Hífen is a trendy restaurant and bar in Cascais, offering a modern take on Portuguese cuisine. It is popular among both locals and travelers seeking a change of flavor. The restaurant pays close attention to detail, particularly in serving the freshest seafood in unique ways. Their menu features delicious and original dishes designed for sharing, best enjoyed with their amazing cocktails from the bar. While it may be slightly pricey, Hífen provides an excellent dining experience with its charming ambiance and high-quality service.
The food was absolutely exceptional every bite was bursting with flavour and clearly made with care. The drinks were just as impressive. They were delicious, refreshing, and perfectly crafted. We enjoyed it all while taking in a stunning view of the beach, which made the experience even more special. The vibe was relaxed yet vibrant, creating the perfect atmosphere to unwind. To top it all off, our server was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Highly recommend if you’re in Cascais!

This restaurant was recommended as the ‘best meal of their life’. While it was not the best meal of our lives we did enjoy it overall. I enjoyed the diversity of menu options. They were unique and took a spin on the typical Portuguese cuisine. There were so many things on the menu that I wanted to try that it was almost overwhelming. We went with the prawns, traditional pork (with avocado), and yam tortilla. The prawns were good and had similar flavoring to the pork. The pork dish was my favorite. The yam tortilla was relatively bland and a ton of cream. We wrapped up our meal with the peanut butter parfait which came highly recommended. It was delicious. I definitely want to go back and try other dishes and would not hesitate to tell anyone who is visiting the area to go. You eat at the top of the restaurant and we were lucky to sit on the outside patio table. It was nice to eat right next to the water. (Side note: I really don’t like how they only have a QR code for the menu. I HATE that we have to have our phone out…)
Kenzie W — Google review
Vibrant spot in Cascais for excellent food & drinks. We enjoyed our time outside at a kind of a bartable at the sidewalk in front of Hífen with people watching and chatting. Service was great and the dishes as well as the mocktails to. Loved the non-alcoholic Spritz and the Mango Mojito. The meat dishes were tasty and the rice pudin a tasty explosion. Highly recommended with reservation!
Bettina S — Google review
This is a good place to enjoy a meal with friends. It has a fun vibe with nice views of the bay. The service was ok and not the friendliest on this night. The food was good but nothing that stands out.
Vu T — Google review
Super great find in Cascais! Beautiful restaurant right beside the beach. The salads were fresh and flavourful, as were the cocktails. Really enjoyed every bite and the presentation was very well executed!
Kelly H — Google review
My new favourite place for dinner. I’ve been multiple times and each time is either just as good if not better than the last. The staff is amazing, so fun and friendly. The location is top, views of the water and the center, great place to walk! The food options are INCREDIBLE, from classic Portuguese food with modern twist to new flavours that just so delicious. It’s family style dinning and the portions do not disappoint, the pricing is also very generous & affordable for such quality food. The drinks are also just perfect, really interesting options, especially for the mocktails. The desserts too, everything made in house and nothing is overly sweet. The showstopper is the banana dessert, I don’t think I’ve ever had something so decadent. Added bonus that allergens are listed on the menu, and eating gluten free as someone celiac is a breeze. I wish Hífen long term success!
Vanessa P — Google review
I’ve had a lot of great food and cocktails. But, the tuna steak sandwich and passion fruit sangria (not sure that’s the correct name, but it had passion fruit scraped into it from a fresh piece of fruit) was the best lunch I may have ever had. HIGHLY recommend!

An outstanding restaurant in a beautiful location. The staff is incredible and if you’re lucky enough to chat with Martin, make it a priority. A fantastic orator that is passionate about food and drink.

A very beautiful marina with cozy cafes and shops. There are public restrooms available. However, the parking payment system in the middle of the marina is not very clear, and the walk can be quite long. Still, the atmosphere makes up for this small drawback.

Malacopa Taco Bar is a beloved Mexican restaurant located in the heart of Bairro Amarelo, drawing both locals and tourists. The menu features delicious tacos and top-notch margaritas, creating a fun and vibrant dining experience. Visitors rave about the tasty fish tacos with well-balanced sauces and fresh ingredients that transport them to Mexico. The authentic flavors and textures make it the best spot for Mexican cuisine in Portugal.
Good food, festive vibe, and definitely a place where you’ll want to taste a lot of good tacos. The flavors are bold, portions are shareable, and the energy is contagious. Perfect for a night out with friends or a casual dinner with great cocktails. Don’t miss the tacos—and if you’re thinking of just one plate, think again. Everything comes out looking and tasting amazing.
Sofie J — Google review
Portions are really small. Tacos are dry, not enough aoli mayo and vegetables. Shrimp was also not deveined with black staff of you know what left for me to eat. Would not recommend. The only reason we landed here so because all restaurants in the area are closed or only serve snacks 4-6pm
Natallia P — Google review
The whole street that Malacopa is on is a delight. Diners sitting in the street and a vibrant atmosphere. The food and drinks here do not disappoint. I had the spicy mango margarita which was delicious. My husband had a paloma which was also excellent. We dined on the guacamole and had scallop, beef, and chicken tacos which were so tasty. They give you three spicy sauces with the guac so you can add additional kick should you wish. We ended the meal with churros and some wine. The service is excellent and there is even a friendly dog (Bruce) who will come and say hi to you.
Olivia S — Google review
Such a great place, don’t leave it till your last night! They have dancing till late after food service, our waitress’s Vanessa & Su were so much fun! The best margaritas in town, watch out for the spicy 🌶️ sweets with your bill! lol

A Hidden Gem We’ll Never Forget 🌮🍹 We accidentally stumbled upon this place and it turned out to be one of the best taco and tostada spots we’ve ever been to—hands down. We ordered the fish taco and the camaron ceviche tostada, and both were incredible. Super fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. I also had the passionfruit margarita, and it was deliciously tart—if you’re a fan of passionfruit, do yourself a favor and order it. From the food to the vibe, everything felt like a lucky discovery we’ll be talking about for a long time. Highly recommend!

The food was delicious and the staff was so sweet! Highly recommend! We got the chicken enchiladas, tinga tacos, carne asada and a few drinks! All of it was amazing!

Best cheese, wine, bread combo ever. We went specifically for the charcuterie board and loved it. A really large portion too. Vibes were nice by the window watching the world go by. Good service also.

Had a great time at The Tasting Room in Cascais. The food was amazing — every dish we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed and cozy. Sitting outside on the quiet street made the experience even better. I’d definitely go back!

Very nice atmosphere! Sitting outside on the tables, drinking wine 🍷 and having really tasty food!
Mariana K — Google review
Amazing place, and amazing staff. The staff knows a lot about wines. Every wine we drank, which were a lot, they knew something to tell you about the wine. The staff has a lot of knowledge about them. The wines are delicious and theres a lot of different choices, with matching tapas! When we were speaking with a staff member, we told him that we are going to Porto in a few days. He gave us a lot of recommendations for Porto, and some winehouses we should visit in the Duoro Valley. Amazing place, will come back next year when we visit again!
Dion P — Google review
A recommended spot for lunch that did not disappoint! My husband and I enjoyed the sardines, codfish cakes, octopus cakes and tempura beans with a lovely vino verde (recommended by our server). Don’t miss trying the beans, they were unbelievably good!
Jodi C — Google review
Octopus salad was nice; for every wine they brought out two options for me to try so could ensure you had something you liked. Had a nice white and nice light red.

Beautiful place for tapas and wine. The staff are so kind and professional. A huge selection of tapas to choose from. Everything we ordered was so tasty and full of flavour. A massive wine list and for port too. Really loved the tasting room.

