The 30 best cheap eats in Hoedspruit

Having a playground is a major plus, as this convinced us to try out the venue. The meat platter, springbok carpaccio and macaroni's are very good. One negative is the staff apathy. Twice I had to look for a waitron to order, then ask a question about desserts. When I wanted to pay I had to approach the bar as the waitron disappeared and nobody else was around.

The restaurant offers a wide variety of different dishes. The main specialty is grilled and focuses on beef fillet. Beef fillet with Roquefort and figs is a perfect dish in every way

Hat and Creek has really good food — everything tastes fresh and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the service completely ruins the experience. The waitresses are not kind or helpful at all, and it feels like they don’t care about the customers. It’s a pity because the place has potential, but the staff’s attitude makes it hard to enjoy the meal.

We came on a busy night, and I can only assume that's the reason we waited more than an hour for our food. As for the food, it was delicious. I ordered my steak medium, and in my opinion it was slightly over but close enough, and it was tender and delicious. The french fries were amazing, unfortunately they only gave me a very little bit. I think a total of 10 french fries and I'm not even exagerating. The plate was half empty and they only gave me 10 french fries. They were so good however, that I ordered an extra side of fries. My girlfriend had a beef dish that was also delicious. I will definitely be back, but if they skimp on the fries again I'll complain to the server about it, cause that was just weird and unnecessary.

Comes over as a smart upmarket venue but has a couple of flaws. The toilet area is the worst I have experienced in SA. A hand towel…really ?? Err…hygiene… Shambolic service. There was 13 in our party. 6 of us arrived at 6.30pm and we got our drinks AFTER THE other 7 had arrived, ordered and had their drinks. We waited almost 45 minutes for our drinks despite repeated requests. Food was fine. There is a lot of competition in the town and the H&C won’t get our custom the next time we visit.

It was my second time here, first time food was slow despite it not being busy. The fire outside was lovely. Tonight my daughter's food had the longest hair wrapped all around and through it. Our steaks are rare instead of medium and you will miss all of this if you are sitting outside due to the minimal light. I just happened to shine the lamp directly on the food.

Wonderful restaurant. Arguably best in Hoedspruit. Food is always delicious and well presented, whatever you order from their wide array. Unfortunately you'll hardly ever see management, let alone the owner/s, which makes it impersonal. Should you leave as one of the "last", you'll find the staff on their phones, or chatting. Great place to enjoy a few drinks or have a meal to eat. The food was tasty, service was great and a wonderful atmosphere under big trees. The sound of the trains passing by also seems to add to the atmosphere.

Great place to have lunch on the terrace under the shade of a beautiful mahogany tree. Food is very good, lots of different options to please everyone. Service is a bit long but food is well.worth the wait.

Most of Hoedspruit shut down by 6pm, so we found ourselves just hoping for something, anything, to eat. We set our bar low as we stumbled upon a very simple sign. Sleepers surprised us! The oxtail and pap hit the spot. The Gorgonzola pear avo pizza was amazing. Our kids loved the chicken burger, and our picky toddler devoured the Mac and cheese penne. The wait staff were helpful and attentive. The old train station atmosphere was quaint, and the fireplace was welcoming. We will tell everyone we know!

As a longtime Hoedspruit resident, Fig & Bean remains my go-to spot for meetings and coffee dates. The welcoming atmosphere has always been part of its charm, and the longstanding staff truly make the experience special. The team's warmth and care shine through with every interaction I've had with them. The menu is full of delicious choices, but I especially love their wraps and sandwiches. Their sweet potato fries are an absolute standout, and as a red cappuccino fan, I can confidently say they serve one of the best in town. Another highlight is their location in the Rock Fig Centre, where you’ll also find a variety of shops to explore from art and design goods to unique curios and specialty services. I highly recommend this beautiful establishment, whether you’re a local or a visitor passing through our AMAZING town!!!

In our opinion, the best Hoedspruit has to offer. Maybe not the poshest in the town, but a great vibe, lovely staff, excellent food (I had the best T-bone I've had in a long time) and incredible value. Maroela is under new management now, and they plan to put on a cocktail list - one of the new barmen is a mixologist - so we cannot wait to see how it looks when we return next year.

This is definitely the place to go for an outing! We were a group of 16 today and our waiter, Tinashe, didn't miss a beat. Got every single order correct, waiting time was good, he even managed to separate our orders from the mail bill. Will be back for sure!!

