Nature & Parks
Garden
Stoke Park is a sprawling 52-hectare park in Guildford, offering unspoiled grassland and scenic views. It boasts various attractions such as a playground, skate park, boating pond, mini-golf, and a fitness trail. The park features a recently restored Japanese garden and a fragrant rose garden. Awarded the Green Flag annually, it retains much of its 18th-century layout since being donated to Guildford in 1925.
It is a wonderful little park for children with a few facilities that we hadn't seen elsewhere. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

What a wonderful Park, with a fountain ⛲️ and a lake 🌊 had quiet a few courts aswell and a kids playground too. A lovely place no doubt on a nice sunny day but actually came here at the beginning of winter last year. Would love to go back in nicer weather when in Guildford next 😊
Jam J — Google review
Tranquil and beautiful. There’s a kids playground, mini golf course, shallow pool which was closed off on the day that I visited & a pristine Pond.
Fellan D — Google review
What a beautiful place this is to go to they even have a paddling pool for little children plenty places go & have a walk with your family & have a payment. Just please remember to a take your wish away with you or put it in one of the many bins what are in grounds.

Stock Park is a great place to visit! I had a really nice experience overall — the environment was pleasant and everything was well-maintained. Definitely worth checking out.
Rohith K — Google review
A great and large park to visit. The Japanese garden is really nice and scenic and everything seems well maintained. Can be a bit muddy but a great spot to walk around
Sen Q — Google review
Such a nice place to walk as the sun goes down. Plenty of space on the grass and benches. I notice the children's pool has metal barriers around it must times I see it (I wonder why it's out of use so much.) The huge student accommodation has added a great 6-floor block of brick in one corner. But it brings live of a different kind.
Eddie C — Google review
Stoke Park is located around 12 minutes away from Guildford High Street by walk. It is a 52 acre open park with trees on a corner, children’s park on another side with a paddling pool and model boat pond, skate boarding rink on yet another side. The Stoke park itself is open always, the children’s park may have some time slots though. The space and openness of park provides a sense of feel good and freedom. People with dogs often bring them to the park for a walk and some play. In summer it’s also a good place to have picnics and generally absorb the sunlight.

Guildford Museum, located near Guildford Castle, offers a fascinating journey through the area's history and archaeology. The museum showcases displays of local history, textiles, and artifacts dating back to prehistoric times. Visitors can learn about Guildford's connections with famous figures like Lewis Carroll and Gertrude Jekyll. The museum also hosts changing exhibitions for an ever-evolving experience. Additionally, it provides interactive learning opportunities for schools and families, making it a must-visit attraction in Guildford.
The place was closed when I visited Guildford Castle. the main grounds were accessible and free to entre. Been again recently is free and stones throw from town centre. Been there a few months later, is almost how I remembered it. Obviously there have been changes. Some of the exhibits are still the same. Opening hours are as follows: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday open from 12 until 4:30pm, last admission 4pm. Closed all other days
Sami A — Google review
Cute little museum with a lot of items from different periods to look at. Would spend more than 10-15 mins here. Got accessible toilet on the ground floor and kids area
Ev D — Google review
It is a small museum. Friendly staff with good local knowledge guided me to find the castle nearby. The display there isn't much interested to some people.
Andrew T — Google review
Lovely experience and the staff were beautiful and helpful. Also they recommended a few other historical sites. Best experience
Toba R — Google review
I was surprised by the displays in this small museum. The items take you through different periods. It's great for families. I went with my 3 year-old granddaughter, who enjoyed doing the Easter trail with me and the toys on display. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Nice place just outside of Guildford castle. It has many old age items to look into. Good place for history lovers. They have many old items like cycle, old stitching, old clothes, old bungalows in displays

Guildford Castle, originally a Norman motte-and-bailey fortress, has been reinforced several times over the centuries and served as a royal residence. The castle offers 360-degree views from the Great Tower and features a model depicting its original form. The surrounding gardens boast colorful flowerbeds and a statue of Alice Through the Looking Glass.
Guildford Castle is a lovely place to explore if you’re in town. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with great views from the top overlooking Guildford and the surrounding countryside. It’s peaceful, informative, and perfect for a short, scenic visit. Highly recommended for history lovers and casual walkers alike.

Stunning! What the beautiful scenery! Totally recommend it. Nothing inside the castle but not the rooftop. You'll see the wonderful city view.
Beny ( — Google review
Take a breather whilst shopping and take a relaxing visit the castle gardens which is situated not far from the High Street. The place is beautifully kept and the gardens are really well planted up notably with spring bulbs AND also for the summer season. I advise you not to miss both the upper and the lower levels of the grounds. The castle mound itself is a bit of a climb but well worth it for the view. The castle does open to but I've never been inside. There is a fascinating little statue as a tribute to Lewis Carol who wrote 'Alice Through The Looking Glass' very nearby when he lived here. I thoroughly recommend this little gem of a place to anyone...

Lovely place Very very Spiritual. If you want to do Meditation/ manifestation or wants to connect to the Cosmos/Nature basically 5 elements air, water, earth, sky and fire. This is the place for people seeking positivity in their life. People with Negative energy could find it a difficult place to sit for long. Chant "OUM 🕉 " this is the vibration of creation of this Universe. Thank you

A beautiful cute small (compared with large gardens/parks) garden around the historic castle. We visited for the seasonal flowers. Easy access to Guildford town centre so such a great place for a short break after lunch and dinner.

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
Guildford Cathedral, located on Stag Hill near the university campus, is a 20th-century Anglican church known for its modern design and materials. Unlike traditional cathedrals, it features plain glass windows that allow natural light to illuminate the white interior. The cathedral offers free admission and permits photography for personal use. It holds royal connections and was consecrated in the presence of the Queen.
Guildford Cathedral is a breathtaking landmark perched on Stag Hill, offering panoramic views of the surrounding town. The cathedral’s modern yet striking architecture stands out, featuring a blend of contemporary and traditional design. The interior is spacious, bright, and beautifully maintained, creating a peaceful and uplifting atmosphere for visitors. One of the highlights of Guildford Cathedral is its sense of serenity. The space is impeccably clean, well-organized, and exudes a welcoming ambiance. Whether you visit for worship, reflection, or simply to admire the structure, the calm environment adds to the experience. The cathedral is also known for its excellent acoustics, making it a popular venue for choral performances and events. Located in a convenient area, the cathedral is just a short distance from a well-stocked gift shop offering a variety of souvenirs, books, and local crafts. Visitors can easily find unique mementos to take home. Additionally, the surrounding grounds are well-kept, offering a peaceful spot to stroll or sit. Safety and accessibility are well-considered, with friendly staff available to assist. Overall, Guildford Cathedral is a must-visit for those who appreciate architecture, history, and a tranquil atmosphere. Whether you're a local or a traveler, this iconic site provides a memorable experience.

