National forest
Alice Holt Forest offers a variety of well-marked trails suitable for walking and cycling, with attractions like the "Superworm" trail to keep kids entertained. The forest features playgrounds along the routes, making it ideal for families. Visitors can enjoy biking, Go Ape adventures, and picnics in designated areas. While there are paid parking facilities, it's recommended to bring a picnic due to slightly pricey cafeteria options.
Fantastic place to walk your dog (s). There are several different trails to follow they all differ in length and skill whether you are walking or cycling. Highly recommend the café you are able to take your dog in with you which is great if you're alone and in need of a coffee. There is even a dog washing station if needed. If you own a spaniel it is needed... There are benches and picnic tables dotted around if you're in need of a rest or love to have a picnic in beautiful surroundings. There's plenty to keep children happy with walks and adventures and amazing playgrounds. Definitely worth a visit you will find amazing things to do and learn.

All the bins have been removed… Why would you take the cafe bins away??? This beautiful forest is now becoming littered with rubbish from the cafe, picnics and dog waste because people aren’t able to dispose of it easily. Blame irresponsible people but is it not irresponsible to charge memberships, parking fees, provide a cafe and food, provide picnic benches around the forest and not provide a means for people to dispose of their rubbish? People have given up and rubbish is scattered everywhere on tables outside, down the trails and around the one “forgotten” dog bin which now acts as a dumping ground for all rubbish. Please put the bins back and more of them before the good weather returns, the volume of visitors increase and it gets so much worse 😢. A cafe trolley sitting outside isn’t going to cut it peak season if it doesn’t in winter.

Great place to spend the weekend with kids. It was really busy on Saturday noon. Parking was almost full but they got an overflow parking space as well. Lovely trails. Make sure you grab a ball for the ball in a maze puzzle you're gonna find in every trail. Parking is a bit expensive. Go ape inside the park is a nice one with net adventure for kids. Kids were happy to grab the yo yo bear for free (might be some promotion). There's no litter bin as the park is a litter bin free one i guess. Overall a great experience!!

We had a fantastic family day !! It’s was hot day like 29-30 degrees. They have got plenty of tree shade. It was ok for 2hours bike trip! My little on is 2.5years , she loves the trip and all of play ground. Specially, the marble run!! This is a great place. She absolutely loved it. Car parking 🅿️ price was 5hours for about £15! I think it is reasonable price (membership available free car parking ) and the wooden marble is £8 I do recommend to buy one , if you have little one! They will love it 😍 we will come back !!

This is a fantastic forest to explore. There are many trails you can take to enjoy the great outdoors. We loved The Gruffalo Trail seeing all the sculptures. It’s not a very long trail so perfect for little ones. We also tried disc golf for the first time which was good fun, although we weren’t very good at it. You throw a frisbee towards a chain net on a pole, 9 of those in total make up the course. Each one tells you how many throws you should aim to get it in. It’s £3.50 for each disc hire & you are given a score sheet & pencil to mark your progress. The cafe was not open when we visited but they had a double decker bus selling hot drinks, cold drinks & food items to keep you going. Toilets on site. Very dog friendly. Go ape on also on site & play areas for the kids. Will be back to try some other trails in the near future.
The F — Google review
We enjoy taking our 2 year old son to Alice Holt to do the Gruffalo/Stickman trail and play on the different playgrounds along the way. The walk alone would probably be about 45 minutes at a minimum but longer with children and if your stopping to enjoy the activities. Plenty of parking but it is expensive. They have a cafe, toilets, dog wash and a go ape here too. Suitable for bike riders and dog walkers.
Leanne C — Google review
A bit out of the way for us but pleasant for walks and cycling. On site cycle hire too. Other options too such as go ape.
Naveed S — Google review
Lots of fun to return here after 30+ years. We had lovely weather for our visit. There's a small cafe and gift shop also. The Gruffalo trail was really good and easily walkable with a hard packed surface for most of it. 🌲

