Only had the ice cream here and really liked it. Great spot, only a few minutes drive off from the beach so it was quite crowded on a Summer day. Lots of different flavour options to choose from, and the waffle was definitely worth the wait. Staff is friendly.

Not for nothing it is the best ice cream parlor in Denmark. Creative flavors (I had Baily's and Tiramisu), friendly staff, decent prices and so much variety. They also got food coffee

The most rude and unfriendly service I have witnessed in a long time. First, being scolded for not waiting at the "wait to be seated sign" (sorry for not seeing it, my 4 year old ran towards your kids play area and I went after him because I want to keep an eye on him). I don't need to be talked down to by an irritated waitress on my holiday or any other day. You work in the service industry, remember? Then when seated another waitress came over and with a fury smacked down 2 menus on our table and walked away without even looking at me. I decided then and there to leave and not spend a dime at this awful establishment. I wouldn't get coffee there if it was offered to me for free. Luckily we went to cafe Hattesgaard after this unpleasantness and had a wonderful experience. I recommend cafe Hattesgaard fully.

The food is really great, the seafood felt so fresh. Shrimps was super tasty. My wife and kid did not like the ice creams that where sold here, strange taste they said so the ice cream ended up in the bin directly. The restaurant feel a bit dated, the surrounding area is the super cosy Römö beach.

The bubble waffle is a bit salty but the ice cream is really good. If you like sweet and salty food I would recommend the bubble waffle with ice cream. If you don’t like sweet and salty food I would suggest to get a regular ice cream cone. The service is somewhat nice. The line and wait isn’t too long.

Café Fru Dax in Lakolk in Rømø is one of the most busy and loved place by travellers to this little island. I had lunch here and they serve burgers and fries with cold beverages including small selection of craft beers. The service is quick and friendly.

Food was pretty good, prices ok. But we have someone in our group who CAN'T EAT A LOT or even a normal portion! She was extremely disappointed! All of us! She asked for a small children menu and the waitress harshly said NO because she isn't a child. Want to make money with big menus? But she is sick and can't eat normal! Waitress wasn't interested in any way, so our friend didn't order anything and said she will pick from our plates. Just wanted an extra fork. She DIDN'T got it till I was going inside to ask for another fork AGAIN! She felt so excluded from everything! Totally disappointed! 💔

Buffet was really great with lots of fish options as well as a few non fish things(chicken nuggets, pork roast) for those who aren't as fond of fish. Soft ice for the kids. Could have used a couple more non fish side dish options. Price was a little high but worth the splurge.

We ALWAYS go to Holms shop to buy their smoked salmon whenever we are in Rømø. I've never had fish as fresh and soft. You have to try it. It's true that the restaurant is a little expensive so I recommend you pick up fish from the shop.

Their fish Platte is well made, with a large variety of fish. Some fish were not quite as tender as I'd hoped for, but overall a great experience. Try their homemade lemonade!

In middle of the summer they had only two items available from the menu… why do you not tell it upfront and wait until we decide what we want to eat just to tell us that you only have two items available? Prices are outrages too… but at least we we had something to bite

We went to the place because of the good reviews, but didn’t have a chance to try the food, as the waiter refused the take-away service. Considering the „take-away“ option in Google it was quite unexpected.

On the evening of our third day visiting the Wadden Sea, we sought to get closer view of the "Sort sol" or "Black Sun" (a phenomenon in which a swarm of European Starlings go through their nightly "ritual" of finding a place to sleep among the bushes growing in the marshes), which we had seen the prior evening just south of Tonder across the German border. Although the skies were more clouded than the day before, we were nonetheless fortunate to witness the birds put on a stunning and mesmerizing air show. On our way back to our lodge in Hojer, we stopped at the Victoria Cafe in Tonder, a casual restaurant with an elegant atmosphere provided by the historical architectural style of the building. I enjoyed a beer (750 ml) for the first time in a while, and we shared two hearty and fulfilling dishes. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the last evening of our stay in Denmark.

We ate there together with friends and my family. When we returned home to Germany, we noticed that they had given us the wrong bill. We wrote two emails because they charged us too much for items from another table. This happened three weeks ago, and we still haven't received a response. The food was actually good, but ignoring customers after making a mistake is unacceptable. On my next visit to Tønder, I will go there in person to address this unprofessional behavior and get my money back!

Great place, we went two days in a row during our stay in Tønder. Nice selection of tap beers, fair prices, cozy ambiance, and friendly personnel. They were closing at 10PM but we were allowed to stay a bit longer while the crew was cleaning up, and we never felt rushed. I recommend the Anarkist IPA. Next time we're in town, we'll surely repeat.

We where here three times for diner in one week. Delicious Food ...for which we rode our bikes for 30 minutes coming and 30 minutes going...

