Cinque di Vino is a charming restaurant located in the village of San Casciano in Val di Pesa, nestled in the beautiful Chianti hills. Visitors have raved about their friendly service and lovely outdoor seating by the park. The food is described as homestyle cooking at its finest, with standout dishes including pastas and Sylvia's desserts. One highlight for many was trying the florentine steak, which was cooked to perfection and served with generous sides.
Honestly my favorite restaurant experience I’ve ever had. It’s been 2 years and I still think of it, and have finally gotten around to a review. The service and the food both outstanding. Marco went through the menu and recommended dishes and in what order to eat them based on what we wanted. The best olive oil I’ve tasted, I bought a bottle to bring home. The onion soup was delicious. They went above and beyond. We went twice while we were in the area. I just loved it.

The very first stop on our amazing Tuscany trip was this restaurant 🍷🍝, recommended by a local from Florence. They said it had authentic Tuscan food — and they were absolutely right. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt like the true spirit of Tuscany: a cozy old Italian restaurant with regional wines and fresh dishes. The manager and staff were incredibly warm and welcoming 🤗, which made the whole experience even more memorable. The pasta was delicious, the dessert was perfect, and the wine from the area was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. It really felt like a little piece of heaven ✨ I’ll always remember this place as one of the sweetest highlights of my time in Italy and Tuscany ❤️.
Sepideh S — Google review
Wonderful family run restaurant in Tuscany. I had the pleasure of chatting with Marco the owner and getting to know him and the family. They put so much love and effort into the experience, it really shows! I had the olive oil tasting which was sensational and the chicken which was juicy, spicy and delicious. The wine was wonderful and the service was some of the best you’ll receive in Italy!
Thomas P — Google review
Fantastic family run restaurant with authentic Tuscan food and hospitable owners. Marco is very passionate about the food he put on his menu and we loved everything he recommended to us. I would have given this restaurant 6 stars if possible.
Vanessa C — Google review
This place was amazing from beginning to end. The hosts were so nice and attentive. Marco went over the menu with us and made us recommendations and couldn't be happier with the meals he recommended. He even suggested what meals he recommends we eat before the other, he has a true passion for what he's doing. Both my wife and I had the best meals of our life here. Can't wait to be back.

Among the best Fiorentina!!! Service very nice! The beef was perfectly cut and cooked

We’ve been coming here for many years — every time we drive from Vienna to Italy, we always stop to have lunch or dinner. It’s been probably around 15 years already. The atmosphere is always wonderful, the service excellent, and the food absolutely delicious. This place has truly become a special tradition for us.

We have been travelling for few days now in Italy and this place by far had the best meals. We ordered the wild boar pasta and a vegetarian lasagna. Amazing. Great service as well.

Villa Machiavelli is a stunning location with a large garden, offering a wide selection of delicious local food. The historic buildings, restaurant, tavern, and wine cellar are impressive and rich in history. Visitors can enjoy guided tours of the wine-making facility and the villa itself, including the room where Machiavelli wrote "The Prince." Guests can also indulge in a delightful dinner accompanied by beautiful Italian songs. The atmosphere is described as welcoming and reminiscent of visiting grandma's home.
Amazing!! We did the tour with dinner. Annalise was our guide and she was wonderful!! Food was amazing- staff were so friendly and the wine was so good!! We will be back.

We stopped here as part of a ebike tour. All the food was delicious and very well presented. It was cool to see the wine cellar and see the barrels and concrete spaces that they make the wine in. If we had been ae to sit and overlook the hills and vineyard the atmosphere would have been better. The space next to the road wasn't terrible but the other side would have been better. The wine was good too.

I popped in with a friend for a quick drink, but was met with some of the worst service I’ve experienced. The staff were rude and completely disinterested. It’s a shame because the venue itself is beautiful, but honestly, not worth your time or money.
Jaleh M — Google review
Stunning place in Tuscan countryside. Perfect to visit any time of the day, but the most beautiful experience is to come for aperitivo and stay watching the sunset. Place gets very busy in the afternoon, evening, so pre-booking Your experience is a good choice. Connections to a famous Niccolo Machiavelli adds special charm to the Borgo. Definitely one of the hidden gems worth visiting.
Asta V — Google review
We went here on a recommendation of a friend. It was slow season - beginning of March, so some of the experiences were not available. But we had a wonderful lunch - was one of the top meals we had in Italy. The dinning room we ate in was so cozy - with a lovely fire. Beautiful location. Our only very small complaint is that when you park in the bottom parking lot it was not easy to figure out where the restaurant was, but I think it was becuase it was slow season and not many people about. Would highly recommend!
Kim W — Google review
The sundowner drink with good music was very nice. The food in the upper part fancy restaurant didn’t really convince us for the price.
Jan R — Google review
Really great restaurants. We received a basket of lovely bread and olive oil but never received plates. Food was really good but we were a party of 6 and the food came out intermittently with main courses for some coming out before our first courses. Probably a kitchen sequence issue. All in all great location and good quality food.
Robert M — Google review
Beautiful place. Was brought here with a group and seemed like there could be many different experiences in many cool seating areas depending on what you pay for. We were put in a basic room with lots of tables. There was a guitar player and a woman singing to us. Food was decent and wine was okay. My experience felt very touristy and manufactured, but it wasn't horrible. For being in such a historical place, a tour would have been nice rather than a quick walk through the wine cellar and then corralled into dinner.

Ristorante MammaRosa "La Locanda" is a hidden gem in the Tuscan countryside, offering authentic Mediterranean cuisine. This charming restaurant is tucked away and provides a delightful dining experience. The chef, known for his culinary skills, personally attends to guests and ensures their satisfaction. The menu boasts an excellent selection of traditional dishes, with the truffle duck pasta being highly recommended. Additionally, the establishment offers a diverse range of wines from various regions, including Chianti.
We were looking for a good restaurant to eat dinner at when this place popped up as recommended. At first I thought it was a hotel that had their own restaurant but it turned out to be a completely separate building right next to it. The owner was so nice and accommodating to us, went into detail about the menu and gave us an English menu version to help us understand the details of each dish. The food was delicious! If you are in the area I would highly recommend stopping to eat here for dinner!

Seriously the most hidden gems of hidden gems in the world! We're so glad our farmbnb host made a reservation for us at this place. This cute little restaurant is tucked away in the tuscan countryside and we felt pretty lucky to have been served by none other than the chef himself. He was so sweet and accomodating, really made us feel special and cooked up a pretty good meal. The best meal in Italy so far! Highly recommend the truffle duck pasta, it is sooooo good!

Restaurant
La Trattoria del Pesce is a historic structure dating back to 1567, originally designed to accommodate fish sellers from the Ponte Vecchio. The building features two rows of nine arches and Tuscan columns, covered by vaults with a shell. Visitors have praised the restaurant for its outstanding seafood dishes, such as the baby octopus in sauce and fresh carpaccio del dia.
Wonderful food and an awesome little drive. Wait staff was very accommodating and friendly. Seafood fresh and only! So hopefully you fruits of the sea.

Everything is super fresh in the seafood restaurant. We got a recommendation to come here and we're fully satisfied. Service is superior.

The restaurant is generally nice. I visited with a group of friends and had seafood. Shortly after lunch, I became seriously ill, and several other friends also felt unwell. I don't recommend it, disappointed.
Filip B — Google review
This is by far the best Italian food I have eaten at. It’s been two weeks since I arrived Florence & have been struggling to find a good seafood restaurant. This restaurant surely did not disappoint me. The staff are very welcoming, cordial & very friendly. Received a warm welcome from the waitresses. They speak excellent English. Ate seafood risotto as my main course & semifreddo as desert which was recommended by the lovely waitress. This was the first time I ate this desert & believe me when I say it was absolutely delicious & so yummy. Full of nuts. Anyone visiting Florence who is a seafood lover should definitely visit this beautiful restaurant with great ambience & cleanliness. U surely will never leave disappointed.

With Gianni at La Trattoria del Pesce you cannot go wrong. Incredible team from kitchen to service all the way down to a wonderful cellar! Wine pair is fun with Gianni’s brother or anybody else at service. Sometimes is possible to drink very special champenoise, but really only when I am on town!!! Fish is beyond expectation always, including amongst the best oyster 🦪 you can have, Gilardeau Speciale #3. There is amazing fresh frittura and always can find a wild caught fish for an oven acqua pazza… plenty other options to discover, say hello to Gianni on my side when there.

