Enginuity is a hands-on science museum located in the former ironworks buildings, offering interactive exhibits designed for kids to learn about science and engineering. Great place for kids with lots of hands on exhibits. 3hrs is enough for a visit. There are toilets inside. There is no cafe here but within walking distance there is one at another attraction. If your kids have a blue peter badge it's free to enter.

Visited with kids ranging 3-7 in age. Lots of hands on experiences for everyone. My personal favourite was moving a steam locomotive by hand.
The only criticism - it was absolutely boiling inside on a failry cool October day, especially on the raised walkway. Which makes me think its the lighting that generates the heat. If anyone from the museum is reading this you should switch to LEDs and save a ton of energy costs.
Had way too much fun here. Definitely worth a visit if you get a pass plus for the locations covered in Iron Bridge.
Lots of hands on STEM things to get the kids thinking!
What a great day out. We used our pass plus and spent 3.5 happy hours here. So much to do, a place for picnics and it was amazing to see a sensory room for neurodivergent children. My favourite was trying on all the costumes and playing the video games in the visiting exhibition. We also did the toy workshop which was great
Really good experience for young inquisitive minds who enjoy interactive exhibits. My 5 year old son loved it. Only took us 1.5 hrs so the price is a bit steep (£12 me, £7 him). Ample parking. Toilets on site .
Not that large, but good fun - reminds me of 'Launchpad' at The Science Museum. Lots of interactive exhibits that kids will enjoy playing with - as always seems to be the way with these things, though, not everything works properly. The 'water cycle' exhibit was a firm favourite with #2 son, whereas the live topographic projection onto a sandpit was a winner with his older sibling. Definitely worth a visit.
I was here 20 years ago and always longed to come back. I was not disappointed. Ingenious models demonstrating mechanical advantage. I even pulled a steam locomotive a few feet! Many museums in the area and one can get a deal on multiple visits. Just go and take the kids!

This museum is amazing, this was the first time I have visited , the tiles are amazing such an incredible variety . There is even an interactive room where you can design a tile or do puzzles etc the children would love it as would adults . It wasn't very busy which is a shame as it really is a lovely place to visit .tucked away at the back of Ironbridge. Lovely staff brilliant place Ironbridge is just fascinating

Interesting museum if you like that sort of thing, I thought it was very enjoyable. The staff were friendly and welcoming, especially in the cafe.
Wonderful museum about tile making in the region, the owners and how they came to be in the area, how tiles are made, different tile styles, and more. There are examples of many tiles, including mini recreations of pubs, lounges, bathrooms and more to show how tiles were used. We spent about an hour but could’ve lingered a little longer.

One of many museums in the historic Ironbridge area. Extensive, colourful and varied selection of ceramic tiles. So much to absorb. Excellent cafe and friendly staff. All set in a beautiful location running parallel to the river Severn. Always plenty of craft activities for children, especially throughout holiday times. Plenty of parking and much more, all within walking distance of the museum.
A fabulous collection of beautiful tiles. The museum is calm and peaceful. The displays are an absolute joy and the whole place was both an education and a delightful experience.
The museum displays stunning tiles from the Victorian to Art Deco eras, including those that once adorned churches, railway stations, and public buildings.
It also features reconstructed workshops showing the artistry and craftsmanship behind these beautiful designs.
We didn't really know what to expect from a 'tile' museum, but was pleasantly surprised. Our little children (1 & 4) loved the children's activities (baskets of coloured blocks and tiles to build with and make pictures) and our teenager really enjoyed finding the matching tiles in the activity pack. The museum was clean and very well set out and the tiles were beautiful.
The cafe and shop were also very nice.
The tiles were stunning, I thinknI was expecting to be able to see a workshop of some sort.

The Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron is a part of the Old Furnaces complex and offers a glimpse into the early iron industry. Adjacent to it is Enginuity, a hands-on science museum for children, housed in former ironworks buildings. Visitors can also explore period-dressed houses once occupied by the Darby family and the nearby Quaker Burial Ground. The museum celebrates the area's industrial heritage, while the Museum of The Gorge provides further insights into its significance.
Very very nice place to visit, loads of interesting facts and it is right across the road from Enginuity, so you can visit both at the same time. It even has a scale model of the actual Iron Bridge that is very detailed, some fossils and all kids of information and facts about the start of the industrial revolution. There are also some old age war memorabilia such as an old musket and some old daggers, very nice visit and the kids also enjoyed it.