This is an excellent inn with very friendly staff and generous portions. It's a little bit hidden, but definitely worth it. In our party, there was one vegetarian, that did not find any of the dishes on the menu to her liking. So Havneby Kro just cooked up something new that wasn't on the menu but perfectly hit the mark. I wish there'd be more inns like that one.

We love to come here when we're on Rømø and always enjoy the tasty food and nice atmosphere that the Kro grants. A nice collection of beers to try is a cherry on top for everyone who likes to try and enjoy beers from small local breweries.

The appartments are nice well equipt reception is hardly ever open however the owner accommodates for your arrival and departures. Very laid back hotel with good proximity to the harbour and shopping area.

Good value for money on this older inn/motel style restaurant. Friendly service and fine clean rooms. Right next to the harbor for the ferry to Sylt.

The restaurant is very cozy although it’s not that spacious inside. The service was fine, it’s just that we can see there is needed training, not that we are seeing as the negative side, it’s just a recommendation to make the restaurant more welcoming. The food is okay, probably I ordered the wrong one because there was too much sauce in it and gave me bad stomach. The food presentation is fine as well. It’s also our first time to visit. Loved this restaurant, small portion of Italy (Sicily) in the center of Tønder. Great food, simple but very nice menu and after meeting Thomas, the owner and chef you understand why this restaurant has this very interesting and strong connection to Italy. The food was fresh and the portions perfect, we got a great red wine to match as a recommendation from one of the waiters, who also allowed us to taist their unique on-house gin. Based this experience, I and those that joined me can highly recommend Ristorante Pavarotti (P2).

For Tønder this is quite good. The menu is limited but it all tastes good (the salad is boring). A nice friendly, convivial place. I'm glad we have it in town.

Tiny Italian restaurant, good ambience, friendly people. We were visiting this restaurant after 10 years (5 stars ten years ago). They had delicious food then and now as well. Although, I guess once in a blue moon day, a customer gets an uncooked chicken and that happened to me during this visit. They promptly took it back including the fries and recooked/refried everything and got back to me. I would have expected an additional gesture though.

This charming little known hideaway is a little piece of Scicillian heaven right here in Tønder! The owner is very friendly and shared with us some interesting stories of his homeland. To top off our experience we ordered some cozy comfort food and he told us it eas his Grandmothers recipe. Well here's to Grandma! Delicious and what a cozy romantic downstairs setting. Dont miss this date night surprise gentlemen. Bonus points from the ladies for HYGGE med stor bogstaver!

Food (Pizza) was really good! They were welcoming us and our dog, so we had a good service. The ambiente was cozy and quiet. Can absolutely recommend it!

08.10.2025 My girlfriend and me who come from England were stopping overnight in Tønder at the nearby Motel near the main train station for 1 night having travelled from Hamburg, and we were heading to Copenhagen the next day. So I had already reserved a table for dinner at this wonderful little boutique hotel. When we arrived the 3 young ladies working kindly welcomed us and all spoke very good English as we cannot speak Danish. We were early for the booking and they did offer for us to be seated immediately which was nice of them, but we insisted on having a pre-drink in their nice bar. I had a Steak Tartare while my girlfriend ate a Pork Cheek dish. Then for dessert I chose the Lemon Mousse while the Cheese & Biscuit platter was also chosen. All dishes were beautifully presented on their plates and were very flavoursome. Yes this may cost a little more than most average priced restaurants, but we got good quality for our money at least. Which is why I highly recommend this place for all kinds of guests, even travelling tourists like we were on the above date when we actually visited. And if I had more money on me I probably could've chosen to stay here, but the Motel suited me on this occasion because of our needs to use the local trains for our travels.

Pretty boutique hotel in a lovely town. We had a standard room, not very large but everything was really nice. Great shower, large tv, near centre of the town and very quiet. We didn't have dinner or breakfast, but it looked lovely.

It is a beautiful hotel in lovely surroundings. We stayed in room 12.5. Is a nice room. When we went to bed, the bed was so soft that it was almost impossible to sleep in. It was a summer night and in the room there were only some heavy winter duvets. Air conditioning was very difficult to control. If it wasn't running all the time, you could hardly breathe because of the humidity in the air.

Attended a party which was held in an adjustable large room at the back of the hotel. Although very sleek and new in the decor, it lacked personal warm decoration, and the sound in the room was bad. Music played in one end of the room could not be heard in the other end. Also the heating did not seem to be turned on (in late September). Several people had to wrap up in shawls and keep on their jackets. The food was, if not somewhat unethical, interesting. Some I liked, some I didn't touch, and some I tasted, but didn't like. Unethical, because they served Foie gras, I did not like the 'dried egg yoke' which sticks horrendously to ones teeth, I did like the main course with meat of calf, potato and greens and the desert. It took too long between servings, guests had arrived hungry, and between starter and main course approx 1 hour went. I had to fill up several servings of potatoes and sauce to cover my hunger, and there wasn't enough sauce brought to the table. All in all a disappointment having a party in a brand new place like this. The hotel rooms and restaurant at the front of the hotel were not tried or used, hopefully the experience there is much better.

