, people found that the time had come for something new and an English landscape-style park was laid out on the former town ramparts. The canals were transformed into ponds. The Noorderplantsoen park developed from a sand ridge into a town rampart and distinguished garden to a venue for people of all ages to gather and enjoy art and culture. Whenever the weather allows, students spend their time lounging on the grass at the pond banks and young families enjoy the playground. There is also a café/restaurant that sells any refreshments you might need and in late August, the park always functions as the backdrop for Noorderzon, a grand festival with plenty of theatre, dance and musical performances. Though with current covid times, it is unsure if this festival will still be held

A wonderful museum that introduces you to the history of computer games, graphics, and stages of development. This helps our children to be creative without limits. I am very happy with this. Also, the employee in the morning was very friendly.

Museum on comic art with a nice overview of different comic styles Currently (from March 2024) a special on 50 years of Franka. Museum located in the new Forum building in Groningen city centre on the sixth floor and can be reached by elevator on the east side of the building or by multiple escalators.

The museum is new. Everything is still in its best condition. Most of the displays are interactive, which is a good idea, so visitors can understand how manga/animation/video games are created; and of course the kids absolutely love it! The staff at the reception are also very friendly. When we were 15 minutes late, they still accepted us. Our fault. It turns out that we were the only visitors at that time. So it feels like the entire exhibition belongs to us.

Museum about storytelling in animation, strips and games, and how they are made, with some interactive installations. Not super serious and in-depth, but rather a short sight into the development of these art forms. The most interesting part, in my opinion, is the chance to see some of the hand drawn sketches and drawings of the artists on display, which you can otherwise only see digitally or printed in books. Especially the temporary exposition of Loish was worth it for me and that's also why I came to Groningen.

Great to learn something about storytelling and the development until digital art. A little bit too much text for smaller kids but they have more than enough buttons to press and keep busy while the adults browse. Small downside is that it is that the "attractions" are rather busy if there are too many people and it's hard to enjoy the full experience then.

I used to visit Forum Groningen twice a week when I was an Erasmus student at the University of Groningen. This place is absolutely dope! There’s always something going on—events, activities, or just a great vibe. It’s also a perfect spot to study or chill with friends. Easily one of the most modern and lively buildings in the city. I have so many good memories here!

You can study here, and at the top floor, there’s a restaurant and café. The library is beautiful and affordable. The exhibition area is very classy and well designed, and I recommend it. The workshops on the middle floors are also very thoughtfully arranged.

A great place for studying without paying anything. They also have movie showings which you can buy a 10x pass that's valid for 2 years. They also have seasonal exhibitions and a green screen photobooth where you can take a picture for free!

Brilliant views at the top, staircase is very narrow so try to avoid having a backpack. Might also be worth bringing earplugs unless you want to get deafened by the bell when it's rung every 30 (?) minutes

Really cool place, the stairwell is really narrow and the stairs are pretty small but that’s not a problem. Great view and also has a nice video playing in one room talking about the history of the building and area.

What a nice experience to enter this tower. The guide was very passionate to tell the history of the tower. Very well done! The stairs are quite small so make sure to not bring a lot of stuff when you want to go to the top. You can also leave it in the first stop. On the top, it is very windy but the view is breathtaking. We love it!

Amazing ancient tower! You should definitely visit it. From the inside you can see all the bells and old beams. There's a beautiful view over the city of Groningen from the top of the tower. You can visit it only with a tour guide who is included in the ticket price.

Tremendous view from the top... Be ready to take the narrow stairs...!!! Better to go little early I'm the morning so that you can go up easily or else you should wait and help the people to celebrate down or leave space to go up...!!!! The bell sound is very special and don't miss it..!! Better to carry a water bottle.... You can see entire Groningen... Just amazing views to capture from eyes (of course from camera as well!!!)

A touristic attraction in Groningen.

Nice alfresco dining area, especially during the day with good weather. We ordered pizza and beer. My partner had the tonno pizza, which tasted great. I ordered the Mungibeddu because I was looking forward to the nduja, but I couldn’t find any…I think the chef may have forgotten to add it. 😅

Great food, friendly servers and just an overall chill place for food. I often come here for lunch and to work during the day. The terrace is great and away from the main road and inside the decor is super chill and vintage. I recommend the Lebanese bread. It's my all time favorite because it's a flavour explosion 💥

We went there for lunch, the weather was ok and the terrasse is quiet not close to a street. I tested the Lebanese dish very tasty. The pizza are big if you are 2 little eaters you can share one.

Food is delicious and staffs are friendly. I had smoked salmon with bread and my friend had Club sandwich, both were very tasty!

