Italian restaurant
Prezzo Italian Restaurant East Grinstead is a casual dining chain that offers authentic Italian cuisine and impeccable service. Their menu includes stone-baked pizzas, classic pastas, and a separate kids' menu. The restaurant also caters to gluten-free diners with a variety of options. Located in a suburban area on the outskirts of East Grinstead, it is easily accessible from the main A22 and just 15 minutes from Gatwick Airport.
Outstanding food and excellent service by Tom. A lovely clean and spacious restaurant in a really great location. The food arrived quick was hot and very tasty. I'll certainly return when next in East Grinstead. Highly recommend in all aspects.

We recently dined at Prezzo in East Grinstead—perfectly situated right in front of the town centre—and had a truly lovely experience. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made everything feel effortless, especially since we arrived just after the lunch rush, giving the place a calm and relaxed vibe. The food was delicious, and the modern décor paired with a comfortable yet stylish atmosphere made it feel effortlessly welcoming. It’s the kind of spot that works for an easy catch-up or a casual family meal. With gluten-free, vegan, kids’, and vegetarian options available, it caters well to diverse tastes . Overall, a very enjoyable meal with great service and a pleasant ambience—definitely worth a visit when you’re in town.

The food was brilliant and the service was fantastic. The family and I had a wonderful time and our bellies are completely full. Katelyn our sever was brilliant, friendly, polite, attentive and professional. I would certainly come back to East Grinstead Prezzo and I hope we get to be served by Katelyn again, as she was great. Thank you so much

Really love the atmosphere, staff, and food. They made us have a wonderful time and service was quick and good. Birthday well spent. Thank you.

Food was amazing, from starters to pudding. Service was delivered by Sean Elliot and was impeccable. Delivered with humour and a smile. Excellent all round. We wanted to leave a tip for the great service but had no cash and no facility when paying the bill, so apologies for that. Great service should be rewarded. Great evening. It was also my birthday, so it was nice to have had this service today. Thanks.

Stopped by East Grinstead to check out the town as considering moving there. Had dinner in this lovely Prezzo where the service was excellent, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Right in the heart of town couldn’t ask for more. The waiter got a food order wrong but it was quickly recognised and amended, very happy, will 100% be back 🙂

We had a lovely experience at Prezzo in East Grinstead. The food was delicious, freshly made, and arrived promptly. What really made the visit special was our waiter, Sean – he was friendly, attentive, and made us feel really welcome throughout the meal. His service was excellent, and he had a great balance of professionalism and warmth. Highly recommend this branch if you’re in the area – great atmosphere, tasty food, and brilliant service. Thank you, Sean, for making our visit so enjoyable.

Went into Prezzo’s East Grinstead this evening. In the past I have ordered Calzone in other restaurants which were stuffed with meats and vegetables. This Calzone had in all 5 pieces of pepperoni, a few bits of chicken not even a quarter of a breast, two slices of pepper and tomato sauce with very little cheese. It was mostly pastry, which was burnt on top. So very disappointing for £18. Our server was Sean, who had lovely manners and was very respectful. He appreciated our views and kindly deducted the Calzone from the bill. You have a good employee who listens to the customers. Whoever appointed him made a good choice. He also helped me down the steps as there was no handrail to hold onto for disabled people.

Absolutely stunning! This place is like stepping into a dream. This place is beautifully decorated, creating a captivating atmosphere that transports you to another world. The food is incredibly fresh and delicious, and the coffee is truly exceptional. Best of all, the prices are very reasonable. A must-visit experience!

I called to see if it was possible to have 30+ people turn up for evening drinks for my 30th. The team there were so accommodating and allowed us to set up decorations and have food etc if we wanted. The space was great because it was all open. I’d been before in the day for coffees but it was such a lovely atmosphere in the evening with the bar. Highly recommend if you want an evening drink and for gatherings!

Great vegan burger! The decor is beautiful and the staff are lovely. And best of all, it is very dog friendly.

Relaxed, comfortable restaurant with friendly staff. The vegetarian flatbread was delicious.

What a great little place. Genuinely. Went there for a meal and a pub quiz and loved both. Plenty of selection on the menu, and the food was tasty and good value. Staff were friendly and engaging, though you have to order from the bar or a QR code, so be ready for that. Pub quiz was fun, despite my team coming second. There's always next time. Which I'll be looking forward to!
Darren A — Google review
The design of this restaurant is a work of art! It’s very comfortable and tastefully designed. Love the way the chandeliers have been done, and the artwork on the walls is impressive. Lovely couches for coffee and chatting. Atmosphere is very pleasing. Low lighting also appreciated. The service was okay. Pleasant and friendly. Food came fast. I had an all day breakfast, slightly modified. It was not the best tasting breakfast, and I would not order it again. So food for this visit was disappointing. The menu is full of different dishes to try, so maybe better luck next time.
Perske — Google review
The food was lovely, the staff were amazing and the music was fantastic. Asked about who was the DJ, but was advised customers could pick (although the staff were choosing at that time…great taste in music!!!). Only issue/recommendation, was slightly annoying having to get up and pay every time we wanted something. Would have been much easier to give us a bill at the end of our visit, but aware that was outside of the staff’s control. Apart from that, was fantastic!

Trawlers Fish & Chips in East Grinstead is a delightful find for anyone craving classic British fare. Nestled conveniently near other eateries, this spot boasts a pristine environment that sets it apart as one of the cleanest fish and chip shops around. The menu features freshly cooked meals, with perfectly battered cod and chunky chips that are sure to satisfy your taste buds. While some may wish for crunchier chips or larger portions, the quality remains top-notch.
Great fish and chips! Service was fast and friendly, the fish was fresh and good prices too! Highly recommend!
Ellie-Marie D — Google review
We tried lots of fish and chip shops within East grinstead and nearby. I found a Trawler when I was stopping for Thai food take away just a few meters from it. It looks new and I promise I will come and try. The place is clean. I think this is the cleanest fish & chip shop I ever visit. Food was good. But.. The portion of chips are less than other shop. Wish that the chips more crunchy. It's fresh cook chips. Will come back again. Place is convenient and easier to get car park.

Brilliant food, brilliant service! Fish was fresh and not too oily. Homemade tartare sauce was great. Would highly recommend to anyone.

The food is always delicious and fresh. The chips are the best I've ever had, and the fish? Wow!! They have money saving offers on meals and family bundles which are a big win, and the staff are always friendly and helpful.

Restaurant
Nestled in West Sussex, The Cat Inn is a charming 16th-century village inn exuding character and warmth. With its wooden beams, crackling fireplaces, and mix of airy and cosy dining areas, this establishment offers a delightful ambiance for both locals and visitors. The inn's landlord, Andrew Russell, brings professionalism and a natural flair for hospitality to the forefront.
We came to the Car Inn for the first time with my partner and mother in-law for a Sunday meal. Food was absolutely beautiful, stunning flavours and great portion sizes. I had the Lamb scotch egg, just wow!! Cooked to perfection and tasted out of this world. My partner had the chicken terrine which was full of flavour and my mother in law had the muscles which again were so full of flavour and big portion sizes. We followed with a roast, port and beef and it was cooked to perfection. 10/10 for everything even the service we had was just fab and everyone was so kind and friendly. Nice cold white, sitting in the garden on a beautiful day with our little pooch who also was given treats by a lovely waitress. Can't wait to come back again, huge compliments to the chefs in the kitchen and all front of house staff. Lovely afternoon well spent.
Gemma T — Google review
1 review just now New Shame I can’t give a ZERO star rating!! We have never complained about the food as we were regulars at The Cat..however a few months back we had some food and it wasn’t good at all! We didn’t say anything as we went there regularly and knew the staff well. After at least 6 months we decided to give it ago again and was hoping for a good lunch…this time but it was even worse, it was so bland and no flavour whatsoever. When we complained to the Manager Andrew, he was so rude and disrespectful to us he then put his hand on my husbands arm and said “look” my husband didn’t give him a chance to speak after grabbing his arm and said to him don’t touch me! my husband then offered to pay for some of the meal and certainly for the drinks but Andrew basically told us to leave. Sadly I do not feel this is a Michelin rated pub as it was supposed to have been some years ago and I honestly feel that this pub is very overrated for the service and their quality of food, and you can get a lot better for a lot cheaper in the other local pub just a few steps away around the corner as well as the other amazing pub and food in Turners Hill Which is where we have been eating regularly over the last year or two. This pub is on a seriously downward spiral and it is time for the owner to give it up and as you can clearly see on other peoples one star reviews about this place and Andrews awful attitude in his response to his customers if there is a complaint. Andrew does not have any customer service or people skills whatsoever and for such a lovely pub in a lovely area, this really needs to be taken over now by a proper landlord that will serve consistently good food and serve a much better service and also better caring employees. As far as we are concerned we feel Andrew is so behind times and old-fashioned with his menu service and times have moved on and yet the menu is still pretty much the same as it has been for the last seven years, whereas other pubs we go to in the local area who do much more different food on regular intervals and they give a much nicer service & experience. In fact the chicken had so much almost boiled fat on the skin that my husband actually spat it out and threw it in the bush for the birds !!! So Andrew if you want to see how awful your food was then I suggest you take a Quick look on your CCTV at my husband doing this!! And it was supposed to be nice crispy skinned chicken. I have now started to make a formal complaint to Michelin about this restaurant.

