1The Phoenicia Malta

The Phoenicia Malta is a luxurious hotel located at the entrance of Valletta, offering elegant rooms and suites. The hotel features the Phoenix Restaurant serving Mediterranean cuisine, a Deep Nature Spa, fitness center, and an infinity pool with garden views. Its historic location near major cultural attractions makes it a popular choice for travelers. With its British colonial heritage and royal connections, this iconic hotel offers a unique blend of history and modern luxury.
Absolutely spectacular! The service is truly top-notch, providing a high-class experience from start to finish. The decor is stunning, with comfortable sofas that invite you to relax. Everything is spotlessly clean, creating a wonderfully pleasant atmosphere. It's the ideal spot to spend some quality time and enjoy a delightful moment. I highly recommend it!

One of the most elegant & prestigious hotels in Malta. Extremely posh. Excellent service. Great for afternoon teas. Great variety of teas, coffees, desserts and much more. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
Luiza T — Google review
We just returned from an amazing stay at The Phoenicia Malta, and I’d summarize our experience this way: Location – Perfect. The hotel sits right next to the Triton Fountain, with easy access to buses, Bolt, or taxis, and it’s only a pleasant 5–6 minute walk to St. John’s Cathedral. You really couldn’t ask for a more convenient base in Valletta. Ambience – Truly five-star. The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming, with beautifully maintained gardens that feel magical at night. The rooms, lobby, and restaurants all reflect a high level of quality. The pool, located at the far end of the garden, looks stunning—though it does require a bit of a walk from the main hotel. Rooms – Spotlessly clean, thoughtfully designed, and very comfortable. Housekeeping did an excellent job throughout our stay. Guest Services – Outstanding. Every staff member we encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely helpful—it made it hard to leave! For example, when we requested that the complimentary mini-bar drinks be swapped out for extra water, the team had it done in under two minutes. That level of attentiveness really stood out. Contessa Restaurant – The views and service were excellent, but the food itself felt underwhelming. Perhaps it was because we’re vegetarian, which naturally limited our choices, but the flavors and variety didn’t quite match the otherwise exceptional standards of the hotel. Overall – The Phoenicia Malta more than lived up to its reputation, delivering comfort, style, and truly memorable service. We would gladly return and recommend it wholeheartedly—though perhaps we’d explore more dining options next time.
R M — Google review
Welcoming & helpful team awaits, we’ve had consistently good service here. I have to make special mention of Robert John Kennedy at the pool. He offered exceptional service all day, every day. What an asset to any service business. The restaurant is fabulous, and the pool area is immaculate. You’re well located to walk into Valletta and the main sights of Malta. The rooms are clean and maintained if simple, my only complaint would be that the showers are over the bath & I never like that. The clientele tend to be middle aged +, we didn’t see any children so be mindful of that (though we were here in early Autumn when the schools were back). The gardens are very nice to walk around.
Andrew H — Google review
The Phoenicia Malta once again, and as always, was an absolutely outstanding experience. Having stayed here in the past, I continue to be impressed by how consistently beautiful, refined, and welcoming this hotel is. The location is unbeatable, right at the gates of Valletta, offering breathtaking views and easy access to everything the city has to offer. The property itself is stunning, seamlessly combining timeless elegance with modern comfort. The staff are truly wonderful; warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making every stay memorable. Every detail, from the spotless rooms to the exceptional dining and thoughtful service, was impeccable. It’s rare to find a hotel that maintains such a high standard over the years, but The Phoenicia Malta continues to set the benchmark. I look forward to returning again soon.
Taurik H — Google review
It is a beautiful, well-maintained, property in the style of grand hotels. The rooms are very well maintained and serviced. The main positive is the staff, who are all super helpful and friendly. They seem to be relatively happy too, as they seem to stick with the hotel themselves. It is priced in the luxury price bracket but if you can afford it, worth the money.
Jeremy L — Google review
Just went here for cocktails and dinner. It was great the staff are exemplary not only attentive and efficient but also fun. Nothing bad to say about this hotel the food and drinks were excellent.
Ian M — Google review
I can't imagine a more perfect place to stay in Valletta. The rooms, although not huge, are so tastefully appointed and comfortable. Service throughout the hotel is of the highest caliber. The location can't be beat. Highly recommended.

Extended stay hotel
The Embassy Valletta Hotel is a refined accommodation located in the heart of Valletta, offering spacious and elegantly designed rooms with city or sea views. Situated near restaurants, historic bars, and cultural attractions, it's an ideal choice for those prioritizing location. The hotel features amenities such as rooftop pool, gym, and cinema. Guests can enjoy outdoor activities during late spring to early autumn while milder months are perfect for walking tours.
Lovely stay- the rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing despite being in the middle of a busy city. The rooftop was a highlight for us. In Valletta in can be hard to find hotels with a pool, so having the space to relax and cool down was perfect. While the subbed area by the pool was slightly limited, there’s also a roof deck with extra loungers and comfy sofas. It was much quieter up there and had a nice breeze, though to access the pool you have to walk through the restaurant. The location was ideal- right in the centre of Valletta, surrounded by lovely restaurants and close to buses and taxis to explore the island more. The hotel is located on a lively party street with music, which can be noisy outside, but you’d never know from the rooms. The staff were brilliant throughout our stay- everyone from reception to rooftop to housekeeping was friendly and helpful. Sometimes housekeeping didn’t replenish the tea bags or coffee pods, and once took our robes without replacing them. But a quick call to reception and it was sorted within minutes. The rooftop pool closes at 7pm, but they offer a midnight swim between 12-1am. We absolutely loved swimming at night and even saw fireworks from the pool, which was really special. Breakfast wasn’t included in our stay, but we did receive a complimentary breakfast one morning. The selection wasn’t huge, but had everything you’d typically want for breakfast. I’d definitely recommend this hotel in Valletta.
Emilia B — Google review
I am very satisfied with the choice of staying at the Embassy Hotel Valletta, and I truly believe it is one of the best hotels in the city. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Valletta, and the rooftop terrace offers a wonderful view that really adds to the experience. Most importantly, the service is outstanding. The reception team deserves special thanks – they always greeted us warmly, remembered us by face, and were genuinely helpful with every request. Their professionalism made our vacation especially pleasant. The rooms are well-designed, comfortable, and equipped with all the necessary amenities. There is enough space to store clothes, and I personally liked the overall style and layout. There are a couple of small drawbacks to keep in mind. The sound insulation is not perfect, and since our windows faced the lively street with bars, it could be noisy until around 11:30 PM. It didn’t bother me much, but guests who go to bed early may find it challenging. Another point is that the rooftop deck has limited sunbeds and especially umbrellas, so you need to arrive around 10:30 AM to secure one. Adding more umbrellas or shaded spots on the rooftop would make it even more comfortable. Despite these minor issues, the stay exceeded expectations. I would definitely choose this hotel again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Valletta. A big thank you once more to the reception team for providing such a high level of service!
Svetlana K — Google review
It’s a great location and very clean and comfortable hotel. The rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated. They have a beautiful atrium on the first floor to enjoy a relaxing drink or coffee. The rooftop is a big bonus. It has great views of the entire city. We had drinks there every night at sunset before going to dinner. We had some snacks too sometimes. The food is delicious too. I would definitely stay here again if I come to Malta.
Heba B — Google review
I highly recommend staying at this hotel. All the staff were friendly, helpful and made us feel welcome. The rooms are spacious and clean. We loved having breakfast up on the roof terrace overlooking Valletta. The roof terrace is a lovely place to have lunch or dinner and watch the sunset, or have a swim in the lovely pool. The hotel is in a perfect location to see all the sights in Valletta. So you don’t have to walk far. It was a special double birthday trip. 70th and 65th birthday. We will definitely be returning to this hotel.
Lorraine G — Google review
We had a fantastic stay here, location was perfect for enjoying all the delights of Valetta. So close to all restaurants and bars. The service was 2nd to none, great rooftop restaurant for breakfast and late evening drinks. Even has a sundeck for sunbathing or late evening drinks with incredible panoramic views of the city and Harbour front
Nirmal — Google review
Very nice hotel, clean, stylish & the staff were professional on our arrival and throughout. Situated in the heart of the city with brilliant views from the roof top overlooking the city. Pool is small but was enough to keep cool. Another great touch was another level above the pool just for bathing, you do have to walk through the restaurant to get access. The restaurant was inviting even better at night when it’s all lit and glowing! however at night can get very noisy from surrounding bars and restaurants till late. During the day it’s relaxing. Easy access to shops.
Thomas S — Google review
I can’t vouch for the rooms or hotel itself but I will review the rooftop dining experience. The food and cocktails are exquisite and the view is probably the main draw card too, it was for me. There is a pool for the hotel guests and the view looks out over the dome and buildings of Valetta towards the water. Also they serve nuts as a bar snack to go with the cocktails 🍸
C C — Google review
The service at reception and during breakfast was fantastic, and the rooms were spacious, modern, and perfectly suited to a couple or even a family of three. The pool was also a real highlight, with an outstanding view of Valletta. The only drawback was that the pool is situated directly next to the bar, which may not make it ideal for children, and the central location, while excellent for exploring the city, does mean that the lively atmosphere on Strait Street can continue until around 1–2am. This could be disruptive if trying to get sleep. That said, this is part of the charm of staying in such a vibrant capital, and the overall quality of the hotel was faultless.

Hotel
Iniala Harbour House is a luxurious hotel located in Valletta, Malta, offering elegant suites with sun-soaked terraces or plunge pools. The hotel occupies four grand properties facing the majestic Grand Harbour and features gorgeously put-together suites. The main hotel, The Harbour House, is a restored 19th-century palazzo, while the Grand Residences offer extravagant one- or two-bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens. Situated on the prestigious St.
I had an amazing brunch experience at this restaurant. The waiting staff were warm, attentive, and very professional, which made the atmosphere feel both welcoming and relaxed. The whole hotel had a wonderful scent that added to the experience, and the setting offered a magnificent view that made brunch even more enjoyable. The food itself was absolutely delicious—fresh, beautifully presented, and at very reasonable prices. A perfect spot for a memorable brunch, and one I would gladly recommend.
Kyle X — Google review
When you spend several thousand euros on a three-night stay, you expect to enjoy a cocktail in the restaurant with a view, especially after paying for an expensive dinner the night before. Instead, we were flatly refused. We couldn’t even look out at the terrace because, we were told, there were “other guests” seated there. I’m sorry, but as hotel guests ourselves, we should have been given priority. I understand and respect house rules, but when we went up to the terrace only to be told we could drink in the reception area, I felt genuinely embarrassed. There were plenty of empty tables inside the restaurant and it was almost 9 p.m. Had I been in the staff member’s shoes, I would have asked, “What would you like to drink? We’ll send your cocktails to your room,” and the matter would have been settled. The person who spoke to us was completely unable to handle the situation or find a satisfactory solution and kept hiding behind “other guests,” as if we’d walked in off the street. It was outrageous, I’ve never experienced anything like this at a luxury hotel. At reception, we were offered a drink at another hotel nearly a kilometre away. But it’s not about distance. A guest at a five-star hotel has the right to enjoy a drink wherever they choose, and that is exactly why they chose that hotel. The staff’s attitude on this matter deeply disappointed me.
Joanna D — Google review
From the moment we arrived, Iniala Malta exceeded every expectation. The room was beautifully appointed with every detail in mind. But what truly set this experience apart was the impeccable, personalized service. The staff didn’t just meet our needs, they anticipated them and making us feel genuinely welcome and completely at home. Special thanks to Roberto, Jeff, Joanne, and Martina, whose warmth and professionalism made our stay unforgettable. Their hospitality was the soul of the hotel, and we’re so grateful for the care they showed us. Malta itself is stunning, but staying at Iniala was the highlight of our trip. Our subsequent experience of other hotels paled in comparison. Highly recommend this.
Marc T — Google review
Great location but for one night the price and the quality was just not good enough. The staff was phenomenal but also felt pressured giving tips every time they did something for me. The room was very clean and nice but also very tiny and nothing special. The noise outside of one of the machine (probably for the AC) was just super loud and especially while sleeping. I don’t have a problem sleeping with noise but i bet others do. Also there was a constitution literally right next door. Another con is the balcony (check the video) which is basically a “French-style-balcony. Wouldn’t really recommend this hotel with THIS room
Nino S — Google review
There are many luxury hotels with beautiful charm. Iniala Harbour offers more than just a great location overlooking Valletta's historic harbor. The service is among the best in the luxury industry. The excellent service begins with a relaxed check-in and extends to room service and the restaurant. Every request was promptly fulfilled, and communication within the staff worked perfectly.Once I expressed a wish (sufficient milk for the coffee machine in the room and sparkling mineral water) it was always fulfilled during all 4 days. This hotel and its entire team are of a high standard. Everyone tried very hard to fulfill our wishes and make our stay as nice and pleasant as possible.

