Nagoya Castle, originally built in the 17th century and reconstructed in 1959, offers a glimpse into Japan's history during the Edo Period. The castle features artifacts, costumes, weaponry, and artwork that tell the story of ancient Japan. One of its famous features is the shachi-hoko, a creature with the head of a tiger and body of a fish. Surrounding the castle is Ninomaru-en garden known for its picturesque teahouses.
Visiting Nagoya Castle was a delightful experience. The grand architecture and the iconic golden shachihoko shining atop the roof were truly impressive. The grounds were spacious and beautifully maintained, perfect for a relaxing walk, and the reconstructed Honmaru Palace showcased stunning craftsmanship and rich history. Although the main keep (tenshukaku) is currently closed, there’s still plenty to see and enjoy, from well-curated exhibits to helpful multilingual guides. It’s a must-visit spot that beautifully blends cultural depth with visual charm.
Taeho K — Google review
The castle, or rather part of it, is obviously very beautiful, but unfortunately the main building, i.e. the actual castle, is not open to visitors. Renovation work has been ongoing since 2018, as the castle was seriously damaged during an earthquake. Only the gardens are open to visitors, something like the outer bailey, i.e., the representative rooms where you can admire the craftsmanship of Japanese renovations. The castle was completely destroyed during World War II, with only the foundations surviving, so what we visit is a magnificent reconstruction. Overall, it is worth visiting this place. It may not be as spectacular as other castles, such as those in Osaka or Kyoto, but it is worth spending an hour visiting this site. Important information: you visit the castle along a set route, wearing slippers. I recommend leaving your bags in the cloakroom, otherwise you will have to carry them in front of you. We visited on a very rainy day, and despite this, the queue was very long. The ticket price is 500 yen, so it is worth arriving early and buying a ticket. People with disabilities, e.g., in wheelchairs, will not be able to see the exhibition, as it is narrow, the route has many turns and narrow turns, and the entrance is not wheelchair accessible.
Kamil W — Google review
Rebuild, not original. But used high quality materials. Entrance was ¥500 and completely wasted of money. I thought we get to see the actual inside castle. But not, Stay outside and take the photo with actual castle. Spend roughly an hour here. If you happened to go to Osaka castle, you can totally skip this one. Can call this is a mini version of Osaka.
William L — Google review
Affordable ¥500 entrance for adults. I believe the castle is closing soon for extensive restorations, that seem needed. During my visit in June of 2025 you can already spot construction vehicles and work sites beginning. The gift shops are worth visiting and have some unique and quality items. Drink machines can be found conveniently throughout the grounds. After the main entrance connected to the bathrooms and drink machines there is a nice stamp to be collected.
M M — Google review
Admission is 500 yen. There are three lines for the tickets. Two are cash only, and one accepts cards. The main castle is closed but you can walk through the reconstructed Hommaru Palace… it is very beautiful!
Yereen O — Google review
Dont be discouraged by the ongoing renovation. The castle still worth to visit. You still can enjoy the castle premises or the estate. Worth to mention, while I was there, there are several ninja on several spot, that can be asked to be photographed with. Thank you for this. I enjoyed my visit.
Mario K — Google review
Admission to the park is free while visiting the (outside of the closed) main castle + Honmaru Palace is 500 yen. The Honmaru Palace takes around 20mins to walk around and you will see where the lords and their retainers used to stay or hold banquets. Quite impressive given it was built in the 1600s. However, if your goal is to take a picture of the Nagoya castle, walk the other way round the outside and you will still be able to see the back of the castle without paying. Do also note that it’s quite a long walk from the Nagoyajo metro exit to the castle.
Meeeliaaa — Google review
The castle is easy to access and will cost you 500 yen to enter. Sadly you cannot enter the castle as there has been damage to the structure due to earthquake damage. T HR w gardens around the castle are green and lush. Some good photos can be taken from many good vantage points.