My colleagues and I went for a meal during peak lunch hours and had a wonderful experience! The service was somewhat slow due to how busy it was but finding a table was easy. The menu offers interesting and diverse options. I ordered the Lebanese bread and the ratio of seasoned veggies, hummus and bread was great! Overall a lovely lunch spot that's extremely close to the university buildings.

All in all a lovely restaurant! It's a big positive that the restaurant is away from the streetside, as it feels like there's a relaxed atmosphere thank to no traffic passing by which is something you do have in quite a few restaurants in Groningen. There are some excellent vegan choices available on the menu, and the food is presented very nicely and tastes just as good as it looks. The staff is friendly and keeps the place well organised, and keep it nice and tidy. Some minor negatives were that the cutlery could have been cleaner, and that the order of ingredients on the menu does not represent the proportions you end up receiving. For example for the Lebanese Bread it mentions as one of the first things the cherry tomatoes, but only has two of them on it that are cut in half. It's a minor critique but it is something that could be improved in order to further enhance the experience. Overall I had a lovely time and will definitely come back again! Would definitely recommend the Lebanese Bread, and the Sweet Potato Chips with Parmesan Cheese.

The museum is not worth visiting. The ticket cost 8 euro which is very high compare to their very few exhibits. Northern Maritime Museum doesn't have any maritime experience. Outside they kept one ship which you can see before entering into the museum.Groningen has many more attractions to see except the museum. Not recommended for the foreign tourist. The lady staff was nice.

Having been to the Amsterdam scheepvaart museum this one is a bit disappointing. The staff was really friendly and the location is really nice. The building is a historic building with authentic beams. Mind your head! However if you are here in Groningen it is worth the visit!

Way larger than expected. Interesting collection, wide variety of models and artifacts. If you are a collector this place it great. If you're interested in more context you might be missing a little. All in all very entertaining and detail oriented.

My boyfriend and I visited the museum, but it was a pity that we could only see part of it, since half of the museum is under repairs to modify it. But to make up for it the staff were excellent, very communicative, friendly, they offered tea and chatted with us and told us the history of the museum and gave advice on what to visit in Groningen. They made us feel very comfortable and we visited what we could and liked.

We visited here in mid April and were expecting to see more flowers in bloom. The Chinese garden was tranquil and well groomed but the rest of the gardens looked a bit dry and devoid of any colour. We were hoping for more spring plants and colour. Overall though it’s a lovely place to spend a few hours and have a drink in the Restuarant by the lake.

An absolutely gorgeous place to visit! I highly recommend checking it out if you are around Groningen, especially if you like nature and gardens. To walk, relax, read or explore: good for all ages! The place is very big and diverse, well kept and with a nice caffe when you want to take a break.

Huge garden with different plants from different regions/ countries. You will need a good 2 hours to explore the full area. Would highly recommend it in a sunny day. There are a Chinese teahouse and a restaurant as well as a small playground for kids

The hall itself is large and spacious, with good size stage and lots of room in the pit. Backstage there are enough rooms to accommodate a pretty large company, which was nice. Ours offered a ballet performance of Swan lake. The audience was unresponsive and didn’t seem quite educated what’s proper behavior when in a concert hall. They didn’t know when to clap (or not) and how/when to show their appreciation. The performance was very good. Yet, audience’s behavior was quite cold and awkward. It seems to me as the venue doesn’t offer too many classical shows for people.

Difficult access due to renovations, very nice and helpful service, clean, good location on the city ring road. The facility is located in the Martini Plaza conference center and these are the signs to follow when leaving the A7 road.

Went to see The Rock Orchestra. Friendly staff, nice city, good vibe. The chairs were comfortable. This particular show was loud and not as balanced as it could be but a great show and a great venue.

This is a big ol' open venue, good for indoor expos with a few extra rooms to explore. But there was a guy, a vendor, smoking inside during a vintage expo. The rooms are so cavernous that he wouldn't have been easily noticed by security, but I found it very off-putting for an exhibition hall.

Terrific area, lots of routes to walk around, and gets well into the area of forestry. I've been there many times and honestly you can take many different routes. It's vast, quiet and peaceful.

A very cozy park! Lots of greenery, well-maintained walking paths, and a lake with ducks — especially beautiful to watch them in the quiet. The atmosphere is peaceful, perfect for a walk alone or with family. A great place to take a break from the city hustle and enjoy nature.