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Praia da Rainha, also known as Queens Beach, is a charming and intimate cove located in Cascais. Despite being one of the smallest beaches in the area, it boasts stunning golden sands surrounded by striking rock formations that overlook the Bay of Cascais. Its historical significance dates back to 1889 when it was a private retreat for Queen Amelia.
This beach was a very nice choice. Even if the beach is tiny and there were a lot of people, we still did some space for us. They have free bathrooms where you can also change to your swimming suit which is a big plus. It's a sandy beach so don't worry for rocks or anything else because you don't need beach shoes. The water was a little cold but little by little we managed in the end to get in and it was amazing. You will fond very nice tiny golfs where you can swim between the rocks. I strongly recommend this beach!
Denis I — Google review
The closest beach to the Cascais train station like 5 minutes on foot. It is quite crowded but i could always find a spot. I was hesitant to go far to the next beach but this is cleaner than the others so staying here was the great choice!
Ayoung J — Google review
This is a beautiful beach with a lot of character! We loved how it was nestled in a cove-like area, with the rock formations surrounding you, plus it is right beside all of the beautiful, old streets — you only need to walk down some steps and you’re on the beach. We’ll definitely come back here! WARNING: When swimming, be mindful of the rocks in the water! Double-check before diving in. Only con: The water didn’t seem the cleanest. There was heaps of random bits in it — I can’t fully describe what all the stuff was. We still had a great time swimming, but it did feel a tad gross with different things floating about. However, we’d happily visit again! ☺️ ALSO! We HIGHLY recommend buying a pina colada from this stall on the street, before you go down the steps to the beach. You’re served a whole pineapple with the tastiest pina colada freshly made in the pineapple. Once you have purchased a pineapple you can go back for refills for €5 per pineapple drink. It was soo nice having this on the beach 🤌🏼
Caleb N — Google review
This location was less crowded and much more peaceful than the other areas along the coast. I highly recommend. I didn't love the water but that's just me comparing it to other tropical beaches I've visited.
Janelle — Google review
It’s the best beach in Cascais in my opinion and it’s less than an hour away from Lisbon via train! It’s a relatively small beach flanked by rocks on either side, and it’s quite busy but not so busy that you can’t find any place to lay down. The water is the perfect temperature for a swim in hot weather and it’s relatively clean for the number of people. If you’re visiting a beach in Cascais, make sure that it’s this one.
Scott L — Google review
Really nice little beach, great when not too windy. Theres a great little inlet that’s fun for kids to hunt for crabs at low tide or for people to swim at high tide. Worth checking the tide times for Caiscais. Theres a tap and shower at the bar end and steps back up to the main streets above. It’s sheltered from the big waves so it’s good for kids and swimming generally.
Oliver C — Google review
Very pretty beach considering it's in the middle of cascais. A bit crowded during summer but has some very cool rocks to explore. Would definitely recommend this beach out of all the others in cascais.

LOCAL Cascais, situated in Mercado da Vila, is a haven for health-conscious foodies. The cafe's menu offers a customizable brunch experience with options like oatmeal, acai and granola bowls, bruschettas featuring avocado, salmon and hot eggs, and an array of pancake flavors. In addition to delectable sweets like banana bread and brownies, the cafe also serves smoothies, juices, kombuchas and organic coffee.
My mum and I shared the squash and burrata with hazelnuts and pesto starter, it was delicious. We also had the chickpea tagine and the lentils with roasted harissa vegetables served on hummus, it was exceptional. The service was excellent. We will certainly be back!

We ordered two desserts. One of them looked very small, so we decided to check its weight. The product description specified a portion size of 150g. However, it turned out to be only 80g. Such a difference is unacceptable. I would understand if there was a discrepancy of about 10g, but a difference of 150g versus 80g means we received almost half of the expected portion.
Slavik H — Google review
Fresh, incredibly delicious – the best poke bowl I’ve ever had! The tuna was tender and melt-in-your-mouth perfect. The mix of fresh veggies, quinoa, and flavorful sauces took it far above the average poke. No complaints – just excellent!
Marica P — Google review
Located within the market area of Cascais, the restaurant is on the upper floor, overlooking the market. It is a great location to watch the hustle and bustle below. The food was decent without being excellent. I had the scrambled eggs on sour dough and it was pretty basic. The service was friendly.
Gerry C — Google review
I order from here quite often, and every single time I’m amazed by how delicious and nourishing the food is — no matter what dish I choose! You can truly taste the love in every bite, and that’s what makes this place so special. There are very few restaurants that still cook with heart and soul as their main ingredients — and LOCAL is definitely one of them. :)
Egle T — Google review
This place has a decent menu for vegans and overall the food was good. Ordering is all through an online menu that you access by scanning a QR code. Descriptions could be better. For instance the mango sorbet was not clearly marked. I mistaking picked the wrong sorbet and asked nicely if I could return it for the Mango. They refused and said I would have to pay for both. I’m writing this review so you all know that the wholesale cost of a scoop of sorbet is more important to these owners than the satisfaction of their customers. The “outside” seating is not outside. It is connected with a bunch of restaurants under a permanent tent like structure. Air is stuffy. I’ve been vegan for the past 27 years and almost all vegan friendly restaurants have provided excellent service, knew their menus well and wanted to provide the best experience to their customers. Whenever management of a restaurant reveals that the satisfaction of their customers is not a priority, I find it important to report that to all that may visit. My family’s roots are in the restaurant business and my grandfather always emphasized the importance of customer satisfaction as that creates a return customer and return customers always refer others. Obviously I will not return and will not refer anyone to come here.

El Clandestino is a unique dining spot that fuses Peruvian and Asian flavors with local influences. The menu features traditional Peruvian dishes like ceviche and lombo, prepared by experienced chef Teofilo Quinones. Despite some initial concerns, the friendly staff and exceptional food quickly won over visitors. The restaurant's upbeat atmosphere and distinctive decor add to its charm.
I was a bit apprehensive after reading some of the reviews here, but the friendly greeting from the staff washes it away instantly and I had to give the food a try. It was really, really good. Exceptionally seasoned, good portions, unexpected flavors. We took the recommendations from the staff and we were not disappointed. The dessert was an extra special treat, both the lime pie and the milk caramel pie! Loved the upbeat atmosphere and unique decor. This place is a bit hidden away, but with the find! Salmon and ossobuco both wonderful. Mushroom risotto yummy.

I’ve been to this restaurant twice since they opened about a month ago and I can honestly say it’s one of the best restaurants in Cascais. Not only for the amazing food and delicious cocktails but the staff are super friendly and attentive. 10/10 would absolutely recommend 😍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It used to be a Mexican place, but now it's a Peruvian spot with tasty ceviche and great lime pie. They also have lots of tequila and margaritas to choose from.

There's too many good things to say about El Clandistino without you, the reader, thinking I might actually have a vested interest in the restaurant, so let me summarize. The food is delicious, the staff are wonderful, the drinks are expertly made and the price is right. If you're looking for a fun night in the barrio alto with great mexican food, this is where you should start.

This is a Peruvian/Asian restaurant just outside of the historic centre on a little, hidden square which you can enter from different ways. Parking area is closeby but you can also park at Cascais trainstation or the parking garage in the historic centre. When entering the restaurant, the first thing you see is the open kitchen, the friendly owners and a couple of big, calm, cute looking and well trained twin dogs. Which by the way, you do not smell at all in the restaurant. The owner told us they had only started one month ago! The cook is Asian who had a restaurant in Peru, hence the mix here. We started with the lovely and rich flavoured ham croquetes. 5 pcs. for 7 euros, handmade and delicious. And the fresh springrolls in rice paper, a cold starter with veggies, fruit and shrimps in them, very tasty, 5 pcs. for 9 euros. Very special! Then we had the tenderloin out of the wok with onions and tomatoes, rice and fries. I had the tenderloin with portsauce and asperagus, delicious! As there is no side dish with this meat included I ordered extra fries. For desert we had the fresh limepie. The english version of the menu is to be found on The Fork site and will be printed soon. The service is quick, friendly and good. There are 2 spaces to sit on each side of the kitchen. We ate for around 70 euros for the 2 of us, maybe a bit expensive but it is worth the flavours and experience!! Good luck to the owners with this new restaurant!

