Chicken restaurant
Hakata Mizutaki Toriden is a chic modern eatery in Fukuoka, specializing in the traditional local dish of Mizutaki, a hotpot with chicken soup. The restaurant's dense milky white soup is made from stock taken from home-bred chicken and combined with local fish and vegetables, along with special golden ponzu and yuzu pepper for a distinctive flavor.
If you need some nourishing the chicken course soup at Tori Den is a must try. It’s hot, tasty and good for the soul. Be aware that a course menu is 6000 Yen at lunch (4500 ala cart) per person and it can go as high as 14,500yen for dinner. It’s a must try
Bob C — Google review
The chicken soup is very delicious and generous in portion. The set meal offers many different ways to enjoy it, all of which are tasty. The service is excellent. Reservation is required in advance.
Sky S — Google review
Love the chicken broth that’s been simmered for 6 hours with very good quality chicken. The chicken in the broth was cooked to perfect, love the tender texture and fresh taste. The spring onion was cooked to perfection and we couldn’t stop from ordering one more.
Veronica C — Google review
My advice is go earlier. They don’t take away the dishes when you’re done. Probably a personal preference, but I would prefer to drink more of the soup instead of just using it as a soup base.
Jacqueline C — Google review
We went there with our toddler and had a fantastic experience. The service and the food were amazing. The chicken broth was golden and subtle. The ponzu they served was the perfect accompaniment for the chicken. We loved the tebasaki course and the granité as dessert. I highly recommend.
Sara C — Google review
Food here is legit amazing 🔥. Book early online. The basic course is sufficient and their karagae and tempura chicken are to die for. The chicken soup is on a different level of yummy! 🤤
Cuthbert E — Google review
The mizutaki service was incredible! Very delicious - definitely recommend one of the sets they offer. Mr Matsui's service was extremely attentive and made the dining experience an absolute pleasure!

Made a reservation about a week in advance. Had the tenjin set - everything was great. They were able to change the appetizer to fit my dietary requirements. However the porridge at the end tasted a bit too salty. The service is amazing!

Authentic Japanese restaurant
Chikae Fukuoka is a renowned restaurant that has been serving customers since 1961. The historic mansion, initially owned by a coal mining baron, Nakajima Tokumatsu, was renovated to accommodate various events and gatherings. The restaurant offers efficient programs to ensure smooth operations. Additionally, Chikae's popular spicy cod roe is sold at airports and other locations, known for its gentle and elegant flavor.
Excellent restaurant with a huge tank in the middle of the dining hall. The ambience is fantastic. They serve different fish and shell fish in sashimi, and plus a cooked dish with parts of the seafood that is not suitable for eating raw, so nothing goes to waste. Highly recommended for both visitors and people who live here. The fugu shirako tempura is to die for 😂 It tastes much better than the fancy sushi shop I had just yesterday.
Li L — Google review
Very fresh seafood. Atmosphere of the restaurant was great with fish tanks located in the middle of the restaurant. Food was cooked nicely. Highly recommended if you are visiting Fukuoka. Service was good with waitresses wearing kimono’s which gave the restaurant a Japanese cultural mood.
Nancy C — Google review
This is basically a restaurant set in a fish market! The seafood is so fresh and the menu is extensive - from sashimi to tempuras, fish roe congee and everything in between. Go for the bench seats - kind of like sitting in a sushi bar but with tanks of fresh seafood in your sight as you watch the chefs capture and get them prepared. Highly recommended.
Andrew P — Google review
Traditional style japanese seafood cuisine and service. High quality seafood with lots live tanks. We mistakenly ordered a set menu and a few extra things and ended up way too full. Lots to see and eat, I have never seen a live squid tank which was very cool. Worth a stop, would repeat
Victor C — Google review
The restaurant is so amazing. We sat in front of the counter and in front of the fish tank. We had omakase and it’s so much that we are all so full. The service is fantastic too
Kareen L — Google review
Fish tanks and squid pond within the restaurant. Pricey but high quality fare. Had dinner here on 13 April 2025. Four of us ordered a heartening meal of sashimi premium, porridge, unagi, tempura platter, pork buns, and two glasses of mei-jiu. Total bill came up to ¥22,000 per person.
Biyan T — Google review
I had the greatest sashimi experience there. Squid, different fish, etc Can't get any fresher, straight out the water.

Beautiful place to have weekend set lunch at 2,200yen (one option with some add-ons) - delicious and fresh sashimi. The chawanmushi is so soft and delicious!

Ramen restaurant
Izakaya restaurant
Shin Shin is a renowned ramen restaurant in Hakata, Fukuoka, known for its long queues and loyal local following. The establishment prides itself on preserving traditional recipes that have been passed down through generations. One of their signature dishes is the pork bone broth, simmered for over eight hours to achieve a rich and hearty soup base.
This ramen place always line up with people, and you normally have to wait 30 minutes on the day time. Today we went in at the odd hours, like 11:30pm and we waited about 10 minutes. The ramen is very thin, I suggest you order to cook with firm texture! The soup is very tasty, not very salty. I drank half of it. And you know that it’s natural taste of food. This used to be a street food stall, Japanese (やたい), Now it becomes a store! This is the culture
Andy C — Google review
Arrive there around 5:30pm, the seats are almost full, but lucky no need for waiting. The seating is a bit tight but that's the atomsphere and traditional style old ramen you expected at this price. The food served is fast and hot, no surprises for the dumplings, and fried rice but both are good. The noodle is the classic fine Fukuoka Hakata style with medium softness, but have the chewy stiffness texture, that go well with the soup that taste not too salty and oily and makes me finish the whole bowl. The fried ramen is also good with many vegetables and seafood. Value for money and good portion too.
Philip L — Google review
Really delicious tonkotsu ramen. Soup is very drinkable and sweet flavour like corn. The side of half size fried rice was so good, got good wok energy in there and the Gyoza is nice too. There is a queue at this place but not too long of a wait.
Brandon W — Google review
Marvelous ramen. Longer wait means better good. Don't be discouraged if the lines are long. Just grab a couple beer and chill in line.. Ramen is light and full of umami. Gyoza thin and flavorful.
Ken — Google review
The famous hakata ramen in Fukuoka and it certainly lived up to its expectations. The broth was rich and yet not overly heavy. Noodles were thinner than the usual ones and you can select the firmness of your noodles. And if you like it spicy, be sure to add the chilli oil and perhaps the garlic sauce too. The chilli oil was really good and somewhat similar to the Chinese style chilli oil.
Choon T — Google review
We went at 630pm on weekday. There’s a queue opposite the shop. Was seated within 10minutes. The ramen is relatively thin. Gyoza is good. Fried rice is just fried rice
Wen — Google review
DIE DIE MUST TRY!!!! A super duper Pork broth and Gyoza. Could have licked the bowl. Queue is super long but they open till 3:00am Totally worth the wait
Derrick R — Google review
Really good ramen spot, the 7k reviews already speak for themselves! Also don't be too afraid of the long queue, it moves quicker than it seems! I went here on a sunday at 6:30 pm and got seated within 20 minutes.

Ramen restaurant
Restaurant
Hakata Issou is a popular ramen spot in Fukuoka known for its hearty bowls of hakata-style thin noodles in thick, smooth pork broth and fried gyoza dumplings. The restaurant, opened by the Yamada brothers in 2012, prides itself on using fresh produce from local farmers to create their delicious soup.
About the best Hakata tonkotsu ramen you will find in the world. If you think you have had great tonkotsu ramen, go here and you will realise the levels of what is good and what is great. Long line but queue moves quickly. This is not a social visit, you eat, enjoy and leave ASAP.
Auspunk79 — Google review
The flavour is very different from what you get in generic Tokyo and ASEAN chains. I like it nonetheless. Clean and not too thick. Noodles were medium firm. Not too salty either. Very umami. We joined the queue at 1040 and already there were 30 people in front of us. We ate at 1120. But we noticed the queue was shorter at 2pm and also a lot shorter at 7pm (this was a Saturday) Service fast and good. Update: 5 ramens and 9 days later.... this is still my favourite ramen of the trip
James — Google review
Went on a Friday night around 7pm, from queue to food on the table was approximately an hour. Decent amount of seating. Staff ran the line very efficiently and once folks were seated the food was in front of you in less than 3 minutes. First time trying Hakata style ramen, it was delicious. Broth was very savory, earthy notes and I felt like I was smelling mushrooms (I don't think there are mushrooms involved but that's what I thought I was smelling lol wanted to mention this in case that might be off putting to another diner).
Maria P — Google review
One of the spots to have a good ramen in Fukuoka! Smelly but good! Not for the faint heart theyve got the best side dishes! And diy garlic crusher! Must try in Fukuoka! No lines when we went there! Tastes so good!
Fiona V — Google review
Still one of the best ramen I’ve eaten in Japan! The broth is rich and flavorful, noodles perfectly cooked, and every bite feels comforting and satisfying. The quality and consistency never disappoint. Definitely a must-visit for ramen lovers!
Rafael M — Google review
I could smell it half a block away and had to wait 20m to get in, so I expected it to be good. That was doubly confirmed when I sat down and had a container of garlic cloves and a garlic press seated next to me. Amazing thin, firm noodles in a frothy broth. I have no idea how they do it, but it's like drinking whipped cream. Pork was pretty tough but my god did the broth make up for it. The grit at the bottom of the bowl makes me think either niboshi, or ground bones were added, but damn it was good.
Anon Y — Google review
If it’s your first time trying authentic Hakata-style ramen, this will be a different kind of adventure. Be prepared to adjust your expectations—it’s not your usual ramen. The broth is rich, even creamy, with a flavor that borders on salty but still enjoyable. The noodles are firm, just the way I like them, and the egg was particularly tasty. The broth wasn’t exactly what I expected—it was heavier and richer, but not in a bad way. I don’t think it needs to be watered down, though it could be nicely balanced with a side of gyoza or fried rice. Many people say this is the number one Hakata ramen spot, and I agree. For me, it wasn’t love at first bite—maybe second or third—but the appeal grew on me. It has a certain charm. I wanted to savor it, but I felt rushed—maybe by the pace of the place or the pressure to eat quickly. I’m not sure. I just wish I had more time to really enjoy it.
Ja R — Google review
5 stars because Food- i like the broth. it has a unique smell and taste that either you like it or you hate it. So before entering. Take a deep breath. Like it, then spend and eat with no regrets. 😜 Service - this is not a high class restaurant. This is a smallish business place. Everything has to run like clockwise. So 1. Expect a q. 2. Respect the system. 3. Enjoy the food. (Ramen best to be eaten fast and hot). Its a benefit to know Japanese. When in doubt use google translate to help you. Then you will be fine. I rate 5 star here because i waited only 20 min from q to eat. I am happy. Atmosphere- clean and neat. Functional. I like Additional personal comment- maybe the price is pricier compared to other food. But i feel it is worth it because if the labour cost and food cost. Done- this is a must eat. 😌

Australian restaurant
Fusion restaurant
Restaurant
Bills Fukuoka is a popular casual dining restaurant with a cute atmosphere located in central Fukuoka City along the river. The eatery offers a variety of comfort food, including breakfast plates, steak sandwiches, pancakes, shakes, and smoothies. While there are limited vegan options available, the delicious food and great drinks make up for it. The restaurant's river-side terrace is dog-friendly and provides a lovely view of the canal.
Such an incredible setting and a really beautiful restaurant. The furniture and overall interior were so nice—it felt super stylish but still relaxed. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and really accommodating. We were a big group of 20, and they handled everything so well—orders came out on time and service was great. Most of the food was delicious, but the ricotta banana pancakes were an absolute standout—seriously unforgettable! A few dishes, like the chicken schnitzel, weren’t quite our favorite, but still decent. Overall, an awesome dining experience in a great spot.
Chip E — Google review
My last taste of bills was a cherished memory from Australia, over ten years ago. In all that time, I never forgot the sheer comfort of their famously fluffy pancakes and those incredible corn fritters. Visiting bills Fukuoka felt like a long-awaited homecoming. Naturally, I had to order the exact same classics that stole my heart a decade prior. The cloud-like pancakes and the corn fritters tasted just as phenomenal. It was incredibly satisfying to find the quality perfectly consistent after all this time. That iconic bills taste was wonderfully, reassuringly familiar. Yes, we did queue for about 20 minutes on a busy morning but it was absolutely worth the wait. The anticipation only made that bite of pancake even sweeter. The atmosphere was buzzing but welcoming, and the service was efficient once seated.
Sorlo S — Google review
I had Bills once when visiting Sydney in 2018. I liked it a lot. It was a pleasant surprise to know that there is Bills in Fukuoka. I told my husband that I wanted to try Bills in Japan, so we came for breakfast on an early Saturday morning. We got seated immediately without a reservation. The restaurant is beautiful, stylish with comfy seatings and relaxing vibe. We ordered the Ricotta hotcake, avocado with toasted Pain Stock sourdough, Yame matcha latte and koji milk spiced chai tea. Everything was absolutely amazing. I appreciated that our server told us in advance there would be a 20 minutes wait for the hotcake. Service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.
Quyen H — Google review
It’s not easy to find a restaurant where you may enjoy a full yummy breakfast and good quality coffee. In Japan, you may find good coffee, but they don’t serve full breakfast at the same time. So happy to dine in Bills where I get all I want. Good quality of everything.
Sau H — Google review
Servers asked for allergy and missed it in food- forgot about the drink we ordered as well. Usually a little more lenient but had high expectations as the food was super expensive. Portion size and quality of food did not justify prices. All drinks were above 1000 yen as well- everything was so expensive but nothing lived up to expectations the price. We got the ricotta hot cakes which were raved about and the fresh Aussie plate with the sourdough and some garlic mushrooms. I am lactose intolerant and the bread had butter on it and the mushrooms were greasily soaked in butter. Everything had cilantro on it as well, but was not listed in the menu. The butter was also not listed in anyway on the menu about the mushrooms. Overall a disappointing visit and would never go back again.
Karen L — Google review
Probably the best breakfast place I’ve found in all of Fukuoka after living here for 3 years. The pancakes are amazing. Fluffy. Got a full banana tucked underneath them to rest peacefully before it enters my mouth. The smoothie was great. The Aussie plate was a beast. Lots of food too. Japan often times has small portions. This had me full. Definately pricier than other places but it’s worth it. S’good!
Stockton W — Google review
Came here for the hype. When we arrived there’s a short queue. Waited for 5 minutes for a table. Friendly service by the wait staff. Ordered avocado toast and also their famous fluffy pancakes with banana. 20 minutes wait for the pancakes. To be honest for the exorbitant price, food didn’t taste great. Just mediocre at best. 950yen for a cup of latte. Ridiculous. Tourist trap place.
Kiwiez M — Google review
Outstanding! The best pancakes I’ve ever had - worth every penny! The pancakes are larger and more filling than they look in photos, but you’ll still be left craving more. The latte was super good, and the full Aussie breakfast was phenomenal. The two plates together are a perfect balance between savory and sweet. We make another reservation before we left :)

