Puerto Rican restaurant
Sol Food is a vibrant and casual eatery located in downtown San Rafael, offering traditional Puerto Rican dishes in a contemporary setting filled with plants. The restaurant's menu features classic Puerto Rican favorites such as shrimp sautéed in a garlic, onion, and tomato sauce served with mofongo, salad, and fresh avocado. While Sol Food does not serve alcohol, guests can enjoy refreshing beverages like mango iced tea or Mexican Coke.
This place is amazing! The sandwiches, especially the bistec and cubano, are the most famous items, but the main dishes also shine in this restaurant. The portions are generous, and the drinks are very tropical and fun. They don't serve alcohol, but it's not needed because the food itself is the main highlight here. I loved the gluten-free option for the sandwich; it was a clever twist, rather than using bread, they serve the sandwich between two tostones. I would rate it a 10/10!

🇵🇷 Sol Food San Rafael is a celebrated, vibrant destination known for its authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. This local favorite, easily spotted by its distinctive, brightly colored building, serves up popular dishes like Pollo al Horno and various plantain preparations. While it offers a lively atmosphere and excellent food, be aware that parking is often difficult; the location has limited curbside parking and is known for drawing crowds, meaning long lines are common.
Damahni J — Google review
Light, fresh bites with generous portion. Shoutout to the spicy vinegar—it totally stole the show! Loved the island-inspired decor and chill music playing in the background. The vibe was easygoing, though it got a bit noisy at times.
Grace L — Google review
Delicious food, the bistec sandwich was flavorful! The aguas frescas were also tasty. Staff was friendly and attentive. Seating space is limited, so depending on the group size, it can be a wait to be seated. Can also get loud at times.
Patty A — Google review
I went here because I saw on Instagram someone was saying it's where Bad Bunny goes whenever he is in the Bay Area. I live in San Mateo so it was quite the drive, but soooo worth it! Best Puerto Rican food I've ever had! I ordered the paraiso, the tripleta, and the San Juan. All three were excellent. My friend got the cubano and said it was excellent as well. The fresh squeezed orange juice was good too. I also tried the coconut pineapple smoothie and I love it! Out of the desserts, we tried the coconut flan and the pineapple bread pudding. My friend and I both agreed the coconut flan was the best flan we had ever tried! The bread pudding was fine. Very dense. The atmosphere is fantastic as well, and all the staff were extremely friendly! Overall, I loved the restaurant and will be sure to come back again whenever I am in the north bay! Please come to the peninsula 🫶🏼

My wife and I don’t live I the area, but everyone we pass by, always stop at Sol Food. Fun, fast, friendly consistent service and always good food. This evening my wife and I enjoyed the Camarones Criollos, which is saucy Creole prawns, served with rice, organic salad, avocado, and plantain. (My wife had the plantain and I had the potato fries and we shared each) Can’t wait to visit again soon!
Chris F — Google review
I drove pretty far to try this restaurant. I’m so disappointed. They gave me the wrong order 😫 I know it’s my fault for not double checking but how do you confuse 3 ribs with chicken? Positives: the food is prepared pretty quickly Negatives: the ordering process and the undercooked meat
Natacha J — Google review
Simple and fresh food with large portion sizes. Service was quick, and servers quickly fixed error from one uninformed cashier who insisted to us that picadillo (ground beef) was vegetarian. Would definitely return to the restaurant again, they have a great selection of non alcoholic beverages as well.

Italian restaurant
Il Davide is an Italian restaurant located in San Rafael, CA, offering refined Tuscan cuisine and a lively atmosphere. The chef/owner David Haydon presents a slightly upscale and traditional style with carefully crafted homemade pastas, must-try arancini, six-hour braised Sebastopol lamb shank, signature panko-fried chicken, and alfredo pasta. It's a great spot for lunch specials and delicious desserts.
Absolutely amazing food ambiance and service. 5 stars. The staff are amazing the food recommendations incredible. We enjoyed a gorgeous watermelon and tomato salad as a starter. Then we had our mains . My husband had an Incredible Sea bass and I was wavering between the scampi and a seafood pasta. I asked the waiter to choose for me and he didn't disappoint. Full of different kinds of seafood all cooked perfectly. The tables around us all had food that looked and smelled incredible as it came out. Filled and happy we would definitely come back to this amazing place.
Georgia F — Google review
My Girlfriend and I were finishing up an awesome weekend in Gualala and were really craving some pasta on the way home. After Googling places near us she decided on Il Davide. As soon as we entered we felt the warmth of a proper Italian restaurant. The Hostess asked if we had reservations, I told her we did not. She was very kind and accommodating and found a table for us anyways. Her service was Great! Our waiter was very friendly. I ordered my usual, Lasagna! The food came out in a timely fashion and sure did hit the spot. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely have more Il Davide. 10 out of 10, I recommend!
Jeremy F — Google review
Il Davide is a perfect Italian gem in the middle of downtown San Rafael. I would absolutely recommend making a reservation, or make sure you get there before 5:45 to ensure you have a table. The drinks are split - cocktails were great. Weirdly, the wine fell flat and was borderline disappointing. The food - you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Don’t fill up too much on the bread they bring, while it’ll be tempting. Highly recommend getting the calamari fritti to start. For entrees, go for the house made pasta; it’s what they’re known for. Capellini del diavolo is delightful and not too spicy. The fettuccine viareggio is decadent and full of flavor. And the chicken parm is like no other. All of our plates would have been licked clean if that was appropriate in public. Of course end with some gelato or sorbet. It’s the perfect way to wrap up the meal. Great meal. Will be back!
Natalie C — Google review
David and his amazing staff catered our wedding and did an amazing job! From the beginning David was sincerely invested in our wedding. He helped us decide on table layout at the venue (in person), then took us to an event rental place where David laid out options and we got to pick exactly what we wanted. Next, we came in to Il Davide to taste the menu. David and his team prepared every single item on the catering menu for us. Everything was so good, it was impossible to pick our favorites! The service at the wedding from David and his incredible staff was above and beyond! They were so attentive to all of our guests, especially those with dietary restrictions. The food, most importantly, was absolutely delicious! We picked a diverse selection of entrees and sides, but they all came together on one plate beautifully. I can't recommend Il Davide enough.
Will M — Google review
Il Davide is a great place for all occasions and a family restaurant for all ages. It is a bit formal but you can sit outdoors and still enjoy a grey meal with kids. I love their truffle ravioli the chefs there🧑‍🍳 know how to make a great place. I also had their fried calamari, and scallops pasta 🍝. Every plate was plentiful and the service is just outstanding all around. The wine list is very good and affordable. Their deserts are a great way to end a good meal. I definitely recommend it for a great dinner experience!
Saul G — Google review
Il Davide is an excellent restaurant, and we were fortunate to have David cater our wedding! From the start David was very accommodating, flexible, and helped put us at ease for our big day and make things easy on us. He brought a team to help us transition our space and set up, and when it unexpectedly decided to rain on us, they worked through the weather and set up beautiful tables for our guests. Now of course the food, delicious as always, guests were very pleased and enjoyed all the dishes. People have definitely brought up the meal in the following weeks and I know a few have had to stop by the restaurant for another round! Il Davide is wonderful to eat at, or to host or cater your event, you will have a fantastic meal to remember!
Kevin L — Google review
We fortunately had a reservation, as this place was extremely popular and crowded. The entrance passage is quite small. However, we were greeted by a very enthusiastic host! After a small wait, our table was ready! Served with fresh bread and olive oil. We're vegetarians, so we ordered the Bruscetta for the table, which was delicious. The Main Course, was the Pesto Gnocchi, The Cheese Ravioli which was super delicious!! It was a really delightful experience and our server was really helpful to get us vegetarian dishes too! Thank you! :)
Dhruven S — Google review
You cannot not do better that Il Davide for a special occasion dinner. The have a full bar and specialty cocktails. We had a Davide Gin Spritzer ($15) and a Negroni (not on the menu, but Italian, right?), a Torta Di Porri, “garlic infused leek mushroom tart with a sweet crust,” $12), Brasato Short Ribs, $28) and Ravioi Con Funghi E Porcini (all pasta dishes, $25.90). Everything was SO GOOD! Oh, the wine list is superb with an excellent selection of Italian and California wines. We had a glass of the Daou Reserve cabarnet ‘22 from Paso Robles (most expensive by-the-glass wine, $22) and it was, like everything else we ordered SO GOOD!.

Mediterranean restaurant
Insalata's in San Anselmo is a beloved spot for Mediterranean cuisine, boasting a 20-year history of serving up delectable dishes. The menu features signature small plates like Moroccan lamb meatballs and warm dips with pita, as well as main courses such as roasted yogurt chicken and grilled ahi tuna with Moroccan spiced chickpeas. The restaurant's interior is known for its large-format art and open kitchen, creating an inviting atmosphere.
Birthday celebration with friends and my first time there. Trendy with attentive staff, great cocktails, and a wonderfully balanced menu packed with a roster of delicious food options. We split 3-4 apps amongst the 4 of us and each was a winner. An entree was ordered for each couple and there were left overs that didn't survive the night after getting home! Definitely a great dining and mixology experience that I'll be adding to in the future!
Dan B — Google review
Every dish we ordered was top notch, the taste and textures were perfectly seasoned and balanced in flavors, everything tasted incredibly fresh farm to table, and not to mention beautifully prepared - plating is gorgeous! Luncheon: Between my two cousins and I, we shared a Mezze Plate, Eggplant Fries, Summer Salata, Carrot & Lentil Soup, and a Juicy Lamb Burger (best burger) and both fries were well seasoned and cooked to perfection! It was such a fabulous luncheon, we can't wait to go back! Insalata's beautiful atmosphere, lighting and artwork is inviting, cozy and elevated but not stuffy! Professional and attentive service by our server, Carey!
Lisa D — Google review
Excellent food, great ambiance, we 💖 the very attentive manager . Sadly, the grilled lamb skewers are no longer on the menu. Our waiter, Brian, kept recommending the pork chop and seemed a little bothered when I asked about the lamb. But as always, the food was delicious, and the assistant waitresses and manager were incredibly sweet and attentive, making the experience enjoyable overall.💖

This is our go to restaurant when visiting friends in Marin. We went on a Thursday for late lunch. Solid food and service and a warm and inviting atmosphere with generous space.

Everything we ordered was delicious. Unfortunately, the chicken was sold out, so we couldn’t try it. Must try celebration cake
INDERPREET S — Google review
Great menu with diverse options. Good cooking with very fresh ingredients and interesting/unique preparations - they obviously put care into their food. Pleasant dining space and gracious service. A great find!
Ben — Google review
My wife and I came in on Wednesday night. The food and atmosphere were excellent — the prices are a little high, but the quality of the food makes it worth it. Unfortunately, the experience was spoiled when the bill came. We each ordered a soda and had two refills apiece (six glasses total) and were shocked to be charged $24 just for Coke. At no point did our waitress mention that refills weren’t free, which is unacceptable for a sit-down restaurant serving fountain drinks. On top of that, the soda mix itself tasted off. For what we paid, we expected better. Our waitress’s lack of transparency made it feel like she took advantage of the situation to run up our bill, which was very disappointing and turned what could have been a perfect night into a frustrating one

Comforts is a family-owned homestyle cafe that has been serving locals since 1986. The cozy sit-down restaurant offers a diverse menu of comfort food favorites made with local and sustainable ingredients, including seasonal breakfast and lunch fare. In addition to the popular Chinese Chicken Salad, the cafe also serves stuffed pecan-crusted French toast, chicken Okasan, Korean BBQ flank steak, and Wor Won Ton soup.
Comforts in San Anselmo truly lives up to its name! The Stuffed Pecan-Crusted French Toast is an absolute showstopper…cinnamon challah, perfectly crusted with pecans, filled with sweetened cream cheese, topped with fresh berries, and served with pure maple syrup. Each bite is a heavenly combination of crunch, sweetness, and creaminess. This dish is an unparalleled treasure and an absolute must-try! I also ventured into the breakfast enchiladas, which added a fun and flavorful twist to my morning. The creative and delicious menu, coupled with friendly service and a cozy atmosphere, guarantees a memorable dining experience. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Comforts is a must-visit for comfort food that exceeds expectations!

Really fresh, easy, allergy-friendly food. I had a great bowl with bean, quinoa, greens, and a poached egg. It’s an order at the counter, very chill place. Lots of sun, indoor/outdoor seating, and space.
Jordyn G — Google review
I am very bummed out and upset that I'm having to write this review right now. On Saturday I was craving comfort's chicken Okasan and I went to go purchase a $20 box of it. Unfortunately, there was fly larva on one of the nuggets that I was about to eat. I have never in my life experienced something like this. I honestly feel disgusted that I already ate chicken that has been contaminated by this larva. Please do better comforts. This is a very unpleasant experience for me not to mention an inconvenience. It will honestly take a lot for me to come back. I am honestly so upset right now. This was my favorite restaurant in Marin.

Comforts is a Marin classic. Every Marinite knows about this place and their amazing Chinese chicken salad and chicken okasan. Definitely in our top ten for many years, and always a feature of family gatherings. So good.
Robert M — Google review
Been going here for the past two years and this has become my local brunch favorite. Always plan for the sweet and savory as they regularly change up their menu with traditional favorites plus new additions. The service is exceptional and it seems like they always have a seat available. If it sounds good to you, please try their pecan stuffed French toast, you will not be disappointed.
Chris G — Google review
This renowned eatery in San Anselmo is famed for its Chinese chicken salad, a favorite in Marin County. My wife and I recently explored their lunch offerings and were thoroughly impressed. The vibrancy and freshness of my salad, comprising crisp romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, raisins, assorted nuts, cheeses, and pecans, truly stood out. The service was impeccable, with our attentive waiter ensuring our satisfaction. The efficiency and happiness of the staff clearly indicate commendable management. And for those with a sweet tooth, their display of unique cookies and chocolates is a treat – speaking as a self-proclaimed chocolate enthusiast named Kevin! If you're in search of a top-notch dining experience, whether with family, for business, or with friends, give Comforts a try!
Daniel F — Google review
Amazing Asian tofu salad! Only issue is I carried out and didn’t see that you have to pay extra for them to mix it. That is bizarre and was super annoying but it is truly addictive and my boyfriend couldn’t stop talking about it. I wouldn’t change a thing except the staff was rude and the salad should be mixed without an up charge!

My new favorite place. Idk if I was living under a rock or something but it’s actually such an amazing restaurant and as a Marin native I’m so happy to have found such great authentic Indian food in San Rafael. Kudos to the whole team they are so attentive and wonderful. Esp Winter. I’m quickly becoming a regular.

This is an incredible Indian restaurant -- not only for Marin, for all of the Bay area. It's not just how good the food is taste-wise --they don't use seed oils, they make their own ghee (and offer it for sale) and they have an attached grocery store that has a number of even organic Indian foods and they cook with Organic vegetables whenever possible. It's a family business that is incredibly proud and careful of everything they are doing. They whole place is incredibly clean and hygienic -- and you are literally watching the chefs so you can see how careful and good they are. Highly, highly recommend this restaurant (especially the lunch buffets!) as the best tasting, cleanest Indian restaurant I have ever been to. We'll be back -- often!

