Nature & Parks
Located in historic Church Hill, Libby Hill Park offers scenic views of Richmond's skyline and a variety of activities such as benches, tall trees, and a bike trail. The park is perfect for a picnic or for taking in the sights from atop one of Richmond's hills.
My daughter and new son in law got married here recently. What a beautiful spot overlooking the city of Richmond and the James River. The fountain is a beautiful centerpiece in the park. Grab a picnic lunch and a blanket and enjoy the view!

Libby Hill Park: A Richmond Gem with Breathtaking Views Libby Hill Park is an absolute must-visit for anyone in Richmond, Virginia, and for good reason. While it's a lovely park in its own right, it's the views that truly steal the show. The panorama from Libby Hill is, simply put, stunning. You're treated to a sweeping vista of the James River as it winds its way through the city. The "Over the River" view, as it's famously known, offers a picturesque scene that looks like it's straight out of a painting. You can see the cityscape of Richmond spread out before you, with its mix of historic architecture and modern developments, all framed by the river. It's the perfect spot to take in a sunset, enjoy a picnic with a view, or simply pause and appreciate the beauty of Richmond. The way the light plays on the water and reflects off the city skyline is truly magical. Beyond the views, Libby Hill Park offers a pleasant green space to relax in. But let's be honest, those views are the star attraction. If you want to experience one of the most iconic and beautiful sights in Richmond, Libby Hill Park is the place to be. Highly recommended!
Briana O — Google review
This park is an absolute must-see! It offers a stunning view of both the river and the city skyline, the perfect spot to relax, reflect, or snap a few photos. There’s plenty of seating throughout, so it’s easy to find a peaceful place to sit and take it all in. Highly recommended!
Mona — Google review
Popular spot, but for a reason. Great views everywhere you look. Great for watching sunsets, picnics, and dog walks. One of the best places in the city for sunsets! But it can get busy around that time, so come a little early!
Chris S — Google review
Nice area to sit and enjoy the view, walk the paths around and see the nice views of downtown and the river. It is the view that earned Richmond its name! I also love the view of the Lucky Strike smoke stack!! And if anyone is insane and wants to train stairmaster style, there are super steep stairs up and down libby hill. Luckily, you can just drive and park at the top.
Angela B — Google review
Great location to view the sunset/ moon. Definitely recommend getting there at least an hour before sunset as parking is limited although there is street parking. Depends where you sit you have a vire of the city highrise or river as shown on the picture. Limited picnic tables, recommend bringing an outdoor blanket etc for comfort
Rebeca C — Google review
A beautiful park. The view looking down from the park was amazing. It was perfect for a walk with my dog, and the fall vibes made it even better. We parked on the street, one disappointing thing was that it was very difficult to find a public restroom.
HJ C — Google review
Haven't really explored the park part of this beyond the awesome views of the city but the stairs are my main reason for going and let me tell you those stairs kick your butt! I have noticed that this park is usually very clean too.

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is a year-round destination featuring over 50 acres of themed gardens, dining options, and a classical domed conservatory. The garden offers a variety of attractions including a cherry tree walk, rose garden, children's area, and educational programs for all levels of gardening enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy events such as the Virginia Daffodil Society Show, spring and fall plant sales, and a holiday light spectacular in December.
This was a great place!! So much to see, I will definitely be going back!!! Bring water, the vending machine had a hard time taking cards, which is all they took!!! They were on the opposite side of the park!! The walk ways are very easy to walk on, very well maintained.
Karen C — Google review
The gardens are beautiful. I was very impressed by the size of the gardens as well as how well everything was labeled. There were also interesting art pieces displayed throughout. While I do not have children, there were lots of play areas and even a little water sections that would be perfect for children. Be prepared to walk a lot as there is a lot gardens to see. My only complaint would be that the butterfly conservatory was completely closed but it was the same price. I feel like that is a bug part of the experience so if it is not opened, they should adjust the admission price.
Margaret F — Google review
What a gem! Had the lovely opportunity to visit the gardens and discover they were hosting a concert the next day — so fun! Incredible section for children and families. Pond is a great spot for taking some Time to see what’s swimming around. Quite a bit of construction at the moment, which didn’t interfere with the enjoyment of the gardens.
Katie H — Google review
We had our Elopement Ceremony at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden on 5/5/25, and it was truly amazing! The entire setting was like a dream. The gardens were bursting with vibrant flowers in full bloom, creating the most beautiful and romantic backdrop for our vows. Everywhere we turned, there were gorgeous spots perfect for photos, which made capturing our special day so easy and memorable. The staff at Lewis Ginter were incredibly helpful, kind, and professional from start to finish. They answered all our questions promptly, helped us plan the details of our ceremony, and made sure everything went smoothly on the big day. We felt so well taken care of, and it allowed us to fully relax and enjoy the moment. I absolutely loved having our wedding here and can’t recommend this venue enough to anyone looking for a stunning, peaceful, and unforgettable place to say “I do.” Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden made our elopement everything we dreamed it would be!
Jessica B — Google review
August 2025 Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is beautifully maintained, with a nice variety of flowers, plants, and walking paths. It’s a relaxing place to spend an hour or two, and there are plenty of benches and shaded spots to just sit and take in the scenery. The themed gardens and water features add a nice touch, and everything feels thoughtfully designed. KID FRIENDLY! The Children’s Garden is a hit — with a splash area, play spaces, and sand box. It’s a great stop if you’re in the Richmond area and want to enjoy some fresh air and nature.
Jennifer J — Google review
The botanical garden in Richmond is a must-visit! It’s incredibly spacious—you can easily spend several hours exploring. There’s a beautiful variety of plants, including lots of dragonflies fluttering around and a stunning collection of roses. The grounds are peaceful and well-maintained, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. They also have a large café and a great gift shop with plenty of unique items. If you're visiting Richmond, this is definitely one of the top attractions to check out!
Alice R — Google review
It was a lovely garden, with benches along the way to pause throughout the journey, and there was a treehouse for kids. The paths were quiet and the wind chimes added to a peaceful vibe. For people allergic to bees, the rose section was a bit overwhelming. We were a bit bothered by the noise of the construction taking place in one area of the garden when we visited (April) and I also didn’t like that the maps were only provided for members. However, the gift shop was larger than expected and full of a variety of beautiful items, and the beauty of the space brought joy to my day.
S M — Google review
Took my mom here for her birthday as part of a Richmond trip. It rained for the first few minutes of our trip but once the rain stopped, the grounds were so pretty. I particularly enjoyed some of the shaded walking paths with streams and huge bonsai!