At first I thought maybe I was just having a bad day, but after several different incidents, I decided ro leave a 1-star review here: 1) Luggage wheel broke during the airport - hotel trip. This happens, so I understand it’s just bad luck sometimes. However, they did not let us know when this happened. We found out by ourselves in the room and I felt that was not very honest… It wasn’t a great start. 2) Electricity Power Outage in the room. This happened suddenly 3-6am. I was awake because I had a jet lag. I went down to the front desk to report, but the front desk couldn’t solve the issue, so I had to sleep with no AC during the 1st night. The power came back next morning around 6:30am, but outage cause was unknown. 3) Staffs entered my room without my consent while I was in the toilet. This was HORRIFYING. Around 9:30am in the morning, after breakfast I was using the bathroom. Then all the sudden a man & a woman tried to come in and knocked on the door. The bathroom door was very thick, so although I was using max volumn on my phone to speak out “do not enter” “get out,” they didn’t hear it (and they were chatting, weren’t really paying attention to inside either). After they entered the room, I still keep repeating “get out!” on my phone speaker (I lost my voice so I couldn’t talk). Finally, the woman entered the bathroom and saw me sitting on the toilet, and she finally realized that they should have listened more carefully. When I angrily pointed my index finger to ask to get out, she finally left. This was one of the worst experience at a nice hotel. 4) Room Service menu was a joke. Around 0:10 (12:10am), I wanted to order some food. There was a Late Night Dining 22:00-7:00 section on the Room Service menu, so I ordered a salmon toastie plate along with some bread and water / lemon / honey. HOWEVER, only the bread and water / lemon were delivered. No Main Course!! 😂 My husband called to ask why didn’t the main course come, and the answer was “we are out of salmon.” There are only 4 menu items on the Late Night Dining Menu, but it turned out that they only have 1 left. But they didn’t inform me, so they only gave me the bread / water 😂😂😂😂 The location is pretty, but because of all these problems happened during my stay, I don’t think this place deserves a high price tag like this. Also, for such an expensive hotel bathroom, there is no shower gels / shampoo setting next to the bath tub (they are all glued to the shower room, and the tub is a little far away from the shower). The staffs were friendly, breakfast was not bad, but too many things showed that this place needs better management. (Before I wrote this 1-star review, I tried to contact the Guest Relations a few times. However, I didn’t get a sincere apology after all the incidents. They were friendly but not very helping with my issues. Also their inner communication wasn’t clear. I already told them it was electricity power outage, but they kept mistakening it for AC break down) It was a family trip to Malta strongly suggested by a family member. They told me this is the best hotel in Malta. I will let you be the judge.

Absolutely fantastic hotel right in the beautiful city of Valletta. The room was absolutely stunning and the entire property was beautiful throughout. The staff are very friendly and the service is great. Restaurant was quite expensive but was a great experience. We had the pool terrance room and the view is probably the best in all of Malta. Carmelita in Valletta is a charming apartment located just a short walk from the city center. The property offers modern, clean accommodations with friendly owners who are accommodating and professional. The apartment consists of a bedroom, living room with a kitchenette, and a lovely typical Valletta balcony. Guests can enjoy amenities such as onsite massages, complimentary Wi-Fi, and babysitting services. Additionally, the location provides easy access to attractions like Grand Harbour, National Library of Malta, St.
Wonderful accommodation in a strategic place of Valletta, a short walk from the center. Everything clean, modernly furnished, very friendly owners, nothing is a problem. We postponed our stay from last September and we were very happy that the owners allowed us to do so. Our apartment consisted of a bedroom and a living room with a kitchenette and a beautiful typical Valletta balcony. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay in Valletta.

Friends stayed, and there were issues with cleaning. Not spacious enough. Too many furniture inside. It was okay. Location near to a small playground for families and easy to access if you take an Uber. Quite difficult with a bus as you'll have to walk across the cobblestone city of Valletta with a little of uphill and downhill involved. Best choose to go around and outside the city center if you have luggage. Easy access in building with code.

Amazing! Great host, very central in authentic Malta! Walking distance of everything and the ferry nearby to hop around! We truly enjoyed with family! Great to have your own little kitchen as well.
Aranka F — Google review
Is it UNFAIR to ask for your money back when the service wasn't used because of some unexpected life situations that can happen to anyone? Never had any problems, not even needed to write a bad review but the hosts of this accommodation have no understanding whatsoever. The only thing they think is that they "couldn't resell the property". Taking into account my situation of the whole holiday being ruined - too much to ask from these people! I heard so many stories from friends who booked non-refundable accommodations when they had trouble coming and got a refund, these are people with hearts, does not sound like you guys. We had to suddenly cancel the booking because due to corona restrictions and lockdowns, I was unable to fly to Malta the same night, I was not allowed on board! This is something not planned obviously, and happened NOT because I didn't check the rules, but because the rules change every day and the corona thing is still happening and I know 100% other people could fly to Malta from the same country I was flying. Why wasn't I allowed to fly being vaccinated, having all the necessary docs with me - ask the airline! ZERO HUMANE understanding from the owners of the apartment. THINK twice BEFORE you BOOK the place. Anyone can have unexpected problems like this and not even refund some amount of the payment is just .. well..doesn't feel like these are people with hearts. I am very sorry for the way you run your business. Humane understanding shouldn't be forgotten when you want to make money. I am sure getting money based on our misery won't make you happy. Don't be surprised when next time you have some troubles, the universe will not help you. Don't be disappointed.

Beautiful stay in Carmelita Valletta in Feb 2020, just before the covid lockdown. The appartment is amazing, convenient for a little family (we are a couple with a kid), beautiful decoration, very well located and we were parking in large car park a little way for the appartment, the city center is quite full. The owner is a pleasant person. If we visit Malta again, we will try to come back here again.

Steak house
Sciacca Grill in Valletta is a top choice for meat enthusiasts, offering high-quality steak cuts and freshly grilled sausages. Named after a Sicilian village, this unique steak and grill restaurant provides an exceptional culinary experience. Guests can savor a variety of mouth-watering dishes, from fresh to aged steaks, while enjoying a delightful ambiance and excellent service.
Simply superb, this looks and feels like an upmarket steak restaurant. The staff were friendly, helpful and informative. Talked us all through the different cuts of meat, the recommended cooking style etc. You get to stand at the counter admiring your options before choosing. Our waiter helped us pair wine to our choices, and we were not disappointed with anything. This place is heaven for a carnivore like me! Of note, the family who sat next to us had a vegan diner, who was offered various choices and she seemed to enjoy her visit too.

They didn’t have my reservation saved. The terms of the meat were wrong, Rib eye was medium rare when was asked as medium. The lamb was well done, dry. When was asked as medium. The wanted to charge us 28€ from a wine we didn’t order. Staff was friendly. Relation price, quality is not worth it.

We went to SciAcca Grill with high expectations, but the steak was somewhat underwhelming — not quite as flavorful as we had hoped. Bit fatty too. However, the mushroom dish was absolutely delicious and stood out as the highlight of the meal. The total came to around €260 for three people, which felt a bit steep given the overall experience.

The atmosphere is great and the staff are polite and friendly. However, the meat quality didn’t quite match the price point and could definitely be improved.

Oh, a true pearl in Valleta for enjoying a great steak slowly. Service is outstanding and meat can be chosen on spot. A place worth visiting once again - the experience was superb. Recommend to visit for sure.

It's a bit pricey( just myself is over €100) than other places , if love sea food . I think to go to the fish market, it's cheaper ... But everything is great . The lady was really nice to explain everything .

The food was excellent. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We got a drink from staff. I recommend this place if you want to eat great steaks.

Nestled just off the vibrant Sliema promenade, The Black Sheep Drink & Dine is a must-visit destination that perfectly blends a trendy bar and café atmosphere. This popular spot draws in both locals and tourists, creating an inclusive environment ideal for casual meet-ups or deeper connections. Whether you're popping in for a refreshing coffee during the day or unwinding with drinks at night, The Black Sheep offers a welcoming space particularly cherished by the LGBTQ+ community.
Absolutely recommended! We came during the time of the 2-for-1 cocktails, the food was very tasty, the waiters were quick, and the prices are affordable. We sat on the terrace and the atmosphere was very pleasant.

Would recommend coming here for a drink at very least! Although the food menu isn’t extensive there are some great options available. We had the Mixed Grill sharer and it was amazing, although on the pricey side it was a good evening out.

Trendy Bar / Restaurant in Sliema. Extensive cocktail and drinks list and a Happy Hour that offers two for one on selected cocktails. Caipirinha and the Manhattan were highly rated. Panzerotti mushroom Pasta didn’t have a great deal of taste and the Veggie burger was rated as good. Definitely worth a try.
Simon M — Google review
We waited 30 minutes just for drinks, then 40 minutes for a simple appetizer, and another 30 minutes for the main course. The edamame was overcooked and oddly served without any salt. The ravioli bought in a the store tasted like better and the sauce didn’t seem homemade at all. Burgers came overcooked and no one even asked how we wanted the meat done. Overall, the staff seemed stressed and overwhelmed, which reflected in both the service and the food. Would not recommend based on this visit.

Overall a great experience. They have good choices in food and drinks. Food is also tasty and delicious. Best is their drinks, especially their cocktails. Their happy hours are value for money. The staff is friendly and attentive.

The food is very tasty, the staff is friendly and the service is fast, even when the place is full. It is quite noisy in the evening because of the music and the street.

The Osborne Hotel is a charming 3-star property located in a historic palace from the Knights of St. John period, just a short walk from the bustling center of Valletta. The hotel offers 63 stylish rooms with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and flat-screen TVs. Guests can enjoy stunning views of Marsamxett Harbour from the upper floors. The hotel features a seasonal rooftop pool where guests can soak up the sun and take in panoramic city views.
Centrally located but in a very quiet area of Valetta. 10 minute walk to bus station and in the opposite direction, 10 minute walk to ferry to Sliema. Great hotel. Rooms are spotlessly clean and serviced daily. Good choice of breakfast items both hot and cold dishes to cater for all. Staff are lovely and friendly. Bonus is also the rooftop dipping pool on the roof. Great find.

Nice clean rooms. Nothing fancy but good value for money. Good service and staff who offered to help and book tours and transport. We were able to check in early and luggage storage available. Pool also available good for hot days. Great location, really good base to explore Valletta.