We love the Cat. It comes highly recommended. The food (dinner and a more than excellent breakfast) is absolutely great. We loved the staff, they are so friendly, interested and helpful. Very sweet also to our dog. The room we stayed in was extremely comfortable. Five stars or more 👍
Annette G — Google review
Thank you so much for helping to arrange a surprise birthday dinner and stay for my partner. Andrew is a fabulous host and his team are so welcoming. Everyone in our party commented on the amazing service and fabulous food which is becoming rare to find nowadays. We stayed in room 3 with a beautiful view of the church. A compact room but very comfortable. Every little detail had been thought of. Thank you to all of the team for making our stay and evening special. We will be back again!

We had the most amazing dinner at The Cat, the food as always incredible with really good seasonal specials, amazing puddings and a delicious soufflé! Thank you to all the team for making us, as always, feel so welcome, phenomenal service. We will be back!

We stayed at The Cat Inn whilst visiting Gravetye Manor. The pub itself is a 30ish minute walk to the manor. The pub is very welcoming and looks like a classic British pub with a modern twist. Staff were wonderful and very accommodating. We stayed overnight and the room was excellent. Very clean and tidy and it had everything that you could need. Our room has a view to the Church. Food at The Cat was excellent. We had both breakfast and dinner. I would highly recommend.
Max B — Google review
What a wonderful stay at The Cat. We were warmly met and showed to our room which was beautiful. Sweet little touches such as apples from the garden. Dinner in the evening was nothing short of delicious. The staff were knowledgeable and gave recommendations of dishes which didn’t disappoint. The whole pub feels like a big warm hug the minute you step inside. We can’t wait to return.

Nestled on the outskirts of Ashdown Forest, The Old Dunnings Mill is a charming 15th-century pub that offers a delightful blend of British and European cuisine. This inviting venue serves breakfast and afternoon tea, making it an ideal spot for any time of day. Guests can enjoy live entertainment while savoring award-winning beers in the spacious garden or cozy up by the open log fires inside.
This pub/restaurant is excellent. It’s spacious, with cosy nooks and crannies as well as a large outside area. The building is picturesque, prettied up with flowers and hanging baskets, especially near the entrance. This area features a water wheel and a flowing stream. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food is very tasty. We visited from outside the area due to the consistently good reviews, and we weren’t disappointed. It was a Friday night in August, so quite busy, but this didn’t affect the excellent service. Parking did seem limited, but we managed to find a space.

Nice setting for a pub, always space inside and space in the car park. Not the biggest selection of beers, but enough if you're only popping in. Had a late lunch here with the family the other day - food was great! Unfortunately not everything on the menu was available and the wait time was quite long. But overall, a good enough experience!

Lovely atmosphere first time I’ve ever been to this pub roaring 🔥 fire made for such a cosy atmosphere nice bar staff. Cocktail menu went there with all intention of eating unfortunately the kitchen was not open 😱😥 🍽️. So disappointed on that part. There was a pool table and good music selection toilets where clean and tidy there’s a good sized car park at the back of the pub unfortunately it’s pay and display but after 6pm it’s free 🥳.

Came here on Sunday lunchtime and ordered a roast beef and a katsu chicken burger. Didn't have to book as it was not very busy. Staff were very friendly. Food came quite quickly and looked fine. Chicken burger could have done with more chicken pieces in the katsu sauce and 2 onion rings was a bit stingy. Pub was clean. Overall nice.

Great venue, great service and great staff! Booked a big family Christmas meal here for 30+ people and at no stage were we rushed. The staff were amazing and very accommodating to all. The food was lovely however, could have been slightly hotter, but we did ask them to wait for 15mins before serving and no complaints due to the size of the party/group. Will definitely be booking here again and would recommend to everyone for a great atmosphere. Nothing was to much trouble. Special thanks to Darren and his staff for a very enjoyable afternoon!

Staff here always welcome you like you've been here 100's of times. Full selection of any drink you can think of, great fast service, nice long bar. Great pool table, clean toilets, and plenty of different seating areas. The fresh snacks they offer such as their chilli bites are great with a beer. I've never been to this pub and felt that it was too loud or rowdy, a very nice environment.

Greene King food has gone downhill fast. We used to love the value you got for the quality offered at Green Kings. We visited this one the other day and noticed immediately that the prices were pretty high. We had 3 small plates, crispy Squid, (tried to get halloumi but they didn't have any, surprise! A Greene King missing menu items! 🤔), cod bites which were alright but not incredible, and the strange Asian chicken stuff which had a really horrible sauce on it. We also bought a bacon cheeseburger that had no bacon in it. No discount offered, we were told we'd get extra onion rings but didn't get any extra at all. The burger was completely overpowered by the cheese that was so strong and so powerful that it nearly made me sick. The beef was drowning in grease and was tasteless. What a disappointment. It's completely put us of going to Greene King pubs now. £42 for three small plates, a burger that we shared and two drinks. All of really poor quality, missing parts and not compensated by any extras. Poor experience

Staff super friendly really welcoming, and good banta. Had the mussels, crab, clams in sweet chilli. It tasted fantastic but the crab claws were not of great quality and very dry. But the taste and service did make up for it slightly. This is no where near a complaint it's passing comments and I would recommend this place.

First time for food, always struggled to get a seat in this place as it’s always very popular. I had the Steak Benedict, wasn’t massively impressed but the others enjoyed their meals and had no complaints. It does feel quite clicky in here at times, however I have been for drinks and the guys behind the bar are very accommodating and make excellent cocktails!

I recommend this excellent restaurant. It will make you feel like in Spain. Their dishes are typical and full of color and flavor. The attention is unbeatable and the flamenco tablados they present make the night unbeatable. 100% Guaranteed.

Nestled at the top of East Grinstead's bustling High Street, The Ship Inn is a charming pub that has stood the test of time. Recently refurbished, it beautifully blends traditional English pub vibes with a touch of modern elegance. Known for its delightful menu featuring classic dishes like Sunday roasts, this local favorite offers a cozy atmosphere perfect for unwinding after shopping or enjoying a leisurely meal.
Our server, Charlie, was polite, welcoming and informative. Andy, at the bar on our arrival, was friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious, not pub grub but genuinely fresh, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. We are from the set menu and are already planning a return visit.

Slow service, only 2 staff on duty early Sunday afternoon. Roasts not very hot and chicken legs rather than any breast meat but tasty gravy. Other table were given the wrong order and asked for their meals to be heated.

In EG on business and had Roast Beef Dinner here a week ago. It was so good I came back today and had the Fish & Chips for lunch today. Tom R, Andy & Charlie were all working and they took amazing care of me and my guest. Awesome food & service!

Visited the ship inn this past weekend, had an absolute lovely time, very friendly and relaxed environment. Food was lovely and was out in good time, I was searched by Charlie and he was very friendly and very attentive to any and all needs we had. Will definitely recommend to others.

Popped in for a family Sunday roast after a trip on the bluebell. Despite it being quite early on in the lunch service, the food was great, the service was even better. Loads of options, great kids menu and a lovely vegan roast. Highly recommended!

