Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore is a stunning white marble church with a domed roof, designed by Palladio as a commemoration of the Black Death. Every year, on the third weekend of July, Venetians and tourists come together to celebrate the Festa del Redentore. A temporary bridge connects the island of Giudecca to Venice's Zattere, and locals make a pilgrimage across it.
Magnificent church constructed in the 16th Century as a symbol of perseverance after a plague epidemic.
The P — Google review
Very nice catholic church built few hundred centuries ago. The entrance is free of charge.
Matej — Google review
The Plague of 1575-77 claimed a third of Venice's populace - 46,000 lives. Andrea Palladio was commissioned to design this votive church, also to accommodate an annual procession led by the Doge from San Marco to the Church of the Redeemer, passing over the Giudecca Canal via a pontoon bridge. 'The Festa del Redentore' is celebrated every third Sunday of July.
Loo Y — Google review
It was built as a debt of gratitude for the liberation from the plague epidemic that scypped Venice during 1575-1576. During this epidemic period, more than 46,000 people, equivalent to 25-30 percent of the population, died. The Senate commissioned the great architect Andrea Palladio to design the church. Construction work started in May 1577. The structure was at a satisfactory level and was consecrated in 1592.
Vedat D — Google review
Il Redentore is an impressive church with a striking presence on the waterfront. The architecture is elegant, and visiting it gives a sense of the local history and traditions.
Dacian M — Google review
Great place that really adds to the magic of venice specially when you are standing in the main plaza
Marc C — Google review
Absolute Masterpiece, inside and out. Built by Palladio as a Votive Church as a Thank you for overcoming a plague. It was consecrated in 1592 🎟 we bought a Vaporetto pass online, which we exchanged at a booth outside the Santa Lucia train station = this way we could criss cross Venice, without bothering to get a ticket. And sometime they give you priority boarding
Traveler — Google review
Ok Church. You have to pay an entrance fee. While only 3 Euros, it is not even close as the free churches in terms of beauty. Happy we went to see it as everything can be an experience.

Basilica Santa Maria della Salute, also known as the Salute, is a stunning baroque church in Venice. Its iconic domed design and monumental facade by architect Baldassare Longhena make it a favorite among Venetians. Built in 1681 to commemorate the city's survival from a plague outbreak, the church houses important artworks by renowned artists such as Titian and Tintoretto.
A nice place to visit at the Southern part of Venice. A really pretty view too. Personally I’ve sat in front of the whole basilica just to watch the view for more than 30 minutes. Would highly recommend taking a look!
Ozan Ç — Google review
Fabulous and iconic Venetian church, designed by Baldassare Longhena (1598-1682), it looks great inside and out. Its characteristic dome can be seen from many angles across Venice. With the outside newly renovated, it looks better than ever.
Nils P — Google review
The basilica itself is free, so definitely worth a visit. To get a view from the top, you have to go there to scan the qr code to book a slot. There's quite a few stairs up, and it's tight and windy but the view is lovely. However, it is very tight at the top and I think they let slightly too many people go up there. I think half the group size would be much better. Bare in mind too that once you're up there, you can't leave till the tour guide says you can. It's about half an hour up there.
Ben — Google review
This is of course one of the primary sites of interest in Venice and filled with great works by the master Titian. The main altar too is spectacular. The marble flooring directly under the famous dome is not currently accessible and there is some repair work going on. The church is free to enter.
Michael O — Google review
A rather impressive sight from the outside (immersive and very detail, white marble with plenty of details carved), very nicely located for "viewing" all the way from St. Marco. Amazing sight indeed. Rather simplistic in the inside but still a marvel of architecture!
Stelios A — Google review
One of the most photographed objects in Venice but with a rather uninteresting interior. The best light is just before sunrise coming into Canal Grande from the lagoon with the vaporetto.
Sebastian R — Google review
Lovely place, in a fab location. I did the dome tour too, which was good. Make sure you're on time though, cos Mr Man doesn't wait for sluggards! It's a load of steps up, and there are a couple of half interesting spots on the way up, but it's not like going up St Paul's. It's all about the view from the top, which is pretty good, and not too high, but its not a patch on the view from the Campanile (or St Georgio), mainly because you can only look out to the north over the Grand Canal. It's a bit cramped too.
Charles W — Google review
Beautiful domed basilica on the water. The outside is best views in early morning or late evening from the bridge or across the grand canal.

Vogalonga is a popular event that takes place in Venice every May, attracting over a thousand participants. Another notable event is the Regata delle Befane, held on the day of Epiphany in January, where rowers dress up as the Befana, a witch-like figure from Italian folklore. The Vogalonga offers well-organized parking and launching facilities with cranes for eights. Participants have praised it as a super event that everyone should experience at least once.
Super event! Everyone sould try once!

(Translated by Google) Very well organized: Parking and launching with the cranes - also for eights. Thanks for the event. Maybe for future events: The slower kayaks / canoes should be driven more on the edge - then maybe it would run even more smoothly. Overall a great experience - mille Grazie from Switzerland (Lucerne). (Original) Sehr gut organisiert.: Parkplatz und Einwassern mit den Kranen - auch für Achter. Danke für die Veranstaltung. The Magic Venice Carnival is a celebration filled with history and tradition. The event was once banned due to misuse of masks, but it made a comeback in the 1960s. Visitors can explore family-run shops offering handmade papier-mâché masks, porcelain dolls, and period costumes. These authentic Venetian masks are not only beautiful but also reasonably priced considering their top-notch quality.
Carnival in Venice is fantastic to see as a spectator, as we did this year in February. You will witness ordinary people strolling the streets in extraordinary outfits. These outfits are not cheap. The last price I heard was €500 a day as the norm. That was several years ago. Or you could be wearing the outfit and be famous for a day or more as hundreds take your picture. There are also masked balls, dinners, afternoon tea, etc. We did take part some years back, and it was a blast.

I had a wonderful shopping experience! The TriAngel is beautifully crafted with intricate details. The costume is stunning, and its facial expression is lively and warm. The seller was incredibly kind, even including a small Christmas gift for me. I wish the shop all the best and will definitely recommend it to my friends for purchasing TriAngels!
Hui C — Google review
Three year ago, I went to Italy for hoilday, and it is the first time to buy the doll from yours, nice people and lovely Triangel. Last month, it is the 2nd time to buy the doll on line with a discount price. Although it is discount price, but the quality was the same and the dolls was so nice and I love it very much, and it is a very good Christmas gift for me. I like the smile face for the Triangel the most, hope to see you again in Italy very soon. Thanks again Grace for helping me to buy the wedding gift for friend! It is so nice for a couple doll with the sofa. I am also buying the birthday gift for me, the green cuddle triangle is so lovely with the smiling face! Stay well and always have a good day for you!
Shirley R — Google review
We truly loved this shop! When we came to Venice we knew that we wanted some REAL Venetian masks, not the fake ones you see on the streets. I picked out a couple, some were gifts and the recipients loved them! They have a wide selection of designs and styles, and all are reasonably priced considering that they are hand made - and the quality is top-notch! I could have spent hours in this store, and I'd love to come back someday if I find myself in Venice again. Thank you for our favorite gifts from Italy!
Cody P — Google review
Strongly recommended for someone who visit Venice and is interested in hand-made local souvenirs. Everything inside is amazingly beautiful. The owners are very patient and helpful. Will visit this shop again next time in Venice!!
Yuxin L — Google review
I bought my TriAngels online that I already looked forward to for years and received them just before the Christmas holiday! They are well packed and look so cute and elegant. Love the extra Christmas angel from them as a gift as well!
Kathleen Q — Google review
Adore the TriAngel- excellent addition to our collection. Professional, responsive, and cordial customer service. Would recommend this shop and will probably find another gift to purchase.

Bought my very first TriAngel in their Venice store. My favourite purchase in Italy. Very impressed with the beauty and workmanship of the TriAngels. Lots of pretty TriAngels and masks. Grandma and her daughter, Grazia are very friendly. My honor to be able to take a picture with Grandma. Grazia, grandma's daughter assisted with our online order for my second and third TriAngels(Blue and Pink). Will definitely order and visit again to add on to my collection.