12 oct 2025. This morning travel by rail from London Waterloo at 10am to Guildford to meet up with friend for a 3 hours walking visit to Guildford. Wonderful walk up the hill from railway station. & town centre.
Muihua N — Google review
Guildford's most recognisable landmark, this modernist cathedral was designed in the 1930s by Edward Maufe, and consecrated in 1961. The imposing red brick tower is visible from much of Guildford thanks to the cathedral's elevated position at the top of Stag Hill, affording it good views over town. The cathedral's exterior is simple, but with enough detail not to appear austere. The statues on the west front are the newest feature, added in 2005. Stepping inside, I was immediately struck by how bright and spacious the cathedral felt, the large windows allowing an abundance of natural light to reach the building's interior. High ceilings and towering arches further enhance the sense of space. The cathedral is very well maintained, spotlessly clean inside and out. The blue ceiling decoration and sparkling organ pipes stand out amongst internal features. Services are held regularly and events are hosted on special occasions, so it's worth checking the website before visiting to be sure you'll be able to look inside. There's accessible onsite parking for visitors to the cathedral, while a café, shop and toilet facilities are located inside.
Andrew T — Google review
Lovely modern cathedral. Free parking for 2 hours is a bonus, giving you plenty of time to walk around. Easy to access from the motorway too.
Bruce L — Google review
Guildford Cathedral’s simple, modernist architecture feels both grand and welcoming. A lovely stop if you’re in the area, whether for history, quiet contemplation, or just a great view over Guildford.
RithuTheExplorer V — Google review
One of the newer British Cathedrals built in the 20th century. Aestheticly pleasing but somewhat too clean and lacking atmosphere as with many of its older contemporaries
Yoav G — Google review
An interesting modern cathedral. The threads display was excellent. I would like to return when no craft show, so I can really enjoy the space. Really nice cafe also. Had coffee and an excellent slice of cake.

Wild Wood Adventure is an amusement center located in Stoke Park, Guildford, offering treetop rope courses and zip-lines suitable for both adults and children. The high ropes course features rope bridges, wobbly crossings, obstacles, tightropes, and ziplines to create a thrilling treetop adventure. With two levels of courses available, it caters to children from 6 years old to adults.
I took my 8 year old granddaughter for a birthday treat. We both really enjoyed the course. I thought it was a great starter course with the right mixer of challenges. The zip lines were definitely our favourite. The booking was easy as well as the check in. The safety briefing was very clear and easy to understand. Parking was free at the very end carpark just past the office.
Martyn P — Google review
This is good adventure if you are not afraid of heights. My 7 year old was so brave & completed both the courses Wild Woods has to offer. A must try, would recommend
Danita F — Google review
Great activity with the kids. The instructors were patient and explained the safety rules well. The two kids courses were the right level for ages 7-10yrs in our group. The youngest one was scared the first round but the staff were very patient and encouraging and then she was flying around after that. We also got to go around the two kids courses multiple times. Thank you.

Very very lovley staff.. all very professional. Very attentive. Only problem is u cannot get a refund if booking was made b4 7 days ago. Other than that an amazing experience for all the family. My children loved it all.
Samantha P — Google review
Wild woods was amazing! The staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. The kindness and encouragement they showed to a nervous boy in our group was incredible. The course was challenging and extremely fun. We will definitely be back!
Judith A — Google review
Excellent, would definitely recommend. We held a kids birthday party here and the team at Wild Woods were professional, friendly and just brilliant. The kids loved the day.
Stewart C — Google review
Staff were friendly and courses good fun with lots of interesting challenges. What was also a undesired challenge was booking with vouchers (you can only buy them online, not use). The phone went unanswered during the week (when they were open for the holidays) and no call back from the message left, eventually got through to someone the day before we wanted to do it.

History Museums
The Spike Heritage Centre, located in Guildford, offers a glimpse into the harsh living conditions of the Edwardian era. Visitors can take guided tours of the Guildford Union Workhouse and learn about the difficult lives of its inmates. The museum provides insight into the hardships faced by homeless individuals and vagrants during that time. It serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by those less fortunate in early 20th-century society.
My friend and I had a few hours to spare in Guildford so went for a tour of the Spike. I found it fascinating and the dedicated and passionate volunteers give you a tour which includes a video and tell you all about the building and the history and heritage. You were a real highlight, thankyou for our tour!
Sally K — Google review
Very interesting, lovely well informed volunteers took us round. Learnt a lot. It is cold so you need a jumper or jacket.
Sue M — Google review
We finally visited the spike centre today. John our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I visited with my grandchildren and he made their experience memorable and enjoyable as well. Thank you for the work that you do and well worth a visit. I would strongly recommend.
Rosemarie J — Google review
I came across the Spike Heritage Centre after reading George Orwell's Down and Out in Paris and London. I'm so glad I visited, it was a really interesting experience led by our knowledgeable guide Dennis. This is living history and encourages reflection on one of the most important issues in our society today. Very well preserved and worth a visit
Angela S — Google review
We went today and we want to give a special thank you to the dedicated staff for the amazing tour! They gave us a good scope of how the centre operated and the living conditions under which the occupants suffered. They also gave us a detailed history of the building it self. It was super interesting, we enjoyed it immensely.
Rosana J — Google review
You walk through prosperous Guildford and come to this reminder of what was available for "vagrants " early in the 20th Century. Stone breaking, spiking oakum or 2d to stay the night.
P.A.B. A — Google review
A great experience all round uncovering a dark, bleak bit of history. Even though most of it was demolished, seeing the casual ward of the old workhouse is still fascinating and enlightening. I had a great tour delivered by Dennis who was very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and tolerated me constantly interrupting with questions! An excellent guide with plenty of insights into The Spike. I also picked up some great little booklets from the shop, and was assisted by Christine who was also lovely. Had a great chat with her as well. Fascinating place and lovely staff! Would recommend to all, but do take a coat if you're going any time other than Summer. It's chilly!
Ben M — Google review
I've lived in Guildford for a while but had no idea this was here until a friend suggested visiting. We were shown around by a friendly volunteer guide and found it really interesting and quite moving. A real piece of social history I knew nothing about. Well worth a visit - and we were even given a cup of tea and a biscuit!

Surrey Sports Park is a modern sports complex that serves as a top-notch training venue. It features various facilities such as swimming pools, climbing walls, and sports courses. The park is also home to the Surrey Storm team and regularly draws large crowds for events. Additionally, it offers amenities like a sports bar and Starbucks. Visitors can enjoy watching games or participating in activities while students at the University of Surrey have subsidized access to the park.
Excellent facilities especially for badminton no strings club and the courts are clean. The organisers of the club are fantastic. Hayley Adcock is the best organiser and badminton coach I have ever met. Everything is great including the cafe and the friendly staff at Surrey Sports Park. The changing rooms and the squash courts and the gym are very good too. Hopefully soon they have Padel at Surrey.

