The 36 best cheap eats in Boquete

I really wanted to like this place and I was very happy that they had a vegetarian menu. I ordered the mushroom onion spinach enchiladas however, and I got three tortillas full of fried onions with almost no mushroom slivers or spinach at all. I was quite disappointed so my advice to anyone who is thinking of ordering that dish is to ask for it without onions so that you actually do get some mushrooms and spinach!

I have been in the modern cafe on the back. It belongs to Sugar and Spice Boquete, too. First visit. The lemon cake was very very sweet. Too much for me. The cappuccino was okay. Second visit. I had an apple cake which was very good. Only the price was too high for this small piece of cake. Than I tried the chocolate cake. It was not so sweet as the lemon cake, much more better. And the cappuccino was much more better. Strong and tasty.

Where are the sidewalks for pedestrians to walk on? I understand your best intentions to accommodate customers by providing as much parking space as possible, but by doing so, this is an accident waiting to happen. Somebody can get killed outside of your establishment. I like your place, don't get me wrong, I think the food and bread is 5 stars, therefore the bad score is due to the lack of sidewalks exclusively. On occasions, I’ve seen bigger cars that even take a bit of the road forcing pedestrians to walk on the road, and as you know, it's a busy road. This is really bad. I know this is not the only place where this happens, in fact, walking in Boquete sometimes feels like an adventure video game with all the obstacles. However, responsible businesses with similar parking arrangements have put the sidewalk in front of the cars, like the dollar store nearby. Your place have pots with plants, which looks nice, but it makes even your customers risk their lives having to go behind the parked cars because there is no room to walk elsewhere. You have a successful business which a lot of people like, please do something about this before something bad happens.

This place is awesome. The hot chocolate is a sensual experience you won’t soon forget. The best I’ve tasted anywhere - by far. There is indoor seating, or sitting on the balcony taking in the vibe off the streets below - which we like. The coffee is also excellent. The staff are super friendly and speak English well. This is a daily coffee haunt for sure.

Came here for breakfast for my family of 4. The food and service was great and best of all my picky kids ate everything off their plates.

VERY popular, thus crowded, place with indoor and outdoor seating. Although busy, service was quick. Their bread looked good, but I haven't tried it yet. The blueberry danish and cappuccino were very good though. Extensive vegetarian menu!

Pleasantly surprised. Recommended by a friend, the menu is fantastic something for everyone. We started with pizza for appetizer, we had some salad and wine, then ordered main courses. Everyone share if you bites just to check it out. The pork chop, beef, fish and truffle dish worth it. We two bottles of the Chilean Cabernet. The price super reasonable.

We came for lunch and it took much longer than expected. When asked about how they were “farm to table” the waiter said he didn’t know because he was new. We tried a few items including the chuleton, gnocchi, pasta and pizza and none wowed me. I specifically requested the seafood pasta for the kids not to have any greens/herbs on it and it came with it. Not what I expected.

We had a delicious and relaxing meal here on a rainy night. We tried the passion fruit sour cocktail of the day (you won me over at sour and passion fruit) and it was fantastic. We split the foccaccia with rosemary and salt that came straight out of the wood fired oven. My partner loved his seafood spaghettoni and I cannot recommend the tagliatelle with homemade sausage enough. They did not skimp on the sausage and I had tons with every bite and it may have been the best sausage I've had in years. So good!

The food at this restaurant is amazing!! The beef carpaccio for starters was so good that we ordered a 2nd. For main we had the chicken dish and the truffle pasta and they were both also great, reasonable prices and good sized dishes. Only downside was disorganised service…. the restaurant wasn’t busy but had to ask multiple times for a bottled drink which ended up taking 20 mins to come out.

We were a walk-in party of 10 and had the pleasure of sitting at a table overlooking the kitchen. Our experience was top-notch, with Armando as our server. He was attentive and knowledgeable. If he was uncertain of a question one of us had he didn't hesitate to confirm it with the chef. Our food was unbelievable, the mushroom bisque on special was literally to die for, seriously, I will never stop thinking about that soup. Everything from the beef carpaccio to the homemade pastas were flawlessly executed and the courses were delivered within reasonable times between each other, no feeling of being rushed or waiting around for food. It was an excellent experience — we can't wait to return to Boquete to visit this restaurant again. Thank you to Armando, the chef, and the entire RetroGusto team!

Restaurant recommended by an Italian friend definitely did not disappoint. It was absolutely packed on Sunday afternoon, so we had to wait but it was worth. We really enjoyed all different types of pasta and pizza. The kitchen is open so you can see the whole cooking process. I would advise to look around or ask the waiting person for daily specials, because we actually ordered outside of the regular menu, out of the blackboard and it was a great choice. Drinks were good as well. If I'll be around I'd happily pass by again.

Delicious chicken salad and burger. Service was friendly and attentive. Sitting in the back garden area was relaxing. No regrets coming here.

First of all, the atmosphere was amazing, that's for sure. There was great live music and a good vibe But now to the food. We waited more than an hour for our food. I ordered a vegetarian salad for 12.49$ (!!!!) What I got is just a few green leaves with little break crumbs and a SMALL amount of cheese I felt like I was hungrier after the salad then before. Way too EXPENSIVE for what you get. This was literally scam.... Never again...

Great lunch /dinner spot. We enjoyed some prawn tacos (with the corn shells it was gluten free. The café frappe was perfect! Forgot to take photos, but they are also dog friendly!!