We had an awesome tour of the capitol given by Sasha. She was very informative. So much history she gave us. The tour was over an hour so please allow time. She told us about the old city hall next door which has been renovated recently. We did. You’re only allowed to tour the first floor which was beautiful. The grounds of the capitol are also beautiful.
Mike M — Google review
We were recently in Richmond and had to add the state capital to our list of places that we wanted to stop and visit. We weren't sure if we could enter or tour, but we tried. We found the security guards to be extremely friendly and helpful. It was a wonderful experience, and we were able to go on a self-tour since we were limited with time. We were told we could join other timed tours, which was great. At many places we visit, we have to wait for the tour, but at the capital, we were free to go ahead at our pace. Loved it!

This historic site offers a captivating glimpse into the past. The complimentary tour provided an enriching experience. The knowledgeable guide demonstrated exceptional expertise and answered all inquiries with enthusiasm. The hour-long tour was highly informative and provided valuable insights into the Capitol’s rich history. The visitor center entrance to the Capitol houses a gift shop that offers a selection of snacks for those seeking a quick repast. Throughout the tour, there are designated stops where visitors can pause to immerse themselves in the captivating history of the Capitol. All in all, it's a must visit for any history buffs in the area.

Reception and security were all very welcoming, pleasant, and engaging. I walked in to the tour & information office at a very quiet time but they were willing to provide a 1-on-1 guided experience which was awesome. I had the pleasure of touring with Mr. JC Bussard. He is a wonderful custodian of history and was great to interact with and ask questions throughout. As a plus there is no charge to the public. Score!
Christie M — Google review
Beautiful park! The locals seem to use it as a place to “touch grass” during their work days as there were mostly business dressed people walking around staring at trees (we went on a Monday). It’s very well kept and there’s a ton of shade if you go when it’s hot out(it usually hot out). Not much to do but it’s a nice place to see.
Mike B — Google review
A very beautiful & Historical building. Free entry . They have tours and a very dedicated officer explained us full history related to this monument. State capitol is Very well maintained building in heart of Richmond city.

Sasha took us on a 2pm tour on a Saturday and was so informative and kind! I learned about the capitol’s history, the revolutionary war, and Virginia state legislature. It was a really interesting fun free thing to do on an afternoon in Richmond. Perfect rainy day activity.

I absolutely love this spot. My favorite chill spot. I go to walk and listen to nature. Have a Soul Ice (water ice) and tacos in the summer. And go on a relaxing hike in the winter breeze. The new staues are AMAZING! We have come so far and have so far to go.

Great outdoor concert venue. Definitely worth buying the upgraded tickets for The Rapids section. Park in the Fed Reserve lot and buy Fast Entry…these extras will make your visit even more enjoyable!

Concert venue, could use a big screen Tron to bring it into the 21st century. High priced beers, water, Food – what you expect but really? Lawn seating only.
Don M — Google review
We had a great visit to Browns Island and the Canals. We also walked over to the James River and the bridge that crosses over. The historic bridge when General Lee left Richmond is a reminder if the storied past. If we forget our mistakes of the past, we are destined to repeat them. God bless America 🇺🇸.
J R — Google review
Brown's Island provides one of the best views of the city by far when you get across the bridge and climb the stairs (or take the longer route that is dog friendly). It was a little disappointing how little was actually on the island when you get all the way across the bridge, it pretty much just serves as a link between mainland and mayo bridge. One thing I would like to see more of over there are porta potty's so you're not sprinting back across Potterfield bridge to pee!

Cemetery
Sights & Landmarks
Hollywood Cemetery, known as one of America's premier garden cemeteries, is a picturesque resting place for many historic figures. Established in 1847, it was designed in the pastoral style to resemble a pleasant park rather than traditional graveyards. The cemetery offers dramatic scenic overlooks of the city skyline and the James River rapids. It is the final resting place for notable figures such as presidents James Monroe and John Tyler.
This is one of the most beautiful and historical cemeteries in the country. It is a great place to visit and reflect upon our short time here on this earth. People today do not talk or even think about death and their own mortality. A person has a much better perspective on life if they do. I would highly recommend visiting this special cemetery and appreciate the beautiful mausoleums and tombstones throughout the hillside.
Jenny B — Google review
This beautiful cemetery offers ample parking, with additional street parking available nearby. Enter through the cemetery gates, go down the hill, and the parking lot is to the right. The best view of the park can be found near Monroe’s mausoleum. The cherry blossoms here are stunning. The park is quiet, peaceful, and perfect for walking.
Kaitlin W — Google review
Peaceful walk… Hollywood Cemetery is a nice spot to walk. The cemetery is big and hilly, offering great views of the James River, downtown Richmond, and a calm environment for exploring its historic grounds. There are different sections to admire the monuments and gravestones, and enjoy the scenic beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Debashri M — Google review
Beautiful cemetery that has many historical figures and interesting items to see. It was peaceful and quiet. You can easily drive through and follow the blue line on the road as a self guided tour. There are parking areas on the drive or just pull off to road side if you see something interesting. The overview of the river Beautiful.
Mike S — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking. Very peaceful to walk through and spend time admiring centuries of craftsmanship, masonry, and ancestry. Sits overlooking the James River rapids with beautiful trees across the property and the city skyline in the periphery. Lucked out and had 3 whitetail deer stroll alongside me plus a tattered Monarch land on the mausoleum of President Monroe. A beautifully preserved venue that is both humbling and unexpectedly inspiring. I’d consider this a must-see in the Richmond area! There is a lot to explore if you want to walk. Quite a few graded hills so wear comfortable clothes and bring water, a light snack.
Christie M — Google review
This place is rich in history and beauty. An active cemetery and resting place of Soldiers, two presidents, and many loved ones with a few well knowns sprinkled throughout. Overlooks the James River,