Specialty Museums
SCMaglev and Railway Park is a museum that showcases over 35 railway vehicles, including steam locomotives and bullet-train cars. The park was built with the concept of being a place of dreams and memories, offering visitors the chance to view 38 actual trains up close. These include examples from different eras, such as the 1913 steam locomotive, passenger trains used after the war, and intergenerational Bullet Trains.
I visited on Thursday and it was a truly magnificent experience for anyone who loves trains or modern technology. The museum offers a wide range of displays that showcase the history, development, and future of railways in Japan. Although most of the exhibits were in Japanese, there was a very helpful English audio guide available, which made it easy to understand and enjoy the visit without missing any important details. One of the highlights for me was learning how the Maglev works. The explanations were very clear and easy to follow, even for someone without a technical background. Watching the demonstration and seeing the models in action made me feel like I was witnessing the future of transportation right in front of me. It was both educational and fascinating, and I found myself getting more and more curious as I walked through the sections. What impressed me the most was not only the technology itself but also how well the exhibits connected past, present, and future. From the history of steam and bullet trains all the way to cutting-edge Maglev, it gave me a real sense of how far Japan has come in railway innovation. I also enjoyed the atmosphere — it felt inspiring, almost like stepping into a vision of tomorrow. Overall, the visit was well organized, informative, and engaging. I left feeling amazed and inspired, and I would gladly recommend this museum to anyone — whether you are a train enthusiast, a student, or just curious about how technology can transform the way we travel. It’s a place that combines learning with excitement, and I am very glad I went.
Pasurachate S — Google review
Brilliant showcase of the history of rail in Japan! I loved all the old trains and cars, and especially the details shown about how they work! The various generationa of shinkansen are also on display, and you can enter the train cats and appreciate the interiors.
Michael C — Google review
The SCMAGLEV and Railway Park in Nagoya is an impressive and extensive museum dedicated to Japan’s rich railway history and its cutting-edge train technology. The exhibits cover everything from historic locomotives and classic commuter trains to the latest Shinkansen (bullet train) models and even maglev technology. It’s a fascinating destination for both train enthusiasts and families alike. When I visited, it happened to be the opening day of the recently retired “Yellow Doctor” Shinkansen, a special maintenance train that has become quite iconic in Japan. Because of this special event, the museum was especially crowded, with long lines and plenty of excited visitors eager to see the new exhibit. Despite the crowds, the atmosphere was lively and full of energy. The museum’s layout is well-designed, allowing visitors to walk through real train cars, explore interactive exhibits, and even experience simulator rides that let you feel what it’s like to drive a Shinkansen. There are also educational displays explaining the engineering and safety systems behind Japan’s rail network, making it both fun and informative for all ages. Overall, the SCMAGLEV and Railway Park is a must-visit attraction in Nagoya for anyone interested in trains or Japanese technology.
Wesley W — Google review
I visited the museum on a Friday - no waiting time. The exhibition is fantastic! Apart of the trains, also the adjacent systems like tracks, brakes and electrical wirings are well explained. With these visualisations it is very good for explaining to children how everything works. Despite the remote location from the center this is, as expected, an absolute highlight of Nagoya. For the upcoming Halloween a train was decorated nicely! Some trains can be visited, some are closed (intentionally). When I was there the mid train in the entrance hall was unfortunately closed due to renovations I assume. There is sufficient space and possibilities to spend at least 2 hours there. Hope to visit the museum again with my son.
Walther X — Google review
Visited this railway park in September 2025. This is an amazing place to learn and experience the Japanese railway especially the Shinkansen and the Super conducting maglev. If you are a rail buff like me, even one whole day at the park feels less. The trainsets on display are great. The daiorama is fascinating. There are multiple stamps to collect. Must visit.
Shreyash G — Google review
This was a fun, interesting, and informative visit. Many trains here, old to new. They even allow you to walk inside many of the real trains on display. Find out many facts relative to tracks, power, speed, and, of course, magnetic levitation! Very small kid and big kid friendly! Enjoy in Japanese or English.
Anthony S — Google review
Amazing train museum with interactive exhibits everywhere. It is focused primarily on Japan's famous high speed bullet trains - Shinkansen. What I found the most interesting was the learning section that explained everything about how the Japanese High Speed Rail works - everything from trains themslves, to the underlying systems that allow the trains to work impeccably all the time, with an average delay of just 0.2 minutes. I spent 5 hours at the museum, so expect to spend at 2 hours there!
David J — Google review
Visited with family in the morning and had a great time. The train collection is really impressive — from early steam engines to shinkansen and the maglev. It’s fascinating to see the history and technology behind Japan’s rail system, even if you're not a hardcore train fan. Our son enjoyed walking through the train cars and trying out the interactive exhibits. Unfortunately, the driving simulator was already sold out when we arrived, which was a bit disappointing — so definitely get there early if you want to try it. The massive diorama was a highlight — very detailed and fun to watch. The museum is spacious, clean, and mostly indoors, which made it comfortable even in warm weather. Plenty of English signage too, so it’s easy to follow along. Tips: 1. If you're interested in the simulator, arrive early as tickets sell out quickly. 2. There’s a small kids' play area that’s great for younger children. 3. Be aware that there are no vegan or vegetarian food options inside the museum, so plan accordingly if you have dietary restrictions.

Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens, located in Nagoya, is a popular tourist spot offering a diverse range of attractions. The zoo boasts over 125 species of mammals, 70 species of reptiles, and more than 86 species of birds. Adjacent to the zoo is the city's Botanical Gardens featuring an extensive greenhouse with over 7,000 varieties of plants from different environments such as desert and jungle.
I had a fantastic experience visiting Higashiyama Zoo! Compared to zoos around the Tokyo area, the entrance fee here is really affordable — only 640 yen for a combined ticket to the zoo and the Higashiyama Sky Tower. It’s a great deal for everything you get to see and do. One thing that really impressed me was how close you can get to the animals. You get a much more personal view compared to many other zoos. It made the experience very memorable! There’s also a nice food court area in the middle of the park with a good variety of restaurants, perfect for taking a break and enjoying a meal. The park is spacious, full of greenery, and has a relaxing atmosphere. The view from the lake area with the swan boats and the Sky Tower in the background was beautiful too. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in Aichi Prefecture — great for families, couples, or anyone who loves animals and nature!
S M — Google review
This is my 2nd visit to this Amusement park & Zoo. The park was actually really busy, but today is a Sunday, so lots of families were out enjoying the Autumn sun. The ride and attraction area is very well kept with reasonable prices. I paid per ride and it worked out better as I only wanted to ride 5 attractions. There were plenty of vending machines, a gift shop and food. Be aware, it's very hilly with a lot of steps! I didn't go to the Zoo as I only visited for the Amusement park. Slope Shooter was the standout attraction, which is very unique, being the only one in the world I know of.
Charlotte B — Google review
It's a really nice zoo. Lots of animals. A monorail to see everything from up high. And an amusement park. Today we just walked around the Zoo and not the Gardens or amusement park areas. But the Zoo part was plenty as it was pretty humid and being a Sunday it was very busy. Even with the crowds most of the lines to see the animals moved quickly and swiftly. This is a great place for kids and families. Or on a date or by yourself as there's plenty to do and see.
Corinth C — Google review
This is unbeatable during hanami season. After leaving Mexico City's free zoo and botanical gardens I figured I wouldn't be able to give out anymore 5 star reviews for paid experiences. I was wrong... This combo pack makes the San Diego Zoo feel like even more of a confusing experience for the price paid. Maybe it's an exchange rate thing, maybe it's about the number of animals, in the end I just don't know. I made it clear in my last review that I was not a huge fan of animals in captivity, but being on an island made me feel less bad about it. It's not like this Japan is so big that a theoretical habit could exist for these animals somewhere else on the island. I wasn't visiting the zoo, but the layout of the habits was so well done, I found myself stopping by to see some rare sights. In other zoos, the line to see koalas is so long that I've never actually seen a live one, so it was quite the experience. The weather was cold so bears had climbed the trees to sleep in the sun and I think it could have been the cutest thing I've ever seen. I also stopped by to see the giraffes, which were close to the front, but when feeding happens they eat right in front of you as the hanging baskets of food draw them towards visitors. Very smart placement. I saw some other animals, but I was really there for cherry blossoms, and the botanical gardens didn't disappoint. The cherry blossoms, along with many other flowers, were in full bloom and everyone was enjoying themselves. The garden section is way bigger than I imagined and I admit fatigue kicked in so I didn't even get to see everything I wanted. The venue also includes a wedding hall that makes you look like you're a baller, a huge glass atrium, an observation deck, and a train that tours the park. As a visitor, you definitely get your money's worth. Wild...
Jermain A — Google review
It’s a really large place, and you'll have to do a lot of walking, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing for the best experience! There are many people on weekends, so you might not find a seat in the resting area or dining area. I suggest bringing a picnic mat to enjoy sitting outside, but only if the weather isn’t too hot! 😂
TammÈ — Google review
🌡️🥵🫠On a scorching day of 33°C, I had the incredible chance to see a polar bear at the zoo! It was fascinating to watch as this majestic creature jumped into the pool, playing toys, and splashing around 🐻. Super cute!!💛 Hopefully, people and caretakers always remember how important it is to consider wildlife well-being in environments that don't reflect their natural habitats, and care more about them. The staffs from the Zoo are nice.
Charley L — Google review
Wonderful zoo worth spending about a half day. With amazing animals and well planned out enclosures. The ticket and souvenir prices were also really affordable. But I do find the ticket prices for the zoo monorail a bit of a scam.
Ken H — Google review
It’s a fun experience to go here aside from I got the tickets cheap via Klook, it does really have a lots of animals and flowers/plants from different areas around the world! I suggest you go early as the zoo and botanical garden has wide area. Also, bring in some onigiris or any conbini food as these are much cheaper. I went in Sakura Season! I happen to witness Sakura in this area, so beautiful! As you enter the Zoo, take the Zoo Map with you as ur guide around :) PS. You should also try to go to Sky Tower while you’re in the zoo for a complete experience :)