Extremely rude and unprofessional business owner. I called to confirm there was no gluten in my tuna poké takeaway. I had mentioned my intolerance to gluten when I first reached out on WhatsApp. I only realized there was seasoning on the poké when I got home. I never expected that because poké is supposed to be just raw fish. Anyway, at first, he alleged I was saying they use poor-quality soy sauce. I explained that I wasn’t saying that at all. Even high-quality soy sauce has wheat in it. Then he showed me on WhatsApp videos *in Chinese* of the soy sauce bottles they use. I don’t read Chinese and asked if he did. Turned out he didn’t either. He said his supplier “guarantees” it. I asked if he could send me pictures of the labels so I could use google translate to check if there was wheat. Being gluten-intolerant, I know that only Japanese Tamari soy sauce is gluten-free but I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He said he couldn’t do it right away even though he was showing me the bottles in the video. Then he accused me of only mentioning gluten “after the fact” when it was literally the message on WhatsApp that I opened with. The irony is that we were talking on WhatsApp. He repeatedly talked over me throughout the call. The cherry on the top was the statement that “you’re just taking the piss. I have a business to run,” at which point I hung up. I was professional throughout our interaction and was taken aback by such rudeness. I own a business myself and would never address a customer like this.

Stoned Olive Café – A Gem in Hoedspruit! If you’re ever in Hoedspruit, do yourself a favour and visit Stoned Olive Café—a true culinary delight that caters beautifully to both vegans and meat lovers. I was thoroughly impressed by their Moroccan chickpea phyllo pastry—flaky, flavourful, and surprisingly wholesome. It’s rare to find something so delicious that also feels like a healthy choice. Their menu strikes that perfect balance: diverse without being overwhelming, offering something for every palate while keeping things approachable. And the service? Sisie, our waitress, was an absolute star—pleasant, attentive, and warm, making the whole experience feel even more special. Without a doubt, this is the best restaurant in Hoedspruit, and I already can’t wait to return.

We love our local restaurant, The Hoedspruit Cafe! They have stunning food and the best milkshakes in town, love bringing family here when they visit from other provinces/ countries. It’s a great place to take the kids as they have an awesome playground for the little ones!

Amazing atmosphere, coffee was super, but the Portuguese Custard tart was a bit disappointing. Paying R50 for such a small tart is unthinkable, but the taste was so yummy. I would suggest baking it a bit bigger to get more value for your money and maybe add a bit more detail to plate and garnish the dessert. The Milktart muffin was delicious and also a bit expensive 😋. We will visit again!

Stopped here for a quick lunch, I had the chicken pie and my wife had the chicken mayo., both dishes were delicious. The service was good and there was something on the menu for everyone. The cakes looked delicious pity I never had any space for that...

The service is not good at all. Was sat down by a waiter, then waited just over 15 minutes just to get a menu. I had to stand up and ask the waiter if I could please get a menu and order drinks. Not a good first impression. Another waiter then later took my order by leaning on the table just to write down the order. Also has seemed like she had no clue about the menu. Had to repeat myself, and eventually just showed her in the menu what I wanted to order. Was honestly looking forward to dining here, but sadly I'm highly disappointed. 0 stars for service. On the other hand the food was absolutely amazing! Spot on! What a good Indian dish! Authentic, spicy, and flavoursome! Compliments to the chef!!! 5 stars for food!

We have always chosen to eat at this restaurant, despite Hoedspruit having many reputable eateries. However, after our lunch there on Thursday, I don't think that we will ever go back. Only after serving our less than satisfactory main course, were we told that the restaurant didn't have any electricity. The prices have also sky rocketed. Had a far better and cheaper meal, a days later at Fishaways.

What a disappointment! 28Sept 2022 Our last date night in hoedspruit was disastrous thanks to the below average food we got served. My husband ordered the 300g ribs with vegetables and I ordered the chow mein with fried rice and we had sushi for starters. The only thing that was enjoyable was the fried prawn California rolls. Which got me excited for the main meals. Our food took extremely long to get to our table , the restaurant wasn’t even that full. I regret ordering a main meal , my appetite was ruined. The beef strips were under cooked and hard , the fried rice was plain yellow rice with scrambled eggs! The vegetables? Horrible. I feel sick to my stomach . My husbands vegetables were under cooked as well. No salt, no pepper not even sauces were brought to the table. I’ve never been this under whelmed by food but tonight it’s safe to say that I’ve been disappointed , and it didn’t come cheap a whooping R464,00 later and my husband stopped at the KFC to get something else to eat. That should say ALOT about the food we got served This is a first and a last for us , it was supposed to be a perfect nice ending to our honeymoon #Neveragain