Rio della Sensa is a charming district in Venice, located to the north of the ghetto. It offers a more authentic Venetian experience away from the touristy areas. The area is known for its beautiful canals opening onto the lagoon and picturesque stone and brick bridges. One of its famous events is the Festa della Sensa (Feast of the Ascension), featuring the symbolic wedding between the Duke and the Sea in Sposalizio del Mare.
(Translated by Google) This district of Venice to the north of the ghetto is the most typical, far from the tourist crowds of San Marco or Rialto. Beautiful walks where the canals open onto the lagoon, this is also where you can best see the facades of the houses, the multiple stone and brick bridges, the boats anchored in front of the Venetian houses. I was very impressed by the Arsenale segment of the 2025 Architecture Biennale. This year's edition is taking full advantage of the latest technologies such as 3D printing and AI and poses important questions regarding these technologies and sustainability. Also don't miss the structure designed by the Norman Foster Foundation and Porsche and the floating barge in the harbor (to be transported to the COP30 meeting in Brazil).

(Translated by Google) Very nice little fair. Start number distribution was very well organized, you could try on and swap the finisher shirts you ordered. There were information stands from other marathons, some sports companies with stands and a little something to look at. Everything is in a big tent. Duration approx. 1 hour (pick up, shop, look). Optimization: a small luggage storage would be great for international guests, because the trade fair is between the airport and Venice and many had suitcases with them. St Mark's Campanile is an impressive 16th-century cathedral tower located in Piazza San Marco, Venice. It offers breathtaking views of the city and the surrounding area. Visitors can take an elevator to the top and enjoy panoramic vistas of Piazza San Marco, the Doges Palace, St. Mark's Basilica, and the Venetian Lagoon. The tower provides a convenient way to experience stunning aerial views without having to climb stairs.
It’s €15 per person, but it’s really WORTH IT!! You have an over view of the whole city and islands of Venice. You choose every half hour for the climb up time, but it’s not that strict. You can come up during sunset hours - personally I think it’s very beautiful. It’s elevator only so you don’t need to climb up the bell tower. Also, during sometime the bells will ring very loudly - be aware.
Erdun A — Google review
A visit here is €15, somehow steeper than visiting the actual basilica over the square, but I think it was worth it. You get a quick lift ride to the top of the tower and then obviously the views across the city. It was a bit rainy when we went but this didn’t ruin the experience. We did expect some kind of joined up ticket system for St. Mark’s Square; I think it would be good to be able to buy a linked ticket for the basilica, campanile and palace. Similar to the Doge’s Palace, the online ticket system was hard to navigate but it worked in the end.
Ollie F — Google review
You can now only purchase tickets for the bell tower online. There is a QR code to scan by the main entrance or visit their official website in advance. There is only one official ticket office for bell tower tickets and so you want the website with basilicasanmarco.skiperformance in the web address. I also highly recommend you do this in advance as it took us 45 minutes trying to do this there and then & the website kept crashing or took an age to buffer on account of the number of people trying to do the same thing in the same location. When we moved away from the area the website loaded more easily. They are the best views of Venice for sure and cost €15 per adult with cheaper prices for children.
Mark W — Google review
The ticket system can be a little overwhelming, but once you get them, you will wait some time in queue for the lift. We had tickets for 18:00 - 18:30, the sunset was at 18:08 and we entered queue around 17:57 and got up after 18:14, the sun was already set but still was beautiful. The views you get up There is like nothing else provided in Venezia. You can see almost all of it, if you are here i definitely recomend giving these views a go.
Jiri S — Google review
Definitely worth to visit the tower. Great view from the top for every side of Venice. The lift takes you up and then down again. Recommend to buy tickets in advance as it might be busy. Also entrance might be flooded during high tide so be prepared with shoes covers.
Elghato E — Google review
This allows you to have a look around Venice from above. You reach the top of the Campanile with an elevator and once on the top you can move around (literally) the balcony (closed with a metal net for security reasons. You are able to spot the points of interest all around and there’s a map in front of every “window” to help you understand what you’re looking at. The visit can really take 30 minutes if you’re not wishing to spend much time looking at the view. You will likely need to queue for the elevator both up and down, even if you have a timed ticket. Talking of which, it would be much better to buy that in advance to select the slot which suits you best. You can do so directly on the official website, where you have to create an account. You will receive digital tickets, no need to print. You don’t need a guide for this tour, as it is literally just a sightseeing.
Giovanni F — Google review
We decided to get stand alone tickets to see the view from Saint Marco's Campanile, the tallest structure in Venice. Ticket's for two people to visit the top is 35 USD, a bit pricy if you ask me for a 15 second elevator ride and maybe 5-10 minutes of views from above. Honestly, I cannot say it was truly worth it, the views are nice, but you cannot see any canals from the top. It was a bit crowded, and the times are not flexible.
Kevin B — Google review
3 stars seems harsh I know but let me explain why this stunning piece of Vencian history and architecture got a 3 from us. Firstly, enjoy for free from outside unless you are will to spend 50euro for 2. You are rushed around the venue like cattle. We tried to sit for a little while to enjoy the architecture and listen to it's history on YouTube but were asked to get up. You also can't enter the top, unless you have more than a basic ticket.A real shame -tourist trap 😕. If I was you I would save the money and spend it on a nice drink -watching the world go by.

Giudecca is an island in the Venetian Lagoon known for its charming homes, parks, churches, restaurants, and upscale hotels. It's often considered the unofficial seventh district of Venice. The area offers a relaxed and artsy atmosphere with stunning city views and beautiful churches. Giudecca is also one of the more affordable districts for accommodations and dining in Venice.
One of Venices quietest islands, while also being pretty built up. This is where the workers live and the Americans like to stay, probably due to the Hilton hotel. It has good accessibility via a number of stops to the main island.

Love this part of Venice. You can find things much cheaper here so I recommend staying on this island. There isn’t a lot to do as far as tourist stuff is concerned but you’ll have plenty of options in terms of food and shopping.

Away from the touristy Venice. Reach here by Vaporetto's (Venetian Water Bus). Best time to be here is during the dusk. Take a stroll along the walkway on the edge of the island, experiencing the sea breeze and sunset with different cloud colours. Restaurants & cafes are spread out throughout the walkway.

Home of Harry’s Dolci and Hotel Cipriani. Just a short boat journey away, you can quickly reach this island which feels a million miles away from Venice. It has a few small shops and bars and you can walk end to end in about 25 minutes. Perch yourself on a bench or at one of the cafes and bars and watch the super yachts and speedboats pass you by. Well worth a visit

Located in Venice, Arsenale is a must-visit stop on the mainland before heading to Lido. It offers stunning views of the city and serves as a vaporetto stop for boats #1 and 4.1, with connections to the airport via boat B (Alilaguna). Despite being busy, it's still a peaceful place to stay, perfect for morning walks before the rush hour.
Though the promenade is busy, but still a quite place to stay. Loved the morning walks before the rush hour.

Zattere is a charming area in Venice, known for its picturesque canal-side bars, cafes, and restaurants. It has been an important landing place for timber-carrying rafts for centuries. While it may not offer the best sunset views due to its positioning, it's still a great spot to enjoy gelato, coffee, or prosecco on a balmy summer evening.
My review concerns the Zattere promenade, not the waterbus station. Once a landing dock for timber carrying rafts ('zattere'), essential for building Venetian ships and structures, the quay is now a favorite local spot for strolling. Especially on sunny afternoons, locals promenade the nearly 2 km stretch, sharing laughs, exchanging news and gossip and enjoying gelato. You may feel more like an observer than a participant, but that's all part of the experience. Sunsets from the Zattere are spectacular! As sunset approaches, find the perfect spot by the water to enjoy an aperitivo, relaxed by the gentle flow of boats along the Giudecca Canal.

Teatro La Fenice, also known as "The Phoenix," is a renowned 1,000-seat theater in Italy that has faced destruction from three major fires since its opening in 1792. Despite these setbacks, the opera house has been meticulously restored and continues to host world-class opera, ballet, and classical music performances. The opulent interiors with gold detailing and plush red velvet chairs provide an old-world ambiance for visitors to enjoy classic Italian opera.
Elegant and historic theatre with breathtaking architecture and rich cultural heritage. The interior is lavishly decorated, and the acoustics are excellent, making performances truly memorable. Even if you can’t attend a show, a guided tour is highly recommended to appreciate its beauty and history.

A stunning theatre with a wonderful history. The “Phoenix” has risen a number of times, most recently after a fire in 1996. In the tour, there is a touching tribute to the late, great Maria Callas, who performed here in many roles over many years. The ball room and Apollo rooms are also very beautiful.

