James Bruce , the Governor General and Viceroy of British India, who happened to be Governor of Jamaica , Governor General of Canada and Ambassador to China, died here in Dharamshala. His widow Mary Louisa build his Memorial in this premises , just behind the church ⛪️.

Always a delight visit the holiness place. This time I also attended his lifelong ceremony with a bunch of tibetans and renowned scholars who happened to visit this ceremony and seek his blessings from all over the world. Such a delight to witness him and this ceremony in person and feel a surge of true spiritual energy, even with more than 1000 people around. I guess it's the holiness in Dharamshala effect.

Our family visited this Budhist Dalai Lama temple (also known as Theckchen Choeling Buddha Vihar) on 24 October 2025. There is no entry fees. There is a residential venue of Dalai Lama, in front of the temple complex. It has a Beautiful, calm, quiet, serene, religious atmosphere with excellent infrastructure for religious ceremony and meditation.

A nice beautiful temple full of serenity and the beauty of nature. The main temple is located on the first floor, I visited this temple on Saturday and there were a large number of Buddhist Monks sitting on the floor outside and inside the temple. On the outside floor, they offer you free of charge tea for every person and monk visiting the temple. There is ample space on the ground floor and a beautiful nature view. There is a parking lot just before the temple on the right side and free of charge parking on the left side road of the temple.

Naddi View Point is a beautiful spot just a short drive from McLeodganj, offering stunning panoramic views of the Dhauladhar mountain range. It’s perfect for catching snow-covered peaks and breathtaking sunsets. During our visit, it rained, which made the atmosphere even more magical - with mist rolling in and clouds hanging low over the mountains. However, the place has become extremely crowded lately. There were so many cars parked all around that it was hard to even find space to move freely or enjoy the view in peace. At times, it got quite noisy, which took away from the otherwise serene vibe. While it's still worth a visit for the views and photo opportunities, it's best to come early or during off-peak times if you're hoping for a quiet, reflective experience.

Kalachakra Temple is a small Buddhist temple located right in the middle of the main McLeodganj market. The main temple is on the top floor, and the area can get quite crowded, so it’s best to visit early in the morning. A must-visit to admire beautiful Tibetan architecture and soak in the peaceful vibe amidst the bustle.

The Kaalchakra Temple, also known as the Dalai Lama Temple, is a small yet serene Buddhist temple located right in the heart of the area. Though modest in size, it carries a peaceful and spiritual ambiance that makes it worth a visit. At the center of the temple is a large statue of Buddha, a common but always impressive sight in Buddhist temples. The interior is calm and ideal for quiet reflection or simply taking in the spiritual atmosphere. Do note that parking can be a bit tricky around the temple, especially during peak hours, as it’s situated in a central and slightly congested area. Still, the experience of visiting the temple makes the effort worthwhile. This temple is not a monastery,this is tourist place with no entry tickets.

You don’t have to watch a match to visit this place you can just go an visit to this beautiful stadium by paying a fee of 30 or maybe it increases by the time you arrive but trust me this is a very good place with all the ipl team posters on it. Beautiful Stadium But Beware of Scam Activity Outside The HPCA Cricket Stadium in Dharamshala is easily one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world, surrounded by the majestic Dhauladhar mountain range. The views are absolutely breathtaking snow clad peaks, fresh mountain air, and a perfectly maintained field. Even on non-match days, the entry fee (₹30 via UPI) is totally worth it for the serenity and scenic beauty. The stands are colorful, the stadium is clean, and staff are generally polite and cooperative. However, visitors should stay alert outside the main gate. There are people pretending to represent resort or travel companies (often with names like Karma Group) with ID probably fake ID cards handing out scratch cards for tgeir 31st anniversary claiming “free prizes” or “holiday vouchers.” This is a misleading sales scam they invite you to a “presentation” that turns into a high-pressure attempt to sell costly vacation memberships. Many visitors have reported that these offers are fake, and the promised gifts are never delivered or come with hidden charges. Tourists often end up losing time and face unnecessary stress. It’s important that visitors do not share personal details or sign any forms from these individuals. Politely decline and walk away. Tourists have repeatedly faced such incidents near the stadium entrance. The HPCA authorities and local police should look into this matter to maintain the safe, welcoming environment that this world class venue deserves. Welcome to the World's Highest International Cricket Stadium 🏟️. My experience of visiting this stadium was simply enchanting. I was mesmerized by the backdrop which offers a scintillating view of the snow-covered Dhauladhar Mountain Range, even in April. The entry fee was ₹30 during my visit. The stadium management allows visitors to enter from Gate Number 5, into only one section (stand) of the stadium, where they can click photos, sit on the chairs and take a look at the breathtaking beauty of the lush green cricket field & Himalayas. Here washroom is available and they accept only UPI payment for tickets. Highly recommended to visit, because it's going to be an experience of a lifetime.🤍🏔️

