27/12/24 - 4.5 stars Very lowkey and humble bakery in central Onomichi. Everything is clearly made by hand and in house with a focus on quality. Each pastry is made carefully yet is reasonably priced. Staff are lovely and helpful even for tourists. Almond croissant Flavour: S, 8/10. Lacking a bit of consistency as some areas are a bit plain but otherwise good Texture: S+, 8.5/10. Pretty good in terms of crunchiness snd flakiness Value: A, 7/10. ~¥450 Wild boar sausage pizza: S, 8/10. Pretty tasty toppings with crispy base. Probably would be better if warm 4 cheese bagel: A, 7/10. Something a bit sweet in the middle? Otherwise bagel was decently soft and chewy Matcha and red bean bagel: S, 8/10. Really liked the red bean but the matcha was a little lost. Again probably would be better warm Pizza bagel: S, 8/10.

Best Bagels Outside NYC. While walking from the station I noticed this bakery. After two weeks in Japan I was craving bread. As a New Yorker living in Europe, I'm skeptical of bagels. But these were amazing. The perfect level of chew and bite. The salted butter bagel and the sesame onion bagel were fantastic. The focaccia was alright. I'd skip the egg salad pastry.

Stumbled on this bakery on a rainy afternoon in Onomichi and the three items purchased were heavenly!!! Fried curry balls with delicious homemade curry and veggies inside, a spectacular red bean paste and butter roll was a revelation and the chocolate stuffed chocolate bagel was insanely delicious, chewy like an perfect brownie and rich a chocolatety perfection! Sometimes I dream about their bagels 🥯🥹 they were too damn delicious! I wasn’t able to try as much as I would have loved to, so I can’t wait to come back! Very cute small bakery shop, friendly cashiers and the baked goods look amazing.

Probably the smallest bakery ever—only one person can fit inside at a time! But don’t let the size fool you—the buns are fantastic. Highly recommend getting the thin pizza and anything with cheese—both were super satisfying. There’s a little chair outside where you can sit and enjoy your treats, which made for a perfect snack break. A quirky, delicious stop that’s full of charm!

Very cute bakery with great food! I am so glad we went out exploring and found this little gem. The baked goods are on par with some of the best I've had around the world. Finding it is an adventure worth having. The cats lounging around the alleys on the way add to the ambiance. We plan to visit again before we leave 😊

A very cute and adorable place near the bottom of the hill. The place is v v tiny and the bread sizes match the shop size. The savoury pastry was crispy and pretty good. The apple custard bread was v average. A bit pricey given that the breads are bite sized.

This place is super cute, only one person can stand inside and look at the goods. You can also see how they prepare the doughs. They even make their own puff pastry which is lot of work! I tried one croissant I thinn with nuts and it was fresh, flaky and so crunchy outside, very good quality. The other sweet bread I tried also very nice. I liked that the outside was crunchy im both cases and not soft/chewy as often in Japan. they also had cute homemsde cookies. Very fair prices and nice staff. Next to it there is a small garden with 2 tables where you can sit down.

Really nice place to sit and relax indoor and outdoor. I came later during the day so the options were limited. I got the lemon cake which was very nice. They also sell flowers, jams and other snacks. There is also outdoor seating around the corner overlooking the water which was very nice.

I tried a cinnamon sweet potato scone and a slice of blueberry cake, and they were both so delicious! And the shop is cute, selling lots of local and slightly different products.

We had a quick bite here before starting the Shimanami Kaido and they had a good selection of pastries. We had the egg sandwich and some type of chocolate cranberry bread and it was honestly of of the best ones I ever had. You can get a coffee at the cafe in front and have your bread there.
