Brewpub

Restaurant
Padre Island Brewing Co is a laid-back gastropub offering a casual ambiance, deck seating, and scenic views. It's the second-oldest brewpub in South Padre Island, Texas. The establishment prides itself on crafting five unique craft beers that have special connections to the island. Some of these beers even give back to the city's most cherished destinations like Sea Turtle, Inc.
They’ve been in business since 1995. They are doing everything right!!! Great location, Service, Food & Atmosphere! It all good. We will be back for sure!! The BEST Fresh Oysters I’ve ever tasted! We ended up eating 3 1/2 dozen. Happy Hour is before 6pm 😘
Barbie L — Google review
Stopped for happy hour ordered appetizers and two IPAs - Celia was our server. She was prompt and pleasant. Another person brought a bowl of water for our pups - we ate outside enjoying the sunshine
Jodee K — Google review
Man let me tell you, there beer is dope and they sell it to go in a old school jug that is refillable. Buffalo wings are good and the pickles with cheese curds are bomb. Pizza is legit and tasty. They have happy hour specials. I highly recommend if you want to try local beer and good food with good vibes.
E S — Google review
We came for a burger & had pizza as well. Everything was delicious! The beer was excellent too. We plan to return for happy hour, great prices.
Beth F — Google review
Such a delicious choice of food, highly recommend the fried pickles w/ fried cheese curds and of course their award winning pizza cause you can definitely tell! Amazing customer service and great vibes all around. Will definitely come again next time I’m in South Padre!
Isabel T — Google review
We really enjoyed the food, and even though I'm not a beer drinker I did enjoy their seasonal in house brew. It was great. Our only complaint was that the room was very loud and echoing. I know it's a brewery, but perhaps some acoustic tiles or ceiling tiles would help.
John W — Google review
Chips and homemade Salsa were great and addictive. Wife enjoyed her Shrimp cocktail and other item. If wanting oysters, call ahead to make sure they're not out, as they were when we went.
Paul — Google review
This food was the best sea food i’ve had in such a long time. the atmosphere is amazing and nothing too crazy you could say it’s family friendly as well as people has their kids here. the food was so good and such good quality. our server and as i noticed other servers as well were so attentive. would drive 8+ hours to come here again. 10/10

F&B SPI is a sophisticated dining destination that offers a casually elegant environment for enjoying creatively presented steaks and seafood. Executive chef Walter Greenwood, along with his partner Brandi Hackett and local restaurateurs Scott and Bob Friedman, have brought their culinary expertise to the island, infusing Mediterranean influences into their menus. The restaurant prides itself on offering upscale mixology and regularly changing menus featuring superb Texas beef, poultry, and fresh-caught seafood.
Excellent! We love going here when visiting south padre! The service is great! I was surprised to find her chicken on menu but it was delicious. Martinis are the bomb here! I highly recommend f&b! Add it to your list of restaurants to dine at! 🔥
Mary N — Google review
Our server was great although he had another customer with a long list of allergies that delayed service with us. We ended up ordering the tomatoes & burrata salad and artichoke & mushroom salad. Both were much bigger and more filling than we expected. Very tasty, great flavors, very fresh ingredients. My wife and I ordered the Salted Red Snapper (medium sized ~2.5 lb whole fish) because we’d never tried something like that before and we wanted to eat seafood. It’s cooked in a shell of salt, Parmesan, and other spices. Broken out and filleted tableside, the fish was served with a blood orange sauce which was our favorite part. Our son liked the fish without the sauce.
Andrew L — Google review
We had the most wonderful experience here. Best food on the island by far. Amber was our bartender and was so great. She made fantastic suggestions! We got oysters (they were from PEI and not the gulf) and they were so good! We also got the rack of lamb which was probably the best meal we have ever had. Everything was cooked so perfectly. I got the seafood pasta which was also great, but we both liked the lamb better! We had such a great time, we came back a second time and got the filet and short rib pappardelle. Both again were phenomenal. Definitely make a stop here to get some good food while visiting. We will most definitely we back!
Danika M — Google review
We had an exceptionally romantic and beautiful dining experience! This place was recommended by friends for date night and we had the best time enjoying the most delicious food, wonderful service (Raymond), great wine selections and laughter. We will definitely be back!
Zky : — Google review
We visited F&B in South Padre last year and loved it so much that we made sure to come back again during this trip — and it was just as amazing! The service, both then and now, was absolutely top-notch. This time our server was Janette she was amazing! This time I tried the filet mignon tartare for the first time, and it was incredible — it literally melted in my mouth. For my main course, I had the duck, which you can never go wrong with, and we finished off with a rich, delicious chocolate mousse. Everything from the atmosphere to the food and service was perfect. Highly recommend this place — it’s definitely one of our favorites in South Padre!
Kristina Y — Google review
Superb service and meal. We went out to celebrate my birthday and recent engagement it did not disappoint! The buratta salad , duck and lamb were amazing. Not to mention they made things wonderful for my special day and our amazing waiter even took a picture of us outside after dinner! We will be back so great!!!
Rachel L — Google review
F&B has become a must-visit when we go to SPI. The food is fantastic, the service above and beyond, and the atmosphere wonderful. We celebrated my wife's birthday here on our last trip, and everything was excellent, as usual. Marlene has taken care of us the last couple of times and is so incredibly helpful and attentive. We've had the Seafood Risotto and Short Rib Ragu multiple times, and they're both consistently delicious. I loved the Duck Confit & Poached Pear Salad from our first time but haven't seen it since. Who knew duck and candied walnuts were an amazing pair? I didn't. Mussels & Saffron were great on our most recent trip. I'd recommend the side of garlic spinach over the carrots. Cocktails have all been great, especially my gin martinis, which not every place gets right. Excellent selection of quality wines. F&B is expensive, but it's a top-notch dining experience. We'll continue going whenever we're on the island. They really do have a passion for food, drinks, and hospitality.

We had a great experience. Food was excellent, especially the salt crusted snapper. Our waiter was thorough and attentive. Staff flowed well around each other, touching each table to ensure that all guest were well taken care of.

Yummies Bistro, located in South Padre Island, is a popular spot for breakfast and brunch. The bistro offers a wide range of dishes, from classic breakfast items like pancakes and egg dishes to Tex-Mex favorites such as breakfast quesadillas and chicken and waffles. With its laid-back atmosphere and excellent service, Yummies Bistro has become a favorite among both locals and tourists.
Ate here for the first time this morning. Tried yesterday on Memorial Day, and it was a 90 minute wait so we bailed. Came back today and were seated immediately. It was busy so they balance this place well. Food was excellent, service was top notch and the atmosphere is great. We had the bacon stuffed waffle, a Chorizo taco and the All American Breakfast. This is good food at a good place for reasonable prices. Sitting outside on the patio for breakfast was awesome. Carlos O was our server and he killed it with excellence and couldn’t have done better. Thanks for a great breakfast experience!
Mike — Google review
Be prepared to wait a long time! Check in, Grab yourself a coffee at the coffee station and wait outside. In my strongest opinion, the food taste and portion sizes are worth the wait! They do offer indoor, outdoor or bar seating. The hours are limited to only breakfast, brunch and lunch.
Amy L — Google review
We really loved this place. The food is delicious and in good quantities. The staff gives an excellent service. It's definitely become one of our favorites, no doubt. It's almost always packed, so be patient in case you have to wait for a table. Overall we give it 10/10
Marleny R — Google review
Hands down the best chilaquiles I’ve ever had on the island. I ordered half red salsa and half green salsa both were exceptional! The French toast was also so delicious! Definitely recommend. Also our waiter was so kind and talkative, really enjoyed the recommendations and assistance.
Somekindofalien X — Google review
Delicious foods, great service, all in a gem of a restaurant buried in a little shopping center. I recommend the breakfast quesadilla, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Show up early or be prepared to wait. If you show up and there's a line, rest assured that the wait will be worth it.
Rob L — Google review
With name“Yummies,” we were compelled to try this establishment, and it exceeded our expectations. The cuisine was delectable, but we should have anticipated the customary wait time, considering that we were visiting the island during the 4th of July. This place is a must visit and try!
Moses P — Google review
Best coffee on the island! Lattes are colorful and full of color! Mimosa was sparkly and flavorful. Breakfast was great! I highly recommend. We got in pretty quick. It’s a big restaurant so plenty of seating.
Mary N — Google review
I was impressed with the chilaquiles. They were really good. I ordered the Mediterranean avocado toast. I like that they have a great variety of food options including smoothies and coffee specialties. If you are visiting SPI. This place is a must have breakfast ✨🫶

First time here.... DEFINITELY coming back. Zack was great, friendly with a smile and attentive. Food was AMAZING. Its always hard to find a place my Husband and I both enjoy. The outdoor eating area was nicely shaded. Looking forward to our next time.

Cafe on the Beach is a hidden gem with front-row ocean views and a laid-back atmosphere that’s hard to beat. The breakfast was top-tier—fresh, flavorful, and served hot. Staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Whether you’re starting your day or winding it down, this place hits the mark. A must-visit if you’re after quality food with a view that speaks for itself.
Benjamin H — Google review
Cafe on the Beach is a must stop while in South Padre Island (SPI). I had the combo basket (shrimp, red snapper and oysters) and the homemade chips. The chips were crispy and flavorful. You get a view of the beach with a nice breeze. The service here is very friendly and professional. I am glad I was able to stop by and experience the wonderful food, service and beautiful views.
M C — Google review
This is my favorite restaurant on SPI! Such a good vibe right on the beach, quiet, cozy, and great food as well. They have lots of yummy food options and drinks were great as well. We typically end dinner with a nice walk to the beach. I come here every time I'm in SPI - love it!
Abi — Google review
We wanted to have a morning beach view and thought Cafe On The Beach would be a great find and we weren’t disappointed. It’s a very busy spot with limited parking so plan cautiously ahead. They do also accept dogs but on their patio which has limited seating as well. The place is clean and very cozy with a nice view of the sky but you can’t see much due to the tall grass towards the beach. We were placed on a waitlist and quoted at a 20 minute wait but it was more like 10 minutes so it moved fast. After we sat we ordered pretty quickly, our server was attentive and friendly as well. We ordered the palms malted pancakes with sausage on the side and the giant breakfast taco with chorizo, potato, and bacon. The pancakes were good, pretty standard for most places but from other places in SPI it’s definitely better. They did make a mistake and brought out bacon on the side instead of sausage, which was unfortunate as it was not good, firm and not the best. The giant breakfast taco certainly lived up to its name. The thing was massive and extremely hot, almost too much so because it was difficult to handle. It was good though, packed with flavor. This was the rare time we didn’t get any drinks while out but based on the food alone, we would say it gets a pass, nothing crazy but also nothing bad. This spot is a nice place to sit at and the ambiance feels nice and beachy and the service is good. It’s certainly better than other breakfast spots on the island but if you’re coming here it will probably be more for the setting than for the food, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Amber L — Google review
Celebrated my husband's birthday today and good fortune brought us to this lovely place. The view of the beach was beautiful, staff provided great service, drinks made me tipsy, and food was absolutely delicious. We were on a hunt for seafood and the mussels and red snapper did not disappoint here. Props to the chef and kitchen staff! Also a pleasant surprise, we met the owners at the bar and it was nice to see them enjoying the food and drinks as much as we were. Cheers to everyone there and we will definitely stop by again!
Cam R — Google review
We came for lunch. The service was a little slow. But it was not bothersome at all because the magnificent views made up for it. Plenty of outdoor seating at this small restaurant located at the back end of the two star motel. Did I mention the beach front views! They have a boardwalk access to the beach, which is a great plus! The food we ordered was good. We especially enjoyed our fruit smoothies!
Amy L — Google review
Amazing breakfast options. I had the eggs benedict with lobster and they were 10/10 as well as the mimosas they serve. This place has a great vibe and really nice staff. Definitely one of the best spots at the island !!!