This restaurant serves some of the best seafood I've ever tasted. My starter of baby octopus in sauce was delicious. Very accommodating staff as we arrived without a booking. The restaurant was quite busy but we were able to be seated on their outside terrace. Serving staff were very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Definitely reccomend.

This was by far a great unexpected experience .We were at Antinori vineyards and there were no openings for lunch. We sure ar happy because this meal was outstanding in every way . From staff to the outstanding food ! The fresh carpaccio del dia , the pastas were exquisite , and our fish magnificent ! Just perfect ! Don miss it if you are anywhere near by. Our waitress Cristina was so cordial and when we finished dining, we were the last couple in the restaurant , she gifted us a complimentary glass of vino . We had already had a bottle pino Grigio w our meal . I asked about a wonderful cracker bread they served and she came out with a bag to take with us ! Just an unforgettable exp ! We love when these adventures occurs ! Grazie milli !

Very close to Antinori and in the heart of Garbino, this restaurant was bustling with locals and tourists (like us) which made the atmosphere come alive in such a great way. Food: 5/5. We had Florentine steak which was cooked just right and full of flavour. Also a pasta and a side of potatoes, it was all incredibly delicious. Come dolci, we indulged in their panna cotta options and they nailed it on all aspects. Service: 5/5. Not much to say here other than they did very well and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. Our reservation was held and we were served quickly.

Amazing! Stopped by here during our attempted visit to the restaurant by the winery but since they do not allow any dogs in the facility we made a last minute swap here and didnt regret it! The food was amazing and the waiter super kind and helpful! The restaurant had a very local atmosphere along with it having very affordable and good prices allowed us to have a good nice meal without the problem of prices being tourist prices

Located in the heart of the historic center, specifically at Via IV Novembre, Via Machiavelli and Piazza Pierozzi where they intersect, you can find Cantinetta del Nonno. This charming restaurant is surrounded by street cafes and well-stocked wine shops. If you're seeking a hidden gem away from crowded places, this is a magnificent discovery.
We came to this restaurant ten years ago when we were staying in San Cascionne from the recommendation of our air bnb host. We loved it so much we ended up going back twice more during that trip. The owner was really helpful, not only in helping us pick dishes and try new things but also giving advice for what to do locally. Now ten years later we still remember him and the restaurant. Although we were staying over an hour away, we drove into town just to go to that restaurant. The owner was still there! We had anotjer lovely server - super attentive, explained the menu very patiently as I kept asking many different questions. He then offered to do half portions so we could try more appetizers, which was so very appreciated...and they were all delicious. Our mains were equally delicious - the truffle pasta was loaded with truffles and my sons simple pasta ragu was super flavourful. I'm pleased our lovely memories of the place still hold true ten years later!
Libby W — Google review
The owner was very helpful in suggesting nice food and helping us share the pasta and starters. We had a mixed grill plate and it was absolutely fantastic in terms of taste and quality. Also good: the red house wine, an easy, fruity Chianti. We vame back a second time to try other items on the menu. Everything was very very tasty.
Titus N — Google review
We came without reservation and were lucky to get a table. The stuff is really nice and complement a cozy atmosphere here. We also liked our food - pasta with black truffles, and appreciated the portion size. Regarding the parking: it’s hard to find something close, so we parked on a public parking spot, which is 10 mins walk away from the restaurant.
Server K — Google review
We sat outside, and that allowed us not only to enjoy the food, but also the pleasant early summer night and the people of San Casciano walking back and forth along the street. We loved food and the friendly service. They have beer, even though it's not on the menu.
Andrea C — Google review
Wonderful restaurant with amazing owner Guiseppe and staff who provide top shelf service and food with great prices. We had dinner there twice during our visit to Tuscany. Delicious pasta, salads, antipasti and main dishes like roast pork and chicken cacciatore. Lots of local people we’re dining throughout which is a good barometer of the quality of the food. Guiseppe told me that he wants to provide a traditional atmosphere of home cooking that is accessible to everyone and he certainly accomplishes this every day! The local bottled wine he serves is only 13 Euro and if you don’t finish it, you only pay for what you drink. I highly recommend this place and if you go, say hi to Guiseppe for me!
Ann M — Google review
Came here for lunch, absolutely fantastic food. Loved all the dishes, and the tiramisu was AMAZING. Very charming, welcoming environment.
Gabrielle D — Google review
We visited this restaurant with fond memories from a few years ago, but sadly, the experience this time left us more than disappointed. Things started off on the wrong foot: despite having a table reservation, we were met with a sense of confusion, almost as if our presence was an inconvenience. We had asked to be seated outside, but were told—somewhat curtly—that it wasn’t possible due to incoming rain. Fair enough, we thought—until we saw several other guests being guided outside shortly after, under a perfectly blue and cloudless sky. The restaurant was less than half full when we left, so the logic behind our placement remained a mystery. We were seated near a back hallway, next to what felt like the restaurant’s service area—hardly the welcoming atmosphere we remembered. Unfortunately, the food didn’t manage to redeem the situation. The bread was dry and tasted like it had skipped a day of freshness, and most of the pasta wasn’t any better except the truffle pasta. We had initially planned to enjoy a full meal, but after the pasta, we simply wanted to leave. It’s disappointing to write this, especially after a lovely visit three years ago, but we can no longer recommend this restaurant—especially not to foreigners hoping for a warm and memorable experience. We won’t be returning either. Note: I deleted my 5 star review from 3 years ago in order to have this new one with recent experience instead here, as not several reviews is not possible in Google reviews.

The remarkable dining experience at Ristorante Nello encompasses every aspect of excellence. Under the guidance of Chiara and Frederico, the restaurant has been rejuvenated into a contemporary culinary masterpiece, while still honoring its historical roots. The fusion of top-notch ingredients, inventive cuisine, and impeccable service creates an unforgettable symphony for the taste buds. Each dish surprises with its extraordinary flavors and delightful touches. Chiara's exceptional warmth and attentiveness add to the overall enjoyment.
What a find! The level of creativity, detail orientation, and taste were quite far beyond expectations. The food was so good that, during our first course, my dining partner and I implemented a rule to place the eating utensils down between bites to ensure we savored every taste. The beef tartare was my favorite while the risotto, the “not risotto”, and the Peposo to the East were also excellent. While there was a wait for dessert, the Snello was worth it. The entire experience was amazing. Implement the rule.

Nello deserves a star - asap! The food was super creative with a great love for details and unbelievably tasty. Coupled with the amazing service of Chiara, Ristorante Nello manages to create a magic dinner experience that everyone traveling the area should try out. We have been to many Michelin-starred restaurants before that would have a hard time competing with Ristorante Nello! The exploding ravioli and the “by candlelight” dessert are to die for! We will definitely be back!
Marius E — Google review
An exceptional culinary experience – refined, rooted, and truly memorable We had lunch at Nello and were genuinely impressed. This is modern Italian cuisine at its best – reimagined with creativity and finesse, yet deeply respectful of its roots. The two pasta dishes stood out in particular. The ravioli could easily be served in a three-star restaurant in Italy – and would receive standing ovations. Special praise also goes to the pâtisserie. The craftsmanship, the balance of flavours, and the elegance of textures were truly remarkable – a perfect conclusion to an outstanding meal. The setting is calm and understated, in a quiet village, with warm, attentive service and a kitchen that clearly masters both craft and vision. A rare combination in the region. We’ll definitely be back.

What an amazing surprise. Our host at the hotel made the reservation for us. We didn’t know it was fine dining. We got the chief menu, but they modified it slightly to fit each of our diets. The wine pairing was delightful (not all Chianti) 😜. Definitely worth a visit.

I had the absolute pleasure of dining here during my trip to Italy, and it was truly one of the highlights of the entire trip. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The food was beyond incredible — every dish was perfectly prepared, full of authentic flavors, and beautifully presented. You can truly taste the quality of the ingredients and the care that goes into every plate. The atmosphere was equally amazing — warm, inviting, and full of that classic Italian charm that makes you want to sit and enjoy for hours. Whether you’re inside or outside, it’s the kind of place where you immediately feel relaxed and taken care of. But what really made the experience special was the staff. They were kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making sure every detail was perfect. You can feel their passion for what they do, and it adds so much to the experience.