This is our to go restaurant in San Rafael Downtown. This place has unique interior - beautifully decorated with an authentic vibe. Super clean inside. One can notice right away that the management and employees take very good care maintaining the place fresh and clean. The employees are always kind, fast, responsive, and have a good memory of their customers. The general manager of this place deserves a special applause. He does a grade job running this place at the 5-star level. Thank you, Sir, for you hard work. Food is always delicious. We always enjoy coming here and I can highly recommend it to Marin guests and residents.

What a delightful experience! I’ve shopped at the market a few times, but this was my first time trying the lunch buffet—and what a treat! The spread was absolutely beautiful, with a wide variety of delicious, thoughtfully prepared dishes. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere was inviting. The open kitchen is a wonderful touch—you can see the chefs in action, and it was clear they care deeply about their craft. They were smiling, engaged, and genuinely attentive to quality. As a picky eater, I’m not easily impressed—but this place exceeded my expectations. I’ll be returning again and again before we leave the Bay Area. Truly a hidden gem. Highly recommended.

What a magical place this was starting with the spacious and colorful Indian decor, water fountain and traditional Indian music. Wait staff were very affable and the choice of dishes were fantastic. Everything on the menu was from local organic farms and reasonably priced. When we ordered our meals I found it strange we weren’t asked how spicy we wanted them but when we took our first few bites we discovered they contained just enough spices not to overwhelm. A place we will be returning to for sure.

Absolutely amazing Indian food. Have been here a couple times for the buffet, but most recently took my girlfriend for her birthday and they made it so special. I quietly mentioned it was her birthday and they brought her some pie. So nice. Highly recommend.

Mexican restaurant
Nestled in a cozy storefront, Betzy’s Tacos is a culinary gem that brings the vibrant flavors of Mexican and Central American cuisine to life. Here, you can indulge in mouthwatering quesabirria and street-style tacos featuring carne asada and al pastor, all served on freshly made corn tortillas. The menu also boasts delightful sopes and picaditas topped with fried beans and queso fresco, alongside refreshing aguas frescas and a unique tamarind cocktail.
The food here is nothing short of amazing! It is one of the best Mexican cuisine I have had. It was really good! Got a super burrito and super quesadilla which was super delicious. Can highly recommend the food here!
Jesper R — Google review
The food was flavorless. Birria tacos had no flavor, no salt and the consume served with it was also lacking flavor. I would describe it as beef broth with onion. No chiles to make the consume red and flavorful. Our super burrito had a weird sweet flavor with no seasoning and we threw it away. I will not return here.
Zack A — Google review
Little family style taco spot food was super solid but al pastor is grill cooked and quesabirria had onions in it which was far from ideal and not anything I've seen previously. Papusasa were good as well but I think the winner were the nachos. Would go back

The best tacos and papusas I’ve ever had! The tortillas are the best and the papusas melt into every bite!! You can eat there but it tastes great even 20’ later. 😋😋😋

New taco place in Westend area, San Rafael. I have tried their veggie taco and al pastor taco and both were yummy. My husband and my kids had carne asada tacos and they liked them a lot, too. The staff was nice. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well. We’ll go back to try more things on the menu! 09/07/23 I went to Betzy’s again to grab dinner for me and my family. I had bean and cheese pupusa and I think it was the best pupusa I’ve ever had. My husband and and kids also loved the quesabirria and papabirria they got.

Don't walk run! Betsy's Taco's is the bomb! I cannot believe how good the food is here. Best taco I've ever had. Carnitas taco was delicious. The tortillas are homemade and soft and delicate. It's the best thing to happen to Marin in a long time. PS- they have Papusas.

Parkside Cafe is a charming, family-owned establishment that offers classic American dishes and features patio seating, a bake shop, and a snack bar. The cafe is open daily from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm for its espresso and pastry bar, while the main dining hours are from 7:30 am to 9:00 pm.
We went to the Parkside Cafe for lunch. We sat outside. There was was a nice breeze, and a green scenery surrounding us. This Cafe exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious. Since we were there at 12 pm, we could still order from both breakfast and lunch menus. For an appetizer we got calamari. They were soft and fresh. For main dish, we had fish tacos with halibut and an egg with a steak. The fish melted in my mouth, that's how fresh, and how properly cooked it was. The steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare). The coffee was also very good. We are definitely coming back! Recommending.

On our visit to Muir Woods National Monuments, we decided to visit Stinson Beach before going home since we've already visited the Muir Beach last time. After the hike at Muir Woods, we were hungry and there's no restaurant near the beach that's opened, there's only this restaurant next to the beach parking lot, so we went in to try it out even though the prices seem a little high but we expected this establishment costs each seat $15 just for a chair. The servers were quite attentive and pleasant. Every table has a little fan to chase away the flies which is quite effective. The menu has quite many dishes for lunch. My wife wanted to be safe to order the Burger and Fries, I always love fish and chips so I ordered that, which later my wife told me that I should order the fish taco. Anyhow, I don't think it matters what we order, the food here isn't meant to be special. The Burger is actually tasteless, no salt, no sauce, no flavor, In-n-Out would taste much better without anything. We share both of our dishes. This is the first time I have to eat burger with ketchup because it's so tasteless. The fish is crispy and moist but also tasteless, the batter has no flavor, the fish has no flavor, without the tartar sauce it's uneatable. Yes, the portions are big, the french fries could be better. Anyhow, we have to try all the restaurants, so at least we know, we should drive 8 miles the other way to In-n-Out for lunch which we would be much happier and less money. While eating the burger, I kept wishing having a five guys burger because I've never had any burger like this.

Food is ok. If you bring your own sauce ;) I appreciate it was fresh, and i would say healthy, especially if they would have more options that are not burgers. I hope seafood is better. I had seafood a few years ago, and it was good, but I do not know if it is the same. Menu is quite confusing. I like the atmosphere and the ease. But i think they could be more welcoming. They had a lot of free tables on weekend eve, I believe they easily could have more customers with the right approach. I think they could ask guests if they would like to sit inside or outside. Cause I am sure some end up skipping the experience because it seems that sitting is not available. Bathroom. They should do something about it, like post motivational sign to keep it tidy as well as place at least simple stand for guests to put phone or whatever they might have in hands. Overal, I like the place. I hope it can get a bit better.

Nice little cafe. The food was good and service fast - had the chop salad, green salad(?), clam chowder and a side of fries. The only downside was that they wouldn’t serve the pizza when you’re sitting down for some reason, it’s only takeaway

On the drive over, my girlfriend and I, both Marin locals, were talking about how much we’ve always loved Parkside and how excited we were to stop in for a couple slices. We even planned on coming back after the beach for dinner and dessert. Unfortunately, the experience we had changed that, and I won’t be doing that now or in the future. At 3:30 pm on a Wednesday, the restaurant was completely empty, not a single person sitting inside. I bought two slices of pizza and tipped the person who rang me up. When I asked to use the restroom so I could wash my hands before eating, I was denied because I “wasn’t sitting down at a table.” Let me be clear: I was a paying customer. That denial is not only inhospitable, it is not legal. Under California Health & Safety Code (§113953 and §114276), restaurants with seating must provide patrons access to restroom and handwashing facilities. I understand that people probably try to use the facilities without buying anything. But that wasn’t the case here. What the interaction communicated was that because I didn’t tip that specific server, I wasn’t allowed to use the restroom, despite having already purchased food and tipped his coworker. Pizza was MID. That’s not hospitality, that’s hostility. We came in as loyal locals and left as disappointed customers. Do better, Parkside.

Came here to buy pastries and coffee. I spilt my coffee on my jacket and wanted to use the toilet to wash it but was denied entry because apparently I was not “dining in” at the restaurant. How ridiculous is that? I was then asked to go use the toilet near the beach. Service when buying the pastries was also not good. Staff kept talking with one another and barely paid attention to you. Never coming back.

Oysters, fish of the day and apple pie desert are delicious! This is what we needed after long hike ☺️ and our waiter was friendly and cute. Thank you!

Got the Fried Cod Tacos and 2 Margaritas from the Snack Shack. The tacos came with corn tortillas which are typically not my go-to, but they were so good that I didn't even mind. The fish was nice and crispy. They could have used a little bit of hot sauce because there was no real spice. The margaritas were good too. The service was fast, fresh, and friendly. The cashier told us exactly where to find clean restrooms too. Eating fish tacos outside, in the sun, on the beach was great.

Restaurant Picco is a hidden gem owned by the talented chef Bruce Hill, who has an impressive resume in the San Francisco culinary scene. The restaurant offers small plates of Cal-Italian cuisine in a cozy brick and redwood setting with a lively bar scene. The menu features dishes made with local, seasonal ingredients, designed to complement the atmosphere of the restaurant.
Excellent service, absolutely stunning atmosphere, and incredible tasting food! The gnocchi & Risotto were especially delicious! Their pizza is also the best in the West, and I highly recommend it as well!

overall A+: Lovely local place, food amazing, service amazing given the busy dog and child-filled scene, sat outside on a sunny Friday evening: halibut ceviche, filet mignon carpaccio, snap peas, kona pineapple jalapeno onion pizza, bourbon and gin cocktails. Daily specials are fantastic; highly recommend.

Excellent food and outstanding service! We had the wood-fired son of yeti pizza which was delicious and the gnocchi which sets a standard for how gnocchi with sausage should be served. Our server, Marcus was on point. His recommendations were spot on and he made us feel right at home. Thanks for a great evening Marcus and the whole staff at Picco!

Wonderful ambiance and very tasty food. The service was pleasant but not top notch as I would expect (pacing was a bit off and a few other minor things). My favorite were the Brussels sprouts, and the chicken sliders. The tuna was also delicious. I would skip the risotto. Fries and calamari were standard fair but I would order them again. Great place for a nice date dinner.

The food and outdoor area were great, and the lady who greeted us was very kind. However, while waiting for our outdoor table, the woman at the counter rushed my friend before knowing the table was ready, which made her decide not to order drinks. When it was my turn, she seemed to decide I should order at the table instead, giving the impression she was in a hurry and not very patient. I ordered the Avocado Bruschetta, but a Yogurt Dip was brought instead. It was a communication error, and the food runner kindly helped clarify. The waiter who took my order later said, “You ordered it, I asked twice, and you confirmed,” with a displeased tone. He apologized afterward, but still seemed rude and rushed. I understand mistakes and tough days happen, and I appreciate their hard work. Still, it was disappointing for our first visit. Wishing you the best. 🙏🏼

The food was fine, but nothing else, unfortunately. They couldn't find our reservation, even though we had a confirmation, so an outside table wasn't available. Pizza is served only to outside tables. Huh? Basically, only small plates/appetizers are vegetarian. Our orders came one plate at a time over about ten minutes, indifferently set down wherever was convenient, wordlessly. Again: huh?

Great apps! Be sure to get the risotto. Really well chosen wine by the glass and some cool half bottles too. The food is always top notch!

Like others said, the servers were kind and attentive. They offered a kid size pasta (penne or spaghetti) with butter/parm or marinara, which wasn’t on the menu. If you like, it can come before the adults meal. It came promptly which was really appreciated. Pork chops is a cozy, tasty dish with good sauce. The chicken sliders were spicy but not too much with a great crunchy batter. The gem salad is bright and refreshing. Loved it accompanying the rest of the meals! The Double 8 soft serve is creamy, but light and so good! Everything was delicious and it was a great experience.

Café Arrivederci is a delightful Italian eatery that embodies the essence of comfort food, making it a perfect spot for those seeking a cozy dining experience. With an extensive wine list to complement its delicious offerings, this charming restaurant features a spacious patio area ideal for enjoying meals al fresco. Guests rave about the fresh ingredients used in their dishes, such as the Insalata Di Barbabietole Con Rucola salad.
Our family party of 13 were gathered from all across the country to remember my wife’s brother and celebrate his life the night before we scattered his ashes on Mt. Tam. We had originally planned to dine at another nearby Italian restaurant, but they didn’t take reservations, so my niece called Cafè Arrivederci and they were able to accommodate. We were so pleased they did. We were seated in a private room and the staff did a perfect job keeping up with us as the dinner progressed without ever seeming to hover or intrude. The cocktails, antipasti, primi, secondi, contorni, dolce, and wine all came at just the right pace to allow us time to reminisce and eat at our own pace without disturbing other diners and without ever feeling pressured or forgotten. In other words, a truly Italian dinner experience. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and although the restaurant has a large and varied menu and our party was made up of people with widely different tastes and preferences, we all agreed that our dishes were well executed. The facility, while not at the high polish of a premier fine dining establishment, was perfectly suited to the menu and exceeded our expectations for the event.

Googled the menu for Cafe Arrivederci San Rafael to place a pickup order and thought the prices looked reasonable online and remembered the food being pretty good. Turns out the prices listed on google for the restaurant are inaccurate, but they must be reeeally old bc both items we ordered actually cost nearly $10 more, which is quite the increase to be a “little outdated.” I only went to their direct website after a lot of confusion trying to figure out why it was so much more than we expected. Then I finally got to the food and was quite surprised. Lol there were a total of 6 tortellini.*** That’s it. That was the entire item that cost $25, almost $10 more than I expected (and more than was posted online, and more even than I would’ve been willing to pay for what I got). The tortellini tasted like ground hamburger and canned pasta sauce, and the tortellini pasta itself was hard (not “al dente;” hard, like stale). Surprisingly disappointing. The bolognese** was not worth the cost either. The tiramisu wasn’t bad, but it’s hard to ruin tiramisu. There were chocolate chunks in it, tho, which was weird and unnecessary, but oh well. The staff were super sweet, tho! (**eta that the bolognese ended up being so bad we couldn’t finish it and had to get something elsewhere) (***eta #2 bc I just realized the menu claims tortellini includes prosciutto and peas: there was not a single pea or piece of prosciutto and not a hint of those flavors in the order lmao)

Went ar Arrivederci at around 3 pm on Sunday. Not that busy. We got seated and got our drinks right away. We ordered Gnocchi and Risotto con brasatto. We also got a complimentary focaccia bread with garlic/herbs olive oil dipping. The Gnocchi was very creamy and has rich flavor. The Risotto was creamy and the 2 piece of beef short ribs were tender and juicy. The portion is a bit on a small side and a bit pricey ($28 each). I gave 4 star because the server was not attentive.

Went to this restaurant at lunch for the first time under new management with my husband. We both loved the food. We were sharing Pappardelle Con Funghi (Wide ribbon pasta, roasted mixed mushrooms, white wine, Calabrian chilies, arugula, pecorino) and Melanzane Alla Parmigiana (Breaded eggplant, mozzarella, parmigiana, marinara) and they were delicious! The restaurant had a good vibe. The staff was nice and friendly. We’ll be back again!

This place is definitely not ready to be fully open. Service is super slow and when food came, they came all together from appetizers to main dish. It took me a long time to get a server to ask about dessert menu. The most disappointing thing is garlic bread- you barely taste the garlic flavor, this is the worst garlic bread of all the restaurants we’ve been in Bay Area. We were very unhappy with this visit and won’t be back again!

