We came here at 1pm on a Wednesday in early Aug 2025. We sat alongside of the entrance to enjoy the beautiful weather and hustle and bustle of the wharf. Our waitress was great. She was prompt. Drinks were quick to arrive and stay topped off. We wanted a snack and not lunch, so oysters and heirloom tomato with burrata salad was just enough. Everything was so fresh. The chefs choice oysters were buttery and delicious, and the salad, bright, sweet, and the perfect partner to a beautiful summer day. Can’t wait to return!

The service here was not the best, the waitress couldn’t give me descriptions of ANY of their oysters, I was pretty disappointed, however I still ordered an assortment of oysters as an appetizer and then the lobster roll has my meal. Overall the food was pretty good. Luckily my friend and I had the pleasure of sitting right next to the water! Don’t know that I would recommend this place to anyone but glad I walked in & gave it a try!

5 stars all around! This place is delicious! Off-season, Wednesday night October, and it was packed. Despite the crowd, our server was attentive and helpful. Highly recommended daily oyster selection and the clam chowder. I enjoyed the featured halibut…. Not sure how often that makes the menu, but if you see it, try it! And save room for the snowball from hell. It’s worth it! Met the GM who graciously gave us a tour and treated us like celebrities. I wish we had more time here… I’d eat here everyday!

While we were walking around the harbor in Newport, we wanted to grab a drink. When we walked by, it looked like a nice and fun place. We asked if we could sit at the bar and we were able to find two seats. There were locals and visitors alike, and we could tell we found a gem. Kevin the bartender was friendly, attentive, and made great drinks! When he left his shift, Shawn took over and made sure to keep our water glasses full. We’re so glad we stopped by that afternoon!

We came here after seeing the funny video of the assistant AG getting arrested for trespassing lol. We absolutely loved it here. The service was comfortable and not overbearing but right on time. The food was delicious! Also, every course came at the perfect time. The view of the harbor is beautiful. There’s a nautical old money feeling with surprisingly nice prices, especially for the best dinner in newport. Ultimately a great experience with no complaints. Hopefully next time we get to witness an AG be arrested.

Some of the best food we've ever tasted - the truffle appetizer was a once-in-a-lifetime delight. The lemon, honey and vanilla sauce with the asparagus appetizer was so good that we used our bread to get all of it. The duck breast and the swordfish entrees were beyond our expectation with innovative and delicious accompaniments. Dining on the third level is a once a year treat for us.

One of the best restaurants in the US. Great views. The food is delicious. Try the King Salmon, its perfectly cooked. Enjoy some excellent oysters from the region. The sushi is not bad so if you are in the mood for it, give it a try. The staff was great and knew how the chef recommends his food to be prepared. I recommend this place. So make reservations and enjoy.

I visited Marble House right after touring The Breakers, and I have to admit that it was a bit overwhelming to take in two such incredible mansions in one day. However, Marble House is absolutely worth seeing on its own, as the interiors are stunning. One of my favorite parts of the visit was the Chinese Tea House on the grounds, which serves as a café. It’s a perfect spot to relax with tea or a snack after exploring the mansion. If you’re visiting Newport, I highly recommend including Marble House in your itinerary. It pairs nicely with The Breakers, while also featuring its own unique character and charm that make it stand out.

Marble House – Newport, RI Visiting Marble House was an absolutely amazing experience! The mansion is breathtaking inside and out — a true glimpse into the Gilded Age with its stunning architecture, opulent interiors, and rich history. My husband and I really enjoyed walking through each room, taking in the detail, and imagining what life must have been like during that era. The grounds are just as beautiful, with peaceful spots to sit and admire the view. The tour was well-organized, informative, and allowed us to move at our own pace, which made the experience even more enjoyable. It’s definitely a must-see when in Newport, and we left feeling like we’d stepped back in time. Highly recommend to anyone who appreciates history, design, and a truly unique cultural experience.

Exploring Marble House in Newport feels like entering a storybook from a previous era. The glittering marble, the intricate design work, and the majestic halls all speak of an era defined by opulence and ambition. Inspired by the grand palaces of Europe, yet rooted in its own American history, the mansion tells the tale of a family whose wealth and vision helped shape Newport’s legacy. Beyond the lavish interiors, the grounds themselves are a treasure—beautifully landscaped, spacious, and inviting for a leisurely stroll. I only wish I had more time to wander both inside and outside, soaking in the beauty and atmosphere of this remarkable place.

Lovely stop. Walking through this beautiful house was breathtaking and eye opening. Lots to see and enjoy. Marble tubs for both salt and fresh water is a over the top crazy indulgence in life. Happy to see they also did good in the World with their money and not just have everything to them selves. Enjoy the tour but hope you enjoy what you have too and not envy all their riches.

The mansion is remarkable. The size and decoration is superb. I can feel related to history as this mansion reminded me of the movie ‘downtown abbey’ - if you visit the area, I would recommend to go and spend some time there.

I wasn’t particularly excited about going here but I have to admit, it’s a pretty spectacular site. Amazing architecture, materials, construction, and attention to detail. I’d recommend checking it out.

Unbelievable marble interiors, $7 million to be exact! Enjoyed learning the history of the home and exploring the grounds and tea house.

We visited here from out of state with high expectations. Every single one of them was exceeded. Good wine selection and great service. Make sure you make a reservation! The dress code is clearly unenforced but perhaps it varies depending on different times of the night or who is hosting. My preference is just to commit to one of them, either drop the dress code or enforce it. Include a note with the reservation, & put up a sign outside so it is harder to claim ignorance regarding the website info. The field greens had an exquisite minty + turmeric taste with candied nuts and it was a perfect appetizer! The lobster ravioli and lobster bisque are similar so make sure you want them both if ordering both. The duck legs were crispy on the outside and they were so good! Would recommend going early so you can park in their free parking lot, I’m sure it gets full. One of the dining rooms is upstairs so be sure to request what you need in advance.

Excellent restaurant which is also the oldest tavern in America. Lot of history, beautiful stories and architecture. Really nice old woody feel. Lovely service and staff who are friendly. Highly recommend you book in advance guys it gets full fast. We have been three times on three different trips. The food is nice but not overwhelmingly good. The best dishes were the Brussels sprouts aide dish- must have! Also the dessert mousse was amazing!! The duck chicken and steak were 7/10.

I will just say - when George Washington walked into this tavern, it was already 100 years old! If that isn’t enough to pique your curiosity and your desire to visit this iconic restaurant, then let me tempt you further. The wine selection is impressive; the food (don’t miss the Beef Wellington) is delicious; and the service is impeccable!. Still not convinced? The staff is welcoming and gracious - and the bartender pours the perfect Rusty Nail! Still need more? Our reservations kept changing (our fault - NOT theirs) - but Bill and Ryan were superb and accommodating. We were celebrating a birthday - and the owners of the Golden Steer Las Vegas were in our party (no pressure 🙃). It could not have been a more exciting or grander memory! If you have not dined at the White Horse Tavern, then it’s high time you did. You will not be disappointed - and who knows? … you may just walk in George’s exact footsteps!

Full moon on a Friday and lucky me there was a table near the bar. Beef Wellington was superb, see pics and the wine was outstanding. Great hostess and bartender. Efficient, friendly and scrumptious. So glad I made the walk from my air bnb! Thank you for graciously welcoming me from Nashville!

The food was delicious! We ordered the lobster ravioli, scallops, oysters, and lobster soup. The portions were generous and everything tasted great. The ravioli were especially amazing, served with a rich sauce that included extra lobster and shrimp. My mother-in-law loved the Nespresso martini with Baileys, which we highly recommend as well.

We thoroughly enjoyed our food! Our waiter was also very kind and took good care of us. I really like the atmosphere of the old tavern.

The house/restaurant is super cute. It’s white table, but doesn’t need to be. The food and service do not match the vibe. The scotch egg was delish. The clam chowder was simple but lacked salt and pepper. I had a chicken dish that was rather bland. The veggie plate was nothing to write home about. Very simple and basic. Our waitress was not attentive. She told us the specials and walked away—we were ready to order by that time. She was covering at least 5 tables. Again, doesn’t match the fine(r) dining vibe. We had to ask the food runner for more to drinks because it was completely out. I would not recommend this place.

We hosted our welcome drinks the night before our wedding at One Pelham East, and it was hands down one of the best decisions we made. From the very beginning, Abby and Zack were incredibly easy to work with, making the entire planning process smooth and stress-free. Zack was there the night of the event and went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I were taken care of, constantly checking in and making sure we had everything we needed. The staff did a fantastic job ensuring that only our guests had access to the private space we rented, which made it feel truly special. The setup was absolutely perfect, the food was phenomenal, and the bartenders were amazing—especially given the size of our party. All of our guests had an absolute blast. We would HIGHLY recommend One Pelham East for welcome drinks or any pre / post wedding celebration!

Absolutely the BEST bar in Newport! The atmosphere is always welcoming, and the staff go above and beyond to make everyone feel like a regular. There’s something fun happening every night, from themed events to live music — but karaoke night is my personal favorite. I never miss it! If you're looking for great drinks, good vibes, and an unforgettable night out, this is the place to be!!

We had our sons wedding rehearsal luncheon and the staff were exceptional. I had contacted them months in advance and Abby was so helpful with everything I needed and responded quickly to emails. I'm only taking 1 star away because the welcome signs I paid for were not out when we got there and I was very disappointed in that, but that is the only thing that was disappointing. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely go back there again.

10/25 - Last night of our NE bus trip so we had to close it out with drinks on the town. Heard live music across the street so off to Pelham's we went. A younger crowd that greated us 'old folks' inviting us to play games & conversation. Drink prices were typical for the area, service was great, a fun place to spend the evening.

Amazing club for dance. We went to enjoy Newport nightlife & we definitely didn't miss any part of it. Only issue: We found no food options

Abby Medeiros and her team did another fantastic job making sure our casual work gathering went off without a hitch. The location was perfect, creating just the right vibe for relaxed networking and great conversations. Plus, the food was a big hit with everyone—delicious and just what we needed to keep the energy up. Huge thanks to Abby and the team for making it such a smooth and enjoyable event!

Nice music and decent dancing. It's overpriced- we paid a cover for two different floors so it was 25 dollars just for cover and 4 drinks were 70 dollars FYI.

An impressive summer mansion with beautiful surroundings. The interiors are grand, but what I enjoyed most was the area around it. You can walk around, explore, and even do a small hike along the shore near the property. A lovely spot to experience both history and scenic views.

Gorgeous mansion for visiting! We bought the tickets online before the visit, arrived late but they allowed us to get in anyway. Remember to download the app per the instructions posted there and bring your own headphones/earbuds so that you can listen to the descriptions and interesting stories as you step into each room. I was mesmerized by the decorative details. The place is perfect for visiting in the fall when the weather is cooler. You could sit in the back yard enjoying the vast sky and sea and grass field. It was a delightful experience!

Be sure you bring your headphones and get the Newport Mansions app so you can listen to the tour while you visit. This mansion is an awesome place to visit and learn some of the history of some of the Rockefeller family during the gilded age. The craftsmanship is spectacular and a bit over the top, but it really is an amazing place to witness. Highly recommend a visit!! As an added note, we visited during a day in port off the cruise ship. It's definitely an easy self guided excursion you can do, just a couple miles of the port. We saved a lot of money, saw multiple properties, did the tour on our own timeframe. It's an easy Uber ride or a nice walk to the property from the ship!

Went on a Sunday at 9am, walked from the port from my cruise, really enjoyed the walk. The Breakers was beautiful in October. Nice cool breeze from the ocean outside. The Breakers showed a lot of rooms on display. The gift shop had a little bit for everyone with decent prices as well. Took me about two hours by myself to walk through the self guided audio tour, visit the shop, and walk around outside. I did not try the cafe. There was one restroom by the front ticketing area.