The innkeeper suggested this eatery, where we sought a traditional Florentine-style bistecca. We received a warm reception upon arrival and discovered the restaurant's exquisite setting amidst natural surroundings. Opting to sit outside on a pleasant evening, the staff explained the menu meticulously in English. Our meal was delectable, accompanied by one of the finest bottles of wine recommended by our hostess. This establishment comes highly recommended for its fantastic cuisine and charming ambiance.
We had a chance to experience this amazing restaurant in San Casciano. We made reservation from the website (it was good decision because inside was full afterwards) , the owners welcomed us on our arrival . The first beautiful thing that I loved is this smile that you see on their face . Secondly Maya took care of us during the night and was so patient and helpful with my 50 questions about wine and food :) . We felt like we are having dinner at home warmness. Food was delicious. Price was moderate. We left there so amused . I highly recommend this place . Thank you for hospitality .

If you can get a table, take it! We wanted to leave the crowds and tourists of Florence and experience real Tuscany. Loved that the menu was all in Italian. Loved that we were the only non-Italians in the restaurant. Every course we had was exceptional. Beyond delicious! The owner and his wife Cristina were lovely. I order a bowl of salad which was consist of lettuce, some piece of carrots and chopped cherry tomatoes for 8 or 9 Euro, but before I finished my salad I found a piece of curly hair on the bottom of the salad bowl. The owner apologized but didn’t take it off from the bill.

Our innkeeper recommended this restaurant. We were looking for traditional bistecca Florentine style. We were warmly welcomed. The restaurant is beautiful, in a natural environment. We sat outside on a lovely evening. The menu was carefully explained to us in English. Ourfood was delicious and we enjoyed one of the best bottles of wine we have had, recommended by the hostess.

Nestled in the enchanting wooded hills of Tuscany, Trattoria dì sor Paolo Ristorante & Cantina is a charming family-owned eatery that exudes warmth and authenticity. With its traditional decor and inviting outdoor patio, diners can savor delightful Tuscan cuisine while enjoying a refreshing breeze, even on hot days. The menu features an array of classic dishes like wild boar and rabbit, showcasing the region's rich culinary heritage with fresh ingredients that burst with flavor.
Caution: Charm overload! This traditionally decorated restaurant is nested in some of the most wooded hills of Tuscany, the food was great and the service fast and attentive. We dined in the outdoor patio, and even if it was a very hot day, the location has some nice breeze coming through. The menu layout is cute, however difficult to read, especially for non-italians. The menu offers many traditional Tuscan dishes, including wild boar and rabbit, food quality was excellent. Price was a bit steep but worth it, would dine here again.

Wonderful experience, seated outdoors in the sun with the smell of woodfire in the air. Service was great with the host allowing us to mix crostini so we could try different options. Food was great and house wine delicious! The menu looked so good we were tempted to come back for dinner

Very good homemade pastas and lovely service from our waiter who patiently explained the entire menu to us. Italian crowd and we were (almost) the only tourists. Not one for a spectacular view but a good spot for yummy and decently priced pastas

I have eaten meals all over the world and this was literally one of the best. Wow! Especially the primi. We ordered some secondi that were a bit heavy for our tastes, but nonetheless quite good too. Fresh ingredients and the most delicious flavors. This is real Tuscan food. Highly highly recommend.

A Casa Mia is an authentic osteria tucked away in a secluded hillside village. With its leafy outdoor seating area, it offers robust pasta dishes, bruschetta, and charcuterie plates. The cozy restaurant is run by Cosimo and Maurizio Simoncini who serve hearty portions of traditional Tuscan home cooking at reasonable prices.
A local restaurant with fantastic choices. You are eating at Lorenzo's house! The sampler appetizer is big enough for 4. We had the mozzarella caprese, tagliotti with meat, and rabbit & penned. The dessert sampler was outstanding! Recommend you buy a higher priced chianti. I had the Poggio Torselli. Small restaurant, close tables, made new friends.

Wow … if you can get in , get a table . Great place , and fantastic food … a real find in this small village . We had the antipasti , then the pork and mushroom (pasty as it turned out - lovely ) as well as the rabbit with rosemary and potatoes . There were fritti anti pasti , and a selection of small cakes that we ate too quick to take a picture of ! Two bottles of wine as well , €160 euro for 4 people . Great !

Osteria Il Gallo Giallo, a Tuscan restaurant, offers traditional cuisine with fresh and delicious dishes. The homemade cantucci paired with vino santo are exceptional. The interiors are cozy and the prices offer great value for money. A group of people had the opportunity to taste various dishes, all of which were excellent. Although the portions may appear small initially, they are filling and full of flavor. The extensive wine list showcases local products at reasonable prices.
Wonderful service and food at this small Osteria in the heart of Chianti. Amazing pastas...modern yet with the classic heart of Tuscany. We also had the pork which was beyond good. I dare say the best pork I've ever had. Wonderful people and wonderful place to dine.

The restaurant offers typical Tuscan dishes. Everything we’ve ordered was fresh and delicious. Homemade cantucci (literally just made the same day) with vino santo were the best we’ve ever had. We were driving to another destination where we had made reservations, but couldn't locate the place and accidentally stumbled upon Trattoria AnticaCalcinaia. We were delighted to find this establishment with its impressive decor, pleasant ambiance, and soothing jazz music. The cuisine was exceptional in both flavor and quality, and the wine selection was excellent. The restaurant offered a wide array of vegetarian options as well.
We stayed at Salvadonica and took a nice mid day walk. We decided to eat here and had an amazing time. The service was outstanding! My wife had the chianti risotto and I had the pasta with boar sauce. Both tasted wonderful like home cooked meals your Grandmother would make. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. Also the dog Louie was soo handsome and nice and loved getting attention.

During dinner we shared a few appetizers, a pizza, and a dessert. The waiter was quite a character which added to the charm of the place. We had a great time from when we arrived. Our waiter was from Poland and she had been working there for only 3 days. The wine was well matched with our dishes which included 3 different pizzas, the pasta with wild boar ragu and Fiorentina chicken with fried veggies. The owner then graced our party with vin santo and biscotti. Our adventure continued when he said the credit card system was down and we were cash depleted. He said we could come back tomorrow and pay but we went and found an atm and went back that night and paid our bill. All in all a complete experience in Tuscany.

I have visited the Antica Fiaschetteria del Chianti restaurant twice and had superb dinners with excellent service. The lady owner is very friendly and kind, and her restaurant has the potential to earn Michelin stars based on the quality of her offerings. I would definitely go back again in the future. The square where it's located is beautiful, creating a lovely atmosphere.
We have been twice to this small little restaurant, and had extremely great dinners and service. Creations are exceptional and not the usual recipes, which was very very tasty. The atmosphere was unreal, calm and not like our trip in Florence. Florence, we love, but my boyfriend and I felt like this was the La Dolce Vita. Best house wine we had, by far. The mozzarella and prosciutto were phenomenal. I have a weakness for artichokes and (I believe the owner) let me get artichokes on the side with the antipasti. And then we had the spicy spaghetti, and a garlic spaghetti. Let me tell you- hands down the best meal with the best environment. My guy and I were talking more about this place than what we ate in Florence.

Pizzeria Sottocasa is a popular spot known for its delicious and affordable pizzas, as well as its friendly and accommodating staff. The ambiance creates a great dining experience, prompting many visitors to make return reservations. Located in Tuscany, it offers not only great pizza but also delightful desserts at reasonable prices. Despite the lack of phone service within the restaurant, patrons have raved about the food quality and the amiable staff who are understanding even with language barriers.
We came upon this place earlier in the day when we were at the mercato and were looking at the menu for a place to eat dinner. Two young local girls told us to come back and eat here because they have good pizza. And they were right! It was busy inside and the only tables available were near the pizza oven. Very hot! So the proprietor took us outside and seated us at a table immediately. We had to house rosso (red) wine, 1 liter for 10 euro and a delicious large salad with tuna, egg, ham, lettuce and tomatoes for 9 euro. And shared a pizza for 9.5 euro with tomatoes, mozzarella, olives, ham and artichoke hearts. Delicious! I highly recommend this place!

