Trattoria Antiche Carampane is a charming, family-run restaurant in the San Polo area of Venice that has been serving authentic Venetian cuisine for over a century. The cozy atmosphere and decor adorned with photos create an intimate and picturesque setting reminiscent of old Venice. The menu features a focus on fresh seafood, including dishes like spider crab tagliatelle, fish carpaccio, grilled octopus, creamed codfish, soft shell crabs, and frutti di mare.
One of the best meals we had in Venice! We are foodies from Brooklyn and we’ve had our fair share of delicious dinners. Don’t miss the grilled octopus, and the rest of the meal was very well prepared. It was a very full and somewhat noisy restaurant, and service could be a bit slow, but in our opinion worth it and overall highly enjoyable.
Michael H — Google review
Love this restaurant. Booked for lunch, was seated outdoors in a quiet and breezy alley. Food was spectacular, seafood was so fresh. Loved their glasswares too! Highly recommend and do book in advance.
A M — Google review
An excellent restaurant in Venice, recommended to me by a local. I’m glad I’d made a reservation to dine here. The food was delicious and the environment delightful. I had cuttlefish with polenta, a glass of wine and tiramisu for dessert. I also shared an antipasto - a selection of fish/seafood.
Alex — Google review
Awesome lunch spot with affordable wines by the glass to enjoy. Fried seafood platter was very delicious you can tell the quality of seafood used. Also highly recommend getting the crab pasta the flavours were on point!
Jackson H — Google review
Went on a recommendation from a friend. Very nice, tucked out of the way on a quiet alley. I had high expectations. Not sure about the Michelin rating, I expected a bit more attentive service only because of that, but I am spoiled in that sense. Food was very good. They sent reminders of my reservation several times. Interior was nicely done. This is a small restaurant, you would need a reservation.

One of the classic Trattorie in Venice, mentioned in many guides and highly recommended. Pictures of celebrities on the walls (Woody Allen, Lionel Messi and so on) but none of the pictures are from recently. Fun fact: „ Carampane“ used to be the prostitutes you could find around here when this part of town was the red light district. Have a good look at the logo of the Trattoria and you will notice the reference. They serve only sea food, daily dishes dependent on what’s available at the Mercato Rialto nearby. We had the mixed sea food salad for starters, then the fried mixed seafood and the monkfish (that was a daily dishes). The kids had spaghetti with tomato sauce at 18 EUR (!) per dish not much else for kids. Quality was ok, the monkfish was dry though and some of the fried fish had an odd soapy taste. Service was friendly but not warm. The Interieur is classy, clean and you feel the history of the place.
T D — Google review
Came for dinner and it was delicious. We received a welcome fried ball that was delicious. We ordered the grilled octopus (very good), fried shrimp and calamari (the wasabi mayo was yum), and a pasta dish in crab sauce. The restaurant is cozy. Highly recommend.
QC — Google review
Huge disappointment. Pretty presentation, but bland food, cold service, and when I dared say the swordfish in the pasta was dry, the manager (I think?) was just offended and told me it was made that morning and everyone likes it. The pasta itself was not particularly flavorful, nor was the sauce. The frito misto my husband ordered was fine but nothing incredible, and way overpriced for what it was at 35 €. Red wine by the glass selection was very low quality and served way too warm! Room temperature wine in August at this type of restaurant?? The glass of local Venitian white Tai was very nice, as was the foccacia. This place was recommended by Conde Nast Traveller, and has pictures of a few famous people on the walls, but seems to have become a tourist trap! We’ve had a great number of amazing meals in Venice with incredible service, but this was all the opposite.

Al Covo is a charming, rustic-style restaurant in Venice that has been owned by the same family since 1987. The menu focuses on Venetian and Veneto regional cuisines, offering refined and updated classics. The atmosphere strikes a balance between fine dining and a relaxed family restaurant, with outdoor seating available on warmer days.
Visiting the beautiful city of Venice is amazing. The history, architecture and plenty of restaurants to choose from. That said, I am thrilled that I did my research as we dined for my husband’s birthday at Al Covo, and I will say it did not disappoint. Our whole experience was delightful. It began with amazing service from everyone we were in contact with. The meal was delicious from start to finish. Our server Richard was a particular stand out with helpful suggestions, kindness and wit. Beautiful food, amazing staff and a lovely atmosphere made this the trifecta. Grazie mille!
The F — Google review
Good food and service for dinner. Glad we were able to check it out after watching it on an old Anthony Bordain episode. Stands the test of time! Cozy and warm atmosphere inside although they also offer outdoor seating if available. One of our pasta dishes was a little too salty for my taste but the raw seafood and seafood in general was amazing, especially the calamari. Be sure to ask for the specials and what they may be out of before you decide what you want to order. We made reservations about 6 to 8 weeks ahead to ensure our reservation. Solid Venetian cuisine!
Sam T — Google review
We did not have reservations here, but they quickly set a table for us outside. The service was excellent and the food outstanding! We had the specials, starting with the gnocchi with baby squid - it melted in your mouth. Our main dishes, the tuna stacked with eggplant and a local fish, both beautifully presented and equally delicious. We ended with some dessert wines and a grappa semifredo. It was strong but also very good. Highly recommend Al Covo for a fantastic dinner!
Tania V — Google review
I made a reservation here in September and enjoyed my experience overall. I ordered a peach bellini, which I typically don't order, but it sounded really refreshing on a warm day. It came with fresh peaches in the glass which was a delicious touch. They brought over a small bite from the chef that was an egg salad sandwiched in between bread. It was good but not great. I ordered the rock crab that came with a small serving of sauce on the side and it was delicious. With that being said, there were quite a few shell pieces left in the crab meat. If there was only a couple, I wouldn't say anything, but there was a considerable amount. For the main course I ordered the octopus gnocchi. The gnocchi was tender, but the flavors didn't seem to go together very well. The service and atmosphere were decent. Overall, it was a good experience, but I'm not sure that I would return to try something else.

Just eaten at Al Covo. We had a fantastic meal. Delightful location not far from St Marks Square. A good choice of food, especially if you like fish. I opted for sole and my wife chose a beautiful pasta dish. A great choice of wine from the local regions. Topped off with a cheesecake to die for. The recommendations for Al Covo are well deserved
Darren R — Google review
Lived up to the recommendations! The food is soo fresh and creative, I enjoyed all of it! I booked this a two weeks in advance and could only get a lunch time so book early! I had the beetroot ravioli - it was perfect summer lunch dish. It was fresh with the poppy seeds and light. I also got the hummus with local vegetables, also good, I was surprised the vegetables were still hot but good nonetheless
Stephanie D — Google review
Fresh and delicious restaurant with good service. Everything was delicious! We ordered the delicious crudo appetizer and 3 different pasta dishes. Black ink, prawn, and mussels. They served us snails in garlic and parsley as an amuse bouche. It was tender, so clean tasting, and delicious. At the end, we had to order another mussels pasta. It was that good! I recommend to make reservations. There’s an 8Euro charge per person for sit down in the restaurant. That’s the only downside.
SteakEm A — Google review
This restaurant honestly was one of the best we’ve ever visited - excellent, very traditional Venetian style food with an emphasis on locally sourced seafood - top ingredients beautifully presented with a touch of old fashioned decadence. The sommelier was outstanding and even offered to change a bottle of bubbly even though we had already drunk from it. Features in one of Anthony Bourdaine’s food shows - very rightly so. Absolutely loved it.

