The 18 best coffee shops and best cafes in Helsingoer

It was my second time in this cafe, but this time the experience was questionable. Staff was quite unfriendly when asked if they sell espresso tonic or toxic by itself. It’s ok this is not in offer but the way the person spoke is just not how you expect to get the answer. Additionally they served a cake to my friend that that was completely destroyed with a dirty spoon. (Attached picture of how it was served) only after complaining about this they agreed to switch for a fresh piece and a clean spoon. The coffee served was nice though. We had a black coffee and an iced latte. Both nice. Perhaps we just got really unlucky that day with the service but it’s a shame because on a first visit we were positive about the place

Strandvejristeriet was recommended to me by a local as the best coffee shop in Helsingor. Although I have tried no others I can see that they may be correct. The cafe itself is well set out, staff are friendly, and there is a wide range of food & drink options plus other items for sale. The coffee was lovely and the setting in the shadow of Kronborg castle stunning.

3-9-2025 After visiting Kronborg slot we had something to drink at this café. We had a pour over kaffe (dark roasted) and cappuccino and both had a kardemomme boller. Coffee and cappuccino were good, the kardemomme boller were crisp and tasty. Service was good, friendly staff, nice table in the sun. All in all a reccomondation for a decent cup of Coffee and good service.

Overall a good experience, having to relax with a great view of the Kronborg Castle felt great. Tried their Romkugler, chai latte and cappuccino. They have a great selection of local pastries and the barista was great.

We had ice cream and coffee here. Also bought some their roasted coffee for home. Recommended place for nice espresso and friendly staff, it is great atmosphere here.

After two visits in a period of three weeks, I am certain Kagefryd is a great place to visit when in “need” of some really good high quality and homebaked cake/biscuits/ bread. During the not to busy weekends or summer high season, this is also a smooth place getting some administrative work done.

I wouldn't expect I could bump into this kind of cafe in Helsingor. Their cakes were exceptional, and their coffee was certainly good. It might be the place where you may take a break while travelling the attractions outside of Copenhagen.

Classic and traditional Danish open sandwiches on rye bread. It is kept very simple, wysiwyg, nothing fancy, but solid and very affordable and it is served with a smile. The restaurant has the vintage feeling, floors are curvy, poorly insulated, but then there is fire in the fireplace and you instantly feel welcome. Fyi. If you are looking for new nordic fusion style ‘smørrebrød’ - this is not the place.

It is the perfect cafe to have breakfast, meet with friends and have a drink. we were there for breakfast today. The service person was a wonderful young lady. He met all our requests quickly and with a smile. we had a great time. Happy New Year.

Two waitresses on duty. One of them more busy talking to a friend inside, while the other occasionally popped her head outside to check for incoming orders or requests. Very long waiting time even to put our orders in. Foul smell from a nearby drain consumed the outdoor sitting area completely. Constant hassle from birds trying to steal the food you were eating. But the food itself was well cooked.

Lovely steak burger (medium) with fries and amazing garlic sauce. Totally recommend. The food quality was really good and the staff were very friendly and nice but despite we decided to sit inside to be away from cigarettes smokes outside, we still could smell it inside! All in all the experience was good. Check your Visma Logbuy app if tou have for possible discounts.

Both food and coffee were very good. I am Italian and loved the cafe's take on the "Italian toast". Absolutely delicious. Their apple pie was also super nice. It's a great place to stop for refreshments and chill a bit before or after the Kronborg castle visit. Still, we visited on a Monday's afternoon, and could see the place was filled with locals rather than tourists: further proof of authenticity. Good prices too (considering local standards) and friendly staff. Definitely recommend if you are in Helsingor.

This place has the best sandwiches I’ve ever had! I love that they put tons of veggies and the sauce is excellent! It opens my eyes on what sandwiches could taste since I never really liked it in the US. I will probably start making my own sandwiches back home! The owner is also really friendly, plus the atmosphere is great too. Highly recommended this place!

