Asian fusion restaurant
Modern Australian restaurant
Supernormal is a trendy Asian-fusion restaurant in St Kilda, known for its vibrant atmosphere and open kitchen. The menu offers a variety of Japanese, Chinese, and Korean flavors, with options like duck and lamb. Guests can also enjoy karaoke in a dedicated booth after their meal. Andrew McConnell's expertise in Asian cuisine shines through dishes like the lobster roll made with local crayfish and Japanese Kewpie mayonnaise.
Visiting this place from a friend’s recommendation. And tbh, it’s beyond what i expect. Nice food and amazing wine list. Really enjoying a whole dinning experience. Since i’m going solo, i’m happy that some of their menu available for half portion. I order szechuan pickled, chicken prawn dumpling, prawn toast, cold cut chicken, tuna and oyster. Everything is beautiful. Their peanut butter & chocolate desserts is to die for. I mean, what can go wrong with those combos? Surely i will comeback for the next visit.

Although wasn’t intended to visit as my son just needed to go to the toilets but the manager was very nice and kind so we stayed for lunch after knowing it’s an Asian fusion restaurant. The dishes were amazing. Very well plated and cooked. We had a pleasant time.
Yiyun W — Google review
This is my second time at this restaurant, and the food is still just as good. We ordered the lobster burgers and sticky rice cakes again, like last time, and also tried some new dishes. I highly recommend the roast pork—it’s perfectly cooked, soft, juicy, and full of flavor. The dumplings, on the other hand, were a bit too plain and not very impressive. The flounder was an interesting surprise for me. It came with a type of Japanese kombu I hadn’t tried before—it looked grey, turned a little slimy when eaten, and had a very strong taste. Personally, I enjoyed it, but I can see how it might not be

***** Supernormal: My Go-To for a Fantastic Night Out! Supernormal is, quite simply, my favorite spot in the city. After five visits, it remains consistently excellent. Everything, from the moment you walk in, is top-notch. The food is always the star, and I can never go past the lamb, it's always incredible, perfectly cooked, and a dish I look forward to every single time. And let's not forget that amazing little complimentary touch: the soy-roasted pumpkin seeds they bring out at the beginning are addictive! Beyond the food, the ambience is buzzing yet comfortable, the service is always great (attentive but never intrusive), and they truly nail the drinks. Their cocktails are inventive and delicious, and the wine selection is broad and thoughtful. Supernormal delivers a fantastic experience across the board. If you're looking for an unforgettable meal and a great time, this is the place. I can't wait for my sixth visit!

My colleague and I had lunch on Saturday, September 27th. We thought it was a very pleasant venue to get together. The menu is somewhat limited, but we didn't worry about it. The quality was great. We had double portions of the Lobster roll ( 2 each), the Duck leg, and the Scallops. Prepare to pay premium prices. We were seated at the counter which isn't convenient for personal conversations. ( hence 4 stars). The staff were very accommodating ( The manager (?) in the black suit and glasses was a typical and a professional host. Compliments to the Sommelier. Delightful wine list and the Medhurst Chardonnay 2024 ( Yarra Valley) was such a great accompaniment with the lobster rolls.

Friday night 5pm no reservation no problem. Grand Final eve so the vibe was great. Excellent Gin Martini served politely and professionally by Jez I think? Snake Bean side excellent, Prawn Toast and Lobster roll A1…. but what brought me to tears literally with some Umami taste stimulated dopamine hit …was a special dish of a Shark Bay WA Scallops. Seaweed butter torched on shell with some sort of Culinary Voodoo inspired seasoning it became immediately the most delicious thing I’ve eaten in decades. We hastily ordered another serve. Having been reviewed weekly in my own hospitality environment I am not prone to thrashing out reviews for reviews sake. Truly exceptional experience food and service.

My partner and I went to supernormal which is a Melbourne institution for Asian fusion. We sat at the bar/open kitchen and its great to see your food being cooked and plated right in front of you. Service and food where on point but in my opinion the dishes are overly sauces. Personally I just find my pallet in over driver after every dish. Don't get me wrong eveything was delicious! Do give this place a try~
Jono K — Google review
Booked for dinner here for two having been a while back as part of a larger group and wanted to share the experience. I'd originally booked a table for 8:15 but managed to move it to a bar sitting at 7:00 which suited much better and the staff were very flexible with helping with that. It's a buzzing place and the one thing we made comment on was that there was just the incredible sound and atmosphere of people chatting and enjoying themselves, without any heavy overbearing music anywhere. Made it very easy to chat and enjoy and discuss everything we were eating. We went for the set menu option 1 so we could try a little of everything and have to say that overall it was outstanding. The only dish that seemed to lack a little in our opinion was the chicken, which unfortunately was the main course, although the selection of dishes we had been served up to then didn't make this a massive disappointment, and in fact we asked for the chicken to be packed to go with us. Desert was a wonderfully decadent dish and the perfect finish. Will definitely be looking to come here again and try a variety of other dishes.

Japanese restaurant
Kisumé is a sophisticated Japanese restaurant in Australia, known for its high-standard approach to fine dining. It offers various dining experiences, including a private dining room and a New York-style sushi bar. The Chablis Bar at Kisumé pairs seafood with a choice of 80 different chardonnays. The restaurant's elegant and subdued simplicity ties together its diverse eating options, all focused on delivering exceptional food and wine.
Price is kind of high, but it's worth it for what you get. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive. The atmosphere is kind of dark and moody, nothing really stood out to me. I was worth a friend and we were able to have a nice conversation without disturbing others or hearing others conversations. They have a couple set menus or an a la carte menu. Also, the menu has many shareable dishes.
Dean S — Google review
Very disappointing experience at Kisumé. I was questioning myself whether only chef table can be called “customer” in this restaurant. The service felt rushed and dismissive — staff asked for feedback but walked away before I could answer more. My dishes were served in a strange order (starter tofu came last). The sashimi set was not good — the tuna slices were broken and falling apart. The lobster maki was overloaded with fried ingredients and heavy sauce, making the lobster flavor disappear. Even the bites looked cheap and poorly plated. For a so-called fine dining restaurant, the quality of both food and service was unacceptable. I will not return and would not recommend this place.
Bella W — Google review
Beautiful Japanese restaurant with a refined vibe. We did the sake tasting experience over dinner and it was fantastic. I’m vegetarian and was really impressed with the dedicated veg menu—thoughtful, seasonal, and full of flavour (not just an afterthought). Every dish was beautifully presented and delicious. There’s plenty of space, the central location is super convenient, and the room comfortably accommodated our group. Staff were warm and knowledgeable; service was attentive without being intrusive, and everything ran like clockwork. Overall: superb food, great sake pairings, and hospitality to match. Highly recommend—especially if you’re looking for a vegetarian-friendly fine dining option in the CBD.