Hands down the most beautiful Mansion in Newport. Inside and out it is truly stunning!! 🤩 You must visit it if you’re in Newport. Would recommend becoming a member of the preservation society for easier and cheaper access to all the Mansions in Newport.

Newport is a happy place for my wife and I. Brick Alley is a must-visit restaurant when in town. This trip we were a party of four. Absolutely enthralling decor and always excellent service. I put a picture of all that was ordered although I can not name them all. I had the salmon which was delicious but looked a little lonely as served. If there was any shortcoming at all I would say that the menu is a bit limited. Take a look 👀 online and make sure that they have what you like. If you do visit I am sure that you will enjoy the experience. Your mileage may vary.

Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant in Newport, RI is a lively and welcoming spot that blends classic charm with a fun, casual vibe. Located on Thames Street, it’s perfect for families, date nights, or just grabbing a drink with friends. The menu is huge think award winning burgers, fresh seafood, pastas, and even a lobster roll voted one of the best in America. Inside, the decor is packed with antiques, sports memorabilia, and even an old Chevy truck, giving it a nostalgic feel. The staff are friendly, the portions are generous, and the energy is always upbeat. It’s a true Newport favorite.

We stumbled upon The Brick Alley Pub thanks to a great recommendation from our trolley driver, Rob—and what a find! This place is bursting with eclectic charm, packed with fun antique memorabilia on every wall. It’s like walking into a cozy museum-meets-pub—there’s something to admire in every corner. The bar area is separated so perfect if you have small Kids too! Despite being pressed for time (we had a return water taxi scheduled for our cruise), our server was incredibly accommodating. We let her know we had only an hour, and she made sure everything was smooth and efficient without making us feel rushed. We started with their famous beef nachos, which were absolutely delicious—layers of crispy chips, melted cheese, and perfectly seasoned beef. My friends opted for the all-you-can-eat salad bar, which was impressively stocked with a huge variety of fresh toppings, dressings, and sides. A true salad-lover’s dream! I ordered their award-winning Lobster Salad Sandwich, served cold as recommended. It did not disappoint—light, flavorful, and loaded with fresh lobster meat. It came with classic coleslaw and a side of sweet potato fries, which were perfectly crispy and just the right amount of sweet. Before heading out, we also grabbed a few tee-shirts for our husbands—a fun way to support local businesses and take home something memorable. Little souvenirs like that always make vacations last just a bit longer when you’re back home. If you’re in Newport and looking for a spot that’s full of personality, local flavor, fantastic bar area and great food, I highly recommend stopping in at The Brick Alley Pub. It’s now one of my favorite hidden gems from the trip!

Don’t let the ugly yellow awning fool you, this place is a must-visit! Portions are huge and food is delicious. Whether it be nachos, fried mozzarella, turkey club, fish and chips or a burger, you can’t go wrong! There is something for everyone. Service is also great, never have to flag down wait staff for refills, etc. I recommend making a reservation - Thames St. is a very busy area and there is usually a wait.

When it was our turn to have a break for lunch from our tour, we decided to stop by and try them out. It sure did not disappoint and it is one of the bigger restaurants in historic Newport. We were seated almost right away and our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered food and it arrived pretty fast. We got the cheeseburger and the smoked turkey club, both delish, fresh and tasty. A good option in historic Newport.

The lobster Mac. And cheese was creamy, and packed with lobster. The bisque was velvety and flavorful, and the clams were spot on. This place knows seafood! Be warned: the line gets long on weekends, so definitely book ahead. Totally worth it

Went for dinner. They are on the wharf and have outdoor seating facing the boats. The drinks are expensive, $17-$20 each. The menu is very limited for vegetarian dishes, they had one entree. The shrimp scampi and salmon were good. The server was busy with other tables, so I had to get up and ask for grated cheese which arrived promptly. The portions are smaller than expected. The bar area had a good band and was packed. Overall, it is a good place for music and drinks.

I cannot rave enough about how good of an experience I had here. The food was awesome and the service was superb. We ordered the mussels they made our jaws DROP. So delicious. Our entrees were also just as amazing. Eat here!

We have eaten here many times before as we come yearly to Newport for 4th of July. However this year was very disappointing. The size of the sandwiches for lunch was miniscule and the quality of the food not so great. There was no good place for the wings and the sangria is definitely not homemade. We will probably not come here for lunch again next year

Great location! Nice bartender! Fun atmosphere! Food was mediocre. Coconut fish bites were mushy and too spiced. Looked like they dumped hot sauce on them:( stuffed quahog had very little quahog. I am disappointed. Was here with my best friend so it was still a good time!

We went on 4th of July and again on Saturday, no wait both days! Food is great, the Jonathan’s crab with seaweed salad was the family favorite and order twice! That is a citrus clean dish! Perfect for hot days! Service was fast and friendly, great atmosphere.

Sat one table from the stage, listened to a great singer/guitarist cover all the classic rock and country tunes with perfection. Place gives off a complete beach, party vibe. We enjoyed some icy-cold tropical adult beverages (all of them perfect). Ordered some oysters on the half-shell, tuna tartare, and clams casino. All three served super fresh, a briny mix of perfection, super light and super flavorful. The waitress, friendly and attentive, unobtrusive but always there exactly when needed. Just a perfect dockside experience with my wife!

Food was mediocre at best. The appetizer said Jonah crab but me and my husband both agreed they used Jonah’s cousin pollack (imitation crab) for the $16 dollar app. Also got a lobster roll which lobster was overcooked and the rolls seemed like they were grilled hrs before instead of grilled made to order. There are many other options than this place around. Too bad the quality isn’t there as they have one of the best spots in Newport on the plus side our waitress liv was very friendly and fast with service. The thing we both found odd and unprofessional was there were like 4 girls at the hostess stand on their phones the whole time laughing amongst each-other. I get sometimes there is downtime and you talk to your coworkers at times and have conversations but seemed the whole time they were hanging I was thinking why are yall there maybe you should take note from our waitress liv and do some work as she was running around and maybe help her or one of the other waitresses instead of lounging around. Liv deserves a raise with all the nonsense of this restaurant is my final thought on this place.

Real Tennis World in Newport — one visit is never enough! Everything about this place is amazing. It’s such a grand and historic spot that makes you feel like you’re traveling back in time. The staff at the museum are the sweetest, especially Liz, who can share so much information about the history of tennis. It was an unforgettable experience that I will always cherish.

Museum was very nice. Presentation of archived equipment and autographed clothes and racquets was nicely done. Even the arrangement of topics and themes was very good. Video selection at the end of the tour was plentiful and highly interesting to watch. Tennis afficionados will spend a good amount of time here enjoying the artifacts, both old and new.

I enjoyed it and I am not a tennis fan. However... First, beware of parking! There is a large gated pay lot across the street attached to a strip mall of stores. My party stayed 1.5 hours and the parking was $24!!! MAKE sure you go to one of the list of stores in that mall to get your ticket validated or you may suffer the same fate. There is absolutely zero street parking available since the museum is on a busy commercial road. I found the pricing on par with many similar spaces with a few caveats. There was a cash price and a credit price. THEN there was an ADDITIONAL SERVICE FEE regardless of how you paid or if you were a senior or not. What's that for? Tariffs? The young man who took my folding money did not have a clue either. If EVERYONE HAS TO PAY IT, no matter how old you are or how you pay, just include it in the price. This is off-putting and messy. The museum is housed in the old and beautiful Rhode Island Casino. Spectacular is the word that comes to mind. Clean, spacious, and well-curated. There is something for everyone. If you like stats, interactive kiosks, or memorabilia you will find it here. Note that there are 2 gift shops. Everyone on the staff that we spoke to was pleasant and informative. Sorry for the sparse pictures. I did not know that Google was going to ask for a review. I usually do restaurants. Your mileage may vary.

Great place for tennis enthusiasts to learn the history of the sport throughout the years. People also play court tennis here. They have a cool shop to buy tennis gear and merchandise. The people at the reception are so much fun.

The museum is small but it is pretty well maintained. Not a lot of artifacts but it is a good walk through it. It was a rainy day when we visited hence there’s no tennis match nor practice.

This is a must if you are in Newport, even if you are not a tennis fan. The museum and exhibits are great. And the grounds are fun to walk around. Great gift shop as well.

This was a fun thing to go see! The museum has a lot of very cool history, interactive components and lots of trophies. The tennis courts are beautifully landscaped.

I like most of the bands they have, and the drinks aren't bad. However, I heard one of the bartenders making a demeaning comment about my sexual orientation. The only time it has ever happened in this town.

I attended Newport Blues for my birthday on 06/27 (yesterday), its a favorite for my friends and I. Upon entering the establishment I ordered my first drink at the small bar close to the entrance, its convenient and easy to get a drink when everyone first gets there. My party of 8 all ordered our drinks, I was last, and the bartender served my first drink of the night. The problem is at that moment I got distracted by one of my friends talking, after I grabbed my drink, I didn’t walk away or anything, I just thought my friend had already paid. Still staying next to the bar, I felt something whip my face. I looked over and it was the bartender that threw a lime at my face with a decent amount of force, I didn’t think much of it, I thought she was just trying to get my attention which she definitely did. It was a very honest mistake that I hadn’t paid for the last drink. I set my drink down and pulled out my wallet immediately, but the bartender grabbed my drink that I hadn’t even taken a sip out of yet, threw it across the way into the trash and yelled at me to get out multiple times. Not a single person worked that corner bar for the rest of the night and I’m taking this time to say that was extremely rude, unprofessional, humiliating and outright disrespectful. It was my first drink for my birthday celebration with my closest friends at a place we really enjoy. I really do like this place but that should not be the protocol for employees in this place of business, I’m very disappointed. The entertainment is great, but if you ever feel like being assaulted for ordering a drink by some moody bartender, the entertainment and medium priced drinks are no longer worth your time. 2 Stars is generous.

I bought tickets to a wrestling event and after driving all the way to newport me and my friend find it's canceled. No email no notifications, nothing. I've been trying to call for 3 days to get into contact with anyone. No one returns my calls or emails. I will be actively telling people Not to deal with the newport blues cafe. A bunch of scam artists.

Awesome venue, extremely friendly staff, reasonably priced drinks, and AMAZING entertainment. I went the day that the mask ban was lifted and had a crazy good time.

Fantastic place! Great vibe, delicious drinks :-) Emily was amazing!

We had reservations for dinner for 8pm but my husband called to see if they can get us in earlier. They accommodated us at 6:15pm even though they were completely booked. We were seated on the covered deck, however the view of the Marina was covered with thick, clear plastic which they could not open up. This not only obstructed our beautiful view but also prevented the circulation of air. It did get a little stuffy. Some other guests were not thrilled about this and decided to sit indoors. Other than that, our experience at this place was excellent. The drinks were refreshing and the food was delicious. Our server Jennifer was friendly & attentive. We were treated with a free dessert and a card signed by the employees for our anniversary.

Had a great lunch here while in Newport for the day. Warm Lobster Roll was fantastic. Not that i am an expert in Lobster Rolls, but can not imagine having it any other way. Although I know some of you do. Scallop chowder was good, but to me the base made it something i could not take a lot of. My wife like it over the clam chowder, and i preferred the clam. Worked out perfectly. Madisyn was great and attentive and our seats inside over looking the water provided a wonderful atmosphere.

We had a great dinner at The Mooring! The food was excellent all around. The shrimp ceviche was fresh and flavorful with just the right amount of heat, and the fish & chips were perfectly crispy with great fries. The chicken was juicy, with a bright chimichurri and creamy garlic mashed potatoes that really stood out. Our server Sharon was friendly and professional, though she tended to linger a bit long at the table. Overall, a really good experience and we’d definitely go back.