We ordered scallops and shrimp pasta. The scallops were undercooked which made the pasta taste like seawater.

The restaurant prides itself on honoring farmers and artisans who provide high-quality produce. Loved this experience. The drew down the shade on the patio and the table was in a private area that still had a beycool breeze. The service was fantastic, constantly topping up the ice water and the food was unique and delicious. Honestly couldn't ask for more 🤍
Julia C — Google review
The food was very good. Super appetizers (we had avocado “hummus” and chicken mousse, plus “crudites”), juicy chicken. However the prices are outrageous. You pay for bread ($7), and as one extra profiterole was added for the table as we were celebrating a birthday- add $3. Nothing is gifted. Side dishes: add to the already high price. Plus almost too attentive service, replenishing wine glasses even when not requested, so we could order more! The decor is nothing to write home about.
D C — Google review
I don’t fully get why this isn’t rated higher. Perhaps the price? Because the food is lovely—very fresh, high-quality ingredients, and great flavour combinations. We had the avocado hummus and the California tomato pizza. Both excellent! Amazing leopard spotting on the pizza, and a lovely fresh tomato sauce. Service was good, too, really friendly staff and our food came out very fast. Slightly pricy, but worth it.

Seriously a hidden gem at a suburban mall with fresh farm to table food. We shared several dishes and one was better than the next. The sticky bun and smoked salmon were standouts. There was a farmers market going on right outside the restaurant which fit in perfectly with the theme. Fantastic stop leaving from SF and headed out for wine tasting.

Just steps off the San Francisco ferry, Farmshop is the perfect reward for a trip across the bay. Located in the Marin Country Mart in Larkspur, it blends that easy California vibe with polished, farm-to-table dining and a little splash of city sophistication. The menu changes with the seasons, but everything feels vibrant and thoughtful. The smoked salmon was especially memorable — fresh, layered with flavor, and beautifully plated. Cocktails are top-notch, and the service matches — friendly, attentive, and effortless. Grab a seat on the patio if you can — it’s perfect for people-watching and soaking up the Marin sunshine. A great spot to shop, sip, and linger.

Food is okay. Its not mind blowing but still good. The drinks however are the shining star. I tried a few and every one of them were excellent. I also applaud the bread. The restaurant is very warm because they have a pizza oven on the inside. If you get warm easily, sit outside.

Cool space. Visually very cool! And nice layout. Food was solid. Recommend the oysters, and pizza. Chicken rice dish was solid, but not great. Kombucha was cool, but not mind blowing. A bit pricey for the portions. Loved the host; she was able to help me with a table last minute with no res. Thank you!!!! Server was solid; team service in some ways. Bar with food service, cool open kitchen, and plenty of tables. Private room for events and an amazing covered patio!

New American restaurant
Bungalow 44 is an urban-style upscale American eatery located in downtown Mill Valley, offering a bustling bar scene and a superb location for a night out. The restaurant provides an upscale yet casual atmosphere where patrons can enjoy hand-crafted dishes such as little gems salad, hamachi, mac & cheese with bacon, caramelized onions and truffle oil, petrale sole, and decadent sticky toffee cake.
My friends live in Mill Valley and couldn’t have chosen a better spot for dinner than Bungalow 44. We sat indoors as outdoors was full and had a great time. From the cocktails 🍹 to $1 oysters 🦪 to the hamachi poppers to fish to the flatbread to the dessert everything was delicious. Our server was really nice too, I didn’t catch his name but when I mentioned I’m from Thailand he spoke to me in Thai which was cool! Would definitely go back to Bungalow and recommend it to anyone looking for a nicer spot for dinner in Mill Valley.

I had not been here for many years but will now certainly add it to my favorites. The cooking is absolutely first rate. Someone in the kitchen really knows what they are doing. Professional service too. The gazpacho was unique and awesome. Salmon perfectly soft and warm inside. Barramundi nice and crispy. One quibble: the menu justifies a 4% service fee because of "record inflation". The average 3% inflation over the past five years is hardly a record compared to the 13% levels seen around 1980. The tariffs and deficits may get us to record territory some day, but we are not there now. It would be sufficient to say there is a service fee to better pay staff.

Loved my experience at Bungalow 44 in Mill Valley! The steak frites was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I also had a spicy margarita that was bold, refreshing, and just the right amount of heat. The service was fantastic—super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The tropical-inspired ambiance made the whole place feel fun and relaxing. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to!

We went to bungalow 44 this past weekend and we’re not disappointed! We started off with the hamachi poppers and steak tartare. Both were delicious and a perfect start to the meal. Paired with the starters was an old-fashioned cocktail - very well made. Next, we ordered a few dishes to go with our entrée, we enjoyed the cornbread, the corn ribs, and the gnocchi. The corn ribs were by far the stand out with a fun presentation and delicious sauce. For our entrée, we ordered the pork chop. It came with delicious sides, including polenta and peaches. Unfortunately the pork chop was a little overcooked although they were super busy, so I’m sure the kitchen had a lot going on.
Patrick D — Google review
Decided to try Bungalow 44 based on a recommendation, and I’m sure glad we did. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, warm hospitality, and great food. Started off with Hamachi Peppers, which were absolutely bonkers—so tasty! The steak tartare was good, as were the Corn Ribs, quite innovative with a nice sauce and a twist on the usual way of eating corn. Short ribs as a main, with mushroom risotto substituted for mash, were astonishing. Perfectly salted with lots of flavor. The fried chicken was okay. I’ve never understood the concept that well, as the meat is usually quite dry and all the taste is pretty much in the crust. Easy 5/5

Dinned at Bungalow 44 with some friends, and they consider this place one of their favorites in the area. It's my favorite now too! Food is absolutely exceptional and the atmosphere is fabulous. Coming back this weekend again with a party of 12 to celebrate couple of birthdays. Looking forward to another delicious meal!

Food was amazing, ambiance great, service unfortunately pretty bad!! I came in there this Saturday 10/18, my fiance and I got engaged that morning overseeing the sunrise on Golden Gate. We didn't plan anything for dinner and were walk ins Saturday. Our server was a lady probably in her 50's or 60's. Food was incredible, but unfortunately she sucked!! She barely came by, food took forever, she came by and asked how the food was after we were done. Had to flag down another server to get our bill. I waited tables for over 8 years through high school/college, I find it unacceptable to not even ask a guest if they have been there. She didn't go over anything on the menu, I was excited to tell her we got engaged, but she didn't even acknowledge us or ask a single question to even get to that conversation. Food was amazing, but servers like her ruin an amazing experience.

This review is many years too late. Pre-covid. Wife and I stopped in without a reservation on a weekday. I noticed an empty table in front of the fireplace and asked about that table. The server said it has been reserved for 7:30pm. It was 6pm and I told him that we will not have dessert, just an appetizer and entree and leave; and that you can pace us to make sure we are done after 1:15 hours. Done! Had great service, the food was great, and I still think about that experience often. Sorry for being so late with the review!

Overall, the food is delicious and the staff are nice but service, in terms of being able to order or get the bill, has been a hit or miss. More often than not, it seems like the servers are assigned too many tables so it takes a while to order, get food or drinks, get refills, or even pay the check. I feel like if they added one or two more servers per shift, it would alleviate the workload on servers who can then be attentive to their tables.

Rustic Bakery is a popular bakery with four locations, known for its health-conscious baked goods and light fare. The flagship store at Marin Country Mart gained fame for its outstanding flatbread crackers, croissants, and baguettes. The menu includes sandwiches like rare roast beef with cambozola and the Asian chicken salad. The bakery offers a variety of pastries made on-site using organic, seasonal ingredients. It can get busy on weekends, so ordering ahead is recommended.
Rustic Bakery gets pretty busy during farmer's market days. Luckily we found seats outside by the bike rack. It is the type of restaurant where you order at the counter and they give you a number to put on your table. We ordered a couple of sandwiches, a Caesar salad and some pastries. Everything tasted OK. Nothing stood out as extraordinary.

I have been a longtime fan of Rustic Bakery. The chicken sriracha sandwich is my absolute favorite! Beware, weekends can be very busy so ordering ahead is always a good option. Their pastries are fantastic but can sell out quickly on a weekend morning. There is both inside and outside dining so you can sit and enjoy your food. Service was very good, very attentive. Ordered the Carnitas Dinner Plate. Big basket of warm, light, crispy and delicious tortilla chips. The verde/roja salsas were flavorful and delicious. The atmosphere is nice, very high ceilings, dark, lots of finished wood. This would be a great place to take a date. The carnitas is served on a bed of black beans and served with onion and cotija cheese on top. The quality of the ingredients is very good. My only gripe with the meal is the carnitas should have been seasoned better, it was on the bland side. The service really stood out. I will definitely come back here, though I would try something different on the menu. Highly recommend Marinitas.

Quite nice however; Super burrito: only 1 shrimp Super burrito: very little chicken.. We asked for pinto beans ONLY n we got, pinto and black beans.. Guacamole was great! In house tortilla chips were AWESOME. To go chips were not the same, they were thick n dangerous to bite, ) felt like we were gunna break a tooth 🤷🏼‍♀️ They also forgot salad dressing and eating utensils for salmon salad.. However, the salmon was great..

I got the tacos de pescado, my husband got the carne asada tacos and we swapped 1 each for “surf n turf”. At first I was skeptical if I would still be hungry after 2 tacos, but the portions were filling. Everything from the salsa, to the fish, to the margaritas was extremely fresh. The carne asada was probably the most tender and flavorful I’ve ever had. Our server was so helpful and attentive even with our many substitutes (I don’t like dairy and my husband doesn’t like onions, so we always get them on the side when we share). The ambiance was very welcoming and fun. 5/5 would recommend and return.

Food was tasty and the server was pretty accommodating to our group of 9 requesting 3 checks on a moderate weeknight evening. The margaritas were too sweet and very weak, which was the only real issue I had. Otherwise a solid experience.

We have been going to Marinitas for years! The last two times we have ordered take out have not been good! Last night we ordered Chicken tacos and rice and beans. All tasteless! The chicken was supposed to be breast of chicken was mainly dark meat and even simple black beans and green rice was different! The wonderful chips they always had way too salty! Not sure what is going on but we will be staying away for now! We hope things can turn around because it has always been one of our favorite take out spots!!!

After a nice 4 mile hike to Cataract Falls in Marin, I was hoping for a decent Mexican restaurant. I had low expectations since this is Marin, but I was wrong! Marinitas is the best Mexican Restaurant I’ve been to in 8 months. And far better than any in San Francisco as far as atmosphere, food and service. Marinitas is no hole in the wall and that was great! The interior is beautiful and clean. Lots of Mexican art. The chips and guacamole was excellent. They make their own chips and guacamole. They clearly changed the oil they used to make the chips as it did not taste rancid from old oil. The guacamole was so delicious. They made it fresh and had nice big chunks of avocado. The Chicken Enchilada’s were the best I’ve ever had. Perfect in fact. They come baked in a nice ceramic bowl with lots of cheese and a tasty sauce. Enchiladas were invented by the Mayans so it was nice eating an ancient food taken seriously by this restaurant. I also had a Miraval Rose Prosecco recommended by our waitress who didn’t mind that asked for 2 additional baskets of tortilla chips. The Rose was one of the best I’ve had and I a picky about Prosecco, Champagne, and Sparkling Wines! The glass was filled to the top which most places do not do. The service was excellent. I just wish that the restaurant had a sign that brought attention to it as it was just across the main area for food and shopping on a busy street. The last excellent Mexican Restaurant I’ve been to was in Sacramento, downtown called Zacalo Restaurant Midtown. It’s sad that San Francisco which has a 25% Latino population has very few good restaurants outside the Mission, and none that are beautiful and clean as Marinitas.

The Melting Pot is a fondue restaurant chain that offers heated pots of cheese, chocolate or broth for dipping and cooking. It has a variety of dishes on the menu, including vegetarian and vegan options, as well as meat choices. The restaurant is expensive, but is definitely worth checking out if you're looking for some delicious fondue action!
Amazing place! Would've been nicer to have a bigger table with more pots. We had a party of 8, and 2 pots. So it was a little crowded with 2 pots! Plus would be nice to have more than just the 2 options with flavors! Otherwise, it was great, food and dessert was delicious, ambience was nice!

Had a great anniversary celebration with by boyfriend. The service was spot on, the waitress was great at explaining everything we were eating. We were seated at a very intimate location of the restaurant. It isn't there first time we've gone to this location and it isn't the only location we've been to, and we both still love coming here. It is a great time to just spend with the people around you. There isn't any distractions, it is just you, the food and the company. If you haven't been here yet, I highly recommend trying it at least once. There are also options for larger party reservations, however I think this experience works better with two people.

Came here today to celebrate my friends birthday. It was a really nice visit. The ambiance was great very chill and relaxed it's kinda dark inside but it's part of the atmosphere. I got the French martini for my drink. Very good citrus flavor a bit strong for me. But could be different for others. For starters we got the bacon cheddar cheese. Which came with assorted bread cut into bite size pieces. Then some vegetables and apples to dip in the cheese. The flavors were pretty average. It's literally dipping bread into some bacon cheese. The vegetable didnt mix well with the cheddar which made it taste really bitter. Apple dipped in cheddar was interesting. Salty and sweet, with that apple crunch texture. For the entre' I had the cajun chicken and shrimp. Potstickers and andoullie sausage. Cooked in their Mojo base. Again the flavors were average. It was good it's pretty much like a hot pot if you've ever been to one. You cook the food your self so whatever you do to the food is what you get. The seasoning in the soup base and how they seasoned the raw meat was well done. I can really taste the spiciness in the chicken and the shrimp. Out of all the four entre' I got the shrimp was the best. Moving on to desert. I forgot what it was called but it was the banana with dulce de leche. This was a really good dessert. It came with cookie chunk, brownie, pound cake, pineapple, banana, strawberry, waffle, rice crispy, and marshmallow. All of these dipped in that dulce de leche hot pot. It was very sweet and delicious. From the looks of it, it was made with condensed milk and some dark caramel sauce sprinkled with cinnamon. (Some other stuff I'm not familiar with) overall a good way to end the dinner. Lastly the service. Our servers name was Nicholas, We were at table 27. Really have to complaint about the service. The pace of the dinner was a bit slow for me. But it wasn't like a bad thing. We got there at 7. Didn't get seated until 20 min. Later. They seemed really busy. Plus one of the servers dropped a whole bunch of dishes and broke all of them. When we got seated we were greeted by our server Nicholas. Excellent service and did great on the food presentation. Water was served when asked. I'm guessing he kinda just forgot. He got my martini though Haha so were good. Excellent dessert presentation. Prompt service, overall good service. :D I dont know whether the place is good for the buck. As money is something I dont put alot of value in. I'm there for the experience and not measure how much I had to spend. Overall the food was good / average the service was better. Probably a good place to just hang out and chill with friends. They have good bite size portions and good drinks.

Everything was amazing. I had the spinach-artichoke cheese fondue, the California salad, the lobster, shrimp, pork, chicken and filet mignon dinner with the yin-yang dark and white chocolate as the grand finale with a love martini to enhance the meal. Juan Carlos was the best server in the bay area! Don't worry about the price, it's 4 courses. Enjoy!!