Breakfast restaurant
The Meatball Cafe #MadeFromScratch is a cozy, family-owned restaurant that has been serving up a wide variety of traditional Italian dishes and pizzas since 2015. Run by the husband-and-wife team John and Rhonda Ferrone, this lively eatery prides itself on crafting all its meatballs, pizzas, and sauces in-house daily. Guests can enjoy these delectable offerings in both indoor and outdoor dining areas as well as at the full-service bar.
While on South Padre Island, we decided to give The Meatball Café a try based on their Google reviews. We were not disappointed! This was the best meal that we had on the island. The atmosphere of the inside seating was intimate and perfect. The service was excellent! Our server’s name was Joel, and he was very attentive and made us feel valued as customers. To start with, the bread with dipping oil was great! Crusty on the outside and soft and airy on the inside. Just look at the photo and you’ll want some too! My wife got the Seared Sea Scallops, but instead of Tuscana-style on the menu, the cook was happy to do it scampi-style for her. The scallops were cooked perfectly, and she says this is one of the best scampi dishes that she has ever had. I got the Italian Sausage Milano. Outstanding! This was a great dish, and the sauce was phenomenal (I would probably had licked my plate if we had been at home!). We had absolutely no complaints about our meals or the service. The portions were also large enough that we both took leftovers to eat the next day, and our server even gave us a loaf of the bread to take with us. Yes, the food was just as good the next day (and I might have even licked my plate when I was done). I highly recommend that you go to The Meatball Café and eat their food! Based on our experience, you will not be disappointed. I wish we lived closer because we would be eating here all of the time!
Running D — Google review
This place is insanely delicious! Scratch-made pastas, desserts, bread, local beer!!! Pizza! It does not get any better! From the dipping sauce and fresh pressed breakfast juices, this place is great! Super fresh! Extremely friendly staff. Always a great time here. If you're lucky enough someone will play the piano! Some of the most delicious foods on South Padre Island!
Gallo P — Google review
The service is great. My husband and I have been there few times and we have been with family as well. The lasagna is to die for. The spaghetti meat balls, delicious. Great spaghetti and sauce. However I recommend for the price at least double the meat or make it 3. 2 small ones seems too cheap. Delicious soups. Great value for my money except for the pasta meat balls
Zhie C — Google review
We enjoyed this place greatly. The service was top notch. Our server Luis was very helpful and patient with us as it was our first time there. He made suggestions and very knowledgeable of the food and wine served. Definitely will be coming back. Omgeee the lasagna 🫠 and the Salmon dish!
Lisa F — Google review
Wow. This place is an absolute gem!!! Admittedly, I was a bit hesitant to eat Italian food on the beach but The Meatball Cafe was phenomenal! If you're going back and forth on eating at this place, let this review be what you need to give it a try! I promise it will not disappoint. THE ATMOSPHERE/SERVICE: Beautiful. Very romantic with a great noise level for conversation, and the second you walk in the door the smell is out of this world good!!! Not to mention, the staff is absolutely phenomenal. They knew when to check in without hovering or overstaying their welcome. Very knowledgeable with the menu and had great recommendations! Very polite, very friendly, extremely personable. I really wish I would have gotten our waitress' name to mention her here because she was lovely! (The Meatball Cafe is also pet friendly on their patio as of 10/17/2025) THE FOOD: After reading a few Google reviews that mentioned how perfectly the scallops were cooked, I decided to order the scallop toscana. Let me tell you, those reviews were spot on! The scallops were cooked to perfection and the pesto toscana sauce was to die for! Very rich, very filling, and a phenomenal portion size. They also make all their pasta, bread, and pizza dough from scratch every day, and you can really taste the difference there. Some of the best pasta I've ever had!!! My husband ordered the lasagna and it was mind blowing. He said it's the best lasagna he's ever had in his life, hands down. You can really taste the love this place puts into every single dish. As for the appetizer, we ordered the fried cheese ravioli. I forgot to get a picture of it, I was so hungry, but man was it good and the raviolis were HUGE! Easily the size of my hand. The flavor was phenomenal and the Marinara sauce it came with was extraordinary! The salads that came with our entrees were excellent as well. I got the balsamic vinaigrette dressing and it was very very good. As for the appetizer bread, oil and vinegar... It was out of this world, truly! I believe the olive oil they used was slow simmered with garlic beforehand so it was packed with great flavor! EASILY the best olive oil balsamic mix I've ever had. There were a good number of delicious vegetarian options as well, so this would be a great place to bring your vegetarian friends and family! The chefs are also VERY willing to work with your preferences and needs so that you get the dish that's best for your tastes! THE DRINKS: If I'm being honest, the drinks were good but not great. They definitely pour heavy-handed, which is nice if you're not a lightweight! We got a Moscow mule that was pretty standard in flavor and quality. The Italian margarita was good but not amazing! It just tasted like a standard tropical/fruity margarita. The old fashioned was way too sweet for our liking, but everyone is unique in their old fashioned preference! Overall, I cannot talk about this place enough! EVERYTHING was perfect (aside from the drinks just being good but not great). The atmosphere, the service, the food, just an incredible experience, and very walkable, too! It was a bit on the pricey side, but anyone who is a true foodie knows when good food and service is worth the price. This will be a regular spot we visit while in SPI from here on out. You absolutely HAVE to try The Meatball Cafe while in SPI!
Libby F — Google review
The food was delicious. My wife had the spaghetti and meatballs, I had the salmon with a special topping and for appetizer we had a steak that melted in your mouth 😋 will definitely back
Brandon H — Google review
Off the to-do list. I've been wanting to come to this place for years. The wife got out of work early and we finally made it for lunch. Perfect timing around 1:00 p.m. low light nice and quiet very romantic ish. We started with calamari as an appetizer. It wasn't as great as we expected it to. It was cooked golden brown but very dry and chewy. We were brought bread which was good with the oil and herb. Wife ordered fettuccine alfredo with chicken. She enjoyed it very much and it had good flavor. I wanted the Best of both worlds so I ordered the lunch special of chicken parmigiana and then I ordered the lasagna. The main course was absolutely delicious, everything was cooked perfectly well served and had great flavor. The only negative thing I can say is the option to substitute. These meals both came with salad and I was hoping to trade them both in for the wedding soup without the upcharge but they wouldn't allow it. So I ended up with the wedding soup and a caesar salad. I'm not a Caesar salad kind of guy but it was actually pretty good. The wedding soup was not that great, it tasted like Mexican soup. service was okay, no one was rude they just didn't check on us very often. Would we go back, most likely yes.

Though I’m I was born and raised in Brownsville, and visit regularly because I now live in Central Texas, I had never been to the Meatball Cafe. Sooooo glad we came and tried it out, in part to the great reviews online. We came for lunch, with three adults and four kids. We all loved it! The service was also very good, as we had a very attentive waiter and other staff that regularly asked how we were doing. We sat in the patio area which has air conditioning.

Mahi Nic is a popular dining spot in the heart of South Padre, offering generous portions and top-notch customer service. While not classified as fine dining, this family-owned restaurant by the marina provides a laid-back atmosphere with a mix of appetizers, sandwiches, and refreshing drinks. The signature Mahi Mahi sandwich is highly recommended for an authentic experience. Guests can enjoy views of beautiful boats while indulging in fresh fish, shrimp, burgers, and homemade fries.
The burgers here are delicious and worth the drive to the island for them. We had ceviche as an appetizer, that was refreshing and delicious! But, the burger was the best of all. The bread is fresh and tasty as well. We've had fish tacos from here too, those also are delicious. The service is also top notch, and best of all.... they allow dogs in their patio. They even bring them a bowl with cold water and a dog bone treat.

Wow I can't believe I've never rated this place before! One of my must go spots for lunch on SPI. My favorite is the Mahi tacos of course, but the other options are so tasty. The fries are so huge and after a long day of work or play they always hit the spot. I love their pet menu, too! I love to travel with my cat so finding places that I can bring him is hard, but Mahi Nic goes above and beyond by including a pet menu! I ordered my cat a piece of chicken breast and they always make sure to leave it unseasoned and uncontaminated by things such as garlic and onions. Love the extra care they have for our furry family members!

Maji Nics is my go to for a special treat for me and my family. i’ve tried almost every restaurant and local eats but this is my favorite. The food is great , tons of flavor! You already know the food portions are enormous. My wife likes the mahi sandwich and my favorite is the mahi tacos and elote. My own little request is if they had draft beer. The beers i’ve been served are always cold and also reasonably priced, i just prefer a draft. I recommend this little gem to anyone in the area.
James R — Google review
Completely outdoor dining. We always stop at Mahi Nic whenever we are on the island. We usually get the mahi sandwich which is really good but today we got the dockside nachos with Mahi Mahi. Wow, were these good. The atmosphere is dockside open air. Staff is very friendly. Feels like a family run restaurant. You really need to try them if you find yourself on SPI.

We stopped in for a late lunch. It’s a little odd to figure out where to go and where to order so - ASK. The service there was FANTASTIC! The staff is exceptional! The hostess, Janie, suggested a few items including their new Taco Salad. They substituted the meat with Mahi Mahi and WOW! I highly suggest it! We also had the Blackened Mahi Burger and their fries??? You won’t believe them until you try them! This is definitely the place to go! Five Stars
Jamie F — Google review
Food was delicious and the staff was so nice! We called ahead and although they don’t take reservations, they had a table set up for 13 of us. My chicken sandwich could have used a sauce and the set up for the restaurant was a little difficult to maneuver around but other than that we loved it. Kid friendly!! Difficult to find parking because the lot was packed.

We were looking for delicious food and we found it!!! Blackened chicken sandwich w/chipotle mayo & their signature homemade fries & blackened mahi tacos w/a side of elote! Phenomenal! Outdoor seating only, with a view of the bay and beautiful boats! Would recommend and go back. Had we found it sooner we probably would have eaten here everyday!!!

Pizza restaurant
Gabriella's Italian Grill and Pizzeria is a popular family-friendly venue in South Texas, known for its traditional Italian dishes and brick-oven pizzas. Since opening in 2003, it has become one of the top dining destinations on South Padre Island. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating, serving delicious lunch and dinner with an Italian flair. Couples can savor pasta favorites like linguine pomodoro and roasted garlic tortellini.
A hidden gem if I’m being honest with you! Usually we go to Meatball but we’re recommended to try this spot out and it was absolutely delicious! We went around 5pm after the Beach Waterpark and had practically the whole restaurant to ourselves. The staff was super nice, knowledgeable, and made us feel super welcome!! We definitely will be going back, can’t wait to have more of that spaghetti!!!! Also, their desserts 👀 we had the strawberry slice (I don’t remember exactly what it was called) but man was it GOOD! And it came with ice cream!!! Definitely recommend!

Magnifico! Gabriella’s Italian restaurant is a wonderful place to grab a bite. We walked up and they had seating immediately for a small group but you can call ahead to ask about wait times. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone. I love Chicken Parmesan and theirs was delightful. The atmosphere was pleasant for being so busy it wasn’t loud. The service was top tier, Enrique went above and beyond to ensure we were well taken care of.

Gabriella’s in South Padre Island is an absolute gem! The ambiance is cozy and inviting, and the staff made us feel right at home. We have to rave about the pesto pizza—it was incredible! The pesto sauce was rich and flavorful without being overpowering, and the fresh ingredients brought everything together perfectly. The crust had just the right amount of crisp, and every bite was bursting with flavor. Easily one of the best pizzas I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. Gabriella’s is a must-visit for great food and a great experience!

The service at Gabriella’s Italian Grill & Pizzeria was outstanding! The bread with the balsamic oil mixture was delicious. I ordered the Cobb salad with grilled chicken — the chicken was cooked perfectly, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. My daughter had the pizza, and it was authentic Italian — you can truly taste the quality! I wish I had room to try the pasta, but there will definitely be a next time. Highly recommend! 🇮🇹🍕🥗

We went to Gabriella’s and wow, the vibe was absolutely immaculate. It’s one of those places that just feels good the moment you walk in. We ordered the pizza and added basil, and it came shredded, which was perfect because every single bite had that fresh basil flavor. The pizza itself was amazing, crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The service was great too, friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Definitely one of my new favorite pizza spots!

We had a great experience dining here! Our waiter, Jaime, was incredibly attentive and fast — he made sure we had everything we needed and checked in often without being overbearing. We ordered the Tour of Italy, and it was definitely big enough to share with three people. The pastas were all delicious, and the lasagna was especially good — flavorful and perfectly cooked. The only downside was the tap water, which had a strange taste. I’d recommend going with a bottled water instead. Overall, a solid meal and excellent service. Would definitely come back!

Family of 5; with each of us getting our own dessert😛 = $200 Not at all a bad price! Especially considering the portion size being perfect to fill you up! Service was amazing, brick oven pizza was DELISH, son got pesto chicken 🤌, and the other ravioli's 🤤 (waited too long to take a poc of his). If you're from Houston like us then this is totally like Buca de Beppo! 10/10

Established in 1978, Blackbeards is a popular spot offering a casual and lively setting for enjoying a wide array of seafood, steaks, burgers, and sandwiches. With its roots heavily influenced by the Gulf of Mexico, this restaurant has grown from seating 35 to accommodating 350 diners. The outdoor bar and spacious patio area provide an ideal environment to savor Florida's sunny weather.
My wife and I really enjoyed eating here and we ordered one meal and split it and it was definitely enough. We both were satisfied and full. Our waiter who was named Jose but people call him Joey was really attentive. We had a great experience.

Blackbeard’s Restaurant on South Padre Island has the reputation as the place to go when on the island. When we told our neighbors that we were going to South Padre Island, they said we had to stop at Blackbeard’s. So, we stopped on a Sunday evening for dinner. The restaurant was busy but not crowded and we were seated right away. This restaurant has a great vibe and is exactly what you’d expect for a restaurant in a beach community. My wife got the Blackbeard’s Seafood Platter with steak fries and house salad. She chose the Asian catfish as her fish option. This is a large amount of food, but it was mostly fried catfish. There were three shrimps, two small scallops, and a small amount of stuffed crab and shrimp with a huge plate of steak fries. The fried food was fine, but we weren’t blown away by any of it. I got the Ginger Teriyaki Ahi Tuna with French fries and house salad. The tuna steak was cooked perfectly, had a great flavor, and it was a large portion. I really enjoyed it and would get it again. Overall, we’re happy that we tried Blackbeard’s. The service was okay, the atmosphere was good, and the menu has something for everyone.

At dinner with our family here on a holiday in South Padre Island . Environment is fun. Great music, lots of decorations, plenty of seating. Menu has lots of options. Pricing is $15-$25 per person for the most part. Portion sizes are huge and was the best part. Food was really good. Highly recommend the tacos

Food was awesome, waiter and hostess were friendly and attentive. Had a party of 5 and we all had a full meal, and dessert for just over $120. Everyone was happy with the food. It was a great dinner. Props to Kevin for not letting our drinks get less than half before refilling. The key lime pie, pumpkin cheesecake, and apple desserts were great.

Had lunch on a weekday and the food, the service, and the pricing were all very good. The shrimp and the Asian fish were nicely battered and fried. The lunch platters came with cole slaw, hush puppies, and fries, all of which were good. Ramon did a great job, making a fresh pot of coffee to accompany our key lime pie. He refilled our coffee mugs without being asked and was very attentive overall.

