Jobi is a local pub located in the heart of Leblon, Rio de Janeiro, offering a cozy interior and cold draft beer. The menu features appetizers influenced by Portuguese and Brazilian cuisine, such as bolinho de bacalhau and risole de camarao com catupiry. It's a popular spot for locals and visitors to enjoy caipirinhas after games or have a nice dinner.
A typical and traditional bar-restaurant in the area. At Jobi, you’ll find all kinds of people – locals, tourists, young and old – enjoying a casual bite and a cold beer. Great spot for a sandwich, finger food, and experiencing the lively atmosphere. Service is fast and friendly, making it an easy choice if you're in Leblon!

The picanha here is top quality, this place can actually give you meat medium rare! Extremely happy with the food! Pro: - food quality - menu - local and affordable - service (when you got it) Con: - they pack this place with seating, so you can be a breaths away from the guy sitting across and part of his conversation (but thay is brazil and not a Con for most people) - service (if they are busy expect to have to repeat for another drink over 4 times) That being said, I will go back in a heart beat, but once it's less busy!
Brian A — Google review
Atmosphere and ambiance is exceptionally good. So much good time there. The owner made sure we were satisfies with the meals we had.
Miggs — Google review
Came here as it was recommended to us for a place to go drink and listen to music. There wasn’t any music but possibly we came too early. The bar spills out onto the streets and lots of people around. Good drinks and service, prices are the same as most places around here. Didn’t eat but got a delicious pastel de nata

A fun and lively spot in the heart of trendy Leblon—perfect for an ice-cold beer and a classic filet mignon sandwich on a laid-back Friday night.
Camila G — Google review
What and amazing spot!! Honestly, it’s a must on your bucket list of restaurants to go when you are in rio. The sandwiches are amazing as well as the other appetizers. It’s very well located - the atmosphere is good if you just want to have a quick bite.
Gonçalo E — Google review
Really cool atmosphere for a Friday night. Was a good level of busy and good fun with music on in the street too. Service was great but food was average. All the bar snacks were deep fried and weren’t amazing.

Felt very authentic. Your neighbourhood restaurant filled with locals. Gets crowded and noisy, but that's exactly how it's supposed to be. We enjoyed all the food we ordered.

Brazilian restaurant
Bar e Restaurante Urca is a classic establishment located in the tranquil neighborhood of Urca, offering stunning views of the bay and Sugarloaf Mountain. The restaurant serves traditional Brazilian dishes such as seafood with farofa and Caipirinha cocktails. Downstairs, there's a tiny bar where locals enjoy beers and empadas before heading across the street to admire the boats in the nearby yacht club.
What an amazing experience that I had at Restaurante Urca. This restaurant is very popular in Rio. It is located in the charming Urca neighborhood, right on Rua Cândido Gaffrée. The setting is unbeatable; whether you’re sitting inside with large windows or out along the water’s edge, you get sweeping views of the bay, Sugarloaf Mountain. I prefer sitting outside along the water’sedge - the waterfront views are stunning, particularly during the sunset, an authentic experience. The foods are fresh and delicious - the menu celebrates Brazilian and Portuguese influences. The portions are generous, flavors authentic, and ingredients feel fresh. The seafood especially shines. The service was friendly, attentive, and accommodating, even when the place was crowded. The atmosphere is relaxed and perfect for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner. This place has my highest recommendation - from the moment you arrive, the combination of warm service, fresh food, and spectacular views of Guanabara Bay make it a must-visit. Suggestions: 1- Because it’s popular, arrive early to avoid long waits and crowds, or reserve ahead if you want a nice table. 2- Try the takeaway option and sit on the harbor wall for breathtaking views.
Raed A — Google review
There is a dine in restaurant and a take out counter. We ordered from the takeout counter and went across the street to eat. There really were no tables or chairs, instead people used the sea wall as both. The take out counter has the usual fried pastries, but you can also order more entree type dishes. We tried something that was like a thick shrimp chowder served with rice and a fish Milanese, which was fried fish pieces with rice and a cole slaw like salad. I would say the food tasted fine, nothing to rave about necessarily. I think people go to socialize with friends, grab a drink and casual bite with the bay/water as the backdrop.
Angela T — Google review
Very nice lunch place with beautiful view towards beaches and the boats on the water. Food was delicious. We liked everything we ordered. Service was friendly, good and quick. We'll go back here.

I try to go to this restaurant every time I visit Rio. Urca is one of my favorite neighborhoods and this a cool restaurant with great views and more chill vibes. The food and service were amazing.

Could be less bright in there. Food is good. Needs a sauce , a little dry. Had better versions of both dishes. Octopus is delicious but needs a sauce Solid choice 👌 but overpriced for the quality IMO

We came here not knowing it is a landmark for food. We enjoyed their pies, pasteis, and lunch options at the restaurant. The waiters were very friendly and attentive. It is an unassuming place, comfortable and relaxing. A full wall features dedications written by famous people. Metallica's been here.

Bar do Mineiro is a renowned local bar located in the vibrant neighborhood of Santa Teresa in Rio de Janeiro. It has been serving up traditional Brazilian dishes and drinks since the 1980s, making it a beloved institution for both locals and tourists. The menu features hearty plates of meaty dishes, including the famous feijoada, as well as delicious pasteis filled with cheese, meat, beans or shrimp.
Bar do Mineiro is the perfect stop in Santa Teresa! Everything we order was amazing! We had the Feijoada (delicious!), the porção mista de pastéis, Queijo coalho a milanesa, Frango a passarinha, Feijoada Caldo and Vaca atolada Caldo. Would eat everything again now ;) The service was great, food came out fast and I love the Santa Teresa vibes. We walked from here to Parque das ruínas and to escadaria Selaron. I would recommend ubering as it can be hard finding parking in the area.
Carolina K — Google review
Very nice, chilled restaurant if you want something traditional and tasty for lunch. Enjoyed the pork chops with rice and fajolada, which was great. They only had one type of croquettes with beans inside a very little meat, which tasted okay but were not amazing. Would still recommend paying a visit here!
Nico A — Google review
Do you know when can you eat bones? When it has been cooked in the stew for so long that its calcium breaks down and flavour comes out. This is how I know I have had one of the best stews in my life, not just the best Feijoada. The stew does not cheat - plenty of meat, sausage and beans cooked just to the right texture. The sides were perfect complements to the stew, especially the orange slices with the sauce - yes I ate it that way and saucéed the plate with it. The staff is friendly, attentive and under the classical music backdrop I was losing my mind as I had my meal. Nothing touches the soul of a sick traveller better than such a stew on a rainy day.
Kate N — Google review
We ordered the Yuca, the fried chicken and the feijoada. It was a lot of food but def very expensive. The feijoada has a very strong pork taste for those that are foreign. The fried chicken was tasty.
Andrea C — Google review
Considered the best feijoada in rio. It was good. Pro: - ambience - decent food Con: - packed - expensive It was worth going
Brian A — Google review
Amazing atmosphere & food. Sandwiches are delicious. You can’t leave Rio without visiting Bar do Mineiro!
Carolina G — Google review
Bar do Mineiro became our local when we were staying in Santa Teresa. The atmosphere is great, there are three levels for seating, the food is first-rate and reasonable, and their house beers and cachaca are outstanding. They are patient and understanding with those of us who have limited or non-existent Portuguese. We recommend the place to anyone.

