We attended a great concert. Beautiful bar with good cocktails and mocktails (apple paradise was amazing)

Lovely location away from the centre of town on a Sunday evening and attentive service. A superb Negroni and white wine with excellent Iberica ham and toasted/tomato bread. A really different kind of bar. We will return.
Tom M — Google review
We came to Sunset Jazz Bar on our first afternoon in Girona after landing from London. Emma greeted us with very good margaritas, delicious jamon iberico and a lovely conversation. She gave us recommendations for the best non-touristy beach to go to, and few of the great spots to eat. We came back on our last evening to say thank you and ordered exactly the same as pictured, still 10/10. Our only regret is coming in the summer where we just missed the weekly jazz night on Thursday. We'll be back!

I'm giving it 1 star for the simple fact that you don't know what nights there is live music. The website is a joke. Surely there should be an option to read it in English 🙄

Wonderful place! Friendly, welcoming and very accommodating staff. Delicious cocktails and very good natural wines. The musical agenda is great. Girona is very lucky to have such an incredible place.
Laura H — Google review
I really enjoyed this place when going for a jazz concert. I thought there was a great atmosphere, the service was great and the cocktails were amazing. I had a couple of amazing gin cocktails (in that giant goblet) and I also had a cava and gin cocktail which was to absolutely incredible. The place looks beautiful, decorated with dark red and stony walls. We sat at the bar after the concert and it was just really nice.

Girona Cathedral, a Roman Catholic church in Girona, is a popular tourist attraction known for its Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. The cathedral features a record-breaking 22-meter-wide Gothic nave. Visitors can enjoy the scenic views of the cathedral from Cafe l'Arc on Placa de la Catedrale. The old town also offers attractions such as the Cloister and the Tower of Charlemagne, dating back to the 13th century.
800 years in the making, and well worth a visit. At only €7.50 for the Cathedral and the Basilica down the road, it very fairly priced. There is an audio tour which is detailed and insightful, and provides good context to the building. Overall, it’s a highly impressive, historic must visit in Girona! Don’t forget to walk around the beautiful gardens just to the north.
Austen U — Google review
Don’t walk run to this iconic Cathedral. The steps are wonderful to sit and people watch and soak in the Game of Thrones feeling. Inside is grand. The cloisters in the garden are lovely to sit and cool off. I bought the 3 in 1 ticket so no need to line up… go to the tourism office in Girona first. They are so helpful. Quite wonderful.
Sheree S — Google review
Lovely cathedral and nice to see where they filmed some of the game of thrones. The walk on the wall surrounding it is quite something and worth doing. If you more in depth information it's probably worth going on a small guided tour.
Neil C — Google review
Visiting Girona Cathedral was one of the most memorable experiences of my trip to Spain. Climbing the steep steps to see its stunning Gothic façade and elegant Baroque details, I knew it was going to be unforgettable. Inside, the cathedral’s nave—the widest Gothic nave in the world—left me completely in awe. The way light streamed through the stained-glass windows and highlighted the intricate stonework made me feel like I was walking through centuries of history. What fascinated me even more were the stories hidden within these walls. The cathedral has witnessed pivotal moments in history, from the medieval struggles during the Reconquista to its role as a religious and political center in Catalonia. I was intrigued to learn that it was originally built on the site of an earlier Romanesque church, and its construction spanned several centuries, reflecting the changing styles and influences over time. Beautiful cloisters, which date back to the 11th century, have seen everything from daily monastic life to historical ceremonies that shaped the region. Inside, there is so much to see. The main altar, with its stunning Gothic retablo, is breathtaking, and the Treasury houses priceless religious artifacts, including chalices, reliquaries, and medieval manuscripts. The Museu d’Art Sacre attached to the cathedral showcases beautiful liturgical garments and intricate paintings. I was also captivated by the fantastic rose window at the entrance and the Baroque pulpit, which is a true masterpiece of craftsmanship. Legend adds an extra layer of magic to the cathedral. They say that on quiet nights, the ghostly figure of a white-clad woman—known as the “White Lady of Girona”—wanders the cloisters, mourning a lost love. Locals claim she was a noblewoman whose secret romance ended tragically, and her spirit now lingers, protecting the cathedral and its treasures. This add a pinch of mystery to the history of this magnificent church. Climbing the tower gave me a breathtaking view of Girona’s old town, the Onyar River, and the surrounding hills—it really makes you appreciate how this cathedral has stood as a guardian over the city for centuries. For anyone visiting Girona, the cathedral is not just a sight to see—it’s a journey through time, mystery, and culture. Entrance cost €7.50 and its well worth it.
Przemyslaw K — Google review
This is a must see in Girona, from its Gothic architecture to its history and modern-day GOT references. There is something for everyone! While a bit crowded, it never felt overwhelming and we were able to enjoy the climb up the stairs and the views.
Lina C — Google review
A must visit if in Girona especially if you are a game of thrones fan. Jaime rode his horse partially up the stairs which is very impressive. Word is it took 2 weeks to train the horse. Inside is a small museum and amazing architecture for your entry fee. Views from top of stairs are really cool.
Steven S — Google review
I had a fairly negative experience when visiting this cathedral which was a shame. I was approached by some men on the street and shouted at, which took away from the natural beauty and atmosphere of the cathedral, i was warned by locals not to be in the area by myself and they walked me back to the centre of Girona. I think if you are in a group or with a friend it is definitely worth a visit, I was just unlucky, and maybe be a bit more alert if you are a solo female traveller too!

Cu cut is a traditional pub in Girona that stands out from the upscale bars and pubs in the city. It attracts a local crowd including students, residents, and workers. The pub offers a good selection of beers and liquors at reasonable prices. Despite getting noisy at times, it's popular among locals for gin tonics, beer, and table football. Located near Placa Independencia, Cu cut is known for its late hours and friendly staff.
Love this place. Just off Placa Independencia. Popular spot with locals for gin tonics, beer and table football. Open late. Friendly staff and regulars.
Nick L — Google review
I had the oxtail which was disappointing. Tasteless and not tender. What was even more disappointing was the pricing and billing. On the menu, inside and outside the oxtail was listed as €15.95, and tomato bread €3.50. When the bill arrived these items were listed as €17.50 and €3.85 respectively. I didn't pick up the error on the tomato bread until afterwards but queried the oxtail. Waitrons response was that prices are different between inside and outside. She said this was specified on the menu outside. I clarified that she had given me a menu inside and the price was €15.95. I ordered on that basis. Of all the years of dining around the world I have never encountered a different price inside vs outside especially when the menus are the same, in and out. This seems like an opportunistic rip off of a tourist with a really weak response when the error was detected.
Richard T — Google review
Girona is full of night bars and pubs, most of them cater to the 'posh' public in the city, with elevated prices and questionable admittance policies. Cu-cut is not one of those places, it's one of the last 'traditional' pubs remaining. You'll find mostly a local crowd, students, residents, workers...enjoying their time. They have a good selection of beers and liquors and the prices are not too high. It can get a bit noisy. If you want to have a drink with a cheerful crowd is one of the best options in the historical center of the city.