My husband does Way mlMarking which is an activity which is kind of tied into geocaching. It's locating interesting places. Cemeteries have lots of interesting historical places to waymark. So I've seen a lot of cemeteries. This is one of the top three cemeteries I've ever been to. It is absolutely beautiful. There are so many old trees and interesting structures and memorials. I love the fact there's no plastic flowers or decorations. We met the gentleman who gives the chores and spent time sharing the history of the cemetery with my husband and it really made the visit all that more interesting. We'll be going back soon and next time we plan on taking the tour. It's well worth the visit, even if you're not sure you're into cemeteries. It's just a beautiful place.

Their ciders range from refined Champagne-like expressions to innovative experiments with dry hopping, smoking, and oak aging. Located in Scotts Addition, a vibrant warehouse district turned into a hub for beverage enthusiasts, the cidery shares its neighborhood with multiple breweries and even a meadery.
Cute new location, a little off the beaten path. Does not have the biggest parking lot lots of yummy drinks to choose from alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Very festively decorated for the holiday season. Very comfortable place to bring in food or games and just to hang out and have a yummy drink.

We hosted a baby shower Blue Bee, and the experience was absolutely incredible. From start to finish, the venue exceeded our expectations. It was spotless, well-organized, and had the perfect atmosphere for our gathering of around 50 people. A huge shoutout to Mackenzie and Taylor—they were both spectacular! Their support and coordination throughout the planning and setup made everything smooth and stress-free. They were attentive, professional, and genuinely a pleasure to work with. The cider selection was also top-notch—definitely a hit with our guests! If you’re looking for a unique, clean, and well-managed space for your next event, I’d highly recommend this brewery. It’s the perfect spot for any celebration.

I love what they have done to this place. Cozy, bright, warm colors. It has a brewery smell when you walk in the door. Smells like heaven. The cider is delightful. There is a cider club. I highly recommend joining it. I have been a cider club member for over ten years. Bring a friend, have a cider, a snack and prepare to gab.
Jennifer Q — Google review
I’m not sure where to start.. The staff was friendly and very helpful arranging everything for our wedding. I couldn’t have asked for more. Mackenzie was amazing to work with and she was so thorough with all the little details from something as simple as table cloths to making sure tables were rearranged at the correct time. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and speaks for itself, our family and friends loved it. The wines and ciders we had were great, we most definitely got a few extra bottles to take home with us afterwards. There are multiple options with weddings or any other event at Blue Bee Cider which my husband and I thought was great as we did have a smaller wedding and a full buyout would’ve been more than what we needed. The location is great as well, I believe our hotel was less than 15 minutes away. This worked out very well as we had family and friends coming in from out of state. Also there are so many places for beautiful photographs at the venue and right outside the venue. 10/10 recommend Blue Bee to anyone who is looking at have any type of event as they do have the different event spaces available.

Went for an afternoon tour and cider tasting - fantastic! I’ve been on a few cider tours and Blue Bee Cider has some of the most interesting and delightful ciders I’ve ever had, something for everyone’s palate. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and personable (and fun!) They have a great outdoor space, with a cheese shop (making grilled cheeses) in the space, cool merch and an overall great, friendly, local vibe. I would highly recommend to tourists and locals.

There is an organ that is played by Bob (something like 1 of about 20 people in the country who can play it). It's really cool how it comes up out of the orchestra pit & is attached to other instruments like a harp, piano, & drums. All in all it's worth a visit.

Wow, seriously stunning theater and the organ performance at the beginning was worth the $9 admission alone. I loved my time at the Byrd and Loving Vincent was amazing. The theater is old and they are raising money to replace the seats. I cannot wait to come back and I admonish you to visit. You will not regret it. We just found street parking. Credit cards are accepted but incur a fee.

Beautiful Theater, All the details made the theater have a soothing Ambiance. It was also an honor to The First Lady Suzanne Youngkin there with my dear friend and Advocate Sarah McFarland

I’m glad I came to see a movie here during my visit to Richmond. The theater is impressive and has the look of an old French opera house. They include a live organ performance with the $9 ticket. The projection and sound aren’t modern, but that’s expected for a place like this. It’s not about high-end tech. It’s about watching a movie in a place with real character. Worth a visit.

The Byrd Theater remains spectacular! A true gem of the city. I brought a film buff friend from out of town who was blown away by the space as soon as we walked into the screening room to the sound of the organist playing, our popcorn and cans of rosé in hand from the concession.

Wonderful old movie theater in RVA, a true city heirloom. Comfortable seats, fun performance from an original Wurleitzer (sp). Shows am amazing selection of movies, old and new. We should never lose this gem, Richmond! Always worth a visit, Richmond❤️

Byrd Theater is the coolest! It’s such a special thing we have here in Richmond. Such good movies, engaged audience, and of course the fabulous organist. Story Time at the Byrd is also a lovely monthly kids event.

The most beautiful movie theatre I’ve ever been too. Bob Gulledge on the mighty Wurlitzer before the film is an experience in itself. They play the classics and introduced me to many great films I had never heard of.