With its upscale ambiance and breathtaking hilltop views, this restaurant provides an unforgettable setting for a memorable dining experience.
We have started in Salvadonica for 3 nights. The plans were not to eat at the restaurant everyday, but in the end we did it as the first night we had an amazing experience. The menu is refined and the food is just delicious we had it all, starters, main, deserts and lots of wine. Vincenzo the maître was absolutely attentive, he always got the time to come and serve us first and explain about the wine and the food. He gave us great suggestions and made us try local products. The last night was my father’s birthday and it could not be more special. We had a tailored cake made to him with his favorite flavor. We also did the tasting menu the second night and the wild boar dish was great. The gnocchi with the pumpkin and blue cheese was definitely the best though. Excellent service and phenomenal views of the vineyards and surrounding countryside. Salvadonicas chianti classico is good as well.

Made reservations several weeks out for a party of seven. When we arrived, they had our reservation and table ready. The atmosphere here was truly amazing. Gorgeous location in the Tuscan countryside and only a 35 min drive from Florence. Everyone in our party was happy with their food, but one dish in particular really stood out to me. The pici noodles with wild board ragu (pic below). I've had plenty of wild boar Ragu in my travels to Italy, but I must say, this was the best I've ever had. If you have kids in your party, as I did with my 4 year old son, then this property is perfect for walking around and exploring if your young one gets board while everyone is eating.

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I ordered a burger that came with a 60/40 meat-to-fat ratio — something I’ve never seen anywhere in the world, and I travel a lot. Even my dog eats a better ratio than that. I sent the plate back, and when it returned, it came with hair on it. Absolutely unacceptable. The staff were truly lovely, but please, change the chef. This is not just disappointing, it’s downright inadmissible for a restaurant.

And let’s not even start on the stunning Tuscan surroundings… pure hedonism! 💖

Relais Poggio Borgoni - Osteria Il Poggio is a charming retreat nestled in the tranquil surroundings of vineyards and olive groves, just 25 km south of Florence. The hotel offers warm and elegantly furnished rooms with modern amenities, including satellite TV and free Wi-Fi. Guests can enjoy a traditional Tuscan dining experience at the on-site restaurant, which also boasts a fine selection of local wines.
We stayed here for four nights in August and absolutely loved our stay. As per the website and online, this is a three start boutique style "hotel" so expectations should be set accordingly. Nevertheless, the settings were BEAUTIFUL, the pool was so amazing, the service was top notch, and the rooms were perfectly comfortable and spacious for our needs. We spent our first two nights in a lower category room which was on the ground floor. For the second two nights, we went one category up and moved to a second floor room with an unobstructed view of Tuscany and woke up one more to hot air balloons. The beds were on the harder side, but that wouldn't stop me from staying here again. The breakfast was phenomenal and set us up perfectly for a day at the vineyards and nearby towns before coming back to relax by the quiet pool. Proximity to the nearby town was perfect as we got to explore a couple of restaurants that we dined at twice each! Highly recommend and can't wait for when I can go back.

We’d recommend this place to anyone. You won’t regret staying here.

Great, quiet and peaceful hotel. The location is off the beaten track, but easy access to Florence and nearby town. It’s quiet and peaceful. The pool is great, overall hotel is clean and tidy. Isn’t too big. Beautiful view. Osteria also serves tasty meal. To improve - better room amenities – there were no glasses, cups, or a kettle. Lack of privacy outside the room – restaurant terrace. Deciding to stay in this area is hard so I'll be as in depth as i can to help you make your choice. Notes about location: - in my mind everywhere in this area is good. In regards to this place there is a beautiful view over the valley and it is on the high side of the hill with an olive grove that you can explore....I didn't explore but I assume that you'll only see olive trees. Its a nice quiet rural location and although there is a road going right past you we didn't notice the cars much if at all. Up the hill a bit further is a really nice looking town and a nice place to spend a little time. Its not really a place to stay all day for days at a time but its a good place to stay and then travel around. That said, our main focus was Florence (Firenze) on this trip and we should have stayed closer to town than this. Next time we want to explore the region and not go to Firenze at all. I will rate as many aspects as I can out of 5 to help set your expectations; Bed - 3.5/5. Slightly firmer than a Hilton hotel bed but more give in it than a holiday Inn bed. Very supportive. We added a doona under the sheets and it was like a 4.5 bed after that. Pillows were excellent Bathroom - 4.5/5. Toilet and shower was downstairs. No bath and shower recess wasn't massive but adequate. Good water flow Bathroom amenities - 5/5. Not the same as a 5 star hotel but you have everything you need Cleanliness - 5/5 Size of room - 5/5. There is a downstairs loungeroom and an upstairs bedroom - between the two spaces there was plenty of space to put everything Luggage space - 5/5 Comfort and amenities - 5/5, lounge, air con etc. It seems to me that when you use the air con that the radiator heaters turn off (assuming the aircon gets the room above a certain temp). So on the first night we got a little cold until the radiator heaters kicked back in but on the 2nd night we were very cosy. The bedding used blankets rather than a doona and there's an extra blanket in the cupboard which we needed for the first night. Peace and quiet - 5/5 Didn't hear a peep from anyone Food - 5/5. For breakfast I think you can ask for eggs cooked your way - but this wasn't explained to us so we just had boiled eggs. Breakfast isn't like a hotel but there are good selections of a range of options enough to make breakfast very satisfying. Gluten free options were given to my wife. on the 2nd morning we left very early so on the previous night they gave us some yoghurts to out in our fridge over night. We had dinner there which was excellent. Good locally sourced food cooked well. Location - see comments above....you make up your own mind. Wifi - 4/5. Service - 5/5. From reception to restaurant the service was kind and friendly. Overall the room and accommodation generally was very nice and if this location suits you then I highly recommend staying here. yes it looks a little older but that's the charm of it. Our room was on two levels so if you get this room then don't wear socks on the terracotta tiled stairs as it can be a little slippery - or ask for a room without stairs.

It was a little sanctuary. We got the biggest room they had - a duplex. The bed was comfortable and the furniture was rustic. The view this place provided was amazing - it was so relaxing to sit outside and watch the sun set over the rolling hills. The food in the restaurant was good even if the menu was limited. They had good vegetarian options as well. I’m sure the tap water is drinkable but filtered sparking water was available upon request. My partner left his watch and one of the kind staff met up with us in Florence to return it. Absolutely going above and beyond. I highly recommend this Tuscan rustic treasure.

While driving through this town we stumbled upon Pizzeria Ristorante La Carbonaia. The Place was quite crowded during the week, so we decided to give it a shot. And the pizzas were perfect. We can only recommend this pizzeria any day of the week!

It is easy to just walk past Pizzeria La Carbonaia . The entrance is a small doorway into a modern, not too large restaurant. We were welcomed by a friendly service. We were served various dishes, ranging from risotto, pasta dishes to, of course, freshly baked pizza. All served swiftly (within 10-15 minutes). Each dish was really fresh and delicious. We returned a few times, every single time we enjoyed delicious food. Even on a Sunday we arrived unexpectedly, the restaurant was fully booked, yet the manager put in the effort for us to still enjoy a meal. Talking about hospitality! We also enjoyed the fact that the locals were sitting there, or picking up their takeaway. All in all we really recommend going to Pizzeria La Carbonaia for your dinner. Whenever you are near San Casciano in Val di Pesa, go there and it will be worth your while.

Worst experience we’ve had by FAR in Italy. Where do I even start. It was despicable. We were 4 people sitting outside. I took short pasta (they bring me the wrong plate at first, I started eating 15 minutes after everyone). My friend took the lamb. The worst dish of his life. I couldn’t finish the bite. the sauce was despicable. The worst thing I ever tasted. I thew my bite out in a napkin. Couldn’t finish it. The sauce tasted old stuff, we still talk about it in the car on the way home. It was absolutely awful. My fiancé and her sister took the risotto. It was just yellow rice, almost Uncle Ben’s rice from the US. When my pasta finally came, it was as if I made them. And god knows I don’t know a thing about cooking. The sauce was just not good and the pasta were overcooked. I simply couldn’t believe we were eating these meal in Tuscany. Unbelievable. After 3 bites of my plate, we decided to leave. Our plates were full. My friend tried his best to eat the lamb, but the sauce was just unbearable. I’ve got the taste in my mouth as I’m writing these lines. We obviously paid, but truthfully, that was an absolute horror of a night. I absolutely don’t recommend this restaurant, as beautiful as it may seem from the outside.