Lux Girona is a popular student discotheque and pub that offers a vibrant atmosphere with current chart-topping music blasting from massive sound systems. The venue draws in a large international crowd of young, beautiful people who enjoy the latest hits and often end up here after their night out.
Big. Three bars. Good music. Great interior.

Great experience. Drinks are not outlandishly priced—standard for a club. Service was very good and the bouncer was very friendly, even though I didn't speak Spanish or Catalan—he did his job well and let me back in after I stepped outside with my friends and had a cigarette, and even engaged in some conversation with us. My only two small complaints were that the DJing was a little erratic: the song choice was great, but the DJ would change songs a little too frequently, sometimes even only playing a verse and a chorus of one song before switching to the next on the queue. Additionally some of the transitions were not subtle in the slightest and the tempo and key changes stood out sometimes. The other small complaint is that it took a while to build the energy up. I arrived an hour after the club opened, when it was already 1am, but the club was not lively until after 3am. Perhaps this is normal in Spain and Catalonia. Other than the above, the experience was very good. The song choice itself was solid, with hits ranging from the last 25 years mostly to the latest releases. Bartenders and staff knew what they were doing and were efficient in any servings and clean-ups, and there were many young people dancing energetically.
Jonny — Google review
They are so rude. Bodyguards are so so rude. They treat as an animal. They do not let me go outside to get some fresh air and yesterday they punched my friend in the face for asking why dont you let me out. Do not waste your money for them. You will not have a good night.

Historical landmark
The Arab Baths, also known as Banys Arabs, are a well-preserved public bathhouse in Girona, built in 1194. Constructed by Morisco craftsmen in the late 12th century, these baths follow the Roman model and consist of three rooms: a cold bath, a warm bath with an octagonal pool and skylight, and a steam room. The baths showcase elegant horseshoe arches and intricate stonework.
Tucked away in Girona’s historic quarter, the Arab Baths offer a serene escape into a world of ancient craftsmanship and soothing ambiance. Stepping inside, you’re immediately transported to a time when these baths were not just places of cleansing but centers of social and cultural exchange. The cool stone interiors, graceful arches, and subtle lighting create an atmosphere that invites quiet contemplation. Every detail—from the intricately carved arches to the gentle echo of footsteps on polished stone—speaks to a rich heritage inspired by Moorish design. While the space may be modest in size, its historical significance and architectural beauty resonate deeply with visitors. For those with a passion for history or a love for unique, off-the-beaten-path experiences, the Arab Baths in Girona provide a captivating glimpse into the past. Whether you’re a history buff or simply looking for a peaceful retreat from the modern city bustle, this hidden gem offers a memorable journey back in time. Tip: For the most reflective experience, visit during the quieter hours of the day to fully immerse yourself in the tranquil ambiance and intricate details of this historic site.

The Basílica de Sant Feliu in Girona is a stunning church that showcases a blend of Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque architecture. It features an impressive Baroque facade, striking Gothic tower, and numerous Romanesque elements. The church is home to several notable works of art, including eight intricately carved sarcophagi and a sculpture of the Recumbent Christ by Catalan sculptor Aloi de Montbrai.
The Basílica de Sant Feliu is a wonderful addition to the Girona Cathedral, and when combined with the charming old city, they form a beautiful Girona panorama. With its picturesque setting among narrow, shady streets, charming cafes, and shops, it offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy a lovely time in Girona.

Its incredibly beautiful... in my opinion its way cooler on the inside then the cathedral. The tickets are quit cheap. If you're in Girone you HAVE to go check this place i swear its breathtaking 😍.
Lotte C — Google review
Visiting the Basilica of Sant Feliu was one of my favorite moments in Girona. It sits just below the cathedral, but in many ways it feels even more ancient and authentic. Knowing that the first church here was built in the 4th century, over the tomb of Saint Feliu, makes the place feel truly special. You can see the layers of history in every stone. The mix of styles is beautiful: the solid Romanesque base, elegant Gothic arches, and touches of Baroque detail show how the church evolved over hundreds of years. The bell tower is stunning up close — slender and graceful, rising high above the old town. Inside basilica is very calm. I loved the collection of Roman and early Christian sarcophagi, carved with such detail that they almost feel alive. The main altar, where the relics of Saint Feliu rest, has a quiet, sacred atmosphere that’s easy to feel even if you’re not religious. It’s a place that combines history, beauty, and peace in a very natural way. Tickets cost only €12 and includes entrance to nearby cathedral and art museum. Audio guides available if you want to know the place better and more detailed.

Enjoyed a relaxing few hours at McKiernans in Girona while we watched Man Utd lose to Arsenal. Prices for drinks were higher than average, as per usual with an irish bar, but not extortionate. The kitchen opened at 6.30, we had the OG burger, chicken wings and pulled pork sandwich, all were delicious and prices were fairly reasonable. Bar staff were friendly and attentive. Match commentary wasn't too loud which I enjoyed but apparently soccer fans don't.

Delicious food, definitely way better than I expected. Very good service, although not too fast - the terrace is big and in a very concurred street, so it makes sense you'd have to wait a bit. A bit pricey, mainly the drinks (2'40€ for a bottle of water). Very good experience in general, a bit on the expensive side but it's to be expected of a touristy place like this. Would recommend.

It is a beautiful and expansive place for outdoor activities. It's definitely worth taking a walk, running, riding a bike, bringing your dogs to play, or having a picnic.

Decent park near the centre of Girona. Great place to walk dogs or go for a run
Karina O — Google review
Very large park with exercise equipment, a kids playground, a garden with a place for food and coffee, a large tree grove, a dog park, a large pool and a walking path.
Kristi B — Google review
Unfortunately too noisy from busy streets along the perimeter. The park itself is beautiful, with magnificent trees, but all the tourist stuff and attractions they temporarily built for the season are ugly and diminish the purpose of the park.
Anna K — Google review
Very nice walk and picturesque place. Had a nice time walking through the park. Had some coffee at the coffee shop and enjoyed the weather and Woody atmosphere. There are some very nice flowers and peacocks in the park
Rosh B — Google review
Really nice park to just relax and let the weight of the day drift away, nice Aspidistra bed
Anthony H — Google review
A large park with an impressive tree-lined entrance and two sections - one a large grassed area with playground equipment; another with tall trees like a mini forest. If you go a little further on one side of the tree area, you'll reach a maintained garden that you can relax in that's also next to a restaurant.