Shirotori Garden is a serene Japanese-style garden in Nagoya, offering a tranquil escape from the city. Spanning 3.7 hectares, it's designed to reflect the natural beauty and geography of the surrounding area. The main pond symbolizes Ise Bay, while the stream represents the Kiso River and a hill mimics Mount Ontake.
It is a park in the heart of Nagoya City. The entrance fee is 300 yen for adults. It is a very beautiful and pleasant place to see the autumn leaves. The interior is well-designed and there is a cute cafe where you can sit and enjoy Japanese sweet while enjoying the beauty of the park. It is definitely worth a visit.

One of the very great experiences in life. A photographers paradise. Spent 3hours just soaking up the atmosphere and subtleties of garden design. A masterpiece. There was a Japanese wedding couple having their photos taken. Which added to the memorable day. I had the chestnut ice cream black tea jelly sundae. One of the best things I've eaten. Heavenly with iced sencha tea. Superby presented. A moment in life to cherish and give thanks for your life. Thank you to the staff here.

Beautiful garden, especially in early spring. We visited on a Saturday and didn’t find the grounds to be crowded at all. Parking was 300¥ and the entrance fee wasn’t bad. Lots of room to run around and explore - the garden is much larger than it looks from the outside. Absolutely worth a visit.

Legoland Japan Resort, opened in 2017, is a vibrant and family-oriented theme park offering an array of rides and games tailored for children. The park also features a fascinating factory tour and engaging block-building activities. Situated near Kinjofuto Station, it has quickly become one of Nagoya's top attractions. While primarily designed for kids, the park offers plenty to captivate adults as well, including impressive Lego models and diverse themed areas inspired by the Lego universe.
A park full of creativity and joy! Visiting LEGOLAND Japan was one of the highlights of our trip to Nagoya, and it absolutely lived up to our expectations. The entire park is filled with structures and characters built from LEGO bricks — it’s not just fun for kids, even adults can enjoy it just as much. The park isn’t overly large, but the layout is well-designed. Each themed area, such as Adventure Zone, Miniland, and the water park, has its own charm and offers great photo opportunities. The attractions range from thrilling roller coasters to gentle rides for younger children. Many of the activities are interactive and involve building or solving puzzles, which makes the experience both fun and educational for kids. There are also plenty of souvenir shops throughout the park, and if you’re a LEGO fan, you’ll probably end up taking home more than you planned. Getting there is easy: from Nagoya Station, you can take a train directly to the park. I recommend arriving early and spending the whole day there, especially if you’re visiting with children — they won’t want to leave! All in all, LEGOLAND Japan is a wonderful theme park filled with imagination and creativity. Whether you’re traveling with family, on a date, or just looking to rediscover your inner child, it’s absolutely worth a visit. I’ll definitely be back again!
羊大頭 — Google review
I went during the summer holidays, and it was more crowded than I expected. Some of the popular attractions had queues of 30 to 45 minutes. The weather was quite hot, but thankfully there were occasional clouds. The kids really loved the LEGO, and we had an unforgettable day. Also, the food at the restaurant was delicious.
Fishson96 — Google review
We visited Legoland Nagoya and overall it was a very good experience, definitely worth the money. Booking tickets online in advance gave us a nice discount, which made it feel even more worthwhile. Going on a weekday turned out to be the best decision, since the park was less crowded and queuing times were very short. It really allowed us to make the most of the day. Most of the attractions are clearly designed for smaller children, but my 10- and 8-year-old sons still had an amazing time. They loved repeating the same rides and play zones over and over for hours without getting bored. It was great to see how happy and engaged they were, even if some of the attractions felt a bit simple for their age. The whole park is colorful, cheerful, and full of Lego details that bring back a sense of wonder. It’s very clean and organized, and the staff were friendly and helpful whenever we needed assistance. There are also enough rest areas and food options to make the visit comfortable, though I would say the meals are on the pricier side — which is pretty normal for theme parks. Overall, I give Legoland Nagoya 4 stars. It’s especially perfect for families with younger children, but even older kids who love Lego will find plenty to enjoy. With the online ticket discount, short queues on weekdays, and the joy it brought to my kids, it was definitely a fun and memorable family outing.
Pasurachate S — Google review
Went during winter, and loved it. Not crowded and most rides are meant for kids, and no long lines. One can find vendo machine around. Not as big as USJ but there's map available for when you go there, free of charge. Japan's famouse places were in Lego diorama on display for one to enjoy, some are interactive as well.
Arnelli E — Google review
A very nice amusement park to go with your children! There's a lot of attraction that small children can ride to and it's very fun! For Muslim, you can ask a prayer room in the family service area, the nice staff will guide you to a reception room for prayer. But you must bring your own sajadah and prayer cloth.
Maulani F — Google review
Geared towards younger kids but quite a fun day out for the whole family, as with most Japan attractions the staff are incredibly friendly and will always do their best to help. Food options could be better, but in line with what you find at other major theme parks. Note: if you visit in summer, take bathing suits and a change of clothes, lots of fun but very wet rides and activities!
Robert H — Google review
Legoland Japan is a fun place to go with your family. As an adult I enjoyed the MINILAND the most. Really amazed with how they create the famous landmarks across Japan with just legos. Most of the rides are for kids. For parents, they can enjoy it with their kids. Do come early so you have more time to enjoy all the rides.
Muhammad A — Google review
My first Legoland visit! Not a Lego fan but this place is really cool with all the colours and music. As with all theme parks of course. So a couple of things to expect like all theme parks: food will be more expensive, tickets will be of a price tag. For this, car park, follow the instructions by the website where you park nearby within walking distance with a good rate, especially weekday. Lots of car park, if you can get the floor where the connecting bridge that would be great but not necessary. Tickets, recommend to buy online in advance for discounts. All the rides are within the costs of your tickets so have fun inside. Lots of kiddies rides but adults can have fun too, weekdays have less crowds so not much queue. The park has different themes so go to everyone to discover, some maybe closed, check on the updates on website. Note the closing time. Look out for mascots to have pictures with them. There's a little Japan where I recommend to go view their amazing works. Food while a little more expensive, but still as yummy and interesting way to order for one particular restaurant .