Yakitori restaurant
Kawaya is an intimate yakitori restaurant known for its down-to-earth atmosphere and delicious grilled skewers. The specialty here is "kawayaki," which are skewers made with the skin from a chicken's neck. These skewers have gained popularity for their fragrant and crispy exterior, paired with a juicy and flavorful inside. Featured on TV, this eatery has garnered a loyal following of customers who can devour up to 30 skewers in one sitting.
We had a great time here! We ate a few different skewers and had some beers. With a price of 143 (including tax) it is very well priced. The skewers are really well made and the beer is served ice cold. We would recommend to get the Torikawa, Torimi and Bara. Those were our favorites. Torikawa (chicken skin) is probably the most popular by far seeing how much is prepared. The skewers are basically made right in front of you and the chicken skin is crispy and delicious. The place was mostly filled with locals and had a great vibe to it. Also loved the service, the staff is very friendly!

Yakitori restaurant
Fujiyoshi is a popular and unpretentious restaurant known for its specialty in yakitori, sushi, shared plates, and cocktails. Despite being consistently busy, the fantastic yakitori and the option to order set menus or "omakase" provide delightful surprises. Even those who typically avoid inner chicken parts have been pleasantly surprised by the offerings at Fujiyoshi. With a long-standing reputation for excellence and reasonable prices, this establishment continues to impress patrons with its quality dining experience.
This was our second visit to Fujiyoshi - I highly recommend making a reservation. If you don't speak or read Japanese, you will probably have a tough time here. It seemed quite busy when we we arrived, and they seemed ready to reject us at the door. Luckily, we made a reservation a week prior. The food was great. I recommend the Gomasaba. They also had oysters in ponzu on special that were really good. Will come back next time we're in Fukuoka !
David S — Google review
Came on a Wednesday night - due to state of emergency the place was empty. Searched for yakitori on Google maps and it led me here but It's more of a izakaya to me as it has many other items than yakitori such as sashimi and other fish dishes. Food was ok and the service was good but place was showing its age. Found it slightly pricey for what you get. If your hunting a decent yakitori would say keep looking
Boss — Google review
Very busy place, but fantastic yakitori. Just order the set or "omakase" and you will get a great surprise. I usually don't like inner parts of chicken but here, I changed my mind...!

Do not go to this place if you are from out of town. We came to this place on a recommendation and showed up only to be told they were full. There were 10 places at the counter we could see. They clearly hate tourists. Very disappointed.
Ryan H — Google review
A Yakitori restaurant that’s been running for a long time. It’s been always good and still very good. Reasonably priced too.
AS — Google review
We really enjoyed this yakitori restaurant. When we were there, everyone (or at least most people) were locals, which is a good sign. Decent selection of grilled meats cooked in front of you. Busy with a lively atmosphere.
Anthony H — Google review
Booked this place as it use to be a Bib Gourmad recommentation. Very busy on a Sunday night with a lot of japanese locals. Staff quite friendly and had english menu. Shame the yakitori isn't cooked over a hibachi grill, but the food still tasted great and there was a lot of variety of chicken/beef and seafood izakaya dishes as well Bit on the pricey side, however after paying we realise they had some set menu's on the wall, but it was all in japanese. Overall a great yakitori joint to check out if your staying in Nakasu area (around 10min walk). Spent around 7000Y for drinks and approx 15 yakitori sticks.
Pat C — Google review
Skewers here were great, the stand out was the liver. The intestines were also very good and tender. The service was very nice, the sashimi chef I believe spoke some English and conversed with us for a bit.

Offal pot cooking restaurant
Hot pot restaurant
Hakata Motsunabe Oyama is a must-visit spot in Fukuoka, known for serving the traditional hotpot dish called motsunabe. This hearty stew features pork or beef offal and an assortment of vegetables cooked in a flavorful broth. The restaurant offers various soup flavors such as soy sauce, miso, and salt to complement the tender offal from black beef sourced from Kagoshima.
I ordered the set meal. The horse sashimi is highly recommended, it is nicely seasoned. Motsunabe is on the salty side, compared to the one I tried at other restaurant
Karen C — Google review
This is so far the best meal I had here in Fukuoka. I ordered the Motsunabe (Offal Hotpot) and it tastes so good. The serving size is also big. The staff are very accommodating as well.
Willamae Y — Google review
Definitely get the miso broth as they recommend. The broth is deep and rich flavored. The cabbage is refreshing and delicious as they were slowly soaking up the broth as you cook your hotpot.
Kurtis L — Google review
Never expected horse meat to be so delicious but the unique combo of stock, soup and ingredients made it an unforgettable experience. Will be back!

Had lunch there at around 2pm, was seated quite promptly by the friendly staff there. Ordered the Ooyama set for 1 pax along with a side of horse sashimi and drinks to share with my partner, total price came up to be around 6,000 yen. Enjoyed the meal a lot, especially the soup which was very hearty. Definitely recommend trying it if you have the chance and are okay with motsu. Horse sashimi was good as well, especially when coupled with the Kyushu soy sauce provided by the store.

I think my favorite restaurants are all places where the food I didn't like turned out to be delicious and turned into my favorite food. The Inari-san, rolled sushi, mackerel sushi, and shrimp pressed sushi here are the best. Even though I didn't like Inari-san, the balance between the sweet taste and the wasabi here was perfect. It's a little sweet for an Inari shrine, so I can't recommend it if you don't like sweets 😂 This can be taken out, so I take it home with me. It's always crowded at lunchtime. It's super popular. As everyone has written, I've never had it made at the counter, so I don't know, but the taste is really great. Excellent freshness. Ever since I was little, I've only ever been to sushi restaurants that I didn't go to (I'm guessing there wasn't any sushi that I went to when I was little), but I've never been to a sushi restaurant like Edomae sushi where the flavors are matched to the ingredients. I haven't had it before, so it's very fresh and I like it. Moreover, it's not super expensive, so I recommend this restaurant within the price range where you can easily go for sushi! My feeling is 4.5 stars! Bistro
Restaurant
"Yorgo" is a renowned bistro-style restaurant in Fukuoka, known for its delectable dishes and natural wines. The owner, with experience in France, offers a menu featuring the signature "rare cutlet of beef filet," which has captivated many patrons with its umami-packed special sauce. The cozy and spacious setting at the counter provides an ideal atmosphere for dining or enjoying drinks.
I visited Yorgo twice in my short stay in Fukuoka, and it was the best gourmet experience I’ve had in my travels to Japan so far! Hidden behind its own gyoza restaurant, Yorgo is a Japanese-French open-kitchen restaurant filled with energy, passion and professionalism. From the amazingly delicious Octopus Avocado Salad, sea urchin and potato to the rare beef fillet cutlet, all the dishes were top-notch and finely executed. I have never been so overwhelmed by every single dish in a restaurant in Japan! What’s more impressive was the pleasure of watching chef Kawase san effortlessly handling different ingredients in front of me, while attending to my needs whenever possible. He was very friendly and humble. I loved every wine he introduced as well. Everything about this restaurant topped the bar and I would recommend everyone to check it out when you next visit the city!
Yvonne T — Google review
We found this place thanks to a Google Maps suggestion for good restaurants near our hotel. It turned out to be a hidden gem tucked behind a gyoza shop — to get to Yorgo, you actually have to walk through the gyoza restaurant. We walked in without a reservation and were lucky to get a table, as the place was packed. If you’re going with a larger group, it’s probably best to make a reservation in advance. The kitchen is open and located at the center, with diners seated around the counter, watching the chefs prepare each dish. The food was exceptional, the service warm and attentive, and the wine selection excellent. The restaurant also had thoughtful touches like wall hooks for coats and storage space under the counter for bags. We were pleasantly surprised to find power outlets under the table — a rare convenience for charging phones. The only thing that left us slightly puzzled was the portioning. We clearly ordered one plate per dish, but most of them arrived as two plates. Only two or three dishes were presented as a single plate at first — presumably so we could take photos — before being split into two. At first, we thought about checking with the staff, but the food was so delicious that we told ourselves, “Even if it was a mix-up, it’s worth it.” It’s rare to enjoy French cuisine this refined in Japan.
Khue H — Google review
Good food but terrible hygiene. First off, the food is pretty decent. We really enjoyed the cutlet steak (super tender) and the uni shredded potato. HOWEVER, the hygiene of the chefs ruined the meal for us. It is an open concept kitchen where there is bar seating around the stoves in the middle, and the chefs serve you. There were MULTIPLE instances where the chefs used a spoon to sample the taste, and then put the spoon away without washing or rinsing it. They would then reuse that same spoon to sample other dishes before serving it to customers. If a bit of extra flavour from a stranger’s saliva doesn’t bother you, then this restaurant is the place for you!

I go to this restaurant since they opened many years ago. I’ve never been disappointed. Opened kitchen, the food is tasty, all made in front of you like a show. Yakiniku restaurant
Meat dish restaurant
"Yakiniku Sudou Haruyoshi" is a relaxed spot in Hakata, offering traditional meat dishes grilled at the table. The owner, who previously worked at a renowned Tokyo restaurant, prepares a wagyu yakiniku full-course meal that is considered the most delicious in Kyushu. Each table is assigned a professional "yaki-shi" to prepare the yakiniku, ensuring that even newcomers can enjoy top-quality meat without stress.
Haruyoshi is a delightful gem! The food is exquisitely prepared, showcasing authentic Japanese flavors that tantalize the taste buds. Each dish is a work of art. The service is impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff who make you feel right at home. A truly wonderful dining experience! Highly recommended!

Vivien L — Google review
Yakiniku Sudo serves A5 Black Wagyu beef at a semi-private seating at each table. A staff will be grilling the full set menu for customers. The misuji (ribeye cap) is cut into 8–10 mm slices with visible marbling; 20–30 seconds per side produces a seared crust while the interior fat liquifies. The tongue is sliced to 1 mm and cooks in 10–12 seconds, yielding a crisp edge and tender center. Kalbi and harami are trimmed of excess connective tissue and served at 4–6 °C to maintain fat firmness until grilling. Staff replace grill meshes after every two rounds of meat, replenish charcoal every 15 minutes, and adjust ventilation as needed. Servers demonstrate sukiyaki egg preparation and provide tare, lemon, and salt on request within 60 seconds. Banchan include cucumber kimchi, braised lotus root, and spinach with sesame; a yuzu sorbet is offered as a palate cleanser. Portion sizes, cut quality, and service timing are consistent across visits. Prices reflect reasonably on customer service level and beef quality.

Messy staff communication with customer. We arrived at the restaurant, and the staff informed us about a campaign offering a free drink. We kept asking for details about the campaign, and the staff answered all our questions. After completing the required task, we proceeded to pay the bill. However, the staff did not mention anything about the free drink. It was only after we checked the bill that we noticed the drink wasn't comped. When we asked, they told us the campaign had already ended. It felt like they were tricking customers into leaving reviews. This instantly left a very bad impression. (On a side note, the staff who served us during the meal was very nice, and the food quality was quite good.) Unfortunately, the overall experience was greatly spoiled in the end. My disappointment stems entirely from the staff's misleading practice, not the value of a free drink.
SZE N — Google review
This is the set for 16500 yen. The beef does not taste very good and I believe it is largely due to the sauce. Each of the pieces was paired with some sauce but I have to say most of them do not match too well. Have had better experience with this price. This restaurant is 3.98 on tabelog so we are quite surprised.
Ming — Google review
It seems that good reviews have led to the owners of the restaurant taking off a bit. You can't visit the restaurant alone - so all soloists: please make a reservation and take a homeless person with you. I find it negative when individual customers are not appreciated - hence this one star. I can't judge the taste. I went to NIKUMARU, a few doors down. They are more relaxed and the food there is excellent.