Nosso is a vibrant and modern restaurant and bar located in Rio de Janeiro, known for its award-winning rum cocktails and delectable seafood dishes. The space is colorful and stylish, making it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The bar is led by Daniel Estevan, who won the Campari Bartender Competition, and he crafts unique cocktails with creative ingredients like bacon-infused bourbon and Thai fish sauce.
I booked this restaurant after seeing it was on the Michelin guide. We had a fabulous meal. Really enjoyed the ceviche especially! The portions were generous - we ordered 3 small plates and we were too full up for mains! very friendly service from Amanda and Santiago. Definitely recommend if you’re in Rio!
Rish S — Google review
Food is decent. Beef Wellington isn’t good. Burrata was the best dish we had. Beef tartar is tasteless. The severs are very nice and try hard so respect to them. Ceviche is ok. Pork bao was edible. Nothing great here. If you live in Rio maybe check this place out once. If you’re here on vacation it can be skipped. I think the issue with this place is they don’t have a speciality and the menu is all over the place.
Gabe K — Google review
The food was perfect! Exactly what you would expect from a Michelin recommendation. Also, our waitress Amanda was a gem! She recommended excellent cocktails and food!
Samir G — Google review
We had an amazing meal at NOSSO. Starters were fantastic. My main was the Korean lasagne which was outstanding. The others got beef wellington and expressed that it could have had slightly more flavour. Nevertheless was our favourite restaurant in Rio!
Leah G — Google review
Such a gem of a space. Great food. Great drinks. The service was friendly and above and beyond even with our broken Português. Super chic! Can not wait to return for that lasagna and the ceviche!

This is a nice little spot with three levels and friendly staff. I loved the rooftop area overlooking the park and the street. The food was ok and the drinks were good. Oue server Latoya was friendly and very attentive.

Pavão Azul Bar is a long-standing establishment in the Copacabana neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, known for its casual and unpretentious atmosphere. For over 50 years, it has been serving up award-winning bar snacks and ice-cold beers to locals and visitors alike. The menu includes a variety of savory pastries, meals, and burgers, with the must-try being the acclaimed cod fritters.
The Blue Peacock is a traditional Brazilian Bar and restaurant. It has two outlets basically opposite to each other. This one is the number one. The service is superfriendly and quick. We came here for lunch and had the shrimps in catupiry as well as the beef with onions. It is important to know that each dish is actually for 2 persons. So, the food was plentyful, freshly prepared and absolutely good. Highly recommended! Enjoy!
Philipp S — Google review
Corner restaurant with outdoor seating. It's not the place to go if you need to get away from the heat, but most seats are shaded. They offer freshly fried cod balls. Quite tasty! We also tried the 2 pastries, shrimp and cheese with sun dried tomatoes. The shrimp was the better of the two. The caipirinha tasted like a margarita.
Angela T — Google review
Pretty cool place. The food tour guide let us sample a few foods and then brought out this alcohol based milk drink. It kind of reminded of coquito without the cinnamon. The business also sits on 3 corners of the local intersection.

A great place to eat traditional Brazilian cuisine in Copacabana (not a tourists trap) a lot of locals here, small but with super high quality food. The Pataniscas are a MUST
Juan M — Google review
Delicious snack food, very popular with locals. Salt Cod Croquettes (PATANISCA) & small portion of Feijoada were delicious. Good value for money only let down tried sneaking a 10% service charge on our bill!
SEB W — Google review
Good local bar with local food, frequented by locals. Pro: - good menu - good food - cold beer Con: - busy - expensive - long wait times to get seated Would return when not busy, not worth the wait.
Brian A — Google review
This was recommended to me by one of the locals. Specifically the fish was highly praised, but I went with something cheaper. Most of the staff didn't speak English but I was able to show and pick some of the items for tasting. Overall it was quite good. I went with Caldinho de Feijāo and Pastéis camarāo both were excellent. Though Caldinho de Feijāo comes with oil and it can get very spicy, so beware
DMINATOR — Google review
Lovely traditional food in a place full of locals. Service is reasonably fast considering how busy it is but no one really speaks English nor there is a menu in English so just be prepared to order based on Google images/ translate if you don’t understand the names 😊 We had two drinks and few dishes and paid less than R$ 100 so definitely value for money.

Bar Bracarense, located in the Leblon neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, is a beloved establishment with over 60 years of history. It competes with Jobi for the title of the most traditional bar in Leblon and has been recognized as a city landmark by the local government. The bar offers an authentic bohemian atmosphere and is known for its classic Brazilian pub food and local dishes.
Quintessential Rio spot. Some reviews criticize things like the sometimes brash service but this is what makes this place special. They focus on speedy, efficient service inside in/around the bar, not being overly chatty and friendly. That works for me! Their sandwiches are consistently tasty. Carne asada sandwich and filet com queijo (cheese) are my favorites. And they’re just the right size for a filling snack while you partake in the true gem of this place….. their chopp brama draft beers. Cold and perfectly poured carioca style. Sit at the bar for best experience unless you have big group then sit outside at table.
James W — Google review
Busy spot, rude service and mediocre sandwiches. Kinda pricey too.

Quartinho Bar is a laid-back spot in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro, known for its mismatched furniture and casual atmosphere. The walls are adorned with posters and old Brazilian movie records, adding to the quirky charm of the place. The menu features tasty pub meals like Korean Fried Chicken and marinated tuna with a special house sauce, perfect for sharing.
I was recommended to this place by a staff at the hostel. She said this is where the locals hang out. I absolutely adore the ambience, and the casual seating on the sidewalk created a super relaxed atmosphere. In my opinion, the matte cocktail and octopus are must try. Every item on the menu is exceptional - you really can't go wrong with anything here.
Angel H — Google review
I’ve always been curious to check out this place. On weekends, it’s always crowded. One fine day, we had the chance to visit it, and we don’t regret it. The drink menu has many options, and the snacks are wonderful. The highlight was the pork chop croquette, which was delicious! We would go back just to have it again!
L. M — Google review
In Rio? Like bars? RUN to Quartinho! The service is super friendly (and welcoming to tourists), the cocktails are varied and masterfully made, and the bar food is seriously delicious. Great music, too. I had a top experience on my first visit in 2021, and an even better one this time in ’25. It’s rare to find a bar that hits a home run on all fronts, so definitely check it out next time you can.

Highly unique cocktails with lots of personality. Attentive bartenders who are happy to help you find your ideal drink. Would highly recommend even though it’s slightly far away from the usual touristic hotspots of Copacabana and Ipanema

Liz Cocktail & Co is a small and trendy bar located on the famous street in Leblon, recommended by chef Nathalie Passos. It's known for its casual setting and extensive cocktail menu, which includes both classic drinks and Hollywood movie-inspired creations. The award-winning bartender Tai Barbin has curated an unconventional cocktail list that combines influences from around the world with signature creations. Despite its small size, the bar offers a charming ambiance and superb staff service.
Probably the best cocktail bar i have seen in Rio. The service was quick and flawless. Technically the cocktails were excellent, some milk punches not on the list, just ask the bartender. They do any classic you want even if not on the list. Lots of home made ingredients like Falernum, Orgeat, syrups. Defenetely worth coming here!
El T — Google review
Fabulous cocktails in a speakeasy-ish vibe here in Rio. Every ingredient is locally sourced and the menu tells a beautiful story. We ordered their acai, cupuacu based drinks and enjoyed it thoroughly. The drinks dint just look pretty they were delicious. They also mail postcards to whoever you want to which was cool. A must visit when in Rio to taste their interesting take on cocktails.
Jane M — Google review
Simply outstanding! We have tried cocktails all over the globe and these are some of the best. A well considered concept, balanced and delicious cocktails. They use many local, indigenous ingredients that are unique to Brazil. So you will literally never try this anywhere else. Our server, Andre, explained the flavour profiles of the signature cocktails and completely nailed it every time. He was excellent, explaining what was so special or unique about each option. We went back almost every night during our stay and tried most of the signatures cocktails. Don't miss this. We will dream about these cocktails when we leave. Thank you.