The Science Museum of Virginia is a top destination for science enthusiasts, featuring interactive exhibits and live demonstrations. Housed in the historic Broad Street Station, the museum offers hands-on experiences exploring topics such as space, human biology, and environmental science. The museum's location in a neoclassical building adds to its charm, with permanent and rotating exhibitions covering a wide range of scientific subjects.
My family visited the Science Museum of Virginia on a Thursday mainly to see the dinosaur exhibit, and it exceeded our expectations! I’m a 52-year-old woman and I was completely in awe! The detail and scale of the dinosaurs were incredible. My husband and teenage daughter were equally impressed. The exhibit was immersive, educational, and beautifully done. The museum overall is clean, well-organized, and full of hands-on experiences for all ages. It wasn’t overly crowded, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable visit. Very easy parking, too! Highly recommend!

The best science museum we’ve went to so far! Many interactive activities, musical, art, educational, physical exercise, mind opening and many more. Specific activities geared towards younger kids and others towards teens. As a parent I enjoyed myself a lot, too. Clean, friendly staff and well organized. Paid extra for the dome movie/show and the dinosaur exhibit. Both worth the extra money. Be sure to look at the daily schedule so you can get the best out of your visit. You can easily spend 3 hours there and even more if you have very curious children. Buy tickets in advance so you get discounts if you are adding exhibits or the dome. Highly recommend!

My husband and I recently got married at the museum. It was only the second venue we looked at, but we were so confident about it we booked it on the spot! He was excited by the SR-71 and the trains out back, and I loved the beautiful architecture. The Special Events Team, especially Shannon, sealed the deal for us. They were very responsive and professional and they entertained our bold ideas. Guests were able to enjoy the interactive Speed exhibit during cocktail hour, we were able to have portraits taken all over the venue, a robot drew our initials and an outline of the SR-71, and we were able to customize the space by removing the center pendulum and adding additional lighting. Our special day was truly one of a kind! During the wedding, Shannon made sure everything ran smoothly. I saw her assisting the lighting crew, the caterers, and the planners, as well as her staff. I could not recommend this team and venue enough!

The Science Museum of Virginia was such an amazing experience for our whole family. Right now, they have the dinosaur exhibit, and my kids were in awe. My son couldn’t stop staring at the dinosaurs, and my daughter loved reading about the different species. The rest of the museum is just as exciting there are interactive exhibits on speed, light, and so many hands-on activities that kept the kids entertained for hours. The LightPlace for kids 5 and under was perfect, and they had a blast climbing and exploring there. I thought the Forge was such a cool idea where you can actually bring your own supplies and use their equipment. Between the insect and reptile exhibits, live bees, and other science displays, there was so much to see and do. We actually left for lunch and came back later in the day because there was just that much to explore. It’s definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Loved this museum. This is the first science museum we've been to where everyone enjoyed themselves. There's things for all ages, we especially the music activity in the Boost exhibit and the ultimate dinosaurs. It wasnt overly crowded and the prices are very reasonable. Only wish the snack bar had more offerings but that was by no means a show stopper. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Loved it! we will go back!

A recent trip to the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond was an absolute delight, offering a captivating blend of education and entertainment that truly impressed me. From the moment we stepped inside, the vibrant atmosphere and engaging exhibits promised a memorable experience, and it certainly delivered. One of the undeniable highlights was the dinosaur exhibit. It's not just a static display; these incredible prehistoric creatures are brought to life through impressive animatronics, showcasing their movements in a way that's both realistic and awe-inspiring. Watching the "dinosaurs moving the dolmen" – a fascinating reference to their potential interaction with ancient structures or simply their powerful presence – was a particular standout, sparking wonder in visitors of all ages. Be prepared for an active visit, though! The museum is expansive, with multiple floors and a vast array of exhibits to explore. Comfortable shoes are an absolute must as you'll be doing a lot of walking to take it all in. Every step is worth it, however, as each turn brings new discoveries and interactive displays. Mid-visit, the concession area was a welcome find. It offered a nice variety of options, from quick snacks to more substantial fare, all served efficiently and with a friendly smile. It was the perfect spot to refuel and recharge before diving back into the scientific wonders. Finally, the parking situation was remarkably convenient. There's ample dedicated parking available on-site, making arrival and departure stress-free – a significant bonus for any popular attraction. Overall, the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond is a fantastic destination for families, science enthusiasts, and anyone looking for an enriching and enjoyable day out. With its dynamic dinosaur displays, vast exhibits, pleasant concessions, and easy parking, it's a place we'd highly recommend and look forward to visiting again.

It’s a great place to visit but some stuff needs to be worked on like labs doesn’t look like lab, it’s literally a part of zoo. And forge department need some deep changes. This is very great building and I think it should be used to its full potential.

It's a great museum for kids. We came here a couple of times. Now the multi leveled parking garage is done, it makes things a lot easier! The most recent visit we made was to see the dinosaur fossils. My kids had a great time.

Agecroft Hall & Gardens is a stunning Tudor mansion and estate located in Richmond, Virginia. Originally built in the late 15th century in Lancashire, England, it was disassembled and reassembled at its present site in the 1920s. Visitors can take tours of the lavish manor house and explore its picturesque gardens. The estate also hosts various events including The Richmond Shakespeare Festival, offering performances in the courtyard of the authentic 16th-century manor home.
We spent several hours inside and out of this impressive transplanted Tudor mansion. Very impressive wood work and craftsmanship in the mansion. Lots of little details brought to life by the staging of some rooms. I found the attached kitchen to be the most interesting. Small little hidden stairways so that the staff could move throughout the house. Pull chains and bells located in interesting areas. The massive library was also very interesting. Containing lots of period books that you would find in a well established estate. The grounds were also very well maintained and have lots of impressive trees. I was impressed with several very large magnolia trees. The herb garden smelled wonderful. Overall this was a highlight for the day.

First time at Agecroft- a friend and I came for a weekday evening event. Only got to explore the grounds and gardens this visit, but it was very beautiful. The large magnolia trees are amazing! I'll be back in August for another event, when I hope to see more of inside the building and to walk the trail along the river.

