Ever wanted to feel like royalty? Then this is the place! Every time you stood up there was a waiter ready to open/close every door for you. And then there was the food - OH GOD THE FOOD! We got the most delicious fresh and colorful vegetables with an assortment of creamy sauces, olies, bread and meat. The restaurant is located on the 17th floor and the concept is that you get 17 different dishes, we opted for the small wine menu (which is more than enough in my book) so half a glass of wine for 9 of the dishes. Everything was superb and would definitely want to visit again and recommend you give yourself this unique experience.

Absolutely delicious food served here! I don't usually opt for the buffet in restaurants however, when the lovely lady owner showed me what was included in the buffet, I could not resist for 299 DKK! That includes a range of ice-cream flavours for dessert!Additionally, hygiene is to a high standard...each time anyone visits the buffet, they must use a new plate, not the used plate, which is what has typically put me off buffets. If I lived here, I would visit this restaurant more often but I don't 🫤 Do try it! Be adventurous! You won't regret it! 😋

My partner and I celebrated our anniversary at Curry Leaves and enjoyed their delightful buffet. As vegetarians, we were pleased with the wide variety of options available. The food was fantastic — perfectly seasoned and balanced, with sweet, pickled, and spicy sides that complemented each dish beautifully. The service was excellent; we were warmly welcomed upon arrival, given a clear explanation of the buffet, and checked on attentively throughout our meal. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making for a truly enjoyable dining experience. We will definitely be returning!

We thoroughly enjoyed a very special dinner here! The food and service went way above our expectations. We managed to make a reservation despite not having cell service for the restaurant to call us on to confirm, but they nevertheless honored it. We expected a regular Indian buffet but were totally surprised and impressed by the through verbal overview of all the food. When I let them know I had an allergy, they checked with the cook and owner (the matriarch of this family restaurant!) who made especially sure I knew which food items were ok to eat. Later in our meal, she came out to say hello and to ask if I wanted to try a lamb dish that she would make special for me without my food allergen. 🥹 Even though I'm typically not a fan of lamb, I have to admit, the dish was incredible. We also ordered an Indian zinfandel, our first experience with Indian wine, and it was pleasant! The rest of the food we had in Denmark was quite bland and overcooked, but everything we ate at Curry Leaves was impeccable, flavorful, and delicious. Don't shy away because it's a buffet; they cook food in small batches and replenish frequently!! Thank you to the lovely family owners for your kind hospitality.

Food was incredible. There’s variety and options for different dietary needs and preferences. Very considerate staff of both allergies and intolerances. Super kind and friendly staff who will walk you through the different options in the buffet and the spice level of each dish. There’s something for everyone. I went there with my brother and grandmother for her birthday. Once mentioned, they brought over a flag to our table and later in the evening came with a free surprise dessert. Best Indian Food I've had in Europe. We went for the buffet option and we loved it. The food was made in small portions and frequently refilled. The service was friendly and explained us the different dishes, spice level etc. They clearly love what they do. The buffet also had a great selection for vegetarians.

Really great burgers and fries. But i have to say to the waiters/management: If you are sick, then stay home. You are serving food to dozens of people on a day. When the customers hear every 10-30 seconds loud, bronchial coughing from people who are serving your food, its not really delicious anymore. It‘s not pleasing for anybody involved. I‘m sorry i didnt said anything while I was there, but I just wanted to leave this place as soon as possible prayin not to get sick also. We had an amazing meal here! The buffalo wings were awesome, the blue cheese dip was great and the bacon smashed burger was absolutely delicious, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented, first bite was heaven. The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great food and a welcoming atmosphere! Oh I recommend the Mango lemonade!

The burgers, fries and cocktails were excellent. 2 for 1 cocktails on Thursday was also awesome! However, the service was really slow (maybe they didn’t have enough staff 🤷🏻‍♀️). They were really friendly and helpful though they got some of our order wrong. The atmosphere is eclectic and jazzy. It was a good stop for our group of 15 from Germany with quite a few vegetarians.