A great central location for our week’s stay! Rooms are a bit small and a few air con issues but overall we enjoyed our time here. A lovely breakfast & bar. A big thank you to all the staff, particularly Fatimah on front desk. Always smiling. Thanks for doing a great job.

First impressions were of a lovely hotel in a great location for exploring Valetta and Malta/Gozo.The staff were all very helpful, friendly and polite. The buffet breakfast was great with a good choice of food, something to suit everyone. We were given room 406, a very basic room in need of some updating. This room is not one advertised on the website, the rooms shown are much more modern and nicer. The air conditioning vent had black dirt/mould all around it , the ceiling needs repainting as it was badly marked, the laminate flooring had lots of chips and gaps , the balcony railing was loose, the chest of drawers smelt musty. There was no dressing table or chair to sit on so had to sit on the bed using the wardrobe door mirror to get ready .We didn’t ask to change rooms as the hotel was full and we only used this as a base to see Malta. All that said it is a lovely hotel and we would definitely stay again but would next time pay a bit more to get a better standard of room .

We had some difficulties during our stay and the staff could not have been more helpful. Special thanks to Michael on reception and Martha the duty manager for your kindness. The location is brilliant, everything is within walking distance and they serve a nice breakfast too with nice views from some rooms.

Nice location Nice location, friendly staff, clean and nice room. In my first night, room (102) was not as one would like, but they corrected it (406) for the remaining of my visit and I was a happy visitor. Some staff, like Dennis, were top level friendly to make my stay and visit to Valetta better. Date of stay: December 2024
Gurkan D — Google review
Old style hotel that's well placed in Valetta. Was greeted on check-in by a grumpy concierge. Seeing we were only booked for one night seemed to set the tone, begrudging, as opposed to helpful. Some lift buttons not working, room was small, but clean and comfortable. Would have been good to know there was a step up into the room and that the only window (frosted) opened internally onto air conditioning units. Disappointing. I. Room safe was not working
Phil W — Google review
Avoid at all cost. They take your money and then don't care what happens to you. Its was awful. I was a solo female traveller arriving peak season to a hotel booked and paid for months in advance to be told there was no room for me. I was told I was staying in another hotel. Ive been told two different reasons why 1. over booked and 2. a plumbing problem which they couldn't find a plumber on a Saturday to fix. The hotel i was put in was a cheap hotel, booked in to the cheapest room i was told. A single bed, with mould and damp on the ceiling and broken fixtures everywhere. No swimming pool or fitness centre. And hair in the breakfast. I felt like i had no choice but to stay there because i didn't want to end up on the street if i couldn't find anywhere on the first night. After complaining mutiple times they found me a room on the second night but they are refusing to give me a refund for the first night saying i booked a non refundable room, but i was never given the room in the first place so how does that work. I completely understand that issues can happen and if it was a genuine problem then a suitable, same standard room should have been found even if it would be more expensive as they should have a duty of care if you are booking with them. But i got no help and no apology on the first day, just got told the manager doesn't work that day and i had to email or come back the next day to sort. I was in Malta 3 days and spent 1.5 days of that trying to sort this problem. Don't stay. Not solo traveller friendly. Didn't care for my wellbeing or safety.

The Smokehouse in Gzira is a must-visit for those looking to savor Maltese barbecued meats. For an authentic experience, consider setting up a beach BBQ during the summer months. The restaurant offers generous portions of delicious starters like soup, chicken wings, and herrings. The mains, including brisket burger, chicken Kiev, rack of ribs, and shashlik are highly recommended. Visitors praise the attentive and knowledgeable staff who enhance the dining experience.
First place I ate in Malta, and it set the tone for a great trip. The meat was incredibly well-seasoned, portions were generous, and everything tasted amazing. The place was clean, with a friendly, welcoming vibe. It does get quite busy at night and when you sit inside something you can feel forgotten about until your food arrives. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but the staff were great and made up for it. Definitely worth a visit, highly recommend!
D — Google review
Overall a decent place with good prices and big portions. The pork schnitzel was very tasty. The pork ribs were good as well, although the salad that came with them didn't have the best taste. The beer with the lunch menu was just bad. Other than that, the place was clean and the staff was nice. It's worth trying the restaurant.
Михаил Д — Google review
Read the reviews and went with the Argentinian Rib Eye and it was excellent. The steak was soft, juicy and meal was fresh and hot. I wasn’t really a fan of the salad. Also, the first waiter that attended to me took his sweet time and literally kept me waiting for over twenty minutes until I had to call for his attention a few times. So, one star taken away for that. Other than that, the vibes were immaculate. I loved the option of eating indoors for people that don’t smoke.
Ebun O — Google review
Really nice place if you are a meat enjoyer. During lunch hours they have amazing offers where you can eat ribs or pork steak with sides for only 12 euros and they are really tasty and big portions. On the evening you can enjoy a perfectly cooked steak which is a little bit more pricy but it is worth it. They also have amazing cocktails which are made in the cocktail bar next to the restaurant.

During my recent trip to Malta, I had the pleasure of visiting Smõkehouse, a cozy barbecue restaurant located in Il-Gżira. The place has a laid-back vibe with a focus on smoked and grilled meats, and it definitely delivered a memorable experience. One of the highlights was their happy hour deal—from 18:00 onwards, you could get two bottles of A. Le Coq Premium cold Estonian beer for just €6. That’s not only a great deal for Malta, but surprisingly cheaper than buying the same beer in Estonia! We tried two dishes: the shashlik and the pulled pork burger. Both were flavorful and well-prepared. The pulled pork was juicy and tender, and the shashlik had a nice smoky char. The fries were a bit soft for my taste, but they were still enjoyable, especially alongside the excellent mains. Overall, Smõkehouse offers great value, especially with the beer deal, and the food is satisfying. If you're in Malta and craving something hearty with a touch of Estonian flavor, this spot is worth checking out.

Great place for a burger or wrap. Fast service. We sat outside in a busy walkway but it didn't feel tight for space. The brisket was off the menu but what we had was good. Chicken wrap, chicken steak and the steakhouse burger...
Aaron H — Google review
We had the ribs and salmon, and both were solid 4/5 dishes. The flavors were great, and everything was well-prepared. The Smokehouse is a nice place to visit, with a welcoming vibe and good service. It’s conveniently located in the shopping mall, which makes it a great spot to grab a bite during a day out

We had two of the 'lunch' specials that are available until 6 p.m.! Both the Swedish meatballs and the pork steak were awesome. And the 2-for-1 espresso martinis were delish! Service was great.

La Falconeria Hotel is a serene retreat nestled in the heart of Valletta, offering a peaceful escape while being conveniently close to major attractions and transportation. The hotel's central yet quiet location makes it an ideal base for exploring the historic city and immersing oneself in Malta's cultural heart. Guests can enjoy spacious modern rooms, courtyard dining, and an indoor pool.
We had everything that we needed the breakfast was lovely with gluten-free options as well. The staff were very helpful. The room was very comfortable. Great bed, bathroom, air conditioning and storage. The plunge pool was very refreshing after a day out walking. Probably the most comfortable overall I’ve been at a hotel.
Zara C — Google review
This is a really lovely, modern and very pleasant hotel. Situated in a good area of Valletta close to lots of bars and restaurants but with a quiet, refined feel, it was the perfect location for our week in Valletta. A short stroll onto the main thoroughfare streets of the town, you're not far from the action. The rooms are spacious, clean and modern with air conditioning but dont be put off if your room has no window, there is natural light but the hotel is designed in a style to keep the rooms cool. The hotel has a lovely courtyard, a small indoor basement pool (not suitable for swimming, just a cooling dip) and a basic gym. There is a really nice restaurant (we only had our breakfast there each day) and the food was excellent. I have to commend all of the staff including reception, restaurant and cleaning staff, they were all lovely, helpful, polite and immaculately dressed. There isn't a rooftop area, however, this hotel is part of a group of 4 in Valletta, you can use the facilities of the other 3, which we did a few times when we wanted a chilled day sunbathing by a pool, a great benefit. I'd highly recommended this hotel and would definitely stay again.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel and so quiet dispute it's super central location. Highly recommend. The staff were all lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was included and delicious, they even made gluten free versions of things for me. Had the pool to ourselves one evening for a very quiet dip after a long day of exploring in the heat, it was exactly what we needed.

The hotel has a very central location so you walk out the door and just around the corner you will find great restaurants, bars and sights. I strongly recommend this hotel.

Location is the biggest advantage of this hotel. Near the nice quiet restaurants and bus station. Great service. Coffee available downstairs all the time with water and tea, self-service, great breakfast mostly with eggs. Breakfasts from 7am till 10. Swimming pool in the basement, small and round. Small gym.

5/5 Absolutely lovely hotel! We had 3 rooms with the balconies in August 25 for 10 days. If you are in to shopping, history, culture, good food etc, then Valletta has so much to offer as a base and we felt was a great alternative, and as stunning as places like Florence or the gothic quarter of Barcelona. The hotel is very comfortable and stylish. Jug of drinking water provided in rooms. Great beds, decent air conditioning and breakfast options that are superb. The eggs Benedict is about the best I’ve ever had. The balcony rooms are a decent size for a city centre hotel, very well presented and very clean and tidy. The location is perfect as many of the tourist sites in Valletta are only 5 minutes from this hotel. The hotel is located in one of the quieter Valletta streets. Valletta is interesting in that you can have literally 1000s of people on the main streets like Merchant St ( it’s very vibrant), yet the side roads are lovely and quiet. Great plunge pool in the basement and it’s twinned with another hotel a few minutes walk away and you can use their roof top pool, which our teenaged kids loved. If you’ve got kids, McDonalds, Pizza Hut and Starbucks are literally a few minutes walk as are some amazing restaurants from proper Pizzerias to authentic Indian and Asian offerings. So many restaurants/cafes/bars to choose from. We had some amazing meals. What really makes this hotel are the staff. From management to the cleaning staff, everyone was so polite and nothing was too much trouble. They were so helpful, friendly and accommodating. Can’t think of any negatives; temperature in the breakfast restaurant could do with being a few degrees cooler. That was it. It’s really easy to get around Valletta and a great base if you want to travel further afield as the hotel is near to the ferries on both sides of Valletta and a short walk to the bus station (or just get a bolt cab). We fell in love with Malta. It was a perfect holiday in a perfect hotel in a perfect location. Many thanks La Falconeria.

We had a great stay at the hotel and all the staff were fantastic. The rooftop pool and bar is a great place to relax with a beer and has some great views. The rooms a clean and functional but only have a small window looking into an internal courtyard, which is my only real complaint. Breakfast was also great with lots of options. Will be back.

I had a wonderful stay at this beautifully maintained property, located just a few yards from the town’s main walking streets. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and the staff is incredibly kind, always ready to assist with any request. The rooms are pristine and face an inner courtyard, making them pleasantly quiet. However, the furniture feels a bit oversized for the room’s dimensions, and additional shelves in both the room and bathroom would be helpful for storing personal items and toiletries. The breakfast is excellent, with impeccable service. Overall, the staff’s warmth and dedication made my experience truly exceptional. I’m thrilled with my stay and highly recommend this place!,

Fantastic hotel right in the heart of Valletta. The staff is incredibly attentive, and the room is amazing, super comfortable, and spacious. For those traveling with a lot of luggage, the hotel has a plus: it's located on a street accessible by car and has an elevator. We stayed at The Gomerino Hotel the end of September. It’s a good location, not too busy of a street. Everything about it was great. Good breakfast, cocktails on the rooftop with a beautiful view and pool. Our room was upgraded, we had a balcony with doors. The fresh air was nice. Beautiful bathroom. Staff was pleasant and helpful with restaurant ideas. I would stay here again.