I was so excited to dine here Saturday for lunch. The food looked amazing on social media & my experience was just as great as it looked online. The seafood was delicious and fresh. The out door seating was beautiful and peaceful. When booking the reservation, I did request in the comments to be sat outside so I really appreciated that they honored that request. Our waitress Maddy was a doll. Super down to earth & consistently checked in on us. Everything was great!

Absolutely incredible experience! We arrived on our first night here to Newport, and everyone recommended dinner at The Mooring. We had reservations for a table, but we ended up having so much fun at the bar with bartenders Nick and Matt (and patron Jim) that we decided to hang with them for the evening. From Nick’s perfect cocktails (salted caramel espresso martini and of course a classic dirty) to Matt recommending local stops to see in town on our stay, we had a great experience - not like some highfalutin place that misses out on an authentic experience. Had dinner here with my wife over weekend. Food was very good, the chowder was super solid. Shrimp cocktail was good portion, super fresh. Lobster roll and fries was good, not great. No need for lettuce on a lobster roll. Second best lobster roll we had while visiting. Nice ambiance, good views. Service was good. Would go again.

We had a fantastic experience here! Beautiful food, amazing service, and super delicious food. We came for the lobster rolls and were blown away by them, but we left actually being number one fans of their honey biscuit. Hahaha you HAVE to get the biscuit, it’s the greatest thing ever. Our server Candace was SO sweet, attentive, and lovely - she made our meal extra special!

Me and my friends got a table by walking up, had to wait an hour, go sat inside which is very small. We waited quite a long time for our food and for the bill which really irritates me. I ordered a raspberry mojito and that was terrible, one of the worst I've had, thank god the food was good. Overall the clam chowder is a thin brothered one which I don't really enjoy but there were a lot of clams which made it better. I also got the cod over rice which was surprisingly really good.

We chose The Black Pearl because of its great Google reviews, without realizing how iconic it actually is in Newport. Their clam chowder is truly outstanding—later I found out it’s even sold canned in local shops, which makes total sense because it’s that good. The oysters were excellent as well. The lobster roll, on the other hand, didn’t really convince me. It was served in a croissant instead of the classic hot dog–style bun I’m used to from Boston. Maybe it’s a local twist, but I personally didn’t love it. Prices seemed fair overall. What I didn’t quite get was why they served my wine in a plastic cup on the outdoor terrace. We weren’t at a pool, and we weren’t so close to the water that it would’ve been necessary. The atmosphere is extremely busy, especially at dinner time. The day I went was very hot, and since the terrace is open-air, there’s not much they can do with cooling. If you don’t like crowded places, I’d recommend visiting at a different time or day. Overall, it’s a place worth visiting at least once if you’ve never been to Newport. I would go back, but definitely at a less crowded time.

Stopped by for a quick drink and bite. we sat at the outside patio bar. I had the Pretzel with a Guinness while she had the chicken salad with an Aperol, followed by a shared frozen Mudslide per the suggestion of a local. Service was awesome, the drinks were on point and the food was excellent.

Stopped at the Pearl on the 4th for lunch and place was packed as usual. We got lucky and we're able to get seated rather quickly. We wanted to eat outside as always ate inside. Atmosphere much better outside. We both had lobster sandwiches and fries. Disappointed in what you received for $36 each. As picture shows you can't even see the lobster, takes the excitement away 😧.Service was fair as waitress only came by once after we received our dishes but she was pleasant. This is the first time I wasn't impressed as this is one of my favorite restaurants in Newport. We will still keep stopping here but will pass on the lobster in the future. Still feel Lindy's Tavern is best place in Rhode Island for a nice colossal roll 😋😋😋

Have been here several times before. The atmosphere and food are always very good. Their clam chowder really is award winning. On this visit we just got apps because we needed to get to a show. Had the crab cakes and shrimp with grits, both delicious. Only complaint was the Mojito was not good at all. Prices are average for Newport. It’s very popular in the summer so you will probably have to wait for outdoor and indoor seating.

Great food, service and atmosphere! Went for drinks at night and then back for dinner the following day, both nights were great! Clam chowder is one of the best I’ve ever had. The frozen dark and stormy is delicious. Highly recommend!

The food was delicious. We all enjoyed what we ate, but the service could have been better. If only the server smiled and was a bit more attentive. She couldn't care less. The room was not crowded. We had a better time at some of the other places.

Really enjoyed the coastal breeze around the fort. Entry to the fort is $16/adult if you prefer a self guided tour. You can use the brochure they give you and can also download the app to get significant historical info about the fort. As a history buff myself, I thoroughly enjoyed this experience visiting the fort. Enjoyed walking in the tunnels and a lot of room for imagining those military scenes of soldiers fighting to defend the fort.

Fort Adams State Park is a perfect blend of sweeping coastal views and rich American history. The massive granite fort is fascinating to tour, and the surrounding lawns are ideal for picnics, kite flying, and lazy afternoons by the water. You get postcard-worthy vistas of Newport Harbor, sailboats gliding by, and unforgettable sunsets. Parking is easy, restrooms are clean, and there’s plenty of space to spread out—even on busy weekends. Whether you’re here for a quiet stroll, a family day, or one of the big music festivals, this park delivers every time.

Take the private golf cart tour. Mike was our tour guide & did a terrific job. The fort & surrounding area has a very unique history. It was a great way to start our vacation. 🪖🇺🇸

Take the guided tour! Wow. We took the 330pm tour and had Tony as our tour guide. It was so worth it. Tony was funny, knowledgeable, engaging, and entertaining! My son and I lead ghost tours in the OBX and we love taking tours when we travel. Tony was by far one of the best guides we have had. The guided tour was great cause you get to go into the buildings, up on the casements and Into the tunnels!!! And you get all the history and insider knowledge. 15/10 recommend.

You can feel the history here. The revolution! I've been inside the fort on Halloween and you can imagine firing cannons at British ships. This Memorial Day, to honor our troops, they had boots on the ground for fallen soldiers. Very moving! The wall of the fort has been off limits for years but was open this day and was even better than down below, in the tunnels. This is also the home of the Newport Jazz and Folk festival every summer which I highly recommend!

Fort Adams is a great place to spend a few hours connecting with history and nature. There is a large walking area, great views, tours, and other stunning sights. They just had a sobering display of Boots on the Ground for Memorial Day.

Experienced Fort Adams during this years Newport Jazz Fest. It was my first time in. R.I. and as a visitor to Ft. Adams. The weather is July was perfect. Photo worthy backdrops abound in this park with or without a festival. Highly recommend.

This museum house, the former home of millionaires Doris Duke, is a must-see. Although there are bigger more elaborate houses in Newport Rhode Island this one is very special because you may find its rooms are livable. The museum section of the home features a display of Newport made furniture from the 18th century and onward. The area where it sits near the ocean is spectacular. It was the day we were there because of the storm front moving in, and the ocean was very active against the huge ancient rocks.

When you were visiting Newport Rhode Island this is an absolutely incredible spot to include on your itinerary! The English style architecture complimented by the commanding views of the ocean that make this a spot worth stopping by! I was here on a garden tour and was hammered by the outdoor blossoms and look forward to a return visit where I can explore the interiors of the mansion!

We love rough point! It is one of the coolest homes we've seen here in Newport and the life story of Doris Duke is truly something to learn about. It has such a cool mix of historical details but also a 90s feel it's so interesting. The flower garden is also so beautiful during the spring and summer! Don't miss it!

Lovely home and antiques. Not much to see at this house, but the information about the foundation and the work Doris Duke did/does for Newport is amazing.

After seeing the Big Four, (Breakers, Elms, Rosecliff and Marble House), we still had time and wanted to see just one more “cottage.” Doris Duke’s Rough Point came up on our search and we are glad it did. Doris Duke’s home was tastefully done. She traveled around the world and was an avid collector. Consequently, every room was filled with hidden gems. Joan, the docent/greeter was fun, interesting and informative. Upstairs, there is a nice collection of furniture and Ms. Duke’s bedroom. There is also a room with a few pieces of her haute couture. The setting is also wonderful with a gorgeous bay view and a bridge. The formal garden definitely needs some loving care, but there are enough flowers to envision what it may have been like in her day.

An unforgettable visit to Rough Point! What an absolutely stunning and fascinating place. Rough Point is not just another Newport mansion it feels like stepping into a perfectly preserved piece of history, where every room tells a story. The ocean views from the property are breathtaking, and the combination of architecture, art, and landscape is truly mesmerizing. The tour was incredibly well-organized, and the guides were both knowledgeable and passionate. They shared so many interesting details about Doris Duke’s life, her art collection, and her love for the estate, which made the experience even more special. You can feel her presence in every corner of the house from the exquisite furniture to the personal touches that make it feel more like a lived-in home than a museum. The gardens and the surrounding grounds are just as impressive peaceful, beautifully maintained, and perfect for a quiet walk after the tour. It’s also amazing how well they’ve preserved the authenticity of the property without turning it into something overly commercial. If you’re visiting Newport, Rough Point is an absolute must-see. It perfectly captures the elegance, charm, and hidden stories of the Gilded Age, while offering one of the most scenic views along Bellevue Avenue. I left feeling both inspired and relaxed, I can’t wait to return someday!

DON’T MISS this gem. Between the astounding art collection of paintings, tapestries, porcelains, furniture and more, the house and setting is spectacular. My favorite of all the mansions. A must for many reasons, including hearing about Doris’s life, interests and philanthropy. Excellent docents who can answer any question and tell stories. The views and grounds are stunning.

Our sailing trip was pure joy from start to finish! Whether explaining points of interest, sharing sailing tips, or simply sharing stories with big smiles, their warmth made the trip. The boat was immaculate, the atmosphere was relaxed yet exciting, and the whole outing felt effortless and luxurious. If you're looking for a fun, memorable, and perfectly executed sailing adventure with the friendliest crew imaginable, this is it! We couldn't stop grinning!

Love the festivals at Bowens wharf. Right in the center of Newport. On the water with bars and food, perfect location. Oyster fest and the Seafood fest are a blast with live bands and seafood. Shout out to Dudemanbro and Timeless, two of our favorite bands. Fourth of July is so nice with the fireworks and celebrations. Love taking the sailboat and rum runner sunsets tours. Great stop on the bike tour! Shout out to the Landing for the great live music and water views. So many places to explore and try out on the wharf. Parking is always a challenge in Newport, highly recommend taking bikes from bike path or ferry from Jamestown.

Great place lots of wonderful food and fun shopping! Make sure you try the Southern Wharf Kitchen and Whiskey Bar excellent food and amazing drinks! Deigos is a must visit for great drinks and fantastic music!

Bowman’s Wharf was a great place to visit. There’s plenty of good food, lots of walking, and beautiful views of the harbor. It’s a lively area, full of boats, people, and shops — a perfect spot to spend an afternoon exploring and taking in the atmosphere.

Lots of nice shops, good energy and beautiful views. If you come close to sunset and find one of the restaurants near the water, you’ll be treated to beautiful sunsets

This is such a gem. The current interactive exhibit by Bobby Anspach is like no other — it’s rare to be able to engage with art so freely without long waits or crowds. The setting itself adds so much: a beautiful, calm space that makes the visit feel almost like a retreat. Oh and the kids loved the scavenger hunt!Honestly, the atmosphere alone is worth the trip, and the fact that they offer free parking is just the cherry on top. Highly recommend making this a stop — it’s an underrated gem compared to the usual Newport attractions.

I loved this museum! There is a variety of art, so something for everyone. I went free with a museum pass but would have paid for admission - I'd love to come back.

I stopped by this cute little museum because I absolutely love seeing art. If you are a member, the entrance fee is free, but otherwise, it is $15 for adults, which, in my opinion, is quite steep for the amount of exhibits you get to see between the two buildings. You can pay the fee at either location and the staff is friendly and helpful. Both locations, including the grounds, are well organized and maintained. This place is definitely worth checking out while visiting the area.