Seafood restaurant
Sea Ranch Restaurant is a vibrant, two-level eatery offering a diverse menu of wild-caught seafood, steaks, and pasta dishes. With over 34 years in the business, the restaurant prides itself on serving locally sourced seafood from the Gulf that changes with the seasons. The upscale establishment boasts an extensive wine list and full bar, making it an ideal spot for a special night out.
We found this place about 4 years ago and return every year. Calamari is tender and flavorful. Order the crab fingers, they are served hot with garlic, lemon and butter. It's not on the menu as an appetizer, but they have it. It's served with bread to dip into the yummy garlic butter that is left after you finish the crab fingers. they have a kids food and drink menu. An extended wine list and cocktail menu. Part of the restaurant sits on the dock area to look out at the boats and fish in the nearby waterway. They have always been detail oriented and service is excellent. Main dishes are good and your portions are hearty.

First time here and I stopped to look at the huge Miro on the wall. My mouth was open in amazement, it's true I could not stop looking around. We came dressed comfortable, fancy place but very comfy. We were seated at a window seat, looking at the harbor from our table. Looking up I saw wooden carved fish hanging everywhere. Our waiter greeted us right away taking drink orders then bringing a basket of bread and butter. We ordered and our food was cooked to perfection. I do not eat much but wanted to try the Ahi Tuna with baked potatoes and side salad. This was the best tuna I've ever had. Perfect seasoning and cooked perfectly as well. My mom and dad had the scampi, shrimp kabobs with fish. They both loved their meals. I had a lot of food for the next day, I was going to order just the tuna as an appetizer but decided to order the meal, you get 2 sides this way. We left and took time to admire the paintings and gift shop. To my surprise there is a picture of "Here's Johnny" from The Shinning above the door going out. The girls at the desk got a kick out of me laughing, nice touch. What a wonderful evening, thank you for such a great experience.

We went to eat here on a Thursday for our 4th wedding anniversary. I of course did some research before going, I compared it to other comparable restaurants in the area. My wife is not a big sea food lover, so she would prefer steak. the view had to be spot on, and it wasn't going to break my wallet. When we stepped into the restaurant I had my reservations because I saw the small gift shop in front and several people wearing shorts. We came dressed up for the occasion, but when we walked in all we both saw was the view from the windows. The online pictures do no do this place justice. It was a great view of the bay and the boats at the dock. They sat us by a window without even asking us. My wife just stared outside that window the whole time, she may not like seafood that much but she loves being by the water. Our waiter was friendly and his service was also great. My wife ordered a martini and I ordered a bloody mary, both were delicious. I ordered the whole snapper and my wife ordered the filet. Both came out amazing and cooked to perfection. I couldn't of asked for a better anniversary dinner and everything was just amazing. We both left full and even took pictures from outside the restaurant on the dock side. Great place, great service, great views, good food.

It’s our first time on the Island and we came here because of the great reviews. I ordered the special and the presentation was beautiful. The scallops, shrimp and the rice were amazing. However the snapper lacked flavor, the asparagus were overcooked and the cream sauce didn’t pair well with the fish. The watermelon martini was really good. I really wanted to love it, but the special just didn’t live up to the hype.

This is our go to for our birthdays and anniversary. The staff are attentive, and go the extra mile for our special dates. The fish specials are always great but the snapper is a buttery delicious favorite and my husband a land lover has enjoyed the tenderloin burst with flavor and melts in your mouth. The plate presentation is excellent, the salads and bread are so fresh and the crème brûlée is the best ever. Enjoy the beautiful sunsets off the docks and stop and look and the fun jewelry too! And take a piece of key lime pie home. That’s great too!

This is the best brunch spot on the island. My husband loves the chicken & waffles. I really enjoyed the lemon blueberry pancakes with goat cheese. We also tried their fish tacos from the lunch menu and they were delicious, paired perfectly with what I believe was an avocado lime salsa. The cucumber refresher, butter pecan latte, and passion fruit green tea were tasty. Highly recommend!

I stopped in for a late lunch on a Friday, after a day enjoying the beach. Service was friendly, quick, and full of great suggestions. My server and others checked on me. I wish I lived in town. The coffee and pastries look and smell amazing.

Ceviche Ceviche is a popular counter-serve eatery that specializes in offering a variety of ceviches with customizable toppings. Originating from Latin America, this raw seafood dish features options like Mahi Mahi or cured shrimp marinated in citrus and spices. The restaurant allows patrons to create their own ceviche by choosing from an array of ingredients such as pineapple, avocado, mango, melon, and different sauce options.
I was on the island for the Labor Day weekend and ceviche was on my menu. This was very good. I like that you were able to pick your toppings and they cut it and mix it right there in front of you. The only thing that was a downfall it was extremely hot in there It needs a better cooling fan system, especially since you’re waiting patiently because each order is made to order. There were only Two female employees definitely nothing bad to say about them. They were working hard in as fast as they could for each order, but maybe another employee could’ve really helped move this line faster.
Diane M — Google review
4/5 stars Tried this ceviche spot in South Padre—fresh, punchy, and worth the stop. The fish was solid quality, citrus was on point, and the spice had just enough kick without killing the flavor. Portions were decent, not huge, but fair for the price. Chips were very oily, but nothing that ruined the experience. If you’re into ceviche, this place delivers. Would definitely go back.
Fareesha Z — Google review
This place is a total tourist trap. If you’re just looking for a fruit or veggie salad with “some” shrimp, it might seem like the go-to spot—but that’s about it. The cleanliness here is seriously lacking. The prep surfaces looked like they hadn’t been wiped down in ages—definitely not up to food safety standards. Cross-contamination seemed inevitable. In the 20 minutes I waited to order, I watched the girl behind the counter eat and drink without washing her hands once. Then a guy took out the trash while wearing gloves, came back in, swapped gloves without washing his hands, and immediately started prepping food. Everything about the space felt unsanitary. The surfaces were visibly dirty, and it was uncomfortably hot inside. The same guy who didn’t wash his hands was sweating heavily and wiping his forehead while handling food—definitely not okay. Some serious management and food safety training are needed before people start getting sick. And if your idea of “fresh,” as some other reviews suggest, includes pre-cut veggies from a bag, then you’ll probably be fine. Unfortunately, my tomatoes were wilted and had that unpleasant “refrigerator” taste. Maybe this place used to be worth the hype, but like many spots that get too popular, the quality and flavor have clearly gone downhill.

If you’re looking for a great healthy option while visiting South Padre Island, look no further! Ceviche Ceviche offers fresh, made-to-order ceviche that’s perfect to grab and take down to the beach. It’s quick, delicious, and a nice change of pace from the usual fried options around the island. Service can vary a little depending on who’s behind the counter, but overall I’ve always had a good experience here. Definitely a must-try spot if you love fresh seafood and light, flavorful meals!

So we came to the island on vacation and the first morning we came for breakfast. The sever (Jessica) was on her game and very knowledgeable. We ordered the crepes as an appetizer. They were lite and delicious. My wife had the country omelette and said it was the best she had (and we had both worked the industry for years). The absolute best of the visit was the Victor Chiliaquiles. I got the best of both worlds with half green and half red sauce. ( green was the best ). Hands down we will come back!

Had their all you can eat seafood buffet. It was amazing. Snow crab, shrimp (several different ways), prime rib with fresh horseradish, ribs, fish ( grilled or deep fried). I eat two plates, one with snow crab and prime rib, and one with snow crab and ribs. Wife, not a seafood person, had a prime rib sandwich and could only eat half of it. Well worth the price, based on market price.

Lured by the west facing outdoor patio, we came for dinner hoping to dine during the sunset. The setting sunlight was a bit too harsh for us, so we moved inside. Other customers seemed fine outside. Inside had the dinner buffet which won us over because of the variety of food they offered, especially the steamed crab which is my son’s favorite. Ultimately, the food was a bit disappointing. Everything was over cooked. Prime rib was basically well done and shredded when cutting it. The pork ribs were pretty dry and leaned heavily on the sauce. The crab meat was stuck to the shells, which is fine just usually shredded and harder to peel. The mac and cheese beshumel was a bit grainy. My favorite food items were the sausage and baked fish. Our waitress was very nice trying to accommodate our friend who is vegetarian. The servers behind the buffet seemed a bit more moody basically throwing food on our plates. Maybe it’s just an off day. We all have them. The buffet itself was crammed in a corner with the protein in the back most corner which felt like a trap when other people were crowded behind you waiting for service. $33/adult and $15/child for buffet.

This is a massive restaurant. Plenty of seating for our large family of 14. We were seated right away. Food was good. They are known for their seafood buffet. I was slightly disappointed that the buffet didn’t include lines on both sides. When the place was busy, you’ll have to wait a while in the buffet line. Limited salad bar. Need to organize that area better.

Louie’s Backyard offers a great dining experience with delicious food and strong, flavorful cocktails. The outdoor seating provides a stunning view of the water and South Padre Island’s beautiful scenery. While they don’t serve crab legs or garlic potatoes before buffet hours, the rest of the menu did not disappoint. We visited as a large group, and although one meal took so long to arrive that most of us had already finished eating, the staff remained friendly. An unexpected bit of entertainment came when a bold bird swooped down and stole a fry right off a plate! Overall, we truly enjoyed the relaxed, waterfront atmosphere and would visit again for the views alone.

This is split up into a few areas, there is an outdoor eating area where there is live music from time to time (there was when we were there), and an indoor area where they have the all you can eat seafood buffet. This is the reason we went. The buffet is amazing with quite the variety of food to choose from. We had a coupon from a local tourist information booklet that told recommended the buffet. They were right, it was incredible!!! There is a small gift shop on the way out to get a souvenir shirt, mug, magnet, or other items.

Even though I’ve been going to SPI for years it was my first time eating at the beach. I looked for places nearby, couple of research I finally chose this place because it was recommended by a friend of mine. It did not disappoint.! My first requirement when I asked my friends for recommendations was “I want to eat next to the ocean” This place has a beautiful view either on first or 2nd floor. It was a partly cloudy day and around sunset, it was stunning! The food was also good. I would like to point out for the first floor there’s a menu and the 2nd floor is another type of menu. I went with family so I chose the first floor. They mentioned second floor is mostly appetizers and drinks. They do have a salad bar, several things to. choose from, salads, cold salads, different type of shrimp, fresh fruit, etc. All plates we got were good portion, good flavor. Service was good. Try it out! I recommend this place 👌

Went here with the family yesterday. The wife and I had the grilled snapper with grilled veggies where the snapper was a bit dry but had good flavor and the veggies looked like they had been pulled from the salad bar (which is very small and basic) and warmed up. My daughter liked the cowboy chicken with rice but the rice was very basic. Our waiter was nice and worked hard so we tipped him well but he had too many tables and was hard to find when we needed him. The drinks we had were ok but too sweet and there was live music that was decent. I don’t think I would go here again for dinner, though. Too many better seafood places in the area.

If you're looking for a laid-back dining experience by the water, Dirty Al's is the perfect spot to indulge in some mouthwatering Cajun-inspired seafood. This family-owned gem started as a bait stand and has evolved into a beloved restaurant since its transformation in 2003. Known for claiming the title of having the world's best fried shrimp, it offers an array of delectable dishes that highlight fresh Gulf Coast ingredients.
We had a very enjoyable experience here on a several visits. The food was very good and fresh. I don't drink alcohol, but the mocktail pina colada is like a dessert. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for authentic gulf shrimp or fish. It is expertly prepared and some of the best prices on the island.

I’ll be honest I wasn’t expecting much when we arrived. The decor along with the plastic tables and plastic silverware kinda put me off. But once we were seated we have a very attentive server who made great recommendations. He was very friendly and very patient. The food was good. The portion sizes were great for the money when I came to all the fried seafood baskets. My blackened fish was good they even brought the part with the bones in case I wanted to eat that. He definitely warned me though that there were bones in that tray of fish. I didn’t enjoy the salad as it was really a basic salad on the same plate as my fish. The snow crab was great, fresh and succulent. The margaritas were good and we even got to keep the cups. Overall, a good place to stop in if you’re coming back from a boat tour or leaving the Beach Waterpark. Very casual environment as expected in a beach town.

We didn't enjoy our food. I ordered a blackened fish without realizing it would be a 2.3-pound giant, which ended up costing me $65 just for the fish😅 I hope next time they'll mention the size beforehand, so customers aren't surprised by what they get. The calamari was chewey as well. We didn't finish our meal. I feel like waste money for the foods we ordered. Sorry! I just being honest. Every person has different taste and thoughts. Everyone is not perfect i know but listening to a customer might help for a little change. Thank-you!

It’s a locals “referred” favorite. I found it not so preferred. 1 fried snapper, 8 shrimp, 12 oysters, 2 Pacifico beers and a Mexican coke. $225 with tip. The oysters were pathetic. Stringy and not cut. A few were good. Snapper was tasty but it was $90. Shrimp with butter and garlic were very good. This would have been too much at half the cost. Seriously, go find a local Mexican joint. So much better and reasonable.

Visited Dirty Als and the food was excellent. Everything tasted fresh! The only minor downside was that it felt a bit crowded, which is typical around 7 to 10 p.m. especially during the summer. Overall, I really enjoyed it. It’s a cozy little spot with great food and great prices. You can’t beat it! I recommend the blackened fish with sautéed onions, pnion blossom and the starter boiled shrimp.

Excellent food. Fresh fish and prawns. Drinks were also good. Fries also fresh and crispy. Service was quick compared to the large number of customes served. Place was clean and atmosphere was good. We will definitely visit again whenever in back in town.

