Ice cream shop
Santini is a renowned ice cream parlor founded in 1949 by Italian immigrants. It is considered to have some of the best ice cream in the world, with their strawberry flavor being a favorite classic. The market also features other well-known restaurants and stores such as Conserveira Nacional, Garrafeira Nacional, Arcadia (one of Portugal's oldest chocolatiers), and Monte Mar (a famous seafood restaurant).
If you want gelato you must go here! It is popular for a reason…. It is DELICIOUS! You pre-pay which is nice so there isn’t pressure when you order your flavors. It is about 4 euros for a small but you can get two flavors. Which of course I did after sampling a few. I ended up with coconut and dulce de leche. The gelato was creamy and rich and just beyond good. It is the good stuff too, they don’t fill it with air!! Don’t hesitate to stop here for an afternoon snack.
Kenzie W — Google review
Classic spot, but overly sweet and limited options. Santini has an old-world charm that definitely feels nostalgic, and it’s clear the place has a long-standing reputation in Cascais. The interior is clean and well kept, and the staff were friendly and efficient. It’s the kind of place people remember from childhood vacations, so it has a loyal following. That said, the gelato itself was a a letdown. It was much sweeter than expected, and the flavors didn’t really stand out. It lacked the depth and richness you’d find in more modern gelaterias. It felt more sugary than flavorful, and after a few bites, it became too much. They also had very few options for people with dietary restrictions. There were only a couple of sorbet-type flavors for those avoiding lactose, and none of them were particularly exciting. If you’re used to places that offer almond or coconut-based alternatives, this might feel limited. It’s worth trying if you’re nearby and curious about a local institution, but if you’re looking for bold flavors or lactose-free choices, there are better spots in Cascais.

Delicious ice cream! I had the lemon chocolate chip and the pistachio and they were both perfect. Highly recommend
Neta P — Google review
🍧 Santini Gelato – Cascais, Portugal Found one of the best gelatos of my life in this seaside town. My favourite combo: Chocolate Chips, Mango and Coconut. The chocolate had crunchy bits, the mango tasted like the real fruit, and the coconut was perfectly sweet with real flakes. Went back twice the next day because I couldn’t resist. 🫶 If you spot a Santini in Portugal, go in and treat yourself. Totally worth it. 🇵🇹✨
Cassie C — Google review
Try their brigadeiro and coconut flavors. Unreal taste. Unmatched to the flavors I’ve tried before. 5.70€ for a medium one in which 3 flavours can be chosen. I did the portuguese mango too. Highly recommend. The queue worth the wait
Vinay G — Google review
They are not over hyping themselves when they claim to be the best ice cream in the world! Pistachio and Coffee were my favourite. Texture is really really good.
Ed T — Google review
Texture of the ice cream was really good. Not too creamy nor icy. Pistachios was nutty with a bite. Coffee was with chocolaty bites and passion fruit was sour enough!
TTT — Google review
I visited in late September and enjoyed a delicious treat before catching the train back to Lisbon. They are known for their fruit flavors, so do try them! I think I got raspberry and mango, YUM!

In addition to their delicious pastries, they offer a variety of hot and cold drinks, including freshly squeezed orange juice. The cozy ambiance is adorned with colorful decor and African objects, creating a unique atmosphere.
I ate there for lunch and it was a great experience. I ordered a salad and it's not really expensive and tasty. The staff is incredibly nice! I recommend

The cakes were a delight - probably the best pastel de nata I've ever had. Service is friendly, there are lots of seats and clean toilets (you have to ask for a token at the till). The matcha looks weirdly grey and tasted sandy, but gave an energy boost which lasted for the rest of the day.
Graham B — Google review
During a brief visit to Cascais, we serendipitously came across this café while casually wandering about and our eyes were drawn by the beautiful baked goods they had on display. The staff members at the register were very friendly, answering any questions that we had in an impressively professional and courteous manner. A lot of European countries, including Portugal, generally don’t have a tipping culture but if they did, this is one such instance where those at the service industry should receive a massive tip. We ordered several pastel de nata to take away which was carefully packed for us for our journey back to Lisbon. Theirs is definitely one of the best ones I’ve ever tried in Cascais, maybe even all of Portugal. Impressive service and outstanding food – a must try while in Cascais!

