Castle
Château de l'Hermine is a historic site in Vannes, Brittany, with roots dating back to the 1300s. Initially built as a residence for the dukes of Brittany, it eventually fell into disrepair and was repurposed over the centuries. Today, it stands as a grand classical building along the rampart gardens. The chateau has housed various institutions throughout its history and is currently undergoing transformation into a modern space that will host the Museum of Fine Arts.

La Cohue - Musée des Beaux Arts de Vannes is a medieval hall that now serves as a museum of fine arts. It houses a collection of engravings and works by local artists. The building has a rich history, having been used as a marketplace, the Duke's courtrooms, and even the Breton Parliament in the late 17th century. The museum offers a generous exhibition space with ancient arches and an incredible atmosphere.
A small but interesting art museum/ gallery. Lots to absorb in a beautiful building with english translations available. Only open afternoons. Reasonable entry price. One toilet inside.

It serves as a majestic entrance into the walled city from the port of Vannes. The area surrounding Porte Saint Vincent offers lively bars and restaurants, making it an ideal spot for people-watching and enjoying the bustling atmosphere.

Liam D — Google review
Vannes is a beautiful old walled town and was a major port in the days of sail. Today it exists largely on tourism from both French and foreign tourists. It has a tgriving Saturday market which is large and well attended. What is strange is the city's recent decision to introduce parking charges over all areas anywhere near the old town and the market. This will surely be a disincentive to visit as a tourist or to visit the market.

(Translated by Google) “Classic” museum, which at times lacked explanations on certain objects. (We still have the choice of a guided tour). The curator in one of the rooms was rude and unsmiling (no hello, asked someone to remove the flash in a curt manner and without any form of politeness). The ticket can, however, allow you to visit another museum not far away.

The Cathédrale Saint-Pierre in Vannes is a remarkable Gothic cathedral with a Romanesque tower and a neo-Gothic facade. It stands on the remains of an ancient Romanesque cathedral and is actually a basilica, housing the relics of Saint Vincent Ferrier since 1419. The cathedral is a pilgrimage site on the Tro Breizh route, honoring the Seven Founding Saints of Brittany during the Middle Ages.
Sweet small cathedral in centre ville Vannes. Great tapestry around the tomb of St Vincent Ferrier and several beautiful stained glass windows of Jeanne d’Arc. Gorgeous pipe organ as well, would love to hear it played one day. Worth a visit if you’re in the area
Ben D — Google review
Beautiful old cathedrale! Part of it is under construction, close to the public, but most part of the cathedrale is available to be seen.
Carmen S — Google review
A lovely little cathedral with a very long history. A lot of work is being put into restoration and it is clearly a living parish church. There are helpful signs posted indicating useful and interesting facts, often in multiple languages. I enjoyed my visit.
Anne E — Google review
A very nice Cathedral in the middle of the beautiful Vannes. A nice quick visit will suffice.
Dr C — Google review
It feels that a lot of a efforts has been put into that cathedral, and it's still the case today (free guided visit, a lot of information/boards) It was sad that there was no holy water left. (Even with the special covid holy water dispenser) Besides that it wasn't a special looking cathedral. Nice temperature and calm inside.
Alexandre D — Google review
Wonderful town 15 min bike ride from Aire Camping carpark
Yvonne A — Google review
Beautiful little cathedral hidden away in the city centre holding the precious relics of the Fourth Angel of the Apocalypse - St Vincent Ferrer. A lot of footfall which can make prayer difficult but good to see so many people inside a church. Information on large posters is also in English so very helpful to follow along. Lots of renovation going on so a lot is not on display which is a shame if you've come from far away. The house where St Vincent lived is above a tourist souvenir shop just around the corner. But was closed by 2pm so we couldn't visit assuming visiting is even possible. The house is quite badly signposted and no info online which makes it a terrible loss for pilgrims. All in all worth a visit - St Vincent Ferrer welcomes you.
G J — Google review
The architecture is quite breathtaking considering its q3th century. Very little time used except on the great organ. The marble used for the statues must be worth a small fortune these days. Very serine place & remarkable cool temperature wise. Visit on a Sunday.

Port de Vannes is a historic port that has been in existence since the 11th century and has undergone redevelopment in recent years. The area around the port offers self-catering accommodations with views of the harbor or garden. Visitors can explore the charming city center with its historic buildings, shops, and cafes, as well as enjoy a leisurely walk along the marina.
We visited here after walking around the town centre. There's an underground car park that's reasonably priced, directly next to the marina. 2 bridges cross the river, enabling you to complete a flat, circular walk. A pavement runs the full length of the water inlet, so it's suitable for wheelchair users, prams, and bicycles. There are also plenty of benches along the route should you get weary. Several cafés are nearby for refreshments. A good place to visit.

While strolling through the charming streets of Vannes, one can come across the historic Prison Gate, also known as Porte Prison. This ancient granite gate, dating back to the 13th century, was originally named Saint-Patern Gate. Its close proximity to the neighborhood of the same name gives insight into its origins. Creative and delicous menu without the expensive price tag! They specialise in seafood; we enjoyed both our seafood entrees and mains. Food is beautifully presented; staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient. The only thing I didn't like were a few flies buzzing around, but I guess that comes naturally when the door opens/closes. Overall, great experience!