Palaphita Cascais is a hidden gem that brings a slice of the Amazon to Portugal, nestled within the lush surroundings of Casa da Guia. This eco-lounge embraces nature in its design and atmosphere, offering an inviting space for everyone—from couples to families. With ample outdoor seating and charming wooden platforms, it’s perfect for enjoying delicious Brazilian and South American cuisine amidst stunning water views. The menu features rustic dishes like salads, sandwiches, and fondues that reflect its vibrant roots.
Me and a friend stopped here for a coffee and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our day in Cascais. The coffee was delicious — rich, smooth and perfectly made — and paired beautifully with the laid-back setting. What really made it special were the incredible views; sitting here looking out over the sea while enjoying a drink felt like the perfect escape. The atmosphere is relaxed with a touch of charm, making it a great spot whether you’re just pausing for a quick coffee or spending a bit more time soaking in the surroundings. Friendly service and a really welcoming vibe rounded it all off. Definitely a place I’d recommend if you’re in Cascais and want to enjoy good coffee with unforgettable views.

Beautiful spot with great vibes, but mixed experience overall. This place is gorgeous—a truly gorgeous setting, especially for a laid-back brunch or afternoon drink. The food itself was okay, but I’d definitely come back for the atmosphere and drinks only.

Amazing spot in Cascais! The views are absolutely stunning and make the whole meal feel special. The food was delicious — full of flavor and beautifully done. Big shout-out to Marcos, our waiter, who gave great recommendations and made the night even better with his friendly service. Perfect place to relax, eat, and soak up the atmosphere.

This place is a real gem. Many tourists coming into Cascais may walk as far as Boca do Inferno, but take another pleasant stroll for 20 minutes and you will find this fun and quirky spot with a beautiful atmosphere and great vibe. I had a lovely time here with a coffee and their home-made lemonade, the cocktails would be great too I'm sure.

In the western extreme of the exclusive Restaurant area, Casa da Guia, this large Brazilian inspired event restaurant offers an alternative and magic-like outdoor seating area in a grove with sea views, a few indoor tables in “iglo-tents”, a stage with live events, a good snacks, drinks and food menu, with kind and efficient service, especially by the ever attentive Marcus. We were a couple for a fabulous art & music performance on a Wednesday night, who got a table with a view to the stage and shared the delicious TAPI tapioca as starter, a good pastrami sandwich, a buraco pork & ananas brioche, all with 4 glasses of house wine and waters for €50/pax.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Cascais, Blue Jeans Hamburgueria & Bar is a delightful spot that combines great food with an inviting atmosphere. This charming eatery is just a stone's throw from the waterfront, making it perfect for enjoying a meal while soaking up the coastal breeze. The friendly staff ensures a warm welcome as you dive into their mouthwatering burgers, including the impressive Big Blue Jeans XXL Monster burger—ideal for sharing among friends.
My second time here in two years (visiting from the US) I remember having a great burger here so I gave them another visit. So glad I did. The burgers here are great! High quality beef, fresh ingredients and good service. Only a block from the beach. Place has outdoor seating service and it’s quick. They also have a pretty nice lunch special. If you’re in the area do yourself a favor and check them out. You won’t regret it.

The vegetarian burger (I ordered with seitan) was tasteless and dry, it had no sauce. There was no love in this food. We make much tastier burgers at home...

The food is fantastic, I’ve been here so many times and it always tends to be excellent. By far my favourite burger in Lisbon. However, the service is borderline terrible. I’ve been sneakily charged for sauces I didn’t order, had to wait so long sometimes too. The last time I was here the place was empty, my order came wrong, went back, took 15 mins to come back and came back wrong again. I simply left. I hope they can improve this and sort it out because it’s appalling when their food is that good. Edit: I’m at the restaurant right now and just received the wrong burger again. It’s impressive at this point.

Amazing little hole in the wall, best potato chips I've ever had! No gluten free buns, but they are happy to simply serve without the bun. The draft house cola is also delicious!

Great burger place in Paço de Arcos, very close to the waterfront. Be prepared for some wind if you sit outside, especially in the evening. The staff is friendly and the food very tasty. They also have the locally produced Musa craft beer on tap which I definitely recommend, if you like IPAs. We had the Big Blue Jeans XXL Monster burger for 3, but unless you're extremely hungry, you should have at least 4 people to split it with.

Decent burgers and beer, but terrible service. Be prepared to wait for a long time, then have a tip added to the bill automatically which feels a bit scammy. They need to rethink their organization!

The Upper Deck - EVOLUTION Cascais-Estoril is a culinary gem that offers four unique dining experiences: The Kitchen, The Living Room, The Patio, and of course, The Upper Deck itself. This all-day dining venue serves everything from breakfast to dinner and snacks in between. Guests rave about the outstanding food quality and service, with highlights including fresh oysters, grilled sea bass, tuna tartare, and delightful cocktails.
Everything about my experience was fantastic (except the cost). From when I was first greeted until I left the staff were great. Everything my waiter recommended was amazing, not to mention the view! The food was amazing (smaller portions though), I was tempted to drop to a 4 star based on the cost but I guess it’s part of the quality and for the view. I will definitely go back but based on cost wouldn’t be a regular visit.

A stunning terrace with breathtaking sea views, perfect for enjoying cocktails and sundowners. While the ambiance is excellent, the food leaves room for improvement, especially considering the price versus quality. We shared three croquette platters as starters, which could have been served warmer, and two anrtichoke hummus amongst 8. The fried salmon and grouper (garoupa) were average, as were the accompanying sides. The "arroz do chefe" (rice with squid) was overly salty. However, the Korean BBQ stood out as a highlight. 3 of us had dessert - the pavlova and chocolate tart were decent. The service was good, with kind and accommodating waitstaff who enhanced the overall experience. 60 eur per head.

This is also the place to be for some of the best upcoming DJs in Lisbon, making it an ideal location for super cool parties. Amazing place! Very friendly owners, help you with anything. We had live music, nice fresh fish, some rosé wine. Prices are normal for the region, nothing crazy.

So, nice spot, right on the promenade and Is also good to sit up stairs, found the drinks quite expensive, ordered the fries as saw someone had some and they looked amazing. When My order came tried a couple and it was like they had been recooked from a previous order. It was like eating match sticks! So gave to a table of young guys rather than bin. But wow. Terrible. Go for location and ambience but do not recommend the fries at least.

Avoid their “Perfect Beach Day” at all costs, they will tell you they are out of everything that is included. The lady working the register was very nice and understanding however the manager was rude and very demeaning. The place looks nothing like the pictures posted on the website. Taberna Clandestina Cascais is a vibrant tavern with a noticeable terrace and a window facing Rua Amarela, offering meat boards, focaccia-bread sandwiches, pastas, and cocktails. During the day, it serves petiscos like cheese and charcuterie boards before transforming into a bar at night. Situated on the lively Yellow Street in Cascais, this spot offers a relaxed atmosphere for enjoying Portuguese wines and Italian ingredients.
Fantastic. Service is a little slow when it’s busy, and the kids option is pasta only. But these are two, minor notes. The food is fantastic- varied, fairly priced, well portioned and full of flavour. The octopus was absolutely stellar, as was the tortellini ragu and the braised beef cheeks. Drinks were similarly quality. The staff spoke excellent English. A really easy, wonderful slow lunch.

Great place, found it thanks to the great reviews. Decided to walk here instead of eating on the long stretch of touristy restaurants. Totally worth the hype. The food was amazing, everything was fresh and I could tell they were made with love. Very nice staff, when the lemonade was too sour the bartender fixed it and filled it to the top. He was understanding and although busy, took the time to help us. The burrata was very tasty, as well as the carbonara. The food was awesome! I’d definitely come back!