One of my favorite sites to visit in Richmond. During the holidays they also offer really fun activities and events for kids. They also do dreamy weddings here. You feel like you’re stepping into a fairytale and it really feels like you’ve traveled back in time to Europe. Such a gem in Richmond.

Calling all mansion and garden tour enthusiasts! What a wonderful gem in Richmond where you can see classic Tudor Style and beautiful gardens. We toured at opening on a Sunday and were greeted by super friendly staff who exuded passion for the home. Small fee to tour the home and the the gardens are free. Also, military service members are free which was 5 stars right away. You can spend an hour or an entire afternoon here with a self guided tour of the gardens and house. The staff gave a brief but very informative introduction to the home and then allowed you to explore on your own with tour guides stationed throughout different rooms. A small but great gift shop filled with treasures. We look forward to returning in the Spring to see the tulips, per one of the guides recommendations. Easy to find, plenty of parking, if you’re visiting in the summer like we did, the house is air conditioning which gives a nice break from exploring the grounds.

Went here on Mother's Day and had a fantastic time exploring the gardens and home. The Tudor mansion was beautiful and well preserved. The craftsmanship and history is amazing to learn about and see. The gardens were small and delightful, many plants to enjoy that you wouldn't really see elsewhere. The manicured grounds are open and inviting; they encourage you to bring your lawn chairs or blankets and have a picnic! There are some trails which we did not explore yet, (due to my broken leg), but I look forward to coming back to see where they lead!

The words to describe Agecroft Hall and Gardens won't do them justice, but I'll try in grand hope that others will carve out time to visit and experience these gems in Richmond, VA. I attended a 3-day TUDORCON conference there in early October. The Agecroft home is literally a transplant to America from England in the early 1900s. Think of TUDOR style, including the amazing wavy leaded windows. The interior has been put together to represent the period and for those who study this history, get ready to be wowed. DO the tours of the house and gardens, and if timing is right, go to an event there! We had lutist Ronn McFarlane playing period music, seated outdoors in the early evening. Fabulous! ENJOY!

I haven’t been inside the museum because we came here for the Shakespeare play but I will need to visit again for a tour. How amazing it is to see a huge Tudor era mansion in the US! Seeing a Shakespeare play in this setting was really cool. We enjoyed ourselves greatly. But the play was 3 hours long and the bleacher seats were super outdated and the last hour was not the best because of that. They added a lot to the play, which can be expected but it still felt to be too long. Still really glad I went, but important to keep in mind if you plan on coming.

Great tour. Went for Richmond Concert Band and worth going for a great setting and venue. Band was great. Wine available and excellent. Would not recommend the ice cream truck as I could not score a 5 due to only three flavors available to what is on their menu and very soft and melting when served. A total difference from the high level of the rest of the event.

Shyndigz is a popular dessert spot in Richmond, known for its elaborate cakes and pies made from scratch. The portion sizes are generous, with slices about four times larger than standard servings. Located on Cary Street, this bustling yet quaint eatery offers high-quality desserts and a rotating menu of specialty cakes. Shyndigz is locally owned and features multi-layered cakes on their everyday menu as well as daily specials.
Come here for the cake! We tried the Cookie Butter Cake and the Sootted Cow Cake. Both were delicious with hefty portion of frosting. We got the small sized slice and they were so filling we couldn’t eat the whole thing on our own! Additionally, the store is cute and offers other items like plants and decor. The market also prepares cocktails however we did not try any.

This charming dessert has such Richmond vibes. The line was insane when we arrived so we knew it would be something special. The interior had a cool little shop to browse while waiting to place your order. Might have to go back and do some shopping! We ordered the Butterfinger Pie and the Fresh Fruit Cake. Oh man, they were heavenly. Highly recommend- though it was so hard to choose! There were a lot of options. While the service and food was great, it was very squished when it came to seating. There really weren't many tables you could sit down and enjoy your treat at. I know they're working with the space they have, but it's definitely a gamble on seating. Will be back to try more!

This gem is a must visit when you're in Carytown. My husband and I decided to stop in and pick up some treats to take home with us from a brief stay in Richmond. Inside not only did we find some delectable treats, but they have a wonderful eclectic mix of gifts for children and adults. So if you're looking for a baby shower gift or a housewarming gift this would be a fantastic place to check out.

Everything you heard about this place is pretty true. Tasty desserts and interesting decor, combining food/dessert/drinks and even in door trailer. Only reason I gave it less than 4 stars is the price. Sure with everything in this world suffering from inflation, I still think a tiny piece of brownie should not cost over $7.
Jerome M — Google review
This is a place I want to like but still find myself not enjoying. For people unfamiliar with the space they have a split counter/ ordering situation. I am not entirely sure what can and cannot be ordered at each counter. There is limited indoor seating, which is supplemented by outdoor seating. The times I've been here it's been very busy and there is no clear paths or directions, which makes it confusing and overwhelming visitor experience. Their cakes are really good and the portion sizes are huge, but there is also a price tag associated with this. For our Americano and our Irish coffee it was $20. It was another $20 for a meal. The slice of cake I want to say was around $7 . I've only had their cakes, which are pretty good, but according to the friends I was with the food looked really good but was only okay. I want to like this place but there are just some improvements that could be made to make visitor experience better.

I've had a lot of homeruns from Shyndigz. I love their oreo mocha pie, their banoffee pie, their bonaffee cake, and their oatmeal cream pies are the best in Richmond, hands down. There have been a few things I've had from them that I wasn't crazy about, but that all boils down to preference. Overall, an excellent place to go for desserts.

Shyndigz is a MUST any time in Richmond. My wife being from the area, her favorite dessert in the world is their Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake, so we make a point to come here any time we’re in town. I’ve gotta say, I’m a big fan myself. Lots of delicious well made options and they’ve got you covered whatever your preference is. On top of the delectable sweet treats, there is always service with a smile and an enjoyable atmosphere with cool other merch to purchase. Whether you get something to go or enjoy their patio area to dine in, you won’t be disappointed.