We never stayed overnight. We only had the food, and it wasn't all that good. We had several different meals, the fish and chips, was plenty. However, there was something missing from it as it was bland even though it had mushy peas, tartar sauce, and curry sauce. The curry sauce was really nice, but as I said before, it was bland, chips were hard, and fish batter was burnt, peas and tartar sauce had no taste, thank goodness for ketchup. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, overall, it was a nice place, the atmosphere was good but, unfortunately we wouldn't eat there again

Sunday early evening. Whole pub being run by two overwhelmed staff. Food took an hour to arrive - starter and mains brought together. Vegetables cold. Pub empty apart from 3 tables. Has gone downhill and will not be returning

Right first of all the ship inn, sick name not a generic name. I walked in and got greeted by a member off staff straight away I believe his name was Dylan. He was very polite, friendly and kind. I ordered a Guinness what was Poured Perfectly and a Pepperoni pizza which was unreal best pizza I have had in a long time. And the beer garden is one of the best I have seen the different levels offering different Atmosphere Of environment. Like I like the very bottom with the heating lamps and the wonky tables. It's a mood and I am all for it. So in a hole I would highly recommend the Ship inn and if you see a tall man with a mullet and a tash He will sort you out along with all the staff tbf I haven't got one bad thing to say. Everyone is just lovely in there, good staff good food good times.

Turned up without a booking on a Thursday night, it seemed a problem initially as they were busy, but there were a few tables free 🤷🏼‍♂️ Service was good, no complaints, the food, however, was so so, it always used to be good here. I'm not so sure about the chef, all our dishes looked the same with the same or very similar sauce, the lamb was tough, the chicken a bit dry, the prices are up, although this seems standard now for restaurants.

Takeaway ordered. Packed full of flavour & fresh tasting with large portions. An excellent meal.

After a couple of visits in the restaurant and after a second takeaway tonight, I’m very impressed. The food is always fresh and the portions are generous. Recommended.

First time getting a takeout from them, 5 stars! I used to use Velvety Ginger which sadly closed down so have been on the hunt for my next “go to” Curry place. Think I’ve found it 👍
Gavin W — Google review
This place is hit or miss. The service is usually very good, but can be painfully slow on busy days. The food is below average. My usual curry is a chicken jalfrezi. Unfortunately, the chicken is overcooked, so can be quite tough. The onion bhajis were like crisps and very small. They do need to up their game when it comes to the food. I'll be going to their competitors in Felbridge on my next curry night

Beautiful venue, location is great. Food is fairly good. Service is a mixed bag — some waiters are friendly and welcoming, one or two are abrupt and borderline rude.

The Ounce & Ivy Bush - JD Wetherspoon is a charming pub that perfectly blends a cozy atmosphere with modern touches. With its wood-accented decor and spacious layout, it offers ample seating for patrons looking to enjoy classic pub fare like fish 'n' chips, burgers, and pizza alongside refreshing pints. The service here is friendly and attentive, ensuring that your dining experience is pleasant. While the food arrives quickly, some dishes could benefit from being served hotter.
What can you say about a wetherspoons that hasn't already been said. It's a large, nicely decorated, centrally located pub, with value for money drinks and food. We enjoyed our time here, probably stayed slightly longer than we should have, and I would recommend it to others. No complaints. The staff and locals were all friendly and polite. An overall pleasant few hours.

Nice place for people who is in budget as it's canting chain of pubs. We come time to time for a cup of tea, pizza is grate here, chicken I like and nice meal for kids. Remember it's a pub. I recommend this place to safe your money.

Nics spacious spoon with plenty of seatings which means suitable for all size groups. It has two entrance one entrance on the street and another coming from cinema side. Staff were good so do their service.
UK J — Google review
Easy to walk past this Spoons as it's inside another building which I believe might be the cinema. We missed it & had to turn back before we realised it was the pub we were looking for. Unasumming from the outside but the inside made up for it. Lots of available seating inside and a few tables & chairs outside. Pay for parking right outside which is useful but not many spaces unfortunately. Prices for drinks and food are average. Prices are normally dearer in London or at the O2. Pint of Bud Light was £1.99. We had a chicken pizza to share as a snack. It was fine. Spoons food has really gone downhill & I wouldn't have dinner due to persistent recent disappointment . Staff were friendly. Pub was clean. Tables needed clearing but otherwise ok. Wouldn't feel the need to return. Number 77 for us.
Brian C — Google review
Clean and spacious with plenty of seating. Food was good, served quickly and could've been a bit warmer. Staff helped with a few queries and we're all polite. Very good, in a great location of East Grinstead. There's very limited street parking outside, with a larger car park just around the corner. WiFi can be bit temperamental. I visit here often, highly recommend. Usually busy, but always manage to get a seat. Always exceptional value here. Highly recommend.

Pizza Express is a delightful chain pizzeria that offers a relaxed dining atmosphere where chefs don striped t-shirts and skillfully toss handmade pizzas. Guests rave about the friendly and attentive staff, making every visit feel special. The menu has expanded to include a separate vegan selection, featuring thin and crispy dough without the typical coconut flavor found in many vegan cheeses. Families appreciate the interactive experience for kids, like making their own pasta, which encourages even picky eaters to enjoy their meals.
My first visit was very good. Polite staff and quick service. The starter, main and pizza express ale were all fantastic. A very spacious and clean restaurant, not too busy on my mid-week visit. No faults whatsoever, I'll definitely fight here again.
Mark S — Google review
Unfortunately, ordering from the East Grinstead Pizza Express was, once again, disappointing. The additional toppings on the pizza were barely there (about a square inch of goat cheese over a big, Romana La Reine pizza, although we were made to pay extra); the cheesy garlic bread was minuscule, with a small dollop of cheese in the middle; as for the Hawaiian dough bites, that we were looking forward to trying for the first time, they were the disappointment of the century! A smaller than one square centimetre piece of bacon over the entire portion and a crumb of about two millimetres of cold, nasty pineapple… The rest was… acceptable, but lacking love, I guess… Next time, we will go back to the Oxted Pizza Express, that provides an a lot better quality and shows more respect towards us, as clients, by doing so…

Haven’t been to this Pizza Express branch since before the pandemic so it was great to see that they now have a separate vegan menu! The vegan pizzas were great too - dough was nice, thin and crispy and cheese didn’t have that strange coconut smell the mainstream vegan cheese normally has. They also let my 4 year old make her own tomato pasta which she really enjoyed and actually made her eat more of it than she usually would. The polenta chips (vegetarian) were super delicious. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming so overall we had a lovely dining experience.

Absolutely incredible experience here this afternoon! I had my baby shower afternoon tea here and nothing was a problem! I am a gluten-free foodie. When in England, I Research the best gluten-free high tea. I was staying in East Grinstead, so this little spot popped up for me. The scones were so perfect that I ended up buying her entire inventory to bring home. I then headed into London and went to Brown’s and Fortnum and Mason, Which were at least triple the price. They did not hold up to the Mug tree tea room. Next time I will stick with the country tea and skip the fancy city tea ! Five stars, highly recommend !

Had a fantastic afternoon tea as a takeaway for Mothers Day. The sandwich and cake selection were delicious as were the scones. Very generous portions and good value. The children enjoyed their afternoon tea too. All packaged nicely in pretty boxes. I have also used The Mug Tree for sweetie cones for my son’s birthday earlier this year which were great. They each had a personalised sticker and they were a great value alternative to party bags.

I have been coming to The Mug Tree since my Son was 3 days old. He is now 7, and I have a 5 year old daughter. The owners and the atmosphere are so welcoming, and attentive. The attention to detail and the care is clear. I last frequented The Mug Tree on Saturday when my beautiful friend, and sister in law to be, had her Baby Shower. We had afternoon tea, which was delicious, and enjoyed the chocolate making. Highly recommend 🥰

I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to eat when I walked in but the big choice of sundaes settled my mind very quickly. This is how I ended up devouring a yummy Lotus Biscuit Sundae! In the meantime, my wife was enjoying her salmon bagel with salad and crisps on the side. We enjoyed our food and the overall experience so, most likely, we'll visit it again but to get the 5th star I think they should put more attention to details. My latte was served without a teaspoon and the food was served without napkins. I noticed the same happening at the table next to us, where they had to call the waitress just to have some napkins.