4,7/5 At first, Taberna can feel crowded and noisy, less because of its popularity than the compact size of the room. But soon enough, that energy settles into something warmer: the hum of a place that feels both familial and lived-in. Service is attentive and efficient, marked by a genuine friendliness that sets the tone for the meal. Plates are modest in size but substantial, each one carefully seasoned, cooked with precision, and balanced in flavor. They satisfy without excess, leaving the palate content. Taken together, the experience feels cohesive, as if everything has been tuned to the same rhythm. A place worth entering, worth tasting, and, above all, worth returning to.

I came as a party of one (solo) and was treated so kindly, seated immediately, not rushed. The waiters are so charming and make you feel welcomed. I had a salad from their specials menu and their mix fried seafood. I also ordered a mocktail (delicious and a good variety of them!) and had a blast. The space is a bit tight but that’s part of the charm in my opinion.

A fantastic tapas bar in Portugal! It’s always very busy, but absolutely worth it. The octopus and fried seafood are unbelievably good — some of the best I’ve ever had. We arrived at around 15:50 when kitchen was about to close and all tables were taken and they looked quite busy. The waitress Dani found us a table and put the order in for the food just in time and was extremely nice to us, spoke perfect english and always had a smile on her face. Food came and it was amazing. We had negronis and even those were really well balanced. The staff really turned the situation around since we really were not convinced whether we should wait for a table or find somewhere else but Dani really worked well to accommodate us the best way she could. Overall a very good experience, highly recommended if you want quick and pleasant service, nice food and drinks.

Fortaleza do Guincho is an elegant cliff-top hotel with a chic restaurant and ocean views. The hotel, originally a 17th-century fortress, has been transformed into a luxurious accommodation. It offers sea view rooms with balconies and Hermes toiletries. The Michelin Starred restaurant serves Portuguese cuisine alongside the stunning Atlantic Ocean backdrop. Guests can enjoy quality breakfast while admiring the impressive sea views.
We absolutely loved our stay at Fortaleza do Guincho: it felt like stepping into a movie. The hotel’s unique setting, perched above the ocean, offers breathtaking views and a sense of calm that’s hard to find. While it’s a bit removed from larger cities like Cascais, that seclusion was exactly what we were looking for. The staff were incredibly friendly and offered great local recommendations throughout our stay. Breakfast was a true highlight. Everything was homemade, fresh, and beautifully presented. The Michelin-starred restaurant on-site is a culinary experience in itself, not to be missed. Our room was clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated, perfectly in line with the hotel’s charming and historic atmosphere. The nearby beaches are easily accessible, and for a bit more adventure, bikes are available for rent, it takes about 30 minutes to cycle to Cascais along a scenic route. We will come back!

Great hotel with lovely building itself, amazing view of the Atlantic, also walking distance to the beach as well as the natural trails. Services are excellent, wonderful breakfast and an outstanding restaurant. We had their tasting menu on the first night and it was sensational. Beautiful ten plates of food with fresh ingredients, full passion and a story about this land and the Atlantic.

We picked Fortaleza do Guincho in Cascais to end our Honeymoon in Portugal early September. After all the walking and sight seeing in bustling Lisbon and Porto, spending last part of our honeymoon by the ocean was the best way to unwind and recharged. This chateau is located right at the end of the cliff and it has the most breathtaking sunsets and scenery. There is few restaurants within walking distance and is remotely away from everything on purpose. It is a popular spot for surfers at Guincho beach. Cascais downtown is only within 15mins drive away. The chateau gives a beautiful charm of history and it only has 27 rooms, giving you the exclusiveness and attention you deserves. Upon our arrival, we were greeted before entering and to our wonderful surprised we were upgraded to an ocean view room with balcony (what a nice surprised since I did not indicate it was our honeymoon when booking). All staffs are friendly, and we enjoy our many chats with the staffs at the bar during cocktail hour on our 4 nights stay there. We had our dinner on our last night stay at their Michelin Gastronomy Restaurant. A meal of art, flavors on your palette pair with wine, give you a lasting impression you won't forget! Thumbs Up 👍 Thank you for an unforgettable experience.

Hotel Fortaleza do Guincho is truly a magical place—an ideal spot to come/go from for a Lisbon vacation. The coastal views are absolutely breathtaking and bring a sense of peace that’s hard to describe. The hotel itself, housed in a beautifully preserved 1700s fortress, feels like something out of a fairy tale. The property is both historic and charming, with a unique character that makes your stay unforgettable. The staff went above and beyond, with Victor & Alexander standing out for their warmth and attentiveness—always ready to help with any request and doing so with genuine care. Francisco did a great job in the casual dining room from food, wine selections to good conversations while making delicious after dinner cocktails. I highly recommend this incredible hotel for anyone looking to blend history, charm, and exceptional service in a stunning seaside setting. My wife was in Portugal/Spain for 3 weeks and she said our 10 day stay at Fortaleza do Guincho was her favorite experience.

Had an amazing lunch here, had the octopus dish, my partner had the sandwich. The octopus was the star of the show, with two different sauces poured on the sides and crunchy sweet potato crisps on top. Lovely setting with a view of the beach. Stayed at the hotel a few days later, lovely hotel, the architecture is unique, the staff, the views, the breakfast, the views are all top of the line compared to any other accommodation in the area (also stayed in Cascais center and next door at Muchaxo). This is a review of their casual restaurant, not the dinner restaurant across the hallway.

We came with friends to watch the sunset and drink cocktails, but they couldn't seat us for a long time, even though the place was empty. After we were seated, the waiter completely lost interest in us and didn't come over once. It's a good thing the sunset happened!

Stayed here for a couple of nights in the ocean facing room. Pros: - being by the beach - quiet - excellent customer service - good breakfast options - large room - comes with a number of complimentary drinks (Cola, water, beer) - not too far from Sintra (took a 14 Euro Bolt one way and less than half an hour to get to Sintra) - lots of parking if driving to this hotel Cons: - being that it is a quiet area, walking some distance to Cascais, cycling or ride share is needed to get to the main part of Cascais - plug options not always the most convenient but understandable given that this building has been around for awhile and required retrofitting. There was plug options and USB available. Highly recommend this hotel.

Last week, my partner and I had the privilege of dining at the Fortaleza do Guincho restaurant, a truly special experience. The restaurant is just a short drive from Cascais, between the beaches of Crismina and Guincho. We arrived just as the sun began to set, and the staff greeted us warmly, making us feel valued from the moment we stepped in. We were seated by a window overlooking the sea. We went with one of their tasting menus, which they kindly adjusted to accommodate my dietary restrictions, and each course was more surprising and thought provoking than the last. We learned about the Chef’s upbringing, and some more unusual ingredients that he uses. The sommelier’s excellent wine suggestions were a perfect complement. We left grateful for being able to experience it, and hoping to come back soon.

The Palmtree International Pub & Restaurant is a great place to eat if you're looking for excellent food, drinks and an overall convivial atmosphere. The variety of dishes on the menu is terrific, and the steak hot stone is especially delicious. If you're looking for amazing paella, however, be prepared to fork out a bit more money - it's not quite up to par with some of the other dishes on offer.

Went for a late night pizza after staying in for the day, not feeling well. Although, so kind, and decent price ($15 for an 8”) cheese pizza, it was very average. They called it a margarita. The crust was good, but the sauce and cheese were eh. It did have half a cherry tomato on each slice, but they didn’t really add much to the flavor.

Stopped for simple lunch, but ample choice, nice service, friendly but efficient. They are trying hard to sell their Cheese Wheel pasta, but no takers today. We had piri piri chicken and a Portuguese cod/shredded potato dish, both good. A really relaxing lunch, thoroughly enjoyed.

The food was good. We were 6 and tried 7 of the foods on the menu. Except for the the sea bass which was salty and Portugues steak which came out cold and very hard the rest of us were over all happy with our meals. The main problem was the service. The food came out late and they refused to change the channel for us to watch the game we were half way through watching. We complained a few times but other than sorry we got nothing…
Negin K — Google review
Good great but for the fact they forgot my side order of fries. They then delivered it to the wrong table. When I asked again, I saw the waiter eventually go to the other table, pick it up, go inside and promptly brought it to me. Needless to say they were lukewarm. When we asked for the bill we got the bill for the table next to us who had not even finished. We pointed this out and were brought another bill with deserts from the other table beside us. It was a farce. Service seemed frantic leading to these mistakes. Slow down and create a better atmosphere!