Staff were friendly and sat us without booking, ravioli pasta dish was delicious, as was the fritto misto and marinara dish — with lacking Italian and access to translate we took a chance on some mystery dishes and were surprised — service was as expected for a classic authentic Italian — enjoyable experience

Great place for Dinner, very friendly service, also great location for a camper rest
Heiko S — Google review
This was unfortunately the worst dining experience we had in all of Italy. Our main meals didn’t arrive at the same time and most had finished before the last two arrived. Food was average apart from the ravioli which gives it the first star. The second star is for the young waiter with the big smile.
Kim M — Google review
We came for only a short time. The food was great, very quickly prepared, especially the kids' pizzas. The service and staff were excellent. One thing, though, the mosquitoes in the terrace (with the great view) had us move into the restaurant itself. It is that time if year...
Merav H — Google review
The service was good. The food is ok. Not sure if the chef was having a bad cooking day but the risotto we had was really raw, we sent it back and it came back still raw, almost aldante but still on the raw side. The portion was really small which we didn't mind. The grilled shrimp and squid was charred and tasty but our other dish, the rabbit was salty and not tender. Overall we wouldn't go back here. There were only one other couple here so the chef shouldn't have any reasons to under cook our food.

Trattoria Della Fonte is a picturesque destination for wine tasting and dining, with stunning surroundings and excellent service. The venue offers lovely food at reasonable prices, set amidst amazing views in the middle of nowhere. While the villas up the hill offer beautiful accommodations, having a car is essential due to the challenging road conditions. The restaurant boasts fantastic amenities like a pool and tennis court, with an impressive view over Tenuta Tignanello vines.
Out of a two week trip exploring Italy, this was by far the best meal we had! We were blown away by the incredible view when we arrived, and then watched a beautiful sunset over the vineyards. The whole staff was lovely and kind enough to speak with us in English. The food was perfection, we ordered a little bit of everything and shared it all. The truffle gnocchi was so good it made me a cry a little! If you are in the area, you need to eat here!!

We went to visit for the first time this year, and we love it ! The food is superb and maintains the local traditional style. The menu and the wines are all very well priced. The service and waiters are over the top, managed by Mr. Michele who made the visit even better. Grazie mile Don't miss the sunset !

We are just here for the dinner and we ordered the food which is REALLY average.. the same food - pici with truffle - we had only few pieces of truffle on top vs the Italian family next to us had a PLATE of truffle. I don’t think they like foreign tourists that much. Will never come back. Solid one star!

Restaurant was very disappointing. Our ordered wine was never brought to the table and maybe they were busy. All food served was just okay. Taste is below average for Tuscany cuisine. Truffle was given a little portion. Service was little in addition to that we never got our wine….

You can discover a comprehensive selection of dishes and beverages available at La Cantinetta Delnonno in San Casciano. The menu comprises 31 options, all of which can be found on the restaurant's website. If you're interested in the changing offers, it is advisable to contact the owner via phone or through the provided contact information on their website. Patrons have praised the stunning views offered by this establishment, as well as its spacious and brightly lit dining area that avoids overwhelming with excessive colors.
This place is awesome. You have an amazing view. The food is really good. The service is great, our waiters last sunday 24/02 were really professional. The menu isn’t all Tuscan which is nice for a change.

It's about 20 minutes by car from Florence, on the hills, with a beautiful landscape. So, the view is wonderful. The restaurant is part of a hotel with a swimming pool and a Finnish sauna. The dishes they serve aren't really typical of Tuscany, but they're very tasty and fresh. The service is smart, the waiters and waitresses are really kind and nice.

Had 2 meals here, the views are stunning! The dining area is light, airy and not overcrowded with colours to distract from the real view. Staff very friendly, gave us recommendations on what to have. Our meal was good although my risotto was disappointing. Second night we went for the BBQ buffet evening, food was great, meat tender and plenty of it, all cooked in front of us. Overall good but not the 5 stars I’m afraid as it didn’t awaken my taste buds.

Food was not great. We struggled to cut the pork with a butter knife the entire night and were unable to get our server’s attention to ask for a sharper knife. The gnudi dish was not good and was lost in the cream sauce. There are also way too many plants everywhere hitting me in the face as I was eating and making it very dark and hot. Wouldn’t go again.

The food was amazing. I had eggplant Parmesan. It was the best I’ve ever had! I did pay an extra $10 per person for the sunset experience with a cocktail and snacks with a special area for enjoying these things but when we got into the restaurant some of the staff were not aware of that.

Very friendly staff who made space for us despite being completely full and we had no reservation. The atmosphere was relaxed and decorations were colourful. We've been herre twice in the last month - and both times the food has been fantastic and of very high quality. The hamburgers are made from excellent ground beef and the bun is also very delicious. The pizzas are made with a special blend of grains that make a very light and digestible base for the toppings, all of which have been sourced from nearby producers. None of the meats used on the pizzas come from packets, but are supplied by a local master butcher. You can taste the quality, and the value for money is second to none! Also, the park setting is lovely and relaxing. Highly recommended.

The best pizza in Chianti!! On my trip to Italy, I have been eating pizza in Rome and Tuscany for the last few weeks to find the best. The pizza at Denso is excellent. The freshest ingredients and very flavorful with creative toppings. The dough is made with top quality flour and cooked to perfection- thin and crisp. Denso is located is a pretty park like setting. Da Saba - I Gigli is a restaurant located in the Gigli shopping center, offering a variety of delicious food options. The pizza is highly recommended for its excellent dough and generous toppings. The menu also includes pasta dishes and sandwiches, providing good value for money. Despite some slow service, the staff are friendly and courteous, creating a welcoming atmosphere. With acceptable prices and good portion sizes, it's a great place to enjoy a meal while shopping or as an after-dinner option.
Lovely place with delicious pizza. Don't forget to try their pistachio cheesecake.

Food, when it arrived was good portions and good value. We chose this restaurant as it was significantly quieter than the others in the food court of the Gigli shopping centre, probably because it was tucked away slightly from the others. Service was a little slow though. We ordered five pasta dishes and quite a few tables that arrived sometime after us got their food first. Luckily we were not in a rush and when it arrived it was very good portions, especially for the price.

(Translated by Google) Cozy atmosphere, they gave us a more isolated table, which we appreciated since there were a lot of people in the other room. The mussels were good, but the clam shells were fragmented and we ended up with many pieces, some not even visible, while eating, which made it difficult to enjoy the dish. The bread was delicious, dipping it in the sauce made it even more delicious. The paccheri were the best part, delicious and with plenty of sauce. When the octopus arrived we were already full, so we left some potatoes, a great disappointment because they too were as good as the octopus, which was soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Good value for money taking into consideration that it was located inside I Gigli. The service was a little slow, it took them a while to clear our plates, but it wasn't a big problem. I highlight again the problem of the fragmented shells, which was a great shame.

(Translated by Google) I often stop to eat here, everything is good! The place is nice, with seats inside and outside on the veranda. The service is fast and friendly. For lunch there are various types of fixed price menus, I recently tried the first course menu with tagliolini alla cartere, I recommend them. The piadinas are delicious, they customize them however you want. In the evening they serve them with fries included, as they are also included with the sandwich. The pizzas are tall, I prefer thin and crunchy but these are good, they are not heavy and digest well. For desserts I recommend creme brulee and tiramisu, which despite using ladyfingers which I don't like, is delicate. Fair prices, worth the visit! (Original) Mi fermo spesso a mangiare qui, è buono tutto!

