Nature & Wildlife Areas
The Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas offers a unique experience for wildlife enthusiasts. The center features a boardwalk and tower that provide panoramic views of the surrounding area, allowing visitors to observe birds, alligators, and fish up close. This attraction is part of the Port Aransas Nature Preserve, which includes protected natural sites such as Charlies Pasture and Wetland Park. Visitors can catch glimpses of unique local bird species and even spot alligators in the nearby waterways.
Great place to see shorebirds and other migratory birds. They have made big improvements to the walking path. It’s now cement. Good place to hike as well as birdwatch. Parking is very limited but it looks like they be adding more soon.
Ralph G — Google review
This place is absolutely amazing - even when it's in the 90s and the humidity is in the 70s. Way too hot and very little shade. We saw Ibis, Stilts, Coot, Laughing Gulls, Herons (the tri-color!), Gallinules, Roseate Spoonbill, Egrets, and lots of other birds. There weren't too many folks there so it was nice. It is right next to the landfill (was it built on the landfill?!), so a little stinky - but amazing. I would make it a place to go if you are a birder. If you just want to walk it has nice wooden piers and paths. A calm place in the backwaters!
J R — Google review
Great views of wet lands and birds Cranes, Herons, Pelicans. No dogs allowed, even if being carried dogs are not allowed on boardwalks. Per their website: The following is prohibited by City ordinance within the Port Aransas Nature Preserve: hunting, fishing (allowed only in the ship channel), shell or seed collecting, camping, pets, and alcohol.
Winter B — Google review
The birding center is a nice place to quietly observe the birds, take pictures, observe, and reflect. I recommend planning a visit to anyone looking for a unique activity in nature. You can spend 15 minutes or hours depending on your level of interest. There is no entry fee, but donations are welcome via a small box located at the start of the walking area. The only thing to be aware of is that the center is located right next to the waste water management so there is a smell. It was not overwhelming for me, but it might be for some.
Hiba M — Google review
This is always the highlight of my trip! A visit to the birding center. Its just stunning! The variety of winter birds in particular. Oh! Those gorgeous white pelicans! The variety is stunning! And we got to enjoy the monarch migration to port Aransas last week. The board walk out into the wetland area, raised decks for additional viewing.
Bonnie F — Google review
This is a beautiful natural preserve at the end of a long curving road to the right of the ferry landing at Aransas Pass. It is a good place for birders. I saw a pelican, flamingo, egrets, ibis ducks, barn swallows, and great tailed grackles. There are two long boardwalks with observation towers. It is a peaceful place to take pictures.
Annette O — Google review
Tons of birds and other wildlife. See if you can spot Boots the Gator!! Its definitely much longer than I was expecting, but we had a blast and have already been back several times.
Irish D — Google review
Absolutely amazing place for bird lovers! In addition to many well familiar birds, I saw a Flamingo and Ani!

History Museums
Nestled in a charming kit house dating back to the early 1900s, the Port Aransas Museum serves as a vibrant hub for regional history and preservation. Originally one of Texas's most endangered structures when it was donated in 2007, this beautifully renovated museum now showcases an array of permanent exhibits that delve into the rich cultural tapestry of Port Aransas.
A great place to learn the history of the island, some insight into the lights for lighthouses, and the story behind the wooden Farley boata. The Docent was very knowledgeable, hospitable and had a great balance of giving us an overview with some details and allowing us the opportunity to self explore while being present for questions. I highly recommend!
Shelly H — Google review
Went to tour the Chapel on the Dunes..disappointing that you make reservations and they cram in others that walk in.. also wanted to leave a tip so need a jar at the Chapel for donations.
Pamela B — Google review
Although just 2 rooms and a gift shop on the ground floor of a small house, it was a great way to learn about Port Aransas history (free but leave a donation at the log book).Took maybe 30 minutes but the person working there this particular afternoon provided us with much more information and stories. Worth the stop!
N F — Google review
This is a must when visiting this town for the first time. We met a lady who was raised here who told us stories of the locals as she walked us through the museum. Fun information to learn. While you’re in Port A you will see a bunch of boat planters in front of people’s houses and businesses that pay tribute to the oldest boat maker on the island. It would make a great hide & seek game for kids.
Di L — Google review
Cool place! Lots of history to learn about and I’ll be back to look through the archives when I have extra time! I had a good laugh with the volunteers working, neat lil place! Josh
J M — Google review
Great museum for the population of this town. We've been coming to Port A for 50 years, and now we're really learning about the jetties, getting questions answered about the history. The director and volunteers are long PA residents and business owners as well as historians. It is just as interesting to ask them questions about this great little town.
Kathy M — Google review
A Great way to learn some early family history of my DIL's family from the 1840's in early Texas history in Port Aransas area. The Port Aransas historian was really helpful as he was a neighbor of my daughter inlaw who grew up in Port Aransas and knew so much local history and her family and many other families from the Island. What an adventure of hardships and perseverance for those early Texas settlers to today.
Larry B — Google review
Met here Saturday morning to take a tour of the Chapel on the Dunes. Very knowledgeable staff showed a short video at the museum before our trip to the chapel. Tiny Chapel from the 1930's that has beautiful painted interior.

Park
Roberts Point Park is a 50-acre waterfront park located in Port Aransas, offering various amenities and activities for visitors. The park features a pavilion that hosts fishing tournaments, family reunions, and community events. Additionally, the Patsy Jones Amphitheater presents live music concerts and regional festival performances. With an observation tower overlooking the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, visitors can enjoy watching dolphins as they interact with passing cargo ships.
Really cool park!!! So many things to look at and play on. My husband pointed out the lighthouse slide, so cool!!! There’s slides, a giant turtle to stand on, a zip line, swing especially for babies and children, picnic tables (with shade), and the coolest of all the lighthouse slide. Most of the playground has the soft surface for kids. And sprayer stations to keep you cool
Amelia A — Google review
Bathrooms were Very clean, 3 stalls in the women’s… 2 locations right in the park. Well lit, beautiful white mosaic sequence floor and walls. Really thoughtfully designed space. It’s inviting and not creepy like most of the beach bathrooms in town. There are filtered water hydration stations at the front of each bathroom where we filled up our kettles to boil water for our cup ramen which was perfect as there are tables and covered areas aplenty here. Tons of parking. Just a great little place to hang out. Wish our kids were young again, as the playground looked awesome and super clean. They’ve spent a ton of money on this park. There are boats docked around, you can see the ferry and pirate cruises go by. It’s just a perfect place for a respite
Sharon R — Google review
Our 1st time visiting... we drove a distance but was worth it. The park is incredible. My kids and I enjoyed it. The free dolphin watch experience though was our favorite. This is definitely a must visit place for locals and tourists. An experience for the entire family. Did I mention its free!!!?
Love A — Google review
Great park! So much fun for the kids. They have a cooking mist that helps with the heat. Great place to dolphin watch, there were so many out there. Amazing!
Lucy O — Google review
My husband and I enjoyed sitting and fishing at the waters edge. We watched the barges come in as well as the private boats. The dolphins were very active. They are so fun to watch. The pelicans were so busy diving into the water to catch their meals. We had a sand piper that came close to our sitting area. We appreciated having clean bathrooms close. We fished on the pier one night. Mostly,we sat on the granite blocks.
Sue M — Google review
Great location to view the dolphins playing in the wake from the ferry and the ships that pass. Sometimes they come up to the sea wall and the fishing pier! Plenty of parking marina access, fish cleaning station, bathrooms, play ground updated in 2025, grassy area to run and play ( throw foot ball , kick around a soccer ball) it’s FREE!!! No charge to park , or play , no charges to fish - you do need a license to fish the pass waters.
Shae F — Google review
Quiet area to watch boats and marine life. Pier for fishing and benches to sit in the shade. Rocks big enough to walk and sit on if you wanted to sit closer to the water. Playground for the kids.
Nicole ( — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wow, what an unexpected gem at Robert’s Point Park! We were sent here by the lovely folks at the front desk of our White Cap hotel, and let me tell you, this place blew us away! Who knew you could spot wild dolphins swimming right in front of you at a Texas port? It was like they were putting on a show just for us—flipping and splashing so close we could almost high-five them! 🐬 And that’s not all—we also saw tons of sea turtles gliding through the water. The best part? No need to shell out big bucks to see dolphins trapped in a pool. This is nature at its finest, and we’re still buzzing from the experience! Highly recommend this spot for any nature-loving traveler looking for a delightful surprise. 🌊✨

Outdoor Activities
Port Aransas Beach, located on Mustang Island and affectionately known as "Port A," is a 6-mile stretch of sandy coastline that offers a variety of activities for locals and visitors alike. This beloved family beach town has made a remarkable recovery from Hurricane Harvey in 2017, making it an inviting destination for surfing, swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking at sunset.
Good place for Families, you need to buy parking permit which are available on the gas stations available on the access road 1A. If you want to park for free the search for Dunes Condominium where you will get free parking , but on weekends it’s difficult, no deep water so good for kids (attention always required) good for new swimmers, life guards available till 6pm you can drive on the beach
Umesh D — Google review
My favorite beach, love that you can build a fire other beach and drive right up on it in some places! Other areas are so easy to access and pet friendly, it really is the best!
Pharris M — Google review
Great beach! Loved that we could back out car up and set up. Family friendly atmosphere. Fairly clean....did have a syringe wash up next to me. 🤦‍♀️
Karleen M — Google review
Had a great time at the beach! Even though there were a lot of people, it was still very nice and clean. I really liked that they had showers to rinse off the sand before getting back in the car, and the free parking was definitely a plus. Overall, a really enjoyable spot to spend the day.
Baaby L — Google review
Port aransas it is a very fun touristy summer beach town. Though it is also good for spring and fall. Lots of shops, lots of different choices for food. Nice beach and boardwalk.
JEWELSK — Google review
Clean beach, life guards present on certain days, there’s showers and plenty of parking. My family and I enjoy visiting here.
Cristal T — Google review
Water is unclean though I live in North Texas, this place feels like another country one where people seem indifferent to the wider world. Trump flags, confederate flags fly everywhere, and the social climate can feel unwelcoming, with Confederate symbols and open displays of racism not uncommon. Almost no diversity. Go to Padre Island or anywhere else in the USA to fish etc. Even the fish stay away from here. By the way food is over priced etc.
John D — Google review
I lived in the area and Port Aransas Beach is by far the best beach in the Corpus Christi area—quiet, clean, and far less crowded than other popular beaches. It offers a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy the beauty of the coast without the hustle and bustle of large crowds. The beach is well-maintained, making it easy to find a clean spot to unwind and enjoy the stunning views. Whether you’re taking a peaceful walk along the shore, relaxing in the sand, or enjoying a swim, there’s plenty of space to do your thing without feeling crowded. The beach also offers fantastic sunset views, with the sky lighting up in vibrant colors as the day ends. If you’re looking for a quieter, more serene beach experience in the Corpus Christi area, Port Aransas Beach is the perfect spot. It’s a hidden gem that gives you the best of nature with a peaceful vibe.