Food was brilliant, but service really needs improvement. Only 2 tables present. When we ordered wine, they had none. When we ordered gin and tonic instead. None as well. I know everyone is struggling during this pandemic, but didn't think this should affect basic service. At least we didn't have to pay corkage on the bottle of wine we fetched from our car. 😏

We decided to try out your restaurant today as felt like something Asian. For a Monday is was very quite with only another table of 8 people there today. Your waitress was friendly and polite but unfortunately your kitchen staff really let you down. For a quite day on Monday it took 1 hour and 20 minutes from ordering to receive our food of 1kids pizza, calamari strips and and a salmon poke bowl and a plate of side chips So the food was not good at all. The kids Pizza base was raw. My wife’s calamari was ok but ice cold and my salmon poke bowl was merely a deconstructed sushi roll, of half an avo, 5 slices of cucumber 75 grams of salmon and a cup of sushi rice My idea of a poke bowl is a whole lot more then what I received. May I suggest adding some edamame beans, carrots, spring onion and sesame seeds to garnish. The whole poke bowl was very plain and boring. Luckily your chips was crispy and tasty so I feel 2 stars is fair for getting that right at least. I did complain to your waitress about the time it took for service and the food and she was apologetic but did not seem to concerned about everything and just blamed the kitchen for it saying that you where under staffed only having 3 chefs in today to serve 10 adults and 3 kids that’s pretty poor at 1 chef cooking for 4 people so no excuse there. I don’t think we will be returning.

We went to try out this restaurant. We only had some sushi, but the things from their grill menu does look yummy. The sushi was good, we really enjoyed it. We just waited long for the food, even though they weren't extremely busy. They are also open during loadshedding, which is always a plus!

Waited for about an hour for our food, and when it came it was cold. The manager arrived to ask about the service and we causully mentioned that it took a little bit to long. She said they were busy werea bit busy. What she disnt realize was that we were there before anyone else. The place was empty when we arrived but waited so long for our food that after more then an hour the place filled up.

Ordered the delicious well know bacon, chicken and mushroom salad was always a big bowl and delicious salad sadly salad was much smaller and lots of lettuce on bottom and less of the rest on top Waiter was friendly and helpful. Avos was a bit brown on bottom not very tasteful.

18 04 2025 Cold Food, Incomplete Order, Missing Ingredients & Inconsistency We dined at Spur in Hoedspruit on 18 April 2025 as a group of eight. Despite the restaurant not being very busy, our experience was far from satisfactory. We decided to try the new **Nachos Quesadilla**, which is described as a tortilla filled with nacho chips, salsa, sticky cheese, chunky cottage cheese, and guacamole. Seven of us ordered it hot, while one opted for mild, along with an additional starter. When the food arrived, seven quesadillas were served along with the starter. Five minutes later, when we pointed out that one was missing, the waitress initially hesitated, claiming all had been delivered. After physically counting, she realized the mistake and placed a new order. Upon comparison, the mild quesadilla appeared to have a generous filling, while the others were noticeably thin. Additionally, the nacho chips in all of them were soft rather than crunchy, which was disappointing. Mine was missing cheese, and when I informed the waitress, she took it back, only to return the same quesadilla with cheese added instead of preparing a fresh one. The tortilla was in poor condition and looked unappetizing. A few minutes later, the manager came to apologize. When I pointed out that merely adding cheese and reheating the same quesadilla was not a proper solution, he initially laughed it off but changed his tone when he realized I was serious. He offered to make a new one, but I declined. Beyond this, there was noticeable inconsistency in the appearance of all the starters, and the fillings varied significantly. Most disappointing, the nachos inside lacked the expected crunch. While we paid the full bill and left, this experience was far from what one expects from Spur. If you could kindly share pictures of the donation, it would mean a great deal to me and my group. We value your effort to make amends and the goodwill you’ve shown in addressing this matter. When we pass through Hoedspruit again, we will definitely consider giving your Spur another chance. I visit a lot of Spurs. In every one of them the staff sings Happy Birthday to customers. At Silver wings they got a boombox, on full volume. It really feel like eardrums want to pop when they switch it on with birthday song for client.

Great place with nice vibe succulent meals and with a very rich menu and a variety to choose from,you choose your fish and the portion that you want,friendly staff but prepare to spend deeply in your pocket coz they are pricey...the down part was the toilet 🚻 I was shocked they were too tiny and dirty...

This was an absolutely abysmal experience! The ice cream tasted pretty bad, the chocolate sauce was old and congealed and the nuts tasted so old and disgusting I could not get the taste out my mouth...it lingered. The service was terrible and the cleanliness was not up to scratch! I think I paid nearly R200 for a coffee and two ice creams, I believe it was the extra concealed chocolate sauce that brought the price up... Thoroughly disappointing!

