Charleston City Market is a historic 4-block market that has been around for over 200 years. It's a hub for local artisans selling sweetgrass baskets, leather goods, art, and more. The market also offers a variety of food options and fresh farm-to-table produce. The architectural significance of the buildings adds to the charm of this cultural hotspot. Visitors can explore the area and indulge in local cuisine at nearby eateries like Butcher and Bee or Home Team BBQ.
I recently visited the Charleston City Market during my trip to Charleston and really enjoyed the experience. The market is surprisingly long and filled with a wide variety of vendors. There’s just about anything you can think of for sale like local crafts, handmade goods, art, souvenirs, and more. It’s a great place to walk through, browse, and find something unique to take home.
James W — Google review
The Charleston City Market is always a fun stop when visiting the city. There’s a little bit of everything here, so it’s easy to find souvenirs or unique gifts. Prices can be on the higher side, but that’s pretty standard for a tourist spot. On one of my first visits, a kid handed me a palm rose, and before I knew it, a man was chasing me down asking for $5—it gave off a bit of a New York street hustle vibe. The market is usually crowded and can get very hot in the summer, but there’s a small indoor section with food options, air conditioning, and surprisingly clean bathrooms, which was a welcome break.

Love shopping at the Charleston city market! Lots of great Christmas and birthday gift ideas! People are friendly and there is so much to look at. We also took an E-bike ride to the pineapple fountain and enjoyed sitting by the waterfront. Don’t miss a horse-drawn carriage ride around the city, in the evening, complete with spooky ghost stories and delicious restaurants all around. Overall, Charleston is a fun walkable city with lots of history and a fun vibe!
Julie P — Google review
We checked out the Charleston City Market during the week. It was busy so I can only imagine the weekends. There is street parking and multiple lots available. Lots of local vendors and food available. What I like is that the market is covered. Most of it has fans above to try and keep the vendors and shoppers cool. Part of the market is enclosed with air conditioning. We found a few interesting items and tried some of the food. I would suggest checking it out if you make the trip to Charleston.
Andrew I — Google review
A beautifully designed market with a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Partially air-conditioned, featuring charming shops and stalls. The vendors are friendly, not pushy, and very customer-focused. There’s a great variety of products to discover, and plenty of good food options around the market. Definitely worth a visit!
Yassin A — Google review
A wonderful experience! The market is full of talented artists and beautiful handmade items. The vibe was lively and welcoming, and I really enjoyed walking around and taking it all in. Definitely worth a visit when in Charleston!
Kiana T — Google review
This is a must see, local artist, specialty booths and tons of Charleston charm. Had a wonderful time, bought a few Charleston Christmas Ornaments, a few pieces of jewelry and some gifts. The outdoor Market has air-conditioning for those hot days. Would recommend this as a place to visit .
Bonnie S — Google review
It was just okay. I visited 20 years ago and it was much less commercial with more handcrafted arts available. Sadly, other than the baskets and paintings there was very little art and a whole lot of factory made junk. Was so sad that even the sea grass baskets were mass produced and really marked up in price. We loved watching the elders sit on a blanket and weave the baskets, not the vendors are youth playing on their phones chewing gum.

Southern restaurant (US)

Fine dining restaurant
Magnolias, a Charleston classic since 1990, offers a refined twist on traditional Southern cuisine in an elegant setting. The restaurant is beloved by locals for its top-notch lowcountry dishes and attentive service. Seafood takes the spotlight on the menu with authentic options like Lowcountry Bouillabaisse and Spicy Shrimp over grits. Whether it's lunch, Sunday brunch, or dinner, Magnolias delivers southern soul food with a fine-dining experience and tasteful presentation.
Tonight's dinner was @magnoliaschs in the French Quarter of Charleston! I decided to go out and splurge a little. 😂 It is a Lowcountry upscale kitchen. Drink: Grand Fashioned Elijah Craig bourbon, Grand Marnier, orange peel, Angostura bitters, Luxurious cherry App: Down South Egg Roll collard greens, chicken, tasso ham, red pepper purée, spicy mustard, peach chutney Entree: Bourbon BBQ Glazed Pork Chop mac & cheese, collard greens, jalapeño cornbread, honey butter This place was pretty amazing! The drink was exactly what I was looking for. Good flavor and straight to the point. The egg roll tasted so good. You could taste all the individual components in it. The sauces were really complimentary to it. It's really crispy! The pork chop was hands down the best I have ever had. Seasoned perfectly, juicy, and cooked to the perfect medium well. The sauce was nice and sticky. The collards had the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. The mac and cheese was nice and creamy. The cornbread was nice as well. I have no complaints whatsoever. When the waitress came over to ask me how I thought the egg roll was, I dropped it by accident and made a mess. 😂 The atmosphere was amazing. It had a country, old time, and upscale feel. White tablecloths. I REALLY wish I liked seafood.
Jeff — Google review
Southern restaurant with delicious food. The fried green tomato appetizer had a super crisp outside, the tomato itself still had a bite to it and the chutney relish was tangy and delicious. Deviled eggs also very good, hard to go wrong with a deviled egg but this one was very good. The bread service is homemade bread and was warm and crispy, yumm. For mains we had the special fried catfish another hit. Batter was crunchy and the fish was tender and perfectly cooked. , red rice was great and green beans were crisp and brought some freshness to an otherwise heavy dish. The bacon was unnecessary for me as I liked the freshness of the beans and didn’t need that addition. The other main we tried was the blackened catfish. A very different preparation than the special, lightly battered and a little thicker cut. Fish was perfectly cooked and went well with the accompaniments. Every bite we had was great. There were so many other items on the menu we wanted to try we will definitely be back. They have two seating areas, the main area in the front with the bar and a second dining room in the back. Unfortunately we were seated in the back dining room which is banquet hallish. If you can, try to sit in the front room, it has charm and windows and is much more inviting.