Nice place, being here for swimming competition, long course swim. Parking is free for threes hours or if you come for an event who is long then 3 hours you have to register your number plate at the reception desk. If you come for a swimming event be aware of the limited space of seats and quite difficult to move on from one side to other. Coffee shop is nice and with lots of places to seats. Nice, polite staff.
Eleena P — Google review
Good membership price in terms of a variety things to do - gym, pool and sauna, classes, courts. However, if you’re only going to SSP for the gym, it’s a ripoff - a lot of the equipment is out of use and it takes months for someone to come and fix it
Ivet I — Google review
I have had a very poor recent experience as a member. The class that I attend (and pay monthly membership for to be able to book onto) has been cancelled several weeks in a row (and the weeks it has not been cancelled have been in lower quality weather impacted outdoor facilities whilst the gym is refurbished). When I reasonably asked for a membership refund for the month where my class was not available once, I was told no. When asked the formal route to complain, I was referred to an almost blank page on the website with a button to the general support email address. With the member prices going up to pay for enhanced facilities next month, it felt reasonable to give money back for cancelled classes and worse facilities recently. I've started shopping for class memberships elsewhere.
George T — Google review
Went to watch Surrey Storm Vs Wasps, brilliant atmosphere, not overly big arena good size, fans were encouraging, players great, game exciting. The complex has a sports bar and Starbucks as well as two swimming pools, climb walls, netball courts and other sport activities. Had a lovely time, would highly recommend to the netball fans and sports fans alike as well as people who do sport aka sporty people. Will be attending again
HoC I — Google review
!Beware of the cancellation policy! If you sign up for a month , they won’t let you go for THREE months. Also hard to find and to action cancellation, have to fill out a whole form and wait for personal reply. Weird Gym much smaller than photos would have you think. Super busy even at first light. Nice equipment, decently arranged. Didn’t have the chance to check out other facilities before wanting to cancel.
Tym S — Google review
I only use the centre for the swimming pool, which is excellent. However, with each passing year, more pool showers have broken, currently with two out of five functioning one side. Come on, guys, it's basic plumbing in an essential area we're talking here, not part of any refurbishment programme. Please, please, get them fixed!
Howard H — Google review
Whilst I can't comment on every part of Surrey Sports Park, my review reflects my experience of the classes facilitated by Freya. Week on week, Freya creates a welcoming atmosphere in her classes, where everyone, regardless of ability or experience can participate. It feels like such an inclusive, supportive space. This is the first time in my life really that I've been consistently attending classes, and have been doing so for well over a year now. So much of that is thanks to Freya. I don't leave reviews often, but I really felt she should be recognised for the great job she does. I am gutted to learn that she's moving on from SSP and really wish her the best for the future! 😊

Castle Grounds is a beautifully maintained historic site with manicured lawns, seasonal flower borders, and stunning tulip displays in April. The Norman castle, built over a thousand years ago by William the Conqueror, stands at the center of the grounds. Visitors can explore the ruins and enjoy splendid views over Guildford from the tower during warmer months.
Excellent place to visit when in Guildford town centre. Gardens are always maintained and with lovely rotating collection of flowers throughout spring and summer.

Very nice and large public garden on the Guildford castle grounds. Marvellous during summer time when the sun is out and temperature is high.
Sami A — Google review
Gorgeous views. Perfect for a pit stupor a detour to treat your eyes. The flowerbeds were well looked after, thriving even after the summer heat. Be mindful that it slopes and there are some steeper inclines; may be a slight struggle for those with buggies or mobility issues.
Catherine — Google review
Beautifully maintained gardens with shaped ornamental flower beds, stunning tulip displays in April, and a historic Norman castle at the centre. There's plenty of seating to spend a few moments enjoying the surroundings. Other features include an attractive bandstand, war memorials and a striking statue of Alice Through The Looking Glass. There are various ruined walls around the grounds, and good signage. The castle itself (entry charged separately) is worth a look, with a small exhibition inside and great views from the top, but the gardens are the real highlight, and free to enter.
Andrew T — Google review
What a unique experience and the grounds are BEAUTIFULLY maintained! I enjoyed the historic backdrop with the greenery and cityscape all interplaying off one another. There are plenty of benches and worth the visit. Take some time to sit and soak it in - you won’t be sorry!

Tranquil, well maintained gardens. The scenery is beautiful for photos. The castle is ancient and worth the visit.

Extensive grounds with a minimalist touch to the planting. The paths are steep in places and in some places the paths are closed off because of issues with instability of the ground. Overall a pleasant green space with several benches spread out across the grounds.

This innovative games bar combines the excitement of cricket with modern technology, making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of skill level. Families can bond over thrilling matches while indulging in delicious food and creative cocktails. The staff is known for their exceptional service; Chloe, in particular, has been praised for her warm hospitality and attentiveness to guests' needs.
Had a fabulous evening wasn’t sure what to expect but turned out to be so much fun. Pizzas were perfect & the cocktails were amazing. Have to say a special thanks to Sam made us feel welcomed & explained how to play. Can definitely recommend for a fun night
Rani J — Google review
I went with my family for Father's day and we were treated like royalty! Chloe our host, was not only attentive, but she was also friendly, very helpful, and a pleasure to have host us. I thought customer service was long gone, but they made the afternoon for me and my family an amazing experience and we loved every minute! From the food and drink (good pizzas!), karaoke, darts and games we played, through to the Cricket and even the ice cream and candy floss for my daughter, nothing seemed too much effort for Chloe or the team. I wouldn't just recommend the venue and a great time out doing something different, but I highly recommend Chloe as an excellent and engaging host - thanks for a great afternoon!

Came for a 40th birthday celebration and we had the best time. The staff we had on the 19th April were phenomenal, so attentive but not intrusive, fun and so helpful and really couldn’t have done more to make our evening any better. Sixes is so much fun and just great between dinner and the night out and the cocktails were just delicious and to find there’s a back room that you can hire for events is such a great idea. We were only meant to go for an hour or so but ended up there for hours as the drinks were flowing and we just were having such a great time. Can’t recommend this place more
Carina P — Google review
The staff were welcoming and the venue was clean and well maintained, with a good selection of drinks that were reasonably priced. The game itself was enjoyable and fairly priced, but there were a few areas that let the experience down. The food overall was disappointing - the menu was limited and lacked flavour, with the burger in particular feeling overpriced and under-seasoned. Service was also slower than expected. In addition, there need to be more balls in the feeder the last player in our group wasn’t able to finish their round, which unfortunately affected the overall standings. All in all, a fun visit, but definitely room for improvement.

Wow. My family had never been before and after seeing the reviews for Chloe I thought we’d give it a chance and she did not disappoint!! She was incredible, she was so friendly and attentive to our whole group. My sons loved her, even though I am slightly cursing her for selling them milkshakes ( The sugar rush in the summer holidays was just what I needed ) She kept asking cricket questions to my boys and got them really excited about the game! I have never received such personal customer service it really felt like she was part of our family by the end of the session! I not only recommend the game for something to do over the holidays. But I recommend Chloe as such an incredible host. She is such an asset to your team, the experience would not have been the same without her. The food was a little expensive and did take a while to come out, but Chloe realised after about 20 minutes that we were still waiting and rushed to check for us. She apologised and it came out about 10 minutes later. As a surprise she gave the boys this huge candyfloss with a sparkler ( More sugar! ) We came home on such a high. Thank you Chloe!! We will be back.
Sarah A — Google review
Have to say this is a fantastic venue, very good service throughout. If you get a chance there is a party room out the back with a big karaoke screen, darts board, pool table and is really good fun to hire with your group. We did the cricket net which was fun for everyone even the ones who hadn't played before. Food and drinks were excellent too - we will be returning again! Thanks

Wow. What a fantastic experience at Sixes Guildford. So much to do and fun for everyone in the family. Chloe was an absolute star and went out of her way to make sure we felt welcome. My husband had the best Father’s Day and my little girl is now in love with cricket! Thank you so much Chloe, came home on such a high.