The service was great. Everything was very punctual. The food was awesome too. I recommend to try the non-alcoholic cocktail San Francisco. It is a mix of different juices. For those who love juice, it is good. The restaurant is spacious. There is space upstairs and outside. Even though there are a lot of restaurants around I don't regret the choice I made.

Carcavelos beach is a bustling and popular destination known for its vast expanse of golden sands, clean sea waters, and excellent tourist facilities. Located just a short train ride from central Lisbon, it offers a vibrant atmosphere with nearby shops, restaurants, bars, and stores selling surfing gear. This beach is particularly favored by surfers, windsurfers, and bodyboarders due to its ideal conditions.
Very easy to access from Lisboa by the train; also very affordable to go. The beach goes all the way, so you can manage to find a spot for yourself even though it is crowded. The beach has light colored sand. You can enjoy the sun on the beach, swim, or even try surfing. There are several surf schools here or places that you can just rent a surfboard. There are also some private beaches there, they seem to be mostly empty.
Ekin — Google review
Best to get there by car. The beach is too narrow. The water gets too deep too soon for small kids to play inside . Also the water was abit too cold for summer time. Otherwise it was clean, clean bathrooms available nearby and also not so crowded.

The beach is stunning, with clean sands stretching for miles and crystal-clear waters shimmer in the sunlight. It's an impeccably clean destination, perfect for soaking up the sun while lounging on the warm sand. Very nice!! A bit of a far walk from the train station (around 16 minutes and then another 15 to enter the beach). The water was super cold but it was still fun. The beach was super windy so I kept getting whipped with sand, I’m not sure if that’s normal or not.

Amazing sandy beach with lots of space. Bars and restaurants on the edge and plenty of surf schools and shops. Many beach valley courts. Downside is that there is no shade, and annoying towel sellers.
Vid V — Google review
It’s a really beautiful beach. It’s super wide and fairly long so even though it’s crowded you can find space easily. The sand is fine and it’s very flat so comfortable to lay on. The ocean is very calm and in early August it was just the right temperature - freezing when you hop in but you adjust over time. Perfect for a 96 degree day! There’s also volleyball on the beach, surf places, and restaurants. They need more stores - there were only 2 small places on the very east side selling sunscreen. And would have been great to have a convenience store that sells snacks.

A very large beach. Probably the largest in lisbon area. The beaches here are big . The coastline is broad unlike Lagos where the terrain is very different.

Bar do Guincho is a casual and airy space with a full bar and beachfront deck, offering burgers, sandwiches, and salads. Located in Cascais, it's known for its proximity to the sea and time-honored fishing tradition. The restaurant offers a stunning ocean view and is popular for its lobster crepes. It's tucked behind a craggy ridge on the northern end of Guincho, making it an ideal spot for beach-friendly dining while enjoying cold beer.
This beach bar was a good choice to eat and drink a d visiting the surroundings. The terrace has an amazing view to the beach and it also looks very nice having many tables with different preferences. The drinks were very good, food was not great not terrible. What we liked the most was the ordering procedure, scanning the QR and taking the order from your phone. Afterwards the staff comes and brings your food and you pay it right away. This way you will never have to wait for the bill and etc. I recommend this place!

A hidden gem that comes with an excellent sunset view. The ambience is top notch and the service is also just as good. The food is executed well but the menu has nothing out of the ordinary. You really come here for the ambience and it's easy access to Guincho beach. Be sure to take an after meal walk by the cliffs nearby for some awesome views! Great seafood options!

Free Wi-Fi QR code on the table to read the menu and order. Food allergy accommodations, then The staff came to check our order. A small child at the table next to us made a mess all over the floor and his parents left without doing anything. It took two waiters to clean it up . They wiped it up with a mop.

This place gets 3 stars because: I called twice to book a table — no answer. Luckily, there were still spots available at 4:00 PM. The entrance from the beach is only obvious if you speak Portuguese — there’s a sign I didn’t understand. Oysters and the kids’ burger were the best things we had. The sea bass was well prepared, which was nice — but the vegetables looked awful, totally oversteamed. The onion wasn’t cleaned properly and was impossible to eat. Tabasco seemed watered down. No pepper on the table. I don’t agree with some reviews about the service — the waiters were doing their job just fine. But if you came to Portugal for a tasty food experience, this place isn’t it. It might save you from starving, but it’s overpriced (in my opinion) for very average quality — with amazing views of the ocean.

Great food, friendly staff, and amazing views of the ocean. If you’re there at the right time of year, you can see the sunset. Otherwise, you can just head to their bar around the corner to view it.

We’ve been here many times and the food is always good and the vibe is amazing. They might have changed owners, the service isn’t the same as it has been the last 3-4 years. It has always been the same happy helpful och alert guys throughout the years, that sees everything and are quick to give you service. This time it was something else. Not as responsive and didn’t take away the dishes when you’re done after you’ve been sitting with empty plates for more than 10-15 minutes. When you raise your hand, they stop, they just look at you. Not saying anything nor approaching you. Just standing there looking at you and don’t say a word. This time, the place was about half full and they hade 4 servers working plus all the staff in the kitchen and behind the bar. Service is everything!! I’m still going back, because the vibe is great and the food is good.

Located in a fantastic spot in Cascais, Escotilha Beach Bar & Restaurant offers a great beachside dining experience. With stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, it's the perfect place to enjoy fresh fish and refreshing drinks. The restaurant is tucked away near the water sports center and is praised for its delicious food, friendly staff, and efficient service.
Lunch by the beach. A perfectly grilled sea bream and a cold beer. Perfect

Great location and fairly good food. We got many things. The toasts was good as well as the soup and burger. The calamari was not what I’m used to, a bit more breading than I would except.

Great service, good food. Desserts were especially good. Lovely location with sea views.
Regina B — Google review
We were very happy with both the food and service provided but have been left very disappointed in the recommendation by our server to pay our bill in our own currency as opposed to our normal choice to pay in local currency. He convinced us that as result of recent changes to the rules we would be better off accepting a currency conversion to Pounds Sterling which we have subsequently checked and found that this is not the case. We were left paying a 6% mark up and would recommend anybody using this place does not accept this advice as it is incorrect and it is still always the better option to pay in the local currency when using a credit card. We will not be returning as we believe that we were deliberately misled and had even added a generous tip as we believed our server was being helpful.

Update June 14, 2024 I’m back again! Just got off my flight from Madeira, checked in my hotel Cascais Miragem as usual, first thing was to head down to the beach promenade before the restaurant closes at 7p.m. Angela, André, Ester and the boss’s son James all remembered me. I had a very tasty sea beam dinner as usual. Reviewed June 7, 2023 via Mobil Yum! Fish is my favorite, I have fish almost every day at home in Canada. It’s easy for me to tell if a fish is fresh or not. Fresh fish needs a good chef to bring out its flavor, like developing a talent. The chef didn’t just grilled the sea beam to perfection l, the veggies and rice too. Everything was piping hot. I highly recommend it. I had several meals there during my two weeks stay in June this year. I will be back next June! Can't wait to see those cheerful friendly faces and eat their tasty seafood again!

This is a very good spot for beach lunch. Fast service. Great views. The octopus salad was very good, se also like the cheese toast with tomato. Would really recommend the sangria, it was full of fruit and not too sweet. You can pay with card and they have decent restrooms.