Vini da Gigio is a refined, family-run trattoria in Venice that is well-known for its classic Venetian dishes and an extensive wine list. It's recommended as a great place for a sit-down meal, offering traditional Venetian cuisine enriched with unusual ingredients. The restaurant is famous for its masorini (wild duck) and moeche (soft-shelled crabs available in spring or fall).
We had a wonderful experience. The food was very good, the crab pasta was outstanding. This is a real restaurant owned and operated by a family which is un uncommon in Venice.
Francis G — Google review
We had an unforgettable dinner at Vini da Gigio in Cannaregio. The octopus with pumpkin was absolutely delicious, the tagliolini with spider crab was a true revelation, and the linguine Malamocchina style had a perfectly balanced, slightly spicy kiclllpWhat really impressed us was how this meal felt like an escape from the overly touristic side of Venice — here we enjoyed genuine, authentic Italian food that exceeded our expectations. My wife and I were thrilled with everything we tasted. No surprise that locals recommended this restaurant to us — and we couldn’t agree more. Highly recommended!
NIKOLAOS T — Google review
A warm, elegant restaurant perfect for a special dinner — we celebrated our anniversary here. The staff were incredibly kind, especially our waiter, who turned out to be married to a Turkish flight attendant and chatted with us warmly. Everything we tried was delicious: oysters, grilled octopus with pumpkin, baby calamari, and crab pasta. Two glasses of white wine, tiramisu, and prosecco to finish — the meal cost €132, and it was worth every cent. Refined yet unpretentious — one of the best dining experiences we had in Venice.
Ozge U — Google review
Had an awesome experience in this typic venetian restaurant. Ambiance was great and service really amicable. Food was really good and wine selection is exhaustive. Perfect restaurant away from the crowds and perfect if you’re looking for an authentic experience.
Lola — Google review
I came here because I was looking to have an experience with the fegato alla veneziana AKA venetian style liver and onions and found them highly recommended through my Google research. Honestly, it was a life changing meal - I never knew liver and onions could taste this good. The liver was so soft and flavorful. With that said, I usually do enjoy liver, and my fiance who hates liver tried it and noticed it was good but he still didn't like the texture/ taste of the organ meat as he kept chewing it. My fiance had a pasta dish - perfectly cooked. The table bread was better than it looked, but it doesn't come with any butter or oil, so I used the bread with my delicious dish to soak up all the flavor and enjoy it more fully. I'm not a big dessert person, but the tiramisu was very good also. The service was excellent! We were very lucky to get there last open table without reservations as we rushed to get there right when they opened, but probably would recommend having a reservation ahead of time as we watched them turn away several unreserved customers while we were eating.
Natalie P — Google review
Returning here after more than 30 years, we were delighted that Vini da Gigio is still run by the same family and the food is still wonderful. Everything is done well: sardines in saor, tagliatelle with truffles, the fritti Misti is a triumph - not showy just sparkling fresh and fabulous. Order sole al brachio and they take it off the bone for you in the traditional way. Lovely bread, fairly priced wine and above all the great atmosphere of a well run restaurant that continues to care about food, customers and Venice. One of the best!
Lynne F — Google review
My husband and I love this restaurant. After regularly visiting Venice for many years, and having a number of favourite restaurants, we found Vini da Gigio a year or so ago, after some careful research to add somewhere new to our regular list - we’ve always loved Cannaregio sestriere, though more recently we’ve been getting to know San Polo. Vini da Gigio is splendid; the food is wonderful (one of the few places that can tempt me to 3 courses - and my husband to the full 4!) - I literally still think about a beautiful stuffed gnocchi I had last year! The wine list is magnificent - we really love wine and being able to enjoy wines that may not be available to us in the UK. We’ve always had excellent service and, in particular, enjoyed really interesting conversations with the owner’s son and the opportunity to learn more about the culture and cuisine of Venice - which is, for us, the most important aspect of the privilege of travel. This has become a special place for my husband and I. We are looking forward to savouring another leisurely lunch when we are next in Venice. Highly recommended.
Jude M — Google review
The most average restaurant I’ve been to in my entire life, and for 80€ per person. Wouldn’t recommend a single thing I had. Maybe the oysters and the wine, but they didn’t really have to do much with those. The service was good though.

Poste Vecie is a classic Venetian restaurant located next to the Rialto Market in Venice. Housed in a former post office dating back to the 16th century, this fine-dining seafood restaurant offers an authentic experience with its fresco-lined walls adorned with ancient paintings and memorabilia. The ambiance is truly unique, featuring 1500s fireplaces and frescoes of Cherubs illustrating the seven deadly sins.
This is a trattoria where you can enjoy Venetian cuisine. It's very delicious. A surprising for Japanese tastes is that they serve dishes like Nanbanzuke (apparently called Saora in Venice) and taro. This is a unique taste from a different angle from popular Italian. The squid ink pasta is also delicious, with the flavor of the ingredients soaked into it. If you include this restaurant in your trip around Italy, you can enjoy new food tastes.

Awesome place and atmosphere! The service impecable, very friendly and the food delicious. They prepared the Tiramisu in front of us and it was very good. A bit pricey, but it is totally worth to try at least once when you visit Venice.

We had a lovely lunch at this historical restaurant, Poste Vecie, Davide and his team were very friendly, attentive and helpful. Davide was very kind to give us a brief history on the property and the noteworthy pieces. The food was delectable. Highly recommend!

This place was amazing!!! The service, the atmosphere, and the food were all excellent. I’d recommend trying to venetian appetizers! Every servers were extremely nice and treated you like royalties. They even had a welcome drink and complimentary dish to try. Don’t miss this place when you’re in Venice!!
Nisha N — Google review
A local friend recommended this spot to me. It’s tucked away behind a fish market, so it can be a little tricky to find, but once I stepped inside, I instantly loved the atmosphere. I ordered the raw bar platter, it was fresh and beautifully presented, and the squid ink pasta was absolutely delicious.
Laura P — Google review
The food was not great - expected fresh Italian seafood and what we got was overpriced chewy lobster. Sat to a really loud table and were moved when complained about it. If you’re thinking about coming here to taste Italian food? I recommend you pick elsewhere! Even after leaving most of our meal, we were still charged full price. At €150, I’d expect much better!
Maria N — Google review
There is one staff, the food is delicious, and they also have a welcome drink service. They are very kind. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very good, but the entrance is a bit difficult to find because if you are not a local, you probably won't know this restaurant because you have to pass the fish market.
Suleewan S — Google review
Tucked away in the fish market area, you can easily walk by and miss this cute restaurant. The service was absolutely spot on, and every dish was prepared perfectly. The servings allowed for my husband and I to order each course, and they were so good we licked the spoons in the end. We had the oysters, fish stew, ravioli, eel, and fried seafood plate. We ended with the tiramisu and bruleed pineapple. Everything was so good, I can't recommend one dish over the other!

Ristorante Lineadombra is a high-end Italian seafood restaurant located in Dorsoduro, Venice. It offers a modern take on Venetian cuisine and is known for its romantic waterside terrace overlooking the island of Giudecca. The restaurant serves traditional dishes with new techniques and curious combinations, such as tartare of amberjack and gragnano torciglioni pasta with tiger shrimp, cherry tomatoes, taggiasche olives, and capers.
After spending a full day in Venice with plenty of tourists and Crowds, it was so delightful to go right across the grand Canal to an absolutely fantastic restaurant. As it’s mostly residential on that side, it was lovely quiet. The staff could not have been more accommodating, the food was outstanding. The service also could not be any better. We had originally booked a table out on the terrace, but it unfortunately was very cold and windy, and they gave us inside overlooking the water and happily refunded the extra money that we paid for the table Right on the water on the terrace. Everything was perfect, perfectly prepared beautifully plated an expertly presented as we shared every dish. The price was extremely reasonable, including must have blood orange Campari Cocktail. They had wonderful jazz music quietly playing in the background and overall was just a phenomenal experience.

We had a phenomenal dinner here!! It was the last night of our honeymoon so we wanted to close things out on a high note and that’s exactly what we got. We had the scallops to start with, the red turnip gnocchi with ‘cardoncello’ mushrooms, and the salt baked sea bass. All were wonderful!!

I went for lunch and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The service was flawless, warm, attentive, and refined without being intrusive. The setting, right by the water, offers a breathtaking view that makes the whole moment feel truly special. Each dish was delicate, full of flavor, and elegantly plated, a perfect blend of finesse and freshness. Ideal for a quiet, upscale lunch with a touch of romance. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy Venice at its finest.

Trattoria Anzolo Raffaele is a charming taverna in Venice, offering a menu inspired by the Friuli region with San Daniele prosciutto as a specialty. Despite its Venetian location, the restaurant surprises diners with Sardinian influences in its cuisine. Housed in a beautiful historic building, it provides a cozy atmosphere for locals and tourists to enjoy traditional Venetian recipes infused with Sardinian flavors.
After 5 days in Venice being constantly disappointed, this place was the antidote for our trip. The restaurant is located in a quiet off the beaten track Square and they set up a table outside, next to the wall of the church, for us at lunch because the sun was shining even though they were not prepared for outdoor dining. Very kind. The food was delicately prepared, fresh and flavorful. Truly one of those experiences we will be talking about for years to come and recommending to everyone that comes to Venice to get away from the other nonsense that's so easy to experience here. They make their own small batch wine in Sardinia along with their olive oil and homemade bread. Truly, exquisite a genuine culinary triumph and reasonably priced for how good the food and overall experience was.

Had the most special dinner here. The food was simply the best we had in Venice where everything was home made and cooked to order! The staff were beyond accommodating and created such an ambient atmosphere where you felt like you were dining in someone’s home. The interior and exterior are tasteful and well preserved. Would recommend 100 times over!!

An authentic, family-run restaurant in Venice can be hard to find, and this is absolutely the real deal. We go to Venice a lot- this week was about the 7th time we've visited. Every time, we eat at Trattoria Anzolo Raffaele because it's amazing. It's off the beaten track in Dorsoduro, run by a husband and wife, and the food is absolutely wonderful. Fresh authentic ingredients, prepared with skill and heart. The seafood is amazing, but we also love their steak with rosemary. We keep coming back for more! Just to manage expectations: they don't do pizza or kids' menus. But they do amazing gluten-free pasta if anyone has allergies!

Hello, we came here last night and we were blown away by the team here. The food was so delicious, especially the pasta dishes and the dessert, highly recommend! We had one vegetarian and they catered their dishes especially towards her. As well as the food, the owners and our male waiter here were so friendly and lovely, very attentive. The interior of the restaurant was cosy with a classic italian feel, we were the last ones in and we were very happy this was our last stop before we left Venice. Thank you very much!

This is a "must eat at" restaurant in Venice. The owners are charming and understandably proud of the quality and taste of their amazing menu. I would have wanted to go everyday so I could try every dish. You are also away from the crazy crowds and feel this has a genuine local feel and flavour.

