Sushi restaurant
Makoto Sushi Bar, located in Liverpool St, Sydney CBD, offers a unique dining experience with its revolving sushi train and noodle dishes. The glass-walled restaurant features counter seats and tables, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Despite some online feedback about potential changes under new ownership, Makoto continues to attract diners with its lively vibe and jazz music. The Chatswood location has also garnered praise from locals for its authentic offerings.
An awesome experience. We attempted to dine at another Sushi restaurant but they were not very accommodating so we chose to look elsewhere and found this amazing restaurant. Fresh ingredients and so tasty. A really inviting space and very family friendly. Staff were so engaging and attentive. The serving sizes were also very generous. The Gunkan seared scallops were excellent and the cooked tuna was also amazing. Dine here for a great experience.
Mark C — Google review
It’s a sushi restaurant which has a belt serving. As a tourist, here bring us the memories in Japan. However, since it’s in Australia, you can’t have high expectations on its jap food. The sushi rice is warm and they do not serve free green tea. Still, if you wanna get back some jap food, here maybe an option.
Chan K — Google review
Second time came here and always looking for the plumpy scampi (my favorite). But this time I had a slight delay for 15-25 mins for a dish to come out. It was not a busy day or during lunch break, but might be some other problems I think. At first my orders were come in a timely manner but when I did my second / third order, the slight delay happened. Fortunately, I was in no rush. But always good to come back.
CELINE — Google review
Nice sushi bar with plenty of options and great service. Good for a quick bite. Love their paradise prawn, scallop uni don, paradise scallop, scampi handroll.
Chee W — Google review
Great tasting and very fresh. The sushi train experience is great with lots of options. Did realise that closing time was 9:30 on a Friday night we were seated at around 8ish the outside kitchen began cleaning up around 8:30, which meant the choices on the sushi train were no longer being replenished but you could still order from the kitchen inside. The only reason for the food getting 4 started rating was that I couldn't see any red meat options such as wages or beef.
John N — Google review
The OG of the sushi trains. Haven't been here in years. They still do the oyster omelette quite well.
Denise ( — Google review
Great sushi place, easy to get to by train. Only wished there were more variety, and the price can be pretty high. But then again sushis are so expensive in Australia. Nothing particularly bad about the atmosphere, just thought it could do with a little more comfort for the price.
Stan E — Google review
Really delicious and fresh. The Uni Chawanmushi was what made me pick this place and it was really good. Only downside was I didn't think the premium tuna was that premium, but maybe I shouldn't compare tuna in Sydney to that of Japan. Still better quality and value than anything I can get in NZ so I was happy 😊

Sushi restaurant
Sushirio is a Japanese sushi train restaurant located in the heart of Sydney. The casual, low-lit ambiance makes it a perfect spot for families. Once the lunch service starts at 12 pm, the conveyor belt keeps serving nigiri, hand rolls, chicken karaage, donburi and more until closing time. Prices start from $3.50 per plate with an assortment of options including nigiri, gunkan, rolls, hand rolls and donburi.
Great place to socialise and eat Japanese food. The plates are filling and you could eat 10 of those between two people. I took my kids there at the beginning of the year and decided to go back to it 8 months later. Coincidentally sat at the same place with wife. Best dish I found was prawn tempura. Highly recommend the place.
Bihter A — Google review
It used to be superb value but unfortunately covid took the better of them. At $3 a plate with awesome quality, this place can’t be faulted. Unfortunately now at $3.9 for a plate and the things are clearly less fresh it becomes a harder sell. (Just look at that tuna photo…) All in all however I’m still happy to come for my sushi fix. Just that there are now better options around.
Kelvin P — Google review
Nice sushi at great value for money. Agedashi tofu highly recommended. Really delicious. FYI I’ve never been to this restaurant when it hasn’t been busy so it can be quite a wait for a seat and it gets pretty cramped in there! Still, it is lovely sushi and one of only 2 restaurants I am aware of that offers all plates at $3.50. They also offer 5% discount if you pay cash!
Sharon T — Google review
The fried oysters and the soft shell crab taco are must-order. The ice green tea latte is amazing - they’ve included 1 scoop of green tea ice-cream in it! Most of the dishes are $3.50each and it is very popular. Love their hand rolls too.
G M — Google review
This is still one of my favourite sushi trains with a flat rate of $3.50 per plate with a 5% discount when you pay cash. What I like about this place is how they make things fresh when you place an order, as opposed to finding what you ordered from the train. There is a great variety of sushi here, including nigiri, gunkan and hand rolls, plus other freshly cooked hot dishes like chicken karaage, deep fried prawns/salmon skin and kimchi pork belly soup. The place is starting to look a bit run down but if you want a variety of fresh seafood, this is the place for you!! On my most recent visit, I noticed a general over-use of the dark sweet sauce that is upsetting the balance of flavour. On top of that, the sushi rice was not as good as it used to be and some items were served straight from the fridge, my preference would be near room temperature. TIP: Always order on the console to get freshly made dishes and ask the staff for fresh wasabi.
Brian L — Google review
This is a nice place to go to if you’re not that hungry. Prices have increased a lot though, it’s $4.4 a plate, so make sure you get the good stuff. I’ve noticed that serving sizes have decreased. My favourites are spicy grilled salmon and spicy tuna.
Samantha ( — Google review
Nice little sushi outlet. Food quality is fairly average but I do appreciate the lower price/smaller portion setup so you can try 11 dishes for under $40. Staff can speak Japanese, Mandarin and English.
Joseph Y — Google review
The food is delicious , absolutely love it . The vibe is vibrant and fun , great to sit down to relax and eat after a long day . We have tried a lot of dishes and they are all good . It would be lovely if they add Waguu to the menu .