A breathtaking historic theater – worth the visit Teatro La Fenice is one of the most beautiful opera houses I’ve seen. The interior is grand and elegant, full of history and charm. Even if you’re not attending a performance, the guided tour gives a fascinating glimpse into Venice’s cultural past. The ticket price is a bit high for a short visit, but the experience and atmosphere make it worthwhile.
Khalil A — Google review
1. Atmosphere & Architecture The theatre is absolutely gorgeous — gilded, ornate, with that period elegance. Golden decorations, frescoes, chandeliers, woodwork, plush red or rose‑velvet seating, all contribute to an immersive experience. There’s a powerful sense of history: La Fenice has burned down and been restored multiple times (notably a major fire in 1996), yet each reconstruction has honored the original style. That gives the place layers of resilience, almost mythic quality, which heightens the emotional impact. 2. Acoustics & Performance The sound is often praised — many reviews say that the acoustics are excellent; the theatre skillfully balances the orchestra, the singers, and the ambiance so that even from the boxes the intimacy isn’t lost. When there is a live performance (opera, symphony, ballet), everything seems to fall into place: the space, the architecture, the music and performance combine in a way that seems to transport people — many say they get chills. 3. Cultural Significance & Emotion La Fenice has hosted many premieres by Verdi, Rossini, Donizetti, etc. It’s a place where musical history was made. That gives a visit or performance an extra layer of weight and meaning. The restoration after tragedies (fires), the passion to rebuild “com’era, dov’era” (“as it was, where it was”) adds a sense of phoenix‑like rebirth. It’s fitting symbolically. 4. Accessibility & Visitor Experience Audio guides get good marks. They help bring the history, the architecture, stories of past performances alive for visitors. The cost of a visit is often considered reasonable for what one gets (€15-€25 for Sanpaolo). Some family‑pricing options exist. #mostoere #mosinitiatief #bethelselfcatering #9barnardstreetgeorge

The Tintoretto Scuola Grande di San Rocco is an ornate 16th-century art museum in Venice, Italy. Originally a confraternity, it now showcases the works of the dramatic Renaissance artist Tintoretto. The building itself is emblematic of the city and houses valuable pieces such as 'St. Roch cures the plague-stricken' and famous works depicting the lives of Jesus and the Virgin Mary.
Interesting history. Most of the paintings were very dark in color. Be careful of your steps. Recommend using the provided mirrors upstairs to view the ceiling paintings.

Great museum for art and history lovers. The artwork is masterful and the museum peaceful. The floors are original and little to no restoration so far, therefore you need to watch your step because you can easily trip over especially the ground floor. There are 4 floors to visit, the 1st floor being the main attraction.

The Scuola Grande di San Rocco is a stunning showcase of Tintoretto’s brilliance. His vast cycle of paintings fills the halls with dramatic light, movement, and spiritual intensity. Walking through feels like stepping inside a Renaissance epic. It’s one of Venice’s most powerful and unforgettable artistic experiences.
Giulia B — Google review
This is a gem of a space. It may be diminutive in square footage but your response will not be to the epic scale of Tintoretto’s paintings. His brilliance spans the walls, ceiling, staircases offering gasp after gasp coupled with moments of reflection when considering it took over 20 years to complete this visually cohesive work of the Venetian Renaissance.

This museum is both incredibly impressive, quiet, contemplative but is also cool on a hot summer's day - this is October, mind but still very pleasant. Lido di Venezia is a long, narrow barrier island located to the east of Venice. It offers a different experience from the historic city, with regular streets lined with art deco buildings and cars instead of canals. Once a retreat for European aristocracy and Hollywood stars, Lido still retains its upscale feel. The island boasts the Venice Film Festival, sandy beaches, Art Nouveau hotels, and an aquarium that dates back to the early 20th century.

Lido di Venezia is Venice's "Golden Island," a long sandbar famous for its beaches and the Venice International Film Festival. It is a tranquil, green seaside resort featuring elegant architecture, offering a calm contrast to the maze of Venetian canals
Dorota W — Google review
In recent years Lido has become my favourite island in Venice. There is something magical and safe about mixing the two Venetian styles. Yes this is very much like Venice, but after a visit to San Marco or Guidecca this feels like it could be a million miles away. The island has beaches a plenty, good retail, and wonderful restaurants, the hotels are generally cheaper than the other islands which means you can either save and save big, or splurge and go for full on Luxury, we stayed at the 5 star luxury Excelsior for the same price as a three star stay in the Grand Canal. Life in Lido is chilled to the perfection, a wonderful feeling of bliss and serenity when compared to the hustle and bustle of the island people visit Venice for. If staying seriously c insider picking Video over other islands, it’s doubtful you’ll forget it.

If you are looking for a place to unwind, relax, and soak up some sun while indulging in some delicious cuisine and enjoying some fantastic films, then Lido di Venezia is the perfect destination for you. The beaches in Lido di Venezia are simply stunning, with crystal clear waters and pristine sands that stretch as far as the eye can see. Whether you prefer to spend your days lounging in the sun, swimming, or trying out various water sports, there is something for everyone here. And if you're in the mood for some relaxation, there are plenty of beachside bars and cafes where you can sip on a refreshing cocktail or enjoy a delicious meal while taking in the stunning views. The small restaurants in Lido di Venezia are also a highlight of the island. You can find a wide range of cuisine, from traditional Italian fare to international dishes. The seafood here is particularly delicious, as the island is surrounded by water and the freshest catch is always on offer. Whether you are looking for a casual lunch or a romantic dinner for two, the small restaurants here will not disappoint. Finally, the cinema festival is an annual event that takes place in Lido di Venezia and attracts movie lovers from all over the world. The festival showcases some of the best films from around the globe, and attendees can enjoy screenings, Q&A sessions with filmmakers, and even get a chance to meet some of their favorite actors and actresses. It's a great way to experience the culture and creativity of the island while enjoying some fantastic cinema. Overall, Lido di Venezia is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a relaxing beach getaway with great food and cultural experiences. With its stunning beaches, small restaurants, and cinema festival, there is something for everyone here, and you are sure to leave feeling rejuvenated and refreshed

We loved Lido island with great public transport on land and on water services
Eu C — Google review
I really like Lido Island. There are cars on the island. To take your car there you have to go by ferry. There is also public bus transportation which is included in the vaporeto boat fees that shuttle people between the islands. The public buses are a good way to see the whole island. There are a couple different bus routes. The island is quite long and narrow. There are nice modern residential areas on the island with beautiful large homes. The residential area is mainly along the length of the long island and the commercial town is in the wider part of the island by the vaporeto boat terminal. Many people that work in Venice live here on Lido. For people who work in Venice, Lido has a laid back vacation feel to it. There is a good film festival and other events every year at the Bienalle Di Venezia on Lido. In May 2020 there is an International Architecture exhibition with very outstanding architects attending. The Venice Carnival is coming up in Venice in February and it is world famous. The beach for the Venice area is on Lido. Some of the beach infrastructure got water in it during the high tides on Nov 2019 and repairs are being made for the summer beach season. The Island has a low key relaxed type attitude to it, different from the hustle and bustle around San Marco square and other parts in Venice Proper. Enjoy.

Punta della Dogana - Pinault Collection is a contemporary art museum housed in a former customs house at the convergence of Grand Canal and Giudecca Canal. The building itself is an architectural marvel, featuring the iconic sculptural work of two Atlases lifting a golden bronze sphere topped with Fortune indicating wind direction. Renovated by renowned architect Tadao Ando after years of neglect, it now serves as a venue for international contemporary artworks.
I wish to focus on the stunning 270 views this vantage point offers. The contemporary art collection curated by François Pinault might not be everyone's cup of tea. After passing the former 17th-century customs building (now the contemporary art museum) you’ll reach the end of Fondamenta Salute. From here, the entire San Marco basin unfolds before you. It's a quiet spot, despite the almost constant boat traffic. But that's always fun to observe. So, take a seat on the warm stone quay, let your legs dangle over the water, and enjoy the action. People will constantly come and go behind you, as this spot serves as a popular backdrop for selfies with St. Mark's Square and the Doge's Palace. I recommend visiting (also) at sunrise for the magical pink hues of the Doge’s Palace and again after dark to witness the incredible transformation of the city.

Fantastic art museum with the interior designed by the great Tadao Ando (born 1941). The current Thomas Schütte (born 1954) exhibition looks great in Ando's spaces. Following Schütte's retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, this is another great show of his work.
Nils P — Google review
A stunning example of how contemporary architecture can live within Venetian heritage. Tadao Ando’s renovation is subtle yet powerful — calm concrete surfaces, quiet light, and perfect proportions. When we visited, there was a Thomas Schütte exhibition, and the sculptures interacted beautifully with the building’s minimal geometry. Entry was €15 per person with a teacher discount, and absolutely worth it. Everything about the experience — the curation, the space, the silence — felt precise and deeply moving.