This chic haunt boasts a stylish ambiance and serves up a fusion of contemporary New American and Mediterranean cuisine. From Papri Chaat to Red Pepper Scallops, their menu features an array of small plates that cater to various dietary preferences including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.
Kabana hosted our high school reunion. Private area, dedicated bar, and under the stars. Service was excellent from the initial planning until the end. Food was very good. Drinks were excellent. Highly recommend for private event.

Went during happy hour, and the place was pretty dead. Outdoor seating is nice with a nice view, but there is no warmth provided during colder evenings. Inside had loud music. The place looks nice inside, but like on a lower budget. The window walls has the ability to open completely to make the indoor space also outdoors. It's probably a lot better during warmer months to visit.

The views are just just Amazing of Richmond from the rooftop. Its located on top of a hotel, so you have to enter through the lobby and use the C evaluator to get to it. We have been here a few times, once for a Yelp party, once we came to watch a rocket launch, a birthday party and then to grab a bite last night. It's a great bar scene. It had a bar on the inside, but it not overly large inside, a few tables. The outside is where you want to be. They have a bar outside as well, with sofa seating all around, then some high chair seats as well. Last night was the first time we really got food and wasn't overly impressed. We ordered the crab and artichoke dip and parmesan fires. The fries were very soggy and lacked much taste. The dip was ok, but the chips were so soft and limp, you couldn't use them to get any dip, so we had to eat the dip with a fork. Tonight has been the only time we've been there that is wasn't packed. Its usually pretty popping. Staff has always been good and our bartender Issac tonight was no exception. Definitely if you're looking for a cool bar with great views of the city and a little different, its a good place to check out.

The atmosphere was all the way there. I’m sad it rained and we couldn’t sit on the rooftop but the view was absolutely stunning. Initially our server was super busy with a party.. who literally was being inconsiderate of other people. I feel so bad for her, as everytime she went over there someone complained about something, or needed something even after she asked multiple times. Not to mention they were extremely loud and obnoxious and, very rude to her. Two of the managers had to help her with the rest of her tables and this specific table! So I will say kudos to everyone involved for showing excellent customer service to everyone even after being faced with adversity. I say the drinks were very very good. My only downside is that the salmon was over cooked and flavorless as well as the mashed potatoes. However after taking everything home adding a little olive oil and garlic I enjoyed the meal. My shrimp were so big and delicious! And my homegirl got the wings that were amazing!!

Great views of downtown and a lot of seating options. We didn’t dine here, just came up for a drink before heading down to the rooms. I’m a huge fan of frozen drinks and they make theirs from scratch. They were really good. The bartender seemed knowledgeable. Gratuity is included so be aware of that. Good overall experience.

The view...AMAZING! The service...AWFUL.... I made a 7pm reservation for 4...I walk in alone close to 7:05 while my husband parked the car. I obliged the sign dictating to stand close to the bar for seating. There was an older Caucasian couple in front of me. A young woman who was casually dressed up came to greet the couple asking if they had a reservation. They stated they did not and she proceeded to walk them to a table and pull the chair out. Meanwhile, I'm still standing there watching her have a short conversation with the couple; move another table and wipe it off, put some chairs up to it, go to the back of the restaurant, come back and, never address me. I asked the bartender if she was coming back to assist me as I had a reservation and, he said; "she should be over shortly!" After waiting almost 10 minutes...I approached her explaining that I figured I'd address her since apparently she didn't see me standing in the arranged area to be seated. I explained I had a reservation for 4 and she acted as if I was bothering her. She told me the area was open and I could find somewhere to sit. I explained that after making a reservation, I would expect that a seating arrangement would be waiting for my party...she gave me a blank stare and basically just nodded. After walking around the area, there was only 1 table with 4 chairs and a high table top bar like area looking over the city with 3 available chairs, and all of the kabanas. I went back to her and asked her about sitting at the Kabana...she said, "if you would've been spending $350 you could've sat there. I must have given her a look because she then asked if we were planning on spending that amount to which I responded...probably would've exceeded the amount particularly with the tip. I just walked away and chose to sit at the area overlooking the city. There were not a ton of people there but, it took soooo long for drinks and food to reach the table. We were patient as we understand the labor shortages. I ordered the lamb shank which was like butter! It was so soft and delicious. My husband and his friend ordered the ribeye, one medium and the other medium-well. They were both flavorless and overly well-done. My husband ate 1 bite of his and shared my dish with me. He told the waitress but there was no compensation of any sort. The manager never even came over to apologize for the time it took or the lackluster dishes. It took almost an hour to get the food and at least 20 minutes for each drink order. At the end...our bill was $240 and we tipped the waitress $60 as she was at least personable. Our friend's bill was close to $200 and they too tipped well....I understand there are other rooftop experiences that may not offer the view like this one but, has better service. I'll try those ones the next time we go instead of this...

*WEDDING VENUE REVIEW* The venue itself is beautiful. Great place for a wedding or corporate event. Fairly priced packaging. However, my experience with Kabana’s team was not worth the money I paid. The day of the event was great. However, the music situation was a bit bumpy because music is controlled in 1 part of the venue only and from what I understood, they needed to control it aka you give them a playlist. I was less than satisfied with the customer service throughout the entirety of planning and felt like I communicated that in a fair way. From the start, the original coordinator made multiple key errors on the contract that I had to go over and double check 3+ times. She was replaced midway through. The next coordinator was very nice but I had to have talks with her regarding her communication window and getting things done that I had gone over and included in emails such as getting clarity on the food amount, not knowing that the ENTIRE outside area of the rooftop wasn't included in what we paid for (this might have been a miscommunication but both my coordinator and I thought it was the entire outdoor space), the 2 months it took to figure out if there were white curtains in Kabana's possession, etc. I do appreciate Kabana working with me when my cashier's check never was delivered and I had to wait 90 days for my money to return to my account. That was very helpful!! As a project manager, I understand that things don't always go according to plan and that I wasn't the only event for Kabana but for $5,000 spent on 1 day, I expected much more. I had to keep following up with the venue. My wedding day was beautiful but I wish there wasn't such a headache to arrange a fairly simple day (compared to most weddings).