Food is pretty good, although pretty sure the fries were frozen and very small portion with a burger. Drinks are good and reasonably priced. The party deck in back is very comfortable and beautiful with plenty of greenery and different choices for seating. Also pet friendly! Service was pleasant but not particularly upbeat, although a Wednesday evening visit may not be their ideal service time, as it wasn't particularly busy. Lots of expats as well as locals in the mix. Recommend for a quick bite, and more so for a couple of margaritas . (They were out of mint for mojitos 😉)

When entering the restaurant you are greeted nicely and taking you back to the restaurant since it’s pet-friendly 🐶 and the service were nice throughout the lunch. They had many option to chose from in the menu, in the end I chosen Ensalada Cobb 🥗 y and cold tea☕️ but the tea was pretty sweet and the salad was very good 👍🏻. The restaurant was surrounded my natured 🌲 which allowed you to take your dog 🐶 for a walk if your dog 🐶 doesn’t wanna stay still or it feels like it wanna take a bathroom. Overall, a great place to eat at if your on a budget and this restaurant provided large portion size for a reasonable price. (With just the salad 🥗, I was pretty full from it)

We have dined here twice since we arrived. The selection of menu items is fantastic! Their alcoholic drinks are strong! The first one I had - a blue lagoon was tasty, my husbands margarita was super strong. I then tried a Long Island and I could not stomach more than a few sips. They were even kind to water it down and it was still extremely strong! They take care of a feral felons colony which I think it amazing. They do not risk you, the views are lovely & they allowed us to practise our Spanish with such patience!

👎🏻 The only bad part is the booking process if you want a reservation. They are slow and inefficient. We were even taken to a smaller table in the end. Food wise all of us (7) had different breakfast options and they were all ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ great, no complaints really. ✅ Observations 👉🏻 Omelettes 🍳🥚 will be a bit runny, so if you like really cooked eggs be sure to say so beforehand. 👉🏻 They go reallyyyy light on salt 🧂 if at all so you will probably add a tad bit or more.

3 years ago I got married at The Rock because it was our favorite restaurant in Panama. Today I felt like I had dinner at a completely different place. Prices have gone up inversely proportional to food quality, which gets worse every passing day. I’ve never seen such a poor excuse for onion soup, it was plain cold brown water, and this is a classic that even rookiest of chefs can ace. The beef curry was mediocre at best, with overcooked unsalted rice, $19 for this plate is a scam. The dessert lacked flavor and felt like a bunch of random things put together. Even the bread they give you on the house was awful, it was 1 little piece to be shared among a table of 4, cold and crumbly. This place has turned into a full blown tourist trap.

Excellent dinner at The Rock, best meal we had here in Boquete. Loved the cocktails and the tuna nori app. The roast-your-own marshmallow after dinner was a nice whimsical touch. Fantastic vibes right on the river. Family and kid-friendly, dogs too.

I had a surprise birthday party for my husband at The Rock. The whole experience was great. Since we had a large group I met with the Diogenes, the Manager and Evie the event planner.a week prior to the event The night of the event the tables were set up beautifully and with the extra touch of fresh flowers on the tables. And the tables were set up in the area of the restaurant with a fire pit and an extra table for the cake and gifts. The wait staff, Elias and Joanna served our large party quickly and accurately. The food and ambiance were excellent. It was a lovely party and the guests and the birthday boy were very happy. If you are thinking of having your event at The Rock just do it. You will not be disappointed.

Two of us had dinner here 3 days ago. The service we received from Roosevelt was stellar. He was friendly, attentive and not invasive. The food was not good. The fish in the seviche was submerged in a too thick coconut cream. I had to drain the chunks of fish on my plate. A light coating of the sauce would have been pleasing. Why oh why, have food swimming in it? The fish was fresh and had a nice, sweet taste. The chili flavor from it's marinade though was almost undetectable. My husband's mushroom soup was lackluster in taste and was served luke warm. His Sea Bass tasted like it had been frozen So it either had been or was old. The fish was overly sauced. I'd asked for my burger to be cooked medium rare. It came to the table well done. The cheese, the cheapest kind of American possible. You know the kind that doesn't really melt into a nice gooey topping, but instead remains the plastic square it always will be even after the attempt of melting it? The burger's texture was something like I've never experienced. It had no "give" when bitten into. An almost mushy mouth feel. And remember, this was a well done burger. So who knows what is in the mix. The bun was hard. The cold fries were served with {again} the cheapest possible classic accompaniment. That ketchup which is like a red sugar pudding. Cloyingly sweet with not the slightest hint of tomato or acid. If fries are on your menu, PLEASE, serve em with the real stuff. Do your best people! Little things are important. In closing; we talked to our server about most of these issues, neither one of us in the mood to send anything back. The atmosphere in the dining room is warm, cozy and attractive. We had great martinis and a relaxing experience, so we didn't want to disrupt that. After the the complimentary marshmallow roast, a manager approached us asking how things were and we gave a light report without going into too much detail as we felt we'd already conveyed our disappointment to our server. The manager gave us no compensation other than to say he was sorry.

This was, without a doubt, the best meal I had in Panama. The drinks were delicious, hand-crafted, and fresh, perfectly complementing our meal. Each dish was a symphony of flavors, with ingredients working beautifully together. Our waiter was knowledgeable and accommodating, skillfully navigating our Spanglish to ensure we had a wonderful dining experience.

I had the Huevos Rancheros, which were delicious. It was a good serving and included some fresh fruit. Service was good, too. The coffee was very good and the perfect compliment to the food.

Best Breakfast in Boquete! We are at several other spots during our trip and this was by far our favorite. And you can tell a place is good when you see locals eating there every morning. With the name “Sandwich Shop” we weren’t expecting it to be this good for breakfast but it delivered big. Bacon, Egg, Cheese sandwich was outstanding. Bread was fresh homemade and very thin light crisp with soft middle and bacon was a super thick piece of meat with very little fat. The strawberry salad was fabulous. Fresh local veggies with fresh local strawberries full of flavor. And food was served fast and service was outstanding.