This is a particular flavor of art. In a city full of historical significance and art, the Pinault offers the ultra modern art experience. There were some pieces during this particular time that I didn't get. Others were very cool and wonderful. They don't pack pieces in all together with no room to breathe. It almost seemed that each art piece had its own entire room. And some are pieces were the room. There were some with audio, touch, and of course visual. Both my husband and I absolutely appreciate all art and this was no exception. It's definitely not our favorite kind, but there were some really cool pieces. This is very unique experience and a fantastic way to take a break from the pre-Renaissance and Renaissance art that fills Venice.

Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia is a 1930s train station that serves domestic journeys and routes across Europe, including the famous Orient Express. From this station, travelers can embark on various scenic adventures. For instance, one can take a westward train to Monterosso, the northernmost village of Cinque Terre on the Ligurian Sea.
Venezia Santa Lucia train station is the primary railway hub in Venice, Italy. Located on the northern edge of the city’s historic center, it serves as the main gateway for visitors arriving by train. The station is well-connected to major Italian cities like Milan, Rome, and Florence, as well as international destinations. The station itself is a modernist structure with a simple yet functional design. Inside, travelers will find a range of amenities, including ticket offices, self-service machines, restrooms, and luggage storage. There are also cafes, shops, and a waiting area. Despite its efficiency, it can become crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons. One of its most striking features is its direct access to the Grand Canal. Upon exiting, visitors are immediately greeted by breathtaking views of Venice’s waterways, with vaporetto (water bus) stops right outside, providing easy transportation to various parts of the city. While Santa Lucia is well-organized, travelers should be cautious of pickpockets and ensure they validate their tickets before boarding regional trains. Overall, it is an efficient and well-located transport hub that seamlessly connects Venice with the rest of Italy while offering a dramatic first impression of the city’s unique beauty.

Situated strategically on the banks of the Grand Canal in Venice itself, just 20 minutes' walk from the Rialto Bridge, Venice Santa Lucia (Venezia S. Lucia or just Venezia SL) is Venice's main station, built in the 1940s and 1950s. It required the demolition of the Church of Santa Lucia, which is where the station gets its name. Crossing the causeway over the lagoon and then walking out of the station to see the Grand Canal right in front of you with vaporettos (waterbuses), water taxis, and gondolas makes it arguably the most impressive arrival experience of any station in Europe. The station is well-connected to major Italian cities like Milan, Rome, and Florence, as well as international destinations. Between locals coming to work and visiting tourists, it was often very crowded where my partner, our friends, family members, and I boarded the Italo high-speed train last Monday to our next destination, Florence. The ticket windows are on ground level, along with the restrooms, tourist information, and some shops and restaurants. Seating was limited. All tracks were clearly marked. The scheduled departure board was very clear. All aboard!

The train station arriving to Venice is this big train station. Ticket counters and automatic machines are available for the purchase. Staff are accommodating and display boards are posted well. The high speed trains arriving here transfers most of the population. Please be aware of the pick picketers. The view of Venice as soon as you step outside station is amazing and the boat stops are nearby marked as ferrovial.

We used the train to get across the country from Livorno on the Ligurian Coast to Venice. We took Italo’s first class seats and they were really nice! They dropped us off here and then we had to figure out how to get to our hotel. There are lots of porters everywhere asking if you want them to handle your bags, as there are lots of steps over canals and most luggage can’t handle them. I just wish the signage here was better and things were better coordinated so you know what to do, especially on your first visit. We had to figure everything out on our own and it was tough going, but we made it. The station is also way over-crowded, not only with passengers, but so many vendors and others trying to make a buck, that needs to be better controlled as well.

A bit overwhelming after coming off the train...the Santa Lucia Station is one of the busier transit centers that we encounter. Making our way through the crowds while watching out for pickpockets, beggars and other trouble we get outside to find our ride. The ferries and water taxis make it easy to get to your hotel. Our last trip we stayed at the Hyatt Centric on Murano. Knowing that we'd be going back and forth to Venice I opted for the ferry pass to save a few bucks. Whichever way you chose...Santa Lucia station provides retail, food and transportation options when in or out of Venice.

Located near a bridge, it's an ideal spot to snap a photo with the iconic canals as your backdrop before indulging in their delicious treats. Amazing ice-cream and service! The lady that was helping us out was very kind. I went with malaga & pistachio flavors and they were just a perfect combination, both absolutely amazing! My friend who didn’t want ice-cream, after trying mine went back and got the same set. Highly recommend to try ice-cream here. Best I had in Venice 🍦🥇🙌🏻🇮🇹

Good gelato but I found the taste pretty average in comparison to other gelatos I had during my Italy trip. Portion sizes are also a bit smaller. Not disappointing though.

Delicious gelato with so many flavors offered. I got the Dubai Chocolate which was incredible and so creamy with phyllo flakes and pistachio creme swirled throughout. Prices were cheap - 2.50 for 1 scoop.

Not sure is this the outlet or not as they got a lot out outlet there. Order 2 scopes with con, con need to pay extra 1 euro, not bad, a lot people and need to Q for about 15 min.

The dark chocolate gelato is amazing! Not too sweet and you can taste the intense dark chocolate flavor (not just a regular chocolate with dark coloring).

I had an amazing experience at Gelato di Natura in Venice! The ice cream is absolutely delicious and clearly handmade with care. I especially loved the pistachio and the fig with walnut flavors – they were rich, creamy, and full of authentic taste. The shop itself is charming and very popular, so expect a bit of a line, but it's definitely worth the wait. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable, especially for such a touristy city. If you're in Venice and craving genuine, high-quality gelato, I highly recommend stopping by Gelato di Natura!

I have never left a review in my life - but this experience was so bad that I had to. My brother, sister, and myself walked into this shop to grab some gelato before heading back to Florence. After my sister placed her order, she was asked to pay. She placed her drink on the clear countertop so that she could get some money out of her purse and was scolded by the employee (man in his 40’s/50’s) for placing it on the countertop. She apologized, but not after him scoffing at her for it and saying “get that cup off my countertop.” I then (reluctantly) placed my order, despite my gut not wanting to give him any more business after this interaction. I had just finished my drink, and so I tossed the cup into the garbage beside the counter. The employee then stopped what he was doing, stared at me for about 5 seconds, scoffed, and said “are you kidding me, you did not recycle that?” I apologized immediately and offered to pull it out of the garbage can and place it in the recycling bin. However, I did not see one. I asked the employee where the recycling bin was and he stated he did not have one and that I need to go find one. After searching for a recycling bin for 10 minutes, I gave up. He shook his head again while handing me my order, and it took everything in me to not respond back to this rudeness. This is not how you treat a customer, and I certainly will never be returning to this establishment and urge everyone else to avoid it as well.

Parco San Giuliano, located in Mestre just a bridge away from Venice, is a massive 74-hectare green space offering stunning views of Venice and the Venetian Lagoon. It serves as a preservation area for flora and fauna while also providing various outdoor activities such as biking, skating, and football. This urban garden is the largest city park in Europe and offers well-manicured paths for leisurely strolls or impromptu picnics.
Parco San Giuliano …. One of the most beautiful parks in Venice...a large park. Close to the lake. There is a bar, seating areas, children's games, toilets, and parking. It is a suitable place for families or for practicing sports in the open air

I heard that this is the biggest park in Europe. It can be true, it's very very big and suitable for jogging, running and having a picnic with many people. There are parks as well. The reason why I gave 3 stars is that it was so empty. No enough trees, as you see in the pictures I uploaded, green flat areas are a lot but trees are not very much. There are football pitches and basketball areas too. I would recommend here for taking a walk and having fresh air.

Beautiful area with lots of green space, a park in the heart of Mestre and just across from Venice. The perfect place for complete rest and relaxation. Inside the park are great restaurants and bars that offer good food and drink. The green area offers a good view of Venice and the Venetian lagoon. Very open, with lots of trails for both runners and walkers and cyclists. Everything is great done. It is easy to walk or run 4-5 km around the park, the lagoon and its trails. Apart from being an area for environmental and landscape recovery, it is also one of the most important places to study the lagoon environment, it is also popular as a destination for sports and cultural activities for leisure. An ideal place to stay in nature with the family. Created thanks to the European contribution, San Giuliano Park is an ambitious project, one of the most significant urban conversion and land reclamation interventions in Italy due to its complexity and articulation, as well as its dimensional and territorial characteristics. San Giuliano Park is one of the richest areas of biodiversity in the Venetian lagoon environment, and is known for being an excellent area for bird watching to visit the lagoon, attracting the interest of many nature photographers and observers, especially ornithologists. The park is actually known to enthusiasts for its rich avifauna, as it is a nesting area for many species of birds.