An interesting museum showing the history of iron in the area and how this small town became the centre of the industrial revolution.
There are two floors of exhibits and lots of information panels explaining how important Coalbrookdale was at the start of the Industrial Revolution.
A fabulous and very interesting museum. Love the iron work and history. The tour was free and in depth, however it was very slow so ideal for those taking their time or with mobility issues. The kitchen was not great but think it was just an oversight.
Fascinating and very well explained. Worth a half day visit - and the cafe serves good food too!
Very nice museum, lots of information about the area, technology and the people involved. Maybe even too much information, there is quite a bit to read. Maybe a few more interactive things would have been nice.
Don't forget to visit the old furnaces outside.

A fascinating backdrop to the Industrial revolution encompassing paid and free places to visit, the free furnace, the free art and gallery and paid exhibitions. All to be topped off at the excellent cafe restaurant.
Visited today 16 September . Lovely day to visit especially with a free tour outside. David our guide was very good at explaining all about the history of the place. Would recommend a visit here . The museums are very interesting . Lovely cafe too.

Felt sorry for the girl behind the information desk when an elderly gentleman asked for some information on something out of the area. She didn't know the answer, so she offered to google it for him, for which he said, "I could have done that myself", why didn't he?

It’s free & it could be interesting, to a degree. The fact that it gets flooded frequently probably presents challenges insofar as what to do with the place & the space going forwards. It seems under-utilised, rooms are half empty. Why fill them extensively if the next flood isn’t far off though?
Interesting use of the old building . With a collection of the Merrythought bears & soft toys. The late Sunday effluent release into the river was a spoiler to a great day
Lovely old building and quite a bit on the Merrythought Bear factory and local flooding, which was interesting, but not many actual exhibits...possibly due to the risk of flooding? Worth a look all the same.

Darby Houses is a part of the Ironbridge Gorge museums, offering visitors a glimpse into the 19th-century Quaker ironmasters' restored homes. Gives an interesting insight of the Rosehill House & Dale House and the history of the Darby Family and the Quakers who lived and worked in the area with original furnishings and items on display that tell how some of these individuals impacted the industry in Ironbridge.

Spent a couple of hours here. Very interesting. The dress up at the end was really fun. We used my pass plus so I don't know how much you would pay if you had to buy day tickets.
I visited this place and I liked. Everything in this house originally belongs to the family of Abraham Darby. You can at this house wear clothe Victorian times.
You get there under the railway bridge and up a slope on other side. Two houses to see as part of Ironbridge experience. Second house more refurbished than first. There are toilets nearby.
Lots to look at. The highlight was dressing up. And the lady who showed us around, told us lots of interesting information on the house and the family that used to own it.
Lovely to see two preserved pieces of history in these houses. Two excellent guides told us a lot about each house in turn.
Not a great deal to see in Dale House, but Rosehill House had some excellent displays.
You won't spend hours here, but well worth visiting.

A little gem, a lovely house that shows how the family would have lived. If you read all the information and look about, it will take about one hour to get round. The staff was very helpful. The house itself has no disable access as it has rooms upstairs and access is rather steep. Another house is in the process to be done up, so I am waiting for the grand opening.

The Iron Bridge Tollhouse is a significant landmark in Ironbridge, known as the first cast-iron bridge in the world. Built in 1779 over the River Severn, it symbolizes the beginning of the Industrial Revolution and attracts tourists from around the world. Although currently undergoing restoration by English Heritage, visitors can still explore the Tollhouse and walk across the bridge to enjoy its historical significance and picturesque views.
Informative exhibition on the background and history of the bridge, absolutely lovely, and free, although neat souvenir shop with some Ironbridge merch allowed us to shed some £ to show our appreciation for the enthusiast team of volunteers

A nice little museum, it only took 15 minutes to walk around and read all the information boards. It was worth visiting to find a little history out on the Ironbridge. There was a shop too. You can walk over Ironbridge and see the river and take in the lovely scenery. Then you have the shops, cafés, etc. Ironbridge is a great place to visit.
The Toll House sits opposite the the village at the end of the Ironbridge that spans the river Severn. The ironbridge was the world's 1st iron bridge built in 1779 and is a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE. Set in this beautiful village that has attracted visitors from around the world for many years. Today crossing the bridge is free. So you can marvel at this amazing structure from on top or the path below besides the river Severn. Loads of gift shops and a few cafes are available close to the bridge. We'll worth the visit and the only cost was the car parking. At this time of year its great as the village and bridge arnt packed with loads of visitors. Would definitely recommend for all the family.
Marvellous little free museum at the end of the famed Iron Bridge. Used to be the Toll House for the bridge and it has an interesting history. I liked the highlighted fact that ferry operators who had been put out of business by the bridge were exempt from the Tolls.
Anyway being a Toll House it is very small but it is full of interesting information boards about the bridge and surrounding area. It has a two floors and is well kept and immaculate. Lovely friendly helpful staff too, namely Laura and Mell (see I did remember). It has a small shop as well.