We had a great time Celebrating at the Sixes. The Karaoke private room is very nice , spacious and offers options for kids to do. My children have been having fun singing , yet remarked ,if they could wireless mics ,would be even better , but that has been so negligible of an inconvenience compared to the impression the staff has placed on us ,as being kind, accommodating and very helpful, particularly Rob and Thomas , these staff ,have definitely made our entire experience enjoyable on the 17th of September.Thank you.

Riverside Nature Reserve in Guildford is a hidden gem that beckons nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. This picturesque spot offers the perfect backdrop for leisurely strolls, picnics, and quality time with friends or furry companions. A short 15 to 25-minute walk from Spectrum leads you through stunning views and tranquil surroundings filled with fresh air. Families often visit to feed ducks and explore the waterways, making it a delightful destination for children as well.
I visited here several times and here is a really amazing place to have a walk for spend time with your friends, pets with food and drinks. From spectrum to walk to here it’s only takes about 15mins to 25mins walk so it is not very long walk but you can enjoy the best views from there and the place is beautiful, very peaceful and comfortable with the fresh air! There are two tables and chairs nearby the river side and really recommend to come visit with your own food and drinks — but don’t for get to clean up your mess before you leave this beautiful place!
Ophe L — Google review
The River Wey Navigation is one of my favourite places for a slow, peaceful walk when I need to switch off. It winds through Surrey with a mix of calm water, greenery, and quiet charm. I usually join the towpath from Guildford and just follow the river—no rush, no noise, just the sound of water, birds, and the occasional narrowboat humming past. There’s something really grounding about walking here. You pass locks like Stoke Lock and Bowers Lock, each with its own little pocket of calm. I often see swans gliding by, ducks chasing each other, and now and then, people fishing quietly along the banks. On warmer days, I’ve seen kids kayaking or canoeing with instructors, their laughter echoing down the water. The path is easy to walk, with lots of open spots to stop, sit, or just watch the river flow. Sometimes I bring a coffee or a small snack and just take it slow. It’s not a “touristy” place, which makes it even better—it feels like a bit of countryside hidden in plain sight. If you enjoy gentle walks, quiet water, and a bit of nature without leaving town, the River Wey Navigation is just the right kind of peaceful.

A really nice place for a walk with a set route. The board walk with facts about the animals and bugs local to it is a nice touch.

Really lucky to have this on our doorstep. I often walk my dog starting at spectrum, walkng around the lake and then back down the canal. My children also love coming here and feeding the ducks amd exploring along the waterways.I wish there was less litter at the picnic site and less noise from the A3 (nothing can be done about the latter I know!).

As I visited this place in April so there was not much of the greenery but the place is quite and you can feel the nature’s peace.

Dapdune Wharf offers a deep dive into the history of River Wey Navigations and the lives of bargemen. Visitors can also enjoy a leisurely cruise along the river, providing a unique perspective of Guildford's landmarks. The site hosts various events like guided walks and orientation weekends throughout the year. Additionally, there is an on-site bookshop with preloved books, and proceeds from sales contribute to maintaining the riverways.
Parking is expensive at £5 (free if National Trust member) but that’s one set price and you don’t pay anything for entry, so it’s totally worth it. Signal is terrible so if you can’t get on Ringo, go to the cabin to pay. We went through the exhibitions (small, interactive, quick but lovely) then down to a beautiful bookshed! The shed has lots of preloved books that are so wonderful and peculiar! The money raised from the sale of books goes towards the riverways. We didn’t have time to do the walk too sadly but apparently it’s beautiful. There is a tearooms with toilets & a garden.

Nestled right next to the iconic Guildford Castle, The March Hare is a charming split-level brasserie that beautifully marries the warmth of a traditional English inn with the chic elegance of a French eatery. Recently revamped, this delightful spot features stripped wooden floors and an inviting deck terrace, perfect for enjoying al fresco dining while soaking in picturesque views.
We though this place was great. Excellent dinners (plaice, and duck), comfy and cozy seating, even got to read a bit of a book published in 1899. Nicely decorated, playing on the hare theme. But note, they refused to take cash what is the world coming to we will deserve our fate my friends.

We had a great dinner with some guests who are in town. Booked in advance as I know it can get busy on weekends during the summer months. Great service from the team and the atmosphere was good. If you want to be able to sit and have a conversation I would avoid eating in the upstairs part of the restaurant as it was very noisy. In terms of food my main, the duck special, was OK but the rest was good. We all had starters and mains each then shared some desserts. Including wine/beers I thought it was reasonably priced.
Samantha W — Google review
Mixed Experience – Disappointed with the Food My wife and I visited The March Hare this evening after hearing good things from friends. Although we didn’t have a reservation and the restaurant was quite busy, we were promptly seated in the bar area by a very pleasant staff member, which we appreciated. We ordered the Rump Steak and the Lamb Shoulder Roulade. The steak was requested medium-rare but arrived more on the rare side. I didn’t send it back, as I don’t mind a rarer steak, but it’s worth noting. Unfortunately, the lamb dish was quite underwhelming. While the meat was tender, it lacked flavour and the lamb jus was very watery (as shown in the photo). For a £25 dish, we had expected better quality and execution. The restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere and décor, and it's clearly popular with locals. However, the food didn't live up to expectations. Service was satisfactory, though we did notice that no one came to check on us after our meals were served, which was disappointing. Overall, while we appreciated the setting and initial welcome, we left feeling disappointed. Not sure if we’ll be returning.
Mark H — Google review
Went for dinner with my husband. The restaurant was very busy, and we had to find a table ourselves in the bar area. While the staff member at the bar was friendly, the overall service was quite casual—no one checked on us after our food was served. I had the lamb (£24), which was unfortunately bland, and my husband ordered the steak (£26) medium rare, but it came out quite rare. Prices were already on the high side, and there was an additional 10% service charge. Overall, the food and service didn’t live up to the price, and I don’t feel like we’ll be returning.

Nice pub with generally friendly staff. Don’t order the chateaubriand sharer! It says 14oz on the menu. Ours came and it was about 6oz, not enough for 1 let alone 2. Staff disinterested when we asked if that was a full portion. It came with 2 halves of a very dry overcooked tomato. Real shame. Other food that was ordered was pretty good but this one was a complete let down and one to avoid!
Rich S — Google review
I don’t normally write reviews but I would like to share a positive experience! I had the beef and ale pie and it was devine - lovely atmosphere in the conservatory and an attentive, charming waitress Grace who hadn’t been working there long but got it down to a T. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, good margaritas too!

BEST SCONE IN TOWN!! I tried a gluten-free scone with hot chocolate, to be honest, these are the most delicious scone I have ever eaten so far. 😭❤️ The texture is a bit crispy on the outside, super soft and bouncy on the inside. The cream smells so good, combined perfectly with strawberry jam. Decent food, but great service, and attention to detail, we received 2 forks even though we ordered only one portion of an excellent Carrot Cake. The stately home boasts an impressive collection of art, furniture, and the renowned Cobbe Collection - Europe's largest assortment of keyboard instruments linked to famous composers. Visitors can explore the stunning bluebell wood in spring and enjoy Wizard Wix's Willow Warren, an all-natural adventure area for children.
Took my teenage daughter here today. Had a wonder round the house which was interesting with lots of paintings and pianos with so much history to them. We then took a long walk around the grounds which were beautiful. Plenty for young and old to do with a wooden playground in the woods, donkeys, and cows roaming the fields. A lovely afternoon out.