Really nice cafeteria! The pastries are amazing and coffee as well! I highly recommend this place! Even the interior design is really nice!

I stopped by Bijou and tried their Berlin Ball. Overall, it reminded me a lot of sweets back in North America, especially donuts at Timmy’s, so I’d give it 7.5/10
Andy L — Google review
Very quaint little bakery! Beautiful sweet treats! The pasteis de natas are delicious! The croissants were average. The pao (bread) was great with butter. Service was amazing
Valeri W — Google review
One of the most amazing bakery products store in Cascais or even Portugal - the products were amazing and so was the place! The staff was very courteous and helped make the selection - we enjoyed the Chocolate Biscuit as they called it and Jesuit’s de Amendoa - an Almond delicacy and one of their specialties! Both are a must try - the place should be on your to-visit-list, if incase you are travelling to #cascais

The cafe also serves coffee, espresso, tea and desserts.
Booked a table by the window with a view of the ocean. Prawn curry served with rice and a sweet relish - not spicy and slightly sweet. Bean soup was light. Black Forest cake for dessert was light and a little odd with the strawberry on top as it’s usually a cherries. Cake was light and not too sweet but could have done with some kirsch. Coffee was great. Also got some cookies to go and they were all different in taste and extremely tasty and well made. Service was outstanding.

Great coffee time with excelent desserts. Pavlova and Crem Brûlée was perfect. If you don’t know what to choose you can always ask a nice lady there she is absolutely gorgeous. Whatever you will ask is better than you know from the past 😂. But it’s true. Everything is so delicious 😋. Maby except the burger ….

Incredible. Went here for breakfast on holiday and it was amazing. The atmosphere was brilliant and peaceful, despite the amount of people there. I ordered French toast with banana and it was amazing. I also had their hot chocolate with salted caramel which was just so smooth and rich. Staff were lovely and quick considering the size of the restaurant and everything came within a more than reasonable time.

Very classy restaurant for casual dining in 2 main indoor rooms and a semi enclosed patio . Extensive menu. They also have a separate cake/pastry and coffee section. All looks so delicious. Pictured is the avocado toast with bacon and egg (€9.50). This restaurant has been established generations ago and appears to have lots of regular customers. We sure would be if we lived here.

If one is sufficiently fortunate to leave the crowds on the paredao and still have a few euros to spend after frequenting the Casino and golf courses, Garrett in Estoril is a wonderful place to experience the “Old Portugal.” Many others have described their excellent coffee and cakes, but few people seem to be aware that they also (on site), hand-make decorated cookies in many different shapes; and, if one orders ahead, you may have as many dinosaurs, horses, butterflies or other forms from their zoologico to take with you in the colours of your choice. Thanks to Bruno, we celebrated Canada Day in Saskatoon, with lovely little bees!

I can’t speak highly enough of this beautiful restaurant. The food was delicious, atmosphere was 5 stars & the best part was our very funny, kind & helpful waiter CARLOS!! A well run bakery chain. This locations a personal favorite from our last visit to Cascais. Normally we come here for the great coffee, snack & our daily bread. While getting settled in new house without internet, makes a great Starbucks substitute - actually blows S away. Other pictures are from our winter trip. Holiday cakes & bûche de Noël. Yum!