We popped in here yesterday (15/6/25) very interesting exhibition. The chap that was staffing the place chatted to us for ages, he was so interesting and informative about the bridge and the local area, he was brilliant. A man perfectly fitting his job.
Great little free museum on the history of the Ironbridge & of course, being the toll house for the bridge, it is conveniently situated right next to it!
Free small museum about the Ironbridge’s history set in the original tollhouse, which was in use from 1779-1950, and still displays the original tolls on the exterior. It’s across two small floors, and worth 15-20 minute stop to learn more about bridge’s history - including how it came to be built and restoration work over the years. Also a small shop for souvenirs.

Pleasently surprised. Nice little museum in a lovely village.
Roads are a bit tight to get there, but was enough parking at the site and in the surrounding roads.
The guide didn't turn up for our tour, but really it didn't matter, we could walk around and read the information boards.
It is well laid out, quite uneven paths and wooden stairs to go up and down, as you would expect in an old building.
Considering there isn't a huge amount you can learn about clay pipes, we were there just over an hour.
What a fascinating museum. Who would have thought this hidden gem was nestled between houses. I could picture the workers and the conditions they would have been working in. Thank you to Kate our tour guide, for a very informative tour.
It was fascinating tour about the history of pipes. I got so many information. Guides were so knowledgeable and friendly. At the end of tour was workshop for preparation of pipes by clays.
Not ideal for people with mobility issues as most of the exhibits are upstairs. An interesting look into how the works evolved and final shut finally to reopen as a museum, limited opening times so book your visit in advance.
What a brilliant place, you can feel the history here, it's so good that this place has been kept for future generations to realise how hard life was our ancestors.

Broseley pipe museum is one of those quirky places that are fun and interesting to visit buy the bulk ticket for all 10 museums near Ironbridge it lasts for a year at £26 per adult it's fantastic value enjoy your stay in Telford

An absolutely fascinating and charming space. Do not be put off by its size it packs a punch and tells brilliant stories in an accessible and amusing way.
If I haven’t had to leave, I don’t think I would have! So much to look at and lots of brilliant activities.

Feel like a criminal, photos on entry. money grabbing all the time as well as expensive entrance fees so unlikely to return. I've just returned from Australia where most museums and heritage venue were free entrance and public transport was cheap sometimes free so no parking charges either
Confusing about which site is which and what they do. I don't know if Google will attach this to the right pin! Visited the museum about iron, interesting, also Ingenuity nearby which is science for children. You need to get someone to explain all the ticket options and discounts (eg English heritage) . NB parking is extra at the various sites £1/hour.

The Bedlam Furnaces hold great historical significance as they were used to produce iron for the construction of the bridge and other structures in the town. Built between 1757 and 1759, these furnaces were among the first to use coke as fuel instead of charcoal. Although no longer operational, they are well-preserved and offer insight into their production process. The site provides a glimpse into the early stages of the industrial revolution and offers pleasant walks through nearby areas.

The ruins revealed much about how iron was made. The structure is massive and situated near the river, making it easy to see why this location was chosen for functional and efficiency purposes. I only wish more of it had been preserved and that there were additional displays to help children and adults learn more about its history.

Remains of an 18th century steel furnace. Well preserved, you can't get into the site fully as fenced but worth a quick photo stop if nearby. Free parking while you are there and information board detailing the history.
It's lovely to see our industrial heritage being preserved for future generations. It's free and there is free parking.

Unfortunately, I was on my way home, having finished a week away, so I ran out of time. Beautiful place with beautiful people what's more to say. Go visit. The Iron Bridge is seriously impressive, especially when you see it in person. It’s such an important landmark—the first of its kind—and you can really appreciate the engineering and history behind it. Walking across the bridge with the river below and the surrounding old industrial buildings gives you a real sense of stepping back in time. Plus, the nearby museums and trails make it a great spot to explore for a few hours. Definitely worth a visit!
I love the area, so scenic and classic English feeling to the town. On this occasion I was passing and stopped for a drink and a sausage roll. Visited many times before, lots to see do and enjoy. Great for families.