No tourists. A locals place worth the detour. The bean and pasta soup was just the tonic on a wet Thursday. The sardines with pickled onion were a delight. The onion so sweet. An off menu pasta pomodo was as good as promised.

Local is a refined restaurant in Venice that offers a reimagined tasting menu of Venetian cuisine in a rustic-chic setting. The restaurant has gained recognition for its exquisite dishes, such as spaghetti with sea urchins, walnuts, and black tea, and beef with concord grape. It has been awarded a Michelin star for its culinary excellence. The chef takes traditional Venetian dishes and enriches them with unique ingredients.
This time my Michelin Star Journey brought me to the beautiful city of Venice. Already at the hotel reception I was the told that „local“ is probably one of the best restaurants in all of Venice. What a promise to keep! And I was not disappointed. Deeply grounded in the rich Venetian Heritage the kitchen took me away on culinary night of flavour and taste. Dry aged fish, the secret of the „Roman Ketchup“, one course after the other took first my tongue and then my heart. What a night! The wine pairing was perfectly and carefully selected and had been the icing on this extraordinary evening. Needless to say that I had to try their newest spinoff „Trattoria del Local“ for lunch the next day. All in all coming to Venice was a brilliant idea, and most certainly I will come back to visit „Local“ again.

We visited Ristorante Local with high expectations, given its Michelin star status. While the experience wasn’t bad, it definitely didn’t deliver the “wow” factor we were hoping for. The food was decent, but not particularly memorable or surprising. Service was polite but didn’t feel especially warm or attentive—nothing stood out as special. The atmosphere was nice, but again, nothing that really elevated the evening. For a set menu close to €200 per person, we expected a more refined, curated, and emotional journey. It felt like something was missing—whether in terms of creativity, flavors, or service presence. At this level, the bar is high, and unfortunately, Local didn’t quite reach it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Extraordinary Lunch Experience at Ristorante Local We had the most amazing lunch at Ristorante Local in Venice. We chose the 7-course tasting menu with wine pairing, and it was truly unforgettable from start to finish. Each dish was creative, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor — a perfect balance of modern technique and Venetian tradition. The wine pairings were incredibly thoughtful and elevated every course. Alessandra was fantastic — warm, knowledgeable, and even recommended an extra pairing for our pre-dessert cheese selection, which ended up being one of our favorite moments. The entire experience lasted about three hours, but it never felt rushed or drawn out — just perfectly paced and immersive. We left absolutely glowing and couldn’t stop talking about it the rest of the day. A Michelin-star experience through and through.

I visited the restaurant and had an amazing experience! The service was simply excellent, the staff were kind, professional, and always smiling, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I especially loved the open kitchen, the team there is charming, creative, and clearly enjoys what they do. The food was absolutely outstanding! The beet and shrimp dish was unforgettable, and the risotto – without a doubt – was one of the best I’ve ever had. Every dish was beautifully presented, and you could truly feel the love and attention that went into every detail.

This place was an amazing experience on my honeymoon in Venice. When you first walk, we were greeted by the owner and sat at our table. The serving staff had an incredible attention to detail and knew exactly what our table needed before we even said anything. We did the 9 course tasting menu paired with their wine selections. Everything tasted absolutely amazing and the presentation of the dishes was gorgeous. This is a great experience and highly recommend.

My wife and I went here for dinner to celebrate her birthday. It was simply amazing! Very course was an absolute delight. Surprising tastes that you do not find very day even in other Michelin Star restaurants. I am surprised they only have one star. They definitely deserve a second one. The birthday surprise was just the icing on the cake to complete an amazing and unforgettable experience! If you look for something special in Venice you have to come here.

We celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary at Local in Venice, and it was the perfect choice. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt cozy, authentic, and full of charm—everything you’d want for such a special night. The seven-course tasting menu was incredible. Each dish had its own story, beautifully prepared and full of flavor, with just the right mix of tradition and creativity. Matteo made sure we felt at home the entire evening with his genuine warmth, and Manuel’s wine and spirits pairings were absolutely spot-on—they truly took the meal to another level. Local isn’t just dinner, it’s an experience you carry with you long after. Our anniversary was unforgettable thanks to the amazing food, the welcoming team, and the care behind every detail. We can’t wait to come back to Venice just to do it all over again.

Al Fontego dei Pescatori in Canareggio, Venice is a standout seafood restaurant known for its fresh and expertly prepared fish dishes. Chef Adriana's passion for quality seafood is evident as she personally selects the best products from the market daily. Visitors praise the sea bass baked in sea salt and marinated vegetables, along with other Venetian specialties like cuttlefish spaghetti and pasta in squid ink.
We have been trapped in so many touristic restaurants with poor quality and expensive dishes and finally by chance we found one that worth it. I recommend the sea bass fish baked inside sea salt (cost was 7€ per 100 gram, this one was 40 gr ). It's accompanied with marinated vegetables that are really tasty. Finally after 3 days in venice we had a good culinary experience, staff was really friendly.

The cuttlefish spaghetti is on the top of my list. The appetiser is taste great, with a hint of lemon taste and sweetness of the seafood. Perfect choice. A glass of house wine will make your meal even more excellent.

Excellent food, price, and location, especially for visitors to Venice. The prices are better than most of the tourist traps in the area, and the food is tasty and fresh. They also offer venetian specialties like pasta in squid ink, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Service staff were also very friendly, and spoke several languages. Overall a very nice place to have dinner on a warm evening.

We had the best pasta of our Venice trip here. This place is a hidden gem tucked away in a small alley, yet conveniently close to the station. The clam pasta was full of umami - highly recommended. Seafood pasta and squid ink pasta were also excellent. All the pastas were cooked perfectly. The service was also great. Our server Mike was really friendly and we had a fun conversation about travel stories. He made us feel welcome and made our visit even better. I highly recommend this place when you visit Venice.

Trattoria Il Vagone offered absolutely amazing food and service. Our group of nine were wandering the streets of Venice for what seemed like hours after deboarding the train from Milan. When we stumbled upon this hidden gem, they weren’t even open yet. Mike welcomed us in with open arms into the dining room for drinks while we waited for the kitchen to open. He was a friendly, personable, and professional young man. The seafood and carbonara pastas are a must get. We will certainly be returning to this establishment!

The staff are warm, funny, and speak multiple languages, making you feel like old friends even on your first visit. We had spaghetti al pomodoro e basilico, light, balanced, and full of fresh tomato-basil flavor and fettuccine Alfredo with creamy sauce and tender mushrooms. Finished with a silky panna cotta drizzled in chocolate. Delicious food, amazing people, and a tranquil setting. Venice dining at its best.

The Antico Gatoleto is a Venetian restaurant located in a quiet place away from tourists, with friendly staff that speaks English. The pizzas are fresh, delicious and reasonably priced, with a wait time that is acceptable. The restaurant has beautiful decorations inside and the best part is you can see the little square through the windows. Prices are ok. I would definitely recommend this Venetian restaurant!
This place was very busy, we came here because our hotel desk attendant recommended it. Inside was extremely crowded but the weather was nice so we asked to sit outside and they were more than happy to accommodate us. We ordered 3 entrees to share, the chicken cutlet, salmon gnocchi, and lasagna. 10/10 recommend the lasagna!! The gnocchi and the cutlet were okay, but we would go back for the lasagna for sure!

We initially came in for change for the laundromat next-door however we were greeted with kindness by the owner and decided to eat lunch here. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted not just as a guest, but like family. The owners and servers radiated genuine kindness and hospitality that made the entire experience feel personal and unforgettable. What made the experience even more special was how welcoming and warm everyone was. They took time to explain the menu, share stories, and ensure every table felt appreciated. It wasn’t just a meal — it was a memory. The salmon gnocchi is to die for and I’m still thinking about their pizza bread and their authentic olive oil. If you’re in Venice and want more than just great Italian food — if you’re looking for heart, soul, and authentic hospitality — this place is a must. I’ll be dreaming about this dinner for a long time. 5 stars, without question. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We discovered this homey restaurant on our trek from the ferry stop to the laundromat close by. The next evening we made our way to Antico Gatoleto for dinner. Without a reservation I was pleasantly suprised that there was no wait for us getting a table for the two of us. Very busy on that evening, we were happy to soak in the friendly atmosphere with tables full of families and friends dining and visiting. Located at the foot of the Rialto Bridge, Osteria Bancogiro is a charming dining spot with a rich history. Housed in the 16th-century 'Fabbriche Vecchie' building, it offers a mix of modern Venetian dishes in its brick-vaulted dining room and on its canalfront terrace. The premises were once used as storerooms by market traders but have since been transformed into a popular nightlife hub.
Al fresco sitting with the grand canal in view is lovely. The range of cichetti is so good. We ended up almost ordering one of each. We had 12 different ones. Totally enjoyed them as each of them is well balanced and flavoured. Service staff is great too, warm and prompt.