We had breakfast here during our stay, best flat bread breakfast I have ever had and my husband said his bagel was also the best bagel he has ever had, not overly bready and very tasty! The owners are friendly, everything is made fresh, the wait staff are attentive! To account for shortage in supply they have a grown a lot of their own herbs and veg. Really can recommend!

An absolute gem of a restaurant - the food is incredible; deliciously plated, cooked to perfection, a treat for your tastebuds! Try the aubergine open sandwich and litchi fro-yo - phenomenal. The setting is lovely, with greenery everywhere and the winter sun warming your back. The staff are friendly and helpful, willing to go the extra mile for your dietary requirements. A must-visit in Hoedspruit!

We stopped here for lunch and everything was delicious. My family loved the spaghetti bolognese, danni burger, smoked salmon salad, and mac and cheese balls. I had the falafel bowl with an iced rooibos tea—so good. Sitting outside was great, and the atmosphere really added to the experience.

Loved my dinner here so much I came back for lunch as well! I am a vegetarian, and there was enough interesting choices. I loved the aubergine open sandwich with home made bread and the falafel bowl. Nice vibe, good staff and owners came by to have a chat.

Really a cozy and lovely place in Hoedspruit for having great breakfast and more. Very friendly and attentive service. And from the rooftop you can enjoy a nice view. And don’t forget to try the lovely homemade cookies, which comes with any hot drinks. And not to forget their healthy juices. The Arugula is highly recommended and we did really enjoy to spend some time there.

My favourite restaurant in Hoedspruit. I feel welcomed and at home. The cocktails are great, the staff recognise you and always help. You can see they know what they are doing We had a shrimp scampi and a bacon burger, both were delicious. I can only recommend!

We were looking for a spot to have some breakfast on a Friday morning and stumbled upon this gem. It was Fiesta Friday, and we had THE BEST Mexican breakfast that we've ever had. I can not explain or describe the depth of flavor in the food we had. It was a decent serving, and we even took some food as takeaway. The service was great and the staff was friendly. The whole experience was lovely. The facilities were clean and well decorated. The overall atmosphere is very relaxed under the trees.

Terrible customer service!! Kitchen staff saw us waiting and never even bothered to greet or acknowledge our presence. Manager too busy on her phone to even notice customer's waiting for service. Once I was able to get her attention by waving around and calling her even though she was less than 2 meters from me, she still has the nerve to tell me that she's busy on her phone for work and I can wait. Absolutely unprofessional and inexcusable to say the least. It's beyond words how people can stare into a screen like a bunch of zombies all day and still expect a pay check.

The food was delightful. For a change, I tried something different, and I loved it. The rooftop sitting area is breathtaking. The mountain views Whilst enjoying your meals and drinks are spectacular. Definitely going back.

Best coffee I’ve had in a long time! I tried the cortado in the shop and it was excellent. I also bought some beans to brew at home, and loved the Blyde Good Blend and The Spruit Blend. The beans are also available to purchase at the Pick n Pay in town. You can tell they know their coffee!

Alerted to the roastery by the delicious smells wafting down the road. Now alongside Hoedspruit Cafe, so an opportunity to do a coffee tasting, as well as buy some of the delicious coffee

We showed up at the roastery and met Alex he was a delight and super knowledgeable the coffee was incredible and just bought 1 kg and this morning was reminded of the amazing quality of the coffee and the experience! Thanks Alex! Awesome coffee we got the Rwandan/ Robustica speciality mix

These guys have really excellent coffee. Well trained and friendly baristas. People that are passionate about giving you the best quality coffee. If you are in town, you should seriously consider giving them a visit for 'n cuppa.

My wife and I had the best experience at The Hogfather today. The staff was amazing and so friendly, and the food absolutely blew our minds. Do yourself a favour and order the Teriyaki pork meatballs on Asian noodles, you will not be disappointed. Thanks alot for a great experience.

This was such a happy find in Hoedspruit- I would highly recommend! Chris, owner and chef, came over to our table to give some recommendations and chat about the menu- which had just the right amount of options on. The staff were friendly, attentive and professional. There is a wide range of local drinks on offer from beers, gins and minerals. The atmosphere was light and warm with the perfectly draped lights and backdrop of the Drakensberg mountains. This spot would be suited for casual dining or celebratory dinners. Not many spots like this in Hoedspruit, in my opinion.