Liz Cocktail & Co is one of the best cocktail bars I have been to in my life- and that is rare praise. The intimate venue allows for a personal experience- Rayana and the other bartenders were so welcoming! The illustrated menu and captivating narrative that accompany each drink brings story to each cocktail on a level I have never experienced before. With fresh local ingredients and creative flavor profiles, we ordered five drinks each so we could sample the range of the cocktails. For me, the Cupuacu is one of my favorite cocktails of all time. We loved the menu and illustrations so much- we bought a menu and shirt as souvenirs! We visited on our last night in Rio, but whenever we make it back to Brazil, we will be back! Thanks again for such a memorable experience!

The concept of this cozy cocktail bar is unique and inviting. The storyline is engaging and adds depth to enjoying a drink or two. It’s a small place with indoor and outdoor seating. We tried two signature cocktails with the bruschetta, everything was great.

One of the best cocktail bars in Rio & the owner is so cute and helpful, knowing the best drinks. Also one thing I loved was the postcard idea. At the end you can write one postcard for free and they will send it away 😍😍😍 definitely coming back!!

Rio Scenarium is a multilevel bar in Rio de Janeiro's historical downtown district of Lapa, known for its eclectic vintage decor and lively atmosphere. The venue doubles as a storage space for antiques and film props, creating a unique backdrop for live samba music, dancing, and dining. Visitors can enjoy skilled samba performances while indulging in pub fare and cocktails or sit-down meals at the on-site restaurant.
Rio Scenarium is incredible. The did is good, the drinks are great and the atmosphere is amazing. I enjoyed the causative of live music and crowd interaction. I can and will be returning soon. The people were friendly. The prices were very reasonable given the entertainment received. Rio Scenarium is so much fun. It truly represents the best of Rio de Janeiro night life and culture. The culture really showed as the crowds sang along with the artists that were performing. I highly recommend Rio Scenarium to anyone looking to have a great time in a great environment.

Fantastic venue for watching live music. The venue is spot over several floors so there is plenty of seating, however the dance floor is at ground level so arrive early to get a table in view of it! Good selection of drinks with quick table service. The live bands we watched were great and had a packed dance floor. The venue felt very safe with IDs being checked on arrival. Would highly recommend a visit.

Absolutely loved the atmosphere here! You see all ages from kids to elderly people. It's so wholesome to see elderly couples dancing on the dance floor to the live band. We had food and dessert here which was delicious. Salad, steak, chocolate cake and a lemon caipirinha. Do also explore the upstairs of the bar. Waiters and staff here were friendly and fast in taking orders, clearing tables and serving food.

We didn't eat but the food looked okay. The atmosphere, WOW. I’ve traveled to many places but this night is up there with my top 10 memories of travelling. The music was incredible, the atmosphere was so magical. If you love samba and dancing this is a must. Cocktails were great and not to badly priced we found. Our waiter was very attentive and are table couldn’t have been in a better position to watch everything. We were concerned about safety but we got a uber there, 2 mins walk down the street and your there. We had no issues and felt safe (I was even videoing in the street) something I didn’t think i’d be doing.

Rio Scenarium is a vibrant, must-see spot in Rio! The decor is stunning, like stepping into a vintage museum, and the live music and dancing create an unforgettable atmosphere. Drinks are great and the food is solid, though a bit pricey. It can get crowded, especially on weekends, so arriving early helps. Overall, it’s a fantastic place to soak up the city’s nightlife and enjoy authentic Brazilian vibes. A unique experience worth checking out!

Very nice place to visit in Rio. Going through a metal detector at the entrance adds to the safeness of this place. Take the elevator to second and third floor to get other experiences than the first floor offers. The food is good and very affordable - the drinks as well. Although the caipirinha’s is not the best we have had in the city.

The food options are colorful and inventive, ranging from traditional Brazilian pasteis to Middle Eastern mezze.
The food here was sooo good. So much better than I anticipated as I really only went for the drinks and ambience (which were also great). I’m a bit of a food snob too but the food was fresh and packed with flavour. I will be going back for sure!

Cool place to check out on your trip to Santa Teresa. This place has amazing cocktails, including many well known drinks. It's also expensive for the area, costing about $10 USD per drink. Still better than the US, but more than other places in Rio. The food has potential. It's good, the only problem is that 4/4 items we ordered over 3 different visits were all cool or cold. The nachos could be so good but they are just not the same when the cheese has solidified and the chips are cold. Same with the burger, which looks like their cheddar is a slice of square American cheese. The pastels were pretty good though. And the hummus.
Rhett J — Google review
Explorer Bar Santa Teresa offers an exceptional nightlife experience in the heart of Santa Teresa. From the moment you walk in, the welcoming atmosphere and unique décor set the perfect mood. The cocktails are truly standout, especially the TLB and Passion Sour, which are expertly crafted and bursting with flavour. Definitely worth trying. The meal options are just as impressive; the ancho steak and chicken pad Thai both deserve a solid 10/10 for taste and presentation. The environment is cozy yet vibrant, an ideal spot to enjoy with friends or a date, securing an overall 10/10 rating for ambiance. What truly elevates the experience is Cristian, whose incredible service and hosting skills make every guest feel special and well taken care of. His warm hospitality adds a personal touch that keeps visitors coming back. If you’re looking for a top-tier cocktail bar with extraordinary drinks, delicious food, and outstanding service in Santa Teresa, Explorer Bar is the place to be.

Impeccable service and very lovely environment! Main dishes could be improved but the appetisers are perfect (we tried croquettes and fish salad). The only thing that disappointed us is the homemade soda 😂 not very recommended. But given the price, it’s still overall well worthy.

Visited this place twice on our five night stay in Rio. If you’re looking for cocktails then you need to visit here, they are so tasty! My favourite one is the Jambu Treme (highly recommend!!!). The staff are lovely, welcoming, friendly, and helpful - thank you Marco! The food is delicious too, definitely worth the visit.

We were really excited and looking forward to trying out this spot and enjoying it. It has a great atmosphere and great music but unfortunately the food took about 40mons minutes and that ruined our experience. I hope they do better going forward because the place has a lot of potential. Unfortunately I doubt we will be going back.

Adega Pérola is a classic Iberian-style pub located in the heart of Copacabana. It offers a variety of Spanish tapas, Portuguese appetizers, cachaça, beers, and wines. The bar is known for its Portuguese-influenced croquettes, sardines, octopus, lamb sausages, juicy olives and other traditional delicacies.
Dropped in during a guided food tour. This history of the place is interesting and the hard work to keep it open over time is commendable. I really liked the squid and fish I had. Would definitely return.

We really enjoyed our dinner here! Maybe even 5 star. Big selection of food. LOVED the simple but delicious black bean soup with pork belly, cheap and filling and tastes great! Also the cold octopus with vinegar and seasoning. And the sardine. The shrimp rice for one person was good and actually enough for two people. Our server was super nice, smiling, patient, and helpful. They have nice drinks here too. Outdoor seating looked fine, but we stayed inside which is comfortable and many seats. Glad we came here and will come back for sure.

Came just before noon when it was moderately empty and left an hour later when a queue was starting to form outside The service is friendly and helpful and they have a long menu but I picked from the display case. I don’t speak Portuguese but the server was very patient and nice! Got fried fish eggs and salmon, which were great! I also got the oysters but they weren’t very good - tasted extremely salty and fishy. Their WiFi is super fast, but because the place is crowded I left early.