This place was a real find. Not obviously located, it's not right by the beaches in Cascais but it is on the seafront / boardwalk adjacent to a water sports centre and very close to our hotel (Miragem), but tucked away through an underpass that traverses the main road and rail line into town. The menu is not extensive but the food and drinks we have had have all been thoroughly delicious, the staff really helpful and friendly and speak excellent English (handy, as my Portuguese is limited!). Plus, in contrast to several other establishments closer to the beaches, they've been very accomodating. For example, as we walked into town on our first evening, despite the fact they were closing, they were happy to serve us a "Port Tonic" and sit and take in the view of Cascais harbour/town as the sun went down. Several of the bars closer to the town/beach just exuded a attitude of not being bothered if we took our custom there or not. This place couldn't have been friendlier, even when the weather took a turn for the worst! Friendly, great food/drink, clean and good value. Big 👍👌 from me.
Adrian Q — Google review
We were very disappointed when we ordered 3 appetizers to start and then one entree to share, but were brought 2 of the same entree once it was ready. We had never ordered 2 of this entree but they wouldn’t take back the additional order we’d never asked for. The server profusely apologized but wouldn’t take the second entree off our bill. We were put in a position where we had to argue with the server or just eat it. I had one bite of the second meal and physically couldn’t eat it (hence why we ordered just the one) and when he brought the bill decided to make the joke that he’d take care of it if his boss wasn’t here. It was a thoroughly frustrating and very negative experience, and we felt taken advantage of for being friendly people who didn’t want to continue arguing. $17 EU forced on us for an entree that was never ordered.

Praia Nossa Senhora da Conceicao, located in Cascais, is a popular and centrally located beach known for its bustling atmosphere. It is ideal for sunbathing, paddleboarding in calm waters, and enjoying drinks at seaside bars. The beach offers various amenities such as lifeguards, bathrooms, showers, rentals, and a bar/restaurant. Its tranquil waters make it suitable for swimming and it is well-equipped to cater to families with children.
A nice beach to sit and relax. It is only a few minutes walk from the train station. When I was there in June, the water was freezing, so I did not get to go in, but the water looked gorgeous and must be really nice in the late summer months. There's plenty of nearby shop and restaurants accessible nearby.

Experience delectable Mexican cuisine at this intimate establishment. Renowned for their skillful use of spices, they craft flavorful and satisfying tacos. Indulge in their mouthwatering churros that are simply outstanding. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the wait time for service is minimal. Open during weekends between lunch and dinner, it's an ideal spot for a late lunch or early dinner accompanied by refreshing margaritas. The tacos are generously portioned, served in pairs to ensure satiety.
We walked an hour for this place! It exceeded our expectations and we loved all the food. The drinks were unique and they tasted so good. We got birria tacos, pork and sea bass and for starters we got the nachos. The waitresses were so lovely and kind and we didn’t have to wait a long time to be served. Also complimentary chips and sauces when you arrive. Would really recommend this place it’s our new favourite!!

I’m from Denver, Colorado in the US and we have very good Mexican food there. Been looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant in the Lisbon/Cascais area and haven’t had a luck. Paco Bigotes is the first place that meets the authentic Mexican food standards. It’s actually one of the best tacos I’ve ever had traveling the world. The service is super friendly and fast. Very cute and small restaurant with some eating inside and outside. I can see it would be hard to get a seat when it’s busy hours. The shrimp taco and pulled beef taco were incredibly delicious. They were made with fresh ingredients and pact with flavor. The ceviche was good as well. I will definitely be coming back.

Located on the beach in Cascais, Duche Bar is a great spot to have some delicious food while watching the waves crash on the shore. The atmosphere is perfect and the service is attentive and friendly. The kebabs are especially good, but be sure to also try their other dishes.
We had a nice time at the sunbeds with some drinks and simple food - toast and sweet potato chips. Not overpriced (I mean, you’re in Cascais at the beach!) and the staff are lovely - friendly and helpful. We’ll be back!)

Incredible bad service - waited to be seated & no staff took notice, seated ourselves & told we could only order drinks, ordered food at the bar & was given a buzzer to collect ourselves even though it’s table service then received our $40 seafood paella in a take away container with wooden cutlery. Paella only had one prawn, 2 calamari & the rest was a below average rice. Only positive was the view of the beach but not with the seriously disappointing food & service.

Very good place if you’re looking to spend some good time at the beach! Good food (very tasty and full of flavours) but I think the best part is the fact that you can enjoy the food at the beach with a magnificent view! It’s a bit more expensive than other places around but the atmosphere is well worth it! Definitely a place to come back! Also, good service from the guys!

Had the grilled octopus, which is always delicious. Been coming to this place almost everytime I come to Cascais to the beach and it never disappoints, the food is always fresh and delicious no matter what I try, bitoque, shrimps, octopus. It’s my favorite in the beach area.

Ate white fish steak in this restaurant. It was falling apart, completely not nice texture and taste. And then i saw smth that looked like worms to me. Almost vomited. They said its a skin of the fish, not worms. But obviously i couldn’t continue eating it. They didnt come up with any suggestions, didnt offer to change this meal. And it was included in the bill after. Maybe these things were not the worms but this restaurant stayed totally ignorant to their client. Not recommended. Ps. Showed this video n pix to my Portuguese friend who has fish restaurant, he said these were worms, fish parasites for sure 🤮

EDIT: This is definitely the correct place. You can match the table cloth from the picture and my credit card bill. Also, we had rented the sunbeds from next door I wrongly assumed they did so as well. Corrected the review as they don’t operate sun beds. Definitely not the best food. We ordered fries, fried squid and the snails. Both fried food was not crunchy nor tasty. Service is fast and attentive. Don’t expect anything more. I would go just to try the snails but find another place for lunch. There are multiple good options from what it seemed we just didn’t want to do the research. There is paid parking next to the train station. You don’t need a reservation for here or the beaches.

Cooleys Irish Pub Bar, located in the heart of Cascais, is a beloved spot for those seeking an authentic Irish pub experience. The bar offers a convivial atmosphere and serves up refreshing pints of Guinness. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the multiple screens showing live games, while music lovers can enjoy live performances on Tuesday nights. The venue is known for its great classic rock music and lively sing-alongs earlier in the evening.
Such a fun pub! As a solo traveler I felt safe and the vibe was on point. Great music, great patrons, great drinks, and amazing service and staff. Special shout out to David who ran that bar like a well-oiled machine and ensured no one’s glass was empty.

We ordered Irish coffee. Barely u could taste the alcohol. I asked the bartender to add more and she did. Dart was quite interesting. But it was really hard to speak and hear your company’s voice because of the live music. Not so pleasant. And it was really hot to sit inside.

Very cool and fun Irish bar where you can play pool and darts. You can watch football games. And there is an open mic, which can make it a super fun place to drink a beer.

Not Worth Your Time, Go Somewhere Genuine. The way the staff at Cooleys treat people is shocking, rude, unprofessional, and lacking any basic respect. It felt like they were doing us a favor just by acknowledging we were there. If you want to run a hospitality business, at the very least, learn how to treat people properly. There’s nothing Irish about the atmosphere or attitude here. Don’t waste your time. Support a real Irish pub that understands the meaning of respect and hospitality.
Jackie S — Google review
A place that's obviously only for Brits, which is an incredible shame. More than 6 TV screens and all showing the same EPL match. Not even 1 screen could show the Portuguese games that were on. Will never come back because it's clear they don't want any Portuguese here. Better to go to the Underground, that's just steps away and shows a range of sports.

