Kunin Wines, established in 1998 by Seth Kunin, has played a significant role in the Santa Barbara wine scene. Initially focusing on Syrah, Viognier, and Zinfandel wines, the winery has expanded its offerings to include a diverse selection of Rhone and Loire Valley varieties. Following Seth's passing in 2017, his widow Magan Kunin relocated the tasting room to Frequencys first location on Santa Barbara Street.
Really delicious wines, all of them. Sophisticated, subtle with a great guy in the tasting room who knew a lot about the wines he was pouring and the wines in general. Thanks David! Joined the wine club and took home 5 bottles.

Super awesome, it was our first experience wine tasting and Colin was super helpful in giving suggestions, history, and also just being so friendly and accommodating for us! and apparently we are way lighter weight than we though HAHA! he totally put up with us getting progressively weirder as we got more tipsy. Big thanks to Colin for being so great! Also super dog friendly, we were able to bring our dog inside :) and I don’t really understand wine too much but I thought the wines were pretty good!
Shannon K — Google review
Kunin winery is a great place to visit on your next trip to Santa Barbara. Tim and Pat where awesome with our group of 30. The wine is great and they have a great store nextdoor who can put together a charcuterie board to go along with your tasting. Definitely worth adding Kunin to your next wine tour. 👍👍👍

Dave and this lovely boutique winery saved the day! We had made reservations in Santa Barbara to two different places several weeks ago and they never bothered to call to let us know they would be closed. Quite a disappointment. We found this close by and are so glad to have paid a visit! Wonderful quality and attention to detail. The natural Chenin blanc was a pleasant surprise and the reds were mature and substantial!
Tibor — Google review
Amazing and delicious wines from the region (and beyond), great selections! Really worth stopping by to taste any of the wines. The host is very knowledgeable and passionate. The space is really great, very relaxing ambience, and they have a cute outdoor space. CAN ONLY RECOMMEND!!
Elizabeth C — Google review
Wandered in after lunch nearby, and so glad we did. Thought we were going to do two red flights, but tasted one flight of whites and one of reds because both sides of the wine list were so compelling. Whitney took excellent care of our party on the alley patio, including our little dog. Can’t wait for my first shipment in September!
Dina L — Google review
It's a place to buy their wines. I think they are some of the best in the Santa Barbara area. Clean place with straight forward tasting. I think they could use a bit more customer service skill hit this spot for is nice pour.
Ruben W — Google review
I'm totally dialed in to Santa Barbara County wines having visited and tasted wines from over 30 of the top producers from SBC. I can say that without a doubt, these are easily some of the finest wines from that region and their QPR is fantastic. Marley gave us a great tasting experience and their customer service is fantastic as well. I joined their wine club.

Municipal Winemakers is a trendy and stylish wine tasting room located in Santa Barbara's Funk Zone. The winery offers a chic atmosphere with up-cycled decor, making it an ideal spot for casual gatherings and wine tastings. It is the umbrella name for two separate brands - Muni Santa Barbara and Potek Winery, both owned by Dave Potter.
Did a winetasting that went from light white wines to dark red wines. Overall they were good over an afternoon chat with friends. However, I will probably have to make a second visit to try the winetasting again if it is a revolving taste program. The wines we tasted did not necessarily stand out that day, the notes seemed a bit muted. What was not muted however was the vibe of the location. They had an onsite DJ that evening in the front outdoor area and a really great overall energy from the staff and fellow patrons. Again, will have to make another visit.
Kevin C — Google review
Had a great time here! Great wines, good environment. Ray was a fantastic server — knowledgeable, kind, interesting conversation.
Tyler S — Google review
I have never seen a place with more immaculate vibes. The effortless design of the space should be in Architectural Digest. That design sense is reflected onto the label designs of the wines, which are also incredible.
Michael G — Google review
Awesome wines and lovely dogs welcomed me!! I liked the Pale Pink Rosé made from Grenache the most.
Сикано Р — Google review
Ok I came, I saw, I tasted. I think the decor and the vibe exceeded the wine. But this is me talking. I mean who has the same taste. I not a fan of the wine but the place had a unique vibe so that is points in my book.
Ruben W — Google review
Awesome experience in an overly bougie area, more comfortable, loved the DJ. More reasonable wine flight price. More down to earth servers. Delicious wine . Loved the red blend.
Stefanie R — Google review
Not your typical wine-tasting in the Funk Zone. Vibe changes with who is behind the counter, and if you are a fan of natural wines, this is THE place to go check out. The Bubbly makes for a great mimosa, too. There is usually a food truck close by or right in front.

If you're searching for low key, unpretentious winery in Santa Barbara, then you have to visit Municipal Winemakers. It's an excellent spot with a welcoming eclectic atmosphere, and the staff is knowledgeable and passionate about their wine. They offer an extensive selection of wines, ranging from bold reds to crisp whites, and their blends are truly unique. The tasting room is eclectically furnished made from repurposed old office furniture , and the ambiance is very relaxed. Municipal Winemakers is also notable for its commitment to sustainability, utilizing only locally sourced, sustainably farmed grapes and striving to reduce their environmental impact. The staff is friendly and always happy to describe the flavors and characteristics of each wine. They take the time to ensure that your experience is enjoyable and informative. For a fantastic wine tasting experience in the 805 area, be sure to visit Municipal Winemakers. It's a decision you won't regret

Carr Winery is a must-visit spot in downtown Santa Barbara, specializing in limited production wines like Pinot Gris, Syrah, Grenache, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Franc. The winery's inviting tasting room is housed in a 1940s Quonset hut and offers a relaxing ambiance for wine tastings and enjoying wine by the glass or tap. Carr Winery takes pride in precision farming and producing boutique wines since 1999.
We decided to do a Carr tasting because our friends have been members for years, the winery offers Cab Francs, which we love and believe are under appreciated, the tasting room looked cool in photos, and it was within walking distance of our hotel. The tasting room and tasting bar were even cooler in person and we enjoyed tasting the wines on the shaded patio, led by our excellent tasting guide, who was well-schooled in the wines on offer. We especially liked the Cab Franc and joined their Cab Franc Club. Of course this was no surprise to us because we’ve had their wines before, at our friends’ house. When we were planning our Santa Barbara trip I said “no more wine clubs,” but we made an exception for Carr.
John A — Google review
Awesome experience. We visited Carr the other weekend and had the best time. Our sever was so knowledgeable and fun, and all the wines were amazing. The patio was so pleasant at sunset. All in all, we had the best experience. Can’t wait to stop by again!!
Kendall H — Google review
Wines are a bit young and fruit forward for us. We always enjoyed the cellar raid. Great snacks and discounted aged wines. Their wines age very well. We always loved their 5 to 10 year old bottles.
CR250R — Google review
Great service and wine! We did the cupcake and wine pairing, so good! 🧁 + 🍷 = 💗
Crystal L — Google review
Terrible terrible service…or actually sorry, LACK OF SERVICE. Every table had complimentary snacks except us. We waited almost 20 mins in between our pours. We basically had to go up to the server to ask him for our next few pours for the tasting. As he poured, he blankly just stated the type of wine and nothing about it. The table next to us with the same server had to go up and get their menus. The other tables had such a nice, pleasant lady (Vanessa) serving them. We almost moved tables due to the service. A little tip for Alberto - if you hate your job, don’t work in hospitality. It really shows.
S — Google review
Excellent winery! Great ambiance. One of the few remaining actual wineries in Santa Barbara (not just a tasting room). Enjoy sipping the fine wine while overlooking the barrels around you. May want to bring a jacket because the climate indoors is optimized for the wine, not you.
Jack G — Google review
Reasonable price with good quality of wine. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Jamie Slone Wines is a charming winery located in the bustling downtown Presidio region of Santa Barbara. The comfortable tasting room and cafe-style outdoor patio offer a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy their award-winning wines, including Albarino, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Sparkling, Rose, Pinot Noir, Grenache, Red blends, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Kim was awesome and so much fun to hang out and chat with! I had some friends visiting from Japan. And luckily, we stumbled into Jamie Slone's for some wine tasting! The wines smelled great (I no longer drink). But my friends really enjoyed the wine tasting and atmosphere! My friends also took many pictures 😂🙏 We'll definitely be back to visit! Thanks for the hospitality, Kim!
Paco M — Google review
I stepped inside, unsure of what to expect, simply seeking a quiet retreat from the Fiesta festivities. I left as a member. Kym’s expertise and undeniable passion for wine made the experience unforgettable. One sip was all it took—I will be back soon. Thank you, Kym and Jamie!
Tracey F — Google review
Became a member of the wine tour and Jamie Slone was one of the wine tours. Such an amazing time and experience. We did the cheese and chocolate pairings- highly recommend. I’m a fan of reds and purchased the Apex. My friend bought the Chardonnay. The best wine tasting so far on our journey.
Michelle F — Google review
We had the pleasure of doing a tasting with Jamie Slone and his lovely wife at their tasting room in Santa Barbara. We are from AZ - and the are U of A grads. We are primarily from ASU (rivals!) but somehow we found commonality in tasting their amazing wines. We were there way too long and walked out with fabulous wines. The ambience, the company and the wines were the perfect combination for a memorable afternoon. I highly recommend this tasting room as well as this wonderful couple. They are passionate, knowledgable and engaging. We had a great time! Cheers to your continued success and we will see you here in AZ when you deliver our wines.
Suzanne H — Google review
Fantastic little spot. Stopped in to get some work done while my fiance was doing yoga next door. Wonderful wine of course but the owners Jamie and Kim were extremely welcoming and fun. Definitely recommend checking them out and enjoying their Cabernet and apex red blend. There Cab was one of the best in SB winery’s for sure!
Ethan M — Google review
Another great visit to Jamie Slone Wines. Always an enjoyable experience. Jamie and Kym are friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. I always learn something new as an aspiring vinophile! And then there are the wines. Everything I've had at JSW is amazing. Be sure and stop by when you are in Santa Barbara. You won't be disappointed!
C B — Google review
Ms. Kym (the owner) she is so amazing and knowledgeable about all of the different wines. She was very personable and kind she made us feel like we were right at home. I would definitely recommend Jamie Slone Wines to anyone that’s in Santa Barbara.