I got lost here about twice when I first got to know the park. There's definitely something to say for that, as you don't often find parks that large in cities in the Netherlands! Unlike the small and overrated Noorderplantsoen, where it feels like you're almost sitting in each other's lap when it's crowded, it's relatively easy to find a quiet spot on a sunny day to hang out. I sometimes go here when I'm running and even in summer, I often find myself being completely alone with what we call "nature" as Dutch people. However, it's never too lonely. I still feel safe - no corner is left unseen by the many dog owners walking their dog. The variety of flora is also great. In autumn I had the chance to snack some sweet chestnuts, from the three trees, that have a fair produce for their size. There are all kinds of different flowers, trees, fungi and moss... Lots of moss! I love this park!!!

I liked this camping. Friendly staff who were ready to check me in even though I arrived pretty late in the evening. Secure charging of electronic devices at the reception is also a nice bonus.

Amazing, big park with a lot of walking paths along the nature. You can find a restaurant, camping and even a small zoo here. Its big enough not to be crowded on most days.

I like the place because there are all kind of trampolines to do all sorts of tricks on them. And they also have music playing while you jump, which is fun. it is a little bit cold, but for that you have blankets :)

It's a decent trampoline park. I've been there twice and there's barely anyone there (which, as a gymnast, is good, because it's never fun to have a bunch of kids running under you). Especially recommend going on a weekday after 6pm. Perfectly empty. It's really dark, maybe a bit cold, but they play good music and the staff is really nice. They also do a student discount :) can recommend

Liked my stay here. Entrance price is discussable, should be a bit longer than just an hour. The trampolines are setup nice but they are not really good, they are way to soft to do some good high jumps but for most children this won't be a problem.

The kids had a lot of fun. It is a quite big space with various sections, and plenty of tables to sit and relax.

Deeply Disappointed by the Handling of a Serious Incident We have been loyal customers of Monkey Town for years, but after today, we will never return. My daughter was bullied and subjected to racial discrimination while playing near the big slide. She was pushed to the ground, pinned down, and later elbowed in the back, causing her to hit her head. While crying, she overheard one of the girls say they targeted her “because she is Chinese”. After hearing this from our daughter, we approached the girl involved to ask what had happened. However, our daughter, still shaken, ran away, and the girl took the opportunity to do the same. As my husband turned to call our daughter back, the girl ran further, actively avoiding us. At this moment, my husband made a silly mistake, he also called the girl to come back and talked to her in English that she shouldn't run away from the conversation. Then, another woman suddenly stepped in and, rather than helping to clarify the situation, immediately confronted my husband, accusing him of shouting at a child. She then took hold of the girl, asked her what had happened, and, without hesitation, turned to us and stated that the girl “only bumped into” our daughter and said nothing more. This time, she wasn’t just physically hurt—she was singled out, bullied, and told it was because of who she is. And that pain goes far beyond a playground injury. As parents, nothing hurts more than seeing your child in tears, not just from being pushed down but from realizing that some see her as “less than” simply because of where she comes from. It is a pain that lingers, not just for her but for us as a family. Because deep down, we know that this will not be the last time. We know that, no matter how much we try to shield her, my daughter—and many children like her—will face moments where they are made to feel like outsiders in a place they call home. What are we supposed to do? Do we just tell our children to accept it? Do we pretend it doesn’t hurt? Or should we, as some have said, simply “go back to where we came from”? Is this what our future holds? We don’t have easy answers, but what we do know is that every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and included—on the playground, in school, and in society. That should not be too much to ask. And my husband, of course, should learn the lesson, to hold his bad temper—to be patient, strategic, soft-spoken, and endlessly accommodating. Nice playground with average prices. Entrance fee is 9.5 euro. We waited for fries for an hour. A lot of people and we run after our child as he coul be lost in those labirints

Its a fine playground for kids. Its quite small and has some maze like structures that can make it hard for kids to find their way out. Otherwise its clean and well organized.

Great place to bring the kids to get rid of some excess energy on a Saturday afternoon. There are numerous slides, objects to climb on and always plenty of other kids to have fun with. The free fast WiFi and friendliness of the personnel is also very pleasant. Tip: buy the 2l of lemonade - you will need it!

Nice place, looking good and clean! However, the same issue as with most these businesses, offering a visual variety of chemical/sugary stuff with pretty much nothing healthy in the sight of a kid is just irresponsible these days - in times whew it’s clear that all these things cause so many diseases those should be banned in such quantities.

Great place for kids. Not too expensive. You only pay for the entrance of kids. You can host a party. They have free wifi, a well assorted snack bar. There is also lots of parking space for bikes, cars and you can also get there by bus. Pro Tips: - socks are a requirement - wear clothes that are not too hot - for preschoolers and toddlers too - fathers can change baby in mens room

Love it, but... Please. Get robot cleaners. Second. On warm days. Get more security staff. When people smoke (even cannabis) in children areas, they keep getting warned to no effect. When people consume (strong) alcohol, they're told to stop continuously. Or misbehave in any way. Ruins the atmosphere. I left early for the first time in 10 years. The municipality does nothing about the unsafe situations the traffic causes. Even parking on cemetary parking spots or inside a bloody bike tunnel. I felt unsafe from men disrespecting women, so much so they don't grant women space to pass them, or just dive wherever women are swimming, which really hurt.