Iberian-style tapas with decades of tradition -22.965992°, -43.187334° Behind the Siqueira Campos/Copacabana metro station, this small, long-established Portuguese boteco (tavern) is known for its wide selection of seafood tapas, including octopus, crab, smoked salmon and pickled garlic behind a glass front, and traditional appetisers. Operating since 1957, it has sold Portuguese and Spanish delicacies in 100-gram portions, accompanied by ice-cold beers or cachaça (sugar cane liqueur). Former customers took over from the original owners and have preserved the traditional boteco ambiance down to the last detail. In April 2025, we ordered grilled squid with broccoli rice and salad (R$50) for lunch. The presented grilled squid was a surprise as we expected it to be sliced before grilling. It was cooked rather than grilled in one piece and gave us a different taste of octopus. No octopus deep-fried. Service was good at the small and narrow tables. The atmosphere was special. For an authentic and tasty experience, especially for seafood lovers, Adega Pérola remains a remarkable destination in Copacabana.

The only place in Rio where I was able to find an IPA :) If you are confused about snack options, just ask for sausage, cheese, and bread - that’s all you need, believe me :)
Michael K — Google review
A relaxed, no-frills tapas bar. We went for lunch during the weekday and got a table right away. We got a mixture of grilled (hot) dishes and ready-made cold dishes - all seafood dishes. The cold dishes were definitely the standouts - we got the octopus, haddock and lobster. Haddock was our favourite!
Kathleen O — Google review
Mostly indoor seating with a counter of already prepared dishes. We had the mussels and octopus dish. You order by grams. Both were marinated the same way with onion, oil and other spices. Both were tender and slightly cooled when served. We didn't try any hot entrees. The coconut water actually came in the coconut. That was the best-very refreshing after a long day of flights and no sleep, walking around in the heat.
Angela T — Google review
Nice place with a variety of seafood tapas. Unfortunately, the one I chose wasn’t to my taste—there was hardly any codfish, but an overwhelming amount of raw garlic, which made it hard to enjoy. The portion was also quite small for the price. On the other hand, the shrimp rice I ordered was decent and came in a generous portion. Overall, it’s a nice spot to check out, though some dishes could be hit or miss.

German restaurant
Bar Lagoa is a historic establishment that has been serving German specialties, filet mignon, and creamy draft beer since 1934. The beautiful art deco bar overlooks the city's small lake and features pink marble walls and a small balcony where an orchestra once played. Originally named Bar Berlin before World War II, it still offers excellent white wurst, potato salad, sauerkraut with kassler, and well-kept draught Bohemia chopp.
A classic restaurant in Rio, opened since the 30’s at least, when it was called the German Bar - has to change its name during the World War II. Serves good steaks. We had the Oswaldo Aranha, it was very good and tasty. The portion was good for two - R$105. The tap beer was R$9. Loved the uniform of the waiters, very classy and the service was very good. Most customers were over 50yo, which also shows how classic this space is. Overall a great experience, but not for the budget traveler.
P4K T — Google review
Atmosphere was really bland. Nothing going on. The food was okay, however the pizzas did not have any sauce and the prices are outlandish for the quality. You get food that should be cheap canteen food but for prices that are comparable to fine dining. I will not come back here and wont recommend the place to anyone unless they have way to much cash on hand. To be fair to the place though, we did not get any of the dishes they very likely usually serve, since the prices were just way to high for our budget.
Frederik A — Google review
Great place to drink draft beers (chopp) and eat a Milanesa à Figueiredo ( Beef Milanesa with potato salad), the portion has a good size, enough for a two persons sharing plus an entrance. Excellent service and the prices are ok.

The waiters could be a bit more polite and concerned. We had to tell them twice what we want and we got our drinks changed around. We got a capirinha with no sugar at all! Undrinkable! Regardless, the food tastes very nice. It's always nice to eat a good Schnitzel or a good stake. Unfortunately, the view is not the best. We barely could see the lagoon, but it was worth at the end.

Bar Armazém São Thiago in Santa Teresa is a charming spot housed in a 1920s-style warehouse, known locally as Bar do Gomez. The bar exudes a timeless atmosphere with high ceilings, old photos, and eclectic décor. It's situated on a bustling corner of a cobblestone street and has become an iconic Brazilian boteco. Visitors can enjoy the nostalgic ambiance created by faded photos and retro-labeled spirits while savoring an array of appetizers.

The very best place to lessen good Brazilian music. This historic little place it's a point of good musicians, also has a very clear political side, left! Great place for family meal, reasonable price, one of the best places in town to have traditional Brazil food. Beef Ribeye is always excellent, although we ordered it everyday during our stay. By the way, thank you for the free pulled pork sample, it tasted very good!

Lovely place with AC and not at all busy around 6pm on a week night. We got a little confused reading the menu, but eventually ordered a pork and pineapple sandwich. I was worried it might be dry, but it was juicy. We also tried the filet mignon with pineapple and pate sandwich. The beef was also tender, but the liver pate didn't really add to it. You can order without. Of the two, I prefer the pork. The mojito was on the sweet side with not enough mint. The staff was patient and friendly.
Angela T — Google review
We chose this place for lunch as we were looking for something quick and tasty. We had some difficultly placing our order which of no fault of the restaurant but my non existent Portuguese. The staff persevered and tried hard to understand. The sandwiches arrived and looked great, except for the egg on my son’s which looked very well cooked. The portions were great but just lacked the flavour I was looking for.

Great experience. The foods our tour guide ordered for us tasted good. I’d like to come back on my own and try more things. The pork looked tasty.

Came here based on a recommendation from a friend and my family and I were very happy with the good. Sandwiches are very big and feeling, potatoe salad wasn’t too bad and the sausage was very good. Also ordered cheese fries that were very good. Service was very good and we had a very friendly waiter who took his time with us as we didn’t speak Portuguese.

Cervantes was once a legend for late night meals. The waiters used to dress in old school uniforms — and were very efficient (though also not particularly talkative). What I most loved was the simple, impeccable food and chief among the best dishes on the menu was Cervantes’ signature sandwich: thickly sliced roast beef, pate and grilled caramelised pineapple. This evening I returned to Cervantes after many years and my first impression was how shabby the place looked. It was no longer charming but just cheap — most notably the hideous ceiling and faux brick walls. Anyway, I ordered the roast beef sandwich and asked the waiter three times (on my translator) if the pineapple was grilled. Each time he gave me the thumbs up sign signifying yes. However, what arrived was a poor version of the original sandwich with wet, sloppy pineapple in the middle. I never send things back but this time, frustrated that I had asked three times about the sandwich, I did. A long time later the sandwich came back. It looked even worse the second time. Really really disappointing.

Chose the place while strolling down the street Thought of having few drinks and something to bite, opted for open tables. Service was prompt and drinks were served cold But the food was below average. Ordered Garlic beef steak but couldn't find any taste or flavor of same. It was just bland don't think it was marinated at all. Total disappointment And restroom was like a metal can just like in trains Not recommended

My partner and I shared a pernil sándwich here. It was interesting we were looking for something local. The signature sandwich is huge, so you better not go alone. I like the sandwich but was nothing special, it good to see locals enjoye them. Mix of pork meat, pineapple and cheese. Service was exceptional, prices in my view, a bit high, but Rio is pricey! I loved the atmosphere of this place. As a bartender myself, it gave me the feel of a small speakeasy from old New York

Very pleasant range of tapa-like appetizers and main courses. As this is Brazil, beware that even tapas can be big. Excellent attentive service which is unusual for Ipanema with friendly and helpful staff. Good cocktails and wines at reasonable prices. Always very busy. Best to arrive early as the restaurant and terrace is modest in size. A great job in a small space.

One of the best bars on Rio and maybe on the planet. Half indoor - half outdoor, great cocktail, music is serious on most nights. Just a great spot to come with your friends or make new ones.

Lip-licking pasta and great counter bar. All eyes on bar tendering: five-star awarded. A sure pickout place for hanging out as for relaxing and steaming off.