If you have a craving for something sweet, be sure to visit Gelateria Italiana Fabio Lupi in Cascais. This hidden gem offers a wide selection of delicious gelato flavors (26 to be precise), which are made with fresh and light ingredients. The ice cream is not overly sweet, ensuring a satisfying treat. However, when enjoying your gelato by the harbor, it's advised to be cautious of seagulls who may try to steal a bite.
Great ice cream shop with lots of delicious flavours. Visited the shop while staying in Cascais a couple of times and I was impressed by the quality of the ice cream. As a person with allergy to gluten this was one of the first places that popped up during my search. While placing the order I always made sure to inform the staff about my allergies beforehand and they were super knowledgeable and rigorous with their handling - serving my ice cream in the back kitchen on safe and clean containers. They even have gluten free cones that are actually good! This place was a great find, I hope I could find more places like these where I feel safe eating on a regular basis.
Kostas K — Google review
If you have any allergies or dietary requirements/preferences at all, you should stay away (is practically what they told us after my friend had an allergic reaction due to cross contamination as they did not clean the equipment between customers). The staff was unfriendly, their regular ice cream underwhelming and everything here is overpriced compared to quality. Cannot recommend this place.
Amanda H — Google review
Great ice cream shop. Very allergy aware and accommodating, as they happily opened new containers from the back to ensure no cross contamination! Highly recommended for yummy ice cream, especially if you have a little one with tree nut, or gluten allergies.
Nuno D — Google review
They don't care about cleaning. They dip the scoops in a tiny tub of dirty water between servings. I got an allergic reaction from regular ice cream because they scooped ones containing nuts before. Then they tell me cross contamination is normal and I shouldn't come there if I have any allergies. I wouldn't go for their advertised gluten free options for sure if that's how they clean things. The ice cream itself was overpriced and not great tasting.
Kamil G — Google review
AVOID if you have allergies or food intolerances! My partner got an allergic reaction because they didn't clean the scoop properly after the previous client. Not only did they not offer a refund when we talked to them; not only did they start ignoring us completely when we suggested they could at least give us the money back (me standing with the melting ice cream in my hand, clearly visible) - they didn't even ask if he was okay, if he needed help! They claim they have gluten-free options for their waffles and similar, but I would really not trust them on this. They just don't care. And the little tub of water they put the scoops in to "clean" them was quite disgusting.
Dominika D — Google review
Ice cream is OK: But service?! As mentioned by others: Plain Horrible! The lady server is RUDE as hell with Guests! Em português: é Atroz! Will have to find an alternative!
Antonio S — Google review
Great Ice-Cream shop with lots of variety. They were very helpful with our daughter who has an allergy and the lady serving us went above and beyond, even opening new containers from the back. Down a nice side-street and no queuing. Forgot the hype of Santinis, this place is better and cheaper!

Artisani is situated along the Paredao, a popular seaside walking strip in Cascais with a rich history dating back to the 1950s. The gelato shop offers a variety of flavors and generous portion sizes, making it an ideal treat for beachgoers. While some visitors enjoy the cafe's cappuccino and sandwiches, others appreciate the refreshing sorbets and ice creams, such as the lemon-basil flavor.
Artisani is located on the seaside walking strip called “Paredão” by locals, right at the same spot where a famous Disco & Bar named Palm Beach, flourished back in the 60’s. The construction of the “Paredão” took place in 1950 (67 years ago) and started in Estoril, in the tunnel next to the church, ending at the Monte Estoril train station. It later was extended to the east of Tamariz and the Duchess beach in Cascais, where Artisani is located. The “Paredão” is undoubtedly one of the most used and appreciated equipments of our village and the Artisani’s esplanade is a beautiful place to enjoy the Cascais Bay views, while tasting a great ice cream, waffle, etc. Today, I had the Palm Tree cleared of old pending leafs and cleaned by my gardener, in memory of the great times I spent here at the Palm Beach, back in the 60’s. I ♥️ Cascais. Thanks to #cascais #history #historiadecascais #arquivohistoricodecascais #historiasdahistoriadecascais # h2c #paredao

Nice as a little counter-order cafe (didn't try the ice cream). Cappuccino was very good, seemed to have cinamon or something? which I really liked. The tuna sandwich was good at first but ultimately I got tired of it. Too much mayonnaise

Forget Santini 's, this is 💯% the BEST gelato shop in Portugal (I would say the world but I haven't travelled around the world). The service is 5⭐. They were unbelievably kind and lets you taste test a few of the flavours 🍦. I had the Tchipepa and Cascais. I really recommend that combination. The Tchipepa flavour is vanilla with chocolate chunks but it isn't that flavourless tiny non existent dots it was actual big chunks of chocolate and the Cascais ice cream tasted like mint but with the flavour of the air at the beach. It was absolutely amazing. Of course if your not into that you can have many other flavours! There are so many flavours I never knew existed as ice-cream, like Tchipepa, Cascais, Melon or Quark lime. I really really recommend going to this place Tchipepa, I want you to know I come here and will continue to come here every year.