Fantastic restaurant/bar in Hoedspruit! Service was super friendly and the food just delicious. During our time in Hoedspruit we visited the Hogfather 3 times and had fantastic food every single time. We loved the chef’s recommendations which he states to us by coming to our table. Would highly recommend everything about the Hogfather :)

The food (lasagna) was dry and to much layers. The beef burger was hard and dry. There is not much other choices when you don't want pork. I don't want to recommend this place

This wonderful food truck serves amazing food u had this when I busted Hoedspruit South Africa I had the wings which were wonderful the flavors were also delicious and the service is amazing and there well know pregos my family of 8 ordered were also wonderful we know why they are known for them. The staff was quick and polite lovely to talk too and would go there everyday if would.

Our family recently stayed with the owners Carine and Josef for 12 days and they were welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived. The guest house is very spacious, exceptionally clean and the rooms are decorated to a high standard. The breakfast was also of high standard and different each day. We were sad to say goodbye. I would highly recommend this guest house.

Had an awesome stay at the Belgium Inn, nice rooms and a super breakfast. It's fun to go for a walk on the guinea fowl loop and discover the animals on foot. Jos, the owner, is very kind and there is Stella in the fridge.... Feels like home.

I stayed in Room 5 which is extremely spacious with a private outdoor shower and view into the bush. The owners were very accomodating when I wanted to add more nights to my stay and even offered me a ride to town when I didn't have my own transport. The airconditioning works wonderfully but does switch off during load shedding hours and wi-fi was a bit spotty. There weren't any lampshades for the bedside table lights so they are too bright at night. The rest of my stay was great with friendly helpful staff, a tasty simple breakfast, lovely pool and attentive owners who were very responsive and helpful. Would stay here again every time I return to Hoedspruit as it's such great value for money!

I can't recommend Ujabule lodge enough. Liezel is such a lovely person who made me feel so welcome the moment I arrived. The room was immaculately clean, air conditioned and has a choice of both indoor and outdoor showering. Only a 15 minute walk from all the shops but still far enough to feel lost in nature within the wildlife reserve. Would definitely return 😁👍

Incredible little lodge in a gorgeous estate. For new owner Liezel, nothing was too much trouble!! Next time we will book the whole place just because it's so lovely, although sharing was not an imposition at all, the rooms are well enough apart.

Property was very comfortable. Room had everything I needed (hot water pot, mini fridge, very comfortable bed, TV etc) Open kitchen area with microwave and dishes. Host was very nice and responsive. She gave me a lot of info about area. I would highly recommend a stay.

The place is beautiful and very clean. The only downside was the mistake they made on my quote . I paid the full amount exactly 2 weeks 2days in advance. Upon arrival I was told there was an error on my quote which needs me to pay an extra R1200. Basically I had to pay for the mistakes they did or else they wouldn’t let me in. I was extremely put off by that, It was unprofessional and made me feel so disrespected . I asked to speak to the person who helped me with the quote because they must account for it. They claimed not to know who was working on that day. It felt like lies which was so disappointing.

A wonderful nature estate in a really lovely setting with a very comfortable lodge. The coffee is 100%, the staff is incredibly pleasant, the food provided by the chefs is incredibly delicious—everything about the Baobab bush lodge is just the best. I really enjoyed it and will most certainly return often.

Awesome place in the bush. Nice drives in the estate and some animals to view. I was very dissapointed when I wanted to prepare for a braai, only to realize oops no there aint no braai. Just a boma. The unit we stayed in is supposed to cater for upto six people. Stupid things like only one teaspoon available. The list goes on.... no blankets available. Place is well looked aftee and clean but they need to do a proper look at all the kitchen utensils etc thats missing and add a few things.

We had a great time at Baobab. The room was clean with air conditioning and tea and coffee making facilities. The pool was perfect to cool off in and we loved the outdoor shower in our room too. Kirsten and Edwin were so lovely and accommodating. They organised safaris with a packed breakfast, hot air ballooning and massages. Would definitely stay again.

Wasn't really happy with the room,its small compared to the photos. It wants specified that we were not allowed to bring our food and drinks. When we tried ordering the food from the lodge they didn't have a variety they offer the same meal for lunch, the dinner was overpriced for nothing the starters was not fresh the garlic bread was not fresh and for the making course we ordered well done steak but received a medium rare steak,the dessert was not nice the custard had lumps, a total waste of money..The owner should try being friendly towards her guest.

Everything was lekker! I needed a last minute place for the night before tavelling back to Gauteng and this is a stunning little stop over. I would definitely recommend it if you need an affordable place to stay over if you are going to explore the hoedspruit area or if you are looking to stay the night. 10/10 for Mr. Johan and team!

Stunning little bnb the rooms we were in were single beds, comfortable. Aircon was amazing but eskom loadshedding made it switch off which wasnt great. We were there when it was very hot.