Such an amazing day at Kisume for the sushi masterclass with Chef Toaki Kyo. We enjoyed a mixture of sushi we assembled ourselves and many other gorgegous dishes from an exceptional kitchen. The non alcoholic pairing was superb, the Nashibo (Nashi, kiwi, kaffir lime and soda) was especially good. Recommended!
Cara M — Google review
Having attended Kisumé on a few occasions now, the dining experience is always exceptional. However in saying that, if you can get there earlier in evening when they're less busy, your experience will be improved. The food and drink options are incredible, with a diverse menu of dishes all match from scratch. Great for date nights and intimate dining experiences.
Matthew A — Google review
Dined at Kisumé on a Friday night, booking was 1930. Service was great, staff were friendly, food was served in perfect timing. Food was delicious, we ordered the chefs menu selection as well as some starters, such as the miso soup, edamame, Angus beef taru taru tart and 16piece sashimi. Everything was delicious! Highly recommend the beef tart and the edamame, so delicious. Great selection of cold sake and delicious cocktails.
Sarah B — Google review
Came here for our first wedding anniversary and we loved it! The price was decent as compared to a lot of other omakase/jap fine dining places and the quality was great. We had the chef's selection set menu. What sets them apart is their attention to detail and great service. Example, cheese cloth around their lemon for the oysters so there's no seeds falling into the food - minor details that get missed, they haven't! They even got a chocolate with 'Happy Anniversary' lettered on our dessert. Overall what a lovely night we had. Thanks for hosting us!
Dee K — Google review
We recently dined here and had a very mixed experience. Once seated, we were offered water and asked to look over the drinks menu, but after that, no one returned. We eventually had to flag someone down just to place a drinks order. Another staff member then gave us some food menus after a prolonged wait. Unfortunately, service remained inconsistent throughout the evening. Once we finished our first round of drinks, there was no follow-up or offer to order more. Again, we had to ask for the drinks menu ourselves. Empty wine glasses were brought promptly, but we then waited over 15 minutes for the wine to actually be served, only receiving it after chasing it up with staff. Empty glasses from the first round were also left on the table until we specifically asked for them to be cleared. Thankfully, when the food arrived, it was quite good and was the reason we chose to stay despite the ongoing service issues. After our mains, we were offered the dessert menu but experienced another long wait before anyone returned to take our order. Eventually, we gave up on dessert and asked for the check. Even then, we had to go to the front counter to pay, as no one returned to process the bill. For an almost $500 dinner for 2 people, the service was abysmal. Don’t get me wrong when you finally got the servers attention they were very friendly and happy to help but we were seated in the main thoroughfare, so it’s hard to understand how we were so frequently overlooked.

The menu features a fusion of Euro-Japanese dishes with French techniques, showcasing Kazuki's innovative culinary style. The restaurant's zen-filled dining room provides a comfortable setting for degustation dining paired with an impressive selection of sakes and special occasion wines.
Kazuki’s has been in the list for a longgg time so super excited to finally try it. It didn’t disappoint! Located on Lygon St but once you enter through the nondescript door, you’ll be transported to a cosy, intimate dinner and greeted by staff with a familiarity of an old friend. Service was relaxed so we get to enjoy our dinner and food was amazinggg. Everything was great but I especially love the entrees - would like highly recommend.

We had a 7-course tasting menu, but unfortunately, many of the dishes were below average. Some were overwhelmingly sour or sweet to the point where I couldn’t help but scrunch my face. The King shrimp with squid ink was served cold and felt overly greasy. While I enjoyed the duck, parts of it were so chewy that I had to spit some out. Both desserts felt like a random mix of flavors that didn’t complement each other. Overall, it didn’t feel worth the price for a fine dining experience. That said, the staff and service were excellent.

One of the best in Melbourne, classic Japanese French, the chief is great, the wine list is amazing too. Definitely a Michelin star worthy restaurant!

Highly recommend giving this place a try if you haven’t already! It’s been a few years since our last visit, and happy to say the food is still just as yummy. Every dish was beautifully plated and full of flavour — you can really tell they put care into both the presentation and the taste. The atmosphere is lovely too, making it a perfect spot for a date or special occasion.

High level, intricate and delicious Japanese meal. Presentation was impeccable. Service was subtle, excellent wine suggestions. Every course was superb - we could not choose our favorite. Highly recommended for a memorable, special occasion

Extremely good fine dining restaurant with a Japanese and French inspired kitchen. We had the 7 course menu. We "upgraded" to the wagyu beef. Highly recommended. The price per person was around $270 with only a glass of wine. The service was very professional.

Great dining experience! The food are delicious: > the appetizerssssss were amazing and I especially like the salmon ikura tart > the seaweed butter is creative and taste very good > the grill prawn is the most delicious dish of all, the seasoning, the grill is just perfect > we like the lamb main dish more than the upgraded wagyu but both of then are good The waiters are very welcoming and I can see them serving from the bottom of their heart. Online /phone reservation is needed.

We came here for my birthday back in April 2021. Last night we were in the area and decided to do an impromptu drop in to see if we could get a table. We were seated and we ate the 7 course meal for $220 pp. Everything was phenomenal. The meals were delicious. They were a nice fusion of French, Australian and Japanese styles. Masa and his crew were incredibly kind and the service was top notch. This is not one of those restaurants that make dishes that look good for social media posts with disappointing flavours. The flavours in the 7 course menu were adventurous and they all complimented each other so well. The scallops and lamb were so good! Can't wait to return again!

Ichi Ni Nana Izakaya is a trendy multi-level restaurant in Melbourne, offering modern Japanese cuisine and an extensive drink menu. The establishment boasts various private dining spaces, including an underground den for karaoke, a mezzanine with lantern lighting, a covered bamboo garden, a terrace, a ballroom, and a secret rooftop area exclusively available for private events or when the restaurant is fully booked.
Curtis and Lucas helped me put together a last minute 15 pax group booking at their amazing restaurant. Probably the most helpful and lovely service I've experienced in a while. We had 2 friends who were sharing a birthday, and they were kind enough to provide dessert, sparklers and a wonderful happy birthday chant to our group. All the food and drinks we ordered were extremely fresh, tasty and well priced. Our group could not stop acknowledging the amazing service and ambience of the restaurant! Make sure you pop this onto your list of restaurants to try as it has become one of my favourite spots, especially for a bigger group! Thank you!

The place is really cool, with lots of inspiration in Japan. Our waiter was very nice and always with a smile on his face. We ordered the takoyaki (ok for me, but I’m not a fan of octupus), the okonomyaki (different from the ones we had in Japan, and it seemed that it took a lot of potato), the soft shell crab baos (I think it was a bit of disappointing, it lacked flavour) and the volcano rolls (these ones were incredible! Highly recommend). For dessert the matcha creme bruleé, very nice and dense.
Beatriz S — Google review
We had dinner here on a busy Friday night and were impressed by the excellent service. It was attentive and efficient despite the crowd. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. For the price point, the dishes were mediocre at best. The only standout was the ebi mayo, everything else was quite underwhelming. On a brighter note, the cocktails were exceptional and truly the highlight of our evening.

What a cool spot! The food was spectacular, the service was great, and the vibes were awesome. Don’t be fooled by the small-looking front entrance—step inside and take a look. And make sure to bring your appetite for Japanese food
Anton S — Google review
Amazing customer service. Excellent presentation. The array we tried were all yummy. Teriyaki chicken had the right balance of flavours. Sashimi sampling is a must. Just two of the many great dishes we tried.

This restaurant has been our go-to restaurant for the past 2 Christmas’s. We love the vibe of the restaurant and variety in the menu. This year we enjoyed the $75 banquet of 8 dishes. It includes a great variety of dishes including seafood, meat & chicken and leaves you very full. My favourite dish was the lobster sushi and sashimi beef. I do wish the dessert was a bit light and not as rich in sweetness.
Anneliese — Google review
I had such a lovely experience here last night. We ordered the $95 banquet and we were absolutely stuffed by the end of it. The staff were lovely. The food quality was amazing and overall I had a great experience. The venue itself is really cool and I would highly recommend visiting this place! See you soon :)

Ichi Ni Nana Izakaya is truly a hidden gem in Fitzroy! Don't be fooled by the modest entrance - once inside, the space opens up into a surprisingly spacious venue with multiple areas including a stunning courtyard with a retractable glass ceiling. We opted for the set menu, which turned out to be an excellent decision. Every dish from start to finish was exceptional. The gyu tataki (beef tataki) was perfectly prepared - the meat was incredibly soft and tender, complemented by a refreshing sauce that balanced the richness beautifully. The tori teriyaki was another standout - the chicken was remarkably tender with a wonderful smoky flavour that showed their skill with the robata grill. What made the experience even better was the super friendly staff who were attentive and knowledgeable throughout our meal. They provided excellent service without rushing us, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The restaurant blends traditional Japanese cuisine with contemporary twists, and it's clear why it's considered one of the best Japanese dining spots in Melbourne. Whether you're a sushi lover or looking to explore more diverse Japanese dishes, Ichi Ni Nana delivers on all fronts. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable Japanese dining experience in Fitzroy!