Went here on my Birthday weekend and it was great! Prompt service, fresh seafood, and a pleasing ambiance! I had the Blue Crab Bisque and the Lowcountry Bouillabaisse. Both were exceptional and the Firefly Arnold Palmer was delicious. It is a little pricey but I would definitely recommend this to anyone going here that wants a romantic or upscale dining experience. I did make reservations so I'm not sure what walk-in availability is like.
William H — Google review
My wife and I drove to Charleston to see family and Magnolias was on our list of restaurants to try. I'm glad we did, the food alone was worth the trip. My wife had the buttermilk fried chicken and i had the bourbon BBQ pork chop. The service great and I have ZERO complaints about our experience.
Jared S — Google review
While visiting this week we decided we needed a little southern cooking in our lives. We didn’t have a reservation when we popped in. While there were plenty of tables open (they could’ve been waiting on reservations) we were only offered seating at the bar. Many of the tables remained open while we were there. Reese, our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. Service was slow. The fried green tomatoes were amazing! So crispy and flavorful. My friend raved about the fried chicken sandwich. While leaving, the hostess offered someone walking in off the street (without a reservation) a table or the bar. I found that curious.
Gina H — Google review
The Fried Green Tomatoes app is practically an entree in itself... white cheddar & caramelized onion grits, country ham, tomato chutney, tomato butter MY OH MY these are the best FGT that I have ever had! You must try them, so much flavor! For my main course the Parmesan Crusted Market Catch was flounder with creek shrimp & jasmine rice pirloo, warm asparagus, sweet corn & tomato salad, citrus beurre blanc and boy was it spectacular! The Spicy Shrimp & Sausage with tasso gravy, creamy white grits was just as amazing.
Sylvia S — Google review
The food was fantastic. I started with the crab bisque which was excellent and my wife had the watermelon salad (a special) which she said was the best salad she has ever had in her life. I ordered the shrimp and grits which actually had too much black pepper for MY taste but my wife tasted it and loved it. My wife ordered the seafood bouillabaisse which was very very good packed with flavor and tons of different fish and other seafood. We finished with the Red Velvet bread pudding which was topped with a raspberry cheesecake ice cream....this dessert was OUT OF THIS WORLD good. Other than the food, the atmosphere was very nice, and our waitress was wonderful. I will definitely look to come back.
Kenneth M — Google review
My friend and I HAD to visit Magnolias on our recent trip to Charleston. The food was decadent and true southern cuisine. We ordered the fried green tomato appetizer, buffalo chicken salad and low country bouillabaisse. She also opted for the dessert special. All the food was served with generous portions, had excellent flavor and left us both in a food coma. Service was excellent, and we were pleased with the friendliness of the staff. Must try in Charleston💗

Second State Coffee is a popular choice among Charleston's creative community and young crowd, with three serene and charming locations in the city. The coffee bar boasts a minimalist-chic ambiance, offering hot and cold drinks, along with window-bar seating, communal tables, and WiFi. It stands out as the exclusive provider of authentic coffee from Kenya, Guatemala, Ethiopia, and Colombia in Charleston.
I spent Easter weekend in Charleston with my family and came to this shop every morning. It was a quick walk from our hotel, but also very close to the shops and a short walk to Market. The location is great, quiet part of town, you will not find it by walking the tourist areas. The staff was super friendly and welcoming each morning, and they made some create coffee! I got a version of a vanilla flat white each morning. Will definitely be back!

A charming, authentic coffee shop in Charleston’s historic district. The coffee is of good quality. The design is very simple, but bright and clean. It’s a bit cramped, but the great coffee makes up for it. I recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

Hands down the best coffee we had during our trip to Charleston—and we tried quite a few spots! The latte was perfectly made and so flavorful. The staff were friendly and made the place feel genuinely welcoming, like stopping by a friend’s house for coffee. Cozy vibe, great service, and amazing coffee—highly recommend if you’re in the area!