Jamie and Kim not only make delicious wine, they provide the best wine tasting experience in Santa Barbara. Their European style tasting room and natural friendliness make it one of our favorite spots to visit!

Experience the ultimate date night at The Valley Project in Santa Barbara's Funk Zone. This eclectic wine tasting room offers a palatable tour of the region's unique American Viticulture Areas (AVAs). The contemporary space showcases small-batch wines from each of the county's six AVAs, allowing visitors to explore the diverse terroirs and flavors. With a passion for showcasing Santa Barbara's thriving wines, The Valley Project provides an inviting atmosphere with tall windows and a modern chalkboard backdrop.
There are SO MANY wine tasting rooms in the area, but make this one a priority! While some of them drop your flight on the table and leave you with an info sheet, The Valley Project is an immersive experience. The guys know their stuff -- from history of the region to the winemaking process -- and they refer frequently to the huge (and entertaining!) wall map to provide context for the wines they highlight. And each bottle we tasted was excellent.
Roger F — Google review
Great wine tasting. By flight, glass or bottle - Zach is awesome. He knows his wines and describes them in a very entertaining, passionate and figurative speech that left me hanging on his lips. The wine was delicious - I loved the Albariño. Thanks for a good time.
Margit G — Google review
My first ever wine tasting and it was brilliant I’m from London so to try some wines from California. We did the red tastings the guy explained with passion and I found the whole experience fascinating and the wine was top notch
Mark J — Google review
Excellent experience here. Zach was very knowledgeable and gave my wife and me a thorough and informative wine tasting. We bought three bottles: their Sauvignon blanc, chenin blanc, and carignan. Highly recommend you stop by! We’ve been to many of the tasting rooms in the Funk Zone but this is our favorite in terms of quality and service.
Angelo E — Google review
First wine tasting we went to in SB.. the place is decorated with informative art and books. The bartender was very friendly and answered all our questions. As other reviews have said, it's great starting point for getting into wines of SB and surrounding area. I'd recommend starting here and then going to other tastings so you get a good lay of the land.
Rucha — Google review
Their Spanish Albariño is amazing. Very knowledgeable and welcoming staff. Very chill atmosphere. Highly recommend stopping by.
Christian C — Google review
Had an afternoon to explore the Funk Zone and all the tasting rooms, restaurants, and tap houses but ended up getting stuck at The Valley Project and Kunin Wines for a couple hours. Tim was the tasting room associate and provided a great experience with a ton of information about the wine, regions of the AVA's and Santa Barbara itself. Lots of different wines available and it's a unique experience tasting wines from different grapes and regions. Super fun and a great time. If you cant decide between all the tasting rooms to visit, just make sure The Valley Project is one of them and make sure you ask for Tim. He's the man! Cheers!
Tim A — Google review
We did a quick stop here in June, as they were closing. Graham was working, he was very welcoming even at closing time. He poured us Mourvedre, amazing wine. Graham took his time telling us about SB, the wine, and good places to eat around town. So needless to say the service is amazing, and wine that matches. We would love to come back and try other wines and spend more time here.

The Margerum Santa Barbara Tasting Room is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. Founded by Doug Margerum, a prominent figure in the local wine community, this modern tasting room offers an array of delightful wines to sample. The acclaimed Sybarite sauvignon blanc is a standout with its balanced mix of bright acidity and minerality alongside fuller-bodied stone fruit flavors. The venue's scenic views and contemporary interior provide an inviting setting for enjoying these fine wines.
Margerum Santa Barbara Tasting Room was a fantastic spot for a relaxed and elevated experience. We enjoyed a beautiful cheese and charcuterie board paired with a bottle of sparkling wine, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully arranged. For dessert, we tried their truffle chocolates and an affogato — the chocolates were rich, smooth, and artfully crafted, while the affogato was creamy, bold, and the perfect finish to the tasting. The outdoor seating was peaceful and charming, making it an ideal place to sip, snack, and unwind.

I stop by this wine tasting place on a Saturday after beach time in Santa Barbara. It wasn't crowded and the atmosphere makes you feel relaxed. From the waitress (a blond young girl, very kind and friendly) to the chef David, who approached to our table and kindly brought us a Brochetas to enjoy with the wine. We got later a margarita pizza that was so delicious. I can't wait to come back to this place in Santa Barbara and try more of the appetizers in the menu by David. Another positive thing is the parking is next to this place.
Fabiana P — Google review
It's a gorgeous place with excellent wine and food and a great ambiance, but what really stands out is the staff. I called last minute to make a reservation on behalf of VIPs travelling from out of town. I spoke first with Alisia at their corporate office, who was so kind and helpful and personally connected me with Lisa in the Santa Barbara tasting room. Lisa went way out of her way to make everything truly special. Her communication was top notch and professional. She seated my boss and her guest in a fantastic location, shared information on food/beverage options, checked about allergies, and was generally a joy to work with. She made the experience both leading up to the visit and onsite seamless. Our guest left raving about the visit and already planning a return trip. Thank you!

I love coming to Margerum. One of the best tasting rooms in Santa Barbara. Their warm and friendly hospitality makes everything even better. Meg always takes care of us. She is so attentive, hospitable friendly and knowledgable about the wine. Her warm and charismatic personality makes you feel at home. So if you ever come to Margerum come and ask for Meg. She will take care of you. I love to pair the Cinsult wine with a prossciuto and arugula flat bread. so delicious!

I recently visited this wine tasting place in Santa Barbara and had an excellent experience. The venue is clean and tidy, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The staff was incredibly nice and knowledgeable, enhancing our visit with their expertise. The wine we chose was really good and is made in-house, which added a special touch to the tasting. Overall, it was a great experience, and I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy some quality wine.
R M — Google review
Came here with friends and it was fine. Nothing was amazing but nothing was bad. There was a good selection of wines at many price points. The flat breads and cheeses were pretty good. Our server was very nice and funny but didn't really explain the different cheeses on the cheese board or much about the wines. I would definitely go back again. There were no major issues here and we had a perfectly lovely time.
Craig L — Google review
Wine selection was OK but tasting was more expensive than others and pours were on the light side. Staff was nice but commentary on wines was pretty high level. I wouldn’t recommend this one for tasting - $100 for two tastings with tip didn’t deliver on value we’d hoped. Edit: Dropped my review down to 1 star due to the snarky response from the owner. To be clear; there are two wine tasting options on the menu and both are $40 per person. you can skip this one.
Sarah P — Google review
To fairly assess a winery/tasting room I look for several factors; the space, the wines, and culinary options. I’ve visited Margerum twice, and unfortunately, both visits left me disappointed. The Space & Ambience:
The tasting room itself has a Mediterranean exterior, matches the hotel across the street so Margerum must be renting the spot. The interior has two levels, a second level intended for member wine storage and events along with the lower serving area. At first glance, it looks impressive. But once upstairs, I noticed the heat —add people and lights, and it’s more like a toaster than a wine lounge. Wines stored in that heat is not good for the wine. As someone who cares about wine integrity I was particularly concerned about seeing wine stored in warm places. (Members can wait months to pick up their warmed wines). On top of the improper upper storage I see the magnums of red & white wines are stored above their lower level refrigerators, where heat from the the cooling units rises. For wines that move (sell) slowly, that’s a recipe for premature aging. Wine presentation is one thing, but storage conditions matter even more. It’s as if a turn and burn philosophy is the goal? I on the other hand want good wines. The wine industry is in a slump and treating wines like that shows a level of mismanagement. The Wines:
To me, the wines felt average. I tasted several Syrahs and a few whites that lacked distinction. One Pinot stood out as balanced and enjoyable, but overall, I didn’t feel the French-inspired style they were shooting for quite hit the mark. The Food:
This was the highlight. The dishes were prepared well, fresh, and flavorful. I ordered a salad & a flatbread and appreciated the presentation. However, the Amaro Affogato fell short; they served it swimming in cold coffee rather than being the indulgent French-inspired espresso dessert one might expect. Why? An affogato is treat and should be treated as such. Still, the food was definitely the strongest part of the Margerum experience. The Service:
Here’s where the visit truly suffered. On one occasion, we were rushed through our tasting, which isn’t the goal of tasting wine. On the other visit I witnessed several negative interactions with what I’d assume is the manager, an older lady, addressing staff in front of guests in a way that felt rude and uncomfortable. On the second interaction the manager lady was short and rude to the customers sitting next to us. It was enough for the customers to look at us and comment on what happened. Customer engagement was inconsistent. In an area like Santa Barbara, excellent hospitality is the goal, this was disappointing. Service is a huge part of a tasting room experience, and unfortunately, Margerum falls short. Overall: Is it a bar, a winery, a lounge, I’m not sure if they know? If you’re looking for a quick glass of wine and aren’t too concerned about wine quality or service Margerum might be fine for you. But for serious wine lovers or those seeking a thoughtful tasting experience, there are many other tasting rooms in Santa Barbara that provide balanced wines, better storage practices, and more attentive service.