We spent 4 days in SPI and honestly, after trying multiple restaurants, we were let down every single time — until a local recommended Dirty Al’s. The first night we went around 8pm (their hours say open until 9), but we were turned away. To their credit, the manager gave us a free appetizer voucher to another spot nearby, which was a nice gesture. We decided to give it another shot the next day, this time around 6:30. We asked for outdoor seating but were told “no, I don’t think we have it,” which was odd since shortly after, another party was seated outside. That was a little frustrating, but once the food came out… it was worth it. The food was hands down the best we had during our entire trip. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. They don’t have a ton of non-seafood options, but there’s at least something for everyone. My husband ordered the whole red snapper — a bit pricey at $86, but honestly after all the disappointment elsewhere, it was worth every penny. Moral of the story: Go early so you don’t get turned away. Dirty Al’s ended up being the highlight of our dining experience in SPI!

This is our second time at this restaurant. Last time was much better, but this time the food wasn't great, nor was the service. My friend ordered fried fish and they brought him fillets. Please don't say the whole fish. Explain honestly what the person is asking you. Last year's review: Excellent food, we loved the service, we were served by a very kind lady named Rosalia, always attentive to our table, we ate very fresh shrimp and fish. It was worth visiting this place. And the hot sauce they sell is excellent, I brought one home. We didn't see that there were tables outside, we would have loved to eat there.

We had a party of 14. We were seated right away. Food was fantastic. Our server Candelario R was AMAZING. Highly recommend him and this restaurant. Lastly, food came out quickly!

We ate here three times on our week long vacation to South Padre. When we return next summer we will definitely eat here again. The service was great from Jacob. I got the green enchiladas all three times because they were so good! The chips and salsa they bring out are very fresh every time! Would definitely recommend!

Food was fresh, hot and delicious! Jose took great care of us as we are here for several days. The salsa was the best we've ever had anywhere.
Jose L — Google review
We won’t be back. Our server was the best part about dining here. He was sweet & attentive. The food looked deceptively impressive upon arrival, but the complimentary chips & salsa was the best part of meal & it was ok. My half roasted chicken was dry & everything was flavorless, it literally couldve been improved easily with some salt or salsa over everything. My corn tortillas were hard & dry. My husband’s meal was slightly better. If you like quantity over quality, this is your place. My iced tea tasted like mildew & so did my husband’s water. Undrinkable. The tables & floor could use a good scrubbing. The colorful paint & decor do not hide that the restaurant is dirty.
M S — Google review
Food was alright, drinks were ok... not worth the price per the portion ratio in my opinion, salsa and chips were pretty darn good.... place was decorated awesome and it was a good dinner... not much to brag about... had a chicken chimichanga, birria tacos and seafood trio basket
Skulli A — Google review
Our favorite Mexican spot on Padre Island. The salsa is fantastic, the chips are awesome. The drinks come in a collectors cup and are made with a "solid pour". The food is also tremendous no one at our table had any complaints. We make it a point to visit here for at least one meal every time we come down and I plan to collect ALL the cups "infinity stone" style one of these days, though it'll probably take a few trips.
Brian W — Google review
The tortillas were rubbery, the Mexican rice was sweet (?) and the beans were just ok. Save your money, cause even the margaritas were bleh. I could not taste any tequila ☹️ the free chips they give tasted like they were cooked in old grease. Save your money. Go to Whataburger, at least you know you are getting junk food.
Caroline S — Google review
Don't go in there if you want quality.......there are best places in town.....only thing that I enjoyed was Piña Colada...so good.....food horrible...Chips are the worst ....i assume they fry them in old grease...I returned them ...and restaurants need an update about maintenance...look dirty...holes on the walls and even you can see mold growing....so I'll never be back...

The menu features an array of delectable seafood options, from traditional favorites like fried shrimp and oysters to unique specialties such as their renowned crab cakes. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable, ensuring a satisfying dining experience without breaking the bank.
Joe's was highly recommended by a friend and knew I had to stop in! I went with the Nathan Special. I chose grilled but I think you can get fried or blacken. Fresh shrimp, Flounder, and crab cake. Huge meal but all so good. Everything was cooked to perfection. Service was friendly and quick. Great Job!

Freshest and best seafood I've had in any restaurant I've been to while visiting the Rio Grande Valley. No wonder my brother in law loves this place so much! We drove all the way from Brownsville, because he wanted me to try the Seafood Stew. All I can say is it was delicious!! It's was loaded with seafood; fresh chunks of fish, lots of shrimp, some crabmeat, mussels and conch, too! My sister got the Joe's Seafood Platter consisting of a couple filets of fresh fried fish, some fried shrimp, fried oysters and crabmeat stuffing on a half crab shell. I tasted some of the fish and it was fresh. Being from the southeast coast of Florida, I'm very skeptical when a restaurant boasts about "fresh caught" fish, but Joe's came in clutch! The place isn't big but it was packed, which is always a good sign that the food they serve is on point. They have a refrigerated section where you can choose whatever fresh seafood you'd like to purchase to take home and cook yourself. Plus, they will also cook your fresh catch in the restaurant if that's what you prefer! The waiters were great for being so busy, the Modelo 🍺🤠 was cold and the food was excellent! Can't ask for anything more! I'd recommend this nice little restaurant to anyone wanting some delicious fresh seafood while visiting the Rio Grande Valley.

I had the Caldo de Mariscos, and it was really good. They did not hold out on the seafood. Had the avocado and pico. Also good, but the pico needed some lime. Beer was cold. Service was awesome. Overall, everything was excellent. Love this place.

It's really good, fresh seafood. I was not disappointed There is construction on the street, so i had to park in the rear. The place is a fish market slash restaurants. No frills place with fresh seafood. They do serve beer and wine as well. I had the fried platter, and it was fresh and hot. FISH ,SHRIMP, OYSTERS, STUUFED CRAB COLESLAW, FRIES AND A ROLL. the only thing i thought was ok was the store crab but it was still good. I will definitely be back.

It was the 1st time my wife & I had the pleasure. We both ordered the deluxe and it did not disappoint!!! When u go to a restaurant & they bring your food within 5 minutes of ordering it, u wonder if it is fresh. Well, our food was TOO HOT to eat, which indicated it was right out of the pot! It was also our 1st time in SPI and it was amazing. This spot is AWESOME, The shrimp was COLLOSAL and we had to take a bag home with us!!! (IN HOUSE MARKET) I'm only mad that Joe Jr didn't tell me how good the food is, but he pointed us in the right direction & has made us a fan for life!!!! >>FIVE STARS<< WE WILL RETURN P.S. Can we please get a location in San Angelo PLEEEASE?? Asking for a few friends :)

Restaurant
Daddy's Seafood & Cajun Kitchen, established in 2006, offers a casual dining experience with a focus on Cajun-inspired seafood dishes such as pastas and po' boys. The restaurant features a full bar and fish market, providing patrons with an array of beverages to complement their meals. With lunch and dinner services available throughout the week, visitors can indulge in the freshest local seafood and ingredients prepared in the Cajun tradition.
We brought 5lbs. of fresh Black Drum & Speckled Trout in to have it cooked for our dinner. We asked for blackened, grilled and fried. The fish was cooked to perfection and was some of the best tasting fish our group of 4 has ever tasted. I totally recommend this restaurant to Cook your Catch, you won’t be disappointed!! Our waitress did an excellent job as well.
Ray C — Google review
Daddy’s in South Padre Island has a solid reputation, but our experience was a bit mixed. We tried a variety of dishes, starting with the Dirty Sampler, which sounded exciting but ended up being underwhelming. For $25, we expected a decent spread, but it was surprisingly small—especially with just a few stuffed shrimp jalapeños, some calamari, and cheese sticks. Honestly, not worth the price at all. On the brighter side, the shrimp Alfredo was really good—creamy, flavorful, and the shrimp were cooked well. The shrimp tacos were also enjoyable, and the shrimp po’boy was generous in size and had a nice kick to it. However, we also ordered the Lila Special, which is supposedly award-winning, but it didn’t live up to the hype. It left a strange aftertaste and wasn’t something we’d recommend. One thing to note: don’t drink the water. It had a strange, almost chemical taste that put us off. Also, be aware of the 20% service charge for parties over six, which is automatically added—and then you’re still expected to tip on top of that. Overall, it wasn’t a terrible meal, but for the price and the uneven quality of food, we probably wouldn’t go back. There are better options on the island.
Mubeen K — Google review
Loved the place. Was immediately greeted by wait staff and seated. We visited on a Saturday lunch hour and there was no wait time to be seated. Darren was our waiter and he was helpful with choosing menu items. Ordered the chicken Alfredo and the shrimp boil, both well served. Family friendly, they give the kids alligator hats. Ordered two appetizers that were very well served. I definitely recommend the Texas loaded fries and shrimp stuffed peppers. Some things I’d fix would be to add more lighting fixtures as the dinning area was a bit dark, proper signage at the front door entrance, and that the food be more seasoned. When back at the island, will definitely return to Daddy’s seafood kitchen!
María D — Google review
Had a great experience at Daddy’s Seafood in South Padre Island! The service was top-notch, especially from my waiter and bartender Alejandro — he really made the visit outstanding with his attentive and friendly attitude. The restaurant itself is very spacious, with plenty of seating including an upstairs area that gives it a nice open feel. The seafood here is as fresh as it gets — you can tell it’s caught locally, maybe just a couple miles away. Their seafood boils are the real deal, served in a bag with all the seasoning cooked in, not the fake pan-style versions you find elsewhere. The shrimp were big, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, and the portions overall were very generous. The drinks were just as impressive — nice and strong, with the prickly pear margarita being a standout. Between the quality of the food, the drinks, and the excellent service from Alejandro, this place is a must-try. Definitely planning on coming back the next time I’m in town, and if you go, make sure to ask for Alejandro!

Place was great. Service was outstanding. Came to eat with my family of 6 (3 adults, 3 kids) and it came around $145 due to %18 automatic service charge; which did not bother me in the least due to the great service. The taste of the food was not something to brag about, but it was alright. Maybe it was what I order, but maybe will try another dish next time. Definitely, love the environment and the way the waiter was constant in checking to see if we need it anything. Great service.

Omgee! We were craving a crab boil and this was the spot. The hot mama was spicy but so good. Lemon butter and Cajun mix was delicious too. The onion blossom has huge and very yummy.

Chill and peaceful atmosphere. Decorated with fishing and sea themed decor with various TVs for entertainment. Nice and friendly staff and the food came out delicious and hot. I ordered a New Orleans style Freddy's Mix Seafood Boil with crab. It was so good! Came with a bib and gloves, which I'm thankful for because it is quite messy but worth every drop

Food was decent. I was expecting more flavor. It’s pretty loud upstairs and hard to hear everyone at the table. Music was a little strange. Vibe was kinda all over the place. Fresh seafood & stiff drinks will bring me back tho! I got oyster Rockefeller without the bacon. Was pretty good. I also got the stuffed redfish. Both were pretty good.

We were told to go check this place out by family that has been before and it did not dissapoint! We started with a Yellow Fin signature cocktail and it was so delicious! 3 of us had their vurger which was a fresh pattied burger on an onion bun with lots of condiments and toppings plus add on options. The 3 of us had sweet potato fries, French fries and fried pickles and all of it was delicious. Our last guest had the teriyaki chicken bites which were also delicious. It took almost no time for our food to come out and the staff was so friendly and fun. Live music started at 6 and the guy singing had an incredible voice. 10/10 recommend, especially if you want to enjoy some drinks and music right on the water!

This bar and grill restaurant is on the bay side. It is a popular spot for those wanting to catch the sunset view. You’ll have to arrive early enough to claim your spot, it does get busy. The entire restaurant is outdoors with some sections offering a covered roof. They often have live music. They will ask you to show your ID. They don’t serve beer on draft. They specialize in cocktail drinks served in a plastic souvenir cup. Their cocktail drinks are not my favorite, but the beach vibes and the sunset make up. They do serve the typical bar food. It’s not the best. At times, it gets too busy for the servers to handle. I’d like to see more staff when the crowd is high. Our server was very overwhelmed trying to serve multiple large groups at the same time.

The service was great! Ted made us laugh and feel beyond welcomed! He shared with us their go to options and recommendations, and asked what we liked. We came to the island as 4 adults who never been here. We loved this place, ate here multiple times in our weeks stay. The atmosphere was awesome, the Sunsets beautiful. The staff was terrific! We all enjoyed our meals every night. The shrimp cocktail was yummy & although there was 5 large shrimp hanging there is 5-6 more chopped in the sauce. The large is big enough for a meal for one. We had the Red Fish, Maui Maui, shrimp (blackened & fried) , the Raspberry Key lime Pie was yummy. It’s not the best place I ever eaten but the best on the island.

First let me start off by saying the customer service was exceptional!!! The only issue I had was the food was just not seasoned enough for me. If you like light seasoned or bland food this is for you as for me I love seasoning and flavor. I ordered one dish and I did not like it the manager suggested something else and it was much better. Again I just like flavor on my food the food was not bad. View of the beach nice resturant clean..

My wife and I read some good reviews about this spot so we figured we would give it a shot. The atmosphere and staff was fun and great views of the sunset. I just wanted a good burger and my wife wanted some seafood dish. So we ordered some drinks which were good then ordered our food, but within 4 maybe 5 minutes max or food was in front of us... we both looked at each other and said what did we just do? So we started to dig in and we had to admit it was pretty darn good. It tasted fresh and hot. We ordered desert, enjoyed the sunset and recommended you do the same.

Don't let the small, open air feel of this restaurant fool you. The seafood options are varied and much more upscale than the fried fish dishes elsewhere on the island. The plates are lovely and the taste is spectacular. We came for both dinner and lunch during our trip, and the service was really, really good. Kudos to Sam for her amazing service. Pricewise, the Painted Marlin is mid range ($10-30/pp), and they'll gladly cook your fresh catch for you for only $10 with sides! So many sauces and cooking styles that their chef deserves ample recognition! Get on the waiting list because they'll be booked up at least an hour before closing. Or thanks to everyone that makes the Painted Marlin a unique SPI landmark. Don't miss it!