Sushi Hotaru is a trendy sushi train restaurant located at The Galeries Victoria in Sydney. It offers a wide variety of freshly made sushi that can be selected from the conveyor belt or ordered through a tech-savvy touchscreen system. The stylish interiors exude a funky Tokyo vibe, adding to the dining experience. With affordable prices and high-quality dishes, Sushi Hotaru stands out for its exceptional value.
Cannot really fault it. Can order on tablet or off the train. Ordered the chicken karage for 17.00. Nice. Good serving. Other assorted sushi was very fresh. Salmon very nice and fresh. It's one of the better sushi trains in Sydney. Reasonably priced for Sydney too.
C.GOODY — Google review
I went here for the first time today after being introduced by a friend. The food was delicious and the staff were all friendly. Draft beer was $6.50 during happy hour. The prices were reasonable and the food was good. I will visit again. 😊
PMY — Google review
We chose this place because of its great Google rating and the fact it offers both sushi and Japanese BBQ — just what we were craving. The vibe inside was cozy, but the food didn’t really stand out — though looking at my pics, you can see why it’s so popular. Since it’s inside QVB and doesn’t have its own restroom, we had to head up to the third floor to find one. The staff were really friendly and patient, which made the whole experience nicer.
E — Google review
So yummy! The best revolving sushi in town! Fresh, affordable, and so fun to grab plates off the belt. Great for quick lunches. Always consistent! 🍣🚂
姜朦怡 — Google review
sometimes i stop by with my partner to eat here, and it's always been really nice! prices are reasonable and the wait (if there is one) is never particularly long. you can also order straight to your table or pick it up via the sushi conveyor belt, so it's up to your preference!
Lykkhora — Google review
Sushi Hotaru is one of my favourite spots for a quick and fresh lunch! The sashimi is always fresh, and the prices are very reasonable. Perfect place for a quick catch-up during lunch hour – the service is fast, and there’s a great variety to choose from. Love the ordering system too – so convenient and efficient. Highly recommend!
Katrina X — Google review
The sushi train here is very popular and is usually busy which is great because the plates get turned over quicker and you aren’t just eating something that’s been on the conveyor belt for hours on end. Ordering is easy you can pick off the train or you can order via a touch pad that is in front of you. Staff are attentive, and the dishes come out quick when you order. Each plate starts at about $5, they also have a range of ala carte items like udon and salads and sashimi which cost a bit more than $5.
Alfred T — Google review
I have visited at 1pm on Sunday. The food and the sushi chef were great, and the service for the dishes was quick. However, the manager who handled my payment was very unfriendly and had a gloomy attitude. I wasn’t even informed that I needed to ask for the bill, and instead of helping, he embarrassed me by asking where my bill was. Thanks to another staff member, I was finally able to pay. The food was good, but with such unkind service, I have no intention of coming back.

Sushi restaurant
Sushi Train Newtown is a vibrant dining destination that brings the excitement of conveyor belt sushi to life. This bustling eatery attracts a steady stream of eager diners, hinting at its popularity and delicious offerings. Guests can indulge in an impressive array of sushi, sashimi, and hot Japanese dishes like tempura and udon, all available seven days a week.
Great sushi train in the middle of Newtown with reasonable prices and a large variety of dishes. The sushi was fresh and reasonably priced. The service was quick and friendly. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended!
Terence H — Google review
Here is what you will see when you enter this restaurant after 8 pm. It said open till 9:30 but almost nothing on conveyor throughout the whole time before 8:30. The cooking staff was too busy to put more dishes on the conveyor because she needed to do the dishes and handle take away order first. The food I could get was also very disappointing. The sushi was either flavorless or full of mayo. The sushi rice is not well-mixed with vinegar, causing the Sushi Roll tastes like Korean rice roll instead of Sushi. And it was my first time in my life to eat a Gyudon made with sushi rice. The “Wagyu” was way too sweet, tastes like dessert. I wonder why so many people wait in line for this restaurant. It’s a waste of money.
Shawn Z — Google review
Absolutely love this branch of sushi train, kind of special for me.
Supanut P — Google review
Absolutely love this place! The sushi train setup makes dining fun and super convenient — plates come around fresh and fast, and there's always something new to try. The fish tastes fresh, the presentation is great, and the prices are very reasonable. Staff is friendly and quick to help if you need a custom order or hot dish. Great spot for a casual lunch or dinner with friends or family. Highly recommend if you’re a sushi fan!
Thomas M — Google review
Sushi train has one of the best varieties of sushi to offer. The sashimi quality is good and the rolls with crunchy prawn/chicken are fresh and hot. However the staff is not very friendly and didn’t portrait a sense of welcoming to customers. Price is higher on average compared to other sushi places.
Trang L — Google review
I love the variety of sushi that they have, so good sushi experience. You can scan the menu, use your camera to do it, and order. They prepare everything quite fast, so you won't wait for so long. My favourite sushi 🍣 are the ones grilled and the miso soup. Also I didn't realize that there's a bathroom inside.
Gisa — Google review
Simply what is needed, classic sushi. fresh, good variety and reasonably priced. Comfortable and not trying to be more.
J Y — Google review
Still my favourite sushi place in Newtown. Quality has remained the same, salmon harami is the best if you love fatty salmon, service is great and they have increased their variety over the years. Get there around 6pm and usually there's no line but after that be prepared to wait a little while for a table.