Well, after a fair few glasses of wine, I'm likely to wax lyrical about this restaurant, but by God they deserve it. After two weeks travelling through Italy, South to North, and some really "good" food, I feel like we truly discovered "great". Osteria Bancogiro was just wonderful. The setting next to the canal, the friendly and welcoming service, and the food...! We decided to have the grilled octopus as a starter. Southern Italy eat your heart out. It was amazing. Then the veal and the lamb. Utterly sublime. We couldn't have asked for a better first evening meal in Venice, with more welcoming and friendly staff. Go there if you can. You'll thank me!
Jonathan H — Google review
It’s a little expensive, but it’s really worth it. I went with two other people and I had the lamb and it was good. My friend had the steak which I had a piece of, and it was delicious as well. The presentation of the food was well worth it too as each plate looked amazing. I would definitely come back here and I extremely recommend it.

The restaurant is right next to the canal. Stunning view during the sunset. We ordered several dishes, they were all good, especially the shrimp for starter and the fish for main. Tiramisu was the best one I had during this trip
Julien L — Google review
Its decent, but to be honest extremely overpriced. You can find way better places at less posh places, but we know that when we come to this kind of tourist 'wannabe' restaurants its what you get. Wine was supposed to be really good, but was nothing special either. Dishes are a bit small. The black tagliatelle were too salty, and who ordered them had stomach ache afterwards. The carbonara was slightly undercooked (and I understand what al dente is), making the dish not as good unfortunately.
Maylivelove L — Google review
Cicchetti was alright, but they were better than the spots nearby. The big name cicchetti spots were all closed in the early afternoon so we came here and it was okay

Me and my partner had a wonderful meal here this evening. We ate outside and they gave us a mosquito repellent in case we needed it which was very nice. The food was delicious. We started with a pesto, buratta and pistachio pacchette which was fantastic. The mixture of the pistachios and the pesto along with the buratta made for a fabulous flavour. We both then had the fillet steak and vegetables. I had mine rare and it was nice and red in the middle. My partner had hers medium and it was still quite bloody but the meat was extremely tender too. All we added was a bit of salt and pepper (which was on the table) to give it a bit of an extra flavour. My partner really enjoyed her steak. For me, it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. The flavour was fantastic and the meat was so tender. And the size of the steak for how much you paid was extremely generous. The choice of vegetables paired with the steak were great too as there wasn’t anything to overpower the steak itself. We also had 4 alcoholic drinks between us and a free limoncello to finish off. Highly highly HIGHLY recommend you check this place out if you’re ever in Venice.

La Palanca is a popular spot on Giudecca, where locals gather for coffee in the morning and drinks during aperitivo hour. At lunchtime, the restaurant transforms into a bustling eatery serving exceptional seafood dishes. The menu features a variety of seafood antipasti, pasta with squid and artichokes, and grilled Adriatic fish. The atmosphere is that of a neighborhood bar, with cheerful back rooms and sought-after tables by the Giudecca canal.
We just arrived from Rome while I am very disappointed with the food there but this place recovered me from that experience. What a great pasta! And the sea food, all the sauce and sides of food and the fish plate … all amazing.

I would give 10 stars if I could! 🌟 The atmosphere and the food were amazing. This place is popular for a reason, so having a reservation is recommended. We found it spontaneously and still managed to get a table inside. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, and the food took us to the heaven and back! It was by far the most delicious food we tried in Venice. The mixed starter was so good and then they topped it for me with a simple pasta with tomato sauce. I say simple, but it was absolutely delicious! If you can make something so simple taste so delicious, you definitely know what you are doing. 🍝 My husband has ravioli with fish and was also super impressed. Regards and big thank you to the whole crew there! You made our day. It’s worth it to come back to Venice just to eat at this place again. ❤️❤️❤️

La Palanca, Giudecca, sits by its namesake vaporetto stop with views across the canal. A daytime trattoria and evening cicchetti bar, it’s beloved by locals for its straightforward cooking and fair prices, though it’s had its share of international press. I settled under the wooden beams for a final fish lunch and trusted the barman’s choice: grilled tuna, crusted in toasted sesame and drizzled with balsamic. Nutty, savoury, sharp-sweet – simple, deftly timed, and perfectly judged. Light, unfussy Venetian cooking at its best, with views to match. 8.5/10.

Amazing place ! The view on Venice and the tables by the sea are really beautiful. Service is impeccable with smiling and funny waiters. And the food is really impressive: tasty and original, from the starters to the dolci ! Best sardine pasta i’ve had. Thank you for this experience !

There is something so special about La Palanca. Beyond the incredible food, it’s the genuine service and the ambiance, where tourists and locals rejoice, that makes it a true treasure. We’ve been in Venice for 3 days and after seeking more central (near San Marco) / mainstream options on all the “where to go lists” - it was La Palanca that stood out above the rest. They were also incredibly attentive to allergies / intolerances, which goes a long way. 10/10 would recommend for the friendly service, location, and fantastic food.
Mikey S — Google review
We came here as we heard that this was a great place to have lunch. It will require you to take the vaporetto from the main island over, but the trip is completely worth it as you can dine waterside with Venice in view. Of note, sometimes waves will breach the side of the walkway. The restaurant has set up wooden boards as well as elevated crates beneath some tables to prevent your shoes from getting wet. This is not a big issue, and in fact we had a good laugh when it happened to us. THE FOOD HERE IS STELLAR. Both my partner and I agree that this is likely the best dining establishment we ate during our 2-day stay in Venice. The seafood is extremely fresh, the staff was friendly, welcoming and attentive. This dining establishment focuses on food and customer service. We at no point felt rushed as we did on the main island. We started off with the fish platter which came with whipped salted cod, marinated sardines, raw tuna in olive oil, and anchovies. The whipped cod was in our opinion the best in the area. The Buffalo mozzarella with roasted eggplant was awesome. The squid ink pasta and grilled prawns were also well made and not overly salty like some other restaurants on the main island. This is a place that we will likely revisit if we are in the area again in the future.

We absolutely loved this place! Highly recommend the tapas - local ones with cod and tuna, they were amazing, the meat was melting. And the tiramisu is one of the best I've ever had! The service was great and they kindly explained everything we were getting. And one of my favorite parts - a lot of locals were coming here :) we took a boat from Venice to eat here as a local friend recommended it to us.

My loveliest place in Venice. The incredible view on the row embankment, waves are welcoming under your feet but staff will give you some footrest. The stuff is fully friendly and really funny, I should say that it’s the best customer service that I’ve seen in the Venice. The atmosphere is really calm and has “la vita è bella” vibes :))) It’s not the place only for tourists, I saw a lot of locals, workers in special clothes and a little foreigners. The food was awesome and really fresh. I’ve taken an antipasti plate with fresh tuna tartar and another small fishes (18€). It was really nice. And for the dessert I had the best tiramisu (6€) in my whole life! The cream was incredible. White dry wine is good smelled and nice for taste. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

An Absolutely Incredible Experience From the very first moment, this restaurant made us feel at home. The hospitality was so warm and genuine that it felt more like being welcomed as a guest in someone’s home than dining out at a restaurant. Every detail — from the attentive service to the unhurried pace — added to the sense of care and authenticity. The food itself was outstanding. The classic Venetian sardines were a revelation, perfectly balancing tradition and flavor. The clam spaghetti was pure salty heaven, every bite infused with the taste of the sea. The mixed fish grill was a highlight, showcasing the freshness of the daily catch in a way that let the natural flavors shine through without overcomplication. And just when we thought the experience couldn’t get any better, dessert arrived. The tiramisu was anything but gratuitous — light, flavorful, and the perfect finale to an already exceptional meal. This was one of those rare dining experiences where everything comes together: food, atmosphere, and genuine hospitality. A true Venetian gem that I would return to again and again.

We ordered the seafood platter for a starter and the variety and taste were excellent. The lobster pasta as a main was one of the best dishes I have had so far. Very well balanced will a very soft and decadent lobster. Definitely go pay this place a visit if you find yourself in Venice.

I wish I could give a thousand stars. Food was fresh, delicious and tasty. Service was expectacular. Salva made our dinning experience even better with his patience and kindness. This is the first time in a week in Italy that I have been very well served at a restaurant. I would definitely recommend this gem, is not by the water but it has quality food and service. Worth the walk 100%

Osteria da Alberto is a lively and cozy wood-beamed tavern in Cannaregio, Venice. The restaurant offers local classics such as risotto and squid ink pasta, along with daily specials featuring fresh seafood like lagoon prawns with zucchini blossoms and tomatoes. The atmosphere is truly Venetian, with antique cooking pots hanging from the ceilings and walls adorned with wine bottles. This osteria has been consistent for over sixteen years, maintaining its authentic Venetian environment and cuisine.
Super good. We were looking forward to eat here and were not disappointed. The Folpi in umido cooked perfectly and the pasta was super flavorful and prepared correctly. The atmosphere was like it should be quiet and as old times. Really enjoyed. This is a must try if in venice.