Il Gatto Re Osteria is a charming establishment that offers delightful cuisine in a pleasant atmosphere. The dishes are imaginative and scrumptious, satisfying the taste buds with their unique flavors. The attentive waiter, possibly the owner, goes above and beyond in providing excellent service by recommending the best food options and offering various side choices for the steak. The lavender walnut ravioli is particularly exceptional.
I wanted to have an excuse to say that Italian food is at the level of the Spanish food I enjoy when I often visit Spain. Well, finally this restaurant showed me the wonders of real, home-made, local and organic Italian food. Amazing, fantastic and bravo. I enjoyed every bit of it! The carpaccio with truffle was incredible, so much flavor, so well executed. The carbonara with seppia tagliatelle, the pâté with hassle nuts and honey, tartar with truffle (fresh tartuffo), and the meat was incredibly flavorful and tender. For dessert, I had the best tiramisu I had in my trips to Italy, one out of many, the best. This place is in a small village in Tuscany, closed to Florence, a wonderful treat during our stat at Castello di Cafaggio.

This restaurant is perfectly placed in the old town’s scenery, but the really impressing thing about it was the quality of the food and the ease with which the only waiter managed to serve 6 tables at once without any problems whatsoever. Osteria le Corti offers an intimate and charming wine-tasting experience that is perfect for those seeking a personal touch. Nestled in a cozy setting, the venue is small but inviting, with a warm ambiance that immediately puts you at ease. The staff are incredibly friendly, making sure each guest feels welcome and engaged throughout the tasting. The wines themselves are delightful, showcasing a variety of local flavors and highlighting the richness of the region’s winemaking traditions. Each pour comes with a detailed explanation, adding depth and appreciation to the experience. However, I couldn’t help but feel that something was missing—namely, a cheese pairing. While the wines stood beautifully on their own, the addition of some thoughtfully curated cheeses could have elevated the tasting to a whole new level. It’s a small critique, but one that would make a significant difference for those who enjoy pairing flavors. Overall, Osteria le Corti is a wonderful stop for anyone looking to explore local wines in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. While the space is small, it adds to the charm and ensures a more personal experience. I’d gladly return, and I hope next time they consider incorporating cheese into their tastings!

Ristorante Il Mulinaccio is a charming family-run establishment located just outside Florence. It is set within the structure of an ancient water mill, with its original infrastructure respectfully preserved. The staff is highly praised for their hospitality, and the beef dishes are particularly outstanding. While some found the lasagna slightly undercooked, others appreciated the generous portion sizes and delicious food in this picturesque setting.
Very good food and very big portions! We will come back every time we can.

Service was okay as they were quite slow for a Monday night. Surprisingly subpar pasta compared to other places we had gone in the area and in Firenze. A little too salty on the dishes, customer beware.

The staff was really great and the beef is amazing , however the lasagna was a bit too aldente.

Il Cavaliere is a top-notch eatery that offers exceptional service and inventive cuisine. As a large group, we had the opportunity to try nearly all of their appetizers, pastas, and desserts, all of which were phenomenal. They boast an extensive wine selection, with particular emphasis on their own labels that complemented the dishes splendidly. The terrace is simply stunning, providing most tables with breathtaking views of the picturesque Chianti countryside. The staff was exceptionally warm and fluent in English.
🍝🇮🇹🍷 Il Cavaliere, the fine dining restaurant at Castello di Gabbiano in Florence, offers an unforgettable culinary experience in the heart of Tuscany. Surrounded by the castle’s rolling vineyards, the ambiance is as inviting as the menu, blending rustic charm with refined elegance. The highlight of any meal here is undoubtedly the homemade pasta, a true testament to Italian culinary artistry. Each dish is prepared with fresh, local ingredients, perfectly balancing traditional flavors with modern techniques. From rich, creamy sauces to perfectly al dente textures, every bite is a celebration of authentic Tuscan cuisine. The desserts are equally remarkable, crafted with the same level of care and creativity. Whether it’s a decadent tiramisu or a seasonal fruit tart, the sweet offerings are the perfect way to end your meal on a high note. Paired with the estate’s exceptional wines, the dining experience at Il Cavaliere is elevated to a new level. The attentive service and warm hospitality further enhance the evening, making it truly special. Reservations are essential, as this 5-star restaurant is a destination in itself. Il Cavaliere is a must-visit for anyone seeking a refined taste of Tuscany in an enchanting setting.

This was, without a doubt, the best restaurant I visited during my trip to Italy. I actually ended up having dinner here on both nights I was in the area. On the first evening, I ordered à la carte from the regular menu. On the second night, I came back as part of the «Winery Tour & Gourmet Dinner» experience offered by Castello di Gabbiano, and enjoyed a full course meal with wine pairing. Both dinners were absolutely fantastic. The staff were genuinely kind and full of good energy, which made the experience even more memorable. Our whole family agreed that this was the best restaurant of our entire trip. Out of all the wonderful dishes, the ones that truly stole my heart were the «scallop, peas, mortadella, and onion ice cream» from the first night, and the «crispy beef, honey mustard, and pickled vegetables» from the second. Unforgettable flavors. I don’t know when we’ll get the chance to come back to Italy all together again, but if we do, this is the first place I want to revisit. It was such a meaningful and unforgettable experience. Can’t wait to come back here🍀♥️💭

Wow absolutely worth a visit. The surroundings are beautiful, the service warm, welcoming and aware. The food just delicious! So well done and put together. The best we had in Toscany. Do not miss out on this one.

Fun & interesting dining experience. This was far out of our comfort zone in terms of menu and dining experience and we were all pleasantly surprised! Our group did a winery tour followed by lunch at the restaurant where they curated a preset menu for us to enjoy with tastings of their wine. There was something for everyone in our group and it was much more about the experience and atmosphere for us. It was worth the price in our opinion for the tour, tastings, and lunch. Highly recommend for families or a group! Also very easy to work with if you have any allergies or intolerances.

We did the chef’s tasting menu for lunch. We had people with different dietary restrictions and the chef was able to accommodate everyone. The food was incredible. The waiter was very friendly and professional. Highly recommend! Be sure to make reservations.

The only thing better than the food is the amazing service and hospitality. Great Tuscany experience, amazing wines, delicious food, and top notch service. Highly recommend the pigeon and ragu. Great to spend some time after the meal walking the expansive grounds. Have visited twice on our travels to Tuscany and will be sure to return.

Nestled in the Ponterotto locality, Lago Ponterotto is a captivating destination that seamlessly blends history and culinary delight. Villa Mangiacane is a luxurious 15th-century villa nestled in the Tuscan countryside, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. It offers posh, art-filled rooms and chic dining options. This exclusive venue is popular for destination weddings and is conveniently located about 30 minutes from Florence airport, making it an ideal base for exploring Chianti, Florence, and Siena.
I really loved Villa Mangiacane 🌸 It is such a beautiful Villa, well located in the center of Tuscany. The service is very good, people were nice, kind & helpful. My Deluxe Villa Room was beautiful, comfortable bed, and clean (which is what I care the most). The room was spacious and private. The breakfast everyday was delicious, full of fresh fruits and healthy options and also all kind of fresh pastries and delicious eggs meals available. Samantha, the Manager of the Villa, was super attentive and eager to help us with anything that we would need. My only suggestion would be to have more meal options available at the Villa. They can cater any meal if you want to, but the price per person is high. There is a delicious restaurant walking distance from the Villa in case you get hungry at the Villa but don’t want to go so far away. Overall, me and my family had a beautiful experience and we would definitely come back again. Que villa La Toscana! Grazie Mille 🌸♥️
Fabiola M — Google review
Full disclaimer, we had our wedding there and it was perfect. The place is beautiful, the ground staff is great. The problem is the the manager Matteo, he’s very sketchy and not to be trusted. It’s a nice venue, but there are many nice venues in the region. So I would suggest you to stay away. They would go out of their way to lie and take your money. Things to look out for if you already booked with them: 1. Do not order room service, or champagne, or any kind of food or beverage to the rooms, they will charge you “service fee” of €20 per person. We ordered a bottle of champagne for 6 people. And ON TOP of the cost of the bottle (€200) they charged us €120 for this “fee”. You can just go to the restaurant, order it and bring it to your room by yourself . Or eat/drink at the restaurant. 2. They will make up fake items just to charge you. For example, they charged us €600 additionally to hire some chairs for the wedding ceremony even though they used the same chairs from dinner just repurposed them. Watch out for this make sure you don’t pay them more than what you should. As they will lie about giving you a refund but then would ignore your calls and emails to avoid paying. 3. They have many rigid rules, and do not allow any external caterers. Only there in house catering team. Therefore they are monopoly on price and will be a lot more expensive with very limited menu/offering. ——— Update in Feb 2025: I’ve been informed that Matteo has been fired from Villa Mangiacane, which is a very good decision of the owner/management. Hopefully the new manager is decent to do justice for such beautiful and magical venue.