Warabi is a high-end Japanese restaurant located in the W Hotel complex in Melbourne CBD. The restaurant offers an Omakase-style menu, where diners can experience a multi-course meal prepared by three chefs right in front of them. The intimate setting includes only a few tables and a long counter for 8-10 couples, allowing for an interactive dining experience with the chefs. The menu features premium ingredients and meticulous cooking techniques, with each dish explained in detail upon serving.
Warabi provided the most wonderful Valentine's day dinner I've ever had. The omakase held that night was fantastic. The stone wall is luminous and warm, really setting a wonderful atmosphere. You can really tell the experience of the chef from how much they feel like they need to hide the fish and there was no hiding. Just pure respect and knowledge of how to showcase the fish. Don't get me wrong there was definitely pizzazz ie Toro and Caviar. Special mentions to Akit and Lee who went out of their way to make the night super special. The drinks pairing were perfect and being able to have the bottles on the bar was super special. Service was immaculate. Attention to detail was amazing. Every drink had different glassware. Such a lovely touch Wonderful amazing place!! Highly recommended!!

Our latest favourite dining experience. All staff were wonderfully professional, elegant and graceful and ever attentive to our comfort. The dishes were prepared with skill and passion. It was effortless and natural and a feast not only for the pallet but also for the eyes. We’re definitely booking another evening here very soon.
Channa C — Google review
Tried Warabi Japanese restaurant today and was overall a bit disappointed—perhaps my expectations were too high. The restaurant has a nice environment with refined decor, but the dishes didn’t quite meet the expected standard. The service was very good. At over $200 per person, the value for money isn’t great. It feels like you’re paying more for the ambiance than the food itself. Might be worth a visit for photos or a one-time experience, but I probably wouldn’t return.
Celine — Google review
Absolutely incredible omakase experience at Warabi. This was my second time here, and I enjoyed it just as much — if not more — than the first. Every dish was beautifully presented, using the freshest ingredients and showcasing the best of seasonal flavours. The raw seafood was exceptionally fresh and delicately prepared — you can truly taste the quality in every bite. The chef was warm and engaging, creating an intimate and welcoming atmosphere while carefully explaining each course. It’s clear that a lot of thought and passion goes into every detail of the menu. I really enjoy this place — both the food and the overall experience are consistently excellent. If you’re looking for a refined yet relaxed Japanese dining experience in Melbourne, Warabi is a must-visit. Can’t wait to return again!
Vivian N — Google review
I recently had an omakase meal at Warabi. While the food itself was decent, the overall experience was seriously undermined by one issue: the restaurant charged $16 person for still water without any prior notice. This price is far beyond what one would normally expect, and had I been informed in advance, I would have opted for tap water or none at all. Transparency is especially important in fine dining. Failing to inform customers about such high charges feels misleading—borderline deceptive. This practice completely eroded my trust in the restaurant. I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it to friends.
Shouldgo雪糕 — Google review
We went to @warabimelbourne for Omakase and whilst we enjoyed each other's company, the food was not very special for the $$$. The restaurant was also lacking atmosphere. No sashimi course and only six nigiri in this Omakase menu! There are now so many options that you really need to offer remarkable flavours and produce or present something of a value proposition. $40 add on for one piece of otoro nigiri topped with caviar kinda gives you an idea. There were also many flavours that overpowered the main characters of certain dishes. The pork and mussel on sesame leaf with pickled radish was a good example where the delicate pickled radish would be the perfect balance for the fatty pork, however the proportion of radish just took over the flavour and the mussel was totally forgotten making its presence pointless. I would have expected to see a sashimi course here but that was also lacking. The nigiri was made with care, but the flavours were standard and the produce was not remarkable. The best mouthful for the night was the chutoro hand roll but that was it. The meal was nice enough to try but there are definitely better Omakase options in Melbourne.
Sam P — Google review
Treated ourselves to this chef’s hat omakase last week and ya girl was definitely impressed! The moment we walked in, we were instantly greeted by the most friendly staff and the venue itself is just drop dead gorgeous. This 13 course mid-week sushi experience is priced at $185pp and is situated at the chefs counter. Highlights for me include the deep fried shrimp wrapped in knafeh, charcoal seared A5 wagyu nigiri and their signature unagi hand roll. The deconstructed cheesecake also deserves a shout special out. I’m even inclined to say it’s one of the best desserts I’ve had in an omakase! Overall I thought each dish was very well executed including the pace at which they were served. Would happily come back here again for sure. Highly recommend checking this place out if you haven’t already.

Nobu is a modern and upscale restaurant that offers a fusion of traditional Japanese cuisine with South American flavors. Located in a sleek and contemporary setting with views of the river, Nobu at Crown provides an extensive menu ranging from lunchtime bento boxes to elaborate omakase experiences.
Nobu has always been one of our favourite restaurants, and our recent anniversary dinner there was no exception. From the moment we were seated, the service was attentive and seamless—the staff really know how to make a night feel special. While the initial greeting at the front desk wasn’t the warmest (we were met with a “how can I help you?” as though we weren’t meant to be there—even though we dine here regularly), we were still given a lovely table to celebrate our anniversary, which we appreciated. Our server was fantastic—always attentive without being overbearing and tuned in to what we needed throughout the evening. The food, as always, was phenomenal—flavours, presentation, everything was top-tier. Cocktails were spot on too. To top it all off, they surprised us with a small “Happy Anniversary” dessert, which was a thoughtful touch and made the evening feel truly memorable. Nobu never fails to deliver on quality, and we can’t wait to be back again soon!

I honestly cannot rate this place highly enough. From the food to the service, every detail was a 10/10. The flavours were incredible—each dish felt like a perfect infusion of taste and creativity. Our waiter, Jamie, went above and beyond, making the whole experience so much fun and truly memorable. We loved it so much that we went back again before heading out the following Saturday—that’s how good it was! The combination of beautiful food, exceptional service, and a warm atmosphere made this an outstanding experience. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for something truly special. Absolutely beautiful.

Took my wife here as I thought it would be something special to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary . It did NOT live up to expectations at all. We had the Melbourne Omakase option. Food was of high quality, great tastes, well presented and a nice variety. The servers who presented the meal gave a brief explanation of what we were served. Some servers seemed to rush this so a little hard to comprehend. We were expecting more dishes so when they said ‘your final dish’ we were extremely disappointed. Cost was over $470au so seriously would’ve like better value. Service in general was ok. Just seemed like everyone was in a rush with cutlery and other items being dropped. This tended to make the whole experience seem like they wanted you in and out as quickly as possible. The atmosphere from where we were seated was just ok. We were sat in a corner with a view to outside. Sadly my view consisted of people smoking and butting their cigarette on the ground near the windows. I found this a little off putting whilst trying to enjoy my meal. Sadly I can’t recommend Nobu as a return visit, for us it was a disappointment.

Our server was amazing. He helped us order and put together with the chef a truly delicious menu. He was so kind and explained every dish so well. Truly unforgettable experience. My family and I had an amazing time. Our favourite dish was the scampi, pictured below.

The restaurant as expected is very pretentious and looks to have a large number of expensive wine and sake choices, ideal for business paid meals. The staff were friendly enough, but fit the pretentious vibe too. We ordered cocktails and said yes to still water over sparkling water, so most of this review is for the $16.50 bottle of water we were charged for while tricking us into not going for tap water which they served us later. The cocktails were good enough, but not great and not worth the $30 per cocktail drink. It was all fine, I just can’t condone a restaurant needing to trick customers out of their money.

My partner and I visited for a date night on a Wednesday, expecting a smooth experience during a less busy time. Unfortunately, the evening was marked by disorganized and inconsistent service. We were attended to by four different staff members, which led to a complete lack of continuity in our service. Drink orders arrived five minutes apart, which was a minor inconvenience. However, the main courses were delivered with over a 30-minute gap. At one point, we had to ask if the second dish had been forgotten, only to be told it was "coming." This significant delay was puzzling, especially since the restaurant had plenty of empty tables. Also you'd expect when there's only two people at a table they would have their dish together. Furthermore, the presentation of the food was underwhelming. The garnish on the dish was mediocre at best, especially considering the high price point. I've had more visually appealing and well-executed dishes for less than half the cost.