This is one of my favorite cafes in Charleston. I always get my iced matcha with their spiced oat milk! Best banana bread in the city! I am a bit biased as I have spent plenty of time sitting here reading Sarah J Maas…….
Juliet D — Google review
Great coffee taste, it's great to have a perfect cup of Cappuccino and Latte we had in a long time.
Krunal P — Google review
They have nice single origin espresso. They roast their own coffee and have many retail bags of coffee available!
Yee K — Google review
Good coffee, as always. However, the place needs some touch-ups to look as pretty as it used to—especially the floor. I used to love the wooden bench outside. It’s pretty beat up now, too:(
Peter K — Google review
Atmosphere is wonderful and coffee was okay. The WA location coffee tastes slightly better but I’m also likely being overly picky! Unfortunately, the cinnamon roll we bought was completely stale and hard to the point of being inedible (and as someone who is not picky about baked goods, even stale ones, I mean this was truly inedible). Hopefully it was just a fluke but it was a bummer to realize after we left!

The Daily Cafe - King St is a trendy coffeehouse that offers Stumptown brews, cold-pressed juice, beer, and breakfast sandwiches. The cafe's Summer-ish salad is a refreshing take on traditional salads, featuring fresh ingredients like lettuce from Vertical Roots and Cherokee heirloom tomatoes. Additionally, the cafe boasts three murals created by Shepard Fairey and has become known for its Middle Eastern-inspired vegetarian options.
The best coffee and breakfast place!! The 3 egg burritos is just amazing. The lemon coffee and upside down coffee are must try. We had a 30 min wait and tables are fast occupied. Really great outdoor seating! Their almond milk is house made so a definite try.
Kolli S — Google review
We had a second brunch at The Daily. The ordering line was kinda long but we were able to save some seats. The place was pretty radiant with indoor and outdoor seating but this particular day was cold so most people opted to sit inside. We ordered : 1. Whipped feta toast made with fresh baked sourdough top with whipped feta, drizzled with local honey, chives, and cracked black pepper 2. Breakfast sandwich that was so good with bacon, egg, smoked onion jam and pimento cheese and it tasted so good. 3. Spring-ish veggies hash was perfect meal for me with romesco sauce, roasted carrots, mushroom, and bok choy, kale, and over easy egg....so so good. The food came in fair amount of time and someone made sure we had our cups of water filled and our empty plates cleared up. I really like this place and will be back to try out their coffees.
Patricia ( — Google review
The daily has always been one of my favorites in Charleston! I went both Saturday & Sunday this weekend and got the 3 egg burrito on gluten free corn tortillas, the avocado toast on gluten free sourdough with egg and bacon, and a pumpkin Americano. Insane. The pumpkin is the best I’ve ever had- it tastes just like fall and it is sweet without being overpowering or too sweet. We were able to grab a table outside and our food came out extremely fast. Such a great spot for a casual bite to eat or coffee after a good workout or a long run downtown! Will be back again and again and again.

Definitely my go 2 place for breakfast here in Charleston! From the amazing staff at this location in CHS makes me keep coming back! From Mark the general manager and Mark the head chef to all the staff have done an amazing job with going above and beyond with the customer service they provide! The Food is amazing every time I eat here. Consistent through and through! I highly recommend coming and dining here! You won't be disappointed at all. Breakfast sandwich, BLT, chocolate chip cookie, and the avocado toast are a few of my favorite things and a must try!
Jerry J — Google review
We came here on a Saturday for brunch and had a little bit of a WAIT. It's a counter service restaurant and seating is kind of scarce and FCFS. If you hang out long enough, you'll get a seat. Food: We ordered the stacked avocado toast and the yogurt bowl. Both were tasty and fresh. If you're REALLY hungry, the yogurt bowl may need some accompaniment. The avocado toast had a lot going on, but it actually worked well. The yogurt wasn't overly sweet and for most it's satisfying. Service: The interaction was just with the counter service person. They were friendly and quick. Ambiance: It's a cozy space that can feel constrained but it's not a huge deal. The colors and the decoration are all pretty cool. Overall we enjoyed it here. We prefer table reservation but that's not always feasible or realistic. If you come here on a weekend, expect a little wait, but the food and the service were great. I can see us coming back again.
PJ B — Google review
Another great breakfast place in town. Decent section for outdoors seating - a little dirty though.
Joseph R — Google review
We are visiting from Wisconsin on our honeymoon and decided to stop into The Daily because the atmosphere looked really cool and inviting. We walked a ton on our trip and finally decided to stop in for a coffee. The space itself is modern, clean, and has a great vibe that definitely draws people in. However, we were honestly shocked that two lattes came out to nineteen dollars. That just feels way too high, especially with so many other great coffee spots in the area offering similar quality drinks at more reasonable prices. We understand that everything costs more these days, but this was a bit much for what we received. The drinks were not hot enough and lacked the rosemary flavor. The competition around this place is strong and, in our opinion, more affordable without losing any of the experience or quality. This is just our honest and true feedback from two coffee lovers traveling through Charleston.
Ethan H — Google review
Honestly kinda disappointed in the coffee. I got the new Apple pie latte but it’s just milky with no flavor. I don’t even think they put the shot of espresso in and my coffee was barely warm. My husband got the golden milk and it’s hot and flavorful. We went during a slow time too so I’m not sure where the hiccup happened. Not worth $20 for two cups of coffee.