Highly recommended. There is a selection of tapas and the selection of wine is both classic and new. The craft beer is excellent. Showcasing the classics and some new age wines. We were made very welcome. Back street vibes, warm environment and you can jump striaght in. Very, very happy with the experience and the stories from my visits.

My glass still had someone else's lipstick on it and when replaced it was still dirty and didn't match my partners (when you pay 20 for a bottle it seems the least you need to do) also the tapas was good but one dish of four was forgotten. Stools are uncomfortable and tables cheap. A 4.8 rating wasn't my experience but the staff are friendly and overall it was ok.

Sant Pere de Galligants is a medieval church and monastery in Girona, known for its archeological museum displaying historic relics. The site dates back to the 10th century and was once home to Benedictine monks. The monastery's church and cloister have survived through the centuries, featuring an impressive octagonal bell tower and elegant round arches that are now architectural highlights of the city.
Came in to see the site that was used for The Citadel shots in Season 6 of Game of Thrones! Beautiful space. Tickets are 7 euros to enter.

Sant Pere de Galligants is one of two Benedictine monasteries in Girona’s historic center. Its construction began in the 10th century in Romanesque style with further construction starting in the 12th century. Tickets cost €7 for adults in April 2025 to the archeological museum that is housed in the monastery. However, even walking around the exterior of the building admiring its architecture is worth it.

Kids area first floor with instructives comics, pictures to colour, other amazing roman glasing vase! Highly informative panels and antique objects. Is really worth a visit

It was mostly empty inside but there were some old tombs and ancient Latin writings. There is big garden at the back of it, it very peaceful. Also if you go upstairs there is an exhibition of history from the oldest to till now. It was very pleasing however I wish they had enough English explanations. Mostly explanations are in Catalan.

Fine dining restaurant
El Celler de Can Roca is a chic bistro in Costa Brava, run by the three Roca brothers. The restaurant has received numerous accolades and is known for its inventive variations on traditional Catalan recipes. It offers multi-course tasting menus with dishes like oyster with anemone sauce, garlic sand, tender walnut, and seaweeds.
I went here for lunch today with my friend. I booked for today, 12:30, a year ago. All I can say is that it’s worth the wait. The food and the service exceeded my expectations. I’m very happy with my experience and my friend can say the same. We even got the chance to have a photo with Joan Roca. He was also there when we arrived and greeted us (and I assume other people who followed).
Charriz B — Google review
Michelin guide from 1983 states that a 3 Michelin star restaurant can boast of “Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey. Superb food, fine wines, faultless service, elegant surroundings... One will pay accordingly!”. We did that *special* journey to Can Roca almost one year ago - and all this time I had mixed feelings about writing the review of 3 out of 5 for a Michelin 3* restaurant. The truth is - superb food was there. The chefs still do have something to say. The signatures (like the olive tree) are awesome. As well as fine wines (please please if you decide to visit, spare those extra €€ for a wine pairing - you will be surprised how well thought is the interplay of food and wines). The desserts by Jordi Roca are very playful and you will feel his vibe of an “enfant terrible” - on top of that, petits four are being served from a lovely dessert trolley (our portions of chocolate were really generous and the kid even got some to take away). So why 3 out of 5? The service and the attention to special asks. One of us called well in advance before the visit asking if there are dishes with fresh vegetables and if those could be changed for something else. When we arrived, the ask was repeated. We had a long profound conversation on if that person really, but really can’t eat the very wonderful fresh veggies the chef was preparing. We reconfirmed that definitely not and asked again if he could get some alternative. A lady said that she would do her best and disappeared - later on we were served by other people. To our surprise our friend got absolutely the same dishes as everyone else. With no disclaimer, no excuse. C’mon, we all know that some chefs are very sensitive in terms of customization - I respect that, but if it’s the case, it would be great to let clients know in advance. As a result, our friend had to miss 3 dishes. Obviously, when it’s a 17 items course, 3 is not a big deal and we didn’t say anything, I’m very well aware how stressful the service might be even without complaining clients. But when we were asked if we would come back - we said yes only out of politeness. If 3* stars are considered “the Mount Everest of fine dining”, maybe we’ll climb Kilimanjaro next time.
Julia M — Google review
I don’t know what I can say that has not already said about this place. This was the last dinner of our European summer trip this year. We were lucky to get off the waitlist. Rented a car just to drive 1hr from Barcelona to dine here for dinner. 3* mean it’s worth a trip just to go and dine. I would agree as it was worth that trip and drive: the epitome of 3*. The food, hospitality and service are beyond words. It’s so many course but they were all so tasteful and fun; we didn’t want it to stop. All this success and the Roca brothers are still so humble; each one gracing us with their presence that evening. The wine pairing is a must, but next time, I’m taking a deep dive in their expansive list of thousands of bottles. Expect a 4hr meal, at least. They deserve their accolades and I can’t wait to go back.
Justin L — Google review
I am not sure it’s possible to create a more complete, delicious meal from start to finish. This was so much better than almost every other fine dining restaurant I’ve been to. Not much else to say. So perfect in every regard from the food to setting to service.

2025 "Festival" menu - extraordinary tastes and preparations. Very large quantity of food--surprisingly great value in the context of fine dining. Particular highlights: alcoholic drink/wine program, as well as the brioche bread variations.

An Ode to Culinary Perfection – El Celler de Can Roca Redefines Fine Dining Dining at El Celler de Can Roca is not simply a meal—it is a meticulously orchestrated performance, where every element resonates with artistry and soul. Nestled in the tranquil heart of Girona, this temple of gastronomy transforms dining into an immersive, almost transcendental experience. The Roca brothers have mastered a rare alchemy: combining groundbreaking innovation with an unwavering devotion to Catalan heritage. Each dish on the tasting menu tells a story, seamlessly weaving local traditions with bold global inspirations. The journey is as intellectual as it is sensory—expect whimsical nods to world travel, poetic homages to memory and scent, and presentations so beautiful they border on sculpture. Every plate is an interplay of texture, temperature, and taste so harmoniously composed it feels like a culinary symphony. Highlights like the evocative Memory of a Turkish Perfume are not just flavors—they’re emotions, evoking nostalgia and wonder in equal measure. Seafood dances with precision, aged meats sing with depth, and desserts arrive as if they were dreamed by an artist, not a chef. The service is world-class: warm, instinctive, and deeply human. The staff’s storytelling elevates each course, and every detail—from timing to table choreography—is perfectly considered. The wine program, curated by Josep Roca, is nothing short of legendary; his pairings amplify the experience into something ethereal, where every sip feels curated for that exact moment in time. El Celler de Can Roca is not merely one of the best restaurants in the world—it’s a destination where food becomes poetry and hospitality becomes art. The experience is intimate yet grand, playful yet profound. It is worth every mile traveled, every moment anticipated, and every memory it leaves imprinted on your soul. For any true lover of cuisine, this is a pilgrimage—a reminder that dining, at its very best, can move you.