Leviano Bar is a vibrant and lively nightlife spot located in the historic heart of Lapa, Rio de Janeiro. Housed in a restored colonial mansion, the bar offers an eclectic mix of entertainment, including live music, samba, forró, acrobatic shows, and DJ sets. The colorful venue features illuminated artworks on brick walls and serves vibrantly-colored cocktails and imported beer.
It's hip, lively and very crowded place of lapa! You likely to have fun due to its live samba music. Plus, there is a salsa party on up floor on only saturdays. After you see flood of people having fun by standing bar outside, you will get what i mean...

Dishonest staff. They give you car plastic card and bracelet with the same id. When leaving the place, they wanted to charge 20 reais extra because I lost the card on top of what I drunk there. A friend said: “Código de Defesa do Consumidor não autoriza os restaurantes ou estabelecimentos comerciais a multar clientes com a perda de comanda.” Two other guys became aggressive when it was said it’s not legal to do that.

Sooo much fun!!! I was here on the first Saturday of the year, they had about 20 people band playing. It was wild! Band players, mixed in with people who were dancing and the spectators, we were all one big, samba dancing band. How you know the party was good? People in the adjacent bars were going crazy along with us and there was a crowd of people gathered next to the barricades separating the bar from the street. Cocktails were strong but good as well. Everyone was dancing! Highly, highly, highly recommend!

Excellent bar and restaurant with many events and live music! One of the best places in town! The second floor turns basically into a mini-venue for some really lively shows in a variety of music genres. They have specific days for each music genres, so check beforehand when your favorite's gonna happen in their flyers or site. But both the staff and regular customers are usually party and friendly no matter which day it is.

Galeto Sat's is a traditional eatery that has been serving grilled chicken with sides, draft beer, and cachaça since 1976. Founded by the Spanish duo Garcia and Rivera in Copacabana, it has become a popular spot for those seeking a great dining experience. The restaurant also has branches in Botafogo and Barra da Tijuca.
Great little gem if you're looking for some picanha. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly. One of my best meals in Brazil. With US exchange, it's a great value. The chicken was good with sats rub, but not as good as the steak. Was packed, even at midnight, with tourists and locals.
Frank — Google review
Have to agree with the other reviews — the garlic bread is amazing! It’s definitely not a super local spot as there were mostly tourists when we went, but the food was genuinely delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked and full of flavour, and the mashed potatoes were also really good. Huge portions too — we left absolutely stuffed. Very good overall!
Jennifer P — Google review
Went here because all the reviews were great. I will agree on one thing...the garlic bread was fantastic! We shared the full spring chicken with sides. It was ok at best, the skin was very salty and egg side was mainly flour. Caipirinha's were good. Waiters didn't really say anything to us and they still added a tip. Won't be going back. Much better places around.
Joshua T — Google review
First, Really like the servers vibe. I’m not a big meat eater so ofc this place wasn’t anything special to me. Beware of the salad - it’s not what you think (see pics) But that garlic bread was insane - in a good way. I smelled like garlic for 2 days.
Mariah J — Google review
This was the first meal I had in Brazil after not eating for close to 24 hours while I was travelling , it did not disappoint . The chicken was flavour and tender, and I enjoyed the Sat's sauce on it. The fries were good quality but needed some salt (no problem it's on the table) and the garlic bread was amazing, how does more of the world not talk about Brazilian garlic bread. There are good odds I end up back here during my stay in Rio.
Andy B — Google review
Galeto Sat’s have mastered the art of rotisserie. They make the best garlic bread I’ve ever had. They make chicken hearts taste mouth watering good. A must visit in Rio.
Charlie — Google review
The restaurant's appeal comes largely from its charming decor, dating back to a time when things were going well. Ridiculous pricing!!! R$144 for a bit of tough, dry chicken, a cheap sausage coming straight from a supermarket, and a mountain of tough, super salty and amateurish roasted chicken hearts—I couldn't believe the bill! I have eaten juicy chickenhearts and picana for a fraction of the price of this chewy, dry meat...
Jonathan M — Google review
Anthony Bourdain has dined here for one of his shows. That along with a few food blogs from the States and Brazil recommending it means it was on my list of places to eat at. It’s a solid restaurant that serves up pretty good chicken. In fact I ate here twice in a week, the first time to try it out and the second time because it was late at night and they are open until 5AM. Both times I was here it was timed right and I didn't have to wait for a table. The employees were accommodating to a tourist like myself who has a limited Portuguese vocabulary. They also have English language menus although I do like to navigate a menu in another language just to see what I can recognize. Both times I had the chicken with the garlic and pepper sauce as well as pão de alho. The chicken was perfect, juicy and very flavorful. And plenty of garlic. The garlic bread was delicious and had plenty of garlic. I love garlic so it was great for me but I can see some people saying it may be too much garlic. Batatas fritas were good as well. There was more I wanted to try but I will definitely be back the next time I am in Rio de Janeiro. This place has been around for decades so it should still be around on my next visit.

The menu, influenced by the French owners, showcases artisanal cheeses and meats sourced locally. Diners can indulge in breaded heart of palm with basil pesto, roasted tomatoes, feta with marinated peppers, or a roasted sandwich with beef ribs and mustard. The food is thoughtfully selected and fresh, featuring explosive flavors and textures.
Great food! Everything we had was amazing with such unique flavors. The staff spoke English which was great for us, however I must say that the wine was slightly expensive per glass (but that shouldn’t take away from the experience at all!!). If/when I come back to Rio I would come back

This is a fantastic restaurant! The food is top notch and the waiters are super friendly. The steak is perfectly cooked. We went there two consecutive nights. The food is excellent, very wisely chosen and also very fresh. As a starter, i would recommend the palm hearts - there was an explosive mix of different tastes and textures which blow my mind. As a main dish I had the beef tartare and it was absolutely delicious - small pieces of meat, combined with onion, tomatoes, some spices and the egg sauce made my day. On top of that, the people were very nice and friendly, which made the entire experience a top rated one for me.

Loved Boteco Belmonte! The atmosphere is electric, with great music and a lively vibe. Food is delicious, with plenty of options to try. Service is friendly and attentive. Perfect spot for a night out with friends or a special occasion. Highly recommend trying their picanha and caipirinhas! 😊
Ej M — Google review
We had a good meal here. Originally wanted to sit upstairs, but there was an upfront cover fee, so we decided to stay downstairs — which still had plenty of atmosphere. Lots of small plates were being offered around. These were very tasty, though a bit on the pricier side. Despite the restaurant being very busy, we got a table easily with no wait, and tables seemed to turn over quickly. We both ordered chicken dishes, which were nice enough but a little underwhelming for the price. They lacked flavour, and in hindsight we probably should have gone for the beef instead. One downside was the automatically added tip — we felt quite pressured into paying it, which took away from the overall experience.
Rachel P — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Boteco Belmonte is a true Rio classic. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, perfect for enjoying a casual night out with friends. Very cool please! In the heart 💜 of ipanema beach in Rio. Our uber guys recommended this place and we loved. They have a large menu that includes food and drinks. Plenty tables on the first and second floor. The waitresses constantly walk around making sure you are ok. The food was very good and their caipiriñas were amazing. If you want to have access to the second floor there is a fee. I believe is around 30 reales. We stayed at the first floor and we enjoyed everything. Visitors from many countries. Great ambience.
Jackie E — Google review
The food was good but they charge you 35 reais per person to sit in the rooftop. Even that’s not enough apparently because they charge you %12 couvert again. For that money, you expect a view but they make you sit near the toilet at the very end. Nonsense. We do not recommend this place at all because of these reasons.

Amazing restaurant The service is impeccable! Even before you sit down, they offer delicious options like empadas and sausages, perfect for anyone who’s hungry and wants something quick. There are also outdoor tables where you can start off with a drink and enjoy the atmosphere. They are well-prepared to serve guests with speed and efficiency, which makes everything flow so smoothly. A special mention goes to Erivan (I believe he’s the manager), who is always checking in to make sure everything is going well. His attention really makes the experience even more enjoyable.