Vintage Coffee Cafe is a charming and aesthetically pleasing coffee shop located in Mount Pleasant. The warm earthy tones, minimalistic white walls, and art pieces create a delightful ambiance. The cafe offers a cozy backyard area with shaded picnic tables, a playground, and firepits for wholesome family fun. It's an ideal spot for daytime meetings, coffee dates, study sessions, or simply relaxing.
Great place to stop for some coffee products or breakfast items. My cold brew was excellent and a good price too. The açaí bowl looked amazing as well as a bagel, egg, ham and cheese sandwich I saw. Was nice to see a lot of the younger generation working in this place and forging a good work ethic for their future. Come out and support your local coffee shops and avoid chains! I highly recommend this place! Easter Sunday Update…thank you for being open on Easter Sunday. Of course fire the cold brew again but also got the farm fresh egg sandwich. Soooo Good!!! Thank you

Cute coffee shop in Mt.Pleasant with pretty fast service and this place also carries other drinks like sparkling water, teas, and some other knick knacks. It has outdoor and indoor seating and lot to park your car which is acros the street parking next to the property.

Cute coffee and breakfast place. Our food was very good and to a higher standard than your average breakfast sandwich cafe menu. My daughters got the açaí bowl and the Nutella toast. They loved theirs as well.
Brooklyn D — Google review
I was much gratified to find my cappuccino here presented in a wide mug rather than the paper cup so commonly employed, even when one takes it within. There is a certain dignity and richness imparted to the drink when served thus which is lost when in a paper cup. The scone, though fashioned more in the American than the English manner, was nevertheless of pleasing quality and did not disappoint.
B A — Google review
Everything was so good and the presentation was immaculate. The service was pretty quick too considering how busy it was! The lox bagel was a large portion and I ate the other half for lunch
Helen Z — Google review
Influencers have made vintage popular but it is extremely overhyped and the service is miserable. I just waited over an hour for my food, yes it is a Saturday, but their team handled this situation horribly. I came inside to remind them 3 separate times that I was waiting on my food, and was brushed off the first two. Finally I flagged down one of the food runners and she told me they would start making it. Clearly they had forgotten our meal. When the food was brought out, the sever said “next time you come in we will take care of you. Our manager is very busy right now.” If you are going to be that busy, hire adequate staff to be able to provide at least decent service. Not to mention the food was cold and my egg was not cooked through. I have never written a google review before but this experience was so terrible I had to say something. I am Extremely disappointed and I will never return to vintage coffee.

This has been our favourite coffee place in Mount Pleasant with kids. The playground in the garden is great...and so is the service and high quality cappuccino. If we ever come back to the Charleston area, this place would be our favourite spot for starting the day with a good coffee.

Super fast service, and the line out the door says it all, for good reason! Their bagels are absolutely incredible. Coming from someone born and raised in Long Island, NY, I can honestly say they made me feel like I was back home. It’s rare to find this kind of quality in the South. Highly recommend!!!

The Rise Coffee Bar is a trendy cafe located within The Restoration Hotel, just off the bustling King Street in Charleston. Despite its small size and limited seating, it's a popular spot for locals and visitors to grab artisanal coffees from locally-sourced Springbok Coffee Roasters, along with espresso drinks, tea, cold-pressed juices, and baked goods. With its stylish yet understated ambiance, it's considered one of Charleston's top coffee shops.
Great coffee and excellent vibe/decor. Small area inside but an outside garden space which is an oasis in Charleston. Lots of students from the nearby college studying and chatting which is always a good sign. Can recommend the cinnamon bun which was superb 👌

Very upbeat and up to date coffee place. The rosemary rise was very good, as well as the blueberry scone. The front room is good for lots of light, and study area. Take the door inside and you will find a nice seating area that is very cozy along with the restrooms. Thanks!

Really neat space! Coffee was great! The atmosphere was very modern but also minimalistic in the best way possible! Staff was positive! The whole place is just a vibe! Coffee lovers / Coffee shop lovers should definitely swing by if visiting or a local!

I have never been to a coffee shop where there were only two people in front of me and I waited for 30 minutes on a Sunday morning. This is some of the worst service I have EVER gotten at a coffee shop. I watched my drink on the counter for 30 minutes without the girls doing it in order so people behind me got theirs and I didn’t get my drinks together. Seemed really disorganized and not good service. I will not be coming back.

Great spot! I was looking for a coffee shop where I could study and this place was perfect. Lots of space to find a spot to work/study. Added bonus, the food was really good! Burger had pimento cheese, bacon, jam and pickles - it was spot on. The Caesar salad dressing was super light. Will definitely return in the future.

