Barry Island Brewers Fayre is a laid-back family pub and restaurant chain offering classic dishes and international favorites. They are known for their excellent value for money, with options like a hot buffet breakfast featuring great sausages, eggs, cereals, yogurts, pastries, and more. The Head Chef recommends the classic Smothered Chicken or mouth-watering Mixed Grill as popular menu choices.
Have been here a couple of times, Carl and the staff are the most polite in Cardiff and food is good, especially for the price. We will definitely be returning many times. One thing that would make the experience better would be if some rude families were asked to contain their children and behave with some fundamental decency, as last time we visited the family next to us had their kids running around in their socks and crawling on the floor, which is not appropriate for a restaurant.

A Saturday evening with a family of 6. The service to order at the bar was quick and staff where friendly. Although it was busy, 40 minutes from order to service was somewhat unusual for this restaurant as normally they are quick for service. The food was warm, pleasant and the staff were very friendly.

Had a really lovely time here recently while meeting up with a friend for dinner. Great staff and really helpful and friendly. The food was delicious! Hot and tasty and exactly what we wanted. A nice cosy place to relax over dinner and drinks.

Well we visited here a few times whilst staying at the premier inn Barry island next door. Food is lovely and very reasonablly priced. Before 6pm daily meals are £6 and deserts £2.99 each, bargain, as a wheelchair user this place is level access and there is plenty of space to turn around inside. Although this place can get busy service is brilliant. Bookings for tables may be reccomended here.

Me and my mother were staying in the Premier Inn next door for my 25th birthday. We had booked in for a meal deal with the Premier Inn which we found to be of incredibly good value. It included breakfast, a 2 course evening meal and a drink for an incredibly good price. Almost all of the regular menu was available in this deal. During the evening meal, the manager Carl and his team gave us incredibly good service and was very friendly. They did everything they could to make my birthday feel special. The food was prepared timely and of excellent quality. I would particularly recommend trying their steak since it was cooked to perfection. For breakfast the next morning, there was a wide array of choices. Once again, the food was of excellent quality. I would highly recommend visiting this place if you're in Barry Island. Especially if you're staying with the Premier Inn and you are offered the meal deal with your stay

Well as Brewers Fayre’s go this one was a delight . We were staying in the Premier Inn next door and popped in for lunch - it was fairly busy but with a £5 lunch offer I’m not surprised. We ordered the gammon and fish and chips - expecting to receive a smaller portion for that price. The food arrived and it was a more than plentiful portion - set us up for the day! Service was good - take a table then order at the bar .

Great food and service.. staff were super friendly and efficient. We both plumped for the rump steak which was delicious and cooked to perfection for us.. 👌 I went for the caramel brown Betty with custard which was amazing 😋 my wife chose the banoffee cheesecake which was a generous portion and delicious.. Very enjoyable and good value

It’s what you would expect from brewers fayre food wise. Perfect for a value for money meal with your family. The service was excellent- I forgot to order my son’s pizza and Carl sorted it for me immediately and it was out within 10mins! He also made sure my friend who is gluten free was catered for well. Lovely experience and start to our break in Barry

Today I visited Marco's Cafe, a charming establishment located at John's cafe. The service provided by the staff was truly remarkable, as the lady attending to us demonstrated exceptional patience and kindness amidst the bustling atmosphere. This cafe is an ideal destination for fans of Gavin and Stacey, offering a delightful ambiance to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee regardless of the weather. The selection of delectable cakes available is quite tempting, while ample undercover seating ensures comfort for patrons.
Marco’s Cafe is a lovely place with great service and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff are very good – friendly, polite, and always happy to help. The food and drinks are fresh and tasty, perfect for a relaxing break near the beach. It’s a great spot to sit, enjoy a coffee, and watch the world go by. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!
Forhad T — Google review
Waited 1h for a sorry bacon & cheese baguette after being advised of a 30 min wait. All cheap ingredients and a shoe sole would have been softer than that piece of bacon. Perhaps cooking the bacon was what delayed our order for another 30 minutes? One of our orders wasn’t brought to the table. It might as well just have been sitting in the kitchen until we went to the counter to ask for it.
Claret F — Google review
Had a bacon baguette for breakfast. It was nice (can't tart up a bacon butty, lol) obviously popular with locals judging by the amount of re-usable cups people were using. Overlooking the sea, lots of seating, clean. Prices reasonable 🙂

Do nice paninis and other cafe like food, in a good location so always busy due to the Gavin and Stacey links

Gavin n stacey's stomping ground hasn't changed a bit. The staff are super friendly and guess where I was invited??? Carnival view from the cafe, pirates golf, beautiful sandy beach and ness's slot machines just next door!