Ramen restaurant
Hakata Ramen ShinShin Fukuoka PARCO is a must-visit destination for ramen enthusiasts seeking an authentic taste of Kyushu. Renowned for its rich tonkotsu broth, which is meticulously simmered to perfection, this eatery serves up thin, straight noodles that complement the savory soup beautifully.
Shin Shin Noodles truly lives up to its reputation as one of the top 3 most famous ramen shops in Fukuoka! I’ve heard the wait at their main store can take 1-1.5 hours on average, so I decided to visit their Parco Store basement location on a weekday afternoon. It was a great decision—I only had to wait about 10 minutes before getting in. I tried their ramen with a half portion of fried rice, and both were absolutely fantastic. What stood out the most was the rich and flavorful pork bone broth—it’s easily one of the best I’ve had. Highly recommend visiting this spot, and if you want to avoid a long wait, the Parco location is a great alternative!
D C — Google review
The queue is always long here, so be prepared to wait—but it’s worth it! Best time to go is between 2–5pm when it’s quieter. The noodles are the thin kind and super tasty. The soup is rich, thick, and flavorful—though a bit on the salty side for my taste. English menu available, which makes ordering easy. Overall, a great spot for ramen lovers!
LoveEat L — Google review
Excellent Ramen shop where many locals go to as well. Don‘t be afraid of a long queue, we has to wait only 20 minutes for a queue of roughly 40 people. This seems to be the only ShinShin open during lunch, as all the other branches only open at dinnertime.
Joris C — Google review
Best Hakata ramen! Only $820Yen for a standard ramen and you get to choose the softness of the noddle. Love my soft and very thin noodle. Soup is rich but not oily or salty at all. Will definitely come back again!
Tina T — Google review
We first tried to visit the Tenjin branch (the one not inside the mall) on a Saturday around 1:30 PM, but the line was crazy—about an hour-long wait under the heat. Thankfully, we found out there’s another Shin Shin branch inside Parco Mall just nearby, and the queue there was much more manageable—only about a 20-minute wait for two people. I’m not usually a big fan of ramen, but I really enjoyed Shin Shin’s version. It’s lighter and less creamy compared to Ichiran, which I personally prefer. One thing to note: unlike Ichiran, you order through the staff and there’s no option to customize your broth or noodles. But honestly, it wasn’t a dealbreaker for me. Oh—and don’t skip the fried rice, it’s really good :) Definitely worth trying if you’re in Fukuoka, especially since you can only find Shin Shin Ramen here!
Tita P — Google review
It takes a little effort to find this shop. It’s located at B1F of Parco 本館, not the other Parco 新館. From the reviews, it should be crowded. Perhaps I was fortunate as there was no queue on a Monday evening. It’s really salty, it’s very flavourful and has a strong soup based from tonkotsu. I can understand why diners love it for its strong yet very salty base. I could not finish the soup. The stir fried rice was also really salty, combining it with the soup made it doubly salty in my opinion. I saw some lady diners managed to finish the ramen and the rice, but left the soup almost untouched. Perhaps it’s meant to be this way, for the soup to coat the ramen.. because I saw someone who drank much of the soup said it was so salty they had to drink a lot of water to feel better. The best thing I had here was the stir fried ramen with mentaiko which I ordered for takeout which was recommended by the staff. Surprisingly, it wasn’t salty and tasted just perfect and moist. Again the noodle was really good. I also really enjoyed the service of the staff of this shop. It was really very pleasant experience because they were attentive and cheerful, especially staff by the name of 赤星. She is a young staff but really bothered to listen to customers and bothers to smile. She also speaks some English which is helpful though ordering process is simple. The atmosphere and process was also good because the staff take the orders, unlike other ramen shops where they use machines instead, which is a major turn off in terms of service element. I hope the restaurant continues to improve and take feedback from customers to make it better.
Abb T — Google review
Taste good, it's clean broth style, I like it, not too salty, just on point. Luckily we visited after the peak hours, no line and no wait at 3pm. Price is reasonable, staff service is standard.
Yu L — Google review
The line looked intimidating because it wrapped around the corner, but the wait was only ~30 minutes on a Sunday during lunch time. There are also stools to make the wait more bearable. The Zenbu-Nose Ramen 全部のせらーめん Firm (¥1110) was very good. I do not gravitate toward ramen when it comes to Japanese cuisine, but I liked this ramen. The meat had an interesting, subtle sweetness to it that I liked, and the broth was not overly salty like other ramens that I have had.

Offal pot cooking restaurant
Champon noodle restaurant
Hot pot restaurant
Motsunabe Rakutenchi Hakata-2 BR is a beloved local hot pot dish in Fukuoka, Japan. It features beef or pork giblets carefully cleaned and simmered in a strong broth of soy sauce or miso, creating a rich and bold flavor. Typically served with cabbage, garlic, chives, and togarashi peppers in a shallow pot at the table, this slightly spicy stew is enjoyed with white rice.
This was an excellent experience, especially for a first time eater of Motsunabe. They even took the time to mix ours for us and show us the ideal cooking times! Flavor was excellent and very clean - none of the gamey "organy-ness" of offal cuts back home in the US. Even if you are usually someone who strays away from offal, I think this is worth trying.

Pleasantly surprised how delicious offal pot is! As this was our first time in Fukuoka, we wanted to give offal pot a try but had no expectations on how it would taste like. A single serving plus an extra order of meat was just the right amount to keep us full (we are light eaters). The staff are extremely nice and offered to take a picture of us after bringing the pot over. This seems to be a service for everyone who comes! Overall, great experience and nice calm atmosphere!

Since it was our first visit to Fukuoka, we really wanted to try the famous motsunabe hotpot and see what the hype was about. We didn’t quite know what to expect, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise! One serving, along with an extra order of tofu and a bowl of rice, was just enough to fill us up (we’re light eaters). The staff were incredibly kind and even offered to take a photo of us once the hotpot was served, it seems like they do this for everyone, which is such a nice touch! Overall, a wonderful dining experience with a cozy and relaxing atmosphere.

The price was quite reasonable, so I thought it would be a relaxing place for adults only, but then a group of customers with small children came next to us and started yelling a lot, which ruined the atmosphere a bit, which was disappointing.

Kappo Sushi Hanaaza is a distinguished restaurant in Fukuoka that beautifully blends traditional Japanese sushi with subtle influences from Chinese cuisine. Led by three talented chefs—Matsuhata Koji, who comes from a lineage of culinary experts, and Dai Shungo and Tamura Hikaru, both skilled in French and Italian cooking—their diverse backgrounds create an exceptional dining experience.
Come here with no reservation with my family as we were just strolling around and they managed to find a quiet table for us, well, what a surprise!!! Went for the course menu (the "ume" I guess) and it was superb. Presentation was great, they tried their best to explain everything in English, fish was first class, atmosphere was quiet and cozy, all was really top notch. Great value. Thanks everyone for the wonderful evening.

Solid swanky sushi spot. Had a great time learning about the foods in our omakase with the young head chef/owner (and all the food names in DBZ lmao). Sake and wine selection was delicious. We were able to try a wine from Kumamoto that was not on the menu. A standout dish was the Korean saba (chosen for being oilier and denser compared to its Japanese counterpart) smoked with Japanese walnut, as well as the use of aged Chinese vinegar for the sushi rice (made to complement the firmer fish style used in Fukuoka). I enjoyed the well thought out dishes and experience.

Truly impressed me with its incredibly fresh ingredients and the owner’s evident passion for authentic cuisine. Every dish reflects meticulous care and attention to detail. The sashimi is pristine, and you can taste the quality in every bite. The owner’s dedication to traditional preparation methods really shows. just hope business continues to flourish .

Food is delicious, nice environment and very convenience location which is next to Akasaka subway station west exit 2, then walk less than a min. Also, one of the chef can speak mandarin. Highly recommend to who would like omakase

Went for a lunch Omakase course(booked in advanced). Even tho it was quite far away from my accommodation, I really wanted to try not only reviews looked great but also rather than waiting long time in popular sushi shop in Hakata station. Interior wise, it was really neat and fancy, however it seemed staff didn’t plan where to assign one person for seating. I’ve got a counter seat in front of beautiful salt decoration however chefs seemed not happy and confused why am I occupying this seat. Eventually moved to end of counter seat which I got uncomfortable feeling as well despite not even started the course. But staff were kind. Move onto the food part, entree, sushi courses, and dessert were fabulous. Sushi chef tried to explain in Korean as much as he could and sushi itself had good enough amount of rice, nice tare soy on top, and good quality of fish fillets were served. Dessert was almond pudding and it was delicious that I’ve never tried before. Worth to visit if your accommodation is not too far and looking for quiet, neat and good quality of sushi.

Tonkatsu restaurant
Located in the Shinshigai Shopping Street of Kumamoto's city center, Katsuretsu Tei is a well-known pork cutlet eatery. The restaurant is popular among locals for its high-quality pork dishes. While some diners found the pork loin to be tender but slightly dry, others were less impressed with the deep-fried oysters.
This Tonkatsu is truly Michelin-worthy. Absolutely delicious! The pork was clearly properly bled, so there’s no unpleasant smell. Even though they used a tougher cut of meat, it was surprisingly tender — you can really feel how much care the chef puts into it.
Google J — Google review
Atsuage Kurobuta roast-katsu zen is superb. Katsu is tender and juicy with the right amount of fat to meat ratio. White rice is fluffy and goes very well with the katsu. Only downside is the cabbage which isn’t as juicy and refreshing.
Randy N — Google review
I was really skeptical before dining as the reviews were mixed. Came at 445pm and there’s still a queue. Waited for about 30 mins for the table and 20 mins for food. Theres plenty of empty seats but not enough staff to clear the tables and move the queue. There’s also 150 yen difference between English menu and Japanese menu. So we referred to the Japanese menu. The meat was surprisingly tender and melt in your mouth. Wasn’t expecting the tenderness. Worth the experience if you don’t mind waiting. Come early! And by 8pm all the queue slots would have been snapped up
Grace T — Google review
I give this restaurant 5 out of 5 stars. I ordered menu 1, the classic pork loin tonkatsu set. The cutlet itself is outstanding. The coating is very crisp and light, but not hard, and the meat inside is juicy, tender and full of clean pork flavour. There is a gentle richness from the fat, but it never becomes heavy. This is the kind of tonkatsu that reminds you why this dish can be a favourite for years. What makes the meal truly special is everything that comes with it and the way you are guided to eat it. You receive a bowl with sesame seeds and a small wooden pestle. Grinding the sesame at the table already smells wonderful. When you mix these freshly ground seeds with the house Japanese Wafu sauce, you get a deep, nutty and slightly fruity tonkatsu sauce that clings perfectly to the meat. Add a little of the sharp yellow mustard horseradish and the flavour opens up even more. One bite of pork with this sesame Wafu sauce and mustard already feels very complete. The cabbage salad on the side is very finely shredded and extremely fresh. It gives crunch and lightness to every bite. I used the yuzu dressing for the cabbage. This dressing has a bright citrus aroma, gentle acidity and a little sweetness, so it cuts through the richness of the pork and keeps the meal balanced. Rice and miso soup complete the set. The rice is glossy, sticky in the right way and seasoned just enough by the sauces you let drip onto it. The miso soup is on the darker side, pleasantly salty, with a comforting depth rather than just plain broth. There are also Japanese pickles and grated daikon on the table. The pickles bring a classic sour and salty contrast. Even if you do not eat many of them, they show how carefully the set is put together. The grated daikon works beautifully with the sauces and with the pork if you want a fresher, lighter bite. The variety of condiments on the table lets you create many different versions of tonkatsu during one meal, from rich and sweet to bright and sharp, and all of them work. The atmosphere is warm and cosy with dark wood tables and all the bottles and small pots arranged in front of you. It feels like a place that takes tonkatsu very seriously but still stays relaxed. The staff are incredibly efficient and kind at the same time. Tables are cleaned and reset almost immediately, orders move from kitchen to guests with impressive speed, and still the servers remain attentive and friendly. You can feel that the whole team knows exactly what they are doing. This meal reminded me why tonkatsu used to be my absolute favourite food and it brought that feeling back completely. Perfectly fried meat, carefully chosen sauces, fresh sides and a very professional but warm service. For anyone who loves tonkatsu or wants to understand how good it can be, this restaurant is an essential visit.
Paul O — Google review
Absolutely worth the wait! Although the queue usually takes around an hour, I was lucky to get a seat within 20 minutes. The tonkatsu was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy inside — one of the best I’ve ever had in Japan. Definitely recommended for anyone who loves authentic tonkatsu!
Joon T — Google review
The Tonkatsu served here is absolutely delicious, the pork cutlet is cooked just right retaining the softness and juiciness on the inside with a light crispy batter on the outside 😋 You must try this if you are in Kumamoto!
KC C — Google review
So good that we didn't even take pictures. Free tea refills (there's a carafe at your table). Free Cabbage, miso, and rice refills. The tenderloin donkatsu was the best since we liked the leaner cut and more meat. The yuzu sherbert was really refreshing and Fruity, pretty icy tho. My boyfriend liked the black sesame ice cream because it was so creamy and reminded him of oreo ice cream. They were extremely busy and were a bit slow with us due to the heavy flow of patrons. But overall it was great service and lots of English menu options and speakers. Making the sauce was fun the Japanese style
Allison L — Google review
Whilst i’m not a Tonkatsu person, this has got to be the best i’ve ever eaten so far. The selection of condiments and sauces that pairs super well with the katsu is amazing, it’s having a totally different taste profile unlock every single bite. I went early dinner, so there wasn’t much of a queue, but it does take awhile after being seated for the main to arrive - but was it worth the wait? Totally! Definitely will return whenever i’m back in Kumamoto!