I had heard so much about this place, I just had to try it. Now I have been three times and I have only been in Boquete 10 days!! That's gotta say something! The place is often packed but I have always found a table inside or out. And luckily enough, they allow Stella, my beautiful Labradoodle, to come as well. The patio is my fave but it really doesn't matter as long as you have a table. First time I ordered the Thai Wrap. OMG! It was so incredibly delish! It had everything in it! It was hot and juicy. I burnt my mouth but I kept on eating. LOL. I still think about that wrap! Next time I went I had a burger! Now I am a burger snob! But this was a whole level beyond AWESOME! First off it was HUGE! Just the patty alone was thick, juicy and well cooked. Then it had all the fixings. Plus they brought some ketchup for the fries. And those were fresh and hot! Yummy! And although it was tough to beat the other two dishes, I ordered the chimichangas. Now I have had some pretty good chimichangas in my time but nothing like these. And with the hot sauce, they were to die for. To Die For!! Plus they came with rice and beans and a salad!! Nothing I ordered was more than 8$. Wow!! Even with the Canadian exchange, it was inexpensive!! So would I recommend the Boquete Sandwich Shop? YES, emphatically, YES!! Another bonus I found was the other customers. They were all so friendly. I met some really kind people there. And so helpful to this newbe! I will definitely go back. But I will try something new! Maybe a breakfast, which is available all day long!! How sweet is that?!! Come and check it out. I guarantee you won't leave disappointed!

Great food, great service, outside dining. The salad was extraordinarily good, breakfast was well cooked with fluffy pancakes, fruit and bacon.

The bathrooms and up front areas are all nice and clean. You can count on consistently good food with attentive and pleasant servers who act like they want to be there. Sometimes the food doesn't all come at one time which leaves one of us with a cold plate of food waiting. We've been here a few times and have been always pleased. The burgers and breakfasts are great and there is even a good selection of vegetarian choices. It's usually busy and we will go back

Great little spot for breakfast and they serve it all day. Many many items on the menu and I plan to try every one of them. Highly recommend a beer and any sandwich for lunch. The beer mugs are ice cold and ice encrusted and hands down the coldest beer mugs I have ever seen. Cute servers too, and some........ very cute. I see some whining and crying from one and two star reviews. Just goes to show you.... you cannot be all things to all people... all the time. Best you entitled snowflakes with allergies and intolerances (and kids) go to McDonalds or Burger King for their healthy choice options. Update: It was suggested I re-think the short paragraph that previously occupied this space. Can be a bit of a rambler at times. No harm intended except to the entitled who come to this country with no more thought than getting into their Lexus and driving 40' to their mailbox in LA. Whose hungry?

Very good breakfast and lunch menu. We were here for brunch. Service was good and servers was friendly. Due to the volume of people our meals came out as they were ready so some of our party had eaten before the others were served but that was the only flaw in an otherwise great meal.

Generous portions. Quick service. Potent seasoning but great taste. Good looking spaces. Prices for the foods are a bit high though if ur smart about ur order you'll leave happy for the price and portions you received. Wouldn't recommend it you're on a tight budget. Parking is a bit smaller than I would've expected for such a big restaurant. Nice place to eat at if you've just arrived and it's your first time here and need a good tasting, "big plate", mainly protein source energy boost. Those platters to share are no joke either. You'll leave happy and full.

Good service. Expect to pay high prices for normal food. If the beautiful large windows are open then there will be plenty of flies after your food. My hamburger was overcooked and just warm when served.

Good attention and cozy environment. They have a varied menu and his speciality are the meats. I don´t recommend very much the pizzas, the mass is not well cooked sometimes.

I didn't use the restroom but it seemed clean. Overall the food was great and the view spectacular. The servers were very nice but the service not worth the high prices. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks and it was nearly empty with about equal number of staff to customers. The brought a small shot of coffee and a side of milk which couldn't be poured in the coffee. I got the Covina which was hot and very tasty. Lynette got and unbelievable tower of vegetarian nachos and was very satisfied--unusual in Boquete as a vegetarian. For the prices and service, probably would not come back despite great tasting food and perfect view..

Very disappointed in both service and the food. The meat is 0 juicy, taste like carton. The plates have nothing to do with Argentinian. It’s just a Leños y Carbon, but much worse and more expensive.

I order a pizza and it was bad cooked. Service is mediocre. Music there sucks, atmosphere is meh ok i guess. May be good place to spend with family.

This is a chill spot right on the river. The owner we were told is an old Chicagoan so we had to make a stop. It's cash only, they don't take credit cards. Sometimes they close early too so who knows. It's also filled with expats from Canada and the US so brush up on your English haha

Great spot! The food is really good and the atmosphere is very pleasant. It seems to be a popular choice with American travelers/expats.

The service was excellent but the food was only average. I had the fish and chips and my wife had a hot dog with fries. Although the fish itself was tasty, it was not fried long enough leaving both the batter and parts of the fish too greasy and soggy to eat. The fries on both of our plates were also under fried and lacked seasoning. The place was full of locals really enjoying the live music and with $2 local beer, you can have a good time sitting on the outside patio by the stream. I was impressed that the owner/chef came out and touched tables and there was a lot of cool stuff from around the world on the walls.

Very friendly atmosphere. You could feel like you visit your older brother who let you feel like at home. The food is delicious - fresh cut fries and the fried pickles just fantastic. Totally recommended. Thank you Mike for such a great time.

Superb food, cheap beer, excellent service... Mike's Global Grill is the place. This is where I'm hanging out while I'm in Boquete. The beer is good and cheap, service is excellent, and Mike is an outstanding chef. The menu is varied and daily specials are globally oriented, as well as of superb quality. Taco Tuesday is excellent, but for my money Fried Chicken Fridays are totally off the chain. Highly, HIGHLY recommeded!

Great place in Boquete to get a good American cheeseburger. Mike’s has a comfortable atmosphere and is usually filled with a good number of ex-pats. All the staff speak English so there is no problem getting just exactly what you order. Every now and then one craves a great cheeseburger !

You HAVE to visit this place when you are here. The lobster (only half of it in the pic) and langoustine’s are incredible; and the home homemade coleslaw is perfect. Very local, family feel with a really friendly waitress. What a fantastic, surprising place.

If you like fresh fish, this is the place to go! Our Taxi driver recommended this place, and for good reason! We had the house famous fish and chips and a Yucca crusted Corvina. Super tasty and big portions for a great price! It took a little long to come out, but it was worth the wait. Very fresh and tasty!