Sushi restaurant
SushiGoi is a delightful Japanese restaurant nestled along Coogee Bay Road, offering an enticing array of hand rolls, sashimi, and tempura that are made to order. This vibrant eatery features a sushi train that adds a fun twist to your dining experience. Open daily for lunch and dinner, SushiGoi caters to families with its diverse menu options and affordable plate prices ranging from $2.90 to $7.50.
with fabulous decoration and great service, this is always my best choice when I come to Cogee beach. You can tell all the food are so fresh and they also have wide range of menu including ramen and teriyaki beef . Really love they use the train to deliver your order! it’s very wonderful place for families
叶依 — Google review
We visited SushiGoi for dinner tonight and unfortunately the evening started very unpleasantly and just went downhill from there. We ordered Saki which was served ice cold and at request it was heated up and subsequently delivered piping hot. The green tea came with a tea bag in a tiny cup and the Miso soup was served with a plastic spoon. We were asking for a proper spoon and were told that the restaurant apparently is not serving "normal" spoons because kids could get hurt. We are still confused, we ordered the miso - and we are not kids. The options on the sushi train were minimal, see photo. Dining areas for each customer generally have pickled ginger and wasabi on option? Not here. The presentation of the sushi was below average, with unevenly cut sushi and sashimi presented in weird looking heaps of rice. At some point the chef retrieved a packaged piece of tuna from the fridge. No guest wants to see that. One of the chefs wore his hat side ways with the ties dangling around his left ear. He washed the clear plastic lids of the sushi plates just from the inside by swirling around the water from the tap with his fingers. Seeing that, you can't help but start to visualise different types of bacteria cultures yet to be discovered, spreading over the kitchen counter. The manager advised us that this particular technique of washing the dishes was a requirement of council. Waverly Council? Needless to say our feedback was not received gratefully by the management which was disappointing, as some of the dishes actually displayed promising flavours. Overall dining experience, even for "casual dining" as the management described their food service, was underwhelming to say the least.
Silke W — Google review
Nothing wrong with this place in my experience. Not the best sushi I've ever had, but it's still good! The staff was more friendly than what I am used to around Australia as well. Maybe I was just lucky, but definitely no complaints from my side! This place has a very good deal from mon-wed (almost all plates $3,30) I'd definitely check it out on one of those days if I were you.
Carla V — Google review
unbelievable service, not really sure if he is the chef, but he was ignorance to the surroundings and keep glued to his phone. The only thing is good was the "soft drinks" i think chef make the sushi in the phone game👍
HAARIN — Google review
Sushigoi is my absolute favorite restaurant in Coogee beach. The food is always fantastic and environment are so nice! Especially sushi made by chef Hardiman. The service we received was so amazing !Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in Coogee beach.
Chu J — Google review
Used to love coming here, always fresh sushi and lots on the train. But after tonight I am done. Hardly anything to choose from. All the sushi ingredients were left on the bench with flies sitting on everything. I ordered a seared beef and they took an old one from the train, reheated it and put more sauce on top. Sushi used a wet/dirty chux cloth to continually wipe his hands on and cross contaminated raw salmon with chicken and tuna. Such a shame as this use to be the best sushi in town.
Jenny C — Google review
I hate to have to say that but this restaurant has very low hygiene standards. I found a dead bug in my plate (not a tiny fly, an actual cockroach). The QR code didn’t work I waited 45min for nothing, and then the food was very low quality. A sad experience honestly.. :/

Conveyor belt sushi restaurant
Sushi Train Bondi Junction is a popular sushi restaurant in Sydney that offers a wide variety of sushi and sashimi on a moving belt. In addition to the conveyor belt system, they also have hot Japanese dishes available. While the prices may be higher, customers can expect fresh and delicious fish. The scallops are particularly soft and amazing, while the Wagyu Nigiri provides a buttery and satisfying end to the meal.
Really great good, and very fresh. I never felt like I was pulling old fish off a conveyor belt. It's fun to watch them make it in front of you. They all yell hello and goodbye to everyone who comes and goes. Great vibe, very fun, and tasty.
Bobby R — Google review
I ordered Ebi Tempura Udon because they didn't have a Donburi (Rice meals). The prawn in the udon was big and crispy and delicious. The salmon nigiri was also very tasty. The sushi cola was interesting, I say it tastes like a cross between Cola and Sprite (It was written 'Japanese Green tea Cola'. If you want to drink alcohol, it seems that they only have Asahi beer here.
Eri S — Google review
Very fresh sushi, good affordable prices. Staff were overly helpful and attentive. Very positive vibe with a great selection of music to bop along to while enjoying the sushi. Keep up the good work sushi train Bondi junction!!

Sushi Train at Bondi Junction is a fun and friendly place to eat at any time of the day. The staff greet everyone as they walk in and again all yell out goodbyes as you leave. It’s really fun. The plates of food that role past are plentiful with lots of variety. You can even get yummy desserts and fruit bowls. The sushi chefs are constantly making dishes in the centre so you can see everything is freshly made.
Penny C — Google review
Came here while staying in Sydney. Prices are on the higher end, but the fish is fresh and delicious. The scallops were soft and amazing, with the Wagyu Nigiri being buttery and a perfect end to the dinner. The atmosphere is great with the belt going around the sushi bar. They also offer at seat online ordering in case you don't see what you want on the belt. Would highly recommend for anyone that has never had conveyer belt sushi before.