Pub
Delirium Café is a must-visit for beer lovers in Rio de Janeiro, especially those who appreciate international brews. Nestled just a short stroll from the school, this cozy bar offers an impressive selection of beers from Belgium and Germany, alongside some local Brazilian options. While the menu may not be extensive, each choice promises quality and flavor. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, making it perfect for unwinding after class or enjoying a weekend outing.
Visited in July 2024. Brazil. Rio de Janeiro. This is a true haven for those of us craving a good imported beer. It's no secret that finding a decent selection in Brazil can be a challenge, so we were thrilled to discover Delirium. The bar itself is small, with a handful of tables outside. Inside, it was bustling with activity, which is always a good sign. Food: Usually, when a place boasts a wide beer selection, the food is an afterthought. If there are more than three or four beers on offer, you’re probably limited to basic snacks. We were pleasantly surprised by the variety of appetizers and dishes, akin to a full-fledged restaurant. We went for the sausages and the burger, and both were cooked to perfection. The burger was outstanding, with a balanced combination of sauces, a juicy patty, crispy bacon, and melted cheese. The beef itself was high-quality, free of gristle, cooked to a perfect medium, and had a subtle smoky flavor – a real treat. The sausage was succulent, with the melted cheese adding to its juiciness. And of course, the real star of the show is the vast selection of imported beers. Service: The service was excellent. Our waiter was helpful in guiding us through the beer selection. The food arrived promptly. We were very pleased with the service. It's also a bonus that they have a menu with pictures. Overall: If you're a fan of imported beers, Delirium is a must-visit. They have a huge selection of Belgian beers, some German brews, they have our favorite one Schneider Weisse tap 5, and of course, local options. You won't go hungry either - we highly recommend their burgers!
Olga M — Google review
The draft beer was such a disappointment. The Delirium Cafe should have clean lines, and they tasted dirty in 5 of 6 draft pours. You have to show the beer in the best light possible, and dirty lines are a disgrace. I’m really disappointed.

Delirium Café is the beer bar the Río really needs. There are plenty of cocktail bars but this is a fantastic option for wonderful beer. You'll find many imports from Belgium, Germany, and the US along with some Brazilian brews. Don't get too excited before ordering. You'll find they don't have many beers on the menu for whatever reason. It's pretty disappointing but a replacement beer will still be good. The burgers are their main entrée. They're actually very good, and the vegetarian one would be a good choice for anyone! Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Staff doesn't speak much English but does accept credit cards.
Michael B — Google review
In April 2011, on our final night in Rio, we discovered a charming Belgian pub. We were on a quest to find Delirium Tremens beer, which we found, though it was quite pricey at $20 USD per bottle. Despite the cost, we had a fantastic evening and continue to fondly remember the two weeks in Brazil

Fantastic bar with wide variety of beers including Delirium. The atmosphere was amazing and the price tag was also pretty decent for the choice of beers. Couldn't try any snacks nor finger food since we just had a big fat dinner, though. Highly recommended for beer enthusiasts.

Nestled in the vibrant neighborhoods of Leblon, Ipanema, and Copacabana, Venga Chiringuito has become a beloved destination for tapas enthusiasts since its inception in 2009. Walked in off the street and what a nice surprise for 4 non speaking Australians. The food was amazing. Everything we ordered came quickly but spaced out enough to enjoy it all. We sat outside and it’s off the road enough that we didn’t have to contend with traffic or people. The service was great and the atmosphere was very chill with nice music.

Nice tapas place by Copacabana Very nice food, loved the squid, very good oysters, not very salty though, took a glass of Chardonnay with them, really good 👍🏼. For the burgers, honestly I wouldn't go for them again, disappointed a bit, by the bread, I like my brioche bread for burgers, and it was a bit cold. Very good service. 4 stars overall because the experience can get a bit pricey, but I recommend it.

We came here looking for a kind of light dinner and what a nice decision. We ordered the tapa del mes, a creative dish of leek, apple, burrata and almonds (it should be forever in the menu), then the fish of the day assado with grilles vegetables and we finished with an amazing chocolate mousse. Every bite was better than the previous. And on top of that, the waiter was super attentive and friendly. Plus a good vibe.

mmmmmmmmm! This spot was truly amazing in every way: totally 5 stars, as I can’t think of how it would have been better. The food was fresh and flavorful. We had patatas bravas, mushrooms, eggplant, tortilla, vegetable rice, and pan con tomate. The ambiance was key to making the meal so special - creative lighting, outdoor seating with booths and colored pillows, a view of the ocean, palm trees nearby, and music playing. Textures were diverse: saucy, crunchy, smooth, soft. Flavors were amazing: salty, sweet, creamy, spicy, umami. The servers were friendly & understanding that our Portuguese is not good at all. OH and we had 3 liters of sangria, which was so delicious and left us giggling and chatting all night.

Perched atop Vidigal Hill, Bar da Laje may not be the highest rooftop bar in Rio, but its elevated position offers breathtaking views of the cityscape, Ipanema Beach, and the ocean. This daily hotspot serves up a variety of delectable Brazilian dishes alongside refreshing Caipirinhas and ice-cold beers. Whether you're seeking a leisurely lunch with stunning vistas or an unforgettable night out with live music and samba dancing, this rooftop bar has it all.
The view is truly remarkable. A great spot to enjoy some drinks and food to a very nice view. Live music is also very good. The band is great. One of my favorite scenic spots in Rio.

Food taste good but lampet price was very expensive comparing to other restaurants Food prices in general are expensive too Very limited menu Food are all grill in house, taste good Staff can't really speak English, only sufficient to order but cant communicate well The view of the restaurant is nice but the amount of flies there are crazy! They literally attack you and we couldn't even eat in peace. We just finished quickly and left

I'm incredibly glad that my friends took me there! I had only 2 days in Rio and Bar da Laje became a perfect "cherry on the pie" 🤩 we took the moto-taxi, it was a great choice! Super different and safe. Then the atmosphere in the bar... Oh, this now is one of my favorite places on this planet. Super hope to come back one day. And special thanks for amazing level of the band, as a professional musician I've got a lot of joy!!!! 💃🏻

This experience was nice, it’s hard to get there because Uber won’t go up into the favela, so you go to the base of the hill (end of leblon) and take a car or motorbike up the mountain. The place closed early but the view is nice. There are 2 other bars right below this one so you are there with other tourists. We only had time for a round of drinks, but you pay $50 reals each just to get inside then drinks and food is a little pricier. Really friendly waiter, front desk was okay. Drinks were nice and the view was really great, it was cool they allowed this experience in their neighborhood. We paid like $30 real to a bus driver to take us down the mountain, they seem to come at closing time. I recommend going with someone who speaks Portuguese.

Tourist trap! R$160 to get in and drinks are so expensive. Go to the nearby bars and drink with the locals they are friendly and it’s way cheaper. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The view is nice though.
James — Google review
This to me was extreamly worth it! The bar is situated in the informal settlement " " with a panaramic view of Rio. The only access to the top is with a Taxi Motor bike as the streets are too narrow. The taxi bike fare was BR10 and to enter the bar was BR30. The hills are extreamly steep and not advised to video while getting to the top as you will not be able to hold on!! However of you have a head mounted go pro it would be epic! Furthermore the food and drinks at the bar was of high standard!
Reon G — Google review
Great view but they will try to scam you. It was cold and rainy during day and we asked for a blanket. We left to pay, and the lady wanted to charge 246 € for 3 blankets, costing less than 5 euros each. In the end, we just needed to give the blankets out, so we went to the table and picked them up. She could have asked before charging. We were not charged because we gave back the blankets that were on the table. The place could be much better with the correct attitude.