Chose this hotel for my vacation in Valetta and happy with my choice. The place is nice and beautiful. The room is clean and fully equipped. The staff is very nice and helpful! The pool,in reality, seems to be smaller than in the pictures but it gives you a nice view of the city somehow. The only thing I wish they could improve is to add more fruit and food variation for breakfast.
Cherprang B — Google review
The hotel is in a perfect location, right in the heart of Valletta, which makes it very easy to reach everything. At the same time, it is situated on a quiet street. The air conditioning works extremely well, and the bedrooms and bathrooms are modern, comfortable, and beautifully designed, although they are on the smaller side for two adults. Breakfast is excellent, with a choice of hot items a la carte and the breakfast buffet and the overall service is warm and attentive. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Valletta.

Guests can enjoy a traditional Maltese breakfast and relax on the rooftop terrace featuring a plunge pool. The hotel also offers wellness facilities including an indoor pool and steam room in the spa.
Absolutely faultless stay. On a quiet street, but just minutes from the heart of Valletta. This small old palace has been sympathetically and tastefully transformed into a beautiful hotel. The staff were, without exception, fabulous and so helpful. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Very reasonable bar prices, inline with resort prices. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you.

Beautifully restored mansion in the heart of Valletta but still in a quiet road. Great design features throughout this boutique hotel. Amazing service. The hotel has a spa which is bookable via reception and free for hotel guests. Breakfast was amazing, great selection, catering for many tastes. Full english made fresh. From the roof terrace with pool one can even observe firing of cannos from the Upper Baraka Gardens. Everything is very close, even fast ferry terminal to Gozo is a few minutes walk from the hotel. If you want to dip in the sea, a few minutes walk (pass thr Lower Baraka Gardens) is rocky beach in front of Dino's restaurant. I suggest to book directly with the hotel as I found better price on their website than going through booking.com. The room was very spacious with a big comfortable bed. If I stayed longer, I would have preferred a room with a bigger window or balcony.

Amazing room, so clean and comfortable in every respect, welcomed like a family member upon arrival and treated like royalty throughout our stay. It’s simple, we will be returning no questions asked. I am just so grateful to every staff member for going out of their way to show kindness at the highest of levels. I even read a stupid review about breakfast, well eggs Benedict, full English, porridge, loads of fruit meats and bread, plus cereals and a chef who will do what ever you want, I don’t know how you can beat this. This is a first class hotel with first class people. Our thanks to everyone for making our holiday and world class one.

I recently stayed at Palazzo Consiglia for three days during my trip to Malta, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. This charming boutique hotel is ideally located in the heart of Valletta, making it a perfect base for exploring the city’s rich history and vibrant culture. The atmosphere at Palazzo Consiglia is wonderfully peaceful, providing a relaxing retreat after a full day of sightseeing. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, especially the receptionist Nemish, who works the night shift and made our stay particularly memorable with his warm hospitality. The rooms beautifully blend traditional Maltese architecture with modern amenities, creating a cozy and comfortable environment. The attention to detail throughout the hotel truly made us feel at home. Having stayed previously in Buggiba, I can confidently say Palazzo Consiglia is now my preferred accommodation choice in Malta. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a delightful and relaxing stay with excellent service in Valletta.

We were welcomed on arrival with 2 drinks. The roof top swimming pool is not big but it is just enough to relax, sunbath and take in the views of the area. We did not stay long enough to use the spa facilities on the bottom floor. The room provided robes and towels for the pool. The bed was very comfortable! Toiletries were provided in bathroom, even a lofa. TV was a smart TV equipped with Netflix ect. Beautiful place will definitely return.

Rosselli - AX Privilege is a luxurious hotel located in Valletta, Malta, offering chic accommodations and upscale amenities. The hotel features two renowned restaurants: the Michelin-starred Under Grain for fine dining and the Bib Gourmand-awarded Grain Street for casual Mediterranean fare. Guests can enjoy an outdoor pool and a rooftop bar with stunning sea views. The hotel's central location provides easy access to historical sites such as St.
The Rosselli offers a great central location within easy walking distance of everything. All staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, including our requests for extra water bottles. We will stay again but next time not upgrade to a suite, these have a narrow spiral staircase up to the bed, not ideal when you need to use the facilities in the night as the bathroom is downstairs! Roof bar terrace was not officially open but we were able to have a bottle of Prosecco brought up.

Service was impeccable, with every staff member being genuinely friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

We loved our stay here! It was our first stop in Malta and the central location was perfect. The room was sort of typical (we booked the lowest tiered room) but very nice with a modern remodel. Their breakfast was one of the most memorable parts for me! The options, food and service were top notch and we even slept in one morning (we were jet lagged) and they kindly let us sneak in a few minutes late. Would definitely recommend staying here for a cozy urban boutique experience with great service!

Wow, talk about service and style! This hotel (and restaurants) are top! From the front desk to the restaurant staff to house keeping we felt so very taken care of and welcomed. Also, the hotel is a very beautiful and elegant renovation of a 17th century large urban home. A magical place. We look forward to our next visit. Note: if you prefer very quiet rooms I recommend one in the back of the hotel as the ones facing the street (particularly on the 3rd floor) can get loud from the next-door street bar crowd and its live music.

We weren't staying,we stopped for lunch, staff were amazing, the food was fabulous ( try the deep fried lasagna bites) I loved the way they brought crusty bread and olive oil straight away, the wine was served by the glass by our waitress, who knew her wines. All in all a 5* experience. Later they were very kind when we were exhausted by the heat and walking, and helped us get a taxi back to our ship. Grazzi😁

From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The staff are beyond exceptional warm, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to making every moment special. Nothing was ever too much to ask, and their care and hospitality made us feel incredibly supported on such an important occasion. Our wedding day was perfect in every way. Far beyond anything we had dreamed of. The venue itself is breathtaking, beautifully blending classic Maltese charm with modern luxury. Every corner of the hotel is thoughtfully designed, creating a romantic and sophisticated atmosphere that made our celebration feel truly unique. The food at Grain deserves special mention – it was absolutely incredible. Each dish was a culinary masterpiece. It added another unforgettable layer to an already perfect experience. To everyone at Rosselli – thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You helped create memories we’ll cherish for a lifetime. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. If your looking for a special occasion or a luxurious getaway, Rosselli will exceed every expectation.

Great hotel in a central location so within easy walking distance of bars, restaurants and all the attractions. We received a warm welcome and were looked after by the wonderful team throughout our stay. The only problem we had was the noise from a local bar, however, this finishes at 12 and is only on for 2 nights of the week so once we knew this we could plan accordingly - i.e. join in!

AX The Saint John Boutique Hotel is a stylish and sophisticated hotel located in the heart of Valletta, Malta. It offers well-equipped rooms, some with balconies, and features a casual bar and a creperie. The hotel's superb location on a pedestrian avenue allows guests to easily explore historical attractions, vibrant nightlife, and various dining options. The blend of historical charm with modern comforts makes it an ideal choice for travelers looking to immerse themselves in the cultural experiences of Malta's capital city.
An absolutely lovely hotel. Great location on a busy ancient street but well soundproofed room. There is no lobby but is attended by the AX Rosselli just a couple doors down. This review includes information about both locations combined. Staff is fabulous. We need to leave at 5am for an early flight and they offered to have the restaurant make us a special meal prior to our departure. The AX Rosselli includes 2 Michelin star restaurants plus a rooftop lounge. As you would expect, the food is phenomenal with impeccable service. (And there is another Michelin star restaurant literally 10 meters across the street. And yet another a block away.) Our room was spacious and very well appointed. Great shower and we had a balcony room looking over the street. Truly beautiful atrium and fantastic overall experience.

We checked in at reception and went a few doors down to The Saint John's Boutique hotel. It works perfectly. This hotel is ideally located for the city centre. The room was lovely and the bed was huge and comfortable. The service was 5star hospitality. We had a small problem with the plugs and maintenance was at our door within 5 minutes and fixed it. Highly recommend the breakfast. It was a highlight and one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had.

Situated right in the heart of Valletta with friendly staff and large, clean rooms. The Cheeky Monkey bar is connected to the hotel and provides a good range of pub food and drinks. You have the use of the parent hotel, just around the corner including a rooftop terrace and a pool. This was a last minute booking that really paid off!

We moved from the Intercontinental in St Julians and thank goodness we did. Valetta is just fabulous to stay at with so many restaurants shops history etc. The AX St John is a fantastic place.. rooms are so quiet (305 is anyway) and the hotel staff are so amenable..breakfast is fabulous also. I can't fault the place!

The rooms are a sort of annex to the Rosselli hotel a few doors down, where the reception is. Breakfast is either outside, in a smartly fitted terrace or inside, in the spacious and very elegant lobby area (which I preferred to the actual dining room which was often quite crowded). I was on the street side, very lively and a bit noisy but the windows are very well insulated - I slept like a brick every night. Delicare sleepers may want to try find rooms at the back. Everything was very comfortable and the location perfect, but what stood out for me was the service by all the staff, which was impeccable and very attentive in a refined way.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay – a true 5-star experience from start to finish. The bed was incredibly comfy, the shower was powerful and refreshing, and the location couldn’t have been more perfect – close to everything yet peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast was a real highlight, with a fantastic range of options from the à la carte menu, all beautifully presented and delicious. But what truly made this stay special, especially as a solo female traveller, was the incredible staff. Their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care made me feel completely at ease and truly looked after. Nothing was too much trouble – they really went above and beyond to ensure I felt welcome and supported throughout my stay. A heartfelt thank you to the whole team – Special thanks to Michael, Jennifer, Tom, Yohan and Amal.

Our stay at AX The Saint John Boutique Hotel in Valletta was absolutely outstanding! We spent four nights here and were beyond satisfied with every aspect of our experience – from the room quality, service, and dining, to the warm hospitality and perfect location. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed with a Prosecco toast for us and fresh natural juice for our little one – a thoughtful touch that set the tone for a fantastic stay. The room was beautifully designed, spotless, and extremely comfortable, providing the perfect retreat after exploring the charming streets of Valletta. One of the highlights was the Michelin-star breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. Every morning, we indulged in a gourmet selection of dishes that exceeded our expectations – truly a culinary delight. The staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and professional, always ensuring that we had everything we needed. The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of Valletta, making it easy to explore the city's historic attractions, restaurants, and vibrant atmosphere. Having stayed in several 5-star hotels, I can confidently say that the experience at AX The Saint John Boutique Hotel was on par, if not superior, to some of them. The level of service, attention to detail, and overall ambiance made this stay truly memorable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious yet intimate experience in Valletta. We will definitely return!

What a fabulous place with brilliant staff! We must name check Kathko, Richard and Taneesha, although all staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. An excellent breakfast is served at the AX Rosseli 20m down the road which is where aforementioned staff work. The hotel is 150m to the Grandmasters Palace, then on to St John's Co-cathedral next door but one to it. It's true there can be a bit of noise outside (we had a first floor street facing room) of an evening (Champions League semis on consecutive nights!) but after 11pm it calmed down.