If you love a bit of Gavin and Stacey, then this is the perfect place to visit. Great place to grab a tea/coffee and relax whatever the weather. Tasty cakes on offer. Great undercover seating. Lovely view of the beach. Pet friendly, which is always a bonus. Facilities were ideal. Great place to stop after a walk along the promenade.

The Sir Samuel Romilly - JD Wetherspoon is a vibrant and welcoming pub that perfectly captures the essence of British dining. With a menu featuring classic dishes alongside an impressive selection of ales and cocktails, it’s a favorite among both younger patrons and older visitors alike. The atmosphere is lively, making it an ideal spot to unwind after exploring Barry. One standout feature is its affordability, with pints priced under two pounds—a true gem for budget-conscious travelers!
This is the last place we ate on our perfect trip to Wales. I resisted a burger for two weeks since I only wanted to eat traditional Welsh food while there but I caved at Witherspoon's. I'm glad that I did as it was delicious. Nothing fancy, just a cheeseburger but the simplicity made it perfect. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and I had the chance to speak with yet another wonderful person who was seated behind me. Great prices as well. We were also served our biggest drink of our holiday!

It's not bad at all in here. Lots of room inside and outside. Tidy. We even invented a drink "The Barrie" Rum and Gin. Straight. Lovely

Local name "The Spoons" is a very popular pub and therefore busy mainly with young adults. The beer is very reasonable in price and quality. I tried an American burger, gherkins cheese slice and meat burger. Chips with it but nothing else but with a pint of Stella for a tenner.... Lots of attentive staff. It is a dark place with a small garden terrace. Lots of gaming machines with lots of space. Would go again.
Paul B — Google review
Historical pub with pretty outside and charming interior. Unfortunately food nothing special. Huge menu, pitza, burgers, fish and chips and other pub classics. Fantastic drinks from cocktails to beer on tap. Good place for drinks and if you stick to pub classics food okay. Problem is food pre cooked. Walk from Barry station or if staying at mount sorrel just down the hill from there. Toilets on site and plenty of parking. Good place for a get together with friends. TV’s for sport fans. Friendly staff and good service. Prices reasonable Love your local guide- M❤️ Like or follow me

Went here after my first experience at GlastonBarry. Atmosphere was lively and welcoming. It carried on the party even after the festival was over. Was served by the amazing Emily who was fast, efficient and polite even if some customers can’t show her the same respect. Had been raining but went to outside which helped had drinks by then had eased off found a quit table she was fine service was very good staff so friendly place is a bit dated but a nice building clean nothing wrong and for the first time ever food arrived I couldn't eat it not because bad but very very hot well done all the staff

I attended this pub on evening of 1st May, 2025. It was the only place in Barry serving (sit in) food after 21:30. I visited with my friend who is a wheelchair user. Steps at every entrance bar one that I could see, the wheelchair lift was broken at it though. My friend was disappointed and wanted to go get a take away instead. I went in to pub and asked if any access could be arranged for my friend..she was super nice and brought us in through another "garden" entrance where the lift WAS working. Delicious curry and beer to follow! Thank you so much to Sarah and Ben who could NOT have been more professional or nice. We had a super time and were delighted with the service, taste and atmosphere. Well done!

📌 Wayne's Eats - Local Food Blogger for South Wales (Instagram/Facebook Review) "One will never regret having a Caesars Baguette" No seriously this is easily one of my favourite lunch time meals when working at home, which happens to be every day 😏 No I'm kidding but seriously if I could I would 😅 📌 @caesars_coffee ➡️ Today's Menu: 🍗 Southern Fried Chicken baguette with mayo and melted cheese. 📍 Review: Easily one of my favourite cafe/coffee shops in Barry! I've recently learned a new hack for this baguette, normally I would just have it quite simply with mayo but when you add the melted cheese on top it gives this a whole new dimension. Highly recommended 👍