Had dinner at this casual dinner spot. Food was ready quickly and seafood was fresh. I got the corvina with ahrimp in a garlic butter lemon sauce...it was delish and staff was very friendly. Margarita was delicious as well. Menu changes but is written on a board near entrance. Had no issues speaking English but the staff will patiently work with your Spanish as well!

I had the salmon with pistachio crust and it has been one of the best meals from my 5 months of travelling across Latin America. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was amazing. The waitress was super friendly and the prices were very reasonable.

Big points! One of the few restaurants in Boquete that has paper towels in the restroom! Woo woo. Stopped in for a drink only. The space is clean and well-kept, and the clientele skews older with an upscale feel. The bar layout is a bit tight—table spacing makes it awkward to sit solo—but staff was courteous. One standout: real paper towels in the bathroom, which is rare and appreciated.

Excellent fish spot! Hubby had fish and chips which he ate every bite and I had the Salmon with garlic butter. The side salad was surprisingly good, rice was cooked great and the combo of it all was perfection. Salmon tasted fresh and the sauce was spot on. I asked for it to be cooked medium which it was. Next time I’ll get it medium rare.

It was a wet and miserable evening. We did want a delivered meal but we ended up coming to the restaurant. There was plenty of seating available. I ordered a calzone. It was lovely. The staff were very friendly. It feels cozy here. I would come back.

Back 2nd time in a week. Simply great tasting pizza baked in wood burning oven, at great prices! Ambience is cozy and music soft enough you can visit if with friends. We had the all meat and magherita and both were tasty, crispy crust and service so amiable. The focaccia top with fresh cherry tomatoes, fragrant olive oil and pesto is my favorite ($5). Love this place and definitely back again in the next week before we leave Boquete.

Lovely pizzas at $8 a pop. They offered stick-to-your-teeth vegan cheese for the kids, but the vegetarian pizza without queso was great for the grown-ups!

Would you like a taste of the old world? Authentically crafted, in a quaint, and friendly atmosphere. Near the top of the hill in Boquete (Rt. 41) sits Otto's, an homage, if you will to old world italian dining. Unpretentious offerings, friendly service, in a casual setting to let you enjoy your dining experience, and the company of your choosing, to pass time along. Has all the charm of Italy, with dine in, take out, or takeaway items. From pasta to panini's, there is something to satisfy your palate. Inexpensively priced, but deliciously good.

Got some lunch here, I order the veggie lasagna and it the portions quite is quite generous. Flavor wise it was good.

The food was delicious! The service was amazing. There's a host named Brad who does an amazing job of getting the order and setting the food items on the table somehow without interrupting the conversation. Also very reasonably priced for the area!

I got the vegetarian lasagna, which was excellent! The panni cotta was good too. Friendly attentive staff, good service, very fair prices! Will definitely return! (They actually make their own noodles from scratch! The chef was working with the dough while we watched.)

Good food, nice presentation and prompt service. On point. The pana cotta was very good! Compare to other restaurants in Boquete that are way over priced Otto is right on the money. Definitely worth couple more visits.

Amazing ice cream! The perfect dessert after a long hike ☺️ We ate there every single day we were here and even stopped our shuttle on the way out of Boquete for one last delicious ice cream Defiantly a highlight of our trip.

Love this gelato shop! Staff is nice (most speak some English). Generous portions. We tried lots of the flavors over 5 weeks and loved all of them!

Nice little shop with friendly and attentive servers. I didn't use the bathrooms but everything seemed very clean. We got veggie liquados with cucumber, celery, pineapple, and ginger. It was fresh and bright with flavor--yes the choices I made did not especially complement one another. But it met the nutritional standards set by the great Jack Lalane, "If it tastes good spit it out." We go here several times a year because they perfectly satisfy our yummy glands! We will come back.

I tried coffee and coconut ice cream it was. 2.00$ for one icecream ball. I truly enjoyed the coffee flavor since locally they grow coffee in the región. Next time I would like to try Strawberry. They also have different sorbet flavor such as blackberry, sour sop, pinapple and strawberrry

We took 1 Black and 1 New York ribeyes. The New York was good, the Black a bit too Koch done but still very nice. Overall positive express.

The food was nice. We ordered a starter but they brought out our mains directly (the waiter probably just forgot). We ordered the lobster and Argentinian Tenderloin steak with Parmesan truffle fries. The lobster was good, but the steak was ordered as medium but it came VERY rare. Maybe we just landed on a bad day. A little more on the pricey side.

Very tasty steaks! Was cooked perfectly and very tender. Loved the selection of sauces and salts. Loaded Baked potatoes were great. Bartender is awesome! I recommend trying "a night in boquete" drink. I read about it in another review and tried it, wasn't disappointed. Only complaint, Our server wasn't very friendly or attentive. Too bad for him because I usually tip very well.

Overall good food. The meat was well cooked, and tasty but the fries were way too salty! The burger was also salty. Portions are good. I recommend the fried shrimps as starters, those were delicious 😋! The Night in Boquete drink was also very good and original! We did not have the best service though. Our waiter did not smile at all and was not very attentive. I had to ask three times for my drink unfortunately. He seem to be preoccupied by the other tables more even when taking our order.

Panama 🇵🇦 for the WIN!🥇 Normally we would always choose Argentinian meat but driving around Boquete the cows seems so healthy and happy we decided to try the local Panamanian beef and WOW what an amazing piece is meat. Super tender and melted in your mouth. And not loaded with butter like in the US. This was premium high-quality beef. Panama 14oz is what we ordered. As a starter we had the Beef Carpaccio which was outstanding with fresh herbs and veggies. Also, the steak came with a wonderful side salad with fresh local greens that was very good as well. Overall the food was amazing and the service was great.