We enjoyed our breakfast and the service was good. I ordered the Buddha bowl and added grilled chicken. It was very tasty! My husband ordered the fried chicken biscuit and said that it was very good. Our lattes were really good too!

☕️ Mercantile & Mash is such a cool spot in downtown Charleston. The vibe is chic and laid-back — perfect for catching up with friends or getting some work done. I tried the honey latte and it was amazing — just the right amount of sweetness with smooth, rich espresso. The space itself has a modern-industrial feel with lots of natural light, and there’s always a nice buzz without being too loud. It’s one of those places where you instantly feel comfortable. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to when I’m in the area.

A must-visit in Charleston! Mercantile and Mash blew me away. From the moment you walk into this beautifully restored historic building, you're met with a vibe that blends charm and intentional design. There’s plenty of seating, and it’s not just functional. It’s varied and inviting, with spaces perfect for studying, casual meetups, or just kicking back and relaxing. It somehow manages to feel both open and cozy at the same time. The coffee options are top tier. Thoughtfully crafted and clearly made with care. I had a layered espresso drink that not only tasted amazing but looked gorgeous too. The buffalo chicken sandwich was the real deal. Crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. The menu overall offers great variety, from smoothies to pastries to hearty breakfast and lunch options. One of the standout details was the bathroom setup. Multiple individual stalls that are private and super convenient, especially for a busier place like this. That kind of detail really shows they care about the customer experience. The Mercantile side of the shop is equally impressive. You can browse everything from curated wines to snacks, specialty meats, and gift-worthy local goods. It’s like a high-end market tucked into your favorite café. Service was excellent. Friendly, helpful staff who kept the line moving without making anything feel rushed. I could’ve hung out here all day. Charleston is lucky to have this place. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Mercantile and Mash is worth a visit. Every time.

Visiting from Florida. LOVE THIS SPOT. SUPER CUTE. GREAT VIBE, GREAT SERVICE. Bought a box of black squid ink pasta, and some other goodies! I’m not a big breakfast bowl person BUT THIS was The BEST breakfast bowl I ever had! I didn’t want it to end lol Farm fresh eggs were creamy, bowl was seasoned to perfection, with in-house made sausage. Also in-house made syrups for coffee, cookies were HUGE and SO GOOOD! Wish o had this near where I live.
Mollie M — Google review
Great work-from-home/study spot. They recommended certain substitutions for my matcha latte, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had! I also tried their limited edition jalapeño bacon egg and cheese bagel. Outside seating was amazing, and there was plenty of parking.

The food was 10/10! The peanut butter cookies were incredible and the staff was really nice! It was hard to find available seating and it was pretty loud but we went during the busy lunch hours.

I used to love this place to do work. But unfortunately now there is a butcher that is cutting meat constantly and the machine is the most obnoxious sound I have ever heard in my life that echoes throughout the building. It’s absolutely ridiculous and I’m never coming back.

The Harbinger Cafe & Bakery, located on King Street, offers a cozy atmosphere and a menu featuring inventive breakfast and lunch options, as well as an array of baked goods. The cafe serves Greenville-based Methodical Coffee, setting it apart from other daytime destinations in Charleston. With a focus on health-conscious fare, the cafe provides vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Customers can enjoy their meal in the charming interior or on the sweet back patio.
Wow, what a great find. A true hidden gem. Enjoyed the breakfast sandwich very much but the friendly staff and the carefully curated decor made a huge impression. I brought my two small dogs and was welcomed with open arms. Sat on the shaded patio out back on a beautiful day and felt like I was in another, more civilized country. I will be back!

On our way out of Charleston, our group stopped in for breakfast. I got the avocado toast and my husband got the quiche. I really enjoyed my dish. The peanuts and spicy sauce made it feel a little extra. I also got a cold brew and it was delicious. My husband didn’t like his dish as much. He said it was a little bland and the salad that came with it was dry. Overall I loved the atmosphere and it was a good place to stop on our way out.

This Cafe is cool. I know thats such a short, overused descriptor but I can't think of any other place in Charleston that has this vibe. I feel like I am in a college town rom-com. Every quirky detail carefully considered and artfully placed. Even the baristas had the very Gen Z lack of care that felt almost too sterotypical to be real. The food was fantastic and presentation was beautiful. I arrived late in the day for breakfast so I missed out on using the "real" mugs but the use of dishes, mugs, and silverware that could've come out of my grandma's kitchen was a special touch. The drip coffee was okay but their latte was heavenly. Highly recommend the specialty drinks over the standard cup. Will be back! Happy to have found this gem not far from my office 🤩

We are visiting from Wisconsin on our honeymoon and stopped at Harbinger Café this morning, and they absolutely crushed it. The lattes were so good!!!!!! I got the honey latte and my wife had the maple, and both were delicious and perfectly made. The quiche was out of this world. I tried a bite from my wife’s plate and was blown away by how flavorful and fluffy it was. She could not stop smiling the entire time we sat inside enjoying breakfast and our coffees. The granola bowl was another standout with fresh apples, berries, and fruit that made every bite so tasty and refreshing. The café itself is beautiful, warm, and cozy, and it actually goes back farther than you’d expect with plenty of comfortable seating. Everything about this place felt thoughtful and relaxed, and it was the perfect way to start our day in Charleston.