McDonald's is a beloved fast-food institution that has stood the test of time, renowned for its iconic burgers and crispy fries. During my recent visit to a McDonald's on the way to Barry, I found it conveniently located and pleasantly uncrowded. The staff were commendable, especially one lady who went above and beyond to assist customers. Although there was a minor hiccup with an item missing from my order, it was swiftly addressed.
Dropped by here on a Saturday afternoon, typical mackies, service was a little slow some issue with the mc flurries.
Paul — Google review
I get it’s McDonalds but come on Every time I order something is wrong I think some employees need to take time reading orders more Ordered a veggie delux and I always get extra cheese no sandwich sauce. Tell me why it has ketchup on it? That’s not even an option nor did I click it 😭
Hope C — Google review
Very poor service at Barry. Often incorrect meals delivered. Tried to alter an order straight away, 12 attempts to call in 17 mins, not picked up once. Spoilt young grandsons night. Great customer service!
Craig ( — Google review
Worst one in country !!! Never gets a simple order right and always missing food always cold always rubbish. Stay clear
Jack H — Google review
Omg worse McDonalds I have had the pleasure to grace!! When I lived in Dinas Powys this was alway a bad venue, with orders always having a problem!! So no change yesterday. Under cooked chips that tasted like cardboard, and two plain single cheeseburgers when I know I ordered two double cheeseburgers. This was a drive through so not going to go back. Barry you need to work harder and listen to orders better. Not going to recommend or visit again anytime soon. Take a leaf out of Risca’s book

Biased with your your services I paid for £26 meal take away and was given chicken nuggets only drove for 30 minutes to reach home hungry excited to open my meal to my surprise it was wrong order. Discussed with supervisor and manager how staff messed up my order but didn’t get any help.

Located on the way to Barry this McDonald’s was in a good spot and wasn’t too busy when we stopped here. Service was good. 1 lady very helpful there. 1 item missing from order but quickly resolved. Parking was good and staff were working hard to keep the place tidy.

During my recent stay in Sully, I had the pleasure of visiting Morrisons Cafe for a late breakfast. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, thanks to the incredibly friendly staff who were diligently working hard despite being a small team of just two. The menu boasted an impressive variety of options, from healthy snacks to hearty meals and delightful desserts. With ample seating available, I enjoyed a piping hot meal that was both delicious and satisfying.
Stopped here for a late breakfast whilst staying in Sully. The staff are so friendly and work really hard getting the food prepared and out to everyone considering there was only two staff members on. Lots of selection on foods and drinks, ranging from healthy snacks to meals and puddings. Loads of seating, meal came out hot and was really tasty! Would recommend the traditional breakfast. My Mum and Dad recommend the fish and chips! 🐠🍟🍳👌
Laura I — Google review
Worst meal ever. Chips and peas hard and cold. Staff member rude because they only bought one meal out to my table when paid for 2. When i questioned it, she was very rude and said you had someone else's order, I told her it wasn't my problem if she hadn't checked the table numbers. Eventually had the 2nd meal which was horrendous . Fish with very soggy batter and cold peas and chips. The cafe is very grubby in places and not a nice place to eat. I'm actually feeling sick as i write this.

50 min wait for a simple breakfast. Pretty empty as well Staff do seem to work hard just not enough of em I guess. Apologetic lady came out and gave me an update.
Jonathan B — Google review
Absolutely terrible, will never go again. Advise everyone not to make the mistake we did. One staff member serving with a face down to the floor. Kitchen staff slapped food on table, there was food missing, it was rectified in a fashion/attitude. Breakfast horrendous and so badly cooked. Not warm enough, pre-heated so much food was dry and hard. Bad quality produce or just destroyed by cooking method. Tea/coffee mugs dirty. Only 1 coffee machine working so large unhappy, vocal queue. No serviettes. Restaurant needs a thorough clean. Morrisons should be ashamed. Lost our custom permanently. Had to give 1 star as no option to give 0.
Sarah P — Google review
This is not the fault of the cafe staff. This is the fault of the management. We came to have a little afternoon lunch on a Saturday ordered some food via the app and it took ages to arrive as there where only two members of staff on ( one of whom was in the kitchen ) who were working there socks off. The food was nice but took ages to arrive for obvious reasons. The parts about this trip that where truly annoying where there where no forks!! I felt bad having to take ask for one so I ended up just using a knife. Morrisons Management Team, DO A BETTER JOB. Those poor staff in the cafe probably feel rubbish because of you!!
Matthew B — Google review
I recently ate at the Diss restaurant in Norfolk, England. The food was delicious, served well and was a very enjoyable family experience - so I decided to try Morrisons in my home town. It couldn't have been more different! Food dry, given garden peas not the ordered mushy peas, bread and butter didn't appear on my order. One hot water dispenser not working ... But, I gave it another go this week, incase it was a little blip?!? Unfortunately very similar experience except now 2 hot water dispensers weren't working, only one slice of bread and butter (menu offered 2) but I got the mushy peas 🎉. Very disillusioned staff, and I totally understand why. Not going to bother again - I'll just shop and go.
Julie K — Google review
We just wanted a bacon butty and a cuppa. The mugs were all filthy so we opted for bottled water instead. There was one person covering the till, waiting the tables and cleaning up. Needless to say the wait was ridiculous and the whole place was really dirty. Wo 't be going there again
Andrea G — Google review
Breakfast arrived and looked lovely. I realised we had not been given our cup for tea so I asked staff. A male staff member shouted from kitchen he was just putting dishwasher on so I would have to wait. The female staff member then told me to go to the coffee shop at the other end of the cafe and get one. I went to get one and she followed me.... Not sure why she couldn't get it for me, my breakfast was sat going cold. I returned to my seat and wanted some brown sauce so I again asked... I was told the builders the other end of the cafe had it to go and ask them... 1 bottle if sauce for whole cafe... Not covid safe at all. The cafe was not full however the staff couldn't be less interested in the customer. This was a treat however after walking around the cafe several times whilst my breakfast went cold it felt like a chore.