Such a nice little museum in a really cool building! Absolutely loved the surrealism exhibit by Arghavan Khosravi that was there in March 2024. Staff was so welcoming and helpful!

Better than I expected! There are two buildings. The older building has very charming interior details, a gorgeous staircase, nice paintings. I enjoyed it a lot!

Came to this museam by a happy accident just walking by and saw what appeared to be a family festival with food trucks, and tabling vendors. It was the auction, and it was a great time. Free museam entry, interactive exhibitions, free vender give aways, and wonderful live music. We were able to win one of the auctioned paintings, a water color sketch artist sketched and painted us for free (5 mins), and we talked with some beautiful and interesting individuals. This location is inside of what appears to be an old home and is tastefully assembled. The ceiling wood work. And the arranged art make this a gem to the community. Very happy to have come across this place. For those interested in art or not, keep elan eye open for their activities, I'd bet they have them often and I'd bet they are just as fun.

The Castle Hill Inn was an elegant dining experience for lunch. I am usually apprehensive about valet, but our guy, Connor, instantly made me feel as though my car was in good hands. From there, we were sat by a beautiful hostess named Ayina who was super friendly and informed us of everything they had to offer. Once we were seated, our waitress named all of the specials they had (so many good choices) and drink specials. Everything came out perfect. Lounging on the Adirondack chairs on the grass while watching the boats is a must-do when at Castle Hill Inn. There are even some paths to get down on the rocks below. Awesome place for a date. Highly recommend.

This is a great hotel with an excellent Restaurant. The views are spectacular especially during sunset. Enjoy sitting outside and enjoy your favorite libations, bring your friends and you will see some impressive yachts sail along the coastline.You can definitely make reservations at the restaurant if you dont want to stay here, but I recommend you get a room. You can dine at two restaurants the Aurelia and the Lawn Terrace. You will definitely enjoy what this place has to offer. I highly recommend you make a visit here.

We stopped in for lunch to celebrate our anniversary and birthday and were thoroughly impressed the moment we met the valet driver. The entire staff was warm and attentive, and incredibly welcoming. Our server Kaye was polite and friendly and went out of her way to make our experience memorable! The food was delicious, flavorful and beautifully presented. The views were stunning from every angle making the whole experience that much better . We had the pleasure of dealing with your manager Brian which made our experience even more special. Brian’s dedication to providing exceptional service and his commitment to providing exceptional customer service was evident in every detail. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! We can’t wait to come back and visit again!

[This is strictly for the restaurant!] WOW. 100/10. Go for sunset!! This is a must-see dinner spot if you are venturing to Newport area. Food, view and service were all an absolute 10/10. Cannot wait to go back another time. We went early/mid Oct so it wasn’t as crowded as it likely is in peak season but we still got there early (before 530) to get a good window seat in the dining area. The clam chowder was the best I’ve had to date. My husband ordered the duck and I’m not a big duck person but it was delicious. I also loved my turkey sandwich. And our waiter was incredibly attentive and kind.

Had drinks on the lawn. Location amazing, service fabulous but drinks were below expectations (especially given the price). Gin & tonic was watery like they let the ice melt. Another hibiscus drink was tasteless. Servers & valet top notch but the drinks were disappointing. Stick with wine or beer & enjoy the beautiful view!

Didn't stay here but 3rd time at the restaurant , meal perfectly prepared and presented. Ambience is spectacular!!! If you're in the area, go! You'll be happy you did.

I liked the style, the food and the atmosphere. I got the grilled swordfish blackened and it was very delicious. My wife got the lobster and shrimp pasta and it has a lot of lobster chunks in it, all great. The clam chowder was also a highlight. The menu stated it is award winning with the recipe also containing dill. It sounded interesting and exceeded my expectations in every way. The dill works so well and the clam was very tender, so far the best clam chowder I've had. We really liked it and are glad we visited.

We were traveling through and the kind parking attendant recommended this restaurant and we are so glad he did. It was excellent! It was a beautiful day. We were seated by an open window and it felt marvelous. The pumpkin pie martinis were fantastic and each of our meals were amazing along with outstanding service. If we come back to the area we will definitely return!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Red Parrot! Although some say it’s too touristy I think it is worth the trip. We had a group of five and everyone was extremely satisfied with their lunches. My mother had the coconut shrimp and was very happy with the sweet and light batter. She opted for honey mustard dipping sauce as she does not like any heat whatsoever and thought the sweet and spicy dipping sauce might be too much for her (the honey mustard was one of the best I’ve tried. My sister had the taziki pasta with Kalamata olives, sundried tomatoes, spinach, feta, chopped tomatoes and chicken. It was very light on the protein but the taste and pasta portion were great. Dad got the Coco Loco Coconut shrimp wrap. Flavor and portion size were great but he said there was maybe two piece of shrimp. The sweet potato waffle fries were a huge hit and not one remained in the basket! Everyone was very happy with the only improvement noted was that for the price the protein portions should be “beefed” up a bit.

Never a bad meal here and always great service! This is a great place to go to if you don’t have reservations and turned away by other restaurants in the area. No dress code…. Just good food Good service Good drinks Good vibes

We stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant today for lunch while stopping in Newport in our New England States driving vacation! Kelsie R. Was our server and she was phenomenal! Fun, friendly & informative! I had a delicious Swedish Fish cocktail (highly recommend) I ordered the Bacon, Egg & Cheeseburger with sweet potato fries, my husband ordered the lobster salad! Both dishes were delicious & perfect! We couldn't resist indulging in the Bananas Franchesca~ YUM!!! The atmosphere was amazing, 5 out of 5 hands down!

Absolutely delicious food, great service, and ideal location! We had no wait time, and our server was busy yet attentive and fun. The lobster Rangoon, swordfish platter and seafood Alfredo were top notch and huge portion sizes. The kids had fun mocktails with a little squeaky flamingo and shark on the lid. It was an overall great experience and we will definitely be back!

The food was great! French onion soup was the best I have ever had, the swordfish was tender scallops were amazing. Wife loved the tropical salad! It was busy, which meant very loud. And service was a little slow between checks, but was friendly. Food came out timely and hot.

The Elms is such a stunning and timeless venue in Newport. I had the opportunity to photograph an engagement session here for one of my couples who is getting married locally, and it was nothing short of magical. The architecture, symmetry, and gardens are absolutely breathtaking—every spot feels like it belongs on the pages of a classic romance novel. From the dramatic staircase to the perfectly manicured grounds, The Elms offers endless opportunities for beautiful, elegant photos. If you’re looking for a venue that combines European charm with Newport grandeur, The Elms is an unforgettable choice. (Sharing a few of my favorite photos here!)

Easily one of our favorite mansions. It is gorgeous inside and out but by far has the most beautiful grounds with beautiful gardens and fountains and sculptures. We enjoyed our time here year after year. We also love the cafe out in back which has really delicious food and ambience. Edit add: The restaurant at Elms review: The Carriage House is one of our favorite places in Newport already! It just opened and we already went twice on our last trip to Newport in one week. We absolutely loved the tasty club sandwiches, salads, drinks (I had lemonade and my wife had iced tea). The service is very good. The ambiance and beauty of place is exceptional- how can you go wrong sitting at Elms after all! Highly recommend you make a trip out and make reservation in advance as it can get busy at times. Dine like the royals for a day!

The storytelling brought the Gilded Age to life, guiding us through the grand rooms and exquisite décor that still feels timeless today. What really stood out was seeing the behind-the-scenes details—especially the kitchen. Tucked away and literally “put on the back burner” back in the day, it was fascinating to realize how differently the household ran compared to the opulence shown upstairs. The contrast between servant life and high society was eye-opening. Every corner of the mansion revealed layers of history and artistry. From the intricate furnishings to the architectural flourishes, you can feel the care and vision poured into every detail. Highly recommend the audio tour—it’s engaging, informative, and makes you appreciate not just the grandeur, but also the grit that kept it all running.

It was awesome to walk through and see a piece of Newport history and to catch a glimpse into the lives of a historic, wealthy Newport family and their service staff. The house is beautiful even though a few rooms were under construction. It's amazing even though it's a bit more "simple" than the nearby Breakers and other ultra gilded mansions around. Worth the tour if you have a day to spare. I'd recommend this ( and the other mansions) as part of a self guided tour to save hundreds vs the cost of an on ship cruise excursion. You can see more, do it at your own pace, and save. Easy access from port and a nice 10 minute walk to the other mansions. Just remember to download the app and bring headphones so you can listen to the tour.

Visiting The Elms Mansion was one of the most inspiring and mind-blowing experiences I’ve had in the United States. Having recently started watching The Gilded Age, it felt surreal to walk through the real-life settings and made the visit feel even more personal. The mansion and its gardens are stunning, and everything is beautifully maintained. I purchased the Newport Historical Society membership ($115, includes entry for a guest and access to all the mansions), and I’m already planning future trips to return and explore the rest. There’s also a new café on site that I’ll try next time. One of the highlights was the audio guide — easy to download with your ticket or membership. I didn’t have headphones, but even at low volume it guided me room by room, explaining what I was seeing, which made the experience interactive and exciting.

The Elms was included in the tickets we bought to visit the Breakers. The Elms isn’t as grandiose as the Breakers, but it was pleasant to visit. The French architecture and decor are lighter and elegant. Remember to download the app according to the instructions there and bring your own headphones/ear buds for listening to the audio guide as you step into each room.

Beautiful piece of Newport history. This symbolic château represents the Gilded Age and how this French Victorian château inspired the foundation of this castle. The grounds are stunning and there is even a Café on the outside grounds! Feels like a trip to Europe. Great for families and there are so many parts of the castle to discover! The self-guided audio tour was a great addition to the tour. You download an app and as you guide through the tour, an audio explanation will play depending on the room you are in.

We came here based on a friend’s recommendation, and I’m so glad we did! Even though the restaurant was packed, we were seated within seconds of walking in (around 5 PM). The raw oysters and clams were fresh and delicious, but the lobster roll blew me away. It was warm, juicy, and loaded with a generous amount of lobster meat👌🏼 Will definitely come back for another roll. Highly recommend!

Midtown Oyster Bar is absolutely fantastic! The seafood is as fresh as it gets, and the oysters are some of the best you’ll find anywhere — perfectly shucked and full of flavor. Their menu goes beyond oysters too, with delicious seafood dishes and flavorful sides that make every visit a treat. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, making it a perfect spot whether you’re out with friends or enjoying a nice dinner. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to recommend the best pairings. If you love seafood, Midtown Oyster Bar is a must-visit!

Very nice, missing the live music though. We’ve gone a few times in recent years, and the food is always outstanding, as is the service. The dishes always look and taste sensational. Would recommend.

In town 5 nights visiting and My wife and I were out walking and wondering where we were going to get dinner. Stopped in and looked at menu and decided to give it a try. We sat at the bar. I started with 3 oysters and they were so delicious I had to get more. We had Charred octopus (as good as it gets), wicked shrimp, lobster roll and truffled fries. Everything was fresh and exceptional. Highly recommend.

Midtown Oyster Bar was fantastic. They were able to accommodate a party of 12 for our family’s wedding week dinner. The staff was very kind and attentive. The food was delicious, especially their seafood tower, lobster Cobb salad, truffle fries and lobster roll! They were also able to split entrees in half for people sharing (salad picture of half split portion). Highly recommend to anyone visiting Newport.

We had a fabulous meal here. We were expecting “pub” food but everything was delicious. The oyster selection was incredible. The little necks were mouthwatering and the scallops were cooked to perfection! Madison our waitress was the best server we have had since moving to the US. Thank you so much!

Rosecliff is truly one of the most breathtaking venues in Newport. As a wedding photographer, I’m always inspired by the elegance of this mansion—the sweeping staircase, ornate ballroom, and manicured gardens make for the most timeless backdrops. Every corner feels like it was designed for a love story, from golden hour portraits on the terrace overlooking the water to romantic first dances under the gilded ceilings. The team here is also wonderful to work with, ensuring every event runs seamlessly. If you’re looking for a venue that’s equal parts iconic and romantic, Rosecliff is a dream come true. (Sharing a few of my favorite photos from a wedding here so future couples can envision the magic!)