Casa Ellul is a sophisticated boutique hotel featuring luxurious suites, some with terraces, and an elegant restaurant called Risette. The restaurant offers a distinctive gastronomic experience with a menu that changes weekly to showcase the chef's passion for flavors and mastery of techniques. Additionally, the hotel provides room service, a bar, hiking opportunities, and laundry services.
We had a 3 night stay at this amazing little hotel. Its perfectly located within walking distance of all of the main sights of Valetta. The rooms were well equipped with virtually every tv station available for you after a long day walking between the sights. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Their breakfasts were amazing too,my other half had eggs benedict every morning and said it was incredible on each occasion. Overall a perfect hotel, perfectly staffed and perfectly located.

Wonderful hotel. The hotel is small and beautiful. The staff is wonderful, and they were so attentive to our requests. The rooms are clean, well designed, and luxurious. The location is central in Valletta and steps away from the top restaurants and sights. I would absolutely recommend this hotel, and I would love to stay here again.

Our recent stay at Casa Ellul was a truly enjoyable experience, marked by warm hospitality, comfortable accommodation, and a superb location in the heart of Valletta. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Mariana at reception, whose outstanding service set the tone for the rest of our visit. She was friendly, warm, and consistently helpful throughout our stay—offering recommendations, assisting with arrangements, and ensuring we felt well looked after. Our room was beautifully appointed, with a stunning view of St Paul’s Cathedral, which added a real sense of occasion to our visit. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the shower was a delight—particularly welcome after navigating the summer heat. While the room was a little warm on arrival due to the 35° weather, it cooled down quickly and provided a relaxing retreat from the bustle outside. One of the highlights was enjoying a quiet evening in the Jacuzzi, which added a luxurious touch and allowed us to unwind fully. Casa Ellul’s location is truly excellent, making it an ideal base for exploring Valletta. Whether walking to historical sites, restaurants, or the waterfront, everything was within easy reach. In all, we found Casa Ellul to be the perfect blend of charm, comfort, and exceptional service. It was an ideal choice for our visit, and we would not hesitate to return.

This hotel was a highlight of our holiday. Despite being in the center of Valletta it was a haven of peaceful quiet. Peter and his team could not have been more hospitable to our needs. The breakfasts were perfection and the hot tub with a view of the rooftops of Valletta will stay with us a lifetime. Walking distance to all the best sites, we hope to be back one day.

We stayed at Casa Ellul in Valletta, in May 2025. The rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished, the mix of original features and modern finishes were tasteful. All the staff are attentive and professional, we would love to come back and would highly recommend.

If you are looking for your typical generic every day hotel, stop reading and look elsewhere because Casa Ellul is beautifully unique and really lives up to the SLH moniker. This small boutique hotel, to me, is pretty special. Being a previous home, for many generations, the rooms are each different and unique in there own way. I was in room 3, with wee French balconies to look over the street. I slept with the French door open all night 🌙 listening to the sounds and later on, quiet of night time. The mid century replica TV was great! The deep soak tub was put to good use! The bed was very comfortable and I slept great with the fresh spring air flowing throughout the room. The hidden wash basin behind a muraled wall was space saving and so smart! The gentleman who checked me in, was delightful. He brought my luggage up to the room for me, then brought me a glass of prosecco to welcome me. I am so sorry I forgot his name! because he deserve praise for his kindness, helpful nature and friendly smile. He also helped make dinner reservations, called me a cab and gave me advise on some things to do around Valletta. I was happy to see his smiling face in the morning for breakfast! The only critiques I can make are it was difficult to find a plug in a place where I could do my hair, in front of a mirror with a place to put my flat iron and hair implements down. I made do with the floor lol but really, for an almost 200 year old building, it was to not much of a hardship, just a small inconvenience in a splendidly unique place. Also, i found the black painted dining area somewhat claustrophobic, only because of the dark colour on the walls and ceilings, though very nicely decorated. In my opinion, a lighter, historical accurate colour should be added so as not to feel so closed and dark, but again, such a minor thing and purely a personal taste. I would highly recommend Casa Ellul if you want the luxury of a unique boutique hotel.

The hotel and facilities were 9/10. Regarding the service, it was quite poor and rude, which I found unpleasant. Not to mention the gym access available as a hotel guest. The owner or manager insulted me for not having a towel. I also wanted to mention that the minibar charges were incorrect, and just for mentioning this to the receptionist without even asking for my money back, he had a rather unpleasant attitude. The staff are inauthentic and the hotel attempts to make money from ever minutiae detail, including breakfast in the room.

Fantastic small boutique hotel in Valletta, close to the buzz but far enough away to be peaceful, tucked away in a small street. Suite 7 has a great terrace with a hot tub and fantastic views of the city and across the harbour to Silema. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was sublime. Overall we can't fault the place.

SU29 Hotel Valletta is a chic boutique accommodation located in the vibrant heart of Malta's historical capital. This stylish hotel features elegant suites adorned with marble floors, providing a luxurious feel for guests. The central location allows easy access to major attractions, the main bus station, and various dining and shopping options—all just a short stroll away.
Excellent hotel situated in the heart of Valletta within walking distance to many of the major tourist attractions, shopping streets, restaurants, bus and ferry connections, nightlife and museums. The hotel room was clean and colourful. Great bed and facilities. Good breakfast and a wonderful staff. The only issue we experienced during our stay was with the AC - it was dripping water on the floor (which made noise + some pools of water - hence the 4 stars), but we told the staff and they were service minded and attentive to our situation, and did their absolute best trying to help us out and make us comfortable. The staff is also very knowledgable about Malta so do ask them for any tips or suggestions! As someone mentioned in a previous review the hotel does not have a road entrance for cars, but it’s basically a 20 second walk down some stairs from the accessible road, and there you are. Will definitely consider staying here the next time we visit Malta!

A lovely boutique hotel very central and convenient in Valletta and everything is in walking distance. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast had limited options but very adequate. Staff werr welcoming and friendly. Only couple of issues why i didn't give 5 stars. We've had a room with no windows and the air con in that room is not powerful enough. We've turned it down to 16c (lowest you can set) and we were still too hot and had couple of bad night sleep due to waking up at night for being too hot. The air con seems to be a small old unit so not too surprising it is not powerful enough. We've asked the receptionist but seems that there were nothing much they could do. The other issues we've had was the room not being able to open. The staff told us this was due to the battery in the lock being low. They did fix this the next day for us so it didn't cause too much inconvenience to our stay. Overall nice hotel and would consider staying again if air con issue can be resolved.

A four stars hotel with the bathroom and the bed in the same room? Great taff. The blind was broken. I could not sleep properly for 2 reasons: the first, the bed was too small and unconfortable, the second there was a lot of natural light from the bathroom...yes it was the same room and tbe oart of the so called bathroom had 3 windows without blinds...🤣🤣🤣

What a terrible hotel. Nothing like the pictures. They put us in a room with a window facing a wall and shower and toilet in the room, with just half panes of glass separating them from the bed. We checked out after 1 night. They ruined our holiday and my birthday. Totally misleading listing on booking.com

The reason I am rating this lower is for one thing: not enough hot water for more than a 2 minute shower. Seriously. I timed it. I even woke up one morning at 4:30 AM, thinking I would beat everyone else. Nope. This is a developed country in Europe, there is no excuse for insufficient hot water. Minor complaint: The shower grout was filled with black stuff that was either mold or missing grout. I wasn't getting close enough to find out. Internet speed was around 20, but it would randomly shut off at least once a day. Would be a pain if you were in a work meeting. Hotel itself is in a good location. You're within a 5-10 minute walk of great restaurants. Also 8-10 minutes from the bus station. Bed was OK. There was only one pillow and it wasn't that soft. Towels were usually slightly damp, likely from hang drying. They were big though. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion provided but they are teeny tiny bottles. Breakfast was good. Selection of hot and cold food. The staff was exceptionally friendly and always helpful!! I want to move up to a 3.5/5 just for the staff.

It’s far away from a three star hotel but it’s right in the centre and very convenient. The room is quite bare but the shower is hot there is a jog to make hot water. No cupboards but a hanger. The Wi-Fi is good. I was happy with the place

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! I have been to dozens of hotels and I have never seen that before. We arrived at the check in time and when we entered the room there was another man laying on the bed!!! We asked him to come out and see what was the mix up about and it appeared that the hotel had DOUBLEBOOKED the room! We had booked it 6 months ago on booking and the man 2 weeks ago on Airbnb and when I contacted the customer service of the so called hotel they cancelled MY reservation saying that it appears that I am the one that made the booking two weeks ago, that it is not their fault and NOONE ever came to speak to me! They just cancelled our reservation and we were left at the street with no room and on the phone with booking customer service for 6 hours. Stay away from that place!

Stay away from this place! This hotel was a complete disaster. The room was filthy, the smell was awful, and the bathroom door wouldn’t even close. One of the worst places I have ever stayed. On top of that, I couldn’t find a single staff member to report the issues. Absolutely unacceptable.
Xristina T — Google review
Stay away from this place - it doesn't worth not even one euro. The room was terrible. Dead insects on the walls, the sheets and duvet were dirty (hair and stains), the bathroom was highly unhygienic. There was also dust and hair on the air fan. Moreover, we couldn't open the windows because there was an unbearable smell coming from the outside (like sewage). The entrance hall was also very musty. The only positive is the location of the room. It ruined the whole trip for us.
KAt _ — Google review
I usually focus on the positives but this was one of the more challenging places I’ve stayed. Luckily it was only 1 night but paying more for a better hotel is VERY recommended. Aside from the apparent uncleanliness of dead bugs, black mold, and drain flies (see photos), our room smelt of sewage and opening the windows did nothing to help sadly. The smell was so present that it made sleeping nearly impossible and gave a headache. Only plus side- the location; stay here if you plan on dropping your bags for 1 night and being out all day AND all night. I’m only leaving this review in hopes that the owner(s) will give this location some TLC. If they would invest in cleaning it, it would be a great spot to stay in Valletta and would receive a lot of positive reviews!!
Hannah C — Google review
Before arriving I tried to contact the hotel per mail and facebook because the plane was landing at night but I received no response. Once there we tried to call the given number for the hotel however it was no longer attributed. Hoppefully we could contact the helpline of neckermann who took contact with the host. After waiting 40 Minutes on the street we were given codes to enter the hotel and our room. The room is nice with private bathroom. it contains air-conditioner a very good point. There is soap and hand-soap in the bathroom and a tiny hair-dryer. Negatives point for the room were the TV didn't work, the floor was not very clean and the water becoming colder after 15 minutes (problematic if you take a shower one after the other). There is a magnificent rooftop with a nice view next to the kitchen. The negative point of the kitchen is that there are no dish-washer and no hot water to clean one's dishes. We were on our own in the hotel but if more than 4 room had been booked we would have had trouble because of the small fridge, the tiny amount of plates and the only 2 cooking spots. Our experience was nice because we were the only ones in the hotel and could enjoy the kitchen, the rooftop and the calm on our room.
Noémie — Google review
The place doesn't deserve 3 stars, not even one. The location was the only best thing. The room was badly soundproofed, AC was noisy, dirty and used sheets with stains and hair, way too small and old bathroom, traces of dead mosquitoes. Rooftop is nice, though. Hopefully this place will improve in the future.
Tiger H — Google review
The room is large and pretty nice, and the hotel is in the center of Valletta, but : - there is NO phonic isolation so don’t expect to sleep after 6 a.m. We were awoke by cars honking in the street. Same thing for the other rooms, we can hear literally everything happening in the room next to our. - it’s not really dirty, nor really clean either. A lot of dust, we had to wash the glasses, the plate and the table before using it. - we’ve been here for 24h and never met anyone working here yet. So if you have reclaims... well, you keep it for yourself I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️ So, yes it is not expensive, but does your sleep have a price, really ?