We saw the reviews and the crowd this place had. After we waited for 1.5hrs we were seated. Staff was friendly and attentive, including the MOD who took great care. The apps were very good and pictured attached. The drinks were very weak and not the best tasting. If your on the water you should be making the best mojito and margaritas. The fish tacos lacked flavor for sure. Over all great place to check out.

Great easy place to eat. Fast service, fresh food, awesome sweet potatoes fries, enjoyed the Cesar salad with blackened shrimp too. Highly recommend for families is solo travelers. I came about 4pm so got to watch sunset too. Great outdoors seating area facing the harbor. Very helpful staff, food came out super fast and was fresh.

The food was very tasty but the service was very slow, soft drinks were not refilled, cocktails were weak and not worth the money. Popular place with 30min wait (which was accurately stated when we arrived) in a great location with nice ambience (although it needs music) that on a clear day will be great for watching sunsets.

Just had the best food experience at Chilitto Pikin! Every dish that came out was better than the last, and the first was fantastic! Ordered the Combo Enchilada special (excellent combination), a chicken quesadilla, shrimp quesadilla, and two tortas - one buffalo chicken and a Philly fajita. The tortas are HUGE, and we only ordered the medium! They also came with crispy, well-seasoned fries. There are leftovers for another meal later! The quesadillas came with pico, lettuce, avocado slices, and sour cream. All the food was so fresh and well-presented. Our server was wonderful as was her translator that was only needed for a compliment to her and the restaurant. Would happily recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Really liked this place. Party of four and we all got something different and enjoyed it. I got the 5 pork tacos for about 5.99. My wife got the Blackened fish tacos and there were very flavorful. Some of the best fish tacos we've had. Chips and salsa was good especially with the four hot sauces some of which were pretty spicy 🌶. Highly recommend giving it a try even just for the tacos. 😃 happy customers. Tips: Ask for their hot sauce/"salsa" it comes in squeeze containers and is very good and has some spice 🌶. They also have vegetarian options.

Plenty of food for the price and attentive service. Definitely worth the trip.

Overall great food here, definitely recommend eating here. The meat is very flavorful and everything was fresh. I will say the beans and rice needed more flavor but everything else was so good it didn’t matter to me. The service is great too, our waitress was very helpful. Blackened fish tacos are off the charts good. Classic beans and rice to pair. The service is very friendly as well. I was quickly recognized with a warm smile and nice conversation on a return visit. The servings of horchata are LARGE. A great value. The prices are well below the value you receive. Best tacos on South Padre Island!

The tacos here are so good. I had babacoa tacos. Its was tender and juicy. My sister had chicken tacos which she also enjoyed. The rice and beans are also really good. And the sauces are spicy and delicious. My husband had the monster chicken chipotle torta which defeated him but was so good he took a nap and finished the rest at home. Small place but prices and staff were great. Whataburger bag in the background was from a friend who does not like tacos.

Really great views of what's going on no matter where they place you. Live music was the perfect volume and entertaining. We had ordered the combo platter, which comes with fish and shrimp only to find out the fish was dry. We were disappointed as the water was right there and thought it might actually taste a lot fresher. Shrimp, garlic rice, fries, salad, and macaroni were darn good. We will definitely return as we did come on the fourth of July holiday and understand how busy it can be. On a positive note, the bathrooms are fully stocked and clean. That's a big plus for me. Thanks again, and see you again soon!

This place was a great find for a Saturday night. There was no wait, and my party of 8 was seated right away at dinner time with a view of the water. We were blessed with great ambience including great live music with a dance floor and we were lucky that there was a fireworks show that night. The service was a bit slow and the waitress came by to check on us just a few times. The food took about 40 minutes to get to us but this is to be expected for a dinner rush. The tacos were good but not over the top, the asada fries were a good choice to pair with them. The drinks packed a great punch and were a decent price. The experience and the view were spectacular, the wait is to be expected especially if you go during dinner in the peak season.

After what felt like an eternity driving down to SPI, we needed to fuel up and decided to hit LongBoard for our first dinner of the trip. There was no wait which was great and we were seated promptly by the waterside along with our dog. The setting is incredible and the restaurant is clean and spacious. There is live music which certainly adds to the ambiance and helps round out the entertainment. The view overlooks the bay and you can easily catch a sundown here without any or much obstruction. Service was quick and attentive, the workers were definitely working hard as they were sweating in the heat, and the place started to fill up after we got there which is always a good sign. A few days later we walked by and it was very packed with a line out front. We walked over there but there is decent parking out front of the restaurant. Now onto the food… It was not good. The All American burger was average, nothing that really stood out about it. The fries were good, which is a plus. However, the fried fish basket was downright awful. It had zero texture, just soft and fell apart at the slightest touch except for one or two parts that felt hard. Tasted like it was frozen and microwaved for the meal. On the other hand, the drinks were pretty good. We had an island colada, mango daiquiri, strawberry daiquiri, and lime margarita. All were very good and had we not just driven so much and had been so tired we likely would’ve gotten more. LongBoard is a decent bar and grill, one that offers great views, service, and drinks. If you’re willing to overlook the iffy food then it really is a great place to kick start or end off a night. Come for the views, stay for the drinks.

Music was good, was able to take my daughter, food came out fast, but it was hot outside I was sweating. The server Bobby made sure we had our drinks always full that did help and he made my birthday fun. Bobby was fantastic: very friendly, attentive, and great at making conversation. Great experience.

Had a late dinner here and the food, the service, and the atmosphere were all good. There was a live band performing on stage when we arrived. We had the ceviche, shrimp tacos, and a vegetable plate. The ceviche and the tacos were well prepared and tasty. The vegetable plate was nicely presented but wasn’t worth the price for the amount of vegetables. It came with some soy sauce on the side. The margarita was average and the service was adequate.

The food was good. They had a live band playing random songs. Waitress was really nice and came by to see if we were good a bunch of times. The night views are nice.

Great experience at the restaurant thanks to Javier, our server! He was welcoming and provided excellent service. Javier had a great attitude and made our dining experience enjoyable. Went on a Sunday, place gets packed! Got lucky since we went kinda early for dinner.. Food was ok at best.. Ordered shrimp po boy with plantains, shrimp tacos, and seafood platter.. only thing I liked from the platter were calamari and shrimp quesadilla.. loaded with Hella fries.. not worth the $70 price tag.. the plantains were good..

Peruvian restaurant
Located in South Padre Island, ROCOTTO GRILL offers a fusion of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine in a vibrant atmosphere. The restaurant is known for its spectacular dishes that blend flavors from both culinary traditions. With an ocean view and a laid-back atmosphere, it's the perfect spot to enjoy Tex-Mex food alongside sun and surf.
The place is amazing! It has huge windows all around so you get a very nice view of the beach. The place is very well decorated and the service is amazing. I'd like to thank Silvia for really helping us out with the menu and being very attentive! I highly recommend it! (I was advised the menu had been very recently updated so I uploaded the new menu in the pictures.)

It's by the beach front, relaxing and beautiful view. The food was great, the rocotto sauce was delicious with our yucca. Had the shrimp bisque soup. I poured the rocotto sauce on my dish and it was delicious. Highly recommend.

I got mixed first impressions when I looked at the menu and they have a big variety of foods including sushi options, tacos and Peruvian food. I personally think and with previous experiences with those types of menus that you can get a very bad experience when choosing the wrong menu item. I ordered the ribeye tacos and my boyfriend the Alfredo pasta. I got impressed by the big portions and the good presentation of the food also it was very delicious. Margaritas were also good and I got them in happy hour $5

Clean and nice atmosphere, good service. The lobster and shrimp soups tasted delicious. The disappointment was with one of the plates ordered...the lobster spaghetti didn't have a single piece of lobster, not even the flavor; a total disrespect to my family member as a client expecting to receive a better quality in the preparation of her food. Drinks were okay!

I absolutely love the location and seating areas in this beautiful restaurant, I was also a huge fan of the service everyone was so nice. I think my meal was a little too sweet, the ropa vieja was almost like a meaty dessert… It was rather off putting, it is typically a vinegary dish with olives, and don’t get me wrong- I ate all the meat, didn’t let that go to waste, but I couldn’t really eat the plantains because of how sweet overall the meal was. The sauce didn’t really help balance it either, never had a ropa vieja like this. The calamari on the other hand was phenomenal! I would come back to try something else on the menu. Their drinks looked fantastic as well. $2.75 draft during happy hour was also great.

We found this awesome Peruvian Japanese Restaurant at South Padre Island. It has very delicious food! I love the sauce they have, made from the Aji peppers. The food is very reasonable, and it was also fresh. Our waiter was very nice and helpful. It is a lovely restaurant near the beach. We had Tostones Rellenos for appetizers and I had Coconut Chicken and my husband had Salteado Ribeye. They were very good with a nice exotic taste. We will definitely be back!

Tequila Sunset Bar & Grill is a picturesque open-air venue situated by the stunning Laguna Madre Bay. It offers a perfect setting for private events and gatherings, complete with a bar, catering services, and live music performances. The establishment boasts breathtaking sunset views and serves delectable seafood and bar fare. Tequila Sunset is a great place to enjoy live music and watch the sunset! It has an amazing view and the food is worth it. I ordered some wings and they were huge compared to other places I've been to. Service was a little slow but nothing too bad. I'd recommend it!

We had a great time at this restaurant with its beautiful ocean view. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We ordered shrimp and some drinks — everything was fresh and flavorful. The service was friendly and attentive. I’ve heard it’s even more fun at night, with music and a livelier crowd. Looking forward to coming back!

This is a nice place on the laguna side of south Padre Island. At first it seemed to be a typical beach bar but food and drinks were surprisingly good. Great view of the laguna with a variety of patio shade options. There was a stage and, I suspect, it is a flat-out college beach bar during spring break.

Plenty of parking and seating and the live entertainment was great. But they were deceptive on happy hour pricing and they charged a 3% fee for credit card and did not tell ahead of time. Sorry, this did it for me. I won't be back.

What a great gem for us to find. Or maybe not a gem since it’s well known, but whatever. Tequila Sunset Bar & Grill is a fantastic spot to do it all. Watch the game, see live music, catch the fireworks; you can quite literally do that all here, plus watch the sunset too as the name implies. Parking is pretty abundant outfront and the place is very clean with a nice, open layout. The outdoor patio is dog friendly which is a plus since we never forget our furry friend. Onto the food, we ordered corn dogs with a side of french fries and their Hawaiian BBQ chicken wrap. Their corn dogs were solid as were the fries. It came out extremely hot which made it a bit difficult to eat but you can never really complain about a hot meal at the end of the day. As for the Hawaiian BBQ chicken wrap, it was absolutely fantastic. We were actually a bit blown away by how good it was since our food experience in SPI to that point was not very good, but this was downright great from the chicken to the tortilla and everything in between. On the drinks side, we ordered three: a piña colada, mango daiquiri, and banana foster’s colada. All of the drinks were okay, nothing too special to note other than the fact that they didn’t really feel like they had that much alcohol in them. To some that can be a good thing, but on these they just felt like they were a light pour more than so sweet you can’t taste it. Other than that, our experience here at Tequila Sunset was great. Drinks were decent, food was great, and what a view. We will definitely be back whenever we’re in the area.

Enjoyed a nice weekend lunch here. The outdoor seating was very nice with beautiful views overlooking the water. They had an excellent live performer. Service was quick and efficient. Fried pickle appetizer was delicious. Fried chicken sandwich was pretty good, fries were yummy. Fish tacos were a bit disappointing, as was the salsa. Overall a nice place to have lunch, with typical grill food.

Disappointed in the service and atmosphere. I have 2 autistic sons. 6 and 5. Both went to the female restroom and the security guard demanded they go to the men's restroom. Absolutely not. They are children and on the spectrum. When I asked for the manager, management took forever. A clear sign that they dont care. Let's do better. Waiter took 15 mins to give us menus. And another 15 for our drink order. Never came back to ask about our drinks, we had to go to the bar for service. For the amount of money you spend, its a disappointment.

Nestled in the stunning South Padre Island, Viva is a newly opened waterfront restaurant that offers a delightful Latin-inspired menu and an array of specialty cocktails. The establishment has garnered praise for its delectable homemade guacamole with pomegranates, mouthwatering ribeye with pickled onions, and sumptuous shrimp dish in cream sauce. Guests can relish their meals while enjoying picturesque views of the bay and sipping on refreshing drinks served by attentive staff.
Stunning views! Wonderful open air place with big garage doors for good weather or closed up with outside heating when it's cool. The staff is fabulous and very attentive! Brussels was a stand out for me. They were cooked to a perfect medium firm with crispy leaves and a sweet tangy flavored sauce. Bar drinks were good as well. The desert looked good but no room left for that.

I highly recommend this place! Their food tastes fresh and contains amazing flavors. The ambiance is great, very clean and very beautiful inside. Our server was beyond great and made the experience absolutely perfect. They also have an amazing mimosa selection (we recommend orange juice with a splash of raspberry) and the views outside are incredible. Other restaurants on this island should take notes from this place. 10/10 loved!!!

Definitely the Best Restaurant on the Island. Food was exceptionally delicious, savory and hot when it got to our table. I recommend anyone to come out here and give it a whirl, you will not be disappointed. For an open air concept of a restaurant, this restaurant was not only fresh, it has a beautiful waterfront, super clean dinning area, and a very clean restrooms. Service was excellent, and great attention but not bothersome.