Rich or poor it's nice to have money! Loved touring all the gilded age homes. Should have a package deal to see all the homes that are open. Currently you can purchase the Breakers plus 2. Parking was adequate however bathroom facilities were lacking for females. There was ALWAYS a line. I liked being able to have the self guided tour on my phone. Maybe something should be said about bringing personal ear buds. We ended up going to Walmart and buying some because we did not bring them from home. Home was not as furnished as the others but just as beautiful. Enjoyed hearing the stories about the owners and servants.

Although I like the Breakers more, I love that there is an art exhibit in this place and they host events. It was good to learn more about the architect himself and I could see little draft/working pieces of other homes in the exhibit. The "backyard" also has amazing gatsby views.

Went for the 2025 Newport Flower Show. Had never gone before and now understand why there are limited tickets and specific time slots for said tickets. It was cute and fun, but very crowded. As a "younger" horticulturalist who came to the NFS to supplement the loss of the Boston Flower Show, I was slightly disappointed and overall would think twice about doing it again. It felt like most people were there to be pretty around pretty plants and dont get their hands dirty 😂 I expected a slow moving crowd as these events usually attract the older generation, and that is exactly what happened. It wasn't just the elderly's fault though. I have patience for old people who love plants. It was the combination of older people and the younger IG photo snapping crowd was a disaster. The house is big but not THAT big, and I feel like everyone was so posh with their noses in the air they didnt take anyone else's time or space into consideration. There were displays I didnt even see because everyone needed a photo and couldnt get ir right, or would stand and wait til other got out kf their shot to get the perfect shot. The people were not the ephemeral vibe that plants and gardening is. The vendors fell below par, totally catering to the pretty posh people instead of plant people. I did get to touch base with a vendor from the Boston Flower Show, and that was great. Would probably attend solely to purchase from her in the future.

Ask for elevators. There are lots of stairs with no railings. The gardens and back lawn are the best parts.

An interesting “party house” that features a self guided & app supported audio tour of the interior. Upstairs there is an art gallery with historical photographs, paintings and drawings. There is NO ACCESS to the Cliffwalk so plan accordingly.

My husband and I went on a rainy day and it was perfect. It was not overly crowded and there wasn’t any wait. Rosecliff is definitely one of the more “demure” houses but that’s what makes it so beautiful. It was designed tastefully. It’s definitely smaller but still just as interesting as some of the bigger houses. The staff are friendly and informative. Highly recommend bringing headphones if you decide to do the self-guided tour! Overall, really beautiful!

Bellevue is the must drive, walk, cycle, explore historical street in Newport. There's a wealth ( no pun intended ) of history, both local and American, to be seen. There's too many historical mansions to mention, but some of the most memorable that I've frequented include Rosecliff, Astor Beechwood, and Marble house. There's many more, both private and public. You never know what you'll see or find as you peer over the hedge rows. There's always something interesting to see.

Love this street. A must visit for every tourist. Walking down this street is a treat for the eyes. You can imagine it in its heyday, strolling among the mansions. Visit them all… we are lucky to have the history preserved so beautifully.

We had our post-wedding dinner at Scales and Shells in Newport and it was absolutely amazing! The manager and staff were wonderful to work with—so accommodating and attentive throughout the entire process. I was able to customize our menu, which made the night feel even more personal and special. They were also accommodating with decorating, which I premade, and set up for the tiny details. We reserved the upstairs space, and it was perfect—cozy, elegant, and just the right atmosphere for our celebration. Our guests loved it, and we had such a memorable time. I would highly recommend Scales and Shells for anyone looking for an incredible dining experience in Newport!

We ordered the warm lobster roll and the shrimp scampi with linguine. The lobster roll was good but the portion was small for the price. The shrimp scampi was tasty. Service was efficient. The restaurant has great ambience. There were both bar and table seatings.

Really nice place, very attentive and hospitable staff. Food was amazing! I had the burrata appetizer and the grilled swordfish entree. Will definitely go back next time I’m in town!

The oysters and shrimp were perfect, and all the food was really good. However, it’s hard to give 5 stars because the service was just okay and the environment could be better. Also, I ordered a white wine listed at $42 but was charged $50. You really have to double-check your bill here, since mistakes seem to happen often. The food itself, though, was definitely good.

We had the Caesar, crudo, sourdough, tuna and salmon. Everything was mind blowing except for the crudo, which was a good sashimi with some oil. One of the best meals we have had in a long time. The sourdough butter was salty Thanksgiving seasoning heaven. The Caesar was one the best, each bite was perfect. The crudo (sashimi) was basic the fish was good and fresh but we would have skipped it next time. The tuna and salmon entrees were incredible. Not sure if I’ve ever had a better cooked salmon. Crispy char, with a flaking moist interior. We have (2) notes. We wish there was a door on the back of house; we had inline view of the dishwashing station and bright fluorescent light, maybe some curtains. Also every person that walked into the far door was confused where the host stand. They eventually figured it out, but maybe a sign directing or close the door entirely. We wish we lived closer so we revisit time and time again. We will be back.

We had dinner there last night. One of the worst meals I've had dining out in a long time. Shrimp Scampi was served cold, 5 very dry shrimp on a cold bed of pasta with a bland sauce that was lacking in flavor and presentation. My wife's linguini with clam sauce was almost as bad. The focaccia bread was good as were the martini's. The server and staff seemed to be in a hurry to close down - the food came out within 5 minutes of being ordered (can't be freshly made to order that fast), the staff was cleaning and sweeping around us as we were eating. We felt super rushed. From the time we sat down at 8pm, we were done, paid and out the door at 8:35pm. We ate here 3 years ago and it was much better. It was bad. Never again.

Very busy, decent wait. Servers were great. The atmosphere was ok. Buffalo wings above average. I had the chicken Marsala as my entree, and it was actually really good... Not a meal I expected from a pub... I'd definitely come back.

Best bar in town hands down! We asked the bartender every where we went and they all said PJ is their favorite and it's easy to see why. Looks a little divey but has some world class food. The seafood soup is incredible, full of flavor and seafood. Loved the jambalaya too. Can't wait to come back!

Looked at this place on google. I didn't disappoint pretty cool place. The atmosphere was awesome, and it was pretty busy on a Monday. But overall, the wings and Chicken Marsala and my go-to old fashion were pretty dang good. Will definitely be back in the future.

During a visit to Newport, this place was recommended by a resident. It's a little gem... the burger was excellent, fries had great flavor and were nice and crispy, and the penned carbonara was hearty and tasty. Staff was friendly and super fast.

We stopped here for a drink and an appetizer. We ordered the southwest egg rolls and they are delicious. Drinks are cold but overpriced! I'm not surprised about the prices it's Newport lol

Incredible bar. Came here to watch NFL Sunday from a cruise ship stop in Newport. Quick walk from port. Staff is super attentive and nice. They were nice enough to put the games on we wanted to watch. Wings are a must order. Bartender told me they were legit and he wasn't lying. Some of the best wings I've had from anywhere, period. 1000% recommend this place.

Everything was good except for the grilled octopus which I sent back because you couldn't even chew it. Second time was better but still just ok. But the standout here was the gluten-free lamb poutine, everyone loved that!

My fiance and I went in Monday for dinner on our honeymoon and I have to say we were blown away. She got the Potato pizza and I had the Drs Orders burger (complete with syringe full of queso). The food was phenomenal, the restaurant itself was also very aesthetically pleasing, and the staff and live jazz band performing made it an even more enjoyable experience. If you’re looking for a cool spot with a creative menu and good live music in Newport I’d recommend this place hands down.

This place has become a summer staple. Service is excellent and their food is lovely. Highly recommend the salmon! Large portion and well balanced flavours. Jasper is a gem, she is a hospitality natural.

Never a bad experience! Spacious and open in summer, dim and cozy in winter. There is often live music, too. The menu is excellent, with something for everyone including wood fired pizza. The fried mushrooms are an absolute must even for those who think they don’t like mushrooms. Trust me on this! Great vibe, great service, nice long fully stocked bar, and very cool bathrooms. Had an incredible dinner last night. After traveling from NY for hours, we stopped here a half hour before they closed. Our server was incredibly sweet, knowledgeable and accommodating even being the last table. Loved the decor, the cocktails were wonderful, and the food was Sofa. King. Fantastic! Amazing flavors, hearty portions, and beautiful presentation. Even though we were just passing through, I would seriously plan to revisit Newport just to eat here again. Bravo.

Steak was cooked properly and tasted good. Potatoes were plentiful and delicious. Atmosphere was chill. No real dress code (I was in jeans and a tshirt), but I saw someone enter in gym shorts and a T-shirt and another group more dressed up. Staff was very friendly and attentive. I would go back. I did make a reservation.

Exceeded recommendations and expectations! Definitely make a reservation because people were turned away which shows how popular this place is. Our hostess was so nice and even took our request to sit outside. We started off with the dinner rolls and butter. Y'all this bread is not a joke..... This was the start to an off the charts meal. A Mostly Stellar Meal at Thames Street Kitchen My partner and I visited Newport for our anniversary and wanted to celebrate with a great meal and drinks. Having lived in London for years, just a five-minute walk from the River Thames, Thames Street Kitchen (TSK) immediately caught our attention. After perusing the menu and reading reviews, we made a reservation. It was easy to find as we strolled through the streets of Newport, stopping into a few shops along the way to pick up souvenirs from our weekend. We were seated quickly at the bar, and one of the staff members promptly took our drink orders. She was engaging, asked about our preferences, and offered thoughtful recommendations. My partner ordered a Manhattan, and I opted for the Spicy Tequila Drink. I wasn’t familiar with the ingredient mûre, and the fruity flavor didn’t quite complement the tequila or the spice, so my partner graciously swapped with me—and I ended up loving her Manhattan. Sadly, we were then passed off to another server who was less engaging and noticeably inattentive. As others have mentioned, the kitchen is open, and the performative nature of the food preparation is a defining feature. I found myself doing a bit of self-talk not to scrutinize the staff including noticing their choice to wear or not wear gloves, and even the occasional cell phone use. The “performance” didn’t enhance my dining experience. Instead, it felt a bit awkward being front row all evening. We started with the warm bread. It was a bit dense and, although reheated, wasn’t warm enough to melt the butter. It needed more moisture and a touch more heat. For our mains, I ordered the Boneless NY Strip cooked medium rare with Béarnaise butter, while my partner chose the Halibut Porterhouse. We decided to share the Shishito peppers and the potato latkes as sides. The sides arrived first. The latkes were excellent and crisp on the outside, soft and warm inside. The crème fraîche added just the right tang and creaminess to complement the potatoes. The peppers, however, needed salt. They were too bland without it, and the cheese topping didn’t adhere well or add the saltiness the dish needed. Thankfully, when we asked for salt, they brought out a ramekin of crystalized sea salt, exactly what was missing. Our mains followed shortly after, and they were spectacular. The NY Strip was a perfectly cooked medium rare in the center with a crispy, flavorful crust. Each bite was better than the last. My partner’s halibut was equally impressive: a generous cut of fish cooked to perfection with a crunchy topping, lemon, and cilantro. It was too large to finish, so we boxed it up for later. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu, which struck the perfect balance with just the right ratio of ladyfinger-like layer, coffee, mascarpone cream, and cocoa topping. It was not overly sweet and ended the meal beautifully. Beyond the open kitchen and the uneven service, my other critiques center on the surprise “Kitchen Appreciation Charge,” the lack of acknowledgment for our anniversary, and the takeout packaging. When our bill arrived, there was a required Kitchen Appreciation Charge. We discussed it at length afterward and even researched it. A brief explanation on the bill would have gone a long way toward easing the confusion and frustration. Given TSK’s tourist-heavy clientele, transparency here would help avoid misunderstandings with guests unfamiliar with this type of charge. We had noted our anniversary on the reservation, but there was no acknowledgment of it all evening. Even a simple “Congratulations” or a candle in our tiramisu would have been a thoughtful touch. Lastly, the takeout boxes, which were standard cardboard containers like those from the Whole Foods entrée bar, didn’t hold up. The halibut leaked slightly, leaving a lingering fishy smell on everything it touched. For food of this quality, sturdier packaging would be a worthwhile upgrade. All in all, we had a lovely evening, and if you’re in the area, Thames Street Kitchen is well worth a visit.