Serra dei Giardini is a charming café located in Venice, offering a unique atmosphere different from other bars in the area. Situated in a beautiful garden, this picturesque spot also sells plants and features high roofs and glass windows, creating a serene setting for relaxation. Visitors can enjoy hot chocolate with cream and delicious sweets while admiring the green surroundings. The café's old greenhouse setting provides a calming ambiance, complemented by friendly staff and an extensive drink selection including loose tea.
I’ve recently came across this spectacular cafe in Venice. It sure has a very different vibe and atmosphere from all the other bars in Venice. It’s located in a small beautiful garden and they also sell plants. The plants, high roof, and the glass windows make it a very pretty place for relaxing and enjoying your day. We tried the hot chocolate with cream which I really liked, and the sweets (cupcake and small cornetto) tasted good too. The prices are about 1€ higher that other bars in Venice.

Visited this place on the 19th of June 2024. Decent prices, decent drinks. I've visited it twice on the same day, at lunchtime, trying to find some shade, and once later the afternoon while my spose was visiting the Giardini della Bienalle . The shade was not the best, I can't really say that umbrellas provide the best shade, but the drinks were awesome (had some americano coffees, a machiato, some sprits) . They also had a power outlet inside so i charged my device while sipping my drinks. Plus points for the venue, a former greenhouse dating back to 1890s. Minus points for not having AC and maybe the waiters were a bit slow but spoke English and that was great. I will add screenshots with their menu and peices as of June 2024 downloaded with their QR. My first time experience there was super ok. Perfetto, like the italians would say 😁

Nice architecture. Stuff don’t speak English. No reservations needed. Mini brioche 1€, torta salata with spinaci 5€. Small portions. Overrated place, with high prices. Photogenic architecture and garden if you’re into Instagram places. But if you want to have a nice breakfast and cappuccino better go somewhere else. Hygiene not on a good level, interior full of dust. Nice industrial look that could use some cleaning. Not recommended.

Staff took forever to take our orders. The bathroom is particularly dirty unfortunately and there should be more people taking care of the service table. Having only 1 waitress to take order AND pay the bills and only 1 waitress to clean the tables in a busy Sunday is not a good idea. The inside is really nice and the ambience is alright so the stars are all for that.

A picturesque place, I loved that special calming atmosphere as you are sitting in the old greenhouse surrounded by plants. The staff was nice. The café has a wide offer of drinks. Libraries
Nestled in the heart of Venice, the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana is a treasure trove for book lovers and history enthusiasts alike. This stunning public reference library, designed by the illustrious Renaissance architect Sansovino, boasts an impressive collection of ancient texts and illuminated manuscripts that span centuries. Established in 1537, its two main buildings—the Libreria Sansoviniana and the adjacent Zecca—face the picturesque Bacino di San Marco, creating a breathtaking backdrop against which to explore literary wonders.
I love visiting these older libraries, I really enjoy the vintage antique look they have, I really enjoy reading and books. Many of these older libraries house some of the world’s greatest classical works. This library is absolutely beautiful, it has a very large collection of manuscripts and materials, it’s very well preserved and displayed. I really enjoyed my time here and if you’re into this kinda thing. I would definitely recommend checking it out.
Pong L — Google review
The Marciana National Library, located in the center of Venice, Italy, is a historic institution known across the globe for its extensive collection of manuscripts, early printed books, and magnificent artwork. Its beginnings may be traced back to 1468, when Greek scholar and Cardinal Bessarion willingly donated his personal library to the Venetian Republic to protect it from the Ottoman Empire. Jacopo Sansovino, a prominent Renaissance architect, began work on the library's current structure in 1537. Completed in 1588, the edifice is a testimony to the architectural splendor of the time. The library's collection has increased dramatically throughout the ages, mainly to contributions from notable individuals, purchases, and the necessary deposit of a copy of every book written in Venice. Following the collapse of the Venetian Republic in 1811, the library was formally renamed the National Library. Sansovino created the façade, which has statues, columns, and exquisite brickwork. Inside, visitors are met by expansive corridors, quiet reading rooms, and art-filled galleries with stunning murals and exquisite ceilings. The Marciana National Library is more than just a book collection; it is a living witness to the transformative power of knowledge and a treasured cultural legacy.

Nice enough place. It was included in our Doges Palace entry. Probably wouldn't come otherwise but worth a quick visit it you've got entry included.

We were treated absolutely horrifically. On entering the building we were aggressively told to leave. We couldn't understand what was going on but with lots of people entering and us being the only ones being shouted at we assumed it was a 'cultural issue'. We are two elderly Caribbean women and an Indian man and women. We tried to explain the Pastors wife wanted to do research and so did my brother. They didn't want to listen at all. They called more employees to shout at us. In our shock, we were 'standing in the reception and not leaving'. I was left feeling emotional. The blatantly shocking behaviour of the staff and the acceptance of it by the public around us was so backwards. Nobody else in our presence was questioned about their motives to enter the library. As we were leave the snide face on the lady in a pink jumper made it look like she was ready to spit on us. Thoroughly abhorrent and uncivilised staff behaviour.
Rapinder K — Google review
One thing is that most of the building is related to the Museu de Correr apart from the section of the library that is in use today. About its history itself, the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana (Marciana Library) is a public library in Venice, Italy. It is one of the earliest surviving public libraries and repositories for manuscripts (about 13000) in Italy and holds one of the world's most significant collections of classical texts. The library's collection includes a copy of every book published in Venice before 1603. The library's reading room is decorated with portraits of famous scholars and writers, including Dante Alighieri, Petrarch, and Galileo Galilei. The library's bell tower is known as the Torre dell'Orologio, and it has a clock that chimes every hour. The library's courtyard is home to a statue of the Greek god Poseidon.

It is a great pleasure to stand on the Piazzetta and observe this beautiful building, the Biblioteca Marciana. Its history and significance is extremely interesting, and its interior is breathtaking. The interior is beautifully decorated, and richly decorated with frescoes and paintings by artists like Tintoretto and Domenico Molin, its ceiling, featuring Titian’s allegorical painting, Sapienza, is widely considered the room’s most important decorative element. National Library of St. Mark is a library and Renaissance building, one of the oldest public libraries in the country and one of the largest collections of classical texts in the world. The library was named after St. Mark, patron saint of Venice. The Marciana Library stands as a symbol of the city’s wealth and its long tradition of civic investment in intellectual and artistic pursuits. The building’s construction began in 1537 and was completed over the next 50 years. The library, designed by Jacopo Sansovino, he is completed 16 of the façade’s 21 arcaded bays before his death in 1570. Eighteen years later, Vincenzo Scamozzi finished the structure according to Sansovino’s plans. Books for the library began to be collected even before the building was built. The nucleus of the collection was a donation of valuable Byzantine and Renaissance Serenissimi manuscripts collected by the scientist, patron and collector, Cardinal Bessarion, who donated his collection on May 31, 1468. It contained about 750 codices in Latin and Greek, with 250 manuscripts and some printed books (incunabula), it was the first public library open to scholars and students in Venice. The holdings of the Marciana Library were significantly enriched in the 18th century when collections were collected in several monasteries, such as Sts. Giovanni e Paolo from Venice and St. Giovanni di Verdara of Padua, handed over to Marciana for further safekeeping. With the fall of the Venetian Republic in 1797, the Marciana holdings were enriched by the entry of a large number of manuscripts and books from religious institutions (churches and monasteries) that had been banned and disbanded during Napoleon's rule. In 1811, the library was moved to the more spacious premises of the Doge's Palace. In 1904, the collection was moved to the building of Sansovinova Zecca, a mint (built in 1537-1547). The library has since returned to its original space, but has also expanded to parts of the neighboring Procuratie Nuova. Today, Marciana has about a million printed books, and about 13,000 manuscripts, 2,883 incunabula, and 24,055 works printed between 1500 and 1600.