Nice restaurant in Sonderborg, food is good, portions are small and the cocktails are amazing. Unfortunately we weren't fully satisfied as it was difficult choosing the dishes of the menu. First or all there is no English menu, would be helpful to have some ready for foreign guests. Second, the restaurant was very unflexible when you wanted to swap the dishes of the menu. From the menu card it looked like you could freely chose, but that wasn't the case. For the 3 course there is just one option possible, otherwise you take the 5 courses and get all 5 dishes. Very confusing and not what I am used to from a higher class restaurant. Too bad. Still good enough to have a great evening, will consider twice if I should come back.

I unfortunately had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I booked a table for 20:00 via the website of the restaurant. I came into the restaurant at 19:55. Both waiters were looking at me like "what on earth are you doing here". Upon saying I had a reservation, they looked at me in disbelief and went checking in the system. To their surprise they found my booking so they assigned me a table and gave me the menu without any info or explanation, nor the question if I wanted to drink something. 20 minutes later, the waiter came and asked if I had made a choice. I said that I wanted to order the four course meal. "Unfortunately our kitchen closes at 20:00 so I can only do a two course meal." Silence. No suggestion how to make the best out of that, or working towards a solution. I then ordered the soup and the beef. "I'm sorry, there is no beef anymore. For the main dish you can only choose between the fish and the pork". In my opinion, both things should have been told me immediately when being seated or even before bringing me to the table. I don't understand why they allow people to book a table at 20:00 when the kitchen closes at that time. In any case, had I known what I was up for, I would have exited the restaurant immediately and tried to find food elsewhere.. The pumpkin soup was kind of sour and bland, nothing to write home about. In the middle of eating the soup the waiter offered a coffee "as a courtesy for the problems". How can you do this when the main dish has not even arrived yet... The worst surprise was to receive a piece of cold pork, with a kind-of-hot whisky sauce, with unevenly boiled potatoes. During the main dish there was also no one coming about for 25 minutes, and I really did not have the energy to stand up and get them to taste the pork. Probably it was done immediately at 20:20 and just sat in the kitchen until it was being served. It was a long time ago that I had such a terrible service (and food, if you compare it to the standard set by themselves..) in a restaurant. In my opinion they should have let me leave without paying, but instead the bill had the full €55....

The room itself was great very spacious but the room safe didn't work and there wasn't a kettle. There was a coffee machine but no cups or instructions. There was no reception to check in and we reported three problems but only one was resolved.

Travellers be aware! Hotel Bella Italia in Sonderborg has stylish and glossy photographs on booking.com and its own website but they are misleading. Especially for room No. 102, a junior suite, and room No. 101, a standard room. These rooms are on street-level and face the terrace where guests are eating, drinking and talking and anyone who passes by can see easily inside the rooms. The rooms are described as bright and light but since they do not offer any privacy, guests have to close the blinds and that makes the rooms gloomy and dark. Interestingly enough, there are no blinds in the bathroom and the windowpane is only covered with a film that is not opaque enough to give one the privacy that one would hope for in a bathroom. The description of the rooms on the hotel's website or booking.com does not even hint that there are at least two rooms of that kind. We would have never booked a room where one feels like being put on display.

We were about 20 people, i had a reservation and pre order, because me and my girlfriend married in denmark. We decided to eat at the restaurant of bella italia because of the good ratings. We arrived at 5 like we agreed with the restaurant before. The waitress was stressed. Really stressed. She forced us to order, ran up and down and continued forcing us to order even though not everybody was on their seats. I told her to wait 5 minutes everybidy have to sit down and then we will order our drinks because for the food i had a pre order. She told us to leave at 7. No she forced us to leave at 7. I paid 750 euro (around 5600 krones). The ambiente was good but the waitress (blond-red hairs) was so stressed and create an uncomfortable atmosphare i have never seen in my life before. I used to be a waiter/barkeeper for around 10 years and even when you have a bad day you have to be friendly and kindly to the customers. You have to no matter what happens. But we was feeling like worthless customers on a very important day in our life. Its sad but i have to tell you so maybe in the future she will change her behaviour to other potencial wedding customers because it is simply wrong what she did.