Embark on an adventure with Red Dragon Pirate Cruises, where you'll set sail on a 70-foot replica pirate ship equipped with 10 digital cannons. While the vessel mirrors historic pirate boats, it also offers modern conveniences like a full-service bar and restrooms. As you cruise through Aransas Bay, be entertained by live performances featuring sword fights, dancing, and thrilling naval battle reenactments.
This was a cute little boat ride. Fun for the kids, although a bit of a squeeze considering there were quite a lot of other guests on board. It’s very fun and interactive for the kiddos, from sword fights and treasure hunts, to catching a few dolphins from the window. The crew was hospitable, and definitely get the kiddos excited and involved. The ship offers drinks, snacks, and souvenir purchases while on board, as well as offer an opportunity to tip the crew at the end. My little one had fun, and that made it worth the while as we had never been out on a boat before.
Raquel M — Google review
We went on the Thursday night adults only sunset cruise and had a great time! It fulfilled a childhood dream of mine to set sails on the red dragon! Super fun, the crew was entertaining and the drink prices were super affordable! We also got to see dolphins near the end! Definitely will be back again next time we visit the beach!
Gabriella A — Google review
We had a blast on this pirate ride, you as an adult have to relax and have fun too. The crew made jokes, did fun activities, and even had some interactive "surprises". Our evening cruise also ended up being a beautiful sunset cruise with many dolphins sightings. Our kids loved it. They had snacks and an adult beverage area, and the ride was very smooth sailing. They had an 18&over seating area too if desired. Overall great job, I know entertainment can be rough sometimes.
Me O — Google review
My family and I had the best time on the morning cruise and my daughter loves it so much we did the evening cruise the same day. I couldn't get her off the boat!! The "show" was so amazing and you could tell they loved what they did. The kids had a blast and it's fun for all ages!! The bartender Echo, was phenomenal!! The drinks were fantastic! They definitely have found lifetime pirates with us!! Will definitely be making this a must do every time we come down!!
Ashley P — Google review
The "Crew" were absolutely awesome. Very family friendly attraction, especially for the younger children. Even my teenager had a great time. They were very interactive with the kids, plus the bonus of seeing the dolphins and a gorgeous sunset. Would highly recommend giving the Red Dragon Pirate Cruise a try.
Eldon R — Google review
Went on the 6:30 trip on 4 June 2025. The actors were amazing with ALL of the kiddos. My daughter was a little scared/nervous and the main character “poison” gave her a stuffed parrot to cheer her up. From then on she was excited and participated in all other activities. I highly recommend going on this adventure If you have kids ages 4-12 years old.
Steven B — Google review
was before Halloween - Boos Cruise (~1½ hrs). Most minors & many adults in costume. Pirates (crew/staff) were excellent & safety-conscious: friendly, funny, kids entertained whole trip. Available cocktails were decent.
Robert H — Google review
Regardless of age, you'll have a great experience. Safe, lots of fun, great activities, and great memories. Wish we would've done this sooner as my kids are now teens; yet they still had fun.

Very cool boat shop and museum! Hidden gem with Port A history and craftsmanship on display, you can even build your own boat! Definitely stop by.
Erica K — Google review
This was a very interesting experience. This is a must-see and it won't take long if you are visiting the island. Farley boats are the cornerstone of Port Aransas. The people there will help you build a boat if you've got 6 months and about 25,000. A good experience seeing how they do it. They are very knowledgeable and well worth the visit. Spend an hour talking to them and you will be impressed.
Richard B — Google review
We enjoyed our brief visit and tour.

This was an amazing working Museum. The gentlemen that were there were so knowledgeable. They walked you through place and explained everything. As many times as we have been to Port Aransas we didn't know this was there. It was very hot and humid when we were there so we didn't get to stay as long as we would like. But we're going back in December and we definitely will go go back. If you're in Port A please try to visit. It will definitely be worth your time.

This is a great gallery. Lots of pieces of many types of media, all from local artists. Taking home some of their art is a great way to remember a trip to Port-A! My girls really enjoyed an art lesson from one of the artists with paintings on display, some of which we bought for our home.

Absolutely amazing!!! One of a kind art from local artists and you can purchase it all and take lessons as well! Friendly staff. I took my teenage granddaughter and her friend and they were amazed! Highly recommend this as part of your beach vacation!!!

The art was fantastic! I wanted to take so many pictures but they do not allow you to take pictures or video which I understand. It’s private art very beautiful place very well lit many beautiful pieces we wanted to buy the whole place!
Jason G — Google review
I am an art junkie while vacationing and love to collect local art so I definitely did not pass this up. There was a very nice lady and gentleman running it, they were very nice letting me sit and sift even offering wine. I definitely spent more than I needed to but not as much as I could have because there were so many great pieces. I did notice that they had community art area so it is really cool they do classes because we like to support local. The small note card sized prints ended looking great in frames that we got from Hobby Lobby, it was 3 cards per frame with matting.

The Art Center of Port Aransas is a beautifully curated gallery featuring local and international artists living in the area like myself 🤍 Most artwork is inspired in the natural surroundings of the area, you will find landscapes, birds, fish, and abstract pieces inspired in those subjects. Coming in the gallery makes a great day activity for all the family, kids will love to look at fun art, parents will love the amazing photography, and if your walls are all occupied, there is gorgeous wearable art, hand made one of a kind jewelry, statement pieces and other small souvenirs. Most of the artists volunteer at the gallery on a daily basis, so you may get lucky and meet some of us during your visit. We are happy to have you here, see you soon! 🎨🖼👩🏽‍🎨

I attended their First Friday event in November, 2018. It was a nice occasion with a very good turnout. There was a lot of variety to see: paintings, sculpture, stained glass, jewelry, photography. I saw several pieces I really liked. There were snacks and drinks (wine, punch, and a mixed drink) and live music which was nice. I went with my friend and we both had a very nice time.

Texas SandFest is the largest native-sand sculpture competition in the USA, held along the Port Aransas beach. This three-day family event attracts world-class sculptors who create mesmerizing sand sculptures, drawing visitors from across the country. The event has grown over 20 years and now includes a well-organized area with free shuttles for convenience. It's a must-not-miss event featuring top professionals competing and offering opportunities for the public to learn and enter amateur competitions.
After attending this massive event for over 20 years and seeing how it has grown and helps the community, i come back every year. Amazing organization with well laid out area - be prepared to walk or get a free shuttle(bless them) but to see everything and get some real hands on sandcastle fun this is a Must not miss event - Now the largest beach sand sculpture competition and expo in the USA i was told. The sculptures, by some of the best artists in the world, are truly amazing and if you come every day you can see them evolve from a plain ol' pile of sand into amazing works of Art. The Vendor area is Huge and there is plenty for the kids to see and do! My friends and I had a blast last year and yes, its worth every penny of the admission as we all got free parking and a ride to the entrance - you can't beat that! Highly recommended!
Andy H — Google review
Hands down the best sand sculpture show around. The top professionals compete and the public can learn and enter the competition through the amateur competition. Great beach with great vendors and pubs and restaurants beachside. And let’s not forget the infamous Tinfoil Hat Parade!
Damon L — Google review
I have been going to Texas SandFest since 2005. Amazing to see what the sand sculptors imagine and bring to life in the sand!
Suzanne A — Google review
A better option would've been to charge daily and not $30 for all 3 days. Go back to $10 a day like prior years. At $30 a head and $12 beach parking pass its was $72 total for the two hours we probably spent there on one day. This is not a repeat event at those prices. The sculptures, vendors, shuttles are all nice.
Tammy L — Google review
Been going to Sandfest for years, I am a resident of Port A. As usual the sculpture were mostly amazing and there is rarely a bad day to go to the beach. Tickets are a bit pricy as always +, for those coming in from out of town, they need to spend another $12 for a parking permit. Vendor prices are outrageous once again as always. But that's just part of the tourist experience. By the line you don't have to buy it if you don't want to spend the money so that's your choice. A side note to emphasize this fact I bought two corn dogs and a drink it cost me $30, wow! I gave sandfest a three-star review not because I didn't like sandfest or the pricing is because as always the organization or lack of same from the city was terrible. Parking was a nightmare traffic control was worse than the parking. You drove you drive by the north parking lot which is relatively empty but I live on the south side of the event so I drove down to the south parking lot which was almost empty when I got there I couldn't turn left into the parking lot the attendant told me I had to drive all the way down South Beach to the end of the line get in line to come in to the parking lot. Not happy with this but however these are the rules so I complied got all the way down waited in line 15 minutes got to the entry point and they closed the parking lot said everybody needs to go down to the north parking lot to get to parking lot balanced. I decided I would just wait the 10 or 15 minutes that the attendant told me it would take to reopen the south parking lot after 20 minutes I decided to go to the north parking lot I try to drive to the north parking lot but the traffic was so bad I ended up doing a U-turn pissing off the parking is the attendance and went back to the south parking lot. When I got there different parking lot attendant this time I was allowed to make a left turn into the south parking and managed to to get a parking spot amongst the 50 or 60 so empty slots that didn't seem to exist 30 minutes ago Bottom line the event was great the city of Port Aransas organizational skills suck

I went to Young Frankenstein and it was one of the most amazing plays I've seen in a very long time everyone did an impeccable job you can tell the director love the movie deeply. The actors were so expressive and so dedicated I can't wait to see the next play

Loved. And I mean LOVED The Play That Goes Wrong. It was done so beautiful and wonderfully. I was cracking up laughing the whole time. The set design was the cherry on top. Also, their chairs are very accessible for bigger people like myself. I will definitely be coming back just for the chair alone. Made me feel very comfortable

I went to see Young Frankenstein while I was down visiting Port Aransas this year. It was the best $24 I’ve believe I’ve ever spent! The show lasted 3 hours and the cast, storyline and set were all great! They had some sound difficulties but I hardly noticed because it was so entertaining. I highly recommend. Even the snacks were beyond reasonably priced compared to a movie theater or a show at a big city theater.

We had a wonderful time on April 22, 2022, experiencing the Port A Community Theater's performance of, "Grumpy Old Men- the Musical." The theatee is small, but seating was comfortable. Concessions included popcorn, snacks, soft drinks and a full bar. The performance was great. Very heartfelt. The singing was not always pitch-perfect, but that was fine! The set designs were really well done, and the actors moved things around under dim lighting between sets. All-in-all, this was an excellent production, both hilarious, and sad at times. Especially well acted was Grandpa Gustafson, played by veteran actor, Emily Regier. The stand out singer was Debra Miget-Aguilar, playing Ariel Truax. Really, the entire cast was great, with also emotional performances by Rick Adams, Tod Murphy, Jessica Albert, and Deborah Clark. BTW, this is not a "family" show as there are some lewd references! My two photos showing me, Deborah Clark, Rick Adams, Tod Murphy, and David Ogle.

From their expertly crafted artisan espresso drinks to the homemade gelato (perfect on a hot day), everything about this spot is top-notch. The vibe is cozy, and with free Wi-Fi and a great selection of pastries and paninis, it’s the perfect place to relax or get some work done. Plus, the live music on Fridays adds a special touch. If you’re ever in Port Aransas, this place is a must-visit!

It’s not often you find a coffee place that has a whole “nutty” section on their flavors menu. The service was friendly and fast, and my iced macadamia nut toasted marshmallow iced latte was so good! Will def be back next time I’m in town

Coffee Waves is a nice spot for a relaxed coffee break. The coffee was solid, and the mocha stood out — smooth, well-balanced, and not overly sweet. I also tried both the marbled and pumpkin cake, and they were moist and flavorful without being too heavy. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, making it an easy place to sit for a while and enjoy good coffee and dessert.

