The 12 best spots for fried chicken in Santander

A little confused by the order system. Indoor sign says no table service but when I was able to flag down the waiter he placed my orders. Browsed the pinchos inside and when I didn’t know my table number, wait staff rolled their eyes at me. Table numbers are on the napkin holders for those who need to know. The single waiter working the entire outdoor patio was going nonstop: ringing up customers, clearing and cleaning tables, sweeping. Food was pleasant, went for the pinchos calientes including chicken curry, potato, vegetable, & cheese cassoulet, and bonito fish and cheese. The Gilda pinchos weren’t as good as they are in Bilbao. Did not prefer the cider, will stick with wine next time. Good for people watching and they remain open all afternoon and until midnight.

We had our visit in 5 years. Unfortunately our favorite tapas was not on the menu that day. Other tapas were great. The biggest question mark is about their beer. Why a Spanish institution serves Heineken?!?! Felt a very touristic decision

I've been here twice, both times solo on busy nights, and I've received great service to accompany the best pinxos I've had in Spain. The food is fresh, coming out every few minutes, inventive, and absolutely delicious. Even though it's popular and busy, it's never chaotic, and they make sure everyone receives attention. I recommend Casa Lita to anyone visiting Santander.

Delicious homemade pintxos, the pork and apricot was our favourite. Friendly and patient service, we will probably return during our trip!

It’s one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Spain. The food is amazing, and I’d come back to Santander just for this place. The service is excellent, very kind staff who provide great recommendations. My family and I were truly impressed by this restaurant

We visited Cadelo tonight after a week split across Biarritz, San Sebastian and Santander. This restaurant is easily the highlight of our visit so far. The decor is modern but not cold, and tables are spread across two levels. The service was absolutely EXCELLENT. While apologising for their poor English, the friendly servers gave PERFECT mouthwatering descriptions of the food along with recommendations. When the food was served, they repeated the exact descriptions of each dish - first-class. We ate grilled turbot, sweet and sour glazed pork with kumquat and candied peanuts, and roast beef slices with a spicy pickle salad and brioche. All this plus water, wine and a small dessert came to €100 - excellent value. A gem, well worth a visit.

We did a walk in which miraculously succeeded but I suggest a reservation. The wine pricing is really reasonable. Food is great a bit asiatic hint to the usual Spanish dishes

Fantastic place. We arrived at 8:45 and we had to sit at a bar since we did not have reservations but it was out of the way and pleasant at the bar. The place got packed after 9pm. The food was a blend of Spanish and Asian. We shared the buñuelos of bacalao, karaage of chicken and empanadilla. Dessert was a pan con chocolate, a deconstructed chocolate bread with chocolate ice cream. The wine (a bottle of Tempranillo) was pretty amazing. Great place for a night out.

This restaurant was fully booked and they managed to squeeze us in at the bar. Service was impeccable. The food was outstanding. Open kitchen, everything ran like a well oiled machine. Spotlessly clean. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!! We felt extremely valued as diners.

AMAZING FOOD!!! I would give it 6 starts if possible. One of the best restaurants I have been in my life. We ordered at least 6 dishes, all of them incredibly tasty and yummy. Will be back and will recommend this place to anyone who comes to Santander. Also, 2 bottles of wine and some other drinks and the total for 5 people was around 34€ per person. Great price as well!!

I visited this restaurant a week ago. Had buñuelos de bacalao, zamburiñas plancha, salteado de setas and charlota de vainilla + gel de flores for dessert. The food was perfect and I was especially amazed by the dessert. The flavor of the flower gel was very intense but not artificial at all, it really felt like eating flowers. The waiter was very attentive and I had a lovely chat with him after the meal. I highly recommend this place and would love to come back!

As a seasoned traveller that spends many weekends across countries in Europe this is the worst lunch I have ever had in a restaurant. The service was slow and took over 45 minutes to receive our first starter. I ordered a prime cut of steak - only to receive a small piece that was half gristle. For someone passing through Santander I recommend not visiting this place.