Waverley Abbey, the remains of an 1128 Cistercian abbey, is located just a few miles outside the town down Waverley Lane. The ruins are a popular spot and have even been used as a movie set for films like Gladiator and Harry Potter. Visitors can explore the vaults, columns, and walls of this historic site while learning about its history through various information points. Additionally, there are WW2 artifacts to be found in the area.
Nice little place to come and learn some history Waverley Church also a English Heritage site. Ruins from Church, including Monk Dormitories, Monks Refectory and Lays Men West Wing. The Park is nice too and there's a nice Cafe on-site. Great thing to come and see if you got a spare hour or or two.
Jam J — Google review
A free location to take a pleasant walk along the side a large lake and look at the Abbey ruins . There is a cafe now open in the big house opposite the lake . Cross over the bridge. The cafe offers some nice views on the patio of the Abbey and countryside surrounding it. The Abbey itself is little more than a ruin but enough left to be interesting.
Rospico 1 — Google review
Great historical place, but for wheelchair users do not follow signs for Waverley Abbey, follow the signs for Historical ruin. Confusingly there is Waverley Abbey /venue private. Waverley Abbey ruin is owned by English Heritage but not signposted very well. There are 2 gates that are closed, not locked, on the grass route to the ruin. If you arrive at the private venue, there is no access to the ruin for wheelchair users, due to a kissing gate and main gate padlocked.
Kerr C — Google review
Definitely a recommendation if you’re in Farnham. The ruins of the abbey are scattered and some parts more in tact than others, but overall impressive and interesting. The visualisations of how it looked like helpful. And for movie lovers an excellent place, certainly if combined with the Bourne Woods where the opening scene of the gladiator was filmed. The house is also beautiful.
Bart V — Google review
Arrived here on a warm late september day and it wasn't a disappointment. Parking was easy in the small car park and a five minute walk down a level path through two kissing gates led me to this glorious, historical landmark (the very first monastery in the UK). Built in the 12th century, the ruins offer a large tranquil space and plenty of birds, dragonflies, ladybugs and geese although the geese are mainly on the water (the site is next to the river Wey), their presence adds an ethereal feeling. There are stories of ghost sightings and strange noises, both of which I experienced here but it wasn’t uncomfortable, just a unique and pleasant experience. Nearby there’s a large house offering a cafe in the most beautiful setting. Such a peaceful comfort so needed in hectic times. A soft drink cost £3.25 and I sat in the gardens overlooking the ruin. I imagine it’s very popular in the summer months but the house is next to the ruin and offers more parking and an overflow car park. I highly recommend this ruin and the house. There are numerous opportunities for photographers to capture the still enigmatic buildings and wildlife. I’d definitely return!

An abso beautiful place with an incredible ruin here, a lot of history and a fantastic location for some food at the cafe or for a picnic. Amazing for history and lovers of all things old.

Specialty Museums
The Rural Life Living Museum in Surrey is an open-air museum that offers a glimpse into the past with its collection of over 40,000 artifacts related to village life. Visitors can explore various buildings and see historic farming implements and demonstrations, as well as ride on a light railway. This museum is particularly popular among families with children due to its child-friendly environment. Additionally, the museum also allows visitors to bring their dogs along for the visit - a rare opportunity amongst museums.
First of all, what a beautiful slice of history over the ages. There is so much to see ranging from all around the local areas. Being a Haslemere native, it was really lovely to see parts of the museum that referenced where I'm from, and the surrounds. The items in the museum are relevant to so very many areas of life through time, too - from agriculture, to veterinary medicine, human medicine, war etc. Whatever you're personally interested in, there's something that covers that. You can see the care that has gone into this delightful collection of life over history. I can't believe that the little village hall next to the tiny chapel still has that unmistakable smell! I love the stories of how various buildings were moved to their new home at the Rural Life Living Museum, seen on the various signs and placards around the museum. There really is so very much to read and look at - myself and my partner were at the museum from 11:30 until closing (4pm) and we'd only just squeezed everything in. Our visit included lunch at the café, which was really lovely. Ideal portion sizes for the price - smoked salmon can be a real hit and miss for me, but they made it work in the sandwich I had! My partner even happily remarked that he was pleased with the large chunks of chicken in his sandwich. All of the staff throughout the museum were lovely and very knowledgeable about the various items in the collection. Overall, I seriously encourage people to come and visit this wonderful place. I had my reservations at first, as I'm not really hugely into history, but it was wonderful to see what life was like back in the day. Please, please visit and/or contribute to their fundraiser before we lose this incredible place!

You don't have to be a huge history enthusiast to visit this amazing place located in Tilford near Farnham. The Rural Life Living Museum formerly known as the Old Kiln Agricultural Museum and the Rural Life Centre, it is an open-air museum of country life run by the Old Kiln Museum Trust. It covers over 10 acres of field, woodland and barns, and collects and preserves objects associated with farming and goods used by local craftsmen between 1750 and 1960. There is also an arboretum with over one hundred species of trees. The museum displays farming through the seasons, local hop growing, tools and crafts allied to country industries and needs. The social history of village life from the 19th century is displayed covering school life, domestic work, period shops and trades. There is a working iron furnace and a woodyard, both run by the volunteers. It also hosts the narrow gauge Old Kiln Light Railway and a Blacksmith's forge. I spent almost the whole day here. There are places to shelter when it rains, a picnic area for lunch, kids playground and secluded benches to take a break. The Market Garden Café serves a variety of hot and cold food and there is always tea and cake to finish off a great day out! I must have takeno over 300 photos and videos, but unfortunately I can't put them all in one review, so you'll have to go there and see for yourself how amazing this place is.