Wow, the food is top notch, 5 star, I opted for the skirt 12 ounce steak from Argentina. Spot on perfect, tender juicy a flawless med-rare. It came with a delicious green salad [or fries or a baked potato]. There was an assortment of various salts which was fun. And the wine list excellent and fairly priced. I went by the glass since I was solo, a delicious Malbec for $6- per copa! A bargain! The room is great with a vibe reminiscent of an old New York steakhouse, charming bar, dark woods, good lighting, an a pleasant all around 1st class pub. Loved it. But alas, perfection is flawed by poor amateurish service. Despite being the only guest there, No one greeted me as I entered or smiled, I felt unwelcome, when my wine glass was empty, no one asked if I wanted another, I had to wave the server down, who was engaged with the bartender. After my delicious entree, No one offered me dessert or coffee, just plopped the bill down with no comment. I paid cash and the change was placed, without a check holder unceremoniously on the table top, no thank you, nada. Rude. It makes me sad that a great place that gets so much correct, is marred by an untrained service team. Hint to servers: get off your cell phones!

We came to Morton’s Bake House for lunch with a group of 12—and everything was absolutely perfect. From the moment we walked in, the service was attentive, warm, and incredibly accommodating for a large group. Every single dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether it was the hearty mains, fresh salads, or the baked goods that followed—everything hit the mark. It’s not easy to impress a group of twelve people, but Morton’s delivered across the board. Highly recommended for both small and large gatherings. We’ll definitely be back!

We went here almost every morning to get our coffee and bagels. The place has a cute interior and the service was always 10/10. You can also order delicious pastries like cinnamon rolls. Best ones we've tried yet. 100% would recommend this bakery.

Maybe the best bagels in the whole panama, and great fresh bread, coffee, sandwiches and pastries. Great ambience and beautiful seating. It's rare to have a strictly kosher place somewhere like boquete.

You need to make an appointment for the bee tour but you can see the butterflies without an appointment. There is a fee, you cannot see the butterfly garden for free. There are lots of different butterflies and they give you a short tour explaining the different types of butterflies and what their cocoons look like. They have teas and coffees for purchase as well as honey and a gift shop. The butterfly garden is not too big but you can sit and enjoy for a while.

Definitely a must visit in Boquete. We did the full tour (butterfly and honey). The gardens are beautiful and there are plenty of stingless bee hives to see. The butterfly garden is a butterfly oasis with tons of butterflys and exotic plants to see. We took the tour in English and our guide was amazing. She was very knowledgeable and took her time. You could tell she truly cared and was invested. The honey tasting was the best part. We tasted a lot of different varieties of honey and was amazed at the different flavors. This is the type of tour you can do more than once and still appreciate it each time. It is worh the money and we will definitely have to do it again next time we are in Boquete

My wife and I had a great time touring Boquete Bees and Butterflies. Our tour guide name Quetzal, who I ended up calling Q, because his name start with Q and it was easier to pronounce, to which he was ok with. Quetzal was very knowledgeable about Bees and Butterflies, we learned so much that I shared some of my video with a Beekeeper from Sugar Land, Texas and she was very impressed. The honey testing was fun and awesome he shared 20 different types of honey with us. The Butterflies Exhibit was out of this world, as soon we got in we had butterflies all over us and the class about butterflies breeding was very informative!!! Overall we had a superb experience at the Boquete Bees and Butterflies.

We took the full tour, and it was amazing!! Our guide "Quetzal", was very professional and knowledgable about the different bees, and how they polinize and gather nectar to produce honey. They have several types of bees, but only stingless for the tour. We visitef the butterfly enclosure and it was very beautiful. We also enjoyed 25 different types of honey! This tour is not to be missed!

Must have a reservation and prepay for the bees. The butterfly exhibit was informative and pretty. The gift shop was also very nice.

$12 entrance fee - too much… i am also not sure about this, the butterflies are ‘captured’. In wild only 1% gets a butterfly, but still to capture them….. If i knew, i didnt go… its a very small garden with 100+ butterflies, treated very well, lots of flowers and food availabe for them.

What an AWESOME vip tour of not only the butterfly house but all the gardens and bee hives, followed by honey tasting. Our guide Leissa explained all about the various variety of bees putting us at ease that these ones do not sting. She is truly an expert on the subject and was passionate about her job. The 3 hour tour flew by and not only did we learn about the bees butterfly's and plants but we got to sample about 20 different types of honey. Anyone who has even a mild interest in the subjects should visit. I can't recommend them highly enough.

One of the best highlights of my first trip to Panamá! The food was delicious. I highly recommend stopping by for lunch. The owners stopped by our table and welcomed us. Very sweet family owned establishment.

I had a great meal here provided by the American expat owners of the establishment. I ate bbq chicken with potatoes. My boyfriend had the same and said it was the best meal he had in Panama. The food was very fresh. And the owners were very friendly and welcoming. I noticed that others around me were eating salmon and potatoes, salads, and mushroom onion burgers. They also had mint lemonade and iced tea with agave sugar on the side. Their daughter has a bakery of sorts next-door and sells all kinds of goodies. If you’re in Panama and you’re looking for American inspired food, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I ordered the 1/4 chicken meal it was phenomenal fall off the bone chicken it was cooked perfectly the accompanying salad was fresh and yummy, my wife had the grilled chicken sandwich with onion rings and she said it was delicious and I agree since I ate her leftover the onions rings were light and yummy, the meal was so good we ordered a pizza to go. Try this place you will not be disappointed

The workers were amazing and the food was perfect. The loaded potato was so smooth and tasted like perfection. There was a mr potato head for my daughter Ziva to play. The Mac and cheese that she got was so creamy and delicious and the turkey burger that my son got was soft and very tasty. And the chicken meal was tender that my wife got was amazing

Was recommended by a local and it was definitely great food. Something my taste buds enjoyed the most till now in my trip to Panama. I asked for a hot sauce, which after tasting the salad, i did not need as the salad was already yummy! But after tasting the habanero sauce, it was awesome. They even sell the sauce. I loved that i did not have to struggle ordering in Espanol and could speak in English to the lady who took the order

Great to see some professionally presented food in a beautiful surroundings as opposed to the grub served in drab places so popular in Panama. Ceviche was good and so was the pepper soup somebody else praised. Then we had Tom Yum which wasn't Thai at all and was tad too salty but otherwise nicely presented and still edible. Beef tenderloin was done to perfection (medium rare). Too bad that the excellent truffle sauce was just dropped all over the plate. For dessert we had key lime pie? Cheesecake? And black forest german cake. This was a disaster. For key lime...Not enough lime and the crust was just pressed crumbs . A big no-no for key lime because the crust got soggy before even being served. Wrong kind of crust. My gourmand German husband described the purported black forest cake as "microwaved chocolate muffin. I guess this is a "no" Skip desserts and stick with what the chef is really good at. With a little improvement Boulder 54 could become The Restaurant in Boquete. Service was excellent.