It's a challenging trek and requires proper trekking shoes as the rocks are pointed and flat shoes will hurt. The view above makes the trek worth it. Also there are eating points and camping site at the top.

Locals are simply thieves, they don't even tell you their way , just try to sell you. Lots of lies about registration. You don't have to buy any tickets, registration, or tent. You can simply go to the track and start hiking. No one is there to see your registration. Locals make fools of tourists. Very high price of anything, no environment friendly behaviour from locals, they destroyed all the water sources, so that you have to buy a bottle of water, which cost 80/litter. If you really don't have specific things to do there avoid it, there are a lot better places where you can go. This is just a commercial gudda raj of locals to loot the tourist.

Could be better. The instructions are there but it doesn't look like people are following it. No facilities including toilets are provided in the beginning of the trek as well as in the places where people camp. Open defecation is bad for the environment and very soon this trek will become unpopular with people and tourists.

Triund is a must visit place in Dharamshala, the trek itself long but relatively easy, I recommend renting walking sticks at the checkpoint as the terrain can be a little difficult to navigate. The views throughout the trek are breathtaking. It is definitely worth the time and effort.

One of the most popular hiking treks in Himachal Pradesh. It starts at 2100m and finishes at 2850m, on Triund campcite, covering about 7 km of the way. The path itself is very good quality, regularly been renovated by local forestry. The difficulty level is very low, everybody can do it in ine day. There are several cafes with water filling points on the way. Areal views on entire Kangra valley are available during good weather.

Almost 7 kms trekking route is quite impressive but a bit of hard because of the cracked n crashed stones all over the road. On the way I felt the silence of the jungle which consists mainly of Oak, Rhododendron, Deodar and Brown Oak at the top. One of my unforgettable Journey in Himachal Pradesh.

We were here trying to hike the Triund trail on 27 Dec, 2019 but unfortunately the trail was closed due to bad conditions. So we decided to hike the little peak visible from the checkpoint. It turned out to be a great decision. The view was fantastic and there were barely anyone there. So we chilled for a bit before hiking down to Bagsunag waterfall. There is a platform up-top with a little shrine where you can sit down and enjoy the valley views on one side and mountain views on other side. The hike to the platform is ~10mins max. We did hike the main peak which was bit of a scramble (10-15 mins more) to get to the top but the top was dingy with lots of flags, huge electric poles, cables blocking the views and some trash, so we came back to the platform for better views.

Not a natural lake. Don't confuse yourself with Dal Lake that is in Kashmir and as it's not the original one it's also not very attractive. Too much to be honest, it smells awful as the source of water of this lake is a treatment plant. I visited in April and it was almost dry with no crowd at all. No need to go inside, you should click picture from outside and look for another destination.

I was quite disappointed with Dal Lake in McLeodganj. The river was completely dirty and mostly dried up, which made the area look neglected and uninviting. It felt almost like a banned, isolated spot, with dust and litter all around. Unfortunately, it was far from the serene and picturesque experience I had expected.

Tibetan history and culture is well preserved and presented here. The struggle phase is also shown in a great manner. Overall a nice place to know about the Tibetan community.

Clean and organised. It is critical to visit this museum as part of your trip to McLeodganj or Dharamshala. Don't miss the audio headphones of personal accounts to better understand the pain and torture that was inflicted on HH the Dalai Lama and his beloved people.

I took 2h to get to know a bit of history of Tibetans. For the price you pay you can learn a lot about culture, history of the country. Must visit.

Calm & peaceful. Can spend 3-4 hrs for a thorough experience. May finish in 2hrs. Canteen present. Books & merch available. Space for quiet walks. Very interesting for Tibetan enthusiasts. Must visit.