Very nice ambiance and the staff was lovely. The fish was fresh and the portions were ok. We got a good table, close to the window, and were able to see the port, which looks lovely in the evening.
Madalina — Google review
Great food, super friendly and welcoming staff, reasonable prices: what's more to wish for? We enjoyed a great dinner in the midst of August. Although the restaurant was packed the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. The variations of the menu are interesting to discover!
Jan D — Google review
Visited with my son and ordered from the €26 menu, which was a bit limited. We both had duck pancakes to start, which were very nice and served in a bowl with salad. For the main we had the lamb, which came with roast new potatoes and salad. The gravy was a bit salty and the lamb could have been bigger. However, the lamb was tender and very good. The biggest disappointment was the 'tiramisu' which had: No coffee No alcohol No sponge It was basically all cream with some caramel sauce and some chopped nuts. It was definitely not tiramisu and I felt like it was a bit dishonest calling it that. The service was quick and polite. Given the poor quality restaurants we've visited so far, this one is by far the best.

We stayed at this small luxury hotel for two nights and found it to be both peaceful and perfectly located in the heart of Vannes’ old town. While direct car access to the hotel isn’t possible, there are several nearby parking options. As for the hotel itself, it was flawless, with an exceptionally dedicated staff. I highly recommend it for a relaxing and well-situated stay.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this charming hotel in France! From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed. The owners are truly delightful – friendly, caring, and always ready with a smile. They clearly put their hearts into making guests feel at home. The hotel itself is spotless, with great attention to detail in cleanliness and comfort. Our room was spacious, bright, and very comfortable – perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The location couldn’t be better – everything we wanted to see was just a short walk away, yet the area was peaceful and quiet at night. Breakfast was a simple French-style, fresh and delicious! We left feeling completely happy and already looking forward to returning. Highly recommended!

Food was amazing and very well presented. Very friendly staff, but the service was very slow (only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars!). We had 2 kids who were very warm, thirsty, and hungry, and yet it was the adults food that arrived first with a good 5-6min wait for the kids food after. The bill then took another 20mins to arrive after being requested. They were very busy, but still, to have just 2 staff waiting on covering 25-30 tables each just wasn't enough. We would, however return here when back in Vannes as the menu options and location were great!

This Restaurant is awsome! I just wanted to have an relaxed evening by myself and wanted to eat some good french food and have some wine. I was not expecting to get an experience this nice,my waitress was so nice she didn’t stop smiling and gave me every wish that i had . The Owner of the Restaurant is a really good man ,you just walk into the Restaurant and you see how much work and hearth he put in his Local. I got such great food ,my entré,my main dish and my dessert where sooo good ! One of the best restaurants we dined in in Vannes. Beautiful, interesting, friendly and delicious! Highly recommended!
Linda L — Google review
Place looks beautiful. Sadly we were not allowed to dine there, presumably because we are English. We were turned away with a claim that they were ‘fully booked’ although only one table was seated and a reserved sign on just 1 more table. We have been sat outside for 1 hour at a nearby bar and no other customers have entered the building.
Nicci P — Google review
What a lovely place! Good atmosphere, you can see that they’ve spend a lot of time and effort in decorating the place. The food was amazing as well: lovely French cuisine with fresh ingredients. And most of all: an amazing welcome and service by the chef. Really a must-go!

Had the menu of the day here for lunch (26 euros). Highly recommend it. Fish was perfectly cooked and has nice complimentary sauce and veggies that balanced perfectly. First plate and dessert delicious as well. Great value for quality. Will come back to try their extensive menus, which are more expensive but it looks worth it.

Rozili is a charming bistro located in Vannes near the Parc du Golfe, offering a rustic-chic dining experience with picturesque views of the Gulf of Morbihan. The restaurant's modern interior features a sleek design with a color scheme of white, grey, and red. It is popular among locals for its daily-changing menu that showcases fresh market ingredients and allows the chef to showcase creativity.
A delicious meal - perfect in every way.

The restaurant serves 'nouvelle cuisine' type menus which are largely based around locally caught fish, but other choices are available. The service is most attentive and the waiters were welcoming and charming, both to us and our Golden Retriever. They were also enthusiastic about the food and wine being served. It was a hot day (30C), so it was pleasant to sit outside on the terrace in the shade of large umbrellas.
Louise S — Google review
We ate here today (9th August), table reserved previously. To be honest, I did not expect too much. Beside our campsite, a long way from the centre of town. Verdict: EXCELLENT. Two excellent amuses bouche, lovely local beer, tasty garlic-loaded palourdes, Ling risotto and sea bass. Go!! The food is great, the staff fantastic... and if you're in Camping Le Conleau... downhill all the way back. When we come back, we'll eat here again, for sure!!🇮🇪

Waiters were a bit over the top. We were seated on the terrace but must have been close to the bins since the odour was a bit unpleasant. Food and its presentation was very good.