Fantastic restaurant, in beautiful Venice, it seems that it's only visited by locals and very few tourists, as it's not on the main pathway from train station to St's Marc's square, but a bit further. Nice designed interior with many old artefacts and wishes from famous people, old furtniture. We've tried Spaghetti alle seppie nere, then Tagliatelle with seafood and Risotto di pesce (fish) and of course a delicious home made tiramisu (probably the best tiramisu, I've ever had) Staff was very helpful, although it was quite full during our visit, but all dishes came quite fast. Absolutely recommended

We loved Osteria da Alberto! It's a fantastic spot for delicious and fresh seafood dishes at very reasonable prices, especially for Venice. The interior was simple but very charming. It's rustic with lots of wood, with some tables near the window overlooking a small canal running alongside the osteria. Our server was incredibly friendly and clearly passionate about their house specialties. My husband wanted to try something uniquely Venetian, and the server recommended the bigoli in salsa di acciughe, which we both loved. I ordered my all-time favorite, spaghetti ai caparossoli (spaghetti with clams), and I was so impressed. The pasta was perfectly cooked, with a generous serving and plentiful clams. I still think about it once in a while. 😅 We can't wait to dine here again. Thank you for the excellent quality and service!

Quite busy restaurant. Cozy interior but a little weird decorations (Jack Daniel’s bottles are not Italian). Lady from service seems somewhat friendly but also a little stressed / annoyed. As she is alone, everything can take a bit longer. Menu limited, not a lot to choose from, but that can be a good sign, as they specialize in certain things. Risotto was good, fish was also OK, but nothing exceptional. After we finished our meal the staff was having lunch, so there was no one to bring us the check, we had to go up to the counter and wait for a while until they could spare some time. Would probably not return, even though everything was OK.

Tried the special of the day, tagliatelle with mixed seafood and baccala with squid ink which was terrific! Cozy, rustic setting with warm and friendly staff - got busy quickly after opening at 630 pm

Fantastic food. Was recommended to come here by our Airbnb host and it did not disappoint. House red wine was excellent, they were very accommodating of our children with plain tomato pasta and pasta with butter. However our meals were amazing - the risotto al pesce was incredible. You have to order for two people but it was amazing, the squid was so tender. I had Angus beef steak and phil had liver and both meals were delicious. Fantastic atmosphere and service. I would say it was our favourite meal in Venice, but this was our first night in Venice!!! Hard to top! Great recommendation!!

We ordered Pasta Vongole and the original Venetian Bigoli in Salsa and it's one of the best pasta dishes we've tried so far in Italy. The place is very quaint and original, away from the hoard of tourists running throughout Venice. The seafood is fresh and the service is really pleasant. It's highly recommended.

Disappointing Experience – they treat tourist differently than locals. We made a reservation for 4 & arrived on time. Unfortunately, we were seated in an incredibly cramped corner—so tight that two of us couldn’t get out unless the other two stood up and the whole table was shifted. Not a great start. Service started off decently, but things took a turn when the wrong risotto arrived. We had ordered two of the nightly specials: the squid ink risotto and baked sea bass. What we got instead was a mixed seafood risotto. When we pointed this out, our server seemed visibly annoyed that we insisted on getting what we ordered. Her response? “It will take a while,” said with clear irritation. After that, the service completely fell off. She never came back to pour our wine or refill water, ignored our request for extra napkins, and didn’t check in on us at all. The shift in attitude was obvious and uncomfortable. What stood out even more was the difference in how locals were treated. The woman at the next table, who mentioned she was from Austin, whose server prioritized locals who arrived after her. The contrast in service was stark. As for the food? It was just okay. Nothing memorable, especially considering the poor service. Sadly, we won’t be returning and definitely won’t be recommending this place. Venice has far better to offer in both food and hospitality.

Corte Sconta is a renowned seafood restaurant located in Venice, Italy. Established in 1980, it is situated in an old bottle factory and offers a charming setting with a vine-covered courtyard. The menu at Corte Sconta follows Venetian seasons and traditions, featuring excellent moeche (fried crabs) and fresh fish paired with seasonal vegetables. The restaurant's specialization in seafood ensures a delightful dining experience for even the most discerning gourmets.
What a charming Venetian spot! My partner especially liked the baked shrimp appetizer and I loved the zucchini scallop pasta. The fried seafood platter came with a variety of options and was lightly battered. Our server was lovely and the setting was beautiful and romantic.

Middle of the road. Good, but not great. Eat here if it's convenient for you, but definitely not worth a large detour. Had the "classic" tasting menu. Menu was acceptable until the tuna - which was a pile of overcooked tuna cubes buried under katsuobushi. Had that dish been swapped out with another secondi dish, I would have given this 5 stars. Desert however, was wonderful. Definitely redeemed the tuna somewhat.

Loved the food, service, and atmosphere. I got the appetizer tasting which came with 5 seafood dishes that were superb for a very good price. The swordfish tiradito and the saute of clams were particularly outstanding. They also have a great wine menu. Lovely restaurant.

This restaurant was quite the gem in Venice. A little out of the way - but definitely worth it. I went solo as my partner is vegan and there weren’t many options for him! I had the tasting menu for €85 I believe. It was delicious. Lots of different fish & seafood, steamed, raw, grilled. So good - my favorite were the steamed seafruit and the clams. Delicious! The only thing I didn’t love was the tiramisu - it was very underwhelming and bland. I wouldn’t have that again but otherwise everything was great. Prompt and attentive service but true Italian where they leave you alone but pay attention. Definitely would go back!

The food was magnificent: I had the seafood Ravioli with a delicious pumpkin sauce, followed by the Turbot which was butterscotch and cooked perfectly. Altogether a very pleasant culinary experience despite the rather high Venecian prices. We ate here in 2012 and wanted to see if it was still as good or if the quality had deteriorated as some reviews suggest. In my experience, it is still a top notch quality seafood restaurant!

Trattoria Da Primo is a long-standing, family-owned restaurant known for serving robust regional dishes from Burano, including seafood and risotto. While fish-based cuisine is the highlight, the restaurant also offers traditional bussolai pastries and creamy risotto di go. Visitors recommend trying the sarde in saor, a Venetian classic, followed by the tremendous grigliata mista (seafood mixed grill).
Amazing. This is a dining experience. The food is incredible, the family that runs the restaurant is wonderful. We completely enjoyed ourselves and were treated like family. The homemade tagliolini scampi and risotto were what my wife and I shared, the rest of our group demolished their food and we were too busy eating to get more pictures! The traditional Burano biscuit was the perfect ending to our meal. Definitely on my "need to return" list!

The Risotto Di Go is pure perfection. The sea bass and scallops were amazing. The service was everything! Slipped us to grab her name but we remember that the dishes we had are her mom’s recipes so I’m assuming she is the owner but nonetheless, if you read this, just know you are an absolute gem and the sweetest person. Thank you! Zoom into the window on the photo of the restaurant to see the nicest hostess smiling for the photo!

Friendly family run restaurant. Very efficient service. A few sisters run around entertaining guests. All very friendly. The owner is also a fisherman and serves catch of the day as daily specials. We had the baked brim with potatoes. The mussels were super fresh and the vongole had a generous amount of clams. The sauce and flavor was spot on. Wished I had more spaghetti to mop up the sauce. Top 3 meal of my Italian trip.

What a wonderful family run restaurant serving fresh seafood from nearby waters. Each dish is explained in detail with love. Each dish was fresh with new flavors we never had before.

Waitress was nice, and seafood spaghetti was also nice. Unfortunately carbonara was a disaster - it was basically pasta with scrambled eggs and no taste of real carbonara... and it was expensive, I've had much better carbonara for 12 euro, this one was not worth even 8 euro (and it did cost around 16 euro) Pasta itself felt like something you can get at every store. Overall the dinner (2 pasta dishes, 1 beer and one drink) cost us 57 euro, but it was all worth maybe 40 euro
Andrzej L — Google review
€3 Cover Charge – As explained by the waitress, the cover charge includes the bread placed on the table (whether you eat it or not) and a few other items. Even she, as a local, pays it—so it’s not just a tourist thing, so they claim. For my appetizer, I ordered an assortment of sliced meats (€18), followed by a house special not listed on the menu: seafood lasagna (€22). I also had a glass of white wine (€9). I initially thought the wine was €5, but wine isn’t exactly my area of expertise—perhaps I ended up with a different pour. Ignorance is bliss? The meats were solid. The seafood lasagna was tasty, but the portion was noticeably small—especially compared to the generous pasta plates I saw being served around me. To be honest, photos of the lasagna elsewhere looked more impressive than the one I received. Service was warm and attentive, and the ambiance was pleasant overall.

We had such a lovely lunch here with our two children. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. The food was outstanding - my husband had the fresh catch of the day, recommended by the owner, and it was fresh and perfect. I loved the local preparation of liver, while our kids happily tucked into grilled scampi and a seafood platter. Every dish was delicious, and the atmosphere made us feel so welcome. We left very happy and very much hope to return.

Riva Rosa is a charming seafood restaurant located on the picturesque lace island of Burano in Venice. Owned by the family behind the prestigious Emilia lace brand, the restaurant boasts an elegantly feminine decor that reflects their exquisite design sensibilities. The chef skillfully transforms the daily catch into delectable Venetian dishes such as risotto al go, spaghetti with clams and mussels, and turbot baked with potatoes.
We had an amazing time. Our waiter was so knowledgeable and let us know about the specials of the day not listed on the menu. The atmosphere was absolutely perfect! The food was delicious and creative! We were taught a little bit of Italian by another waiter! Overall this resteraunt was a 5/5!