We have been coming to Newport for quite some time and stumbled across this place. YOU MUST HAVE RESERVATIONS…it’s rare they have an opening so don’t take it personal when they say NO and offer you a time much later in the day. We tried a few times 🤣 We were finally able to book a table a few months outs as we are from Long Island. The ambience is awesome with the kitchen in full site. They remind of us a local restaurant they we use to love that was farm to table but unfortunately they closed down due to lease issues. What they have on their menu is what they have…can’t deviate from it. We got their Hanger Steak, lobster, potatoes, Brussels sprouts and some chocolate dessert. We also ran up our bill with their delicious $15 cocktails 🤣 Hanger steak was cooked to perfection and presentation was amazing. They had shallot hidden the dish that amazing! I got their BBQ Black Pepper dip for the steak and it was great. THEY DO NOT HAVE FREE BREAD at the table you have to pay for it. We opted not to do so but another table ordered it and I understand why 🤣 We left behind full and glad we didn’t get an app. We barely had room and didn’t even finish our dessert. Our bill was high bc we drank a few cocktails that were $15 each. If you didn’t drink the price to eat here is very reasonable around $50 PP UPDATE 8/17/25 WE ARE BACK 🤣 YOU NEED RESERVATIONS TO COME HERE! Do NOT GET UPSET AND LEAVE BAD REVIEWS BC THEY TURN YOU AWAY OR OFFER YOU UNFAVORABLE SEATING/TIMES. We booked weeks out as we are coming from Long Island AND NEVER DISAPPOINTED! Please use common sense and NOT complain noise as well since it’s an OPEN KITCHEN AND VERY BUSY RESTAURANT. People are going to talk and have a good time…deal with it! Last time we got the hanger steak this time we got the strip! My wife couldn’t finish her meal and I struggled to finish it for her 🤣 As usual we padded our bill with $15 plus delish cock tails! Our server was amazing! When you order steak you get one choice of dip for the steak! It is actually enough for two people so each person should pick a different one bc sharing is caring! We got the Bearnice Butter and black garlic BBQ. We did the black garlic BBQ in the past so we knew it was good. Bearnice sauce was amazing and we both dipped into that with every bite. We didn’t even touch the Black Garlic BBQ 🤣 We got their mash potatoes which is to die for as well as their broccolini with tahini, almond and bacon. You couldn’t even taste the tahini which is good bc my wife doesn’t do spicy! WE WILL BE BACK!

Thames Street Kitchen, known acronymically as TSK, is probably one of the higher end restaurants in Newport competing for the wealthy's dollars. It does a superb job at that. The restaurant shows most of it's talents by the menu and the performance space that is the open kitchen concept. A thing to note is the cleaning that took place in the space that I do not regularly see at other restaurants. Presentation is everything there. And the presentation starts at the menu. Cocktail drinks are simply named, and easy to comprehend. I got the "Spicy Tequila Drink" which was not overly spicy. Named appropriately, the drink did it's job. The menu had a greater variety of beef options, with some fish and poultry. For those who have allergies, a conversation with the server may be necessary to parse out what is available. The hanger steak seemed like a reasonable choice. It was delicious and came with a brown butter bonita dipping sauce that accentuated the flavors. Four or five other sauces are available, which are amazing ways to want me to come back for more. Noticing the effort and quality of the food was quite easy. I have begun to have opinions on a restaurant by how they treat their customers when serving a Caesar Salad. At TSK, the Caesar Salad was served as if all the components were evenly diced and distributed. It was served on a plate as if it looked like a small layer of cake. And it was delicious. Sometimes, a chef may merely throw lettuce, cheese, and dressing into a to-go container. TSK does not do this, it is a work of art. The smashed fingerling potatoes were creamy and decadent. They were also uniquely presented. You might do yourself a disservice by not trying this amazing carb. The meal was pricey, but here, you are paying for *noticeable* quality and effort. Highly recommended. If you're strategic, make reservations. If you have gluten-free issues, be prepared to not see any markings on the menu.

7.26.25 The beer and the venue are a 5, but the burgers & wings were just not good at all. They serve more than just beer if beer isn't your thing. This place is just amazing. Huge outdoor and indoor seating. The outdoors also has lawn seating with Adirondack chairs besides the 2 level patio/decks. Everything is new and modern, and the landscaping is immaculate. Huge parking lot, too.

Was visiting Newport from NY and went to Newport Craft Brewing & Distilling Co. on Sunday for our first time. Everything was incredible from the beer and spirits to the service and the space itself was awesome. And we got a great Wallys burger and hot dog to try too. We brought our dog and sat outside on the upper level and saw an amazing sunset overlooking the bridge. It’s also a great place for a football Sunday since they had all of the games playing. Would highly recommend checking it out and getting a beer flight or cocktail and then also getting some beer and a bottle to bring home with you. Shoutout to Sarah and all of the staff for being so great and welcoming with us and our dog!

This was recommended to us by a local, and it was a fun spot. The building is modern and nice and has so many tables, and then when you go outside, you see the water view and we got to see the beautiful sunset. Because it is a brewery and distillery, they have beer on tap and also specialty cocktails. We were glad we got to experience this place while visiting Newport!

Newport Craft is one of my absolute favorite breweries in Rhode Island, and they made our rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks truly unforgettable. The rooftop deck offered immaculate views of Newport, the bar was flowing all night, and their cocktails and beers were 10/10. Tyler and the entire team went above and beyond to make the planning process seamless and the evening itself special. They were incredibly helpful, thoughtful, and attentive to every detail. From start to finish, we felt taken care of and our guests had an amazing experience. If you’re looking for a unique venue with great vibes, incredible drinks, and an outstanding team, I couldn’t recommend Newport Craft more highly. They helped kick off our wedding weekend perfectly!

Beautiful place! View of the ocean from the top deck is wonderful — nice place to go watch the sunset and see the bridge light up. Beer is great, burgers are great, prices are great. Also truly appreciated that it’s fully handicap accessible and easy to navigate, so we could bring our daughter. Will definitely return.

This Place Deserves the Hype My wife and I came here for lunch and split their wings — absolutely incredible. I had the lemon pepper, and they were packed with flavor. The waitress was welcoming, friendly, and made us feel right at home. We liked it so much, we came back the very next day for our anniversary dinner — and it didn’t disappoint. We started with the nachos (snapped a pic because they looked that good), and finished with the steak entrées. Both steaks were cooked to order, tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. The staff was on point both times — attentive, professional, and genuinely kind. Highly recommend this spot whether you're just in town or celebrating something special. We’ll definitely be back.

We went for the first time for lunch on Saturday about 2:30pm. The food was excellent! I almost never write reviews but really think that people should check this place out. I had a Caprese wrap--probably the best I've ever had. Didn't skimp on the mozzarella, tasty tomatoes and basil, and delicious balsamic. Even the tortilla was flavorful. My friend had CBR 17 pizza and loved it. Bacon, chicken, cheese, ranch, and bbq sauce. So good. Large portions--we each took home half our food. Excellent and friendly server, very comfortable atmosphere, and good music. This place deserves a large and devoted clientele.

Unacceptable Discrimination – We Were Ignored Entirely I had a disturbing experience at Tavern on Broadway in Newport, RI, that I feel compelled to share. I visited with three Black women — we were the only Black patrons in the bar at the time. We were seated by a hostess, but from the moment we sat down, we were completely ignored. Other guests (who were not people of color) came in after us and were served promptly, while no one came to our table — not even to take a drink order. We approached the hostess desk multiple times and were told each time that someone would be right with us. That never happened. Staff walked by us, looked at us, and continued serving others. The most disturbing part: some staff members laughed and looked directly at us after one of our follow-ups, as if they had no intention of serving us at all. It was humiliating and clearly intentional. No one should ever experience that kind of treatment, especially in 2025. I can’t speak to others’ experiences here, but for us, the message was loud and clear: we were not welcome.

I popped in here for a late lunch and the apps. Were good. I had the garlic parmesan wings and the ribs. The sauce on the ribs and the scallions were delicious. I wish I had ordered the pumpkin martini as a special but I didn't even notice the board until afterwards. I sat at the bar. Bartender was nice but didn't care to make conversation with me. The place was very quiet. Only a few people were there. If u like beers they've certainly got a lot on tap!

Everything about this place was an absolute 10/10, from the minute we stepped to the host stand to when we finalized our check. All of the staff was incredibly attentive, helpful, and went over the top to make sure we had a great experience. Our servers/food runners were great, the one server that stood out was Hope. She was friendly, funny, and overall created the best environment for our time there. All, and i mean ALL, of the food and drinks were AMAZING. Even the most unique & strange flavor combinations I was pleasantly surprised by; for example the capresi martini. I’ve truly never had anything like it. Hands down one of the best dining experiences I have ever had.

Nicely curated Italian restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining options. The chef's choice 7 course dinner is a wonderful option. Impressive wine list compliments the food. The pasta was perfectly seasoned. The salmon was also very good. Terrific service as well.

We were left waiting outside for about 15–20 minutes — a noticeable miss, especially considering the restaurant was roughly 80% empty. There were also minor delays with refills and an awkward seating arrangement, though nothing too disruptive. The food itself was hit or miss. Some courses were flavorful and thoughtfully prepared, while others felt rushed in execution or uneven in portion and presentation. We ordered the tasting menu for two, which was both expensive and lengthy — stretching over two hours. While the concept was creative, the pacing and overall delivery didn’t quite match the elegance the setting suggested. Overall, this restaurant shines in atmosphere and ambiance, but there’s room for improvement in service and culinary consistency. It’s a lovely spot to enjoy a glass of wine and the view, best suited for a relaxed evening rather than a fine-dining experience.

We accidentally stumbled across the restaurant while taking a walk and went in to try. The menu is small but the staff explain the menu well if needed. We got a simple marinara pasta and mafaldine (lobster pasta). Both of them were very yum and seemed fresh. The marinara sauce is amazing. They were able to give a coloring set for my kid which helped. We had a good experience there!

It's not the first time I've visited Italian restaurants in America, but this one conveys the real flavors of Italian cuisine. And as a person who traveled to Italy, I want to say with confidence that they conveyed the flavors of Italy. The dishes we ordered were extremely tasty. The desserts also turned out to be very good. The waitress was very attentive to our requests, she knew everything about the dishes we were interested in and according to her recommendations we were able to enjoy our dinner. Therefore, they not only cook deliciously here, but also have the highest level of service. I recommend this restaurant 100%.

we had an incredible dining experience from beginning to end. giusto is absolutely worth they hype, and deserved of every praise and accolade. tip: ideally secure a reservation as far in advance as possible, but you’re like us, and your dinner plans came together that afternoon, call and get on the waitlist to be notified if a seat opens. we arrived at 8, and were able to secure a 9:15 seat, while we waited at the bar, standing for 10 mins before bar seats opened, and we ended up just having our meal there, which was an excellent experience. nick our bartender was amazing, the food was beyond. top tier, i had the duck confit, and she had the buscatini, we had the croquettes to start, and ended with the olive oil cake and salted caramel gelato, oh and a negroni or 3, all were phenomenal choices. can’t go wrong here ever! will be back!