Sacolinha is a charming spot to start your day with a delightful morning coffee and delectable pastries. Indulge in traditional Portuguese treats like Pastel de Nata and Bola de Berlim. However, it's important to note that only cash payments are accepted here. Enjoy the lovely baked goods, flavorful coffee, and incredible cakes – don't miss out on the Bola de Berlim!
Local bakery with freshly made, delectable, mouth watering pastel de nata pastries and great coffee! Very friendly staff and well priced. Highly recommend!

Attention! The menus do not display prices. You place your order without knowing the cost, which feels quite misleading. I asked the waiter, and he told me that the prices were verbal.
Vivianne — Google review
One of my favorite bakeries in Lisbon! I came across Sacolinha while I was Googling about for the best sweet treats in Lisbon, and was immediately drawn in by their massive selection and great reviews. Cascais is, unfortunately, quite far from the heart of Lisbon, but I was thankfully planning to make a trip out there as part of a tour group (shoutout to Buendia's Sintra / Cascais tours) so had the perfect opportunity to check out Sacolinha's giant pastry case. My mom and I decided to split an assortment, which included two mini bola de berlim, as well as two different types of castanhas de ovos. The bola were lovely; they were super soft and pillowy, and the fillings (one was egg custard, the other nutella, I think) were both great. They were a smidge too sweet and did slightly remind me of American donuts, but they were a bit softer and less overwhelmingly sweet than their US counterparts. My favorite, though, had to be the castanhas de ovos. I already love chestnuts, so having the world's best nut translated into a dessert was a dream come true. They were so delicious that my mom and I had to come back to buy a box of six to bring home with us. The store itself is a pretty simple, but large pastaleria. It tends to get pretty crowded, but there's, thankfully, ample indoor and outdoor seating. You order up at the counter, and then they'll log your order onto a standard card, which you can later take up to the register to cash out. It's a bit of an odd system, but honestly makes the ordering way more efficient, since you don't have to wait for everyone's credit cards to process or cash to get counted, and you can go up to the register to pay at your leisure.
Sonya H — Google review
Expensive, mediocre service, only accepts cash payments. In Portugal, in several Cafes, the same menu (coffee, orange juice, croissant) can be bought for almost half the price, and the products are of better quality (Padaria Portuguesa, Padaria do Bairro, Pingo Doce, Auchan, etc, all offer the same for < €3, while here we pay €5.5). The survival of Sacolinha can only be justified by the lack of competition in the vicinity and by being in an area with a large influx of foreigners. The fact that it still does not accept card payments is surreal. The variety of pastries is good, it's a shame everything else isn't worth it.
David E — Google review
again, another boring menu as basic all over the country, small ration, bad meat. I wonder how the rich around this place can bear it again and again? The menu overall primitive without a real choice. I really don't know why I came again.

Pastelaria Bonjour is a beloved spot with a fantastic atmosphere and a super lovely owner. It's the go-to place for delicious cakes, waffles, croissants, sandwiches, coffee, and juices. While the coffee could be improved with specialty or filter options, it's still highly recommended. The bakery offers great cakes and cupcakes for any special occasion and is also known for its pet-friendly outdoor seating.
This is one of my favorite places to come since they open! I’ve been here like 100 times and I really like the energy. The owner is super lovely and nice. We’ve ordered many times cakes for birthday here and every time was delicious. Today we had breakfast with waffles, croissants, sandwiches, coffee and juices, it was all great 😊 the only thing I would say they could evolve in is coffee and upgrade for specialty coffee or at least filter coffee. I recommend this place and will come as many times as possible 🤗

It used to be a great place to get a coffee and nice pastries. Last weekend a coffee was served with a pastry that could not be cut with a knife. They said it was kept in the fridge. But we do that at home and it gets not like that. They also used to have good bread and now they have no fresh production and use plastic to keep the existing pieces on the shelves.