Jigokumushikobo Kannawa is a renowned restaurant in Beppu, offering the traditional "hell-steaming" method of cooking food using thermal spring steam. This unique style of cooking utilizes the natural heat from geothermal energy to steam a variety of ingredients such as meat, seafood, and vegetables. The restaurant is located near the Jigoku Meguri and is a popular choice for visitors looking to experience this ancient cooking technique.
Interesting experience, DIY to cook your own meals with geothermal steam from beppu hotsprings. Fresh and healthy steamed meal, clam in butter cooked in geothermal steam was noteworthy, together with steam the butter became a light butter sauce to go with other steamed items. Other item raved was the seasoned rice wrapped in leaf. The flat udon noodles with miso was good too, it completes a hearty meal with the family. For those who need a stronger flavor kick, sprinkle a light amount of salt brings out the flavors more. Parking just behind the restaurant.

Start by taking a queue number at the reception. Then line up to select your order from the machines. Make payment there. Wait till your number is called by the reception prior to handing your meal tickets to them. This will be followed by getting timers from them and collecting your food. Followed the number indicated to head to the steamer area. Staff will hand you protective gear to insert the food into the steamer. When the timer rings, head back to collect the food. Extra costs for different types of sauces. Yuzu pepper sauce tasted good. Free seating. Credit card allowed. Free parking

Awesome unique experience. Glad i was there with few people, so when i arrived i was able.to order immediately. To my rush, i ordered a meal for 2 :( Steamed foods are fresh and taste good. My only critique is that eventhough i don't order meal with shrimp. It tasted and smells like shrimp. But overall i had fun experience here
EC C — Google review
Food was ok but the waiting time was long. First, you get a queue number. Then you order you food on the ticket machine. And you wait for you queue to be called. While purchasing the food, you need to purchase the mandatory basket for steaming 🤔. When your number is called, you present your food tickets and collect your food. Then proceed to the steam counters to have your food steam for 15 mins. Limited parking lots available and there isn't any paid parking nearby. For the novelty of steaming your own food, ok la. Otherwise, there's better food options around the area. 😉
Choon T — Google review
That sounds like such a unique and fun dining experience! A restaurant where you can steam your own food using hot spring water is definitely something special. It combines the joy of cooking with the excitement of trying something new. The process of ordering from ahř⁶ vending machine, collecting your food, and then steaming it yourself adds a personal touch to the meal
Tom L — Google review
Came on Sunday and parking was difficult. We made many turns and finally saw some people leaving the parking. We had to take a number which is 90mins wait. With that, we can order our meals and wait for our turn to collect food for steaming. I find the food alright. Prawns seemed over cooked.
Wen — Google review
Enjoyed this place where you can steam your own food with the geothermal steam from the hot spring. Just purchase the meal coupons (I ordered set 2 and 17) and a ¥40 steaming fee coupon from the vending machine and get a number from the reception. When your number is called, pass your meal coupons to the counter and they will prepare the ingredients for you. It’s free-seating so after securing your seat, you bring your tray of ingredients to the steaming area according to the number on the timer provided. There, the staff will guide you through the process of wearing thick gloves and steaming your food for about 15 mins. They provide salt and ponzu as complimentary condiments but if you prefer other condiments like sesame sauce, you’ll need to add additional ¥200 per sauce.

Offal pot cooking restaurant
Restaurant
Yamanaka Akasaka is an upscale restaurant known for its exquisite offal pot cooking and high-quality seafood sourced from the Genkai Sea and Hakata bay. The chefs personally select the seafood and craft their own special soy sauce, paying great attention to detail in their dishes. The restaurant's sleek and modern facade leads to an interior that combines Japanese aesthetic with a comfortable atmosphere. Yamanaka aims to showcase the local flavors of the Hakata area through its highly experienced sushi chefs.
The interior of the restaurant is surprisingly spacious and there are plenty of spaces between each table. The signature motsu nabe is absolutely delicious. The beef intestine is fresh and free of any unpleasant odor. The miso based soup is full of umami. The small dishes as part of the set meal are also excellent, especially the boiled beef tongue with daikon.

The restaurant is conveniently located near the metro stations and is very spacious with a pleasant atmosphere. The Motsunabe was delicious; we found the flavors of the beef offal to be rich, especially the fats, and it paired well with the miso soup. Overall, it was a very good dining experience, and we would definitely recommend it to those who want to try Motsunabe in Hakata.

Available to choose from 3 kinds of Motsu- nabe taste, but please don't hesitate to choose the miso flavor. You won't regret it! Reservations are essential!

Incredible miso based motsunabe!!! No wonder the restaurant called it a secret recipe through trial and error, as it was absolutely addictive and delicious. I could have it every week especially in the winter! Their plate of vegetables, especially the soft boiled tofu, were very tasty when blended with the soup. I also ordered their Boiled Tongue and Stewed Daikon. Again, it was stewed in the restaurant’s secret miso recipe, and the tenderness of the beef tongue was heavenly! This is one of my favourite restaurants in Fukuoka and I would definitely return next time!!
Yvonne T — Google review
Very fancy and a bit upscale for a motsunabe place, but the soup is very very tasty. We tried the miso base, and would love to try the other two next time.

It may feel a little upscale for motsunabe but yes, definitely worth it for the foods, service, and ambiance here. The udon at the end to the nabe broth was absolutely tasty.

Amazing hot pot restaurant! Learned about this place from a travel blogger, and was not disappointed. The hot pot is a little on the pricey side, but it's absolutely worth it. We had the miso base and loved it. The miso is the classic and most recommend base to get, but there are a few other options. The atmosphere of the restaurant is quite lovely and the staff was very friendly and nice :)

Udon noodle restaurant
Udon Taira is a Fukuoka-style udon restaurant known for its tender and chewy noodles, which differ from the firmer Sanuki udon found throughout Japan. One of their popular dishes is the 'gobo-ten,' featuring crispy fried gobo (burdock) on top of the udon. The delicate flavors from the broth are absorbed by the fried tempura batter, creating an incredibly delicious bite.
Got there 10 mins before 11 and still had to wait around 5 mins to get seated, get there fast! Tempura burdock in by beef udon was so so delicious. You can also see the chef pulling the noodles in front of you. Soft and chewy noodles!
Sue L — Google review
Ordered the cold udon. Chewy and al dente. Delicious with the dipping sauce. Had the beef topping which I thoroughly enjoyed - thin tender succulent braised beef slices topped with lots of green onions. I added some yuzu kosho- wow!!! The burdock tempura was a slight let down. Crispy but oily. Overall I had a fantastic meal for JPY 800. There was an older lady behind the counter who was absolutely cheerful and welcoming. She might be the owner?

Arrived 20 minutes before opening and got in right away. Had the meat with burdock tempura udon - absolutely outstanding for taste and price. The staff were very helpful once they discovered I could speak Japanese and helped me get in quickly (not skipping the line, just the machine). Loved to see the kitchen staff working to push the food out quickly. Would definitely come here again.

Yummy! We got there at 11am when the restaurant open and got a seat right away (but there was a line before it opened). The tempura burdock was delicious! Highlight is definitely the soft and chewy fresh udon!
Rung V — Google review
This udon place was recommended to me by a local so I gave it a try. They're only open from 11am-3pm. The line to get in can get long, but it moves fast. After being seated, they took my order and wait time was about 10 minutes. Serving was big so I was not able to finish it all. The udon noodles were cooked just right. Soup was a bit bland for my liking (I got the egg drop soup with beef and burdock tempura).

Ganso Hakata Mentaiju is a trendy restaurant located in Nakasu, featuring stylish timber interiors spread across three floors. The establishment specializes in mentaiko cod roe dishes and dipping ramen, both of which are local specialties in Fukuoka. Guests can savor the unique mentaiko set that includes rice and tsukemen, along with other delicious options on the menu. While the prices may be on the higher side, visitors appreciate the attentive service provided by the staff.
Visited on a Tuesday morning at around 9:30am. I was the second in line which took about 10 minutes before getting in. This is the craziest breakfast I ever had. I ordered the set with Tsuke-men and mentaiju over rice. Oh my gosh, I wish I had a big capacity stomach. The dipping soup was so rich make each slurp of noodles so sensational. I was full after the noodle but I could not stop eating the mentaiju on rice. Not too salty, very tasty 😋 You must visit or you have not been Fukuoka truly

Famous mentaiko specialist in the Nakasu area. Service is good and there is large indoor waiting area so you don’t have to queue outside in the heat. Went there during lunch time on a weekday and waited for less than 10 minutes Not sure if this qualifies as a ramen shop, but I ordered the mentaiko tsukemen; the noodles are chewy and slippery, and goes well with the mentaikao sauce. The pudding is also quite nice.

【Mentaiko Specialty Shop in Fukuoka Nakasu: Juicy Umami & Language-Friendly Gem】 During my trip to Fukuoka, I stumbled upon this "Must-Try List" restaurant tucked in an alley near Nakasu Kawabata Station 🍣. The moment I saw the wooden-framed lantern with "めんたい重" (Mentaiko Donburi) glowing, I knew I’d found a winner—it’s a mentaiko specialty shop, and even the paper lantern above the door exudes a warm, homey vibe 🍜. I went straight for their signature Mentaiko Donburi: served with crispy nori that shimmers, the mentaiko is coated in white sesame and green laver. One bite, and it’s a "pop" of juiciness—no overwhelming saltiness, just rich umami balanced with a hint of natural sweetness. The granular texture coats your tongue, and even the tiny nori crumbs pack a savory punch. That said, I found the flavor a bit bold and salty, so pairing it with rice is a must 🍚. I also added a bowl of Mentaiko Ramen on a whim: the broth is rich and savory, and slurping the thin noodles coated in broth offers a different texture than the donburi—creamy vs. hearty. No wonder this shop has been around in Nakasu for 10 years; it clearly hits the spot for locals 👅. 📒 Practical Tips: 1. We got a table right away when we walked in—no wait time for us! 2. They have Chinese menus, so you can just point to what you want. No Japanese needed—perfect for introverts or language learners. 3. For the Mentaiko Donburi, add an extra serving of nori flakes—it doubles the crunch! Highly recommend for mentaiko lovers exploring Nakasu. It’s a no-fuss spot with authentic flavors and zero language stress—exactly what you need when wandering around Fukuoka!

Love the interior design. We came at 9pm on a Sunday, no line up. Very friendly staff. We ordered everything on the menu. The mentaijko was amazing, huge fan. The tsukemen is a close second. Both were fantastic. Loved also adding the broth in the end to finish it off as a soup. The pudding is legendary. Basically a caramel jelly panna cotta.

Must eat mentaiko in fukuokaaaaa. Glad I had it here because it’s so so good. Got the set with both the rice and tsukemen to try everything and that’s definitely the way to go! The tsukemen is rich and savoury with bouncy noodles but of course my favorite was the mentaiko rice with seaweed. So umami rich and well balanced throughout.

We arrived at 6pm and queued up for half an hour. The restaurant is well decorated and has a great ambiance! I ordered the rice box and a pudding, my partner ordered the udon and also two extra raw and roasted mentaiko. Based on personal preference and also compared to our previous experience, both of us find the mentaiko here is quite salty, so pairing with rice is a better way. Pudding is great!

This was an awesome dining experience. My first time trying ikizukuri and I felt bad about it. We didn’t know it would be this style. However, from a culinary standpoint, it was an eye opener. The squid sashimi was so good! They recommended starting with salt and lemon juice, before moving to shoyu and wasabi. I loved the salt and lemon juice, as to me, it does the natural sweetness of the squid more justice. We also had an assortment of sashimi and it was of very high quality. I have never tasted akami that flavourful! Service was very good! Decor was rustic yet elegant. It was almost like stepping into the past but not quite. Definitely a departure from what we’re used to. A bit pricey but I would say it’s worth the price tag.

Ramen restaurant
Ganso Nagahamaya is a renowned ramen shop located in Nagahama, Fukuoka. Established in 1952, it is famous for its simple and delicious tonkotsu ramen. The shop has a unique order system where you are asked for your order as soon as you enter. The basic 400-yen ramen is highly recommended if you're unsure what to choose.
The food is served lightning quick, the broth is a bit more subtle than im used to but tasty nonetheless. The prices are incredible. Not much more to say than that, worth a visit surely.

Good and quick ramen, authentic and for local workers. Lineup was very quick and efficient with the pre-order on the machine. Only one choice of ramen, select size and extra toppings and pay before entering. Choice of noodle cooking. Great atmosphere, definitely recommend as a quick ramen lunch stop.

Savor Fukuoka’s authentic ramen: a steaming bowl of tonkotsu broth, tender noodles, and simple toppings. Not expensive Ramen heaven in every affordable slurp!

A taste of 1952! Tourists bros BEWARE: Do not come here expecting modern tasting ramen….it’s very old school recipe. My advice - utilize the pickled ginger, pepper, and sesame seeds to adjust the taste. Soup: very, very light (in a good way) - adjust with the pickled ginger, pepper, and sesame seeds to increase saltiness/flavour. Noodles: classic thin straight, you get a lot. Toppings: someone once told me, the less toppings, the more authentic it is for Nagahama style ramen, this was true here.
PangTV — Google review
Nagahama-style tonkotsu ramen served in a very rustic atmosphere. Ramen has high cost-performance. Definitely lacking in depth compared to the usual tonkotsu, but serviceable for its low price of 550 yen and decent portion size. However, the location is far from usual foot traffic, so I would not recommend people to specifically go out to visit this place.
J C — Google review
It is located in nagahama(長浜). It looks quite local restaurant. And fukuoka people usually visit here. It didn't anticipate the taste and quality. But, it was good ramen. The price is reasonable. So, when you go to the nagahama, you can enjoy hakata ramen here.