Ironbridge is an absolutely beautiful place with the world's first iron bridge. We planned to stay here for two days, but we're going to stay for another, because there is so much to see and do. We bought a ticket to all of the Ironbridge museums. It's well worth the money, and the various museums give a wonderful insight into the industrial heritage of the area. If you don't want to pay for the museums, there are enough free museums and lovely shops and walks along the river, in woodlands and in the valleys and gorges.
Fantastic landmark, well worth a visit. You can really feel the history of the place. The town is stunning as well, like something from a film. Incredible.
I remember having to learn about this bridge in GCSE Geography. So much more impressive to actually see it. I do like a good bridge, and this one was a masterpiece of technical wizardry. On top of this, the setting is very pretty. The town is a delight to work around, though pretty steep(!)

Park
For a leisurely stroll, cross the bridge through the town and take a left towards Dale End. There, you will find the Museum of the Gorge, an antique center, and a riverside park nearby. On the opposite side of the bridge's car park, you can follow the path of the old railway tracks along the Severn Valley Way. A circular walk is available from there along the river, leading up to a hillside loop back to your starting point.
A beautiful Park dating back to 1870; the park always has a serene atmosphere with beautiful views and well-maintained grounds.
The park offers a range of amenities, including playing fields, children’s park, a short walking trail and picnic areas.
There’s lots to visit within a few minutes walk such as the Art Gallery- Ironbridge Fine Arts and Teddy Bear Factory at Merrythought Village and yummy food at Embers at the Greenwood Centre.

Tucked just a short walk from the Iron Bridge, this park is a hidden gem for a peaceful family outing. It’s spacious, green, and beautifully laid out along the river. It's ideal for picnics, gentle strolls, or simply letting the kids burn off energy in a safe, open space. One of the highlights is the well-kept play area.
It’s a lovely place to gave a quiet walk on a Sunday with my lil old dog Izzy….. no huge hills, no rough terrain, easy for anyone young, old, wheelchair bound or walking with sticks…. Plenty of places to sit and have a picnic or a bench to sit and watch the world go by!

This charming gallery and printmaking studio boasts an impressive industrial brick and timber frame building with soaring 40-foot ceilings, creating an inspiring atmosphere. The talented team here, including professional artist Gary Walton, offers exceptional framing services that have delighted many customers. One satisfied client praised Sarah's expertise in crafting mounts that exceeded expectations after placing their first order of twelve mounts.
From the moment I walked into the shop the experience was amazing. The atmosphere inside is wonderful and calming with beautiful pictures displayed.
I had arranged to meet with Sarah to discuss the picture I wanted to be framed. It was a signed programme as a present. Sarah was fantastic, she listened to my thoughts and shared her expertise. For example explaining the importance of the glass to ensure the signatures remain in tact. She talked me through different options and styles, allowing me the time to consider these.
I explained the timeline that I wanted the picture for Christmas. I was called a few weeks before Christmas to tell me my picture was ready. When I returned to the shop to collect my picture the experience was again fantastic. Sarah took the time to show me the picture and talk me through what they had done. She ensured it was well wrapped and secure before I left the shop.
I gave the picture as a family Christmas present - everybody was absolutely blown away!

The best print makers and print making services out there! I’ve done a three hour print making workshop with Jenny in Ironbridge which was absolutely fantastic, a day workshop run by Jenny in Sidmouth on Photopolymer solar plate printing which was so informative and interesting- I was delighted with my prints. The icing on the cake is having my own Gunning No2 printing press- the ultimate printmakers printing press-it is a dream to use! Quality of printing is exceptional. Dave (Mason-Gunning) makes them and drove down to set it up and give me guidance. Amazing one to one service from everyone involved-and Ellie, super helpful with any enquiries. Could not recommend them enough! Oh and their bespoke intaglio ink is a dream to print with!

It was a such a positive experience to purchase this press from such a caring business. From the first telephone call to inquire about a press for my particular needs I was impressed with the friendly, knowledgeable and fast replies to all my queries.
I took part in a workshop and Jenny made sure that I was taught all the skills needed to print the images I would like to achieve. Jenny is an amazing artist and very kind and helpful. I ordered the etching press and all the necessary art materials for my particular printing process from them. I absolutely loved that it is possible to chose a color of choice for the frame of the press. Mine is pink, matching to my company logo.
The press was shipped with a courier service and was carefully packaged in a special crate together with all the other art materials. Building up the press was not complicated and when I had a query I got immediate assistance.