There is so many path to walk around, great place for kids to play. Really recommend.

This is an excellent home to visit if you are interested in music and paintings. The paintings are incredible and to see pianos that belonged to Chopin, Mozart, Lizt etc was very special. It was also interesting to see Shakespeare's portrait and the link he had to Hatchlands. Unfortunately internal photography wasn't allowed. The gardens were not at their best, but hopefully in summer they will look fantastic!

We got free vouchers to visit the park. It was well maintained, with lots of space for the kids to explore — especially since they were currently hosting The Very Hungry Caterpillar trail, where children could explore and have their pictures taken via a QR code. Overall, it was a pleasant visit despite the extremely hot weather. The kids had fun!

Lovely place even in the rain. Nice cafe in the old kitchen. Great assortment of drinks on offer and the date flapjack and lemon drizzle cake were delicious. Rich in history and well kept. The tour of the house was particularly good as our guide was very knowledgeable..The garden was also managed really well, the roses were a dream to behold and the fragrance beautiful. The only knock back was the food on offer was very limited and over priced.

Wonderful, slightly wild RHS garden cared for by volunteers. Entrance fee goes to a children's hospice founded by the family who own the land, in memory of their son who died aged 12. The gardens are varied, some tidier than other. Not really much in the way of lawns, so this is one for those who love their flowers and shrubs. A really well run and excellent local theatre offering a wide range of interesting and engaging plays and shows. Lovely riverside location with a cafe and indoor and outdoor seating. Well stocked bars with snacks, drinks and Jude’s Ice cream and staff are very friendly and helpful. Lovely Country Road music evening. Very enjoyable. Pre-ordered Nachos with pulled pork. Rather disappointing portion size, needed more meat. It was rather expensive for the size of the portions. Would definitely eat before arriving at Theatre next time.

Show was excellent, the stars are not a reflection of that. What let the experience down were the refreshment prices! Over £12 for a small bag of Minstrels, a child-sized bottle of water and a 0% Peroni. The show was great value, the bar definitely wasn’t.

Lovely theatre, perfect size for the show we saw. Unusual to not have any parking, although there was a car park within 5 minutes, and it did get very hot in there. But I would visit again. Food on site was lovely too!

I haven't been to YA for a while and hadn't seen the renovations. Great that the men's toilets are much improved. And also that the dining area and bar/restaurant are now out of the main lounge area. However, the atmosphere/ambience of the restaurant is not very welcoming. Very stark and cold. Feels like a hospital or school cafeteria, rather than a warm, inviting space, especially on a chilly autumn evening. A good splash of warm paint (or wood panelling) would do the trick. Also, dimming the lights a bit (almost wished I had sunglasses). One plus was the music was nice and soft and not overwhelming like so many restaurants. I think that if the space was more inviting, people might just want to stick around for an after show drink and chat. The staff were great. 5 stars to them.

Great show and nice staff but silly rules. Bought a bottle of wine from the bar upstairs to be told we couldn’t take it in with us for ‘health and safety’. I asked if this was in case I threw it on stage and was told no, it’s for ‘health and safety’. The Mrs Warboys-esque character on the door clearly had no idea! No bag check on entry and had to leave our bottle open on the bar so anyone could have spiked us, clearly not that bothered about H&S!!

Saw Little Women today. Great production. Comfortable seat in row F of the stalls with a good view of the stage. Hot drink from the bar was nice though small for the price. Will visit again.

I went to Yvonne Arnaud Theatre to see the show Murder At Midnight starring Max Bowden from EastEnders and I had a wonderful time, it was an incredible experience to see Max and the rest of the cast perform live as it has always been my dream to see Max perform as I have been a fan of his for many years now so it was a special experience for me. We had front row seats which made the experience even more special too. Yvonne Arnaud is a wonderful little venue with great seating for shows and the cafe is lovely too, with delicious food and drinks and beautiful views across the river. The staff are really friendly and helpful too. Thank you Yvonne Arnaud for a wonderful show and for making my dreams come true with watching Max Bowden perform live, I send my gratitude to Max and the rest of the cast of Murder At Midnight for a fantastic show that I will remember forever!

Clandon Park, a National Trust property located four miles east of Guildford, is an 18th-century Palladian mansion with a rich history and beautiful gardens. Although the main house suffered fire damage in 2015, the grounds remain stunning to explore. The mansion was designed by Italian architect Giacomo Leoni and housed an impressive collection of furniture and porcelain, some of which is displayed in temporary exhibitions.
This is a must see! The house was absolutely gutted on the inside a couple of years ago from a fire, which has destroyed whole floors & all internal decoration. It is a unique opportunity to see such a property & its architectural features, whilst the MT have made it safe to visit & consider how they will restore this. A big question is whether to fully restore to its previous grandeur or now leave it as it stands & use the opportunity to tell a new story..?
David N — Google review
We are fortunate to experience many other National Trust properties throughout the UK. This one is probably the closest to where we live, so we decided to visit. Having done the red/ pink trail, we found it rather mundane and there is nothing that would immediately take one's breath away. The house was closed and surroundings aren't manicured, but there it's s fair bit of ground to explore. It's good if you are a dog walker or just want a casual stroll. I can see the paths being quite muddy in wet weather. Overall, compared to others, this NT property isn't the best kept or the most pretty. May come neck when the house reopens.
CD — Google review
Website says it's open with a photo of the house.. I come 60 miles expecting to see a house albeit recovering from fire. Only the garden lawn is open. Misleading, untrue description.
Andrew H — Google review
Very disappointed. The house is closed and wrapped after the fire. The grounds were open, but no staff around, no facilities, the grounds aren't being looked after. Ok for a little walk but not worth going out of your way for.
Neil S — Google review
Beautiful gardens. The house wasn't open for tours but there are 2 long walls with interesting history as well as the placards throughout the garden.
Stephanie C — Google review
Really fascinating time to visit, following the terrible fire in 2015. You don a hardhat and put on a high-vis jacket to enter the house. The house was completely gutted and you can see right back to the brick work. Information boards show before and after images - as well as the history of the building. Go if you can - and take advantage of this unique opportunity.
Deborah S — Google review
It's now four year's on since Clandon Park caught fire and caused massive devastation to what was a wonderful National Trust property. Unfortunately there is not too much to view at the moment. The National Trust have opened up the property so that the general public can see what remains of the property. They are hoping that they will be able to let the general public see the changes as they renovate Clandon Park and eventually reinstate it to it's former glory. I

Shalford Mill, a National Trust property located near Guildford, is a well-preserved 18th-century watermill that offers a glimpse into traditional village life. Despite the machinery no longer being operational, the mill's graffitied walls and ancient hessian sacks exude the rich history of its past. Visitors can learn about the mill's decline and restoration efforts by the eccentric Ferguson Gang in the 1930s.