My husband and I come here every year in our wedding anniversary. It's our special celebration! I LOVE the Melting Pot! It's fun and tasty! Great experience in Larkspur! Ambiance was excellent, food was small portions but pack full of flavor. I would honestly recommend for the chocolate fondue alone. Most of the drinks are fantastic. If I could I would deduct half a star for the music being played...

Valentines dinner was $240 for two (20% required gratuity included). The experience is unique but it wasn’t an Uber fine dining experience for the Uber fine dining price. First we had shrimp cocktail which was excellent. Then cheese fondu with assortment of bread, apples, cake, and more to dip in the cheese. For the main course, we chose to cast iron grill our food so they brought a plate of raw steak, pork, chicken, and lobster that we got to place on the grill and cook ourselves. It tasted very good. The last portion was chocolate fondu where they bring in an assortment of strawberries and other fruit and cake to dip in the chocolate. We had a great time but I will never eat here again for the price. I can think of Much better tasting fine dining experiences in town for less than $50/person.

Good food, huge portions! I had a salad that I could only eat half of and my mom.had the largest slice of pesto pizza I've ever seen! The young gentleman who served us was attentive and kind. Would eat here again if I could! (Here on vacay from the east coast)

My friend and I drove to San Rafael/Marin all the way from Antioch Ca /1hr drive each way. We heard that this is the spot to eat some tasty pizza and what not. The menu is simple yet caters to many different appetites. You will not be disappointed when you get there and eat for yourself. The staff was very courteous and the bathrooms were spotless… that means a lot! Because I am picky. The owners are sweet! It was definitely worth the drive. The atmosphere is super relaxing and plenty of parking.

I am so incredibly happy with Mulberry Pizza as Bill and his team totally came through for a last-minute order for a corporate luncheon. I really appreciate how easy they were to work with. Plus, the food was excellent! They have a wide variety of choices which makes it so much easier when trying to feed a group of people. I also very much appreciate how they offer gluten-free pizza options! Thank you so much to Bill for helping my team and I out and I look forward to many future orders from Mulberry Pizza!

That Love of Mushroom pizza should be illegal, it's so damn good! Great pizzas are what they do right here, the staff is attentive and quick, but y'all gotta jazz up the bathrooms. While clean and sanitary, they have zero attention paid to style. Your bathroom says a lot about your establishment, and attention to detail throughout is key. Not enough to stop me from loving this place, I just don't like to be depressed when using the lavatory...

"There is no bad pizza" I always say, "just great pizza and pizza". This came close to being bad pizza. Ordered a 1/2&1/2. Weird crust, too much bleu cheese, huge chunky Jalapeños without any spice. Now I like Bleu cheese but Wow! 🥴 The salad was good, great staff and atmosphere. Way overpriced too.

Burmatown in Corte Madera offers a warm and casual dining experience with traditional Burmese stir-fries, noodles, and Asian fusion dishes. The restaurant is known for its big flavors and popular meatless tea leaf salad, bao tacos veggie option, and vegetarian curry samosas. Chef Jenny's fresh takes on classic dishes are a hit among visitors. The menu is diverse and reasonably priced, catering to different preferences. The ambiance is comfortable yet stylish, complemented by excellent service.
Staff was very friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was good, with enough outdoor seating to not overwhelm the staff. Food was outstanding! All the items we ordered were delicious with great flavors. Everything seen going to other tables, looked and smelled as good as anything we tried. Make reservations if you're going to show up after 5, they fill up fast and stay busy.

Thai basil stir-fry was pretty good. I got the vegan option with rice and the sauce was delicious! Only thought is in my opinion there were too many green beans compared to the rest of the vegetables. Next time I would ask to add tofu and more vegetables. The tea leaf salad was outstanding - would 100% order again! Very cute space and vibe! Staff was very friendly and attentive. There was a bit of a wait but even though they were busy we got a table pretty fast overall. Plenty of parking!

I always enjoy Burmese food. I will say the food was all decent but I was left disappointed in a few dishes. The restaurant was cute but gets very busy just as a heads up. Likes : 1. The bbq meat with rhe garlic noodles (on the sweeter side which I enjoy) 2. Thai iced tea is always so good 3. Coconut rice 😍 Not thrilled on: 1. The pork curry tasted like it was lacking flavor, as if someone forgot to add salt. The meat itself was cooked to perfection. Overall dissapointed in the flavor. 2. The tea left salad also seemed a little lack luster. I thought it needed something more. Recommendations: 1. Make a reservation. 2. Don't come if you are hard of hearing, it gets very busy and can be loud and hard to hear.

Our first time here. Came for lunch on a Thursday, and we were completely blown away. The food is delicious, the portions are HUGE, ane the service is excellent. We had Jalapeno Shrimp Chow Fun and Coconut Chicken Curry with Squash, with Coconut Rice. Both dishes were superb. This $38.50 lunch order (before tax and tip) would have fed 4 people very easily. The two of us not only took a whole meal’s worth of leftovers home, we also ordered two more curries to go (Braised Burmese Pork Curry and one more order of the chicken curry). They were unusually busy that day, but the service was still excellent. We will be back many, many times, for sure! The photograph shows our leftovers after 2 people had eaten their fill!

My husband and I decided to try out Vin Antico’s Thanksgiving menu this year. It was the best decision, we avoided the crowds at the supermarket, hours of cooking and virtually no clean up. Having never been to this restaurant before it was a bit of a gamble but we were reassured by all the great reviews. The experience turned out to be better than expected! The staff was so friendly and helpful, we picked the meal up the day before all in ready to heat packaging with clear instructions. I happened to stumble across this restaurant while in the area and they did not disappoint! The flavors are wonderful, I have yet to try any type of Indian fusion until then and now I can't stop thinking about it. I had the Smoked Eggplant Punjabi Burrito and the Mustard Green Spinach Tofu Punjabi Burrito. The lentil soup was also quite good, however for $10 a cup I'll pass next time.

Whenever a friend comes to visit, I recommend Avatar’s Punjabi Burritos! Great options for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free (if you get a rice plate). The chutney is delicious too! I often go for a burrito with curried veggie & curried pumpkin but opted for a rice plate with curried veggie & smoked eggplant this time- new favorite! Beautiful presentation & balance of flavors. Saru, who runs this location, is also so friendly and welcoming! I plan to keep coming back here and recommending to friends. Head’s up: you’ll need cash or venmo to pay. Also the restaurant is tiny so I usually order to go and take food on a hike/picnic. There are 2 tables inside and 1 outside.

I really loved this place. I got the lamb rice bowl that had a variety of flavors that complimented each other incredibly. Of course the mango lassi and chai tea we got hit the spot, but The Dream was an amazing end to the meal and the best dessert I've ever had. I already know I have to get more before I leave town. Definitely recommend!

Gaspare's Pizzeria Ristorante is a warm and inviting Italian eatery, run by a close-knit family. They specialize in delightful pizzas, pastas, and sandwiches, alongside their homemade cheesecake. As someone who holds Italian cuisine in high regard, I have found Gaspare's to meet my expectations on multiple occasions. Whether dining in or ordering takeout, their dishes have consistently impressed me with their freshness and unique flavors.
All dishes here were great. Appetizer = calamari. My husband had penne vodka and I had the chicken piccata. (Need to make a disclaimer- my spaghetti has no red sauce on it because that's what I requested.) For dessert we had chocolate mousse and tiramisu. Can't really go wrong here.
Stephanie S — Google review
The atmosphere is great, like a traditional Italian restaurant — but if you're sensitive about food quality, you may want to skip it. The clam pasta was excellent, but most other dishes were disappointing. Full review: This place looks like a classic, traditional Italian restaurant, with a great atmosphere that feels like you're dining somewhere in Italy. However, if you're sensitive to food quality or freshness, I’d be cautious. The baguette they served at the beginning tasted like it was just about to go bad — hard, chewy, and with a slightly off flavor. The tomato basil soup had a musty smell, and I started to wonder if some of the other ingredients were old and just covered up with sauce. It made me lose my appetite. The pizza also lacked flavor and felt bland. On the bright side, the white sauce clam pasta was amazing. It seemed to be their signature dish, and I noticed many people around us ordered it too. That dish — and the charming interior — are the reasons I’m still giving this place 3 stars.
Daniel — Google review
Ordered on Uber eats for the first time so I can’t attest to the service/atmosphere but I got the meatball sandwich on focaccia, side ceasar, and the thai chili wings. Sandwhich is huge but lacking some flavor, focaccia seems fresh, tastes like pizza dough, pretty tasty. Wings are a bit small but cooked well, Thai chilli sauce seems like the standard Thai restaurant sauce. Finally, Caesar salad is good, the dressing is certainly homemade and I love the croutons. Simple yet tasty food, will be back to try other things for sure.

My favorite dish is the seafood risotto- so creamy with all of the seafood you would crave! Happy hour is a dollar off alcoholic drinks. Calamari fritti is perfectly fried. Chocolate mousse is always delicious. We'll definitely come back to hang out with friends after the pandemic is over! October 2023: Stopped by for lunch and shared the Bangkok street noodles and the avocado salad. It's been probably 12 years since I ate here last. Back then, the restaurant was often very crowded. By far the best Thai food in the area! Very authentic flavors. Quality ingredients are used. The bamboo in the Par Kee Mow is a nice touch. Beef salad is super good! Borderline 3 star, but the food is nice enough with good service and pleasant atmosphere. No real wow factor to the dishes, but most were tasty and enjoyable. The price is a bit steep for what it is, and disappointed by the chicken dish as the chicken itself didn't seem to be of high quality. Flavors were good, but the chicken meat was not great. To some extent the same for the Mongolian beef. Tasty but the beef was a bit tough, but better than the chicken.

The pad Thai was bad. Too much tomato, and it’s missing something. I dont know what. Quite flavorless. I am so sad. The food was so expensive, I expected it to be good.

Ordered the fried tilapia and I have now encountered my favorite dish!! Perfectly crispy and spicy with soft jasmine rice on the side to accompany each bite. Haven’t been here in years and I’m so glad it has been able to withstand the pandemic and still the BEST Thai restaurant in Marin!! Delicious, 5 stars.

Truly some of the tastiest Thai food I’ve ever had. Every dish is rich with flavor. We ordered the red curry with chicken, Thai basil with tofu, and pad Thai with shrimp. Would easily recommend any of them, but the red curry was definitely the stand out! Highly recommend as my top Thai place in Marin. The staff is also incredibly attentive and friendly

Mexican restaurant
Celia's Mexican Restaurant is a beloved gem in San Rafael, known for its vibrant atmosphere and authentic home-style Mexican cuisine. As you enter, you're enveloped by colorful decor and the enticing scents of freshly prepared dishes. The extensive menu features traditional favorites like enchiladas, alongside burgers and refreshing cocktails, ensuring there's something for everyone. With daily-made salsa and guacamole that highlight their commitment to quality ingredients, Celia's stands out as a health-conscious dining option.
I've loved this place since I was a kid in the early 70s. Yes, you can find "better" Mexican food in San Rafael but this is comfort food for me. It's delicious and consistent and exactly what you want it to be every time you go. The service has always been outstanding, friendly, courteous and prompt. And always a fair deal for hearty portions on super hot plates :)
Geoff G — Google review
So, I've eaten here a few times and the food just keeps getting worse. I'm just going to focus on the guacamole, because if that's bad you know everything else will be terrible. I attached a picture. First of all it was off color. Like it had been left out for a long time. I knew something was wrong immediately. It had some sort of aftertaste indicating there was a preservative in it. Absolutely awful and the food was no better. I know there's not too many options for Mexican food in Marin, but do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

This is the best, authentic Mexican food I've had in a long time. The atmosphere is very homey and feels authentic to a Mexican dining experience. The chile verde enchiladas or delicious They refried beans and rice are amazing. The loco was delicious and so was the spicy bloody Mary.

Service was good but slow, priced well, atmosphere was little dark, food was fast to arrive, older place but still good enough for me to return . Vegi Burrito with red salsa.. was little taste, with a nice blend of slasa..

Drinks are consistently good, service is very good.. hence the two stars..food quality is not what it used to be.I used to get the seafood salad.Stopped ordering this dish when they switched to imitation "krab"..I switched to something easy, two cheese enchiladas. It seems they changed the cheese..it was clumby, even though the plate was super hot.. chips were stale..I ordered a side of guacamole that was dark in color...not fresh,or perhaps they switched to a container type..we find ourselves coming less often...after tonight, I'm not sure we'll be back...patrons for forty years...sad...

Paid $20 for maybe the worst burrito i've ever had. It consisted mostly of what tasted like canned refried beans and some cheese, it had maybe one small spoonful of chicken. I would not eat here if I were you

Lovely establishment. Great enchilada & sauce but worst Chili relleno I've ever had! Egg "patty" with some (canned) diced green chili smothered in cheese topped with sauce and capers. Capers? Really?

My Thai Restaurant, a casual establishment offering a range of house specialties and traditional Thai dishes, including vegetarian options, provides a delightful dining experience. In February 2022, visitors enjoyed the flavorsome Thai salad and healthy bowl for lunch. The dressing on the salad was particularly delicious, complementing the assortment of vegetables and grilled chicken perfectly. The healthy bowl featured succulent grilled salmon combined with leafy greens and grains.
Awesome lunch in MyThai! The service was quick and server is very nice. We ordered Pad Thai, Tom Yum with Seafood, catfish with beans, papaya salad and barbeque chicken. Tom Yum Soup tastes very well! Papaya salad had a very nice kick of its lime and chilies. Every dish accentuates itself. I will definitely eat here again!

Excellent Thai with some distinctive dishes, good meats and perfectly cooked vegetables. They have a truly excellent sticky rice and mango! But what makes it green?

The worst service I have had in any restaurant I have eaten at . Once we received our food we never saw our waitress again and the restaurant was not busy. She never came by once to see if we needed anything. I had to go to the front desk to ask for our bill , after waiting 15 minutes I had to return to the front desk to pay the bill . When my wife and I go out to dine we are always respectful and polite to our servers because we know how hard they work. The service was so bad I felt I needed to write this review

Delicious but pricey. The service was great, very helpful staff. Food was decent. We had the fish which came with a delicious sauce, pad thai which was soggy and lacking taste, pineapple fried rice which was okay, mix veg which was fine, the duck curry which was really good, and for dessert, the mango sticky rice. Dessert was decent as well. Overall pretty tasty thai food, but it is pricey at $40 per person.

Amici's East Coast Pizzeria is a family-style pizza chain with thin-crust NY-style pies and gluten-free options. The food is great, the staff friendly, and I would definitely visit again!
Had an incredible Detroit Style pizza here called SMOG (initials for Sausage, Mushroom, caramelized Onions, and Green peppers). Perfect crust on the sides, soft light dough. Good size - brought home leftovers and they warm up very well on an air fryer (6 minutes at 370 F).