Very disappointing meal. We had 8 dishes between us beautifully presented unfortunately only two were delicious. Black cod miso too raw for a cooked fish dish, Scollops with wasabi pepper is a very boring stir fry with 5 scollops, a gravy sauce and a plate full of mushie broccoli and hard carrots .Octopus sashimi was like chewing gum .ceviche had no flavour and the sticky pork was the biggest disappointment . The exceptions were - the whiting and salt n pepper calamari , they were exquisite and the staff and service excellent .

Wow such an elegant dining experience here. The attention to detail from the staff is next level and the dining area is intimate and beautiful. Service was fast despite it being busy and their menu is huge, we ordered a selection of different dishes including the salmon sashimi, tuna crispy rice, salt and pepper squid, teriyaki chicken, pork belly and creamy spicy prawns. The fish was so fresh and all of the meat was cooked to perfection. Obviously the prices are on the higher side but well worth it in my opinion if you’re looking for a quality dining experience and a high end feel. Definitely recommend pre booking as they get super busy so might take a while to get a table if you are planning to walk in. So grateful to have been able to come here for mine and my partners anniversary and I look forward to returning in the future. Thanks Nobu!

Great experience! Highly recommended to anyone reading this. Food was great, no complaints. Service was also outstanding with staff constantly taking empty dishes and refilling water. Chef was also very friendly and well experienced, knows what he’s doing.

We had an excellent experience at this teppanyaki restaurant! Our Korean waitress Choi was absolutely fantastic - friendly, attentive and always smiling. She constantly made sure our water glasses were filled, sauces topped up and even offered spoons when our bowls of rice arrived. Her positive attitude and attention to detail really made our night enjoyable. Thank you Choi for the outstanding service!

Great food with peaceful environment. Great customer service. Delicious food, cooked with perfection. Wagyu steak, seafood was cooked perfectly. Although we were already full we tried green tea mouse which was mouth watering. I think our chef name was sun, great young guy. Thanks mate for great food. Will return when I travel Melbourne next time.

Real score 4.2 out of 5. A very good restaurant. No time for deep impressions though. It was catch up time with old colleagues and the conversation was intense. We went for the seafood menu. It was excellent. Lovely scallops, excellent salmon. All superbly cooked right before our eyes.? I can’t recall a thing other than excellence. Good wine list as well with plenty of quality choice. Lovely surroundings here too and the service is warm and impressive. We had a terrific time and would happily return anytime.

Riverside Teppanyaki offers a vibrant and contemporary dining experience right by the water, specializing in modern Japanese cuisine designed for sharing. This restaurant is a haven for seafood enthusiasts, boasting an impressive à la carte menu that includes delicacies like lobster, sashimi, prawns, crab, oysters, and various fish options. What sets Riverside Teppanyaki apart is its remarkable teppan tables—some of the largest in Australia—where highly skilled chefs create not just meals but memorable culinary performances.
We had a 12 course set menu and loved every dish. The food was simple amazing! Nice music, staff and fantastic waterfront views to finish off a great dinner. Will be back!

Dined here for a work function, certainly was an enjoyable experience. Staff are no doubt hand-picked carefully as the waitstaff were all very friendly and attentive to when your dish was finished. The chef were entertaining - had good humour and welcomed videos and pictures of their workmanship on the grill. The variety in foods is appreciated - whether it was for seafood lovers, land meat lovers or vegetarians, they also catered for a colleague whom is vegan. It was lovely to see this restaurant is able to cater for all. My personal preference - would like more salad options as though the oil they cook with is light (not thick or heavy thank goodness!), there was a significant amount in each dish - it must be due to the type of grill they use. Foods are exemplary in flavours and not too sweet or salty. Recommended!

Great service. Food was generally good but some dishes were slightly salty. They only had two chefs to cook food for 5 groups with a few groups of more than two people, hard work!
Kandy Z — Google review
The food was amazing!! Loved everything we had. Will certainly be back to try a few more dishes. My only negative would be that the drinks are extremely expensive. $10.50 for a beer and a wine list with hardly had anything below $50.

Great location, well organized, food is good. The only complaint is the oil & smoke, everyone smelt like that afterwards. A portable barrier could be used when fry steak fat to avoid splash of hot oil.

There's usually a Groupon deal for the teppanyaki section, for a set of 8 or 9 courses, and those are definitely worth it if you'd like to have a little bit of everything with quality control and you don't want to wait long between courses. My favourite 2 dishes usually on there are the "flaming no1 special" - melts in your mouth crab salad under the most heavenly cream sauce & the "crepe Suzette" where the warm glazed crepe just blends with the delicious french vanilla gelato. We like to have the set menu up on our phone as we slowly eat our way through, to anticipate what comes next as you imagine and just as excited as they carefully present the dishes when they serve you. They're also very flexible with dietary requirements and happy to swap the dishes if needed. I wouldn't recommend the cocktails though. Will keep going back with the groupon deals.

Ramen restaurant
Japanese restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Melbourne on Little Collins Street, Little Ramen Bar offers a cozy and vibrant atmosphere for ramen enthusiasts. This compact Japanese noodle bar boasts a variety of unique broth and noodle combinations, including classic tonkatsu pork ramen, chicken and vegetable options like shoyu and shio ramens. The hot and generous portions of ramen provide an authentic taste of Japan without leaving the city.
🌟🍜 An Absolute Gem for Ramen Lovers in Melbourne! I recently visited Little Ramen Bar on Bourke St. and was blown away by the quality of food and the overall experience. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by the cozy and bustling atmosphere, reminiscent of a hidden ramen joint in Tokyo. The name is highly misleading! There's nothing little about this place! 💯🔥 I ordered the Shoyu Ramen (Tokyo Style Soy, Contains beansprout, black fungus, bamboo shoots, spring onion, a sheet of nori (seaweed), fish cake slice, a slice of onion, a sheet of nori (seaweed) & a slice of Chashu (pork) or Chicken & sesame seeds, $18.90). I ordered one with chashu and it was an absolute delight. The broth was rich and full of umami, perfectly capturing the essence of a traditional Shoyu ramen. It had a depth of flavor that was both comforting and satisfying, without being overly salty or heavy. The Chashu pork was simply divine—tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. It practically melted in my mouth, adding a lovely savory note that complemented the delicate noodles. The noodles themselves were cooked al dente, with a wonderful texture that soaked up the broth beautifully. Every bite was a perfect harmony of flavors and textures. The highlight of my meal, however, was undoubtedly the Housemade Gyoza Dumplings (vegetarian, 5 pieces, $9.90). I have tried gyoza at many places across Melbourne, but these were hands down the best I’ve ever had. The dumplings had a golden, crispy exterior that provided a satisfying crunch, giving way to a soft and flavorful filling. Despite being vegetarian, the filling was packed with taste, a perfect blend of fresh vegetables and herbs that made each bite a burst of flavor. The seasoning was spot on—not too overpowering but enough to keep me wanting more. The dipping sauce added just the right touch of tanginess, enhancing the overall taste. I was genuinely surprised by how good they were, and I couldn’t stop raving about them long after my meal. It’s rare to find vegetarian gyoza that are this delicious, and I can confidently say they are a must-try for anyone visiting Little Ramen Bar. Although it arrived after the ramen had been served, the waiting was absolutely worth it. The staff recommended me to try their pork gyoza next time, and you bet that I will! 👏🍲 In addition to the amazing food, the overall dining experience at Little Ramen Bar was fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that I had everything I needed throughout my meal. The service was prompt, even though the place was quite busy, reflecting the popularity of the restaurant. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, with the perfect mix of a lively atmosphere and intimate seating. It truly felt like a little slice of Japan in the heart of Melbourne. Whether you’re a ramen enthusiast or just looking for a delicious meal, I highly recommend stopping by Little Ramen Bar. With its top-notch ramen, outstanding gyoza, and warm, welcoming service, this place has quickly become one of my favorite spots in the city. I can’t wait to come back and try more items from their menu! Dishes ordered: 🍜 - Shoyu Ramen (pork, 1 bowl), $18.90 🥟 - Housemade Gyoza Dumplings (5 pieces), $9.90

Really enjoyed the atmosphere here. The black garlic ramen base was a perfect match for a 3c evening in Melbourne. The wine was reasonably priced and quite decent. I arrived about an hour before closure, so service felt a bit rushed which is completely understandable and fine. Will definitely come back!