This place was highly recommended and very popular. Really long line but it went by pretty fast. My latte was not good, but blaming that on the non fat milk? My bf got an iced Carmel macchiato that was much better! Lots of options to pick from

Very popular spot, always busy. The coffee was good. We had a coffee and a matcha. The matcha was already sweetened, which I didn’t expect. They didn’t ask, and it would be helpful if they mentioned that ahead of time. It felt like one of those pre-sweetened mixes, which usually means the matcha itself isn’t the best quality. Prices are a bit higher compared to the mainland, but that’s pretty normal around here. Overall, a decent place. The muffin we had was actually really good

Nice little coffee shop and gelato shop on the island. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. I stopped by for lunch and ordered the pepper house Beef and ice americano. Really good sandwich. Warm and spicy. Too me is perfect. Americano was great as well. Gelato bar was nice as well. Definitely will come back again when we are on the island.

Smells great as you enter. All the different coffees but disappointed their breakfast croissants are premade. This is not a croissant bread but a toasted white bread. Frozen Sausage and egg. Should have just went to McDonald’s. I like their McGriddles better.

There's an outdoor circular trail that takes you out towards a wetland viewing area. It looked pleasant enough but there is scant shade. Inside there are about six aquarium tanks, and given the modest collection there was a surprising variety of aquatic life on display: Flounder, Tang fish, seahorses, starfish, puffer fish, and the cutest little bumble bee fish (he's in a tank with larger fish so look for him!). Plus there's an awesome Fin Whale jawbone on display, along with a Dolphin skeleton. It's worth 15 minutes of your time if you're in the area. It's free, but they do accept contributions. There's also a small gift shop.

Horace Caldwell Pier in Port Aransas is a must-visit landmark offering stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico, especially during sunrise. The rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the pilings creates a magical experience. While there is an entrance fee to walk the pier, it's often unattended and free. Despite some stinky garbage barrels, walking along the pier provides great views of the water and waves.
Breathtaking and beautiful views...a must see when you are there...

Great views and wild life watching. We saw a couple of Pelicans which was fun. Entrance was $3 each, seniors $1, get your hands stamped for all day access.
Jim S — Google review
We stayed at the IB Magee campground for the month of April and the pier is a couple hundred feet from the entrance. I have been going to Port -A for years and have had mixed results on the pier, but this year was absolutely fantastic. Caught reds, flounder, black drum, sharks and lots of cool fish. The new check in booth with an open sign you can see from the street is great. The attendants are great. They were friendly and helpful! They ask if you need bait, drinks or a snack and stamp your hand so you can come and go as you need. I’m 63 so I need some reminders! One young man had me take a picture of my stamp in case I sweat it off, which is a great idea! When the bait shops were out of live shrimp and I had to buy frozen the attendant suggested I take it to the fish cleaning station on the pier and run water over it to thaw it out so I wasn’t waiting for it to thaw. After that I would dump the frozen bait in a small bucket of water and never had to fight frozen bait again. I wore a hole in the streets between Island Tackle and the pier. Normally the surfers keep a good distance from your casting range and everyone enjoys the water. This year during Sandfest I had them surfing over my lines and after a hook set a fish came out of the water a couple of feet from a guy. I was reeling in a hard head that came off and dropped between a guys legs who was crossing under the pier right where I was fishing. Be safe and watch out for others who may not be paying attention!
CB C — Google review
Seems great to fish off of. As someone who just walked across it, the fee of $3 per adult wasn't good and I wouldn't do it again...I thought there might be something up the buildings worth checking out but not much to do. Under the pier though is amazing. You can find the best seashells in Port A under and near the pier.

Jun was great captain, and he and Wes did a great job keeping us entertained while riding and super safe while up in the air! Each ride was customized to the riders preference for their desired level of water immersion. Our entire family, from age 12- 47, had a blast! Highly recommend! Thanks again!

We were in Corpus Christi for a wedding last weekend and had some free time on Sunday. My daughter had made plans to go parasailing with a couple of her cousins in Port Aransas. I asked if I could get added on, so we were off. We arrived to Chute 'Em Up, received our guidance from Shelby upon check-in, and waited to board the boat. Once we got on board, Captain Mike and Shelby gave very specific guidance on how our trip would go, safety guidelines to follow, etc. At no time did we ever feel unsafe or that we had made a bad choice. We went out about 15 minutes to a very open area of water and then the fun began! Shelby fitted each person with a life vest and harness, and then we waited for our turn to go up. The anticipation of waiting to be launched is probably the worst part, but it isn't bad in reality. Once we were launched, Captain Mike began to increase his speed and let the chute and safety line extend out from the boat. I believe he said the line goes out approximately 600 feet, and then depending on the weight of the rider(s), you can range from 300 to 400 feet in altitude. Although the water was choppier due to windy conditions, once in the air, you really are just floating like a butterfly. The views were awesome. We saw several dolphins, and at least a couple sharks. We also added the Go Pro video and photos to our package - 💯 recommend that you do it. The memories will last a lifetime! I can guarantee you that the next time I am in CC/PA, I will be making another flight! P.S. - they also gave us some great recommendations for late lunch! Thanks, Captain Mike and Shelby, for a memorable first time for parasailing!

Mike and his staff are amazing. I just turned 50 and this was something I wanted to do but my fear of heights stopped me. I am so glad I decided this year to just go for it. My husband went along with me on Friday. The crew was great at explaining everything. I felt very safe. I was also really impressed by how smooth the lift off from the boat and landing back down. The crew seems to have perfected this. I like that they asked if you wanted to dip your toes in the water. When returning to harbor they slowed down and allowed us to watch a pod of dolphins for a few minutes. It was a nice bonus. I loved it so much that on Saturday I went again and took my 10y old daughter this time. It's her birthday soon and she really wanted to dip her toes in. Mike did a great job letting us graze the water. I honestly didn't want to come back down. And everyone was so friendly and shared their knowledge about the area, including some history on San Jose Island. Be sure to pack a small bag or mini cooler with something to drink (no alcohol lol), sunscreen, and a water proof case with a lanyard for your phone.

We had an incredible experience with Scarlet Lady Dolphin Tours in Aransas Pass! The crew was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel completely safe. We saw plenty of dolphins in the beautiful bay, and the one-and-a-half-hour trip was both relaxing and exciting. Snacks and drinks on board were a great touch. Highly recommended for singles, couples, and families—a must-do experience!

We came the week after Memorial Day weekend for my daughters 8 birthday and it was a great ride and the staff was great and Jesse the boat guide she was great and answered every question people had for her. We have been on a boat tour in Florida before but by far my wife and daughter loved this one more. We went for the sunset tour and dolphin watching. We saw a lot of dolphins. I will say at first I really wanted to be in the back of the boat were you are covered from the sun so we ended up at the very front of the boat where you aren't covered from the sun but I'll say I feel like it was the best spot to be on the boat, especially when the captain really start to take some speed the wind is amazing and it's the best view. Over all I highly recommend them. When we come back to padre island we are definitely making a trip back to go on the sunset tour once again.

Great little attraction on the Port A island. My family and I went on a whim for my girlfriend birthday and we had a great time. Price wasn't too bad and I ended up purchasing the drink package for my gf since it was her birthday and as long as you get two drinks while on the boat you'll get your money's worth for the drink wristband. Their bar is open to everyone though for purchases with some basic snacks as well. The staff and Captain were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and I enjoyed conversing with Captain Cowboy. We did see quite a few dolphins... they didn't get extremely close to the boat but their wild animals so it's expected and we still got some decent pictures. My advice would be to get in line early to board the vessel to get a good shaded seat. The front of the boat is all open to the sun so wear sunscreen just in case. You book online for your tickets which made the process so easy and check in was a breeze. Parking is nearby in a separate lot which can be tricky/a hassle to deal with because of the ferry traffic but other than that we really enjoyed ourselves.

We loved it! Very reasonable pricing. Would recommend buying the drink package. Saw lots of dolphins! We did the sun set cruise. Great experience!
Jess S — Google review
The Scarlett Lady Dolphin Cruise has become on of our “must do” traditions when we visit and stay in Port Aransas. Yes, the prices have gone up over the years. We’ve taken the sunset cruise several times, before I finally wrote a review. This will be the second review on Google (I think). It was after Labor Day, so the post-season crowds were reasonably light. Of all the times we’ve been on the sunset cruise, it seems this one was the “best.” Now that’s hard to quantify since you’re just cruising about the channel looking for Dolphins and we’ve seen groups of dolphins every single time, but this captain managed to find multiple pods/families of dolphins and still provide a “grand tour” of the channel. The narrator was not too intrusive, but still provided lots of interesting information. Drinks were available, but it was not a HARD SELL approach. We had a left over ticket from two years ago, and they honored that ticket. Nice touch. One more thing. Although I’m usually very careful, I booked the wrong Wednesday. Fortunately, they were not sold-out and easily adjusted my booking. I just wish the lady on the phone would have caught that when I called the day before. My biggest complaint: The “report-in” time is very early, although it only takes a couple minutes to get checked in (if you’ve completed all your paperwork online). If you do it, do the sunset cruise. Sit anywhere as dolphins will show up on all sides, and front and back. (Or as the crew would say, Port, Starboard, Bow and Stern)

Great experience with Captain Cowboy and Company on The Scarlet Lady. During our visit over Memorial Day Weekend we successfully witnessed a number of dolphin pods, saw some cool historic sites, and fended off a pirate ship! Good experience. Palmilla Beach Resort and Golf Community is a premier destination for golf enthusiasts, offering an 18-hole links style championship course designed by Arnold Palmer. With breathtaking views of the Gulf of Mexico and Corpus Christi Bay, this par 71 course spans over 6900 yards from the back tees. The resort also features a 3-hole short course called The Loop for quick and challenging play. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the beautiful coastal views and practice their swing at the driving range.
We had an amazing round of golf here. The staff went out of their way with top notch hospitality. Course was in excellent condition, beautiful grass. And the best part - for me - I played 9 holes in the summer, in Texas, BAREFOOT. I thought they were joking, but it was exhilarating! Hardly any bugs and like walking on soft carpet. Highly recommend!
Maureen C — Google review
This review is for the course: Great golf course and have never had a bad experience, but simply not worth the $70 they are now attempting to charge for 9 holes with no par 5s. Palmilla may wish that Port A was Destin, but it is (thankfully) not, and charging “resort” pricing for their current offering is not the right move, in my opinion. I would happily pay $70 up to $120 for a full golf course, but not for the current layout - regardless of condition. It’s a shame as we have always enjoyed playing there, but not worth the money for half a golf course.
J.M.H. — Google review
I went to check out the golf course. I will be playing here in the summer of 2026. It was 63$ to walk nine holes in the afternoon. I should have played it once while I was there. Next year!