Going to be honest, though ive always liked Amicis enough to come back every now and then i havent always been impressed with the food quality. But i just came back from dinner and happy to report i was pleasantly surprised about our experience and food today. I discovered their garlic bread today and it was amazing. In the past some of their pastas didn’t feel as freshly made as they could but today they completely hit the mark. Keep it up and i may start coming back slightly more often! Great and friendly service today by the way! Thank you.

I frequent the Amici’s Pizzeria in Vacaville, CA. Luv the pizza. Their thin crust, oven flamed fired pizza is so good. So when I was in San Rafael for the night and realized there was an Amici’s close by, I definitely made it a point to order a pizza. I called in an order for pickup. I ordered my favorite… pepperoni pizza. It was delicious. Plus the customer service was fantastic. The pizza is baked in an open flame pizza oven. The pizza from this Amici’s had a thin crust; it was light with a soft chew. The pizza was beautifully lightly blistered. The pepperoni is so good, great quality and taste. The pepperoni curled up into little cup shapes with crisp edges. They use quality mozzarella as well. Overall just a darn good pizza. The customer service is great. Everyone I spoke to was kind, outgoing, and helpful. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, as are most of the downtown eateries. Another thing to note is the parking situation; there are metered street parking and a paid city lot around the corner down a block on C and 5th Street.

Never ordering from here again! I placed an order on DoorDash for lemon wings and ranch sauce. They have forgotten my sauce twice before. So I nicely called and reminded them to please make sure it has the sauce this time. They assured me it would. I was in complete disbelief to find out that when it was delivered it didn’t have the sauce or lemon it’s supposed to come with. I call to complain and they had the nerve to try and blame it on the door dasher!! It’s not possible it was the dasher because the bag was sealed shut. So they sealed it without the sauce once again! They then had the audacity to offer me a credit for the sauce on my next order and that’s it! Nobody wants dry unflavored wings. They are useless to me! I’m livid and they for sure lost a regular customer. Don’t order online from them because they mess up all the time! They mess up my coworkers orders as well. Awful customer service.

July 2023: We went out for lunch with my Father and enjoyed a veggie pizza 🍕 and the hot grilled broccoli. In the past decade, I've always eaten at the two Amici's in San Francisco (Lombard Street and King Street were my go to places). Really like the sauce on Amici's pizza! 👍 Unfortunately, the King Street closed due to the pandemic ☹️. But glad I found the one in San Rafael! The hot broccoli 🥦 was cooked perfectly. Love the garlic and lemon with red chili flakes. Pizza was loaded with ingredients and the crust was nice and crispy. Service was very friendly and attentive. Thank you for a great lunch!

If you're on the hunt for a delightful dining experience, Yet Wah Restaurant is a must-visit destination. This charming Chinese eatery offers an extensive menu filled with classic dishes that cater to every palate, whether you choose to dine in or opt for takeout. One of the standout features of Yet Wah is its late-night service; it's one of the few spots in Marin where you can enjoy dinner after 9 PM.
This restaurant is amazing. Great food for a great price. Such a sweet little gem in the heart of San Rafael.

I had a major craving for hot and sour soup so I picked some up at Yet Wah since they're open later than most other places. It was the most disappointing hot and sour soup I have ever had. The soup was bland, it lacked that signatire tang that you expect from this dish. There were long slices of yellow onion in it that were crunchy and nearly raw. Most shocking were the tiny shrimp in it, they're like the shrimp that come in a Cup of Noodle. The texture tells me they were previously dried and they tasted like fish food. Not even Panda Express would try to pass that off onto their customers. This is clear proof that they don't care and they don't know how to cook. I will never eat there again and I urge you to stay away as well.

Nice people with fantastic service. I got the hot and sour soup, and it’s so good! Very spicy, it’s perfect! I got it Togo and didn’t open the soup for about 40 minutes after receiving it, and it was somehow still steaming hot. I will be enjoying their dining area next time, it’s dim lit inside and very pretty.

Amazing staff- friendly, helpful, polite- had the opportunity to meet the owner- a true gentleman. The food is unreal- best I’ve had in the area- from the appetizers to the entrees everything is healthy, flavorful, and well -balanced- the desserts are the perfect ending to an evening of good food- the portion sizes are by far superior to any other restaurant I’ve been to in the area- and all at a good price! The atmosphere is clean and inviting, with perfect lighting and ambiance- perfect for a family night out or a date night!

GREAT special occasion venue for small group!Comfortable semi-private Sunday lunch of 13 people, tables are partitioned off from the main restaurant area.  Owner Simon was very helpful multiple times by phone regarding menu choices ("How spicy is it? What are the 'tender greens'?") and table arrangements (we chose 2 round tables with 'lazy Susan' servers, but could have used one large oval table if desired).  Simon welcomed us to arrive early to decorate.  I super appreciated being able to discuss questions since we live far away.  Everyone thought the food was delicious. Princess Garden Chicken Salad, Steak Cubed with Tender Greens (we chose bok choy), Sweet & Sour Pork, Peking Duck with Buns, Glazed Walnut Prawns, Spinach with Garlic Sauce, Ice Cream. The "glazed walnut prawns" were fried crispy and not covered with white sauce. We actually liked them this way, but if you want yours more sticky, you could ask.  Also, the Peking Duck was cut and not all of the breast pieces were separated from bone.  If you want all the breast pieces to be boneless so it is simpler to lay the meat on the steamed bun, you should request that.  We would gladly plan another gathering at Yet Wah.

Very cool place to see a show. Intimate, great sound, etc. A little understaffed as far as food and drink service goes, but they work hard to keep things moving. I know margins for these kind of places are slim, so it's understandable that they have to run with a bare minimum. Food is really good!

Marche is my family’s favorite restaurant in Marin - we come here for all of our special events, and it never disappoints. The food is absolutely delicious every time, and is only out matched by the kind and attentive staff! The ambiance is unique - elevated but cozy, with a beautiful patio and blankets if you get cold! Truly this place delivers from start to finish, and has for over a decade. If you’re thinking of coming here for a special night, or to make an ordinary night special, I highly recommend you do!!
Tal A — Google review
The worst for us was the service, it was so slow. We stayed at the restaurant for probably 2h/2:30h, and it wasn’t because we had trouble deciding what to order, and the chair seat outside it’s a little uncomfortable. The desert it was a flourless chocolate cake, but it seemed more like a brownie. The steak was the best of the night, perfectly cooked.
Isabel M — Google review
Was expecting better, tbh. The halibut was dry (cardinal sin). Actually, all the meat was over-cooked and dry, sadly. Even the pieces of house-made bacon on the BLT salad were cooked to within an inch of their life. The sauce on the sautéed kale that came in the entrée, and the salad dressing were delicious, though. The menu is inspired, but the actual cooking of the proteins was poorly executed. That being said, the flour-less chocolate cake was to die for. The salad was quite generous, we split it for two, but it could have gone three easily. The artisanal bread was excellent.

Fabulous dinner in Ross. Across our family we ordered 10 dishes and everything was fantastic. While the wine by the glass choices were limited there were plenty of half bottle and wine can options. We loved the carbonara and the steak frites in particular. The olives and bread with salted butter were also highlights. Would definitely recommend.

Duck confit was incredible! Go on a Tuesday to get their fried chicken, which is worth the trip (coleslaw it came with was bland though).

A true Earth-to-Table mixed Euro-Mediterranean-California style fare perfectly blended. Rich and fresh flavors and a quite extensive list of starters and entrees. Soothing beer soup (pictured) was a perfect warmup. The house gnocchi was delicious and plentiful. 1/2 price wine Wednesdays are a bargain and an opportunity to beat crowds. The rather unembellished surroundings can make for a loud evening. We look forward to warmer weather when we can dine outside. This was one of my favorite meals in a while.

Madcap is a renowned restaurant located in the charming town of San Anselmo, offering a unique blend of American, French, and Japanese cuisine. Helmed by chef Ron Siegel, this Michelin-starred establishment presents an intimate dining experience with elevated seasonal dishes. The tasting menus, featuring eight to eleven courses, showcase the culinary artistry and creativity of the kitchen.
It was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had in my life. What a wonderful menu. Everything was well selected, the service was impeccable, and the place was very charming and elegant. I recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a gastronomic experience.
Laura R — Google review
Madcap is a true gem in Marin. The menu is thoughtful and beautifully executed—each course a work of art that balances flavor, texture, and presentation. The atmosphere is intimate yet unpretentious, and the service is warm and knowledgeable without being overbearing. It’s no surprise they’ve earned Michelin recognition—every detail reflects a deep passion for food and hospitality. An unforgettable dining experience. Thanks Chef Ron!
Angela E — Google review
Madcap is a 1 Michelin-starred restaurant, so I came in with high expectations, but sadly, the experience left me underwhelmed. While nothing was outright bad, it didn’t deliver the level of creativity, precision, or excitement I’ve come to expect from a Michelin-starred establishment. Some dishes lacked proper execution, which was disappointing. For example, the shrimp hasami came tempura-fried but arrived soggy, which undermined the dish entirely. The jidori egg in the Chawanmushi also missed the mark — the egg whites were overcooked, clinging to the edges of the bowl, which disrupted the silky texture one would expect. The dry-aged ribeye was another letdown, served slightly overcooked and at a cooler temperature than ideal. These details may seem small, but at this level, execution should be flawless. What surprised me most was the lack of innovation. None of the dishes stood out as exciting or memorable, whether through unique pairings or fresh takes on classic recipes. Even the dessert, a meringue cake with vanilla ice cream, felt uninspired and forgettable, a far cry from the elevated finish I anticipated. The service was fine, but again, nothing exceptional. It lacked the polished attentiveness that typically elevates a Michelin-starred experience. In the end, the overall experience felt overwhelmingly average. Comparing Madcap to other restaurants in San Francisco at similar or even lower price points, I found myself questioning the Michelin distinction. While nothing was glaringly wrong, there wasn’t enough to make the meal special, and that’s not what I associate with a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Valerie — Google review
Dining at this one-star Michelin gem promises a journey through high-quality, delicious fare. We tried the chef's eleven-course menu, and while the food was undeniably tasty, showcasing the chef's talent across diverse dishes, the courses lacked a clear progression. While each course stood out in its own right, the cohesion from start to finish was lacking, leaving a disjointed narrative. A progression from seafood to steak felt abrupt rather than a harmonious exploration. The bread, surprisingly cold, fell short of expectations, and the attempt to fix it with a butter-fried alternative missed the mark. Nevertheless, service was great, but for a Michelin star, I expected a bit more coherence in the menu.
Mahsa E — Google review
Madcap is an incredible restaurant in Marin County. Michelin star rated with a minimum of 10 course tasting menu that is to die for. It's an Asian American fusion and the menu changes with the seasons so you will always have a different experience. Every dish on the tasting menu will leave you breathless. Definitely a must try and it's on the cheaper side for a Michelin star restaurant. I loved the at atmosphere, very moody. Take your special someone there if you are into Asian style cuisine. You won't regret it.
Rodrigo F — Google review
We traveled a couple hours to try this place out and we're happy we did. Just about every dish was an intriguing mix of flavors, textures, and colors all plated very carefully. It is a fixed menu so can't say what you'll be getting, but our favorites were actually the off-the-menu small bites provided before the listed courses started. Staff were helpful and friendly, including a sommelier who helped us pair a sake to the menu. They also checked food allergies or restrictions and had a nice alternative for the one thing I didn't want (swapped trout for a scallop). All in all a must try for foodies who find themselves around Marin county.

Donut shop
Coffee shop
Johnny Doughnuts is a trendy little coffee and donut shop that has been a favorite in San Raf since 2012. They offer a variety of small-batch pastries made with local ingredients, including wild-berry-jam-filled Bismarks, caramel apple fritters, and chocolate-glazed "crodoughs." In addition to traditional options, they also have vegan and gluten-free choices. The doughnuts are handmade each morning using all local and organic ingredients.
Delicious but expensive. A really nice shop with large tables in a expansive layout. We went at the end of their day (2 pm) and you can see that they still had some left. That also shows they have their values in the right place to balance work and time off to produce a quality product with good staff. We had a cronut and a french toast doughnut. Ugh! They were SOOO good! The quality can be tasted in the chocolate icing too. It tastes like dark chocolate, and not like the slightly chocolaty brown wax that some places have. We would buy more, but we'll have to save our pennies to make it a special treat next time.
Cory S — Google review
The doughnuts are capital F … fancy. Gorgeous looking works of art. With that comes along a premium price. A doughnut will set you back $3-4 each. They have no discount per the dozen. They also sell coffee drinks. There is some indoor seating but it’s limited. They have an outdoor patio which is actually a barricaded parking space on 4th street, it’s functional. Back to the doughnuts… they have glazed, raised, crodoughnuts, bar, twists, fritters, cinnamon rolls, and bismarks in a bunch of flavors. The raised doughnut tasted a bit different than what I am used to, not in a bad way, just different. The raised doughnuts contain wheat and a bit of potato. I bought a couple of old fashions (chocolate salted caramel, vanilla) and raised (classic, strawberry glaze). The doughnuts and glazes were not overly sweet. My fave was the chocolate salted caramel, great flavor combo. Moist interior, with a classic crunchy exterior. The staff at the doughnut ordering counter didn’t know the exact prices beyond the range of $3-4. And oddly there was no pricing listed anywhere. There was no menu … no price board, no printed menu. I found that totally odd to not have prices listed. I still don’t know if I was overcharged or not. There seems to be room on the doughnut sign label to write in the prices.

Overall great place. Doughnuts are good. Coffee is good. Staff is always friendly. I do have an ask for the owner. PLEASE get coffee cups that don’t leak. Every time. EVERY TIME! Leaks from the cup seam or crappy lid seal. Drips on the clothes. Drips on the floor. Leaves a big ring on the table. Please just don’t cheap out on cups. Don’t offer to go cups at all if they don’t work. It’s ridiculous.

Definitely a fancy donut shop! The store is bright and clean, and filled with delicious donut selections. They have a variety of vegan donuts, too! There’s plenty of street parking right outside the shop. But come early because they run out of donuts quick.

Wow do I love these doughnuts!! They are such great quality and have an amazing selection. I truly have never had a better doughnut and they are worth the calories and sugar!! I highly recommend visiting Jonny’s!!

Typical Marin food: overpriced and mediocre. If you want actually good donuts at an appropriate price go to Sunrise. This place will charge you $50 or more for a dozen. What??

This place is incredible. I’m obsessed with the apple pie donut- best thing I’ve ever eaten. The dough is so soft and pillowy and the filling is incredible. Definitely worth the trip. Get there before 10am to ensure the favorites aren’t sold out!

The furthest thing from Krispy Kreme. Thick cake donuts, not at all to my taste. If you like donuts that are close to bagels, then this is the place for you. Also, they are cold, and won't heat them up at all. Also, the ambiance is lovely.