It’s a large cafe and it’s a shame they didn’t have a kitchen with an oven and stove. So we couldn’t have anything heated up because they only have a microwave. So I had to have a salad and my boyfriend had very strange bread that was like thin pitta bread. I liked the coleslaw and the bizarre snotty textured French vinaigrette looked like it had chilli flakes in it but it was ok tasting I just hope it didn’t have rapeseed oil, as that was modified in the 70’s and the pollen makes me sneeze so I know I’m allergic to it. It was a chilled place. But it was a shame they didn’t have an electric stove like in other cafes. Because microwaves destroy the molecules of the food or liquids. Just feed your plant or animal and you will see the plant die and the dog won’t touch it. I liked the decor and that it’s dog friendly. Looks like they had a good selection of coffees and teas but I don’t drink tap water Dave had normal tea.
Maureen B — Google review
Soup of the day was the M&S tomato and lentil soup. (I know as I use to eat it every week at one point) the avo and eggs was super plain, no flavour, Really basic. Prices were extortionate for how poor the food quality was. There was bizarrely 6 young serving staff for a very small cafe that perhaps needed 2.

Its interesting place to go for having tea or coffe or lunch. It’s small cafe on high street, behind the monument. Its very easy to get here. We park our car at waitrose and walk 3 minutes. The food selection were limited but all look interesting. Top floor always busy so we went to basement area which is Ok. The staff were friendly and we’ve got 50% discount as we went here on tuesday. Soup, salad and quiche was delicious. Cafe also provide hand sanitation on each corner and setup table at basement with social distance.

Really cute little book in the east grinstead high street! Really chill vibe with super friendly and amenable staff. I was expecting a cafe with pastries and small bits and bobs so was surprised to be able to get a full on breakfast. Great tea selection and really good food too with decent portions for the price. I had a dirty chai latte as well as pancakes with maple syrup and bacon rashers. They seemed happy to make changes to orders within reason as well which was really nice of them. The whole experience took no more than a half hour but didn't feel rushed in any way. All in all great place and would recommend if you're after a quick stop breakfast and lunch.

Prebooked for a birthday treat as vegan afternoon tea was offered. 40 mins after arrival I was asked if I ate jam (really?) and what I would like in my sandwiches (despite already saying in a phone call from the cafe this morning). I suggest a range of basic items, all things already on the menu. A further 20 mins and my depressing sarnies arrived, consisting of humous and avacado (separately). The chunky salad was added after I asked if they could add some TO the sandwiches 🤭. I asked if the bread was stale or toasted and was told it was GF. Why GF? "Because you're vegan". 🤦‍♀️. Served with GF cakes and clotted cream 🤪. Staff urgently need training in this before someone with serious allergies takes a bite. Also attached is a pic of the cakes my family shared - some look straight out a supermarket tub? Appreciated new sarnies offered and bill being wiped so thank you.

Very good fish and chip shop. Always enjoy the fish whether cod or haddock. Better parking than any of the other fish and chips shops in East Grinstead - like to make a quick getaway so food does not go cold!

We were disappointed when we ordered takeaway fish and chips last night. It was soggy and chips looks just reheated. It so expensive with the price we paid for. It wasn’t the same anymore. We are now put off going there.
C P — Google review
Use to order quite a bit from here and the food was always really nice. By far my favourite chips and cod. Recently not to sure what’s changed but ordered last week and the chips were cooked in old oil, thought maybe it was a one off so ordered again but this time 90% of the chips were cooked in old oil and the cod was just quite dry. Ordered a large cod and looked like it was a small. It’s a shame but think I’ll be looking for another chippy and maybe try one last time in a few months. The employees that deliver are very well mannered and friendly.

Amazing service, anything I asked for they sorted, no problems, the staff were very friendly and polite, food was amazing, All for £7.50
Darren F — Google review
Ordered multiple times from deliveroo so can't comment on the atmosphere. That is the only negative and is to be expected given being a takeaway/delivery order. Otherwise, this is the best fish and chip shop I've ever been too, 100%. My GF who is from hove and has been to too many fish and chip shops to count has said that this is far and above all expectations, especially being such a hidden gem. I've tried the skate, place and haddock, and they have always been fresh and flaky and the batter has always been proper crispy and not greasy at all, which surprises me because I got it through delivery! Chips are not greasy at all and always been very consistent and with that fish and chips shop aura! For me and my GF the stand out by far is the curry sauce; if you order from harbour fish bar (which you should) you HAVE to get the curry sauce. I don't know how they make it but it goes perfectly with the fish and chips: it's perfectly seasoned and only slightly sweet (I don't prefer the overly sweet kind you find a lot) and as a sauce-fiend I have to have at least 2 every order (but 1 curry sauce is still generous). The mushy peas are really well textured and not just gloopy slop in other fish and chips shops, only downside is they would benefit with a little salt, but that is my taste! If you ever find yourself in the strange, small town of east-grinstead and need some proper traditional British food, go here!

This was a recommendation from our waiter at another restaurant- so of course we had to try it. It did not disappoint. The place was packed but they seated us in no time. The food was superbly prepared. We got the grilled meat for two and could have just eaten the third course and been full. I very bit of meat was tender and flavorful. I don’t know what they did to the shredded carrots - but yes please. Definitely recommend

If you're on the hunt for a charming pub in East Grinstead, look no further than The Railway Pub. This delightful spot boasts a cozy atmosphere, especially during chilly days when you can warm up by the inviting open fireplace. With comfortable fabric chairs and plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors—complete with heaters and shelter—it's an ideal place to relax year-round. The Railway has recently undergone a transformation thanks to its new chef, elevating the food offerings to new heights.
The Railway Pub in East Grinstead has seriously stepped up its game, thanks to a new chef who’s completely turned the place around. If you haven’t been in a while, it’s time to give it another go—because the food is next level. First off, the Buffalo Chicken Burger is a beast. Crispy, juicy chicken absolutely drenched in buffalo sauce, with just the right mix of spice and tang. Add in a toasted brioche bun, fresh toppings, and a killer blue cheese dressing, and you’ve got yourself a proper burger that hits the spot every time. Then there’s the Sticky Toffee Pudding—easily one of the best I’ve had. Soft, rich sponge cake soaked in warm toffee sauce, with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream melting into it. Pure dessert heaven. With the new chef in charge, the whole menu has had a serious glow-up. Whether you’re after a proper meal or just some top-tier pub food, The Railway Pub is smashing it right now. Highly recommend checking it out!

this has become my favourite spot! The food is absolutely amazing quality, and the chicken tenders especially are like nothing I’ve ever tasted before, I’m obsessed with them! They even have bingo on every Friday and the first day I played I managed to win £70!! It has such an incredible atmosphere in there, me and my friends love this pub.

Had a nice lunch here yesterday, and the burgers were ate were well prepared and tasty. I had the Cali, my wife had the Buffalo Chicken and both were nice but hers had a sweetness to it that just hit the spot. Chips were well cooked and only a little too salty for my tastebuds, but everything went down well, and bar staff were friendly and welcoming on each visit.

If you're in East Grinstead and looking for the perfect pub, I would highly recommend The Railway. This place is everything a great local should be – warm, welcoming, full of character, and with a brilliant atmosphere.I visited recently with my husband and we both felt that what truly sets The Railway apart, is the exceptional service, especially from the wonderful Jordan behind the bar. She is an absolute star – friendly, efficient, and always on the ball, even when the pub is busy. We both had the Caprese burger and ordered lots of sides to go with it and everything was delicious. We look forward to return to sample more of the menu and to soak up more of the wonderful atmosphere.

In a word - wow! Not your regular pib grub , but they clearly know what they are good at and they nail it. I've eaten my fair share of fried chicken over the years but let me tell you, nothing comes close to this...perfectly tender and the flavour just did not stop. Words really can't do it justice. The atmosphere and service also top tier; our food and drinks were served by a lovely smiling young girl whose name I did not catch, and we were very comfortable watching the footy. We'll definitely be coming back soon.