Great par 32 9 holes. I was on Mustang island for 3 days. I need my golf fix. Palmilla was perfect. The wind blowing from the coast makes it very challenging. I didn't make it to the bar, afterwards. But it looked very relaxing
Robert G — Google review
The grounds are not cared for and all. Grass is dead everywhere, more weeds than grass everywhere no exaggeration. They take so much HOA money from the poor homeowners and in return have monetized everything and taken good care of nothing
Z H — Google review
The course itself is in Incredible shape. The greens are in excellent shape and they are uniquely soft. Playing the course is a blast and it’s beautiful out on every hole - very well up kept. Staff inside is friendly. As a whole the course is very cool. And if you can go during the week when there’s not a ton of people it’s a great time. If I did this review last year it would’ve been 5 stars easily. In fact playing this course is one of the things I looked forward to most when visiting Port Aransas the last couple years. The disappointing part is that the price went up SIGNIFICANTLY the past year. I’d played this course 10x since it was reduced to 9 holes and every time it was either $45 or $50 with no added tax (most recently in December 2023). But then I went the other day and it was $70 plus tax (ended up around $78) for 9 holes!! $120 is the cost for 18 which is just playing the same 9 twice. Supposedly it used to be a very nice upscale 18 hole course pre-Hurricane Harvey (never played it then). After the hurricane they reduced this course to 9 holes and it was supposed to be a cheaper, more laid back course (obviously not having a full 18 holes lends itself to that). They allow you to play barefoot which is rly cool on that grass. And $50 with a cart and range balls was affordable and I would often play multiple times per trip. So it was Super disappointing to have it go up that much for no real reason. Keep in mind not only is it 9 holes, but it’s also no Par 5s - 5 par 4s, 4 par 3s. So you’re playing this course really quick for $80. Also the course was EMPTY this time and tee times were wide open all week - I’m sure going up in cost hasn’t helped business. With the bar and restaurant nearby you’d think you’d want to draw more ppl and attract attention. Anyways if money is not an issue then this place is awesome. If you’ve never played this course it’s worth playing 9. I love everything about it and I like supporting Port A businesses. And I get it, inflation has hit everyone - Just disappointed they would charge that much. Could’ve gone up a little and not done a 50% price hike. I’ll still be playing here but just not as much anymore at that price.

This white chapel, situated on a low sand dune adorned with beach vegetation, boasts a unique zigzag staircase leading to its entrance. As the oldest church on the island, it can be explored through daily tours organized by the Museum, which also includes a visit to the nearby Leonabelle Turnbull birding center. The tour provides insight into the chapel's captivating history and architecture.
It was so beautiful and easy to book. If you are looking for a romantic beachy venue look no further.

Rude lady threatened to call the cops because I didn't realize a wedding was happening. There needs to be better warning or security or something all I wanted was to see the chapel and the paintings. I understand the stress but to tourist trying to see the area maybe put more signals like "wedding in progress"because I thought it was a church ceremony.

Beautiful small church surrounded by a neighborhood. It has a small path to walk to it. It also has a nice size parking area

In order to walk and see inside this beautiful Chapel make sure to contact the Port Aransas Museum to reserve your spot the day before the tour as space is limited. Tours are held on the 1st & 3rd Saturdays starting at the museum then moving to the Chapel. The tour is free of charge but I'm sure they would be more than happy to accept a donation if you were so inclined. We were there on a non tour day..... You can visit and wiew the exterior anytime but please be respectful of the property and its neighbors. It is very beautiful and serene, sitting atop a hill.

We visited this sweet little chapel and it really is tiny. We didn’t get to go inside because we didn’t sign up for the tour but you can see everything through the windows. It is beautiful. This is a must see when visiting this beach city and will only take about five minutes.

Fishing charter
Deep Sea Headquarters in Port Aransas, located on the Gulf of Mexico, offers both group and private charters for fishing enthusiasts. The area is known for its abundant marine life, making it a perfect spot for a day of angling. After a successful fishing adventure, visitors can have their catch cooked at one of the local restaurants. Customers have praised the knowledgeable and helpful deckhands and captains who made their trips memorable experiences.
An awesome experience! We had a wonderful day, and caught a lot of fish. The deck hands were excellent and kept us rigged up and fully baited. The Captain was excellent and even came down to help with rigging when we were on the fish! Will go again every single time we come to Port A.

Captain Kelly's Deep Sea Headquarters gave us an amazing fishing trip! My 10-year-old son and I had the best time ever. As soon as he dropped his hook in the water, he was catching fish—just like that! Captain Kelly knew exactly where to go and put the boat right on top of the snapper. You could tell he really knew what he was doing. The crew was super friendly and helpful too. If you're thinking about going deep sea fishing, don’t wait—book your trip with Captain Kelly! You won’t regret it!
McKee S — Google review
My Husband took our 7 year old son and his friend on the 8 hour trip and reported back that they had the best time!! The deck hands were awesome, everyone caught something. Snapper, sharks, King fish and more!! Everyone had an awesome time and my son can't wait to go again. Would definitely recommend 👌
Stephanie B — Google review
We had an awesome day out on the water with Captain Kevin and his crew! From the moment we left the dock, the communication was clear and professional. Captain Kevin really knew what he was doing—he consistently put us on the fish and moved us to better spots whenever things slowed down. The deckhands were phenomenal: patient, helpful, and constantly working hard to make sure everyone was taken care of. These guys really hustled and created a great experience for everyone on board. We all hit our quota of red snapper, which made the trip even more rewarding. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because we were told not to bring any snacks, yet some passengers had backpacks. When we went to buy food onboard, it had already run out, which was pretty frustrating. We left early the morning to make the 2 hour trip to board, so when we got back after the trip we were quite famished. Highly recommend this charter—just eat before you go or double-check the food policy in advance!
Bill S — Google review
This was our 3rd charter with Deep Sea Headquarters. This time we took the 24 hour charter out. Was a little dissappointed because Texas closed the Amber Jack Tuna season that morning so we weren't able to target those fish. But that didnt matter we came back to shore with ALOT of fish! Multiple varieties of Snapper, we caught Red Snapper too but had to throw them back since they were out of season. Everybody came back with 3 King fish each. Other people caught Mahi, Sharks, and lots other fish. Deck hands and Captain were so attentive and kind. It was a great experience and we will definitely be back.
K L — Google review
Went out on the 12 October 8 hour trip. Really good time overall and very reasonably priced. Weren’t sure what we were going to be targeting but Capt let us know pretty early we’d be targeting vermillions about 35 miles off shore. Ended up being about 2.5 hours out, 2.5-3 hours of fishing, and 2.5 hours back. Seas were about as good as you could ask for, some good sized rollers but spaced apart so not not bad at all. Boat was pretty packed, I think 47 on board but really didn’t feel crowded at all, couple of tangles but it wasn’t bad. We limited out on the vermillions pretty fast. Deck hands were quick to rig everyone up for the bigger fish after we filled our coolers. Aside from the vermillions caught some big red snappers (had to throw them back unfortunately since it was off season but they were pigs), lane snappers, dog snappers, blue runners and a couple of good sized sharks. The two deckhands were excellent, very enthusiastic and friendly despite being extremely busy. We aren’t afraid to get our hands dirty so unhooked our own fish whenever we could since they were running around but they would get to you eventually if you are uncomfortable with that. Can’t bring any food or drink on board but they had plenty for purchase, it’s not clearly displayed so don’t be afraid to ask them, they’ll grab it for you quickly. There is a bathroom on board, it’s not glorious but it will do the trick in a pinch. Plenty of bait was doled out to all of us and they cut new bait when targeting the larger fish later on. Make sure you’ve got sunscreen and a hat, and if you’ve got a sensitive butt bring a pad with you because sitting on the side can be uncomfortable after a few hours. They will clean your fish for you afterwards for a very reasonable price, it does take a bit though after a good trip so be patient. Overall a really good time for the three of us, would 100% go with them again. Limited out, great crew and other guests, I’ve got zero complaints
Adam R — Google review
Started chartering with them when Captain Kelly was on the Pelican 20 plus years ago and have been on all the fleet . We chartered the new King Fisher for a 12 hour trip with captain Jake , and deck hands Loyd and Cameron . There was 12 of us on board and we all had an incredible time. The crew was amazing and catered to everyone!!! I can’t thank the crew and staff enough!! We will be back and will be requesting the same crew!!
Quality B — Google review
It's an adequate experience at best. There were hardly any fish, even trying two different spots. I don't blame anyone for that, that's just how fishing is. But.... 1. DO NOT GET the starboard side of the boat in the afternoon. We were in the sun most of the time while the port side got shade almost the whole time. 2. No hand sanitizer or soap onboard. You're handling squid and fish heads, but the only remedy is a one sink bathroom back in the shop...which everyone (40 of us onboard) rushed to right after. 3. The crew seemed pretty surly. Maybe just a bad day? It seemed like more of a chore for them, like the job was annoying them. 4. No one checked to see if you had a fishing license or even took our boarding ticket. We just went with the group and wandered onto the boat together. 5. Went out into the bay for 39 minutes, then moved to another spot 12 minutes back, then another 30 minutes to get back to port. That's a big chunk of time for a 3.5 hour excursion. I know they have to get away from the ferry and the shipping lane, but we were practically halfway to Corpus.

Seafood restaurant
FINS Grill and Icehouse, situated in Port Aransas, is a charming waterfront venue that offers a diverse menu featuring burgers, seafood, beer, and margaritas. The restaurant boasts a large deck with stunning harbor views, making it an ideal spot for a memorable dining experience. Opened in 2005 by Captain Kelly and Beth Owens, the establishment prides itself on its fresh seafood offerings and family-friendly atmosphere.
We had a fantastic dining experience at FINS Grill & Icehouse in Port Aransas! Everything from the food to the service was top-notch. Our server, JT, was absolutely amazing—friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations. One of the highlights was the grilled Gulf fish with veggies, which came with yellow and green zucchini, caramelized onions, and a chimichurri sauce that tied the whole dish together perfectly. The flavors were fresh and well-balanced—the chimichurri was a standout! I started with a side salad, which was fresh and flavorful, and instead of a burger (which looked delicious), I ordered the fried fish. While it was slightly on the dry side, it was still tasty. The shrimp and fries were both excellent—crispy and satisfying. We also had the onion rings, which were light, crispy, and served piping hot—absolutely loved them. Even the fried okra, which I don’t usually go for, was tasty! My wife had the seafood gumbo—rich, comforting, and full of flavor. The beers came out ice cold, and the vibe of the place was perfect for a relaxed coastal evening. JT even recommended The Deserted Island for ice cream, since FINS doesn’t have many dessert options. We took his advice and were glad we did! All in all, FINS delivered a great experience—excellent service, delicious food, and a fun, friendly atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!
Knolly W — Google review
Our food was good. We were a party of 6 with different entries. The grilled chicken was good, the crab sliders were a little too mushy, and the buffalo chicken sandwich was so big it was impossible to eat. The fish plate and tacos were good. Overall the food was okay. We had a 50 minute wait but once we were seated service was quick. We did not have a long wait for our food. Our server was very good. It was my first visit to FINS. I have had better. The parking is a problem but there is an overflow lot behind Stripes. It would be helpful if that were posted somewhere in their parking lot.

Fins is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a high-quality meal in Port Aransas. The table-side service is attentive, and the food is prepared with great care. Sure, you can find a cheaper meal elsewhere, but when you consider the cleanliness of the restaurant, the professionalism of the wait staff, and the pride they put into both the quality and the portion sizes, it’s worth every penny. Highly recommend!
Rodney C — Google review
I had such a great experience at Fins! The skinny onion rings were light, crispy, and absolutely addictive. I went with the Port A Burger, and wow—it was a knockout. Juicy and perfectly cooked, topped with fried jalapeños, bacon, cheese, and an awesome spicy sauce that tied it all together. Every bite was loaded with flavor. Our server, Jamie, was fantastic—warm, friendly, and attentive without ever feeling rushed. The whole place had a clean, relaxed, and welcoming vibe that made it easy to just enjoy the meal. Between the excellent food, perfect service, and great atmosphere, this was one of those meals you walk away from already planning your next visit. Loved it!

We tried Fins, and it was a great casual spot. We ordered the Fins onion rings and they were honestly fantastic — crispy, flavorful, and gone way too fast. We also got a piña colada served in a pineapple, and that alone was worth the trip. So good. And bonus points to them for having the OU vs. Alabama game on. That was definitely a highlight of the night.