Beautiful museum. It was built in the 1920s by John Russell Pope, architect of the Jefferson Memorial in DC, for a prominent Richmond family. If you take a tour you’ll learn how the home was used by the family. The galleries display art which is related to design. There is also a lovely garden which is open to the public as well. Parking is on street parking on Monument Avenue.

A small but beautiful museum with rotating exhibits. The building is a treasure with interesting features inside and out. There is a small garden in the back with historic and modern sculpture. The current exhibit is on women's rights in modern poster art. Simply a lovely place to visit.

This building is one of my absolute favorites to gawk at in Richmond. I see new details and quirks every time we go by. We usually pop in to see what exhibit they have, and we love that is it free. We always enjoy the exhibits, however we wish their exhibits had to do with some sort of architecture. The name is definitely confusing, and with only 3 rooms of the actual home to explore, it is a slightly underwhelming experience as an architect lover. I am grateful it is at least open to the public though, and the garden is beautiful!
Madaleine M — Google review
The title is really mis-named. It's not an architecture museum at all and there is little in the way of design. The bulk of the displays are about BLM and Black contributions to America. Price is a "suggested donation" of $5. I was going to give this a lower rating...but then a very nice lady came and showed me around the historic home, pointing out features and history and giving me a really personalized experience. I would be much happier if they made this more of a historic home tour because it is a really awesome building.

Came here once years ago and recently remembered it. Thought we should come here again and try what they have. It was a wonderful experience. Great variety of wine. They had a salsa event going on and it was fun sipping on the different types of wine while watching the people dance. We also got a salmon crostini, cheese plate and fruit plate. Their plates are fantastic. The cheese plate had an excellent variety and the salmon on the hard mini bread was great too. Fruit plate was especially nice with Brie cheese, strawberries kiwi, blackberries milk and dark chocolate.

Such a neat place! Came here while I was visiting Richmond, and really wish that there was something like this closer to home. They had an amazing selection of wines. I could spend some serious money in here if left alone. The atmosphere was very comfortable. I like that you have the option of doing a 1, 3, or 6 oz taste of a wine. This way if you find you don’t like a particular wine you aren’t stuck with it. While we were there they were having an open mic night which was fun. (There's also a small beer selection for your friends that don't like wine) I love that there are so many different varietals and price ranges. You have three size options when tasting by the glass; prices for each option are clearly displayed. You can also buy wine by the bottle. This is the perfect opportunity to try higher end wines if you aren't sure that it would be worth the splurge to buy an entire bottle. Also nice to try unknown varietals or blends that take you out of your comfort zone. There is a wine and a price range for everyone. Was excited to also find some Virginia wine options. The cheese platter and olive tray were a perfect addition to the wine tasting. Very generous in size, quality and flavor. Of course, I love the wine, but I've also been thinking about that cheese board all week. It might just be the craving that gets me back there sooner than I anticipated.

Great place to taste a bunch of wines and a few beers. Though small, Richmond Wine Station has a great and cozy atmosphere. Snacks are available. The outside are is nice but the area to sit in is not very large since RWS has to share the space with Three Notch'd. Definitely worth a visit!!
Kevin W — Google review
Well, this is definitely a hidden gem. The staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable. They were doing tastings when we came so even more options to choose from. I believe that anyone can find a wine that they like here (or maybe two or three). I love the prepaid card that allows you to pick which wine you want and how much you want to drink. Beyond the vast selection of wine, their food blew me away. They had probably one of the best cheese boards that I have ever had. Plus, the price was very reasonable. Definitely coming back

Coming from New York , it was awesome to experience such a fun place. I wish we had some at home! You get a card, put it in each wine you want to try, like a slot machine card, and taste as many wines as you want! You can have a sip sample. Or 2,4,or 6 ounces. We would have loved to spend more time but the seating was very limited and we had to stand around. Would have loved to try their foods. Hopefully next time! I met the owner and he is really friendly. 👍🍷

Nice place to visit after work with co workers and just relax! I didn't give 5 stars because of the young lady giving samples of wine. She seem irritated in helping the guests. Since she was rude to everyone I didn't take it personal! But I would go back just skip her if she is serving wine samples again.
S. J — Google review
This is a conceptual wine shop that allows for tasting by the glass as well as purchase on site. Everyone I was served by was knowledgeable and friendly. It is a very popular site so be prepared for a wait during peak times, but it is worth it.

Celly hands down was AMAZING. She spent an hour assisting me with products in the store. Celly also checked me out and wrapped every glass item carefully. Celly was extremely polite and helpful and patient with me. Ensuring I found everything I needed. Berry was extremely polite, efficient and knowledgeable. She knows where every product is on the floor. I was so impressed. I know the Tariffs are coming but these three especially Josh need a raise. The store Manager Josh was extremely professional, polite and extremely patient! I am an interior designer and was shopping for 5 hours. Josh and all his staff were extremely helpful. Even down to making sure my business was registered at the store for the Boss perks. Thank you store #62

Huge choices available on just about everything for your home ! The Halloween decorations are there now and the choices are great ! I always love At Home for Christmas decorations too. Prices are very reasonable. One staff member was a bit rude to me but I ignored it,..I had a good visit so wasn't wanting an argument lol

This store is such a cool find!! They have an amazing selection of furniture (especially mid-century and modern). I could spend hours in here exploring. Huge selection of art and anything for the home. The prices are really good also.

At home store is an awesome decor store. They have all kinds of decor for indoors and outdoors. They also sell mattresses and plenty of other stuff for the home. This is an awesome store. If you get a chance, you should stop by. They have everything from rugs to vases to pictures for your walls and much more. I love this store.