Izakaya restaurant

Seafood restaurant
Seimonbarai is a restaurant located in the Nakasu-Kawabata Shopping Street near Canal City in Fukuoka. The name comes from an old Hakata term for a customer appreciation sale. The restaurant offers great value with a wide variety of dishes, including sashimi platters, horse meat sashimi, grilled chicken and chicken wings, and soup rice dishes.
This place serves great seafood for an incredible value. We tried the sashimi platter horse meat sashimi, grilled chicken and chicken wings, and a soup rice dish. The sashimi platter was presented nicely and the seafood was fresh without any unpleasant smell. I liked the octopus the best out of all the options, as it was dusted with some toasted sesame. The horse meat sashimi was interesting, because it tasted like Toro with a slightly gamey taste. Both chicken dishes were worth trying, especially the chicken wing because of how huge it was. Possibly the largest chicken wing I have seen in my life. All in all, this was a great experience

There is no shortage of dishes in choices. Portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable given the w i d e varieties of dishes this izakaya put on the menu. Feature is “live seafood” and diners are all treated at the entrance with there big blue aquarium. Can get live squid sashimi (tentacles still move) abalone too are crawling all over the plate. Another good appetizer is local small oysters soaked in ponzu sauce. We also tried horse sashimi (Ba-sashi) , garden salad (loaded literally in a mountain) and minced chicken meatball skewers (tsu-ku-ne) . Most importantly, the staffs were very friendly, but need to have someone who speaks Japanese...

Their menu offered a wide variety of dishes one might anticipate! The sake menu was also quite impressive! If you were to plan to dine there in the evening, just get there early as this place can get crowded by no later than 7pm! Food was quite tasty but a bit pricey!

Food was just OK, a little disappointed at the quality and taste as both Google and Tabelog reviews are outstanding. The waitress served us was very pushing, keeping asking us to order sashimi. This is the only hard sell dinning experience we ever have in Japan. Definitely not recommend this place.

Yamanaka is an upscale restaurant offering authentic Hakata-mae sushi made with a variety of fresh seafood from Genkainada and Hakata bay. The chef personally handpicks the seafood and creates the restaurant's special soy sauce, ensuring top-quality Japanese cuisine. The contemporary setting exudes a serene vibe, making it a must-visit stop for culinary enthusiasts exploring Fukuoka. Guests praise the delicious and beautifully presented sushi, as well as the spacious and relaxing atmosphere inside the remarkable building.
Reservations highly recommended. We had to take a private room on the second floor as the counter and tables on the ground floor were all booked. There is a 10% extra service charge for the rooms but it was worth the money. Food is delicious, fresh and beautifully presented. Hakata Genki Ippai is a traditional ramen restaurant located in Fukuoka, offering a rustic and unadorned space with counter seats. The menu features tonkotsu ramen, hitokuchi gyoza, and mizutaki hot pot. The hearty soup has a robust flavor, complemented by firm noodles and flavorful chashu. Despite its simple atmosphere, the cozy ambiance makes it perfect for enjoying a relaxing meal.
Ramen with Thick broth. Tastes great with a bit of curry sauce also. Often has a long queue so be prepared to wait for 20-40mins before entering
BT — Google review
I have eaten an exuberant amount of ramen from all over the world, and I’m not sure why on earth this earned a Michelin star in 2019. It was way too salty and the broth tasted like gravy from KFC. I really wouldn’t recommend trying it, as Fukuoka has so many great options.
M Z — Google review
**Hakata Genki Ippai – Solid Tonkotsu in a Hidden Spot** You could easily walk past this discreet restaurant—its entrance shows only a **2019 Michelin sticker** and a menu, with no prominent signage. The **thick pork bone broth** is rich and creamy, perfect for cold weather, though very heavy. According to the chef, you should sip the soup before eating the noodles to appreciate its depth. Some recommend mixing in curry sauce, but I found it overly filling. While the ramen is good, it’s **not a destination bowl**—worth trying if you’re nearby, but not worth a special trip. **Cash only**. **Verdict**: A reliable, rich tonkotsu—visit when in the area, but don’t detour for it.
Calvin W — Google review
You won't find this place along any commercial street. In fact, I think this was in a low key residential area that we had to walk to from the main road. If we didn't know the significance of the blue bucket hanging outside, we would not have gone in. This "off the beaten path" restaurant was well worth the visit. Locals filled the place while we were there. Since it was our first time, my fiance and I tried their original, creamy tonkotsu ramen. I was curious about their well known curry ramen as well, but that can be an experience for next time 😁 This was unlike any ramen I've ever tasted - and at a value for money price too! Would definitely recommend 🙂
Alex L — Google review
Ramen broth is best that I have ever tasted, rich and fragrant. Maybe is because I ordered a large portion, I totally can't finish it, the meat is thick and soft🤤, not oily, lots of spring onion and black fungus. I am very willingly to pay the price cause after you tasted it, it is worth the price. This place is abit hard to find
Evelynn S — Google review
Oh lord the broth. It's so frothy and rich. It has a creaminess to it which just sticks in your mouth. Pork was fine, a bit tough. The egg was perfect and the extra onions order was incredibly generous. I love thin hakata style noodles, so these were amazing. Highly recommend for some Thicc tonkotsu if you're chasing that. No wait, service was fine, and it was pretty loud due to other customers.
Anon Y — Google review
Cash only! Michelin 2019🌟It is an authentic place with a neighborhood vibe and a simple menu! They offer an English menu. The soup base is very rich, almost like a creamy texture. The noodles are thin but perfectly cooked! The charsiu (pork) is a bit fatty for me, but if you like fatty charsiu, then you will love it.
Monica Y — Google review
A twist on ramen that unfortunately just doesn't work. From the first bite, you immediately notice the broth is overwhelmingly thick. Similar to porridge consistency. Taste is underwhelming. Just barely finished the noodles. Even then felt a little sick afterwards. The service is sub-par - pay for napkins, cash only, no bathroom nearby. Would not recommend unless you enjoy an extremely extremely thick broth.

Udon noodle restaurant
Hagakure Udon is a cozy spot in Fukuoka known for its hand-cut udon noodles with various toppings. The udon noodles here have a softer texture compared to those from other regions, offering a unique dining experience. The signature bowls, including beef, shrimp tempura, or a combination of both, are highly recommended and made to order at the assembly line. The broth is flavorful without being too salty, and the wide noodles are described as heavenly fluffy.
Old fashion cozy small shop. Have to wait a little for a seat but the order and preparation of food is fast. Is a must try udon if you are nearby this area. Udon noodle is freshly handmade when you order. Overall delicious can try some of the side dish to fill your stomach. Definitely worth eating here don’t miss it.
Hello88 — Google review
Great quality food at very low price: too good to be true. While there is a line of about 15 people when I visited on 16 Apr 2025, the wait was only 10 minutes. Best udon I have tried. I prefer ramen than udon, but this udon restaurant would be worth waiting in line for. Quick tip: a single person will get seated faster, since there are 12 counter seats facing the food preparation area. Those with larger group will have to wait until the the only two 4-person tables are available. Couples can sit side by side at the counter too. The udon is served in a clay-bowl, and keeps the soup hot for a long time. The flat version of the udon I tried was chewy, and the soup base is light and fragrant, a tinge on the saltish side. Cost me only ¥550 for a bowl with beef & shrimp, and kashiwa-gohan (bowl of rice cooked with mushrooms and carrot). From accents of those who queued, both Japanese and foreign tourists patronised this using restaurant.
Biyan T — Google review
Don’t come here if you like sanuki style chewy udons. Here, they specialize in fresh soft udon that pairs great with their savoury dashi broth. We got here for lunch and it was not only packed with people but there was a queue when we left too. I got their hot udon with wild vegetables and it’s really clean and nourishing. The soft nature of the food continues in the mixed rice. I like the marinated simmered kombu on each table.
Y — Google review
I couldn’t believe the price for the quality of food I was getting. Handmade udon and flavorful soup base, your choice of toppings. What more can you ask for? There are bar seating and tatami seating for large groups. Menu on the plaques. Service was quick. Can wait to come back again.
Cinnamon D — Google review
Good place get authentic udon if nearby. Really enjoyed the udon served here. Price was really good to despite the quality of the food served. Cash only, so make sure to bring cash. Highly recommended.
Il-Gyu C — Google review
Simple no-nonsense udon shop. Don’t come expecting anything fancy or variety of meat, instead prepare for carb-loading and expect a lot of slurping. Choices are freshly made udon noodles (flat type, not thick round type common overseas), basic fried toppings, onigiri and rice inari. Seems frequented by locals and Korean tourists. English and Korean menu available and definitely same price as Japanese menu. Come before 7pm if you don’t want to wait in line too long for dinner.

The restaurant is rather small, but the homemade udon is delightfully soft, and the clear soup is flavorful. We were fortunate to arrive early and avoid the long queues that formed later on. And the price really cheap when compared with the quality.

(Translated by Google) I stopped by while traveling. I honestly didn't have high expectations, thinking that fried chicken would be the same no matter where you eat it, but this is the real deal in Nakatsu. It was even more delicious than I expected. The seasoning was of course good, but the flavor of the fried chicken itself was amazing. It had none of the fishy odor that cheap chicken often has, and it was almost sweet. My favorite was the deep-fried whole piece of meat. You can see how popular this place is from the fact that locals were constantly ordering takeout while we were waiting. The prices are relatively reasonable too. If you like fried chicken, this is a restaurant you should try at least once. Kurobuta is a renowned specialty in Kagoshima city, with its origins dating back 400 years. This black pork, also known as Berkshire swine, is highly esteemed for its tender and flavorful meat. It is featured in various dishes such as shabu-shabu hot pot and black pork cutlets.
One of my top three restorants in Japan. The pork cutlet was suculant and so good. The added sauces were devine and home made. Even the sauces they gave for the cabage were so freking good. They should 100% bottle and sell those sauces. Everything was top notch and honestly great value as well for what tou get. It is for sure worth it. Do not miss this tresure.

This is our second visit to Japan and this is the best Tonkatsu we have tasted. So fresh and beautifully cooked. Recommend the house speciality pork cutlet with charcoal and cocca crumb - delicious! We had to wait outside for about 15mins at 7pm on a Friday night but it was worth it. Most seating was along a counter but a couple of rooms were available fro groups. Staff were attentive and friendly.

We were lucky to find 2 seats at this place, cause usually is always full, sadly we were late to try the shabu-shabu cause the place was closing soon. We took two kurobuta Katsu sets with the black breading, the pork was really tender and juicy, they offer miso or katsuo signature sauce for the Katsu. Also two different dressing for the cabbage, the soup had pork chunks and mushrooms, everything was delicious. Price are in the range of the other kurobuta serving places and the stars was kind and helpful, they have English menu.

QR code got us a menu in English, and the sauces were helpfully labelled in English too 🥰 My black pork set lunch was delicious 😋 The pork crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Homemade dipping sauce was very good, but I found the miso sauce even better ☺️ Pickles, rice bowl and miso soup all tasty. Ebisu beer (Oishi!) and a shochu tasting for drinks Great service. Reasonably priced. Highly recommended

Amazing food at very, very reasonable prices. The kurobuta was excellent; would highly recommend the sirloin (~¥3000) set meal. As other reviews have noted, the accompanying condiments are exceptional. Tiny gripe: the draft beers are a little small for the price. Feels a tiny bit like gouging. Which is weird, given the decent prices for everything else! If I come back to Kago, I'm coming back here.

Ordered both sesame and normal black pork katsu. This is the best pork katsu I had - crunchy on the outer, juicy on the inner. Tried all the 3 sauces and still preferred their home made sauce which brought out the taste of the pork. We also ordered a lunch time special of black pork shabu shabu to go with. It also came with 3 sauces and the japanese style sauce is surprisingly better than the sesame ponzu, or the salt sauce.
Gaius L — Google review
The ambience is warm and the room we sat in is decorated like an old Japanese home. We ordered the black crusted pork loin and fillet tonkatsu because of their varying amount of fat. It is a utter disappointment. The crust falls off the meat readily and before eating the meat looks not juicy like normal pork cutlets but bone dry. I don’t know why perhaps the meat is too overcooked. The service is good but a little rushed. They have to clear the table for the next customers. Nice atmosphere but the food disappoints! Service acceptable because they are busy!