The poorboy sandwich was really good. Service was excellent. The sweet potato fries were delicious. Only thing was the breading on the fried Mahi Mahi, it was really thick. A lighter batter would have been tastier.
Margie W — Google review
It’s a tourist town with tourist prices and Finn’s was no exception. Food was only ok for the price. I had the Mahi mahi stuffed with crab ($37). The fish was dense and very dry. Maybe that’s how it’s suppose to be but I always thought white fish should be tender and flaky. The sauce helped revive it. Would I go again? No. Service was exceptional. Waiter was attentive and engaging.

Enjoyed the location (sat outside by the marina). Friendly service. We got grilled shrimp and creole mahi-mahi (it's topped with gumbo). Both were delicious. Loved their fried calamari (not chewy/rubbery).

This casual seafood restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring fresh seafood and delectable steaks. Chef Gail and her team are dedicated to providing guests with an exceptional culinary experience.
This was our first time here. It was a great find for sure! We will definitely go back. We had the special: Grilled Redfish on dirty rice with Cajun cream sauce fried crawfish tails on top and served with a side of grilled zucchini and squash. This was the best fish I have had in a long time. This is a great place for date night. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. I had already taken a bite when I took the picture. Sorry NOT sorry!
Lisa M — Google review
The food was way too overpriced for the amount of food served and the quality of it, for instance the pasta Alfredo was bitter. I do have to say that the atmosphere is nice. You need reservations if you want to sit inside but the patio is first come first serve, which is what we did. Servers were very friendly.

What a great find! Tired of the same old fried food, overpriced drinks establishments, we were excited to find a place that offered upscale food, in a comfortable setting, at reasonable prices. We chose to dine outside, ordered the fish of the day (Redfish) which was prepared just perfectly, and also ordered the blackened Mahi Mahi tacos. Are service was exceptional and we loved how the chef didn't overseason and cover up the natural flavors of our fish. Simply Delicious and it was a simply beautiful evening. We'll definitely be back!

Frankly, I expected a better meal for the price I paid. I ordered a seafood plate, which looked and tasted like fast food with a bunch of Frenchfries and deep-fried seafood. Fish, oysters, shrimp, and vegetables seemed fresh but lack flavor.

I'm not sure why the reviews are mixed, but we had an excellent dining experience at Black Marlin this evening. We began with the flauta appetizer special, accompanied by a pineapple jalapeño margarita, cucumber martinis, and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. For our main course, we enjoyed the scallop pasta, salmon salad, shrimp and grits, and grilled mahi mahi tacos. Everything was cooked to perfection. To finish, we couldn’t resist trying both the signature key lime pie and the strawberry shortcake. The service was outstanding—attentive and professional. I highly recommend Black Marlin and would gladly choose to dine here regularly over the typical fried bar food found at most spots on the island.

We were on a family vacation, went to have a nice dinner to end our trip and was absolutely disappointed. Server was terrible, never came back to refill waters, had to ask multiple times for the kids waters, food was brought out wrong and after waiting over an hour for ONE plate to be remade we asked for an ETA and waited another 15 minutes with “no response” from the kitchen per the server. I finally went and spoke with a manager. I had better service and food at Blue Water Cowboy the following day. I will never come back to this establishment.

Here from Kansas City! We took and evening stroll and found the most amazing wildlife! Birds, fiddler crabs, sea monsters (fish making riples), tarantulas, swallow tail butterflies and their caterpillars, a hare, and plenty of amazing plants!

This place is beautiful! A longer, mostly elevated natural trail that covers a lot natural Texas wetland. Plenty of birding to do and ship watching to do here. This leeward side of the island used to be pretty rough and trashy when I was younger! But the city has done a magnificent job cleaning this area and beautifying it for people to enjoy. The path is even wide enough for biking!

Beautiful at sunset. Wonderful park. BUT. They fenced off a portion that’s under construction and it’s littered with junk from the crew behind the fence. They should keep it cleaner. There’s plastic cable ties all over the place, risking local wildlife.

The Nature Preserve at Charlie's Pasture in Port Aransas offers a serene escape into diverse coastal habitats. Spanning over 1,200 acres, the preserve features well-maintained trails that are accessible to most visitors. During our visit, we observed a variety of bird species, including a long-billed curlew, Northern Mockingbird, meadowlark, Great-tailed Grackle, Reddish Egret, and, in the distance, three Whooping Cranes. The combination of boardwalks, sidewalks, and packed gravel paths makes for an easy and enjoyable hike. Facilities are clean and well-kept, enhancing the overall experience. For nature enthusiasts and bird watchers, this preserve is a must-visit destination. Thomas Corrao Stray Compass Life

Beautiful Preserve with plenty of active birds and other wildlife. Nice trails and decent observation points. Wonderful way to start your morning in the area. Take your birding list and check off what you find, many species during migration times and the preserve is close to town.

Enjoy a beautiful stroll on an amazing path that Overlooks the shipping channel and winds their way through title marshes. Keep your eyes peeled you will see everything from geckos, turtles, migrating Shorebirds, look the rosette spoonbill and of course the dolphin show has the Freighters go by. When we visited there was also a story book Trail that featured the children's book about the Roseate spoonbill. This added an extra layer of fun for the family. Bring plenty of water as the walk get very warm in the summer. There is plenty of parking and a bathroom. They are doing some upgraded Construction and sometimes parking is limited. There is several Pavilions for shade along the way and one large Pavilion that overlooks a lake. This would be a good spot for a picnic. Also if you remember you will get a better look at all the wildlife if you bring binoculars. Do you have your wits about you as our walk was early in the morning and we did cross paths with a couple who was not there to view the wildlife.

The Tarpon Inn, a Victorian building constructed in 1886, offers country-style rooms and a historic charm. Originally built to house workers constructing Mansfield Jetty, it has since been rebuilt after a major hurricane in 1919. The inn features two relaxed restaurants, including Roosevelt's which offers prime steaks and seafood catches with an enforced dress code. It is also known for its extensive wine list and fine dining experience.
Amazing little hotel. But be advised that these are just rooms to sleep in with the bathroom. See pictures on their website. The pictures are accurate. There are no other amenities, no TV in most rooms. The grounds are lovely, the pool is very refreshing and the porches are the best place to spend a hot hot day at the beach enjoying a cool breeze. Roosevelt is a great place to grab the drink a while in Port A.

We came for the live music but wow, the food. We sat outside under a giant shade tree and listened to live music on the patio. Bar service was super nice and went out of their way to get us what we needed. The homemade bread is on point but they had one of the best simple wedge salads I've had in a while. Probs cause I'm usually eating tacos. Then the coconut shrimp with raspberry sauce, man howdy. Too many reasons to come back.

The Tarpon Inn is a niche hotel. A bedroom, bed, sink, toilet and shower. No tv. No dining table. Quaint, quiet, a trip back in time. Rooms are very clean. Service is top notch. The location is perfect. The Tarpon Inn is about a very simplistic stay for those seeking a trip back in time for a rustic experience with air conditioning.

Wonderful, service-hearted staff from the hotel to the restaurant. Jen at the front desk gave us a tour without hesitation so we could see more of the rooms. Really recommend the FDR suite for 2+ day stays. Great food! Beautiful rooms, and in great shape for the building’s age and for being in a beach town. We booked a room. Checked in and they gave us a different persons room so we had left the hotel had to come back and let them know it wasn’t our name nor our room. So they gave us our room we leave come back at 12am and the key doesn’t work on the door knob I recorded where we tried it soo many times so we can show them in the morning because no one was there at night. Luckily we had family who rented a house so we stayed with them.we go back the next morning and they try to the key and the girl struggles to open the door and she got it open. They didn’t refund us our money because of their “policy”. Very disappointing and I was soo frustrated!! I Do not recommend.

I just got back from a girls' weekend at this gem of a hotel and everyone in my group loved the property. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean and comfortable. They offer all the modern amenities but preserve the hotel's historical integrity. This type of charm isn't something you find in many properties these days. I personally loved looking at all the historical pictures our room and in the lobby. The lobby has tarpon scales with past visitors' names on them--even one from Franklin Roosevelt! I spent a while just walking around and looking at all of them. We also had dinner and breakfast at 1886 (one of the restaurants on the hotel's property), and the food was *amazing*. We ordered two orders of the focaccia bread (one wasn't enough!) and the crab cakes were so, so good! The breakfast was great as well. Everything was fresh and delicious--especially the beignets! Also, if you stay at the hotel, you get a discount of golf carts at Tarpon Carts, which is located right next to the property. We had one, and it was extremely convenient to be able to walk right next door for pickup and drop-off. I highly recommend this hotel! It's a unique spot with friendly service!

Skydiving with Skydive South Texas was absolutely incredible! The entire team was professional, fun, and made us feel totally comfortable from the moment we arrived. The views over Mustang Island and the Gulf were beyond breathtaking. Our instructors made the whole experience feel safe and exciting, and the energy was contagious. We also got the video package, and I’m so glad we did—it captured every moment perfectly. If you’re considering skydiving, DO IT—and do it here! I can’t wait to go back and jump again. I once told myself I would never skydive because it was one of my biggest fears but now I couldn’t imagine never having done it. It has been three days and it’s all I can think about (I’ve watched the video itself a thousand times already with a big smile on my face every time!). The view, the team and the experience at Skydive South Texas were the best and I couldn’t have been happier with the entire process from start to end. Special shout out to my tandem Edgar who truly made me feel safe and in good, professional hands within moments of meeting (a huge plus when your life is at stake!). They made the entire experience intimate, friendly, and fun! I walked away with incredible memories, new friends, an entirely new perspective on life and already planning my next jump. If you’re on the fence, I promise that if I can do it- you can too! It further proved that some of the best experiences in life are right on the other side of fear. My only complaint is that I’m afraid any other experience will NEVER live up to this one!

Seafood restaurant
Restaurant
The Crazy Cajun Seafood Restaurant is a beloved spot in Port Aransas, where the atmosphere is as relaxed as the dining experience. This charming eatery has become a staple for both locals and visitors, drawing them back with its mouthwatering offerings. The highlight of any visit is undoubtedly their signature dish, the Hungry Cajuna—a delightful mix of shrimp, crab, sausage, and crawfish served alongside hearty corn on the cob and potatoes.
My daughter and I couldn't decide where to go for dinner, and we're happy we decided to eat at the Crazy Cajun. They had a location to wait while you are waiting for your table. They served wine and beer in the waiting area Cash only. When we sat down, we chose the Hungry Cajun, red beans and rice, and the shrimp gumbo. We weren't disappointed! The crab and crawfish were delicious. There were shrimp, potatoes, corn, and sausage. They brought a loaf of bread to the table. Great meal!!

So far this place has been awful. You’re told a 30-45 minute wait and then after you finally get to sit down after an hour and we still haven’t seen our entrees come out. People are leaving without being served. I will update on the food shortly. Please see photos. Absolutely ridiculous. 140 dollars and that doesn’t include drinks or appetizers. Look at the crab portions. Talking with other people at other tables everyone has the same thing to say. Definitely not worth what you pay for.

Out exploring the community we saw and decided to stop by for some gumbo. We ordered the shrimp gumbo, shrimp etoufee, and a half pound peel and eat shrimp. Our meal came with hot bread. Everything was good, and the service was excellent. Will go back!