A new favourite - first time in years since we ate here - we’ve eaten at Bondi Junction Sushi Train a number of times but that hasn’t rung my bells. This one just tasted fresher and we both liked it more. Over the road from Bondi Beach - what’s not to like!? Maybe ten bench seats inside facing the sushi train, or tables and chairs facing the street outside. Have Asahi and Sapporo beers and a Lemon shochu if you like. Sashimi not on the passing train but can be ordered from the waitress - only complaint was one piece of white fish like snapper was very thin - maybe expensive. Anyway we want to come back! Second time - lots of interesting variety and spicy this and that in interesting combinations - real wasabi is a bonus with nicer taste than nasty horseradish - yeah still good - happy with.
Ultimobile — Google review
A great place to have sushi from the train while looking out across Bondi beach. Please of selections available and freshly made on site. The salmon melted in your mouth. $110 for two.
NotNow — Google review
Quite a nice spot for you who want to enjoy japanese food when visiting Bondi beach, they have quite various sushi, noodle, rice. The indoor space is a bit tight but they also have outdoor space with heater so you wont freeze while eating sushi in the winter. The food is quite delicious, even not a wow and still quite a healthy choice.
Zondy W — Google review
Yesterday, on October 22nd at around 4:00 in the afternoon, I went to Sushi Train in Bondi Beach and had a terrible experience. It felt like the waitress was doing us a favor by serving us. She had a very serious face the whole time and was extremely rude. If she doesn’t like working with the public, she should be placed somewhere out of sight. This place will never see my money again. If you want to go to Sushi Train, go to the one in Bondi Junction — the atmosphere there is much better, the staff are always smiling, and the sushi is way better.
Juliana J — Google review
Sushi at this place is nothing extraordinary. No choice of sashimi is served. Hot tea or miso soup is also not served. Seating arrangement is average. Price is unreasonably high. For one person, average price is $45.
Mohammad H — Google review
Came here today Saturday 17/5 @450pm to get early dinner I was shocked 😳 that the place was empty but the service was applying about 4 female and one male look very grumpy and didn’t want to served us properly. Most of the hot food was very cold and not very appealing wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone Better go to Newtown much better staff and service always happy and go above and beyond

Love a good sushi train! Good options on the conveyor belt, and sushi tasted fresh, however chicken was a bit overcooked (way too crunchy), and there is very limited seating as the venue is tiny! Service is friendly and efficient, and good prices for what you get!

The BEST SUSHI TRAIN branch in whole of Sydney as I’ve been to nearly all of them and here is where I get the best variety. It’s also affordable and freshly made so it’s a great feed. Thank you to the team for making such great sushi!

Average sushi but a bit westernized. They put a lot of salad dressing on the top which cover the authentic taste and feels a bit unhealthy. Service was average as well. One bad thing was that there was no wasabi unless you asked for it but the waitress was busy 🙃 Also, I believe it would be better if the customers are told the price of each color at the beginning.

One of the best sushi trains in sydney. Always fresh and so light. The chicken is always fresh and hot when you order! I had tuna and cucumber it is so yummy. I had a chefs special of some kind of torched salmon wrapped around rice with some kind of topping that’s looked like crab it was to die for!
Lara R — Google review
Lunched yesterday at 1pm and I was the only sit in customer. Looked up today's special on the blackboard which showed "sand writing" and "snapper". Asked for snapper, responded by telling me no snapper today!! Tried to choose from the moving train.... the snapper sign stood there still but no snapper.

Good selection of sushi served by enthusiastic staff. The quality was good, rice is perhaps a little hard and resistant to soaking up the dipping soy sauce, and the variety was amazing for such a small set up. The choice also extended to the sauces and condiments, including teriyaki, mayonnaise, ginger and wasabi. The downside was everything was packaged and hence the loss of a star

Sushi Train Randwick is a delightful destination for sushi lovers, offering an extensive array of sushi and sashimi on a convenient conveyor belt. Open daily for lunch and dinner, this eatery features a menu that mirrors other locations in Sydney, showcasing everything from nigiri and rolls to ramen and dumplings. With prices starting at just $3.00 per plate, it’s an affordable option for families or anyone craving Japanese cuisine.
I’ve visited half a dozen times in the last month since discovering it. Fresh sushi, lots of options and I love ordering the vege tempura and Udon off the menu. Service is quick and friendly. Prices are reasonable!
Maddy P — Google review
Probably the worst sushi train we have been too! The food on the train looked so old like it had been sitting for hours! Also prices are much higher than both Bondi and Maroubra and the variety just isn’t great! Try Bondi or Maroubra sushi and ingredients are so much fresher.
Kaydee — Google review
Great service and super friendly staff at this Sushi Train. Sushi is average, Ngiri handled so much rice + sliver of meat and quite pricey. I find you getter better quality sushi at joints like Sushi Hotaru for the same price. Only reason I came here was it was raining and I couldn’t go all the way to the city for good sushi. Overall decent but I’ve seen better. Good vibe and kid friendly

The best Sushi Train out of the entire chain. Just adore it here, food always fresh, staff always happy to get extra sauces and special dishes, the vibes are impeccable. As much as I would like to gate keep… this place is the best!

My kids love the Randwick Sushi Train. The dumplings here are delicious! The only downside is that most of the sushi is made from Salmon - my husband doesn't eat Salmon so not many options for him.

Sep and were back because this place kicks many many sushi places this side of the sydney . . . Back here again, amazed at the standard selection. Cant believe you can get engawa and mackeral on the train! . AMAZED the huge selection of food options for a neighbourhood sushi train, all fresh and delicious

Usual great service from this chain of sushi train. Service was good, the food was good, however due to the relatively quiet period that we came there wasn’t as much variety on the train, but you could obviously order from the menu what you liked. Overall great experience. I thought it was well priced as well only paid about 45$

We came here for dinner and it was awesome. Continuous tasty food, helpful service and great atmosphere. Of course, being a sushi train, a little pricey, but that's to be expected.

After eating, I went to pay and was told my bluish grey plate was charged as an orange plate?!?!?! When I spoke to the chef about how that was possible, he said I should have asked him. This is obviously deceptive advertisement, and it's a shame because the sushi is very nice despite not having purple/black rice options. I suggest you ask if the colours of the plates actually correspond to the price displayed before you select each and every plate, least you be surprised as I was.

Seen mixed reviews on this place however I thought it was actually really nice and good priced. Ordered pork gyozas which were just okay but the sushi we got off the sushi train were very very nice, service on the gyozas was quick and staff are very friendly

Sensational!!! My Sashimi was so fresh and looked beautiful 💗 I'm pretty fussy so thank youfor such a beautiful experience.