I got their "fettuccine gorgonzola" and it was delicious. I added some olive oil to it and it made it better but it was already good on its own. Only wish the portion was bigger for the price. Their pizza was also very good.

We took a picanha. It was really nice cooked and tasty. But we think that the restaurant is really expensive for what you´ve got. We did a lot of restaurants in Brazil, especially in Rio. And this one was not worth it. The restaurant is really really noisy. We almost can't talk each other during the diner.

Henry S — Google review
Very poor quality food. I had a pizza which seemed undercooked. My wife had seafood spaghetti, with rubber textured seafood. To me the most important cook in this place is the microwave. The only reason I gave Service 3 stars was because the staff appeared to know the food was bad and to avoid losing tips provided good service. I must admit I did look at reviews of this place before going but I ignored my instinct. Whoever reads this review don't make the same mistake I did. Go for a drink but not food, unless you are happy with microwaved food.

Bom - Buono - so good! A real authentic italian pizzeria. Good selections of food and cocktails. Fresh ingredints and friendly staff. Not too expensive either. Love it!

The atmosphere is great and has a cool vibe. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. At one point, we overheard the waitress telling another employee—right in front of our table—that the music was too loud and asking for it to be lowered. It was turned down for about two minutes, but then it quickly went back to an extremely high volume, making it impossible to have a conversation with the person sitting right in front of us. We complained four times, and each time, someone would turn the volume down, only for it to go back up within minutes (not even five). In the end, we decided to leave because the service proved to be inefficient and disrespectful. Definitely disappointing.

This is one of the best places I've ever been to! Amazing vibe, delicious food. The burrata appetizer is divine. Literally the cheese is so creamy and gooey, like God blew a load in your mouth. And your mouth wanted more. And they have a cocktail called "quebra nozes" which is the best drink I've ever ordered next to some of Nicola Bara's top creations at Bar Tero - Vermuteria. Simply divine.

We came here in the early evening because of many recommendations. It was sooo worth. We got a table quick. But watch out already at 7 pm the restaurant was packed and people had to wait long. The wine we had was extremely good and well balanced. The price was extremely fair. The cost for one bottle were 90 reais. The starters were good but not special. We had salmon carpaccio and stracciatella di buffalo with parma. The pizza was outstanding! Fluffy dough and the perfect balance between buffala and san marzano tomatoes!! The pizza had also something sweet I can’t really describe. Definitely one of the better ones! Tiramisu was proper. I highly recommend this place to everyone who is interested in high quality and taste!

Great spot to hand with friends and enjoy good food and drink for reasonable prices. It gets very busy and spills out onto the sidewalk so you may need to wait for a table, arrive before 8 to avoid too long a wait. Good music, friendly English speaking (and very good looking) staff. With nearly twenty taps featuring a diverse range of craft beers, including wheat beers, IPAs, Belgian-style Tripels, and more, it has garnered attention as one of the best spots for beer lovers in Rio. While originally known for serving light lagers, Brewteco now offers an expanded selection with two taps and a craft bottle menu.
Excellent place for some quality IPA, APA, or ale. They have a good variety of styles but mainly bitter ones (which I prefer). There's a lot of space outside and excellent for enjoying a night out. Definitely recommended.

Really loved hanging out here. They had fantastic beers on tap (one of the best selections available in Rio). The staff were friendly and welcoming even with my limited Portuguese. Beers are served in several sizes and on hot days I recommend the smaller so it stays cold as this place isn’t fully air conned and so you could find yourself drinking on the street. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by stunning artwork that adds a unique and vibrant touch to the atmosphere, making it feel like you're entering a world of craft and creativity. The selection of beers is impressive, offering a wide range of options to suit any palate, from IPAs to rich stouts and everything in between. Whether you're a beer enthusiast or just enjoy trying new flavours, there's something for everyone. For those who prefer non-alcoholic options, the variety of soft drinks is just as satisfying, with carefully curated choices that don’t disappoint. Although I didn’t try the food, the quality and care evident in the drinks and atmosphere suggest it would be worth a taste. Hocus Pocus DNA is not just a place to grab a drink; it's a destination to enjoy great company, immerse yourself in artistic surroundings, and savour well-crafted beverages. Highly recommend for a visit if you’re in the area and looking for a brewery that brings a little magic to the experience!

Enjoyed a flight of beers with a light snacks. Stayed a while having a couple more beers of which all were delicious. Only downside was lack of t-shirts in large, they had none and having seen the website before we flew to Rio we were all in for buying some. The artwork for the beers is phenomenal. Such a shame. Anyway, the beers. 👌
Mark M — Google review
Overall, it was a good experience. The customer service was excellent. The reason for the 4 stars is that the Chicken Chicken No Fuba were not as delicious as they looked. We had a flight of beers consisting of numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, and 9 (see menu for a description of all beers). My favorites were number 5, a blonde beer similar to Blue Moon, and number 9, an IPA. The worst one was number 3; I didn’t really like it. The Porquin Desfiadin (empanadas) was very tasty. The vibe was great there. I will be back.

In Brazil, generally, craft beer sought higher prices, so what's this place strategy: to commit the heresy of calling Guinness a "craft beer" in order to collect rewards. What every unsuspecting Brazilian don't know is that Guinness is as craft as any Brahma or Antarctica can of beer (although better tasting or just a different style of mass-produced beer, ale or whatever... they have a modern factory bigger than several blocks in the outskirts of Dublin). In a word: beware of over fancying and appropriation of Irish pub style in order to fool less-travelled customers with high prices for common man beverages.

Cine Botequim is a quirky and cozy restaurant that opened in 2010, located in Centro Historico. It's a dedicated spot for cinema enthusiasts, featuring film memorabilia and dishes named after famous Brazilian movie titles. During the day, it serves as a casual dining spot and transforms into a film house at night, showcasing films daily and providing a platform for cinema students and new directors to display their work.
My experience is somehow skewed since I didn't order any food. I noticed some deliciously looking "coxinhas" (they have a whole menu of them), but that was all. Their artisan beer offerings are also quite decent. Service was flawless, and the toilet room was quickly cleaned after my friend threw it all up. Waiters don't understand English, however, be warned. That being said, I went for the cocktails and they're superb: strong, colourful, but still savoury. "Malvada" (cachaça, passion fruit, condensed milk) is a good night starter. "Amnesia" does live up to its name. "A Dama de Vermelho" is a sweet & sour drink for those looking for something bitter. "Sex and the City" is my personal favorite: light and sweet without feeling like a soft drink. The space is dimly lit and cozy, like a small-sized Outback Steakhouse. Great place to bring a date or meet with some friends. A full night with drinks and food should end around R$200-300 tops. Be warned this place closes earlier than most bars in Rio. Parking nearby is expensive, hard to find and likely dangerous. Either way, don't drink and drive. Instead, ask the waiter for a cab (they call it "taxi") or walk to the subway/bus stops nearby (about half a mile away).

Bar Astor is a trendy and chic spot located in Ipanema, right across from the beach. It offers a wide range of drinks, including exotic gin cocktails and creamy draft beers. The menu features Brazilian classics with unique ingredients and ambitious presentations. This seaside bar serves up fresh oysters, mussels, steak tartare, and craft cocktails in a stylish coastal setting.
As an American I have high expectations for cheeseburgers and this place did not disappoint. Delicious! It was likely one of the best burgers I've had while traveling abroad. Try a few drops of their in house salsa, it looks like mustard but it doesn't taste like it. I bought some to bring home! 😍
Mari S — Google review
Nice place with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was really good, but you will probably find better desserts elsewhere. We would still recommend Bar Astor.
Jørgen A — Google review
Could give this 3 or 4 stars. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad. Food and drinks pretty decent. Value for the money? Eh. Location... nice, but it's not like it's a real beach view since it's across the street. Just felt like I came away from it a little underwhelmed.
Tom S — Google review
I would give 4.5 starsif i could. Drinks are around 10usd (with tips included) and tasty (i had the french75) Starters around same price or little bit more expensive. Lots of foreigners but i would recommend for an after beach bar. Just try it.