Cafe Atlantic is a charming 50s-style diner with a great atmosphere. The staff are known for being polite and helpful, and the wait times are fair. Despite inflation, the prices remain very reasonable. Customers appreciate the option to swap out any item they don't like from their orders. The food is cooked fresh and delicious, whether it's breakfast or lunch. With friendly service and excellent value for money, this cafe is highly recommended by many visitors who have enjoyed their meals there.
Tried it this morning, not one of the best but thee best full breakfast I had, unbelievable fast service and £14.95 for full breakfast and normal breakfast with tea and coffee very highly recommended

The place is very much on the back of beyond in Barry. It has the typical cafe feel to it with the sauces and condiments out on display, unfortunately that includes the help yourself to the not so shiny on display cutlery. The cups and plates also look like they need a very deep clean or maybe even replacing. However the staff and service are faultless and very quick and the food taste nice albeit served crammed and piled on a small plate.
Stewart M — Google review
Large breakfast waited a year for this breakfast…..well worth the wait 5 star ⭐⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Marc — Google review
Proper old-school café, a genuine Greasy Spoon. Situated near to a trading estate, it is a little out of the way. Inside, there's a fair bit of space. They can probably seat about 60 people. Which is odd as from the outside it does not look like a particularly large building. The menu has, as you would expect, a full English breakfast with various size options. There are other options on the menu as well. Portions are value for money, cooked fresh and filling. Large mugs of tea and other drinks can be purchased. The staff are great, warm and welcoming. It was a genuinely positive and unpretentious experience visiting Café Atlantic.

Went here today and well what a shock the food was! Breakfast was just 50% beans and too greasy. My partner ordered a cheese toastie and it was inedible. The cheese was tasteless and hard, they served it all fallen apart. It was just awful. Service was okay other than the fact they clearly didn’t care about the quality of food they provide because even just to look at it was awful.

Great little cafe! Does a great breakfast, and the staff are very friendly and VERY helpful: We got unexpectedly called out while waiting for our breakfast to be dished up, had to run and leave our drinks and everything. But they were really kind and gave us a fresh breakfast and drinks on our eventual return, all gratis. We were so grateful. Will definitely be back again!

Excellent breakfast, reasonable price. Lovely staff always happy and ready to chat as they work. Especially good with our little grandson who thinks you're all amazing.

Cafe
Tuck In Cafe is a cozy spot with a casual atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu offers a good selection of well-prepared food, including paninis, salads, and breakfast options. While some visitors have noted slight imperfections like overcooked bacon or undercooked baguettes, many praise the delicious meals and great coffee at reasonable prices. The cafe is known for its piping hot food served in a clean environment with ample parking outside.
Modest little cafe with parking outside. Good menu selection and well-prepared food. I had a most excellent chilli and chips (but sadly couldn't taste any chilli heat at all). but I'll eat it again another day for sure!

Great little cafe, a little run down around the edges, but importantly the food is delicious, the service friendly and attentive, and extremely reasonably priced. Take away offered too. Enjoy a cheeky breakfast here every week or so. Thanks!