I took my toddler and baby to the Fire Engine rally and we had a brilliant day out. The day was well-run, well advertised and a big hit with my toddler. The facilities were great, we loved the little book library too and each area of the museum had something to captivate my toddler which made the whole day go smoothly. The receptionist was friendly, eager to help answer questions and make our day a pleasure. The activities at the rally were well thought out and educational. A great family outing!

It's not the largest of the open-air museums I have seen, but still, there was plenty to do a see. Good place to visit with kids and also it's very dog friendly. We spent here 2.5 hours here at a slow pace.
Gr3at W — Google review
It was ok, great for children. Probably a fairly quiet day. May be better when they have more equipment running.

Loved it, will go back again. Went on land-rover day, so more to see. The museum is set in lovely woods with many different trees. Lots to see and touch for my 3 year old grandson who loves to be outside he really liked the victorian school room, with a piano he could play and victorian toys he could use and safe for him to run around. Defiantly recommended.

Excellent. Spent 2.5 hours including lunch which was lovely. Massive sandwhiches with salad. Clean toilet facilities. Lots to see and a relaxed atmosphere. The information boards are detailed and lots of variety. I enjoyed the gypsy caravans, Polish area and school the most. Easy parking and very reasonable ticket prices meaning I would definitely return for another visit.

Wonderful place for a day out. Brings back so many memories for all ages. Have been bring my kids here for years. And their grandparents. And any visitors we have. Have lovely events throughout the year. To think we almost lost this treasure of a place due to funds is unthinkable. There really is something for everyone.

Nature & Parks
Farnham Park is a sprawling 320-acre green space offering rolling grasslands, sports fields, walking paths, and play areas. The park is surrounded by natural attractions such as Alice Holt Forest, Rowhills Nature Reserve, Frensham Ponds, and Bourne Woods. Visitors can explore the ruins of the 12th century Farnham Castle and enjoy leisurely strolls along wooded paths with opportunities for picnics and den building.
I have visited this park regularly for the last 10 years. It was my labrador's favourite place until the day she left us at 17years of age. My children also enjoyed this park in their earlier years and I now enjoy the great walk for fitness. The cafe now has a bar also and live music at the weekends to enjoy. Always pleasant people there and responsible dog owners too.
Anita S — Google review
Such a nice, relaxing, chilled out park 🌳 and one of my favourites in and around the Hampshire area with so many walking paths, a kids park including a mini zip line and slides 🛝. There is also a Bar and Pizza Oven 🍕 on site too and a nature walk part of the park too. I have been here a few times and will visit again.
Jam J — Google review
Superb wooden fort and bridges play park for kids 4 to 10yrs old. For those older there's a woodland trees area next to the park with well trodden routes to run along, so if the kids are feeling like they wanna be the Lost Boys from Peter Pan or The Goonies then this park is one if the best for miles. Dad's and Mum's might like the circular hammock if you don't mind being selfish and not letting anyone else on it.
Chris P — Google review
This is a really lovely park. There's plenty of paths to get around the entire area of the park and there's also many children's playgrounds dotted around. You can get some great views of all around if you pick the right day. There are also some lovely little streams and the entire park itself was very clean.

Farnham Castle, located on the Surrey/Hampshire border, is a renowned wedding venue with multiple awards to its name. The historic buildings and well-maintained grounds provide a picturesque backdrop for weddings and can accommodate up to 200 guests. With 33 onsite bedrooms, it offers convenience for guests to stay and enjoy the celebration. The venue also features beautifully decorated interior spaces in attached and separate buildings, including licensed spaces, reception rooms, and a honeymoon suite.
Apart from the wedding venue, there are three activities for the general public here. The castle keep (oldest part) is under repairs (fall 2024j. There’s a very good free exhibit about the history of the site open to the public most days. On Wednesday afternoons (2-4pm) you can take a guided tour of the Bishop’s palace. My tour guide was really knowledgeable and clearly cared a lot about the site and its history. I highly recommend the tour.
Erika P — Google review
Came to visit here to see if you could buy any tickets as was in the local area but there was no ticketing information, it may only be available and accessible on private hire. You can see some of the Castle from outside but would have loved to go in! Did take a few pics 📸 from outside
Jam J — Google review
When I saw there was a castle I got super excited, nothing like a bit of history to make Sunday a proper funday! Walking up those stairs, I was buzzing with anticipation. But talk about a letdown. Turns out it’s just a wedding venue and you can’t actually see any of the castle itself. When I asked if there was anything at all the public could see, I got hit with more disappointment, apparently “The Keep” is the only bit normally open to visitors, but it’s been closed for 10 months for maintenance or some malarkey like that. Seriously, when did historic sites in the UK become such blatant money machines?
Tom T — Google review
It is such a nice castle but unfortunately it is closed and it is a private property only for weddings
Klaudia K — Google review
One of the beautiful English Heritage in Farnham to visit. Carpark and visit was free or charge. It take less than half an hour to visit. Staff were so attentive and friendly and happy to explain the place to you at the entrance. We visited on a Sunday and there was a Wedding Event in their Hotel which was nice to see people dressed up and few of them came on top of the castle to take photos. The only recommendation I would have is for their public toilets, with no hand wash filled up unfortunately was a put off thing.
Elli — Google review
Farnham Castle is a dream wedding venue and as a wedding photographer, a dream to photograph. With so many beautiful locations for amazing photo opportunities, It is a fairytale venue. The staff are great and very accommodating to ensure the wedding couple were looked after. They gave us private access to the top of the castle and The bride and groom and I witnessed a double rainbow at sunset, from on top of the castle keep. It was such an incredible moment at such a beautiful place and is very special memory for the newlyweds and as a romantic and cinematic wedding photographer, ticked a bucket list moment for me. Farnham castle is one of my favourite venues and I am very excited to be photographing more weddings here soon. Jennifer West Photography.