Best Food in Boquete Panama!! We have eaten at Mesa Azul in Boquete Panama several times and the food has always been unbelievable. Chef Chris Young continually creates an exciting menu to satisfy the tastes of everyone. He only uses the freshest meats, seafood, fruits and vegetables, sourced from local vendors, to bring out the flavors of each dish and the presentation is a work of art. The bar creates delicious cocktails of all types including, the Chocolate Margarita, which is a must try for chocolate lovers. The restaurant has great ambiance and creates a relaxing atmosphere to meet friends, have a great meal and occasionally listen to live music from local bands. Chef Chris also owns several other restaurants in Boquete and they all have the same high quality of food!! Mesa Azul will leave you with an experience you won’t soon forget!! Kim and Dave

Delicious skirt steak (entraña) from their special menu. Unfortunately they were out of the scallops which were recommended on other reviews. Would definitely go back, however a few things which could be improved and kept them from 5 stars: service was on the slower side, and the meat was overcooked.

1 star because the Pork Shoulder was one of the worst, 5 stars because the pasta was one of the best. Averages out to 3 ☆☆☆ Great service, 50% of the food was great. Bill was $40, 2 meals, tip included, no drinks. Don't get the pork shoulder. It's a trap!

We had a fantastic experience at Mesa Azul! We went on prime rib night (Monday) and my husband and I had the prime rib- he had the 16 oz (massive!) and I had the 10 oz which left us plenty to take home.We chose the roasted potatoes with sour cream and cheese and they we perfectly cooked and very cheesy. We were also served a side salad of greens and carrots with a tangy, slightly sweet house dressing. The prime ribs were perfect medium rare, so tender and juicy and served with an au jus and a delicious horseradish sauce. A nice Cabernet Sauvignon rounded this out. Last but not least we had the flaming pineapple (!) it was half a pina cut and drenched in panama rum and lit on fire- this lent a nice Smokey flavor and was served with caramel sauce (wow- really good) and spice ice cream and a side of chocolate rum. It was surely enough for the two of us. Besides this great food the ambiance was so nice: we sat next to a flower garden with a pond and the frogs crooned to the soft jazz playing in the restaurant. The server and the manger were attentive, informative and shared some laughs with us. We’re not from here and maybe locals take this kind of place for granted but it was truly special for us and we’ll be back again before we leave.

Champagne tastes on a beer budget. Fantastic food, an expansive wine list, classic cocktails, and great service for what you'd pay at Red Lobster back in the States. Chris is passionate about food and Panama. You owe it to yourself to go.

I stopped by one afternoon to check out a couple of Boquete Brewing beers, and things started off great because it was happy hour! I started with an Aqua Selva brown ale followed by a SMASH American pale ale. I enjoyed both and must return to sample more of the menu. Check them out!

Great place for a craft beer in Boquete. We enjoyed our IPA and sour and had the weather been nicer, we would have come back to try the stout. It has a good indoor area if the weather isn't great. Random note - whoever picked the music must have been exactly my age because all the songs were my playlist from middle school and early high school. :)

Boquete Brewing Company has a cool setup and often features great live music — it's got the kind of laid-back vibe that draws you in. The beer list is varied, and while a few options show promise, most taste like the brewer got distracted halfway through the recipe. Bonus points for serving it all in plastic cups, which really elevate the craft beer experience to “backyard barbecue meets college kegger.” Then there's the bathroom. Wow. If you're nostalgic for that one gas station off a deserted highway, you're in for a treat. Honestly, it feels like no one’s checked on it since the place opened. It’s a shame, because with just a bit more effort — like caring — this could be a fantastic spot. Here’s hoping someone eventually notices.

I dropped into Boquete Brewing on a Monday, and was informed they are closed on Mondays. However, while talking to one of the brew master's, he offered me to tour their brewing facility. I asked him several questions, and he was very knowledgeable in their process. He explained how they brew three times weekly and keep up with their demand. I returned the next day to taste and sample the variety of beers. All the beers I tasted were fantastic. I wish they had flights of beer, however, I was there during happy hour, and the beers were all served in pint glasses, and were $3.20 no matter the ABV content.

Great boutique beer spot with friendly staff, good priced drinks and SOURS for the cervesa specialists out there. Loads of seats and tables, some cool swinging chairs, bean bag toss game, dog friendly, family friendly… this place has it all! Band started at 8:30pm on the Thursday night we were there. Great 90’s & 00’s rock otherwise. Food Truck was great also! I’ll be back! Maybe even tonight… 😁

One of the only places we could find in Boquete where they serve traditional Panamanian food. You can pick any dishes you want and you will pay around PAB 5 - 10. The food was really tasty. The atmosphere is a bit like in a canteen but somehow it feels cozy.

A really good local spot with loads of different options. You can select from the pre-made food or order something from the menu, both of which were great. Super quick service and the staff went out of their way to make sure we got what we wanted, they quickly remade a plate for me after forgetting I ordered vegetarian and were generally really friendly. We ate here several times and paid around $10 for 2 people’s plates so the value for money can’t be beat!

Good, honest, local Panamanian food served in a cafeteria style setting. A full plate of food costs anywhere from $4-$8 depending on what you get. I ate there every night for a week and tried a different dish each night. My favourite was the hojaldres (fried bread)! So good!