With free WiFi available, it’s an ideal spot for those looking to relax or catch up on work amidst creative energy.
A small theatre, about a 5 minute walk from the station. The theatre has a small bar (when I visited, they only took card payments) with a few table and chairs dotted around. The ladies' toilets were very clean (always a good sign!). The theatre had quite a few volunteers staffing the auditorium, who were very helpful and informative. The theatre itself, although small, was well laid out, and I found it comfortable. We were in the second row, so very close to the performers, as the stage is quite small. The performance was by a group called Zervas and Pepper, who were brilliant.

Wow what a great little venue. Recently saw the Gordon Wellard septet and enjoyed it so much we immediately bought tickets for a couple more gigs. Keep up the good work. Dropped a star because they recently stopped selling Firebird beer in the bar. Only alternative Newcastle Brown Ale!?

My first experience at the electric theatre, we were there to listen to Allie Bailey. The theatre itself is in a great central location by the river Wey in Guildford not far from the main train station. The facilities were fine with the theatre itself also decent enough for the talk we were there for. Bar could have been a little quicker for service although it wasn't bad, toilets were clean enough. Would be happy to visit again.

Pleasant open space by the river Wey, not far from the centre of Guildford. Great for dog walks, as the trees on the riverside path offer plenty of shade in the summer months. The landscape is mostly flat wetland ground, with a striking contrast provided by the sandy riverbank. The ruins of St Catherine's Chapel up the steep hill on the west side of the river make an interesting diversion from the waterside path.

Nestled in the heart of Guildford, ODEON Guildford is a vibrant cinema that offers an extensive selection of entertainment options, from the latest blockbuster films to live event screenings. This popular venue not only showcases new releases but also serves as a gateway to local cultural experiences, with nearby attractions like the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre and G Live providing diverse performances for all ages. Visitors often rave about the friendly staff and clean facilities at ODEON Guildford.
About what you'd expect from a cinema. High prices for snacks but overall comfortable seats with good leg space, clean but slightly narrow toilets, friendly staff and nicely decorated interior. Speaking of the decor, the bathroom had some funky colors.
Spukyon — Google review
We use this cinema quite a lot because it has very good ticket prices - £5 a showing instead of the £14 many charge. However, you get what you pay for. The cinema is older and has not been updated to recliner seats etc but that doesn’t usually bother us as we can go as a family more often because of the price. Having said that, we paid £2 each extra for Standard+ for four of us in Screen 7 to see Mission Impossible and found that these were actually worse than the standard seats because the Premium seats in front had high headrests which partially blocked my view (I am 5ft 5). Even without the rests, the heads would have been in our way. Definitely not worth the extra! We also had some very noisy people in the back row who were warned about their behaviour several times by security. Eventually a big guy stood up and told them loudly that he was going to get them removed. He fetched security and this time they were kicked out but security should have got them out earlier. (Our thanks to the customer) We will continue using it but definitely will not pay for Standard+ again.
J M — Google review
Went here today see Superman (2025). We decided to travel here for something different as prices were significantly cheaper than our usual cinema. We sat in premium and I was pleased. I thought the cinema itself was quite dated and shabby. I was also frustrated with the long walk to the toilets from screen 8 which was hardly convenient. The toilets themselves were cramped, narrow and not in the condition I was hoping for.
Alison M — Google review
Such a pathetic place to watch a movie. The screen is so ridiculously small it feels like you’re watching on a 102-inch TV at home. Honestly, a proper TV would give you a better experience. They should be embarrassed to even call this a theater. Total waste of money—never recommending this cheap setup to anyone.
Vishnu K — Google review
I’ve been coming here for years, but sadly the place has really gone downhill. It feels run-down, and the lack of security is a real concern. I’ve seen people openly taking drugs during screenings and others running in and out of films without any checks—it completely ruins the experience.
George S — Google review
Screen 4 had no AC yesterday when watching a film. It was very stuffy and very warm. This is not acceptable at all. It made a good film into a bad experience. Please fix this.
R — Google review
Very easy to book tickets and pre-order food using the Odeon app. I walked in, marked I had arrived and the food was quickly made. After that I scanned my ticket and went straight on through to the screen to sit down
Alastair T — Google review
Read on for XL worth (spoilers it isn’t) What an awful scam, just booked my 241 tickets and expected the usual pay the increment you know an extra £2 but no, odeon doesn’t really do 241 it does 1 and 2nd half price. 2nd thing I don’t usually go for the XL screen but due to time constraints I didn’t have a choice. But this booking reminded me of an issue I had when I first went to XL as it isn’t any different than it was before. All they did was rebrand it XL and charge more for it, it’s just the same screen they had before, and happens to be the largest they have in this particular cinema and it’s still smaller than most other screens. If memory serves the speakers were also broken in there, they had this awful clicking noise throughout the film. What an awful cinema run by an awful chain, it is in desperate need of a refresh. Also no difference with standard+ (more space 🤣🤣) just an excuse to charge you more for sitting further away from the screen, and premier is the bare minimum. Again in desperate need of a refresh. As for the staff, they do what they can, they are working hard in such an outdated place, and some of them try to smile. But they are never rude 👍

Amazing experience today for my daughter’s Birthday! Great staff working there super helpful and friendly. My kids did the jumping and climbing experience and the instructor was super caring helpful and nice. Reception supervisor lady also very helpful and kind. Definitely recommend this place very clean also and well time managed - never over crowded and super spacious.

Loved the place. Visited again as kids who visit us are also asking for this place. Of course, in these past few years, they have become popular and widely accepted as kids-tour-spot But i personally feel it is a small place cos they started the walk-in booking. This makes it difficult to predict the high number of visitors - as well as the parking is quite difficult at times. This hurricane Simulation was a big catch for the kids this time. ❤️.. Well, not many of these kinds are nearby so I'm still gonna visit.

I went with my 2 daughters on Sunday, and Isabelle was absolutely lovely. Very friendly and helpful, especially when my children were nervous. Great experience overall. xx
Christina H — Google review
Awful staff from the receptionists, they would much rather have children cry due to their inability to manage a que. Was more than happy to have my child miss 10 minutes from the previous session and get to jump with his friends but the teenage girl behind the till would much rather laugh in our faces than allow a 5 year old to bounce with his friends. Absolutely awful customer service, I spent over £500 booking my sons part here in May and this is the way the staff treat us. Was informed the staff are motivated to sell summer passes and get a £50 voucher for whoever sells the most. Yet when it comes to claiming and using the summer passes they don’t want to allow us to use them.
Dan — Google review
The children loved this spot i especially like the fact that I can follow them around to keep an eye on how they are behaving without any additional charges
Pumula M — Google review
I have been here several times before yet my experience today has put me off coming back. There were several children licking and biting the balls in the dodgeball court and taking them into a corner. However, not a single staff member was watching the dodgeball so this continued, was never dealt with and having no staff there seemed very unsafe for children. In addition to this the ‘unlimited refill bottle’ we bought at the counter actually costed £2 every time we wanted to refill it which we weren’t told about until we went to refill it. The wipeout machine has also been significantly downgraded for any older children as the upper bar is now significantly lower, it moves a lot slower and no longer even turns. Finally the staff didn’t seem to enforce any of the rules as there was a pair of children wrestling on one of the platforms and then they fell off and all they did was watch. There were also children climbing on things they shouldn’t, not moving in the assault course (making it unusable) and 3 children on a trampoline several times and the staff didn’t seem nothing which is a huge risk to children’s safety and fun. Overall this was a terrible experience at somewhere that used to be fun.
Will F — Google review
I don’t normally leave reviews, but for this I feel I must. I visited this activity center yesterday with my 3 sons. We have had brilliant experiences with airhop in camberly so we thought that the Guildford airhop would be just as amazing as we have had in the past. Boy was I wrong, it looked physically impossible for all the lovely staff to handle all of these children with only a couple of them working in each area. Considering a lot of incidents, falls and injuries that happen at a place full of trampolines, not properly supervised there is bound to be more issues for the employees/ managers to manage. NOT ALL but most employees look burn out, defected and exhausted from having to be working twice as hard as they can because there is not enough staff working with them. As result staff just end up standing by watching as children commonly do not listen. A lovely lady Sophie came to help us connect to the somewhat slow WiFi. Sophie was a very friendly staff member and airhop should be very proud to have her, she is so good with kids yet very Sturn when needed and I saw that most kids would change their behaviour once she told them what was expected. She was also very attentive to our needs and was very helpful and kind to my boys. The only reason this review is high is because I feel the staff are trying the best at what is asked of them, but this is getting out of hand and unsafe with little supervision and seemingly under appreciation towards their staff.