Amazing food, the hot honey chicken burger was amazing. Service was great and the pub has a lovely cozy atmosphere. We would definitely go back

We visited east Grinstead over the weekend and visited a few pubs during our stay. We are the wrong side of 50 and I dont think we were the target audience! The quality of the food, however, exceeded our expectations, but the general vibe just felt off and couldn't be ignored. It was rowdy and even a little unwelcoming as a non-regular. The service was below average for the standard in town. We would still recommend visiting on a sunny midweek day (for the chicken burgers alone), as they do have a huge outdoors seating area where you could enjoy your meal in peace.

It's ok, nothing really great and nothing really bad. I would say its a sports bar really, so go watch footyvwhen in town. However, it is in a super town centre, East Grinstead is well worth a visit.

Stopped by en route to our destination on the coast to catch a premier league game on BT sport. Friendly staff and very decent food including a first-rate sausage and mash. Lots of dogs in evidence.

I was part of a band that played at The Crown - the landlord was incredibly welcoming to us and gave a loads of space to set up in (and we did get quite a few dancing!). The space is great, awesome staff and the TVs huge and great for sports events. I didn't get to try the food but I heard such good things about it I'll come back sometime soon and try it out!

Visited The Crown on Tuesday for drinks and lunch. Plenty of customers ordering food which resulted in a small delay, but this wasn't a problem as we weren't in a hurry and it showed that everything was being freshly cooked to order. Which is nice! This pub has recently been refurbished and the decor is attractive. An enjoyable lunch.......very good overall, thanks guys.

Overall not a bad experience. The Sunday roast was really nice (and I'm fussy). The pudding, however, needed a little more attention to detail, apple crumble slopped into the bowl upside down, tasted ok thou. All the TV's showing football, brought our lunchtime outing to a premature end unfortunately, as the TV we were sitting under was extremely loud, we did ask if the sound could be turned off (it was hardly needed as there were another 2 in the immediate facinity and could be heard), but we were told it wasn't allowed! One shining light the Crown offers is Kayla! Efficient isn't a big enough word to describe her, an absolute credit to the Crown and I hope she's appreciated!!!

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience, Qartol Turkish Restaurant is the place to be! This charming eatery offers an array of beautifully cooked dishes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Guests rave about the friendly and attentive service, making every visit feel special. Whether you’re enjoying a shared platter or celebrating a special occasion, the atmosphere is warm and inviting.
Had a wonderful time at Qartol whilst visiting East Grinstead during the festive period with my mum and sister. Loved everything including the gorgeous decor, hospitality and of course the food! The latter was delicious... I enjoyed the mixed grill dish which was a delightful variety, packed with heartwarming flavour and tender, succulent meat. Staff were so attentive and kind. Definitely recommend. Thank you guys for making our evening special.

Me and my boyfriend fancied a kebab, it was Easter Sunday and Qartol was the only kebab place doing delivery in the area. We've never been before, only recently moved to East Grinstead. I was expecting cheap, rubbish kebab which was all we wanted really. I was absolutely wowed when the food arrived. It was absolutely amazing, and although we didn't dine in you can tell the service is excellent by how the food came with free Turkish bread (delicious by the way), salad, sauces and 2 puddings! The dishes we ordered were fantastic. I got lamb, not usually a fan of lamb but since it was Easter I tried it, and wow, it was seasoned and cooked so beautifully. My boyfriend loved his meal too. We are just so impressed and will be returning to dine in. The delivery driver was really friendly too, I'm not sure if he works for the restaurant itself but he was great 👏🏼 We live in a flat and I really appreciated he came all the way up to our door. Thank you Qartol for an amazing meal and great service, you have 2 new customers ❤️

Lovely place to eat. We went two times in three days while staying in East Grinstead. Food was very nice / service was great. There was a mistake on our order on the second visit but was handled very well by the owner. Will definitely come back when in East Grinstead.

Friendly, attentive staff. Restaurant was comfortable and clean but the atmosphere was flat as it was fairly quiet. The food was ok… chicken didn’t seem to be good quality and was quite bland, possibly down to choice of dish so would go back to try again.

We ordered our food over the phone and it was ready really quickly. We got the shared platter which was a good portion and very filling price was reasonable and there is parking across the road which you pay for. Service from the staff was good, resturant was quite for a Friday night
Minhaj N — Google review
(I had takeaway, didn’t eat in) Really disappointing. I ordered a lamb beyti (a wrap of yoghurt, minced lamb, in lavaş/bread) and instead got spiced minced lamb shaped like lamb beyti with plain white rice. No bulgur just regular rice. Instead of lavaş (turkish flat bread) the meal came with plain white pita bread, like what you get from the shop. The only sauce was a small dip. The portions were tiny considering the price (a small box for £17!!) and the fact the food was little more than something you could make at home. The only reason I even gave it 2 stars is that the quality of the meat itself was fine. I wasn’t blown away by Rocca nearby and the service was terrible but at least it was actual turkish food. Zorba in tunbridge wells is far better than both, same price but you actually get what you pay for. I regret eating from here.

We ordered a Chinese takeaway this evening, It all went in the bin. What an absolute catastrophic thrown together mess, turned up practically cold, Do not order from here, it looks awful and tastes worse. If you do decide to order from here, I strongly advise against ordering the duck pancake rolls because all that’s in them is chopped up onion and a shred of what is supposed to be a bit of duck. The ribs didn’t taste right at all , very tough and over dry and after one bite I could tell they tasted pretty odd, couldn’t even get something as simple as chips correct, wet and soggy and cold in the middle. Absolutely disgraceful. Not one dish we ordered was satisfactory. The one star is for the broccoli dish that was a begrudged pass, not great but not as awful as the other dishes although it still went in the bin after tasting it as by this point I was put off. Complete Waste of money.

I’ve never had over cooked noodles from a Chinese before but:.. Noodles were over cooked, was all mushy & far too much onion. Satay sauce taste like syrup it was so sweet. Sweet and sour prawn balls was all batter and only a tiny bit of prawn
Jack B — Google review
Worst chow mein I've ever had. These noodles looked like they have been resurrected. They were flavourless with absolutely no sauce. Annoyed as they were meant to be the main part of my families dinner tonight. Having already sat down to eat dinner the last thing we wanted was to stop everyone eating and drive back out to get replacements. Had to stop my child eating the prawn crackers as they were stale and tasted like plastic. We ordered other stuff which was obviously made fresh to order and was absolutely fine. I won't be returning though as I won't let my family eat from somewhere that clearly stores some of their food far too long.
Aaron M — Google review
If you're looking for food that’s absolutely god-tier but comes with a price tag that’ll have you reconsidering your life choices, then New Jade Evergreen is the place for you! The food here is out of this world—especially the king prawns with lentil soup and chives. That dish alone is worth selling your soul for, and I’m pretty sure Chef Ping has mastered some kind of culinary magic. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and you can tell he’s got some serious kitchen wizardry going on. But let me tell you, when the bill came... let’s just say I wasn't prepared. I was so blown away by the food, I forgot to check the prices beforehand, and by the end of the meal, I realized I could barely cover half of it! Things got a little awkward, and before I knew it, I found myself in the back of the restaurant helping Chef Ping wash dishes to cover the rest. Yep, you read that right! As embarrassed as I was, I can’t deny that the punishment fit the crime—I’d do it all over again just to taste that incredible food. The staff were fantastic, super friendly and understanding despite my "little" mishap. But man, if you’re going to eat here, make sure your wallet is ready for the ride. A huge shout-out to Chef Ping for his incredible culinary knowledge and the team for the top-tier service. Just, you know... bring your credit card, or maybe two
Joshua J — Google review
I went here over a dinner and it was bit of a mixed experience. The service, friendliness of the staff & the cleanliness of the dining area & toilets are up to standards. It seems like this place is popular takeaway / delivery restaurant, so you will frequently hear the noise of phone ringing and the voice of the person who is answering, which can be bit of annoying. Anyway, we ordered a special fried riced, soft fried noodles and crispy shredded chicken portion. The fried rice and the soft fried noodles is incredibly delicious but unfortunately the portion is way too small for that price. The shredded chicken seems to be overcooked and it doesnt taste chicken. But, it was still tasty. It seems like this restaurant has a very high price category for a such a small sized portions. I believe it is not really worth it. As soon as we got to the restaurant they asked whether we need prawn crackers and we said yes. Later we found out it wasn't complementary and that was in the bill. There are few other Chinese restaurants around this place and I will be trying them next time. Thank you.