A Culinary Masterpiece – El Celler de Can Roca Exceeds All Expectations Dining at El Celler de Can Roca is not just a meal—it’s an unforgettable journey through flavor, innovation, and artistry. From the moment you arrive in the serene surroundings of Girona, you know you’re about to experience something truly exceptional. The Roca brothers have created a restaurant that flawlessly balances avant-garde creativity with deep-rooted respect for tradition. Each dish is a carefully crafted narrative, merging Catalan heritage with global inspiration. The tasting menu flows like a symphony: inventive, emotional, and utterly precise. Expect moments of pure wonder—like the famous "memory of a Turkish perfume" or dishes inspired by world travels that still feel deeply personal. The presentation is breathtaking, often resembling modern art more than food. But this is no case of style over substance—the flavors are bold, harmonious, and deeply satisfying. Whether it’s the perfectly aged meats, delicate seafood, or whimsical desserts, each course reveals the team’s relentless pursuit of perfection. Service is impeccable—warm, knowledgeable, and never intrusive. The staff anticipates every need while explaining each dish and wine pairing with passion and clarity. Speaking of wine, Josep Roca’s legendary wine cellar is a treasure trove. The pairings elevate the meal to another dimension entirely. El Celler de Can Roca deserves every accolade it has received—and then some. It’s a rare restaurant where gastronomy becomes emotional, even poetic. Worth every bit of anticipation, travel, and cost, it’s an experience that lingers in your memory long after the final bite. A must-visit for any serious food lover. Simply one of the best restaurants in the world.

When exploring the charming streets of Girona, make sure to visit Pont de les Peixateries Velles, also known as Eiffel Bridge. This iconic bridge, dating back to 1877 and built by the renowned Eiffel et Cie company, offers a picturesque view of the colorful buildings along the Onyar river. As you cross this historic bridge, you'll be treated to a unique perspective of the city's architecture and natural beauty.
Stepping onto the Pont de les Peixateries Velles is like entering a living museum of 19th-century innovation. Designed by Gustave Eiffel in 1877, this elegant bridge showcases his pioneering approach to iron architecture. Its intricate latticework and enduring design are not only a testament to advanced engineering but also a striking piece of art that enriches the urban landscape. Walking along the bridge, you’re treated to scenic views that merge the historic charm of the old fish market area with the modern vibrancy of the city. The interplay of light on the iron structure—especially during sunrise or sunset—creates a captivating atmosphere that’s perfect for photography enthusiasts and history buffs alike.

Ponte de les Peixateries Velles was built from 1876 to 1877 by the company responsible for constructing the Eiffel Tower in Paris. This pedestrian only bridge is very popular amongst tourists as it connects the historic old part of the city to the new part. It’s bright red painted steel is an eye catcher though the diamond shapes created by crisscrossing the steel beams is also something to marvel at. Definitely recommend

It’s a nice place that I wished to visit, however, it’s pretty in videos and images but not the same beauty in real. The houses don’t look clean and even the river. Was a bit disappointed after visiting the place.

This bridge has the wow factor, not only because it was designed by Gustave Eiffel's company in 1877, before the famous Eiffel Tower. This red, wrought-iron bridge spans the Onyar River and provides iconic views of Girona's colorful riverside houses.

An avant garde bridge in Girona, Spain that is designed by one famous Gustave Eiffel in 1877. It is a deep red color that is eye-catching and terrific for social share. The bridge is less than nine feet wide, and its length across the Onyar River is about 136 feet. Good view of the river and the buildings along it from the bridge

Great viewing point in Girona separating the city into two halves. You see beautiful colourful house on the banks of Onyar river. There are many local food shops around. We had the absolute pleasure of meeting Mariona, and she made our visit unforgettable. Not only is she incredibly talented at her craft, but she is also one of the friendliest and most genuine bartenders we’ve ever met. We told her exactly the type of cocktail we were craving, and her craft-master skills whipped it up perfectly—easily one of the best cocktails we’ve ever had. On top of that, we ordered a cheese plate, and Mariona took the time to explain the exact order to enjoy the cheeses in. Her knowledge and attention to detail elevated the entire experience. And the olives—absolutely to die for! We traveled all the way from the United States, and NYKTERI’S was a must-visit on our list after seeing it on Instagram. It did not disappoint. Girona wall is unmissable even f you are going on a day trip. It’s easy to walk & you must walk it if you visit the old town . During my 2 weeks stay I climbed it several times from 3 different routs , south & notrth . It goes through old town and offers get b’views of cities and observation points. You will love the detailing of wall with its lovely little windows or red stone or steps and small squares to wait and enjoy views. You can climb at some places the small metal circular staircases to have higher views of the city or skip it altogether and continue walking . It is bit narrow but 2 ppl can easily pass at a time. The height of wall is well maintained without any risk of falling or slipping . O realm feet pleasant experience and short hike at a historic place, definitely a must to do . It’s free completely.

We stopped in Girona just for a day on our way back from Morocco, and walking along the Muralles was one of the highlights. The views over the city and nearby hills are stunning, and the historical atmosphere is really strong here. It happened to be during the flower festival, which made everything feel extra magical. It's a beautiful mix of nature, history, and peaceful city vibes. Would definitely come back to explore more. 📌 Interesting fact: The Girona city walls (Muralles de Girona) date back to Roman times and were expanded during the medieval period. Today, you can walk long stretches of the restored walls for free and enjoy panoramic views of the historic center and the surrounding area.

Café le Bistrot is a Girona classic that has maintained its iconic status since the late '70s. The restaurant exudes a French ambiance reminiscent of authentic Parisian brasseries and offers a range of dishes, including Catalan meats and cheeses, pancakes, and housemade desserts.
At 22 Euros the 3 course lunch ( plus a glass of wine) is hard to beat... Especially given the number of dishes you can chose from with each course... We were able to get a table at 2:30 and even then the place was still packed with locals who know a good thing. My wife's excellent grilled steak ( 3 Euros extra ) took top prize. She also liked the onion" souffle" . My baked cod was pretty good but the cheese cake was delicious. We paid another supplement of 5 Euros for a whole bottle of the house wine. This is an excellent opportunity to try homestyle Catalan cooking. Reservations highly recommended... 3 generous courses and a bottle of wine for 2 of came to Euro 50. That's pretty good in this day and age , especially for a good meal.