Very tiny restaurant, i think they can accomodate up to 10 people. So be prepared to wait (i was quite lucky in that regard). I got the pork tonkatsu and the pork was cooked quite nicely (however it could have used a bit of seasoning). Sides to the dish were also quite tasty and so was ice cream

They also sell brandy-flavored soft serve ice cream, which is also delicious. One suggestion: I'd like them to sell coffee and other drinks to drivers so they don't have to waste time. The waiting time is quite long. All of the wines are delicious, but more than anything, the air here is pleasant. If you visit early in the morning, it's even more refreshing than during the day, and you'll be soothed by the beautiful songs of the wild birds. The historic glassware on display in the barrel storehouse is gorgeous and beautiful, and it's fun just to look at it. While the paid tastings are fun, the brandy soft serve ice cream sold at the shop is a recommended dessert that you should definitely try. Tempura restaurant
Tempura Hirao is a popular tempura restaurant known for its delicious, affordable, and quick meals. The restaurant offers a variety of side dishes to accompany the freshly made tempura, including miso, rice, and Asian pickles. One of their popular options is the "sampler meal," which includes kisu (sillago), chicken, shrimp, sweet potato, pepper, eggplant, and squid for only 770 yen.
Not exaggerating—this was one of the best dining experiences during my Fukuoka trip. Everything was excellent. The vegetables were very fresh and sweet, and the squid appetizer was definitely a "rice thief"! The room was well air-conditioned and comfortable for dining.
Emil K — Google review
We usually dine at their other outlet in Tenjin but decided to dine here as we wanted to visit the Daimyo area. Even after arriving at 1020 am before the shop opened, there was already a queue, so much so that we missed the first sitting. Ordering is easy - you select and pay at the two machines at the door, wait for a seat to be assigned and then present the tickets to the staff. The tempura were super fresh and cooked to order, and the ebi were especially good, being large, firm and sweet. Moreover, the tempura were not oily at all and the batter was just nice. The colourful set came with a large battered chicken and a slightly fishy piece of fish. Sets came with a bowl of rice, a small dish of sliced and pickled squid and a bowl of soup. The picked sliced radish was really good.
Steven L — Google review
Tempura served fresh, one piece at a time — right in front of you! The highlight here is definitely the freshness and perfect crispiness of the tempura. While the flavor might not be super bold or unique, the experience of watching the chef fry and serve each piece directly to your tray is truly enjoyable. The side dish of fresh squid with yuzu was also surprisingly good — refreshing and flavorful. You’ll need to order from a vending machine first, but the process is easy and food comes out fast. Definitely worth a visit for tempura lovers looking for quality and a fun dining experience.
Nana R — Google review
We are visiting Japan from the USA for the second time, and we decided to come back to this restaurant a couple years after our first visit because we enjoyed it so much the last time. I’m happy to report that we were equally pleased with the experience. There is a little bit of friction for visitors like us that don’t read Japanese. While they do have English (and other languages) menus available online via their website or QR code that links to that site, the site loads slowly, the menus items don’t have clear descriptions until you open a subpage from the menu item name for more info, and even when you figure out what you want you will also need to figure out what button to press on the ticket machine which is in Japanese. I got mixed up and pressed the wrong button but I’m not a particularly picky eater and have no dietary restrictions so I just had that instead, which ended up being very good. Once we managed to get our tickets, we sat on the waiting bench until called to the counter. We presented our tickets, washed our hands with the damp towel, and was promptly served our drinks and food. The tempura comes out one piece at a time so by the time I was ready for the next one it was just cool enough for me to eat it comfortably. Because everything is paid for in advance, after dining there is no need to go to a register. I was originally going to order the 7 vegetable set, but ended up clicking the button for the Tempura set meal which is the only meal set that has mackerel, and is a fish focused set. I wish I would have figured out what I wanted and what button it is on the machines before I even came to the restaurant to make getting the ticket easier but I’ll try to keep that in mind next time. I think a good change would be to add menu item numbers to the buttons on the ticket machines so if you know you want meal set number 7 for example by looking on the English menus you just look for the number 7. We had a wonderful meal, and when I am blessed to visit this city again I would very much like to eat here again.
Joshua — Google review
Try to get there 30 minutes before the main meal rush hour. It’s great that there is an English menu to help you navigate the vending machine. Only cash is accepted.
Win — Google review
We ordered sets from the vending machine (there was the option for individual pieces too). Each customer gets to see the kitchen action of portioning rice, soup and then getting served with freshly fried tempura pieces! No need for fanciful sauces.. the fermented squid side dish was lovely too.. no fishy/briny taste unlike what we tried at other restaurants. Overall, a very satisfying meal.
JJ T — Google review
For me, tempura tastes almost the same but the different will be from fresh ingredient inside and the cruchiness outside They will serve piece by piece with rice and soup If you are not tempura lovers and don't want to line up, come early or find some places else
Preyakarn S — Google review
Each piece of tempura is served fresh from the fryer. Despite tempura’s reputation as a pricier dish, this place offers an incredibly affordable menu, making it a standout in the area. The wait is well worth it, as every piece is meticulously prepared. Also, their いかの塩辛—an absolute rice thief! perfectly complements the rice and tempura. For quality, affordability, and an unforgettable culinary experience in Fukuoka, this shop is a must-visit.

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant Hakata Hiramatsu, established in 1999, has been a prominent fixture in Fukuoka, serving exquisite French cuisine for over a decade. Head chef Yasuhiro Mizumoto, who hails from Fukuoka and trained under the renowned Michelin-starred chef Hiroyuki Hiramatsu, skillfully crafts classic French dishes using fresh seasonal ingredients.
What an amazing experience. We booked via pocket concierge (you can use your amex platinum benefit this way) and we were not disappointed. The service is outstanding, it felt like private dining. The waiters could anticipate our ever desire. My wife likes to drink hot water, and she was always topped up, and we never had to ask and hardly ever noticed! We ordered their seasonal cocktail and it was one of the best cocktails I have ever had. The wine pairing was on point and worked well with every dish. I particularly enjoyed the amuse bouche and entrees and petit fours.

A thoroughly enjoyable fine dining experience. This elegant restaurant upholds high standards in classic French cuisine, delivered with finesse and precision. The calm, continental-style setting is beautifully appointed—posh linen, artful decor, and an ambiance that invites you to slow down and savour. The food was delicious across the board, from the amuse-bouches to the dessert—each course thoughtfully composed and elegantly presented. Service was a highlight. Special mention goes to the sommelier, whose warm hospitality and professionalism greatly enhanced the evening (apologies for missing his name). A polished and memorable experience from start to finish.

Udon noodle restaurant
Takeout Restaurant
Restaurant
Kamakiri Udon is a must-visit for udon enthusiasts. The noodles are freshly made on the spot, boasting a chewy texture that perfectly complements the umami-rich broth. The addition of sudachi lends a tart flavor that beautifully enhances the overall taste experience. This Japanese eatery exudes an authentic Koshi soul, offering not only delectable udon but also delicious donburi options.
Small udon shop with grand quality, variety of choices, good prices, do not miss the Cold Udon
Kijpatomnath S — Google review
The udon is too soft. I think the chef cooked too long. The katsu don taste good. Fried chiken wings are also tasty. Otherwise, the other dishes are so so.

This is an amazing spot for hand made udon with tempura and a rotating menu of sides. I would highly recommend the tsudachi udon. Cold udon on a rich dashi broth with thinly sliced citrus. Perfect for a hot day. The tempura is also impeccable with gobo that is basically free. Very small place so I imagine it can get pretty busy but definitely worth it.
Ian R — Google review
What a great place to eat! Kamakiri Udon is one of the top udon restaurants in Japan and offers extremely tasty dishes. The udon are soft on the outside and firm to the bite on the inside. I definitely recommend trying the side dishes or one of the sets on offer. The price/performance ratio is excellent.
ZEIT D — Google review
Rating 3.5 out of 5 stars I had the udon with clams and a plate of sashimi. The sashimi was made from the daily selection of fish that the restaurant offered on that day, and it was outstanding. The quality of the fish was excellent. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and clean. The flavors were rich but never too fishy, which I enjoyed a lot. It was served with soy sauce, a slice of lime, and wasabi. The portion and presentation were beautiful and it was a pleasure to eat. For the main dish I had the udon with clams. I have to admit that I am not a big fan of udon in general because the chewy texture is not really something I enjoy. That is also part of the reason for the rating. The dish itself was good. The amount of clams was impressive and they all had a deep and very flavorful taste with great quality. The broth or liquid was extremely light and delicate. I could not fully tell if it was meant to be a broth or more of a cooking liquid, because it did not carry much flavor and tasted a bit watery. Because of that I did not end up drinking it. The main issue was that the dish did not create much synergy between the ingredients. When you ate the noodles you tasted only noodles. When you ate the clams you tasted only clams. The flavors did not blend together as much as I hoped. The restaurant itself is located in a beautiful and calm area with a nice natural atmosphere. I enjoyed the breeze coming in and the environment felt very pleasant. The service was extremely friendly. You place your order with the staff and pay at the machine at the end. Overall it was a good experience. The clams were excellent and the sashimi was delicious. Udon simply is not my favorite type of noodle, and the dish could have used more depth and harmony. Because of that I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Paul — Google review
Taste I’ve never tried before. Noodle has chewy texture. Tart flavor of sudachi really goes well with the umami of the broth.

If the customer service improves, I expect it to be 4 stars in the future. <PS> November 6, 2019 Still bad customer service. The clerk at the cash register is friendly and has good customer service, but the clerk who brings the food is a bit timid and doesn't have a very good customer service attitude. Also, this dish contains a lot of additives, so when I got home that day, the area around my eyes was red. Although I was not feeling well, I doubt that many plum blossom dishes, which have a healthy image, are loaded with additives. Also, there is eel rice among the rice options, but I think it's a good idea not to tell them that it's made in China. We were incredibly lucky and get a seat as walk ins and the restaurant blew us away. We got the omakase and each dish was magical. But what is even more special is the people working the. You see the passion in their faces and they joy they have to see you like the food. The food was so good, that we ended up ordering another plate of some courses at the end. Hands down the best meal in Japan.

Not easy to find the restaurant; not easy to order either. So we choose the “course” as recommended. Quite impressive, almost each one come out with its own delightful experience 👍👍

Great izakaya resto in the neibourhood. We didn’t make reservation, but very lucky to have two seats, after several hours shopping in the CBF area. Staff are polite and helpful - and here my sincere apology to a young staffer there, I was too into the details of the English menu, and being too arrogant for the inconsistency against my expectation. Highly recommend this resto to world travellers.

Thank you for serving us. Food was decent, I and two of my friends have made a reservation one month in advance but it turns out that we have to squeeze in a small table which is the size for one person compared with other customers. Disappointed.

This izakaya delivered one of the best dining experiences we’ve had across all our visits to Japan. We stumbled upon it by chance, and from the moment we walked in, both the front of house and kitchen staff made us feel like part of their family. The warmth and hospitality were exceptional. Every single dish was prepared with such passion and attention to detail. The food was outstanding and beautifully showcased Fukuoka’s local culinary traditions. We spent two wonderful hours there, enjoying fantastic drinks and memorable food that sparked genuine joy with each bite. If you’re in Fukuoka, this is without question one of the best dining options in the city. Highly recommended.

Sushi Sakai is a renowned restaurant located in Fukuoka, Japan, known for its dedication to the art of Edomae sushi. The restaurant offers traditional Japanese cuisine and has earned one Michelin star. Sushi Sakai is situated in a gourmet neighborhood in central Fukuoka and provides an authentic dining experience with seasonal treasures from Kyushu. The establishment boasts breathtaking Japanese architecture and serves sushi perfected using traditional techniques, paired with the chef's favorite sake.
One of the best 3-stars Michelin Sushi restaurants in Japan for sure. Not to mention the taste, It was greatful for their hospitality. I will definitely visit again when I come to Fukuoka.

Fit all the criterial for Michelin 3 stars, although Michelin not operate in this area anymore. Good wine and sake pairing, some additional items can order. Booking is relatively easy for a Tabelog top 10 sushi in Japan plus a gold award. Endomae style, at least 30% cheaper than same level restaurant in Tokyo.

This is a pretty traditional sushi restaurant in that they do not serve unusual fish or novelty dish, but the ingredients quality, the service and the care put in preparing every dish is immaculate. One of the best sushi experience is the world.

Note: the entrance to the establishment is a bit hard to find on Google maps so please get there a few minutes before your reservation just in case! The restaurant is immaculately clean. Food was excellent and service was great. Patrons were offered an option for smaller/half portion rice with sushi, which is great for those watching their carbs intake 😂 One of the servers was a bit clumsy and knocked a patron's half glass of beer over. They then gave them the same amount (half a glass) of beer in a smaller glass. The toilets were very clean and packeted mouth washers were also available

Honestly bang for the buck! Stellar fish quality, shari, and service! The slightly warm and more flavorful shari brings out the kuruma ebi’s full flavor. Kanpachi zuke , akami zuke, chutoro and anago were a few of my favorites.

Shokunin of Sushi. Not many sushi restaurant is awarded 3 stars on michelin guide. Sakai was in the 3 stars list in 2019 and received Tabelog Silver award on the latest 2023 list. The hospitality, the quality of ingredient, the expressing of the flavor, decoration and cooking skill are in a mastery level. Not so many restaurant make you feel happy in every dishes and Sakai is one of those. No doubt that Sakai is on the top 10 list of sushi restaurant in Japan. Heavenly bite!!

Seafood restaurant
Sabarou is a must-visit destination for seafood lovers in Fukuoka City. Thanks to its prime location near the Genkai Sea, the market receives fresh mackerel daily, making it one of the few places in Japan where you can enjoy mackerel sashimi. One of the local delicacies is goma saba, which features sweet and fresh mackerel seasoned with ground sesame seeds, mirin, soy sauce, and sake.
Amazing mackerel sashimi and goma saba. Just be aware that the staff speak no English and the menu is in calligraphy so Google translate won't be much use either ;)

(Translated by Google) I went in for lunch. I heard that the sesame mackerel set meal is no longer available at lunchtime. It's a shame, as I came all the way from Tokyo just for this! The staff were very friendly and I was able to relax in a private room, but it's still a real shame... The hot towel and cold water that came were not even a millimeter wet, but they did replace the hot towel as expected. I ordered the fried chicken set meal. It was freshly fried and crispy. Even from a rice shop kid's perspective, the rice had just the right amount of moisture and was very delicious. The miso soup was a scrambled egg soup with wakame seaweed and green onions, and had a strong dashi flavor. By the way, refills of rice and miso soup are free for 850 yen. Good value for money. The fried chicken can get a bit oily as it cools. You might want to eat it all in one go, or choose the mackerel miso or salted mackerel. There are so many different mackerel dishes to choose from, it's hard to choose. The classic sashimi options include wild mackerel and farmed mackerel, and both are delicious! The farmed mackerel is fattier, though. Personally, the fresh spring rolls with mackerel were the best! The meat dishes were also delicious. This is a restaurant I'd definitely like to visit again. Seven years after watching the Japanese drama 忘却のサチコ, my wife and I finally visited Suginoko. I had the Kurobuta Pork Belly set meal, and it was honestly the best pork belly I’ve ever eaten—melts right in your mouth. We also shared the Miyazaki charcoal-grilled jidori chicken, and among all the charcoal-grilled chicken I’ve tried in Kyushu, this one really stood out for its incredible flavor and texture. 👍👍 I also tried the famous hiya-jiru soup with rice for the first time—highly recommend it to anyone visiting Miyazaki for the 1st time!