Atsuta Jingu, a revered shrine located in Nagoya, is known for housing the sacred Kusanagi-no Tsurugi sword and hosting the annual Atsuta-sai Festival. The shrine attracts around 6.5 million visitors annually and is surrounded by picturesque cypress trees. Its Treasure Hall showcases over 4,000 ancient household articles and materials, offering insight into the deep-rooted beliefs associated with the shrine.
A beautiful shrine located a ride away from Sakae area in front of Mitsukoshi. We visited it on a holiday- Japan Culture Day. Small kids dressed up in traditional costumes. There were a lot of people but not that crowded. The shrine is surrounded with trees and lush foliage. It also has a small Ginkgo corridor where family photos were taken. Small food stalls lined up on the path leading to the shrine. They gave the place a festive vibe. Nov. 04, 2024

I had the opportunity to visit Atsuta Jingu, the sacred shrine of Nagoya. If you ever visit Nagoya, one place you shouldn’t miss is Atsuta Jingu, an ancient shrine with a history of over 1,900 years. It is one of the most important shrines in Japan, as it enshrines Kusanagi no Tsurugi, one of the three sacred treasures of the Japanese imperial regalia. The moment you step into the shrine grounds, you can feel the peaceful and serene atmosphere. Centuries-old trees surround the area, creating a calming environment. Despite being located in a bustling city, entering this place feels like stepping into another world. Atsuta Shrine is deeply revered, especially among the Japanese, who often come here to pray for good fortune, protection, and success in life. The shrine features worship areas and a grand torii gate, a symbolic element of Shinto shrines. I am truly delighted to have visited this remarkable place and to have experienced the beauty and deep cultural heritage of Japan.

The giant tree, Ookusu, has stood for over 1000 years. It represents the flow of life energy: absorbing sunlight and distributing it to the soil for all of its life. It radiates strong spiritual energy. Many pray before it. I too was overwhelmed by its magnificence. Tht Atsuta Jingu enshrines Amaterasu; Goddess of the Sun. And it was very sunny when I was there.
Pandu M — Google review
Very local experience. There was basically no English and almost everyone there was Japanese. People visiting go there to pray and display Japanese tradition (throwing a coin, bowing twice, clapping twice, then praying) to receive blessings. You could also buy charms from this temple, which many locals do

Atsuta-jingu is a peaceful area in the heart of Nagoya full of natural beauty. All Shinto shrines honor nature and this one is must see as it houses one of three imperial objects - the sword. However, it is not on display. Enjoy a nice walk through its spacious grounds and don’t miss the cafe with some tasty delights.
Ray O — Google review
Came to Atsuta Jingu just to “check in” at one of Nagoya’s most famous landmarks, but it turned out more impressive than I expected. I am not usually into shrines, yet the grand architecture, with its strikingly large roof, truly impressive. The grounds are home to centuries-old trees, adding to the peaceful atmosphere. The shrine’s history stretches back about 1,900 years, and while the current buildings are reconstructions, they still carry a strong sense of tradition and timeless beauty. Many inner shrine areas do not allow photography, so please be mindful. Parking is free, with staff on-site to coordinate traffic.
Leh P — Google review
Beautiful shrine in a bustling city. And beautifully hand drawn goshuin. Please pay your respects first before requesting for a goshuin. Similar to Meiji shrine in Tokyo where you can also enjoy the grand forest before entering.

Experience Japanese culture, religion and history. Don't forget to visit the sword museum and lift up the big sword. I guess more than 20kg.

The Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology in Nagoya is a must-visit for car enthusiasts. Housed in a former factory, the museum showcases the origins of the carmaker and features exhibits on textile and car machinery. Visitors can explore a wide collection of classic and modern cars from popular brands worldwide, providing insight into the development of the automotive industry.
The Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology is a fascinating and well-curated destination, built on the very site where Toyota began its journey. The museum seamlessly blends history, innovation, and education, offering visitors a deep dive into both Toyota’s origins in textile manufacturing and its evolution into one of the world’s leading automotive companies. The museum is impressively large, with extensive exhibits covering a wide range of topics—from early textile machinery and the development of automated looms, to the progression of automotive engineering and modern robotics. Each section features detailed displays, original machines, and rich information that cater to both casual visitors and technology enthusiasts. A major highlight is the live demonstrations, which are held at scheduled times throughout the day. Skilled staff operate actual equipment—from looms to industrial robots—bringing the exhibits to life and showcasing the principles behind each technology. These demonstrations are both informative and engaging, making complex concepts easy to understand. There is also a dedicated kids’ area designed to introduce basic science and engineering concepts through fun, hands-on activities. It’s an ideal space for children to learn while playing, making the museum an enjoyable outing for families as well. Due to the size and depth of the museum, along with the scheduled demonstrations, it may take a few hours to walk through the entire space and fully appreciate everything it has to offer.