Horrible experience. Among many problems (dirty room, etc.), we were locked out of the villa the first night with no way to get in, no one to help us. We had to literally scale the fence and break in. They said in person and in writing that we could leave a day early and they would refund us for the last night. Now they refuse to refund us or respond to our requests. Unethical scam artists who lied to our faces. This place makes money by having Instagram worthy vistas for weddings and then puts most guests in dirty rooms with no/bad a.c. and treats them poorly. See tripadvisor reviews, etc. from ppl with same experience. Truly a miserable place.

Beutiful place, great location in the heart of Toscany and the people that work there are amazing. We had some issues with the AC but they solved it fairly quickly. The food and service are outstanding. The manager Samantha as well as the others were always ready to solve any of our requests

This is a beautiful historic villa for luxury wedding near Florence, Tuscany. The elegant rooms and impeccable attention. As a Tuscany-based wedding photographer, I've had the privilege of capturing moments at this venue, and the romance in the air was palpable, especially during the two-day Indian wedding I photographed here.
Fabio M — Google review
Terrible experience. The staff was completely misleading and took advantage of us being tourists. We scheduled a time to come out to the Villa to see the grounds and have a wine tasting and dinner. Once we got there (after shelling out 60 euros for cab fare from Florence) they conveniently informed us that the Villa has been rented out to a private family and we wouldn’t be able to see it. What a joke. When I confronted the staff on their tactics they were extremely rude and played the card that “we should have asked before coming”. How about you inform your guests in advance if the main attraction of the entire winery is not available? Food was on par with what you would expect. Wine was underwhelming at best. Bottom line, don’t trust this place. They have no problems fleecing you and taking your money along the way. To top it off I had to spend another 60 euros to get back to Florence. Such a wasted night in such a beautiful city like Florence. That’s the most disappointing part of it all.

Our stay at Villa Mangiacane was really special. The customer service was excellent. We felt like pampered guests throughout our stay. We asked for our complimentary bottle of wine on arrival, and the sommelier Angelo brought it to us and explained its origin. We enjoyed the beautiful view of the Tuscan countryside for a luxurious terrace upon our arrival while drinking the wine. Our room was luxurious. We stayed in a Two-Bedroom Terrace Suite. The room had two floors, and it was a bit inconvenient to go up and down the stairs to pack. But the decor was really beautiful. Water and a mini fridge was provided. A toddler crib was provided for our daughter to sleep in, and our bed was very comfortable. The building itself had a huge shared terrace on every level, and a powder room in the hallway in case we didn't want to have to travel all the way up the stairs in our room to find a bathroom. We took part in the offered wine tasting during our stay, and saw Angelo again. He took us for a tour around the property and talked to us about how they grow their wine grapes and their olives on the property, and how different sorts of wines are prepared. We brought our three year old with us on the tour, and he rolled through her distractions very well. The wine and food was delicious and we came away from the wine tasting feeling that we understood better what we were drinking. Angelo was obviously very experienced in customer service, but we were surprised to find out that he'd only been working at the property for a few days. Most of the staff had only just started working, and it seems that the staff at this hotel is seasonal. Even so, they were very professional and accommodating. We spent a lot of our stay walking around the grounds and they are spectacular. The gardens and vineyards are well maintained an beautiful. The estate is up on a hill with wonderful views from all sides of Tuscan countryside. You can even see Florence in the distance. The interior of the buildings are beautifully decorated and the frescos attributed to Michelangelo on the walls are beautiful. Breakfast was included in our stay, and it was delicious. Fresh fruit, pastries, cheese, salmon, yogurt, bread, juice and of course all kinds of coffee, just to name a few things. Overall our stay was an excellent slice of luxury in our trip, and just the right taste of Tuscan countryside we were looking for.

Twisters Travel Yoga Retreat After completing/leading our our 6 night yoga retreat at Villa Mangiacane all I can say is Wow!! The service was excellent from all staff on sight and in particular by the property manager Tania. She was always smiling and genuinely friendly, helped to organize activies/drivers in a quick and efficient fashion. We stayed in Villa Mazzei and all rooms were not only beautiful, but meticulously clean. Because of Covid we were the only ones on the property and were able to get a full 90 minute historical tour of Villa Machiavelli which is simply amazing (normally this would not be possible as other guests would be there). If at all possible try to get the loggia which offers a spectacular view (on a clear day) all the way to the Brunelleschi Duomo in Florence. The pool and grounds all gorgeus, and an amazing spa as well. The location is great, easy access to Florence by taxi or if you have your own car you can park very inexpensively outside the city and hop on a 5 minute tram ride to get to the historic district. Unlike some of the negative reviews previously written I have nothing but positive things to say. This place is a real gem.

By far the worst meal I have eaten in all of Italy. First, the owner or manager assured me they do not have ice. As for the meal, I ordered pasta with truffles and porcini mushrooms. The photo clearly showed shaved truffle and, as the dish was nearly twice as expensive as other dishes, I naturally figured it was because of the truffles. Unfortunately, the only truffles I saw where in the photo. When I inquired, I was told it came with “truffle cream,” something clearly not stated in the description nor reflected by the price. Not feeling good about my lunch choice, I decided to simply move in after eating approximately 1/3 of the dish. I gave the same gentleman my card, only to be informed they do not accept credit cards, “only cash.” Inedible? No. Disappointing? VERY. Do not waste your time, as did I.

Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, Castello di Gabbiano is a stunning B&B that combines the charm of a historic castle with modern comforts. Dating back to the 12th century, this enchanting property features unique rounded towers and beautifully restored interiors showcasing original terracotta tiles and grand fireplaces. Surrounded by lush Chianti countryside filled with rolling hills, vineyards, and olive groves, it offers an idyllic setting for relaxation or exploration.
We had a wine tasting here. The view was picturesque and the wine cellar was under the street in a castle. my kids had a great experience with the walk through. The bathrooms were very clean. The descriptions by our guide were colorful and full of personality. Highly recommend the wine tasting experience for these reasons.

The castle was truly beautiful, and the staff were energetic and kind. I was completely enchanted by the elegance that comes with age, and I had such a joyful time during our two-night stay. From the winery tour to the restaurant and the pool — we enjoyed every part of the facilities and had a truly relaxing holiday. This stay allowed me to fully take in the beauty of la regione del Chianti in Toscana — memories from Castello di Gabbiano that we will treasure for years to come.

If you are looking for an authentic gem in the middle of the Tuscany Valley then this Castle with its scenic view of lush hills and farms is as good as it gets. Beautiful! Mixed with an exquisite swimming pool and Mediterranean gardens, this is the place to be for wine, dine and relax in your luxury vacation.

An unforgettable experience at Castello di Gabbiano! The wine here is absolutely incredible — beautifully balanced, expressive, and true to the heart of Chianti. Our tasting with Simone was the highlight of our visit; he was knowledgeable, welcoming, and passionate about sharing both the history of the estate and the craft behind each wine. The setting itself is stunning, with panoramic vineyard views that feel straight out of a painting. I can’t wait to return and stay at the property next time. Thank you to Simone and the entire team for such a memorable and authentic Tuscan experience!

We had an amazing 6 nights with our family in the apartments which are just down the hill from the castle. It was very hot so we spent a lot of time at the awesome pool which overlooks the vineyards. Highly recommend the on site restaurant & the wine tour. Staff were super friendly & very helpful. Overall we loved our stay!

I booked Castello di Gabbiano with high hopes based on all the positive reviews. In fact, it somehow exceeded my high expectations. The place is gorgeous, the views are impossibly beautiful, and the staff were amazing and friendly. The breakfast spread was first class and local, and there is an honor bar at the pool that serves both snacks and the Castello’s own wines as well as beer and other drinks. Gabbiano was the highlight of our recent two weeks in Italy and I would definitely return the next time I find myself in Chianti. Book this place if you can.