Came here on retreat with our Year 11s. Lovely place, lovely people, lovely grounds. And nice to wander around and find nooks and crannies that hide a Norman Chapel, beautiful plaster work, many many candles and really good food. And the daffodils are pretty good as well.

History Museums
The Museum of Farnham, located in a beautiful Grade listed Georgian town house that dates back to 1718, is a popular attraction in the town. This museum offers a wide range of fascinating artifacts and exhibits, such as a mammoth's tusk and a skull cap worn by Charles during his time at Vernon House (now Farnham Library), when he was on his way to trial and execution. Visitors can explore the history and heritage of the area through these unique items.
The front is being refurbished so you access via the side door through the garden. Absolutely wonderful museum with fantasticly knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Cute small shop too. Really well put together, something for everyone.

A beautiful and interesting museum with lovely, friendly staff! There is wheelchair access from an entrance to the right of the main entrance. There are ramps down to the garden. The outbuilding is accessible and there is a wheelchair-accessible toilet (larger than average, but not a Changing Places one)

A hidden gem! If not because of the brown sign across the road, I wouldn’t have noticed there is such a beautiful and educational museum behind the scaffolding. The staff were all so wonderful, happy for a chat and can tell us so much about the historic building as well as the town. Amazingly there is a mammoth tusk on display in the museum. There are activity bags for children to play anywhere in a quiet place! My two kids had the best museum tea party ever. If we weren’t off somewhere, we would happily stay for longer. What a wonderful place to spend time! It’s also free to visit.
Noelle N — Google review
A lovely free museum for Farnham's history with lovely staff upon greeting, and very accessible from the town. It was the icing on the cake after a day exploring Waverley Abbey ruins, Farnham Castle Keep, and wandering the town. The museum nicely portrays aspects from all these sites and more on two floors in a picturesque Georgian townhouse so it was good to put them in more context and see further artefacts! There is also a very scenic garden to explore adding to the whole experience - It is 100% worth a visit for anyone exploring Farnham for the day!
JDHrpr — Google review
I wandered in on a free day which was probably good. Don't get me wrong, I love a good museum, even little ones, but was a little confused at what the point of this museum was, what story it was trying to tell, and why it should interest me. There was a school group going through at the same time as me and I listened in a bit because that part was wonderful and engaging. However walking through myself I lacked context and often found myself wondering why some of the objects were there.

Go Ape Alice Holt is an adventure activity venue where visitors can explore the forest canopy through a treetop rope course. It's a great day out for families with older children, offering treetop adventures and challenges suitable for different age groups. The friendly instructors provide guidance and ensure safety throughout the experience. The forest setting provides protection from windy weather, allowing for an enjoyable time in the trees.
This was on my partners 'hit list' for the kids to do. Glad we took the time to visit. Our children loved it and we were given the option for them to try the smaller course and pay a little extra to move on to the harder course. This was perfect and they both moved in with confidence. The staff were very good, especially the young man who served us at the kiosk.

A wonderful place for everyone to enjoy something nice, including pets. I will highly recommend this place for a weekend trip. Book online in advance if you're interested in GoApe. Car parking was full when we visited, but after 10 minutes of searching around we could find a spot. I recommend people to go in the morning. We will visit again. Thanks.