Hate to leave negative reviews but we came here for a hot chocolate (expensive) that was warm at best. When we approached the baristas to ask them to heat it they were very rude. Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

I simply love their coffee and chai. Right now I'm enjoying the iced caramel sugar free latte. Really delicious. The food I have not yet tried, so cannot say anything. This place has an awesome WiFi 😄

We decided to go coffee shop hopping one day in coffee capital of Panamá in a village called Bajo Boquete. We picked out two coffee shops and Kotowa was one. They are in a small plaza and the store is cozy. Seating was available and guests friendly. Service was excellent as was the coffee. Look, this in the best coffee in the world. We never had a bad cup or tumbler 😉. They have pastries and chocolates to pair with your brew. Highly recommended, so it's worth making the trip from wherever you are to experience a better cup than you can imagine. My beautiful wife said, "we've been drinking trash" in the USA and paying 3 to 4 times the real price. From now on, we're ordering Panamanian coffee from that company with the name of a Brazilian river...🤷‍♂️😂👍💯

Our favorite Cafe shop in Boquete and our first stop when we come to town. Great coffee, staff, and location. We enjoy sitting at the tables just outside in the Los Establos Plaza and taking in all the activity around us in this central location.

This is a nice place to meet for coffee. There is parking in the front, and a cute, quiet room in the back. Coffee and food are good. Prices aren't super cheap but I will be back because it is a nice place to go.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the town for 4 nights, and had visited this restaurant 3 times. The food was so great and the interior design was also inspiring. I love the moment when we were both amazed by the first bite of the ceviche. We are so in love with the whole menu, the chilling evenings..💕

Nice restaurant (can’t miss the purple paint) with good food and atmosphere! We had a table outdoors that still felt cozy and the food and service were good. Pizzas were good. Fried chicken was more like 2 large pieces of chicken tenders. The short rib with tamales de olla was great! So tender.

I have no complain. This was a lovely experience. Food was high quality. I ordered a burger and my parents ordered a meal with rice and chicken, and patacones and chicken, also a seafood guacho (It's like a Rissotto). The taste of the food was incredible, it tasted so fresh and the flavors were so good. Also I appreciated they put the tomatoe and the spicy part of my hamburger on the side. Bathroom was super clean too. The owner came to ask us how our food was and the attention was super nice. It was expensive but totally worth it.

An absolute gem of an Italian restaurant! We had an amazing lunch here — everything was perfect. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a relaxed and warm atmosphere. We had bruschetta, a delicious soup, and an unforgettable dish with eggplant and shrimp — all beautifully presented and full of flavor. And the best part? They offered a free taxi to the restaurant and even brought us back to our hotel afterward!

This restaurant is super clean, and has a warm, tasteful ambiance. We had the best vodka martini here since we left the states in April, traveling in Spain and Panama. It was well shaken, cold and icy. The pasta dishes were seasoned perfectly, not overly sauced, the pasta cooked al dente. The one thing I would have done better for the pasta I had, is pan roast the cherry tomatoes longer. Their tender crisp texture was possibly intended. But longer in the pan would have lent them a richer, deeper, sweeter taste. The salad was fresh and the dressing scrumptious. We liked the garlic bread, it was light, crispy and again, perfectly seasoned. I was served an off (old) glass of Cabernet which was graciously replaced after I expressed my discontent with it. A quick whiff of the bottle or glass from the bartender before serving would have negated the situation. The servers here are incredibly friendly. They took care of us with warm efficiency. The restaurant's bathrooms are CLEAN! I appreciate the effort there because it reflects on the value the restaurant has for it's patrons and it makes for better overall experience. Seeing the kitchen mats being cleaned outside every morning on my runs tells me attention to clean detail runs throughout the whole place, We will go back!

Wandered into Tre Scalini with friends last week on a trip to Boquete. Service was wonderful and we all six of us enjoyed our dinners. Wine selection basic but good. If you’re thinking of an appetizer try the eggplant tower - delicious.

Food was very good. Portions were just right. Service was great. There when you needed them but not hovering. Background music was an interesting mix of mostly 70's and 80's American rock with some other stuff sprinkled in - a little different for an Italian restaurant.

Nice atmosphere and good food. Definitely a bit overpriced but that’s what you get in Boquete. They had a few nice vegetarian options and I loved my primavera pasta. The chocolate pie is definitely a recommendation, it was so yum!

Clean with attentive and pleasant servers. We shared mozzarella and tomato bread which was hot and pretty--all the dishes were the works of a proud chef. I had shrimp spaghetti which was hot and nicely al dente and not over--sauced. And I didn't have to ask for a pasta spoon. Lynette had the vegetarian pasta with a tomato gravy. Too bad they used ground instead of fresh parmesan cheese. We will go back even though at $15 for a plate of spaghetti is overpriced. It just won't be very often.

The gluten free spaghetti was amazing and the pepperoncini was one of the best dishes we've ever had. Be sure to finish your meal with tres leches. The ambiance in the restaurant is wonderful and the view towards the forest is beautiful. Truly one of the best fine dining experiences you'll find in this town.

I visited Boquete for two weeks and ate here twice. The guy working with brown hair - the only employee I saw working both times - plays amazing music!! (Deftones, Radiohead…) But most importantly, he is a very kind person! He remembered from my first visit that I picked the basil off of my margarita pizza, so when I ate here a second time, there was none on my pizza, without me changing my order of a margarita at all!! It is totally worth a visit!!! (or two) 😂😂

Sooo good! Authentic Italian, fresh, fast & delicious! The perfect quick bite after getting back from a hiking tour!! Loved it! And they did not use any single use plastic on our order - served the pizza on a tray lined with wax paper. Great prices too! A++

I had given up looking for a good thin crust pizza in Boquete so finding this Pizzeria was a pleasant surprise. The owner set the stage with a welcome greeting and assurance that his pizza rivaled that in Rome. I had the Meat Lover Pizza and my wife had a Pepperoni and both exceeded the owners promise and our expectations. We enjoyed a pleasant meal people watching on their covered outside tables and we now plan on a weekly visit to Italy - or as close as we have found so far in Boquete!