Really convenient location and the apartment it's self was great. 2 things that could be improved. On several days the cleaner came and took all of the towels, and only left two new towels for 4 people. The other disappointment was the TV. My kids we're very unimpressed, every channel available seemed to be news based. Internet access was very good and although the pool is small it was very welcome in the Maltese heat.

Positives: Great location, working AC, hot water was always available, nice design of rooms, enough amenities in the room, enough towels, extra pillows of needed, a safe, blow dryer, extra rolls of toilet paper, liquid had soap and shampoo/bodywash Negatives: Check-in process (we did not have a positive experience during our check in process. 2 days before our arrival we received an email asking for a precise time of our arrival. We wrote back that we will arrive between 14:00 and 14:30. The property replied that they will be waiting for us. On the day of our check-in, we arrived at 14:10 and rang a bell. No one opened the door. We kept ringing the bell every 5-10 min thinking that maybe person was busy with something at the property, but no one answered or opened the door. It was not comfortable to stand outside in the heat and under the direct sun, but we thought we would wait until 15:00 before calling the phone number, which was give at their booking.com page. When we called the phone number the person the other side of the line was surprised that we called, but promised to send someone over and check us in. 20-25 min later the lady came. She was visibly irritated with us (even though we were polite during our phone call), she did not greet us, not did she apologised for the confusion or not being there as was previously agreed upon. She quickly gave us a sheet of paper with codes for front door and internet and left. In 5 min we figured out that we cannot connect to the internet with password that was given to us. Also, when I was passing the bed I noticed hair on the top of the bedsheet. I was surprised because none of us were on the bed and not my hair not my husband’s hair is short and black. I decided to remove the top sheet and what I saw were hairs of different length and colour scattered on the sheet. I decided to go down to reception, but no one was there. There was an American girl standing there. I asked her whether she saw a receptionist and she said that she was waiting there for the receptionist with whom she had agreed to meet on a specific day because the receptionist was supposed to call a taxi for the girl. I proposed to call a taxi, which I did, but when we called we were told that the taxi was already called (none of this was communicated to the American girl, which was worried that she cannot get to the airport in time). After that I called the property’s phone number again to ask for internet password and asked to change the sheets. The lady and a guy came in 15 min. She was yet again irritated and told us to use the password that she gave, we said that we do not know to what network we should connect to because none of the networks that we available accepted the password that she gave. Then she checked herself and was surprised to see that there were no available network for our room. The problem was solved .. we were given a password for a different network/room, while the strength of the signal was not great, it was enough to search the web. When we asked to change the sheets, the lady became defensive and tried to argue that she sheets were clean. I showed her hairs that were in sheets and after that the guy that was present with her convinced her to change our sheets. The room is nice, but it was badly cleaned. There were dust on the majority of surfaces, there were hairs and dirt on the floor, mold in our shower, sink was not properly cleaned, faucets were not cleaned/polished (the faucet in the shower even had hair hanging in it), and some places wall paper was ripped, mirrors were dirty, etc. Also, internet was bad, it was working on and off during the first 3 days of our stay and during the last 4 days internet in our room did not work at all and we had to sit in a hallway in order to have a chance to use the internet. Tried to use a microwave one morning to warm up food, but the cord for way to short in order to put it into the nearest socket. Summary: Great location. Staff needs to be more attentive, room better cleaned, and internet needs to be working.

The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, very good wifi which I was very happy about, located in central Valletta so it was easy to get around the city. I stayed at this hotel as a solo traveller, and I felt very safe, didn’t sense anything dodgy going about - the hotel’s taxi driver was always available when needed, charged fair prices and was also very kind. Great service, no complaints at all, highly recommend.

Very very good location but the place was not great. Room we got was on a ground floor. It didn’t have any view or direct sunlight. There was a mold/ watery/ moist smell in the apartment and the shower was broken so they just put the shower courtliness which I hate and it made entire bathroom wet. I would only recommend it if you care about location but not about place you sleep in.

Visitors appreciated the authentic Maltese hospitality provided by the hosts, who went out of their way to make them feel at home, organizing airport transfers and helping plan itineraries.
Paulos was a great choice for our stay in Valletta! Centrally located, easy to find, and helpful staff. The rooms were quite spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. We had a sea-view balcony that was an incredible addition to the room. Breakfast was basic, but included and a great start to each day. Great stay!!

Very friendly and helpful employees. The room was fully equipped clean and spacious. The mattress of the bed was really good!!We had room 102. Dont choose that room though if you are more than 1.65 high since the shower is small. There was also an odor of dampness in same parts (a bit in one of the 2 bedrooms and the bathroom) but generally speaking there is dampness all over malta. Breakfast was very satisfying and if you have it in the roof garden on the top of the building is perfect. There is an outstanding view. The hotel is beautiful decorated in the inside even if it seems very old and rather neglected from the outside. Actually all buildings are very very old in valetta. Within 2 min walk from the main streets of the city and with reasonable prices I recomend it.

Great location in the city centre with supermarket and food court just round the corner. Nice decor, comfy bed and friendly service. Breakfast mainly cold options with just scrambled eggs offered warm. The room was quite cold in February and the only option to heat it up was by setting air con on hot, which meant either a lot of noise at night or cold room.

The hotel is really right in the centre. Everywhere we wanted to go was a maximum of 5 minutes away from our hotel. The owners of the hotel work at breakfast in the mornings and they are really friendly❣️ When you go to breakfast, they ask you if you want a hot breakfast. If you do, you get scramble egg, bacon, sausage and grilled tomato. Also our room was cleaned every day💫

I spent 5 days for Business. Owners and employees are very nice. Location is perfect. Hotel decoration is really nice, authentic with a lot of small details. Hotel is full of soul. Room was super big, with a coffee machine. You can access to the hotel via a code. Self Check-in if you arrive late. Breakfast is the only bad point. You can eat outside though as you have all types of nice food around. Just next to a nice food court for example. I highly recommend.

Access to the bo-reception hotel is with a code to the front door and an envelope with name and room number inside. It worked flawlessly. The room was fine and clean with a small kitchen, refrigerator, coffee machine and toaster. The shower was made in an old narrow staircase - very charming. The beds are way too soft for my taste and two very nice bed lamps had no sockets to plug them into. Worse is the lack of sound proofing between hallway and room. We stayed in the room that everyone has to pass and the scrambling of feet and talk went right through the door undamped. Luckily it went silent around midnight. Breakfast was fine and we were offered scrambled eggs and bacon in addition to coffee and the standard buffet. The hotel advertised help to get to the airport, but it took several tries and finally a very clear statement to make the fulfill that offer.

We spent a week here, and had a fantastic experience! The hotel is in a beautiful location, just a few minutes walk from all the major sights in Valletta. The room was spacious and stylish, and the building itself has a lot of character. Finally, the people were fantastic. The check in process was easy and we were made to feel very welcome by everyone there. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Malta.

Rooms Malta offers a delightful blend of traditional and contemporary design, featuring beautifully crafted interiors with exposed sandstone walls adorned with modern art. The furniture is sleek and minimalist, creating a serene atmosphere. Guests can enjoy complimentary croissants and coffee while taking advantage of bike rentals for exploring the area. Conveniently situated in Valletta, just a short stroll from notable attractions like the Grandmaster's Palace and Upper Barrakka Gardens, Rooms Malta ensures an enjoyable stay with attentive service.
I rented the apartment for 6 months. The renting process was smooth and they were really helpful with a lawyer when I needed one for my residence permit. The apartment was also really nice and the staffs are friendly and compassionate. It's a really good housing agency for me.

I stayed with Rooms Malta for 5 months during my internship. Well, we don't have to talk about the state of the rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen because what can we expect from a shared apartment- not much. The booking process with managing all the required documents was indeed smooth, but I had some problems with receiving the deposit. I am under the impression, that if I haven't reached out myself to receive the deposit, I would never have received it. After my first reach out, I received an email that the security deposit will be automatically released 14 days after the check out day. Waiting two weeks, nothing happened so I reached out again only to discover that they first need my bank information? Couldn't they write it sooner? After I gave them all the details, I received my deposit back, but 60 euros were deducted, without giving me any explanation why. And of course, when I asked, no reply was given...

Horrible. The communication is horrendous. Often times things would be "fixed" by only covering the problem (like just painting over mold). I tried to contact the maintenance so many times about my mattress because it was the thinnest thing I've ever seen, but after two months of them promising me a new one and that it's "on the way" and like 15 emails later they tell me that they never planned to change it and that there's nothing wrong with it. The worst was after moving out. Not only was my deposit return delayed as much as possible and I couldn't get a response from them, they also took out around 200 euros from the deposit for damages that were already there and are clearly recorded in my check-in video. I'm still constantly calling and emailing even though it has bet more than 3 months after I've moved out. The most unprofessional experience ever. Don't recommend at all. EDIT: I have to say it is truly embarrassing for Rooms Malta that they only respond here, even though I've made many calls and sent many emails. I have addressed the claims that I've received as a reply to this comment in an email in a concise way, outlining why those claims are not grounded and yet all I get back is this dismissive reply? DO NOT rent here unless you wanna communicate with them through google reviews. Absurd.

I stayed with RoomsMalta for 9 months, and while the booking, contract, and deposit payment process was smooth, the experience was terrible overall. The flat was in poor condition—broken windows, a faulty shower, and other issues. I checked my room but overlooked the common areas since others were already living there, but when I reported the shower issue after a week, they charged me for the repair. Later, they replaced the windows (without complaints) and billed me again. One flatmate stole from others and threatened me when confronted, even barging into my room once. I reported this to RoomsMalta with video proof, but they only "warned" him. It was only after another flatmate complained that they asked him to leave. When I moved out, they delayed returning my deposit for over a month and ignored my emails. After I mentioned reporting them to the Malta Housing Authority, they responded, claiming I hadn't paid the last month’s rent. I provided proof, and they then deducted money for damages, including mold I had previously reported but they never addressed. Overall, the experience was a nightmare, and I was relieved to leave. I recommend staying here only as a last resort. If you do, document all communication via email and ensure they acknowledge it.

I rented a private bedroom with an ensuite bathroom in a shared apartment in Ta’Xbiex from February to June 2025. During this period, Rooms Malta consistently failed to meet its responsibilities as a property manager. I’m sharing my experience to help inform and caution future tenants, particularly international students. Here are some of the key issues I encountered: - Unclean Conditions and Unfair Fines: The property had not been properly cleaned before move-in. Two weeks later, each tenant was fined €35 for uncleanliness, mainly due to shared bathrooms I never even used, as my room had a private one. Rooms Malta was unwilling to discuss the issue or provide adequate cleaning supplies. - Unsafe and Ignored Appliance Issue: The washing machine, listed in the contract's inventory, was dangerously faulty; unable to wash clothes, emitting smoke and making loud noises. Despite video evidence, Rooms Malta dismissed our concerns and even suggested we had caused the issue by blowing cigarette smoke into the machine. Although the contract states issues would be addressed within 36 hours, it took nearly a week and multiple emails before anyone inspected it, and even longer before it was replaced. In the meantime, we had to pay for a laundromat, which they refused to reimburse, stating: “We’re a property management company, not a supplier of appliances.” - Lack of Transparency: Before signing, I asked about the other tenants, as I’m a 21-year-old woman who prefers living with other students or women. Rooms Malta refused to share any basic details. Upon arrival, I discovered I was living with three men, one of whom was in his late 30s. - Unannounced Visitors: Rooms Malta failed to notify us of property visits or new tenant arrivals. On one occasion, I woke up to unfamiliar men in the kitchen. They were there to replace the washing machine, but we had received no prior notice. - Deposit Delays & Poor Communication:
Despite the contract promising deposit returns within 14 working days, neither I nor my two former housemates received our deposits on time. When we reached out, Rooms Malta claimed they lacked our bank details - despite having received rent from us for months. When I asked about unexplained deductions from my deposit, Rooms Malta only replied after a month, during which I had to send three follow-up emails. Their response included no apology or explanation for the delay. Instead, my questions were dismissed, with a suggestion that I "refer to previous emails"—none of which clarified the additional fees. - Excessive Extra Fees:
Rooms Malta adds charges for nearly everything: €35 check-in, €20 contract fee, €55 check-out, €20 for pillows - over €100 in extra costs, making the stay more expensive.