It was so much fun and my eldest daughter got to go on adventure plus while my youngest and I went on adventure. Definitely would recommend for beginners. Staff as ever were amazing and very helpful given we were 30 minutes late.
Nadia S — Google review
There are 5 stations in total, very long! Good if you want a big challenge in comparison to other smaller branches. It takes a lot of stamina to do this and upper body strength. Good fun especially the first three stations, but after that got extremely tired and no way to stop. Staff was there at first to assist then for a long while didn't see any staff at all which was scary in case something happened there was no way to ask for help or get down. There was only water at two stations which is nowhere near sufficient, this is thirsty work and there needs to be regular water available. Signage could also be better as initially spent ages walking around to find where to enter for our booking.
Elenasabrina — Google review
Always a great time doing Go Ape and this location is great for the Treetop Adventure with a 4 year old. Would always recommend to anyone looking for something fun to do with a school age child to have a go.
Tom C — Google review
Definitely need a head for heights and a certain level of fitness and upper body strength! I've done Go Ape before at Moors Valley Country Park and I would say this one is harder! (or is it because I'm older 🤔) Took us about 2.5 hours and that was at a slow pace with no one in front. Wear good shows and gloves are a good idea! Love the zip lines although prepare for a backwards landing being dragged along the floor. It seems impossible to stay facing forwards 😅
Claire B — Google review
Booking online was quick and simple. Plenty of information with the email confirmation. Son and husband did the course together- they were very quickly geared up and shown a simple yet thorough safety demo and before I knew it they were on their way! It was just the right amount of fear and fun for my 7 year old and ideal that my husband was able to go on with him. Great way to spend some quality time together. We visited today with my 6 and 8 year old. We completed the tree top adventure. We absolutely love the whole experience but halfway around did get a little bit stuck as my little one lost confidence. Luke, one of the instructors, was absolutely fantastic. He came to rescue us promptly and gave us our confidence back as a result we were able to stay calm and complete our adventure. Being presented with a certificate at the end was the cherry on the top. It was an absolutely brilliant experience with a huge thank you to Luke further support he gave.

Farnham Castle Keep is a 12th-century fortress with well-preserved walls and earthworks. It offers free access to a history exhibition and gardens, making it an ideal destination for history enthusiasts. The castle itself is available for booking as a wedding and events venue, while the historic Keep can be visited for free from February to Christmas Eve. Visitors can explore the castle on weekdays from 9am-5pm and weekends from 10am-4pm.
What a fantastic castle and exhibition room! And all absolutely free! Wonderful ruins of a historically famous castle, beautifully preserved. Very informative with information dotted around. The exhibition centre is exceptional and well worth visiting. Me and the kids loved this and will return on a Wednesday for the guided tour of the Bishops rooms. Easy 5 stars.

We did a day trip from London to see the castle and town. Unfortunately, the castle was closed for "routine maintenance." We were only able to see a few spots from outside. The town was cute, though. Several nice small shops and pubs.
Tammy N — Google review
Access to the keep is still restricted but you can walk around the castle grounds which are really well maintained.

Beautiful place to host a wedding event! Attended for family and I was very impressed by the attention to detail and professionalism of the staff. The food portions on the day were ample and delicious for a 3 course meal of say a top brand restaurant. That combined with it being a sunny day made for (I’m sure) a memorable day for my cousin and his husband!

I've been visiting a lot of castles as I make my way through England and I really enjoyed this one! I thought all the signs were super helpful and gave the perfect amount of information. The archaeological digs were super cool, the grounds are beautiful, and the little museum has a super interesting video that shows the different stages of build. Definitely worth a visit and I'm hoping to make it back to take the Wednesday tour of the house as well.

Nice history. Bishops safe 'Motel' on journey to London. Ruins better than expected. Sadly most part of surrounding buildings is open only on Wednesday's 2pm-4pm. Still recommend to visit
TiC — Google review
Lovely well kept place to visit, free entry and lots of parking space. You will probably only spend an hour or so here looking around but it's still worth a trip. There is a park with a great playground nearby if you want to have a picnic or a linger visit
Kalindi F — Google review
It's free, so you can't complain at the price, but it's also well worth a visit. Very interesting to see the way it was built, not your traditional castle build. Farnham is a lovely little town to wander around in after aswell

Nestled in the charming town of Farnham, Bourne Wood is a delightful escape into nature that beckons both locals and visitors alike. This lush woodland area is not only perfect for leisurely strolls but also boasts a rich cinematic history, having served as a backdrop for iconic films like Gladiator and Harry Potter. Surrounded by other stunning green spaces such as Farnham Park and Alice Holt Forest, it’s an ideal spot to unwind amidst nature's beauty.
Peaceful and beautiful. I arrived after the movie makers had been filming Lord of the Rings. An absolutely stunning place. Highly recommended visiting.
Alexia C — Google review
Nice wooded area with a large path, which has also been used in multiple films. It’s dog friendly and has a small incline up a light hill. The minus one star is for the car park - it’s pretty small so can get quite busy on the weekends, with occasional difficulty turning around if it is indeed full.
Becky T — Google review
I think there are other car parks but the one I went to was £1 for 2 hours, which was fine. It's a lovely woodland, hillside walk, quite a few paths, dirt and paved. Everyone I have bumped into has been really friendly. The views are 👌 I went back again the next day, especially because alot of the other surrounding walks, hills etc, are really really sandy but bourne woods is great. Dogs pop out of nowhere sometimes, and I have a reactive pitksy, and two other dogs, but actually the other walkers are very polite and offer to put the lead on their dogs etc, it's great for socializing the pitksy, lots of positive interactions for him. The only reason it has four stars is that there isn't a water source in the woods. I heard a small stream but it was behind a fence, and my dogs love a drink and a splash around.
Jordon M — Google review
Nice place for a Sunday walk. Paid parking is available. We had the opportunity to see a picture set for the film in the middle of the forest. Beautiful autumn frames

Great woods to walk around, so quiet if no one else is there. Famous movie filming locations, Gladiator, Band of Brothers, children of men, marvel movies etc

Stunning walk. Nice variety of trails that you can follow, peaceful and a great place all round. Me and my friend managed to get into the car park here, which is free, another pro. Will be back

Great place to walk the dogs, quiet and peaceful, off and on path routes available. Parking is limited and you now have to pay but overall worth visiting.