The tasting room features floor-to-ceiling windows and a spacious patio, creating the perfect blend of traditional tasting room and wine bar. Pali Wine Co. specializes in pinot noir and chardonnay, with an emphasis on premium single-vineyard and AVA-specific wines from top West Coast vineyards.
Fantastic experience today at Pali! We shared a carafe and tried some interesting wines. A large variety of wines to suit all tastes and a good atmosphere. Very friendly staff, shout out to Jennifer who made our experience very special! We will be back!

Tasty wines and wonderful staff💛 Stopped by here walking around Santa Barbara and ordered a flight to get a taste of both white and reds. I loved that they had that option! The lady who helped me was very kind and knowledgeable and yapped with me during my visit there. I felt very welcomed and hope to come back soon!

In the industry, and I wouldn’t recommend this spot to a beginner..zero knowledge or info on the wines from the tasting room mgr, just a splash and dash at best. Unfortunately the wines are not nearly the quality that they used to be…sad. A hard pass.
T K — Google review
Really nice place to hang out and have some wine. There's a spacious covered patio and trendy interior, and they offer glasses, bottles and tasting flights. The only drawback is the tasting is a little pricier than others for no clear reason.
Christopher R — Google review
Drafted wines were so flavorful. This store at this location closes quite early , I think this is the thing in SB most of the wine restaurant are closed early. We were there by 7:45 pm on Sunday I guess. So they were just able to serve the wine is glass but we could not try the flights which we were excited to try. Also the food trucks are closed much early. Also the store itself provides some appetizers but even that was closed. Sit out is really gorgeous. It looks so warm- perfect to spend time with your loved once.
Priyanka B — Google review
The wine in general is great and the slushy goes down super easy and is so refreshing on a hot day or any day.
Grant N — Google review
Great wine but poor customer service. We have tried going here twice during the winter but the staff there closes the place down super early. Called to confirm they were open until 7pm, the staff confirmed, we arrived at 6pm to find out we couldn't order flights (because it was an hour from closing time) and then at 6:15 they had their last call. Frustrating to say the least...
David O — Google review
If you go close to 6 pm/closing time, they'll not have tastings/flights but only serve wine by the glass. This is a place I regretted going late to because I'd have loved to taste more wines here. They do mainly natural wines ie. fermented by the natural yeast in the air. They also do unfiltered wines, which means they might have some sediment at the bottom of bottle. Service was friendly and the staff were knowledgeable. I'd definitely visit again.

Nestled in the picturesque oasis of Santa Barbara, the renowned Santa Barbara Winery stands as a testament to the region's rich viticultural history. Established in 1962 by Pierre Lafond, it holds the distinction of being the oldest winery in Santa Barbara County and was pivotal in reviving winemaking after Prohibition. Initially relying on grapes from northern California, Lafond planted the area's first vineyard just two years later, setting a foundation for local wine production.
We loved our visit! My husband and I each tried different wines in our tastings, and everything was fantastic! They give you a separate glass to drink from instead of the little shot glasses.

I have always been a fan of Santa Barbara Winery... back in the day, I used to come up here for their Riesling. They used to be a little sweeter than the current one on the list now but I had a taste of the Dry Riesling and it was crisp and complimentary to any spicy dish or refreshing enough for a summer meal. While I was there I also chose a 2018 Petit Verdot a lush red wine to which my daughter didn't waste any time trying... she gave it an enthusiastic THUMBS UP! If you like the Boudreaux region you should definitely try this one. If you happen to come up and find yourself wanting an impromptu picnic on the beach they have items here for your basket. Plenty of seating around the main tasting area with additional seating out on the deck with plenty of shade. Oh yea and high top tables inside as well. Respectfully Reviewed.

On Monday, April 7, I was visiting Santa Barbara from Oregon. A significant wine industry region. My daughter and I visited Santa Barbara Winery around 1pm. I was shocked for the poor winery service we received. The wine steward was rude treating us disrespectful, making rude comments about my ice cream, and neglecting us. Did not explained about the wine selection. She was not genuinely enjoying her job. She stated had no recommendation. "Red wine is red wine." She had no service etiquette. We walked away. Do the same walk away.

State your hours accurately on Google. The tasting room has been closed since Sept 1st but you still show as open. Could've save us a trip, I'm just sayin....

Well this was my first time wine tasting. The staff gave me a menu and instructed me to choose 5 different wines. I explained I am a simple dude who drinks Coors Light and gets coffee from Arco. I asked them to choose for me which they were more than happy to do. My wife and I ended up buying two bottles of wine, some crackers, and a chocolate bar. The tasting area was very clean and nicely decorated, but oddly, the stools were plain metal and not very comfortable. All in all, I had a good time.

Nice tasting Some tid bits available for purchase I was more interested in the wine - was on a walking wine tour with a complimentary glass of sauv blanc! Very nice very mild - perfect for an afternoon drink and experience. I will return! The nice thing about all these tasting rooms is that they are on the one street close, open and inviting!

Nestled on Stearns Wharf, the Deep Sea Tasting Room is a delightful haven for wine enthusiasts and ocean lovers alike. This cozy spot showcases Conway Family Wines and boasts breathtaking 360-degree views of the Santa Barbara Harbor, Pacific coastline, Channel Islands, and Riviera. Guests can savor their favorite wines while enjoying the chic interiors or relaxing on the outdoor deck that overlooks stunning sunsets. The tasting room offers a selection of seasonal wines to sample through curated flights or by the glass.
By far, the best wine tasting room if you are the type of person who loves being near the water. I love the location, this is out on the wharf. Cute spot. You have to walk upstairs to get on the second level floor so for anyone who has difficulty going up stairs I’m not sure if they have an elevator to access the building. Other than that, the location is beautiful. Everyone there is very friendly. The view is spectacular and the wines are tasty. Our favorite being the deep sea brand.
T H — Google review
The view and wine here are very good, but I'm giving this three stars due to the process and policies, which turned a beautiful, relaxing afternoon into an annoying chore. It was another lucky 75° Santa Barbara "winter" day and this wine bar is located right on Stearns Wharf... On the second floor, with an amazing, unobstructed view of the mountains and ocean. I went up to the counter to purchase the five flight red tasting, the girl friendly and bubbly, gave me a small, measured pour, 1oz? Very small. and told me to come back when I was ready for the next one. I didn't think anything of it and I went outside, had a sip, started to enjoy the beauty of the day. quickly realized, I'd need to go back inside number of times in order to continue to get the next glass... And the next... And the next... Interrupting the vibe. So I went I'm and asked the girl for all the times at once and she said... no I thought that was strange so I asked her if there was a law prohibiting her all of the ones at once and she said no. They just would run out of glasses. She pointed me to the area right next to her at the bar... which had eell over 200 glasses sitting there as there was nobody but two people in the bar, which had maybe 25 tables. I thought this was strange and I asked her. There's nobody here. You're not going to run out of the glasses. She said that if she did it for me she'd have to do it for everybody else here. I pointed out there were two other people here, but she just walked away. Although it might seem like a fairly minor issue, $30 for 5 sips of wine is pretty steep. I would recommend to management that rather than tell their customers to be their own waiters, they buy a few more glasses. Maybe 1000 glasses will be enough to serve 3 people next time.