The Toyota Commemorative Museum is an outstanding place, full of fascinating history and hands-on demonstrations. We spent about 4 hours here and easily could have stayed longer—there’s so much to see and learn. The entrance fee is just 1,000 yen, and it’s worth every yen. One of the best parts is the free audio guide, which I can’t recommend enough—it makes the experience much richer and more engaging. The museum takes you through Toyota’s beginnings in textile machinery to its evolution into the world-leading automobile company it is today. The exhibitions are beautifully arranged, and the live demonstrations really bring the history and engineering to life. This is not just for car enthusiasts—it’s a cultural and historical experience that shows Japan’s spirit of innovation. If you’re in Nagoya, this is a must-visit!

Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology – Review The museum was spotless and very well organized, making the visit pleasant from start to finish. Everything felt high quality, and the exhibits were both interesting and interactive. I especially appreciated that all labels were translated into English, which made it easy to follow along. The staff went above and beyond — several employees took the time to personally explain the history of the cars, the models, and even answer specific questions in detail. The museum gives a precise and fascinating overview of Toyota’s history and how the company evolved from its beginnings as a loom manufacturer to becoming one of the world’s leading car makers. It’s a perfect place if you want to understand both the technology and corporate evolution of Toyota in depth. Highly recommended for anyone interested in industry, technology, or automotive history — even more so if you didn’t know Toyota started with loom machines like I didn’t!

Amazing place and history! Come and see this birthplace of the Toyota Group. I learnt something new here, about the changes in textile technology that underpinned the development of automobile technologies. They even had the exhibits and demos of actual machinery. You need to spend a few hours to have a meaningful experience tour at this museum. You could also get a free toy car as souvenir, ‘manufactured’ on the spot! The cafeteria here also serves some nice foods.
Bk1 — Google review
We truly enjoyed everything about this museum! It’s not just about cars — it beautifully showcases Toyota’s journey from textile machinery to the world of automobiles. The exhibits are interactive, well-organized, and full of fascinating demonstrations that bring Japan’s spirit of innovation to life. The staff are friendly and informative, and the atmosphere makes learning fun for all ages. Definitely a must-visit spot in Nagoya for anyone interested in technology, history, or simply great Japanese craftsmanship! 🚗🇯🇵
Lotiee C — Google review
This was so far the best museum that I've ever entered. I don't have any knowledge or interest in cars, but I really had a great time knowing the history of Toyota. I enjoyed watching the demos on how they assemble the cars. I really had fun. We got there by 3:30, and 1 hour and a half is not enough to enjoy the whole museum. I wish I could come back in the future.
Rhena Y — Google review
Really really amazing, but be ready for a how things work museum. The start of the museum starts with looms and cotton. Surprisingly I thought this was super interesting and more fascinating than the cars. Would not recommend for children though, top long and detailed. Amazing exhibits and lots of staff to talk through demos. They have a 5 tonne press!!

A museum dedicated to the Toyota industry. It turns out that they were not only involved in cars but also in weaving. In fact, they started with weaving and only later moved on to cars. The museum is divided into two parts - weaving and cars. An interactive museum, with detailed explanations and demonstrations. It is highly recommended to take the free tours in which the different parts of the museum are highlighted and explained. The museum is highly recommended to explore

The Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium is a modern facility that offers a diverse range of marine species, including whales and dolphins. Visitors can enjoy captivating animal performances in the massive 3,000-seater main pool. The aquarium's Journey to the Antarctic exhibition allows guests to explore the icy plains of one of Earth's coldest places. It is a popular destination for families with kids and marine life enthusiasts from around the globe.
This was taken last Saturday. In the middle of hot weather and jam-packed visitors, my friends and I enjoyed this place. The entrance fee is 2030 for adults. A lot of different shows to choose from but the highlight of them all is the dolphin show which lasted 20 minutes. Unfortunately, some of the shows have the same time as the Beluga and Tornado sardines so we chose to watch the Beluga show instead.

Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium @ Nagoya 🐬🐧🇯🇵 🗓️ Visited: 12:15 – 3 PM We spent a relaxing afternoon at the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium, arriving just after noon and staying until mid-afternoon. The aquarium is divided into two main buildings—one dedicated to dolphins, orcas, and other large sea mammals, and the other showcasing tropical fish, penguins, sea turtles, and deep-sea creatures. We caught the dolphin performance, which was exciting and fun to watch, and spent extra time at the penguin zone, where they waddled and swam right in front of us. 🐧 The massive tanks offered crystal-clear views, making it easy to admire the marine life up close. The facility is spacious, well-maintained, and family-friendly, with rest areas, elevators, and even a restaurant inside—perfect for a meal or snack break between exhibits. In total, we comfortably spent about 2.5 hours exploring without feeling rushed. 🧭 Tip: Check the show schedule in advance so you can plan your visit around the dolphin and orca performances, and consider having lunch at the on-site restaurant for convenience.

It was a hot Friday during the school holidays. It was crowded but everyone kept cool inside. The penguin viewing gallery was my favourite. The dolphin training show was excellent too. Overall a fun place to be, whilst keeping away from the summer heat.

I was not aware that this aquarium kept mammals as I planned a visit with the intention to see emporer penguins. I was shocked and saddened to see whales and dolphins swimming back and forth in spaces too small for them. The entire time that I watched them, they looked like they were "entertaining" the crowds by twirling and swimming upside down. One dolphin looked a little ill with skin conditions. While I was excited to see the emporer penguins, I was also saddened that the tank was pretty small and the few emporer penguins swam back and forth in the water the whole time, probably because the air temperature was not cold enough. The rest of the exhibits with fish, jellyfish etc. appeared fine and clean to me.

It is worthwhile taking a 30 min subway ride from Nagoya Central to visit the aquarium. Watching the dolphins performing and many sea creatures will certainly make young kids very excited and it is educational too.

Visited on a Thursday afternoon, it was not crowded at all. Actually quite impressed with this aquarium, I found it even more impressive than say the one in Osaka. Felt very wholesome, lots of variety. Not sure how this place fares on a weekend, but I'd say give it a shot if you're in Nagoya.