Beautifull place to stay in Hoedspruit. We were very well welcomed by Deon and Sue in their place. In fact when I made the reservation I did not even know what was the location of their lodge. It is on the spot that we discovered that we are staying in an estate with wild animals around. Arriving after the sunset we could spot many of them close to our lodge. The place is very well and nicely maintained. Big rooms, big beds with nets. The outdoor facilities are nice and you can see animals around. Deon and Sue prepared us a very good and big breakfast as we left very early. We want to thank you for your kindness and that we would have loved to stay more if we could at your place. hope to come back again. thank you.

This place is really beautiful. Located right in a private reserve, you wake up with the birds and are served an amazing breakfast while watching the animals. The hosts Sue and Deon are wonderful and very knowledgeable about the area. They recommended places, we wouldn't have known about and we're really glad that they did. I asked for a room with two separate beds but instead Sue went ahead and right away upgraded us to the suite with two separate bedrooms. The beds are very comfortable and the AC is just a bliss. I'll definitely stay here again when I'm in the area and can only highly recommend this place to anyone.

I'm not big on reviews But I am definitely gonna visit Rafiki Bush lodge again this place is Amazing a perfect 10/10 if you were looking for a review to decide whether or not to go here then here it is.. Shout out to Maria Perfect Host❤️ The location is absolutely amazing,the weather was perfect this place is peaceful and quiet and very easy to locate and drive to by any car.. The rooms are clean definitely enjoyed the outside shower you have everything you need in the room and privacy we also enjoyed the Cold pool and a beautiful sunset and the evening fire❤️ The food OMG where do I even begin no words can describe how amazing the food is Shout out to the Chef Lungisani loves what he does and so good at it provided us with perfect vegetarian meal as well for my partner and as for me I've never had better steak in a lodge before I would even go back just for the food😂The Breakfast as good as well and very fresh fruits Big ups to Lungisani he took such good care our appetite We went for a nature walk which was great too saw a couple of animals on the way was very refreshing The game drive was The best!!! Please do the game drive we went for an afternoon game drive and saw 4 of the big 5 hoping to see some lion's next time we go back learnt a lot on the drive too so many birds to see as well we enjoyed everything 👏🏽👏🏽

Located on the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, Maria and Reinhardt are running this small but very modern and familiar guesthouse. Great service and friendly staff. I would recommend to also book a gamedrive with Reinhardt or Charl if you are there!!

Rafiki Bush Lodge is a wonderful gem within the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate. Maria and Reinhardt are great hosts and we felt at home from the first minute on. The safari trips with Reinhardt are highly recommendable as well. The best place we have visited on our South Africa trip so far. Hope to be back in the future!

My father and I spent 3 nights at the Rafiki Bush lodge and really enjoyed our stay. Maria, Reinhardt and the rest of the staff were amazing and welcomed us into their home. The lodge located in a private game estate which is nice to walk / bike around after your activities, or just lay out by the pool. Maria and Reinhardt were great setting up activities for us. Accommodations were very comfortable and meals were home cooked and very delicious.

Us: We are a well-travelled family, focused on authentic and educational experiences for ourselves and our 10 year old. Bottom line: I can’t write well enough to adequately convey how great our experience at Rafiki was. Our stay at this small, sensational safari accommodation stands out as one of our more memorable adventures. From the moment we arrived, we felt like family- the hospitality is second to none. The food is fantastic and every request and need we had was met almost before we realized it: Imagine mentioning at dinner that tomorrow is your kid’s birthday and the next day having a Cake Boss quality birthday cake magically show up. Rafiki is amazing. The location is spectacular- nestled into a secluded, wildlife rich corner of a private reserve so that your morning walk or coffee includes encounters with giraffe, or zebra, or some other remarkable African animal. This extends to the proximity and in-house game drives on exclusive sections of the greater Kruger. We had been concerned that two game drives per day for more than a week would be a bit much for a kid, but given the knowledge and talents of Reinhardt, our guide, it was great. In retrospect, I just wish we had booked for some of his overnight safaris; camping would have been incredible. The lodge itself is perfect- pool, great rooms, bikes, breakfast on the deck with animals wandering by, affordable and kid-friendly; everything we wanted, more than we expected. I don’t do all that many reviews, but this stood out. It’s great. Go.

It was a trip of a lifetime - from the delicious food, beautiful rooms, relaxing atmosphere to the welcoming and friendly staff. My favorite part was the anticipation I felt when the gates of Pridelands opened. I couldn't wait to see what animals we would encounter. It was like Christmas morning. Reinhardt was an exceptional tour guide, while Maria welcomed us into their home and made us feel like family. Every bit was magical!