The El Huarache Loco mexican restaurant is a family-owned and operated spot with authentic Mexican flavors. The setting is spacious, clean, and the staff are impeccable. The watermelon margarita was delicious and very refreshing. The huaraches were a favorite of ours - they're substantial in size and come with plenty of tasty salsa to top them off. We highly recommend this mexican restaurant!
Great place to eat and have a snack or a full meal. We ordered nachos with guacamole and quesadillas, both delicious and well balanced flavors. The staff is actually latino and nice :) the outside tables are very large and inside they play good music. The service was quick and efficient. Only little tiny complain is that not every table is always clean, which is why I gave a 4 stars to the atmosphere and not 5, everything else is great though. Wonderful, would recommend! Byeeee

Stopped by El Huarache Loco for dinner and enjoyed it. It’s a bright, casual spot with a chill vibe and friendly staff—perfect for a laid-back meal. The margarita was simple and refreshing—not too sweet, nice lime flavor, and just strong enough. Great pairing with the food.
David H — Google review
The courtyard is gorgeous and people working there are so nice. But the food is what’s most amazing, it was our first time trying the huarache and it was so delicious! Will be back to try more, so worth the drive from SF!
Yuka I — Google review
This place is not authentic Mexican food — not even authentic Mexican-American food. It’s so watered down that the only genuinely Mexican thing about it is the people in the kitchen. I ordered a gordita, something I’ve enjoyed countless times in Mexico City, and what I received was so far from the real thing that I had to send a picture to my mother out of sheer disbelief. It might as well have been called a sope or a flaquita — anything but a gordita. The flavors are flat, the tacos lack any depth or seasoning, and there isn’t even a proper serving of refried beans anywhere in sight. Everything tastes like it was designed for people who want to say they’ve had Mexican food without actually experiencing it. It’s painfully clear this place caters to a crowd that values aesthetics over authenticity — people who want something “ethnic” enough to post about but mild enough not to challenge their palate. If you genuinely believe this food is authentic, you might want to reevaluate what authenticity means to you.

Went with group of friends. I ordered Huarache con Alambre. Was tasty and good portion size. The only reason i gave 4 stars was because it's a bit pricy. Great atmosphere and beautiful presentation.
Ati — Google review
Authentic Mexican flavors and dishes in a nice, spacious, clean setting. Really liked the huaraches, which you don't see on too many menus. The serving size is substantial, and you can pile on more tasty salsa at your table if you like. Solid spot for great Mexican food!
Christine M — Google review
This place has gone hill a bit. Everything needed salt and acid. The fish on the fried fish taco was excellent. But the salsas, the crema, the jicama Pina salad all needed salt, vinegar and or lime. The salad looked sad and maybe had been sitting around a while. The counter person was nice. News everywhere attacking our food outside—fans would help. I’ve been going here for years and like this place. It seems the chef could pay more attention to the seasoning and flavors.
Amy M — Google review
This place has gone seriously downhill. The last two visits have been an awful experience. The tables are dirty and staff seemed annoyed when asked to wipe our table. We ordered tacos which took over 30 minutes. We were almost late to an event. The tacos are simply terrible. Sad to see the decline.

The menu offers over 20 different kinds of burgers, including beef, turkey, and vegan options, along with corn dogs, chicken, hot dogs, and salads. Originally founded by Phyllis Larson, the business is now run by James and Michelle Cho. Customers praise the excellent customer service and speedy orders at this small but welcoming burger stop.
This is an amazing burger bar in San Rafael, one of the best burgers I have ever had the pleasure of eating anywhere in the world.

This was a great gem to find. Hamburgers were thick and juicy. Some of the best sweet potato fries, hot, crunchy on outside soft in center. Only draw back is that the y need more inside seating but well worth the visit.

I was traveling with my partner to Stinson Beach and we just really wanted a burger. After visiting and having a good time, we looked up a burger place on our route heading back to Chico and came across Phyllis Giant Burger. We ordered and ate and had a good time. Even had a casual conversation with a family there. So sweet and kind. We had never been there before and it was amazing! They are also very understanding people.
One'N'OnlyMikki — Google review
The burgers are fresh big, juicy and seem natural. Don't go here a lot so I was kind of surprised at how good they were. I got a lettuce wrap burger and curly fries. It was messy to eat but high quality.
Lindsay R — Google review
A small but welcoming burger stop. Phyllis’s has excellent customer service, they’re fast on the orders and the food is amazing. My order consisted of a giant burger topped with pesto sauce, two giant burgers with bacon, a large garlic fries and small regular fries paired with a coffee milk shake, mint chip milk shake and a vanilla milk shake. The burger was a great choice I’ve never had a burger with pesto before but it’s definitely something that I’ll be recommending to future customers. The shake on the other hand tasted a little bit too much like black coffee however the mint chip specialty milkshake was delicious. Between three people we weren’t not able to finish the garlic fries you get pretty big servings. The small here is a large at other places so keep that in mind when you’re ordering. There is seating indoor and out but it is limited but there are plenty of parks to stop and have a picnic near by. I will most definitely be coming back to this establishment for years to come. Thank you for the amazing dinning experience.
Armando M — Google review
This is a charming burger joint. Kid behind the register is sweet as pie. The people there talk to you while they are working. Burgers are great. GF Buns fall apart and next time I'd go with a lettuce wrap but the burger itself was great and the curly fries were actually crispy. 10/10. (Fryer also fries breading so no GF fries but the place is worth the trip for sure.
Cara F — Google review
Impressive old school burger stand with top quality ingredients that are well prepared. The price reflects the area and the quality...no complaints. The burger was perfection...juicy, fat, greasy enough, perfectly cooked to your specifications, generous portions of bacon, grilled fresh onion, ripe tasty thick sliced tomato...the works. Pro tip ask for a side of chipotle mayo with those amazing super crispy yet not dry fries. Coffee shake was good, but probably not worth the calories or price tag for our tastes... but nice in any case. We shared a bacon cheese burger, large fries and a coffee shake and were stuffed and satisfied! Delicious! Stop by on a trip up North or if you are in Marin for old school American roadside fare ramped up without being ruined. If you love a Giany juicy burger and fries .. you won't regret the visit!

Owned by a husband-and-wife duo, the remodeled bar offers a diverse menu including chili lime cauliflower, classic sandwiches, and truffle waffle fries.
Great bar, food was delicious. Food took a little longer then expected but it was worth the wait. Fish tacos were amazing!!

Bar smelled like bleach/cleaning products on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Did not enjoy that. Service was fast but perfunctory. Not warm or inviting. Korean tacos were super tasty! The grilled cheese and fries were disappointing. Nice beer choices. Seems like this place is most loved for late-night times, not every day times. There was no vibe on our visit. Lots of potential.
Colleen M — Google review
The drinks menu offers a standard selection of cocktails, beer, and spirits. There is nothing outstanding or memorable about the selection, but there were no obviously poor choices either. Prices are in line with the city average, not overpriced, but not particularly attractive either. The service is fairly prompt, the waiters are polite and attentive, but there is a lack of individual attention to customers. Orders are taken quickly, drinks are brought on time, but without any additional information or recommendations.

Food was ok. Cheese steak sandwich was made with ground beef. Nice place though.

Cannot believe! Nobody mention this place before. I did not know San Rafa have a little late night spot for good food and drinks. The atmosphere is fine, you will find a mix of people that surprisely create a warm ambient. They have a good menu. I usually order to go and you get what you order.
Claudia A — Google review
The beer was good. The service was good. The atmosphere was distinctly American bar. We've wanted to stop-in here for years and finally did. Wife ordered tacos, they were good. I ordered a burger, medium-well, because I like a crust on my burger (was hoping for a sear). However, at medium-well, the burger should be somewhat pink on the inside. It wasn't. It was overcooked and hard. I was disappointed. However, the meat -what was left of it- was good quality. The tacos had good quality ingredients, too. Ergo, I had to remind myself: it's a bar that serves food; it's not a restaurant. It's a bar. 8 stars / 3 categories = 2.666, round up to 3. If there is to be a next time, then I'll order the burger medium rare and hope the cook stops at medium.

Los Moles Hecho En Casa is a Mexican restaurant located on Lincoln Avenue, offering a variety of traditional pueblo Mexican dishes with a focus on different mole options. The menu includes enmoladas, tacos, pollo al horno, carne asada, and flan. On Taco Tuesday, they offer special deals on quesabirria tacos and host a Sunday buffet brunch with live music and fresh cafe de la olla.
They have Tuesday Tacos!!!! And also quesabirrias menu and drinks on Tuesdays. Only the drinks go from 3pm-6pm but the rest of its every Tuesday all day. Plus this amazing buffet of Mexican soups this places has on the weekend I like their food! We went on a Tuesday the place look cleans nice and very cozy. We got tacos table and quesabirrias and I really like the flavor! They have a specific menu that you can order from but for my point of view is worth it! Plates have a great presentation and the service was 5/5! They do also have decent price for the quality of food! For drink they have good margaritas and we order the “mexicanita” beer from the brewing El cielo!!!! (Great lager beer) Here some photos!

This place was recommended to us for good tacos in San Rafael, but we got so much more! We stopped in on a weekend and there’s a buffet with so many kinds of mole, succulent carnitas and other meats, poblano rice and beans, plantains, soups, salads and fresh fruit, plus someone is behind the counter making fresh tortillas that they bring to your table in a little basket. We thoroughly enjoyed it, helpful attentive service too.
Kristin D — Google review
I can't give this place enough praises . Every one of the staff is friendly and attentive . The food is savory , you have a lady making fresh and hot tortillas all day . We go on the weekends , buffet is our go to. Pozole is off the hook and you have all the ingredients to enhance your pozole experience. I noticed some people walk by the pozole curious about it , maybe I'll do a little video on how to pick your fixings like cilantro , onions , dried parsley , lime , cabbage , and maybe a little dried chilis if you like it spicy . I have to also suggest a maragarita or the micheladas. 5 stars all the way!!!

Mainly writing this review for their carnitas - really good!! Over 8 years ago, I had the carnitas from the Los Moles in emeryville and never forgot how good it was, but also never went back. 8 years later I finally decide to come here and try the carnitas again (from San Rafael) and it is still excellent! Tender meat, including one or two nice fatty pieces (but soft, not tough) and plenty of flavor - you can taste the spices/seasoning. Both red (tomato habanero?) and green salsas were good to. I’m always on the search for carnitas that isn’t too dry, salty or plain and Los Moles definitely lived up to my high hopes! Probably the best carnitas I’ve had in 5+ years. AND the burrito was huge and only $13 (a pretty good deal these days).
C H — Google review
in san rafael's area for an event and i remember this place offer ayce buffet, so I was excited to try! Buffet is $25 in 2024. Which is not bad, considering they have plenty of food and it lives up to its name: mole collection. A few positives: 1. Servers are all so nice. Some are not so fluent in English but they still tried. 2. They honor the check-in-mimosa. And it was tasty too! 3. Their carnitas are great! I love their cochinita pibil as well. 4. Their chicharron is sooo good! Some can be a little tough though, so be careful. 5. They offer pozole as part of their buffet. Something I rarely see. 6.their green rice is better than their mexicano rice. Some downside? Some of the mole looks like it's been there awhile. There is also no mention on the type of meat for each dishes. Something to improve! It's cute little restaurant and the buffet is in separate room, the front was a little crowded but the buffet is quiet.

Nice more authentic place, playing great Mexican cumbia, friendly staff. They make homemade molés, several types 🤤 Come try this, I’d easily come back.

Service and Food were phenomenal! Our server host was Zenaido...so gracious and accommodating...he ran service for the entire restaurant plus take-outs (numerous). We started with Chips and Guac and Chips with Frijoles & Queso. Both were very good...the Guac was freshly made as it was bright green while the Frijoles & Queso was a surprisingly yummy combination! It was so good that we forgot to take a photo for this review...hahaha! For entrées we had the Carne Asado with a side of Mole Poblano, Swai Fish with Mango Mole (so fresh and flaky) and another Swai Fish with Pineapple mole. We also ordered a Guava Mimosa which was a nice twist rather than orange juice. It is the BEST Mole Sauce for sure...complex, smoky, while the spice level can be calibrated. We hope to come back as we are from SF. It was well worth the effort and the drive.

The open kitchen serves up dishes like mini lobster rolls and roasted squash bisque with tahini, ricotta, and black truffle agnolotti. Their craft cocktails and curated wine list focus on organic and biodynamic varieties, making it a great place to enjoy a meal in San Rafael.

The ambiance was nice, and the food was really good. The ahi tuna tartare was especially delicious, our favorite appetizer. The steak was perfectly cooked, and the service was excellent and friendly. They change their menu occasionally, which is nice because you can try different dishes. I prefer seating outside when available because there's more space and it's not as loud. Seating inside is also nice, but when it's crowded, you get too close to the person sitting next to you, if seating at the two-person tables.

Heard awesome things about the restaurant so wanted to try it out. Ambience and wait staff, fantastic. Food, some dishes were great while others flat. Cocktails, highly recommend, they know what they’re doing. The details- If you want one of the booths, you HAVE to request it on a Friday-Sunday night. Pretty annoying when we asked to have a booth and one stayed completely empty our entire meal…weird but ok? The staff is SO nice and incredibly friendly, ready to help with any questions. They were attentive without being pushy and had great attention to detail. Their cocktails are fantastic- perfectly executed and well balanced. Kudos to the bartender who had a full bar to attend to as well. The food. This is where things got a little dicey. The special menu said crab cake appetizer and a halibut entree - love these so wanted to try. The crab cakes….were not cakes. I don’t even know if there was that much crab in them at all. They were as big as a dino nugget each, with zero flavor. The remoulade on top and romesco sauce on bottom were the only flavors to the dish. The halibut was SUPER inconsistent, each piece coming out of the kitchen in varying sizes. The overall portion was very small, barely making it an entree size. On the core menu, we also got the radiatore bolognese dish. Sauce was fantastic but the pasta was wellllll over cooked. Huge bummer. For the better dishes, the saffron arancini were fantastic and super flavorful. The cioppino was MASSIVE and had so much to it and a beautiful piece of grilled sourdough for dunking. The fried chicken sando was a little smaller than expected, but the sauciness and flavor well made up for it. Needless to say, the staff was lovely, but the food needs some solid adjustments. I would recommend sitting a the bar (it’s very popular) and grabbing an app there instead.

Absolutely loved our dinner at Guesthouse Marin! We started with the Cocktail Puffy Shirt, a fun and flavorful drink made with rum, mezcal, pineapple, orgeat, lime, and bitters. Refreshing and perfectly balanced. The kale salad was crisp and vibrant with shaved kale, crispy shallots, sesame, pecorino a great starter. The highlight for me was the wild mushroom gnocchi 🥰 pillowy, earthy, and full of depth with chard, chili, and an intoxicating truffle butter aroma. We also had the wood-grilled king salmon, beautifully seared and served over a creamy corn succotash with sweet red pepper and a bright herb sauce on top. It was flavorful, seasonal, and satisfying. Can’t wait to come back again!
Claudia M — Google review
Great all round experience. Excellent service, quick and very professional. Food was very good if a little under seasoned. Disappointed there was no bread offered, and the toast pieces with the tuna tartare looked like they were out of a packet. Steak was properly medium rare, and delicious. A little pricey but, you have to pay a bit more for quality these days, so not unreasonable.