The food here is absolutely delicious! Seafood tastes like it was fresh from the ocean Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the House Guacamole which comes with pomegranate seeds that provides a refreshing pop of sweetness. Also, the Fish Tacos (Flounder, purple cabbage, pico, spicy mayo) were outstanding. The crispy veggies were perfect on a hot summer day. The servers provided the perfect amount of attention to ensure our meal and time spent was amazing.

We did not had a reservation and the hostess said 1 hour wait. Which we agreed party for 3 At the end we waited 2 hours for a table and whenever I approached the hostess stand she said we are getting a table ready They had no idea of their time line, should have told us that it was going to be 1-2 hours We were sat by 9:30pm and ordered appetizers some how I went to the restroom and the busboy came by and had clear out app plates, napkins and silverware like rushing us out the restaurant close at 10pm and we had not ever got our entrees. You would think that the someone should have told the manager that we waited 2 hours and he should have stopped at our table but no. He was just hanging around the hostess stand. Emmanuel our server was aware of our situation and when above and beyond for us enjoy our time he was on top of things Out of all the staff there Emmanuel was the ONLY ONE that really cared for the customer satisfaction Food was not really worth the wait but Emmanuel top notch service was superb

Nautico Island Grill is a transformed version of the beloved Cap'n Roy's on South Padre Island. The restaurant offers a Tropical Modern vibe and serves a wide variety of dishes including fresh seafood, Mexican fusion, sandwiches, salads, and more. Visitors have praised the large and varied menu that caters to different preferences. The portions are generous, offering value for money. The staff is described as friendly, helpful, and attentive.
While on vacation, we had the absolute pleasure of dining at this incredible restaurant—and it was hands down the best meal of our entire trip. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm hospitality, but it was the food that truly stole the show. Every dish we ordered was bursting with fresh, vibrant flavors. You can taste the quality in every bite—the ingredients were clearly top-notch, and the preparation was flawless. Whether it was the appetizers, mains, or dessert, everything was perfectly balanced, beautifully plated, and absolutely delicious. This place isn’t just good—it’s unforgettable. We’re already talking about our next visit, and it will be the first stop when we return. If you're in town and looking for an exceptional food experience, this is the place to go. You won’t be disappointed!

We will definitely be back! I ordered the Tex-Mex chicken enchiladas with charro beans. While the enchiladas were a little bland on their own, the salsa that came with the meal added great flavor. The rice and beans were also very good. My husband had the breakfast taco and really enjoyed it—it was huge! I didn’t catch our server’s name, but he was also tending the bar. He was extremely friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. His positive energy really stood out, and he made sure we had a great dining experience. The restaurant itself was very clean and decorated with beautiful artwork that appeared to be for sale. Overall, 10/10!

The cutest little spot, but the food is truly delicious. Been going to the island for years and this was the first time I’ve been here. The Poblano Fish Enchiladas were recommended by a friend and the waitress, and they were really good. My husband ordered the grilled shrimp and fish with veggies, and the flavor was incredible. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Kids meals were large in size and yummy too. It was hard to resist my sons burger, looked really good!

The place is very nice and has a pleasant atmosphere. The service was fine, although it could improve in attention to detail. The food was good, but I had an issue: I ordered a shrimp taco bowl and was served a fish one. I’m not sure if it was a kitchen error or a mistake when taking the order. Since I don’t like fish, I would have appreciated if someone had come by to check if everything was okay, especially considering the restaurant wasn’t very full at the time.

So good! We brought our own catch (drum) and got it 3 ways, blackened fish tacos (some of the best I've had!), fried, and grilled. We also got shrimp 3 ways and the coconut shrimp and zucchini were perfection. The drinks were also great and the fried calamari had great flavors. The ambiance was so cute and great service. We come to South Padre every May and will be back at Nautico next year!

The Island experience coupled with lunch or dinner at this establishment makes it a complete visit at South Padre Island. The ambience is unique and the food is absolutely delicious. The staff is friendly and being greeted outside prior to entering, so that your table is prepared, is calming to the mind. The coffee (yes, coffee) is delicious. The coconut shrimp is amazing as is the calamari! The menu of variety will not disappoint. Must visit at least twice!

This place is a cute little find on the island. Their drinks and service were amazing. Huge disappointment on the food. Their fish and shrimp tasted weird. I couldn’t put my finger on why, my fiancé mentioned maybe the fish was frozen (it reminded me of bleach). I couldn’t eat the fish at all. Very sad considering this is the island. I hope they do better in their food department! Also their side dishes are really odd choices as they do not pair too well with seafood. Would suggest better side options to pair with seafood. *Slight update per owner’s response: this place was extremely busy (understandable per holiday weekend). No one asked how the food was (although a restaurant should practice doing this in day to day operations), if they did I would have been very honest. Not sure how to remedy very apparent mediocre food though. We were extremely disappointed considering fresh seafood shouldn’t be that hard to come by here. Side recommendations: Cole slaw, hush puppies, additional shrimp, cold octopus salad, cold seafood side salads, baked potato, macaroni and cheese, etc.

We stumbled upon Nautico Island Grill almost by accident, looking for a quick place to eat lunch with our dog, and we’re glad we found it because it was pretty good. Parking is solid, they have a lot just to the side of the restaurant and it is clean inside and out. As mentioned, we had our dog so we ate outside on their patio and it was pretty hot. They do have a hose to fill a dog bowl on the patio, but just be aware that even with an umbrella to cover the sun it was still very hot. The service was quick and good too, all positive signs before we got to our food arriving. Our food came out pretty quick. We ordered the fettuccine alfredo with a side of their soup of the day, which was a lobster bisque, and their Nauti’s fish tacos. Both meals were great. The fettuccine alfredo was creamy, a great texture with every bite and very filling. It came with a little bread that didn’t add much but it’s something. The lobster bisque was not that great, thin and overly “fishy”, yeah we get it’s lobster but it tasted artificial. As for the fish tacos, they were the single best meal we had in SPI. They were perfect in every way from texture to taste and size, just an absolute home run on it. We got a side of mashed potatoes with it but were too busy devouring the tacos to even pay it any mind. Lastly, we got a pina colada and mango daiquiri, both of which were among the best we had at the bars in SPI. This was a great lunch and we were pleasantly surprised by how good it all was. This is a place it pains not to give a five star to. We try to reserve our fives so they have a bit more weight on the experience and/or taste and quality of food, but this is pretty close to it. The one thing we would recommend is addressing the heat outside as it’s right off the main street and very hot but this is a place we very highly recommend to anyone in SPI or looking to go here and planning it out.

Ambience is perfect with views to the ocean and bridge. Food was delicious. Loved that they have a magician that comes to each table to perform magic tricks as part of the experience for free from the restaurant. Also, they have a photographer take complementary photos with an option to purchase more photos if desired. Came here for Dinner with the family. I have been here multiple times and the last visit was better than other visits. The food was great, as expected. Service was great as expected, but on this visit there was a guy doing table magic. Krookedhands was his business name. He came over after we ordered and were waiting for our food. Said there's no pressure as he's being paid by the restaurant to do table magic for customers. His card tricks and slight of hand tricks were fantastic! Kids were very entertained and my wife and I were as well. It wasn't hokey card tricks but rather top level stuff. He received a nice tip for the show he put on for us. Food came and it was delicious! I ordered shrimp tacos and ate 1 of the 3 before taking a picture. We will be back for more food and more magic tricks!

Well, Dirty Al bought this place out and made the current owner a deal she couldn't refuse. This restaurant will be closing its doors very soon. Needless to say, I really hate to be a downer, but holy crud. Today was completely horrible. The service was incredibly lacking. Zero refills on ice tea and coffee. $60.00 and didn't even order alcohol. The food was ice cold . Its like nobody knew what to do! We have eaten here numerous times. Today was a complete Poop show. It's a shame, this restaurant is normally very good We shall see what Dirty Al has up his sleeve. Plotted. Scouts Out.

Had a wonderful dinner in this newly remodeled restaurant with new menu. The restaurant has been redone in pale gray blue and white tones. Nice outside area that faces the lighthouse. We started with an Italian margarita- excellent and the complimentary bread - focaccia- fresh and great herb mixture. Then we tried the Rockefeller’s trio which was a yummy mixture of shrimp, lobster, oysters, spinach and bacon. Not a lot of oysters or lobster but tasted wonderful - can get without oysters. I had the 16oz rib eye which had a great smoky flavor; came with potatoes and steamed vegetables with soup or salad choice. We both choose the corn chowder which was creamy with a hint of chicken. Husband had the seafood crepes - which was light stuffed with seafood and a creamy sauce that did not overwhelm the seafood (shrimp, crab and scallops). We also had the molten chocolate cake which was more than enough to share. Comes with ice cream and chocolate sauce. Restaurant was quiet. There is a bar to the right when you walk in as well as the outside seating. While we were there a family came in so high chairs were available. Prices were in the higher mid range with dinners running from $15 to $30. They accept credit cards. We were seated at the window facing the lighthouse. The restaurant is located on the Port Isabel square right off the main road that leads to bridge. We went back for Sunday brunch. They had nice soothing music in the background and different menu. I had crab cake eggs Benedict with lobster sauce which was very yummy. Adam has chicken and waffles with Maker’s Mark sauce. All was yummy with good service and still a great view of the lighthouse. Came back again for lunch for the lobster roll. Lobster is flown in fresh daily and the roll is soft and delicious. I get it with fruit but it comes with fries or chips. Ate outside so nice

Great bread for starters garlic and crispy with fresh marinara sauce. Ordered the pepperoni pizza with jalapeños it was nice and crispy with a great tasting dough and perfectly cooked crust. Love the bar area great TV to watch some sports. Great environment right next door to the lighthouse really cool views and neat lounge area inside the bar area with comfy chairs and different seating all over. Great place!!!!

Had an excellent dinner her with my wife. The meal started with thick, warm, fluffy, complimentary garlic bread that was excellent. We started with the Spinach & Artichoke Al Forno that was served with dipping bread; it was also very good but the flavors were a little subdued. I then got the crab bisque soup and my wife the salad with Italian dressing. The bisque was phenomenal, and while her salad itself was very underwhelming, my wife loved how tart their dressing was. For the entree I got the Pecan Crusted Salmon which was an outstanding blending of flavors with the fish, pecans and coulis. My wife got the Chicken Picatta and really liked the dish but thought the sauce could use a little more zest. We finished the meal by splitting a slice of tarimisu that we enjoyed. Overall the service was good but there was a long wait between finishing our meal a getting our check (10+ min), in which our waitress came in and out of the room three times ignoring us.

It's my first time eating here and everything was outstanding. The food was so delicious. I recommend the mango shrimp ceviche appetizer. So delicious 😋 The service was great, and our server did an awesome job. Will definitely be coming back.

We waited 10-15 min for our drink order to be taken and and then another 5 to receive them. They were short staffed though you could tell, the waitress was extremely nice, you could tell she was just stretched thin. The food for the price was high conpared to how poorly it was made and of poor quality, we both got the surf and turf, the steak was $10 quality and the lobster was overcooked and rubbery unfortunately.. Great view, poor food, won't return

Food was really good and service was fast after they could get to us. It's a somewhat busy place, so prepare to wait a minute. The server was very nice, and with our crazy ass child that needed a nap, she was very patient. My only 2 complaints were the hard seats and the mean mugging boomers. All good though.

Today was our first time & it was highly recommended by some people we met that said it was amazing… which it was! The atmosphere was great, well lit(lots of windows) with beautiful decorations! The food was delicious & affordable but the best was our outstanding service from Joceline! What a sweetie & so polite! We will definitely be returning to this place! Thank you 🥰🙏

Great place with great food. I would give it 5 stars across the board, but it can get loud at times. The shrimp basket is fantastic and always one of my favorites. The fish is wonderful also. We always go to Dirty Al's when in Brownsville or South Padre Island.

Helpful and friendly staff. The ceviche with homemade chips was fantastic. Both fish and shrimp tacos were delicious and not dry or overcooked. Hush puppies were a pleasant surprise, way better than expected! The whole experience was legit. Great job!

Stopped in on a Friday evening on our way to SPI. Had a delicious meal, Ceviche was fresh and served promptly. Also enjoyed a 4 meat plate with fresh coleslaw and hush puppies. All the items were flavorful and enjoyed every bit. Carlos, our server was great help. Recommend you try it.

Stop by for a late lunch. Felt great to get out of the heat. The sweet tea really hit the spot. I ordered the special, breaded shrimp with a side of fries and coleslaw. The shrimp were good but what really caught my attention was the cocktail sauce. It was very good. I drenched all of my shrimps in it including the fries. My goal now is to replicate that sauce. The price for the special was just as good. Thanks Tortugos…

Had dinner at Los Tortugos in Port Isabel, South Padre, and it was a seafood feast to remember. From mouthwatering platters loaded with fresh catches to a just-caught red snapper grilled like a dream, every bite was pure bliss. The lively vibes made the night even better, highly recommend if you’re ready to treat your taste buds.

Stopped in for fish tacos on a Sunday. The place was crazy busy but we were texted when our table was ready, which was nice. Fish tacos were spectacular! Full of flavor and good portions. Toppings were plentiful and sides (beans / rice) were flavorful. Also got a shrimp and fish ceviche, which was very good. Great acidity and adequate portion sizes, even for sharing. Be aware that the restaurant can be very noisy inside though, but don't let that deter you from some killer fish tacos!

Order the ceviche with fish, shrimp and calamari it is delicious! I’m a lime addict meaning I have to squeeze so many limes to my ceviche but here I don’t have to. The intense flavor of lime on the ceviche is fantastic. This is the only ceviche I’ve ever had that tastes this good. This place is a restaurant and a seafood market. If you are headed to beach and would like to pick up ceviche to go. You can pick it up next door at the seafood market. I recommend everyone to give this place a try.