Beautiful walk. Lovely different trails that you can follow, nice and quiet, and a great place to take your doggo! We managed to get into the car park here, which turns out to be free so that's even better. Shall visit again:)

Nestled in a picturesque rural setting, The Duke of Cambridge is a charming pub that perfectly blends modern comforts with traditional warmth. With its expansive garden featuring a delightful kids' play area and inviting patio, it’s an ideal spot for families to unwind. Inside, cozy fires create a welcoming atmosphere during the colder months. This pub takes pride in its commitment to the local community by sourcing ingredients from nearby farms, ensuring fresh seasonal dishes that celebrate regional flavors.
Wonderful evening, we were staying in a Lodge next door and came here for my husbands 50th. From the moment we stepped inside we were made to feel extremely welcome. Staff were attentive throughout our meal, checking everything was to our liking. We had the steak which was cooked perfectly and had a lovely char grilled flavour. We then had the crumble and a banoffee sundae for our desserts and they were just delicious. I would highly recommend this place, Freddy was great at his job too. Thank you all for making it a perfect evening. If we lived closer we would be regulars here.

First time visiting, celebrating a birthday. Staff were welcoming and pleasant. The food was good, although I had to ask for a sauce for the lovely pie as it was quite dry. Very surprised as it was a Monday and quite quiet that the service was VERY slow. We were not in a rush, but it could have been an issue, particularly if there had been more people. We will definitely go back soon and give it another try.

Shout out to our waitress Mia who was extremely welcoming and attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met. Food was delicious, a little pricey, but worth it. Great outdoor area with a good vibe. Highly recommend.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at The Duke of Cambridge in Tilford! The staff were incredibly warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. Their genuine hospitality truly elevated the visit. The food was nothing short of spectacular—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, with a menu that perfectly balances classic pub fare with creative twists. The atmosphere is the ideal blend of cozy and vibrant, with charming decor and a welcoming vibe that makes you want to linger. Whether you're popping in for a pint or a full meal, this place is a gem. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!

Lovely pub and great food. The steak was cooked perfectly and the nduja ketchup was excellent. The Caffè latte gelato that came with the coffee and chocolate gateau deserves a special mention too.
Duncan W — Google review
Nice venue, friendly staff and place was very busy. But the food was just ok, it was unnecessarily expensive with ridiculously small portions. Sunday roast pork belly was tiny, potatoes and the greens were cold. £21 for a bacon cheeseburger is extortionate. Best thing was the gravy and the apple tart for dessert.

Fantastic place to walk around , well managed and maintained , yet a bit of jungle :) which I like. Very relaxing place , a real forest, highly recommended to anyone visiting , close to all the amenities too

Fantastic place to walk the dog/dogs. I highly recommend Alice Holt. There are plenty of walking paths, and cycle paths for all abilities. If you are more adventurous Go Ape is also available here, for tree top fun. For children there are play parks and the Gruffalo walk which includes beautiful carved caricatures from the books. There is also a lovely cafe on site.

Great facilities, marble run is a great new addition but the cafe has gone downhill and isn't a patch on what it used to be. Terrible vegan options and eye watering prices, make sure to bring your own food. Parking is also expensive, but in line with all forestry England sites

A beautiful place to visit in a beautiful town. Unravel festival is fabulous! It was a great venue with excellent food and coffee options, very clean and well maintained toilets, plenty of seating. Even a lovely gift shop full of beautiful work by local independent artists. Worth a visit!