Sushi Senpachi, a gem nestled in Fukuoka, is the brainchild of Chef Takashi Nakahara, who honed his skills at renowned establishments like Tokimune and Sushi Shin. This family restaurant beautifully marries local ingredients with traditional Edomae techniques to create an unforgettable dining experience. Guests rave about the exceptional quality of sushi and the impressive sake selection that complements each dish perfectly.
Very nice omakase! Been to many and this is really good. Change my view on mackerel. Fish is super fresh. The best dish is dry aged squid sushi!!!!

Very strong shari that balanced well with some fish and not so much others. Otsumami were great, good value overall. Lots of comments about limited interaction with the chef. When he dropped our pieces he simply said the name in Japanese-I don’t expect anything else. Then an assistant brings an info card which is a bonus. The chef did spend the entire 1.5 hours talking to a couple wearing APs like they were having a dinner party, annoying for me and I imagine the chef as well.

Managed to book on tabelog about a week in advance. The meal was so beautiful and definitely filled us up. Only one chef serving 10 seats.
Natasha L — Google review
This was definitely on the more formal end, with an almost military-like hierarchy among the chef and the apprentices. The atmosphere was slightly intimidating, though the food was good. The abalone risotto in particular was amazing, and the squid sushi was delicious. Some things that could have made things better... - we felt the course was rather rushed. We are ok with 15 sushi that you eat as soon as it is in front of you, but it's more like we were served chawanmushi, but before we could finish, the next sushi was in front of you. Same with a fish ball in broth - before we could finish, the anago sushi was in front of you. - the large prawn was delicious, though I think the sand vein was not removed, resulting in a grainy texture - although having pictures and names of the fish is appreciated, it would be more helpful to know the typical preparations, culinary notes etc, rather than identification characteristics like length, position of fins etc - we were surprised to be charged for tea, and also for top-ups of the tea... Having been to a number of high end omakase before, I had expected the tea to be provided as part of the meal, instead of being charges 2000yen extra for four very small glasses of cold oolong tea

First of all, my booking was at 11:00a.m. and we arrived at 11:05 and completely sat down at the restaurant around 11:10a.m. Other 5 customers already started their meal when we sat down. We were late and it was our fault. However, we finished the meal within an hour as the picture I took after the meal outside the restaurant has a time stamp of 12:06p.m. The meal was supposed to be 90 minutes according to the booking and we ( a group of 5 persons) felt the rush. There were a total of 15 items in the whole lunch set. And there were a few occasions that there were 2 sushi in front of me. Also, the chef did not even try to talk to us, but he talked to the other customers next to me in Japanese. I'm not sure if it was because we are foreigners. Or he was too busy to catch up with the schedule due to our lateness. The apprentices (or assistance), though, did greet us and shared with us some fish information about the sushi using a tablet. When we got out of the restaurant, the assistance also stood in front of the restaurant to say goodbye. This restaurant makes sushi rice with red vinegar as we can see the darker rice. It also brought stronger sourness in the sushi than usual. I m not an expert with sushi, but it is not my cup of tea. Having said that, I do like the non-rice part, in particular the shellfish and the prawn, which were full of umami. The environment was clean, simple, and tidy with a large L-shape Japanese wooden bar top table and 10 seats. Pretty cozy.

One of the best sushi experiences in Fukuoka. The omakase goes beyond the traditional Edo-style nigiri menu, with unique fish we hadn’t seen elsewhere in Japan. The taishō runs the counter like a star, with staff moving around him like a perfectly conducted orchestra. Excellent sake selection too. We’ve been told that locals don’t usually go for upscale sushi in town and tend to go outside Fukuoka, so expect to find mainly Chinese/Taiwanese patrons alongside you.

If I could give it a perfect rating, Sushi Kazuya would receive 10 stars. This establishment rivals top-notch sushi places in Tokyo with its young and friendly sushi master who possesses exceptional skills. The experience goes beyond just sushi; the master also suggests outstanding sake pairings. With only eight seats at the counter, it's wise to book in advance.
If I could give 10 stars I would. This place rivals that of high end sushi places in Tokyo. The sushi master is young and friendly and extremely skilled. It's not just sushi: it's an experience. He'll also suggest sake to pair with it and it's always incredible. Small 8-seat counter place, so book in advance. Lunch is the best deal at around 5000 yen for the course, but it fills you up, partly because of the service style of only serving one piece at a time. The rice is perfect. The fish selection is phenomenal and based on seasonal specialties. The ambiance is calm and relaxing but not so serious. Literally everything about this place is perfect. I know other people have already said it but I can confirm: this is the best sushi I've ever had in my life. Oh my god it's amazing.

Yorozu is a popular tea house and bar that offers a serene space with a central hearth and a traditional tea room. It's known for its carefully prepared matcha, fine teas, cocktails, after-dinner drinks, seasonal desserts, and small savory bites. With around 20 varieties of Japanese tea primarily sourced from Kyushu, including Fukuoka, it's the perfect place to enjoy Japanese tea, sweets, and sake in a tranquil setting.
Don't let the other negative comments dissuade you from coming. Hosted with the kindest patience for my lack of Japanese. Apparently, it's possible to get charged extra on top of the tasting. That makes sense considering she carries very high end teas that I could understand increasing the base price. Tasty little bites. I look forward to trying more teas in her space. Note: she'll ask you only take photos of what's on the table. Enjoy the ambience, and let it be a pleasant surprise for others. When I get there, it was not full at all, still have plenty more seats, and i walk in and said I don’t have reservation, they didn’t even mention anything, and just said I could come in and have a seat in the bar table. I ordered a tea set menu, and beyond that, I chosen one tea with extra cost, like 500yen. The tea set just one tea section, they boiled water and give me 3 cups of tea, that’s all. It comes with one piece of strawberry, one wagashi, one bite size of date, and couple one bit beans and dry fruit, that’s all they have in the tea set. This set is about 5500 yen. - In the middle, I was told I have to pay table fee, 1000yen. But they also charged 10% service fee at the same time. - In the end, the bill is such confusing, total Is like more than 7200 yen. It’s kind like i paid tax, over tax and over tax again again again. Coz I’m confused about the bill, and they even didn’t provide me a clear receipt??? I’m asking for a receipt, they just show me the hand written note without any annotation?? EXTRA confused! - I would say this is good place, but all the fees and unclear receipts all make me feel not worth to try it, coz there are so many super great tea place with reasonable price out there!

It was a unique experience that I recommend to those wanting to try green tea or elaborated cocktails in a peaceful and tranquil environment. The is slow music playing, the staff moves with grace and everyone speaks in low voices and take their time. That is the whole experience of drinking tea. To show respect, use Google translate, speak slow and low and don’t do any noise and you’ll be able to enjoy this very unique and lovely place. I had roasted tea with the most amazing mocho dessert and then ordered a cocktail.
Carolina C — Google review
We got the plum and tangerine cocktails. Nothing to write home about - no interesting taste or flavor. We got three sweets - the white bean, green tea jelly and black jelly. The green tea jelly was the most interesting because of the powder served with it but the other 2 weren’t special. They’ve done a good job with the interiors but definitely not worth the price because the quality of the cocktails and sweets really wasn’t great. Unfortunately, the lack of quality of the cocktails and sweets and the high price left a bad taste in my mouth and made the experience feel pretentious.
Vivek R — Google review
Perhaps one of the most precious tea houses in Yame - sourcing excellent tea from many nearby reputable farmers. Very much worth a visit to experience the depth of tea from Yame, known as “Yamecha.” Things to keep in mind as a foreigner: - Reservations are highly recommended. As a foreigner this is impossible (as you know.) If you go as a walk in you might be able to squeeze in, but don’t be disappointed if you can get in. - Photos are not allowed in the shop - except for top down photos of the tea itself. Just keep this in mind. The shop is beautiful so you’ll want to do photos inside but it’s not possible. Anyhow, my favorite tea house in Yame!

Tetsunabe Gyoza is a popular dish in Fukuoka, Japan, consisting of bite-sized dumplings that are pan-fried on a cast iron skillet. These succulent gyoza are filled with a juicy mixture of ground pork, cabbage, and green onions. The contrast between the crispy and chewy exterior and the flavorful meat filling makes them a delightful treat.

FOOD : Good! PLACE : Good. SERVICE : Not Good! TOILET : Ok. PRICE : Fair. Once again “Google Map” made me being here. The Japanese Staff, was not friendly and unable English. The other Staffs (probably Pinoy Lady) difficult also in english and seem confused while handling Me. Luckily the Menu was in English and had pictures. Anyway, The Gyoza was Good Taste. At last I met the Whale Fish Sashimi here and Horse Meat Sashimi (surprisingly its very Tasty). They have different soy sauce for these foods. This place was crowded but it had a nice atmosphere eating here. The Toilet was not too clean. Price was fair for this Good Food. You can try eating in here for the rare Sashimi.

This restaurant scores 3.49 in tabelog, a Japan app rating restaurants. We ate this because there’s a long queue outside the restaurant. They serves mainly dumplings, both fried and soup. Out of my expectation, the dumplings tastes awful. Mushy dumpling dough, little filling with overpowering meat flavour. No texture and no flavour at all. Other dishes like chicken wings and spring onion fried eggs are ok. I won’t think it is a worth eating restaurant in Japan given there are so much more better options.

gyoza is not as good as expected it to be. staff were not as accommodating. restaurant allows indoor smoking
Pete F — Google review
The gyoza was awesome! They just melted in your mouth and had the right amount of crunch. The flavor was addictive and went well with a glass of beer. The chicken skin was also a nice surprise. The flavor was smoky, fatty, salty and vinegary. It is a great drinking snack. Overall, I would highly recommend to visit.

Good gyoza; crusty skin type-their specialty. An order for 1 pax serves 7 little portions.Other small eats available also.Basically a watering hole and small eatery of sorts.Avoid if you are adverse to cigarette smoke.

(Translated by Google) Overrated I admit it's reasonably priced, but if you ask me if it's delicious, I'd give it a question mark. Whenever I went it was always full and they asked if I had a reservation, so I was super excited when I just dropped in and it was empty, but despite my high expectations I was disappointed that it wasn't that good. I now understand that the reason it's always full isn't because it's delicious, but because you can reserve a bottle of shochu for 2,000 yen. I now understand that there's no way a restaurant could be delicious if it has a sign on the entrance door that says it has Japanese-style toilets. It's very disappointing, as my expectations were high. Tsugumi Nakasu Kawabata is a renowned restaurant that offers an authentic taste of Kyushu, skillfully prepared by a chef trained in Kyoto. The menu pays homage to the region's produce, tableware, and sake. The stylish interior and the realistic grilling experience add to the overall atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy a variety of dishes including yakitori and grilled vegetables.
A very valuable Yakitori grilled skewers shop, chicken wing is so nice
Gilbert J — Google review
This restaurant is nicely decorated and bright. We were a part of 4 and I reserved the day before, we were seated at the bar table that made it difficult to talk. The yakitori were indeed delicious but many items were not available or sold out. Hence the available yakitori selection was limited. In general the chickens were very nice and the BBQ was done close to perfection. We did not try chicken sashimi but they looked good as they were ordered by other customers. Overall, the food was great but it was on the expensive side. For example, one chicken yakitori costs over 600 yen. It is a bit much comparing to other restaurants. Will not repeat.