The location is really superb! It is like in a movie! Big plus that it is open till 00:00. But the food was not tasty at all. I ordered fish with peas purée and sweet pancakes with strawberry. Fish was very greasy and almost no spices, and puree was tasting like raw flour…when I asked to add some salad with vegetables without onion (but any kind of vegetables including cucumbers etc) I got a strange plate of peas and carrot with no spices. Pancakes were tasteless too, only strawberries were fine lol. The waitress with black hair (Bushere / Bu) was the only one serving me (she seems to be the only one working here normally) other waiters (around 3 of them) were ignoring me even when I looked at them. I was waiting for any waiter to come for 20 min to take my order… and before I was not given any menu, u had to ask for it. Moreover, another waitress (black woman) was super unpleasant with her behavior, the way how she brought me glass of water and took my dishes was very disrespectful. Additionally, normally you shouldn’t wait in the restaurant too long for waiter to come and ask if you need anything else / or you want to pay. Here I waited forever, no one really came back to me to check. Restaurant doesn’t have English menu. The smell inside the restaurant is not good - a strong smell of detergent like bleach (on tables). I hope this place will reconsider the staff and will make it a good spot for visitors not only because of the location. I expected tasty food how it should be and standard service but instead I got neither of this. Sad.

The terrace and location could not be beaten. The servers were lovely also, translating the Catalan menu, and taking the food back. But the food was underwhelming. I ordered the steak with duck liver pate, medium rare. But it came fully cooked through. I sent it back, and this time there was a little pink on the inside - still not right. The pate was delicate and couldn’t be tasted on the steak. I would avoid this dish.

This place came highly recommended. Food is very competent and service is decent. We each had to order a set and seating on the terrace was not available, which might have been a more of a highlight. All in all no regrets eating here. Great value for money.

The scenery is amazing, service was very good, and the food is such an experience. I would highly recommend to try the “pates” that they have, it was the best I’ve had in Spain

Fantastic menu. A must stop on your walk around Girona. Right in front of a Game of Thrones spot.

We had lunch at this place and were pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere is very cozy, and although the outside terrace, which is usually picturesque, wasn't available at that time, we were comfortably seated inside. Opting for the daily menu turned out to be an excellent choice. The dishes were exceptional: the pumpkin soup was velvety and delicious, and the grilled meat was simply amazing. For dessert, I ordered cheese with honey, and to my delight, it tasted exactly like the Russian "творог с медом." Overall, it was a great experience!

Located in the basement of Girona's casino, Divinum is a top-notch restaurant known for its artfully presented seasonal dishes. The dining room features a beautiful brick ceiling that exudes elegance and attention to detail. The restaurant is run by Laura Tejero, a skilled sommelier, and Joan Morillo, an experienced head waiter. They bring their expertise from renowned establishments like El Raco de Can Fabes and Rossini.
Was able to get a reservation for same day easily while traveling and saw the venue while sightseeing in Girona. We tried the tasting menu. Everyone at table must order this. It was pricey but worth the money. I was too full by the last two deserts. There were so many courses and the service was impeccable. Highly recommend!

Dining Experience at Divinium in Girona – High-Level Service but an Uneven Culinary Journey During our recent vacation in Girona, we spontaneously decided to visit the Michelin-listed restaurant Divinium. We were fortunate to get a table despite booking on short notice. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a sleek and elegant design, though the atmosphere felt silent somewhat stiff and minimalist. It’s possible this was an intentional aspect of the experience. We opted for the smaller tasting menu at €110 per person, as the larger menu (€130) would have taken an additional hour beyond the two hours for the smaller menu. The restaurant also offered a wine pairing for around €70, which we found to be an intriguing option. The visit ended up taking nearly three hours despite choosing the smaller menu. The service was exceptional, marked by attentiveness and professionalism. The staff ensured our glasses were always filled, the table was cleaned between courses, and small details like folding the napkin when one of us went to the restroom were much appreciated. One small area for improvement would be the clarity of the explanations of the dishes in English, as they were sometimes delivered quickly and weren’t always easy to understand. As for the food, the dishes were generally interesting and flavorful, with innovative presentations. However, we felt that some dishes lacked that final touch to feel truly complete. One dish, the "Duck with pear," was unfortunately a disappointment for us. It had a strong iron or metallic taste and a grainy texture (it was a type of pâté) that made it inedible for us. The server offered to replace the dish, but we declined. As a kind gesture, we were later served two extra desserts, which we appreciated. The menu started off very strong, with the brioche bread and the smoked eel being highlights, but it lost some momentum towards the end. None of the desserts stood out as particularly memorable, though they were perfectly acceptable. They did impress with very nice plating and presentation, including an effective use of dry ice. A very nice touch from the restaurant was that after the meal, we received personalized, gold-colored pamphlets listing all the dishes we had eaten that evening, along with the date and the names of all the staff who worked that night. This was a very stylish and memorable touch that we will truly appreciate. Despite some inconsistencies in the culinary experience, it was overall an exciting and good experience for the total price of €245 (including food, cava, and sparkling water). We truly appreciated the high level of service and the creative cooking at Divinium, even though there is room for improvement.
Daniel G — Google review
Came here to enjoy the “small” tasting menu which I took with the wine pairings. The appetizers were superb including an eel tartlet with lemon foam and a cod tartlet with red pepper gel. The mains were hit or miss. The snail with onion and anchovy was delicious. The egg yolk cured in salt and sugar and finished with a celeriac cream was strange. The cream was tasty but the egg seemed a bit overdone as it stuck to the teeth. The codfish was well prepared but overall the dish was quite salty. The strawberry and cream dessert was both delicious and beautifully presented. The professionalism of the staff was fantastic. They really worked as one team. The decor seemed sterile for a Michelin but maybe that was intentional? Not to my liking. I thought overall the meal and the pairings were well worth the price. Be prepared - 3hrs from start to finish.