I love the Harbinger because their cold brew gets me ZOOTED. My favorite treat is the Cha Cha Cha Chia, dense but soft and chewy bar with yummy frosting. I like trying their lunch trios. They change the lunch often and keep it interesting. The atmosphere is welcoming and I like their seating outside in the back. Parking is tricky in this area but always worth it. It’s a short walk from Habitat for Humanity, so it’s nice to grab a coffee and go thrift shopping!

This is one of the best cafes i have been to in charleston! We got there right when it opened and everything was made fresh! I loved all the bakery options, from your basic chocolate chip cookie to treats with all sorts of different things in it! The coffee was also really great and so was the breakfast sandwich i had. If it wouldn’t have had the sauce that was on it, it would’ve been bad. But that sauce, oh my god it was glorious 💋 I can’t wait to come back and try all of the other different bakery items and things on the menu!

My husband and I came here for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up while vacationing in Charleston. The drinks were amazing, the food was delicious, the service was great, and the atmosphere was inviting. Would definitely come here again!

Very cute and comfortable spot… service was great and quick given how busy they were at 830am. Got the numeric chai latte and it was really good. Too creamy for my liking (not a knock to them) but the flavor is amazing. Highly recommend

Babas on Cannon is a European-style cafe located in Charleston, offering a relaxed atmosphere with a patio and a charming ambiance. The cafe serves a variety of light bites, coffee, and cocktails. Guests can enjoy espresso, matcha, and iced coffee along with house-made peanut milk. The menu also includes steeped-to-order chai tea lattes, quiche, pickled shrimp salad, and an espresso martini that takes 24 hours to make.
The coffee here was amazing! I keep thinking about it, I am obsessed with the peanut mocha I got. I also had their breakfast burrito which was a good size. My friend also got their honey latte and it was perfectly sweet and made with local honey. Everyone was really sweet and helpful. It was busy so we sat by the window, but there’s free WiFi which is convenient. Overall loved it!

Great atmosphere and super friendly staff. Limited seating inside and outside but it seems like a hot spot! Their sandwiches and salads looked amazing as I saw them going out but I thoroughly enjoyed my cortado with their house made syrup. The vibe is lively and it seemed like a good place for a date, to study or grab something to go. I look forward to coming back to try their food!

I absolutely loved this place when I visited Charleston this month. I tried the Peanut Mocha (hot) and it was so delicious. It wasn’t “too sweet”, it was made just right. The service was also great and fast, we didn’t have to wait too long for our drinks. Super cute spot that’s worth checking out if you are in the area.

Delightful. (European-style) turkey club 8/10. Pistachio and Parmesan salad 10/10. Sparkling limeade 9/10. Expect a line and you won’t be disappointed. There’s an impressive number of table options (indoor/outdoor), including standing tables to accommodate regular rushes.

WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! I had about two daiquiris before I started to remember all that my ex wife put me through…but luckily Will was there with his kind, tender presence to sit with me in my time of need. She really was a piece of work, it’s like like I’m sorry but your sister came on to me 🫡 Anyways great drinks, cool atmosphere!

Stop by this quaint coffee shop if you are ready to consume the best banana bread of your life. The coffee was also amazing, brewing counter culture- my favorite! Best of all, their vibey atmospheric house music playlist was fire. Wish I was a local to come here every morning.

What an incredible spot. We came here FOUR times on our weekend trip because we loved it so much. It’s great for a light breakfast, or fun cocktails and shareable dinner plates. The service is exceptional, the vibes are immaculate and the food is as close to perfect as it gets. Lots of little special details. Highly recommend the potato soup, the whipped espresso and the banana bread. All of the pastries are exceptional.