It was 27-May (Monday), we just arrived at Helsingor from Helsingborg by ferry and I can remember that it was a rainy day. We waited at the station for about 15 mins, the rain stopped. Then I found this Cafe in Google Maps for us to have a cup of coffee and take a break. The overall atmosphere is staff, nicely staff with good service. We had a short good break at the Cafe.

I loved this spot!! I will dream about their blood orange drink. The meal (a salad) was flavorful and colorful! Both qualities that I always appreciate in food. The gals working, were working hard and were lovely! I enjoyed the location and orientation of tables outward towards the courtyard! This was a nice reprieve during an unusually hot afternoon!

As always I went for the vegan food. The bowl was great because it was fresh, included grilled bell peppers and tomatoes, and a great variant of hummus. Great dressing and bread. We also tried the vegan cookie. It didn’t come directly from the oven, but was altogether a nice experience. Sodas were old school, 1980ies, a nice surprise Fast service and prices were fair. 200kr pr person. Multiple vegan choices was a nice touch ;0) look for the green leaves on the menu.

A nice spot with history as a højskole now operating as a hotel. Excellent views, interesting architecture and a short walk to the beach.

The grounds here are spectacular, with a hotel so close to a bustling city and busy marina the ground span here is marvellous. The rooms are super moden and clean most of all the staff are very welcoming, warm and friendly. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

A very special place! The architecture was very unique for a Danish place and it was filled with beautiful and interesting Danish artists. And the decor was beautiful in the guest areas. I enjoyed it a lot. The food was good and the staff were very nice.

It's really nice place in lap of scenic beauty with green golf course on the top and sea at the bottom. The room were excellent, clean and cozy. Breakfast had good option from traditional danish food to western one. The architecture and painting we're just really great . Must visit if you plan something grand.

The Konventum hotel and conference center is beautifully situated surrounded by open fields and woods. There is a magnificent view of the ocean and boats going by. It is located in the outskirts of town so a car is needed. The rooms are good size, nicely furnished, and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet is very good but annoyingly ends at 9 am. The architecture of the buildings is pretty amazing and the place contains one of the largest private collection of art from the 1950s to today. There is easy access to the beach and to walk in the woods. The hotel has bicycles that you can borrow. This is really the best place to stay when visiting the town of Elsinore and the surrounding coastal towns. I have stayed there twice since my initial review. Both stays were during fall or winter which seems to be off season. One time there was no hot water at all for the shower. The other time I had to let the water run for 20 minutes before it got even Luke warm. Also, the breakfast during off season is not worth it. It was served as a single platter. The bread was stale and the serving contained a lot of processed meat. Though the place is beautiful I will not stay there in off season again

Great place to stay. Good accommodations. We spent some time in Helsingør and also took the train from Snekkersten station to Copenhagen. They serve a delicious breakfast buffet. They setting is gorgeous, exceptional art and fabulous natural surroundings. Stay here instead of in the city, you won't regret it

Rooms were very small and drab was extremely disappointed. Had stayed in a hotel in Copenhagen that was much better and cost a lot less. Overall was poor value. It is however, situated in a nice area for walks and the beach. Unfortunately would not stay there again due to poor quality of the rooms.

This quaint restaurant is in a nice location with friendly, English-Speaking staff. We were greeted and seated promptly. We were offered menus in English which was super helpful. We ordered the "Shooting Star" and the "Strip Steak". My wife enjoyed the shooting star. My steak was rather bland and somewhat overcooked. The atmosphere is casual and the prices are reasonable for Denmark.

Had Sunday brunch there. The spread was good and dishes were quickly topped up when they run low. Along with the usual carbs, there are cured meats (salmon and ham) and cheeses. There is a choice of cut fruits and drinks including smoothies and sparkling wine. Plates were cleared very quickly when we got up for more food. I am glad we went. Will return if possible.

Really nice scenario and the building is fantastic. Did not have the chance to buy anything as the cafe was closed at 17h30 (even though the door says 18h). Either the working hours difference is clarified in the signs or the museum and cafe should follow the same working hours. We saw a big sign saying "open" from the top of the stairs and we went down to the cafe and got refused service.