The food was incredibly delicious!! We were blown away! The service was just as amazing — our waitress was so warm and friendly 😊 My husband said it was the best Italian food he's ever tasted in his life! 😍🍝 The only downside was the long wait — it took quite a while for the food to arrive, and there was a big gap between the appetizer and the main course. But overall, it was absolutely worth it!

We had a mostly great stay here, in Martha Vineyard! The service was top-notch—everyone we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. Housekeeping really impressed us with their attention to detail; the room was clean, fresh, and nicely set up. It had a cozy, comfortable feel that made it easy to settle in and relax. There were a couple of hiccups during our stay. Unfortunately, we did encounter some bugs—ants near the wet bar and bathroom, spiders around the hot tub, and flies on the porch. We're not fans of bugs, so this was definitely a downside and took away from the overall comfort. Additionally, the jacuzzi tub didn’t drain properly the first night, though that issue was resolved afterward. That said, the warm hospitality and attention to cleanliness truly stood out. With improved pest control and a bit more maintenance, this could be an excellent getaway spot. We suggest to maybe opt for a room instead of a villa to avoid the bugs.

We stopped by after the cliff walk for a pizza, but ended up not getting it. While the view is very nice, the servers, the waiters, and the other clientele all have a certain demeanour to them. Specifically, this place caters to a certain demographic, and will give you second class service if you are not clearly part of that demographic. It feels very unwelcoming. Finally, the wait for a simple pepperoni was 35 minutes! Would not recommend.

When my husband booked this location I thought Wow thats expensive. He didn't tell me about the cost because he knows I wouldn't have said yes to spending that much a night. Im more frugal lol OK that being said, this hotel is amazing in every way. I was worried I wasn't fancy enough but the staff wasn't fake nice they were genuine and kind and interesting. This is important to me . The historical beauty was stunning. The lawn and the view! The easy access to the beach and the cliff walk was perfect. The food was delicious! I couldn't say more!

We stayed back in May and could not have asked for a better stay. The staff is amazing, we absolutely loved our room, the drinks and breakfast were so so good! The cliff walk is just outside the door! We were between here and other top hotels in the area for our stay and I am so glad we chose here.

Stunning restaurant but when you pay $60 for two glasses of wine , plus the and $8 for a club soda, not including the tip ...you feel a little taken. Especially when they tell you you can't sit on the lawn chairs, even when they are two thirds empty. Bad policy for paying customers. Who charges $8 for club soda for the DD? I mean, come on! Disappointing.

Exceeded our expectations!! The service was absolutely incredible, the room was beautiful with a bathtub overlooking the beach. The staff are more accommodating and friendly - shout out to Paige and Jake. Absolutely recommend.

We tried the wine garden/lawn for the first time this summer. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience. We waited 30+ minutes for service to the lawn chairs and were told we could not go to the bar to get our drinks and had to wait on the lawn. We wanted to order pizza but they said it would be over an hour. We ordered a very sad, expensive cheese board that was $35. We were then rushed out and told that they were closing early. Overall it was not the best experience.

Stopped in for a cocktail in the lower restaurant and the rooftop sunset with friends. Everyone working there was exceptional and helpful in hospitality....except one waitress on the rooftop bar who was rather rude; tried to kind of make up for it but the experience was already soured. Other than that, the snack we got was fresh and delicious; just should have come with a utensil. All else was good.

I truly don’t know where to start with this hotel. We had our small 40 person wedding here 9/27/25 and not only is Sara amazing (event manager) but the other staff is astounding! To start, Sara worked with us for about 10 mos until our wedding day and was very responsive via email and even met us on a day she was not working to show us around the inside/outside of the building to give us ideas for our events. Secondly, during our 3 night stay the staff was amazing all around. Rooms and shared rooms (like the library) are spotless. The front desk staff and other staff just walking around know you by name and what room you are staying in which makes you feel important! Lastly, the food was incredible. Aside from our wedding food, we ate here several times during our stay and it is apparent that the quality is there. We are truly looking forward to our anniversary (or sooner) for another reason to stay here.

The Vanderbilt Hotel in Newport is an absolute gem! The common areas are stunning, with elegant decor that perfectly captures the charm of Newport. Our room was comfortable, beautifully appointed, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The highlight, though, was the rooftop bar—sipping cocktails while watching the sunset over the harbor was unforgettable! The staff truly made our experience exceptional. Said and the valet team were incredibly friendly and attentive, always greeting us with a smile and ensuring every detail was handled seamlessly. Amy, Ivan, and Darby went above and beyond, providing outstanding service and making us feel so welcome. They were especially thoughtful with our dog, always ensuring fresh water was available, which meant the world to us. We can’t wait to return to this wonderful hotel!

We had the most delightful stay in Newport at the Vanderbilt. I cannot stress enough what an absolute gem of a human Gaby was. She made us feel like friends, not guests, and was able to accommodate any minor request we had. The property itself was so special and the outdoor spaces were filled with hydrangeas. For location, it was a 2 min walk to downtown and about 7-10 min walk to most restaurants we wanted to go to. Highly recommend staying here! Food was great and rooftop was so nice for drinks.

We enjoyed every second of our one-night March stay, which was booked through the AMEX Fine Hotels and Resorts program. All benefits were clearly laid out at check-in and we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast and dinner at the hotel, as well as the goodies offered in the mini bar. The greeting at check-in—by both the concierge and front desk—was truly memorable, as they each went over the top to welcome us to Newport and make sure any questions we had were answered. It was apparent they genuinely love their jobs and city, and that passion was contagious. Our upgraded room was beautiful, and we arrived to a welcome note and chocolates sitting on the table. In a town full of luxury, I would choose The Vanderbilt every time.

We enjoyed our time in Newport, but expected more from The Vanderbilt. While the staff were very kind and welcoming, the service overall didn’t reflect typical Auberge standards. The rooms were extremely comfortable—especially the beds, which were wonderful. However, the food was underwhelming and didn’t meet our expectations.

Honestly one of the best views and a great venue right in the heart of Newport's Harbor & downtown Thames Street. The view from the top floor of the tallest brownstone building is above any other building in the area, allowing you to see across the harbor, across Jamestown and glances of the Kingston shoreline. Sunsets here are unbeatable. The venue is a really cool vibe with a mix of wood, industry, music and historic Newport. The Dueling Piano shows is amazing hands down a great and entertaining night out in Newport. For event rentals, the entire space is transformable and open to any catering option with a full kitchen to support outside caterers. The staff and owner are extremely knowledgable and professional, I can not say enough about this gem in the midst of it all

I went to the show on Friday August 2nd and I cannot recommend enough. The crowd that was there that night was AMAZING and both the pianist were INCREDIBLE! Never been to anything like this show before, and will definitely be going again. So much talent (vocals and piano, plus other instruments!) and jelled with the crowd so well! 10/10 night, thank you so much!

One of the best venues in town! Such a great vibe and atmosphere along with an awesome view. The service is great along with awesome music. It is so different than any other place in Newport. They also have a new art gallery which features local artists and the art is incredible!

Oh my gosh- what a freaking fun time. My partner and I have been to the dueling pianos several times and we always have a wonderful experience. So much so that I planned a surprise engagement party there with our family and friends. I worked closely with Abby and the rest of the events team to make this special event happen and they were incredible, responsive and made the night one we will not soon forget. 10000% would recommend Top of the Pelham and the dueling pianos for a fun evening or a special occasion. Thanks again to this amazing crew!!!!

Had a fun night with friends but was driving that night so didn’t want to drink after asking for a Shirley temple with no alcohol the bartender said no and went to the next person and asked if they wanted alcohol. I would of paid and tipped for it just kind of upsetting to get that reaction for asking for no alcohol

We came here after some rememberence events for my late uncle (he loved Dockside). Unfortunately we were asked to go through an empty queue (which brought us back to where we started. Then we were sat by the water, which was plesant, and told "the server will be right with you." Other servers, hosts, and bartenders were busily cleaning tables and seating patrons (who were not recieving service). At one point we asked around and not one person had been greated. A host came to clean a table and we were compelled to ask, "servers do work here right?" To which she replied cordially, "yes they do" and went to the bar. She told the bartenders, whom all looked up at us, then turned around and continued to work on whatever they were doing. The restaurant wasnt even busy.... As someone who has spent 15+ years in hospitality and food & beverage, at every level, I can honestly say this was the worst service I have had in over a decade. I have only walked out of one restaurant in my life. This would be the second. Zero stars, 2 thumbs down, would not recomend.

We were looking for a place to have a drink and some lighter fare so we stopped by 22 Portside. We had some cocktails and got a charcuterie board. Both were good but be prepared for a steep bill, 4 drinks and the board were over $100. Was it good, sure, would I go back again, not likely.

Second time going here and it’s absolutely awesome!! The calamari is the best I’ve ever had and you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! What an atmosphere too!! I promise you’ll love it

22 Portside B host and hostesses lied about being filled with reservations after I asked to seat myself, wife and toddler son, with this quote (after pretending to cycle through ‘made up’ reservations on the iPad): “do you have a reservation?” I replied no, and surveyed a sparsely occupied outdoor seating area with other parents and two toddlers. He responded with “oh yeah no we’re filled with reservations but our sister restaurant’The Moore’ will have walk in openings that can accommodate you and be better served for noise” (while glancing at my son. I smiled and walked away knowing he was lying. I will be following up with management in the coming days.

We had gone during a long weekend, so naturally the place was quite packed. Even with the crowd, the wait time was surprisingly short — we got a table in about 10 minutes, which was impressive. As for the food, it was definitely enjoyable. I ordered the lobster roll, and it turned out really tasty. The filling was generous, and with the French fries on the side, it was quite a hearty meal. I also tried a bite of the fish and chips — that was even more delicious, maybe because of the crispy flour coating and frying 😋. The shrimp pasta too was flavourful and hit the spot.

This was our first visit to this seafood spot, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The service was excellent, and the food tasted fresh and flavorful. Prices felt fair for the quality, and I’d definitely suggest trying the lobster roll—it was a highlight. The menu offers plenty of appetizers and entrées, so there’s something for everyone. The view of the bay was stunning, and as the sun began to set, it created such a beautiful atmosphere that we wished we had more time to stay and enjoy it. Our server was attentive, always checking in and keeping our drinks full, and the dishes came out promptly. If you’re looking for a place with great seafood, warm service, and unforgettable views, I’d highly recommend The Lobster Bar.

Easy and fun spot if you are looking for a restaurant with good views! We stopped in after one of the sunset sailing tours and were happy to be warmed up with some clam chowder soup. The food was okay but not amazing so this is more of a spot if you have a large party or want water front scenery as there is a ton of seating. Their lobster roll is served cold so if you aren’t a big lobster person, wouldn’t go for that. The fish and chips were fine, can’t really mess up fried fish :) would probably still go back if with a group. Service was pleasant and there’s plenty of TVs if you’re trying to catch a game.

10/25 - Here on a NE bus trip & wanted to eat someplace with a view, boy were we happy with this place. Good food, good service and the view we were looking for. The wife had crab cakes, I had the lobster roll flight (3 ways). I have to say her crab cakes were better 😁. Average beer selection with a couple of unique ones. Satisfied our needs both visually and gastronomically.

I went to eat at lunch time at a weekday and no wait or reservations needed. I got the clam chowder and fried seafood platter. The clam chowder was average nothing special but the fried clams had a weird taste. It tasted like it was not prepared properly, there was dark green and gritty substance with the clams. The other fried stuff was fine. I do not recommend getting the fried clams.