Cafe
Nestled in the heart of Mount Pleasant, Owlbear Cafe is a delightful spot that perfectly blends comfort and charm. This inviting eatery offers a cozy atmosphere where you can savor delicious meals crafted from locally sourced ingredients. Whether you're looking to enjoy a picturesque lunch, meet with clients, or unwind with friends over artisan coffee and board games, this cafe has it all.
Update: I just wanted to provide an update for future customers. I was contacted regarding my recent experience, and he was very apologetic. He made a genuine effort to correct the issue, and I’m pleased to share that the online menu has now been updated to avoid any future confusion. As I mentioned before, I’m typically used to having a pleasant experience when I visit, and I hope this was just a one-off situation I’ve been a fan of Owlbear for a while, but after my most recent visit, I’m not sure I’ll be back. The food has always been delicious in the past, but this time was a huge disappointment. I made the mistake of ordering off the online menu instead of in-store, and the menu was updated. The bowl I received was lacking in both flavor and presentation, which was a stark contrast to what I had come to expect. The potatoes(it used to be sweet potatoes) were undercooked and crunchy and the sunny side eggs were overcooked. The kale, which appeared to be arugula due to stems, were more stems than greens and there was maybe 2 drops of chimichurri sauce. Everything was just lacking for a $15 breakfast bowl. When I returned to the restaurant to voice my concerns(to be fair, I only informed them of the potatoes and handed them the bowl), I was informed of the menu change, but that didn’t excuse the quality of the food. As a “fix,” they simply added more undercooked potatoes on top of my original bowl, which did little to improve the dish. To top it all off, when I went back to my car and came in to check on my order, I found my to-go box sitting open on a table by the door. It wasn’t even held behind the counter or sealed properly. It was just left unsupervised, which was an incredibly careless move. Overall, this last experience left a really bad impression. I had hoped for better, especially after several enjoyable visits, but this visit was a letdown in both food and service.

Since we were nearby we decided to give this a try. Walking in we were unsure as to what the procedure was for dining in. The counter is cluttered with high objects and we could see a small open space at the end where there was a register but did not know if we should wait to be seated or what. No one looked up or greeted us as the gaggle of young ladies behind the counter were busy talking and giggling. I walked to the register and stood there watching them….and waited. Finally one glanced over and I said we’d never been there before, what was the procedure if we wanted to sit down. Okay then, menus hung on the wall to my right, order, given a number then pick a table. I explained that I’d never had a coffee with a design and was that possible? (I’d seen the pictures on Google with actual coffee cups and designs) Yes the young lady assured me she’d have them make me something special. Please see attached photo for what I received. Not an actual cup or design. I did see several other guests receive their lattes in regular coffee cups with nice designs…I must say the avocado toast was excellent.

Absolutely delightful! The food and coffee were excellent, staff were lovely, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The menu offers a range from standard cafe fare to some fun, unique options. We liked this place so much we had to stop by twice during our short trip to Charleston.

Menu options were not traditional in a good way. Excellent options and the brie, apple, honey and prosciutto panini I got was excellent. Cortado was really good too. Waffle was good but not enough fruit in my opinion. Liked that we had game options and could just hangout.
Rodrigo A — Google review
I've been coming here a lot in the mornings after taking my dog to the beach while I lived here and when I first went here about 2ish years ago, it was amazing. Since then, the quality of food has steadily dropped. I came here for breakfast about 2 days before I write this review. While the coffee was decent, it seems like the café has begun cost cutting of sorts. The breakfast sandwiches no longer use the sauce they once used, the loaded avocado bowl now uses spinach and regular potatoes rather than kale and sweet potato, as well as now using one less egg (I checked other photos to verify this was an actual change and not just someone inexperienced making the food incorrectly). The quality of the coffee hasn't changed and it is still fairly good. It may have been a very off day when I visited, but the quality has dropped too much for me not to leave a review over it. I will still consider going for coffee, but I would rather cook something nicer at home for a cheaper price and higher quality.
Juliette B — Google review
I used to come here weekly since the location is close to IOP. I had to stop because they were always consistently busy but with 2-3 drinks ahead of me they always take 20 minutes. The staff is so slow and not focused. Came here last week after 6 months of not coming and it was worse. The coffee was not the same quality (my latte tasted watery) and they are obviously cutting costs. People will pay for good quality but it’s not with the long wait times to get disappointing coffee and mediocre customer service. This last time when I asked the barista where my drink was after watching 3 people who ordered after me get both their drinks and food, she responded like I was an issue and just gave me the excuse that she asked someone to get her more oat milk. She barely apologized when I got my drink. Maybe don’t make drinks out of order? Poor management is showing.
Liz W — Google review
What a lovely small cafe. Clean and cute, and the staff was super helpful and patient while I tried to figure out what I wanted. Lol. They have boats games in the back in case you want to entertain yourself. I had the avocado toast with prosciutto and egg on it. Very tasty, and beautifully done on the plate. They served me a delicious coffee and water with my meal, and didn’t use any plastic anything on the table. Real glass, mug, silverware….that is so refreshing and environmentally aware. Thank you.

Clerks Coffee Company is a popular coffee shop located in Charleston's French Quarter, known for its delicious coffee, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches. The cafe features modern and minimalist design with a sun-filled space in the lobby of the Hotel Emeline. Patrons can enjoy a variety of coffee options including lattes, mochas, espressos, French press coffee, and double shot cups with various toppings. The clutter-free decor and wooden upholstery create an inviting atmosphere.
Clerks Coffee is an absolute gem in Charleston! The space is so cute with charming decor that makes you want to stay awhile. I ordered a matcha and loved that they have a little station where you can add your own honey—such a nice touch and truly premium quality. The seating area is cozy and inviting, and the service was super friendly. Definitely worth the walk!