We have so small time gap till close. Please note, that the museum is open until 17:00, like everywhere. One hour is not enough. For me it spents only for two photo-walls - with history of Tibet and yellow-white «cubes» with short answers of Dalai Lama on short questions. Did not very like one thing - so much TV with earphones showing Dalai Lama on each wall. Interactivity of museum is not means this kind of solution method. Find other way to introduce moving movie. And about history-wall. Mostly things I read on the wall was about when some Lama came, when came another. Less information about relationships with other countries , less details about nower period after 1959. Hope, other rooms is informative and well-designed. For such small nation (Tibetians) good Museum is very important. When we was in it, there is only one visitor except us. Tourists all the day are in other more interesting places maybe.

Kindly be responsible and respectful while going to this tiny township . A very aesthetically located Monastery. A peek into the Tibetan world. Avoid taking big cars to this hill town. Preferably park your cars down at the ropeway and use the ropeway to the township. Use public means to move around the congested narrow roads.

Costed only 20 INR to get in. Lunch break from 1-2 pm but you can come back. Very informative.m and well placed. I loved how it represented that politically and culturally but also environmentally. Lots of videos and people’s stories too. Free Tibet.

Go for the breakfast here. Have some freshly made crepe pancakes along with a beverage of your choice and you will thank your stars! Take in the breathtaking view while the aroma of pancakes and crepes waft in the air.

When I think back to my time in McLeodganj, this café stands out as one of the most memorable parts. The cozy atmosphere, the healthy food prepared with care, and the wonderful people I met here made it feel like home. This is the perfect place to read a book and drink tea while watching the mountains outside. Yangzom cares for the guests and makes the place special. I hope to visit again someday.

A very good restaurant! The restaurant has a cosy atmosphere. The best advantage and a reason, we chose to visit is the fact, that you have gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options to choose from. If possible, they will let you switch ingredients of a meal based on your special needs. They serve nice big portions, we ordered gluten-free burrito whith avocado and full of boiled and also fresh veggies. The portion was bigger than expected, we almost had problems to finish it :). We were afraid to eat fresh vegs in India because of water contamination, but here they state in the menu that they treat the vegetables with sterilised water, which is very important. We had no problem after eating their vegs. Keep in mind that they don't serve every option from the menu every day, as it is a small restaurant, but you will always have options to choose from even if you have special needs. As a dessert we got a gluten and dairy free pancake with no sugar, just fresh fruit. Very nice experience.

Awesome place to spend some quality time alone or with group. The owner is a very nice and friendly lady. Their menu is awesome and the preparation of food is very authentic and delicious.

One of our favorite cozy spots in Dharamshala/Mccleod Ganj. Shakshuka, crepes, veg sushi and vegan peanut butter noodles are some of our favorites. Oh and I normally don't like. Kombucha much, but their homemade Mango/mint kombucha is delicious! Must try! (note my husband usually orders extra eggs with shakshuka, the normal portion everywhere is usually 2).

Quaint little cafe with most heartwarming food. The owner has been mindful in advocating enough for sustainability (cloth/ wooden coasters, felt slippers for guests, minimum disposable items) and vegan diet of course! Do yourself a favour and visit over for a breakfast if around mcleodganj.

Loved the place and food was so yummy. We ordered fried rice and chicken bokchoy. The flavors were all perfectly balanced. Must visit. The ambience is very cozy. Perfect place to hang out with friends or if you want to curl up with a book.

The food here is really good. We tried fried rice along with Chinese spicy pork. The pork was really good. Also tried xioa long bao, not very good. Next day again we went for brunch. Had latte was 👍. Again ordered fried rice, chinese spicy pork and Dawa meat fry in Beijing sauce. The meat fry was sweet and perfect as a starter.

A friend suggested this place to me and I decided to drop in. It's a woman owned business. All the ladies are sweet and the service is fast. The ambience is a 10/10 especially the fireplace and the lil trinkets around the place. I liked their food. It was decent and surprisingly not as expensive as most of the places in the market are. If you are in McLeod do visit this place.

This was the spot we felt most comfortable in, and read and relaxed for a few hours. Delicious food and tea, a thoughtful and considered menu that finds authentic and common ground with Tibetan, Indian and Chinese cuisines, housed within a beautifully decorated interior with excellent facilities. We felt right at home, and the intentions of the place as “common ground” could be felt. There were excellent meetings and conversation of people of all kinds taking place in this special, hillside spot on the walk down from Dharamkot to Mcleodganj.