Torve-Hallen in Sønderborg makes some really, really good food. The pizza is amazing – honestly one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Thin, crispy, flavorful, just really well made. The pasta is also excellent, rich and tasty, something I’d happily come back for. The burger, on the other hand, wasn’t for me. It felt quite standard and nothing special compared to the pizza and pasta. Not bad, just not on the same level. The location is great, right by the water, and the atmosphere is really nice, especially on a good day. All in all, a very good experience. For me the pizza and pasta alone make it worth a visit.

very rude service. we had a table reservation and asked if we could be seated at the free table at the window. We got a very rude reply - no this is not possible...this is reserved. the restaurant was 2/3 empty and also this table stayed empty until we left. we had a very small table with a fantastic view into the kitchen.her bad behaviour continued ..... We came to Denmark again because of the nice people and the nice views towards the sea.... no nice people here and only views into the kitchen. The quality of the food was ok, but the way this lady treated us is unacceptable. (maybe she had a bad day, but we only came here to have a good time)

Wonderful restaurant. We went on a Saturday evening well before 6 and got a table without reservation. (People who came later without reservation had to wait). We had the two vegetarian pastas and they were both delicious - especially the one with truffles. The chocolate mousse was excellent too. The staff were very friendly. Seating is on two floors and the upper floor has interesting murals. The ambience was great. Would recommend.

Ive visited this place twice now with the past year. One time i got a burger and the other a pizza. Both were great. Although i recommend the pizza. It was simply amazing. Customer service is fantastic and food is great. What else could you want from a night out. In my opinion this place is better than 90% of the cafes in Sønderborg. Also, the view is great. But i didnt book ahead of time the 2 times i have visited unforuntately. So our view was not the best. But completely my fault. If you want a good view reserve a table and askk for a window spot. They plenty of vegetarian food so my girlfriend was happy. Great place, highly recommend.

The steak was one of the best I’ve had in a long time at a restaurant. Cooked perfectly. Well seasoned. Bearnaise sauce was tasty. It was on the expensive size and the steak size was quite small, but the quality made up for it. Service was friendly and efficient.

Moules frites were horrible, dry and overcooked. Had their cheesecake that was advertised as coming with strawberries and chokolade sauce but came with one (1!) very small strawberry and a decorative squeeze from a bottle of store bought chocolate sauce. Not impressed!

Fantastic location in the very center of Sønderborg, the menu is a typical Cafe menu with sandwiches, burgers fish plates etc. The portions are huge and more than I could finish. We had the Stjerneskud and the Vesterhavsplate which were both delicious. The service is hit n miss, a few servers are outstanding, and others forget uou, don't know how to receive Euro, or don't know how to spell items on the menu you asked to get removed.

Good restaurant for everything related to meat. I had a classic burger and it was good. It was tasty, not dry and good size. The thick fries were also good, I liked it. We were visiting this little sweet restaurant spontaneously during our city trip and were absolutely positively surprised by the experience. First things first: the meal was extraordinary delicious (had the fish filet and the prawns salad). All dishes were homemade and that was tastable with every bite. The waiter was very friendly, the cook was visiting us during the meal to ask if all is tasting fine and afterwards we had an entertaining talk with him. We had Kong Fiddes Livret and it was the most satisfying meat meal I had in many years. Food was acceptable, but the service was like a hidden camera scene. First the door was a looked and a person looking like he hasn't slept for about a week opens it as we're about to leave. If only the ingredients would of been first class!! Well cooked, great service, well presented but the ingredients were not the best quality. Of course, and one understands after this COVID crises, that restaurant have to look to the budget! I would definitely recommend this restaurant nevertheless!!

A great choice if you are looking to gratify your palate. Ravioli, tenderloin and petit four made a perfect trio, and the staff was very helpful and friendly to seat us even with almost a full house and also took care to explain what was being served. If it weren't for the unfriendly and sarcastic staff, joking about us not knowing right away what we would like to order besides other things, we would have enjoyed our meal in this restaurant. Food tasted good, however, if you are hungry, go elsewhere. Wouldn't recommend, as there are many much nicer places in the same price range around town with friendly people and nice atmosphere.