We visited Deep Sea Tasting Room on the Santa Barbara Wharf and it quickly became one of our favorite stops in town. The location is unbeatable — right over the water with a terrace that offers stunning panoramic views of the ocean, the coastline, and the mountains in the distance. It’s the kind of place where you can just sit back, enjoy the sea breeze, and let time slow down. We ordered two glasses of wine and were impressed by both the quality and the way they were served — perfectly chilled, with attentive and friendly service. The wine list is well thought out, showcasing local selections that pair beautifully with the atmosphere. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick drink or planning to linger and soak in the views, Deep Sea is an excellent choice. It’s relaxed yet elegant, and the terrace alone is worth the visit. Highly recommended if you’re in Santa Barbara and want a memorable spot to enjoy a great glass of wine by the water.

Knowledgeable staff and a beautiful view! No better feeling than having a nice glass of Pinot while watching the sailboats pass by. I was staying in Santa Barbara for only 2 days but came here twice because I loved it so much. Each time the staff were very kind and told us all about their wines as we got a red flight and a white flight. Not a single miss on any of them either, every single one was delightful. I plan to come back soon for another!

Tasting room on Stearns Wharf in Santa Barbara. Went for a wine tasting in the evening and had a wonderful time. Staff was friendly and accommodating, and all the wines were delicious. Views from the wharf were lovely, especially during sundown/sunset. Indoor and outdoor seating available, and one restroom available. They do wines by the bottle and by the glass, and offered charcuterie boards.

The Deep Sea Wine Tasting Room on the Santa Barbara Pier offers an unforgettable experience for wine enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. The location is spectacular, perched right on the pier with panoramic views of the ocean and coastline. It's a perfect spot to relax and enjoy some excellent wines. The selection of wines is impressive, featuring a variety of local and regional options. Each tasting comes with detailed descriptions and the staff are extremely knowledgeable, providing insights into the nuances of each wine and the winemaking process. The ambiance is laid-back and inviting, with plenty of seating both indoors and on the outdoor deck. The views alone are worth the visit, but the quality of the wines and the friendly, informative service make it truly special. It's an ideal place to spend an afternoon or evening, soaking in the beauty of Santa Barbara while sipping on some fantastic wines.Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area or looking for a unique wine tasting experience!

Great view of the pier looking at the sea. $20 tasting for two whites, two reds and a rose. Unfortunately I couldn’t finish any of them as the wine was undrinkable. The worst table wine in Europe is better than this one. My advice, come here for the atmosphere, view and friendliness but if you want to enjoy a good Californian wine go somewhere else. Also, the pier has free parking for 90mins

The Santa Barbara Wine Collective is a relaxed and stylish venue located in the Funk Zone, offering wine tasting flights and retail sales of wines from local producers. The collective showcases wines from five different wineries, including The Pairing & The Hilt, Notary Public, Fess Parker, Babcock Winery, and CaDel Grevino.
We throughout enjoyed our tastings at the wine collective. The gentleman helping us was very friendly and knowledgable in the wines that were part of the red and white tastings. It was great getting to taste from many of the different producers in the local area. The selection was very solid and even the wines we didn’t like as much were still well made. The atmosphere was nice and the tasting area is in a fun part of town. Overall, I would recommend doing a tasting here.

Casual wine pairings showcasing regional wines from the area. Our server was a professional sommellier who gave us a lot of info and guidance during our wine tasting session last June 2024. The food pairing reco was spot on as well. During the mornings the wine bar also serves as a bakery. The place is tasteful, relaxing, and roomy with a crafted industrial feel. A great place to unwind and chill with friends and to learn more about the wine culture.

Well what a treat! We have walked by a few times and never pulled in. What a mistake that was. The cheeses were also fabulous, great job. We will be back and will bring others! Thank you.

Went here for my girlfriends birthday. We had the red flight and the women wine makers flight. They were both fantastic. The ambiance was nice. Rustic, outdoorsy but still classy and elegant in its own way. But the BEST PART of the experience in my opinion was Matthew. He was helping us out at the bar and he was so nice. Super friendly and professional. Not to mention how knowledgeable he was about the wine. Guy really knows his stuff. So thanks Matthew! Keep up the great work man

Had a nice private event here. The wait staff was nice, but for how many worked the event, they were not very on top of missing silverware/napkins. Food served with nothing to eat it with repeatedly. An area to improve but a nice overall experience. If you have any hearing issues, it was loud. The live music, combined with the size group we had, as well as background kitchen noise (blender) was a little challenging. Compliments to the chef though! Each dish was lovely. Reviews were only hit or miss on the dessert.

My partner and I went here to start off my birthday and we had the best time. Our server was Zoey and she was nothing short of amazing! I liked it so much I bought three bottles and joined their wine club! 😅 All in all this was such a great spot and I’m glad it was my first stop. We organized a small gathering here a couple months in advance and the staff were very accommodating. Visitors can expect knowledgeable and welcoming team members who are ready to assist with selecting the perfect bottle or customizing membership orders. The comfortable and casual atmosphere of the tasting room and patio adds to the overall fantastic experience.
The staff are friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and extremely professional! We learn so much while we are enjoying tastings-and Goleta which is such a great town- has a lot to offer, a lot more than it did when I attended UCSB in the mid-70s! What can I say about the wines? Superior, exquisite, subtle (and simultaneously complex with character!) delicious and expertly crafted. Samsara wines are truly extraordinary as is the experience of tasting their wines!

"Longoria On State" is a new addition to Santa Barbara, offering a fantastic wine tasting experience. The beautiful tasting room provides indoor seating and a sunny back patio. Situated near great restaurants and shopping in Downtown Santa Barbara, it showcases some of the best Santa Barbara County varietals. The welcoming staff, often including the owners themselves, are knowledgeable and create an amazing experience for both small and large gatherings.
We stopped into Longoria Wines on State Street for the first time on an Aug 2024 visit to Santa Barbara. The space has a modern, hip vibe with comfy seating and big windows perfect for people watching along State Street. Sam was super welcoming, very attentive and incredibly knowledgeable. We were visiting right after the 5-day Old Spanish Days celebration in SB, so they still had a Fiesta tasting menu to choose from, in addition to the regular "Longoria's Latest" and "Blind Faith" tastings. We opted for each of the regular tastings and enjoyed them all. It's easy to see why this is a 5-star wine room - great wine, great ambiance, great people!

Brent was warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. He made the planning process easy and enjoyable. And on the day of the event, both Sam and Brent were the perfect hosts—attentive, gracious, and full of positive energy. The venue itself is perfection. The interior had just the right vibe for our wedding party—stylish, intimate, and inviting. The wine tasting was a highlight, with a fantastic assortment that everyone raved about. We loved every moment. Huge thanks to Sam and Brent for setting the perfect tone. Highly recommend!

Restaurant
La Super-Rica Taqueria is a renowned Mexican eatery in Santa Barbara, known for its fish tacos, tamales, and other authentic dishes. Despite its modest setting and long lines, it has gained fame partly due to the late Julia Child's endorsement. The restaurant's traditional recipes have been passed down through generations, offering a taste of genuine Mexican cuisine.
La Super Rica is an absolute gem in Santa Barbara! During our six-day visit, we couldn’t resist coming back three times—it’s just that good. The food tastes like a homemade masterpiece, full of authentic, fresh flavors that you won’t find anywhere else. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience that we’ll be raving about for years!
Sam — Google review
We enjoyed our time at La Super Rica. We liked the tacos de adobado as well as chorizo tacos/quesadillas. The meat was the star of the show to us. I felt that it was really well made and the tortillas were also good. We also got the chile con queso which neither of us loved. Overall, our food was solid and I am glad we came here but I did feel that it was overhyped for what it was. Note- it is cash only.

I almost hesitate to tell you how great this place is because I don’t want it to get overrun! Everything about this place is 5 star excellent. Nestled in the vibrant Kimpton Canary Hotel, Finch & Fork is a stylish yet unassuming New American farm-to-table restaurant that offers a diverse array of dishes perfect for any occasion. Classy spot with great food and incredible service. We visited to try the new Vegan items on their SB Vegan Chef challenge menu, and we were not disappointed. We got the tostadas from the challenge menu + the mushroom dan dan noodles and the beluga lentils from their normal dinner menu. It was all out of this world delicious. I would go back for the dan dan noodles everyday if I could. They also have amazing mocktails and NA beer. I tried the Spicy AF mocktail with zero proof tequila and was pleasantly surprised. We went on a Monday evening and it was pretty quiet so we got above and beyond service from our server and the manager. The location is stunning. The walk down to the bathroom is gorgeous. I’d come back anytime!