I stayed here for over a month and it was an absolute nightmare from beginning to end. First, I didn’t even get proper confirmation that the apartment existed after paying the deposit — no communication, nothing. When I finally arrived, the lights in my room weren’t working, and I was casually told that the whole place had been without electricity just before my arrival. Door hinges squeaked loudly every time they were opened, and by the end of my stay, the locks stopped working completely, even though they had supposedly been “serviced” only weeks before. The hidden fees are shameless. There is a mandatory pillow casing fee of €10 per pillow, which you have to pay even if you don’t use it. The cleaning fee was written in the contract as €25, but by the time I left, they demanded €35 instead. Meanwhile, I personally mopped the place three times and even cleaned the windows and mirrors myself, so the extra charge felt like nothing but a scam. And if anything breaks, the “fees” they threaten you with are absurdly high and completely unjustifiable. The pricing system is also a rip-off. A month costs €610, but if you stay just a few extra days (like me — one month and four days), they slap on an additional €100. Absolutely ridiculous. Deposit came short and late. It was nothing like 14 working days like they said in the office. In short: poor communication, broken lights, squeaky doors, failing locks, endless hidden charges, inflated cleaning fees, and exploitative rent pricing. I did meet some new friends while in Malta, but the living conditions here were unbearable. This place is dishonest, unprofessional, and not worth your money. NOT RECOMMENDED.

I organized my staying with Casa Rooms in Malta. They are very helpful and accessible in general. And they also support all the paperworks that expats need. Well-recommended.

My stay with RoomsMalta was okay, but there were numerous problems in the apartment. Carolina Flats is in serious need of a makeover. We experienced problems with little cockroaches in the kitchen, despite the fact that we informed RoomsMalta and they sent pest control, who were unable to remove the bugs. Aside from that, it is unbearably hot in the kitchen during the summer, and cooking only adds to the heat. We didn't have air conditioning, which is essential in Malta during the hot summer months. We had a fan, but it didn't help much in the kitchen. During my stay, the washing machine broke four times and flooded once because it failed to discharge the water. We did, however, clean the filter on a regular basis, but RoomsMalta accused us, which resulted in a charge. They sent us a new washing machine after we complained about it several times with other flatmates, but they forgot to attach it to the ground. As a result, the washing machine began to spin and move around the bathroom. The fridge broke as I was composing an email about it, and they charged us again for a 'false call' from the maintenance staff. However, when the maintenance staff arrived, they informed us that there was a problem with the refrigerator, which they repaired. The email from RoomsMalta stated the reverse, that we had broken it and that it was our fault. This makes me think that they make up different stories to charge us. However, I informed them via email that I did not agree with their fake call accusation. But I haven't received a response from them, which makes it dodgy. Also, I have yet to receive my entire deposit refunded. I'm missing 61 euros and have requested an invoice detailing where the money went. You cannot simply withdraw money from my deposit without telling me where it went. I have yet to receive a response to this question. RoomsMalta, in my experience, blames the tenants in order to collect more and more money... I've heard that the accommodations are far too pricey for what you get.

Beautiful air conditioned apartment at a top location. Shower drain was clogged, causing flooding in the bathroom, but I assume that that will be fixed.

We stayed for three nights here. Very clean apartment that had everything we needed for our stay. Good view from window too. The lady that did the housekeeping was wonderful. Managed to sort out our taxi driver when he said he couldn’t get to the appartments! She went out of her way to help. We will definitely be using them again

Location of the apartment was perfect. It is in the old town so you of course cannot expect to park a car there but you can unload your stuff and it is near the main bus station. The building and apartment are old, but both renovated. It is a middle standard with some nice local stone accents. It is spacious. There were European socket adapters which was nice. Internet speed is decent 300/30 Mbit. There is a lift but before you can enter it you need to climb around 10 steps and after getting out as well to enter the apartment. I would have rated it 4/5 if it were not for the host. Speaking of negatives, there are many imperfections like the main door with a 1 cm. hole through which you can hear all your neighbors or the ants are entering. No privacy in the bathroom nor place to leave your stuff. Broken balcony door (hard to open, locks not matching, etc) or some shelf improperly attached. Dirty sofa or chairs. The fire extinguisher was last revised in 2017 and is not compliant with Malta's law. But who would care about it for a short stay? But the total "no go" are the hosts. We had a "pleasure" to meet Roberto and talk to Clifford. They do not want to understand your arguments. Moreover they are totally unsympathetic and have no empathy. I had sent them 4 different screenshots confirming that we had ordered a cot / crib but they still did not believe us and thought that we were making it up. Probably they have misconfigured some setting in Booking's UI thus it was not visible at a first glance. But they have accepted our request which can be seen on the screenshot. They provided the cot the next day (our requests to provide it for the first night were ignored). So the toddler had to sleep in our bed the first night and she unfortunately escaped and accidentally broke one vase (we reported it to the cleaning lady). According to Clifford it was our fault cause we should watch our kid 24/7. He did not accept the argument that it would not have happened in the first place if we had had a cot on time. Normally we would have paid him the 45 euros requested for the damage and lived happily after. But we did not accept his impolite attitude, I'm not saying that he should return payment for the first night (~150€) or part of it for causing danger to our kid and making life harder to us. We expected at least a simple apology, but we got accusations and incomprehension instead. So we decided not to pay for the vase and asked him to solve it through Booking. Take it from the deposit or his insurance. Afterwards he said that we would need to leave. We said that it was no problem but he had first to refund us the upcoming nights. He did not want to do that. Instead he said that they were coming and arrived to the apartment to shout at us in front of our 2 years old child. Nice way of teaching. Probably he thought that it would be easy to intimidate a family with child. He wanted to call the police and we agreed but then he changed his mind. He left and afterwards we got even more offensive messages on WhatsApp. Our booking got canceled - as a "no go" (now you know why the rating is so high - cause he probably solves all problems this way). Thus we decided to go to the police ourselves and tell them our part of the story and make a report. They were nice and understanding, called the guy, told us not to worry and not to pay for the vase. Again we would have done it if they said so. Luckily the stalking stopped and we could enjoy the rest of our holidays in the beautiful Valletta. P.S if you do not believe me just read host answers on Google or Booking.

Great location, right in the heart of the city. The apartment is basically a bed sit with a small kitchen double bed and lounge all in an open planned space. The decor is good but the suite we had was unloved and needed some work, and where repairs had been made it was sloopy and stood out against the original high standard. We found the bed uncomfortable especially the pillows which felt like they had been filled with concrete. It was also ricketty and very noisy!

Booked through an agent and then kept receiving texts and emails asking for my card details. When I emailed the booking agent to check the validity, the owner became rude and called me 'difficult' for not wanting to give out my card details. Reading the other reviews, I can see his attitude is a common theme. What a shame.

Mouldy smelling rooms in a great location. <br/>Pros. Great location, lovely glimpses of the waterways and cities. <br/>Cons. Ridiculous rules e.g. apartment to be kept clean and tidy? What are you my mother? Large 'Fines' for this and that. <br/>Broken balcony door keeping room freezing at all times.<br/>Hallway and stairs literally smell like the catacombs.<br/>Mould in the bathroom out of control. <br/>Bathroom stinks of dangerous black mould. <br/>Broken and chipped tiles.<br/>Leaking kitchen sink onto floor<br/>Bed hard as limestone<br/>Pillows hard as steel pillars<br/>No curtains in main living area, people can look right inside at you from the upper garden tourist attraction next door. In the morning you can expect 100 people looking in at you. <br/>Graffiti on the wall roughly painted over, you can still read it. <br/>Hip replacement? Broken ankle? Arthritis? Wheelchair? Forget it you are sleeping in the hall. Even after the lift you have additional stairs. <br/>Management contacted via whatsapp and phone messages regarding critical matters. Zero replies to any queries. I find this unacceptably rude. Obviously customers are a nuisance and are to be avoided. A small attempt was made to clean the mould but the chemical was left on for us to discover and we had to rinse it off, only 50% of visible mould was attended to. <br/>So 2 points for location -3 for disappointing attitude and performance and lack of maintenance.<br/>Left suite 4 on the 17th May 2019 this review is VERY real how dare you suggest it is fake.

We stayed here for a week for a 50th Birthday celebration, we stayed in the top floor flat over 2 levels with a spiral staircase separating the bedroom and kitchen/ lounge area. The apartment has a great location with the terrace overlooking the Grand Harbour and Upper Barraka Gardens, with housekeeping visiting daily and owners Roberto and Cliff seemed very nice when they visited. The TV stopped working on the Sat afternoon and Roberto visited with in the hour to advise that it may be Monday before they could repair/replace, it was however replaced on the Sunday evening which was great. I would point out a couple of downsides the roof terrace is exposed to the elements and had no sun shade/parasol so could not be used all day, and the temperature was only 23 degrees, the seating provided was 2 rattan chairs and one small glass table, this could be improved with perhaps sun loungers, a larger table, parasol and seat cushions,? The lounge area had 2 small tub chairs which were uncomfortable if you used them for any length of time, a small sofa would have been more useful. The double bed mattress has seen better days, it was rock solid and both myself and husband did not sleep a full night for the 7 days we stayed in the apartment, we both are now suffering from sore hips, neck and backache. We have visited Malta before and will visit again but perhaps not to the Barraka Suites

Palazzo Valletta Suites is a refined establishment housed in a restored 16th-century edifice, featuring an internal courtyard and suites that exude old-world charm. The spacious accommodations are tastefully adorned, while the modern and impeccably clean kitchens and bathrooms provide utmost convenience. The amiable proprietor Franck ensures that every traveler's needs are met with great thoughtfulness.
I've stayed twice at the historic and romantic Palazzo Valletta. The suites in this charming facility are huge and comfortable and beautifully furnished, the kitchens and bathrooms are modern and spotless, and the gracious and welcoming owner Franck has anticipated a traveler's every needs. The Palazzo is conveniently located to take in beautiful Valletta's marvels, and within a 3 minute walk to a park that overlooks one of Valletta's spectacular harbors. There is an elevator. The Palazzo is quiet and solid, and it is a treat to stay in a facility that was once the home of a Knight of Malta. I recommend the Palazzo to all my friends.

A wonderful week in an amazing little establishment - so good that we quickly re-booked for a return visit! We enjoyed an exceptionally well-equipped suite, with delicious and varied breakfasts every day, in this beautifully restored and ancient property. It's a quiet, peaceful and adult environment for those who want to experience the quintessential Valletta, with a quirky charm and perfectly located for exploring the hidden corners of the City as well as the main areas. Thanks to Franck, Jacob and all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable: see you again soon! (BTW, I was a bit confused by some of the photos which have nothing to do with Palazzo Valletta Suites, and I suspect the same may apply to some of the comments as well.)