McDonald's is a classic fast-food chain that has stood the test of time, renowned for its delicious burgers and crispy fries. During my recent visit, I found the drive-thru to be bustling yet efficient, ensuring that my food arrived hot and fresh in no time. The staff were exceptionally polite and friendly, adding a warm touch to the experience. The exterior of this location was quite appealing, with ample parking spaces suitable even for larger vehicles like vans.
The food was just like what you expect generally from a McDonald's. But the staff here was very polite and helpful. The drivethrough was very busy but the restaurant itself was not. I liked how they have arranged the seating area. Lot of seats to sit and comfortably have your food. The restaurant was very clean as well.

Double sausage and egg McMuffin, disgraceful. The bun was saturated with oil, the wrapper it came in was absolutely filthy. It looks like somebody had wiped their backside with it (apologies for the awful description but it’s the only way I can describe it). We asked for tomato sauce and we were given barbecue, the bacon and egg McMuffin had practically no bacon in it. The brown paper with the food in, the bottom had oil all over it, I didn’t realise and I put it on top of my jeans in the car, I now have oil on my jeans - not happy. The new payment machine for the drive-through you cannot reach it when using the furthest ordering point from the building it’s too far away. See photos - unfortunately we were in a rush we didn’t have time to go back and sort this out with the restaurant - certainly expect a lot better from McDonalds - certainly will not go back there in a hurry!

A great McDonald's. Nothing short of perfect. The latté was one of the best I've tasted. Well done to the staff. My second visit I had the best cappuccino for a long time. Here is always my preference for got drinks!

Made our way over here for a light lunch for our journey back home. We found the exterior to be quite nice, and the car parking spaces are a reasonable size for a van. No discernable smells of note. The wait time was standard but the staff were all around very friendly. The receipt printer did not work unfortunately. The food was tasty (see pictures attached). All in all a pleasant experience, East Grinstead has a jewel in its crown. Unfortunately my friend choked on his burger in the car.

They forgot to send me my double quarter hamburger! They send the coke the chips, and the other items i bought, then there is not help to send the hamburger or return the price. I used the app. No one helps I called to this McDonalds and the guy who answered said he cannot send it to my address but I can come to pick it up!!!! No placing the 12 digits receipt. It is the second time missing items!

Poor Experience at McDonald’s – Braunstone Town, Leicester I had a disappointing experience during a recent visit to the McDonald’s in Braunstone Town, Leicester. Despite selecting table service, my order was not delivered to the table. I waited for quite a while, expecting it to arrive, but eventually had to go up to the counter and collect it myself. There was no communication or apology from the staff, which made the service feel careless and disorganised. To add to the poor experience, the fries were extremely oily and soggy, making them quite unpleasant to eat. They seemed like they had been sitting around for a while or cooked in oil that needed changing. The condition of the dining area was also unacceptable. Tables and seats were not cleaned properly — there was visible food waste, spilled ketchup, and general mess left behind. It didn’t look like the area had been wiped down in some time, which made the whole atmosphere feel unhygienic and uninviting. Overall, this visit was far below the standard I expect from McDonald’s. I hope the management takes action to improve cleanliness, food quality, and basic service, especially when customers choose options like table service.

ALWAYS INCAPABLE OF CORRECTLY FULFILLING ORDERS. Beware - if you order a delivery there is a pretty good chance you will only get some of your order or the items you receive are wrong.. I'm writing this review because this is not a one off for me or people I know. So many times either I or someone I know have had there order incorrectly fulfilled by this branch of McDonald's. When delivered I strongly suggest you check you order at the door and send the delivery driver back to correct if wrong. Clearly the restaurant is not training it's staff properly or they are neglecting there customer service. The one star is awarded for Uber for instantly refunding me my order. The food that did come was also cold and incorrect and messy (see photo). Not a great experience McD's... No wonder you are loosing market share.....there really is no excuses.
Rob H — Google review
The food was fine, nothing to shout about. The hash brown was cold. My main reason is reviewing though is the lack of understanding for people that need to work while eating. I had to ask for them to turn the plug sockets on so I could work and eat (I had ordered a breakfast wrap meal and black coffee). I started using my laptop and they turned the power off after 10 minutes! This was not enough time to do the work I needed and it forced me to leave. Every time I tried to get someone’s attention to switch the power back on the avoided eye contact with me making it very obvious they do not want me to use the plug socket. I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want people working in store. This is a regular thing for people like myself that work on the road. I won’t come back again

I order from here every now and again and it always been ok. Today my food was appalling; cold, missing salad in the burger, chips that were limp and colder than the two cans of Pepsi and the chicken wings were questionable. To top it all the restraunt then tried to blame the just eat driver and didn't even offer an apology other than that they would "give extra" next time. There won't be a next time. Pretty picture below of the reality of your order; half pounder with cheese and salad evidently!.....Upto you, but I would avoid.

Absolutely terrible, ordered a kebab on just eat, it was inedible the meat look like the leather on my work boots, dry and old. Rang to complain, was offered something else but I’d completely lost my appetite so said I could call back another time, did so today and was told I’d have to pay for the order and they would only do a cheap side for free. Too late for me to ask for a refund on just eat now. I actually can’t believe the service. Never again.

Delivery service was great very fast that warrants 1 star…. However! The food is the WORST takeaway we have ever had ever! Absolutely inedible how this place is still able to sell food is beyond us! Hard, dry most likely fairly old food even the vegetables were dry and hard! Really strange off putting taste. Such a shame because we don’t like to speak badly of local business but wow this place needs to either re-jig or shut its kitchen! Made the mistake of checking reviews after and everyone says the same! Sorry to say but is shocking 🤦🏼‍♂️

Placed an order through them recently today. Food arrived on time, however one of the items (meat feast pizza) was undercooked and had mould spores on the base of the pizza, providing a unsatified /poorly taste. When called upon, the person didnt understand me... Very disappointed and will not be using them again. Requested a refund via online...

Caffè Nero is a delightful coffee shop that offers a cozy atmosphere, perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle. Located in the House of Fraser at Bluewater, it’s an ideal spot to enjoy specially blended hot and cold drinks alongside light meals. Many patrons prefer Caffè Nero for its smooth coffee that avoids bitterness, making it their go-to choice both locally in Burgess Hill and while traveling. The friendly staff consistently provide excellent service, ensuring each visit is enjoyable.
The first time there and everything was good. Hope it continues like that!

Popped in to grab a coffee before meeting friends. There were dirty plates, cups, glasses on most tables. Staff just didn’t appear bothered. I won’t be going in there again anytime soon.

I always enjoy a visit here. Staff are friendly and serve decent coffee and the cakes are good. The seating is usually clean and it's not rammed busy. Of the big 3, this franchise is my favourite.
Richmouland — Google review
I am writing to share a disappointing experience I had at your café. I have visited many times before and was always pleased with the atmosphere and service. However, today was different and quite upsetting. A male staff member approached and asked my two children to keep quiet. While they were speaking a bit loudly, they were not disturbing anyone around us. What struck me as unfair was that shortly after, another family—who happened to be white—arrived with children who were just as loud, yet the staff said nothing to them. I want to be clear that I don’t see children talking or playing loudly—or even a dog barking—as a problem in itself. I’ve visited many times, and most people seem tolerant and unbothered by these natural sounds. In the meantime, I politely asked another female staff member if my children were being too loud. She responded kindly and reassured me that it was absolutely fine—she didn’t find it to be a problem at all. Frankly, if my children had truly been too loud, I would have changed my order to takeaway out of consideration for others. On top of that, the male staff was speaking loudly in Mandarin with other customers - conversations I could clearly hear from across the room. This is the first time I’ve ever been asked to keep quiet in a café—even in Caffè Nero, which I’ve visited many times without any issue. I’m not sure if your café has a formal "quiet policy." If it does, I would suggest training staff to apply it consistently and fairly to all customers. If it doesn’t, I believe the staff’s actions today were inappropriate and showed a clear lack of proper training. As an Asian customer, I left feeling discriminated against. It is upsetting to see that others can speak loudly or bring in barking dogs without comment, yet my family was singled out. Good customer service is essential to retaining loyal customers, while poor treatment will drive them away. I will not support a business that makes me feel unwelcome or unfairly targeted. I hope you take this feedback seriously and take steps to improve staff training and ensure fair treatment for all guests.