Great appetizers, good drink selection, friendly service and great location for a lunch off the beach or pre-game evening drinks.
Josh R — Google review
Good cocktails nice staff. The bartender does everything to make you happy. We drank 2 different special made cocktail. My girlfriend has a different one called cocktail Luísa(not on the list)! . Ask for Paulo to make for you it is very good and sweet.(should add to the cardapio(menu)). The food seems good to nothing to complain. It is in front of the beach so dont expect that it is cheap.

The Arp bar offers an amazing view of Ipanema beach, with the Morro dos Dois Irmãos in the background and the waves crashing onshore. The restaurant serves a delicious mix of hot dogs and burgers for lunch (R$35).
Amazing place, situated just next to the beach with fast service. Inside is less inspiring, so rather wait for something outside. Had three courses for lunch and all though its not cheap cheap, its high quality and menu has a lot of variation.
Björn J — Google review
Such a wonderful spot for breakfast (& I’m sure other meals too!) The patio location is right on the Ipanema boardwalk with fantastic views of the beach. Restaurant played some light bossa nova which was a lovely atmosphere and service from our waiter Mario was perfect. Lastly, the food we ordered hit the spot. We hope to return on our trip!

Been here two times. Beautiful place, beneath a hotel, with good vibes (a bit stiff though) and a great location and view at Ipanema. Nothing to complain about food and drinks, but the second time I did not come back for the drinks but for the view and the chill ambient.
Daniel W — Google review
Great environment, awesome service, good desing and execution on the plates. Recommended. Aprox 400R$ for a party of two wirh drinks

The food is average and the service is slow. They had all the exterior tables “booked” and with a long waiting list but we spend more than one hour dining inside and the tables outside stayed empty.
Carla J — Google review
Excellent breakfast place on Ipanema beach. The food is great and fresh. The service is professional and super friendly.

We stayed at the hotel and dined here daily for breakfast and one evening for dinner. The best food we have eaten in Brazil, great quality and taste and super nice staff
Eden P — Google review
Flavorful food! I'd come back on a date. My favorite thing, live chill music, not too loud like in other places. We tried many dishes and all the food was quite good. The shrimp starter was my favorite. Service was not only efficient but kind and fun. Excellent for dinner.

Italian restaurant
Pope Ipanema is a trendy gastrobar inspired by Italian resorts, earning accolades within just a year of its opening. The Mediterranean aroma from the kitchen, inviting ambiance akin to a cozy living room with pleasant background music, and an exquisite drink menu contribute to its appeal. The decor seamlessly blends antique and modern elements, creating a warm atmosphere accentuated by an open kitchen. Guests praise the polite and quick service as well as the talented chef's delicious and meticulously crafted dishes with diverse textures.
Tried to come here on a Thursday night with no reservation there was 8 of us - they said it was an hour wait. The place was super lively and we would have loved to wait but we had a child with us. We came back on a Saturday during lunch time, the place was less busy so we could just walk in. The food was really good though the pizza is pretty small for the price (think personal pizza, not a great sharing item). The mussels and fries were delicious and the pasta was well made. Highly recommend it in the night time if you want a great atmosphere place in Ipanema that is also close to the beach.
Raj S — Google review
My group of 4 went in on a Tuesday night around 7 and were able to get an outdoor table immediately. The service was a bit inconsistent but they got rather busy so I am not knocking them too much for that, just something to note. We split the ravioli to start. The sage butter sauce was heavenly. As my main I got one of the pork filet dishes. It was good but I wish I would have gone with something else. The vibe is very trendy. It would be great for a date night! It definitely fills up so I would recommend making a reservation.
Midori G — Google review
Great service, memorable flavors in every bite (and every sip). A ‘must go’ place in Rio if you fancy Italian cuisine in a casual Carioca setting.
Tatiana T — Google review
I personally think this is the best Italian restaurant in Rio, hands down. Food is excellent, the ambience is cozy and the location is frequented by a good-looking audience. Drinks are well made and reasonably priced as well. When the location is full the service can get kinda slow, you have to make eye contact with your waiter and ask for service, but other than that this place is fantastic.
Jan L — Google review
Liv das the best waitress we could ever have. The food was amazing and the drinks were for another planet. We highly recommend this place not only for the food, but also because of the service and the mood place (chill but also comfy) in another words, incredible
Euge B — Google review
Possibly the best Italian food I’ve ever had. The waitress recommended some great starters (tuna and tomato and some sort of crab dish). Very affordable as well and great portions.
Luis C — Google review
Good selection of vegetarian options and mocktails. We had the burrata with fresh bread and arancini. Good ambience and music.
Claud B — Google review
The waiter was polite, helpful and very quick to serve or answer any questions. The place is beautifully decorated with a mix of antic and modern artifacts. The atmosphere is very warm with an open kitchen. It was a great pleasure to eat, the food is delicious. The chef is talented. It was tasty, with a lot of different textures. One can tell there is a great attention given to the details in each dish. Overall, I highly recommend it, it was a very tasteful experience in Rio.

Loved it so much that we came back twice. Innovative cocktails and simple yet incredibly delicious food. The corn pastel, okra and fried pork were to die for! Also super great vibes from the bar team.

Unassuming bar with great food and cold drinks. In a typical bar experience in Rio your table will be at the sidewalk, but take the opportunity to imerse yourself in the city. Botafogo is a great neighborhood fir bars and if you find this one st capacity you can find another close by.

We saw the recommendation in the new york times and the food was incredible!! We ordered conserva de abobrinha e berinjela and I completely recommend it, the service was super fast, highly recommended place!
Agustín G — Google review
Good place, but overpriced. They need to have a better hot sauce, or pimenta. The one they offer is weak and the dishes require a hot sauce. The highlight is the ‘torresmo’. The pastel is definitely not worth it, skip it.

Great place! LOVED the food, extremely tasty. The staff always running from one table to the other but they pay close attention to you, plus extremely friendly and funny even in the chaos of a Carnival Saturday night! Great vibes great food great drinks great staff, can’t complain!

Damn dude, went with no expectations and even if I went with some I would’ve been shocked. Really good in such a simply executed way, reasonably priced and good vibes. The Oswaldo Aranha was soooooo yummy! The caipirinha smash - could get black out drunk on that biiii

Bar Luiza is a historic gem nestled in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, boasting a rich legacy since its inception in 1887. Originally located on Rua Assembleia, it made its way to its current spot near Largo da Carioca in 1927. This beloved botequim has witnessed countless moments in Brazilian history and has become a cherished gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
(Translated by Google) Amazing bar! Real German food. The best sauerkraut I've ever tried, without a shadow of a doubt. They ferment it for 15 days. I highly recommend their croquettes and Luiza's specials, which are very well-served dishes that include several house specialties. We ordered the complete, which came with pork knuckle, steak, sausages, sauerkraut and mayonnaise salad. In addition, the draft beer is ice cold and the waiters are exceptionally friendly. We were very well received by Mr. Valdomiro, who was super helpful and didn't leave any glasses empty. (Original) Bar sensacional!

(Translated by Google) I was at the bar in early January, on a Saturday around 6pm, the first beer was warm, the second one too..., and I noticed right away how disorganized it was, but since they had only been open for a short time, I gave them credit. For someone who left Luiz after so many years, it should be better, in fact much better. I'm not even talking about the size of the place, I'm talking about the service and organization, that's all. The fact that you're working with family members doesn't mean it should be unstructured, on the contrary, I suggest regular meetings with everyone to practice new strategies.