We enjoyed our lunch here in the sunshine. The food was delicious and the chef had a very light touch. We tried the sardines, calamari and one of the pasta dishes with tuna. Unfortunately, some of the dishes weren’t available that we fancied from our first choices bit the ones we had didn’t disappoint. The desserts were good but didn’t excite as much as the previous courses. We also had the Prosecco which was lovely. The service was fantastic, first class, and really attentive without being overbearing.
Michelle O — Google review
The prices were too high for what we got. The portions were small. The seafood pasta had so many tiny clams that there was barely anything to eat, although the taste was good. The steak came with just a small side salad and wasn’t enough to satisfy even my child — he left the table still hungry. The fish dish was also quite small. Overall, the food tasted fine, but the portion sizes definitely didn’t match the prices.

What a delightful spot! The food was absolutely delicious, and the place has a charming, upscale vibe that makes it feel special. While the rooftop was closed on the day I visited, the views of Burano’s bright, colorful houses were still stunning from the restaurant. Perfect for a relaxed meal with a beautiful backdrop. Highly recommend it for anyone visiting this vibrant island!

Delicous food, amazing view and lovely friendly staff - was nice as a brit to be able to speak in italian and not be responded to in english, but to be appreciated for making the effort. We had the carbonara from the specials board and the fried squid/vegetables and it was delicious, perfect portions for a scorching hot day and delightful view of the canal and coloured houses.

Pizza was not long enough in the oven. One of the weakest Pizzas I have tried in Italy. The 18 Euro for the sardines was too high for the portion size (see picture). Fish was ok but not seasoned. Pasta with butter was good and a decent size.

This restaurant was recommended to us by our tour guide. The service was outstanding. Our server recommended a great bottle of wine and was very helpful when we were deciding on what to order. If you're a seafood enthusiast or just someone looking to indulge in the flavors of Venice, Acqua e Mais is a must-visit spot. Venice is famous for its seafood, and my go-to spot for a local favorite is Acqua e Mais. Tucked away from the bustling tourist areas, this little gem is perfect for grabbing a quick bite on the go. My top pick? The fried mixed seafood cone—it’s packed with a variety of crispy, flavorful bites and is surprisingly filling. And of course, no Venetian street food experience is complete without an Aperol Spritz to wash it all down!

I visited Acqua e Mais during a business holiday in Italy, as my first choice (Cantina del Vino già Schiavi) was unfortunately closed. Based on online reviews, this place came recommended, but it didn’t live up to the hype. After ordering, the food was briefly reheated in a combi oven. When I sat down nearby to eat (on the steps, as there’s no proper seating), I found the food only barely warm. The squid had a strong, unpleasant fishy taste, and the potatoes were overwhelmingly salty. Cost: €14.50 (very expensive for a street-style food) Service: Unfriendly!
L C — Google review
The food is nop notch, sardines, shrimps and squid all fried were very tasty. Can’t say much about the service as there is only one guy that cooks and takes the orders at the same time so it’s difficult to be very helpful and also they need to put more helpful signs about the menu and in English and maybe at least put small tables for people to stand and eat for a while. Although I think you have to test it as you visit Venice.
Vaggelis D — Google review
I was in Venice for under forty eight hours and somehow managed to eat three boxes of the fried seafood and honestly wish I had three more boxes it was so good! The freshness was unmatched! The frying was so perfect. The taste was unreal. I’ll be dreaming of all the octopus for a while. Calamari likely forever spoiled for me because Acqua e Mais is a height I’m almost positive no one will ever come close to.

It was okay. Bread that came with balsamic and Olive oil was stale. Bruschetta was also stale and topped with too much mozzarella. We wanted to find a local non-touristy restaurant. The staff was so nice and the food was great! I never had the dish before and went with what the server recommended… I wasn’t able to speak Italian but she was so nice and even suggested an amazing desert

We had dinner here on our first night in Venice, it was across from our hotel qnd seemed like a nice place. The side is blocked by the water bus stop so the sight is not as nice as could be, although still generally romantic. The service was attentive and quick, they unfortunately do not serve tap water and we were made to order bottled water instead, but it wasn’t too much of a hassle. The meal itself was good enough, the seafood pasta is particularly good. The cuttlefish polenta was different, it was still good but not too engaging. The least satisfactory dish however, was the pasta of the day dish, which this time was sea bass with a pistachio based sauce. It fell quite a bit short and was bland to the taste. The pasta dishes range from 20-25 euros, while the larger main courses are 25-35. Entrees will be around 15-20 mostly. Overall a satisfactory meal, although I wouldn’t rank it too spectacular.

Highly recommend this place for excellent pasta. We tried the seafood pasta and the one with clams. The sauce was just right: thick, not too oily, and very well balanced. The seafood was fresh, and the service was warm and welcoming — polite and respectful. I’d definitely choose to dine there again if I had more time in Venice.

Came here for a group dinner so review might be slightly skewed. The seafood risotto is great especially with the Parmesan cheese provided. Calamari tasted fresh but a little too greasy. Apparently they ran out of tiramisu at the end… the cake we had tasted like pure sugar and it was hard…

After visiting the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute nearby, we walked past this restaurant and decided to stop in for lunch. When we got there, the main entrance was dead and the outdoor seating just inside the courtyard area was empty, which made us think this wasn’t a very popular place. But when we went inside, they were packed! They have two large indoor dining rooms and both were packed! Service was quick and friendly. Their menu is loaded with all the typical, appetizing Italian food. Prices are very fare too. We started with a salad that was incredibly fresh and very tasty… We simply dressed it with salt & pepper and EVOO & balsamic and that was perfect! Next up, we split their Linguine with Genoese Pesto and their Baked Lasagna and both were outstanding! The creaminess and deep flavor of the lasagna was so good and heart warming! Last up was to enjoy some desserts – they have a great selection of sweets here. Highly recommend stopping in, but you might want to make a reservation, they seem to get quite busy.

A hidden gem in Venice! Just a few minutes' walk from our accommodation was an oasis of tranquillity. The fresh salad was fantastic (we went back the next night just for that!). Visited November 2024 - Set in a former boat shed, San Trovaso has high rafters and a neighbourly warmth that feels more local haven than tourist stop, despite being steps from the Galleria dell’Accademia. The seafood is fresh, authentic, and well priced. Antipasto Venexiano brought sarde in saor, baccalà mantecato, canestrelli, folpetti, schie with polenta and more - a neat 7.5/10. Seppie alla Veneziana, braised in their own ink with polenta, was delicate and fresh from the lagoon - 8/10. Frittura mista, crisp and lively with prawns that bounced to the bite and garden vegetables for lightness, was a satisfying 8.5/10. One of my favourites in Venice.

A seafood restaurant with a canal view in Venice is great for visitors who want to taste some of the best seafood in the city. The lobster pasta is especially succulent, and the calamari is especially tender. The staff are polite and efficient, and the prices are reasonable for such excellent quality food.
Was seated immediately, the waiter was attentive and very friendly. The food was fresh and served with bread for the table. Order the calamari, it was great. Save room for the limoncello after. The gnocchi with bolognese was my favorite. The sea bass was great too I asked for pasta as my side and was very happy with the flavor. It was very filling and the atmosphere made it even better.

The food was decent. Not bad, but nothing blew me away either. The service was really great, and the view is fantastic. A bunch of online lists will tell you to hit this spot for a good patio, but there are actually a ton of restaurants in Venice with similar views and patios. Food is defo better at some of them.
Gurv — Google review
I came here after reading google reviews. Ordered what everyone did- spaghetti in squid 🦑 ink sauce, grilled fish with salad and wine. Like everywhere else water comes in bottle €4. Wine 🍷 is €5. I’m surprised the 12% service charge was added already to my bill. I ate at the restaurant next to it and other fancy restaurants in Italy and there’s no service charge even for my big group. The mains are €3-5 cheaper just steps away. The food and service was good but the mandatory service charge left me with a bad taste. ( while we tip a lot more than that in Canada and USA, the practice is not common in Europe).

Visiting Venice for the first time and saw this place because we wanted to have fresh seafood by the canal— dream accomplished! HIGHLY recommend the shrimp spaghetti and branzino. And the tiramisu is a MUST, so light, fluffy, and satisfying. service was impeccable, even going so far as to move us to a table closer to the water!! Free limoncello for digestion at the end sealed the deal. we will definitely be back our next trip :)

Not sure if Venice isn’t known for pasta dishes or what, but I had gnocchi with meat sauce and my husband had the Lasagne. Both had the same sauce, and it reminded me of Chef Boyardee sauce. Would rate 0 stars if I could. Not good at all. So disappointing while in Italy for vacation. Totally wasted a meal! And I’m really not hard to please, I swear. Edit, they did give us our entire meal for no charge, we felt bad, because the cheese plate was nice and the wine was good. Service was also good but with much insistence to pay they still refused to take any money . I’m guessing they saw my review that I left as I sat at the table

Best food experience overall in Italy! 👌🏻 From the moment we walked in, the food and the entire service were top notch! Big thanks to our server Max for turning this dinner into a highlight of our trip to Italy! 🇮🇹 couldn’t recommend this place enough! Stay far away from the tourist traps in the center of Venice and come here!!!