The rolling grassland offers stunning views of the countryside and town, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and recharging. Visitors can enjoy walking along footpaths while taking in the beautiful landscapes and watching horses. It's also a great place for birdwatching and connecting with nature, with easy access to nearby woodlands and St Martha's Church.
It’s beautiful place and serene . Go with family and friends take some snacks and drinks with u on sunny day with lovely views .
Harish — Google review
Nicely kept area of scenic countryside that narrowly escaped housing development before being saved by the community. A modern monument to its preservation stands at the top of the down. The location, right on the edge of Guildford, makes it easily accessible from town. It's also reasonably close to St Martha's Hill, where free parking is available. Heading to Pewley Down from here and back through Chantry Wood makes for a very pleasant circular walk. There are quite a few benches around the top of the down, overlooking lovely views and providing the ideal place for a short rest stop. On the north side, there are far reaching views over Guildford and its unusual cathedral.
Andrew T — Google review
The views across the surrounding countryside are truly rewarding, especially on a clear day, when the rolling hills and patchwork fields stretch out before you. Within the woods themselves, you’ll find a lovely mix of trees, some striking in size and shape, creating a calming canopy overhead. The atmosphere here is wonderfully tranquil—you really do feel as though you’ve stepped away from the bustle of everyday life. On our visit, we were fortunate to enjoy warm, sunny weather, which made the experience even more memorable. Whether you’re walking alone, with a partner, or as a family, Chantry Woods is an ideal spot to relax, breathe in the fresh air, and reconnect with nature. For those planning a visit, there is a free car park nearby, making access easy and stress-free. In addition, there is a small, privately run campsite close to the woods, which must be booked in advance. Facilities include water outlets and toilets, though these appear to be seasonal. When we visited, the site was empty and the WCs were closed, but it looks like it would be a peaceful place to stay for anyone wishing to extend their time in the area. Overall, Chantry Woods is a delightful walking destination, offering just the right mix of woodland charm, open vistas, and gentle hills. It’s a wonderful reminder of the natural beauty lying just beyond Guildford, waiting to be explored. If you’re looking for a refreshing countryside escape, this walk is well worth adding to your list.

If you are lucky you might see a Deer in the chantry woods which are looked over from Pewley down
Rob D — Google review
Nice to escape the town, even though it's a nice town. Some attractive ( and expensive ) properties enroute up to the downs but worth the walk. Views over to the right coming out of town are quintessential English countryside. Sadly, for me anyway, the views to the left once u head through the hedgerows to look back toward town and the nature reserve, are somewhat spoilt by an unacceptable housing development of identical town houses stretching in a long line away from the town. Personally I think the planning department in allowing this are not lovers of nature or country walks or even interesting English architecture. It's an eyesore. And yes, I do understand a need for housing, but I would not have allowed this to blight the area. Hence not a five stars for me.

A peaceful and scenic spot perfect for walking and nature lovers. The trails wind through beautiful heathland and woodlands, making it great for a relaxing stroll or a dog walk. A lovely escape into nature!
Anuja J — Google review
I love walking here, it’s beautiful and occasionally you seeing the Kites flying above you. Highly recommend wellies as it can get very wet and boggy after bad weather. Dog friendly and great for running too as there are lots of different paths you can take - just really wish the car park was bigger as, when busy, parking can be a pain!!
Fiona W — Google review
A delightful common area with multiple routes suitable for most mobility levels. Wheelchair users may struggle with many of the routes. Good for cycling and walking. The two pubs that back onto the common are worth a visit.
Stratton K — Google review
So many walks. Took my son cycling. There isn't always a clear path but children love the exploring. There is many routes that you can try. We will be trying out different routes.
Xena — Google review
Very busy today, car park was full had to park on the roadside which was quite precarious. Nice walk through the forest and onto the common, walk was cut short after the boardwalk was flooded at the end. Would recommend wellie boots or half calf length water proof boots for this walk.
David S — Google review
Lovely place for dog walking and walking
PALDEN S — Google review
Very peaceful woodland and easy sandy walking paths, big enough to not feel crowded, plenty of options depending on how energetic you're feeling! There is a car park but I would imagine it gets full quite quickly at busy times.

Chantry Wood is a 200-acre ancient woodland and meadow reserve located near Guildford. It offers stunning hillside views of the surrounding area, including Chilworth, Chinthurst Hill, and St. Martha's. The wood is part of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is perfect for leisurely walks through bluebell-filled landscapes in spring. Visitors can also access the long-distance Greensand Way from here.
Stunning woodland, especially in the bluebell season. Great for a dog walk, but be mindful of deer, squirrels and rabbits. Lovely place to run, there are many paths and spits to explore. The main path with vehicle access is part of the North Downs Way.
Kasia L — Google review
This is such a wonderful place for a gentle stroll or a picnic, and an absolute must-see destination in the Spring, when the bluebells are in bloom. The carpet of pretty flowers, with their delicious fragrance, set among contrasting lime green beech leaves is a tonic for the soul. There's a free car park nearby at Halfpenny Lane or you can even walk from Guildford, and you won't need a jetpack to get here. You should also consider combining your visit with a walk up to St. Martha's Church for some great views over the Tillingbourne Valley. If you've got a dog, bring it - dogs like it here. Your dog will have fun!
Warren P — Google review
Seeking a peaceful nature escape near Guildford? Chantry Woods is a must-visit, especially now! It's a bluebell paradise, with vast carpets of vibrant blue creating a truly magical and fragrant experience. Enjoy relaxing strolls through the woods and take in the lovely views across the Surrey Hills. Late April/early May is peak bluebell season – don't miss it for a truly beautiful and calming experience! Remember to stick to the paths to protect the flowers.
Tomas S — Google review
Attractive area of woodland at its best during the Bluebell flowering season from mid April to early May. Walking through the woods and enjoying the occasional views over the Surrey Hills, you'd never guess you were so close to the edge of Guildford. There's free parking at St Martha's Hill a few minutes walk away. It's a great place for short dog walks not far out of town, or a good starting point for longer walks. Well marked paths head out over Martha's Hill and down into the Tillingbourne valley at Chilworth Gunpowder Mills.
Andrew T — Google review
Amazing vast wood area perfect for dog-walking and camping with marshmallows roasting over a bonfire Went for a camp trip previous in the warmer months with a couple of friends. Had a great time. Just remember to contact the council for permission first and bring the right gear.
Iris — Google review
Surprisingly nice. Bit of heather, loads of chestnuts and oaks. Pasture nearby. You can watch the species composition change as you move through the woods. Large enough and maintained enough that it's not eroded to pieces. A mycophile's dream -- dozens of mushroom species -- and the place is generally FERNtastic. ;)
M. K — Google review
A beautiful wild woodland with wonderful views and absolutely no facilities, which keep the rif raf away. One of my top places on the planet