Went here recently with my family to celebrate my mother's birthday because we have been multiple times before and she expressed this was one of her favorite restaurants in Santa Barbara. Specifically the Brussels Sprouts! Sadly, the Brussels sprouts were no longer on the menu as they were our favorite dish, gone. Even the waiter agreed and was unsure why they removed them from the menu. However, that truly did not ruin our experience at all. We ordered quite a bit of things and enjoyed the night because everything was good! We ordered the deviled eggs, which were small and nothing too crazy, but a good option to share for the table! We also ordered the kung pao cauliflower. Now this dish, took us all by complete surprise and quite honestly, stole the show for the whole night. We legit ended up ordering 3 in total because of how good these were. The sauce, the crunch on the cauliflower, the little spice backed by sweet, this was some bomb cauliflower. Would ABSOLUTELY come back just for this dish truly. We all would! The Tomato Veloute, Pork Chop, Short Rib Pappardelle, Scallops and Catch of the Day were all very tasty and good options! Oysters are amazing. A great amount of liquor in them! My only suggestion would definitely be the broccolini. We each took 1-2 bites, just not good. It barely had any flavor and almost tasted like it was undercooked. Would not recommend it, but definitely does not overshadow the rest of the phenomenal dishes. Highly recommend it for a good night out with friends and family and you MUST get the Kung Pao Cauliflower. HAVE TO!

I would have never guessed this was part of a hotel 🏨😮! Such a fun spot for brunch 🥞✨. They had a unique twist on classic recipes 🍳🍠—everything was refreshing, tasty, and full of flavor 😋🌿. You can tell the ingredients are high quality and super fresh. Our server Erik was amazing 🙌—so attentive and kind. Big thank you to him for making the experience even better! 💙👏 Definitely a hidden gem I’d come back to! 🌟🍴

Great restaurant attached to the Kimpton Canary Hotel. Staff was excellent and friendly and the food was delicious. We had both a dinner there (the black cod in coconut curry was a great choice) and breakfast (definitely get the short rib sweet potato hash). Surprise highlight are the deviled eggs. We loved them so much we had them twice. And the foccacia bread is light, fluffy, and filled with delicious herbiness. Since we booked through Chase's The Edit program, we had credits toward both meals, which certainly made the cost more reasonable, but I would say that the restaurant is good enough that I would have happily paid full price.

We’re from out of town on our honeymoon and saw this restaurant on Google and it looked great! The Poblano burger I had was excellent. I typically eat fast (thanks military!) but this burger had so many layers of flavor to it. You have to dissect the taste of each bite. It’s complex and delicious. The fries were the perfect amount of crispy and salty, also complex in its flavor. Food came quickly from the kitchen! Jaime, our server was attentive and polite. The atmosphere is quiet, modern, and minimal

Finch & Fork restaurant is inside the Kimpton Canary Hotel; an IHG chain. It’s a great restaurant with great menu choices that satisfies all tastes. We had the 12 ounces steak 🥩; it was tender and delicious. The wild caught Salmon 🍣 was not fishy at all. The Caesar salad 🥗 was really tasty and fresh. Breakfast is (ok) for my taste. I had breakfast there because it was included. Otherwise, I wouldn’t go there for breakfast again. Thanks to Robert and Erick and his team for a great service 🙏🌹

Ordered room service from here at the Kimpton Canary Hotel. The service was quick and the food was phenomenal. I loved every single thing I tried. The bacon breakfast burrito was delicious and all the ingredients inside were cooked perfectly. The avocado toast was so flavorful and refreshing. The French fries had a perfect texture. The smoked salmon bagel was loaded and the salmon was very fresh. Not pictured is the OPP brunch cocktail and that was also a delicious, light cocktail to get your day started. I highly recommend this restaurant. Will definitely be back

My friend and I went to Finch and Folk for Happy Hour on Sunday. Sun-Thursday, their Happy hour is from 4-6. Drinks are $10. They also have menu items you can purchase. The bartender was friendly and helpful. We ordered deviled eggs and Mac 'n Cheese. The bar is beautiful and fully stocked. You can sit in the lounge area on comfy seats or at the bar. The bathrooms are located down the stairs, or by elevator. We had dinner reservations for 5 p.m. as we were going to see Nickel Creek at the Granada Theatre. My friend had Scallops and Peaches and Burrata Cheese. I had a dish with Cauliflower and Purple Potatoes. I spent around 30 dollars for dinner and my friend spent around 60 dollars for her dinner and dessert. Our waiter was fun. He had a wonderful personality and was a huge help in serving us and getting us out the door to our concert. The dining room is beautiful and well-appointed. Please see the attached photos.

Pizza restaurant
Lucky Penny is a laid-back spot in the Funk Zone that offers both pizza and coffee. It's part of Acme Hospitality, which also runs several other popular eateries in the area. The pizzeria is known for its wood-fired pizzas, with a special daily option based on seasonal ingredients. In addition to pizza, they serve panini sandwiches, sides like wood-fired fingerling potatoes, and customizable salads.
My wife was looking for a gluten-free pizza place and found it on Google. We didn’t realize that we were in an area in Santa Barbara called The Funk Zone, which was a very neat area that was very lively and fun to experience. This place has a walk up window where you order and all seating is outside. The food was very delicious, and it was just a nice atmosphere overall.
Jeff Y — Google review
We stopped by Lucky Penny in Santa Barbara and I have to say—this place absolutely lived up to the hype! I ordered the Salty Surfer pizza with a few customizations: I swapped the peppers for mushrooms and kept the pineapple and prosciutto combo. The vodka-based sauce tied it all together beautifully. The crust was phenomenal—crispy, chewy, and packed with flavor. Truly one of the best pizzas I’ve had in a long time! The frozen margarita was perfect for the warm weather—refreshing, balanced, and hit the spot. We also tried the Caesar salad, which wasn’t quite to our taste—the dressing had a very bold, strong flavor that didn’t quite work for us. We also ordered the pepperoni pizza, which was decent, but the Salty Surfer definitely stole the show. The only downside was the seating—we were with a group including kids, and there just wasn’t enough shade, which made it a bit uncomfortable in the heat. Overall, though, the food—especially the Salty Surfer pizza—and the atmosphere made for a great experience. I’d definitely return (hopefully with a bit more shade next time)!

Very unique pizza. Had incredible flavor and a wonderful California atmosphere. The pesto pizza, the Mexican Street corn, and the cheese pizza are very unique and interesting. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Dr. R — Google review
I wanted to like the pizza more because it looks really good. But the truth is my east coast pepperoni pizza was greasy and blackened. I understand it's wood fired pie and bits of char are to be expected. But the overwhelming flavor was blackened char. The bottom of the pizza was mostly black. The sauce is super plain, I prefer pizza sauce with herbs and basil. The crust is good. The beer was outrageously priced at $11 for the IPA on draft and it, disappointingly, comes in a plastic cup. You order at the window, they give you a number, then bring you your food. The courtyard is beautiful with its lovely flowers and atmosphere. The Funk District is much less funky than I expected. I expected more art and more of a vibe. There's a couple murals and some flyers on telephone poles. I guess that qualifies as Funk in such a ritzy town

Cute spot in Funk zone. Plenty of tables and greenery; really a family friendly envirnment. Staff is friendly and we can change up the pizza order to exactly what we want. We got the hot girl pizza and added chicken. Definitely recommend. My daughter loved having some leftovers. We will be going back.

One of our favorite pizza spots in Santa Barbara. After living there a few years ago, it's so nice to go back and enjoy it again. Ordered 2 pizzas (east coast pepperoni and hot girl pizza) and they were both amazing! Also ordered 2 Italian chopped salads which were so fresh. We had a group of 4, so the 2 pizzas and 2 salads were perfect for us. Tons of outdoor seating which was a great environment and relaxing. Great selection of beer and drinks! Staff was super helpful and really nice! :) Highly recommend bringing friends to Lucky Penny in the funk zone!

They pretty much burned our pizza. We came from a long travel, picked up a pepperoni and a californian pizza, pepperoni was burned beyond enjoyment, ee had to go back for another 15 min drive but they did replace it thankfully. Wish they would have done it right in the 1st place.

All around A+. The happy hour value is UNBELIEVABLE. Some of the best happy hour food I’ve ever encountered post covid. $7 for a giant bbq sandwich that blew us all away, madness, this is a steal. Avocado salad with broccoli that would convert any carnivore, a precious memory I’ll never forget. $7 margs that made me one happy mom, thank you for your service. Crew was outstanding. Outdoor seating with ample shade, a real treat. If I lived closer, I’d be coming here weekly. This is one of the best family friendly restaurants I’ve visited in years. So thrilled I found this gem!

Nice spot in the Funk Zone. The food was good and fresh, great for a relaxed break. Service was okay. Loved the hibiscus margarita — fresh and original! They had a happy hour from 1 to 5 PM, which was great value for the price. A solid place to grab a drink and a bite in a pleasant atmosphere.