A beautiful library in San Marco; the ambiance, lighting and setup of the library is perfect for studying, researching and working. With tables of 6 people each and lamps provided for personal use, plug points can be found directly under the tables, allowing for a longer time spent in the library. However, please do note that upon entering the library for the first time, one must register at the front desk with a valid ID to receive a library access card, and place all valuables to take into the library in a plastic bag provided. Furthermore, all other belongings must be placed in a locker, which is opened by inserting a one euro coin into the lock. Please note that only water can be brought into the library. A well-recommended and beautiful study spot! :)

The Arsenale di Venezia is a historic complex of shipyards and workshops that played a crucial role in Venice's maritime power. Founded in 1104, it was the largest shipyard in the world for centuries, employing over 16,000 workers at its peak. Today, it hosts cultural events, exhibitions, and trade fairs. Located in the city's north-eastern outskirts, reaching the Arsenale involves a pleasant walk through the Castello district's alleyways.

The great icon of Venice, not a football club, but the great storehouse of the Venetian trading empire, and where fleets could be whipped up from scratch in a matter of weeks. The walls are of course extensive, however the front gate is iconic, and had been depicted many times in art. I especially love the Lion carvings. Possibly one of the most beautiful locations in Venice.

Amazing space, I came here for Biennale exhibition. I managed to see everything (including garden pavilions) in one day (10:00-18:00) but at the end I had to run from one pavilion to another without reading anything. 😔 Great exhibition and lots of interesting book in the bookshop.

Our visit centered around two parts of the larger complex: 1) the museum with several boats, some machinery, and a large chunk of a steam ship, and 2) the Enrico Dandolo submarine. We got in on the submarine tour as part of a combined ticket purchased at the naval museum (separate location about 200 meters south of the Arsenale). Well worth the overall price to see both. OK, so, the Arsenale. Quite special to be part of a tour within an active military compound. At the time of visit, there was not a large amount of activity, but definitely things going on. The ships/boats on display in the museum part were interesting, and the audio guide gave some good context and info about their history. Particularly the pieces of Marconi's research vessel are cool to see. Then the submarine tour: great! Incredibly tight space, with all sorts of old gizmos and tech from the cold war era. The guide was knowledgeable, and we also had the fortune to be joined by an ex submariner that had served on a similar vessel at a similar time, so that definitely heightened our experience. But I'm sure it would have been cool also without the old guy's comments.
Jonas G — Google review
The arsenale was the heart of the Venetian naval industry, where warships and merchant vessels were built, repaired, and outfitted. It was the largest industrial complex in Europe before the Industrial Revolution, employing thousands of specialized workers known as Arsenalotti. Its origins date back to around 1104, and it underwent more than eight major expansions between the 14th and 16th centuries. By the 15th century, it had the capacity to construct up to six warships per month—an extraordinary feat for its time. As the military and economic backbone of the Venetian Republic, the Arsenale was so vital that, by 1509, it was called the heart of the Venetian state. Today, parts of the North Arsenale are open to the public, while the South Arsenale serves as a major exhibition venue for the Venice Biennale. The site also includes the Museo Storico Navale (Naval History Museum).
Seokjin H — Google review
The Arsenale’s west wall is deliberately stark, a fortress of secrecy shielding the Republic’s naval power. The ‘Arsenalotti’ — blacksmiths, carpenters, shipwrights, rope and sail makers — lived in the surrounding streets, sustaining Venice’s maritime dominance. The 16th-century Porta Nuova proclaimed Venetian might, linking the city’s labouring present to its storied past. Along the Rio dell’Arsenale, materials once arrived for shipbuilding; later widened, it now hosts ceremonial vessels like the Bucintoro during festivals such as the Sposalizio del Mare. A walk here ties present-day Venice to centuries of naval ingenuity.

Titize is a show for everyone, all ages, even if you don't speak Italian. It's combination of acrobatic, magic, comedy, music, and opera... very entertaining... The music, sound, lightings, backdrops, laser, smokes, etc all together create a really good show played by really good actors.

The theater is a really great place to watch a show. Recommend watching Venice Dreams. It’s a combination of comedy, magic, opera, and acrobatics. It’s full of great jokes and it doesn’t have a single slow down in the entire show. You’re thrilled from start to finish.

We found the theater just by chance. Walking down Venice we saw that there were several places to see live music but we thought that the offering was not great (a combination of arias and the 4 seasons, which we love but we were looking for something different. Thus we decided to watch Titizé. We were nicely surprised because not only are the actors excellent acrobats but also they combined their athletic prowess (great work on the high cable) with music (even a countertenor), and funny touches (with the disappearing act of the box cutting a person in two). We loved it!

We stumbled upon the theatre and bought the tickets 5 minutes right before the Titizé - A Venetian Dream show started. It turned out to be a fantastic experience - a combination off acrobatics, dance, vocal performance and the Italian / Venetian humour. 50 euros per ticket but well worth price considering the stage design, light design, and absolutely professional performance from the cast. The theatre itself is beautiful and comfortable.

Sant'Erasmo, the largest island in the Venetian lagoon, is often referred to as the Garden of Venice due to its agricultural focus. The island offers scenic walks and is home to a historic 19th-century fort and a charming church. Visitors can also explore Orto di Venezia, a winery producing unique wines from international grape varieties such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon. Families with active children may appreciate the island's tranquil atmosphere.
A quiet, peaceful island. If you want peace and quiet, it's worth a visit on a weekday. The restaurant serves delicious food. Vegetable gardens, an old fort, well-kept paths, a beach suitable for swimming. You could spend a whole day here with a good book.

We stayed in the beautiful quiet S.Erasmo for a week and it was a great choice. You only hear the birds chirping. Very kind residents always willing to help. Very good energy of the island that relaxes you after the much tourism of Venice. In half an hour you are in Venice on a quiet journey with few passengers. It also has night itineraries. We had a lovely week in S.Erasmo and we recommend it to people who want to combine tranquility in nature and enjoy the day in the wonderful city of Venice.

Theaters
Teatro Malibran, also known as Teatro Carlo Goldoni, is a historic theater in Venice with strong ties to the city's Commedia dell'arte tradition. Originally named Teatro Vendramin, it is the oldest operating theater in Venice and hosts numerous theater performances, especially during Carnival. The venue showcases important works by high-level singers and underwent a reopening in 2002, becoming the second home of Teatro La Fenice.
As a dance lover for years, this is my first dance experience in Venice after a few visits. Tao Dance Theater won the silver lion prize and I have the occasion of spending two nights in this magnificent theater. Hidden in a small courtyard, this theater can host 900 spectators and the seats are very comfortable. The reception is welcoming as well but there's no bar inside the theater.
Hahparis — Google review
A lovely characteristic venue but we were disappointed to find out that the show we booked through La Fenice website was actually held at Teatro Malibran. Visiting La Fenice was the whole purpose of the booking.
Elle R — Google review
Beautiful theatre! However we were disappointed to when we realized we booked tickets for this theatre rather than Le Fenice. We weren't the only ones who showed up at the wrong one as there were maybe 20 people waiting at the wrong theatre at the time of the show. Once we arrived at this theatre, we realized we were on the top floor, and unfortunately we couldn't see more than half the stage from our seats. We changed seats at intermission and could see a bit more. Theatre workers seemed annoyed when we asked for help finding our seats. Not many bathrooms either. The show was amazing! But the experience was not.
Julia K — Google review
As an American traveling in Venice, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go to a show in a 400 year old theater. We attended a performance of Chopin. For the quality of the performance, the tickets were so reasonable ($25 Euro) for the top row of seats. Visibility was obstructed, but the sound quality was still impeccable. Seats are more comfortable than US shows. I also loved my walk to and from the theater, as Venice is beautiful to meander through in the evening.
Jesse Y — Google review
The concert was good. Excellent musicians. But the seating was sub par and the view obstructed at the higher levels. I could not see more than 2 stands of the string section and couldn’t see the conductor or the soloist from where I was sitting. Not acceptable. Very disappointing.
Philippe D — Google review
I expected the main theatre of Venice to be much more grand. It’s beautiful and well-worth a visit, but it is far more modest in comparison to similar buildings in Europe. I had a nice violin concert there and as the maestro was Italian, the audience welcomed him with enormously warm, family-like vibes. Decent tickets for just 30Euro! The overall feeling was that for Italians cultural events are not something rare and therefore enormously special, but an everyday need…like shopping or church😊
Darina B — Google review
As someone who has attended several concerts and operas at Teatro Malibran in Venice, I can confidently say that this is a must-visit venue for anyone seeking a truly unique and unforgettable cultural experience. The theater itself is an architectural gem, with ornate moldings and intricate details that transport you to a different era as soon as you step inside. But it's the performances themselves that truly make Teatro Malibran stand out. Whether you're a seasoned opera-goer or a newcomer to the world of classical music, you'll be enthralled by the caliber of talent on display here. The acoustics are superb, and the performers, whether soloists or ensembles, always give their all to deliver a truly exceptional show. One of the things that sets Teatro Malibran apart is the diversity of performances that take place here. From classical concerts featuring world-renowned orchestras to experimental operas that push the boundaries of what's possible on stage, there's always something new and exciting to experience. Some of the most memorable performances I've attended at Teatro Malibran include Verdi's "La Traviata" and Puccini's "Tosca," both of which were executed with precision and passion by the talented cast and crew. But even beyond the performances themselves, there's something magical about the atmosphere at Teatro Malibran. Whether you're sitting in one of the ornate box seats or in the balcony, you'll feel like you're part of something special, something that's been cherished by generations of art lovers. It's a place where you can lose yourself in the music and the drama, and emerge feeling enriched and inspired. In short, Teatro Malibran is a true treasure of Venice, and a testament to the enduring power of the performing arts. If you have the opportunity to attend a concert or opera here, I highly recommend it - you won't be disappointed