I had heard rumours about the owner.. Well, yesterday i had the pleasure of meeting him and together with the bouncer they were violent towards my lovely dog and by me saying im just gonna go somewhere else, turned them agressive towards me and it nearly ended up in violence. A fabulous place! After reading the negative reviews we were a bit wary but tried Cooley’s anyway and were so glad we did! Staff are super friendly, atmosphere was great and had all the football matches you could want on different screens. Service was quick on drinks despite being busy - didn’t get food so can’t comment but looked/smelt amazing. Drinks very reasonably priced and was the cheapest vodka and coke in the area we had found. Manager isn’t rude at all - just good old Irish humour! Nice to see an Irish pub actually run but an Irish person. Location is nice and lively and the food is served in good portions. My only issue is that I asked for a poke with no rice but salad underneath and got charged full price + 3 euros for 2 bits of raw carrots 🥲
TheFitnessTheory — Google review
We had high hopes for our visit to Kafeine, drawn in by its beautiful location right in the harbor of Cascais. While the setting is lovely, we unfortunately left feeling quite disappointed with our overall experience. The main issue was the service. We tried to be patient, but it was a struggle to get our orders fulfilled. We asked for water twice, but it never arrived at our table. Similarly, a glass of wine we ordered was forgotten. It felt like the staff was perhaps overwhelmed, and we were simply overlooked during a busy period. This continued when it was time to leave, as getting the bill also took a rather long time. By the end of our meal, the initial excitement we had for our visit had faded. After we left, I looked up some reviews and noticed something that added to our disappointment. It seems the management often uses a very similar, standardized response to negative feedback. It just made our experience feel less like a one-off bad day and more like a recurring problem. Kafeine has so much potential because of its wonderful location. We truly hope the service can one day match the setting, because an experience that should have been a highlight just left us feeling let down.

Fauna & Flora is a unique restaurant located in the Parede area, offering a diverse menu with fantastic vegan options. The focus on health and nutrition is evident in the deliciously flavored and beautifully presented dishes. The atmosphere is vibrant, especially on Sundays, with families and events creating a buzzing ambiance. The decor features rustic elements and abundant greenery, complementing the name perfectly. Situated near the beachfront, it provides cozy indoor and outdoor seating.
This is easily one of my favorite brunch spots in Cascais—if not my absolute favorite! The place is stunning, with a beautiful location right in front of the beach. The food and drinks are fantastic. However, if you’re looking for a place to grab a coffee and get some work done, this might not be the best choice, as they have a no-computer/work policy. But for a laid-back brunch with an amazing view, it’s absolutely worth it!

Pretty nice spot with great ambience and a bit of a view to the sea. Food choices are great and ideal for a sweet brunch with a small group of friends. Recommended.

We go there all the time when we go to the beach and love it. The food is always super good. We particularly love the halloumi bagel and the guilty pancakes (with peanut butter and banana). The prices are also relatively low for the quality of the food. Couldn’t be better!

What a cute restaurant! 💚🍀 I love how it’s decorated with a green garden and vintage furniture 🪑 from an old school. The food was as expected too. I had raw fish 🥴.

A Leitaria is a beloved snack bar and hangout spot known for its affordable cold beers and salty snacks. Situated in a small square near the church, it enjoys ample sunshine from midday to early evening during the summer. This family-run establishment is popular among locals, with many dog owners bringing their pets after work. While some visitors prefer sitting outside to enjoy the atmosphere, others opt to stay indoors due to smoking and nearby construction noise.
Such a cute cafe tucked away from the bustling downtown area a true hidden gem!

Took 50 minutes to get the food. The drink was warm when we got the food. No bread to the tasteless burger, and on of the plates sobbing in grease. No salt, pepper or ketchup to the food.

Sweet stop on a tiny back street largo Is mis-located on google maps. The sushi place Confaria is on the other side of the largo (google may have fixed this based on my edit about the true location). Is a local hangout. Lots of dog owners bring their pets out afterwork. Family run. Not sure if you CAN eat inside. I’ve always just stopped at an outside table to rest after hiking up from the center of Cascais. Ordered a glass or two of wine and people watched. Struck up conversations with ex-pats a couple times. If you want to slow down and enjoy relaxing with a beverage and a bite to eat, i think you should try this place.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of the Old Town, O'Neill's Irish Pub is a lively gathering spot that attracts a diverse crowd of locals, expats, and tourists. Open daily from midday until 2 am, this pub offers an authentic Irish experience with an impressive selection of beers, including the beloved Guinness. The atmosphere comes alive with live Irish music from Wednesday to Saturday at 11 pm, ensuring that even those who are hesitant can't resist tapping their feet to the infectious rhythms.
Really nice place. Great drinks and atmosphere. Wonderful and friendly host (Claudia). Good prices and a nice place to watch the world go by with a nice drink. Sangria was excellent and the Magners was ice cold!
Dave W — Google review
Staff very friendly! Nearest thing to British fish & chips but not quite. Fish was a bit dry and not that crispy and in a few pieces, maybe I whole piece would have differed. Tartar sauce was very nice and so were the chips, however not traditionally British cut. Good value for money for this area though.

Claudia and her team were fantastic! We visited the bar on numerous occasions during our stay in Cascais. The atmosphere was great, staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Claudia took the time to get to know us, she was super helpful and accommodating with our daughter’s “fussy” food needs. The food was excellent, far exceeding expectations. We will definitely return to O’Neills on our next holiday to Cascais, we highly recommend it as a place to enjoy time with friends and family.

One of the best experiences in Cascais, friendly staff and good drinks, they will go out of their way to make sure you have a good time. I continue to visit this place over and over again. They have live music every night and are located directly beside the beach. This place is a GEM surrounded by many tourist traps. Skip the fake places and go to a place that serves good drink, good food and the music rocks!

Lovely Irish pub. Good variety of beers, ciders and spirits. The food is quiet good, we had the classic hamburger with chips and the ham and cheese toasty. Staff is very friendly and the prices are absolutely fair.

Wow, what an atmosphere this place has! And if that wasn’t good enough pair that with some outstanding food!. We got there right as the kitchen was closing and had to order as much as we could. They have some pesto that is to die for. The service was outstanding, even in the tight narrow space that they had.

We went for lunch and it was a knock-out. The place was busy but the servers were still friendly. We got the peach burrata salad and this was a surprise hit for me. The burrata, and the tomato and the basil were so refreshing and the peaches reminded of summer. We also got the seafood plate, which had various kinds of seafood, like fish roe and octopus, grill octopus, and fried seafood. I personally liked fried anchovies because I’ve never had it before. I highly recommend you try this place if you’re ever in Cascais

lMy friend and i stumbled across this place for lunch, we waited 10 mins for a table and food arrived pretty quickly after ordering. Would 100% come back, staff were super friendly!!

Ciaran B — Google review
We tried to eat here after it was recommended by several people for being family friendly (we have 1 child) with great food but we were treated like such an inconvenience. The restaurant had about 50% of tables open and no reservation signs on them but they made a big deal out of finding us a table. They also made a big deal that the kitchen wouldn’t open for another 5 minutes - we said it was not a problem to wait but they sort of huffed and puffed about it. We ended up going somewhere else. I would have liked to try this restaurant. I am disappointed that it didn’t work out. Edit in response to the reply from the business: I am reassured by your finger pointing response that we made the right choice not to eat here. We arrived 5 minutes before 6, when the kitchen opens. We did not arrive at the end of a shift but at the beginning of one. If this is how the management does things, by trying to spin complaints into why the guest was actually in the wrong, then it’s clear why your staff acted the way they did. It seems like a problem in your business that has transferred from the management down to the staff.

We had a fantastic lunch at Cantina Clandestina in Cascais. The cocktails were absolutely incredible, the tapas were tasty and generously served, and the service was warm and attentive. We were in Lisboa and the surrounding beaches again in September, 2018. We rented 2 chairs and an umbrella (20 Euros total for the day) outside Bar Praia da Rainha and enjoyed beer and margaritas on the beach and in the shade on their patio two days. The staff were very friendly, and, like everywhere in the area, the view was beautiful.

Very racist staff. Truly the worst beach experience I’ve had to date that’s not even an exaggeration. The rudeness, lack of patience of certain bar staff is appalling. To think they employ people who speak like that to people in general.