I chose Sushi Hero as a place for my lunchtime today. Good things: - Some of the side dishes are very good (creamy prawn, fried chicken that I ate) - The train and lits of each place look really clean. Not bad but I think restaurant can improve: - the diversity of sushi on the train (during the time I was there) is not so good, many plates of the same type of sushi running back and forth on the train without seeing the appearance of new dishes, tho I see a lot of sushi plates were putting after the train. Just my pov: - Staffs are friendly but a bit hard to call tho there were 3 staffs around table🥹 - The oyster with grilled cheese is a bit fishy to me, I can feel it when taste tho added some lime. But chicken and prawn is so delicious. - Price are a bit high for lunch (pov)

This shop is absolutely a joke. They claim to close the shop at 9pm but shut down everything at 8.45pm just because they want to go home early. While I can see there are still many unsold sushi box but they rather have them all in the bin than taking my cash and sell them to me. That's a huge waste on food! Absolutely making no sense.

The restaurant operates 7 days a week for both lunch and dinner, serving up nigiri, rolls, hand rolls, ship, curry, noodles, hot dishes, salad, sashimi, ramen and more. They also offer a Kids Box deal for dine-in or takeaway.
I tried five dishes, including three cold from the conveyance and two deep fried directly from the kitchen. All were tasty and reasonably priced. The service was very fast. The setting was very clean and elegant.

We ordered a large variety of sushi here and almost everything was great. My only issue was that the scallop had an unusually strong fishy taste, but the salmon, kingfish and tuna were all good. I also really enjoyed the $9 udon and thought it was great value.
Imy B — Google review
Every time I come here i'm reminded why I'm not a regular. i am always disappointed but this time was the worst and last time. All plates same price except black plates. Anything decent looking was a black plate and you just end up watching the same small selection going around and around. The tempura prawn roll was cold, dry and all tough batter and the spicy tuna rolls were undercooked rice and hardly any tuna. Although the service was friendly enough the food was really disappointing. I had 3 plates, didn't finish and left.

This is my first time at this Sushi Train outlet and my first impressions were good. The decor was classy and appeared like an upmarket sushi restaurant. I was greeted by a friendly waitress and was seated. I noticed that there was a QR code for ordering although the waitress did ask me for drinks. The first thing to standout in the sushi was how fresh it was. The salmon was melt in mouth good as was the squid. This was unlike any other Sushi Train I had been to. There was also a good balance of good quality nigiri on offer as opposed to the other outlets where there was a heavy focus on sushi rolls and mayo smothered creations. Here, there was salmon belly and other premium cuts on offer on the train as well as mixed sashimi. I also ordered the Karage chicken Udon and at $16. it only came out with 4 relatively small pieces of chicken and the batter was no crispy as other places. The bowl was small too but the broth was good and the Udon was chewy. Also, one piece of chicken was half raw and this was met with attention as the waitress informed the chef and I was only charged for the Udon. Overall, despite the hiccup with the chicken, it was the best Sushi Train outlet I have been to and on par with some good quality sushi trains like Makoto (albeit lacking the variety). I will be back!

Hey brutherrrr, me and my daughter decided to take a turn into this said sushi eatery but unfortunately it was nothing like any other sushi train I have been to. I am relatively familiar with sushi train and just sushi in general but thus was nothing of the sort, the staff was good but there was only two people working so it must of been hard for them to manage a whole restaurant for example we had ordered drinks and they took a very long time to get to us as there was only 1 person working at that time and she had to manage orders and the front desk thingy the 2 waiters where nice but over worked and the food was nice. Overall I think it is a good place to order from but if you are planning to sit down I would advise against it. 😀:(

The sushi here are good. There are great variety of sushi & fried goodness (karaage chicken, spring roll, prawn moneybags, kakiage tempura). Love coming here as you can choose & pick your items using the thongs & tray provided. There are a few tables if you’d like to sit outside. Service is fast but always friendly! Please note that the hours on Google Maps is incorrect, as they are currently open at lunchtime (I believe they close around 2pm or 2.30pm).

Does not serve customers in the order they check out. The cashier pre-populated (on the POS machine) the order of another customer who queued up at the till after myself, and asked me to move aside so he could check them out first to avoid having to do it all over again. Such a ridiculous notion. The items are also not fresh. There are other takeaway sushi places nearby, give this one a clear miss.

We visited Niji Sushi Bar (Kingsford) at 6 PM, on a Sunday night and thankful we made a reservation for a table as it was very busy. (Limited table seating, but they also do offer Shushi train seating) We opted for the degustation menu priced at $69.00, or $85.00 with matching wines. The Food Review: worth slightly over 3.5 stars Charred Yukari Edamame: A delightful start, seasoned well and perfectly charred. Miso Soup: A comforting classic, though I’ve certainly had better elsewhere. Kingfish Carpaccio: Thinly sliced and refreshing, this dish was good, however some diners mentioned they would have preferred thicker portions . Spicy Tuna Canapé: the combination of textures and flavours I thought was impressive but others at the table said they had experienced better. Sashimi (Salmon + Tuna): Fresh and tasty, though it didn’t quite reach the level of excitement of the previous dishes. Salmon Nori Taco: nice with good flavours Miso Cream Scallops: Unfortunately, most were overcooked and a bit dry, which was disappointing. Slipper Lobster Tempura: Fair, but I expected more; it contained only a minimal amount of Balmain Bugs- not lobster, plus we faced a 10-minute wait for the same dish for the other diners. Wagyu Kushiyaki Beef Skewers: Tender and tasty Chef's Selection of Desserts: A lovely finish to the meal, with a nice variety to enjoy. As for the Wine Pairing, the selections were good, but unfortunately, they didn’t arrive in sync with the dishes, which was frustrating. A tip for fellow diners: consider BYO wine for just $5 per person; it could save you from the wine timing woes and a dry mouth. Service: The staff were friendly and attentive, consistently refilling our water every 3-5 minutes. I just wish the matched wine service had been as timely. Overall, most dishes were enjoyable, though a few missed the mark. Niji Sushi Bar is a good choice for a casual night out, especially if you opt to bring your own wine! Just a note: there is an additional 10% surcharge for dining on Sundays. 15% on Public Holidays