Chaos reigns in the establishment, the floor is not cleaned, the tables are dirty and sticky. Desserts taste like rubber and taste of using non-natural products. The filling is too sweet and you can feel the sugar, and the products themselves are like eating cotton wool. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this institution!

Great place to eat great pastries. You can get cakes as well there that fit nearly every situation. They have a nice big aquarium in a corner next to some tables inside which gives a great ambiance. They also have outside seating which in the summer is great to be at. You can pay in cash or card and also if you have a Portuguese bank with MB Way. Its prices are very reasonable. Staff is good as well. Very friendly most of the times.

Pastelaria Lutécia is a charming cafe and restaurant conveniently situated near the Cascais Bus terminal. While some find the food and pastries good but not exceptional, others appreciate the reasonably good portion sizes for main dishes. The desserts are described as tasty, albeit not always fresh. Why So Cereal Café in Cascais is a delightful spot offering over 100 varieties of cereals, various milk options, coffees, lemonades, and dishes like the appetizing Club Sandwich. The friendly service includes recommendations for free toppings ranging from sweets to chocolates. It's a must-visit for breakfast with its nostalgic American childhood cereals and European selections. You can enjoy your cereal with milk, yogurt, or even swirled into soft serve ice cream.
Love the concept, so original! Went there around 1pm, the lady was really sweet and answered all of our questions. Was very patient as well, it was very difficult to make a choice 😅 Would definitely come back! (+10 points for the milk water glass bottle)

They literally have every cereal I can remember from my American childhood and many I’ve never heard of as a visitor to Europe. You can choose to have a lovely bottle of milk, a jar of yogurt, or the cereal swirled into a soft serve ice cream. They also have basic breakfast items like orange juice, toast, sandwiches, etc. Really a fun spot with very kind service.

Why So Cereal is an amazing Cereal shop that serves you more than 100 variety of cereals, different milk options, coffees, lemonades, as well as dishes (we saw the Club Sandwich as being extremely appetizing but went for a double bowl of Trix and Miel Pops). The service was amazing, and the kind lady recommended an option of free toppings to our cereals (ranging from sweets to chocolates to other cereals). A must-visit for breakfast at least during your trip to Cascais.

Scoop 'n Dough Cascais is a charming spot in Cascais that offers some of the best doughnuts in the world. The flavors are unique and delicious, making each visit an opportunity to try something new. What's surprising is that this place is completely vegan, offering an incredible range of vegan ice creams as well. The hazelnut ice cream and pistachio donut are particularly noteworthy. The staff is friendly and allows customers to sample various flavors before making a decision.
We have to be honest - the idea of vegan ice cream & doughnuts put us off a bit but a family eating in front encouraged us to try & we are so glad we did. The chocolate hazelnut doughnut had the perfect texture and was filled with chocolate-hazelnut spread that oozed when you bit into it. If we hadn’t known, we never would have guessed it was vegan. The almond coffee ice cream was richly coffee flavored - the almond was more subtle but it was rich & creamy as ice cream should be. The cookies & cream was sweet with small cookie chunks. It melted quicker than the coffee one for some reason, so was quickly enjoyed. Highly recommend stopping in for a treat when you’re in Cascais!
Heather F — Google review
We were near by and wanted to get something sweet, we tought on trying the doughnuts and were actually quite nice and tasty, they were fresh and full of flavour. The banofee could have more toffee but it was amazing with bits of banana and the lemon one was delicious. The place had a great vibe on the back there’s like a inside terrace with plants and quite fresh place with great atmosphere. The workers were very friendly although there wasn’t a sit and serve service you have to pay and get it at the till we had a nice experience. If you’re coming specially for this place and come by car is quite hard to park nearby the best is to search for a parking area. Prices are high but the quality is worth it.