This time's appetizer is cold soba with green tea soba topped with swordfish. There were many types of chicken on the menu, including local chicken from Kagoshima, Kumamoto, and Miyazaki. I have high expectations because I have fond memories of it being quite delicious in Kumamoto. When you walk inside, you'll find a stylish interior just like the Kumamoto store. I went to the counter and ordered the menu. The realistic feeling of grilling right in front of your eyes adds to the atmosphere. While mainly ordering yakitori, I also ordered grilled vegetables. First up is yakitori. Personally, my favorite is the morning chicken tenderloin. Wasabi is served separately, so choose as you like. Personally, I think that the level of chicken meat can be determined by the level of the restaurant. lol The chicken fillet here is a masterpiece that brings out the full flavor of the chicken fillet. Worth eating. Also, the shiitake mushrooms are teppan, so definitely try them. This quality, this cost performance. This is a recommended shop. (Translated by Google) Actually, I don't want to give even 1 star. It's quite a surprise. I entered the store with a reservation at 6:00 p.m. when the store opened, and there were 4 people in front of me. Ordered all-you-can-eat and drink for 3000 yen. The all-you-can-eat system starts after all 5 items are served. This is common at other restaurants, but the problem is the serving time. Everything except the salad took quite a while, and both the guest's family and I were just wasting our time on our smartphones. Since we had made a reservation, we should have been able to prepare the appetizers in advance, but the 5 dishes were served an hour later. Meanwhile, the cook in the kitchen had a long conversation with the owner of the counter. Perhaps it's the manual that takes everything out after an hour. From there, I ordered a pizza and two types of hamburger steaks, but they were also slow. By the time the pizza arrived, there was a lot of smoke and a burning smell in the store. Five minutes before the time limit, the kitchen staff came and told us that the hamburgers were out of stock and could not be served. You know that in advance, right? Waited an hour for a hamburger and now you say that? The store clerk was determined to do nothing. Perhaps the hamburger was burnt, but it's too late to tell and the reason is too lame, what kind of restaurant is this? I was at a loss, so I just ate dessert and went to the counter to pay the bill. They accept various credit cards, so when I asked to pay by card, I was told that there would be a 10% processing fee. This is clearly a violation of the credit card company's terms and conditions, and adding fees is prohibited. Normally, I wouldn't have been charged a fee if I mentioned this, but I didn't want to be involved with it again, so I paid PayPay on the spot and went home. This is the first time I've seen a restaurant do such a malicious thing. I hope more people don't feel the same way. (Translated by Google) [Beware of fraud and rip-off restaurants!] The good reviews are probably from friends and acquaintances. I used this restaurant for the after-party of my wedding. I made a reservation a month in advance, but they accepted it willingly. I am truly grateful. I asked for a 3,850 yen after-party plan for about 25 people, and asked them to make a video to shoot on my iPhone. The meeting went smoothly, and I created the invitations on LINE, and was looking forward to the day. But... when the after-party started, even though it was an order buffet, there was only enough food for a few people. Although the course had 7 dishes, only 5 dishes were served. I asked for more dishes, but they insisted that it was "not possible." When I asked if I could bring in my own food, they said, "It's fine." I had no choice but to rush to a nearby discount store to buy some dried snacks. I asked for plates to serve the food on, and a young staff member was happy to provide them. I had planned to play a movie at the end, but they said, "We don't do that." During the meeting, we were five people here, and everyone remembered that they had requested a video. But there was no apology for that either. The manager was sulky from start to finish, and unfriendly when asked. Or rather, his attitude was as if to say, "Go home quickly." He didn't even say "thank you" until the end. He didn't smile when we paid, and it felt like a bother. And when I saw the bill, I was shocked again. The contract said that the bride and groom and the organizer were free, but they insisted that the organizer pay, so I had no choice but to pay. I can't imagine that this is the attitude of someone who is in charge of customer service. To be honest, I didn't want to pay even for the 2,500 yen course. The only consolation was that the young staff was friendly and tried their best. For the restaurant, it was just one of dozens, hundreds, or thousands of drinking opportunities. However, for me it was an important moment in my life, a day that will become a precious memory. I was very grateful for your help in many ways, such as preparing the bouquet, but I will never use your services again. I have posted a review so that no one else will become a victim. (Translated by Google) We recently had a wedding reception here. I'm upset that they (probably) embezzled our change. It's a terrible restaurant. This is a long story, but I want to share it so that people know about the damage we've suffered. During our meeting, we booked a wedding reception course for 3,300 yen. We asked a mutual friend to collect the fee (organizer), and when we entered the restaurant, we confirmed that the total amount for the fee and the number of guests matched. My husband's friend told him at the time that "it seemed like the money was exactly right," so he didn't check with the restaurant. (By the way, the organizer's friend didn't know how much we had booked, so of course he didn't know that we were given change.) When we got home and were paying the bill the next day, we noticed that we hadn't received our change, so we called them. The owner initially helped us out, and they showed us the receipt and the change. They also confirmed who had given it to us. However, they said, "It seems that XX (the store clerk's name) gave it to the groom." But we didn't meet the "self-proclaimed person" on the day itself. We didn't even see him inside the store. (The store clerk had met both of us during the meeting, so we knew each other's faces and names.) They even said that there was another store clerk who saw the gift being handed over. ←At this point, it feels like they're trying to provide evidence. My husband didn't drink alcohol at the after-party, and I was nearby, so I'd been non-alcoholic since the ceremony, so I definitely remember. I definitely didn't receive it. But they still insisted, "They said it was just given to them." When I asked if there was any surveillance camera, the footage disappears after 24 hours, so we don't know. And to top it off, "I'm willing to pay out of my own pocket, but in return, could you please bring all of your belongings with you now? I'll check them." Isn't that extremely rude of an attitude to a customer who has used the store? Since neither of us had any evidence, we gave up on getting the change back, but the feeling of unease still remains. I feel very sad that this happened on such a special day. I wrote the honest story to prevent any further damage. I'm sorry, but we will never forgive them and will never go to a store like that again. Please don't be fooled by them either. What they're doing is clearly a crime, a scam. (Translated by Google) Today, I visited the ramen bar "Tsudoi" in Sumiyoshi for the first time for the 4th party with my wife. This is a shop that I had been interested in for a while through SNS etc. I visited on a Saturday at 23:00, and the restaurant was almost full. There are about 10 counter seats. All seats are smoking. There's good music playing inside the store, and there are a lot of rock, nostalgic, or meaningless posters and stickers on the walls, which adds to the suspiciousness of the store in a good way. To put it in perspective, it would be like eating and drinking ramen at a club or live hall. Anyway, it was a different space. And the menu is also meaningless in a good way! lol Even when people say "That's without soup" or "That's it" or "4-dimensional soba" or "Paripi" lol We listened to the owner's explanation and ordered ``Sole'' and ``Clam Soba'', as well as ``Paripi'' and ``Wasabi Edamame'' as snacks. The names on the menu are a bit silly, but the taste is excellent. ``Sole'' is the so-called zaru soba, but it is eaten with different flavors in order: salt, sansho salt, tsuyu, spicy miso, and green onions. Soba itself is delicious, but I was surprised to find out how delicious soba can be eaten simply with salt or Japanese pepper salt. Asari Soba is a fragrant dish made with a generous amount of clam stock. Paripi is a style of eating crispy peppers with meat miso and it is also delicious. The restaurant's atmosphere and taste were great, and personally, it was a restaurant I would definitely come back to again. Thank you for the meal! I'll be sure to visit again! I was drinking alone on a business trip, and a local guy I met told me he thought it was a restaurant I'd like, so he took me there. The interior of the store is full of stylish and quirky art that reeks of culture. As for the menu, it's full of unique menus that stick to their own unique lines. I don't remember the name of the menu, but I ordered something like tsuke soba and an original drink. There is no doubt that it was delicious. It's good to eat at the traditional Tenjin area, but you should also visit these restaurants. I feel like I saw the real Hakata! This is a place to go for curiosity or atmosphere. Opening hours are 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. This place is only open for 4 hours From the outside, it looks like a used goods store. I don't even know if it's a place that sells alcohol and snacks. I can't see much except for the red light. You have to go through one more aisle where props are displayed. There is a kitchen and bar, and on the wall Hip and unique, but also sexy Full of stickers and pictures It is a store with a clever and strange feeling. (Of course, it's just a soba restaurant) Not friendly and seems indifferent It doesn't seem to matter even if you're a foreigner. Take a seat and have a highball and sirunasiare If you look around while ordering one, You make it quickly. Ah, but the highball doesn't taste that good. It feels like I just mixed alcohol with water. I can't get my hands on it after just one sip. Foods that say sirunashinoarere are It would be like bibim soba without soup. The visual of UFO Ramen comes to mind. If you think you made it yourself at home, I think it will taste just like this It's delicious, but it tastes typical. Vegetables and meat below It's salty and well seasoned. It's good enough But there's a really strange charm here. It's definitely not friendly and the taste is just familiar. Why is it fun and interesting? It really feels like a late night restaurant in Wonderland. Ramen restaurant
Ichiran is an informal ramen restaurant in Fukuoka City known for its specialty tonkotsu ramen, a type of hakata ramen. This style of ramen features a cloudy broth made by boiling pork bones over high heat for several hours. One unique feature of Ichiran is the ability to customize your ramen, including the texture of the noodles, allowing visitors to enjoy a personalized bowl of this iconic dish.
First time trying ichiran. Queued outside and paid and got the receipts before seating. Went with friends and we sat next to each other but the booth was for one person only. Very exquisite private dining experience. There were baskets to place bags on the floor behind the eating booths. Ordered the classic and liked that you can customise the ramen to your preference such as noodle texture. Also curious about the matcha almond pudding so i got it. Really loved the noodles and can see myself coming back to eat ichiran again.

not sure if ichiran’s standard dropped significantly or this branch is just really bad. we got firm noodles but it was so soft. soup was so salty and oily you can see from my photo attached, we couldn’t even drink it. meat slices were really thin. peel your own egg. would never go to ichiran again after this visit. no wonder there wasn’t anyone at all- no lines, no customers when we were inside during dinner time on a weekday.

The formula of success. Not much to be added to what thousands have already said: a tasty broth, not too fatty nor too salty which would allow you to have a pair of these bowls, great noodles, good toppings. An extra fast service (less than 1 minute for serving), a fair price, a convenient location. What else? That’s a 5-star. Well done Ichiran.
Doctor N — Google review
Short to no queue. The ramen quality is still as good. There are plenty of ramen options in Fukuoka but I just personally love the taste of Ichiran Ramen. It's definitely not the best but one of the more comforting and high quality broth and ramen.

Very good for a quick famous tonkotsu ramen. Usually very crowded but it goes quick. Was pretty smooth when I went there. But now I cannot eat it anymore because of my suden gluten allergy. Still recommend for people who want to try classics of fukuoka food I guess ?

You can expect a small line that moves quickly. There is a machine where you make your initial order, and it has an English option. You can tap to pay if your cc allows. Once lined up, you'll get a page, also with English. You can customize your order. If you're with others, they will reasonably tru to seat you together but honestly, it's best enjoyed as a solo experience. At your little counter space, there is a personal tap for water and a privacy screen for after they serve you. If you need to communicate but don't want to talk, there are bilingual wood blocks that include one to indicate it's too noisy. The raman is delicious and served hot to your specifications. Which, if you're like me and prefer firm noodles, garlic, and strong dashing flavour, it will make you happy.

Classic Ichiran experience. Order and pay at the booth, customize your order while waiting in line for a seat, and then enjoy your ramen at your stall. Self-serve water and other basics like tissues and chopsticks. Hooks underneath the table and clothes hanger behind you for coats. Ramen was good and consistent as usual. The pork belly wasn't too fatty, which I appreciated. Extra firm noodles are 💯 Note: from the street corner, enter the building and take the escalators down. At the food court, take a right. Ichiran is at the end of the hall.

Pretty much eat and go. It is made for individual eating. This place, you order and pay on a touch screen before grabbing a seat. I find it nothing really special besides their famous name. You can choose how well you want your noddles, they let you choose up to one clove of garlic to add, the spicy level (if you can handle your spicy, then the hottest they have is not even hot. The regular size is about the size of an American small bowl or you can get their set which includes extra noodles. The service is absolute awesome, once you give them your tickets and the questionnaire then it comes out in five minutes or less.

NICE is a plant-based cafe and restaurant located in the peaceful neighborhood of Kego, just outside Tenjin. The cafe offers a simple yet delicious plant-based menu, featuring items like plant-based burgers, falafels, and banana-based nice cream. The minimalist and clean ambiance of the cafe adds to its charm. Customers can also catch a glimpse of the chef at work as the kitchen is completely open.
This place is one of kind. Everything is handmade with love, even down to all of the different sauces they use. We were in Fukuoka for 4 days recently and went here for two of our dinners. I wish it could've been more! All the burgers we had were incredibly delicious and unique, you can't get these flavors anywhere else. I can't wait to come again!

I went there twice in three days. It is really good quality food both burger and veggie that will make you happy. I love how the owner make the burger patties from scratch himself and pick the fresh ingredients for salad. I hope his business will continue to grow and I look forward to visiting him again. I wish his restaurant is opened at the same city / country as where I live, then I will just dine there everyday 😍😁, be well fed and stay focus :)

Fabulous vegan burger place with tasty burgers & flavorful toppings like genovese basil cheese topping!! 😋 The buns are also very nice 🙂 can't wait to return and try a different flavor, the nachos or dessert as it all looks great. Very small open-kitchen, shared table place good for solo or small group eaters. The food came out so fast.

Healthy AND delicious! I really like the patties and cheese specifically. And while the burgers are the main product, I was also surprised by how good the ice cream is. It's truly impressive how there is no meat products and yet it tastes so good. The owner has really put so much dedication and effort into crafting his recipes.

I am not a big fan of burger in general but I gotta say that their buns are to die for!!! So goooood! A very solid and pretty vegan burger. We also tried their falafel and for a non-specialized nor Mediterranean place, it was very very decent and good! Their ice cream was also a nice dessert to have after the meal! Not that sweet and served with a bit of granola. What a treat!

These Burgers are an experience! Everyone should try these, meat or not, it doesn't matter. This is craftsmanship and passion put into food. Definitely one of the best burger I have ever eaten and THE best non meat burgers I have eaten. And the ice cream is made from scratch too, just look at the presentation!

Saw this place on YouTube and decided to give it a try while in FUK. Everything is vegan and burgers and sauces hand made by the owner. Food was delicious, I felt satisfied without feeling overly full like I normally do when having a burger and fries. Very nice and simple restaurant, limited seating.

Went here for lunch. I had a Mentaiko Burger, which was amazing. I am not vegitarian, but this was just great food! My daughter har the monthly special (caramelized onion), and was also very happy! The food was filling, great service, nice atmosphere.