Had an amazing time with a group of friends here. A booking was made for the 14 of us beforehand, seating was comfy! Food taste and quality were superb, plating and presentation had people with their phones out snapping shots for the Gram, service was attentive yet warm and friendly. A good mix of Japanese traditional and themed beverages, with cocktails that, again, had people taking photos. The duck sushi rolls was a highlight!

My family have come here dozens of times and the food has consistently been flavourful, with a menu that has great variety and wonderfully contrasting textures. Tonight I made a special request for our waitress Jess to ask the Manager Paul to greet my grandfather Tom by his name when he arrived, to lift his spirits. For my grandfather, the familiarity of remembering his face and receiving a warm welcome is the mark of an establishment he would return to again and again. They happily obliged and it left my grandfather with a smile that spoke a thousand words! Thank you Jess, Paul and the Niji team for not just providing amazing food, but a consistently accomodating & welcoming experience 😁🙏

There’s indoor and outdoor seating, friendly staff, and it’s licensed – you can BYO wine for a corkage fee. It’s pretty popular — ranking #1 among Japanese in Kingsford on TripAdvisor. Critics and regulars often praise the freshness, variety, and value.

The lady in charge of the restaurant was rude and angry. My food order was wrong . A young girl politely took it back and wanted to replace it however the incharge lady brought the same food back and told me take it for half price. I said I don’t want it . To my surprise , it had no effect on her . They also missed one of our entrees and she put it back on our table when my kids were about to finish our main course . Disgusting service and I was made to feel unwelcome . For a 9 yr old and a 17 yr old and me we spent over $100 dollars and didn’t deserve a service like this . Highly suggest don’t visit till that lady is running the show ( she might own it unfortunately )

Sushi Train is a delightful dining experience that features an array of sushi and sashimi gliding along a conveyor belt, alongside hot Japanese dishes. While some diners have noted that certain nigiri options, like the maguro tuna, can be hit or miss in terms of flavor and quality, many appreciate the generous portions offered. Despite mixed reviews on specific items, Sushi Train has proven to be a reliable choice for catering needs; customers have praised their attention to detail and ability to accommodate dietary restrictions.
My son, his girlfriend and I popped in here for a meal, even though we weren't particularly hungry after too many dips into the antipasti at home beforehand. It was a relatively busy night - always a good sign, but we didn't have to wait long for a table to be available. There was a wide range to choose from, with plenty of crumbed and fried dishes, nigiri sushi, tofu pockets, eel, right through to desserts. The ambience is nothing special, and the service is fine. Cost for 3 of us = $55

Ordered take away & unfortunately the food was really poor quality. Absolutely drowning in creamy sauce, falls apart as soon as you touch it and flavour was quite strange. I did not finish it all.

Ordered during their $3.80 promotion, placed the order as they recommended on the flyer as a “pre-order” at midday for a 7pm pick up. No one knew anything about the order when we went to pick it up, place was utter chaos and ended up leaving 20mins later and got food somewhere else. Had been a regular at their restaurant since it opened, now will never go back - it has totally gone downhill. Definitely NOT worth it.
Didi B — Google review
I have been a long time supporter of this Sushi train since it opened in Maroubra. The food uses to be amazing, great portions, impeccable service but as of recently all these aspects have been on the decline. I am not usually the one to leave a negative review but todays dining experience has been very unfavorable. Here are a list of reasons why: -Usually staff asks what drink you would like, i didnt get asked. -I ordered a hot green tea and it never came -portion sizes have been drastically reduced. Especially nigiri, topping on very small portion of rice -toppings spilled out on the plate from ship dishes -ordered some take away dishes for my partner and when it came out, they looked like theyve been in a car ride even when it was just made. (Toppings spilled out, maki rolls all on its sides) I hope in time they can rectify these issues among others and return back to their former glory, I will give them another try in the future but as for now I wont be.
Tony L — Google review
Ordered via Uber eats- many of the sushi weren’t covered the whole way in rice and the ones that were had a very thin layer. The teriyaki sushi had teriyaki sauce dripping everywhere. Disapponting experience
Rebecca A — Google review
We ordered takeaway during their $3.50 per plate special, but unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. The restaurant felt disorganized and poorly managed. When we arrived at 4:30pm, we noticed takeaway bags for other orders already packed and labeled for pickup times as late as 6:30pm. For a Japanese restaurant serving sashimi, preparing raw fish hours in advance is extremely concerning, as it raises serious food safety risks. Our own order took more than 50 minutes, and when we finally received it, the sushi was far from fresh. The rolls looked messy and squashed, almost as if they had been dropped and tossed back into the container. For a $55 takeaway order for two, the presentation and quality were unacceptable. Honestly, even supermarket sushi from Woolworths is fresher and better presented than what we were served today.
Kevin T — Google review
Ordered takeaway. The bag split open and lost half my order to the road. The lovely girl on the phone said the takeout bags being flimsy was a known issue and yet the Manager (Frankie) refused to acknowledge or rectify the issue with me.
Alicia S — Google review
More gimmick than good food! 👎 I give this place the absolute minimum number of stars. This is your basic sushi train type restaurant. The food here is poor, the salmon was over cooked, dry and the sauce was burnt. The eggplant tempura was soggy. The Japanese tea is served in a coffee mug and the service is super rushed. Overall cheap ingredients, left out too long and overuse of mayonnaise. The table and decor feel cluttered. I have added a few images so you get an idea. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere, with so many great options available in Maroubra I don’t think I will visit again.