An average cajun restaurant. Food was okay, a bit bland, but they did have Tabasco sauce. The serving sizes were very small for the price, even if this is a tourist town. All the utensils, bowls, and plates are paper. It was a very limited "cajun" menu that a novelist could bring together; nothing that made them stand out for a second trip.
N R — Google review
You won't leave hungry. The food was very tastyand very affordable. The building was dated. The were able to accommodate our large group.

Finally tried The Crazy Cajun and it was worth it! It was Sat evening about 6:30 and we were seated fast. Robert, our waiter was amazing! Super nice and gave us a breakdown of the menu. Loved the food being poured onto the table! Everything was prepared perfectly. MAJOR like: guy behind us playing music on phone loud and Robert asked him to turn it down! Thanks Robert for reminding people about manners!
Daniel L — Google review
I've been eating at the Crazy Cajun for decades and the food is always good, however expensive. My only complaint is that with all the ceiling fans on, it's like eating in a tornado. Within minutes, the wonderfully-cooked, steaming food was ice-cold making it unpalatable. Please leave the fans off. Ceiling fans have no business being in a restaurant when food is expected to be hot.
Johnny M — Google review
I felt like the portions were small for the price. Got 2 of the Cajun boil, some jambalaya & dirty rice also added a half a pound of shrimp. The 5 Inch pizza that i got for my kid was just a frozen pizza. Next time i go or maybe not, i won't get crawl fish or corn, my dish only had like 4 potatoes and had to cut to portions to share. Also ordered half a pound of snow crab and it was just 2 legs.

Such a fun family adventure. Staff is amazing and I highly recommend the knowledgeable staff on board this fishing charter. We were a Large group of 15 Plus the other families on the ship. We felt taken care of 100% of the time. Everybody went above and beyond to make our experience perfect. The young lady inside also helped with keeping my family comfortable and providing snacks and drinks when ordered by my group. Thank y'all again!

Went for a 9 hour deep sea tour. It was the best time of my life. I highly recommend. I ended up catching my limit and some of my families too. I didn't catch anything too big but some other people on the boat did. It was a blast.
Brittany M — Google review
Had a great time on our 6 hour deep sea trip! The check in was easy. They left and got back on time. Crew was super friendly and helpful. Would def go back and possibly even do the 9 hour next time.
LONI J — Google review
Absolutely AMAZING Trip! Captain Justin and his team are awesome, took great care of the fisherman and put us on all the fish, the boat limited out on yellowfin in less than six hours and then got to deep drop where we caught many barrel fish and then went and got my limit of Vermilion, I recommend booking the 60 hour trip to anyone looking to fill their freezer, it is well worth it, thank you for the amazing journey!
JonnyBoi — Google review
We did a 6 hour, afternoon trip, went out for red snapper. Caught a lot and were able to bring home some tasty red snapper. Crews were great and friendly. Well worth the time and money. Also, well worth the money to have them fillet your fish. Definitely will do this trip again.
Jason O — Google review
Took my 12 year-old daughter on the nine hour trip we both Caught our limit on red snapper and also caught a few Vermillion snapper. They supply bait and fishing gear they have beverages and food that you could purchase on the boat .The boat has plenty of space Inside and out the Deck hands were all awesome mind you you’re on a boat with other people they can’t get to everyone at the same time. Ps Restrooms were very clean and comfortable to use.
Dustin L — Google review
We had an awesome time! Did the 6hr 6am to noon trip and tagged out on red snapper quite quick. The deckhands are super helpful. Gary was our captain and he was great! We went out about 1 hour or so then we dropped our hooks and began catching red snapper right away. We moved around a few times and saw some hammer heads, a huge sea turtle, and on our way out and in, some dolphins! Will definitely be doing again. They were able to clean n gut everything for us at the dock when we got back. A few cold drinks on the way back from our last fishing spot. I was nervous as i had read reviews saying the tip jar was pushed on everyone so heavily and once you see these guys running around that boat helping evwryone out youll understand why they should be tipped. And they werent pushy. All in all a 10/10 for me, 1st timer 👌👍🫡 ps... we made fresh red snapper cevíche that evening, chefs kiss 👌
David F — Google review
This was my very first fishing trip and above all it was a good time. The down side i fill was for a 6hr trip you go out for 2 1/2 hrs fish for 1 hr and 2 1/2hr back and only come back with 2 fish. They say on the site chance to catch red snapper and king fish but all we caught was red snapper. Only came back with 2 fish. I wish we went for the king fish also like they stated on the site. You pay $132 which is not a bad deal considering what you would spend if you rented your own boat. The pic makes it look like we caught a lot but that was just 2 fish per person.

The 150-seat theater offers an intimate setting where visitors can enjoy premier musical acts like Billy Snipes, Keith Sykes, Kelly Willis, Cody Canada, and Susan Gibson. During the day, it hosts live performances while transforming into a space for art, music, and movies at night.
Fantastic listening room for the best of Texas singer-songwriters. I go every year for two nights of Ray Wylie Hubbard. Basically a big living room with a great sound system.
Blind I — Google review
We enjoyed seeing friends play at the Third Coast Theater. Two different bands, Friday & Saturday, both were great shows. The venue is 150 seats, it is a snug fit. The sound in the theater is very good. It is a "Listening Room" not a place to dance or belly up to a bar. It is BYOB, with respectful limitations. The only criticism would be the seating. The chairs ran out of comfort way too soon. Highly recommend.
Britton W — Google review
This venue rocks 🤘🏼 BYOB! Picture was taken from first row of balcony. Bought a recording of the show we saw and the sound quality is very good. It’s a great intimate place to see your favorite artists up close and personal.

Small venue, acoustically structured for listening to music. Intimate, informal, relaxing for musicians. Consequently they talk to the audience, making it a musical experience, not a concert. No food or beverage service, so BYOB! Third Coast is a true taste of Port A! Highly recommended!

Woodys Last Stand/ Dolphin Watch Nature Tours has been offering wildlife watching experiences in Port Aransas for over 30 years. The tours take place aboard the Mustang, a US Coast Guard-certified trimaran with seating for up to 100 passengers. The boat features two spacious decks, including an upper deck and a covered lower deck with a touch tank for close encounters with marine life.
This was a great trip! I highly recommend the Dolphin Watch at 4:30pm to see the sunset. This was such a memorable trip. We learned alot about dolphins, stingrays & the many other aquatic species. We didn't just see most, of what the capt talked about, he pulled on to the boat so we can dee it up close & touch dome of them. Great for kids!

We are so happy we chose this tour! Not only did we see tons of dolphins, but the shrimp trawl demonstration was awesome!! To be able to see and touch little squid, shrimp, sting rays, etc. was very interesting and educational! (They were unharmed and released, btw). I highly recommend this tour!
W G — Google review
Enjoyed the boat ride wasn't really able to see any dolphins cause they were quick to get out sight.
Amanda P — Google review
We had such a good time. The captain made the experience so fun for the kids they all got to see and touch lots of marine life. He got everyone into it and made it so fun! We saw lots of dolphins too. This is our second time doing this tour over the past few years and we will definitely be back. 10/10 recommend

We had so much fun on this Dolphin Watch, the crew was so nice and informative. We saw lots of dolphins. There was quite a bit of traffic out on the water, but it was exciting. It was windy, but it was not bad. It was well worth the price, and everyone enjoyed the fish that was caught in the net. I definitely recommend using Woodys Last Stand for your dolphin watch. You will enjoy it, we will be going again when in the area.
Helen T — Google review
GO HERE if visiting Corpus/Port Aransas. FULL STOP. Amazing experience watching dolphins in the bay with an awesome crew and beer for purchase at the landing - by the bucket - for those interested. (At the time of this writing an iced bucket of 6 bottles was maybe $17 including tax.) So many dolphins! 🐬 Other guests nearby who have done dolphin cruises from Florida, to South Padre said this was by far the most they’ve seen, and I believe it! Also, the cruise ended with a fishing demonstration and getting to view and even hold the caught crabs, squid, perch, and even a rainbow ray was wonderful!

Port Aransas Fishing Pier, also known as Horace Caldwell Fishing Pier, is a popular spot for a leisurely day of fishing. Stretching around 400 yards into the Gulf, this mammoth concrete structure offers a great opportunity to enjoy some angling without needing to venture out on the open sea. It's an ideal choice for those who may not have their sea legs yet or families looking for a fun activity with the kids.
This is a nice clean pier. The Peloquins seem domesticated, but they are not really. You can get about 2 feet away from them. Pretty cool!

Lighthouse Lakes, located near Redfish Bay in Aransas Pass, is a fantastic spot for kayaking and fishing. The area provides protection from high winds, making it an ideal location for paddling even in windy conditions. Navigating through the mangroves can be disorienting, but heading towards the large houses on stilts can help you find your way back to the highway.
Amazing place to fish and explore. So many back lakes. The view in the area is so amazing. Birding opportunities seem to be endless.

Great place to take the kayaks. When selecting a place to paddle, I use this area when winds are high (common in this area). If you play your cards right, you can stay protected behind mangroves and still have a nice day even in 15 kts of wind. If you become disoriented back there, an easy way to get your bearings is to head for the large houses on stilts to get back to the highway.

Restaurant
Venetian Hot Plate is a charming Italian restaurant and bar in Port Aransas, run by an Italian couple. The place offers a low-key dining room and an inviting outdoor patio where guests can enjoy traditional Italian dishes alongside steaks, veal, seafood, and more. The menu features authentic pasta dishes like veal scaloppini, duck specialties, penne with Bolognese sauce, and creative seafood pasta combinations.
We had dinner here during a recent trip to Port A. I'm not going to lie but I was very hesitatant to go because I'm a picky eater. I am so glad that I did!!! We can't stop talking about it. We made reservations because we were told that they book fast. When we arrived there were many empty tables but they were all full by the time we left. Our table of six ordered three appetizers to share, an entree each and five desserts. We sampled each other's dishes and every plate with every course was left clean. We had Paul as our server and Ana as his assistant. They were both excellent! They didn't rush us, answered all of our questions and gave us the right amount of attention. We enjoyed the food, the service and will definitely return when in the area. We have already started recommending Venetian to our friends!!!
Marisela F — Google review
This place requires a reservation. We didn’t know. However, we lucked out because a table for two in the bar canceled so we got squeezed in. The food is exceptional. The owners know everyone in town, from what I saw. It is a good vibe, great food, and a very active social place. I loved the duck. It was cooked to perfection with an impeccable texture. The honey and Dijon glacé was brilliant. He loved his seafood spaghetti. The garlic bread was delicious.

I had a very wonderful birthday night here. There were five guys celebrated birthdays here at the same time. The people here let me feel at home. We chatted like friends. It was amazing. When I want to have a happy and wonderful night, I come to visit. I love the guys here. I like the salad so much and also the bread. Reservation is needed, especially in the weekends. Sometimes in the weekdays, you can just come by to ask. If you are lucky enough, you can get a seat. Enjoy!