Burano is a vibrant fishing island known for its colorful houses, seafood restaurants, and lace museum. Unlike the popular Murano with its glass-making and tourist crowds, Burano offers a more tranquil experience with its charming multi-colored houses that exude dollhouse-like cuteness. The island's seclusion allows visitors to appreciate stunning views of the lagoon and beyond, including the Veneto coast, Dolomite mountains, and the silhouette of Venice.
Beautiful colourful little island. Was so amazing to see and fairytale like. Only thing is the queue for the boat off the island takes at least an hour wait. Must see if in Venice

Out visit to Burano was part of our boat tour. I was looking forward to the coloured houses and it did not disappoint. It was just breath taking, I loved how each home is painted in the colour chosen by the family living in it and no other house has the same colour but can have different shades. We also saw a lace demonstration which was interesting, the length of time it takes the woman to make these, so much patience and skill. We got to try some biscuits too at the bakery and ate pizza in one of the eateries. It was an amazing trip, would definitely recommend coming here if you're in Venice, you won't regret it.

Absolutely beautiful little island. I loved exploring the streets and seeing the colourful houses. If you are planning on going you need to remember a few things: 1: be respectful these colourful house are peoples homes 2: stick to your right when walking! You’re in Europe now. 3: line up for the ferry 30 minutes early at least to get a comfortable seat.

Nice colourful buildings, however most of them are quite old and shabby (not painted for a ling time). The picture is of the nice ones Underwear hanging outside is also quite weird 🤷‍♀️ Be careful when you get back to Venice - the line to a boat is incredibly long. You need to wait no less than 30 minutes + it’s not completely clear which boat you need to take - check the schedule board - it may differ from google. The ticket is 25 euro! (it’s a day ticket, but you can’t buy any other less)

Murano is a renowned island known for its exquisite glass art. Visitors can explore various studios, witness demonstrations, and purchase unique souvenirs. The island also features the Museo Glass Museum and other attractions such as Murano lighthouse and Navagero. While some may feel hesitant due to aggressive sales tactics in San Marco, it's possible to enjoy a perfect day in Murano without feeling pressured to make expensive purchases.
This was the first stop of our boat tour, it was such a lovely island. The glass demonstration was amazing, the craftsmanship of all the individual glass pieces, just wow! The shop inside has so many beautiful pieces. We didn't see much of the place as we had to get back onboard for the next part of the tour but what we saw was great.

I want to see the glass fabric but I didn't know that they were closing early around 17:30! Which was my fault, however I think it's not worth it. It's an overrated tourist attraction. Lido is much better by 10x in comparison. Don't Recommend it if you don't have so much time!!

An island close to City centre of Venice where you can spend some time to see the glass making process, etc. Also getting there will feel like an old city, less modern, etc so it has it’s own charm.

Excellent tour boat taken to Murano. We only had 45 minutes but it enough. The nearest bar we visited we ordered a Hugo spritz. It had too much syrup and didn't taste like it had an alcohol in. I don't think the server liked visitors as I didn't get a smile or greeting. Ah well... we didn't stay long. The view was amazing. We soon forgot the poor service Then off to the next island tour. Very pretty views. Definitely worth a visit
Julie — Google review
Overrated island to visit! It took me 1h53 minutes in the line to get into the boat that was going back to Venice! If you are there to buy something, you can find the same glassworks and craftsmanship in Venice! If you are there to get to know the glass craftsmanship better, the workshops with high-end designs don’t offer many visiting options, and the ones that do offer don’t show their high-end production process. Due to mass tourism, the island’s residents have difficulty getting on public transport boats to Venice. However, their livelihood is also dependent on tourism.

Performing arts theater
The Venice Biennale - Alle Tese Theatre is an essential part of the city's cultural scene, with a rich history dating back to 1895. It has been a significant venue for various art forms including architecture, art, music, dance and theatre. The theatre is known for hosting captivating performances during the Biennale events and has played a dominant role in shaping modern architectural tastes in Venice.
La Biennale di Venezia HISTORY 1895-2023 129 YEARS OF HISTORY La Biennale di Venezia has been for 130 years one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world. Established in 1895, La Biennale had an attendance of over 800,000 visitors at the Art Exhibition in 2022. The history of the La Biennale di Venezia dates back from 1895, when the first International Art Exhibition was organized. In the 1930s new festivals were born: Music, Cinema, and Theatre (the Venice Film Festival in 1932 was the first film festival in history). In 1980 the first International Architecture Exhibition took place, and in 1999 Dance made its debut at La Biennale. La Biennale di Venezia was established in 1895 and is today acknowledged as one of the most prestigious cultural institutions. La Biennale di Venezia stands at the forefront of research and promotion of new contemporary art trends and organizes events in all its specific Departments: Art (1895), Architecture (1980), Cinema (1932), Dance (1999), Music (1930), and Theatre (1934) – alongside research and training activities. The history of La Biennale di Venezia is documented in its Historical Archives located at Marghera Venice and in its Library at the Giardini’s Central Pavilion. The International Art and Architecture Exhibitions have had a new structure since 1998. In recent years, La Biennale promoted new Educational activities, training programmes (Biennale College), conferences and panels in its headquarters at Ca’ Giustinian. Since 1998 the Art Biennale and the Architecture Biennale are no longer simply exhibitions organized with the contribution of National Pavilions, but rest instead on three pillars: · The exhibitions by National Pavilions, each with its own curator and project · The International Exhibition by the Biennale curator, chosen specifically for this task · Collateral Events, approved by the Biennale curator This exhibition model has led to a pluralism of expressions: in order to accommodate them the exhibition spaces have grown for strategic needs, including an ambitious restoration of the Arsenale area which is still going on. The Art Biennale has been recognised as the world leader in contemporary art exhibitions and the countries participating have increased from 59 (in 1999) to 86 in 2017. The Architecture Biennale has also been recognised as the best in the world. The Venice International Film Festival at the Lido (the oldest in the world dating to 1932) has remained a prestigious event worldwide due to the quality of its selection and the recent refurbishing of its historic buildings and technological supplies. The relationship with the local community has been strengthened through educational activities and guided visits, with the participation of a growing number of schools from the Veneto region and beyond. This spreads the creativity on the new generation (3,000 teachers and 30,000 pupils involved in 2014). These activities have been supported by the Venice Chamber of Commerce. A cooperation with Universities and research institutes making special tours and stays at the exhibitions has also been established. In the three years from 2012-2014, 227 universities (79 Italian and 148 international) have joined the Biennale Sessions project. In all sections there have been more research and production opportunities addressed to the younger generation of artists, directly in contact with recognised teachers; this has become more systematic and continuous through the international project Biennale College, now running in the Dance, Theatre, Music, and Cinema sections.

This place is a really interesting example of how an abandoned building can be brought back to life. Inside, there’s a theater that’s been nicely rebuilt — the old architecture mixes well with modern design. We weren’t too impressed overall, though. It took us a long time to even find how to get in, and the spectacle itself was so bad that we left after 30 minutes. But the performance isn’t the fault of the place — the theater space itself is actually cool and creative.