Absolutely great. Frank , the owner, welcomed us with such hospitality we immediately felt at home. Mike or Misha (short for Michael, Mikhail?) was very helpful. While the English b'fast was not plentiful, it was still very good - served by Mike!!! Not buffet... Very personal service & posh. We stayed 4 nights but were very reluctant to leave. Wanted to stay longer but we were committed to a tour of Turkey. On the last day, Frank turned up to wish us a safe trip... Pity that we had to leave early the next morning...

There are hotels and then there is Palazzo Valletta Suites. Have you experienced the feeling of coming home to a dear old friend? That is the feeling when you walk through the doors and into this house from early 1600. As a "hotell", it has everything you could ask for. Added to this is the friendly owner Frank (also a living history book) and his helpful staff. But the icing of the cake is the athmosphere in this historical palazzo/house. If we will be coming back? Guess 😊👍

The apartments feature a shower, small kitchenette, double bed, sofa bed, microwave, and a charming balcony. Guests can enjoy a lovely roof terrace with city views and a relatively new elevator. While the central location is ideal for exploring the area on foot and enjoying nearby restaurants, some guests noted potential noise from a nearby pub.

Check in and check out are carried out completely independently as the structure is accessed by entering codes at the doors of both the entrance to the building and the room. Well furnished but slightly dirty rooms. The view from the small terrace on the fourth floor is beautiful but more maintenance would be needed. For the rest, the house is equipped with all the essentials. (Original) Appartamento sito al centro di La Valletta. (Translated by Google) The accommodation is located in the middle of the city center, shops and restaurants are in the immediate vicinity. The apartment has good internet. The roof terrace is freely accessible to all guests and offers a magnificent view over Valetta. At least in winter the apartment is very cold. The air conditioning units are theoretically able to heat, but two of the three units in our apartment (on the 3rd floor) did not work. In winter, be sure to take slippers or flip-flops with you, the apartment is tiled and therefore very cold underfoot. Unfortunately, the apartment was only superficially clean; there was hair and lint from previous tenants in places that were obviously not easily accessible, such as under the bed and bedside tables. The few dishes were also not particularly clean. Basic things like dishwashing tablets, dish soap, sugar, salt, and coffee maker were missing in the kitchen. There was a population of mosquitoes in our apartment that robbed us of sleep at night. Be sure to take mosquito spray or other mosquito repellent with you.

Let me put it this way: just because the view is nice and it's near the centre, it doesn't mean the place should be rented in such a horrible condition. First of all, it was health and safety hazards at the entrance, causing me to fall down due to abstracted entrance. Secondly, the facilities were unexpectedly bad condition, and I felt like we entered a homeless house, with furniture from a charity shop. The dirt was everywhere, and both towels and bedding were not clean. Third, and most importantly, taking "nice" pictures and creating an illustration of a totally different studio apartment should be prohibited. The last thing I want to add is that for the price like we have paid, taking into consideration the off-season period, and a su h a low quality of accommodation, the price is worth to paying should be -50% of what we have paid. Guests have praised the apartment for its ideal location, being within walking distance to the bus station and ferry to Silema. The rooms are well-equipped and clean, with comfortable beds.
We were in Malta for 4 days at short notice and rented a room here. The location was excellent, in the middle of the old town: everything can be reached within minutes. nevertheless very quiet. the rooms were very clean and furnished with good beds. The care was great! Received all information from the lessor via Whatsapp before arrival. we can really recommend the apartment to everyone. thank you, Jesmond!

We almost went to this hotel this year but Malta has made a decision that only fully vaccinated people can go therefore we had to cancel our reservation. We wrote an email in which we asked for help because we lost all of our money that we had to send to the apartment in advanced. No answer. A few day goes by and Malta changed the order, everybody could go again... We tried to get in contact with the host (calling them, writing an sms and email) and still no answer, they disappeared..with our money. Not recommend

(Translated by Google) Excellent service. The apartment was in a very central area of Valletta. Just 15 minutes walk from the bus station stop, which is very convenient if you want to get around the country. Plus, it was also about 10 minutes from the ferry to Silema. Ideal location. The apartment was perfectly equipped. It was obvious that they had experience in hospitality. First, the owner communicated with us very kindly and explained where to get different things. Also, although it is not a relevant fact, he has a chihuahua that is beautiful and I, who am an animal lover, appreciated seeing it from time to time. The room had two huge and very comfortable double beds and a wonderful little terrace from which you (barely) could see the sea. The room also had air conditioning, which is appreciated with the high temperatures in Malta in summer. But, above all, I want to emphasize a small detail that in my opinion is what indicates the owner's interest and experience: not only did he have two adapters to charge the phones, but he also left a small anti-mosquito device to connect in case of damage. that there were many. I emphasize this because I have traveled a lot and few owners are so considerate. We are very happy to have chosen Sunrise Apartment. (Original) Excelente servicio.

This was our second stay in Panoramic. The accommodation is stunning and the host could not be more helpful. From the booking to contacting a driver to pick us up from the airport, nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation in on two levels with the bedroom and bathroom downstairs with the living area up a small set of stairs. The place is comfortable with aircon if you need it. There is a lovely balcony with which to watch the square below and listen to the sounds. Valletta is crazy busy but this place allows you to be in the central part of it without having to be consumed with the noise and goings on. We shall be back, this place is that good. Cliff and Liz

Exceptional!!! We stayed in the penthouse at U Collection, Valetta, Jan 2022. And we will be coming back! The entrance is very stylish and clean, with a red carpet giving a luxurious feel. The Maltese clock on the stairs is the finest we saw in Malta and its stunning to look at. Wait and see!!! You have a lift to bring you up to the duplex Penthouse and it's a very smart mix of comfortable modern and antique furniture with tiled floors. A great kitchen, fast wi-fi connection and a huge smart TV with Netflix, YouTube etc.give you all your home comforts. There is a big comfy sofa bed and a very comfortable king size double bed on the top floor. Finished with a very stylish bathroom with a rain shower make this U Collection an amazing base for exploring Malta. But it gets better...There are 3 balconies/terraces with stunning views, I mean, really exceptional views. Then you have a huge warm rockstar jacuzzi on the lower terrace. Its brilliant!!! You are in the very centre of Valetta and its so convenient. There's a supermarket 1 min away, in Is-Suq Tal-Belt food hall for your essentials. (Don't be tempted by the food in here, it was poor compared to other places we ate. The Submarine takeaway (Triq il-merkanti 42) does an exceptional sandwich, Porchetta Ftira a must buy!!!) The locals are very friendly and helpful and its feels very safe. If your from the UK or Ireland the plug sockets are the same 3 pin. And the Maltese drive on the correct side of the road (just a bit faster ;) Malta is so much more than I realised. It's history is crazy but the food is amazing, I wasn't expecting so much variety of such high quality. It's a food lovers paradise and great value for money. From street food to Michelin star restaurants. I can honestly say as a Chef that it is the best place I have eaten consistently great food. The choice of places to eat near the penthouse is staggering. You will not be able to try them all so make a list of places you would like to try before you go and with luck you'll up in a tiny amazing restaurant that you never heard of online. We did a few times. I now have a great list of places to eat and places I want to try next time. Umberto organised a concierge service to collect us from the airport and bring us back. Matthew looked after us brilliantly and is highly recommended if you need a driver/concierge service. We had a one issue whilst staying and Umberto had the problem resolved within an hour. 10/10 This was a 5 * experience, we loved every minute in Malta, even when it was freezing on an open top bus. I would 100% recommend staying at U Collection, just don't tell everyone as it will be booked out. ;)

Hostel
Vallettastay Lovely House offers a comfortable stay in Valletta, just a short walk from Malta Experience and Grand Harbour. The guesthouse features 5 well-equipped rooms with complimentary Wi-Fi. While some guests found the communication about the hostel's address confusing, they appreciated other aspects of their stay and would return. Although some felt that the price was reasonable, they were disappointed that they couldn't control the air conditioning in their individual rooms.
The communication regarding the different address of the hostel versus what we thought was the hostel could have been clearer, especially since we had our driver drop us off with our gear and I’m disabled and use a walking machine, so traipsing up and down the steep streets of Valetta with bags and a rollator wasn’t that much fun but we loved every other aspect of our stay and would return again, no question. Our room was on the second floor (which is the third by US standards) and the building is, like, 450 years old. It has a private patio area that’s in the middle of all the surrounding building so it’s just this beautiful protected area that you look up six stories and see the sky. There’s no lift, so I pretty much had to crawl up and down the stairs but it was totally worth it. Our room was amazing and had one of the ubiquitous balconettes that are found in Malta. We were there over Christmas and it could not have been a more perfect holiday. The town of Valetta is simply awash with Christmas lights. I’ve never seen so many lights anywhere else. Highly recommend.

I had a great stay here and loved it. The location is perfect and the room I had was great. (Upper floor facing the street) If you have problems with stairs, don't book here. They are steep and narrow. There is no one here so if you have a problem, you'll need to call or send them an email. They are a few streets over at a different hotel. The doors are not well insulated so you can hear everything. I was lucky and no one came by my door. Overall, I loved it but it might not be for everyone.
Anna G — Google review
There are 2 different buildings for this company but is not specified anywhere, not even on the email that they send to you giving you the instructions for your staying. Half of the email it was crossed so I didn't understand if I needed to follow those instructions or not and I didn't see any of the owners, not for the check-in nor for the check out. The water is not drinkable but they gave us only one bottle of water and they didn't change the sheets if you stay there only two nights. Besides the blanket are two different blankets, even if the bed is double. The only good thing is that the room is cheap and characteristic.
Tom D — Google review
Price value is ok, but it still annoying that you can't turn on the AC in the bedroom. It is a huge waste of energy to cool the whole apartment from the kitchen to spill over to the bedroom.

(Translated by Google) The lady was very nice and helpful, it's a pity that the "apartment" is tiny, without a fridge AND kitchenette, with dubious cleanliness and a non-existent bed. We basically slept on a camping mattress placed on a wooden table. There was a strong mixed musty-mold smell and there is only one window overlooking a very dirty courtyard with a car wreck. Don't worry about the alarm clock, the bells of the adjacent church will take care of it from 6.30 to 10.30 in the morning with regular chimes every hour! C’era un forte odore misto chiuso-muffa e vi è una sola finestra che da su un cortile sporchissimo e con una carcassa di automobile. (Translated by Google) The only positive is the location which is right down Valletta's busiest and most useful road. The room was dirty, there were no slippers so walking in the socks would turn black. There was moisture and mold in the room, especially in the kitchen. There were no soaps for showers and papers for general use. The room was full of mosquitoes. There were only two body towels and one for the face and none for the hands. The sheets were very used and dirty as well as the blanket. There was no toothpaste and generally no provision. While there are mosquitoes there was no mosquito repellent. The photos have nothing to do with reality. No one greeted us at the accommodation and there were no instructions to find it. After asking for some of the above the owner gave us a used paper towel and soaps left by previous guests, some finished. Sad because its cost is considered above average and it has absolutely no provision while it is also dirty.

(Translated by Google) My colleague and I spent four nights in this apartment. It had a vintage charm yet was very modern, with a modern kitchen and bathroom. Despite being in the heart of the capital, Valletta, our apartment was very quiet; we never heard tourists going out or cars. We had a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. It was clean and well-maintained, except for the floor being a bit dusty on the first day. We reported this, and it was cleaned immediately; by the evening, we had clean floors. Everything was very easy to get to. It was a two-minute walk to the city center with its many museums, and a ten-minute walk to the bus station. In addition to the air conditioning, it had a ceiling fan. I can recommend this accommodation to anyone who wants peace and quiet to relax and wants to be able to reach everything in Malta's capital quickly on foot.