5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fantastic meal and perfect coastal atmosphere. The lobster roll was fresh, generously packed with sweet lobster meat, and served on a perfectly toasted bun. The slaw on the side was crisp, light, and flavorful — a great balance to the richness of the roll. My companion’s grilled salmon was beautifully prepared — tender, well-seasoned, and paired perfectly with asparagus, roasted tomatoes, and a bright lemon-herb sauce. Service was friendly and attentive, and the outdoor seating made for an ideal dining experience. Highly recommend The Lobster Bar for anyone looking for great seafood done right.

Stopped in late on a Monday for some cocktails and ended up getting the lobster Mac and cheese. It was ok. Also got the tuna poke and it was very good. The drinks were good and the lady working the bar was very friendly.

This is a really nice synagogue and museum. We loved learning more about Rhode Island's rich history of religious freedom. The tour guide was knowledgeable and thorough.

The synagogue is magnificent, and its history is so deep. The presenter guide was very knowledgeable, as he has been a member of the community his entire life. The museum down the street was also very informative even though they were not run by the same organization, which is a shame.

Absolutely wonderful! The history talk and walking tour were top notch. The synagogue isn’t open for tours as the congregation hashes out some legal battle, but it is still worth the trip!

The tourguide was fantastic; explaining the shul and it's history in great detail, making the experience very interesting. It was a real eye opener on jewish history. Definitely worth a visit!

I've known about Touro Synagogue for years, but this is the first chance I've had to visit. It did not disappoint. The sanctuary is beautiful, and the docents provide a fascinating overview of the history of Jews in Newport. The visitor center has some interesting exhibits, and you can walk up the street to look in at the old Jewish cemetery. Be sure to check the schedule because you can only tour with a docent.

The Touro synagogue is the oldest in the United States and has been visited by people such as George Washington. We met the Rabbi and he brought us into the temple to speak about the history of this synagogue. Interesting story and history of this place. There are no tickets require to enter, but you must signup online to reserve your time.

A wonderful Mansion less visited. Stained glass and wallpaper abound. Be sure to do the grounds tour. The trees are absolutely breathtaking.

Visited Chateau-Sur-Mer on Saturday, 6/31/25. Arrived a few minutes before it opened, and were the only ones there, besides one other person. This tour was self-guided, which we generally prefer, so that we can proceed at our own pace. At the info desk, they checked our tickets, which we had purchased online and printed out at home. There, we also obtained a printed copy of the tour narrative- we like this better than getting the app and wearing headphones. Each room has sign, so that you can then read the corresponding history and architectural details. It was fascinating to see and to imagine how the occupants lived, and to take in the decor that was popular at the time. If you have any questions, the attendants are are helpful and well informed.We spent about forty five minutes in the house. We then spent an equal amount of time wandering the lovely, well-maintained grounds. Most of the trees are labeled as to type, which I appreciated. If you've never done so, I suggest spending a few moments under one of the weeping beech trees. We also saw the croquet pitch and the moon gate. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable visit.

Great place to visit. Definitely do the app tour (bring your earbuds). This house is much different stylewise than the other mansions available to tour; it's also a lot less busy than the Breakers.

This is a great mansion to tour. This one was built in 1855 and significantly understated compared to The Breakers. Still a very impressive place and the woodwork is exceptional. There are several rooms (Library and Dining) that feature fantastic wood carvings from a 19th century Italian woodcarver. According to an employee there, there are only 5 rooms in the U.S. still preserving this woodcarver’s work and 2 of the rooms are in this mansion.

The house is strongly victorian in style. Its very dark and heavy. At first I thought a gentleman must have decorated it but there was a lady of the house and even her bedroom was dark. Just not my taste when you see the grand opulence and airy lightness of the The Breakers, Elms, and Marble House. Its a nice house, just not in line with the other 3.

At the time I went the beach looked very spacious. I ended up hiking the cliff walk trail. Best scenic walk/hike in the state! Big luxury Mansions on one side and the Atlantic ocean on the other side with rocks and nature.

This place is absolutely stunning. It's better to go by after season. It's not so packed and you can find a spot to park. Love being near the Cliff Walks. It's such a beautiful place to visit.

Loved it. The sand was the softest sand I've ever felt. They had bathrooms and showers/ changing rooms. There were 2 food trucks options when we were there (June). There are a decent amount of picnic tables for use. Parking was $25, but it was for the whole day and we used it to do the cliff walk as well. There was some metered street parking available. The only downfall is that the sand is so fine, it gets everywhere.

Easton's Beach is a solid choice for a relaxing day by the ocean. Clean sand, gentle waves, and great views make it a nice place to unwind. It can get crowded on weekends, but there's enough space to enjoy. Parking is decent if you get there early, and the carousel and snack bar add to the charm. Not the most secluded beach, but definitely family-friendly and convenient. This is ok Beach day, but great walk or hike for the cliffwalk!

Beach has public parking next to it and is close to the cliff walk. Like others said, there will be red algae, so at times, the water looks reddish. Parking is not free.

We enjoyed the Beach Parking to use the Cliff Walk. We also toured the Breakers Mansion while we were parked there.

This is such a great beach! Lots of space, beautiful scenery and lots of shells!

This restaurant has by far the best water view dining in the area. Great for enjoying a delicious lunch while watching the sail boats cruise along the harbor. There are plenty of seating scattered throughout the property but on a busy summer day, make sure your reserve a table ahead of time. Food was decent but you really come here for the view and the sun.

We had such a wonderful experience at The Lawn Terrace! We tried the avocado toast, corn bread, fried calamari, burrata, and eggs Benedict — and every single dish was absolutely delicious. The calamari was hands-down the best I’ve ever had, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The atmosphere makes it even better. Tables typically require reservations, but bar seating is available for walk-ins, which is super convenient. You can also just grab a drink and enjoy it near the ocean view, which creates such a relaxing and beautiful dining experience. Highly recommend this spot for both the food and the stunning setting — we’ll definitely be back!

Best place there is. Service was perfect, views were perfect and food was amazing. I watched many of the workers being rude to by other patronage but they handled it beautifully and professional. Food was hot and great and the views can not be beat. We sat at the bar as well and the bartenders were amazing. I can not say enough about those that work here. They deserve so much.

Had an absolutely amazing time! We reserved the private Adirondack experience because we were a group of 7. It was so worth it. The service was fantastic. Steph was with us and she was top notch. The drinks were great, the food was fabulous, loved the minister rolls and the view was impeccable. Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Been around the world and understand what makes an outstanding travel experience...Our experience was going well until we encountered Julia who was amazingly rude and off Putting. Our first and most likely our Last time. The view is beautiful but unfortunately our experience with the staff member created a negative experience and impression for future experiences. It is a shame that a beautiful view and great drinks are shadowed by terrible customer service. My suggestion go for a drink,scenery and instagram photos but eat Elsewhere for true authentically quality pleasurable experience in Newport RI!

Beautiful place to have lunch or dinner. The view of Newport is amazing, you will see lots of birds and boat/ships passing by. The food is top tier ! I recommend the beef carpaccio and the sea bass , you will not be disappointed! All of the staff were really nice and accommodating to my friends with certain food restrictions. Will definitely come here again soon!

The Greek Salad was fresh & delicious, the Fruit Smoothie Plus was also good but couldn’t taste any of the 2 kinds of rum it was supposed to have. Love their big booths, perfect for a service dog to lay under the table comfortably!! “Thou shalt not” sayings on the beams were cute. Will definitely visit again when I’m back in town, really want to try some of their other menu items!!

Classic old-school diner vibes with incredible food, huge portions, and prices that are more than fair. Everything came out hot, fresh, and fast. Do yourself a favor and try the jalapeño cornbread with the pepper jam. It's to die for.

Food was fantastic, The boiled fried potatoes are properly fried and salted. The bacon was nice and crisp. I loved it

Exceeded all expectations. Eggs Benny were perfect. Fancy hotel quality. Pancakes were also perfect. Somehow both fluffy and a little chewy. Delicious. Bloody Mary was a bargain at $7. Service friendly, attentive, and fast, but not rushed. Decor is 50's diner(ish). Only two minor complaints. Lighting could be better. It felt dark. But to be fair, I was hungover, so it could have been me. The side of bacon pricing wasn't listed and I thought it was comparatively expensive at $5+. Not only will I be back, it's my new goto "grassy spoon" breakfast in Newport. Based on this experience, I'll also go back for the "after 11" menu. Thank you staff and owners of Blue Plate Dinner for clearly caring about what you all do there. Well done!

A proper diner! We were in town from NYC for a wedding and needed 'fuel' for our ride home. THE BREAKFAST POTATOES ARE FANTASTIC HERE! We had the regular breakfast but it was a notch above most diner's. The service was warm and inviting from all servers and the front of house. Highly recommended if you're in Newport and looking for an affordable place to eat with a typically expansive menu.

Prompt friendly service pleasant waitress, attentive. Food was great, restaurant was clean, what more can you ask for.

Beautiful and clean park. The water and views of boats passing are so relaxing. You can also walk close to the water by way of the large rocks. There's picnic tables, public bathrooms, free parking and is dog friendly. There were also a few food trucks and a place to purchase kites to fly on great windy day.

Nice place to hang out with friends and family for cookouts, picnics, and of course flying kites. beautiful sunsets, plenty of parking, lots of room for a crowd.

Took us by surprise, we were just driving around when we spotted kids flying kites- decided to stop, buy and fly one- amazing experience. Kites range from $30 and above- they have a tiny store there, you also do have a food and lemonade truck and all this right across the beach. A quiet, fun place to spend your day with family and friends.

The kite Festival was awesome. Very mellow and great for kids. Really nice scene. Beautiful views. Beautiful kites.

Great place to watch sunset and or sunrise, great for walking your dog, and the best place to fly kites.

Kingcote is one of the older Mansions that was slated to be knocked down and was rescued from the 1950-1960 (town decision?). Great woodwork and a lot of original artifacts. Grounds have a European Fernleaf Beech Tree thats very rare in US, by my experience. Doesnt seem prone to Beech tree diseases. Part of Newport Mansion Preservation and worth getting 2 person memebership that also allows a guest. No private tours for Kingscote typically (rare).

Great mansions to visit prior to the Breakers. Very nicely preserved Gothic style home with amazing wood details. Tickers are not sold on site so you can either purchase ahead of time or online with your phone.

The house is beautiful nonetheless. Needs better signs to guide visitors. Has only one bench to sit outside, I would definitely invest in buying more. Gardens are plain. Old lady selling tickets by entrance door is very nice if you are white.

All of these mansions were incredible. Kingscoat, owned by the LeRoy or King family is one of the "cozier" places. It is beautiful inside and one that I recommend highly.

Very lovely tour about a small year round family. Lovely home with lots of historical artifacts and a beautiful detailing on what life for them was like.

There is a great example of 1840's wealth in this "cottage". The staff were very knowledgable.

What a lovely old home. I thoroughly enjoyed my tour with Kathy. She did a great job highlighting the many interesting details of this stately residence. While not one of the great stone mansions Newport is so well known for, it is still an intriguing glimpse into the life of a Guilded Age family. The guided tours are quite nice in these smaller homes and the guides are very knowledgeable. Worth the time.

Love that this private library is free to visit for the public (not all rooms, but the most historic ones are accessible, and the temporary gallery exhibit is too). Lots of history in this building, and there's a room of strange books that you can buy for $1 each. Very kind lady at the front desk was happy to tell us all about the library and its history.

If you enjoy a good book, this is a must-see! The oldest continually lending library in the US, the Redwood is full of history, including most of the original books. It also includes a small but impressive art collection. The librarians are super kind and extremely helpful.

A must-see for book and history lovers when visiting Newport. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, willing to answer any questions you may have about this historic site!

What a beautiful place to visit. Beautiful setting, full of history. The first library in America, is an art gallery and an architectural marvel.

The Redwood Library and Athenaeum is a national treasure that is here to be appreciated by all. It is open to the public. There is parking across the street and access is fully handicap accessible. Not only it is a lovely serene space, wonderful librarians who are there to help but offers it also wonderful events that should not be missed.