Been here twice and always ordered the vegetarian ramen, which was delicious! I think is a good quality for the price and the size as well, so makes it an all together great choice for a lunch.

Popped in here for a quick bite before a blood donation. I was greeted with a polite smile and curtsey, show my table for for, well presented & clean. I quickly ordered as i was on a tight schedule, and to my surprise it's wasn't no long then three minutes before the food arrived at the table. Now, I ordered the shoyu ramen with extra meat & egg. The ramen was ok and the extras "professional toppings" probably wernt worth what i paid. As a side dish I also order the wok fried rice, and i was in need of extra calories, the rice came out very bland & claggy. It had ants odd flavour, im not sure if it was the vegetables in with it or not? Over all it was convenient for me on this occasion but im not sure I'd return.

Cozy. The management team strives to provide the most comfortable place your meal time =) It's a little gem tucked in an alley in the city. Staffs are friendly and professional, always ready to help with your food inquiries. Price is reasonable in comparison to other similar places around the city. Foods are great. Served warm and super tasty. The ramen broth, specially the tantan ramen, is superb and addictive. There are many additionals you can add to your preference. The portion isn't small either. Please come and try

Came here with colleagues for ramen. Definitely not the most authentic ramen I’ve had. Tried the spicy miso ramen - hot. Only 2 char siu pieces not that tender and lots of cabbage! Not tradition with the bean sprouts, egg and seaweed. Maybe I ordered wrong but I would assume the standard ramen would have the works! Broth wasn’t as rich and the ramen noodles was a bit hard. Probably wouldn’t go back for it. Service is good though!

ORDERED: 🍜 Spicy miso ramen (mild): mixed vegetables (carrot, onion, cabbage), minced pork, chashu (pork), spring onion & sesame seeds ($18.90) + 🥚 egg $2.50 I paid $21.45 here which included the 1% Visa surcharge. REVIEW: 🤩 The quantity element is strong here at Little Ramen Bar. An incredibly filling portion for under <$20, filled with noodles and vegetables, it deviates from your other ramen offerings from the city. The carrots were a little bit strange for me. 🌶 For me, the spiciness and quantity stood out. It was a really good amount of spice, where the burn lingered in my mouth. However, my personal favourite are the Sara Craft ramen/Mensho ramen in the CBD because I'm not one for quantity > quality. ❌ Noodles were a too soft for my liking, and the ingredients (e.g. chashu) didn't stand out. Neither the egg which I think could've been more umami. Nonetheless, the environment was nice and plenty of space to walk in. Service was friendly! 🌻

Nestled on the vibrant Little Bourke Street, Bincho Boss is a contemporary izakaya-inspired restaurant that beautifully marries traditional Japanese sharing plates with an impressive selection of beers and spirits. While it may not replicate the cozy charm of Japan's alleyway izakayas, its lively ambiance and innovative fusion cocktails create an inviting space to unwind.
We had the Bincho set menu and loved every course — beautifully presented and full of flavour. I have a seafood allergy, and the staff were incredibly accommodating with a custom non-seafood version that still felt complete and delicious. Great service, thoughtful details, and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend for a special night out!

From the food to the service, everything was absolutely top-notch. We came here to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and it was such an amazing experience. The staff were warm and attentive throughout, and the cocktails were super duper good!! Definitely some of the best we’ve had in a while! By the end of our meal, they even surprised us with a lovely pudding for my boyfriend, which we didn’t expect. Such a thoughtful touch and a perfect way to end the night. Highly recommend!

Cozy little spot tucked away in the city. The $9.90 cocktails and small plates were a pleasant surprise — great value without sacrificing taste. The soy milk hot pot was rich and comforting, perfect for a cold night. Omakase for two was fresh, beautifully plated, and a great way to sample a bit of everything. Scallops were a standout. Wagyu was okay, but everything else made up for it. Chill vibe, friendly staff — a great place to catch up with a friend over good food and better gossip.

My bestie and I were looking for a new place for late brunch in the CBD then we saw the B.B’s beautiful shop ( eccentric pink lighting and cool and clean shop ) And Also the $49,99 special Poster at their window. Which is … (Reman set plus 2 sides ) and bar menu snacks- - $10 dollars. Then we went in and a lovely gentleman was very friendly when i ask about the special offer. He responded me very nicely and well explained……. But I don’t really remember now coz my memory is full loaded the B.B yummy foods at that time . 😛😝🤪 - can’t really pay much attention when i am starving. Sorry Also … please check the BBs offical website in regard to the price of special set . As …. Numbers or figures are not my friend…. Aw ….. 🙂‍↕️😜😝。 Anyways we order 1 Japness Beer and sider. Also 2 bar snacks - crispy fish skin ( deep fried) and Karara chicken. The chick is good but the fish skin is a bit …. Hard then crispy ( the texture ) . Then aw …. I remember something …. The gentleman told us that we can order the special set early …. It was supposed to start at xxxx time . But the kitchen said …. Okay 👍 to order a Little bit early . 😍😉 thanks ( 🙏 it’s very good and understanding of customer service and what we want . Sometimes the Customer SERVICE is very important and also “ my heart to your heart —- service philosophy is very important to ME . For example like when I go to window shopping or wasting time or waiting my some not so on time friends then I go to the shops just to Look look but I probably purchase something when the sales associate is extremely friendly and they engaging me or very impressed me . 😝🤩 u know…… ( p.s - i am not a “ shoppholic “ . But a little of an alcoholic 😝🤪😋 or vodka B…. Ha ha Anyway we didn’t order the special ramen deal coz they only got the veg or the chick 🍜ramen deal . Then we order the big Prawns ramen. $50 ( price may not be accurate or up to date. ( please kindly refers to the official website for more details and information. ) thanks The Reman was quite interesting…. It wasn’t what we expected those soupp… it was saucy… kind of like a carbonara with orange fish eggs …. Or I don’t know …. But the grant Prawn is fresh . It was a good experience . One last thing is , if u are short then the tall bar chair may not be comfortable for you and definitely not my kinda of chair 🪑 lol … Thanks for reading my comment. Have an awesome dayssssss . Love. I was so impressed by this spot! We made a last minute reso so I didn’t know what to expect, but the food and service was fantastic. We had an exceptional dining experience at Bincho Boss. A group of five of us dined in, four chose the Bincho Set Menu and one went with the Vegetarian Set. Both menus were incredibly well-curated, taking us through a progression of beautifully presented dishes, each bursting with flavour, umami, texture, and balance. The vibe inside is modern yet warm, with a moody, intimate atmosphere that feels like a stylish Tokyo izakaya tucked into Melbourne’s laneways. Service was outstanding from start to finish, attentive, friendly, and perfectly timed. Every course felt deliberate and thoughtful, from the delicate starters to the bold grilled dishes and elegant mains. Even the vegetarian options were full of depth and creativity. Bincho Boss hit the mark in every way. As the Japanese say, “kaishin no ichigeki” – a critical hit. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended for lovers of elevated Japanese dining.