I’ve come here many times for their delicious dinner. The wait staff is always friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. I recommend the set menu to really appreciate the cuisine.

Pretty authentic Italian food here, prices are not too expensive by Danish standard. Service is friendly and prompt and restaurant has a very causal atmosphere. Portions are generous too if you are a big eater.

Nice italien style Pizza. The pizzas are made in an open kitchen in the restaurant so you can watch the kitchen staff making it. My choice was quattro stagioni (see picture) and I really enjoyed it. The only thing was that the ingredients are not placed quartered on pastry (as usual for a quadro stagioni).

Traditional pizza restaurant- or restaurant is maybe to much to say for this place. It’s more like a cafeteria. They have a well assorted menu - but quality leaves much to wish for. Waiters are nice - service minded, but are seriously challenged if you want to change your order just a bit... I’m not impressed! If you are really hungry!!! the place can provide food... but for a nice experience with a little level in gastronomy- go somewhere else. /Jens

The breakfast selection was fine, very Danish though. However the food tasted old and seemed mostly store bought and not made here. The bananas they served were already black... On top of it my and my friends stomach started feeling weird as something we ate was bad. Totally not worth the price. The whole building smells of moisture and mold, everything from furniture to building structure seems very old and not renovated for forever. Do not recommend it to anyone for the price...

Lovely hotel beautifully situated in the middle of the wonderful city of Tønder. The room was big and everything there, good service and a lovely morning breakfast. I was here on business, but would also stay as a private person another time.

The main building looks very traditional like the rest of the cozy small town Tønder. The staff was unexceptional friendly and the breakfast tasty. We slept in an extra building next to the reception. I can not rate it with 5 stars because at least there the rooms need to be renovated.

NOT IMPRESSIVE BREAKFAST BUFFET NICE ROOMS RELATIVELY EXPENSIVE ROOMS My wife and I stayed here in SEP in order to watch the “Sort sol” display of birds. We had a reservation through booking.com. The check-in was a bit slow - but ok. The breakfast was served 8-10, so no chance of an early breakfast. The main building is locked during the night and opens when breakfast is served. The rooms are ok in the building where room numbers are 300-series. The breakfast buffet drives the over all 1-star rating. It looks like it reuses food from day to day. For instance the Brie cheese (And all the other cheeses you cut with a knife) was a repeat from the day before. Same with some of the bread loaf. And in Denmark it is against the law to re-serve food from a buffet due to health risks. The area around the pancake machine is dirty. They ran out of clean coffee cups. One of the yoghurts was out of date. The breakfast buffet area is extremely small when taking into account the large number of guests dining there. The staff is VERY slow to clean tables, and they do not change a table cloth between customers when customers have spilled on the table cloth. So… it is ok to stay here - if you want to pay overprice, but I would definitely dine somewhere else.

Hotel Tønderhus is an absolute disgrace. The exorbitant prices for their decrepit, outdated rooms are nothing short of daylight robbery. I endured a sleepless night due to incessant noise from the water pipes, and when I dared to complain, the incompetent staff had the audacity to blame their ignorance on new ownership. The food? Abysmal and outrageously overpriced. Avoid this pathetic excuse for a hotel at all costs. Recent reviews echo these sentiments, highlighting the hotel’s urgent need for refurbishment and criticizing the unjustified price hikes following new ownership. 

Rooms are average at best. Outdated bathroom. But most importantly avoid the restaurant! Mediocre food that was prepared in the morning and heated (some was lukewarm). No choice. Only one set menu which reminds me of hospital food.

When in Denmark, make sure to make a stop in Tønder to have a meal at Steaken. Their dishes are made and served with lots of love and are the ideal basis for a great culinary experience. We had calamari, spare ribs, steak tartare, ribeye, good wine and we couldn’t be happier. Congrats to the Steaken team.

A fancy restaurant in the downtown of Tønder with a delicious food. The interior is so instagram able. I recommend to try their burger or steak.

We had a ribeye steak, Caesar salad and fries, everything was excellent, one of the best steaks I ever had. Service was also excellent. Was not really cheap but well worth it, I can highly recommend it.

Café Retro is worth a visit just for its interior design alone, which takes you back in time. The atmosphere is lovely and the food is amazing. We called at the last minute and were welcomed with open arms. We really enjoyed hearing the story of the café and its owner, and we’re excited to come back, especially after hearing about all the future projects planned. An absolute gem in the area.