Sushi Junction is a beloved takeaway spot that has captured the hearts of sushi enthusiasts for nearly a decade. Renowned for its fresh offerings, the menu features an array of delightful options, including vibrant salads and comforting hot dishes like donburi. The prawns and avocado salad stands out with generous slices of creamy avocado and a delicious dressing—though some patrons wish for just a bit more.
I love this takeaway sushi place. Been coming here for nearly ten years and the quality has remained consistently unchanged (aside from the price increases). They have extended their hot dishes from way back. But my all-time favourite is their seafood or salmon salad. It is filling, with soba noodle, avocado, tomato, capsicum and mix greens. But could use a bit more dressings, though, the dressing comes in a very tiny tub. They can also do platters for functions with three sizes: small, medium or large. I ordered a medium size platter and it's enough to feed 10-12 people (it's double layer). Service is good and very quick. Can get busy during lunch rush.

I have been buying sushi rolls and rice paper rolls from Sushi Junction, Royal Randwick for sometime. I always choose the salmon and avocado rolls and recently after buying the salmon and avocado rice paper roll which cost me $5.30 I had a very bad experience. As I walked away I bit into the roll and I instantly could taste and smell that the salmon wasn't fresh. I quickly spat out what I'd just bitten and walked back and told the girl who had just served me what had just occurred. She then called the manager. I then began to explain to the Manager too the situation and all I got from him was that he had cut the salmon himself that morning. I replied to him that whoever his supplier was is then responsible for not selling him fresh salmon. He then turned around and abruptly walked away ignoring me completely. I was shocked by his attitude as I didn't receive an apology, wasn't offered a replacement or even my money back. I then just placed the sushi roll on his counter and walked away. I have never ever been treated like this from any food outlet. He was extremely rude and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I may have lost $5.30 but he has now lost a loyal customer who will never step foot near his outlet again. Please be very wary of his salmon rolls, they may not be fresh and you may unfortunately experience the same response as I did or worse get very sick eating seafood that is off!! Sue B. (Randwick).

I love everything about this place. From fresh sushi, their variations of salad and hot meal like donburi ( Japanese rice bowl) Bought the prawns and avocado salad, everything was fresh, generous amount of avocado slices and dressing was delicious, Only suggestion dressing could be more. Volcano was delicious same as the spicy emoji mushrooms. Prawn Donburi was enjoyable, tempura prawns was light, served 5 pieces. The only suggestion is the amount of sauce could be more.

Great Sushi but TERRIBLE customer Service from the Korean male shop assistant there I requested for two sushi products to be put aside for me last week I phoned the shop to keep them informed of pick up time as I was at work and had a hectic schedule and I had to change the pick up times At the end of the day I purchased two boxes which I requested to be put aside as agreed I’m also a regular weekly customer The girls are great to engage with but the male staff member there is selective in his customer service approach He advised me that he would no longer keep any sushi products aside for me to pick up after work It takes a lot for me to write public reviews and I want to share my customer experience here and give him an opportunity to reflect how detrimental his service approach is to loyal customers such as myself in our local shopping precinct Nice sushi but most importantly inconsistent customer service or am I having a bad sushi retail experience here Thoughts ?

My $10 cash note had a tiny tear (fixable by sticky tape) and I was trying to purchase the stale sushi at 4pm. The manager would not accept the money so I will now take my $10 elsewhere. Absolutely ridiculous they wouldn’t accept legal tender.

Two chicken bones found in my brown rice sushi, one was small and sharp like a needle. This could've been a disaster if a child or unassuming person had eaten it.

Unbelievably good service. I had a function today and the original shop I ordered the food from lost my order. I arrived at Sushi Junction at 7:15am this morning when my event started at 10am. The team made two extra large platters for me that were ready at 9am when they predicted they would be and my guests and I loved every part of the platter. Thank you guys I would highly recommend them.

The absolute BEST sushi. ever! So fresh, generous sizing and fair price! So SO delicious!! Brown rice is so soft, Inari not too sweet. My husband loves the prawn bowl and I enjoy all the tofu and vege rolls as a vegan. Vege dumplings also great

Sushi restaurant
Sushi Kun, a Japanese restaurant in Sydney, offers incredible sushi with fresh and perfectly sized fish, complemented by delicious rice. The balance of flavor and texture is impeccable. Although the prices may be slightly higher for a takeaway joint, the quality makes it worthwhile. Considered as the best takeaway sushi in Sydney, Sushi Kun has gained popularity for its good value and generous portion sizes.
A hidden local gem. This place makes some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Definitely the best sushi in Sydney. The fish is always so fresh! I wish it was open on Sundays as we would order it almost every week as our lazy Sunday night meal. Regardless we often order it multiple times a week. Call ahead to pre-order as it’s takeaway only and the wait can be 20+ mins while they freshly prepare your order.

The salmon don was incredible; it was loaded with seafood and the tomago and rice were well seasoned. Highly recommended!! No dining in store
Kiel S — Google review
We chose this place for lunch based on the great reviews and it did not disappoint! The sushi is very tasty and the fish is very fresh! There is a bit of a wait for preparation but it only confirms the quality of the food! Nice to eat after at the beach.
Tatiana N — Google review
This joint is crazy good, seriously. Everything is takeaway and made fresh to order so just call 15 mins before you pull up. Try the chicken katsu medium roll.

Have been going to Sushi Kun for over 8 years and absolutely love it. The food is delicious and extremely well priced compared to other sushi places. The owner Nick is very kind and passionate about his food. I recommended Sushi Kun to everyone!