It is a must experience to have if the 1 star Michelin restaurant is affordable for you. We had the "Menu Esencia", a fantastic explosion of flavours. Thoroughly enjoyed it and I thoroughly recommend it. The only thing I believe could be better, my opinion, is that the restaurant decoration could be much warmer and welcoming. I did find it slightly cold, which I guess is because they want the food and service to be the main focus of attention, nevertheless, if it was a bit warmer and welcoming space, it would definitely be a 5 star all round!
Enric J — Google review
Truly a memorable experience. From the service to the tasting menu, everything was executed with intention and finesse. I cannot wait to come back.
Nina M — Google review
What an absolutely amazing evening! If you have a penchant for viewing food as a form of art and relishing in a culinary theater, this is undeniably the place for you. We decided to go for the small tasting paired with wine, and let me tell you, it turned into a delightful marathon of flavors that stretched nearly three hours. Every single bite was like a symphony of taste explosions. While the interior exudes an elegant ambiance, it did take us a brief moment to fully embrace the brightness of the lights. Nevertheless, once settled, it contributed to the overall charm of the place. We can't recommend it enough – a truly remarkable experience for those who appreciate the fusion of artistry and exceptional taste in their dining adventure! A true gastronomic restaurant!

Nestled in the heart of Girona, Brots de Vi is a delightful culinary gem that offers an eco-friendly twist on traditional Catalan cuisine. This charming restaurant specializes in tapas, burgers, salads, and vegetarian dishes, all crafted with locally sourced ingredients. The philosophy here emphasizes simplicity and authenticity—dishes are presented naturally without excessive embellishment. With a menu featuring reasonably priced options ranging from 8 to 16 euros, it’s an excellent choice for those seeking quality dining without breaking the bank.
We came just before the kitchen closed. Great beers on tap, waiter was amazing very good with his knowledge of the menu and what he likes. We enjoyed his energy which matches with the energy of the diners. The food was muy Bien. Recommended to the max

Amazing bistro with quality food and outstanding service! We went there twice - first time just taking a chance in our search for some delicious and healthy breakfast and 2d time cuz Brots de Vi was the only place we found that ticked all the boxes for us on our 1st visit. Their yogurt with granola and fresh fruits was not only scrumptious delicious, but also beautifully presented (see the pic). Cappuccino and croissants were made to perfection and delivered unrivaled taste! But what topped it all off was the service! Our waiter, Dan, made our experience truly exceptional with his welcoming attitude and upbeat vibe! He also offered valuable insights and tips on local tourism, which really enhanced our stay. The next day we locked ourselves out of our hotel room and came to this bistro as it was located really close by. And in a moment of need, the bistro showed remarkable kindness and trust when we had an unexpected situation with our hotel room, they really came through for us. Thank you guys for making our stay in Girona unforgettable! 🙏🏻❤️

An excellent restaurant to enjoy delicious food from starters to desserts, located in the heart of Girona's old town. The service was good throughout-friendly and efficient. Nothing to complain about. Highly recommended!
Abdelati B — Google review
It's a good restaurant. However I think it's somewhat overpriced. Food was not that good. Well, at least I didn't like my dish. I ordered a roasted duck. It was hard to chew because it was super rare for a duck. I didn't feel any outstanding tastes. Same for a steak which was ordered by my friends. Maybe other dishes are better. Also, I think it's better to order food for sharing at this place. However, they have excellent service. They were super friendly and helpful.
Giorgi T — Google review
The food was well prepared and the portions were great for sharing. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. In particular, one staff member who was standing in front of the outdoor seating area was disrespectful and very annoying, which ruined the experience for us.

In gerona you have many nice places to go and eat. This restaurant is one of those places. We ate on the terrace. It is really cozy but certainly not noisy. The food was fenomenal. Really so tasty. We didn’t have to wait long for the food to arrive. The sweet potato with carbonara was my favorite. The waitresses were very friendly, pleasant, quick, polite and know well what you want and adapt to your needs. I recommend it. And would go there again. ☺️

We stumbled up this restaurant wandering the streets of Girona. The staff here is amazing. Speak perfect English. We had the salad and tuna tataki. Both amazing. The menu has a great variety of light and hardy food. I would eat here again. The restroom was probably the cleanest I’ve seen in my Spanish travels. I mean, why not mention this, right?!

Nestled in a prime location along the picturesque River Girona, The River Cafe is an inviting spot that draws visitors with its stunning views of iconic landmarks like the 'cul de la lleona' sculpture and the basilica of Sant Felix. With an impressive 90% of their menu being gluten-free, it’s a haven for those with dietary restrictions.
We stopped over for a beer earlier in the afternoon. We got some tapas (which were amazing) and were ready to set off on our way. Until, the lovely Carlota stepped on the scene. She greeted us with the warmest of welcomes and we had the absolute best conversations. The food was amazing, however the hospitality from all of the staff is enough for us to recommend this place to ANYONE and EVERYONE. Shoutout to my girl Carlota

The blonde women was quite rude, she didn’t try to communicate and had a very unpleasant attitude. She even gave me a completely different drink than I had ordered. The young man on the otherhand, he was kind a did speak English. Also tried to joke a little bit. Bar Restaurant La Terra is a popular spot in Girona, known for its bohemian decor and picturesque views of the river Onyar. The interior features mosaic floors, rustic furnishings, and sky blue walls, creating a cheerful atmosphere that attracts hip locals throughout the day and night. The venue offers cozy nooks and cushioned benches with sweeping views of the river and its bridges.
Delightful! Friendly staff with great , simple, authentic food...even for us vegetarians! Hummus, vegetarian quiche and tomato bread; good servings at a great price. A joy to find such a place. One of the few authentic places not ripping off tourists. Good food and drink at great prices. Decor was fun too. A relaxing place with chatty, happy locals around us. Wonderful views of the river. A joy to have visited.

We recently tried La Terra for a late lunch. The view is lovely. The decor of the place is dated yet kind of charming. The server was very nice and they did seem to be short staffed, maybe due to the holiday season. The burgers were fine, we didn’t love the chip crumbs as the side. The desert and coffee were rich and delicious.

Lovely place , the quiche tiny , the portions of what we ate were too small , the AC too strong , bit I loved the location and the tiles

After strolling the city walls and the Old Town Booth decided it was beer o'clock. Madge fancied a chocolate cake and a spinach quiche. Sadly the pastry was very soggy. Mary Berry would not approve. The chocolate and raspberry cake was a lot better. Enjoyed the San Miguel. Like the traditional interior. Good views over the river. Good music so stayed for a second beer as The Doors entertained me. ( In Girona why don't they play The Knack? Their 1979 hit!)
MADDOGLEP — Google review
I am not going to lie, I visited this place because a scene in the Korean drama "Memories of Alhambra " was filmed here, that said there were no traces of Hyun Bin or the filming... and it did not have the same bathroom as the dram. But that didn't make the visit less charming for a fangirl like me... The service, beer, sandwiches, and nuts were good, too.