My first time coming here and they have so much stuff to look at! A bit pricey on some items. But definitely alot of things to choose from if you need something for your home. Cons: The bathrooms were very dirty & very slow lines.
Amber — Google review
I'm changing my mind about this place. When I first visited there a couple of years ago I thought it was very overpriced but due to inflation their prices seem to be in line nowadays. We did pick out a tree there and we absolutely love it. They seem to have a lot of Christmas stuff and people are willing to wait in line between half an hour and 45 minutes for the single checkout lady to check them out. It always seems to be like that when I go here. I'm not sure if they're just trying to get me to pick up more stuff on the way to the cashier or if they're just trying to make me upset and not have me ever come back.

Came here to buy birthday presents. I was looking for pillows for outdoor furniture and I was very happy that they were listed as 50% off. I went to the register to pay for the pillows and a few other items. I noticed that the pillows were charged out at regular price. I asked the person at the register if she could verify. She called someone on the radio and they told her that "certain" pillows were marked down. I went back over and took pictures of the signs. These marked down signs were everywhere for at least 4-5 aisles. She called a manager and we walked over to look. There is 1 end aisle with pillows (right in the middle of ALL of the aisles filled with pillows that were on sale). She told me that one particular area was not part of the sale. If that's the case, why would they put it right in the middle of four aisles with pillows that ARE on sale. I'm not usually one to complain, but it was a $28 difference.

Live music venue
Nestled in the heart of Richmond's vibrant Shockoe Bottom neighborhood, The Canal Club is a charming bi-level venue that exudes character with its rustic brick walls and lively atmosphere. This no-frills bar is a hotspot for music lovers, hosting an array of live performances throughout the week. From hard rock bands to energetic DJs, there's always something happening at this eclectic spot.
Shows here are always a blast. The staff and security are fantastic. This is one of the best venues I've been to as a wheelchair user.

Very nice scene and the food is cheap and delicious, we saw an awesome band named Colorblind
Marc Q — Google review
Great venue. Full disclosure we only go to all ages shows. I'm well past my concert prime but my kids are just hitting theirs. The Canal Club is great. I grab a booth in the back while they enjoy the show. Security is SUPER awesome about not letting kids go in and out without an adult so we don't have to helicopter over them the entire show. Food and drinks are way more affordable then I expected and it's good fast order food.
Marv W — Google review
Great small venue for shows!!! Staff was friendly and food was a good value!
Michael A — Google review
We enjoyed attending a First to Eleven concert here. The ticket price was very reasonable. Since the venue was smaller than many we were able to get much closer to the performers which was a plus. The staff was friendly and the food offerings were better than expected for this type of venue. We especially liked the security guy who was very personable.
Theresa H — Google review
This place is top notch. Nothing but good bands, good drinks, and good people. What else could you ask for? Upstairs or downstairs, never a bad seat in the house. What a great show we just saw 9/19/2025
Instagram F — Google review
Cute fun and simple little venue (we went to the second floor). Had a great time with my friends and there was plenty of parking all around. The security was fast and easy to get through. The only slight iffy thing i had about it was the attitude of the bartender towards my friends and I. Other than that the club itself is very nice 🕺🏽 they also had little stands to buy trinkets and cool stuff
Tati A — Google review
Shows were good. Staff/security were basically useless. Tons of stage dives with no concern for people’s safety until they already got hurt. I got stage dove on while looking the other way, staff didn’t check on me at all — the poor girl next to me got flattened to the floor.

Thunderbolt Indoor Karting is the ultimate destination for thrill-seekers and families alike, offering an exhilarating indoor go-kart racing experience. This venue caters to everyone, from juniors to adults, making it perfect for birthday parties or a fun day out with friends. What sets Thunderbolt apart is its climate-controlled environment and electric go-karts that ensure a smooth ride year-round.
Great facility. Quite huge actually. Staff are friendly. Kind of pricey, but they do offer specials during certain hours and days. The website have those times and days along with the prices. Your first time there tho they offer you a discount of $17 for your first race. They also have shoes for rent for those who come in flip flops or sandals . Shoe rental I think was $3. Also being able to ride is based on your height not age. You must meet the height requirements to ride.

I initially wanted to book a birthday party here for my grandson so I called for over a week left voicemails, contacted them via Facebook and emailed them to give a deposit and set the date as we were traveling over an hour to get there. Needless to say no one ever returned my call, answered my email or saw my Facebook message. Being frustrated I decided to call another indoor track in Portsmouth, Va that was closer and a Godsend!! They booked my party for 15, let them have two races each (more than this place and cheaper too) upgraded our track for free, supplied the room, food & drinks, all the paper products and let the boys play pool for free! They treated us like royalty and provided a host to cater to our needs! It was the best party I have been to and they booked it within 24 hours. They also had the absolute best haunted house next door that I’ve ever been to! Do not bother with a company who can’t be bothered to answer the phone, much less return a call, an email or FB message. Call Le Mans in Portsmouth instead! It will be worth your time I promise!
Tweet T — Google review
They were running behind, but that's ok. My only real complaint is I wish better maintenance would be done on the karts. The gas place (it's admittedly been a few years) definitely knew which karts were better and not finicky. I'll keep going back though in the hopes done real enthusiasts start working there. The staff was very nice and one girl even remembered is from last week.
Matt P — Google review
Visited tonight, but didn't get to race. They had us thinking we could go race after we filled out waivers, because track was completely empty. Just to finish the waiver on computer and they tell us it's a 50 minute wait. Maybe I'll give them another try but this time was very unsuccessful

My oldest had his 14th bday party here. Turned out great. Awesome event! Clean and spacious space. Logan was our party attendant and she was Great. 2 races..pizza/ cake in the party room. Then tokens for games. Medals was given to the top 3 racers. This event was well worth the money! Will return.

Great girl's birthday spot. A lot of perks for the cost. Daughter still talking about how much fun it was. Her friends continued going afterwards.