Great fresh sushi and sashimi at very reasonable prices.
Christine C — Google review
This would have to be the best place for sushi in the eastern suburbs.
Adrian B — Google review
Amazing sushi, fish is fresh and just the right bite size, even the rice itself is delicious - exact right balance of flavour & texture. Just a bit on the pricey side considering it's a takeaway 'hole in the wall' kinda place. Still, worth it. Best takeaway sushi I had in Sydney.

Nikku Bowl Sushi World, situated in Maroubra Junction's Pacific Square, is a recently opened sushi shop that cannot be missed by sushi enthusiasts. The establishment offers a diverse range of delightful bowl food, sushi rolls, and more. The friendly counter service and preparation team add to the pleasant dining experience. Nikku skillfully combines flavors from Japan, Korea, and the Pacific region.
I really like their hot foods. Can get them early morning and it’s hot fresh!

Accepts uber order. Realises they don't have what i want. Won't cancel the damn order. Wants me to cancel it so i get the cancellation fee. Doesn't compromise and make me something else i can eat. Sends me a random bunch of stuff that includes things I'm allergic to.

These sushi packs are cut so thinly I can’t even pick it up coz it falls apart. It’s literally about a third of the thickness of a normal piece of sushi in a pack. Rip off. Go elsewhere brah 👎🏼
Jaimee G — Google review
Salmon sushi here is so yummy and fresh. It’s my new favorite for sushi now.
Julia A — Google review
As a sushi fan I could not by-pass Nikku Bowl Sushi World a shop that recently opened in October 2020 at Pacific Square, Maroubra Junction. Nikku offers fresh, vibrant ‘bowl food’, sushi rolls and much more. The counter service are friendly as well as the preparation team. Nikku draws flavours from Japan, Korea and the Pacific.

Love the takoyaki and rolls. However, eat two times and the sushi are too salty for me. The wasabi tastes very artificial also. Pic: Takoyaki

It's located inside Woolies, next to the entrance. The sushi and salad are never disappointing. Always the same as ever. The salmon is better than other places. Great option for a quick lunch.
Kim O — Google review
I went to Sushi Izu Mascot on Sunday around 1PM to buy chicken baby box for my two starving toddlers waiting in the car park with my husband. I checked what they had on the shelf and unfortunately there were none of this variant there. There were two guys in Sushi Izu kitchen. Guy one (A) seem to be cleaning up the equipment, the other one (B) seem to be making more batches. The two were seen laughing giggling with whatever chat they had in their "Sunday-afternoon-shift". I asked them if they can make me chicken baby box. A seem to about tell B to make one for me. However B just responded saying they are running out of rice. The two were seen laughing in whole conversation. And I can seem to feel that its just the lazy-ness of B who said that they dont have any. Because the way he answered my question was making it fun. Regardless, I went back to check whats left on the counter to substitute what my sons might accept, and the whole time I'm there checking the two guys sounded giggling on whatever conversation they are having, Which made me curious to ask again if they are really running out of rice? Then I asked them again, "are you sure you're running out of rice??" Then B said "ah, maybe we can make some for you". THEN, he showed me a tray with around 4-5 flat seaweed topped with rice ready to have topping on top. This is devastating. That means this guy really lied to me for the sake of keeping the funny conversation with his colleague???? Also to back up his laziness?????? The whole time he talked to me was like holding the giggle. Then I thought he is going to make one but he said he didnt have any more katsu, only teriyaki. This time he ALSO said the whole sentence with giggle. I now cant differentiate between the truth and lies anymore. Enough is enough. I shouted "Man, its not funny at all!" I have been holding myself saying this since the beginning but the second he said he dont have enough ingredients to make, I classed it as another lie. IT WAS VERY DEVASTATING. He must have seen me rushing to just get the box, but didnt take it seriously rather just be in their giggly-Sunday-afternoon shift world. They didnt even care or try to accommodate customer request, just lie and lie to avoid being given more task probably???? It was very disappointing to have seen this kind of attitude. To Woolies, I understand Sushi Izu is just a franchise. Whoever the franchisee employs, isn't directly employed by Woolworth. However may I suggest you to also make sure whoever works in the shopfloor regardless who the boss is, to be well trained, mannered and really the one who has willing to work is given the shift, not those who just there to make fun. To the franchisee of Sushi Izu Mascot, I am so sorry to have given you bad review to your business but I really do concern about your employees behaviour which will run down the business. I believe there are more genuine, passionate people out there, who are willing to work in more professional manner than those I met just now. I hope you can be more selective when employing new staff, or perhaps give them more proper training and regularly ensure they are still on the "correct track". Ps. I already spoke to Sona who is the manager at Woolworths Mascot. She felt so sorry with my experience, but I still want to directly pass this to the owner of Sushi Izu for review.

A straightforward salmon avacado is pricey. Gone are the days where they used to sell 2 rolls for a deal. Not coming back.

Great place. Staff are friendly. Sushi made on premise so is always fresh and they seem accommodating if there is something you need changed. Also very well priced

Nice little restaurant. Food was reasonably priced. We did have to ask for our miso soup that was meant to come with our Katsu Chicken Egg Don. The guy who served us kindly brought it out for us after we asked about it. Will be back in the future.

This is my third time here. The skewers was delicious . Every time I met the woman at counter she was not friendly at all. Not smile not welcome not even say hello. I didn’t expect the 5 star service but the guy I think he’s the owner very welcome.

Been here many many times and really love the quality and variety of the food. The sushi is very fresh and the sushi rice tastes great, better than lots of other Japanese restaurants in Melbourne. There's not many buffet restaurant out there makes me feel like trying every dishes but this place does. Seriously try more dishes and you will like it. Highly recommend the ice cream too, and we purchased a box of 2 litre last time. Definitely will come again!