After seeing this on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, I just had to follow in my man Guy Fieri's footsteps and I wasn't disappointed. Pulled pork sandwich with fries - bangin'. Blonde beer - thirst quenching. Mango margarita - delicious. Looking and smelling what other people were having made my mouth water. Go to Shalhoob's and get some good BBQ food.

Food...was...excellent. I grew up in SB and remembered this place prior to it having the patio/dining area. In fact, while in elementary school at one time we actually had a field trip to the butch shop to learn how they processed meat. With the ultimate goal to live out some nostalgia, my wife and I decided to check it out for lunch and were extremely glad that we did. The service and food was wonderful. My wife had the Shalhoob burger and fries while I tried the BBQ pulled pork sandwich. In addition we also ordered the mac & cheese with added fried chicken chunks; which was simply unbelievable. Loved the food, enjoyed the ambiance, appreciated the friendly staff. Will definitely be going again on our next visit to SB.
Darren R — Google review
I'm not usually one to write a review but people all around town recommended this place and it was the worst barbecue I've ever had. Wanted to love it, but every meat was tough and bone dry. The pulled pork was actually so dry it was like trying to eat a piece of carpet, almost like they intentionally made it that dry as Santa Barbara style or something. There was a couple across from my gf and I at the picnic tables outside, who were also visiting from out of town. We tried keeping to ourselves and being quiet about the food, because we didn't want to spoil their meal. Turns out they were trying to be polite for us as well, but also thought it was dogwater and tossed it. I'm just picky because I'm from St. Louis and have lived in the South, so I've had good barbecue all my life. I love California to death and SB is a great town, but this ain't real BBQ. Sorry y'all

Stumbled upon this place randomly while visiting Santa Barbara and was very pleasantly surprised by everything. The Shop Brunch is a popular spot in Santa Barbara, offering gourmet American eats, baked goods, and specialty coffees through its walk-up window and patio. Whether you're looking to indulge in fried chicken or opt for a healthier choice like organic oatmeal, the menu has something for everyone. The sweet and savory toast selections are a must-try, with gluten-free options available. Despite being away from the hustle of State St, it can get crowded due to its top-quality breakfast offerings.
Friendly service and ambiance! We had breakfast here today. I ordered 2 avocado toasts and my fiancée had The Rollex with bacon and an orange juice. Everything was very tasty and delicious. I just wish they had smoothies, but we'll definitely come back again for breakfast!!

I went to The Shop Brunch in Santa Barbara last weekend, and honestly, it was a great spot overall. It’s pretty casual—you walk up to the counter, place your order, and then grab a seat wherever you can find one. The first thing I noticed was the vibe—kind of modern, clean, and laid-back. It feels local, not overly touristy. I got there around 10:30 AM on a Saturday, and it was already pretty crowded, so if you don’t like waiting, I’d recommend going early or on a weekday.
T C — Google review
The food here was really good, and I especially loved the outdoor patio; it's such a nice spot to relax and enjoy a meal. My favorite was the avocado toast; it was full of flavor and super satisfying. I did add an egg and bacon, which made it a little pricey. It was pretty quiet when we went, so service was quick and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. My boyfriend and I went last year, so the menu might be a little different now.

The food was very good. We especially liked their chorizo burrito and Shop potatoes. Also, their vanilla latte was well-made. But, I was very disappointed to see a piece of hair found in our potatoes, which were replaced once we brought it to the worker’s attention. But, sadly, I lost my appetite afterwards.

Got a flat tire driving back to LA so stopped in while waiting for the shop to fix me up. The servers are super nice and helpful in giving me suggestions for what activities to entertain myself with while I’m here, the music is top tier, the patio is lovely, and the chicken and waffles are absolutely to die for. 10/10 would get a flat tire here again

Had an outstanding dinner here on the patio. One of the best cornbreads I’ve ever had. The broccolini with whipped tahini was super flavorful. The baby back ribs with side of potato salad was chefs kiss. Nice local wine selection, and the service was wonderful!

We got off on the wrong foot, as we wanted to sit outside, but every table on the deck was rented out by a private event (I do not understand why so many places allow this). But the food and atmosphere that took a minute to liven up, was great! Drinks were even better. Only odd thing was that we were asked 5 times by different bus-boys and servers if they could take our plates, as we were still eating and had food on the plates. Overall, great place with good vibes!

Amazing brunch!! Everything was fantastic. Service was great, food was amazing (the burger is out of this world), and the patio atmosphere is exactly what we were looking for.

Loved Paloma Cafe! It was our first time there & it did not disappoint. Both our dinner dishes were delicious including fresh herbs & seasonal vegetable. We opted out of the dessert menu & swung back to the cornbread replacing the spicy topping with honey & a pat of butter. So good!! The (decaf) coffee was delish too! The staff were kind, friendly & accommodating. Love the outdoor atmosphere, a sentimental throwback to the Paradise Café!

A very laid back and delicious place to eat. Beautiful patio. Unfortunately, on the day we were there, a smoker trailer was stranded right beside the patio, so we moved inside to avoid the smell. Food was delicious and I was able to have an amazing gluten free salad. Service was chill but helpful.

We stopped in but nothing on the menu really spoke to us so we left without eating. But the servers were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The festive decorations inside were amazing and the patio, where we were seated, was very comfortable. I have no doubt the food will be excellent. We’ll find out when we return.

Service was sadly very slow/ inattentive. Food was delicious: cornbread, tri-tip, half chicken. The sweet potato appetizer was just ok. Love the atmosphere which depends on where you sit. #1 preference Ask to be seated on the patio near heat lamps. Avoid inside which is strangely too dark. And definitely avoid sitting near the restrooms (which is brightly lit) otherwise you get a constant flow of people traffic (and an eyesore).

While the motel provides a comfortable and safe environment, some guests have noted that the furniture may need more care. The staff is friendly and accommodating, providing microwaves for warming bottles and creating a welcoming atmosphere for families.
Absolutely great spot, great value - got my free of charge bike ride from this place. It was perfect! Definitely will keep this hotel in mind for the next visit! Very close to downtown area & the beach. Thanks a lot!

Pleasant enough for 1 or 2 nights. Excellent location for walking into town along State Street. The room was pretty tired and lacking common amenities like a mini-fridge. Also the bathroom had a large, permanently open window which made it very cold in there at times. That being said, it was clean and the bed was comfortable.
Olmyster911 — Google review
Pretty good! No microwave, no way to make coffee!, super loud a/c so I woke up all night long. No phone charging ports at the bedside tables. Rugs which I hate but I understand it’s a noise thing. Also, the shower head pointed straight at my head (I’m short) and it wasn’t adjustable. I feel they could couple the great location with a little more effort with the basics but I know it’s a balancing act to make an ROI and keep it affordable. Fantastic location. Very clean!! Good bed! Good value for downtown SB. But I think I’ll stick with Oasis, orange tree or lemon tree inn instead in the future.

The rooms at this motel were very clean and recently renovated, which we appreciated. However, we’re giving only three stars because when we arrived for check-in at 3 pm, no one was at the desk and staff didn’t return until much later. During our stay, the front desk was also unattended most of the time, which made things inconvenient. In addition, although the motel advertises free bikes, we were strongly discouraged from using them. We were told we would need special high-visibility gear to ride at night or risk a ticket, even though the city was full of people biking in regular clothes without any issues.
Emma F — Google review
Super cute! Very kind and helpful staff, the bed was like clouds, and the room was cute and tidy! Also was very affordable especially for a last minute (literally day of) booking. Thank you guys will be returning 100%!!!!

Unfortunately the staff is not trained to handle basic functions of running a hotel, nor have they been trained to provide pleasant customer service. Would not recommend.

This is No-Frills lodging, now that's not necessary a bad thing. You can pay $200 $300 or even $400 bucks a night at some of the high end hotels here in Santa Barbara or you can pay $150 bucks a night staying here, And spend your hard earned money on other things like great dining at any of the enormous restaurants or the pub walk on State street 😉 or down at the beachfront on souvenirs. Think about it, your hotel room is just somewhere to sleep so spend your money on having a good time and spoil yourself, Remember you're on vacation. The rooms are good sized and very clean and well maintained the staff is friendly and helpful 😀 this place is centrally located and far enough away from the tourist traps and crowds. I would recommend this place to my friends and family.

The hotel also features a stylish garden cafe, cocktail bar, and lounge area for guests to relax and unwind.