Our stay with Maria and Reinhardt and their wonderful daughter was one of the most memorable vacations of our lifetime. It was my wife, my 11 year old son and a group of other friends. The house is very clean and scenic, the food was wonderful and they catered to our requests for menu items, Maria and Reinhardt couldn't have been more welcoming or accommodating. In addition to the lodging, we went on 2 game drives daily with Reinhardt as our guide. His knowledge and love for his work shined through and left us with a tremendous adventure and learning experience. On one single day we counted 42 species of animals. It was truly remarkable. We plan to go back in a few years and will 100% be seeking out Maria and Reinhardt as our hosts and guides.

Selection is hand picked and each bottle represents careful consideration to bring exceptional wines to the public at reasonable prices. This is not what you will experience at the typical grocery or bottle stores. Come here if you actually care about wine.

Gin-tasting was exceptional. Big, bold glasses with fresh condiments. Relaxed experience with new knowledge of colourful drinks. An oasis in the bush.

Huge selection of wine so if you are looking for that special bottle it might be a good option. But they are quite pricy in average and it seems like they have a little "I know better than you" attitude. Not very friendly and service providing.

Only minor problem we encountered was the road noises near our unit(14).Other than that it was a very pleasant experience, wonderful bed too... Very much appreciated after a long journey. This was a very Nice house, clean, quiet and all the basics we need. In the evening there was a nyala passing our lodge, we did not get that close in Kruger. You really have the feeling your living in the middle of nature. Also..the restaurant on the campus is really nice, not much to choose..but what they have is really nice. Also available for take out.

What an AMAZING place to stay while in Hoedspruit!!! The Villa is just as beautiful as the pictures and videos we’ve seen before we booked. Anouk and Dennis do a perfect job on making sure the guests enjoy their time, very responsive, organized and always whiling to make great recommendations – we had two magnificent experiences referred from them (a perfect Safari tour and a wonderful diner at the villa) You’ll never forget your Ubuntu experience, the sunsets, the animals that come to the property while you’re in the pool, the coffee on the observation deck and specially the bike rides around the estate surrounded by zebras, giraffes, wildebeest and plenty of other wild animals. One of those once in a lifetime experience is waiting for you. We made Ububtu our home for a few nights and we will never forget how special our experience was. Looking forward to comeback!

I want to shout wow wow wow from the rooftops!! I don’t even know where to start with this amazing Villa, so I suppose I will start from the start. The message I got from Anouk (host) when she read on my Instagram that my luggage hadn’t made it. The message read “what size are you? We will go and get you some toiletries, underwear and a t-shirt so you are comfortable until your luggage arrives”. That set the tone for the rest of the trip. No detail too small, always going above and beyond and as a result I had a fantastic stay. The villa is everything you could want and more. Anouk and Denis have thought of every detail. It is beautiful, it is comfortable and best of all wildlife is always walking past the window! I enjoyed sitting on the deck working and being visited by duiker and warthog and mongoose. The town of Hoedspruit is also great. So much to do, really friendly locals and great restaurants. I’m genuinely considering making it my home one day! Thank you so much for such a lovely stay!

I stayed at the Villa for 4 nights and fully enjoyed it. It’s a magnificent place where you can do plenty of nice activities including horse riding, walking safaris, drive to Kruger for a day visit or go on a game drive at close by reserves. It really is the perfect place to unwind or even to work from (remotely) if needed and possible. I had a little grey duiker visiting me at the pool and could watch plenty of birds taking their bath from the Terrasse. If you go for a walk on the estate you will probably spot plenty of game, such as giraffes, zebras, waterbucks, impala, warthogs, tortoises, kudus, duikers and a wide variety of beautiful birds. You can walk around in the wilderness area on your own if you are comfortable enough. During the night you shouldn’t miss to look into the dark sky with plenty of its stars from the deck next to the Villa, it’s offering gorgeous views. The Villa is fully equipped with all what’s needed and the decoration is very unique and quite amazing! I surely didn’t want to leave this place after 4 nights and hope to be able to come back! What can I say, Probably the most beautiful place we've ever stayed in and peaceful is an understatement. I struggling to share this place with anyone as it's beyond stunning and I really want to keep it a secret! You'll realise you won't want to be playing music or watching TV but to simply relax, chill, read books whilst watching and listening to the wildlife around you. Ubuntu has a Super King bed, aircon (in bedrooms), stunning bathrooms, outdoor shower also! The kitchen is fully kitted, Laundry room, swimming pool, sun loungers and towels etc etc. I could bore you to tears with 'incredible this and incredible that'. The viewing deck has a lovely breeze and we spent many hours up there with binoculars or having dinner in the evening. DO hire a car as you need one. Anouk & Dennis were absolutely incredible Hosts. The love that's been put into this incredible place is second to none and to be able to stay here, was an honour. Please look after Ubuntu with the love it deserves. This was the best holiday I've ever had but please don't tell anyone :) Clare and Glenn (50's and now totally at one with nature)