Best to come with bike or bus, because of you can't park in a spot you'll be fined. Pool is real nice for kids and adults. A good spot to cool down and have fun.

It's a really nice outdoor pool in Groningen and I think also the only one. They have a large area to sit at, but I do recommend bringing a blanket as it's just on the grass. You can also sit at the stands and there are some chairs but it might be occupied. The various diving boards are really nice if you are with people who want to jump of different heights, or if you want to jump together. The slide is a bit underwhelming and got a lot of sudden turns which isn't that pleasant but at least there's a slide. The food is rather expensive though, but for food at a pool it's a regular price.

Very nice big pool the water was a refreshing cold compared to the warm heat of the day there are plenty of activities a water slide and a small floatable waterpark for young children it was easy to find has only a few spots to park so would recommend to travel a different way expect it to be crowded on sunny days even though I don't speak Dutch I still could get in and this didn't cause any problems the changing rooms are nice and clean with plenty of stalls but make sure to BRING 50C for lockers but this is not essential if you don't have any valuables plenty of sitting and areas for sunbathing

Spent the whole day here with 7 and 3 year old. Really enjoyed it. Lifeguards and other staff friendly and helpful. Was quiet for most of the day except for influx teenagers from about 1 to 3.30pm. Nice small sand play area for kids beside small kids pool. The slide was really good for older kids. Nice to be here on quiet day but on a busy day I think would be quite hectic. Overall had a Brill day here .

The lecturers are absolute professionals...they really know their stuff and are super passionate about their fields, which makes classes engaging and challenging in the best way. The teaching quality overall is fantastic, and you definitely feel like you’re learning from the best. The main campus in the city center is beautiful, with its historic buildings and a great academic vibe. However, the Zernike complex is a bit of a letdown. It’s far less charming, very modern, but kind of dull and industrial...not the most inspiring place to study.... One major downside is the food. The food courts on campus are overpriced, and the quality is pretty disappointing for the price you’re paying. It’s definitely better to bring your own lunch or grab something off-campus. But I wish it wasn't this way because I'd love to meet more classmates through lunch!!! Overall, it’s a great university with top-tier teaching and a strong reputation. There’s room for improvement in the facilities and services, but it’s definitely worth it for the education you’ll get.

The Software Engineering course at the University of Groningen is, honestly, a mess. It’s poorly structured, communication lacking, our TA didn't have a clue what was going on. What’s most frustrating is that there doesn’t seem to be any place where concerns are truly taken seriously. I’ve often felt unheard as a student, which is why I’m posting here. That said, I want to be fair: the university itself is great!! Other courses in my program are fantastic! But this particular course needs serious attention and improvement.

She reserved a table before and left a message about both of us being vegans and excited to come and try the food. Had a social dinner with my summer school group here. Their mojito was refreshing and well put together. The flatbread pizza was enjoyable to eat, very light and crispy with great flavors. I find the cold noodle with watermelon quite bizarre but it somehow made sense a little. The table with square holes was not very functional but we worked it out. We had a blast.

It seems like the TrainMore in Groningen was the only one left behind. I see many of my friends posting about their TrainMore gyms in Amsterdam, and they look amazing, modern, well-maintained, and renovated. But the Groningen location is in terrible shape. It’s rundown, falling apart, and clearly neglected. No one seems to care. If they’re not going to invest in upgrading the gym, I think it’s only fair for them to lower the price. After all, we’re not training in a high-quality gym like the ones in Amsterdam.

A fine gym. Day pass is a very easy to acquire and the introduction is clear and concise. Lockers and showers are well-kept and so are the machines around the gym. Atmosphere is relaxed and friendly too.

I've had a great first experience, so I decided to subscribe. Other members have been kind and approachable so I feel comfortable working out here. The gym has two floors and there's a great variety of machines and equipment, and it's easy to find a time that works for you since the opening times are quite long. The restrooms are clean and there is sufficient locker space (in the female restrooms at least). My new favourite cinema in Groningen. There's barely any people, great movies, decent seats and affordable-ish pricing. They've got a student .discount as well! I think that ticks all the boxes? No 4D IMAX Dolby sound 8.0, bells an whistles tech. Just plain old good quality ambiance in a clean setting. Toilets, they've got them. Even a little café area for you to wait for your date while reading a book. One drawback is that whenever I go to watch a movie there, I always come out wanting to see another one.