Not strong flavour in the ice creams and limited selection. The pistachio wasn’t strong and distinct so can’t have that many pistachios in it and the cookie dough was average. No chocolate option. Surprised about the ratings. The donuts did look amazing. Regret not getting one of those

Niccolò is a charming coffee and chocolate shop nestled in the new art & design space in Praca 5 de Outubro. The cafe offers excellent quality coffee, roasted on-site with love, although it may be slightly pricier compared to other options in the area. One of its highlights is the small seating area that basks in sunlight all day long, a rare find for cafes in Cascais.
I had coffee here every time I visited the town, and it is amazing. It is on a pricier side, but definitely worth more than Starbucks. The coffee is perfectly roasted and they give you a sample of their chocolate with every order. The stuff is very nice as well. Location is great, I like to catch one of those outdoor seats.

A discreet, hard to spot café & chocolate factory outlet, right at the centre of Cascais. Very tastefully decorated, it offers very good coffee; however, the star here is chocolate. From the divine, heart warming hot chocolate (liquid chocolate, actually), to the various chocolate combinations (with sesame, ginger, salt and pepper pistachio, etc.), all the way to their exquisite 100% cocoa chocolate, which is to die for: no bitterness, no acidity, a mellow flavour with excellent complexity and structure, makes it probably the best 100% on planet earth. No kidding.

The seller at the counter was extremely rude when I was ordering in English, like it was a chore to do so. After making a purchase he also said there's no restroom, even though other reviews here mentioned one? Would not recommend unless you speak Portuguese as to not offend the ego of the man who works there.
Saif A — Google review
This place is an absolute joke. We ordered a large frozen yogurt, and you’d think that would mean a decent amount of toppings, especially since the large costs more. Instead, they gave us literally two teaspoons of toppings. I’m not exaggerating. The Oreo “topping” was just a faint sprinkle, barely enough crumbs for pigeons, and the cookie pieces were almost nonexistent. To make it worse, the portion of toppings for a large is the same as for a medium, so you pay more for more yogurt, but not more toppings. It’s insulting. The customer service was just as bad. The guy serving us had the worst attitude rude, condescending, and completely unhelpful. It was like we were bothering him by being there. Save your money and go literally anywhere else for frozen yogurt. You’ll get more toppings, better service, and won’t leave feeling ripped off.
Lucia M — Google review
I was very excited for this place. We got in and ordered a large size which should mean more frozen yoghurt and more toppings right? No, not today. The frozen yoghurt serving was good but there was little to none toppings. It ended with basically just eating only the frozen yoghurt. When we asked if he could put a little more he said it was protocol to only out two small teaspoons of toppings and was rude about it. Save your money my friends!
Elias O — Google review
Hello, we went to Weel in Cascais this afternoon to eat frozen yogurt and we left empty-handed because we were not served. Indeed, the managers did not bother to check the allergens of their NATURE yogurt after our request because I am poly-allergic, and preferred to directly refuse to serve us. Fortunately not all the merchants are so discriminating, otherwise I would never eat outside like everyone else! I therefore do not recommend this establishment because the customer experience is to be avoided.

The ice cream is good, But the girl on service/cash today was not too friendly unfortunately, rushed us and simply told me stop buying I need to cash you out. I bought 5 only and didn’t get to order my 6th!

Ice cream - you usually can’t go wrong. But here you can! Mango sorbet = tasted of veggies, salted caramel = very bitter. Crepes = cardboard. Such a shame, great location let down by poor ice cream - avoid

Service seemed fine, until I had to ask them to check why my mango scoop tasted and smelled like raw fish (not nice) Their reply was,"We don't handle fish here, so that's impossible" I had my other half try it before I went to the staff and she confirmed it was fishy. Poor customer service, ruined my impression of the place. Will be in contact if I end up ill because of it.

The Gelato is really outstanding, i really enojyed my cone. During the ordering process i felt the personell was a bit silent and not very talkative. So i can confirm and understand that for other reviewers this is received "unfriendly", but since we got our icecream, all good.

i enjoyed the ice cream. they had lots of options and the flavor was nice. the service was good and the atmosphere is nice. nothing really much else to say

We order 8 single scoop ice creams - the grumpy waitress charged us for two scoops each. “We don’t sell single scoops”. Eh, why did you not say that when we ordered. I’ll take the additional scoops in a cup then please. “No we can’t do that”. Take off the balaclava and stop robbing kids!
Paul D — Google review
The ice cream taste good and not too sweet which is great. My daughter loves it! 🍦