This is one of my favorite aquariums in Japan. It has a wide variety of marine species. The dolphins are very cute. The show is incredible; you can see the sparkle in the children's eyes and their smiles when they see the dolphins jumping out of the water and hitting the balls high above. There's a large shop for souvenirs. In the outdoor area near the aquarium, there's a shopping mall with great restaurants and shops. The port also offers a beautiful view of the boats passing by, great for taking photos. There's ample parking and the location is easy to access.

Noritake Garden is a historical site located on the former grounds of a renowned Japanese ceramics company, established in 1904. The garden features well-preserved relics such as old kilns and offers a gallery showcasing the rich history of ceramics production. Visitors can also engage in hands-on activities at the Craft Centre & Museum, where they can create and glaze their own ceramic pieces. Additionally, there is a shop offering various ceramic items for purchase as souvenirs.
A unique garden lined with red brick houses and a fountain. There is a museum or two here featuring pottery pieces, history, etc. One requires a small fee while the other has free admission. There is also a shop.

When I visited Noritake Garden in Nagoya, it felt like a little escape from the city buzz. The place is such a cool mix of history, art, and nature. The museum was a real highlight for me—it’s packed with gorgeous Noritake porcelain pieces that showcase incredible craftsmanship. It’s amazing to see how their designs have evolved over the years. The garden itself was so peaceful. I loved walking along the paths, surrounded by greenery and the sound of the fountain. It’s the kind of spot where you can take a deep breath and just relax. Close to Nagoya Station, it’s the perfect place for a mix of culture and calm. Highly recommend!
Fanny W — Google review
Only a fifteen-minute walk from Nagoya Station lies Noritake Garden, a quaint fusion of nature, craftsmanship, and history. The location, which was once the grounds of the Noritake ceramics plant, has a museum highlighting the company's rich porcelain history, a tranquil park, and wonderfully maintained red-brick buildings. In addition to taking part in ceramic painting classes and viewing exhibits of vintage Noritake pieces, visitors may watch craftspeople at work. Although it might get crowded on weekends and holidays, the garden provides a tranquil haven in the middle of the city. For both locals and visitors, Noritake Garden offers a fun and peaceful excursion with its blend of cultural events and peaceful green areas.
CVM T — Google review
My only familiarity with Noritake was my mother's china set in her fancy glass cabinet when I was a child. I was sternly told never to touch it, which of course, meant I took teacups out of the cabinet and flipped them over to see the Noritake logo. Luckily, my curiosity didn't cause breakage to any of the pieces. Truth be told, I didn't have a burning desire to come here. However, youthful YouTube vloggers convinced me a visit here might be worthwhile. My husband and I entered the grounds from the north side where a large lawn dominated the space which featured a fragmented brick wall mounted with celebratory plates. We were looking for an actual garden but realized they were talking about the landscaping, which we thought was well maintained but really at the level of a business park. We skipped the Craft Center since we're not the handicraft type, but we did appreciate the Noritake Museum which gave us a sense of the ceramics history that led to their leading reputation. The highlight turned out to be the store where a vast array of Noritake china was on meticulous display for purchase. The diversity and intricacies of the designs were quite impressive, and yes, I didn't break any flip over the plates to see the Noritake logo.

Very nice place to walk around and see plants in the greenhouse! There's a lot of different exotic fruits growing, and explanations for most of them. It only took ~40 mins to walk through slowly. The park shop is selling lots of fruit and food, we bought local peaches and figs. They also sell ice cream and fruit drinks that were very good 👍

Nice but average botanical park with more of an emphasis on fruit production and cultivation but only in the sense that it’s just orchards. Most people who we noticed today were here only for the sakura trees and picnicking rather than interest in fruit trees. The green grocer section was nothing special and prices were higher than supermarkets which is to be expected due to it being from botanical garden.

Museums
Nagoya City Science Museum, situated in the northern part of Shirakawa Park, is a seven-story building housing a massive metal sphere that hosts the world's largest planetarium. The museum offers interactive experiences such as simulating the climate of the South Pole at -32°C. While primarily aimed at children and teenagers, it also appeals to adults with its diverse exhibits on weather, biology, and electricity. Although most descriptions are in Japanese, English translations are available for some displays.
This was an interesting museum with exhibits on many sciences and how it's integrated into daily life. It's a big museum and has a lot of interactive exhibits. It was a bit overwhelming because I also got a ticket for the planetarium. Since the planetarium exhibit was scheduled and I was instructed to be there 15 minutes before start, I rushed through many areas. Most of the museum was multilingual. The planetarium announcements were in English, but the presentation was in Japanese only. It was interesting because the constellations and starmapping seemed to be different that what I'm familiar with in the west. They also seemed to focus on Australian skies, but still gave a good presentation about how the stars look from the world's perspective. From what Japanese I did understand, it was an educational presentation for older children and adults. The presentation was 50 minutes and was the best part of my museum visit. I was disappointed that the Museum Shop was closed because it was under renovations.
Sheldon J — Google review
I give it 4 stars for the planetarium!! The exhibits were a little old school, quite nostalgic of those I visited when I was in school (during the last century..) Still,a good place to whole way an hour or two! Don't bother with the show, unless you understand Japanese. It's like a PowerPoint presentation, telling the story in Japanese only. I really think the show needs an update...
Michael C — Google review
It’s an engaging and family-friendly place, especially great for children. As it was the weekend, it was quite crowded. For the planetarium, make sure to get your tickets early—otherwise, the best seats will be gone.
Taeho K — Google review
- The half of the exhibition for children: Oke, I understand this, they want more families there. - Just a few English caption: Oke, It is not too tourist friend, but I guess they want more Japanese people there. I can accept this. - They have an enormous observatory, and they show you a 50 minutes PowerPoint presentation, where a guy explain what we see on the pictures: What the hell? It is a wasted opportunity to amaze the people. It was so boring I slept through the half ( and I wasn't the only one ). You can't go out, and the best part, the "show" just 40 minutes, because the last 10 minutes is literally advertisement, where they promote their mobile app. It was a good nap, but never again.
Richard L — Google review
Loved this iconic museum and planetarium in Nagoya. The museum if 100% kids friendly, you will see a lot of families coming. The exhibitis are very interactive, and there is a planetarium with presentations happening often, which I recommend. I also attended a science demonstration aimed at children, which was very nice.