La Simfonia is a charming restaurant located in the heart of Girona's Old Town, offering a delightful experience for wine and cheese enthusiasts. The small outdoor patio provides a picturesque setting to enjoy an expertly chosen selection of wines, ranging from local Emporda garnatxa to rare vintages like the 1929 Pedro Ximenez.
Better to book for the table because it is quite tiny. You can go and select the wine from the shop and then have a delicious food to accompany with. Always pleasant experience.

Made a reservation for Saturday night which was very easy. Chose to eat indoors as it was summer. Menu is limited but looked very interesting. A good list of wines available by the glass as well. Told them I had a gluten allergy and they made sure that the dishes i ordered were ok. They even produced a gluten free bread option for our sobrasada dish. For a decent size restaurant, service is a little slow but attentive. We ordered 3 dishes to share between 2 of us with an extra dessert recommended by the staff; along with a dessert wine that complimented it perfectly. If you can appreciate great and delicious food, and have no where to be urgently this is a great restaurant to dine in. Fresh food, a good choice of wines and but attentive service. A definite must try in Girona.

Was already planning to visit this restaurant a couple of days and finally managed to visit it the last day of my stay. And what a surprise. Excellent atmosphere, very friendly staff, price/quality very good and the interior!!! Really, if you do not want to go for the excellent grill, go and check all the details in the restaurant. You will be surprised. See the pictures I took. This place is full of surprises. Visited about 12 restaurants but only writing if it is really good or bad. This one is really good, alternative, rock music, you can be your own bartender etc. To conclude, full of surprises so just check it out. You will not be disappointed.

the unique selling point of this location, as "el doll", which made it possibly the best bar in girona, was the self service beer taps. they are still at the tables, but we are told they are now "only decorative". this is a huge shame and i would encourage the owner to put them back into service. otherwise this is now just another bar and we have no reason to come here instead of any other in the town.

Great shaded location. Sangria is on the weaker side. Very busy so you’ll have to just get lucky with a table. Service was okay and friendly enough.

Nice location on the way up to cathedral, with comfortable outdoor seating under shady trees. The food was good, but we had to wait one hour to eat. The problem didn't lay on the waiters, who came at once to take our order, but on the kitchen which needed such amount of time to prepare a hamburger and canneloni

Had a lovely lunch here in the sun. Was one of the better Caesar salads I’ve had. Sangria a bit weak but staff are lovely. I’ve marked it down because of the bloody pigeons which land on the tables and chairs trying to steal food. Not hygienic at all.

Tapas bar
Tucked behind an unassuming entrance, El Café may seem like a simple café at first glance, but it's much more than that. The Art Deco interior with deep scarlet walls, vintage artworks, and traditional wood furniture creates a charming setting for enjoying strong coffee and traditional tapas during the day. As night falls, the venue transforms into a lively spot offering perfectly poured beer and local wine.
Great, cosy tapas bar located in ‘old city’ Girona. Service was fantastic, all wines come with a very generous pour, and the food tasted fresh and delicious. You help yourself to the food, and then pay at the end by counting all the ‘sticks’ that were in the food you ate. Great range of tapas, highly recommend. Maybe not so great for large groups as it is small and they don’t take reservations, but for groups of four or less, El Cafe is a must visit when in Girona.

Great selection of local and regional wines at such a reasonable price. We were in Girona for 4 days and we visited 3 times, Alba and the team were very friendly, knowledgeable and the pinxos were great too!!

Fabulous place for an authentic Catalonian lunch. We chose from the variety of pintxos available, but there was another menu too. The waitress told us how it works - choose your pintxos: the larger sticks cost €4.75, the smaller sticks €4; and at the end, they charge you with how many sticks you have. All the pintxos we had were delicious, it's just a shame we didn't have room to try everyone.

If you're a fan of exploring lush green spaces, then the Jardins dels Alemanys in Girona is a must-visit. This garden is steeped in history and offers a tranquil retreat within the Old Town. The area was once home to German soldiers during the Peninsular War, and remnants of their barracks can still be seen. The Lightning Tower provides stunning panoramic views of Girona, making it a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts.

A small, quiet garden that's adjacent to the massive old walls of Girona (the walls being a must-visit). The garden's lower area has some benches and sections with maintained plants but as you go up it's less maintained with the ruins of an old "castle" of which there just seems to be fallen cement brick walls laying around. However, there's a bit of a view up there.

(Translated by Google) I put a 1 because you can't put a zero. Very bad service and worse education on the part of the waitress. Anti-Covid measures and any health measures are passed through the lining both inside and outside the premises. They don't even bother to disinfect the tables. Better not to mention the bathrooms (just the aside that I found a cockroach and it seemed like the paper was there by chance). The extraction hood that communicates with the dining room is off... I can't continue because it would last for hours. Anyway, I'm not one to give negative reviews, but there are some that have merit. (Original) Pongo un 1 pq no se puede poner un cero. CELTIC BAR GIRONA is a fantastic spot to enjoy live music and have conversations with friends in a relaxed atmosphere. On Thursdays, you can showcase your singing talent during karaoke night while sipping on a selection of quality beers. Although the bar offers a great ambiance and music, some patrons have noted that the barman may need improvement in pouring Guinness. Nonetheless, it's an ideal place for socializing and enjoying good tunes.
A perfect place where you can listen music (sometimes live music) and sit for speak with friends without problems. Problems? The barman doesn't know pouring a Guinness

'Where's the dinner?' That's the best way to define this place. Sadly. I came here two years ago and it really was a good place, it seems a completely different restaurant now. No attention to detail, bad service and my goodness... Only 2 main dishes have reached the table in TWO HOURS. We're a group of 15 and have been seated for 2 hours from 22PM to 12AM... And still have to eat. Also, the price... Pretty expensive. Really sad to see a good place go down the way it did. Update: 00:08 The waiter took a squid out of a friend's dish and let it over the table.... Unbelievable. Update 2: The owner assured us this is not how the restaurant works. They had a bad day, full of groups of people and ran out of most of the ingredients for their dishes. Also, both the staff and the owner apologized and 'gave' us the dinner for free plus two bottles of 'cava'. Some of the dishes that finally did get to the table where excellent, others were overcooked. We're all human so we make mistakes, all of us have 'bad days', so I'm sorry it has to be this way but this is the review for the time being.
O. R — Google review
Delicious food. Not strong support of English, although we found a waitress that did a great job of translating for us. Pretty busy on a Thursday night with a lot of locals.
Noel P — Google review
The experience depends on the day, mood of the waiter for example may affect your service, but the lovely little garden and terrace out back is a haven on Summer evenings with a glass of Cava in hand (that's 'cava' not 'Carver') - the 10 minute walk back to cool(ish) and quiet Gironalet Apartment is just what is needed for digestion (HQ for Happy Days!)
Liza — Google review
The place was lovely, but the food was expensive for its quality. Moreover, the service was unprofessional, we had to wait 30 minutes to pay the bill because our waiter was smoking instead of doing his job.
Carme S — Google review
Money for nothing I took dinner there in June 2014 and I'm not going to do it again. Too expensive, too few food and low quality products. Absolutely not recommended.