We discovered this great little restaurant in Port Aransas, while exploring the area. At the recommendation of our very helpful waitress, I decided to go with their signature lasagna dish, an excellent choice. Others in our group chose the ribeye steak, shellfish pasta, both were also excellent choices. Our group also enjoyed a very good bottle of wine. After dinner, we ordered creme brulee, rich and delicious flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a nice dining experience.
Beach B — Google review
We love to eat here whenever we visit Port Aransas. It’s small but cozy. Reservations are highly encouraged. The food is fresh and delicious and the service is fabulous. There is even a sign on the door saying noisy children will not be tolerated. Unfortunately I do not think the sign is enforced as there was a loud child screeching constantly while we were there. Since the room is so small it does echo a bit so it made it difficult to converse. Other than that, we always enjoy visiting. I love the pasta and the creme brûlée is superb.
Amber M — Google review
The most amazing bread and oil/balsamic I’ve ever had! Even better than what I tried in Italy. Very friendly servers, but very understaffed. Need reservations to get in as it’s very popular. Due to understaffing our dining experience took over 2 hours but they gave us a free dessert which we appreciated. Delicious food, pork chop was cooked to perfection and the spinach and potatoes were also perfectly seasoned.
Elanor O — Google review
By far the best restaurant in Port Aransas, the food is phenomenal! I go every year when I’m down visiting and try something new every time, and happy with everything I’ve had. There used to be a male bartender, he provided the best service and he was also entertaining. I believe the owner is a female and she is on top of her game. Just make sure to call ahead for reservations, I almost didn’t get to go this year they were almost all booked.

my partner and i visited "port a" to celebrate the culture of salt life with her human parents. if memory serves, we had done a number of things around the area, including going to the beach, seeing golf carts drive by with foam noodles bent by the force of the wind, looking for fish and birds, eating fish surrounded by birds, and of course more things, i just can't assume to know all of what we had done. as luck would have it, i remember when we were here at shorty's place there was a human playing one of those six-string acoustic guitars and sitting on a stool behind a microphone. he sang a song about a dog that was at the bar, i do not know if anyone knew the dog or not. one human had tethered themselves to the animal as if to assert some level of dominance. the dog made no attempt to leave and i think it was because the human singing along with his own musical arrangements had been saying the words "hot dog" over and over again. that is called a "refrain" in musical terms. i know this because i am a collector of the musical offerings this planet has produced, leaving me well-conditioned to understand encounters with melodic instruments and the elements of song-writing.

Shorty’s Place in Port Aransas is an absolute gem for anyone looking for a vibrant, lively spot to enjoy good music, great atmosphere, and even better company. There are a ton of options for cart rentals in Port A, but Top Deck definitely stands out for great customer service and some of the nicest carts around. Rent with these guys and you won’t regret it!

Top Deck cart and the employees were great. Loved the keyless carts, so I didn’t have to worry about keeping up with them. (I am sure everyone understands that concern) Plus the cart had Bluetooth speakers, & also had headlights. We unfortunately were there during the excessive rain, and our cart didn’t have a windshield, so we didn’t drive it much if it was gloomy or even just misting ... but we did have fun and enjoyed it as much as we could. The employees were courteous, friendly and very helpful. (Seen complaints about p/u and d/o... we got a call and email reminder of our reservation. Drop off was from 9-10, People were waiting until right at 10 to drop off with DIRTY carts, and some with broken parts. The staff were doing their best to get them cleaned, inspected, and ready for the new renters to pick up on time. Bless these employees and all the hard work they do. And the girl on the phone when we arrived was checking reservations and getting people taken car of and into carts, if their paperwork was complete.) I would definitely rent from them again.

The owners are super sweet and greeted me with a big smile. I got a 6 man cart for 3 days. My cart was alot slower than most on the island because everyone passed me but I had a great time on it and it saved my suburban from getting sandy. It had a awesome Bluetooth stereo that was super loud. I only had to put $6 in gas for the 3 days I rented it before I turned it in. I will rent from this company again in the future.
Kristina H — Google review
Awesome service. My golf cart started having problems after hours (around 10pm) while I was cruising the beach road. I texted the after hours number and drove the cart back to the house. The next morning there was another cart parked in front of the house that was nicer than the first one. It had an American flag vinyl wrap, red and white wheels, and a cooler. It was also faster than the first cart and had less trouble going up the boardwalk to the beach. I have no complaints about this company. Will rent again.
Lyle C — Google review
Just returned 2 years later and service was still exactly as described. Online reservation was super easy. They were quick to respond and super helpful. The 6 seater golf cart made the whole trip more enjoyable. Kids loved riding in it so it let us explore the island more and we didn’t feel stuck with just the car.

What a great company!! Renting from TopDeck was a breeze, spectacularly great customer service and they have the most awesome Carts!! We rented the Premium 6 seater. Fit our 2; 3 person families very comfortably. One being over 6 feet tall he had plenty of leg room. Enjoyed all the extra storage it was perfect for souvenir shopping and the built in cooler. We absolutely loved the sound system and smooth ride!! TopDeck has the best built golf carts. We definitely will be renting from them again!!!
Kara H — Google review
These guys have top-notch customer service! It's hard when you're traveling through & don't know whether you're visiting a reputable establishment, there's so much competition on the island for golf carts. However, these guys offer high quality carts at a good price and great customer service! We will rent from them from now on while on our annual Port A family vaca!
Angela N — Google review
$200 a day for cart, bit expensive, but sandfest was going on. Wife was not happy with cart as it was advertised to have blinkers & it did not. Cart under carriage was showing age with alot of rust damage. It ran fine, with code instead of key was nice. The Bluetooth speaker system worked well also. Plain light blue color, it stayed cool in Texas heat.

We used Island Outfitters for a shrimp boil on the beach and exceeded all expectations. Keith and Angela are fantastic people and went above and beyond for the experience. The food was fantastic and they had everything covered from music to wet towels for your hands. They have a first class operation and it truly is turnkey. All you have to do is show up for the experience. Highly recommend trying them the next time you want a catered event on the beach.

Island outfitters is awesome! We have been to port A many times but this was the first time renting carts, it’s a game changer. Honestly it’s what made the trip so much fun especially with kids. We were with a big group that was spaced along the beach so needed to move around and this was the way to do it. Kieth was very responsive to our newbie questions and accommodating with our drop off and pickup. We won’t come back to Port A without renting here!
John D — Google review
We truly had the best experience with Island Outfitters. They dropped our cart off at our place making this such an easy process especially with kiddos. We will use them every time we come back to Port A.
Chase A — Google review
The service you get at Island outfitters is second to none. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The drop off and pick up service is next level. This crew knows how to make your vacation easy and effortless. Thank you so much for making our stay on the island one to remember. I will definitely be using them for all my future trips.

Planned to rent a golf cart for the weekend(Fri-Sun), and due to the confusing website design I mistakenly only booked for 24 hrs. Being that the rental cost me $378, I believed that had to be for 2 days. You read that correctly, a 24hr rental was $378! The golf cart did not handle well especially when compared to the next rental I had to get with a different company. That company was much more reasonable at a rate of $160 for a 24hr rental. I’ll take the blame for mistakenly only booking for 24hours. What I won’t take the blame for is the absurd price gouge. I won’t be utilizing Island Outfitters again nor will I recommend them.
Justin T — Google review
I did a lot of research prior to our 1st trip to Port A. I came across Island Outfitters and was able to speak to the owner, Matt, by phone which was reassuring. With so many companies to choose from, I was very happy with my choice. The new 6-seater had it all! Bluetooth speakers, LED lighting, Mirrors, turn signals and key code ignition...to name a few! The golf cart was delivered in advance of our 4p check-in time and immediately took it to explore downtown and the beach ⛱️. Our 1st trip was very memorable and we will be contacting Island Outfitters on our next visit. Thanks!
Bill L — Google review
The best experience! Easy to communicate with, accommodating, and was there with any information we needed! We weren’t able to keep a cart at the house we rented, but they still made it possible for us to take one to the beach! They were wonderful!!
Brooke M — Google review
Island Outfitters is THE best company to work with! They consistently go above and beyond with every aspect of the rental experience! Their staff went out of their way to find the appropriate equipment for my needs in the price range I wanted! They responded to texts almost immediately and were more than flexible with my delivery and pickup needs (did you catch that?!?! —they deliver to you at your location and pickup from there as well!!). They even gave me a card and cap to help me celebrate my birthday ~ way above and beyond!! I can’t recommend them enough, I’ve already rented from them again (they give you a loyalty discount for being a repeat customer!!) and I will never use another company again. I promise you will be beyond satisfied if you work with Island Outfitters!! Their carts are immaculate and their staff treat you like family!! Give them your business!!!

Port A Beach Buggies offers a unique selection of golf carts that stand out from the typical ones found on the island. They feature great sound systems and even sell cute patio decor. The owner, Scott, and the staff provide excellent customer service and ensure that all carts are well-maintained. Customers appreciate the friendly atmosphere and the option to choose from several budget-friendly cart designs.
Great experience renting a cart from Port A Beach Buggies. I simply sent an email requesting a quote for 3 days. Scott replied promptly and professionally with my exact rate for the cart I requested and confirmed my booking without even requiring a deposit up front, which I thought was pretty nice. Upon arrival Scott and the entire staff were very pleasant and service oriented. Their carts are pretty cool because each one is different amd you can pick one that suits your personality rather than all the cookie cutter ones with other outfitters. Best experience I've had renting carts in Port A for years. I'll be renting again from them next month and every time in the future.

Super easy reservation! We will be in Port A for 10 days in October. I called to reserve a 6 seater golf cart and a Shibumi (to have an extra). I was shocked at how reasonably priced they are! Maggie was just a doll! Very sweet and thorough. We even got to pick the cart we wanted to reserve. They definitely have our business from this point forward.

We had a blast renting one of the 6 passenger carts during our vacation stay at the Gulf Waters RV resort. No problems at all. Was easy to book, pay, and check out. Will definitely be a returning customer!

Reasonable rates for area, staff pleasant and good to work with. On Ave G which goes straight to beach entrance, so is convenient. Gas station close allowing easy top off before returning. 4 and 6 seater carts available. Would go here again and would recommend.
Matt N — Google review
We were misinformed of the price of our rental prior to the day we picked up. When we tried sorting things out and trying to find out what happened, the man behind the front desk started shouting at my wife and I. Absolutely unacceptable behavior, all because of their mistake on our contract. Our rental ended up costing us 200$ more than we anticipated and the experience really put a drag on our trip. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I will be actively avoiding this place in the future
David M — Google review
Fake exclusive agreement with gulf waters rv resort!!! We had a cart rental booked with another company but Gulf waters rv resort would not allow us to bring into the RV resort. We requested the documentation that states you can’t use another golf cart rental company. They danced around this request and wouldn’t provide. Just look how rusted Port A beach buggies are. They will not let you rent from anyone else.