Starbucks Coffee, the iconic Seattle-based coffeehouse chain, is a haven for caffeine lovers and casual diners alike. Known for its signature roasts and light bites, it offers a cozy atmosphere perfect for unwinding or catching up with friends. One delightful visit to Starbucks East Grinstead revealed an inviting ambiance where baristas serve delicious concoctions like dark chocolate & orange mocha and hazelnut & honey blends.
After a long flight we had a well deserved coffee at the best place for it in East Grinstead .👈🤙😉 Accompanied by good quality food and desserts it makes for us a memorable stay in a comfortable atmosphere . 💜 Thank you so much Barbs , Emily , Mia , Nina and rest of the girls for having us !🙏 The last word ... Having tried so many Starbucks in the US on our honeymoon which we just returned from, I can honestly say that Starbucks East Grinsted tops them all . It is a conclusive fact that it is the man who gives the taste to the coffee and not the place itself !👈🤙 Thank you very much .🙏❤️

Dream team working today. Tables clean and tidy inside and out. Plenty of choice. Really cheerful and friendly team.

The woman who served me didn't understand my drink... it's a basic venti blonde vanilla iced latte with vanilla sweet cream cold foam. Unfortunately what she read out to me is not what I ordered. Where she missed out the vanilla syrup within the coffee, my drink turned out bitter. So much so, I had to divert extra to come home to add my own!!! Not the experience you aim for on a passing experience within the supermarket. Wasn't the man's fault who made my drink, purely confusion on the till workers side. Am reluctant to return... as an ex barista, drink orders aren't that complicated. Especially a basic iced vanilla latte with a foam topping...

A small but cosy and friendly branch, oddly located inside a Sainsbury's supermarket (it has its own little door at the side though). A surprisingly peaceful refuge from all the bustle of the main shop, even a couple of days before Christmas.
Lex L — Google review
This place is normally brilliant, during the weekdays, Saturdays are terrible. There's never enough seating due to the terrible layout of the tables. Also, customers are constantly leaving the door open, so it makes the place cold and not enjoyable. I would normally rate this place as great, during the week, the staff are good during the week. On Saturdays, staff forgot my fruit toast, basically gave it to someone else. The refurb wasn't worth it .

If you're on the hunt for a delightful Indian takeaway experience, look no further than Surma Indian Takeaway. This gem was discovered through JustEat while seeking a fresh curry adventure, and it certainly did not disappoint! Diners rave about the flavorful dishes, with tender chicken cooked to perfection that leaves your taste buds dancing. The delivery service is prompt and friendly, ensuring your meal arrives warm and ready to enjoy. Navigating their website is a breeze, making online ordering simple and efficient.
Ordered a take away and was a bit weary as it was 30 minutes late! HANDS DOWN THE BEST INDIAN TAKEAWAY I HAVE HAD IN A LONG TIME. Well worth the wait, authentic and rustic flavours. Well done chef 👏

I discovered this restaurant through JustEat as we wanted to try a different curry place for a change. Both dishes we ordered had flavour and tasted amazing. The chicken pieces were tender and cooked to perfection. The delivery was on time, food was warm and driver friendly. If I absolutely have to pick one negative thing then it will be the small size of the poppadoms as the were a bit on the small size for the same price as most other places. I would strongly recommend this Indian restaurant!

This is our goto Indian takeaway. Very reasonable prices and always tasty. Try the Adda lamb, haven't found anywhere else that does it yet. Keep it up guys

This was the first time I ordered from Surma. The food was really awful. Watery curries with no flavour. The Prawns in my Dhansak had a lot of shell on them. The Peshwari naan had next to no fillings. Sloppy saag aloo. Really bad. Would not order from here again.
MICHELLE L — Google review
Lovely curry! Pleasant staff (have picked up from the shop and had delivered, good experience both times). Me and the missus both liked the mint sauce in particular, the Madras is brill and the peshwari naan nice and sweet. So good we went back the next weekend after trying Surma for the 1st time not long ago. Recommended!

Had a great experience with this little take away. Friendly efficient service, and the food was authentic and delicious! Had the butter chicken, lamb jalfrezi and the chicken tikka saag.
Janell R — Google review
The website was easy to navigate and order from, the food came quickly, the delivery guy was sweet, and the food was really delicious, so flavorsome and the meat was nicely cooked. You get a lot of food for what you pay for. I literally just finished eating it and while I'm now uncomfortably full, the whole experience was extremely positive and delicious. Will definitely order again.

The Premier Inn East Grinstead hotel offers affordable and contemporary en suite rooms, along with a convenient on-site pub/restaurant and complimentary parking. This budget hotel has received positive feedback for its excellent value for money. The staff is friendly and efficient, ensuring a pleasant stay for guests. The rooms are well-maintained and comfortable, although some areas like the corridor could benefit from additional cleaning. Despite overlooking the road, noise disturbance is minimal, allowing guests to enjoy a restful sleep.
We stayed one night, so we could meet up with friends. We usually use Premier Inn, as we really like knowing what you get and the good standard of hotel they are. The staff have always been very helpful, friendly, and efficient. Having food available, mostly within the hotel, is a real bonus. When you have to eat in a pub next door, it isn't such a problem, apart from when it's blowing a gale and pouring. The food has always been very good, and the service is great too. Mostly, the parking is easy, but some places have limited or no parking available. We try not to go to these ones, but I am sure they are equally as good.

The hotel is absolutely fine. Location is closed to the centre of East Grinstead which worked for me as I was there on business. Room was clean and everything worked with the usual comfy bed you come to expect from the chain. Only gripes were the bath was stained and the usb cables next to the bed were broken with no plugs nearby. Biggest and best thing about this place is the lovely Lou on reception. I got there early as starting work at 10:00 but my partner was with me with nowhere to go until check in as there is no real lobby or amenities. Lou could not do enough to get us a room early, keep her company and even let me use the room toilet before it was ready! She made us feel welcome and looked after my partner at checkout as I was at work until later. She is an absolute credit to the company and is the very definition of going above and beyond for exceptional service

Defacto, only a week ago had zero idea of what where and how ! So,I find myself ' relocated ' a long way from ' home ' and am now ' resident ' at The Premier Inn Felbridge. Every single staff member I am about to mention, from initial telephone calls and subsequently meeting each in person at various random points, have and continue to be outstandingly helpful, friendly and professional. So a Huge Thank you too each of the following. Finley,Alison,Mo,Derek,Lou,Tara and Zoe. Nothing is ' to much trouble ' Any information assistance or help is given with a friendly smile. My room is superb and spotless. Huge double bed is the cleanest comfiest that I have ever slept in. Better than my own bed at home ! Bathroom large, mint clean. The bath is the biggest ! the Shower superb. Large multiple access car park where you can always park safely only seconds from main entrance. Fantastic on site pub & restaurant Star Inn Chef & Brewer, literally 5 seconds walk. Top Quality breakfasts with everything and anything you could possibly want. I personally hardly ever ' write reviews ' But on occasion, feel morally obliged to. The above is unexagerated, and my real world experience last week of May 2025 And the 1st day of June ( as I write ) Kind Regards paul

Mediocre chain hotel on a main road. Friendly staff, but our stay was spoiled by being charged an extra £27 when we registered. No explanation given. Subway is a delightful casual dining experience where you can create your own sandwiches, salads, and wraps tailored to your taste. With an impressive array of over 38 million combinations available, the possibilities are endless! Choose from freshly baked breads made with British flour and fill them with a variety of delicious cheeses (including vegan options), protein-rich meats, and crisp veggies.
Extremely attentive staff, who cater to you're every need. Always been served in a efficient and friendly manor, with great customer service! Plus their delivery is fast and very efficient too! Never had a bad meal from here, and have slowly become a regular, as I live down the road! Simple and healthy fast food with a smile!