Stopped by Clerks Coffee Company in Charleston and tried their dirty chai—honestly, it was one of the better ones I’ve had. My wife got a matcha and she loved it too. Both drinks were smooth, well-balanced, and flavorful. Only downside was that they forgot my order, and I had to check in to get it made. Not a huge deal, but it did take away from the overall experience a bit. That said, the drinks made up for the wait. Would definitely go back.
James O — Google review
The food rating is ONLY in reference to their coffee because all I got from the place was an iced coffee. The service was fantastic. Friendly, quick, and professional. The atmosphere is also standout as the area was clean and the furniture/seating was very aesthetically pleasing. The coffee I got was only bad from a preference standpoint. It is the type of coffee that is citrusy, and I do not personally prefer that. Price was about $14 for two lattes.

We came in from the rain with my my friends and wanted warm lattes. Although I requested a coffee cup, it was initially served in a paper cup, but they switched it for us. My friend's lavender latte was overly sweet; I should have asked for half sweet since I wasn't sure how it would taste. Next time, I’ll be more prepared and keep my expectations low to avoid disappointment.

I will be back here when I’m back in town. I was visiting with my family and we needed to cool off with a refreshing drink. This place was perfect!!! It was exactly what I craved and the staff was super sweet. They gave the prefect recommendations and were overall super helpful. The environment was relaxing had plenty of comfortable seating. The decor was beautiful and classy. If you are in the area or just visiting I HIGHLY recommend you try this place. I ordered the blueberry cobbler latte iced and got it at half sweetness and it was perfect!!!

(I ordered Americano and I don't remember exactly who order which coffee but all looks satisfied.) There is a big Christmas tree (we visited on Christmas eve) which I loved! During my recent culinary exploration, I stumbled upon King Street Foods, and it was a delightful surprise! This cozy spot offers an inviting atmosphere with around twenty tables, perfect for a casual dining experience. The menu features fresh sushi that boasts an impressive rice-to-fish ratio—think large pieces of fish paired with delicate rice. I also enjoyed their vibrant green salad topped with ginger dressing, which was both refreshing and generous in portion size.
Great Thai Spot in Charleston! The chicken basil (kra pao) was super tasty, the drunken noodles were delicious, and the fried rice was full of flavor. The green curry was just okay, but the sushi surprisingly turned out really good too! The service was excellent. They are very friendly and welcoming. The place is clean with a nice atmosphere. If you’re craving Thai food in Charleston, definitely check this place out!

We came during lunchtime expecting a wait but when we opened the door there was nobody else eating, which obviously I red flag when eating on a beautiful sunny day in Charleston. Anyway we decided to go in and try it out. I am glad we did as it was very good food and the service was great.

What a delight finding this please. it offers a range of Asian food but I had the Tonkatsu Pork Ramen. It was really tasty and had a generous serving of pork. A couple of dashes of chilli powder made it perfect for me. Service was exemplary.

My husband and I stopped in for a late night dinner. We were stunned by how big the sushi roll was as most rolls I’ve seen are puny. It was incredibly delicious and the perfect amount for the both of us!! The prices are very reasonable too and it tasted so fresh. It’s great bang for your buck. We will likely drop by again before we head back home to Texas!

I was looking for a sushi dinner and usually shy away from mixed nationality restaurants when good sushi is my goal. That said, I tried King Street Foods due to all the positive reviews and was very happy with everything I experienced. Green salad with ginger dressing was very fresh and large. Sushi was fresh and had a great rice to fish ratio, meaning fish pieces were large and rice was skinny. The service was great! As to the atmosphere, it is an informal smallish venue. Maybe twenty tables. They do have a 7 seat bar, with full bar offerings...thumbs up! I didn't go for the atmosphere, so it wasn't important to me. Everything was very clean and the servers were very good about cleaning up after patrons departed. The couple next to me at the bar seemed to enjoy their hibachi. I only ate the sushi option, which was great!

We had ramen and sushi here with a group of friends — everything was absolutely delicious! The flavors were on point, portions generous, and the vibe of the place was really chill and welcoming. Service was quick and friendly too. If you’re in Charleston and craving sushi or ramen — this is the spot. We loved it!

This place is absolutely magnificent. The food is fresh, tasty and the employees here are so kind & helpful. My husband and I come here every year as tradition. Totally recommend it! Plz support them. The chicken wings are complete fire and fresh, the sweet and savory seasoning/batter is amazing. And the Pineapple fried rice is one of a kind and delicious. Thank you!

Our server Sammy was super sweet! Salmon sashimi was super fresh and delightful! My son loved his chicken pad Thai. We enjoyed our tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, and avocado roll as well. Nice presentation and all dishes were delicious. We will have to return to Charleston, SC to try their signature bingsu shaved iced next time! Highly recommend if you are looking for good sushi and some Thai food!