Canoe & kayak rental service
Port A H2O in Port Aransas/Corpus Christi offers a variety of water activities such as kitesurfing, stand up paddle board (SUP) lessons and rentals, surfing lessons, boat charters, and kayak rentals. They have fishing, single, and two-person kayaks available for half or full-day rentals. Additionally, they offer dolphin-watching cruises and sunset cruises departing from the Port Aransas Harbor area near the ferry.
I had friends visiting from The Woodlands Texas. Mike helped me set up a good time on his schedule which ended up working out perfectly for us too. He was extremely professional and went over all safety questions and concerns, showed us the best area to use his jet skis and was at our designated end spot waiting to help us, help him, load up the two awesome jet propelled machines! All three of us girls highly recommend renting jet skis from Port A H2O and Mike Wagner, owner!
Maggie H — Google review
Port A H20 is the real deal. The Skis were in excellent condition, clean and clearly well maintained. I've rented skis several times and upon arrival only to see they are old, scraped up and the performance on the water sucks. NOT AT PORT A H20! There were three of us on our trip. Mike was prompt, professional and set all expectations up front. We met him at the Marina near the ferry where he met us with his boat and two skis; already in the water and ready a few minutes before our appointment. After a 10 minute information session (which we all appreciated), we were on the skis and headed out to the channel. He parks the boat in a sandy shallow spot which made it easy for us to switch out turns on the skis. Mike was there to help us when needed but generally kept to himself and let us hang out as a family during our time. Out on the water we were ripping up waves, jumping wakes and hauling you know what up and down the channel. I even was able to get 5 feet away from a pod of dolphin! It was the highlight of our vacation and worth every cent because Mike actually provides the service and skis you'd expect for the money. We rented on 8/16/19 and my family and I are still talking about how awesome the jet skis were a week later. If you want to make your vacation extra special and really feel like you lived it up down on the coast, book some skis from Port A H20. We will be back for sure. Thanks again, Mike! *Pro Tips: Make sure to have sunglasses that can stay on your face and on top of your head while out on the skis. The sea spray and breeze when you're tearing it up is refreshing and part of the experience; but it's that much more enjoyable with a sporty type set of shades (so not a pair of traditional metal framed aviators) that can block the salt water and not fly off in the wind. You can leave your valuables on the boat and not worry about them getting wet in the jet ski compartment.
Allyson S — Google review

This was such a wonderful private boat tour!! Our party of three adults and six children really enjoyed dolphin watching and cruising the coast line of Port A on our own private boat. Mike was extremely punctual and great with communication, will be booking him in the future!

Used Port A H2O for our dolphin tour, we saw dozens of dolphins and lots of varieties of seabirds. Mike is knowledgeable local who gave our group of 6 a fun and accommodating tour around Port A. As an aside note, our group had a scheduling snafu and he was able to accommodate accordingly. We were very pleased with our experience and will recommend him as well as use him again the next time we come to Port A.
Nik G — Google review
Mike was an amazing person. He had such good hospitality and was so outgoing. Even though I was scared of the jet skis my mom and the little ones had a good time. We were about to leave and we left a watch on the boat and he text my mom and told her so we can get it. His customer skills were awesome thank you for the experience !

If you are looking to jet ski in Port Aransas this is the place to go. Mike is friendly and professional and above all he is very knowledgeable of the island. His equipment is in good condition, reliable, and clean. He gives thorough instruction on how to operate a jet skit no matter your knowledge of ever operating a jet ski. He will ride with you to guide you along the island but also gives you space and privacy. Lastly, he gives suggestions to find great sea food and drinks. Lastly make a reservation with Mike a day before. Mike is the reason we will continue to come back to Port Aransas.

Charlie's Pasture South Trail is a part of the expansive 1,217-acre Charlie's Pasture nature preserve in Port Aransas, Texas. This area boasts diverse habitats including upland, tidal flat, marsh, wooded, and estuarine areas that support a wide variety of plant and animal life. The main entrance to the trail is located near the Corpus Christi Ship Channel.
Charlie's Pasture South is a quiet escape into the heart of Port Aransas' natural beauty. This section of the Port Aransas Nature Preserve offers a well-maintained trail that winds through coastal grasslands, wetlands, and salt flats, providing a peaceful and immersive experience in a delicate ecosystem. Despite ongoing drought conditions, the preserve still holds scattered waterways, and with them, an impressive variety of birdlife. The viewing platform at the end of the trail overlooks an inlet where we spotted several heron species, including the elusive Reddish Egret, a true prize for birdwatchers and wildlife photographers alike. The Loggerhead Shrike, Red-winged Blackbirds, Mockingbirds, Blue and Tricolored Herons, and various shorebirds also made appearances, making it a rewarding stop for birding enthusiasts. The trail itself is easy to walk, about a mile from the entrance to the platform, with minimal foot traffic, allowing for an uninterrupted nature experience. Visitors should note that staying on the trail is required, venturing off is prohibited and comes with a hefty fine, a necessary rule to protect this fragile environment. If you're looking for a peaceful walk with excellent birdwatching opportunities, Charlie’s Pasture South is well worth a visit. The only improvement that could be made is better signage for first-time visitors, but overall, this preserve is a gem for those seeking a break from the crowds and a closer look at Texas’ coastal wildlife. 📍 Tip: Bring binoculars or a zoom lens for the best wildlife viewing, as many birds tend to stay at a distance. #BirdingTexas #PortAransasNaturePreserve #CharliesPasture #WildlifePhotography #NatureEscape #ReddishEgret #TexasBirdwatching

I didn't know what a salt flat was before going and was honestly disappointed. It was flat with no shade (it was over 100) and no wildlife. It is a natural area and is kept clean so they've made very few changes in order to keep it that way.

If you want a beautiful backdrop for a moment like this, then head to Charlies Pasture! It is a nature reserve, and bike/hike trail as well. The fishing is great, and youll have plenty of wonderful memories.

The mosquitoes were RUTHLESS for those naive enough to forget bug spray. Great path to the tower. Any photographer or bird lover will love the intimate wildlife experience as the trail goes right through the wetlands. The tower allows an incredible view to scan all of the birds. My third walk to the tower was rewarded with a sight of 3 GORGEOUS American Flamingos blown from the Yucatan Penninsula months ago from a hurricane.
Andrew M — Google review
Well done trails. Very clean. Nice assortment of waterfowl plus others. We thought it was a really neat place and are glad it’s being preserved. We will certainly be back but will bring bug spray next time.
Lisa R — Google review
Bring bug spray! The mosquitoes are awful. Definitely no birds here. Only saw flamingos, red wing black birds, 4 kinds of heron, and osprey. It's not worth your time. Also no trail at all, had to hike up hill through mud both ways. 😉😉

Joan and Scott Holt Paradise Pond is a charming freshwater wetland located behind the Restaurant San Juan in Port A. It's a perfect spot for birdwatching, with a boardwalk leading to a viewing area where you can observe various migrating birds such as warblers and buntings. The park has undergone restoration efforts after being affected by natural disasters, making it an even better habitat for wildlife.
This is an amazing little park where you can do bird watching. They provide you bird pamphlet at sign in and there is a wooden boardwalk that weaves throughout the little park. There are benches where you can sit and watch the birds, and at various times of the year it actually has water in the pond. Not right now because of the drought. It is a nice casual stroll and certainly worth the trip. There is a chalkboard where people can write down which birds they see and what the date is, which is kind of cool.
Valerie R — Google review
Located in the middle of an residential area this fresh Water wildlife preserve has suffered a frost that killed much of the vegetation a few weeks ago. Still we did see some Northern Shovelers, Blue Wing Teals, and a copious amount of turtles. There is a boardwalk with a few lookouts that overlooks the pond. It is a nice place to visit if you are in Port Aransas and is not hard to find.

I didn't see this area before the hurricane and freeze so I don't know what it looked like then but I applaud the city and all of the volunteers who work diligently and tirelessly to restore the habitat and Lord knows we need as many areas for birds and wildlife as we can protect. Although you may not see them, there are alligators in ponds all along the Texas coast and inland as far as The high school in Katy TX where a gator was found on the doorstep.
Desiree B — Google review
Awesome birds! Great birders! It has changed quite a lot since Harvey hit. Perhaps it's a better migrant trap now. Either way, there were great birds there when we were there: Hooded Warbler, Northern Parula and a Least Grebe. Great job, Port A!

Excellent tour. Started on time, ride was smooth out to the whooping cranes nesting grounds. All guides were very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions we had. Overall a great experience and would recommend to anyone who wants a closer look at exquisite Gulf Coast birds.

Enjoyed the 2025 Whooping Crane festival - even in the bitter cold. One comment - better directions on the activities. I ran into several issues with directions/location as did fellow attendees. I found my way most of the time, but just better directions could have made it that much better. I really enjoyed the scientific boat ride, so fascinating. The tour to see the whooping cranes was great too. There were guides on all sections on the boat and they were really engaged and informative. I loved that they came around asking for questions. The sites also did not disappoint, we saw so many birds. Setting expectations with travel time to ANWR was really helpful.

Went for the Whooping Crane festival this past long weekend with frigid weather and all. Had a great time. Learned a lot. The birds need our help. Keep our immediate environment clean and pleasant for each other.

The Whooping Crane Festival 2025 was wonderful. We had never been to the event or the area and are already making plans to return (when it's a little warmer!). Great food and good people in the area, along with the amazing variety and numbers of birds in the area, made it a great event.

Today was a day filled with gratitude as I delivered my new brochures to the Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce. This marks an exciting new journey for both me and my company, and I couldn't be more thrilled. As a proud Native American woman in a small community where I might stand out, I find great pleasure and honor in staying true to my authentic self. It's important to me to show up in spaces where representation matters, and I am deeply grateful to have owned my own company for nearly 10 years now. The best part of today? I got to share this moment with my family by my side. Thank you for your continued support as I step into this next chapter! With gratitude, Renee

The Port Aransas Ferry Landing is a must-see attraction for visitors to the area, offering a unique and enjoyable experience. The ferry ride provides stunning views as it takes passengers from Port Aransas across Corpus Christi Bay to Mustang Island. The process of boarding the ferry is straightforward, with helpful staff guiding vehicles onto the boat. It's important to keep windows partially open due to heat and ensure vehicle batteries are charged.
The Port Aransas Ferry is such a fun experience and definitely a must-do for young families! Even though it’s a short trip, it can add about 30 minutes to your drive—but it’s totally worth it. The kids loved the chance to get out of the car, take in the views, and snap a few photos. You only have about 5 minutes before you’re back on the road, but it’s an exciting little adventure. This ferry ride is a unique and memorable way to reach Port Aransas, and I highly recommend it for anyone visiting the area! ======== Follow me on Tik Tok & Facebook: @joeypauga

We love the Ferry so I can’t give a negative rating. But i wanted to share our experience we had with a very large young man. He is most definitely the sloppiest at marshaling vehicles. Cannot be bothered to raise his arms above his waist for drivers to see his signals. As my husband crept forward he began screaming. We stopped. He did a sloppy hand wave again- confused we began to creep forward and it set him off. First of all he was standing infront of the vehicle he wanted to move forward while we had no worker in front of us. Move over then? Raise your arms so we can see? Standing across the ferry people cannot see your extremely lazy signaling. He proceeded to give us dirty looks and shake his head. Reading other reviews i see we aren’t the only ones encountering his rudeness and sloppiness. The ferry system shouldn’t be ran with lazy personnel like this as it could easily lead to accidents (and def shouldn’t blame vehicles for misreading a lazy half done marshaling) Use your arms. Raise them for drivers to see. Make clear precise motions. Otherwise we love the workers and the ferry. We appreciate all they do through the seasons and weather. Hope to see this young man addressed before there’s an accident.

We loved it. It's free and quite a view on the way to port aransas from aransas pass. We reccomend. Would try again.

It was so much fun to take the ferry and if you have kids please take them. They would absolutely enjoy the experience. We took the ferry two times yesterday at morning when going into Aransas and at night when we came back into Rockport. It was the best experience. I always love going on boats so wishes the ride was longer 😬.

Super easy and fast getting onto island but for some reason it’s taking hours to go back feels like the hotel California

Just had major surgery with a 9 lb 2 oz left kidney removed on several different medications to help make me urinate and I've been fighting with the fairy landing to get a medical boarding pass. Even with a doctor's note from the prescription pad with every credential that you could ever think of to get on there to make sure that it's legal and binding the ferry landing still wouldn't accept it and it still giving me an extremely hard time.

We were not with a tour, but the self-guided tour/signs were informative. I hadn’t really seen the sand dunes up close before then. We parked at the Patton parking lot.