We spent 2 nights here and we couldn't be happier with our stay. We booked a family room which was situated in a building close to the castle. It had one double bed on the middle floor and one bed each on the lower and upper floors. There was one bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. The pool att the castle was really nice, with an honesty bar right next to it where you could get ice cream and drinks. In the afternoons, complementary coffee and pastry was available. The staff was excellent and very service minded.

I brought some of my friends who were visiting from the USA to the restaurant Il Fiscolo at the recommendation of a cousin of mine. It feels like an "if you know you know" place with a great atmosphere in a great location. We had an incredible time with very charming and lovely servers (English friendly) and ate food that surpassed all expectation and was simply exquisite. I recommend the Tuna, it blew me away (All at a very good price point). While we were having our Aperitivo we walked around to look at the nearby river, checked out the rest of the facilities that the area provided (Gym, Tennis, Ping Pong, Etc.) which were brand new, and enjoyed the sunset glow from the heart of Tuscany. Will Absolutley return and will be recommending this to friends!

Il Fiscolo makes good pizzas and good food. It’s probably one of the best pizzas in San Casciano municipality right now. The only downside is service. Sometimes they are a bit slow and it happened several time we had to wait more than 10 min at the counter to be received by the staff

(Translated by Google) New place among the trees of the "La Botte" park. The atmosphere is welcoming and the style is industrial: warm colors (grey, earth), white lamp covers that spread a pleasant bright light! Truly a nice transformation compared to the trattoria style (but good food) of the past! Service is young, informal but courteous and quite fast. Overall, the quality of the dishes was decent, with some worthy mentions for the raw, crunchy and tasty spaghetti with artichokes and for the duck breast cooked to perfection. The flan was normal and the pizzas can improve; the desserts were good: the cheesecake was particular because it was very light, perfect for an end of the meal. Overall the value for money is excellent!! Maybe the outside could improve because there is no light either in the parking lot or in the garden. Furthermore, in the center of the restaurant there is a large bar counter, which provides aperitifs and drinks on tap. Wide choice of ice creams. Very large and well furnished bathroom, however the saloon style door leaves some doubts.

Incredible time at this family-owned restaurant. It was the best Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Florentine steak + antipasto misto. Tiramisu was light and flavourful. Such great staff and a beautiful location, the service was fast and efficient. Highly Recommend!!!!! ❤️❤️

Absolutely incredible restaurant. From the starters (fantastic portions too) of pappa al pomodoro, ribollita and taglieri; to the main dishes consisting of rosticciana, salsiccia and other types of meat, were all of superb quality. Desserts were incredible, from the cheesecake to the tiramisù. The vino della casa was good. Really, everything was of excellent quality. The restaurant itself is extremely cute, typical family-run Tuscan restaurant. The Matteuzzi family, who all works there is extremely kind and always ensures you have a great time in this wonderful place. Interior design of the restaurant is contemporary and very cozy. Bathrooms are clean and have pedal controlled sinks which is fabulous (unfortunately becoming a rarity in Italy). Cristina, the main character of the restaurant, is an incredibly kind and passionate person which will make your experience at Trattoria Matteuzzi unforgettable. Location is excellent, roughly 20 minute car ride from the center of Florence and very close to San Casciano. It is very well connected thanks to the Firenze - Siena highway. It is located in a beautiful countryside and offers plenty of parking. They also have so much livestock! Chickens, piccioni, they got it all. Price is great, we were a table of 6, ate plenty plenty of food, desert, wine and coffee and pricing was €30 each. I absolutely recommend it, truly a 10/10 experience. Will surely be back! Thank you to the Matteuzzi family for the incredibly hospitality.

The kitchen was closed when we arrived however Christina was so welcoming and hospitable, she was more than happy to offer us some antipasti and home grown produce. Regardless of how the food was going to taste, we would’ve been over the moon just being there, purely from her warm nature. Bonus…..the food and wine tasted amazing! If you are in the area, you must visit! Thank you Christina for your incredible hospitality, we shall definitely come back next time we are in Tuscany!

This authentic tuscan restaurant is one of the best I've been to in San Casciano. The food is exceptional and the service is amazing. We got the pappa al pomodoro and the Ribollita as our first course and they both didn't disappoint, the dishes were pretty much clean after. As our second course we had a selection of different meat like sausages and ribs with potatoes, also incredible. Everything we were unable to finish we took to go as well. I then had a tiramisú as dessert which was the perfect way to end the lunch. I 100% recommend coming here for lunch if you're in the area and enjoy a local restaurant in the countryside.

Botteghina Caffe' Pitti is a charming bar located right in front of the magnificent Palazzo Pitti, offering an excellent interior design and a menu featuring truffle-infused dishes. Visitors have praised the quality of the meals, reasonable prices, and friendly staff who speak good English. The restaurant provides a wonderful view of the Palazzo Pitti and offers delicious food such as truffle risotto and wild boar.
We ate here as two vegans. There is nothing obviously vegan on the menu but they adapted a salad with avocado, and it was delicious. The stand out dish for us was the fagioli (beans) which is on the sides. It was astoundingly good - really garlicky. Would be nice on toast. Would recommend, but not loads of choice. Nice and helpful staff. Nice outdoor seating.

The carbonara was the tastiest I’ve had since being in Italy and the portion was very generous! The food was exceptional and there is a lovely view from the garden of the museum over the road. The only thing to note is that the service is quite slow, and we had to ask for bread, spoons and extra water multiple times before they arrived. However the staff were apologetic and very kind and accommodating.

You might not expect a restaurant directly outside a major tourist attraction (the Pitti Palace) to be good, but the six of us thought the food at the sit-down, al fresco, shaded part of this caffe was excellent, as was the service. I ordered the truffle-centric degustation menu, which included a tasty vegetable flan with creamy cheesey sauce, beef carpaccio with apples, and burrata with arugula, all generously garnished with thinly shaved black truffles (which really tasted and smelled like truffles), and which I accompanied with Rosso di Montalcino. My fellow diners also loved their Cacio e Pepe, smoked salmon & avo salad, and avo, smoked salmon, and burrata tower.

Lovely dinner for 4 with very friendly service. Only rated 4 star for food as we had the sirloin with Chianti reduced wine. Although the flavour grew on us as a local dish, the meat was average. However we saw they do have large T-Bone steak for just 2€ more so would try that next time. Regina our waitress was truly lovely.

An excellent experience - both taste, quality and the service of the staff! I would insist than just recommend to visit here to experience yourself!

A convenient locale across from the palace. Service is cordial and friendly. Seating both indoors and outdoors. Their apple cake desert is worth the calories.

We've been here twice before. Really enjoyed the truffle pasta. Unfortunately, this time it wasn't that good. The pasta still tasted fresh but the truffle just barely had taste. At this price (23€) that's a big let down.. :(

Great location and fabulous service from Regina. I absolutely loved the Tartare Salmone, Avocado E Burrata and Lasagna. It was so good we have eaten there once for lunch, then again for dinner. Would highly recommend :-)

(Translated by Google) Since I was in the area with my partner and mother-in-law we decided to have lunch here attracted by the fame of the place. I can confirm the goodness and quality of the restaurant. A very intimate, almost familiar place, set in a simple but characteristic way. Interesting menu with typical Tuscan cuisine. We took two classic Tuscan appetizers and one with wild boar salami and crostini. 1.2 kg Florentine steak with baked potatoes. Come on. House red, water and coffee. 98 euros for three. Excellent value for money. We were three tables, very quiet and relaxing despite it being May 1st. The chef even came out to greet us. Extremely recommended. I hope to return soon. 98 euro in tre. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Eravamo tre tavoli, molto tranquillo e rilassante nonostante fosse il 1 maggio. Il cuoco è anche uscito a salutarci. Estremamente consigliato. Spero di tornarci prossimamente.

And he puts genuine oil on top, the good one... and it's been like this for 40 years. If you can, avoid Saturday and Sunday when the weather is good because there is usually a queue... obviously. But it's worth the wait.