We went to the Market there today which is the first Saturday of each month. There were some nice stalls selling beautiful handmade knitwear, handmade jewellery, chocolates, soap lots or lovely stuff and will be probably be a good one to go back to at the beginning of December. The cafe is nice with a short but good food menu. There is ample seating in the cafe area too. Beware of the car park which is actually paid parking on a Saturday. Entrance fee for the market was £1 and under 15s are free. Dogs seem to be welcome here too.
Janine ( — Google review
Attended a matinee performance of Annie. The venue seems to be run pretty well, but it could do with some way to keep the theatre cool on warm days. They tried their best with fans but that was not really adequate and took away from the enjoyment of the hard work gone in to putting on a very good show

Visitors can indulge in picnics and refreshments while enjoying the pleasant ambiance.
Gostery Meadow is a great place for kids. It has a little play ground with swings and tracks for walk. There good fun rides and activities for kids on Farnham Carnival. On a normal summer afternoon the best part of the park is the shallow part of the river were kids can walk. Lovely place to visit in Farnham

Frensham Little Pond, managed by the National Trust and Waverley Borough Council, is a picturesque destination perfect for leisurely strolls. With its scenic trails that encircle the pond, visitors can enjoy a refreshing 45-minute walk while soaking in the natural beauty. The area boasts ample space to relax and unwind, making it an ideal spot for dog walkers and nature enthusiasts alike.
I've visited Frensham Little Pond several times, and it's a lovely spot for a peaceful walk. The landscape is quite beautiful - a mix of heathland and water, with sandy paths that wind around the pond. It's not a massive attraction, but that's part of its charm. The National Trust manages the site well, keeping it natural and unspoiled. There's a small car park, which is handy, and the paths are easy to walk. On a good day, you can see plenty of birds and maybe spot some wildlife. The pond itself is quite picturesque. In summer, it's particularly nice - the water looks calm, and there are spots where you can sit and enjoy the view. It's not crowded like some more popular nature spots, which makes it feel more special.
D S — Google review
What a gem of a place! It's like you're in another country. There's a small beach area for children to play and paddle in the pond and a cafe to buy food and drink, although you can take your own and enjoy a picnic. The ice cream looked delicious 😋. Great place for dog walking and the walk around the pond takes about 45 minutes - when you're not stopping every 5 minutes to look at the birds and wildlife
Louise C — Google review
Lovely place for a walk. Takes about 45 minutes to go around the pond. Possible to do with a buggy (beware the tree roots), but may require extra determination if it's rained recently. National Trust owned car park (free for members, charge for non-members). Small cafe with outdoor seating (some under cover, but mostly outside). Toilets available when the cafe is open. Nothing on site specifically for children (no play equipment etc). So bring your own entertainment if you're with children who aren't happy just walking in nature. Worth checking the signage upon arrival for info on whether dogs can be off leads (eg ground nesting birds). Whilst dogs and people shouldn't be in the water anyway, there may be signs regarding additional hazards such as blue algae. Single track road off the main road to access the car park. Plenty of pubs around locally if you wanted to grab lunch or dinner after your walk. Overall it's a lovely place to walk, and we regularly visit with our dog.
Selena C — Google review
Beautiful walks, good energy and a nice wee cafe with toilets. Car park is free for national trust members. There is a free smaller car park for anyone down the road a bit.

Went on a bank holiday and had a great time. Staff were super friendly, and the place was well looked after. We got sandwiches at the cafe, which were quite pricey, but ok for a treat. The lake was lovely to walk around and explore.
Gemma B — Google review
Great for a day out with little ones. The sandy shore and shallow water kept my toddler entertained for two hours, and then we had a lovely walk through the heather which wasn't too much for their little legs. We haven't really found it to be pushchair friendly though, but other than that it's great.
Daniella N — Google review
Lovely National Trust site. Easy to park and take a gentle walk around the pond.
Joanne B — Google review
Beautiful location with ample space to walk and chill. There are marked trails for people to explore along with a fair degree of beach area. Plenty of parking space available close by. No entry fee. Private golf course
Nestled in the picturesque woodlands of Farnham, Hankley Common Golf Club is a gem for golf enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Established in 1897 as a nine-hole course, it has evolved into an impressive 18-hole layout that stretches over 6,900 yards with a par of 71. This stunning inland course is surrounded by heathland and pine woods, creating an enchanting atmosphere filled with delightful aromas from the abundant flora.
Was fortunate enough to play here in February this year but the course was undergoing some maintenance. Came back and the changes that they’ve made to the bunkers and the 10th hole have been superb. Probably one of the most underrated courses I’ve ever played, it’s simply heaven. It might not be the longest course, but if you are slightly off the fairway and into the Heather, you will pay the price.

What a fabulous golf course and in amazing condition, greens were pristine and probably one of the best courses in Surrey, staff and members were friendly, food very good, only slight moan was it took nearly 5 hours to play as very busy.

Played Hankley Common today and absolutely loved it. The course was in stunning condition - true-running greens, and classic heathland charm throughout. Every hole was a joy to play. Big shoutout to the pro shop staff, who were incredibly friendly and welcoming. It really added to the overall experience. A top-quality course with top-quality service. Can’t wait to return.

Really top quality golf course and facilities. Had an amazing day here, while the weather hasn't been the best the course was still pristine. Service was friendly in the bar and the food was lovely. Everything you would want from a top course. Can't wait to return sometime.