When visiting Venice, it's essential to take in the city's labyrinth of streets and charming shops. While some shops offer typical tourist souvenirs, there are hidden gems waiting to be discovered. One iconic experience not to be missed is a gondola ride through Venice's picturesque waterways. The sleek black crafts piloted by singing gondoliers provide a romantic and unique way to soak in the city's atmosphere and architecture.
This was beyound imaginable! Gliding through Venice by Gondola: A Dreamy Experience As the gondola glided silently through the labyrinthine canals of Venice, I felt like I had stepped into a living postcard. The sun dappled the water, casting dancing shadows on the ancient buildings that lined the waterways. The only sound was the gentle lapping of the water and the rhythmic strokes of the gondolier's oar. Our gondolier, a wiry man with a lifetime of experience etched on his face, navigated the narrow canals with effortless grace. He pointed out hidden courtyards, grand palazzos, and centuries-old churches, each with a story to tell. The ride was not just a mode of transport, but an immersion into the heart of Venice. It was a chance to witness the city from a unique perspective, to appreciate its intricate beauty and timeless charm. While the cost of a gondola ride may seem steep, the experience is truly unforgettable. It's a luxury, but one that adds a touch of magic to your Venetian adventure.

The canals shimmer under the glow of lanterns, and the gentle sound of gondolas gliding through the water creates a fairy-tale atmosphere. The cobbled streets and ancient squares come alive at night, blending medieval charm with modern energy. From the beautifully lit Rialto Bridge to the glowing Piazza San Marco, every corner holds a story waiting to be discovered. For children, the idea of a floating city is fascinating, while for adults, every alleyway brings a sense of discovery and romance. Whether you're cruising through the canals or enjoying a traditional dinner by the water, Venice at night is an unforgettable experience. Discover the unique charm of Venice after dark! 🌙🚤✨

The Venice gondola tour is a very nice and relaxing boating experience. It’s one of the city’s most famous tourist attractions, and it’s easy to see why. The ride lasts around 25 minutes, just enough time to unwind and enjoy the peaceful glide through Venice’s beautiful canals. You get a unique view of the city—passing under charming bridges, alongside historic buildings, and through quiet waterways that feel like a step back in time. It’s a great way to slow down and take in the romantic atmosphere of Venice. Even though it’s a tourist favorite, it still feels special. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the beauty of the city from the water. A lovely experience you won’t want to miss!

We took the gondola tour ride with Viatour. They were on time! Our guide was good. The ride was short, instead of paying 90 Euros, we paid 40€ and shared it with another couple. At the end of the ride, we went to the Venice library for a virtual experience of Venice in the past which was cool!
Elham A — Google review
Gondola ride is unique to Venice n looks enchanting n mesmerising when it floats pass through you in the narrow water lanes of Venice. It’s enchanting to see a city completely thriving on canals n waterways. Though I found the pricing of 80 euros too high for 1 person gor a 30 min ride n the gondola driver is also not singing unlike shown in major movies to showcase romance. Though the city’s charm is best experienced on a gondola n nothing else.
Akanksha A — Google review
People ask me if a Gondola ride is worth it. I would say it depends. If you want the experience or if it has been a childhood dream of yours, like me, then of course it’s worth it. But if you are happy to just take pictures with it in the background and are satisfied with viewing the city on foot, then you can give it a miss as you can easily get the essence of Venice walking in the narrow streets. There is nothing new you will see on the Gondola ride. I did it just for the experience and for fulfilling a dream of mine. And although it was a very short ride (I paid for 30 minutes and only got about 20 minutes), I still enjoyed the experience. Let me point it out: It is not at all romantic as you may expect having seen it in movies or pictures. There are so many tourists around having Gondola rides so go only for the experience and not because you think it will be romantic. Despite all of these factors, I must admit I really enjoyed the ride and wouldn’t mind doing it again. It was a very unique feeling gliding through tiny little canals surrounded by old houses on both sides. The experience of looking at Venice from the water is pretty great
Moniruzzaman T — Google review
Riding the gondola is I think a must to do if you are a first timer in Venice, like myself. You see it in the movies and it will be a bucket list. It will be costly for sure. Daytime you will pay 80 euros for half an hour trip. It will start from grand canal then will enter the small canal passing through narrow passages and under small canal bridges. It will just go around and will come again in grand canal. It will be worth it, i tell you. If you want it to be more romantic, ride at night but it will be more expensive. Some rides has two crews, one navigating and the other might be serenading or playing music. Venice will not be complete if you do not ride the gondola.
Napoleon Z — Google review
Beware of this place, we were charged 100€ for a ride whereas it's publicised everywhere throughout Venice that the Gondola ride during day time is 80€. It was one guy who was charging more and conveyed the same in regional language to other Gandola riders as well. Their argument was that the 80€ is for a 20min ride which only included the grand canal. And for 100€ they would take us for a 30min ride through the narrow canals as well. We were in a hurry and had waited a bit so we paid the extra, but the expressive was spoilt because we knew that we were being cheated. I would recommend taking the ride from one of the narrow canals, that way I guess one could avoid this scam. I snapped the picture of the guy who started all this commotion, it's the bald guy sitting in the picture.

We visited the Biennale Architettura 2023. Overall, it was terribly bad. It felt more like a graveyard for architecture rather than an architecture exhibition. The Church of Saint Stephen in Venice is a stunning Gothic church known for its leaning tower, caused by the soft muddy soil beneath it. It is surrounded by two charming Italian piazzas and offers a unique architectural experience. While photography is prohibited, visitors can admire the ornate ceilings and soak in the serene atmosphere. The church's location in the Cartizze Hills adds to its allure, where the Bisol family produces exquisite Prosecco and Champagne-style wines.
Another one of Venice’s huge but quirky churches. An interesting set of designs and an almost uniquely Venetian gothic style. Carved wooden beams supported walled decorated with traditional altars and works of art, but also patterned brickwork and a unique ceiling design. This is a very large internal space that can be used to accommodate a great number of of worshippers and activities. Outside one can also see the famous leaning campanile.

The Church of Saint Stephen (Chiesa di Santo Stefano) in Venice is a significant Catholic place of worship and a remarkable example of religious architecture. This church is known for its distinctive architectural style, which blends Gothic and Renaissance elements, reflecting the transition in architectural tastes that occurred during its construction. It is located in the sestiere (district) of San Marco, but is somewhat tucked away from the main tourist paths, offering a more serene atmosphere compared to the more crowded sites. Santo Stefano was founded in the 13th century, but the structure that stands today underwent significant modifications in the 14th and 15th centuries. The church is renowned for its grandiose interior, which is adorned with artworks by prominent artists of the Venetian school. Its spacious, nave-centered plan allows for a spectacular play of light and shadow, enhancing the spiritual ambiance within. One of the most striking features of Santo Stefano is its leaning campanile (bell tower), which tilts noticeably, adding a unique character to the church's silhouette against Venice's skyline. This tilt is due to the soft, marshy ground on which Venice is built, which has also affected other structures in the city, including the famous Campanile of San Marco. The interior houses a rich collection of art, including works by Tintoretto and Paolo Veneziano. The church also contains the tombs of several notable figures, including the renowned Venetian doge, Francesco Morosini, and the composer Benedetto Marcello. Santo Stefano is not just a place of historical and architectural significance; it remains an active site of worship and a part of the local community's spiritual life. Its location amidst the narrow alleys and picturesque canals of Venice makes it a captivating discovery for those exploring the city's lesser-known treasures.

I recommend buying a Chorus Pass beforehand, as it includes the pass to Santo Stefano art museum in the sacristy. Beautiful church with wonderful architecture. Beautiful church, but the man working there is openly racist. There were plenty of women wearing open back shirts and short shorts, but the man kicked us out for having an open back dress. We were the only non-white people. I understand that there is a dress code, but this should be applied to all visitors regardless of skin color or ethnicity. It's truly an embarrassment to the church.

L'edificio è legato all'ultimo periodo terreno del compositore Wagner, al quale è ricordato con una stele nel retro del Casinò, accedendo dalla Strada Nova.

(Translated by Google) Home to the Venice Casino, it is one of the most beautiful buildings overlooking the Grand Canal. The fate of the casino is uncertain, also due to the competition from the numerous gaming halls beyond the border. The Wagnerian museum will certainly be open to visitors again, as here, on the mezzanine, he spent long periods away from the noise of the big cities in search of new inspiration. He died here in 1883.

Madonna del Monte is a significant symbol of religious devotion in Cavallino Treporti, with the annual feast of the Virgin drawing locals to sing hymns and participate in a procession from the cemetery chapel to the parish. The island itself is uninhabited and privately owned, featuring a ruined church and shallow waters that require caution when approaching by boat. It's an intriguing destination for visitors exploring the canals of Venice, near Burano.