Akaiito Restaurant, located on Flinders Lane, offers a unique blend of formal and casual Japanese dining in a low-lit, minimalist setting. The contemporary menu features luxurious ingredients like ootoro tartare and grilled glacier 51 toothfish prepared with expert precision. The main room is adorned with dark hues and black marble, complemented by a dramatic blood red sculpture symbolizing the thread of fate connecting destined lovers.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had! Was very skeptical about the negative reviews…however my partner and I ended up having an absolutely incredible anniversary dinner there! From the interior to food presentation, pure work of art. We had the set menu. From the nibbles upon arrival, to entrees, to mains and to desserts, we enjoyed every single dish that was presented. The service was outstanding, delivering high standards. Was such a memorable night and I would love to go back again!🥺❤️

With the re-opening of Akaiito, this popular fine dining spot has released an incredible new seasonal Spring omakase at your table dining experience and it is worth every dollar. We tried: 🦐 Amai Ebi 🥩 Wagyu Tartare 🐟 New Zealand King Salmon 🐟 Yellow Tail King Fish 🐠 Patagonian Toothfish 🥚 Chawanmushi 🦐 Queensland King Prawn 🍞 Miso Brioche 🍋 Lemon Granita 🥩 Wagyu Eye Fillet 🍨 Dessert It’s honestly been quite a while since I’ve had a fine dining experience that was this good - every dish was really well executed and so creative. The amai ebi had prawn sashimi on a sourdough bed - the prawn had a subtle sweetness to it and was really fresh. The wagyu tartare was also fresh and served on a yummy potato gratin. Loved the beetroot waffle, which was an absolute work of art, with smoked salmon pate inside - one of my faves! The kingfish was served with a zesty truffle ponzu sauce, while the toothfish was insanely buttery and tender. Their chawanmushi had a subtle truffle flavour and was really silky, while the King prawn had a fragrant smokey charred flavour to it and was served on a bed of risotto. The miso brioche absolutely slapped and was insanely soft and fluffy with an umami miso butter. We got lemon granita as a palette cleanser and the citrus was really refreshing. Their wagyu streak was cooked perfectly medium rare and was very tender and juicy and we finished off with a yummy nashi pear and guava sorbet dessert. Everything in this menu was so enjoyable, highly recommend!

We just had the most incredible 10-course Spring Omakase at your table at Akaiito and honestly… wow, 10/10 🔥😍 This is proper fine dining done perfectly. Every dish is a little masterpiece. Highlights? The prawn risotto that lasted like lobster, the eye fillet so tender and juicy, the hand-cut steak tartare, and… oh my, the decadent caviar truffle French fries - absolutely next level. Everything’s made for sharing, which makes the whole experience even more fun. The vibe is moody, stylish, and the staff are genuinely so warm - refined without ever feeling pretentious. And the best part? Akaiito now has an à la carte menu, so all these amazing dishes are available on their own. Can’t wait to go back already!

Sublime! This meal was a thing of beauty. Delicious, decadent food with world class quality ingredients. The fillet Mignon was so tender, juicy and bursting with flavour. The best part, all the dishes are made for sharing. The staff were warm, genuine and made the whole experience feel effortless and welcoming. It’s refined without ever feeling pretentious. Can’t wait to return.

I was hesitant to visit this place after seeing so many negative reviews on Google, but curiosity got the best of me. Since I had a great experience at Ototo, I decided to give this sister restaurant a try. And wow—this place is an absolute hidden gem! They offer a set menu with 11 courses, and each dish was carefully crafted and beautifully presented. The chef personally introduced every dish, and the quality of ingredients was top-notch. The overall dining experience was simply amazing. I actually wasn’t feeling well that day—my stomach was upset, and I had no appetite. But the fourth course completely changed everything! A refreshing combination of fresh sashimi, crunchy pickled radish, and yuzu dressing somehow revived my appetite instantly. It was like magic! ✨ Must-try dishes: 🍞 Miso Brioche – Super soft and fluffy with a lovely umami flavor. So addictive! 🦐 Prawn Risotto – Tastes like the ocean in a bowl. So fresh and flavorful, with perfectly bouncy prawns! 🦪 Fresh Oysters ($2 each!) – Huge, fresh, and absolutely worth it! 🥩 Beef Short Rib (add-on)– MUST TRY! The most tender beef short rib I’ve ever had. I thought Ototo’s version was already great, but this one took it to another level. ( If you've been hesitant to try this place because of the reviews, trust me—go for it! You might just discover an unexpected treasure like I did. Will definitely be back!

This is the first bad review I’ve left in my life but felt morally obligated. Worst dining experience of my life. My partner & I had the 10 course menu & waited 30-40 minutes between courses; by the 7th course we requested to pay the bill & go home as we had no desire to wait for any further courses. They blamed the slowness on the fact that I had requested a vegan menu (with notification 48 hours in advance) but never experienced this elsewhere & also wouldn’t have booked if they’d let me know it will be 30-40 minutes between courses for the vegan menu. Food was incredibly average & bland, only the first course was decent. One of my courses was what seemed and tasted like store bought bread? My partner got the normal menu & also found the food disappointing. Service was terrible - sometimes the plates would just be plopped on the table without even telling us what they were 😂 The staff seemed miserable. My main arrived cold. Dreary atmosphere with dirty bathrooms smelling of urine. Nothing even close to a fine dining experience. Don’t be fooled by the beautiful pictures - THIS IS NOT FINE DINING.

We passed by this road and decide to try since no queue. We come here on 2.30 pm and just realize they are closed in 3 pm. We order and eat in hurry and also the staff remind us their closing time. We try their top michelin selected toripaitan ramen with very thick broth. At the 1-3 first bite, it tasted really delicious but after it I less enjoyed it due to the soup was too heavy for me. The spicy ramen one have a bit taste like mala noodle. I personally recommend their shio ramen and the wavy noodle itself because its light and clear soup and the noodle so chewy. Best served if you also order their crispy fried enoki.
Mellisia — Google review
I visited Mensho Tokyo Ramen in Sydney around 7:00 PM. The place was quite busy and I had to wait about 20 minutes to get a seat. The staff were very warm, friendly, and attentive — their service really helped make the wait more pleasant. I tried the Michelin-style (signature) ramen, matcha ramen, and spicy lamb ramen. The signature ramen had a creamy, rich broth with tender slices of meat and crunchy toppings. The matcha bowl stood out — the tea flavor was subtle and elegant, harmonizing well with the broth. The spicy lamb version warmed me up with a bold kick, and the lamb was soft and nicely seasoned. Overall the food was creative, portions were generous, and the restaurant ambience felt modern and clean. On the downside, prices are on the higher side, and some broths (especially the creamy ones) can feel heavy if you finish the whole bowl.
PHU N — Google review
The two ramen dishes we ordered, along with the snacks, were all very delicious. The ramen noodles had the perfect texture — not too soft or too firm. The broth was incredibly flavorful and complex, with layers of creaminess, mushroom notes, and even a hint of citrus toward the end. It was a brilliant combination. I really enjoyed the meal and left completely satisfied. I’ll definitely come back again and recommend it to my friends.
Elise W — Google review
I liked the space, the service, the atmosphere and location. I wish my spicy lamb ramen (which I highly recommend) contained some sliced meat pieces instead of a mince style only. Also the ramen used looked close to Hokkien noodles rather than Japanese ramen. This is only my personal opinion though. My partner got the duck matcha ramen which I thought was more gimmicky and I didn't like the taste so much

- Perfect dish for a cold winter day - Get the Michelin Selected Toripaitan Ramen. Soup is so flavorful and thick. Noodle is also thick and delicious.
Andil O — Google review
Foods: Quite special, but it retains less of the original essence of Ramen from Japan. Price: Quite high. People: Friendly Vietnamese. Anyway, you can try another way of ramen here :)
Au T — Google review
We visited this place three times before but always encountered long lines we didn’t want to wait in. On our fourth attempt, we arrived right at opening time around 5 PM and were able to get a table easily. The ramen was excellent—the broth had a rich, umami flavor that tasted like it might be made with mushrooms. Overall, a great food experience.