We were on the island for the weekend chrome in the sand event and wanted to try a good seafood restaurant. It took them a minute to seat us. They do give you chips and a little soup while you wait for your food to arrive. For appetizer we got the oysters on the half shell which I dressed up. Oysters were great! It was a Friday so the seafood soup was on the board which I ordered and it was filled with so much seafood it was amazing! My boyfriend ordered the number 4 plate with fish, shrimp, oysters, and calamari. His plate was very delicious also. His plate was fresh fried so he gave me some to taste and the calamari was so good I wish we ordered some for the appetizer. They have a fresh seafood market there you can buy your fish and they will cook it as well. I highly recommend this place. Next time we come again to the area we are going again to this quaint local restaurant.

Isabel's Cafe is a charming local spot in South Padre that offers delicious homemade food at affordable prices. Despite its small size and limited parking, the cafe's cozy atmosphere and flavorful dishes make it a popular choice for both locals and tourists. The family-owned restaurant prides itself on friendly service and hot, tasty meals. While some visitors note longer wait times and smaller portions, many appreciate the authentic feel of this hidden gem.
This place was a gem we were lucky to find a table at. Despite it being busy, the service we had was great and the server answered the few questions that we had. It’s like a family owned place that serves mouth watering authentic Mexican food. The parking situation is a bit rough though. We started with the queso that had a hint of spice that kept you coming back. The kids ordered a breakfast taco that despite its simplicity, was quite delicious and was huge. The Mexican plate #3 had everything one could want: enchiladas, tacos, and a chalupa with rice and beans, but reminded me of a tostada. Everything we ordered had layers of flavor, texture, and tasted like an abuela made the dish specifically for you. Lastly, the table salsa was the perfect complement to every dish! Should we return to the area, we will certainly be back.

First thing I see when I sit down at table #4. A cockroach just walking the wall back and forth. Lemonade is okay. Food is okay, the tortilla was not fully cooked and didn’t have much food in it, pancake was also undercooked overall the atmosphere is not good. Needs to be exterminated asap!!

Great CUSTOMER SERVICE. I walked into this small cafe thinking they would serve sea food but all Mexican food. The Taco 🌮 plate with the frijoles and sopa were amazing . Very inexpensive. I was amazed at the $$$$. The service was great. They treated me like a local so pleasant and friendly. Small downfall is that it’s somewhat at a corner and it has limited parking. Amazing Mexican frijoles . ❤️🖤🤘🏼

It's closed on Thursdays. Parking is chaotic to be kind. The wait times can be insanely long! Nice pick if you wanna stay off the island. The staff are incredibly polite and professional. The inside maybe could use some maintenance (TLC). It's definitely showing it's 50yrs of business The breakfast, although plentiful, was a bit bland for a family owned Mexican restaurant here in the lower RGV. I've been passing this restaurant for years. First time actually stopping.. Not sure about coming back.

Very little food for what you are paying. Ordered the big tacos and got not fully cooked burrito sized tortillas with only a bit of potato and egg, wouldn’t even fill a regular sized taco. The service was alright, very nice but for the size of the restaurant they really don’t come by and check to see if you need anything or ask how the meal is. Very nice cute little place but won’t be returning on my next visit down here

We decided to come check this place out after reading all the great reviews. Food did not disappoint. It was very homemade and the flour tortillas were the on point. The portions are kind of small but I don't eat a lot so it wasn't a problem for me. My kids were still hungry though. It wait time was long and getting the food took a while also. The service was alright, could have been better. I think the restaurant needs more staff for its size.

We used to summer in SPI from the 80's and 90's. Been coming here since then. They have the BEST homemade flour tortillas I've ever had! The best salsa! (Might need a bit more hotness) Prices are spot on and almost always packed. I even order tortillas to go, to snack on later.

The Burger Shack & Beer Garden is a delightful little establishment in Texas that offers delectable cuisine, excellent customer service, and a variety of delicious options for vegans and plant-based eaters. It can be quite challenging to find a satisfactory salad or vegan dish in the area, but this place truly hits the mark. One can order their satisfying #12 meal which includes a mouthwatering portobello burger accompanied by scrumptious golden sweet potato fries.
Delicious cheeseburgers, very fresh and yummy! not greasy at all! Which is a big deal for me. Many options … Was a little disappointed they did not have unsweet tea … just lots of sweet beverage options! Seems to be like it would be easier to make unsweet tea… and people could control how much sugar they put in… I switched to water. Cute place, been here a long time. Will go back! Delicious food!

I have been a customer of this little shack of restaurant since they opened 10+ years ago. Never disappointed in their food despite its curb appeal. This shack stands out from the more appealing tourist attractions and shops as it is built in-between two obviously separate buildings. The welcoming atmosphere and hustle of the women behind the counter is very reminiscent of your grandmother's kitchen; complete with one of the best burgers in the area.
Crystal L — Google review
I never write reviews but this place just really upset me. Burger Shack is a shell of what it once was under this new management. This place used to be a jewel of port Isabel offering delicious burgers and good island vibes. And now? You’re walking into a filthy and soulless restaurant. You can tell the only thing the new owners saw when they opened this place was dollar bills because they have cheaped out on everything while hiking up the prices. You used to walk into this burger joint listening to island appropriate classic rock and now you hear cholo rap blasting from the kitchen. If that’s your vibe… go for it. There is flies everywhere and you can see the lack of proper hygiene in the kitchen. The food is really lackluster. The burger patties are dry. They’re lacking in seasoning. The fries taste of freezer burn. I once made the mistake of ordering nachos here and it was the biggest mistake I’ve ever made in my life. They microwaved the nachos before handing them to me causing the cheese to harden and taste like plastic. I have never seen a restaurant fail at making a dish a child can make! This place is a stain on port Isabel and is only there so they can profit off of your hard earned money. Soulless and no passion. Just greed and filth. They completely ruined the legacy of the elderly couple who used to manage this place. Stay away. Give your business to the hard working people of Port Isabel and SPI not these mosquitos.

Burgers were juicy and seasoned to perfection. I’m not a burger person but the food was excellent and the service was great. Super friendly atmosphere. The front of the restaurant is tricky to the eye but just go in and let the ladies know your there and they will invite you into the open seating area located in the back and also a closed area for those who need a bit more chill while dining.

It's a shack with burgers. The 2 employees made the food to order. It's not all fancy, I mean the name tells you... It's a burger shack. The burgers are made fresh and had flavor. The fries are seasoned. The patio is just tables with chairs, but they do have a small room with A/C next to the bathroom if it's too hot for you. The food is good, but don't expect comfort in the patio if you're used to a fast food chain type of style. It's not 5 guys, it's not in and out, it's not checkers, etc...it's a burger made in a shack with a patio of random chairs, a sun shade, and some fans. Yes, it's outdoors, so you'll have flies. Again, it's a burger shack, just enjoy the burger.

Expected more from an almost 4 star rated restaurant. Chips looked good but no salsa or anything to dip them in. Menu was ok, but came with very little description and no sides. The beans and rice I paid extra for with my meal were about 2 tablespoons at best. The condiments on the table were bland at best. Shrimp po-boy was not edible and fries overcooked. Mexiquito Restaurant is a typical Mexican eatery located on Trevino and Hwy 100 in Port Isabel. It offers delicious, authentic breakfast options with freshly brewed coffee. The atmosphere is cozy and family-friendly, with quick and helpful service. The restaurant is ADA friendly and clean, although it has only one restroom available. The food is well-seasoned and reasonably priced, featuring homemade tortillas that are highly recommended to take home.
A true hidden gem in an unassuming restaurant. Words cannot describe how fantastic the breakfast burritos are here, easily the best we’ve ever had and our mouths are watering typing this out. From the sheer size of the breakfast burritos to the flavors, everything is fantastic and beyond what we ever could've hoped for stopping by here. The parking situation is not great as there’s not many spots around the side, but figure out how to get in here if you can. The staff is extremely friendly and the interior is clean. We ordered a sausage and cheese burrito; chorizo, egg, and cheese burrito; and a cheese quesadilla. Every single thing was out of this world. We could write again how great the breakfast burritos are, but we recommend you just go and try it. By far one of the best hidden gems we have found in the state of Texas. Make the trip, it’s worth it.

⭐ One star for the salsa, and that’s being generous. Look, I try to support local spots, especially ones with a name like Mexiquito—sounds like a little flavor fiesta, right? Wrong. It was more like a flavor siesta… because we had plenty of time to nap during the wait. We walked in, party of two. You’d think we were a table of twelve with how long it took to be served. I swear I saw a table sit down, age five years, and get a senior discount before anyone noticed we existed. Now let’s talk coffee. My cup had been emptier than a politician's promise for thirty minutes. When the waitress finally popped over and asked if I needed more, I hit her with a quick “yes please!” like it was a coffee emergency (which it was). She nodded, disappeared into the land of broken dreams, and never came back. But here’s the kicker: another waitress strutted around the restaurant like the Coffee Fairy, offering fresh refills to every. single. table. except ours. I watched her skip us like we were on the do-not-serve list. I even tried waving my cup like I was flagging down a rescue helicopter. Nothing. Nada. Zip. And the cleanliness? Oh boy. Tables were being “cleaned” with a yellow towel that looked like it had been through three pandemics and a small kitchen fire. No disinfectant. Just a greasy little smear and a prayer. So if you're into long waits, forgotten caffeine, and bacterial roulette—Mexiquito is your spot! Otherwise, maybe hit a gas station microwave burrito. It’s faster, hotter, and probably comes with more respect.
Sabin L — Google review
First thing that we find very attractive is the friendly service, small talk, laughing. As we proceed the next test is the coffee… 5⭐️☕️. Then we move on to the breakfast choice, Chilaquiles con wuevos, refried beans, hasbrowns. Ohh that salsa is spicy and very fresh. Eggs scrambled to perfection and the beans took me back to mamas 🏡. Delicious. We chose this place after seeing a TikTok video where they served enormous tacos, no kidding they did have that but the serving of Chilaquiles looked more appetizing, soon we will try the Giant Taco. Make this your next mom/pop restaurant pit stop on your way in/out of Port Isabel/Padre Island.
Ann-jel-ika — Google review
This place was so packed when we arrived around 12 pm on a Saturday. Food was good, tortillas are home made and soft. They have a good selection of meals on the menu. My only concern was the waiting time. We waited about 45 minutes for a table then over half an hour for our food to arrive.
Judith P — Google review
One of the Best Mexican breakfast. Food takes longer to be served because it’s all makes from scratch. Big portions are served. You must try the homemade flour tortillas. It is super big and delicious. The chilaquiles were little bit spicy but so delicious. When you come to South Padre Island, you must force a stop at Port Isabel to eat here. I read comments about the American breakfast served here. We didn’t order any of that so I can not provide feedback on that price. If you are looking for genuine Mexican food for a great price come here. If you want American food, you may want to look somewhere else. There is only 1 restroom for both men/ women and it’s clean also. I would definitely come back.

I visited with a group of veterans recently and had an amazing experience. After a 2.5 mile ruck to benefit the P.I. Food Pantry, we were in need of some comfort food to recover with. This place definitely delivered. The servers were amazing, as was the food. A large group of veterans can get a little, the servers kept pace and then some. Overall, it was a great experience. NO LONGER THE SAME! I recently went to White Sands restaurant in Port Isabel and I could not have been more disappointed. I had been there several times before, but the last time I went was a little over a year ago and it was completely different. I ordered the fish and shrimp special (on a Friday) thinking that it would be like it was the last time I was there. However, I was shocked when they brought out the tiniest basket with the tiniest portion of food I could imagine. The two tiny fish fillets were about 1 X 2 inches each and the 4 so-called jumbo shrimp were not exactly very jumbo. I mentioned to the waitress how small the portion was (in comparison to the last time I was there), and she just rolled her eyes and walked away. I literally finished this "meal" in a about 3 minutes and got out of there fast after they took my eleven dollars! Also, the taste of the little bit of food I got was very bland- not much flavor at all to any of it! Immediately after leaving this place, I went to the nearest Jack-in-the-Box and ordered a fish sandwich (among other things) for $2.99 and it was EXACTLY the same size as both of the fish fillets at White Sands combined!! I will definitely not ever go back to this place! Such a shame that they no longer care about their customers! By the way, of course they have larger portions if you do not mind spending 30 dollars for lunch. If you are not on any kind of budget, then by all means give them your money, but for me, this will be my last time at this place. There are plenty of other restaurants to choose from.

We booked a kitchenette for an extended stay as my husband is working at SpaceX, the rooms are not what they show on website they are absolutely filthy rundown; extremely outdated and roach infested, they only offer cleaning once a week, location and other patrons are loud and inconsiderate and the staff is absolutely hateful. The sink in the bathroom was stopped up and they refused to fix it, water pressure is terrible and there was at least a years worth of dirt caked around all of the baseboards, grubby fingerprints all over and food staining all of the cabinets. Oh and the mini split A/C didnt work in 90 degree weather. There was consistent mariachi music and people partying. When we asked about reserved parking near our room the receptionist brushed us off and the next morning we woke up to a suspicious leak in our back driver tire. My husband is working nights and we were rudely woke up nearly every day by staff banging on door. We were loudly awoken and informed we had to leave because the main lady booked our room out from under us despite us telling her from the beginning we would be a long term stay. When we confronted her about it she told us we didn't tell her we had intended to stay long term, despite us doing just that every occasion we spoke to her. So we were pushed out when my husband was suppose to be resting and had to quickly find another place. The low price is there for a reason this place and service is the worst I have ever experienced. If you're a fan of mariachi music, dirt, and terrible attitudes stay but if you prefer country music, cleanliness and a good attitude do not stay! The only reason we looked past all of the above was because it allowed us to cook for ourselves instead of relying on fast food. I only put one star because it wouldn't let me put zero. Spend a little more money and go elsewhere.

