We were there on Sunday, the museum was closed, but the area was very beautiful. Lots of greenery, flowers and the ancient castle is very beautiful and picturesque.
A great discovery! On the first floor there is a little archeological exhibition, the museum is very well taken care of, you can visit all the different rooms and see the paintings. Outside there is an amazing French and English style gardens. The little duck pond was a lovely surprise.

Stunning castle with marvelous gardens to have a relaxing walk or make your wedding album pics. Open all year.
Four aspects made this an interesting and worthwhile visit : the House itself, styled, when built, on an English 18th Century Manor House; the collection of paintings; the archeological collection of artifacts from paleolithic to Roman (I was especially impressed by the collection of 2nd century stellie (grave stones) and the Latin inscriptions upon them); and the extensive gardens and surrounding parkland. Free entry and free parking.

While the layout can be a bit tricky to navigate without a guide, taking your time to explore each section at your own pace is well worth it. One of the highlights is the large fish tank, by end end of the visit, which recreates the natural habitats of the Ría de Vigo, giving visitors a fascinating glimpse into the local marine life. It’s a unique way to appreciate the underwater world of Galicia.
With its blend of history, science, and interactive elements, the Museo do Mar de Vigo is a great place for families, history buffs, and anyone who enjoys learning about the ocean.
We loved this intricate and informative museum. The expositions are all super interesting and well-documented. The aquarium was our favorite part, seeing the shark eggs was the cherry on the cake! Most of the panels are only in Spanish, however, so be sure to have a translator handy.
Some really good artefacts set out very well. Friendly staff, but very little labeled up in English, lots of guess work when looking at the displays, still worth a visit though. Check opening times.
It was a great surprise in our trip to Vigo. I was with kids and they had a wonderful time in a rainy day! The aquarium is small but very well done.
If you’re not into museum, it’s worth getting there just for the building itself. Modern architecture and a building that fits in the environment. Located in between 2 beaches and a stretch that leads to a lighthouse, with a nice café/restaurant that serves delicious dishes.
When I visited, there was a temporary photo exhibition about the Portuguese Camino to Santiago de Compostela. Mix of 19th, 20th and 21st century photos.
The permanent exhibition tells you all about the Galician fishing industry which is interesting considering the many changes due to geopolitical events throughout the periods of time.
Wonderful beach area to have a stroll away from the city. I came around by sunset and was pleasantly surprised with the beautiful environment, boats, museum and lighthouse. I felt lucky to have captured the sunset here during my short trip to Vigo.

It is certainly the most frequented beach in Vigo, yet it is also quite beautiful. During the summer, one can find beach bars and pools for children. It is a pleasant location to unwind and witness stunning sunsets in the autumn.
Better go to Cangas or somewhere else. After seeing tens of Galician beaches this one wasn't impressive because the water is dirty and isn't for swimming in my opinion. But for sunbathing the beach is enough and there are also small parks around. Toilets and showers are available too

Minute walk up after a 10-15 walk from the cathedral. Lots of sitting areas as well to enjoy a picnic. Next time i would go with a picnic basket

Best spot, to see the sunset in Vigo! You can see all of the ocean, the Cies Islands, the bridge! I totally recommend it to everyone. Don't go without a cerveza! For picknick with your friends, it's the best as well!! Also, you can run and do sports around it, the best to do in the sunrise or sunset;)
At the top of the mountain, right in the middle of the fortress that crowns it, some walls from the 17th century that today are the best vantage point of Vigo and the estuary to the Atlantic Ocean. Within these walls are the castle of O Castro and its gardens, as well as sculptures such as the monument to Vigo by Camilo Nogueira or the tribute to the medieval poet Martín Codax.
Walking down the paths bordering the fortifications towards the historic quarter, you will come to a new vantage point where the Rande Galleons Monument is located.. It consists of anchors and various cannons that were found from three of the dozens of ships sunk in the Vigo estuary during the Battle of the Rande in 1702, when the Anglo-Dutch fleet and a Spanish fleet escorted by a French collided. Very interesting place, a gem in history.

My wife and I saw an exhibit of works by the great Galician painter Lexeiro here. The gentleman who worked there (whose name tag said Jorge if I remember correctly) greeted us very warmly, and (in Spanish, which we speak) gave us a very detailed and well informed tour of some of the artist’s works, along with very interesting cultural and historical commentary. It was like a 30-45 minute great lecture by a passionate art/culture professor—really enlivened the work. Felt very lucky to have walked in there! Free admission as well!
A lovely exhibition of Galician art as well as old photos of Vigo. We particularly enjoyed the Lexeiro exhibit, for which there was a very nice man who explained the significance of the most important works. Entrance is free.

Lovely "concatedral", bigger than a church which homes "Cristo de la Victoria", patron of the city and which appeared on the beach found by the local fishermen many years back. Beautiful inside with great art work and in the heart of the old city.

Nestled in the alleys of the Old Town, not easily found unless you look up for the spires ( or use Google maps 😁). A plain stone church with a modest inside - personally I find more fitting for the religion than the ornate and ostentatious alters we have seen in many other churches around Europe.

The Bay of Vigo was mentioned in the book “20 000 Leagues Under the Sea” written by Jules Verne. After publishing his book, he visited the city of Vigo aboard his yacht Saint Michel III. The bronze sculpture, made in 2005, was to commemorate to centenary of the death of the writer.

What a fantastic gem and the views are spectacular. You could spend the whole day up there (especially if you're a romantic). Take a picnic up enjoy the fresh air and views. Hours are 08:00- 23:00 in summer and - 21:00 winter.

A popular beach that is clean and not too overpopulated. It is a short distance from central Vigo. It has a lovely walkway for taking in the sights and relaxing. There are plenty of seats scattered alongside the walkway. There are bars and snack bars for relaxing or getting a quick bite to eat. There is a skating area and other play areas for all ages. The beach is long with plenty of space for most people. On certain days the cloud covers the horizon, which is a marvel to see. Overall it is a great beach experience with plenty to do for all ages.

My family and I decided to visit the zoo on a Saturday afternoon. If you have a child who is 3 years old or under they can enter for free, two adults cost around 12€. We looked at the map and headed towards the first stop. They had reptiles, insects, and birds…. it was lovely. Then we looked at the map to decide our next stop, we noticed that they had a lot of zones “under construction” which was a bit devastating. As we went from one place to another we could see that some animals were pacing around and wouldn’t stop. We came to the conclusion that maybe they were doing so because they were anxious or stressed. We didn’t get to see many animals because they were either napping or hiding.
We especially liked the fruit bats. We came in the afternoon and many animals were sleeping and could not be seen but towards the evening they woke up.
It was nice! It is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but it’s a good stop/detour if you’re doing the Camino Porugúes from Vigo. The staff was super friendly and gave us pointers on how to get back on trail. They also stamped our credenciales.
Some animals did seem a little… neglected? Or sad, at least, but what do I know about animals? I’d most likely return, hopefully with all the renovations finished.

They have like a huge clear glass so we were not only can feel the sunlight coming in BUT we also cud possibly see how the big ship was operated at the port.