Japanese restaurant
KOMEYUI Melbourne is a sophisticated dining spot that offers traditional Japanese cuisine in a modern setting. The restaurant has recently moved to a sleek space in South Melbourne, featuring a stunning 12-seat counter where guests can enjoy an exquisite eight-course omakase menu or opt for the à la carte menu.
Komeyui went above and beyond all expectations! The atmosphere was beautiful, the service absolutely superb, and we loved every single moment of our visit. The chirashi and sashimi were the freshest we’ve ever had -every bite was delicate yet filling, even though the portions weren’t huge. What really touched us most was the kindness and warmth of the staff, who made our anniversary celebration feel so special. We felt genuinely cared for, and that made the experience unforgettable. We’ll definitely be coming back again, and will be recommending Komeyui to everyone around! ありがとうございます!
Sonia H — Google review
Had the omakase at table. The nigiri was most definitely the highlight, the fish was excellent, any seasoning was minimal but complemented the fish perfectly. However unfortunately I did find the rest of the dishes underwhelming. The portions were tiny, though I should have expected this due to it being an omakase menu. I did substitute my Wagyu sirloin for toothfish - but the Wagyu dish similarly was very small- like 4-5 slices of beef accompanied by 3 small potato wedges. The toothfish had a lovely texture and flavour. I felt that the flavour of the fried nori didn't really work- I found it bland, almost stale. The initial sashimi was good but not outstanding, and I felt the prawn could have been more tender. I enjoyed the dessert, I think the Vegemite was fun and paired with the icecream well - but again, it didn't feel substantial. Ultimately, the accompanying dishes felt like somewhat disappointing support characters to the nigiri. Perhaps other season's menus are better. I'm not sure if I will visit again, but if I did, I'd consider ordering ala carte instead, with a focus on the nigiri/sushi. The restaurant setting and service was excellent.

We came to Komeyui to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and we were well looked after. The service was absolutely amazing. The waitress who served us was always around when we needed to order drinks, food, and when the water needed to be topped up. The food was so so good. Would highly recommend the Wagyu for the main. The sake creme brulee was also a standout for me. The other thing I was very impressed about is the complimentary cake they provided with a birthday candle which really goes a long way. Really appreciated the gesture, the good service and most importantly, the food. Thank you Komeyui for looking after us. We will definitely be back.
Kit L — Google review
Love the food and wonderful service here. We had the omakase at the table, and ordered the additional nigiri. The sashimi was well prepared and fresh, the foie gras chawamushi was luxurious and pairs well with the Nori crunch. The char grilled Wagyu was very nice, not a stand out, but still very nice and rich. The nigiri were all delicious, really good standouts in both the first nigiri and the second, my personal favourites were the hotate with foie gras, and the ebi with ikura. The desert was a crunchy ice cream monaka sandwich, that had a Vegemite caramel and a hint/schmear of boysenberry - so yummy. Will definitely be back, and will opt to sit at the sushi bar next time.
Leonard K — Google review
Celebrated my birthday here with a lunch, and it was truly amazing! We ordered a la carte and would highly recommend it as we definitely over-ordered for 2 people and were super full to the brim, so the price was absolutely justified. Service was excellent and they even gave a small cake with a candle. Would definitely come again!
Sarah L — Google review
Came here for a birthday dinner and left with mixed feelings — some dishes really stood out while others felt more standard for the price point. The highlight for me was definitely the hand-cut sushi rolls, especially the spicy tuna roll — clean, fresh flavours with a satisfying texture and a good balance between rice, filling, and seaweed. The sashimi platter on the other hand, while fresh, didn’t feel particularly special compared to other omakase-style spots around Melbourne. Still solid, but not something I’d come back for specifically. Among the cooked dishes, the grilled kingfish collar was excellent — slightly charred on the outside, beautifully fatty and tender inside. You do have to work a little to get the meat off the bone, but the flavour payoff makes it worthwhile. The udon was also a pleasant surprise — the broth had a slightly unusual flavour profile but one I really enjoyed; light yet full-bodied enough to round out the meal. The steak was nothing special, did get the cheapest cut because didn’t want to spurge for steak at a Japanese joint but it was cooked well just got it to have some red meat. The beef tartare with mango didn’t quite work for me either; the sweetness from the mango overpowered the natural beef flavour. I’d have preferred a more savoury, vinegar-based balance like a tataki-style preparation. The tempura was simple but well-executed — crisp batter, clean oil, and good texture retention. The chawanmushi was standard but enjoyable, silky smooth with a mild foie gras note that gave it a bit of richness. Oysters were decent, fresh but nothing particularly unique, and the ox tongue leaned a bit too chewy for my taste. Overall, Komeyui delivers a good range of Japanese dishes that are clean and technically sound, but not every dish hits a memorable note. Some excellent moments (that kingfish collar and spicy tuna roll) but others were just okay for what you pay.

excellent food quality and beautiful presentation. they serve one of the best meat and fish in Melbourne. good ambience and interior. i also appreciate how the staffs and chefs cater to personal dietary restrictions or allergies. one thing to improve would be the staffs; the chefs look exhausted, i expected more interaction during the omakase experience. overall it was a nice visit, would come again :)

I made a reservation and visited this restaurant to celebrate my partner's birthday. The atmosphere was wonderful, and the food was, of course, delicious. The staff's attentiveness and hospitality were truly exceptional, and I was completely satisfied. They even prepared a small surprise birthday cake for my partner, which was a lovely touch. Both the cuisine and the staff here are highly professional. I would definitely love to visit again!

Teddy Cafe, nestled in Highpoint, is a charming spot that beckons food enthusiasts and teddy bear lovers alike. This delightful cafe specializes in freshly baked Japanese-style bread and offers an array of scrumptious cakes, including their renowned Teddy Honey Toast. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with friendly staff ready to serve you. Guests rave about the light and fluffy cakes made right before your eyes; the Japanese cheesecake topped with berries or pistachios is particularly noteworthy.
Friendly staff. Good seating area. We bought some cakes before for takeaway. Real tasty and not too sweet. Flavourful. The matcha strawberry cake we ate there taste like real matcha. Matcha latte are made of pure matcha powder. And not what I called “premix matcha” which does contain sugar already. I prefer my matcha very very strong🦾 and might as well add with sugar with that. Coffee👍🏻. Black sesame latte are good. Be back again soon. Today 16.05.2025 had cakes to eat and drink. I recommend this pure matcha latte. Dont mind if they make this matcha much more stronger for me. Next time I’ll ask a request if they can make me one.

This is our family treat, the cakes are so good, really light, soft and fresh - you can them making the cakes and breads in the cafe. The Japanese style cheesecake particularly the berry and pistachio is just beyond perfection. The price is worth it and my son loves the teddy bear 'latte art' in the top of the hot chocolate. His favourite cake is the Mango and Pandan layered sponge cake. Great little celebration cakes to take home. I hope it grows in popularity and is with us for a long time.

Lovely little dessert cafe! The square desserts are worth the value. Great taste of sweetness and flavour! Strawberry is absolutely my favourite! Staff were nice and enthusiastic!

My wife and daughter went for a morning treat on Saturday. The Macha latte was cold. Plain toast didn't offer butter or jam. The honey toast ordered was not fresh. Hot chocolate had no teddybear decoration or marshmallows, and my daughter even said not to go back. Hopefully, they can do better. Staff just seemed ignorant.

iced matcha latte was just milk. it was very pale and had no taste, for $9 it was VERY small. the food tasted like it was defrosted and unfortunately had stomach aches after

What a delightful find! After wandering around Highpoint I stumbled across Teddy cafe and took a closer look at the cakes - I'm glad I did! Friendly service with a smile plus unique, tasty cakes. The coffee is nice too. I enjoyed a piece of the Autumn Chestnut sponge cake. Only sad part is I live in Lilydale so I can't be a regular! ;)
Maryanne W — Google review
🥐 We ordered a matcha cube croissant and a Japanese butter roll around 12PM. I had high hopes for both because they looked amazing, but unfortunately, the croissant was a bit dry. The filling was nice, though the matcha cream on top hadn’t blended well, I could still see some clumps. The butter roll was slightly dry on the outside and a little burnt at the bottom. It didn’t affect the taste too much, but it was still a bit disappointing given how beautiful it looked😭 🍵 I got a regular iced matcha latte, and sadly it was quite bland. The flavour was grassy and the colour very pale...this was one of the main reasons I gave 4 stars 🥲 I really hope they improve the matcha! The staff member was kind, but seemed a bit rushed 🥹
Alicia T — Google review
Cakes and dessert are great however the matcha latte was quite disappointing, wouldn’t recommend it as it tasted bitter and oxidised. Noticed the container the cafe used to store the matcha was left open with a spoon in it which explained the taste.