Beautiful place, cozy and comfortable. Opportunity to try different food in McLeod, most of the dishes are based in Taiwanese and Chinese cuisine but not traditional. Because of the explanation in the menu I expected to eat a very traditional dishes but wasn’t 100% same in taste. But very good experience and good food.

visited this memorial 🫡 on a rainy day of october. groups of children were seen enjoying even in this weather. Walkways and grass were clean and non slippery.. good job done by curator to include Chota bheem, motu-patlu , mickey 🐭 figures to attract young crowd . visit was brief nonetheless enjoyable 👍

Had a wonderful time at the Dharamsala War Memorial Park. The lush greenery and peaceful vibe made it a lovely spot to unwind. The fighter jet display was impressive and added a patriotic touch. A beautiful blend of history and nature — definitely worth a visit!

This is a war memorial in Dharmshala near stadium. It is quick visit area. There is park for children as well. Ticket is 30 rupees per person and for musium ticket is separate to purchase. Must allow in one ticket.

Tushita Meditation Centre is a serene oasis! Beautifully landscaped gardens where you are free to roam around or spread a mat to reflect, meditate or just chill with a book. Even in the mist of monsoon it had a mystic charm to it. Mind blowing scenes of nature. Apart from landscapes there are Buddhist courses , free walk in meditation in the morning. The wonderfully crafted Buddhist introductory course I attended was truly transformative. Our teacher's wisdom and guidance were invaluable, and the peaceful atmosphere of the centre allowed me to deepen my practice and connect with like-minded individuals. The tranquility of the space is palpable, and I felt my mind and heart heal with each session. Highly recommend Tushita for anyone seeking spiritual growth and inner peace 🙏❤️ Note- 10 day introductory course is not for everyone so please go over the details on the website before enrolling and make up your mind for silence, long meditation sessions, monk food ofcourse which according to me was delicious healthy and light on stomach.

This place is like a portal. As soon as you enter through the gate and starts moving through the trail, the sounds and noise from outside keeps mellowing down like a fade out used in a 1970s prog rock track. You will find yourself in complete silence. As you enter you go within. This is a must visit place for anyone looking to unwind and find a sense of calm or looking for a sacred safe space. It almost makes you feel like you are on a pilgrimage.

Silence is the mantra there. Speak to yourself! Place is perfect for someone seeking inner peace. There is meditation session from 9-10AM. But unfortunately on the day we went the session was cancelled. So do confirm before going. One can individually meditate any where in that place. We booked taxi from McLeod Ganj to reach there who charged ₹300. Return we came by walk. There is walkway on backside for those who want to walk down. It’s safe. I went for a 10 day silence retreat introduction to Buddhism course, and it was an amazing experience to be at Tushita, living there was life changing for me. Must visit and take a course there!

The 9am free guided meditation is an excellent introduction to Buddhist meditation practices, and it is a suitable class for both new and more experienced meditators. The main hall is stunning, peaceful atmosphere and lovely walk in the woods to reach there. Aum Mani Padme Hum🙏

We are thankful to the petrol pump guy who suggested us to visit tea garden. When you are there make sure you try their different teas specially ice tea and there tea flavoured ice cream which was home made and for sweet they used natural himalayan honey.

12/2/25 🩷 There are a lot of tea gardens in Dharamshala. 🩷 We visited each of them. 🩷 We also visited a Himalyan tea factory outlet. 🩷 There's no entry fee. 🩷 You can visit these gardens anytime in the day. 🩷 It's a peaceful place.

It's a 4 km clear road from Mcleodganj, which starts from the main square of Mcleodganj. I suggest taking the top road, which takes you through the forest, it will be a pleasant walk and even you can get the locals taking their evening walks. Well, I walked all alone, expediting footpaths of saints. Up above at the hill top 1st, you will encounter 2 villages as you pass by. Then comes Dal Lake, situated at the top of the mountain and the foot of naddi point. One suggestion, leave early to reach naddi Point to watch sunset, I left around 5.30 pm, and I reached around 7 pm, when I reached there it was almost dark, no worries but the sky was clear for star gazing. And reached back by other route on foot (reached by 10)

FOOD Lovers run by Abhishek and his brother is the best place to have pure veg and non veg brunch, lunch, or dinner or snacks. Food is not at all rich. Super tasty and good for children too. Enjoy your Naddi visit.