Great playground with lots of car park 🅿️ spaces

Really lovely park, very clean lots of free parking and swings play area for all ages, fun outdoor pool, all free, with tennis, and crazy golf, (payable) large gardens for walking.
Jo K — Google review
Great place to walk. Hot chocolate from the kiosk was tepid. The play area was great with a very cool dance mat that got the blood going on a cold wintery day.
Daz F — Google review
Lovely playground area, great splash park and toilets are available/clean. Haven’t tried the mini golf but that looks good. Certainly could spend half a day or longer in this location with kids, without any dramas and everyone having a good time
Mark A — Google review
Nice park, great 90s slide. Parking easy at the weekend, but less so during the week. Toilets and cafe nearby in park
Jeni A — Google review
Great place. Go in the holidays and park free in the College car park. Lovely big paddling pool - only negative is they need more benches! Nice playground, little pond with a bridge, sensory garden- and all free! If you want to spend a little there is crazy golf and tennis and a cafe/ ice cream shack.
Julie N — Google review
The park has had a bit of a touch-up but still needs bits replacing and fixing. Overall, it's a nice park for the kids, and it's got lots around it to also do/look at. Always have spare clothes and/or a towel handy as the kids will always want to play in the splash pad area too.

If you're looking for a delightful spot to take your little ones on a sunny day, look no further than the Stoke Park Paddling Pool in Guildford. This expansive and shallow pool is perfect for toddlers and younger children, providing endless fun from May through September. Nestled within a beautifully landscaped park that features Japanese-inspired design elements, the paddling pool offers not just water play but also ample seating with plenty of benches around for parents to relax while keeping an eye on their kids.
My son really enjoyed the paddling pool! There is a nice cafe to have ice cream and snacks! Nice picnic area for families!
Nithiya Y — Google review
There is free car parking next to the park during school holiday times. The paddling pool is quite big and doesn't feel too overcrowded, even during busier times. Around the pool there are plenty of benches and shady areas to sit. The park has a large playground, duck pond, skate park, and huge field nearby for playing football or running off some steam! There are a couple of ice cream/food kiosks onsite for snacks and drinks. For an extra cost, there is also mini golf, although this in a little run down and in need of a bit of an investment. Guildford town centre is about a 10-15 minute walk away. Overall, this is a great place to go to for a few hours, especially with children.
Natasha S — Google review
Great place for families for summer's hot days. Pool is located in the heart of the park stylized in Japanese way. A lot of benches to sit down. Two kiosks with ice creams, soft drinks, crispsand slush ❄️ in normal price. There is a small waterfall next to pool. We have had a lot of fun last Sunday, in hot summer there isn't possible to take kids out of the pool. Only one thing, there is always a lot of people, so if that is problem, probably You will not enjoy to much.

Nestled along a picturesque stretch of river, the Guildford Rowing Club is an inviting haven for both seasoned rowers and enthusiastic beginners. With a warm and friendly atmosphere, this club fosters a strong sense of community among its members, many of whom are dedicated volunteers. It's an ideal spot for young people to engage in teamwork while enjoying the physical benefits of rowing. Although some juniors may transition away from the sport at 16, those who stay find camaraderie and support within this inclusive environment.
Very pleasant place to be beautiful stretch of the river
Dan N — Google review
Very friendly club; so many committed members; very good atmosphere for beginners. All the coaches are parent volunteers. One point to highlight, almost all the juniors leave when they get to 16, either they drop rowing completely or move to others clubs. For anyone wants to continue beyond, they may not find partners/crew and they will have to stop too.

Setting up our fishing tackle for my 8yr old son and hes 14yr old brother when we we’re verbally abused by a member of the rowing club who was a elderly lady who i believe was called sam she then directed a member of staff to lock all the doors and not to leave until we had gone i feel very offended and embarrassed that something like this would happen infront of alot of people who were members of the club

Very rude. Pulled up at the rowing club was ordered not to park there and was repeated told it was private land. The man didn't even enquire as to why we were there in the first place. Assumed we were parking. Not a very friendly rowing club.

Peter Pan and the Lusty Boys - Adult Panto, visited on the 8th and laughed until the 9th, great entertainment
Philip J — Google review
Saw my first Adult Panto last night & it certainly be won’t be my last. Recommended by friends that were booking for the 3rd year running I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I haven’t laughed so much in ages & everything about this production was brilliant. Very risqué and inappropriate but we loved it, especially the script & new lyrics to familiar songs. Well done everyone, a great start to Christmas!
Anneliese N — Google review
Well done Charlotte and Nick for the great service you provide to your audience and to the many artists you booked - especially at such a difficult time. I attended 2 events this year - wish I had the time to see more. Keep up the fantastic work!
T S — Google review
I have seen, over the past few years, a number of Guildford Fringe shows, they are all brilliant. We are so lucky, in Guildford, to have such a cultural mix of entertainment laid on for us by Nick and Charlotte, not only in the month of July, but at other times too. The Adult Pantomime is so clever and funny, a Christmas treat not to be missed.
Carole C — Google review
I have been a supporter of Guildford Fringe for many years. Always a deliver a varied program with the Adult Panto being top of my list every year. It's great to support local artists too. Good work GF keep up the good work. We love you!
Chay B — Google review
I attended my first Guildford Fringe Festival event where Nick Wyschna was interviewed by former Eagle Radio broadcaster - Peter Gordon. Obviously others had read the posting correctly, as there were only three people in the audience and where they would have had a full house if it had been the other way round talking about local radio in the town and the events of 31st August 2020. The ticket was £15.00 which seemed a lot for such an event and maybe £10 was more appropriate. Especially as we were told the event was being recorded and those not attending could hear the talk via a website for free. A rather enthusiastic blonde wanted us to buy a drink. Having paid for the event I stayed and heard about the formation of the Guildford Fringe Festival and a host of unknown artists and never about how if fitted within the larger Guildford Festival. One thing, which did surprise me was it was a professional organisation and not a charity. Then on leaving the same enthusiastic blonde leapt from her seat with a collecting bucket... Luckily it was only an hour long and I emerged into the town centre and went for a drink. Sadly I've had to give it one star solely to send the posting.

Open ground with slightly uneven gravel car park. A small group of us parked here to paddleboard the canal. A 'local' turned up telling us the car park was for 'local' people and proceeded to park across two car widths. Otherwise a good car park, no facilities in the area and 1.9m height barrier, campervan just scraped in! Good area for a walk along the canal though.