Nestled in the charming Hobsons Bay City of Victoria, Yamabuki Japanese Restaurant is a delightful culinary gem that promises an authentic taste of Japan. Located on Ferguson Street, this eatery offers a diverse menu that caters to all palates, making it perfect for families and food enthusiasts alike. Diners rave about the Miso soup and crispy tempura featuring a medley of prawns and vegetables—ideal for introducing younger guests to Japanese cuisine.
Really delicious veggie and vegan options! I had the udon noodle soup and agedashi tofu. Lovely service and nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend. ☺️

We had the Japanese Banquet last night. The Miso soup was our favourite! The tempura was crispy and had a variety of prawn and vegetables. All dishes were a good introduction to Japanese food for my 12 year old daughter. So much food! We were allowed to take away the last couple of dishes that we could not fit in, but had to put this in containers ourselves. Friendly staff, very attentive and very prompt service. Highly recommend a visit. Not the best ambience, but the food was very good.

Great Atmosphere. Restaurant looked very authentic and had a good selection of dishes and drinks. The clam soup was good and sashimi was generous. Well priced as well! Would come again!

Such a poor excuse for teriyaki chicken 😭 I’ve recently moved to the west side of melbourne and am yet to find a teriyaki chicken bowl to replace my old local. The chicken was dry with next to no sauce, the steamed veg was naturally plain and the rice had the smallest smidge of sauce at the bottom that only made me more sad as it would have made the dish x10 better if there were more of it. I feel like Manu - “where is the sauce!!” The service was good and the price was average, reflective of the dish. I could have made better at home though..

We had a great meal tonight, quality ingredients and attentive service. Gyoza was lovely, fresh tuna sashimi was well presented and tasty. Both mains were generous and well prepared.

First impressions always last and to have the door opened by the staff was the perfect start to our evening. Having been seated we ordered through the QR code and the service began. Food arrived quickly and we were very impressed with the quality and presentation of the food. The menu had lots of choice. Iam totally taken by this place and will definitely be returning again soon. Great job 👏

Saikyo is an easy-to-find all-you-can-eat spot in Williamstown, even for me who’s coming from the city by PT, the place was accessible and is about 14 minute walk from the train station. Everything is made to order are are of great quality. The sushi platter is a must-try, although the salmon sashimi is sliced quite thin, the sushi itself is flavourful and satisfying. We also tried their mocktails, and I loved how the flavours stood out without being overly sweet. One of my favorites was the beef cubes, but the desserts are equally impressive. Be sure to save room for treats like banana fritters, mango sticky rice, and taiyaki, the quality and taste are spot on! Edit: Forgot to mention that this spot is very kid-friendly. We went there on a weekend with 2 kids and there were quite a few tables with their kids too. A number of dishes are quite appealing to kids

A cute little Japanese restaurant offering amazing food. I was impressed with their nigiri. The fish to rice ratio was perfect. Soba salad was refreshing. They even had dehydrated lemons for the drinks. The curry was not bad but could do a bit more spice. The prices are super reasonable too. Overall, a pleasant place to eat if you don’t want to travel far.

The stand out is the nigiri! Some of the best I’ve had in Melbourne. Don’t be fooled by how small and local this place is. The beef ramen is very satisfying. Noodles are just right and the beef is very tender. I’m definitely coming back here again. What a hidden gem in the west! A Lovely Japanese restaurant. Make sure you book if around dinner time as it gets busy. We tried the pork gyoza which was savoury and crispy bottom with a dipping sauce. Also the terriyaki chicken rice dish which had the lovely terriyaki sauce thru the rice as well. Lastly the slow cooked beef ramen which was so lovely. Especially on a cold winter day. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Lovely little Japanese restaurant at Borrack Square in Altona. Quick, friendly service. The food was good. I got the Poke Don. Serving size was just right for me as I got a quick takeaway meal on my lunch break. I wish there had been a little more avocado. They give you a generous serving of the marinated salmon and tuna, along with salad leaves, ginger and edamame. The rice comes in the form of Onigiri which I found cute and very filling.

Dear V Noodles, I am writing to raise a serious concern regarding a recent experience I had with one of your meals. While eating, I found a small stone pebble in my dish that nearly chipped my tooth. This was not only unpleasant but also potentially dangerous. I’m unsure how such an object ended up in the food, whether it fell on the floor or was in the ingredients, but it clearly indicates a lapse in food preparation and quality control. More care must be taken to ensure nothing like this ends up in someone’s meal again. I hope this matter will be taken seriously and that steps will be put in place to prevent it from happening in the future. I’d appreciate a response and some clarity on how this will be addressed. Sincerely, Andrew

You'll know you'll be getting an authentic flavour when you see a Chinese man with flexible wrist wok tossing your noodles. I ordered the Fried kway teow and it was full of flavour. Great sushi and very good prices. The salmon was fresh and the chicken was really nice. Definitely will be returning here.

The sushi is okay but overpriced. They now charge $3.90 for vegetarian hand rolls, whereas in the city, I can get better vegetarian options for $3.50 from Sushi Hub. Also, they use too much plastic packaging and soy sauce, leading to littered soy bottles outside Coles shopping centre and Williamstown library. I still prefer this to the prepackaged sushi in Coles, though.

Warning : Inedible We ordered take away from here, teriyaki chicken hot box and some bento. The sushi in the Benton was totally off, the rice was so mushy and old, fish was off, we threw away immediately. Teriyaki chicken , terrible, they taste nothing like teriyaki, very very salty and all I can taste is salt or maybe they poured a whole bottle of soy sauce. Teriyaki sauce is made of soy sauce, mirin, sugar and sake. And they put so much mayo on top of it. It's not just some Asian food in white town to cater for Caucasian flavors. It's so disappointing and we could not finish them at all. Please, if you run a restaurant, can you eat those stuff yourself ? Do you have standard? Please make something that you are proud of.
Jessica L — Google review
"This is the worst sushi I've ever tasted in my life. The rice wasn't cooked properly, and I believe that should be the most crucial aspect. The ingredients were quite poor; I definitely wouldn't come back to this place unless they change the chef."

Listen up, my fellow disillusioned seekers of culinary satisfaction. If you're in the market for a cheery smile and warm customer service, let me assure you, this joint is not your cup of noir-infused tea. The mature lady, or should I say, the Queen of Misery, who had the audacity to take my order, was a walking embodiment of impatience, rudeness, and a general disdain for the human race. Now, hold on to your fedoras, folks, because we're about to dive into the twisted tale of four innocent sushi rolls turned into a full-blown Shakespearean tragedy. What should have been a simple transaction morphed into a dark and twisted drama, a performance worthy of an Oscar for Best Overacting in a Fast Food Establishment. Never before have I witnessed such a colossal display of unnecessary histrionics over a handful of rice and fish. Mark my words, dear readers, this encounter has left an indelible mark on my culinary psyche. Never again shall I subject myself to the torments of this wretched place. The mere thought of it sends shivers down my spine, like a cold breeze whispering secrets in a back alley. No, my friends, if you seek a tale of sushi bliss, look elsewhere. The path to satisfaction lies far, far away from the clutches of this particular den of culinary despair.