A local Pearl in an excellent location. I’ve only been there for birthday luncheons in a private wing of the restaurant. The food was excellent and the service attentive. The views of the ocean and the wonderful garden are perfect for the setting.

Nice local restaurant. Im not sure how they came up with the name, beacuse it is not as exotic as the name suggest. However you get fresh preparred high quality food. I had fish, and that comes with the hightest recomendations. Its becomming more and more normal that restaurants have a selection of beers to accomodate the food, and that is what this place lacks. If youre into wines - perfect.

Mongolean Barbecue can always be relied upon. I celebrated my birthday with some friends and everyone found some food in the buffet. A bottle of wine was nice.

Mongolian Barbecue presents a huge buffet with a lot of different dishes. There is something for everyone. They even have a kids menu that can be ordered on the side. Children under 12 can have a go at the buffet for half the price. The buffet costs 167kr per person not including drinks. You can pick a plate and select various ingredients like noodles, mushroom, onion, surimi, shrimps and more to get roasted afterwards. Before cooking you can get your food seasoned after your own taste dependent on how spice You like it. You can fill our plate with baked chicken, baked scrimp, small spring rolls, duck, pork, fried rice or whatever you desire. There are so many dishes that it is almost impossible to get a taste of it all. The restaurant is clean and staff is very friendly and helpful. They have all COVID measures in place with mask and hand sanitation. One thing missing though, is that it is not possible to get at doggy-bag.

Being my first time trip to Sønderborg, I decided to take a walk around this beautiful seaside town and came across Restaurant Colosseum on the tail end and decided to have an early dinner. With ample outdoor seating on a nice sunny afternoon, this looked like the spot!! The server greeted me and let me pick my table. She was warm with her greeting and spoke very good English, as my familiarity with Danish is generally awful. I order the Havneskud, I local fish dish which is breaded and topped with baby shrimp, some salmon roe, fresh asparagus and pea tendrils. Needless to say, I was very content with the meal. The flavors were fresh and the dish well prepared. If you ever find yourself in Sønderborg, put this spot on your list!

Good food, great vegetarian substitute, very friendly service. The soy balls were excellent, never had a soy thing with such a wonderful taste! Also the fish was delightful, the sides yummy and the portions well sized.

We went here for a lovely dinner sitting outside, and considering how packed the restaurant was, the service was very quick! We were three people who all ordered Tarteletter, and they were incredibly tasty. Perhaps the best Tarteletter I've ever had. They were also very filling and left us all very satisfied. Overall, it was a nice experience, and I can definitely recommend sitting out by the water if the weather is good - that makes the whole dining experience much better.

Great water front restaurant with friendly, informal service and a good range of well priced food. The menu includes ‘King Frederick’s favourite’ which is totally delicious and you won’t need to eat for a day afterwards! Also a children’s menu and a wide selection on adult menu. It's awesome experience to dine in this spacious restaurant. Nicely decorated and very clean area. Children friendly food and area to do some drawings. A big variation and high quality food to choose from and we had tried both eat all you can and a la carte. Both are yummyliciuos. Must try 😋

Pretty unimpressive place, with less than average sushi. A lot of the sushi had chicken nuggets in them instead of fish, and there was too much fish in some of the roles so they became chewy. Quite early there were more desserts than sushi on the conveyor, and I decided to try a few of them - they were awful. Cheesecake tasted sour, æblekage was weird, mousse was way too stiff. Waiter got 2 out of 3 drink orders wrong, and the last was sold out. No one came when we asked to pay. And this on a pretty quiet night. If you like it, go ahead, but I'm not planning on visiting here again! Sønderborg has a lot of nicer places.

The service here is warm and the wait staff are extremely polite and considerate. The food is great, considering that they are open from breakfast to dinner time. I had the brunch option and it was a smorgasbord of smoked meats, 2 cheeses, scrambled eggs with fried bacon and sausage, cherry tomatoes in herbed olive oil, smoked salmon and guacamole on toast, Greek honey with sweet museli, cut fruit, a pancake, honey and strawberry jam. Each item tasted different and it was definitely filling for the price. You can wash it all down with any tea or coffee. Overall, the menu items, while visually impressive and tasty, could benefit from monthly specials to stand out against other nearby restaurants. More starter options for those who just want a coffee and a small bite would be great too. I've been here a few times already and will continue coming back!