Both the spaghetti with seafood and the spaghetti with cuttlefish ink were delicious. The spritz aperol was noty thing, the draft beer was good. The bread was below average. The water and the servycharge were tourist traps.
Patrick X — Google review
Honestly , the food tasted quite average to good, nothing fancy, but atmosphere and vibe is good. Had the mushroom and seafood risotto separately, could be better if the seafood broth is soaked deeper and also the mushroom essence is simmered deeper, both seems like same rice base but different toppings. The seafood main is ok , portion seems a bit little for the price… maybe can skip this , just order good old pasta .

Dinner at an unforgettable restaurant, Trattoria Andri !!! We have visited Lido a couple of times but it was the first time we had dinner at this traditional restaurant, mid Oct. After reading the reviews I tried ”hard” to get them on the phone since there isn’t any reservation form but finally I reserved our table!!! Everything was perfect. Warm welcome (and goodbyes), friendly waiters, reasonable prices, beautiful wall decoration, colourful venetian glasses all round us but most of all quality of all the tasty seafood dishes we order, exceptional! Grappa for the end is on them!!! Thank you for a lovely evening.

Tasty Venetian food with a fun interior. My kids were able to get some delicious gnocchi al ragu and one with a pomodoro sauce. I got a delicious seafood salad to begin, followed by Seppie al Nero which was amazing. My wife enjoyed a grilled swordfish with polenta. We ordered a crisp bottle of a Venetian Pinot Grigio which was refreshing on a summer night. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

This beautiful family restaurant, adorned with exquisite art and Murano glassware, offers a delightful atmosphere. However, the highlight for me is undoubtedly the exceptional food, which makes every visit truly memorable. The risotto although none “instagrameable” was so delicious and cooked to perfection.

Lovely pasta dinner and great service We got a quick and friendly treatment by the daughter of the owner. Inside it's light and quite big but with that also somewhat noisy. We choose a table outside. We where there early, around eight and the restaurant was almost full when we left. We ordered three different pasta dishes and all came out same time. Very well made and lovely taste. The cheesecake for dessert was to dry and sweet for our taste. Got some nice grappa as an bonus. Atmosphere: 4+ Service: 5 Food: 4+ Worth the money: 4+ Overall experience: 5

We were in Venice for two days. Day 2, decided to do a ferry trip round the islands. As we felt hungry, googled some nice seafood place and stumbled upon this Italian fish and seafood restaurant. Did not have a booking but somehow, we were accommodated to a table for 2. Pleasantly surprised by the clams pasta, which I will definitely recommend! Loved the ambient atmosphere and the Murano glassware that were used to serve drinks!

We picked the restaurant to celebrate a birthday dinner so we delivered the cake earlier to the restaurant and asked kindly to keep it in the fridge for us.when we wanted to cut the cake noticed the center was completely soft and gooey meaning it was left outside the fridge 😟 the food in general was nice a bit over-priced considering the portions.our dinner service took 3 hours from start to finish which is quite long!

Don't eat here... Don't make this mistake. Absolutely overpriced, the atmosphere is depressing, the food is absolutely not worth it. I ordered seafood spaghetti and there was less than a spoonful of any seafood inside, the white wine is served freezing cold, and the waiter just says - wait for it. We were the only people in the restaurant and we were bothered all the time if we want sth else, etc. Would never recommend. I'm sorry I didn't read the reviews before visiting.
Vania I — Google review
We had dinner here while staying at the Excelsior across the street, and it turned out to be a great choice. The service was warm, the food excellent, and the quality-to-price ratio spot on. The ambiance was also lovely—something you don’t always get in Italy without compromising on food, but La Tavernetta delivered on both. I’d happily return and would have come twice if we’d had more time in Lido.
Denisa G — Google review
We went at the beginning of Easter. The place was surprisingly empty (we were the only diners for the majority of the time). The food was outstanding, from the entrance till the dessert. Personally, I ordered the “Flan di zucchine con fonduta di pecorino” as an entrance, the “Bigoli di grano tenero con ragù di chianina” and the Tagliata. All very recommendable, especially the flan. The service was, as expected being the only clients, very attentive and personalized, although I wouldn’t deem this a coincidence. It’s a great alternative to the noise and crowdedness of Venice. I’d definitely come back.

My wife had one of nicest fish tonight that she has ever had. Service is very polite and attentive. Super fast delivery of food. From bread to fish to pasta to fish we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Given that Excelsior hotel has a bit of an over priced monopoly on the area this place was a breath of fresh air.

Ostaria Boccadoro is a charming restaurant located in Venice, offering a creative and elegant dining experience with a focus on fish-based Venetian cuisine. The chef, Luciano Orlandi, prides himself on using fresh seafood from the Chioggia market to create dishes that are raw or lightly cooked with delicate seasoning.
What an absolutely delightful restaurant: we wish we could come here every week for Saturday family lunch! Simon and his staff were consummate professionals and attended to our every need. We even had two small children with us ages six and eight, and they took such good care of them and enable my husband and I to have a wonderful lunch as if we were adults only in the good old days! :) The food was absolutely superb and the best meal that we had in Venice. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but we had the squid ink tagliolini with scallops and the gnocchi with crab. SUPERB. Don’t miss it!

After a few days in Venice, I found myself somewhat bored with the seafood dishes. However, this seafood meal was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. The prices may be a bit steep, but the taste is absolutely worth it. The portions are small, but the flavor is incredibly good. I can’t help but wonder if they’ll be getting Michelin stars soon. The waitress was extremely friendly and professional. I’ll definitely be back if I’m ever back to Venice.

We had a fantastic time at Ostaria Boccadoro. We posted up for 3.5 hours and the servers were so friendly and accommodating. Despite being accessible only by ferry, it's worth the visit for its lack of crowds and picturesque setting.
Absolutely a must do on Giudecca island in Venice for a nice family Sunday lunch , very discret door to access a very romantic diner place and a beautiful patio terrasse at Altanella Trattoria. The best hand made gnocchi so far .

The Mother’s Day special Italian burger was quite exceptional. It’s about 10 story high with super thick pattern. Treatment was rather unique in Venetian style. The owner served us and I showed him a Google photo of himself telling them. He was famous and he was embarrassed. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience.

What a delightful night we had at Trattoria Altanella! Alessandro was a wonderful server and told us his family has owned the restaurant for 5 generations. Best view, away from crowds and top position. Super kind professional and nice service with the food with passion. Good vine which is impressive. My favorite restaurant in Venice.
Juno — Google review
A legendary address, once frequented by politicians and artists — you can still feel the history in the atmosphere. However, the meal itself was rather unremarkable unless you go for the signature dishes, which we didn’t. Without those, the experience felt quite ordinary, with nothing particularly memorable on the plate. To truly enjoy what this place has to offer, it’s probably best to stick to the classics that built its reputation.
Stephane K — Google review
The service was good and the food was fine. The view and the patio here were definitely the best features though. The only remarkable dish was the octopus starter, perfectly cooked and well balanced with the salad. The fried fish, veggies, and purple pasta with shrimp were all okay.
Jose H — Google review
A true Venetian gem. Altanella combines a gracious, old-world welcome with a refined yet unpretentious cuisine that captures the essence of the lagoon. The dining room, adorned with mid-century works by Venetian painters, exudes understated elegance. A place for those who appreciate authenticity, heritage, and perfectly executed simplicity.

This trattoria is a hidden gem, tucked away on a narrow street — and I’m so glad we followed the recommendation and came here. The place is cozy and full of character, with an authentic bar counter and a wonderful view of a quiet canal away from the crowds. The staff are exceptionally warm, attentive, and professional — their hospitality and charisma make the whole experience unforgettable, and tipping here truly feels like a heartfelt thank-you. The food and local wine were outstanding. I tried the Venetian specialty Bigoli di Bassano alla salsa di acciughe, while my husband had Gnocchi di patate fatti in casa con carciofi e mazzancolle — both dishes were excellent and gave us a deeper appreciation of Venetian cuisine. A place full of charm that we would happily return to again and again.

Absolutely best burrata + gaspacho one could ever hope for. Chocolate mousse was also top notch. On the other hand, the fried seafood was too oily and too deep-fried, so that was a bit of a disappointment for my date.

The two pasta we ordered were awful, too salty and seemed to be cooked with canned food. And it was 18 euros each, that’s a scam.

This place commits crimes against cooking and against Italian/Venetian cuisine. The food is poorly cooked, the ingredients are cheap, and some of them are off (a good example is salad - totally wilted and gone black, but they still serve it). The whole place has a bad vibe too, with a bossy man in charge and the rest of the staff looking terrorised

Food was amazing but more importantly the quality of the service we received made our dining experience exceptional. Just the only thing that was missing for us was a sauce to go with the fried seafood plate.Thank you and hopefully see you again.

Restaurant look very good and friendly. If you will choose go here, you need time and warm clothes. Food looks very good, starters are served fast, main course takes a time. Our starters arrived within 10 min, main course (fish) in 1,5 hour. It looks there is small kutchen with low capacity, not able to serve visitors in some reasoble time. I suggest to take warm clothes with you. Inside restaurant was very cold. All people asked waiters to increase temperature. Without sucess. Due to low temperature, nobody spends time for talk with friends, everybody runs out immediatelly after finishing food.