Stopped here for a beer. Nice selection of craft beers available. Seems to have a good focus on wine too. Music was decent too.
T C — Google review
This place looked beautiful from the outside and they had a nice enough menu. I got a wine and my friend got cava and it was reasonably priced. We ordered a small taster menu of cheese and meet to keep us going but it took ages to arrive and we had to move to the bar because the main tables were for substantial food orders. It was nice overall but I felt the service was not the best.
Andreea B — Google review
We were a bit of a regular while we were on holiday there and everyone was nice and the food was lovely but got spoilt on the last day when a member of staff told my girlfriend off for putting her feet on the stool. We were quite exhausted after walking round the city and we did put a t-shirt under so not to cause a mess. Not that there would be anyway. All this felt really strange as one of the bartender's looked proper scruffy with grubby trousers and a vest. Shame that our otherwise nice experience at this pub got spoilt by poor service.

With its cozy ambiance, dim lighting, and lively tunes, it's the perfect spot to unwind with friends. The menu boasts an impressive selection of cocktails ranging from classic martinis to unique creations like the Walking Dead—a delightful rum-based concoction. While there may be a slight wait for your drinks, rest assured that each sip is worth it; the quality and presentation are top-notch.
One of the best cocktail bars in Girona! They offer a varied and extense range of cocktails, from the all-time classics to the bartender’s own recipes. We tried the ‘Hat-trick’, a homemade drink with gin & amarena, as well as a ‘Walking Dead’; both were exquisitely presented and delicious. Staff friendly, and at a good price as well (9€/cocktail)
Agustí R — Google review
Slightly long wait for the drinks once ordered but the quality of cocktails were 100% worth it, and I'm pretty sure it was their second night of opening after lockdown at the time and I understand the rustiness so all is forgiven! The staff know their stuff and were very friendly. Cozy and classy vibes. I can recommend the Yucatan and the Walking Dead cocktails from my experience.

Lovely restaurant, tucked away in a small lane but well worth it when you find it. Fantastic tapas with a different twist to the usual tapas, great wine too. Really friendly & helpful staff. Highly recommend this restaurant with a great ambience.
Helen B — Google review
The food is good, done properly, but lacks an intense flavor, which drives you to order the same dish a second and third time or that forces you to remember that dish for two or three days (how it should be); there is a lot of education in food but also a lot of shyness in the flavors. Cute restaurant. Clean bathrooms. Excellent customer service.
Mirko — Google review
Had an amazing lunch here! It’s a little hard to find and at least on a quiet weekday in January seemed like it was closed. My favorite thing was the duck dumpling with poma pruna and it was so heavenly I ordered more. Also got canelo, txipironets, magret tximitxurri, espatlla xai ginebro poma, and the mother’s cheesecake. Marc was such a nice server and our entire lunch with wine was less than €40. Amazing value for a charming lunch.

The establishment is known for its great wine options, including local and natural varieties. Visitors have praised the delicious food, which includes mackerel rillettes, mussel rillettes, beef tongue, padron peppers, salad, and flavorful pigs ear.
A random find, simple place that packs a big punch. Staffed with just 2 people. 1 chef and 1 server,. But they managed to dish up fantastic food with reasonable wait times. That raw prawn and scallop ravioli was unreal
Ashwin N — Google review
Great atmosphere, perfect service! Food was a tasty experience. My favorite was Jerusalem artichoke skewer; my partner loved the mussels. Portions were rather small, so you probably should aim to order at least 5/6 plates to feel full - which was advised to us before ordering. I really appreciate that every dish was provided on a matching plate. The menu is not overwhelmingly long, but it varies enough to be greatly surprised with every dish; the flavors were all different and unique.

Top top top! Could it be that the best meal in Spain is cooked by just one woman chef and served by one guy/sommelier? This is out there. Amazing food. We ordered the whole menu. Every dish was a harmonious song. The natural wines were wonderful. Creative, interesting dishes and down to earth. Super friendly too. Just don’t change!
Oren S — Google review
Super cool spot with a great vibe and beautifully presented dishes. The place definitely nails the aesthetics. But when it comes to taste, it just didn’t live up to the visuals. Everything looked better than it tasted. Not bad, just very average. Worth a visit for the atmosphere, but don’t expect to be blown away by the food.
Barış G — Google review
Truly outstanding food, the flavours were excellent and the service was great. The people work very hard and the chef stayed incredibly calm and focussed and produced some incredible food. Standout dishes were scallops, tongue and pork belly. Outstanding food and great local wines, superb value for money given the quality of the food.
Billy B — Google review
Safo absolutely blew me away—every single bite was an explosion of flavour and creativity. Highlights? The broqueta de llengua de vedella brasa with pico de gallo (grilled beef tongue!), the stewed salt cod tripe with grilled maitake and blood orange— totally unexpected. Beef cheek with pickled mussels and bean + onion tacos, cod belly carpaccio with citrus and cod liver with peas and bread crumbs... what can I say, I loved every dish! Not so crazy, but seriously insane, the chocolate ganache with bread crumbs, olive oil, and salt. A quiet revelation. Add in natural wines and the warmth of the loveliest couple running the place, and Safo becomes more than just a meal—it’s a memory. I found myself back there more than once (okay, twice in a week). If you’re in Girona, just go to Safo. It’s magic.

Had the most amazing meal here yesterday! The food was incredible. Had the scallops, shish, quail, Pak choi, oyster mushrooms, mussels and a delicious panna cotta. Owner was lovely and his partner, the chef. All of the dishes were unbelievable. Best find! Couldn't recommend enough and we live in a very foodie place.

(Translated by Google) The convent of Sant Domènec de Girona, founded in 1253 by Bishop Berenguer de Castellbisbal and consecrated in 1339, is a monumental complex made up of two cloisters, the convent and a church in early Catalan Gothic style. The building, declared a cultural asset of national interest, is in the eastern part of the old city walled enclosure. The Sant Domènec convent, which is located in the Old Quarter of Girona, close to the medieval wall, is one of the most relevant models of the foundation of a mendicant order in Catalonia, since it has preserved its initial layout, despite the reforms it has undergone. The old convent buildings are occupied by the facilities of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Girona and the nave of the church functions as the Aula Magna of the same faculty.