I was at the Cafe, on a dinner with my in-laws and my fiancee, Me and Fiancee are different nations, so staff really didn't know english, and it was struggle for me to figure out the menu. The food was delicious and it made me feel great, but there were more vegetables than the actual food. Still a great atmosphere!

We chose the “Chef’s Choice” menu, seven courses served in three waves and every single dish was a masterpiece in itself. The atmosphere was warm, cozy, and at the same time vibrant. You can tell that every detail has been thought through with care, from the inviting lighting to the charming interior. The service was outstanding! Professional, from the heart, with lots of knowledge, attentive and always with a smile. Culinarily, the evening completely blew us away. Each dish was creative, perfectly balanced and made with top-quality ingredients. You can truly taste the craftsmanship and passion behind the food. The wine selection was also excellent and complemented the menu beautifully. A truly memorable highlight came at the very end: I asked if I could take a photo of the wine bottle, since it was so freaking delicious. The waiter/owner brought it over when we paid, and as we were leaving he said: “You can grab the rest of it, it’s a gift – enjoy your evening.” I was stunned and delighted. Absolutely mesmerizing location right at the marina beach. I was with my friends to celebrate a wedding event. The buffet consisted of a mix of vegan and seafood dishes. The food served was very delicious and presented beautifully in a tempting manner, especially the vegan dishes, which were absolutely delicious. In the seafood section, we got grilled salmon, which was also equally delicious. The best vegan food I have ever had in my life was here. Plus, kudos to the owner, who was very patient and friendly in guiding us through the various dishes served during the event. He hosted the wedding party in an organised and efficient manner. Alcoholic drinks were also available. The service staff was also friendly and always assisted with a smiling face, which resulted in a pleasant experience. Not a lot to review. There's a harbour, sandy beach, car park, campsite and restaurant. It feels remote and natural, despite the development. Gets some wind, so noisy if you are camping, and breezy if you're trying to eat outside. Lovely sandy beach is worth the trip though. Boat trips available from the harbour.

The first time i visited this cafe i had a great experience and also left a review of 5 stars that expressed that. Now, as of January 2025 i have planned to go to this restaurant on 2 separate occasions and have been unsuccessful. They have been promoting this burger covered in brown sauce on a sign outside of their cafe of which i have been planning to try as the deal is only for January. In mid January i planned to go to the restaurant but unfortunately there was a sign on the door stating that they are closed due to sickness. I figured fair enough and i would come back another day. Last night the 25th of January. I strategically planned to visit the restaurant once again at 8pm. This was due to two reasons, i could see that on their website it specifically states that the kitchen stops making food at 9pm. Additionally, from 8-10pm there is a happy hour deal on cocktails of which me and my girlfriend wanted to take advantage of on her birthday. So we had planned the entire day to go there due to the claims on their website. At 8pm we arrive, we politely ask for a table for 2, in which the waiter asks if it is for food or drinks. We say food ofcourse because i have been thinking about the burger they have been promoting all of January. We are then told that the kitchen is closed. I ask why that is when their website clearly states that their kitchen is open until 9pm. The waiter starts with some BS excuses claiming that i mis-read the website and the restaurant is open until 21 but not the kitchen. I just say whatever and we will take our business elsewhere. However, funnily enough i notice on the way out of the door it specifically states on the door that the KITCHEN is open until 9pm. I find it disrespectful that he attempts to claim that i misread the website and starts making BS excuses. Additionally, i double checked the website to confirm that it indeed does state that the KITCHEN closes at 9pm and NOT the restaurant. If that's how you guys want to treat your customers then go ahead. I wont be back, ill visit one of the many other restaurants that neighbor you and do my business there. Disappointing experience to say the least..... I would've been completely fine if the waiter said that you guys closed the kitchen down early due to the lack of customers or for WHATEVER reason it may be that the kitchen was closed down early. But to try and make false claims against your customers is ridiculous. Honestly, i live right next to the cafe and walk by frequently. I've noticed the lack of customers at the restaurant and that was another reason why i have been motivated to visit the restaurant in January. I wanted to support it and make sure it still exist in the future. But that went out the window last night. -------- prior review -------- There are soooo… many restaurants with underwhelming service in Denmark and this is not one of them! The service was fantastic, was asked multiple times if everything was as it should. Food was fantastic (burger) and up to danish cafe standards. Prices were reasonable and students can get 15% discount with there student ID!