Crow Bar is a surprising gem located in the affluent suburb of Cascais. Despite its location on a shopping street, it offers a lively and relaxed atmosphere with a rock theme, featuring heavy metal and rock music. The bar is known for its specialization in NFL games shown on a big TV, making it popular among sports enthusiasts. With reasonably priced drinks and pub fare on the menu, this spot also offers good service by friendly staff. It can get crowded during game days, so reservations are recommended.
Decent beer, great staff, good music..... didn't try the food. All the punters were friendly and a laugh ,but you generally find that with people that like rock, metal, and indie. Watched a few different sports on the TV, as customers requested.... lot's of nationalities friendly and fun. Maybe it needs a few extra beer choices to nudge it from 4- a 5. 3 lagers ,1 really sweet cider and a selection of bottles.... Still, All hail the Bock 🤘

Frank R — Google review
It’s very seldom I have such a bad experience that I feel I have to leave a 1 star review. It makes me sad to have to do so. Service “makes or breaks” a place. I was predisposed to like this place just due to fond memories of my visits to London. Anyway, I push for us to go here instead all the places we could get brunch. I regretted it from the moment we sat down. This is the 2nd place (in 30 years traveling, 5 continents, 25 countries) that I ever have gotten up and left. Abysmal service. Believe the recent reviews! Management.. “mark us.” There were several handwritten signs “tips or bad s 3 x for life” …. I am thinking you’d need to deserve those tips at the very least by providing the bare minimum— a basic, rudimentary, elementary level of politeness. If the folks providing this “bad” service are the judge of what’s “bad”, then I think we don’t need to worry about consequences for not leaving tips. Maybe it’s preferable 🙃 I hope the owners have a look at the recent reviews and provide some training for the client-facing staff. Customers don’t come here expecting “World Class Service “. It’s a casual pub, even if it’s in Estoril. ok 👍🏼 However, every other pub we’ve ever been to has provided a standard of service. They want to sell drinks so they always ask what you’re drinking. That’s just basic, but it didn’t happen here. I must point out that there were no other customers inside, and just 3 outside. So the 2 front of the house staff were literally at their leisure. They used this down time to look everywhere but at the happy, new customers that came in ready to try this place. Idle hands, so I can’t believe the owners know. I hope this was just an isolated incident, but after looking at recent reviews (should have done that before), it seems that lately it’s happened several times. I hope they can retrain and return to the era of 5* reviews.
Margarida V — Google review
Walked by it every single day we were in town and finally had to stop. From what I can tell don't stop here for a "real" meal; maybe a snack. Live entertainment was really good and found the spot relaxing. But drinks are the order of the day. Note to self. Never start a sentence with the word "but".
Scott H — Google review
Awful service. When we entered, it was almost like the workers behind the counter were customers waiting to be served. We tried to ask one of the servers a question about the menu and we were totally ignored. We just got up and left to eat across the street. They didn’t even notice we left. If you’re going to ask for tips, at least provide a service worthy of tips.

Cresmina Beach Bar is located in the natural park of Guincho, north of Cascais. The beach is less touristy and accessible, known for its vast sandy expanse and strong winds that create ideal conditions for surfing, kitesurfing, and windsurfing. Enclosed by rocky cliffs, it offers a spectacular view and can be reached from nearby Guincho Beach via a stairway and ramp.
Such an amazing place! You won't regret going here! It's easy to travel to Guincho beach from Cascais Terminal, with the bus no 415 or hop on hop off bus. The wind was quite strong, it's good the have a jacket or a hoodie when the sun is not shining. The water has freezing cold (on June 13th), and the waves quite violent, but the view is spectacular. You can go swim wherever, but here the view is the main purpose. I let some pictures as a proof. 😉

Cresmina beach in Guincho is excellent! If it's going to be hot in town get over here for cooler winds and a fully chilled vibe. It will be windy and the sea is rough so you'll need to come prepared. The bar offers great Tosta and hotdogs are popular, service is very relaxed so not a choice if you're in a rush, but come for the view, come for the vibe and stay until the sun sets over the ocean. Love it!

We did not eat, but fruit smoothies were fresh and yummy. It is a container type beach “club” with just a few tables to sit, but extremely clean and well maintained. The beach is the most incredible experience. Praia da Cresmina is a stunning, peaceful beach near Cascais with golden sand, dramatic rocks, and clear Atlantic waves. Perfect for a swim (with waves), walking or soaking in nature’s raw beauty. A hidden gem within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.

Food is way overpriced for the amounts. Had a tuna and tomato tosta that was almost all bread, little filing for 11 euros. I know beachside kiosks are expensive to operate bet don't cheap out on ingredients if you're going to charge tourist prices for Portuguese foods.

Our stay in Portugal has come to an end, and now that we can look back and compare our experiences, honestly, this one felt like the worst. For two glasses of wine and two small portions of food drenched in olive oil and without any bread, we paid 60 euros. I wouldn’t mind the price of the wine so much, but the cost of the food was really excessive. In the end, we felt a bit scammed, because in most places we had proper meals and drinks made from VERY expensive and high-quality ingredients (I’m talking about a main course + dessert + wine for two), yet the price was comparable to what we paid here (two glasses of wine and two mini portions of food). To not be entirely negative, the staff was very kind and communicative.

What a find! Good wine, warm and knowledgeable service. No idea what you want? Just ask and you'll be walked through some options and tasters. BTW the basque cheesecake definitely warrants it's fame.

Great atmosphere, pleasant and helpful staff, off the beaten tracks foods and last but not least - fantastic wines. Thanks to Ann, our experience in tasting natural wines was unforgettable. Took some wine back home. Certainly coming back again (friends don’t mind).

Wonderful selection of natural wines and delicious food ❤️🙏 ☺️

I discovered Holy Wine on day 1 of our time in Cascais. Very prompt and welcoming service, drinks order taken immediately and food to follow shortly after. I love the concept of natural wine. Can also confirm zero hangovers have happened post visit. They have new wines on offer every few weeks which keeps things interesting. The food is truly tasty (marinated zucchini is my fav!) We definitely find our new favourite wine bar in Cascais.

This place is an absolute gem. Great wines, friendly knowledgeable service, tasty food offerings. If you like natural wines this place is a must, but they are happy to serve you something reasonably straightforward. Also interesting alcohol free options. Prefer it to the sister wine bar in Lisbon. A little more space and just a lovely vibe.

Fantastic and beautiful place for the natural wine lovers. If you are not a lover of natural, it’s still place to be. I wasn’t a fan of natural wines, but here I felt in love. Personal will help you to choose the wine by your taste profile or by delicious food you choose. We took oysters which were super fresh and HOLY delicious with the wine paring. Special dish burrata 🤯 Cheesecake! As I know the owner make it by herself, so we took also to go, cuz it’s wasn’t enough for us. Definitely will be back! Highly recommended to everyone! Guys, thank you so much to make our evening better.

Wine bar
Castas da Vida - Wine Bar is a charming spot where you can explore the wide range of Portuguese wines. The bar takes pride in offering unique wines from small producers that are not commonly found in big stores. You can enjoy sampling these wines by the glass and pair them with a delightful cheese board from a nearby cheese shop. The friendly staff is eager to help you find new favorites and provide great recommendations for alternative options to try.
Excellent wines, advice and friendly. Simon knows his stuff! We enjoyed a glass of wine most days as we were staying very local to Merdaco da Vila Cascais. By far the best wines in the area. A MUST visit if you're in the area, or worth a visit if you are close by. Thank you 🙏

If you appreciate tasting portuguese wines, this is the very best place in Cascais to go. We had a fantastic time there tasting great wines under Simon's guidance. It's right on the Cascais Market, an iconic place to visit.
Jorge K — Google review
Didn't have anything to eat. But the friendliness and helpfulness complements the fine selection.
Don M — Google review
Perfect little wine bar to try the huge variety of Portuguese wines - they love nothing more than the challenge of "I'd like to try something different", since Portuguese wines is typically made by thousands of producers who only produce small batches, and these never make it to the big retailers. Perfect to pair with a cheese board from the nearby cheese shop.

Owner is ace, very knowledgeable and I haven't had a bad glass yet. The wee market place is lovely for a drink, always folk milling about and music at the weekends.

Great wine, reasonably priced. Knowledgeable and personable service. Great way to spend an afternoon.