Very good place to eat a good meat, even though was a bit too raw for the medium that we asked. The mushrooms are very good. The place is very traditional but was full and the noise was too much we couldn't almost talk. The staff was friendly and very nice.

While they lack on the inside seating they make up for it with plenty of outdoor dining drinking and atmosphere. The food is clean and full of natural flavor. Meat, fish and veggies are a brief description. But if you came for the meat, you will be very happy when they serve your dish rare with the side of hot stone so you can sear it to your liking! 5 stars 🤩

Perfection in grilled meats! I’m dining solo and although the menu does not offer a mixed grill for one, only for two, they did it for me anyway and it was spectacular! I also asked for a tomato salad.. cause health.. and they did it, super open, very cool, love this place.. and yummy house wine by the way! Thank you!

The hotel room was not the biggest of its kind, but it was clean and furnished lovely, so it did its job very well. It's very pleasing that the hotel has a parking lot included. The restaurant can be recommended without doubts: very lovely as well, and you can feel the love for details. The waitress has been very professional and kind and you can expect very delicious food for a fair price. We would definitely come back again!!

Really nice spot and super friendly staff. Would definitely recommend for a chill night with the family or a football match. The vibe is really nice and the rabas portions are outrageously large. I can’t quite communicate how full I am but 1000% satisfied.

Great seafood restaurant recommended by and full of locals in the know, only 2km from centre of Santander yet overlooking the sea. Only 6 people when I arrived and 40 mins later it was full.

Very nice experience and definitely worth it to visit when travelling through Santander. We ordered some monkfish and the bacalao salad (the 1/2 portion is already pretty big!) which were absolutely delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful and made the atmosphere feel welcoming. We decided to go to "Las Olas" because we like seafood, it was nearby our hotel and the reviews were good. The scenery was nice; the staff didn't speak english but we managed to order what we liked. The scallops were exceptional; only this starter is worth eating to this restaurant. We like seafood and understand the taste and I can say that I haven't eaten such a tasty dish elsewhere; paella was very good as well. The quality/price ratio in this restaurant is really very good.

Had my spoken Spanish 🇪🇸 been better, Vermuteria Solórzano would’ve been even more enjoyable! Obviously a very popular destination from the outset. Decent glasses of Mahou accompanied by olives in a slightly spicy oil/marinade. Mitada Rabas & patatas bravas were everything I hoped they’d be! Dry Vermouth was a new thing for this ‘dyed in the wool Yorkshireman’ & very pleasant it was too - sweet even though it was ‘dry’ & @ 15% it wasn’t going to kill me. Nice big ice cubes to make it cold. Solôrzano was so good that I went back on my second day in Santander!

I recently dined in. The fried squid was excellent—crispy, tender, and served hot and fast. The staff were friendly and even engaged me in conversation since I was dining alone. Although I had a small issue with my credit card payment, they handled it kindly. Despite being a vermuteria, most clients weren't having vermut. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and I would recommend it.

Lobster with rice, "zamburiñas" and the different kinds of fish make this restaurant the best one to have real seafood in Santander. Economical due to the quality of the dishes and the service. It's recommendable to spend a whole day for resting the food.

I did not like the main course, neither did my husband. First i was surprised, that cod fish is just one small piece for 20 eur, but then i was happy, because it was almost not eatable. I was very hungry, otherwise i would complain or better go. His dish was chicken, which was like they took all the chicken and left just wings and small part of the leg. This part of menu is seriously overpriced. Wine was ok, and cheesecake was truly amazing, although not in a classic way. Coffee is also very good.

A quaint little cafe with a lot of charm, excellent service and delicious, healthy food. It is tucked away off the main streets which means it’s not crowded or super touristy and the food is unique. They really take their coffee and their food very seriously and we will definitely be back!

A Michelin recommended restaurant, that why we went there. The stuff is very nice, but they have a lot to improve. All the bread crumbs was on the table from the beginning until the end, there in not so many deserts or vegetarian options. Also not so cheap and the dishes kind of small (but tasty)