Wow! Such a beautiful course. I know its seems like a weird thing to say but the course smells amazing! The sheer number of pine tress and heather creates the most amazing aroma as you make your way rounds. The course is really stunning, its vast but feels so private and peaceful. Greens were very quick and true and unlike most other courses I've played recently locally the fairways were beautifully green and healthy. Its always tough to rate courses in surrey as there are some many great courses but this definitely hits my top 10. Its like Woburn meets Sunningdale.

Birdworld, located in Farnham GU10 4LD, is a sprawling 26-acre park that houses a diverse range of birds from penguins to parrots and owls to ostriches. Visitors can enjoy daily events such as penguin feeding and animal encounters, as well as take a ride on the safari train. The park features attractions like the Outback Landing aviary, Owl Parliament, and Jenny Wren Farm where visitors can meet and stroke animals.
We used the Hampshire Top Attraction website to get discounted entry. It's a lovely clean attraction with a couple of cafes serving a variety of food and drink. We bought a picnic with us and there were plenty of places to stop and eat at picnic benches in the sun and shade. We didn't walk around until after lunch as our children enjoyed the new tree top adventure park so much. Even though we have young children the tree top adventure was safe for them and mostly big enough for us adults to climb up and walk upright with them, adults are also able to fit on the slides and we weren't the only ones having a go!! The birds are well cared for and we wandered around slowly, our children enjoyed looking into the exhibits and trying to find the different birds. They absolutely loved the exhibits where the birds were free roaming and flying around our heads. All in all it was a slow paced, relaxed day out enjoyed by all.
Catherine W — Google review
Nice selection of birds, so many pretty varieties that we had never seen before. The parrots and cockatoos were entertaining with their chatter and whistles. There are a couple of walk-through areas where you can get up close to the birds. The main cafe area at the entrance is nice with outdoor seating overlooking the gardens. There is another cafe/kiosk, but this was closed when we visited. They are building a new play area which looks like it's going to be quite large. We spent around 3 hours there slowly walking around. For the kids, there is a dinosaur trail. The car park is large and free. Toilets and baby change areas were clean. There is quite a large gift shop. We had a nice half day wandering around.
Paula — Google review
Larger than expected but very interesting. There are all sorts of birds and plenty to see. For those with children, there are plenty of play bits for them to play and for those without there are benches where you can sit and watch the birds. The park is accessible for wheelchair users. Visually impaired folk will definitely benefit from taking a sighted guide.
Erica ( — Google review
Good place to visit after the upgrade made for kids but could have also added play center for toddler separately. The dinosaurs were good additions. Food-wise need to have more options and for the entry price paid the experience is bit on lower end with the birds. The bird world itself has not been updated fully and they seem old n neglected. Finally the parking facilities are lacking with very small spaces considering most visitors are with toddlers and kids and are of low quality.
Rakesh G — Google review
I am disabled and cannot walk. Please see the end of the review for the only problem i had. Visited today with my wife daughter and her husband and two granddaughter's. We had a great time loads to see and do the birds are great and well displayed. The granddaughter's loved the play areas. All the staff are great. Helpfull, polite and a credit to bitdworld. on the whole it was easy to get round on a mobility class 3 mobility scooter. I have only one complaint and that there was a problem and that is with the disabled toilets it may not sound much but if you are like me on A Class 3 mobility scooter and cannot walk at all it is impossible sitting on one of those scooters and opening a door towards you. I do wish the people who designed these toilets would actually try to get in there whilst at on a large mobility scooter. It takes away your independence completely when you can't even open the door to get in. To pull a door open and hold it open while you driving is completely impossible. I really really wish that somebody would actually try it to see what I mean. Is bad enough being stuck on one of those things without having to ask a complete stranger to hold the door open for you. Please would one of your staff get hold of one of those scooters and try it.
Stephen R — Google review
New park is amazing. The kids loved the activity sheet and the dinosaur trail. Can't wait for the new play barn. Food was fresh and good. Only down side, they do not have a changing table for disabled guests, but we were told we could use the first aid one.
Emma H — Google review
A popular day out for us or even a quick stop after nursery to run off extra energy. We invested in the membership this year and have visited Birdworld very regularly to explore every nook and cranny it has to offer. The bonus features of the dinosaur trail, bird bath and adventure play have been a treat too. There are so many beautiful birds and really helpful information about them to learn and raise awareness of endangered species, as well as regular talks from the team who present it so well. The birds are well looked after and the park is so pretty with greenery, flowers, water features, bird photography and beautiful interactive displays of information. There is lots to do for all ages. The paths are wheelchair and buggy accessible and plenty of loo facilities around the park. Lots of parking space and the check-in process is simple and quick even on busy days. Even when the park is busy it doesn’t feel crowded as there’s lots of space to run around, and benches to sit on.
Jenny B — Google review
Perfect for all. Not too long to walk around (you could probably rush it in half hour) took us a couple of hours to see everything, but there's plenty of extra play areas and games to keep kids entertained. Special experiences like feeding the penguins are extra, but well worth it.