I've shared two star because thus isn't the first time I've received my Subway delivery and its been pants. I've been to many over the years and East Grinstead is the absolute worst. I selected all of the salad option, minus cucumber and tomatoes... where is it? They're so stingey on their portions. My children's previous food order was rubbish as well. Other places I've been to give you a nice amount of lettuce to bulk the sandwich out. Sadly this has hardly any salad and loads of sauce. I've tried it a few times now to give it a good go, but it isn't worth £10 for just a poor sandwich.

Thieves. Will charge you in full for items and you will not receive them and you will not be provided with a refund. This has happened a number of times now. Good luck trying to rectify the issue as they refuse to pick up the phone at all. Do not eat here.

Have always been to Subways across my travels because they do Gluten Free bread. Upon my arrival in this East Grinstead store, I noticed it was completely empty, this is unusual for Subways I've been in before but my experience revealed why that might be. I asked for my usual... A pepperoni slice on gluten free bread. Most workers at Subways inform me that the gluten free bread is an extra 50p on top of the prices listed on the board, and I confirm that's okay and then they make it. This store was different. Instead they started to make it and then, while it was in the oven, I was told by the cashier in broken English that it would be extra. I of course said, yes, by 50p is that correct? They said yes multiple times, although their next actions question why they agreed with that. When it came to paying they were trying to charge me £10.98 for a Gluten Free Pepperoni slice (normally 1.99 on their menu plus an extra 50p for Gluten Free Bread) when I said that doesn't seem right they insisted I was an 'idiot' and had agreed it would be more because of the gluten free option. I tried pointing out that on their bread options, which are displayed on their window mind you, they have Gluten Free bread for an extra 50p, but this server was not having it. They insisted I paid £10.98 or go without. I'd like to point out at this stage that their most expensive footlong isn't even this expensive. I told them I would leave it, because there's no way I'm paying £11 for some bread and 3 pepperoni slices (they forgot the cheese) which they took great offense to and started yelling in what I assume was their native tongue. A horrible experience. And the staff in this store need additional training. It's no surprise the store is empty and I for certain will never give this particular establishment any business.

Just went in to grab a sandwich for my lunch(as I usually do) and the guy behind the counter recommend that I let him choose what to put in it, I go in there often enough so he has a good idea of what I like and don't so i thought why not. Tim Ley is a culinary gem that never fails to impress with its exceptional takeout offerings. The lemon chicken stands out with its delightful tartness, while the house special chow mein, though it may appear small for the price, delivers an unforgettable taste experience thanks to its genuine ingredients and perfectly cooked noodles. The crispy duck is another must-try dish that adds to the restaurant's charm. Prawn crackers are also a hit!

Really disappointed... I'd avoid this place if you're looking for a decent dinner. The Oriental is our usual and it's top stuff, very much regret trying this place.... £70 down the drain! The egg fried rice was bland and and tasted like cheap boiled rice. Everything was dripping in oil. The salt and pepper squid was beyond soggy with a pool of oil in the container, completely inedible. The ribs had barely any meat on and the sauce was tasteless. The spicy garlic chicken was not spicy and, again, very bland. The chicken balls were mostly batter. 85% of what we ordered is now sitting in the wheelie bin!

Food was nice but the delivery driver asked at the door for £4 extra for the delivery that was out of range??? I didn’t pay for this as I already paid delivery fee online and if this was an issue they should have cancelled the order or when you put the postcode input to change the delivery fee. Makes me think the drivers might be saying this to make extra cash??? Little suss

Lemon chicken 10/10 with a unique tart flavour. House special chow mein pictures, may look small and expensive at £6.50 but it was possible the best I have ever had. Genuine ingredients, unique chicken, beautiful pork and non greasy noodles. Prawn crackers also great. The prices may be premium, but the quality of the food is beyond premium.

Ok, so I ordered ‘Thai Red Curry’. It was not in the least like Thai red curry, in fact it was 100% not Thai red curry. It had NONE of the ingredients associated with it, it had ingredients that are NEVER in Thai red curry for instance tomatoes, mushrooms and aubergines. It was beige/grey in colour, Thai food always has freshly flash fried chicken - this had the glutinous Chinese style chicken. I went back and to their credit they gave me my money back. They asked if I’d ever been to Thailand (yes), and I showed them Google images of ‘Thai red curry’. They said it was ‘their version’, the fact is it no way whatsoever did it represent’Thai red curry’. They told me to never come back - is if I would!!!!

I stopped ordering from Tim Ley about a year ago because of the UGov hygiene rating being so bad. ( 1 star ) Just gave them another try and the food was really awful. The hygiene rating is slightly better now but the food tasted dreadful. Soggy batter. Chicken taste is odd and old. The rice tasted like it was cooked several days ago . I really wanted to give the place another try but it all tastes quite bad with msg and salt used to cover it up..... Also one of the dishes I ordered was left out and I was charged for it...... I suppose it may be a blessing in disguise. There isn't a good Chinese restaurant to order from around here and it would be great if one of them stepped up and made an effort to deliver decent food. I won't be ordering from Tim Ley anymore. Sorry , I gave you the benefit of the doubt - again - but the food is not good at all

If you're on the hunt for an exceptional Italian dining experience, look no further than Pizza House. Nestled in East Grinstead, this charming eatery boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes every visit feel special. Their lunch specials are hard to resist—imagine indulging in two-for-one pizzas or enjoying a pizza paired with a fresh salad for just £3.99! It's truly a steal.
Pizza House is one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of dining at. It is a sad fact that so few of the town have discovered their delicious food and cosy, friendly atmosphere. Their current lunch deal (two for one on pizzas or pizza with salad for £3.99) is a bargain at any rate and I dine there frequently. The food is something that definitely has to be tried. My advice, is give them a try and your taste buds will thank you.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent Service and Wonderful Experience at KFC East Grinstead! I had an absolutely fantastic experience at KFC East Grinstead! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, clean, and pleasant. But what truly made my visit special was the outstanding service provided by Ms. Humaris. She greeted me with a warm smile and was extremely polite, attentive, and professional throughout. She patiently helped me with my order, made sure everything was perfectly prepared, and even checked if I was happy with my meal. It’s rare these days to find staff who go above and beyond with genuine care, but Ms. Humaris did exactly that. Her cheerful attitude and customer-focused approach made my dining experience truly memorable. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious — everything you’d expect from KFC at its best. But excellent food combined with such exceptional service really deserves recognition. A big thank you to Ms. Humaris and the entire KFC East Grinstead team for maintaining such high standards of hospitality and customer satisfaction. I will definitely be visiting again and recommending this branch to my friends and family! Keep up the amazing work! 👏🍗 Kapil

Painfully slow service, staff obviously prioritising deliveroo orders, took 15 minutes for them to make a box meal last night. I asked a couple of times how long it would be and was told "we're just waiting on your burger" meanwhile multiple delivery orders that came in on their screen after I had ordered were prepared, packaged and pushed out first. Chicken was dry, burger was very sloppily chucked together, chips were cold. Multiple staff behind the counter literally stood there doing nothing starting at walls. Won't return.

Humaira provided excellent customer service during my visit! She was polite, fast, and made sure everything was just right. It’s not often you see someone go the extra mile like she did. KFC is lucky to have her. I’ll definitely be coming back because of her great attitude.

They all was look forward to the first take away they had in months. Shame on you on kfc!

That was my second visit at this KFC and it was as bad as previous one. Place is always empty, clearly there is reason behind it and even though the place is always dirty. Tables should we wiped as they all sticky. The ‘Indian’ lady who was at the counter is very rude but unfortunately the rest of the team ain’t even better. I order small wrap by it self and waited over 13minutes. Reason why? Manager was busy doing paperwork in office and rest of the staff wasn’t even there as they enjoyed then selfs outside on break and there was nobody to make an order. After 10minutes I asked how much longer I’m gonna have to wait, the woman answered me with attitude it’s on the way and she had to go to find member of staff to make me a wrap because how I mentioned before where was nobody at the kitchen section. When I received wrap half of the chicken breast was cold and I mean ice cold and the other one was super hot, and wrap was falling apart. I would have hope so that at least after waiting almost 15minutes for one single small wrap it will hot (not only half). Reading the review I can see where the customers coming from and in my opinion management should really retrain all staff members including ‘shop’ manager (if there is actually any)