I highly recommend Ubuntu Luxury Villa. The spacious design, viewing deck, swimming pool and outdoor showers are an exceptional value add. The property is well equipped and we loved the comfortable furniture, in particular on the veranda. The surrounding wilderness meant we had lovely bird and animal sightings, it is the perfect spot to zone out, relax and enjoy the African tranquility.

Fantastic stay in Hoedspruit. Marvelous service from the most friendly hosts. They will do everything for you to feel welcome and home. The rooms are cosy and comfortable and on your private terrace you can meet some wildlife and when you are lucky even a giraffe.

Great lodge, brand new, spacious and very luxurious. The lodges are completely private, overlooking the bush. The hosts are the best, very kind and helpful, they will book your game drives or tours. They make sure that you have the most pleasant stay. Breakfast is delicious and freshly prepared. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, I will definitely come back 👌😍

Was such a pleasure staying at Taaibos Bush Lodge. Jeroen and Pepijn were incredible hosts and even helped us book our bush experiences. The rooms were modern and clean! Breakfast was so great both mornings we were there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and can’t wait to be back.

A special place run by two very special people! Juli 2024 I really can't recommend this place highly enough! We have been visiting the Hoedspruit area for many years and this was certainly one of our best stays in Hoedspruit. Taaibos is conveniently situated close to town, so ideal if you want to do day trips, visit restaurants, shopping and re-charge your batteries. Despite its proximity to the town you still get a fabulous wildlife/bush experience. There are so many animals that wander through, nyala, kudu, giraffe, warthog, impala- certainly, the highlight for me was the bush babies in the evening. The chalets are ideally situated, the decks look out onto the bush which gives a real feeling of privacy, they are very nicely decorated, great beds and very fast internet. But what really makes this place special are the hosts Jeroen and Pepijn. They have a wealth of knowledge about the area but also about the animals that visit their beautiful lodge and are happy to share this with you. These guys know what hospitality means: incredibly kind, good fun and professional. A special place run by two very special people! Diana & Werner

The owners of Taaibos Bush Lodge, Jeroen and Pepijn, are two wonderful hosts who take care of everything down to the last detail. From airport pickup to a fantastic itinerary, arranging restaurants and taxis—nothing is too much trouble for them. They also try out all the activities themselves before recommending them to us. It has to be more than excellent. We had wonderful private game drives with fantastic guides and saw so much. We ate and drank deliciously, and the barbecue at the Lodge was excellent and very cozy around the fire. They set the bar high, and as a result, we had a fantastic holiday, with everything perfectly organized. And we're definitely excited to return. De eigenaren van de Taaibos Bush Lodge, Jeroen en Pepijn zijn twee geweldige gastheren die alles tot in de puntjes voor je regelen. Van ophalen op het vliegveld tot een geweldig reis programma, regelen van restaurants, taxi, werkelijk niks is ze teveel. Ook testen de mannen alle activiteiten eerst zelf uit voordat ze het aan ons aanbevelen . Het moet meer dan goed zijn. Wij hebben prachtige privé game drives gehad met geweldige gidsen en echt zoveel gezien. Heerlijk gegeten en gedronken en ook de braai in de Lodge is voortreffelijk verzorgd en erg gezellig rondom het vuur. De lat wordt hoog gelegd en daardoor hebben wij een geweldige vakantie gehad, tot in de puntjes geregeld. En zeker enthousiast om hier weer terug te keren.

My experience at Wimpy is always wonderful—from the warm service to the delicious food. One of the kindest and most attentive waitresses, Eunice, is always there to make the visit even more enjoyable. I go there twice a week, and the food never disappoints!

The service was good and the food was well prepared and delicious. Slight hiccup with the order but it was okay in the end. Well worth a stop if you cannot find another nice place to have a bite.

Waitress took her time getting our coffees Ordered chicken peri burger and asked to Replace chips with hash browns was told "system" does not allow this even though at other Wimpies they are more than happy to do the swop We cancelled our order due to her attitude after trying to show my husband "the system " She then proceeded to bring our bill charging for everything after cancelling our order. We only had coffees and paid for them only.