Great coffee at reasonable price. I had a panini with salad - fresh and delicious. My friend’s baguette was a little bit pale/undercooked though. Staff were friendly and polite. Casual atmosphere, but not too noisy or crowded. Would recommend :)

Nice food, slightly over cooked bacon, but on the whole it was nice. Service was also good and the place was clean and tidy.

Cafe
Denises Cafe is a charming spot nestled on Woodham Road in Barry, where you can indulge in a delightful array of affordable meals. The menu boasts an enticing selection of breakfast favorites like scrambled eggs and bacon, alongside satisfying lunch options such as sandwiches, salads, and hearty soups. With its cozy ambiance, Denises Cafe provides the perfect backdrop for enjoying quality time with friends or family over delicious food.
It is a lovely cafe, not the warmest of places due to very high ceilings and not enough heating to cater to the size of the premises. It is of a good size and can cater to around 40 people. The food was very good and a very good price. If I was going to be critical, which is what I am, I am critical, as I like people to know why they should or should not visit a place, in my opinion. The size of the food was plentiful, but as you will see by the picture, it does not show all the food on the plate. There were 3 rashers of bacon, 3 sausages, 2 hash browns, 2 eggs, black pudding (hiding), beans, mushrooms and separate toast, and a lovely cup of tea. A shame they don't use tea pots, so you can enjoy a couple of cups of lovely fresh tea. All in all, it is a lovely place to go for a nice hearty breakfast with good service and a lovely atmosphere.

Absolutely delicious food, had a pastrami, cheese and chutney sub, and my wife had a tasty bacon and cheese panini. Couldn't fault them at all, the owner is lovely, and she was training Val, who did a fantastic job as a trainee. We owe you some money, as we were undercharged, so will have to return to pay our dues! Thank you so much!

Food was great, it was Denise's birthday. Back end of room was like a building site, and it's not as cosy as the old place was, but it will be I'm sure. Very friendly, great food as usual. Highly recommend.

I've never actually been there but I won't mark them down for that. I've always ordered as take away and I've NEVER been sorry. Food is always delivered on time or early and comes piping hot. I'm not a massive fan of take out. In most take out places the burgers taste like cardboard - overcooked, dry and lacking flavor and the rest of the food is often not better. It's fine for a quick meal if you don't feel like cooking but I'm rarely excited by the prospect. Denise's food is an example of take out done well. The burgers from this place actually taste flame grilled, they are juicy and tender. There's so much flavor. Their baguettes never come soggy, no matter what's in them. They are packed generously with fillings and always taste good. Their breakfast menu is delicious. It's a good size - generous without being overwhelming and again, the quality is high. My eldest son is quite picky when it comes to take out. He's not a massive pizza fan, is a picky eater in general, doesn't like burgers and so mostly will only eat chicken, chicken nuggets or a chicken wrap. It's just easier to cook at home for him. But he REALLY likes the baguettes from Denise's cafe. I think he'd even like more of the menu as well. When you eat from this place, you don't feel like you're eating take out, you feel like you're eating something home made (by someone who knows how to cook). Everything is made with care and is really really good. I've never had an issue with delivery times and everything is always packed with care. I don't drive or I'd definitely visit them and eat in. I think my mum would really like it. I am looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. It's a real treat to eat from here.

Excellent family business. Looked after four adults and four children really well. We all enjoyed our food and drinks at lunchtime. And the children enjoyed a whippy ice cream which was part of the children meal. Would recommend. 😋

There’s nothing that gets the heart racing on this industrial estate quite like the sacred beep beep of Denise’s delivery food van. It’s our Pavlovian bell, summoning us from forklifts and spreadsheets alike. But it’s not just any beep. It’s the glorious trumpet that heralds the arrival of Steve, the man, the myth, the wrap wrangling legend. Steve doesn’t just bring food, he brings hope. An excellent selection of hot food and snacks that somehow taste even better when consumed while leaning against a skip in hi-vis. Whether it’s a bacon bap that could raise the dead or a hot wrap that hits the spot... Denise’s van is the spiritual centre of this estate. God bless the beep. God bless Steve. And God bless those snacks.

Visited recently, a 1st visit for me. The new premises at Atlantic trading estate are still work in progress so a bit “bland / flat” but the Very friendly welcome Denise the owner provides, engaging with us and making conversation - which is a rare thing nowadays - made it a great experience. Ordered full English breakfast which was good quality ingredients, a good portion, good value and arrived piping hot (except my sausages which were unfortunately cold). I would definitely recommend and will return especially for the home made brownies which are delicious.