Palihouse Santa Barbara is a fantastic place to stay, blending beautiful decor with a unique and inviting atmosphere. The architecture is really cool, with thoughtful design details that make the property feel special. What stood out most was the sense of closeness and connection — it feels more like a small community than a typical hotel. The layout encourages friendly interaction while still giving guests plenty of privacy. Our son absolutely loved the heated pool. He played in it for hours, enjoying every minute. Over two days, it became the highlight of his trip. The rooms are equally charming — spacious, clean, and well-appointed, with cozy fireplaces and private outdoor areas that are perfect for relaxing. Parking was easy, with an underground garage that included two spots for free EV charging — a nice bonus if you’re traveling with an electric car. The location is also ideal. You’re within easy walking distance of Santa Barbara’s busy areas, including fantastic restaurants, coffee shops, and the farmers market. Overall, Palihouse offers a wonderful combination of style, comfort, and convenience. It’s a great choice for families or couples looking to experience Santa Barbara in a more intimate, memorable setting. We’d definitely stay here again.

My husband and I took our first family trip with our son to Santa Barbara this past week and stayed at the Palihouse. Their manager, Sylvia welcomed us and showed us all the accommodations & our room. Noelle was so friendly at the bar and Melanie was an amazing host each morning for breakfast! It was perfect and the staff was so accommodating to say the least. Our room was so spacious and clean, ideal for a family of 3 or even more if needed! We will definitely be back in the near future!

Very quaint but very overpriced for what it is. It’s an older/retro style hotel which is nice, but you also hear noise from neighboring rooms and Cleaning staff. Bed was comfy, shower nice. Staff was friendly. Room service breakfast was brought on a plastic plate and coffee in a to go container- appalling. Juice was definitely not fresh. Resort tax added as well- for what??? Small gym with 1 treadmill… small pool…there are better choices for the money.

I recently stayed 2 nights in the “Apartment” at Palihouse Santa Barbara, and I’m sorry to say the experience was disappointing. For a hotel that is considered 4 stars, I was surprised there was no valet service available, which made arrival a bit of a hassle. Inside the hotel, things unfortunately didn’t get better. The air conditioning unit in our room was extremely loud—it honestly sounded like it was on the verge of breaking down—and despite all that noise, it couldn’t keep the room cool. On top of that, there was a foul odor lingering in the room, which really made the stay uncomfortable. Additionally, the elevator gave a very unsettling feeling, as if it might break down at any moment, which didn’t inspire confidence. The main lobby area had dishes, glasses, and plates sitting out for hours from other people, which didn’t reflect well on the hotel’s upkeep. Overall, I expected a much more pleasant and well-maintained environment, but Palihouse Santa Barbara really fell short in several areas. Positives: short walk to State St.

Hands down one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed at. My boyfriend and I were blown away when we checked into our room to find a fairly large patio for our dog, this was very convenient. I have to also say that the breakfast is so phenomenal!! I am already planning a second trip this year. Can’t say enough good things about this hotel ❤️

Employees are great! Vince, the bartender is attentive and makes good drinks. Silvia, the GM, is professional and friendly. It’s nice to see when employees are not only great at their job, but are happy to be there.

The new restaurant Costa in Santa Barbara is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike, with its Mediterranean-inspired menu and colorful interior. The food is fresh and delicious, with dishes including whole roasted branzino and bread made with Tehachapi Sonora flour. The service is sweet and kind, making it a perfect place to enjoy a night out with friends.
I was a little skeptical about how good this restaurant was going to be based on it being attached to a hotel but I very impressed with everything we ordered! The candied tri tip with pineapple kimchi and the beef cheek pappardelle were two of the highlights. Delicious! Atmosphere was hip and fun and the service was good.
Dulcie W — Google review
Great view of the beach from both the bars and most of the tables - lots of outdoor seating set far enough back from the road so traffic doesn’t affect your experience. Terrific happy hour deals from 5-7, especially considering the location and views! Hidden gem. (Yes, I am hyping it - I wandered in and couldn’t believe it wasn’t packed on a gorgeous Friday afternoon!)

We had such a wonderful experience at Costa Kitchen & Bar in Santa Barbara! We came in for Brunch on 9/27/25 and were greeted by the friendly staff. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm and welcoming. I ordered the East Beach Omelette, while my boyfriend had the Steak and Eggs—both dishes were outstanding! The flavors were spot on, the portions generous, and everything was beautifully prepared. The staff made the meal even more enjoyable. Everyone was friendly and attentive. George, the Manager, stopped by our table. Talking with him felt like catching up with an old friend—it really added a personal touch to the whole experience. We left brunch so impressed that we decided to come back for dinner the same day. Dinner was just as incredible. The evening team was equally charming and made us feel right at home. We ordered the Salmon and Braised Short Ribs, and once again, the food was excellent—rich flavors, perfect execution, and very satisfying. Costa Kitchen & Bar is the kind of place that makes you want to return again and again. Between the friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and delicious food, you’ll love every moment here. Highly recommend!

Really enjoyed the candied tri tip with pineapple kimchi. And then ordered the crispy branzino filet with corn pudding, ricotta chive gnocchi, oven roasted tomatoes and sunflower pesto. Also ordered the beef cheek pappardelle and some fresh oysters. Great ambiance, service and food.
Anna S — Google review
Very slow service. Salmon had not much flavor. Braised short ribs sauce was too heavy. Do not recommend.

Omg this place is such a gem!!! We can for a late dinner and it was empty? There’s no reason for it to be. The waitresses are delightful and so friendly! The decor is adorable and so inviting. And the FOOD IS DELICIOUS. Just take a look at the photos. Definitely order the flatbreads, they aren’t actually flat they are more fluffy but I prefer them that way. The salmon was great as well and the arrabiata is delicious if you like spicy!

My family and I had a great experience at Costa. The staff were wonderful and kind. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very peaceful, and it has some old style architectural designs, which I appreciate. Appetizers: The bone marrow dish is a must. The food itself was perfect with some influence from Mediterranean and Persian cuisines. I ordered Scottish King salmon, and it was one of the best. The 30 days aged New York steak was just OK and rare instead of medium. I highly recommend this restaurant. 👌
Masoud R — Google review
The restaurant has nice location, the feel and decoration is cozy and the service is good. The food was okay, lovely serving, but not surprising. The fries was a bit on the cold side. We had pasta with mussels and fries. Think the overall rating now 7,6 is a bit to high for what is was. I am between 3 and 4 stars.

What an amazing experience! William was such a great guide and provided a great lunch and wine tasting experience. The views from the bike ride were amazing! 10/10 would do this again and recommend this company and experience. The e-bikes were in great shape and very easy to ride. One of the coolest things to do in the Santa Barbara area.
Shireen E — Google review
We had the most perfect day on this wine tasting bike tour. From start to finish, it was calm, relaxed, and beautifully organised. Our guide was absolutely lovely – so friendly and reassuring, he instantly put us at ease. He stopped regularly to check we were all okay, and created such a gentle, enjoyable pace throughout the day. The scenery was breathtaking, the food was genuinely incredible (lunch was a real highlight!), and the wine… just beautiful. Honestly, it was the calmest, most gorgeous day – one of those experiences that stays with you. Highly recommend!
Tammy W — Google review
Our group of 4 women ages 54-62 had a wonderful time with William. We are all healthy and active but the e-bikes allowed us to fully enjoy the day without getting too tired or hot. There are a few notable hills that were easy to conquer with mild support from the e-battery. You can bike with no support or up to level 5 on the ebike. The area was beautiful and included a brief stop in the Danish town of Solvang and several brief rest stops where William provided education and history of the area and the wineries we passed. He has decades of experience and knowledge and knows many of the vintners personally. As we neared the end of the biking, we stopped at a lavender farm, then had an olive oil tasting before a delicious picnic lunch at winery #1. Then a short drive (done with the bikes!) to winery #2 before heading out. Thank you William for a wonderful day! Highly recommend!

My husband and I (late 50s, casual cyclists from New York State) enjoyed a beautiful February 14 ride with William, owner of I Bike Santa Barbara Wine Tours. The points of interest will be familiar to any fans of Alexander Payne’s great film “Sideways.” William provides everything you need: bikes, water bottles, power bars, helmets, encouragement. We signed up for the mid-level “Wine Lovers’ Ride” but then extended it a bit to the full 15-mile “Classic” because it was so enjoyable gliding by the vineyards and ranches with bison, alpacas, and horses (not to mention the cute Danish town of Solvang, where we nabbed free tastes of European cheeses and fudge). Waiting at the end of our ride was a delicious olive oil tasting at the Rancho Olivos farmstand and then the vaunted iBike Italian-flavored al fresco luncheon at the spacious Brander winery (following a 5-wine tasting, of course!). We also had a fun wine tasting in Los Olivos, where Mikael, the owner of Kaena wines, impressed us with his passion for wine and his home state of Hawaii. Will was an excellent low-key tour guide and Santa Barbara fan who shared lots of area lore and tips. We highly recommend this wonderful day riding through gorgeous countryside.
Laura K — Google review
William was so gracious and an awesome guide. My mom and I had a wonderful time riding through Ballard Canyon. There is just something different and better about riding a bike through wine country rather than just driving through it. It really gives you the time to stop and smell the roses. We stopped frequently (just over 2 miles was the longest stretch of non-stop biking). He will provide you with a water bottle but you might want to bring one of your own just in case, especially if you are riding a conventional bike rather than an E-Bike. Also, word to the wise. Some of those hills are steep and somewhat long, if you are not in shape definitely get the E-Bike or if you would rather just relax, get the E-Bike. Thanks William, we had a blast!
Austin R — Google review
This was a wonderful experience! William provided expert customer service from the very beginning:) he was kind, knowledgeable and took great care of us! The beautiful tour on such fun bikes with the perfect amount of stops and tastings.Lunch was delicious! We would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a fun adventure while visiting the Santa Barbara area.
Gracie's H — Google review
William is helpful, kind, flexible, and keeps everyone safe! Had a wonderful time on this tour. I probably wouldn’t have made it up some of the hills without the e-bike (my first time on an e-bike). We did a 16-mile loop with frequent stops (probably 1-2 miles at a time) and then enjoyed a few tastings at an olive oil stand and two vineyards after the ride.
Alexana G — Google review
A MUST DO! If you’re considering booking this - think no further and do it. William provided the most special day for us; he was knowledgeable about the area and made us feel confident on our bikes. We were so impressed with his professionalism, kindness and relationships with the local wineries and shops. I will be recommending this for years to come!