Good experience from this place. This building has 7 floor each floor separate by each item of science Physic , Chemistry , Biology , Space , History and there are lab , perform in here. Best science museum I've ever been to. Mainly Japanese so need a phone with a translator. There's also good exhibits for children and adults. The museum starts off more kiddy and progresses up floors with less exhibits for the kids.

plan to spend a whole day at the museum. Great stuff if you have kids with you. still a fun tour for adults as well. note that the planetarium is Japanese language only. it's better to purchase ticket online as the queue for getting tickets on a weekend can be quite long.

The Tokugawa Art Museum, situated in the historic Nagoya's Tokugawa Park, is a renowned institution showcasing an extensive collection of artifacts and cultural relics from the influential Tokugawa family. With over 10,000 pieces including national treasures such as samurai armor and Noh theater artifacts, it offers a fascinating insight into Japanese history and culture. The museum also provides access to the Hosa Bunko library which houses rare books from generations of the Owari Tokugawa family.
Since I liked Tokugawa Shogunate history, I was really happy to visit this museum. It has English explanation on each exhibit which was great for us foreigners. I bought the entry ticket in a bundle with the Tokugawa Garden ticket, and if I remember correctly it's about 1,500 yen. Be careful not to take a video because they prohibit you to, but taking picture is OK as long as you do not use flash and only use a smartphone. I recommend you to visit this museum if you like Japanese history like me.

Well organized museum and garden. Get the combo ticket to save a little. Also you get a discount if you bought the city tourist bus day pass. Some interesting pieces of history from the Tokugawa shogunate. Not a huge amount of, or variety of, content and so the interest may wane. Be careful to look for the 'no photography' signs before taking photos. I found myself noticing the sign after I took a photo (phone, no flash) of some incense drawers. I didn't get in trouble but I felt like a pirate afterwards. Carefully checked after that.

Great place to trace the history of Toyota, from their automobiles all the way back to their textile origins. Be intrigued by the scale of their manufacturing processes, all the way back to making all the parts and components from scratch. Lots of antique cars to their latest models, hybrids, and conceptual cars. Lots of visitors participation’s activities, guided tours, or simply wandering around to take in all the sights and history. Certainly a great memorable experience and should never be missed when visiting Nagoya.

Purchased tickets upon arrival. First big stop in Nagoya and it did not disappoint. Went early to try and avoid crowds and even when it got busy, still not too crowded. Such a cool collection of cars from ALL manufactures, not just Toyota. Must stop for anyone remotely interested in cars of any type.
Ryan L — Google review
Great collection or cars displaying the evolution and the history of motor cars. Staff at ticket counter spoke English as well which made it all very easy! Stand out for me was the prototype LFA Spyder (one of two). Definitely worth the visit for this alone!
Mackenzie R — Google review
The museum was a bit far from Nagoya’s center, but we had a great time. Be sure to follow the correct order of the museum, as we accidentally went backwards because the flow wasn’t very intuitive, especially on the first floor. I wanted the museum to be solely focused on Toyota, but it also showcased other car brands.
A M — Google review
An amazing museum with collection of cars from around the world-not just Toyota. Really a history of the automobile, with many rare examples. Highlight is the collection of artifacts, we ended up spending an hour just browsing. If you like cars or car culture a must-see destination. Good curry in the restaurant too!
Elbert L — Google review
This museum is incredible. There is much more than just Toyota's here. If you're interested or looking for something to do for a car enthusiast, I highly recommend going here. You can see Toyota's history and lineage since it's beginning. There are so many rare vehicles here it's awesome, almost like setting in a time machine and seeing these vehicles right off the assembly line.
Dustin N — Google review
Brilliant range of cars (not just toyota) showing the history of the automobile industry in japan. All exhibits are translated to English so very foreigner friendly. Not crowded even on a holiday and easy to access via train. You also don’t need to pre-book tickets so great to kill a few hours time while you’re visiting Nagoya. A must for any car nerd visiting Japan

Tsuruma Park, located near JR Tsurumai Station, is a historic public park established in 1909 and celebrated as one of Japan's top spots for cherry blossom viewing. The park features a beautiful cherry blossom forest, ponds, tennis courts, and gardens. It offers visitors the chance to experience the cherished Japanese tradition of Hanami, or Cherry Blossom Viewing party.
Went there for 花見 (flower viewing 2025). Although the place was filled with people the park was really nice. Definitely would go there again on a day with fewer people. It's a good spot for flower viewing.
Ranitha M — Google review
We went at the end of March 2025, which was unfortunately a little too early for the full bloom. Regardless, it was still pretty and I could tell that this would be a good location for cherry blossom viewing. They cordon off the hanami areas, where many people will be picnicking. However, they leave a trail in the middle so that you can still walk through and enjoy being in the midst of the flowers. There are numerous food trucks selling festival food. Overall, you can have a good time here admiring the cherry blossoms.
Nicole C — Google review
Visited on Monday 7 Apr 2025. Sakura in shades of white and pink in full bloom besides Tulips! Lively atmosphere even it’s Monday. Enjoyed Hanami activities.

Clearly labelled sections with different flowers blooming at different times of the year. It’s a nice walk around, prob best early morning or in the evening when the sun isn’t so strong.

A dreamland! Beautiful around all the seasons, day and night, evening or morning and, even in rainy days Tsuruma park never fails to amaze me. As my campus is just beside, the Nagoya University Hospital, almost every day I cross the park, enjoy the quiet ambience and filling myself up with peace! Oh, try to come during sakura season. One of the best sakura in Japan blooms here. 🌸🪻🌷

It is a beautiful park which is tastefully adorned with flowers, trees, bonsai with a lovely pond and thematic gardens and plots. Every view is picturesque and weather although warm and slightly cloudy. Great place to visit in Nagoya City!
Calvin H — Google review
I was in Nagoya for 2 days and one night and decided to visit this park it’s about a 30-minute train ride from the city and the station that you get off is across the road from the park, there were quite a few visitors to the park despite it being a very hot day. I decided to walk the perimeter of the park and watching that I would follow the shade. The park is a nice escape from the bustle of the city, I enjoyed the tranquility of the park and the beds of roses and somewhat dense areas where it nearly felt like walking in the forests. Unfortunately, that time of year some of the settings were without water but it was summer, I enjoyed taking many pictures to view later. The center piece of the park is the fountain, it seems the crows were enjoying the cool water, if you are in the vicinity of this park, it is worth taking a look at, you could lose an hour or so here easily but I do suggest to go in any season other than summer for obvious reasons, follow the walk trails, sit at certain spots where there are stone cubes to sit on as well as the park benches.