We just had the best meal we have had in Venice/Italy (we were in Rome for 2 days) & such great service! The house Pinot Grigio and Gwertztraminer were lovely & light, went beautifully with our appetizers, mussels, calamari, and spaghetti & prawns! It's a little hole in the wall and got very busy by 8pm, but don't miss out on this place!

Food is fine but not cooked carefully… The meatballs were almost raw (see picture) and the rice of the risotto was very hard. It’s a shame beat cause the taste was good. We went into this restaurant for lunch as it had a good selection of fish dishes. I was very pleased to see they had some local Italian wine to choose from on the menu. The first staff member that served us was very friendly and helpful. Towards the end of the meal another member of staff took our food away and when they came to bring the coffee they slammed it onto the table. It was surprising as we were a mixed Italian / English group and had spoken Italian throughout the meal. The fish was tasty and the texture of the calamari was delicious. A nice restaurant but mixed staff attitudes

Although there were a lot of people here for the cicchetti, the food here was absolutely delicious and was the best meal I had in Italy! The seafood was so fresh and delicious. I didn’t have a reservation for lunch but went around 12:30pm and was able to get seated. Highly recommend the mussel stew which I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of. The squid ink pasta and fried calamari dishes were divine. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Food was great - ordered the spaghetti Alla busara and Frittura mista which came promptly, and tasted fresh. We also ordered a risotto at the beginning which never arrived and when we asked after half an hour, we were told bluntly (without checking with the kitchen) "it's coming". When it hadn't arrived after over an hour and two other tables near us who arrived after our first two dishes came out, already received and finishes theirs, we cancelled the order only to find out it was never placed. The staff were apologetic but we found the overall experience frustrating.

Many Italian restaurants served delicious Italian food, but we were lucky to come across this particular restaurant. All the dishes were delicious here, especially the seafood pasta, the carbonara pasta was tasty too, where the Vongole pasta was delicate in flavour, and when it comes to pizza, it was great too. In addition, the prices of the food were reasonable too.

I was there for New Years. The restaurant has a unique planning, where you can reserve a table only for two hours. It is understood that after the two hours are over, you have to leave, as the new guests are arriving. It was a new concept for me but I still enjoyed my time and didn‘t feel rushed. The food was excellent (I ordered cuttlefish pasta and braised bass) and came in a timely order. The tiramisu was excellent. The servers were incredibly attentive and could speak several languages. Trattoria da'a Marisa is a charming canalside restaurant with a warm and intimate ambiance. It's a popular spot for students, workers, and locals seeking authentic homemade Italian cuisine. The family-owned trattoria has been serving traditional dishes since 1965, attracting a diverse crowd of patrons. The cozy interior features wooden walls adorned with pictures, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Guests can choose to dine inside or enjoy waterside seating along the bustling Canale di Cannaregio.
Local fixed menu restaurant that everyone should take the opportunity to experience. All locals and university conference goers hoping to get a seat for lunch, but our party of 21 had a long anticipated reservation. We are so glad we booked that lunch. The pasta was fresh and the sauces were exquisite. The meat options were varied and all were delicious.
Caryn S — Google review
For me the pasta with ragu was too oily. The pasta was literally floating in oil. The meat texture was tough and the taste was bland. Here there are not many options to choose from and for us it was between three types of pasta: pasta with ragu, pasta with tuna, and pasta with tomato sauce. It seems like a family business and there were 5 people all cramped up inside the kitchen and it was so crowded that for a bottle of water we had to wait a long time and repeat it and after when we wanted to take a coffee they completely forgot about us and only remembered when we decided to leave without the coffee and they decided they wanted to make money on that coffee and in a sloppy move they offered us the coffee on the counter which was rude. Not recommend.

Friendly restaurant with excellent food and professional waiters. We went there in the evening. The only menu was a Seafood set menu: 50 euro. All plates were very tasty and big portions. Inside was very loud because the restaurant is small and narrow. Outside was a bit cold but that was fine with us. I would love to go back here to have only one or two dishes. It was impossible to make the card payment and we had to look for cash from some of our bags!

I have the fish menu. Everything is great. Food is delicious and the view is great. People are nice, too. I believe that price is also reasonable, compared to so many things that they offer. My only complaint is that... please have a print-out of the menu. I didn't expect the fried fish was coming and I was so full!!! If the logistics is slightly better, the experience will be amazing. With that said, they did help me pack the fried fish so I guess I'll 5-star them anyway.

Great local restaurant right next to the water. Away from the commotion at the city center. Was recommended to me by my local friend who lives in Venice. Food was amazing.
Ethan C — Google review
The second to seventh photo is only starters for 5 people. My family and my friends ordered fish fixed menu, it is 45€ for every person. Each of the starters were unique. The octopus was soft with tomato sauce. The fish’s are cold but tasted fishy. Clams were quite good, and the tuna and mayonnaise were very good. Then, we have fish lasagna. Cheesy and creamy. I had a lot of very delicious dishes. recommended but not the best.

Don’t eat here. I was recommended by a friend who lived locally, but as so many reviews warn, this place is a disappointment. It may once have had charm, but that’s long gone. The food is cold, bland, and completely uninspired, while the service is careless, rude, and painfully slow. The wine selection is laughable, apparently the only option is terrible Prosecco, and don’t expect wine glasses unless you specifically ask. Want seasoning for your tasteless food? Good luck, most staff will tell you they only have pepper, and only one particular person seems to know otherwise. The rudeness when attempting to pay was the final straw. I couldn’t pay without a receipt, and thankfully I didn’t - when finally given a card reader, the total was more than my bill, and they tried to overcharge me. Miserable food. Miserable service (apart from the one female staff member who was actually trying to be helpful and smiley - Thank you!). Overall a miserable experience. Don’t waste your time or money here.

While this place is being touted to tourists as a traditional local experience, I would not recommend this place for tourists. The service was abysmal, and being local or even ‘family run’ should not be an excuse. They do not have a written menu, which would be fine if the waitress/owner could be bothered to explain the menu to us. We speak Italian and even then, were only told about the pasta (primi) options and nothing else. We eventually noticed other ‘more local looking’ patrons having meat and sides dishes, but we were not told about it. We were in the dark of the pricing until it came time to pay, and there was no itemised billing, so they could have charged us whatever they wished. The food was fine, but not good enough to make us forget about the poor service and experience.

Nestled in the Santa Croce district, Vecio Fritolin is a charming restaurant that celebrates the traditional flavors of Veneto with a creative twist. The establishment prides itself on sourcing high-quality ingredients from the Rialto Market daily. Steeped in history, the rustic interior exudes an old-world charm with wooden beams and antique cookware adorning the space.
We were staying in the Realto area and I asked our hotel front desk where about a romantic restaurant with great food and service, Vecio Fritolin was one of the choices given to us and he was right, we were able to secure a table on a Saturday night. The place is intimate and cozy, service is top notch and the food taste delicious yet it's also artistic. When we arrive we said we have a reservation and they knew who we were, they offer us to sit by the window or in the back, we chose the window. Quickly our waiter and server came and offer us water or sparkling water, gave us the menus and from there it was all about us. I did the three course meal for 65eu, my wife had the catch (fish) of the day, we were able to share my appetizer and second course, the great service never stop though our dinner. Codfish sphere venetian style with black ink bread and polenta, Spaghettone Senatore Cappelli with bottarga emulsion and lemon, Duck breast with finger-lime,orange and mint sauce with summer mash potatoes, my wife had the fish of day which it was Sea Brim, all of the platters were delicious, I do thing the appetizers and first course are expensive but that doesn't take from the overall experience, the main courses were delicious and worth the price. We also had desserts, I had the Pear mousse with mango sauce and cinnamon meringue and White chocolate Bavarese with raspberry pearl and Latte di suocera, both were delicious and the presentation was amazing, coffee was excellent also. Overall Vecio Fritolin was my most expensive meal but it was all worth it, the food, service and artistic presentation of the food made it all worth it.

Beautiful little place and an experience we'll not forget. Gorgeous authentic food and a warm friendly service. The manager also wrote down her recommendations for a few bars which we visited and these too were great. Thank you Vecio Fritolin

Great service and food. The price is a little high like 35 euro for 3 cource lunch but it worth for what you get. Tyramisu was amazing.

We walked into this restaurant because the restaurant next doors was booked and the host recommended it for seafood. Service okay, prices a tad bit high. But the food stands out!!! The ravioli was exquisite, so was the prawn spaghetti. Last but not the least, tiramisu in a ball of white chocolate. Too good.

We had a truly wonderful dining experience. The food is authentic and delicious. And our waiter gave us warm attentive service. One of our group is has celiac disease and can’t eat gluten. She said it was her best dining experience at any restaurant. I highly recommend Vecio Fritolin as a great place to dine.

We had an excellent meal. Each course was presented well and full of interesting flavours. The service was also excellent and attentive. When my wife asked about how one of dishes was made the waitress got the Chef to come and he describe to her each prepraration stage. A must visit of Venice