Barbieri and Kempe Wines is a winery with a tasting room located in Santa Barbara. The wines are always delicious and their wine selection is perfect for hosting any type of private event. The owner, Massimo, is very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines, and he has a great sense of humor which makes the experience even more enjoyable. The winery's location is secluded off state street, making it a great spot for an intimate wine tasting.
Incredible wine and wonderful winemakers. The only wine club I belong to and some of the best and most interesting wines on the Central Coast - which is saying alot because there is an abundance of world class wine throughout the region!!! Check out their beautiful tasting room in Los Olivos!!

Absolutely Loved Kempe Wine Bar! 🍷✨ What a gem in Santa Barbara! From the moment you walk in, the cozy vibe grabs you—especially those stylish and super comfy teal chairs inside. The outdoor seating is just as inviting with perfectly placed heating that keeps you warm even on cooler nights. The staff? Incredible—so friendly and knowledgeable, they make you feel like a regular even if it's your first time. And how could I forget Lulu, the sweet resident pup who adds an extra dose of charm to the experience! 🐶 The wine selection is top-notch. Don’t leave without asking for their recommendations—they truly know their stuff, and every pour is a winner. Trust me, it's a can't-miss. Already planning my next visit. Love this place!

I’ve only tried about a third of the wineries/tasting rooms in Santa Barbara, but Barbieri and Kempe is officially my favorite. Massimo gave my friends and I fantastic afternoon tasting. He was extremely knowledgeable about his family brand and taught us so much in the short time we were there. The tasting room in La Arcada Plaza is beautiful. I fell in love with the Seppia wine. It took very little convincing for me to become a member. I look forward to tasting many more wines from this family brand!

Hey Ben and Ruth this is for you!! “WE CAME FOR THE BATHROOM, BUT STAYED FOR THE WINE” What a great place! First things first! can we all say hello to the real celebrity here, the adorable foggy pup Lulu! 🐶 She’s the star of the show and totally stole our hearts. Now let’s take a moment to admire those stunning teal chairs not only are they beautiful, but they’re also incredibly comfortable. The decor throughout the winery is thoughtfully done, blending charm with style in the most inviting way. The atmosphere here is relaxed, elegant, and perfect for sipping and savoring. And the customer service? Absolutely top notch. Friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming, everything you want from a great winery experience. Highly recommend stopping by. Whether you’re here for the wine, the vibes, or Lulu (let’s be honest—it’s probably all three), you won’t be disappointed! 🍷💙 #WineryVibes #LuluTheStar #TealChairGoals #WineAndDesign

As the other reviewers mentioned, the location is absolutely ideal. My husband and I were lucky enough to be told about these amazing wines while in Los Olivos and were so excited to hear they were opening a tasting room in SB. The wine offerings range from amazing Rose's' to beautiful soft whites to big full red wines, featuring Syrah's, Petite Syrah's, Cab Franc's and a number of blends. Their story is only second to their impressive wines, these are everyday normal folks that have build this business on hard work and a love for wine and people. Please do not pass up this awesome place. Paolo, Erin & Massimo....thank you for your hard work and a place where we always feel welcome.

Winery Silver Wines has a selection of wines that are delicate and flavorful. The winery is located in one of the most beautiful areas of San Diego, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Every wine is special, with some having been aged for longer than others. This is a great place to visit if you're looking for something different than your average wine.
Silver Wines, is one of the best hole in the walls winery you will discover while wine tasting. Make it your go to place, like I did mine. The vibe and essence is amazing and the wines are incredible! Their Nebbiolo 2018 is my absolute favorite!! The winemaker and owner Benjamin calls it his “Peter pan” an old wine that doesn’t want to age. Which I totally love!! As well as their knowledgeable, attentive and kind staff. Definitely a place I’d recommend to any of my friends or family! It’s a must go place to visit. A little diamond in the rough.

This place is definitely hard to find but well worth it. Incredible wines, especially for the Italian varietals. We stopped by one weekend and Aaron our server was very knowledgeable, kind and hospitable. We are huge fans of Benjamin Silver’s wines. Sangiovese and Nebbiolo seem hard to come by in Santa Barbara and Silver has quite a selection to choose from. Great ambience. Better wines. Solid 👌

Awesome experience at this place and a big shout out to our server, Nancy. The wines are outstanding and it was hard to pick only one favorite! We liked it so much we went back the next day for a glass and I would recommend the tasting over having a glass of wine there.

Excellent wine! I've been here twice now and have really enjoyed their wine, especially their Pinot Noir. They offer wine tasting, wine by the glass, and bottles of course. Seating is available inside and in the courtyard they share with the brewery next door.
Tim R — Google review
The employees working behind the wine bar here (as of end of 2023 / early 2024) aren’t very friendly, not very educated on the wine (or they dont wish to share), and not attentive to their customers. Their wine is mediocre. Outdoor venue here is great, but w/ the average wine and poor service, we dont get wine here anymore. We’d rather get burgers and beer at third window where they care about their customers.
Andrew H — Google review
One of the highlights of this place is that you're supposed to get different shapes of glasses based on the varietal you are tasting. When we went there, the dishwasher was broken so we were served all four wines in the tasting consecutively instead of simultaneously and in the same glass.. This was disappointing as I believe they could just have washed them by hand. The Chardonnay was very acid, close to lemon juice. This rubbed it for the other notes to be detected. The Grenache was very good, and the stag and Pinot were decent but nothing exceptional and not on par with their price tag. The redeeming factor of this winery is the building itself which is interesting, and the printed notes for each wine which are neatly tucked into a leather pouch. The pourers were very friendly and provided good, detailed information.

Terrible! The idea is great & the place is nice BUT we went for a trip tip sandwich because we heard they were good. It was so so. We went at 12:30 it was busy but just to oder we had to wait nearly 45min then when we got to the point to order there was only one person taking orders.. Then it took nearly an hour to get our French fries & then another 20min to get the tri tip sandwiches. They charge extrafor catsup or any other dipping sauces... you text one sm catsup with the small fries & 2 free with the large fries. After that each littleside dipping sauce is $1.50. In my opinion this place is a rip off. .& the line was way out to the street before us & after us. It too k nearly an hour

(Translated by Google) Both wine and beer are excellent. Be sure to try the pizza. I ordered the Margherita pizza. The dough was very crispy and chewy, and the tomato sauce was fresh and delicious. The chicken wings were a little salty and sour, but the skin was very crispy and the meat was moist and delicious. I recommend eating it with ranch sauce. Next time, I'm going to try ordering a burger.

Almost didn't come here when I saw that they might not have alternatives to their pork options for their breakfast sandwich. But that changed when one of the lovely servers their told me they had chicken apple sausage—which I didn't even see in their Breakfast Menu 😂 But yeah cool place and from my first experience here I have the impression that the servers know their stuff and are considerate of customers. Ive lived in SB for over 10 years now and the other day was actually the first time I’ve ever eaten here. I would normally not stop into a hotel to eat, but I had old friends staying there, so I stopped by to meet them for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised that the food and service was actually quite spectacular. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich which was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I wasnt thinking about drinking, however my wonderful server, sal recommended a cocktail called the love affair, I don’t exactly remember what was in it, but it sure was delicious! Sal made excellent recommendations for both food and drinks and checked on me plenty of times. I wasn’t expecting such 5 star service from what I thought would be a touristy pool bar by the beach. Because of its great location and stellar service, this might be one of my new regular spots!

It was supposed to be gratuity included and they tried to charge us mandatory gratuity on top at the end. After talking with manager, they took off the extra charge for gratuity.