Nagoya's Meijo Park is a charming fusion of nature, history, and camaraderie. This vast 76-hectare park, which is situated directly north of Nagoya Castle, provides a calm haven from the bustle of the city. The park, which was created in 1931 on the site of the castle's Ofuke Garden, offers contemporary conveniences along with a touch of history.  Ofuke Pond, one of the park's most notable attractions, provides stunning views of Nagoya Castle and is particularly captivating in early April when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. The park also features a Dutch-style windmill encircled by colorful tulip beds, giving the Japanese environment a distinctively European touch. It is a year-round destination for nature lovers and photographers because to its seasonal flower displays, which include rose arches and wisteria corridors.

Mazak Corporation is a small private museum located in Nagoya, showcasing an elegant collection of French paintings from the 17th to the 20th century and exquisite French furniture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum's interior is designed to resemble the art salons of those periods, creating a charming atmosphere for visitors. In addition to its permanent collection, Mazak Corporation also hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year, offering a diverse range of artistic experiences.
I really enjoyed going here, and it was well worth the 1000¥ to go. Had a wonderful display of French art and furniture. Audio in English included with tour. My only improvement would be that on the 4th floor numbers are actually in order.
Madeline U — Google review
I went to the Tomoko Fuse origami exhibit and it was great. The museum displayed her work really well.
Tommie B — Google review
The collection is fantastic but what's up with the audio English guide? It's the most dumb dumb guide I've ever heard. There's like a brilliant captivating abstract piece that's done with wild inks I've never seen in some hybrid neo modern impressionist motif and the guide is like "a blue sky and a red house is depicted on an open field! The house is a common 19th century cottage from the Scottish Highlands in the center of the frame. Puffs of smoke pour out the chimney. *Beep*" And you're like "wait what? That's it?!" It's like a brilliant exercise in trying to miss as much as possible yet still arguably be accurate. Just replace it, instead with interpretive experimental music for each work. That'd be amazing
Christopher M — Google review
Had a brilliant experience here. Admission comes with a free audio tour, which has been done really well. Learnt a lot and will definitely be back. You aren't allowed to take photos of a few of the paintings. This caught me out once, and the lady had to stop me 😬

Located in Nagoya, the Arimatsu Narumi Shibori Tie-Dyeing Museum offers an intimate space to showcase the traditional Japanese tie-dying craft through demonstrations and displays. The museum provides a comprehensive insight into the art of shibori or tie-dyeing, featuring galleries that narrate its history and local artisans demonstrating the intricate process of creating these pieces.
The ladies who worked here were very accommodating and kind. It was not expensive to enter and we got to see the craft in action. A lovely shop downstairs with handmade goods.

Very interesting. Magnificent tie n Dye products. Really impressed by the intricate processes and the dedication and hard work of the craftspersons
Sekhar V — Google review
A great (although quite small) museum for those interested in handicrafts. The video upstairs is a must, and I really appreciated the two ladies who were there doing the shibori-tying as a live show, and you could see the process with your own eyes. What I would add to the museum shop, if possible, is to sell scraps of fabric with the different shibori-tying methods for DYI projects. Now the shop just sells ready-made products or vastly expensive rolls of fabric. I managed to find some from the surrounding area shops, though, although for a non-Japanese they were a bit hard to spot, even with the official shop map, since they didn't always have clear signs, display windows or other ways to spot them easily.
Anniina K — Google review
A very nice place to experience one of the traditional japanese crafts. Aside from enjoying the goods on the store, you can also watch experienced craftsmen working real time, as well as some detailed video explanation about the Arimatsu Shibori craft. Great concert hall. I saw Lovebites here. The sound was okay. It was standing tickets on first floor but there were seats on second floor. Easy accessible concert hall. Only about 15 min walk from Nagoya station. Well organized entry. Lockers for jackets, small bags etc. It should be easy to find hotels nearby, if you want to join a concert here.

Have been to bigger venues with better design and sound at public schools but since this is a chain venue and has partnerships with the Japanese record labels it hosts the usual J bands that make the circuit of their venues. On occasion they do have overseas bands come which are more than capable of filling stadiums but instead get stuck in this glorified stage venue.

The club features three main rooms: the top 20 DJ room, the hip-hop room, and the EDM room. Additionally, there's a sophisticated VIP area on the 12th floor that offers a relaxed atmosphere.
It was my first time there and I was very happy. I went to see コドモドラゴン in concert. The sound was really good and the avenue is pretty cool. I hope I can come back again. It's easy to find, just go to 8F.
Maribel R — Google review
Been there for Angra. The band rocked the place, brillant performance. A relatively small venue for live performances. I don't know if it is the case for all performances but sound settings for the instruments were too loud, we hardly ever heard the vocals. I don't know if that was the band's preferance but as my personal opinion, volume for the instruments should have been set at least 15% lower so that the overall sound is balanced better.
Ozan K — Google review
I saw Amaiwana and Ginger Root play here in early 2023. Even though I was standing in the back section, I still felt like I was super close to the band, so definitely points for intimacy. Not a huge fan of the one drink minimum that's not included in the ticket price, but whatever, can't have everything. If I'm passing through Nagoya, I'll definitely see who's playing and go again

It's above PARCO, but there are several PARCO buildings, so if you don't know where it is and go there right before, you might panic and ask "Where is it?", so it's better to check in advance. It's above the East Building. If you line up, you line up on the stairs. You can use the PARCO facilities to use the restrooms beforehand, but be careful as there are few floors with restrooms. Drinks cost 600 yen, cash only. The lockers are on the floor above the reception floor and can be used before the doors open, but I've never used them because I was scared. I think the coin lockers at Yaba Station, which is directly connected to the underground, are safe. 300 yen, cash only. The stage is three-tiered, so it's easy to see.