El Buen Pescador is a must-visit for authentic Mexican cuisine in the area. Visitors can also explore other dining options such as Rincon Veracruz and Mexiquito for a taste of local flavors. For those looking to bring home some delicious tortillas, El Valle Tortilla Factory offers fluffy, powdery tortillas that are simply irresistible.
I went here with my family after looking for a seafood spot online and I was not disappointed. The food was incredibly fresh and the service was excellent. It's a fairly lowkey spot and I believe its family owned so felt relaxed. We ordered the the family seafood platter with a mix of shrimp and fish with all three flavours they offered. Everything tasted delicious. Their Hibiscus drink was great too. Special mention to the desserts that we got to go - Tres Leches one of the best ive had and the choco-flan was very loved by my family too. Highly recommend this spot :)

This was my first time going here, and it was ok. The alligator information session was great! The guy had an engaging personality and really knew about alligators. I saw the big gator in the pond. I walked the whole path that surrounded the center but didn't really see much worth mentioning. There is a water treatment plant that was kind of interesting. Employees were nice and friendly.

I almost hesitate to tell people about this one. It's not a great looking place. Folding tables and folding chairs in a bland galley dining room with some great food. Don't tell anyone about the Chicken Tortilla Soup or they may start charging more! The unlimited fish - Amazing!
Richard E — Google review
I love it there!!! Their 13.99 all you can eat buffet is awesome. The taste is great. The garlic shrimp/fish is my favorite. Their agua de Jamaica is bomb!!! Overall I super recommend this place.
Perla L — Google review
The food was very good, but when we first walked in no one greeted us. We had to walk across the restaurant to ask if we could sit ourselves or wait. I ordered all you can eat fish and shrimp and after the second plate. Our waitress did not come back to the table. Very disappointed, because the food was delicious.
Brandun R — Google review
This is a small restaurant, not for big crowds. I must say, the staff and food were so good here. I wanted to come back after eating the shrimp Tacos because I made a mistake and was going for the fish tacos. I got half grilled and half fried. All were on corn tortilla which was fine, it made it bearable with holding the taco and it's very loaded! The sauce for it was delicious as well.
KR N — Google review
I was the only one for late lunch. AYCE ( all you can eat) Shrimp. The plate stayed loaded too. I've tried them all and this is hands down THE BEST.
Jay G — Google review
The food and hospitality at this place are absolutely excellent. The fish and shrimp deal is really amazing. This place definitely lacks curb appeal and the styrofoam plates aren't ideal (although possibly a sensible COVID friendly option) but once you can get over the aesthetics, it really is worth a visit. Don't forget the delicious desserts which are offered at incredible prices!

El Papa's is a Mexican restaurant that offers exceptionally tasty cuisine. The only drawback some customers have mentioned is the slight waiting time for breakfast, ranging from 20 to 30 minutes. However, the staff at El Papa's are known for their friendliness and they sincerely apologize for any delays. Breakfast options include delicious tacos and coffee, while lunchtime favorites often revolve around the cheese enchilada plate.
The food and customer service were great. I highly recommend coming here. Everything looks and tastes fresh. (You have to try their oat meal!)

Excellent food—very reasonably priced. Perfect if you’re going to or coming back from SPI and looking for a more local flavor and attitude. Just down the road from the bridge in the quiet section of Port Isabel. I especially enjoyed the veggie omelet with cheese; beans, and hash browns. Very friendly staff, and a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere with plenty of tables and seating. A wide selection of breakfast and lunch dishes—both American and Mexican favorites. Daily specials too. The only reason I gave a four star and not a five is that the building and interior could use some updating - but otherwise 5 stars.

This place is a bit out of the way, and ain’t tryna be fancy. But what it is is great food at a reasonable price with great waitstaff and HUGE portions! Our breakfast burritos took up a whole platter. Not a plate. A platter. We both took half back to the condo. Don’t forget to ask for the spicy green salsa!
Travis S — Google review
We were a group of 6 on a Saturday morning and the staff was very accommodating and attentive. The con Todo taco with beans, egg, potato, ham, chorizo, and cheese was the ultimate taco. You have to order it! They serve barbacoa on Saturday's and it too was loved, and very lean.
Tammy J — Google review
This is such a hidden gem! The food is AMAZING and it’s homemade to order! It’s family owned and operated and an INCREDIBLE Christian based business! If you are in the area, Definitely check them out!

I found El Papa's through a TripAdvisor search this morning. I was looking for something different for breakfast. Looking at the menu I couldn't decide what I wanted and asked about the Contodo, the waitress assured me it was good. It wasn't good...it was DELICIOUS as it was massive. I couldn't finish it all but I was glad I tried it. Staff was friendly, very prompt. Seemed like they have regular patrons that come there for breakfast and conversation which I loved listening to. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast and will come back the next time I vacation in SPI.

Whataburger is a fast-food chain from the 1950s known for its counter-serve burgers, some of which are stacked with multiple patties. This establishment not only offers delicious burgers but also prides itself on providing exceptional customer service and employing kind and helpful staff members. One satisfied customer described how after a long drive, they were pleasantly surprised to receive their Whataburger meal for free when both of their cards were declined.
I was doing something at Port Isabel, so me and my family stopped at this Whataburger, and the food is really good, service was great, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The #13 chicken strip combo I got was delicious (attached is a photo of it). This is one of the really great Whataburger locations.
Matthew G — Google review
After fishing on the pier for a while my husband and I wanted a quick drink and snack before heading back to our hotel. Well picking Whataburger was a MISTAKE. We ordered 2 large fries a half sweet and unsweet tea and a coke with easy ice. We pulled up to the 2nd window and got our drink then were told to pull up. My tea was hot and had no ice at all. Then we proceeded to WAIT FOR 30 MINUTES!!!!! While waiting we watched several cars behind us get food. Then the person in front of us and the person beside us. We were still waiting! Then a lady came out and asked for the name of our order. After that our cashier was handing another car behind us the order when asking what the hold up was we got “what did y’all have?” Finally our fries came out but they were not even hot. SOGGY AND ROOM TEMP! So what was the 30 minute wait for??? Got back to the hotel and the fries are two different sizes. What a joke.
Ashley G — Google review
My went into the restroom before placing my order, the sinks had hairs all over. I got out and placed an order over the drive thru. It was a very long wait. I received my order with toppings that I specifically asked not to be added. The chicken was burnt. I had to ask the guy for my receipt twice. I he didn’t even give me a cup holder till I asked for it. I called and spoke to Jose “the manager”. I explained that I drove 30 mins from and to their location. I asked for a refund and he said he had to see the burger. I offered to text him a picture or that he could face time me. He didn’t want to do either. He kept saying “I’m taking my time to hear you out ma’am I want to help you” yet he kept talking over me the whole time and didn’t seem to understand that I was 30 mins away. Horrible horrible! Worst customer service ever!! This is the chicken after I tried so much to remove the burnt skin. I gave up and left it like that. Here is your physical evidence Jose! This is an addition to my review called back twice after leaving the review and the so called manager Jose is refusing to take my calls!

We ate here on September 11,2025. Restaurant was clean inside and out including the restrooms. Employees were very nice and working hard. Burgers were fresh but a little dry. Recommend a little mayo or sauce.
Peggy L — Google review
Took 15 min to get my food while they repeatedly asked me if I had it under another name. Then proceeded not to hand me a drink til I after I got my food. Usually I get a free item like a pue or something for waiting after my wait time. Y nada. No apologies tampoco. 0 stars if I could.
Alvaro N — Google review
Waited for over 20 minutes for our order and it never arrived, as well as requested if the coffee machine could be refilled because we paid for coffees yet still no refill either even tho they said they'd refill. My sister got her eyes rolled at simply for asking. Others who came after us also got their orders before us so we've decided to simply ask for a refund. All in all horrible experience sadly. I tried to be understanding but the manager herself told us they dropped our order because "more important orders came in." I dont really know how someone else's order is more important when we're all simply costumers; yet they were extremely rude to us, specifically the manager of the place. Never got an apology either, just dismissed. 0/10 experience, they could do better with choosing who's manager that knows how to do their job and run their coworkers. I dont recommened going because someone else's order may be more important than yours to the point they cancel your order.
Pau Z — Google review
It took 50 minutes to get our order. It was too busy, which is not their fault, but it didn't seem like there was a manager and they weren't truly hustling. Some orders got skipped and people were upset. The outside line was going way faster than the orders inside. Solution...be ready for summer and holidays.
Priscilla C — Google review
Stopped for a late night whataburger meal and were told to wait. Robert took initiative to re-receive our order after the previous employee stepped out for a moment and brought our food promptly after. Really happy with that experience, thank you Robert!

Tropical Smoothie Cafe is a health-conscious chain that offers a variety of custom smoothies, sandwiches, and wraps. Located in South Padre Island, this cafe provides a refreshing break with its wide selection of classic and superfood smoothies. In addition to seafood options, the menu includes tasty chicken flatbreads, wraps, quesadillas, veggie bowls, and grilled chicken salad bowls. The smoothies are made with quality ingredients and come in bold flavors like Island Green and Sunrise Sunset.
Tropical tastes even on a frigid day here in Padre. Flatbreads, salads, wraps and sandwiches, smoothies, bowls, and sweets offer something for everyone. We both dove in head first to a double order of the acai bowl and were not disappointed. Its variety of fruits- strawberry, blueberry, banana-and texture from granola, coconut and chia seeds, all pulled together with a drizzle of honey quenched our desire for a filling, healthy lunch that wouldn’t weigh us down for our afternoon of sightseeing. My only regret was that it didn’t come in more than one size. Conveniently located near all the hotels and resorts. We’d definitely return! Come try them for yourself.

I stood at the register for 5 min no one acknowledged me, they were kind of busy so I guess. I decided to order online and save them the trouble, only to see them attend the person who walked in right after I sat down to order online. Sat there for 25 min before walking up to the register to ask about my order, only to get a visibility long sigh from one of the employees before politely asking if I need anything. I asked about my order and he pulled it out of the freezer where it was being kept cold. Overall felt like my family and I weren't wanted there. They weren't rude but totally ignored me. Drinks were good, could have been mixed a little better but were what I ordered at least. I recommend online ordering, and drive through. 08/01/25 @ 2:45pm

Best place to have awesome smoothies. Great friendly staff. Good ambiance. Must try avocado toast and humus veggie, The food is of great quality and it’s reasonably priced. If you are in town, check this place out. Highly recommend ❤️

Not sure what the deal was with this online order, but this is my only experience with this location. I ordered a banana as a side, and they put a dark brown and opened banana in the bag. See photo. Didn’t see it until I got home. This seems like an intentional act of bad service, so I will never be back. Wrap was poorly made too. Don’t bother with this place.

This bahama mama bowl is amazing!!! The staff was so kind too. The wind blew the first one on the ground and they were so kind to remake it for me. Best service ever! The Santa Fe chicken dilla was yummy too. All the smoothies we got as well were very yummy!

I’ve never dined in, only through drive through but honestly everytime it’s always been good service. I like that sometimes I can use coupons. The smoothies are good just that it’s kinda overpriced.

Unassuming location with good food and better service. Try the all you can eat fish for about 15 at time of post, or fish and shrimp for about 20. There was one style that looked like enchilada by name. It had a reddish sauce and was great! I had a great waitress.

Small kind of hole in the wall restaurant. Parking is easy to access, right off the main road. The service was good. The chip salsa was delicious. I had a fish plate with rice and veggies. The fish was a little bit salty but it was good.

Great service.

Ordered the all you can eat but only able to do seconds. Regular shrimp plate is a good portion which is what my brother in law ordered... Either way you can't go wrong. My 105 lb wife was able to get through a third plate of shrimp. Food was good and I would go back my next time around.

Pizza Hut is a well-known chain that offers pizza, wings, and pasta for delivery, carry-out, and dine-in. They also have a variety of sides and desserts. Their online ordering system is user-friendly and easy to use. Customers can even call the location to confirm their order, where they will encounter agreeable customer service representatives who provide accurate delivery time frames. However, some customers found the taste of the food to be lacking in flavor but still edible.
I was over the moon impressed with a pepperoni thin and crispy pizza that I just picked up right now to go. The pizza literally looked like the one in commercials. It’s was a perfect pizza with the perfect amount of tomato sauce and cheese. I love tomato sauce and they did a phenomenal job. Thank you Pizza Hut for a great chef.

If I could give a lower score I would…. Pizza arrived in a timely manner but seemed like it had sat under a heat lamp for over and hour… Worst Pizza Hut I’ve ever had….. this was suppose to be a pan pizza, dried out and hardly and cheese on it. The box wasn’t even greasy, come on man !!! Do better…

I've had a few bad experiences here, but keep hoping they'll get better. Nope. I ordered through the app yesterday for curbside. The last 2 times I have had to go inside and still wait even though the app says my order is ready. Curbside does not even exist. It looks like only one person is working, the place is filthy, smells like a sewer, and my pizza seemed like it was reheated, burnt and dry. I've already put this on the surveys they send me, but nothing has changed. I guess the owner doesn't care about their business. What a shame.
Bob- L — Google review
Came in at 11pm so the place was empty. Food came out in a timely manner... Our server was nice but never really checked up on us for refills. We did check for the fountain drinks machine but there wasn't one available to the public.... That being said we ordered a supreme and classic pizza, and chicken alfredo pasta. Pizzas looked like they were microwaved rather than prepare fresh. Surpreme pizza had an after taste like whoever handled the food had just finished gutting fish and didn't wash their hands. The pasta also that the fishy after taste, also hot in the edges, luke warm in the center... sorry to say, but will not be coming back. A serious inspection is needed for this place.