Delicious! The hot chocolate was really good (beware tho, it does have a lot of cinnamon in it so if you don’t like cinnamon, ask without or don’t have it). The banana bread was good too, it came warmed up. I came back again and tried the carrot cake and it was really good, thoroughly enjoyed !

Had a great latte with soy milk here, and a couple of dark pralines. The coconut one was great, the passion fruit OK. Have a large indoor seating, as well as an upstairs couches indoor and some tables outdoors (under roof). If you are unable to connect to the wifi, use a static IP address instead of DHCP.

Wow! The flavors are huge! Got the sea salt Carmel dark chocolate and passionfruit dark Chocolate and they were amazing! The passion fruit explodes with flavor in your mouth! I love that they are strong and not faint. The chocolate itself was very smooth and excellent! You can sit downstairs or they have a very comfortable upstairs area that even overlooks the city with an outdoor space! Coffee went very well with the chocolate!

Lovely little shop with the best hot cocoa I've ever had. I drank an iced mocha drink that was more exotic, rich and creamy than any I've ever had. That prompted me to buy a bag of Cho Col'Ha mix to add to my coffee every morning at home.

They are in a perfect location, right in the heart of boquete. Their hot chocolate is one of the best ever. The thing that they should work on its in the layout of the store. Their have all the products facing back to you when you enter. The store looks old, dark and outdated.

This is likely the best place in town for both coffee and chocolate. I thought the cappuccino was very good. It was even brought up to us on the second floor. I have to mention that the nanaimo bar was delicious. It is a chocolate pie with what seems like cream cheese inside. Very sweet but the quality of the ingredients is impressive. The second floor has couches, chairs and tables like that of a real cafe. It is cozy and relaxed. If you want the full visual experience, then sit on the outside balcony where you can watch the movement of people on the streets. The prices are high but that should not surprise you in this touristy spot in the middle of main street. The place also offers two paid activities - an on-site tour where you can taste the cacao and a class where you can create your own chocolate. According to their website, they practice social responsibility by helping local families in need. Very nice.

Coffee has a good taste with some cacao flavor. Actually they have a free cup of their own made cacao for testing. A lot of different sweets are a available, hadn’t try them, but they do looks delicious. You can also do a cacao crafting experience inside the shop.

Exceptional food, exceptional service. We came here 4 or 5 times in a week. Fish tacos and chicken tacos were outstanding. Margaritas were also very big and very good!

Hands down one of my favorite places to eat in Boquete! Everyone that works here is beyond kind, helpful and FUN! Best guacamole I've ever had! And I've eaten a lot of guac! The fish tacos are huuuge and the fish perfectly fried with panko crumbs. Chicken mole enchiladas to die for! The chilis rellenos are different than I'm accustomed to; no egg batter and healthier because they aren't deep fried plus they're absolutely delicious. They even have vegetarian dishes that my friend swears by.

I've read someone previously mentioning that there was a fish taste to the mushroom tacos, but I felt none of that.

I've come to this place once a year for the last 4 years and in the beginning it was excellent food and the strawberry lemonade smoothie was unforgettable but they have consistently decreasing the quality of the food. The taste, presentation and even the temperature of the food isn't right. And the smoothie now has been watered down. Won't be eating here again.

We bought Volcan and Geisha coffee yesterday. Unfortunately we didn't check the expiration dates immediately, Volcan coffee expires today. To make it even worse we came to the shop today morning to try to replace it, but the shop was still closed even though in Google Maps it says that it's open. After this experience we cannot recommend this shop. It's better to buy coffee directly at Don Pepe when you do a tour (also cheaper).

Very clean and comfortable for coffee and some computer work. Lynette loves their packages chai and the coffee is much better than what I buy ground in the store while being reasonably priced. The have few breads and brownies for munchies . Pleasant and cheerful server. Thank you!

This is not a place that I would recommend going to if you want a good cup of coffee. There cappuccinos taste watered down because they do not use a nice dark roast Italian instead they use just regular coffee which is weak and pretty tasteless. Also the atmosphere is dark with no lights on behind the counter.

As a health conscious flexatarian from Colorado with a wife who has gluten and dairy sensitivities, this store has basically everything we need. We were blown away by the selection and would honestly come here weekly if we lived in Boquete. I highly recommend checking this place out for supplements, gluten free and vegan items, plant-based products, and a wide array of healthy food. The prices were generally quite reasonable and they also have smoothies and baked goods!

This store was such a great find when my husband and I were in Boquete for the week. Besides having an incredibly extensive selection of wonderful foods that were safe for me to eat (I can't have gluten, dairy, or highly processed oils), they also have a counter in the back where they make amazing smoothies. Their Forever Young açai smoothie is sooooo good!

Most items are way overpriced so I started buying my products from Amazon and shipping them into Panama. For example Garden of Life plant based protein 19 servings is $41 and $2.50 shipping USD on Amazon. and Organic sells it for $57 USD. That's a 30% mark up. Many of the expats have been really upset and feel ripped off by Organica cleaning our clocks. What Organica does not know is that we all talk to each other.

This is a great store with tons of products. They even have Beyond Meat products. They are great. You can find spices, oils and grains that are all organic. They also have some essential oils, creams, and other body products. Yes, the products do cost more than non-organic but that is to be expected. But the absolute best product in this store is the fresh ground peanut butter. They grind it while you are there; you can't get any fresher than that. It is not creamy; it is a bit chunky but not like the brands. I am addicted to this. I bought one the first week and now I make sure I get two because I don't want to be without it. The customer service has been exceptional. I have enjoyed all the people who have helped me. I found them to be conscientious and considerate. Everyone has been very welcoming. I enjoy going to this store. I totally recommend this store.

I Ordered nachos mixta they were supposed to have carne and pollo with pico de gallo. Instead they had burned black beans no carne no pollo and something like mayonnaise instead of pico de gallo appeared to be microwaved and the whole mix was stuck to the paper and styrofoam it was served on. We asked if they could make another one and they refused and said that all they had was paper and would not do anything to correct the problem of paper cooked into the nachos. I had heard good things about this place and was badly disappointed.