Over the years, I've driven by this place, and today I met up with a friend, and we had a great dinner. Their portions are big enough for you to share with someone. The atmosphere was perfect, very mellow, but modern and warm. We had three different dishes, and all of them were just amazing. They had this shrimp toast dish (I can't remember the full name) but it was so good!! Forsure check this place out and enjoy!!

Finally had a chance to try this wonderful addition to the Marin dining scene. Everything working on all cylinders. Great host nabbed us a prime table in the lively dining room. Service spot on for stellar martini (Plymouth), oysters (Canadian), Caesar salad, saffron rice balls, followed by wild salmon with beans and mashed potatoes, and dazzling chicken sandwich with crisp fries. Took cookies to go. Compelling wine list. Ready to return soon. Reservations best bet.

Bay Thai Cuisine is a cozy outpost that provides familiar Thai dishes, including aromatic soups and flavorful curries. It is widely regarded as one of the top three, if not the best, Thai food establishments in Marin County. This small eatery primarily caters to take-out orders with only four petite tables available for dine-in customers. The food consistently delivers delightful flavors and is particularly renowned for its exceptional Pad Thai and Pra Ram dishes.
This place is tiny so I can see how easily they can run out of spots. Not a romantic dinner site as everyone is quite crammed in. We were lucky to find a seating right when we came in. The food though was soooooo good and plentiful. The two of us shared a small soup, one serving of rice and one entree each and we still left being barely able to move and with leftovers. Everything tasted rich and flavorful. I am not based in the area but when I visit I will come back!

I literally live for Bay Thai Pad Thai. I get it almost every week and there has never been any better Pad Thai. It’s so delicious and has a generous amount of protein and veggies for a fair price. I also appreciate how this is a local spot that is run by a couple and friends. They always serve us. However, they only take cash. My family comes here and in addition to the Pad Thai enjoys the Pad See Ew, Green Curry, and Papaya Salad. Those are just a few of an our favorites. The founder, Jole Braun, brings her Italian family's flavor expertise to the menu, with Coraddo Fabbro overseeing the Novato location since 1996. Despite no advertising, it has gained a reputation as Marin's best deli through word-of-mouth.

I have to say, was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food on the happy hour menu. I really enjoyed the food. It has things adults and children can go for something a little nicer. I have been happy with everything I’ve ordered minus the popovers. But that is probably a personal preference vs a criticism of the popovers. I would recommend the calamari, burger, prime rib dinner, fish (can’t remember which exactly b cause it was a few visits ago). And the drinks!! I had a spicy margarita that I loved.

Super great happy hour. Good for after hike. 6 oysters for $12. Onion soup is one of the best. Sliders need 30% less bun. Decent staff and Mill Valley/semi-professional vibe.

The food was really good. Fried Lemons, who would have thought? Delicious! Really comfortable vibe. Our bartender was great, attentive without hovering. It was a great experience.

Extremely disappointed, two families together with our own kids. Quality of food very poor. The wine and the dessert were good. Great disproportion between quality and price.

The Gravity Tavern was a bit of a mixed bag, but overall I had to give it four stars. Their cocktails and hors d'oeuvres were fabulous. Our waiter offered a suggestion of a wine that fit our dish perfectly. The down sides? The food was not hot when it arrived at the table. The fried chicken just looked like a mess.

Magnolia Park Kitchen is a downtown American bistro in San Rafael, CA, known for its farm-fresh salads and a variety of sandwiches. The menu offers options like quinoa salad with cranberry and carrot, Cubano sandwich, Reuben sandwich, and a signature fried chicken bomb sandwich with firecracker aioli and serrano pickle slaw. The restaurant features a heated outdoor patio where patrons can enjoy their meals or sip on a glass of wine.
Nice little place. We had never stopped in town in San Rafael. Only passed through. Glad we chose this. We were all hungry. The sammies here are a sight to behold. The boys scarfed down their Burger and Turkey Sandwich. I didn't even get a pic. I had the Reuben, it was great. We'll go back. I loved sitting where I could watch the head cook. That dude was WORKIN! The house made bbq chips made me wanna slapp someone, they were so good

Great place for lunch. The burgers were good. The fries crispy. The service great. Location was by a fee other great food options too.

This spot was picked for a late breakfast/early lunch before golf. Ordered a sandwich. It was good and their chips are delicious. Someone at the table ordered avocado toast... Fitting. After lunch we came back for a pint and was blown away with how much they charge. A “pint” of Racer 5, a local beer, mind you, is not an $8.09 experience. They also charge $7 for a bottle of Lagunitas Phase Change. Also local and not worth $7. I digress. They have a citrus water thing that was nice. Just not the experience we were expecting based on their website.

The beet salad was beyond delicious. The Cubano sandwich was so full of flavor, moist and tender. Great outdoor patio too.

It was our first time here, and we got the TY Cobb sandwich and the Beijing chicken salad. Both were top-notch!! Very fresh ingredients, very tasty, and the portions were quite large. We actually could not finish them for lunch, and took leftovers home and had them for dinner! I’m so excited that I finally found an excellent spot in San Rafael for sandwiches and salads!

outstanding fresh and delicious sandwiches!! Our new favorite takeout/delivery spot. We will be ordering again soon. The fried chicken sandwich was incredibly flavorful, great depth with a nice amount of heat...but not too much! The homemade BBQ chips were also a hit.

Nestled in a modest building, Pete's 881 Club is a hidden gem that has been serving the community since 1951. Located at 721 Lincoln in San Rafael, this spacious venue boasts an inviting atmosphere with its single-room layout and outdoor patio. While it may lean more towards being a sports bar than a traditional dive, it still retains that charming dive bar vibe.
Excellent local dive gem! Stopped in on a Friday for dinner. The server was on point, knowledgeable, and attentive even though he had many tables to attend to. The menu is full of great options, as were the daily specials. Creative drink and dessert options. The French dip was fantastic as well were the house chips, garlic fries, and desserts. Even with the card games and full bar, the room wasn't overly loud. Will definitely be back!

It was good! I want to come back to try the soup, the prime roast, and the burger w the steak knife. I had the meatloaf special. It was advertised to come w green beans but came w broccoli instead which was fine since I like broccoli enough but green beans would have been preferred. It was a good value and I have another meal to eat tomorrow. The atmosphere is dive-y old skool sports bar but not shady or dirty. Good service and the patrons around me were chatty. It was a nice stop off the highway to get a bite to eat.

Just to be clear, this is not a “4 star restaurant”, it’s a 4star dive bar! Unassuming outside, friendly and large inside. My bro-in-law and I went there for late dinner after doing some work on his house. The kitchen was still open, with a fairly large menu; lots of burger options, a special chicken dinner and more. We sat at the bar, had some beers (Guinness on tap!) and delicious burgers with tasty sides. If you’re in the area and looking for a drink and a good meal, I say check it out. (Note: not for kids)

The bartenders were friendly and service oriented. It's definitely a huge plus to have bartenders that make you feel welcome to be there. The layout of the numerous wide-screen TVs is excellent. You can get a really great view from just about anywhere. The crowd vibe is definitely on the mellow side. The food is not good. Ordered the chicken wings. They were definitely overcooked. The quality of the chicken meat was very poor. Watched some other people eating pepperoni pizza, and the pizza looked like the low end pizza that is served in a high school cafeteria. Really enjoyed watching a great football game here. Overall, come here for drinks with friends and watch the games, play pool. Skip the food altogether, totally not worth it. I recommend this business

Stopped here for lunch on our way to Healdsburg. It is a true dive bar. Located on a street full of car repair shops, we were not sure we were at the right place. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered the Texas burger with tater tots and the lumber jack burger with onion rings. Both burgers were what you would expect…..great toasted bun, and just the right amount of grease. The patty was a bit smaller than we expected but agreed the Texas Burger is the way to go.

The place & the neighborhood looks forbidding, like a horror movie is about to be filmed. Go inside and you will find the complete opposite, good breakfasts & lunch fare, libations, specials, on and on... I like to go in on Sundays, when Andre rules the roost! Always fun, how dare they call this a dive!

Pretty interesting place with poker, darts and pool. You'll find an unusual but friendly crowd here. The food is pretty good with mostly burgers and such with rotating specials. Thursday is Prime Rib! Bar is pretty good with standard cocktail fare and beers on tap. My only complaint is the atmosphere which feels mildly uncomfortable. I can't say why exactly, but the feng shue is off.

Paseo: A California Bistro is a charming culinary gem located in Mill Valley, where contemporary dining meets rustic elegance. The bistro's inviting atmosphere features exposed brick and wood accents, creating a cozy yet stylish setting perfect for any occasion. Under the guidance of Executive Chef Sylvain Montassier, the menu showcases an array of seasonal dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients.
We had a great birthday dinner meal with family x6 at Paseo. The service was excellent. The food was outstanding. We ordered the charcuterie for a table appetizer. It was amazing. Most of us ordered the scallop entree (photo attached), plus a beef burger, and a fish of the day. The bottled wine was quite expensive. Altogether, we had a lovely and memorable meal.

I was excited to visit this restaurant because my recollection of it from days past was that it was a cute and delicious French bistro. Granted it’s been at least 15, maybe 20 years since I’ve been there, but my expectations were still high given my past experience. The restaurant, unfortunately, disappoints. While the ambience is definitely cute, there’s not much more special about it than that. The best thing about the restaurant were the nonalcoholic drinks, which were delicious. The appetizers were yummy, but nothing to write home about. The carrot ginger soup was good, but also nothing special. The beet salad was subpar because the beats were not cooked enough, the dressing wasn’t delicious, and the goat cheese was somehow off. Maybe it was feta cheese. I ordered the filet mignon expecting something very special. But it was pretty average at best. First of all, the waiter did not ask how I wanted it cooked. It came medium, which, is a little overcooked for me. People around me also ordered this dish and had it more rare. The mashed potatoes and the asparagus with which it arrived were fine, but nothing special. The sauce was pretty average and something I would expect to have at a local diner off a major highway. The dessert was fine and also nothing special. The service was friendly, and the waiters were quite nice, but not as top-notch as I would expect at this level. For example, they forgot to replenish the silverware so that when my entrée arrived, I had to ask for a fork. No big deal. But also annoying if you’re going to a fine dining establishment. Overall, I had high expectations and the food was very disappointing which is why it’s getting two stars.

Took my husband here with friends this April 2025— and we had a great time. Loved the cocktails from the bar menu, the creative appetizers, and the great service. One of the highlights was the marshmallow toasting at our table for my husband’s “s’more” cocktail! Planning to go back soon.

Commenting on the bar only, as I haven’t been to the restaurant since it was the original for my 18th birthday… Let’s just say sometime ago. One of my top three drinks is the Last Word, and the one our bartender made is definitely one of the best ones that I have had outside of what I make at home.

Great Beer Place 🍺🍻 They have a rich menu of beer like a paradise, all different kinds and flavors! So you can really find yours, since I’m a hazy fan, my favorite one was “Cashmere” and my boyfriend tried “Surreal Appeal Belgian Golden” too good!!! They do also have a food menu, that’s also it’s very good!!! The place is very nice, very clean, nice design and decoration! They have an indoor and outdoor space for hanging. Really great place for beer lovers! Definitely try it!

March 2025: Super cool place! Came here for lunch on a Saturday and was very impressed with both the beer 🍻 and the food. The falsetto (West Coast IPA) and Devils Gulch (hazy IPA) were my two favorites. The triple IPA was very good too. Took home some cans to enjoy! Lunch was excellent. Had the veggie sandwich with German potato salad and chicken wings with buffalo sauce. Everything was very tasty 😋. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Will definitely come back again!

If you love breweries, this place is a must. A large and extremely open setting with comfortable seating indoors or on the patio. Their craft beer is excellent and their staff is obviously happy to help you or give you information about the beer. The food and beer menus rotate on a regular basis. Live music on Saturday nights. Absolutely a fun place for those who enjoy good beer, good food and a good buzz with friends.

Cool vibe, we enjoyed the brews! Brussels sprouts were DELICIOUS, unfortunately the bratwurst was not as impressive-mostly bun. This is not a reason to not go there tho, Pilsner and pub ale were excellent and the service was was fast and friendly!

OH MY GOD. Pond Farm is a playground of beer joy! No, wait, a candy store for beer lovers who are gluten free!! I literally tried everything on tap… I LOVED so many of them, they’re so layered and thoughtfully crafted and all so different. I bought multiple mix and match four packs to go and even a bottle I hadn’t tried bc of… trust since everything else was so damn good. I think my two favs were the Devil’s Gulch Hazy IPA and.. oh no I don’t see it.. it’s in a dark green can (help! It existed in July but don’t see on menu now). For something light, the lager is classic, and the lady beer is light with a little more sparkle and nuance. BUT I LOVED EVERYTHING except for one or two that were sweeter on the palate (still great just not excellent for my personal preferences). I foolishly didn’t eat but the food looked so tasty. Very spacious place, loved the ambiance. Everyone who worked there was fabulous - just as excited for me as I was about all of my beer options and the goodies I brought home. Thank you!!!! Please start shipping. I don’t have a car! I won’t fill out the “how much did you spend” category because I bought over $100 of beer to take home after enjoying two right then and there (I was comfortable with pricing of individual everything).

Posting "Attention Parents" signs all over the taproom is a *great* way to alienate families. I've enjoyed taking my family to Pond Farm but I'm going to go more inclusive restaurants in the future. There is a less aggressive way for management to handle disruptive patrons (there are annoying adults too...)that doesn't shame all families for merely existing in public spaces.
Megan M — Google review
Such a cute place! The staff was friendly, helpful, and timely. I loved that there were several options to create your own flight. We ordered the loaded pretzel and brussel sprouts. It was also kid friendly and they even had a small kids menu which was awesome. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Update 06/2022 - They have good note too! The bratwurst, roast chicken and chicken wings were big hits! Original post - Clean, bright, wide open space with a good variety of tasty beers all brewed on site. It's also super bike friendly - with indoor bike racks - and kid friendly - with a kids play space that includes kids sized furniture and a variety of toys. Someone spill a little beer on you and you don't want to head out smelling like a brewery? They have cool t-shirts (I got one), hoodies (my husband wants one), and bike jerseys that will make sure you're visible on the road. Enjoy!

This is a super fun spot as a parent to explore with your toddlers and younger kids. I wish I had come a little bit sooner to have more years to explore this place with my kiddos. As somebody who needs to eat gluten-free, there wasn’t any options for me, but I’m kind of used to that so I don’t hold it against them. The play area was very clean and simple not overwhelming with toys. Just a lot of space for kids to use. Their imagination. Would be wonderful if there is something like this in Novato.

First time visiting this place. It's super cute, and the ambiance feels very chic. Small place, but the seating is very strategically put in place. The staff is very nice and quick service. The food was delicious and fresh as much as the drinks. Family-friendly environment. They have a very nice playground for the little ones for small price. I didn't have any kids with me, but it seemed fun for some little ones that were playing at that time. $$ Very clean Parking outside (parking meters) a little bit hard to find space.