One of the worst restaurant in the place. Waited for 30 mins even before waited came for order. Restaurant rejected service and asked us to place ordered and asked to place 10 orders for 10 people and did not allow the huge pizza. Worst worst experience. Pathetic host.

If you see the kitchen, it is already a good sign. If they speak Italian that is even better. Randomly found this place, the staff were lovely. The food might have taken long, but considering that they are only two, it is normal. I got pasta da Nico and it was delicious. I would gladly go there again.

This is a truly authentic Italian restaurant . 3 of us had the most delicious tasting pizzas ,on a superb base.with generous toppings .My wife had an outstanding risotto Della casa . Followed by a fantastic Tiramisu . The service was very professional and attentive led by Armando and his team . Really good to see our old post office in Søndefborg ,revitalised and it makes a perfect location for an eating establishment . The acoustics are fine ,as even with the restaurant nearly full ,one could hold a conversation with ease . The ambience is meget hyggelig .,brilliant lighting for dining in . I am not a fan of Sushi, but my daughter wanted to try the experience and for experience i give them 5 stars. This is something different and the whole concept is good. You order with an ipad, and the robot will bring you the food. As a restaurant the concept is good, we didn't need to wait for the waitress to take our order, or bring the food. The chefs would know as soon as order is placed, and the food is delivered within minutes.

surely we were very disappointed with the service, a danish waitress with braid, did not take care of our table she was always grumpy, unfortunately we had spilled a glass of water and she after we had asked her for something to clean literally threw us two napkins on the table and has not bothered to clean the floor, or the table full of water, it will probably be a motto of the room since even those who serve at the table from the kitchen do not speak are not smiling and it seems to be at a funeral. the rest at least the cuisine is not special but at least it is acceptable.

They have two vegan menus, but even if you buy one of them they don't care about separating if one of you friends buy something non-vegan. So be prepared for sushi which have drawn flavour of a salmon sushi or has mayo on it. The least creative plant-based sushi i ever had.

I’ve been in this place for dinner in February. The place is nice, there are some parking places really close. Quality is over what I expected, I took the original and the beef bernaise, and my favourite one was the original. Churros were nice, I tasted it just once in Madrid and I liked these more than the “original” ones in Spain’s capital. Price is super compared to the quality! I’ll be back for sure the next time I’ll be in Sonderborg

We visited the Slider for dinner with my colleagues in Sonderborg and the burgers were really good. Same as the fries. The ambient looked a bit aged, but the music was great!! All in all, 4 stars for the great burgers, other food we had and good experience.

This is our favorite place in Sonderborg. We have been there 4 times and had always nice evenings with great burgers. I like the concept with small burgers. This gives the opportunity to try different ones. The service is friendly and the prices are absolutely ok. So no long story here, we can highly recommend this burger restaurant.

Great place for take away sushi. Their miso soup (menu item #1) is really nice. I enjoyed a set menu #55. Shop is clean and tidy and you can eat there, but the atmosphere is rather austere.

The quality of the food was exquisite, the service staff a bit overwhelmed by the many customers outside while we were left alone inside. Honestly, one of the best burgers i have tried. The decor is very cozy with all the lights. It opens your appetite. Their burgers are a delight. I tried the California M double beef burger. OMG what a delight!! And the sauce they use is just amazing. The restaurant is very clean, the tables, the chairs, everything. I highly recommend.

Absolutely outstanding service and quality. We visited today and had a little issue that was our own fault with the bread we chose. The incredible team went above and beyond to help and sort out issue that was like I said our own fault. I've never experienced customer service on this level so well done to the amazing team for helping us out on such a high and kind level ( especially the young man behind the counter) . The quality of the coffee, sweets and bread was also incredible. My family and I highly recommend this lovely place.