We travel all the way from the East Bay to hangout here. Love the idea of a coffee shop and play space. Adults get some time to talk while kids enjoy some play time. Decor is simple yet classy. Place gets crowded on weekends so you either have to get there right when they open of after the morning rush. Pastries and beverages are surprisingly good. Many beverage options and yogurt. I just wish they offered more food options like avocado toasts, breakfast sandwiches or simple breakfast items. Staff are wonderful and great at enforcing the play space rules. The play space is kept very clean. Love all the options of play (dress up corner, reading nook, climbing tree, colorful tunnel). Recommend making the trek over.

Le Chalet Basque Restaurant is a warm and rustic spot that offers a taste of Basque cuisine from France and Spain. With over 45 years of experience, this restaurant has been serving classic dishes like escargots Bordelaise and frog legs in San Rafael's Santa Venetia neighborhood for over 56 years. The atmosphere is described as light-hearted and tasteful, with an outdoor patio providing a lovely setting for enjoying delicious food and drinks.
Le Chalet Basque The Basque Chicken! The Lamb Shank! The Service! The welcoming environment! What more could you want in a 2nd generation family restaurant? Owner/Chef Patrick is the real deal as is his team. Whether I am there on my own or hosting a tour group of 50 folks - this place is a winner. Full bar, patio dining, 2 dining rooms and parking. Just a few minutes from 101 and the Marin Civic Center in San Rafael on N. San Pablo Dam Rd. Don't be a stranger. Le Chalet Basque is worth your time and money - not to mention your taste buds. Great all around restaurant. Great food, great live Basque music, great service. I came at 5pm and was able to be seated right away and listen to the live guitarist. Outside and inside sitting. Menu with many excellent selections, good wines, as well as deserts. I had the Sand Dabs, watercress soup, Bordeaux wine, and the Gateau Basque for desert, wonderful! Pet friendly. I also left my credit card there accidentally. When I called after the restaurant was closed, expecting to leave a message, the manager answered and said he'd mail me my credit card right away! A full service restaurant. All the people I interacted with were very gracious and professional. I'll go there again for sure.

Most recently was there for Thanksgiving, so it's hard to judge for just a regular evening. But on that night the food was fantastic and the service great.

Drove here from the wine country to attend an event nearby. The outside patio is lovely. Was excited for all the Basque dishes listed on the menu on their website. To my surprise, there was not a single Basque dish on the limited menu that was provided. The service was incredibly slow and forgetful. (I arrived at 5:05 PM and was literally the only person there for the first 25 minutes). I ordered the shrimp in garlic butter. Shrimp were rubbery, swimming in a sort of milky white sauce. The side vegetable was wilted broccoli and cabbage, plus some sort of Rice-A-Roni looking rice that was weird. I typically have one glass of wine with dinner, but had to order two as these were tiny pours. There was a vegetable soup that was fantastic and the warm bread basket was absolutely terrific.Too bad they provided hard, foil wrapped, individual pats of butter to go with such delicious bread. Overall the experience was incredibly disappointing. I would’ve left the moment I saw the menu was misrepresented but I had no time to look for another restaurant. I was late to my event as the waiter kept disappearing or forgetting to bring the wine, the check, etc. Do Not Recommend.

I will say that from a few years ago this restaurant was just average. Our last 2 visits have changed our opinion. Tonight, I had veal scaloppine with mushrooms. My bride had veal picatta. Both dishes were delicious, hot, and flavorful! Our drinks were generous and good pours. We split a Ceasars salad that was dressed appropriately and was delicious. Very satisfied!

Old school restaurant that has been making fantastic meals… for what seems like forever! We had the Prime Rib last night and it was extremely tender and flavorful. The staff was also great and very attentive to all of the guests in the large dining room. We added deserts since we were celebrating our anniversary but really, that was probably too much food.

This was a really great classic Italian-American restaurant, just like the Italian restaurants I remember out East growing up. The Fettuccine Alfredo took me back, it’s the best one I’ve had in years. My dad had chicken Parmesan and it was great too, the chicken was pounded nice and thin and the tomato sauce tasted really fresh.

Good local venue. Service was excellent. Food offerings are pretty vast with lots of food options to choose from. Had the Brushcetta to start...crispy, garlicky...yummy! Chicken Parm with spaghetti and ravioli side was solid but not spectacular. Ok locals... don't hate. It was good BUT lacked a bit of seasoning and the sauce was a little watery but still good. It was huge too so you'll have plenty to share. Good experience overall. I'll be back for sure!!

Absolutely amazing little breakfast spot. Located at great location in downtown San Rafael and is one block away from 2 of the public parking structures. It is a pretty small spot so it could be packed at times and tight quarters. The food is absolutely amazing especially for the price that they charge. Really nice experiencing dining here. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious!!! Big quantity as well. I ordered the corn beef omelette while my gf ordered the Irish breakfast.

On 4th Street in Downtown San Rafael is a narrow building that’s home to a great breakfast place. We visited Lundy’s Home Cooking on a Saturday morning and were seated right away. There are a couple tables in the front window, several tables for 2 along the side wall and counter seats overlooking the grill. I ordered the Omelette with Chicken Apple Sausage and Cheese which was served with potatoes and choice of toast; my wife ordered their Eggs Benedict, also served with potatoes and toast. ass

Service was prompt and friendly and the food was delicious. In my omelette, the sausage (and cheese) was plentiful - and the potatoes were just as I like them, slightly crunch. My wife ordered their traditional Eggs Benedict. Now I know she is a Benedict aficionado and particular about the dish - she said it was very tasty! They have quite an extensive breakfast menu - with some unique choices like Fajita Omelette, Irish Breakfast, and a Chorizo Scramble. We’d happily return for a breakfast in the future.

I love the corned beef hash here. The service is good, the food is hot and the restaurant itself is cute and quaint.

Nice simple diner, probably serving good food to most customers. The counterman made fresh coffee for me, which was nice. Unfortunately, my experience went downhill from there. I ordered an omelet that should have come with a sauce. I received it without the sauce, but with the explanation that they were out of the sauce. No mention of the missing item when the order was taken. No mention when the order was presented to the cook. Nothing. Just an incomplete omelet. A full-price incomplete omelet. I'm sure that if the sauce was available, that the omelet would have been very good. And the server was nice. The coffee was good. But this is not the way to treat a customer.

Just stopped by before heading to La. Got the chicken Marsala. A great local food spot.

Had to pick up Kung Fu Larry at his house at 8am but I was early because of the lack of traffic coming in from Napa, so I stopped at Lundy's Home Cooking just around the corner for a few eggs on toasted sourdough. We were headed out to West Marin to get a couple of fat ewes before they give lambs, and needed to Lickity Split them back to Napa. It was a good thing I popped into Lundy's because the quick bite held me over perfectly! Those eggs were cooked perfectly and were simply Amazing! 5 ☆☆☆☆☆

Casa Mañana Restaurant is a Mexican eatery located in San Rafael, CA. It's a hidden gem with a casual and inviting atmosphere, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is known for being incredibly friendly and accommodating to all customer needs. The menu features classic comfort Mexican dishes such as vegetarian tacos and homemade horchata, as well as fresh squeezed orange juice and flan made with real eggs. The restaurant also offers private party accommodations.
Been here many times. The location is tucked in between medical buildings, a casual location to sit outside and have delicious Mexican food. The sangria is the best I’ve ever had.

What a great little gem tucked away among the office complex in San Rafael! Pleasant, with indoor and outdoor tables, it feels casual & inviting. The folks there are super welcoming and helpful, and will help with all questions. I had the vegetarian tacos with homemade horchata, my brother had a meal w fresh squeezed orange juice. Their flan is homemade w real eggs & no filler. Yum. I will be coming back to this hidden gem.

Nice outdoor seating and courtyard. Unfortunately the food is... extremely bland. Had a variety of options and they were all lacking. The woman serving was nice but not very attentive. Definitely busy but yea, whole experience was left with a lot to be desired.

Can fully recommend! The super friendly staff made you feel like you’ve been there many times. Great service and excellent food. A bit hidden, but absolutely worth the visit!

Had a deliciously flavorful dinner on the patio with my husband and 8 month old son on a Sunday evening. Immediately we were greated by friendly staff and seated outside. We used a highchair that was available which was appreciated since we wanted to have a meal all together with our 8 month old son. The service was amazing we got chips and salsa with our menus. I got a vegetarian tostada and my husband got cheese enchiladas. It was like magic how quick we got our meals. Everything was so delicious and my son finally got to sit and participate in our meal rather than watch us eat/hide what we are eating now that he's so interested in food! We gave him his first litte plate of refried beans, rice, and tastes of toppings. He was happy as a clam and slept better than he's ever slept before. Our server was interactive and kind with our little guy and being a mom that's a bonus when choosing a place to eat out. It was reasonably priced for how good the food is. We look forward to making this a new regular family dinner spot.

splendid hidden little place, the service is fantastic and the food is delicious. 100% must try if you’re in the area, but i would drive 30-40 minutes for their flautas and their tamales.

Fabulous food and the staff are awesome. Funky location in the middle of a medical office building, but that means lots of parking. Great place!

Sushi To Dai For is a modern sushi house located on Fourth Street in San Rafael, CA. The restaurant offers an extensive menu of rolls and Japanese fare in a stylish and spacious interior. Customers praise the freshness of the sushi, with one happy customer claiming it to be the freshest they have ever had. The restaurant is known for its inventive and flavorful sushi dishes, as well as special fish offerings not found elsewhere.
Inventive and flavorful sushi dishes with the most outstanding plating and presentation. Special fish offerings not found anywhere else!

This is a 3.5 star review for Sushi to Dai For. Local sushi in quaint downtown San Rafael, CA was reasonably priced, and centrally located. The space was large, boardering on vacuous, due to a lightly populated restaurant. The food itself was acceptably good, although nothing to "Dai" for. The service left something to be desired. Not checked on on a regular basis. Terrible salad dressing was left there, despite complaints, and a request to remove said offending salad, and "Can I get you anything?" was scarcely mentioned, as we lamented about poor service between ourselves. I would recommend Sushi To Dai For, but with limited reservations, and hesitation.

Le Comptoir is a contemporary French eatery that offers a variety of French-style dishes such as steak, mussels, and rotisserie meats along with an extensive wine selection. The restaurant's pre fixe menu offers a delightful culinary experience with high-quality ingredients and flavors that honor local in-season produce. The chef creates a different daily menu based on fresh and local ingredients, ensuring a unique dining experience each time.
Merci Beaucoup, Stefan and Company! Delicious French cuisine! We got the pre fixe menu ($70/pp) and had no regrets! Would recommend for the adventurous eaters who appreciate high quality eats. Flavors had variety and depth, while honoring local in-season produce. Could tell with each bite that the quality of ingredients were some of the best. Wine bottle selection is “pick your own” from the shop next door, which offers a fun, interactive experience. Highly recommend. Can’t believe we waited this long! Great for a special occasion. Staff are playful and fun - with that classic French hospitality. Bon Appetit!

We had a wonderful evening at Le Comptoir! It feels like you’re dining in someone’s home — cozy, personal, and full of warmth. The owners recited the menu from memory, shared stories, and made us feel like old friends. The food was exquisite — beautifully prepared and full of flavor. We went once on a casual Thursday evening and again for my birthday, and it was perfect for both. It’s rare to find a place that’s both relaxed and refined, that has high standards without any stuffiness. Highly recommend!

A casual French restaurant with seriously good food. Tonight I was with a party and from the starters through salmon, melt-in-your mouth pork loin and chicken surrounded by small potatoes and then a fruit galette and ice cream in a chocolate topped puff pastry, it couldn’t have been better. I was so busy talking and eating I only took a photo at the start. And the acoustics were surprisingly good so we could hear each other.
Gary M — Google review
The food was delicious, and the house wine was good, but we didn’t appreciate the lack of a paper menu. The proprietor rattles off the dishes so quickly in his lovely accent, it’s hard to even catch words, let alone decide what to eat. The cost was quite high also. But worth it for the excellent cuisine.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Le Comptoir last night. I had the beet salad and my entree was the salmon. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned and served on a bed of tasty vegetables. My daughter's fiancee had the mixed greens salad, the hangar steak, and a chocolate brulee. He thoroughly enjoyed everything along with some wine suggested by Stefan. The staff was very attentive and checked on us often. It was a delightful evening and we plan to return again very soon.

Very tasty French food in a relaxed, casual, yet contemporary atmosphere. Attentive, professional service. I ordered the salmon which was delicious.

What a strange experience we had here…We loved Le Comptoir a few years ago. Amazing food and service - but it’s clear something has changed. We were seated and waited sometime before being informed that there was no wine list - despite an extensive number of wines at the bar. We were told to go “look at the fridge” of the grocery store they own next door. Ok…we’re not snobs…so we go and look at the wines and there are no prices whatsoever. We pick a wine and just go with it because it was a special occasion. We drink our wine, $46 a bottle (not bad luckily) and wait for menus. We’re having a nice time chatting so it’s no concern, but about 25 minutes in we still don’t have a menu. The owner (I think?) comes to our table, and while nice, he frankly seems like he’s had a few glasses himself. He sort of gives us a pretentious chat about how Americans don’t appreciate French food. He proceeds to tell us “you can have the tasting menu - it’s $70 a person - or if you don’t trust me I can tell you what we have”. Alight…no menus…we decide to trust him and go with the tasting menu. Here’s what that entailed…one shared appetizer of salmon pate, jambon and and beets. Some bread on the side. It was fine, but nothing to write home about. For dinner it was another shared plate of overcooked pork in a brown sauce and then a bunch of rice with shrimp on top. Not very French to me…I can make pretty great overcooked rice and Costco shrimp at home. The dessert was equally unceremonious, on a shared plate. A chocolate mousse, an apple tart, and a small cake with vanilla ice cream. It all tasted store bought - and if it’s not - oof. The kicker to all of this? $362 with tip for 3 people. Sheesh. For a tasting menu, I’d expect better food and service. On top of all this the service was just ok…walked away feeling ripped off. Sorry le comptoir, but get it together.

Le Comptoir is an absolute gem among plenty of mediocrity in Marin. Food is between great to amazing with the menu somewhat limited for a small venue. The chef makes every day a different experience based on what is available local and fresh. Wines selection is incredible from the attached retail shop. Value is very good considering prices are medium to medium high, ranging from $20+ burgers to $60 multi-course pre-fix experiences. Please try this place out in support of local business owners we desperately want to sustain in our community.

There's something for every one here! The Point Reyes blue cheese burger with garlic fries are super tasty. But what I look forward to are the daily specials. Always fresh fish, quality ingredients, and that they buy locally too. Its conveniently right next to the Civic Center. Great place to have a nice meal and a glass of wine before a show!

The food is horrendous and here is the reason why: My chicken sandwich was burnt completely, my chips were overcooked and hard. The bread was tasteless. My friends burger not only was tasteless but just flat out tasted horrible. Her garlic fries had huge chunks of garlic which overwhelmed the flavor of the fries. NOTHING tasted good. The hotel itself is nice but for god's sakes, go ELSEWHERE to eat.

The service was quick! I ordered an omelet and it was cooked perfectly. I also had a side of bacon, but it was a little too salty for me. Overall it was great for a complimentary breakfast.
